Twst fest 2023 live stage readings (notes)

During the “Twisted Wonderland Festival” event that was held on August 20, 2023, the voice cast (sans Kouki Uchiyama, the VA for Idia Shroud) gathered together and delivered two live readings for the audience. As attendees were not permitted to take recordings of the event, some of them very kindly went and wrote down what they remembered hearing after they returned home. I've translated and compiled some of what they wrote in this post. This information comes from a number of different tweets, summarized notes, and anonymous discussion board comments. As we can’t presently be certain what dialogue and whatnot reported here is incorrect and what is verbatim, please take all of this information with a massive grain of salt.

Lastly, please do not pester any of the sources I listed for more information.

Live Reading 1

Featured Characters: Epel, Vil, Jack, Floyd, Azul, Riddle, Silver, Lilia, Cater, Kalim

Scenario: The characters recollect the different hometown events and make plans for summer vacation.

The scenario begins with Kalim, Riddle, Cater, and Silver sitting in the school courtyard, talking about where they’ll be going on summer vacation. The other students come over and join them as the discussion goes on. (The order is described differently in different accounts I read, so this might be out of order.)

Lilia and Vil said they had a great time in Sunset Savana, and Silver talks about the rabbit run race he did in Deuce’s hometown. Floyd says he wants to compete in a cool race, too, and then Epel talks about the sled race from his own hometown. Silver says Sebek seemed to have enjoyed himself on that trip. Thanks to the cuckoo clock Sebek bought him as a souvenir, he’s been able to wake up on time. (TL note: they said he literally said the clock pecks him?? Does he just put it by his bed and let the bird jab him in the face?? Dfgdfg). Epel is glad to hear Silver liked the clock so much.

Vil says that sled race does sound like fun, but it takes place in the winter, so they couldn’t take part in it during summer break. Harveston gets nixed as a summer vacay spot.

At some point Vil starts talking about skincare and sunburn prevention, and Epel says he thinks getting a little burnt looks kinda cool… maybe. Jack isn’t concerned about sunburns, but he does start talking in detail about preventing heat exhaustion (might be a reference to what happened during Tamashina Mina).

Vil asks Riddle about tourist spots in the Queendom of Roses, but he only suggests a bunch of “boring” places like court houses and libraries. He says there’s so many you wouldn’t be able to go to them all (during summer break).

After suggesting a bunch of different places, they eventually decide going to the beach would be a good idea. Azul and Floyd propose the Coral Sea but get rejected since the water is too cold there even in the summer. They talk about what they could do at the beach. Silver suggests they split open watermelons, as he learned from his father that it’s a legendary form of training. Silver offers to bring the watermelons. Jack agrees to come along (not because he wants to go have fun with them or anything!! (tsundere))

Kalim says they should all go to his place (his family has a private beach? And a beach house?). Azul gets excited.

Azul: So we’ll be going to a millionaire’s hom- I mean, you’re always so incredibly kind to me, Kalim-san, I would love the opportunity to meet your parents!

Floyd teasingly asks Riddle if he even knows how to swim and offers to possibly teach him.

Riddle: How rude. I’ve memorized a number of swimming instruction manuals, and in theory, I can swim just fine! (he doesn’t indicate if he can, in practice, swim though.)

Lilia suggests the pop music club boys put on a live beachside show.

Lilia: If we’re all going to the beach, I’ll need to make sure to wear that genie t-shirt Malleus bought me!

Silver: The first thing you need to make sure you do is stock up on sun screen.

Other random notes people included:

Azul wants to rake in the dough at the Asim’s beach clubhouse, but Floyd doesn’t want to work. Cater thinks a beach clubhouse would be totally Magicammable though.

It is mentioned that summers in Briar Valley are cool

Lilia says he wants to wear a stylish swimsuit

Epel would sometimes get excited and slip into his local dialect, then get flustered, and quickly switch back to standard Japanese.

Live Reading 2

Featured Characters: Malleus, Sebek, Ace, Deuce, Ortho, Leona, Ruggie, Jamil, Jade, Trey

Scenario: The characters compete to see who can come up with the best menu for a competition being held by the school cafeteria. They split into two teams: Trey, Jade, Malleus, Sebek, Ace, and Ortho on one team; Leona, Ruggie, Jamil, Rook, and Deuce on the other. The winners will be able to get as many add-ons/sides with their meals as they want for one whole month.

The scenario begins with Ace, Deuce, and Ortho talking together in the cafeteria. They come across a flyer for the aforementioned contest and being talking about it. Malleus and Sebek come over and join them. Since it’s a school event and he wants to learn more about the kinds of things humans eat, Mallues is interested in taking part in the contest. Sebek enthusiastically says of course they will take part!!

Sebek suggests the following menu:

The other students start coming over and join the discussion. Jade somehow ropes Jamil into things, and when Jami tries to escape, Rook appears and stops him (he holds his arm or something).

Trey is with Rook, and Malleus bids them to sit next to him. Ortho looks at Jami, Jade, and Trey and gets excited since they’ve all “maxed out their cooking skills”.

