The Private (not) Thoughts of a Moray Chapter 1: I wonder if you look both ways (when you cross my mind)
Tumblr media
Gender Neutral Reader x Jade Leech
Chapter 1 preview:
“Henchman? Are you okay?” “…Yeah, thanks guys, I didn’t realize how sick I was getting… this magic thing is hard.” Snorting at your whiny tone, Ace still looked at you with a bit of sympathy. “It’s that telepathy stuff that’s the problem right? Not magic!” “Although,” Grim spoke up, left your arms and stood on the step instead. “That could just be a unique magic thing, right?” “Yeah! Though it’s basically impossible for someone to have a unique magic active all the time…” Deuce rubbed the back of his head, looking at you frustrated. “You’d probably be blotting, maybe it’s something else?”

back to chapter list
A year ago today, you, Y/N, entered Twisted Wonderland with nothing but the clothes on your back, a rotting, haunted dormitory, and a fire-breathing cat creature. You were but a mere  human with no magic to defend yourself with and no way to return to your home. Today, after months of sweat, tears, blood and 7 consecutive overblots, you have become known as the infamous prefect.
It was a title well-deserved for the human that survived the overblots of several powerful mages, especially in the case of your dearest, Hornton (you still called him that even now, he seemed to like it). But it ended surprisingly well, with minimal casualties to the students and to the overblotters. You really should give thanks to the Seven for that.
Though it’s really less impressive than it sounds out loud, as without the help of your fellow freshman, Ace and Deuce, Jack, Epel, Sebek, and even Grim, it wouldn’t have been possible, as you still remain mostly magicless.
Mostly.
Despite the mirror declaring you “empty”, and though it was true for most of your time at NRC, it seems that your extended stay has slowly granted you an affinity for magic. At the rate you’re learning at though, you can mostly cast small spells, like light spells in the dark, and small healing spells courtesy of Nurse Goethel.
You personally found it pretty impressive that you could cast spells now, though the one time you mentioned as much, Ace insisted that you were the equivalent of a little kid proudly showing off a shitty stick figure drawing of their family.
You choose to view that as a family endearingly encouraging their kid’s budding artistic streak!
Besides, that wasn’t your only budding ability, as you noticed during the graduation ceremony for the seniors. The freshman, per tradition, were in charge of the concession stands before the graduation ceremony. From what Crowley told your class, this was to help build character and build financial literacy, for he was a generous headmage that prepared his students for the real world.
You, of course, knew that it was probably just because it was cheaper than hiring someone.
Here you, Grim, and your 6 fellow classmates worked at a booth outside the coliseum, currently selling bouquets and garlands to the graduates’ families. Soon enough, the conversation shifted to summer plans.
“Ahh~ I’m super excited to go home! My family’s gonna go to the beach! I'm so looking forward to seeing hot babes!”
“Of course you are Ace,” Jack sighed. “I’m just looking forward to some cooler weather back home.”
Deuce looked over as he adjusted the garlands, Heartslabyul-styled, in his hands, “It’s gonna suck being alone on campus for the next three months. Are you sure you don’t want to spend summer break with one of us?”
“Ehhh? I didn’t say anything like that!” Ace scoffed. “Don’t lump me in with you, Juice!”
“Don’t be rude, Ace!”
“Deuce is right! Y/N! We have room at my home, Meemaw- I mean, Grandma -would be happy to have you!” Epel piped up from behind the booth. “And I’d finally have someone my age with me in town.”
You smiled as your fellow incoming second-years bickered amongst themselves. Jack looked exasperated at the Adeuce’s arguing, as he usually did. On the other hand, Epel was blatantly ignoring the two as he looked at you with puppy eyes, embracing his cuteness (just this once) to convince you to join him home.
“Cease your arguing! It is unbefitting of you as soon to be upperclassmen to a new class of students!” Sebek barked, looking quite silly as Grim laid on top of his head, a scene that would’ve been impossible two months ago.
“Nyah! Quiet down, you’re even louder when I’m on top of your head!”
“Mm-hm, I appreciate the concern--Grim get off him--but I can’t,” You grabbed Grim from Sebek, who leaned down to your head to help. “Crowley’s giving me a bigger allowance if I stay to care for the fairies again.”
Grim curled himself in your arms as he pouted. “The cafeteria and school store are gonna be closed again! How am I gonna get my premium tuna from Sam now?!”
“Don’t whine about something so trivial! Prefect, are you sure you don’t want to spend at least a weekend with me and my Mom?” Deuce asked you once again.
“Ah, I’d have to ask if the ghosts could cover, but a weekend should be fine, but we’d better get back to the concessions.”
“Right you are, human! We should be celebrating the graduation of our upperclassmen!”
Jack winced at Sebek’s increasing volume, “Lower your voice, Sebek. It’s already too loud with the crowd as it is.”
Wincing alongside him, you rubbed your temples as the noise from the crowd grew with the number of attendees. You'd expect a graduation to be a busy event with loud crowds, but that was before you could hear everyone’s thoughts as well.
It’d started off slow, just after the last overblot, with soft whispers floating in your mind like will-o-wisps in a dark forest. They grew, as fire does, with those whispers becoming more and more prominent. Soon you could hear your classmates daydreams, worries, and secrets, like the soft crackle from a campfire. It wasn’t like you could control it though, each little fire from your peers grew together to become one large, blazing wildfire. In the forest of your mind, one unprepared for any sort of magical blaze, it tore through you, leaving your mind burned and throbbing from the endless feed of thoughts.
I can’t believe it’s the end of the year already!
Ah! Damn they’re loud…
Geez, Mom, stop embarrassing me, it’s my graduation…
Make it stooooop!
Maybe I should stop for a graduation garland. Would he want an NRC one or Savanaclaw one?
Pleeeease… it hurrrts!

“Y/N?”
You felt soft purring against your chest, where you had been clutching Grim tighter to your chest as you hyperventilated. Grim pressed his head against your chin in an attempt to comfort you as tears flowed from your eyes. You could still feel your head pounding when Ace and Deuce approached with concern.
“You don’t look too good Prefect, do you need to take a breather?”
“Deuce is right, come on let's take you back to the dorm!” Ace placed a hand on the small of your back and began leading you away from the crowd. “See ya later guys!”
“Hey! You can’t just skip out of work like that!”
“Trappola! Get back here!”
“H-hey wait! Deuce, give back the garlands!”
Ace continued walking as Deuce ran back to hand Epel the products in his hands. “Oh sorry can’t hear you from here, Prefect is super sick, gotta blast~”
Leading into your friend, you let him guide you to your dorm, Deuce catching up to you as well. While it was still relatively packed along Main Street, even with the ceremony starting soon, the crowds dispersed as you two headed closer to the dorm.
Ah man, the line at Sam’s is super long. Maybe I can cut in somewhere?
Oh look at the Great Seven! Wait, that one’s an actual lion?
The botanical garden is closed! Nooo, I was gonna confess there before we left for internships!!
As the four of you approached to the dorm, you visibly relaxed as both the voices and thoughts of the crowds quieted down.
“Hey, we’re here,” Said Deuce, relaxing slightly as you approached the gate to Ramshackle. “You wanna just sit out here for a bit? The weather’s not too bad.”
You nodded and relaxed as you and your friends sat on the stone steps of the dorm, taking a deep breath as only the faintest of voices made their way to your head. From this far away, it made for a more pleasant ambience, like those YouTube “study with me” videos you’d put on for studying back home.
“Henchman? Are you okay?”
“... Yeah, thanks guys, I didn’t realize how sick I was getting… this magic thing is hard.”
Snorting at your whiny tone, Ace still looked at you with a bit of sympathy. “It’s that telepathy stuff that’s the problem right? Not magic!”
“Although,” Grim spoke up, left your arms and stood on the step instead. “That could just be a unique magic thing, right?”
“Yeah! Though it’s basically impossible for someone to have a unique magic active all the time…” Deuce rubbed the back of his head, looking at you frustrated. “You’d probably be blotting, maybe it’s something else?”
You snorted at his comment, drawing strange looks from them.
“You could’ve just said I’m weird. It’s a well known fact at this point.” Sighing dramatically, you threw yourself down to lay on the steps with your wrist resting on your forehead, tossing back your head for extra effect.
“Magic or not, I, the Ramshackle Prefect, will always be the strange little human! Whether it’s the strange human with no magic, or the strange human with weird…uh…mind magic!” You heard him snort. “I, alas, remain a spectacle!”
Rolling his eyes, Ace flicked your forehead (“Ow! Ace what the fuck!”) at your dramatics and sighed.
“You know, I was joking earlier. You can join me—or Deuce, I guess (“Hey!”)—during the break. We’re not all-knowing like a certain housewarden friend of yours, but we can help you figure out what's up with you.”
So far, only Ace, Deuce, and Grim knew about your newfound ability. And while it was the thought that counted, neither really knew anything about spontaneously gaining magical abilities. In fact, no one, not Crowley or even Hornton, really knew what to make of your new powers. Adding telepathy on top of the mix seemed like a good path to trouble. In the meantime, you found it best to keep it between you four, even if you felt bad leaving your other three friends out of the loop.
I bet my brother can help us figure out something, he works at a pretty swanky university back home!
You sighed and adjusted yourself so that you laid on your side, Grim curling up to you as you looked up at your friends. Ace sat a few steps down, so he could stretch his arm alongside your back, while Deuce laid his head on your waist.
Almost a year's worth of life-threatening fiascos have led to your closeness to your dearest friends, and Ace’s casual PDA with you and Deuce certainly helped bring your little group close together.
“I’m not gonna ask that of you, as much as I appreciate it.”
Why not? “My mom would love to have you over! It’d be no issue!” We could meet up with Ace and go to a library or something.
“That’s not the point Deuce,” You responded. “I just want to be able to do things on my own, and do you and Ace even live close enough to do that? Isn’t the Queendom pretty big?”
What? He didn’t mention me. Ace made a face at you as you answered. “Are you reacting to his thoughts?” Man that’s kinda creepy.
“Shut up, Ace.” Sorry… “I’m not trying to be creepy!”
Deuce smacked his side. “Don’t call them creepy!” Don’t be rude, Ace!
“Ya, what he said, don’t be rude!”
“He didn’t even say anything out loud!”
You blew a raspberry at him, the other Heartslabyul student snickering at his exasperated look.
You’re lucky you’re both cute…and stop laughing at me Deuce!
Grin widening, and migraine fading, you wiggled your eyebrows at Ace.
“Oh~ you think we’re cute? Deuce, he thinks we’re cuties!”
Eh? Me cute?
“Okay! That’s definitely not fair! Shut your mouth now before you spill all my secrets!” Ace grabbed at you as he tried to cover your mouth, blushing, failing to notice Deuce’s equally red face.
“Nyah!!! Watch it! No crushing the mighty Grim!” The little cat hopped out of the way and into Deuce’s arms as the two of you began to playfully wrestle. “I can’t be smushed before I become the greatest mage ever!”
You and Ace continued to fight for a few minutes, Ace gaining the upper hand as you were already laying down. Eventually, he finished your fight by simply holding your hands hostage in his, and laying across you, preventing any movements other than squirming, much to the other two’s amusement.
Unable to wrangle your hands back, you ceased your movements, huffing. Haha, I win. Instead, you relaxed, finding his presence on your chest comforting, like a weighted blanket.
Silence overtook the four of you for a few minutes, Deuce looking off into the nearby woods, Grim grooming himself, Ace settling in for what looked like a nap, and you gazing at the sky as stars began to emerge in the dusk.
“It’s just…” You spoke quietly, breaking the silence as if telling a deep secret. Maybe you were. “I’ve been so dependent on others while here, and now I feel like I can take that burden off of others.”
Your comment disrupted the comfortable quiet between you all.
“You’re not a burden,” Not to us. Deuce spoke up, his voice soft. “But I understand, wanting to become independent.” I want the same too.
“If you were a burden, we wouldn't've stuck around for so long you know!” More brash, but just as soothing, Ace scoffed. We love ya too much for that, anyways. “I think Deuce would agree with me.”
“Besides!” Grim piped up, standing up now with hands on his hips, You’re my henchman! “I need my henchman! You wouldn’t be allowed to go anywhere without me!” How else are you gonna survive without the great Grim!
You smiled at the three, taking a deep breath.
I don’t know what I’d do without you guys. I wonder what would’ve happened, if we never crossed paths the way we did.
Grunting, you push Ace off to the side (“Hey!”) and stood up, stretching your limbs until they gave a satisfying pop.
“We should probably head back, Riddle’ll probably have both your heads if he finds out you're missing from concession duty.”
“Ah shit.” You’re totally right.
They’re right. “Are you sure you’ll be okay though? It’s gonna be way more crowded once the ceremony starts.” Deuce stood up with you, letting Grim take a perch on his shoulder.
