Gender Neutral MC/Yuu

[Synopsis]: In this timeline, MC/Yuu gains the abilities to see and hear the spirits of the Great Seven.

[(A/N): Credits to @/twistedoverbloat their awesome followers for coming up with this AU.

The first time MC/Yuu was able to see and hear the spirits is when after the ceremony from the Prologue Chapter and defeating the ghosts when after entering the rundown Ramshackle dorm.

At first they would freak out since they can’t believe there’s more ghouls to bring fire upon.

The seven spirits had to stop them from bringing Grim in.

MC/Yuu was told they’re the only one who can interact with the Great Seven as no one else can.

This fact weirded them out as they don’t have these abilities until now.

The Seven informed they won’t interfere with their new life. Unless otherwise.

By otherwise, they mean possessing MC/Yuu as an avatar whenever they need/want to.

Pretty sure over time the whole gang will know which spirit possessed MC/Yuu.

Hearts!MC/Yuu: Trappola, Spade, have you two studied the dorm’s 810 Rules?

Ace: *Sweatdrops* Well…

Deuce: *Fears Heart!MC/Yuu’s strict behavior* We…

Hearts!MC/Yuu: *Frowns* You two didn’t study the rules. No matter, I was awake all night writing flash cards for you two to memorize. *Pulls out two stacks of 810 cards and hands them over to the duo*

Ace: Seriously? It’s impossible to remember all those rules.

Hearts!MC/Yuu: Just ingrain the ones to prevent causing more trouble. This body cannot handle the amount of stress for one day.

Ace & Deuce: *Felt slight guilt* Yes, your majesty.

Hearts!MC/Yuu: Straighten your backs. You’re slouching like if you’re tired as a dormouse.

Scar!MC/Yuu: LEONA! Get your lazy ass out of bed! Ruggie has been working all day doing chores for you. Aren’t you the Savanaclaw Dorm Leader?

Jack: Don’t disrespect Leona-senpai like that.

Scar!MC/Yuu: Jack, you know well that your senpai isn’t doing his part of the dorm named after me. The King of Beasts.

Jack: I understand, King Scar, but you didn’t have to be this harsh.

Scar!MC/Yuu: Well I have to. It already feels like I’m the older sibling for Kingscholar. Or an uncle I was.

Ursula!MC/Yuu: *Reading Azul’s latest contract* This won’t do. You could have closed the agreement with something more effective if they decide to backstab you.

Azul: Oh? How would you do it differently?

Ursula!MC/Yuu: Blackmailing the other half with a dark secret no one else knows about. A kind that nobody wants to find out.

Azul: *Processing with the advice* Fair enough. I would use that method for next time.

Jafar!MC/Yuu: You know, Jamil. I was in the same position as you during my time being alive.

Jamil: Are you going to lecture me about last time?

Jafar!MC/Yuu: No. I’m only telling you that when you have the chance to be free, live as much as you can. I didn’t have the opportunity to travel or do anything as I’m always under the Sultan’s shadow. I had been too occupied formulating plans to takeover his throne. Do you understand?

Jamil: I understand.

Jafar!MC/Yuu: Good. Now, about your “friend” Kalim. I can help him pass his B grades while you attend what duties you need to fulfill.

Queen!MC/Yuu: *Fixing Epel’s hair that became disheveled from Magift Practice*

Epel: *Not pleased* Queen Grimhilde, you don’t have to fix anything.

Queen!MC/Yuu: Nonsense. You still need to look your best no matter what you did for today.

Epel: *Scoffs* You sound like Vil-senpai.

Queen!MC/Yuu: I sound nothing like your dorm leader. I’m only fixing your appearance before another scolding ensues. Are you prepared for the etiquette classes?

Epel: Sort of? No? I see nothing about the classes being any use in the future.

Queen!MC/Yuu: *Frowns a little* You say that now, but they will be in good use for anytime.

Hades!MC/Yuu: Kid? You rather stay in your room than touch some grass?

Idia: What?!

Hades!MC/Yuu: Idia, my boy. You’re not immortal than I was during my time. Look at me. I’m possessing your friend’s body for crying out loud.