Jade: We’ll all be sure to try our best [in the competition].

Jamil: Would you stop saying ‘we’!

Ruggie and Leona appear. Ruggie says there’s no way he’s gonna let them get their hands on the prize.

Jade (smiling): Oh? But we’re certain to emerge victorious, considering the members on our team.

Ruggie: I ain’t gonna sit around when there’s free food on the line!!

Leona: Yeah, well, I am. Least until today's lunch break’s over.

Some sort of spat occurs between Leona and Malleus (no account I read describes it further than that), and Rook steps in to split everyone up into two teams.

Malleus’s team: Trey, Jade, Sebek, Ace, and Ortho Leona’s team: Ruggie, Jamil, Rook, and Deuce

Malleus’s Team

They talk about how bread/pastries sold in the foothill town sell out it minutes. Ace, Ortho, and Sebek wonder if it’s because it’s a limited deal that they sell out so quickly. Jade says when they have limited time and limited quantity deals at Mostro Lounge, those products end up becoming popular. Mal’s team decides on a menu based on “limited quantity”.

Leona’s Team

(I mashed together this convo from two different posts so the lines might be out of order)

Leona: Okay, theme’s gonna be meat. You guys come up with the rest.

Jamil: How about we spice up the menu a little? Add something extra?

Rook: We can flambé the meat in front of the students. Meanwhile, I shall perform a song by their one side, while Jamil-kun dances at their other!

Jamil: What!? Why me!?

Deuce (or Ruggie? Same lines are reported for both of them) : That’s a great idea! He’s great at dancing, and he can rap, too!

Ruggie: We got this in the bag!

Jamil: Now you listen here…

Leona (laughing) : Ain’t hospitality Scarabia’s whole thing? Go on, dance.

Jamil: Please, stop! You guys are taking this too far!

While all the students start talking excitedly about their menu plans, Ortho looks at the flyer again and he looks sad. Deuce and Ace ask him what’s wrong, and when they go to look at the flyer with him, they realize the competition already ended a while ago!

♡ - Synopsis : In which teen Diluc falls inlove yet he isn't sure how to express his feelings, making it so that it comes off as if he dislikes you. // Takes place before Crepus' passing.

♡ - Note : Inspired by my 3 am thoughts !! (no joke it's literally three am lord help me)| This was originally supposed to be fluffy and cute like my other fics but I still don't have Diluc and I'm almost ar 60 so :(

"Hey! How'd your mission go? I heard you had to do it with Diluc" Kaeya said while putting an arm around your shoulder " Yes.. he was a bit rude. Maybe he just doesn't like me, I've heard he wasn't fond of new people.. but we've known eachother even as children." You say with a chuckle trying not to sound offensive towards Kaeya.

"Huh, Rude you say? I mean he's occasionally harsh here and there but rude? Care to give an example?" He said removing his arm around your neck while tilting his head and crossing his arms "Well, for starters.. he started saying quite rude things to me earlier such as; You're gross, You're insufferable or even swearing at me sometimes. I feel like I already have small to no chances of even being friends with him ever again, he's changed ever since I came back from Liyue. "

Kaeya let out a chuckle "Oh, Diluc. He just isn't good with these things but... Trust me he still likes you." He continued as he pats your shoulder then walks away "I'm pretty sure the last time he talked about you was him saying he wanted to be with you everyday, I don't think he hates you one bit .. you're both so dense." He whispered— barely audible, you couldn't hear him properly yet you managed to make out the words " hates and dense "

"You're so bad at making a move aren't you, Diluc." Kaeya asks with a sarcastic tone, Diluc turns his head towards his brother "...What do you mean?" He asks with a confused face even though he seems to know what Kaeya meant "Hm really? Your 'insufferable' knight? No?"

His face flushes,almost as if his face replicated his hair but his eyes were also filled with panic " Ah.. so what— They ARE insufferable—! I mean they almost got hurt and they still went for the kill how stupid! I.." he didn't finish his sentence and sighed heavily

"Already having fights? I thought we agreed in 'no fighting' when you became a knight." Crepus' voice scared the two boys who quickly faced their father. "Oh if it was a fight then I would've told you father—" Diluc starts " —But he's inlove" Kaeya cuts Diluc off with an energetic tone

With a quite shocked face, Crepus chuckles to himself "..Then you really shouldn't be saying those things if you're inlove with them. You might push them away Diluc." He sighs " No— I don't like them! Father..." Diluc retorts with his face heating up ever more slightly

"Young master Diluc? Your friend is here! They're looking for you. It seems quite important." Adelinde interrupts their conversation while Diluc nodded and excused himself

"Ah.." if it wasn't the person he was all flustered over, the person who he sees in the midst of the crowd— despite the commotion; your voice is the only thing he hears. " I brought you some of my cooking, I wanted to apologize for troubling you earlier in our mission. I know it was a foolish move, thank you for saving me, Diluc." You say with a gentle smile which he seemed to despise— but in his eyes you were more than beautiful, his brows furrowed even more trying to conceal his redness and embarrassment.