Myah! I’m taller here!
“Hm, yeah I think so.” You held a hand to Ace and helped him up. “I’ll just focus on whatever you two start dozing off about! Don’t think about anything gross though, Ace.”
He threw his hands up. “I don’t know what you’re talking about!” What? You think I’d think of dirty thoughts? “It’s not like I’m actively trying to think of stuff to freak you out!”
“… I heard you think about whether or not you’d fuck your own clone—”
“THAT WAS ALL CATER!”
Laughing at Ace’s red-faced embarrassment, your little group walked back to the coliseum to join your friends before the graduation, and the end of the school year, finally commenced.
Tumblr media
Geez, it’s crowded.
Ah man, I hope I’m not forgetting anything.
I wonder if they’re gonna let us keep our rooms when we get back.
The food’s gonna go bad! Come on, let me get to the mirror!
My internship will start right away, I should tell them goodbye now.
I wonder who’ll be housewarden now that Leona’s gone.
I can’t believe I went through the entire year without meeting Idia, my own housewarden!
We can’t lose you!! Come back, I can’t work the lounge without you!!
Groaning from both the noise of the crowd and their thoughts, you rubbed your temples, reminded of the night before. Grim was still at the dorm, peacefully dozing off the morning away. At least this time you could blame your friends for keeping you up at the impromptu sleepover.
“I told you to go to bed early,” That’s how you get sick, Prefect.
“Shaddup Jack, that’s not why I’m feeling sick.”
“... I didn’t say anything about you being sick?” Did I say that out loud? “Uh, you’re okay, right?”
Waving off your slip-up, you nod. “Yeah, I’m fine, just tired. Hey, who’s gonna be Savanaclaw’s housewarden with Leona becoming a fourth year? Do y’all have, like, a throw down or something?”
Crossing his arms, ears flattening, Jack shook his head. That’s stupid. “No, of course not.” They’d probably do that if they could honestly. “Leona had appointed Ruggie, surprisingly, but he didn’t want it. Said he didn’t want to fight with whoever might become vice housewarden later on.”
“Eh? But I heard that he took it after all!” Epel chipped in, hair swept back in a ponytail and skin immaculate despite the late night activities (damn Vil and his pristine skincare routine). “What made him change his mind?”
“A-ah, well, I uh-” Rubbing the back of his head, Jack suddenly looked embarrassed. “asked me to be his vice housewarden, and I couldn’t refuse an upperclassman’s request.”
“Woah, what!” No fair! “I can’t believe he asked! Vil didn' even spare a glance at me!” Epel pouted, his accent emerging before he caught himself.
“I mean, good for you Jack! I’m happy for you!” So unfair…
“Yeah man! Don’t be so bashful about it!” It’s super cool! Ace and Deuce approached you two, out of breath from running over, “Riddle definitely didn’t consider one of us for vice! He asked someone from his year to take Trey’s place.”
The pair had woken up late and ran over to pack up the rest of their things (or at least Ace did, Deuce had his stuff already packed, but couldn’t find his shoes at Ramshackle this morning), so both were slightly disheveled.
“Of course not! Rosehearts would only expect the best of his dorm to lead the rest by example! Something the two of you humans fail to do!” Unlike me! My lord asked me and Silver to take his and Master Lilia’s place! Oh, joy to be considered a guiding leader by the Young Master!
 “Unlike you two, I was deemed worthy by the Young Master to be Diasomnia’s new vice housewarden!” Sebek chastised the two, dressed in rather prim clothing that didn’t differ too much from his dorm uniform. “If you two were to shape yourselves up, then I’m sure Rosehearts would’ve considered once of you as his vice housewarden!”
Groaning, Ace rolled his eyes at Sebek, who made an offended noise, before throwing an arm around you. “Hey Prefect, you know our offer still stands-”
“What do you mean our offer, Ace, I made it first!” Deuce grumbled. You’d probably make them clean your room or something as payment.
Shut up, Deuce. “-You can always stay with one of us during summer break! The headmage probably has someone else that can care for the fairies anyways. Enjoy the break with us!” Ace grinned and gave a sly chuckle. Plus, you can wear a super cute bathing suit to the beach with me! Yeah, I know you heard me~
“...Thanks Ace, maybe next time.” Deadpanning, you reached up and yanked on Ace’s ear, who started yelping in pain, as you pulled.”No guys, I promise I’ll be fine! Some of the juniors—or I guess seniors now—they’re gonna be coming to the college during break to solidify their internship credits and stuff. Plus I got the ghosts, so I won’t be lonely!”
Deuce looked at you with furrowed brows and concerned eyes. “Are you sure?”
“Yes, but don’t worry,” you winked. “I’ll definitely be coming by to meet your mom. I’ll let you know so I can figure out the ferry and bus and stuff!”
“Oi! You can’t say that and not visit me too! It’ll basically be in the same area,” Ace whined, he’d accepted his fate with his ear in your hand.
“Yer gonna visit my place too then!” No fair to see just them!
“I’ll be visiting Epel’s place later in the summer, so we can meet then too,” Jack offered, a small smile on his face.
“Then it would only be acceptable to visit Briar Valley too! The Young Master—” And I. “—should be your first visit!”
Smiling at your friends, you felt incredibly lucky to have made a small family for yourself in a home away from home. Soon enough though, each passed through the magic mirror, exchanging promises of visits in the near future, though Sebek’s voice still rang in your ears.
Even when the last of your friends stepped through the mirror, you loitered around the mirror chamber and wished farewell to your other acquaintances and friends. Cater even gifted you a custom phone case before leaving, promising to message you on Magicam when he returned before his internship. As the crowd became smaller and smaller, you yawned and determined that it was time to take your leave and sleep for the rest of the day with Grim.
Turning to the exit, someone’s peculiar thought entered your head.
Ah, no goodbyes for me, my cute little pearl? How devastating! Why don’t you look my way, cute little Y/N?
Whipping your head around with wide eyes and a flush face, you scanned the remaining students for the person whose thoughts you heard. Searching for someone looking your way, or looking sad, or something, you came up empty. A few students from Heartslabyul, Ignihyde, and Octavinelle remained. From the remaining students, you only recognized Azul and the Leech twins, none of which were looking in your direction.
Tired and confused, you shrugged and simply continued your leave. Though, not without one final thought entering your brain.
Finally leaving? Until next year then, my little pearl~.

Hey it's time for me to rant about mildly annoying things about society and being aro/ace! (Long post warning)
Okay so when I was eating dinner with my parents today and we were talking about our grandparents for a bit. Specifically, my grandma getting sick, and how my uncle traveling around all the time but living with them did not help that. Anyway then I was thinking about him, because he's unmarried with no kids and so is my other uncle. So then I brought up the fact that I have no first cousins, making my one joke about the topic that I'm the onliest only child ever. And we laughed about it for a bit, but then my mom said something else.
“See that's why –and I feel a bit like Jane Austen saying this– that's why you have to get married”
And my aroace brain already did not like that, but obviously I wasn't going to tell her that because I'm not out?? And then my dad then butted in with a joke about the reason being that the family line would end if I didn't, which annoyed me, but interestingly, my mother brushed that aside.
Instead, she said “because when you get old you won't have any siblings or cousins to help you.”
I... Had not been expecting that. So I sat there, not liking where the conversation had gone but not doing anything about it. I just put it aside to rant about later (this is that) and moved on with my evening
But I've come back to it now.
I'm not mad at my mom for telling me that I have to get married. I'm annoyed at my situation and our society for existing in a way where she's right.
I don't have siblings or cousins I'm close with who could help me. The only people I have are my friends, and who knows if I'll still be friends with them? Also, I have maybe one actually aro friend, all the others are highly likely to get into romantic relationships and maybe have children. They'll have their own people to be taking care of. I'm just going to be lower priority, that's how our society works. Hell, with the internet the way that it is, there's no guarantee that I would even live in the same area as most of my friends.
And this isn't even just an old age thing. What happens if I need a serious surgery? What person, with their own job and family and life, has the time to spend taking care of their friend for an extended period of time? I mean, I might, but I don't have the whole romance thing getting in the way.
I realize that I'm being pessimistic and that I should probably have more faith in both my friends and the way the world works. I'm just frustrated that because we place so much more emphasis on romance than we do friendships, once people start pairing up the friendships get left behind a little bit. I'm frustrated that you could make an argument that I might have to get married, not because I truly want to, but for the sake of my own health and comfort in the future. I'm frustrated that someone can say something as uncomfortable to me as “you have to get married,” and still have a decent point.
Again, I'm being a pessimist and I'm not mad at my mom. Or my dad.
…I need more irl aro friends.

“One, two, three, four,” Carolina’s red cape fluttered behind her each time she raised her arm to grab another bottle of wine from the shelf. She had her hand on the fifth when she paused. “Five? Is five necessary? Maybe four will do... I can’t be the only one bringing wine... and I’m not just saying this because my shopping basket is so freaking heavy...”
She could feel the weight of someone’s stare as she continued the animated conversation with herself. Turning her head quickly , she found a mildly amused shopper looking her way.
“My friends like wine,” Carolina shrugged. “A lot, actually... but... this is getting heavy, and I need to make a decision. I don’t normally talk to myself like this!” As the shopper shuffled away, Carolina yelled after her. “I don’t! I really don’t... I’m a very sane person! Totally sane... except... for right now.”
She let out a snort imagining how ridiculous she must have looked... Little Red Riding Hood standing in the middle of an aisle at Westside Market, rambling aimlessly about how much alcohol she needed to buy while declaring herself sane. New Yorkers were used to unusual sights, but she didn’t blame the woman for rushing away.
She looked at her watch with a frown. They were already twenty minutes late for Ruby and Luke's party and still had midtown traffic to grapple with, so she set off to find Trystan, still talking to herself as she turned her neck to look down each aisle.
“Trystan, where are you?” Though she was actively looking for him, her heart still skipped a beat when a big, furry paw landed on her shoulder.
“Trystan!” she startled, “you scared the shit out of me.”
“There is no Trystan,” he snickered, playfully pulling her close. “Only the Big Bad Wolf..uh.. no.. I mean Grandma! I’m Grandma, trust me.”
“Grandma? What big paws you have!” she beamed as he nuzzled into her neck and playfully growled.
“The better to paw you with, my dear...”
“Well, you can paw me once we get to the party. We’re very late.”
She went to reach for his hand, bursting into laughter when she saw the contents in his basket. “What are you buying?”
“Sausage and whipped cream,” he answered matter-of-factly.
Rubbing the bridge of her nose, Caroline winced. “Sausage... and whipped cream?”
“Yes. Ruby asked me to pick up chorizo, and there is no way I’m partaking in Luke’s pumpkin pie without the benefit of whipped cream. What do you take me for? A heathen?"
“But, Trystan... we’re walking up to the cashier to purchase a lot of wine, an obscenely large chorizo... and whipped cream.... how does that look?”
“Like we’re on our way to one hell of a party,” he winked.
“Why don’t we stop on aisle five and throw in some Vaseline. That should give the staff something to talk about for hours, maybe days, to come!”
“Aisle five, you say?” he said, grabbing her hand.
“Can we forget I mentioned that?”
But his impish grin gave her all the answers she needed.
“I should know better by now,” she sighed.
~~~~~
Carolina was lost in thought as they waited on the barely moving line. Trystan scrunched his nose to wordlessly to inquire about her thoughts.
“I should get more wine,” she insisted. “I mean... you know our friends. This won't be nearly enough.”
“Well, I don’t think this line is going to move anytime soon. Would you like me to run and get more?”
“No, you wait here,” she insisted. “I’ll go.”
“Just be quick,” he smiled. “It's dangerous out in the woods.”
“I know!” She said with wide eyes. “We even have Drakovian wolves now!"
“Oh! The worst kind!” he scoffed, patting her bottom quickly as she rushed off, his eyes never leaving her until she was out of sight. He turned back to face the front of the line and met the disapproving gaze of an elderly woman in front of him.
“It's OK," Trystan insisted. "She’s my girlfriend, that was perfectly acceptable behavior.”
Not sure she was satisfied with his answer, he pulled out his phone to check messages. He was lost in thought when...
“Freeze!” A masked man wearing an undistinguishable costume yelled as he launched at the cashier, gun blazing.
The teenage girl at the register began to scream.
“Shut the hell up and keep your hands where I can see ‘em... then no one gets hurt!”
Suddenly, another man dressed as Chewbacca whipped around and pointed a gun at the customers waiting in line.
“Don’t any of you get any ideas either!”
Trystan held up his hands with a roll of his eyes. “This behavior is so unbecoming of a Wookie.”
But his bravado depleted at once when the man cocked his pistol and aimed it at Trystan.
“Think you’re funny there, Scar?"
"Scar? No...I'm the Big Bad Wolf."