Idia: It’s weirder than that one anime I watched.

Hades!MC/Yuu: I don’t know what you’re saying, but I agree it’s weird not having my features present. You need to breathe some fresh air. You know what, let’s make a bet.

Idia: A bet?

Hades!MC/Yuu: Let’s play a few rounds of any game of your choice and if you win, you can keep your lifestyle as the same.

Idia: *Already suspicious* What if you win?

Hades!MC/Yuu: Then I’m asking you to touch Kore’s hard work called nature. I mean go outside for at least five minutes.

Malificent!MC/Yuu: Malleus, if other people want to approach to your highness, you may need to work on your “powerful presence.”

Malleus: Oh? Is that so?

Malificent!MC/Yuu: Believe my words. I had been in your position before my time was limited. It was lonely with my subjects by my side. I wasn’t even invited to the a celebration of a princess being born.

Malleus: It sounds disheartening.

Malificent!MC/Yuu: It does. No matter. It was my life and now you have a chance to prevent your fate I had before.

MC/Yuu would get their body back after one of the Great Seven finishes their task.

Before returning the body, they wrote down updates for MC/Yuu to learn what happened while they were “sleeping.”

MC/Yuu: *Got their body back from one of the spirits* Ohhh, what is it this time?

Helped the ADeuce Duo with studying their schoolwork + upcoming exams and assisted Clover with pastries for the next Unbirthday Party.

Jogged with Jack for his morning routine and scolded Leona for not performing his duties.

Gave Azul some business advices, retouched his contracts and worked around the Monstro Lounge with the Leech Brothers.

Aided Jamil for his duties involving Kalim and helped Kalim study to get pass a B average.

Tried to utilize etiquette classes with Epel’s analogy and assisted Vil with an potionology assignment.

Had a gaming session with Idia and was the only one to volunteer to test his inventions.

Coached Tsunotarou how to let humans approach his majesty. As well as keeping his title up as future king.

MC/Yuu: Wow, you all had a busy day.

Well That's a Big Cat

Hello everyone I'm very much alive, just been extra busy w/ school lately and been getting too much sleep

There's been a lot of chimera/overblot Grim on my dash lately so I'd like to contribute : Chimera Grim's Design

So starting off, Grim has a ring of blue fire surrounding his neck, much like a lion and its mane, this could either reference the chimera, or it could be referencing the King of Beasts - Scar.

Also it's interesting how the Shroudbros and Grim both have blue fire, with the Shroud family curse being that they burn away blot and how Grim has an addiction? to eating the left over Overblot stones (and seems fine after eating it) I remember seeing a theory about how Grim might've been the monster that killed Ortho, (given how Grim doesn't remember much about his childhood) Forgetting about your childhood is a actually also a sign for childhood trauma, no idea if it applies to cat-monsters though. .u.

Also, see those tentacles behind the mane? Does it remind you of someone? Our favourite octo-capitalist perphaps?

Ah yes, the snake tail. Again, this could either be referencing the chimera or the snake in the Scarabia icon. (both maybe?)

Dragon wings!!! The chimera doesn't reference dragon wings so this is definitely referencing Malleus' dragon-fae lineage. Interestingly, I don't see any references to OB! Riddle or Vil, those two could be harder to reference since they don't have a clear "animal" motif, I would appreciate it if anyone notices anything lol.

But we're still missing the goat, the chimera has a "goat protruding from it's back" but I don't see it anywhere on Grim (again, if you notice something or know someone who is better than analysing stuff pls tag me ToT)

@prince-kallisto has posted about how Twst has LOADS of religious symbolism(specifically Christian symbolism), so check them out for a clearer analysis on the stuff I'm abt to say. Goats are a symbol of Satan/The Devil in Christian mythology, and given how Maleficent(a dragon) herself has demonic symbolism the dragon wings on Grim's back could symbolise the "goat protruding from it's back".

I remembered this one au I had a while back where the OB boys are apprentices to the Great Seven (who are alive). Crowley is kinda like, their assistant??? Well he's the OFFICIAL assistant, Yuu is the one who does most of the running around. They're recognised for their work by the Great Seven though, who grow REALLY fond of them. This leads to Shenanigans when they keep trying to set up Yuu with their apprentices and sabotage each other's efforts.