"..is something wrong? If you don't want it maybe Kaeya and Master Crepus would enjoy it? Apologies I wasn't really sure if this is still your favorite food, I remember you saying it was your favorite food a long time ago—" he takes the meal from your hands and opens his mouth to talk but no words escaped his mouth, he could barely utter a word Infront of you when your eyes shone perfectly with the sunset. With no further warning he nodded slightly and shut the door in your face.

He leaned on the door, the food against his chest with his face redder than his hair and his heart beating out of his chest. Adelinde was about to tell him how rude it was to shut the door in your face but Crepus and Kaeya stopped her, the three watched the redhead unable to muster up a word enough to thank you for your gift but he also felt bad for making you feel as if you were a burden and that an apology was in order, he opens the door quickly again only to see that you've wandered off.

A week passed and Diluc never really approached you, he avoided all contact with you. Sometimes you'd get a good look at him and feel like he doesn't really hate you, that he somehow has at the very least affection or liking for you, but that was nothing but delusion in your eyes, he avoided every single interaction. He acted as if he hated you, your guts, you as a person and no matter how much Kaeya reassures you that you're liked by Diluc in some way, he still makes you feel as if he's disgusted by the thought of you.

Your last mission with him came, Kaeya and Diluc became your partner for your mission. It was clearing out a camp of abyss mages. They've gathered up in one place and it has become a very huge inconvenience to people. You came to the scene and with ease, they were dealt with. Or was it? There was barely anything audible to you, you felt as if the man you have always adored saw you as a disgusting person— hell, he probably sees you as those type of people who throw themselves at him for his money and fame.

Going back to the headquarters, Kaeya had a lot to say, he tried to make you two talk. He tried to make Diluc muster up any bit of compliment just to keep your eyes bright like before. In truth, he wasn't the only one that noticed your eyes had gone dark. Everyone did, especially Diluc, he thought you hated being with him after how he's treated you these past few weeks. It was a never ending cycle, he makes a mistake, you try to make up for it, he doesn't tell you how he feels, you get distant, he wins you over and you go back to being yourself once more and then it repeats.

A day has passed since your mission, your things were packed, you visited the winery to bid goodbye to the man who treated you as his own child and the man who supported you with every small dumb decision you have ever made— and the most important man you have ever met, the man that changed your life, your view of love and affection.

Unfortunately, Diluc stood quiet during your goodbyes, he was behind Crepus and Kaeya who gave you a hug and bid Goodbye. He stood in the shadows unsure of what to do next, he stood unknowingly shedding a tear.

"Diluc, can we talk? Just us." You say as he nods and steps out of the winery with you, he stares at you with his ever so dead eyes.

"I have longed to tell you how I felt, how I always felt the need to impress you and how I—.. I want to tell you that you are the only reason I came back to Mondstat, the only reason I became a knight. Diluc I adore you, If I may—; love, even. Diluc I love you, I have for a very long time. All I ever wanted was to tell you yet you manage to somehow make me aware of your dislike of affection. I understand, I really do. It won't stop me from how I feel for you, but Diluc Ragvindr.. there is no point of me being here if it wasn't with you, if It wasn't by your side making you feel happy— if it wasn't with you, there is nothing in this world- in the whole of Teyvat that matters. So in other words, this is goodbye. Diluc, I hope you live a happy life and love someone you truly think is worthy and may they treat you how you deserve to be treated and may they love you as much as I do."

You waited for a brief moment for a response, you hoped.. atleast a bit, atleast a little bit that he would say he felt the same way yet he stood quiet. You chuckled to yourself as you felt your eyes welling up. "Goodbye, Diluc." You walk away with your things and your tears running down your face while Diluc stood in regret, his mouth could not conjure up anything, his body was frozen, his tongue was tied. His words were trapped in his throat and there was no way to get them out. He watched you walk away— you were too far, too far away from his reach. He felt his eyes water, and soon his tears were unstoppable, they felt like fire in his eyes. He wanted to chase after you, he wanted to move his body yet he was frozen in place, he was gone— you, were gone. And it was solely because of him, him not being able to express his love, his emotions.

To this day, he wishes that you would walk into his tavern, that you would come back and say you missed him. That you still loved him, but who was he to ask for that when he had long received your wedding invitation. Who was he to long for the love of someone he hurt and who was he to wish for you to ruin your perfect life with your partner now. He can only wish for you to live a happy life, much like what you wished for him though he knows deep down that no one could ever compare to you.

Hitagi Crab - An Analysis

Let’s start with Oshino’s story about the boy who sold his shadow. It’s present in the anime only as text flashing on screen at the start of the episode, which feels like the kind of thing you do not when something is unimportant, but rather when it takes up too much space to fit in the anime adaptation.

I think it’s a good jumping-off point, though.

To summarize, the boy sells his shadow to a strange old woman for ten pieces of gold. This is already strange, raising the question of what value we place on something as unimportant yet natural as one’s shadow. Losing the shadow doesn’t inconvenience the boy in any way – the problem arises when he returns home and the townspeople find his lack of a shadow to be creepy. As Oshino puts it, what the boy sold wasn’t just his shadow, but “what ought to be”.