"SHUT UP!!! One more out of you, and you’ll be laughing at the morgue.”
Back at the register, the young cashier nervously tossed cash into a shopping bag as the robber was losing patience.
“Make it quick, Blondie! We don’t have all day!”
The old woman in front of Trystan began to hyperventilate and appeared to lose her balance.
Trystan reached out to touch her arm. “It’s going to be all right,” he whispered; but his sudden movement jarred the Wookie assailant, who fired a shot in the air.
“I SAID DON’T FUCKING MOVE! DON’T MAKE ME DO SOMETHING I DON’T WANT TO DO!”
But eyes lit up when he caught a flash of light from the old woman’s direction.
“Well,” he let out a slow whistle. “That’s one hell of a diamond ring you’ve got there... hand it over!”
“No..." she cried. "I’ll give you all my money, but not this! Please! My Harry gave this to me for our fortieth anniversary! I remember him every time I see it!"
“Lady, unless you want to join Harry tonight, HAND IT OVER.”
Trystan clenched his teeth as the old woman tearfully removed the ring from her finger; that’s when he locked eyes with Carolina. A knowing look passed between them, and she gently nodded, mouthing the words... one... two... three....
Carolina rushed to the register, raising a bottle of wine high above her head, breaking it over the gunman’s head. Meanwhile, Trystan charged Chewbacca. He wailed as Trystan twisted his arm in an inhuman position until his gun fell to the floor. The first man began coming to and attempted to reach for the fallen weapon...
“Oh, no, you fucking don’t!” Carolina yelled as another bottle of wine crashed into his temple.
Trystan sat atop the other man to hold him in place. But when the police arrived, they took aim at Trystan.
“NO!” Carolina yelled. “The Big Bad Wolf is the good guy! He's with me. Chewbacca is the one you want!”
“My mistake,” the officer nodded. “The call just said a hairy beast was one of the assailants."
"It's OK," Carolina smirked. "It’s not every day we see the Big Bad Wolf and Chewbacca wrestling on the floor!”
“Wrestling?” Trystan spat. “There was no wrestling! I had this second-rate mongrel fully under control!”
“Of course, you did, dear,” Carolina smiled as the other officer took the wine-battered criminal off her hands.
The officer couldn't help but laugh. “It’s not every day you see Red and the Big Bad Wolf taking out the bad guys, either.”
“Hey, it’s New York,” Carolina shrugged. “You never know what you’ll see... especially on Halloween.”
With that, she turned to the wine-battered criminal. “Speaking of which... what the hell is your costume? I can't even tell what you were supposed to be."
“Sinatra!” The man answered bitterly.
“Sin... SINATRA! Frank Sinatra!” Carolina spat. “If I had known that, I would have hit harder! How dare you disparage Frank like that!”
“Do you have a thing for Sinatra?” Trystan questioned. “Perhaps I should have chosen my costume more carefully.”
“Sinatra was one of my father’s favorites,” she smiled softly. “And this SOB has the audacity....”
“Detective Rose,” the officer interrupted. “We need to take your statement.”
“Oh, of course,” she said as Trystan's phone rang.
“It shouldn’t be long. Then you two kids can head back to grandma’s house.”
As the officer took out his notepad, he and Carolina heard bits and pieces of Trystan's conversation.
“I know you’re desperate for the chorizo... we stopped a robbery.... yes, a robbery.... we’re fine... we’ll be leaving shortly... I have whipped cream, too.”
Carolina shook her head. “Whenever I'm with you, it seems words I could never have imagined in the same sentence all just meld together."
"I'm confident I'm not the first person to say chorizo, whipped cream, and robbery in the same breath."
"I don't know," the police officer muttered. "I think you might be."
After wrapping things up, the store manager came over to thank the couple, insisting they take their order for free. As they made their way out into the cold, moonlit night, Trystan suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"We just can't have a normal night out, can we?”
“Hon, this is normal for us,” she smiled, reaching up to kiss his cheek. “Now, keep moving. Luke is desperate for his chorizo.”
"Talk about words I'd never hear strung together," he laughed.
It was a Halloween they'd never forget. 🎃
•••
It's been weeks, Daisy noticed, that Ruggie Bucchi, the greediest person she knew, had started sharing his food with her. Granted, he wasn't sharing his actual meal, but everytime he somehow could get his hands on a dessert, especially if they were pumpkin flavored, he would always give them to her.
Sometimes Daisy thought he went out of his way to get his hands on said desserts just for her, but that was an obscure theory that Daisy was ashamed of even pondering.
That all happened after the incident with Azul and his contract with Daisy, and the sharing of desserts was only the beginning. She also noticed how he started being… more gentle with her. If he happened to be around, he’d hold the door open for her; if her hair happened to be a mess, he would quickly fix it for her; if he passed by her in the hallways of the school, he would quickly pet her head and continue walking as if nothing had happened. The Ruggie Bucchi, known for being greedy, selfish and for never doing anything for anyone unless he got something in return, was suddenly doing all of this for Daisy… but with what intent?
Initially, Daisy assumed he wanted to somehow make her in debt with him, but he never showed any signs of asking for something in return, nor did he ever voice wanting something from her. Then, she thought maybe she had him in debt with her, but she remembered him saying that his debt for her helping him recover after Leona's overblot had already been paid for him helping her stay in Savanaclaw. Soon she came to the conclusion that maybe she was just thinking too much about all of this. So Ruggie was being nicer to her, what about it?
Except… she couldn't deny her big crush on the hyena beastman. She couldn't deny how endearing she thought he was by always commenting on his beloved grandma, how amazed she was at his hard work and determination and how much his support in the few days she stayed at Savanaclaw meant to her. She couldn't deny any of it.
And she guessed… she thought he was quite handsome as well…
The thing is, Daisy couldn't stop thinking about each and everyone of Ruggie’s small acts of kindness and care, not when every movement of his made her heart skip a beat and her face blush to an unbelievable extent. She kept wondering why he was suddenly like this, so thoughtful and caring around her… yet her brain kept telling her it was probably nothing much, that she was overthinking… he was probably just showing he saw her as a friend. Which she liked to believe she was but… the idea of being seen as only a friend by him was no longer appealing. She hated being so selfish but she wanted to be way more than a friend.
“I’m certain Ruggie’s got a crush on the prefect.” Ace had said once, making Daisy blush as she looked at him with her eyebrows furrowed.
“W-what makes you think that?”
“Daisy, have you ever seen Ruggie be this considerate to literally anyone else? As a guy who's been in a relationship I can tell a crush from a mile away.”
“You have one relationship experience and you ended up ghosting the poor girl, I don't think you have the right to speak.” Deuce retaliated and so a banter started between the two, as Grim laughed at them as he rested on Daisy’s lap.
That one comment made Daisy’s head hurt even more. Did… did Ruggie like her back? If… if so, was this his way of showing it to her? Most importantly, why hasn't he asked her out yet if that was the case?
The blonde was tired, to say the least, so she made up her mind: she would corner Ruggie and ask him straight up what was up with all these confusing signals and if he liked her in return. Yes! She was gonna do it!
…Except it was easier said than done.
“You ain't gonna eat that?” Ruggie said, finishing his sandwich. Him and Daisy ended up finding each other at the botanical gardens, Ruggie seemed to have just given Leona his lunch and was about to have his, and Daisy wanted to eat somewhere less crowded for once. She wanted time to think. “I'm always hungry so I can finish that for ya.”
“No, it's- I'll eat it.” Daisy said, continuing to eat the croissant she was able to buy in the cafeteria earlier that day. It felt like home.
“If you insist. Also, that reminds me.” Ruggie takes out two lollipops from his pockets and hands one to Daisy. She observes it as she finishes chewing on the last bite of her croissant. It was pumpkin flavored. “I found these lollipops at a very cheap price at Sam’s store. I never saw one pumpkin flavored before.” Then, Ruggie unwrapped his own, putting it into his mouth and letting a happy hum escape. Daisy smiled at him as she tried unwrapping her lollipop.
“Thanks, Ruggie. You didn't have to...” she said, her cheeks pink, this was exactly what she was talking about, why would he spend money on a lollipop for her? Sure, it might not be expensive but every bit of money counted for Ruggie… she sighed quietly as she tried but failed to unwrap her lollipop.
“Here.” Ruggie got the lollipop from her hands, unwrapping it and putting the wrap in his pocket until he could throw it away. He put it in front of her mouth and Daisy felt her face warm up as he basically fed her the lollipop. She hated how he didn't even look affected by that.
“Thank you…” she held onto her lollipop for dear life, her face red as she stared at the ground.
“‘tis nothing.” Ruggie chuckled, breaking his lollipop with his teeth with extreme ease. “Simple stuff.”
“But you’ve been doing a lot of simple stuff to me lately…” she tried hinting at what she wanted to say… maybe he would recognize she wanted an explanation so she wouldn't have to deal with having to ask awkward questions.
Ruggie seemed to smile sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. “It's really not that big a deal. I do this kinda stuff for the neighborhood kids back home all the time.”
“Oh.” Daisy felt slightly hurt, did that mean he saw her as nothing more than a friend? Perhaps even a sibling because of how he viewed those kids? “So… Do you just… think of me as those kids? Like, a sister?”
“What? Ew, no.” That thought seemed to disgust him, shown by his sour expression. “I just mean that I'm used to doing this sort of thing.”
“Oh.” she let a small smile escape, relieved at hearing that. She seemed to stop for a moment, wanting to ponder and wonder if asking her question really was worth it… but she knew if she didn't she would go crazy. “Do you… see me as something else then?”
Ruggie looked at her and she saw — or maybe that was her wishful thinking — the faint blush on his cheeks. His ears twitched as he tilted his head.
“What do you mean?”
“Ruggie, do you- uhm…” Daisy breathed in and out, trying to have courage for what she was about to ask. “Do you… like me, or something? I mean… as in, do you have… feelings for me?”
Ruggie went quiet for a moment, as he held onto his lollipop stick and looked ahead, a small wrinkle on his nose and a blush on his cheeks. Did she upset him…? Did… did he feel offended by the idea? Maybe even disgusted at the thought of-
“Yeah.”
Daisy looked at him in shock, her eyes widening as her mouth was open, her lollipop in her hand and the other one gripping the bench they were both sitting on. Did he just- did he admit to having a crush on her? Just like that? That easily?
“Why’d you think I was doing all this, dummy?” Ruggie frowned at her, finger flicking her forehead and she held the place he touched, still very much in awe and confused.
“Then why didn't you tell me anything?”
“I don't know… that's not really in my nature, I guess…” Ruggie scratched his head, embarrassed. “You might not know this because you're a human… but male hyenas usually just… do stuff to get the female’s approval… I was just waiting for you to catch onto the clues.”
“I– R-Ruggie I'm not a beastman, I don't understand this sort of stuff!” She complained, her face unbelievably red as Ruggie chuckled, his own cheeks the same color.
“I know but come on! I thought I was being pretty obvious even for a human!” Daisy puffed out her cheeks, mumbling something under her breath as she tasted her lollipop once again. Ruggie let out his signature laugh and tilted his head, looking fondly at the girl sitting next to him. “Aw, come on, don't be like that, silly.”
“Well… then take me on a date.”
“Huh?”
“I'm tired of beating around the bush.” Daisy explained, she looked at the ground in embarrassment, but she knew if she wanted whatever relationship they could have to work, she needed to continue. “So… take me on a date. Since I like you and… and you seem to like me.”
“You… like me?” Ruggie seemed almost surprised at the thought, his ears twitching and his cheeks pink as he forced an awkward smile. “You mean it?”
“I-I’ve liked you for a while now, that's why I asked what you thought of me… seeing you being so nice to me without an apparent reason was making me very confused.” The blonde tried looking at him, a slight frown on her face as she pouted.
Adorable, was what Ruggie thought.
“Well… I can't take you anywhere fancy.” The hyena beastman said, almost fearful that she would reject him for such a thing, but she simply shook her head and smiled warmly.
“I don't mind. As long as you're there, that's all I need.”
Ruggie’s blue eyes stared at Daisy’s brown ones for a moment, before he burst into laughter, making the girl blush in embarrassment as she frowned at him, saying: “don't laugh!”
“You're too sappy Daisy!”
“If you don't like it then–”
“I do. I like it very much.” He stopped laughing, drying a few years that were starting to show, and Daisy looked at the side, biting her lips. “Alright, I’ll take you on a date.” he got a few strands of her hair, bringing it close to his face as he smiled at her. “If you wish.”
Daisy smiled back, her face red but she didn't mind it anymore. “I’ll be delighted.”
hi sorry this is my first time and i'm a disaster at explaining stuff so i'm sorry if this is gonna be super messy
i'm aroace and i think i knew it since forever but i really dont like labels so i never searched for a name or a flag or something to tell me "yes you're valid and you exist and there are others like you". But i was tired of all the people asking me why and how it was possible that i've never even had a crush on someone so i found this now and it feels really weird. I havent told to everybody yet cause it feels too strange and i also dont know how to introduce the thing so i've said it when it was "natural" in the conversation and now there are 3 people that know.