Day 5: Curse

Twisted Wonderland has a lot of blessings that are actually curses, and curses that are blessings, but none are so interesting to me as Yuu's dreamlike visions. To be able to see the past, in all of its horrible details, for what it truly is. To be able to see the future, but be unable to divert it. To be blessed with so much knowledge, but be cursed with no way out... I truly think future sight is one of the worst skills to have.

OOC: Hello! Writer here. I’m sorry for replying this late. So about the timeline (AU) where MC/Yuu is possessed by one of the Great Seven, maybe I could continue and expand based on possible outcomes and lining up the storyline. Miyeon, could you explain more?

Miyeon: Certainly. As you know, this timeline of my variant, they given permission to let the spirits borrow their physical body for various reasons like college activities or feeling like the Seven are alive again. However, when I spoke with them, I reminded MC/Yuu to not forget their true identity.

That’s a good point, Miyeon. Since the spirits of Great Seven are using MC/Yuu as a vessel, they shouldn’t forget their whole self as a person. Choi also spoke with the Great Seven to watch their limits while using possession.

[Great Seven Timeline (AU)]

Miyeon: As all of you are aware I can see and communicate with you.

Queen of Hearts: My, how are you able to possess such abilities?

Miyeon: Your majesty, if I may tell you. I’m a fully-experienced magic user who earned a title and able to see what others can’t with the naked eyes.

Hades: Hah! Mal, you have a competition with this kid.

Miyeon: I only traveled here to warn you all not to overstep MC/Yuu’s boundaries when possessing their body.

Ursula: We never harmed MC/Yuu in any way as if they did get hurt, we wouldn’t experience today’s generation.

Beautiful Queen: It’s true. I wouldn’t be able to learn how beauty trends work these days nor learn how a dormitory was designed after me.

Scar: Or how beast-people are settled in the Afterglow Savanna.

Maleficent: Or how the Valley of Thorns co-exist with humans after “The Great War.”

Miyeon: Uh-huh. Sebek still believes Faes are more superior than humanity itself…

Maleficent: Pardon?

Miyeon: Nothing. Furthermore, I’m only here to warn you not to break MC/Yuu into an empty shell. That’s it. If there were a slight discomfort upon them, I’ll cast difficult spells and even open a portal to some Hellhole that even the God himself can’t describe.

Jafar: Wow. They’re really scary with such a threat.

Hades: Far-Far, they’re not bluffing.

Jafar: How would you know?

Facts about in-game Yuu (Twisted Wonderland):

NOTES:

This is an ongoing list and will be updated with new information. I'm not caught up w/ chap 6 and I'm not very perceptive. This list is so long because of all the people who commented/sent asks, so thank you Last but not least, some of these might be a stretch/be slightly incorrect so bare w/ me plz :] More Yuu facts [ ONE / TWO ] <- not mine

They've been good friends with Heartslabyul ever since Book 1.

They're forgiving/don't hold any bad blood with the people who've overblotted (at least on the outside).

According to the Harveston event, they can play the flute.

They don't like mentioning that they might return to their world (Deuce's Wishing Star vignette).

Many people consider them a "goody-two-shoes" (Leona, Ruggie).

A good listener.

Based on Malleus' interactions with them, Yuu talks to him a lot more off-screen as he states that he values their opinions.

Loves Grim to hell and back.

It's implied that Yuu invites Malleus over frequently enough that he visits unprompted.

They can be snarky and brutally honest when they're pushed into it.

Comes up with stupid plans that nobody believes will work but it somehow does.

They're insecure about not having any magic.

They want to be able to help their friends.

Has a sense of self-preservation.

Does not actively seek out danger (*cough* om mc *cough*).

They've cleaned up Ramshackle since living there, however, it still looks "abandoned & ancient" on the outside.

Crowley doesn't give them more money than "needed".

Silver states that Yuu is good with swords (PE Uniform).

Both Jamil and Silver seem to think that Yuu is somewhat weird/strange.

They don't know much about mushrooms (Floyd's Camp Vargas vignette).