The shadow itself is nothing, the reflection of an absence.

The parallel to Senjougahara is clear. While her weightlessness inconveniences her directly in some ways, by far the biggest is the social consequences – or rather, what she does to ensure that there are no social consequences. In order to live a normal life with her condition she must ensure that nobody gets close enough to her – literally, physically close to her – in order to find out.

The school setting is interesting in this respect. There’s a certain mandated closeness between students, but an equally mandated distance, like the arrangement of seats in a classroom. Senjougahara isn’t bullied or shunned, but nor is she approached.

She didn’t simply lose her weight, she also lost her presence, becoming “ethereal”, like she isn’t there at all.

This, however, is a deliberately maintained act. She reads books during class as if “building walls around herself”. She uses stationery to fend Araragi off. She builds a shell around herself, like a crab, and then uses her claws to snip at anyone who gets close.

Let’s talk about misconceptions. This is a theme that’s present early on, when Senjougahara refers to herself as a tsundere, implying that her cold persona will be pulled back to reveal a loving attitude. (Araragi doubts this.)

Many things are revealed about her, in this story.

Take, for example, how long she spends changing, Araragi assuming that she’s showing off when in fact she genuinely isn’t that good with wearing clothes. She hides the surgery scar on her back by giving him the full frontal view.

Acting tough in the cram school, an environment that poses real danger to her. Being reluctant to trust Oshino after already being fooled five times.

At every turn, what Araragi takes to be rudeness or arrogance is bravado, trying to distract from and cover up old wounds.

Perhaps his most significant misconception is that she’s already given up, “resigned herself” to a life of weightlessness. But why see five different con-men about it – why trust Araragi, despite being willing to cause significant injury in order to make him go away a minute ago? Part of it is witnessing his vampiric healing (and the self-sacrificial nature it represents), of course, but even so some part of her still wants to believe she can be cured. She only half-trusts Oshino, but put the other way around, that still means she’s giving him half of her trust.

Because – and this is the root of it all – Senjougahara wants to hold on to something.

Now is probably a good time to bring up oddities. It’s not particularly original to point out that they serve as physical manifestations of a person’s specific mental and emotional issues. Their very existence is questionable, a “trick of perspective”, the reflection of an absence. The important bit here is that their existence is also metaphorical, a sort of pun-as-narrative, as you can see with the Weight Crab’s name also being interpreted as ‘Emotion God’.

The Weight Crab does not only take away Senjougahara’s weight, but also her emotions, her memories, and crucially her ties to other people, snipping them up with its great big claws.

To link back to what we were talking about earlier, the reason why she distances herself from others isn’t really to hide her weightlessness. The deeper cause, the reason why the Weight Crab visited her in the first place, was to repress her trauma, to lighten her burden, to make it easier to go on without being bothered by her connections to others.

She lives a kind of ethereal half-life, untroubled by her poor relationship with her mother and the memories of nearly being raped, but equally troubled by her lack of feeling towards them, unable to properly move on.

All the bells and whistles that Oshino sets up - the priest outfit, the ritual site, the ‘purified clothing’ – exist simply to get her in the right mindset. He isn’t helping her; he helps her help herself. She is the one that must make a genuine request of the Weight Crab, to truly want to confront her own trauma.

She addresses Oshino more formally, more hesitantly than she does Araragi. I think she’s scared, a little bit. Scared that Oshino won’t want to help her. Scared that he will want to, and end up being another scammer.

But it’s interesting that she treats Araragi that casually in the first place, isn’t it? He’s someone who caught her without a second thought, someone who keeps running after her despite all her snipping. Someone that’s quick enough to respond to her biting humour, but not quite quick enough at picking up all the things she’s hiding beneath its surface.

She needed someone like Araragi to get her there in the first place. Oshino, for all his knowledge, wouldn’t have cared enough.

That’s part of why I find it such a moving line when she tells him that she can do it herself. Talking to Oshino, she means, but the same tone is also there when she begs Oshino to let her try and talk to the Weight Crab again. Despite everything, she really did want to hold onto those emotions, and was brave enough to try and reclaim them on her own.

At the end of this story, Araragi realises that Senjougahara might actually be a tsundere. What this means in practice is that despite how bluntly she is capable of delivering a vicious joke, she is equally capable of bluntly delivering a heartfelt thanks, shifting from irony to sincerity in an instant in a way that catches Araragi off-guard.

She’s more vulnerable than she first appears, but she’s also brave enough to confront that part of herself. Nothing will change, Oshino says, pointing out that her relationship with her mother will still be poor, her family will not come back together.

But it’s not as if everything will stay the same, either, she responds. In overcoming the crab, she also formed a new relationship with Araragi. The world keeps turning.

I am reminded of the imagery from her opening, staplers drawing lines across a grey cityscape. Slowly, surely, one step at a time, they create their own paths.