Except for my grandma because she was the one doing most of the questions and she's really open so i did it hoping that she could understand and stop but she didnt. She's not homophobic at all she always said to me and my brother that if we were gay or lesbian or whatever she was ok with it and the only thing upsetting her was the fact that she couldnt have grankids (like biological ones) but the most important thing was our happines. But she's 80 and apparently "cant understand the idea of me spending my entire life completely alone", she felt sorry for me and started to cry. Now i wish i hadnt tell her anything cause i know her and im sure that now she spends all her days worring of me all alone forever (wich actually sounds like a dream to me but ok) and i dont want that.
Also she said something like "but you're young you still have time to find the right person and you dont know nothing about life". THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS FOR F SAKE. it's like saying to a gay guy that hes actually bi but he just hasnt found the right girl yet. Or same to a straight guy that actually is gay for the same reason. I guess i never know what can happen in your life until you're dead but that doesnt mean that you CANT define yourself (if you really need to) just because "you never know what can happen". its stupid.
And last thing because this thing happened to be way longer than what i thought (sorry) to explain the concept of asexuality to my granma i told her also that some people became ace because of a trauma (i know its not a good explanaition sorry if i offended anyone it was just me trying to make her understand by steps) BUT THAT WASNT MY CASE. Of course the first thing she said after i finished was starting to search in my past the trauma or at least the cause of why i'm like this. At this point i knew i did a giant mistake and i trusted her too much.
I know its not totally her fault, also not mine but now i just feel stupid
Just a rant feel free to ignore.
Fallen into the feelings of social outcast in my home again. Fallen into the feelings of if I call in because I'm sick I'm gonna get fired or if they don't fire me, my supervisor will treat me like trash. I hate ADHD and depression. It's starting to feel like unless I'm screaming about something no one hears me, like I'm just getting lost in the crowd.
I'm the only person who doesn't partake in getting high every day. I'm the only person without a significant other be it romantic or platonic. I feel like the only things that people want to talk about is weed and going to do stuff I don't want to do. I ask to do stuff that I do want to do and I'm told sure and then it never happens.
I wish there was an easy way to make friends that don't make me feel like every choice I ever made was wrong. I wish I didn't hate myself for not having found my person yet, well then again this time last year I thought I did have my people but they chose their oppressive father over the friend who talked them off the ledge so many times before. I'm just disposable, when push comes to shove I fall off or out of view.
I know this is just the anxiety and depression talking and what ever cold thing I have, but I'm really hurting. I don't know how to tell my family I'm feeling this way because they're all so happy and they have every write to be. After all my grandma who's been in and out of the hospital for just under a year came home again today and hopefully she's able to stay longer than a week.
Don't get me wrong I'm happy she's home too, but my brain is beating itself up. I feel guilty for being upset and depressed about things that I can easily change by just talking when such good things are happening around me. I really want to just smile and laugh and enjoy spending time with the people I care about, but it feels like I'm too different from all of them.
I like anime and manga (my current hyper fixations), I'm also really into very specific kinds of games ones with story but also a lot of free reign to do what I want. While my family (mom & dad, brother &his fiance) all like to sit outside and smoke weed getting high and playing more story focused games, or going to play disc golf, or talking about my brothers wedding that he says probably won't happen for a while because of money and the state of the world which makes sense. It's just I can't relate, I've tried too but I just can't. I've taken edibles before and don't like how they make me feel, I can't play games where there's so much story every step of the game is already mapped out and no matter what you can't avoid it, and I don't like being outside and I'm sure disc golf may be fun for them but at the end of the day I'm just a fifth wheel in there group of two couples.
They have all tried to include me and there are days where I feel like I'm part of the group and not just someone asked to come along out of respect or obligation. But as of late I just feel like a burden. I feel like if I say this I'll bring everyone down.
I just wish I was different and hadn't lost so many friends in the last year (like 6 or 7 if I'm counting right). I wish I wasn't on the ace spectrum sometimes so I could relate and have a significant other to go do things with, but at the end of the day I'm just me.
I'm just a 21 year old, nonbinary person, who likes to be alone but also wants to be part of the group. I'm just an ace person who doesn't understand what it's like to have that one person who knows everything about you and you know everything about them. I'm just a nerd who is too picky to try new shows and games that don't fit a specific category. I'm just a person ment to have only online friends. I'm just a person who is just barely serving in a world where everything is difficult.
Where do you need peace? 🕊🧿🤍
You have been dealing with some heavy shit, Wing. You need to find peace in three areas that are connected to each other: remembering those you love, preparing mentally for the long lonely road ahead, and maintaining hope. You have to settle your mind on these efforts. I see a lot of imagery of your shine being stuck in a cage or behind bars. It’s like you shine so bright but you are so weighed down by the troubles around you that your light is trapped. Some of you could be in a relationship that is inhibiting you. You have a ton on your plate. You have been unintentionally left to carry everyone’s issues and you are wearing down quickly. I think perhaps for some of you somebody might have gone to jail or passed away and I can feel you carrying the burdens of others around you. Either way you didn’t get closure on a situation or justice isn’t being served correctly or something didn’t turn out the way it should have and feels like a cosmic joke. It feels like you are trying to find a way to remember those that were involved in this situation with you. You lost your rose colored glasses. Now you have to make peace with the cold hard facts and long road of life. You have to make peace with losing some people and carrying them with you energetically or symbolically. Physically, connect more with those you are missing if possible or connect with them energetically. For some of you, it’s asking you to let this connection go but remember the lessons. To make peace with unfair loss and remembrance, engage in a joyous celebration with dance and music and speaking that connects you to your loved ones and ancestors in the singular universe. Your guides and ancestors are reminding you that you are connected asf and to draw on that MORE. Tie yourself to them. They will be with you always. They will help remove the weight and create peace. You need to make peace with the fact that closure doesn’t exist and you have to find your own way of accepting and moving forward.
Pile II ~ Bell
White Willow, Red Clover, Yarrow, Burdock, Death, Ace of Coins, Strength, Ace of Swords, The Hierophant, Sun rx, 6 of Cups rx, 8 of Coins, Queen of Cups, Healing (Strength)
Wow, Bell. I’m tuned into you. I’m sorry, I feel your heart is sore. I’m going to get on with the reading but I just have to say I felt a wise older woman or grandma like presence here in the reading, maybe somebody that recently passed away for one or a few of you but they were a kind, wise, bright shining person. They were connected. I see you are dealing with Death, Bell, whether literally or figuratively. You need a lot of peace. This coming Leo Full Moon is going to be a time for you to really go after what you want and get that peace inside. Bell, you are really hurting in your heart, either from a recent death or somebody leaving your life or you are hurting because the universe is pushing you to release yourself from being a workhorse and overloaded with meaningless jobs. The universe is asking you to care for your heart and center and ground yourself right now. It says “I know this is hard”. The universe is a teacher, not a babysitter. You may want to try and protect yourself spiritually or financially if you are planning on finding a new job or passion. You may tap into your social resources as well if you are hurting. It wants some of you to come into a different mindset: one of abundance in being yourself or showing your true colors. You don’t have to be scared. But it is scary because this is a very final type of cycle. There is no going back after this, life has been changed forever. Bell, please you are stronger than you know. You feel what lights up your whole body and feels right. Stop fighting what life is pushing you towards. This is pushing you to a new way of looking at your world and can even be a huge spiritual awakening for yourself. The Hierophant is a hard card. It hurts because it’s tough love. It’s when the universe keeps teaching you the same hard lesson over and over again until you fucking learn it. But once you do, it is a spiritual leveling up. In order to heal you must listen. This is happening because of two reasons: half of you have experienced some kind of loss of somebody or thing that was a bright spot in your life, even since you were a child. The other half of you have a deep passion or fire feeling in your heart that you have been denying by following the stable “work your life away” mindset of others on a lower plane. All of this is making you feel overflowed with too much emotion. Your heart has been through so much. But all of this emotion doesn’t feel bad. It feels like an overflow of love, passion, and kindness and sometimes we are in pain because of that. This is what you can do to move forward and find peace: To heal is to feel love and connection for yourself and everything else around you, even that which you cannot see. You have to take time to heal. You become stronger through boundary-less self love, Bell. What would you do to become connected and be happy?
Pile III ~ Eye
Marshmallow, Valerian, 9 of Swords rx, King of Wands, 5 of Cups, 8 of Wands, 3 of Wands, Justice rx, 2 of Cups, Harvest (Wheel of Fortune), Guide Card
Oh shit, Eye. You need to make peace with the fact that you’re standing in your own way right now. Face it. You’ve been overcome with negativity and rigidity and control lately. What you need is a little sweetness and a nap. You’ve got yourself wrapped up in energies that make you forget your connection to the whole. You feel like you need control, you don’t like losing, you focus more on your losses than your wins. And you move quick. For most of you this feels like just energy, but some of you could be hopping romantic relationships. You’re never satisfied. You feel this way because you’re always looking for more or better or newer or prettier. You feel like you are owed or deserve something. Or maybe you feel like something was ripped from you. Maybe something was ripped from you. Life still has to go on and you still have to be happy. When you can make peace with this, the universe will start giving back to you the love you pour into it. Things will work out but you have to pour the first cup. For some of you, when you let go of wanting more you will find a person who is your match. Life is nothing but chance sometimes. You have to hang on for dear life when you’re down and fucking ENJOY EVERY MOMENT WHEN YOU’RE UP. Enjoy what you’ve harvested. Find gratefulness and enjoyment. The cards are asking you to find harmony with the universe. You might want to try starting your day with a mantra that means something to you in the mirror like: “I am grateful for all that the universe gives me and I give love freely.” Anything that resonates with you. Stand up, Eye, and leave the anger and sadness on the floor. Find love and enjoyment in yourself.
Mugwort, Rose, 8 of Coins, Ace of Swords, 8 of Wands, Knight of Pentacles rx, Sun rx, 2 of Pentacles, 8 of Cups, Strength, 6 of Cups, Devil, Exemplar of Stones (Queen of Pentacles), Balance (Justice)
What the fuck Bluet. My cards are literally screaming at me. What is going on with you. Balance, infinity? 8, cycles, what is going on. This means something to all of you in your situations right now. You might be having sleep issues or scary dreams or subconscious things coming up right now. You need peace in your dreams or subconscious. You might have mental health issues that you’re struggling with. You are operating in secret or silence right now, just for a bit. You’ve just ended or are about to end a cycle within yourself, Bluet. You’ve opened yourself. There are certain heavy and pulling cycles that have been blocking your third eye sight severely. This cycle could involve another person, maybe from childhood or even a present day lover. You’ve forced things open and left things behind. You deserve to be up for a while. Just know that you can stab through the center of a circle and it will still be intact. Some of you need to make peace with the fact that you have this cycle and others need to make peace that they need balance in their life and they press forward on everything. Money and work isn’t everything @ half of you, Bluet. You may want to look at finding a therapist if banishing these cycles is a really hard feeling for you to deal with. The passage of time is distorted lately. Everything seems distorted lately for you. Confronting all of this triggers something very scary for you. It’s like that fear instinct. It might be something from family or childhood fears that were instilled in you. The universe is asking you to find balance. So many circles, everything goes around comes around, cycles never ending. In order to find balance you must stop fighting time and entering the same cycles. You must sit and be abundant. Stop and dream for a second. Have the love and courage to believe them. You must accept what life gives you and learn to become your own mother. Leave that blockage behind and find balance in yourself. Jeez, sorry that was a little messy I was just getting a ridiculous amount of messages from you.
Ok ok your SilkWing AU is already top tier. Diantha and Lance would definitely be great parents towards Iris and Silver
But what about aunt Clair? Uncle Augustine? Grandma Drasna??
We all know Clair kicked in the door to Lance’s house to meet her new niece. Then did the same thing to meet her nephew
I’m gonna place my bets and say Drasna cried when meeting Iris. Saying how she’s a grandma now and she’s going to spoil Iris the way she never got to with Diantha
Also you are so true. Lance and Diantha raised him to be respectful and he is, but it’s in his blood to be a piece of shit when the time is right
Oh definitely, Clair just barges in their house all "I HEARD I HAVE A NIECE NOW!"