They're very patient.

Used to be afraid of ghosts until they got to Twisted Wonderland.

They adapt to new/difficult situations quickly and calmly.

They don't complain much.

Very much so the silent type.

The audience doesn't really see anyone helping them out with their situation, so I assume they fix most of their problems themselves.

They don't have any memories of the Great Seven before coming to Twisted Wonderland.

Fluctuates between being observant and not noticing really basic stuff.

Doesn't hesitate to say cheesy things.

Keeps calm in harsh situations.

They know how to play a blowing horn (White Rabbit Event).

Good with instruments.

Not a very good singer (NRC Uniform).

It's implied that they have high stamina.

They're interested in horseback riding and wants to play soccer with Sebek (PE Uniform).

They recommend a few books to Sebek, implying that they read in their free time.

They're short in comparison to Floyd (he calls them Shrimpy).

Grim comments that they're shorter than Vil.

Crowley mumbles that Yuu looks effeminate.

They're a bit of a romantic since they seem to often ask about love stories/fairy tales (Epel & Jade chats).

They have a habit of poking, tugging, tickling and just touching people in general. This is proven through the Home Screen character interactions.

Their love language seems to be physical touch.

They get scared easily but is bad at scaring others (Halloween voice lines).

Vil notes that their uniform is baggy.

Malleus says that Yuu has gotten better at dancing (Masquerade Event).

It's implied that Yuu is good/decent at cooking since they have to make meals for both themself and Grim every day.

Yuu is decent at basketball (Ace Halloween).

Deuce remarks about a tiny piece of furniture in Ramshackle and asks if it's for Grim, meaning Yuu makes small furniture for him.

They're a good photographer.

Takes part in photography competitions (Rook Port Fest).

It's implied that Yuu carries their ghost camera everywhere because Crowley constantly makes them record events.

It's said that the game cards are actual photos that Yuu took with the ghost camera. [I don't know if this is true but a lot of people have said so]

Most, if not all the characters tell Yuu to hurry up when choosing a class, which suggests that they're indecisive.

Ace, Deuce and Cater tell Yuu to relax during classes or else they'll run out of energy.

Jack says that he got tips from Yuu while he was working in Monstro Lounge, implying that Yuu might've worked in customer service before (Book 3).

According to Grim, they have a hard time saying no to people, but when they absolutely need to-- they're very serious and a bit intimidating. "You're a real sap sometimes, you know that? Then again, when you bare your teeth it's no joke."

While they won't say no to helping others, they prefer to keep to themselves and avoid drama.

Yuu is sometimes a bit distrustful of Ace and thinks he's tricking them if he offers to do anything nice (2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

It doesn't take much to make them happy. (Deuce & Idia 2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

They became nervous when Riddle invited them to a salon for their birthday. Riddle response saying "I'll be right there with you, and will instruct you in etiquette every step of the way."

They're competitive in class-- at least when it comes to Jack (2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

They took chess lessons to try and beat Leona in a match (2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

For their birthday, Yuu asks Azul to get something that's supposedly hard for an average collector to acquire.

They're surprised when Kalim gifts them a pop-up card for their birthday.

They own a pair of fingerless gloves (gifted by Epel).

They personally invited Vil over for their birthday party and made sure to have healthy food options for him.

Not very close with Idia.

Owns a glass tumbler that reads 'Happy Birthday!' (gifted by Ortho).

Lilia gives them a CD with his screamo performances.

They were gifted so many presents on their birthday that they had trouble carrying the gifts around. (Malleus 2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

Writing Strong Opening Lines

This is the kind of information your first line should provide:

the name of the character (the speicifcity creates and illusion of reality from the get-go)

Notify that something bad is about to happen.

Provide a feeling of motion (it doesn’t neccessarily have to be the character moving)

Talk about a (small) disturbance to the character’s everyday life.

Types of Novel Openings

Action (in medias res)

Jump into the story with no delay - have something interesting happening.

“They threw me off the hay truck about noon."

2. Dialogue

Show conflict between the characters speaking.

“Isn’t it true you ahve a motive to lie?” / “Excuse me?”