I don’t have an epilogue or a punchline (this time round, at least), but I’ll give a quick explanation of my plans here. Basically, I’m going to be reading the light novel version of each Monogatari arc followed immediately by the anime adaptation, and then writing up an essay on my thoughts for each one. This is sort of like what I’ve already done with Fate/Stay Night (and I’ll try to keep moving those posts over here while I’m doing this) so I’m sure this is going to end up increasing in scope and effort the longer I carry on.

Anyway, next time I’ll be writing about- well, I guess you already know, huh. That’s gonna take some getting used to.

Brah, my dude your radical. You've been sending in some pretty fire ideas for me to brainstorm~. Also I love LMK, it's one of my favorite shows a part of the Mokey King fandom. So fuck yeah if ya' wanna send in some LMK req/theories l would love to write/draw/theorize for that fandom! Actually I already have some sketches/doodles for Monkey King.

Though one of them got messed up recently because of my clumsy ass....

Raph calling his darling by an endearing name? I got'cha~

Since in the TMNT universe in general there is already a canonical Mona Lisa chick(who I might add actually hooks up with Raph acouple times in a couple verses~😏). Sooooo- I don't know about Raphael tryin'na pickin' you up/or addressing you with that pet name.

Thooouuugh a couple weeks ago I finally had enough cash to go see the Super Mario movie and I could TOTALLY see 2k12 and Rise Raph being like Bowser in his approach to his love interest.

SPOILER ALERT PEOPLE!!!!! DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER UNLESS YOU WANT SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT!!!

Non-Yandere Route

In a normal situation this could be applied to 2k12 as well. While I wouldn't really call Rise Raph a Tsundere; 2k12 is most definitely a Tsundere.

Like Bowser 2k12 Raphael would be all imposing up front to all his comrades though when alone/or with Spike/or Chomp (Kamek in this scenario) is all love struck for Peaches(s/o). I could see Rise Raph doing this too except he probably gush about his crush on his s/o with Buddy.

In both situations like Bowser, both Raphael's would refer to you by a nickname. May you be allies or fighting as enemies Raph would be the only one to call you by the nickname he had given you(much to 2k12 Dr. Name-stein's(Mikey's) jargon).

Normal route wise? It would probably just play out as an average slow burn story. 2k12 Raph being a Tsundere who eventually has to confess due to circumstances(like one of his brothers "accidentally" outing him).

Meanwhile Rise Raph just tries to play it cool kinda like Bowser in the fluffy moments in the film when he was acting out scenarios. Except in Rise Raph's case this soft boi would definitely perform these acts of adoration for real-zeez. Flowers? Check. Flustered pick up lines? Check. Though the love song might be a stretch. Idk if either version of Raphael would go as far as writing a whole song for his crush.

Yandere Route

Yandere route wise both 2k12 and Rise Raph would react in a similar ways when denied/rejected by their s/o.

Bowser to me in the Super Mario movie is a literal yandere for Princess Peach. Dude destroyed a kingdom, took the whole Donkey Kong Army/any infidels captive, AND to top it off tried to sacrifice all his prisoners in Peaches honor for their wedding. Which by the way he cohersed out of the monarch by choking the fuck out of her companion while threatening to destroy her whole Kingdom. Only to be shocked when Peaches doesn't just give in and retaliates against their union. Which of course pisses off Bowser especially when he sees Mario and Peaches holding hands all close and such~ Anyways—

Both Rise and 2k12 Raphael would definitely fly into a rage like Bowser during the wedding scene after Peach froze him and reunited with Mario. Between 2k12 Raph with his hair wire triggered anger and Rise Raph's sensitivity this is not gonna end well. Maybe you're really a villain and reveal you were just playing with him for kicks/or ulterior motives. Perhaps you're an ally who's just not interested or has a crush on one of his brothers/or comrades. Either way he's losing his shit. Hopefully whatever is holding the mutant back restrains him long enough for either version of Raphael to calm down cause if the red color coded Hamato breaks free it is a matter of how fast his brothers and comrades can calm him down before the turtle does something extreme...

Btw here's some sketches I did for another request that I'm working on that @ladydoe8 had asked for. It's a writing req but I always find brain storming designs by drawing them makes it easier to describe them.

The one in the top right is from TigerFrog's fan made comic Mutant Ninja Turtle Gaiden (MNTG). I was re-reading it online since it's been a couple years when I came across this beauty. There were more but, this is my favorite line. I really recommend it! It's a fantastic comic, pretty dark, I love the plot! More people need to read it. I would love to write some scenarios/fics for it for you guys.

Hi Anon! I’m glad you like our Diasomnia thoughts. For the longest time they were the most difficult team for me to come up with stuff about, but the more we learn about them, the more fun they become. I’m also happy you enjoyed our LilSil headcanons!

Oh, Sebek and Silver are painfully underrated and underrepresented in this blog, they deserve much more love and art from us. So I’ll gladly share some headcanons. As always, some of them are spicy, some of them are not.

Silver was Sebek’s first crush. One would say that his first crush was Malleus, but with Malleus the feelings are quite different in scale and nature, and whatever Sebek felt towards Silver was closer to a childhood crush. That being said, Sebek never recognized these feelings, he isn’t the smartest when it comes to his own emotions + frankly he’s being a tsundere. Silver doesn’t fully realise Sebek’s crush either.