"Clair, please be quiet—"
"where is my niece, cousin. I have to meet her. I already have a little Deino here with me to give her, it should be her first Pokémon, courtesy of her best aunt of course"
"Clair, she's still two years old, she still doesn't— ugh, nevermind, she's upstairs with Diantha"
Clair would cry too fr, she sees Iris for the first time, Iris smiles up at her, and she's already bawling giving her the pokeball containing Deino all "I have a gift for you, Iris, I'm sure you're gonna train it soon to be a strong Hydreigon, and then you can beat your dad and be Champion"
Diantha just smiles at her, all "Clair my dear, I think it's best you give that to her on her tenth birthday, I don't think Iris can train a Pokémon just yet"
"..fine. But this should be her first Pokémon! Tell Lance that, I'm sure he's gonna give her a Dratini." Dia laughed at that but told her that sure, she'll tell that to Lance and just yknow it's all soft and such, Lance never saw Clair this soft and gentle before yknow, it's nice
Bet the moment she heard they have Silver now, aka her new nephew, she gave him a Larvitar instead, going on how "it's not a Dragon, but I think it's only fair since Iris already has a Dragon type, so Silver's Pokémon should be something else, like Diantha's."
"..sure, Clair."
Also it'd be cool if Tyranitar is his ace in this au, bc Tyra can Mega Evolve yknow
God Augustine was over the moon as well, he's like so excited he's an uncle now, imagine him just telling the kids stories abt Dia tho, and just chmdnd him telling the kids abt Mega Evolution, and that's how they discovered abt the mega stones and such yknow, and Silver was so interested in it he wanted a mega stone too, he wanted his Larvitar to mega evolve, and Augustine just laughs and smiles at him, ruffling his hair, "soon, my boy, when your Larvitar becomes a Tyranitar, it can mega evolve like your mother's Gardevoir" and it got Silver so excited he already wanted to train his Larvitar to evolve hahah
Drasna would tho for fucking real cjxmdn like she's the grandma everyone wants hahaha she'd spoil them rotten, imagine how excited she was meeting Iris and only for a year later she meets Silver and she's there hugging the two of them tight all "my grandbabies!" W tears in her eyes. Dia leaves them w Drasna for a bit while she does her Champion duties or acting gigs for a bit, and Drasna's already off w the kids heading to Lumiose before Diantha can give a list on what to do, but hey she trusts Drasna so at least hahah
She def finds Silver's personality endearing too, reminds her back then when Diantha was also so insistent she'd be strong like LucarioMan, but Silver was all "I wanna be strong like mom, I wanna be the Champion too!"
"me too! Wanna be Champion!"
And Drasna's there hand over her chest, god these two are just so cute, and she goes "I'm sure you two will be champions in the future! Who knows, one of you might be Kalos' next Champion!" And that got the kids excited and just cnmxnd your honour please this au is so fucking soft bvdmnd
I don’t think your still answering asks about 2017/18 newsies fandom but what’s the deal with the aphobia? Did it come from something specific? I’m ace and my biggest thing is headcanoning Davey as ace and i just completely didn’t know about this
I mean, I don't have much more to say about the fandom from back then, but I'll answer an ask or two about it here and there if people are really interested!
Basically, from what I personally saw most of the aphobia in the fandom back then stemmed from misplaced accusations of ableism. Sometimes (but not always) if people said they headcanoned Crutchie as being ace or wrote something where he was ace, a small but vocal group of people in the fandom would say that you shouldn't headcanon Crutchie as ace because it was infantilizing and ableist to disabled people. And then actual a-spec people in the fandom (some of whom were also disabled!) had to step in and be like "um, no, that's not how that works, you're just being aphobic."
Also on a kind of related note, there was also a lot of NSFW blogs run by minors writing stuff about the underage Newsies characters, which is a whole can of worms that I am not interested in getting into, but certain portions of the fandom were a little... hypersexualized, if that makes sense? And I'm not trying to say that the people who ran those blogs were explicitly aphobic or anything, it just felt to me at the time (and I think there were some others who agreed with me) that ace people were being pushed out of the fandom a little bit if we tried to talk or write about our experiences.
I do want to make a point to say, though, that I personally only saw this stuff happen from when I first came on Tumblr in late 2017 to around late 2018/early 2019, and then most of the people who were involved either left or became less vocal. I'm not sure how long it was going on for before I joined, but it died out fairly quickly after I got more involved in the fandom thankfully. I also want to say that those people weren't the majority of people in the fandom at all, they just happened to be annoyingly vocal in the particular corner of the fandom that I was in. I actually was only able to figure out that I was ace because of some amazing, super supportive a-spec people in the fandom at the time, so I really have only good things to say about my experience here so far.
So yeah. Like I said, they all seem to have left from what I can tell, so you go right ahead and headcanon Davey as ace all you want!! I think that's super awesome, and if anyone gives you trouble just send them over here to your resident asexual newsies fandom grandma and I'll soak 'em for ya!
When I Run Away (You're Who I Run To): Chapter 20
main post read on ao3
Word Count (Chapter): 3,625
NOTES: i do think a lot about yaz's family… the way she's so close with her grandma but neither of her parents seem to know about her running away/suicide attempt? there are some complicated dynamics there that the show doesn't really seem to notice or address.
They booked train tickets, then a hotel room. Rose went and knocked on Ace’s door and gave her a set of keys— there wasn’t much in Sheffield that Rose’s keys could unlock, after all. And then Rose threw together a meal that Yaz barely ate, and then they got in bed and Yaz barely slept, and early the next morning they met a yawning Penny just outside the bakery, with coffee they’d bought from Ace seconds earlier. It was a quick cab ride to the train station, and from there a short wait until the train pulled up. Train staff helped Penny lift her bag onto the train, and Yaz climbed the stairs after her, Rose just behind. They sat three in a row, Penny at the window, Rose at the aisle, Yaz in the middle. She’d asked to sit in the middle— there was something about being surrounded by her people that made her feel better.
It wasn’t a very long train ride, but it was long enough for Yaz’s worry to build up in her, to mount with nowhere to go. She couldn’t start crying on a train car; she especially couldn’t start crying when she was about to see her entire family. So she gripped Rose’s hand and let her head rest against Rose’s shoulder, and she waited for the train to stop in Sheffield.
Her dad met them at the train station. Yaz hadn’t expected it— she’d sent Sonya the train and hotel details, but she’d thought everyone would be too preoccupied to actually show up. But her dad was there, looking tired, his eyes darting from Yaz to Rose and then finally to Penny, frowning as Rose helped her down from the train.
“You didn’t say you had a third person,” he said.
“Er— sorry.” Yaz glanced at Penny. “It was sort of last minute. She’s trying to keep herself away from abusive family. Needed to get out of London. And then Rose and I were coming here— I thought—” She shrugged. “Plan was for her to hang out downtown or something.”
“Yaz,” her dad said. “You can’t leave your friend like that. We’ll find room for her.”
“I really don’t want to intrude,” Penny said. She was leaning on her cane, suitcase trailing behind her. “Honestly.”
“No intrusion,” Yaz’s dad said. “Can’t say we’re all that much fun right now, of course. But honestly, Najia’s whole family’s sitting in our flat right now, worried out of their minds. It’ll be good for everyone to have some people around who aren’t worrying.”
“You sure about that?” Yaz asked. She glanced at Penny. “Penny, you don’t have to sit around my worried family all day, either.”
“I don’t mind,” Penny said immediately. “I’m good with that sort of thing.”
“And,” Yaz’s dad added, “if you’re important enough to Yaz that she let you come, I’m sure you’re the sort of person the family would like to meet.”
“Dad.”
Yaz’s dad flung his hands in the air. “What? It’s true!”
“Fine.” Yaz looked from Penny to her dad. “Dad, this is Penny. She runs the bakery across from our shop. Penny, this is my dad.”
“Please, call me Hakim.” Yaz’s dad shook Penny’s hand.
“Very pleased to meet you, Hakim,” Penny said.
“You too.” Yaz’s dad looked around at all three of them. “Now, can I take anyone’s bags?”
Five minutes later, they were in the car. The plan was to check in at the hotel, then go right to the hospital. Yaz’s nan was still asleep, but relatively stable, and they were allowing visitors a few at a time: Yaz would be able to go in and see her.
“She’s looking better,” Yaz’s dad said as they pulled away from the train station. “They think she’ll pull through.”
“That’s good.” Yaz was gripping the armrests of the front seat. “How long—”
“We don’t know yet. We’re hoping she’ll wake up today, but she’ll be in the hospital for a while.”
Yaz nodded. She wished she was sitting in the backseat with Rose and Penny, where at least she could’ve held someone’s hand, but that would've put her dad in an awkward position, and she was already putting him in an awkward position by having Penny along to begin with. And as much as Rose was there for Yaz, Yaz was there for her family. Mostly her nan, of course, but with her nan came aunts and uncles and cousins, not to mention her parents and sister. So she sat in the front seat, every muscle tensed.
At the hotel, Rose checked in, and Yaz's dad waited in the lobby as Yaz, Rose, and Penny went to drop their stuff in their room. The second they were inside, Yaz dropped down onto one of the beds, her emotions threatening to spill over.
Rose was next to her in a second, holding her hand, and then Penny was awkwardly perched on her other side, hovering a good foot away. Yaz reached for her hand too.
“Penny,” she said, “you don't have to come if you don't want to. Whatever my dad says.”
“I can come,” Penny said. “But, Yaz, do you want me to?”
Yaz floundered. “I— I don't know.”
“Yaz,” Penny said, her voice low, “I know you just invited me to help me get away from my mum, but I do want to support you. In any way I can.”
“I just—” Yaz shook her head. “I feel like I put you in an awkward position.” She sighed. “It was probably going to be awkward no matter what. I didn't think it through.”
“You were worried,” Penny said. Her hand was still warm in Yaz's.
“I—” Yaz looked down. “I think I’d like it. If you came.” She glanced at Penny. “If it’s not— I mean, won’t it be exhausting for you?”
Penny shrugged. “Not like I have anything else I’m supposed to be doing. Just as long as I’ve got a place to sit down.”
“No shortage of that in a waiting room,” Yaz said. She hesitated. “Well, there might be, if my whole family’s there. Still.”
Penny squeezed her hand. “Yasmin Khan, it would be my honor to accompany you.”
Yaz almost laughed at that. “All right. Then I’d like to have you.” She glanced at Rose. “Both of you.” She pushed herself to her feet, and Rose and Penny came with her. Yaz took a deep breath, Rose’s hand at the small of her back, and together they stepped back out into the hallway.
Yaz’s dad was in an armchair in the lobby, looking at his phone. When Yaz and Rose and Penny reentered, he looked up.
“All set?”
Yaz nodded.
“Great. Let’s go.”
They loaded back into the car, and Yaz’s dad drove them the few blocks to the hospital. The parking lot was huge, and for half a second Yaz was worried about Penny, but Penny was on top of it—
“I’ve got a badge,” she said, extending it to the front seat. “So we can park closer to the door.”
“Oh, she comes with better parking!” Yaz’s dad crowed. He elbowed at Yaz. “You’ve found a good one.”
Yaz rolled her eyes. “I don’t pick my friends for their access to parking, Dad.”
“I would,” Penny said, leaning back again. “If I didn’t have it myself. It’s proper useful.” She paused. “Although maybe I just say that ‘cause I get tired walking across the parking lot.”
Yaz glanced back. “Which would be why you’ve got the badge to begin with.”
“Suppose so,” Penny said cheerfully. “Proper hassle to get, and all. And I never even go anywhere by car. We're all lucky I didn't forget it.”
Yaz’s dad had pulled into a parking spot, and now he unbuckled his seatbelt and turned to Yaz. “You ready?”
Yaz closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and nodded. “Yeah.”
Her dad patted her arm. “All right. Let’s go.”
The hospital was overwhelming right from the start. Bright lights, white walls, nurses pushing patients through on beds. Yaz’s dad didn’t take notice— he marched through, assuming Yaz would follow, and Yaz did, albeit just a little bit slower, and with an iron grip on Rose’s hand. By the time they actually got to her nan’s ward, Yaz was holding Penny’s hand, too, and Rose’s arm was properly around her waist.
The waiting room had a good number of people, milling about, but Yaz’s family was easy to find: a whole group was clustered in one corner, talking to each other in overlapping English and Punjabi, all at once. Sonya was just at the edge, sitting with her boyfriend, Ryan, and looking about as worried as Yaz had ever seen her: she tended to put on a front, and although Yaz could spot most of her tells, she didn’t make it easy.
“I’ve got Yasmin,” Yaz’s dad said, stepping into the fray. “And she’s brought friends.”
Yaz didn’t miss Sonya’s raised eyebrow, or her glance at Yaz’s and Penny’s joined hands. Yaz made eye contact with her, shook her head slightly. Sonya gave her a look.
“Where’s your mum?” Yaz’s dad added, looking at Sonya.
“Inside,” Sonya said. “Still.”
Slowly, Yaz stepped away from Penny and Rose. “Can I—”
“Yes, of course,” her aunt Karima said, leaning forward. “I’ll take you.” She pushed herself to her feet, and Yaz looked back to Penny and Rose.