3. Raw Emotion

Make readers sympathize with the MC, who is experiencing a strong, universal emotion (like sadness, anger, etc.).

“I do not look. I don’t ask where. I don’t because Annie’s mother died seven months ago. I stand motionless in the line, looking just like everyone else except for the hot tears that have begun to sting my eyes.”

4. Look-back Hook

Suggest that there is a not-to-be-missed story that’s about to be told

“The terror, which would not end for another twenty-eight years — if it ever did end — beganm, so far as I can tell, with a boat made from a sheet of newsppaer gloating down a gutter swollen with rain”

5. Attitude

When using first-person narration, show some attitude and unique voice.

“If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you’ll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don’t feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.”

6. Prologues - entice the reader to move to chapter 1

Action Prologue: Start off with some big scene, often involving death

Framing a story - give the reader the view of a character about to look back and tell the story.

The teaser - present a scene at the beginning that will happen later on in the book

For the feedback I received and research I did before making this here's the version of Yuu in a Chinese hanfu, it's more based on modern hanfus I was able to find and be more capable of referencing.

{Again if there's anything wrong or incorrect about the design please let me know as I would like to make this as accurate as possible even if it's biased off a more modern hanfu.}

I was originally going to draw Yuu in Mulan's hanfu for fun {the one she wore when getting ready to meet the matchmaker since I love that scene and the song so much} but I also wanted to give Yuu a different design and challenge myself a bit.

Anyways here's the final result and again feel free to give corrections on the outfit.

Mystic messenger has been in my radar since i was in elementary school but i played it for the first time after the spanish traslation came out (2017 i think?) Seven shaped my type in such a specific way that im not really sure why loved him so much (it was the whole "he loves you in every route" stuff). I like a lot the default mc, most of the fandom did and that was enough to won me over

Rosa is top tier protagonist tbh, Tears of Themis has really good story and characters (as far i played, not a lot but i enjoyed it) The reason i'm not that much of a fan is bc the game is expensive asf and not very free to play friendly. You're either lucky or have a big wallet with the gacha

Ephemeral has to be one of the best free to play otomes i've played tbh (if my memories aren't tricking me, it's been years) Good artwork, good storyline, good characters and as far i remember you can unlock one chapter of the character route per day (mabye two days, idk) and the mc's background has an important role in every route (she's a zombie! she's pretty now but eventually will fall apart, aaaaand her story gets expanded in one of the routes!) ((shes also adorable)) There's also a sequel, if you wanted more of the boys! never finished it but i'd recommend it

Honorable mentions! Huellitas Mágicas is a great game! has a really good cast with well fleshed arcs for all the characters, even the scondary ones! The game shines more for the development of *all* the characters rather than just the protagonist/ml. The main theme is overcoming insecurities! Each love interest has a different way of helping our (very insecure) protagonist and helping different characters with their own struggles :DD

10/10 i recommend this game if you want something cute and can be finished in a few hours, if i remember right. It also has a sequel! with like- 12 new love interests, also never finished it bc i didnt found a guide that worked for me but ñek

A3! is my canon event as a gacha player. Discovered the english/global server, tried it and got bored, left it for a few months, tried it again and fell in love, noticed the game was going to shut down bc low sales -HAHA :(-. This is not a otome btw, this is here bc Izumi has to be one of my favorite protagonists in gacha games ever

last but not least! Obey me! Shall we date? oh dear, what have they done to you :(. The original had intense powercreep to force you to pull cards -multiple times bc that makes them stronger- and even now, the company showed a lot of favoritism to some characters, leaving others to dust bc they don't make the same money. Not to say, they released a new game with the same cast and new main story (ignoring all what happend before). And let me say: THEY LITERALLY WANTED TO KILL THE ORIGINAL GAME.

Nightbringer might be a decent game but i don't trust the devs anymore, i still remember what happend with Asmo's birthday right after the release, and honestly i don't want to sit there watching how they disrespect my favorite characters again and again and again. Loved the characters hated the devs. 5/10 you can play it if you want but i don't recommend spending money on it, it's not worth it, just search #obey me here in tumblr and enjoy the amazing fanworks that i can assure you have a lot more love than the game itself