Sebek finds Silver stupidly pretty and it pisses him off, he’ll never admit that he actually likes the way he looks and that he stares at his long eyelashes when Silver sleeps sometimes. The embarrassment of this act makes Sebek yell at Silver to wake up even louder than he otherwise would have.

They are actually much closer to each other and much more physically comfortable with each other than one would assume. Grabbing, touching, they do all these things quite casually, even though there are moments when every touch feels very… intense. In a good way.

They are also surprisingly attentive to each other’s mood for someone who is so focused on his own narrow interests (Sebek) and someone who is constantly sleeping (Silver). If one of them feels concerned or troubled, the second one is definitely going to notice and try to help and support him, but not directly. Well, this one is more of an observation than a headcanon lol

They are one of those couples who can feel mutual tension for years, experience a strong yearning to be with the other, but never act upon their feelings openly, because they just decided that they are anything (childhood friends, fellow soldiers), but not lovers. Of course, these are the walls that exist only in their heads. That won’t stop them from kissing and even having sex sometimes though.

Lilia expects them to get together one day though. He assumed they would do it eventually when he first saw these two interact. Sometimes he gets frustrated because he sees that the boys kinda want each other but don’t do anything… Guess Lilia is going to have to play cupid with these two idiots.

All of Sebek’s and Silver’s “first” were spontaneous and happened in the heat of the moment. Silver was surprised when Sebek kissed him for the first time, but didn’t push him away. And then they started to kiss more, and then some other time they felt too hot and Sebek started rubbing against Silver’s leg. They always try to stop themselves before things get too far, but they are horrible at it, so after a couple of weeks of these spontaneous moments they are going to have sex.

Sebek always nibs on Silver’s tongue when they’re kissing, but if Silver asks him not to do that, he gets mad and says that he doesn’t do anything and Silver is stupid for complaining about this nonsense. Silver, on the other hand, sucks the tip of Sebek’s tongue gently when they kiss, and it drives Sebek insane – it shouldn’t feel that good (it’s stupid Silver after all!), but it does. Where the hell did he learn that?

When Silver falls asleep during sex (oops), Sebek always wakes him up especially rudely. He is rude as he is, but if he notices Silver nodding off during sex, he gets super mad. Sometimes he tugs on his hair, sometimes he slaps either his butt or his cheeks. Sometimes he bites Silver, and with how strong his bite force is, it’s always a rude awakening. But the sound that Silver makes when he wakes up after getting bitten is too sweet and arousing for Sebek to stop doing that.

Silver isn’t loud at all during sex, but sometimes Sebek grabs his face with his hand trying to silence him. Even though Sebek was making even more of a noise than Silver… It really doesn’t make sense, but both of them feel too aroused by the situation to address that.

you as the WolfBoyGuy and me as someone who has just recently seen the puppy light, do you have any tips or what you'd consider Required Reading to get a good grip on writing wolf boys? moreso karu than garu just because i personally have a hard time writing dudes with as much bluster and "doesn't tend to default to conventionally agreed on niceties". i have (admittedly mild) torments I'd like to put him through >_>

Anon is asking me about blorbo... I have been training for this for so long... behold now the ramblings of a man possessed by two wolves. I'll talk a bit about how I approach writing Karu and then include some curated recs.

It took me some time to really get going on wolfboy fics; I also found it challenging to handle Karu's characterization. Two big reasons why:

Tsunderes are just difficult to do if you're grounded in realism. It's a very 'anime' archetype and people don't behave quite like that. This makes it harder to naturally reach for reasonable/appropriate responses when putting the character in situations. The big want/think/say/do splits can also complicate straightforward scenarios (e.g. the character wants something and does what he needs to do in order to get it. This path is often closed to the tsundere).

The game gives little insight into Karu's inner world. NU: Carnival is very dialogue-heavy in its narrative. When we do get introspection, it's often Eiden-focused. This means we basically never get to see the thought process that leads Karu to act this way or that, except in the rare instances in which he talks to himself (like in some H scenes when he goes "ugh it feels so good but-").

The style that I ended up developing for my angry wolf boy writings follows these principles:

Keep him silly. This is because I fundamentally see Karu as a comical character. Yeah, his personality can be traced back to traumas and there's a lot of interesting stuff to explore in that regard, but I am not personally interested in that tbh. The reason I love him is the wacky nonsense and ridiculous behavior that we see in the game. It was at first sight for me. I didn't need depth and I still don't XD Any advice and references I provide are skewed by that. I have a preference for almost never taking him seriously.

Mind his 'narrativization' tendencies. Karu is comically very enamored by the idea/narrative that he's a mighty warrior with many great skills who will conquer humanity and who should be respected and served. On some level, he knows this isn't entirely true, so he will sometimes (try to) avoid situations that would bring attention to his shortcomings. But most often he's trying to prove himself and get others to share his narrative. When something or someone reinforces the narrative, he gets proud, pleased or happy-flustered. When something or someone goes against the narrative, he gets annoyed and angry-flustered. He is very good at ignoring reality, however. Even though he'll seemingly take exception to every little slight, he moves on very quickly and pretends nothing happened. And though he's stubborn, he's also willing to surrender, cut his losses and 'try another day' when he's foiled.