“Will you two be okay out here?”
“‘Course we will,” Rose said. She pulled Yaz into a one-armed hug. “We’ll be right here. Yeah?”
“Okay.” Yaz stepped away, letting her aunt pull her into a hug.
“We’ve missed you around here, Yasmin.”
“Sorry,” Yaz said weakly. “Been busy.”
“That’s all right. You’re here when it counts.” Her aunt pulled back. “Come on, I’ll take you in.”
Yaz followed her aunt through the halls, her hands stuffed in her jacket pockets.
“Now, she’s still asleep,” her aunt said, “but they say she’s doing well. They won’t let too many of us in at a time, but it’s just your mum in there now, so we should be all right.”
Yaz swallowed the lump in her throat. “Okay.”
Her aunt led her to a door and knocked twice. A nurse opened it.
“Family?” she asked.
Yaz’s aunt nodded. The nurse pulled the door further open, and Yaz stepped in.
Her nani looked small. That was her first thought. Someone who always filled so much space, in all the best ways— but now she was dwarfed by the hospital bed and the oxygen mask and the beeping and the IV tube, and Yaz almost couldn’t stand it.
“Yaz.” It was her mum, getting up from her chair by the side of the bed. She pulled Yaz into a hug.
“Hi.” Yaz stepped back. Her mum looked tired— exhausted, really, in a way that made her look small too. Yaz didn’t know what to do with that. “How is she?”
“Oh, Yasmin.” Yaz’s mum shook her head. “It’s— it’s been a bit touch and go. We think she’ll be all right, but—”
“Yeah.” Yaz looked back at her nan. “Can I— stay for a bit?”
“Of course you can, love.” Her mum put a hand on her shoulder. “Do you want to be on your own?”
“No,” Yaz said. “Not really.”
“All right.” Her mum sat back down.
Yaz stood next to her nan’s bed, looking down at her prone form. She couldn’t even figure out what all she was feeling right now: she was worried, and maybe sad, but it was all sort of fuzzy, held at a distance. She picked up her nan’s hand, held it in both of hers. She thought about trying to say something, but she couldn't think what— she'd always liked conversation with her nan, but both parties had to be awake for a conversation. Finally, she closed her eyes and muttered a half-remembered prayer. She thought— maybe hoped— she felt her nan’s hand shift, but when she opened her eyes, her nan was still resolutely asleep.
Yaz let out a breath and stepped back.
“All right?” her mum asked, quiet.
“Yeah,” Yaz said. She glanced at her mum. “I think I'm going to go back out. Say a proper hello.”
Her mum eased herself out of her chair. “You know, I'll come with you. Give your auntie Karima a chance.”
Yaz's aunt Karima was still standing by the door. She swapped places with Yaz's mum, and Yaz and her mum stepped out into the hallway.
“So,” her mum said. “How's the shop? How's Rose? You know, you don't call enough.”
“I know,” Yaz said. “Shop’s good. And you can ask Rose how she is when we get back to the waiting room.” She hesitated. “And we've got another friend with us. Penny. She's trying to get away from an abusive family member, and she wasn’t going to come to the hospital, but Dad said—”
“Your father.” Yaz’s mum shook her head. “Probably made the poor girl feel so awkward, didn't he?”
“She's taken it all right.” It was strange to hear Penny referred to as a “poor girl.” “I just wanted to warn you before we got there.”
“I'm glad you have people to support you,” her mum said. She sounded like she was going to say more, but then they rounded the corner into the waiting room, and the family looked up.
“A couple more people can go in,” Yaz's mum said. “Who hasn't seen her yet?”
A couple cousins raised their hands, and Yaz's mum nodded for them to go towards the corridor that led to the rooms. Yaz felt a hand in hers, and then she realized she'd just been standing there, staring into space; the hand belonged to Rose, who led her to the chairs next to Penny. Penny had been engaged in a spirited conversation with Ryan, but when Yaz sat down she whipped her head around, eyes full of concern.
“All right?” she asked.
“How do you feel when we ask you that?” Yaz asked, without malice. Rose had sat down next to her, and she let her head fall on Rose’s shoulder— but somehow, her hand had found its way to Penny’s again.
“That bad?” Penny asked. She squeezed Yaz's hand.
“It'll be all right,” Yaz said. “Probably.” Her own voice sounded distant. She glanced at Penny. “Making friends with Ryan?”
“Oh, yeah, he's brilliant. Gave me loads of ideas for my next alarm clock.”
Yaz managed a smile. “That's good, then.”
“Also,” Penny added, holding up her phone, “Donna and Ace send their love.”
“Thanks.” Yaz closed her eyes.
It felt like hours that she was sitting in that waiting room with Rose and Penny, watching her family members come and go: an uncle would arrive, an aunt would have to go to work, cousins would stop in after school. Yaz barely processed any of it. She was vaguely aware of Rose talking— Rose had been to enough family holidays that she knew most of the people filtering through. And then Rose was introducing Penny, and Penny was maintaining an impressively  constant stream of chatter, all without Yaz having to engage much.
Finally, though, Yaz's mum came out— when had she gone back in? Yaz hadn't been paying attention— and said, softly, “She's awake.”
Yaz sat straight up. “Can we talk to her?”
“Small groups,” her mum said. She glanced around— the crowd in the waiting room had dwindled a little, but there were still more people waiting than would fit in the hospital room. “And not for very long, all right?” She looked at Yaz. “You and Sonya want to come back?”
“Okay.” Yaz stood up. She glanced back at Rose, who gave her a nod. Yaz tried to smile back. She stepped away, Sonya next to her, and their mum led them back.
By the time they reached Yaz’s nan’s room, she and Sonya were holding hands. Yaz couldn’t quite remember how that had happened, but she wasn’t arguing, even when Sonya’s grip went tight as they stepped inside. Their nan was awake, the back of her bed raised to allow her to sit up: she still looked tired and limp, but Yaz could see a hint of the usual spark in her eyes.
“Yasmin,” she croaked. “Sonya. How good to see you.”
“We were worried,” Yaz said.
“I know,” her nan replied. “But I’m not going anywhere just yet.”
Yaz’s laugh came out as more of a sob. She stepped forward, Sonya at her heels. They both reached out at the same time to take their nan’s hand; their fingers wound up overlapping on her skin. For a long moment, none of them said anything. What could Yaz say, to fill this moment? There was nothing that came close to articulating how she felt.
“You’d better not go anywhere,” Sonya finally said. “‘Cause I need you at my wedding, and I don’t think Ryan’s ready to propose.”
Yaz actually laughed at that, and so did her nan.
“Don’t worry,” she said. “These doctors have been good to me so far. I don’t see why I wouldn’t have years ahead of me.” She covered both of their hands with hers, leaning forward as best she could to ask, “Now, what have you two been up to lately? It feels like it's been years.”
“Too long,” Yaz agreed.
“So tell me,” her nan said. “How's the shop?”
Yaz smiled. “It's good. Better than, honestly.”
“Full of blondes?” Sonya asked, with her usual bite.
“Sonya.” Yaz glared at her.
“Oh, have you hired someone new?” her nan asked.
“No,” Yaz said. “Just Amy. And you know Bill.”
“And Rose,” Sonya added.
Yaz rolled her eyes. “You've both known Rose for years.”
“Yeah, and Ryan’s new best friend?” Sonya countered.
“Penny co-owns the bakery across the street,” Yaz said. “Didn't she say?”
“Penny?” their nan asked.
“Friend from London,” Yaz explained. “She came with me and Rose.”
“Oh, Yasmin,” her nan said, “I love that you've built up such a life for yourself in London. Even if I wish you'd come home more often.”
“I should,” Yaz said, and meant it. Her family was stressful, but she didn't see her nan often enough— or Sonya, for that matter.
“Bring your friends,” her nan added. “You know I love to meet the people you love, beti.”
“Thanks, Nani.” Yaz smiled. “I’ll bring Rose in a couple days. Once you’ve had a chance to recover a little, yeah?”
“I would like that.”
“So would Rose,” Yaz said. “She likes you.”
Her nan smiled. “Now, Sonya, what’s new in your life?”
“Nothing interesting,” Sonya said. “Except there’s this girl at my work who I swear is trying to get me fired.”
“Oh?”
And Sonya launched into an explanation of her latest work drama. Yaz nodded and hummed where it was appropriate, but she wasn’t really listening. She was more focused on her nan, terrified with every passing second that something would happen, alarms would go off, and her nan would slip back into sleep— or worse.
But nothing happened. After half an hour, her mum came back and said it might be time for someone else to have a turn, and Yaz and Sonya went back into the waiting room together. Rose was leaning over to play with Yaz’s little cousin Nadira now, and the room had cleared out enough that Penny could lean against Rose and extend her legs across two more chairs as she continued her conversation with Ryan. When Yaz came in, she swung her legs back to the floor and moved over to leave an empty space between her and Rose, and Yaz wasted no time in sitting down. Rose swung Nadira onto her lap, and Yaz smiled.
“Hey, there.”
“Hi, Yasmin!” Nadira looked at her with wide and solemn eyes. “Is Nani okay?”
“Yeah,” Yaz said, taking one of Nadira’s tiny hands in hers. “She’s going to be just fine. Maybe you can go in and see her soon, yeah?”
“I hope so,” Nadira said. “I was really worried.” She paused. “Rose said it was going to be okay. Did you know your friends are really nice?”
“I did,” Yaz said, giving Rose a soft smile. “That’s why I picked them.”
“I have nice friends too,” Nadira said. “But Mum wouldn’t let me bring them here. So I have to share yours.”
Yaz laughed. “Did Rose say that?” It sounded like the sort of thing Rose would tell a kid.
“Might have,” Rose said.
“Right,” Yaz said. “Well, I can’t argue with Rose, then, can I?” She rested her head on Rose’s shoulder.
“Yeah, and remember you said that next time we’re deciding what show to put on,” Rose replied, but she extended an arm around Yaz’s shoulders anyway, brushing a hand across her hair.
“Whatever.”
Yaz let her eyes slip shut. She was vaguely aware of Nadira jumping back off Rose’s lap, her little footsteps taking her back to her mum, and then Rose’s breath against the top of her head as she said, “Are you all right?”
“Might be ready to go,” Yaz said. She’d spent too many hours in the bright lights of this hospital already. “Don’t think they’ll let me in to see her again today.”
“All right.” Rose stood up, taking Yaz with her. “Hey, Penny, you ready to go?”
“Oh!” Penny jumped up, almost stumbling before she caught herself with her cane. “‘Course I am. You all right, Yaz?”
“Yeah,” Yaz said. “Just tired.”
Penny nodded. She grabbed Yaz’s hand, and Yaz felt the warmth radiate up her arm. Rose wrapped her own arm around Yaz’s waist, and together, the three of them left the hospital.
Hello! May i request hcs of how the first years try to win over their crush? Thank you! :)
First Years Trying to Win Over Their Crush!
Tumblr media
will they win your heart?
Ace
Tumblr media
The most obnoxious flirting, the kind that gets him punched in the shoulder by friends. it's not smooth, it's cute and endearing- maybe even a little bit funny.
If you're lucky, he'll get you a bouquet of flowers to give you when he asks you out on a date. if we are extra lucky maybe it's your favorite type of flowers. but if he didn't figure that out he'll probably go with the safe choice of red roses, maybe pink ones if he wants to be extra cute.
On a more casual, less obvious, even Ace doesn't realize what he's doing, level. He hangs out with them, offers to carry their bag, helps them with studying even if he's not good at the subject, eating lunch with them, or like- sharing his pizza specifically.
neither of you have an umbrella and it's raining? he'll give you his jacket so you won't be soaked to the bone at least.
Deuce
Tumblr media
Type of person to scare off people that clearly can't take the hint to leave you alone. But that's the extent of Deuce being spooky. Otherwise, he is very sweet, offers to help you with things all the time.
If you are part of a sports club he'll go support you at practice you know if he isn't busy with track and field. if you're not, then maybe study session hangouts, something where the two of you can just spend time together.
Would and Will do anything you ask of him 90% of the time. oh, you need someone to take notes for you and drop them off to you? no problemo buddy he got you. want him to go get your lunch order so you don't have to wait in that long ass line? he'll do it.
buys you birthday gifts, or like holiday gifts.
Epel
Tumblr media
Takes you to see his grandmother to try her famous apple pie. once you've had it you'll always want to come back for more. always. oh, you want to learn how to make an apple pie that good? that's a family guarded secret. (you'll have to become family to learn it)
So I guess you'll have to suffer with making apple pie that's okay with Epel. will never be as good as grandma Felmier's apple pie
But he'll mostly hang out with you, invite you to go do things together so that they'll be more 'fun'. often giving you small gifts, most of which are food, but not always. he honestly lives by the motto of the quickest way to someone's heart is through their stomach. so It's safe to say he learns your favorite foods and drinks quickly.
he's also the person that does dumb shit to try to impress you. just a "hey (name!) watch this!" does a stupid trick on the broom mid-air. or something of the sort. hopefully, he doesn't do anything too reckless though. wouldn't want to get hurt now.
Jack
Tumblr media
another person who shares his food. wants to make sure you are taking care of yourself and know. will offer to help you come out with a nice workout routine if you wanted.
gets you a little plant friend so you aren't alone when you study. makes sure it's an easy plant to take care of too! and gets the plant a name tag too so you can name it whatever you want!
askes his crush out on a date and makes it clear that it's okay to say no and that you don't have to date him if you think by the end of the date it isn't gonna work out, he gets it.
it's either a cute little coffee date or it's a nice dinner. he definitely saves up and offers to cover the bill. but can be persuaded not to if you'd prefer to cover your half of the bill.
Sebek
Tumblr media
if Ace was obnoxious and obvious with his flirting, Sebek is a train wreck. probably red in the face stuttering on his words struggling to form a sentence that makes sense.
100% embarrassed, does anything to lend a hand and get them to like him. carry their books, help them in class/ studying. like a lost puppy trying to win the affections of the first person that gave them affection.
once he finds the courage to ask his crush out he is gonna be blunt and straightforward about it because he really can't find the right words otherwise.
blunt to the point, a little bit of a mess. a solid effort was made. that's all I can really say, he'd do anything you asked to win your affections. have fun with your head empty Lancelot.
---
I'm trying to refine some of my post formating. so sorry if it looks a little janky. I want it to be easier to read instead of clunky blocks of text stacked on top of each other because having poor eyesight and having dyslexia I understand that it's no fun to read a mess of letters.
anyways I hope you all enjoyed the post.
Trans Guy Tips #4; Socially Transitioning
Now this one is a tricky one, and it's a situation almost every trans person has to go through at some point in their life, unless they stay in the closet for life, but if you're planning to come out, and you don't know how to approach the situation and don't know how to judge if it's safe, I hope I can be a reliable guide for you on this journey.
This is usually the first step in any trans person's journey, before they physically transition, (which some don't as well). However here we're talking specifically about trans men.
So while some of the things I say could apply to trans women, always remember I'm writing about trans men from a trans man's point of view, so that's the targeted demographic here.
Once I learn more about trans women's struggles and things they go through, since I don't have the personal experience of it, I will definitely write trans women articles as well, and as well non-binary people.
So let's begin, with a list of important things to keep in mind whilst coming out to the world or at least to your family and close friends.
1. Safety is everything.
Always no matter what.
A good way to test if someone is going to be safe to come out to, is to casually bring it up in in a conversation topic, something like "What are your thoughts on lgbtq people, or specifically what are your thoughts on trans people?"
If they become aggressive and violent about it, and start being transphobic or defensive or any of the signs of bigotry, do not and I mean do not come out to them yet.
If it's a parent, I'd suggest at least wait until you're of age to move out, or have moved out, to come out to them. Sometimes people will get verbally and physically violent towards you if you come out to them and they're not accepting of it, so the most important thing is to always judge the reactions of people, and if they react well, then you can come out to them.
2. Always choose trustworthy people to keep your secret whilst you're in the closet.
There's been a lot of people who trusted idiots who they thought were their friends and they ended up outing them to the whole school they were in, etc. etc. But there was a lot of stories about this happening multiple times.
Make sure the people you tell would take the secret to their grave, especially if you're in an abusive household and can't come out for fear of violence.
3. If you're in a very abusive household, especially one that's openly homophobic and transphobic, as hard it is, please wait to come out as long as you possibly can until you have a place of your own and you're safe for sure.
A lot of people have been known to kick out their own children on to the streets because of them being LGBT, or do much worse...
Now of course these are some of the worst case scenarios, but being LGBT you always have to think about every bad thing that could occur so that you can prevent it.
4. When it comes to actually coming out, I would always recommend bringing a good friend or close family member who supports you, so that you have backup, not only for them to chime in and tell their piece and defend you, but just them being there makes the other person not want to be as violent towards you, because they fear what others will think of them.
If you're coming out to an extended family member or anyone, don't trust to do it alone, always bring a good friend.
5. One of the best ways to come out that I've seen are ways that are jokey and hilarious!
It seems to smooth over and make it a much more pleasant transition for everyone, and usually even homophobic people won't get too mad, they might even laugh!
I've seen people bake cakes with the words "Surprise I'm gay!" on it, things like that.
Just little cute things that are nice to do for your parents or people you're coming out to, but make it a surprise and that you're actually lgbt!
Now remember though, always follow the first rule and make sure safety is priority, but if you know you're safe, but you're just not sure they understand, starting out with jokes helps a lot.
6. The second step you should do after coming out is always try to explain your side of the story.
If there are people who don't let you get a word in, let them know that you have important things to say and that they need to listen to you and then they can say whatever they need.
Explain how it feels to be trans, explain why you know you're trans, of course you shouldn't have to ideally, but unfortunately a lot of people won't understand unless they're given more information, as the subject is completely foreign to them.
I know my grandma specifically reacted so well, all she did was ask me questions about it, and once I answered all her questions, she hummed in satisfaction and she never questioned it again and completely accepted me.
And a lot of times you'll get people who are pretty neutral, people who will call you by your chosen name and gender but don't really totally care as much as you want them to, but they still go along with it and just kind of assume you know what's best for you, which is a really kind thing really.
I've had a few people react neutrally and it's actually relaxing, there's no pressure put on for being gay, either over positive or over negative. but I have to say as a trans person and gay person, and grey-ace person, I love the people who ask questions the most.
I don't mind answering, and it means they're trying to learn more about something they don't understand, which means they have a huge heart and huge open mind.
Some people may get annoyed at the constant questions, but I absolutely adore them.
To me, every time someone asks about me, they're showing interest in my life and my feelings.
7. Next the scientific method.
Look up on any scientific article anywhere, and you'll find studies done on trans men and women's brains.
It was shown factually multiple times, over and over, whenever they repeated it it did it again, that trans men have the same brain structure as cis men, and trans women have the same brain structure as cis women, and non-binary people have somewhere in the middle. This was factually proven, you can look it up, so if they try to use science to defend against you, educate that that science is actually for LGBT rights and has explained how it works even.
8. Try to be gentle when it comes to pronouns.
For a lot of people, especially people of foreign languages where some languages don't have genders, or will have different genders, or other things like that, or even just English speakers that aren't used to saying 'they', or your family not being used to your pronouns yet.
It can take a while, and I know it's frustrating, it could take even a few years for them to finally get it right every time.
It's not supposed to be an attack towards you, it's genuinely hard to reprogram yourself when you think someone is one thing your whole life and then it turns out they're the other thing! So be sure to be gentle with them while they're practising, remind them every time they make a mistake, but remind them gently, as they are trying to do the right thing, they're just slipping up due to habit.
In general, be patient with non-lgbt folks, if we're mad at them, it just drives them away, rather than driving them toward us to help and assist us.
We should be grateful for our allies.
9. Once you've come out and your parents probably still have questions, I would recommend sitting down and having family night where you read together some good articles about transgenderism, and LGBT+ in general.
If they're not familiar with it, this type of education can help them a lot to understand the terminology and how to address you, and basic respect for trans & lgbtq+ people.
Overall it's a learning experience for both of you, and it would be amazing to do if they're willing to learn.
Remember that it's a journey for all of us, and everyone has a lot to learn.
10. When selecting your name, I have one piece of advice/a question for you; "Does it spark joy?"
The most important thing, it doesn't matter how odd sounding it is, or differently spelled it is, or whatever your name is, if you enjoy your name, that's what matters.
Always pick the one that calls out to you.
And it's okay to change it from time to time, people need time to figure out who they are!
And with that, I conclude my fourth part!
I hope you were helped by this in any way, and thanks for reading.
Note
i’ve been following you for a while, and i thought you were cool. tbh you are. but you’re extremely parasocial with dream, and somehow refuses to criticise him. he can be ambiguous and unlabelled but that doesn’t give him the rights to call gay people disgusting and freaks. even if it’s a joke between the two of them, it’s best to have kept it between the two of them and not say shit like that in public when the public eyes are all on you. “lord have mercy they gave you enough money to build your life off of minecraft youtube compilations not make jokes at the expense of a sexuality you’ve only experienced via fanart where you’re hairless and a bicurious twinkalink.”
i think you're confusing 'not criticizing someone because you don't think that behavior is worthy of criticism' with being parasocial.
because i'll be the first to say that dream doesn't always handle things correctly. he lashes out and makes stupid mistakes and often should step away instead of engaging.
but the thing is, you're assuming a lot of things here.
you're assuming dream hasn't experienced.... well, i'm not sure what you're assuming he hasn't experienced, honestly. like what sexuality are we talking about here? dream isn't straight. he's not gay as in attracted to only men but he's not straight either. he's attracted to women and men. so what, specifically, is he not experiencing?
and why is a joke about idiotic beliefs from the likes of alex jones a bad thing? like we should be mocking people who think like that. why don't we have the right to publicly mock people who think there's some Gay Agenda? something about that feels really weird to me. maybe it's just 'cause i grew up in conservative family and when i used to make jokes like that there were two responses: my grandpa (who was more vocally homophobic) would get pissed at me for making fun of it and my grandma (who played accepting but still thought she'd never see me in heaven) would tell me not to say things like that because it made gay people look bad, taking the low road.
beyond that, i can't count how much homophobia was thrown dream's way today. all these people discounting his identity and telling him he's straight or it doesn't count and it's not valid. like, every single bi or pan or ace person can tell you how much that shit drains you. everyone who has ever identified one way only to change later or who comes out later in life or who never finds a label they're comfortable with can tell you how much that hurts.
but i don't expect to change your mind, anon. not on any of this because we started out with just.... missing the mark of what parasocial is.
Flowers (Valentine’s Day HC)
Fandom: Twisted Wonderland
Pairing: All x gn!Reader, Ortho platonic.
Warning: None
Prompt: Type of flower he would give you on Valentine’s Day.
A/N: Happy Valentine’s Day! 💝
———————————————
Prologue:
You went to get breakfast with Grim, hoping to get a glimpse of your boyfriend. He was nowhere to be found, but when you returned to Ramshackle, you found a gift from him.
———————————————
Tumblr media
Malleus
A bouquet of pink, lavender, and white Gerbera Daisies sat on the living room center table. A pink bow was neatly tied around the stems, holding the bouquet together.
"Today is Valentine's Day, correct? Fufu, human holidays are quite intriguing. Lilia said gifting flowers is a must and asked me to choose carefully. It seems as though each flower has a different meaning. A variety of gerbera daisies in a single bouquet represent innocence, beauty, and cheerfulness. What better flower to gift you? You are always the reason behind my smile, but today, let me be the reason for your smile. ~Malleus Draconia"
Lilia
A simple gray ceramic pot with pink orchids sat in front of the Ramshackle entrance.
"Happy Valentine's Day, my dear! Did you know orchids symbolize love, beauty, and strength? They reminded me of you~ hehe. You're such a lovely and strong person. I don't know if you realize this, but you are the strength of the people around you. Also, don't forget that I will always love you. ~Lilia”
Silver
A single red and pink anemones sat on the dorm's doorstep along with two notes.
"I will protect you forever. ~Silver"
"Hey, it's Lilia. I saw Silver's note and couldn't help myself. That boy didn't even wish you Happy Valentine's Day, nor did he explain the meaning of anemones to you. These flowers symbolize protection, so Silver choose them for you. Also, (Y/N), thank you for being by Silver's side. I couldn't ask for anyone better. ~Your future father-in-law ;)"
Sebek
Grim ran up to the door and picked up a bouquet of white calla lilies. A crimson-colored bow was tightly wrapped around the stems. There were two notes next to the flowers.
"These are for you. ~Sebek"
"Hey, it's Lilia. I feel like I'm going to be spending the whole day trying to fix Silver and Sebek's blunders. These lilies reminded Sebek of you, and he couldn't stop saying how beautiful they looked. Of course, he didn't know I was listening, hehe. I hope you have a good Valentine's Day...let's hope your date with Sebek goes well. Wait, was I suppose to mention the date? Hehe, oh well! ~Lilia"
Tumblr media
Riddle
Riddle gifted you a bouquet of white gardenias in a clear glass vase.
"Happy Valentine's Day. I am not used to giving gifts, so I hope you find these flowers beautiful. I couldn't help but think of your purity when I saw these gardenias. Please come to my dorm when you receive this note. I will be waiting for you. ~Riddle"
Ace
A single pink hydrangea flower sat on the coffee table with a sloppily written note.