Mix his narrativization with the narration a lot. This kind of free indirect discourse is just my style in general, but with Karu I find myself using it more intensely, to such an extent that the narration can get quite dialogue-like in how it expresses his thoughts. When I want to portray a 'tsundere stumble' moment, I sometimes make the narration interrupt itself as Karu consciously aborts a line of thinking that would lead him to unacceptable conclusions.

Let him just be rude for no reason and with little consequence. Karu's default way of addressing and dealing with people (other than Kuya) is rudeness. At best, he attempts some form of condescension in which the reason he's doing something 'nice' is because you're so weak and he's so awesome or whatever. Most characters seem to simply not mind his behavior and, again, it's usually played for laughs anyway.

Bibliography of Karu Studies

Keep in mind that many Karu fics are kuyaru, and Karu in kuyaru is quite different from the core of the character, since he's uniquely eager to please Kuya. Still, even kuyarus can have some nice insight.

who let the dogs out has a lot of juicy Karu inner conflict, and it even explores the ways in which such hangups make him outwardly grumpier. Due to kuyaru, it ultimately leads him to a place of submission, but his initial thoughts are very in-character.

Baser Instincts is a kuyaru in which Kuya gets to see the pups in a new light, because they help him in a difficult situation. It's another great source of inspiration for Karu struggling to express his feelings.

Bow Down! explores how he might react to Eiden letting him top, in a very true-to-character way.

Lonely at the Top is Karu/Dante, which means you get to see Karu at his prickliest and most insufferable, and how that can be managed.

A Matter of Pride is a good example of the 'concessions' dynamic that can be done in Eiden/Karu.

Goshujin-Ai is an older Karu/Yakumo and a good example of Karu feeling comfortable and doing the 'attempts at condescension' thing I mentioned before.

Slave number one, rub my chest again is me speculating on what it might look like for Karu to ask Eiden to do things to him and try to control sex.

Warden slander wolf Commander is probably a good example of the 'fine I give up but I'll get you next time' potential of Karu, as well as the kind of bleed-heavy narration I talked about.

Master, do you have another wolf besides me?! delves into Karu's potential for jealousy as a way of expressing affection. It's pretty canon-compliant because most of it is adapted from NEON Carnival.

There are many other fics in the Karufic Archive, but I think the ones above are among the best for the purposes of thinking about the writing.

10 Favorite Moments of Snark in BL

This one came is as an ask from the lovely @solitaryandwandering and there are tons of options so I just picked some of mine and labeled them top 10. I reserve the right to change my mind if a remember better.

Quite a few of these came from truly terrible BLs, I wonder if that has to do with me remembering them. Like they stood out as moments of delightful charm in a sea of sewage?

1. Just talk!

Ae getting annoyed with TinCan in A Chance At Love.

Of course it’s MAME first, but the idea of her using one of her most popular characters (whom she fucked over) to criticize miscommunication as a narrative driver (which is her fucking calling card) was just the ironic poop version of a chef’s kiss. (Sorry, I don’t know how else to put it.)

2. Saucing out of jealousy

Let’s just get MAME out of the way, shall we? Type (in TharnType) is an absolute banger at the pithy quip in a very agro way and I love a lot of his lines. I mean calling your lover “crybaby” when you finally tell him you love him? Epic snark. Also the “you can finally stop complaining about us” to Techno is so good.

But my personal favorite, hands sown, is the throwing a sauce bottle. Talk about product placement. (Although said senior’s snarky, “It’s fun to see a big baby agitated” about Type, was also pretty darn great.)

3. I’m so gay

In Rainbow Prince, the fact that Art’s focused pursuit is patently obvious and his subordinates are still careful about it was just really funny to me. It reminded me of my youth when friends got surprised when I came out. Don’t get me wrong, my coming out was perfectly serviceable at the time, but also the ones who were surprised I was like...

4. Ate the phonebook

Bright in SOTUS (played by Off) is a wonderfully snarky character. I love the way he is self deprecating about being a bad student, even in front of his juniors, and the time he leads them in prayer? So funny.

But my favorite is his one shot “Did he eat the national register” when Kong is showing off his memory for names in one of the hazing sequences.

Like serious moment of scripted brilliance.

Ah me, back in the days when most Thai BLs had really good scripts....

5. Goodnight, you fucker

Kao’s fandi-way in the Kiss series.

This is a linguistic one. It’s just I already had grocked the notion of fandi na as being a cute thing couples use with each other (kind of like “sweet dreams, please?”) to see Kao make this super rude when Pete is begging him for it, is so much THEM, their dynamic, it’s particularly snarky and on character.

Also, you know me, i had to pick a linguistic one.

6. Rome getting his own back

Rome in Puppy Honey is such a sweet soft character but also so much owning his own identity, and so steady about it. It was just really fun to see him get one up on Pick.

Even if they both know it’s actually a compliment.