"Pretty flowers, don't you think? Trey senpai said something about hydrangeas representing beauty and grace. They kinda remind me of you. Hope you like it! Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day. I'll stop by after classes! ~Your handsome boyfriend Ace"
Deuce
When you returned to Ramshackle, you found a clear vase with a bunch of sunflowers inside.
"Happy Valentine's Day. When I saw these flowers, they reminded me of your smile. Cater senpai told me sunflowers symbolize warmth and happiness, so I thought they were perfect for you. Do you want to...um...go on a..nevermind! See you after classes. ~Deuce"
Trey
Trey gifted you a bouquet of pink peonies wrapped inside a cream-colored gift wrapping tissue paper.
"Happy Valentine's Day, my beloved! These peonies are for you. They represent romance and are good luck charms, bringing fortune to those who receive them. I hope these flowers bring you luck. Don't forget about our date later tonight. Also, I baked your favorite dessert. ~Trey"
Cater
A bouquet of blue iris inside a clear vase sat on the living room table.
"Happy Valentine's Day, my love! Sorry for not giving these flowers to you in person...I have classes. T~T Aren't irises breathtaking flowers? They're rare and unique, like you. <3 I'll see you after classes! Can't wait to go on a date with you!! :* ~XOXO, Cater"
Tumblr media
Leona
You saw a single sugarbush protea sitting in front of the main door with two notes next to it.
"Here. Now come to my dorm, I want to nap with you. ~Leo"
"Happy Valentine's Day, (Y/N)! Leona asked me to deliver this flower to you, and when I saw his note...haha...he's even lazier than usual. Lemme tell you why Leona picked this flower for you. The florist said Proteas represent courage and transformation, and I think Leona's trying to say you're his courage. Shishishi! Don't tell him I said this! He's going to get so mad if he finds out. ~Ruggie"
Jack
Jack left a bouquet of yellow primroses inside a round vase on your doorstep. Next to the vase were two notes.
"You are perfect the way you are. Don't ever change. ~Jack"
"Shishishi. How sweet of Jack to say this. Oh, sorry, I saw him write this note and thought to tell you the reason why he chose this flower. The florist said primroses are a symbol of new love and new beginnings. Guess Jack wants to start a new life with you? Shishishi. I see marriage in your future! Don't tell him I sent this note to you. ~Ruggie"
Ruggie
Ruggie gifted you a bunch of yellow dandelion flowers.
"Happy Valentine's Day! Did you know Dandelions are tough and can endure anything? Just like you. They also have healing properties and are healers, like you. Shishishi. Oh, did you know you can make tea out of these? They help with all sorts of pain and illnesses! ~Ruggie"
Tumblr media
Azul
Azul gifted you a bouquet of purple tulips, neatly tied with a lavender satin bow.
"Hello, love. Happy Valentine's Day. My apologies for not handing these to you in person. I promise to make it up to you later. I thought quite a lot about what flower to give you, but I could think of none better than tulips. They convey comfort and warmth, and when I'm with you, I feel wanted and loved. You mean the world to me. ~Love, Azul"
Jade
When you walked into Ramshackle dorm, a radiant sparkle caught your eyes. Getting closer, you saw a pink glass rose sitting atop a note.
"Happy Valentine's Day, my dear. I noticed quite a few men handing their beloved fresh flowers, but why gift an item that will wither? I do hope you like the glass rose. Its charm, radiance, and delicacy reminds me of you. Visit the Monstro Lounge once you're finished with classes. ~Jade"
Floyd
In the living room, you found a bouquet of forget-me-nots held together by a jute string.
"Hey, Shrimpy, Happy Valentine's Day~! Jade went flower shopping, so I joined him and found these flowers. They look like you, tiny and cute. Come to my dorm after classes~ I made something for you. ♡ Floyd”
Tumblr media
Kalim
You entered Ramshackle, hoping to find Kalim; instead, you saw a gold rose on the living room sofa. Beside the metal-flower sat a cream-colored paper with a gold border.
"Jamil said I shouldn't give you this and should choose fresh flowers. But I don't wanna give you something that'll wilt. This rose is better 'cause it'll stay with you forever! Oh, Happy Valentine's Day! Come to Scarabia after school~ I'm gonna throw you the best party ever! ~ Kalim :)"
Jamil
When you returned to the dorm, you found a thin glass vase with a single pink lotus inside and a note next to it.
"Happy Valentine's Day. I hope your day has been well so far. I don't know what your favorite flower is, so I got you a lotus. You know about lotus, right? They bloom from mud but are unaffected by the muck around them. Lotuses remind me of you...no matter how dirty the world around you, your beauty remains untouched. ~Jamil"
Tumblr media
Vil
You strolled into your dorm and saw Grim running towards you with a single red rose and a note in hand.
"Happy Valentine's Day, my lovely. What better flower to gift you than a red rose? Red is the color of passion, whereas a rose represents classic beauty. This particular rose has been cultivated with the utmost care. Flawless, is it not? Be ready by 4 for our date. ~Your beautiful Vil"
Rook
You entered the living room to find a bouquet of Casa Blanca lilies in a white vase sitting on the table. Around the neck of the vase was a green satin ribbon holding a note.
"Bonjour, mon amour. You like flowers, oui? These are Casa Blanca lilies, known for their beauty, class, and style. They suit you quite well. Now come, we shall go on a date and make memories. ~Ton amour, Rook"
Epel
As soon as you walked into the living room, you saw a bouquet of lavenders and a basket of apples.
"Hello. Today's Valentine's Day, right? So, um...Happy Valentine's Day. I got these lavender flowers for you. They smell good, right? Meemaw - I mean grandmother, loves them a lot, so I thought you would like them too. Speakin' of Meem- grandma, she sent apples for you and asked me to give them to you today. I planned a date today...I'll meet you in front of your dorm at 2. ~Epel"
Tumblr media
Idia + Ortho
You entered your bedroom to find a bouquet of pink alstroemeria and a bouquet of white daisies on your bed, along with two circular device. When you touched the device, a holographic note appeared.
"H-Hello. Happy Valentine's Day. U-Um, these alstroemerias are for you. You are my only f-friend, and I want to gift you these flowers to show my d-devotion to you. T-Thank you for staying by my side. ~Idia"
You tapped the smaller circular device and saw a holographic projection of Ortho. The child spoke in a chirpy voice.
"Hello, (Y/N)! Happy Valentine's Day! I know you are big brother's valentine, but I wanted to gift you these flowers. Daisies represent innocence, happiness, and friendship. These blooms are given to those who put a smile on your face. You always put a smile on big brother's face, so thank you for that. Oh, and I hope you like the flowers Idia picked out. He wasn't sure what to get you, so I suggested alstroemeria. See you in a few hours! Ortho signing out."
The Cat’s Manager
Fandom: Haikyu Pairing: Kuroo Tetsuro x Male!Reader Summary: Kuroo has a range of friends. Word Count: 1,086 Request: Could you possibly do a Kuroo x Boyfriend!reader, where he's one of Nekoma's managers and he goes to check in on him but finds Tetsuro with the gym 3 squad hanging out and it's his first time meeting Tetsu's friends? If not that's totally fine! Just stoked that you're writing for Haikyuu now!! - ❤️❤️ A/n: I realised my timeline in this is fucked, but I didn’t want to rewrite it so I tried bending it about
Tumblr media
You hadn’t been in training camp for the first day, you had been running errands to get the barbeque on the way, one that has been planned a few days in advance. So, when you actually returned to help out, watermelons were being served and whilst you were the only Nekoma’s manager, you managed to find the rest of the managers who welcomed you with open arms. You had met Karasuno’s manager before, the pretty third year, but you said hi to the new manager.
“Kenma!” You called out, the short boy perked up to hear your voice, “Watermelon?”
“Yeah, thanks,” His voice was soft, a smile appeared, “The team has been chaotic without you, especially Tora.”
“It’s Kiyoko, isn’t it?”
Kenma nodded, “Kuro is over there, by the way, he’s getting on my nerves.”
“When is he not annoying?” You sighed, “I’ll check up on him later, how have you been, Kenma?”
You like keeping Kenma company, he’s quiet but smart - he takes a liking to you and approves of you dating his best friend. You were a nice balance to his personality. And you have a good sense of the sport, after all, you used to play with the team. In fact, you were going to be ace of the team, until there was an accident where your knee was no longer at top shape and forced to quit volleyball. Luckily, Nekoma team allowed you to be a manager because you were able to help with training and exercise.
Sometimes, Tora gets guilty to take your spot on the team, but you always reassure him that he did nothing wrong. It wasn’t his fault that floor was slippery, and when you were going for a receive you fell wrong - shattering your kneecap.
You were so busy during the day that the only time you could see your boyfriend was after training was done and it was personal training. You hummed, a little limp to your walk as you look for Kuroo. You stumbled to hear Kuroo’s laughter ringing from gym three.
You poked your head through and was spotted by the Russian.
“(Y/N)!”
Kuroo snapped his head, mid-block, getting a spike to the side of his face from Akaashi.
“LEV!” Kuroo shouted, rubbing his face.
“Are you okay, Kuroo?” Akaashi asked softly as the middle blocked nodded, waving him off.
Kuroo turned to look at you, waving his hand, a glint of excitement and happiness in his eyes, “Hey!”
“Sorry to interrupt.”
You knew some faces, you’ve heard names thrown about in team chat. You were able to meet Kiyoko before the practice game between yours and her school before dipping out before you could meet Karasuno’s team because you were visiting your grandma, who lived in Miyagi. You often get lost in the crowd by Fukurōdani Academy’s setter and ace.
Bokuto not paying attention much and Akaashi’s attention always being on his ace. So, they would never glance your way unless there was something happening with you.
You entered the gym with a welcoming smile, “Hey guys.”
“Baby!” Kuroo ran to you, giving you a massive hug, “I’ve missed you.”
“I was gone for a day and a half.”
“Too long-” Kuroo whined as you chuckled, rubbing his hair, attempting to flatten it down.
“Erm, Kuroo, who’s this?” Bokuto asked as you tilt yourself to the side to look at him.
“Oh, I’m (L/n) (Y/n)! I’m Kuroo’s boyfriend and Nekoma’s manager.” You say, waving lightly with a cat Captain latching onto you, as he pouts, “Nice to meet you.”
“I know you, (L/n),” Akaashi says, looking at you, “I heard you had an accident, you were playing for Nekoma.”
You shrugged your shoulders, “Can’t do much about it now.”
“Wait you can’t play?” Bokuto pouts at you, “That must suck!”
“Well, yeah, but I don’t mind helping out with techniques, I’ve got good game sense.” Akaashi nods, smiling a little, “I’ve heard the two of you. Bokuto Kotaro and his setter - Akaashi Keiji of Fukurōdani Academy.”
“Hell yeah! You’re pretty cool to be Tetsuro’s boyfriends.”
“Bo-!” Kuroo shouted at his companion, the owl smirked in his enjoyment to pick fun at the cat.
“Anyway, you two?” You look at the two other people.
“I’m Hinata Shoyo!” The small ginger-haired boy, jumped up, “What position did you play?”
“You can’t ask that,” The tall blond boy sneered, looking down at you with his glasses, “I’m Tsukishima.”
“It’s okay, Tsukishima, I don’t mind,” You say, at least the blond boy had some manners to him, “I played wing spiker.”
“And almost the ace for the team,” Kuroo boasted, “Unfortunately-”
“I shattered my kneecaps.”
Everyone in the gym except you and Kuroo had cringed at the accident. You lifted your sweatpants to see the scar from surgery. Bokuto wanted to get to you closer so he could give it a good admirable stare, but Akaashi had tugged the back of his shirt to pull him back.
“Hey, if you ever get annoyed with this piece of work,” You motion to your boyfriend, “I can always try to offer you some advice. After all, I would love to see a good game at nationals.”
You smile as you turned to your boyfriend, who was glaring at Bokuto and then sharply looking at Lev. You rolled your eyes at the captain of your team.
“I’ll see you later, you’ll be okay, right?”
“Of course,” Kuroo’s voice was drawled out, a slight tease to his tone, “Go keep Kenma company.”
“Don’t give Lev a hard time.”
“Yeah, listen to (L/n)!” Lev shouted as Kuroo growled at him, making the half-Russian flinch back.
“Play nice, kitty,” You give him a peck on the lips, “I like your friends, they’re nice.”
Your boyfriend rolls his eyes as you turn around to wave goodbye to the rest of them. Kuroo turns to watch his boyfriend walk out of the gym and head towards bedding arrangements. He looks back at the group of boys at the net.
“I like your boyfriend, Kuroo!” Hinata says, a smile never leaving his face, “He seems so cool!”
Kuroo was surprised to see Tsukishima nod in agreement. Bokuto looks even more hyped up, after your statement of wanting to witness a good game at nationals - it seems like it set off something in Bokuto, Hinata and Lev.