Also should out to Porsche’s moment of quip, “I enjoy this scene a little too much” when he catches his bestie rolling around in paint with cute boy.

7. Invitation?

Tian actually has quite a few moments of snark in Tale of a Thousand Stars. (”You know how to sweet talk now?’). But honestly this is a phrase I use constantly IRL so I was just happy to see it show up in a Thai BL.

8. Just alpha bitch bitching it up

Look is this level of confrontation actually considered snark? I don’t know but Miriam’s defense of Chon in Tonhon Chonlatee is epic. Top level. It’s a real pleasure to watch a female bestie take out an evil femme fatale machine-gun style.

Yes there are others, the bffs (best female friends) in Together With Me and Dark Blue Kiss spring to mind.

9. Calling out the industry moments

There are quite a few of these, and a BL that is already bad and full of tropes has to be careful because they are reviewing themselves badly. And yet they do it anyway. This example comes from one of this year’s worst, My Secret Love:

Our Days has

“Can I love you, my tsundere”

“This year so many Y series came out”

“I think the script writers are at fault”

“Your acting skills suck”

all of which come off as more rich and inappropriate than snark in such a terrible show.

It’s not always bad show tho.

Cherry Blossoms After Winter scene card calling out the “only one bed” trope.

And in on of the Taiwanese BLs there is a moment where a side character tells on of the leads that “tsundere is so out of fashion” but I can’t remember which show.

10. Seme subscription service

Best of the best (IMHO) comes from Korea, who generally specializes in earnest, not snark. But...

Semantic Error is one of my favorite BL’s because the two leads are nearly entirely comprised of snark. SangWoo’s “if my heart wasn’t beating I’d be dead” was perfection, since it also takes a common trope to account.

And when JaeYoung is grouchy and says "No lettuce, eat perilla leaves instead” I bark laughed. Also the “oops my hand slipped” after he shot that dart at the drunk asshole in the pub. Both of these also involve physical comedy moments, so they aren’t strictly just snark they're visual gags but still? *kiss kiss kiss*

But I had to pick seme subscription service as my favorite moment of snark from this series. Because it is both of them, snipping back and forth.

And that’s it. That’s my top 10.

Other good ones?

KinnPorsche Pete has a few the time at the table with the minor family and the time in chains when he’s reading a book.

Most of Team’s responses to Win in Until We Meet Again. from “You’re so picky” to “Don’t even think about it.”

Half of what Pond says in Love By Chance.

All of what Pure says in My Gear and Your Gown.

I don’t love Theory of Love but Third’s internal dialogue (when he’s not whining and pining) and his occasionally take downs are pretty darn great.

Adachi’s internal reactions to Kurosawa’s thoughts in Cherry Magic, especially after they are dating. “Everything is so mushy.”

Akoi’s internal dialogue and self criticism snark in My Love Mix Up.

TangYi’s “too soft” in H3: Trapped.

Noh’s “Fine, yes” at the end of Love Sick. Not a snarky character in general, just a wise and sweet one, but at the end, yes, snark.

NamGoong in Light On Me, the sweetest side character of snark.

Pretty much all of Mob’s thoughts and dialogue in Absolute BL.

Preview of Chapter 11 of ❝The Rejected Soulmate❞ [K.Bakugou]

Summary: At the age of four, Aizawa Araisa met an ash-blonde boy, and years later, he found out that he was her soulmate and rejected her soon after. At the age of ten, she was kidnapped and saved by her uncle but he got severely injured in the process. For her safety, she moved away from her hometown, leaving her loved ones and soulmates behind. Six years later, Araisa comes back and attends UA with the familiar hot-headed tsundere that fate wants them together. What he doesn't know is that she's running out of time.

As the school day came, she held onto herself as her dad drove her to school. She never liked riding to school as others see that as a privilege, but seeing her circumstances and the recent news about her, she's glad her dad drove her. "Will you be ok?" Shouta asked as he looked at his rear mirror to Ara.

He watched her nod a bit and grab her bag. She had heard that question too many times to feel numb about it. She got out of the car and walked her way towards the entrance. She could practically feel everyone looking at her. It felt very weird. She noticed other students whispering to one another as they glanced at the young girl.

"Oh my gosh! It's her!"

"She defeated all those monsters, right?"

"She must love the attention."

"She has a lot of benefits. Her uncle is the number one hero!"

Ara felt herself tripping.

All the voices were overwhelming her. It was hard enough to maintain the inner "monster" she had bottled up. She quickly ran towards the stairs and hid behind/under the stairs as she hyperventilated. She crouched and did her breathing exercises to calm her down.

Breath in.

Breath out.

And repeat.

She was so in her bubble that she didn't realize someone found her. "Are you ok, mademoiselle?" Aoyama asked, but he never got a reply back. He sat beside her and tapped her shoulder. That seemed to wake her up. She looked beside her to see a new presence. "Oh, good morning, Aoyama," she greeted the foreigner.

"You don't seem well, oui?" He asked her. He watched her nod. There was silence after that—awkward silence. Despite the two being in the same group for English and their seats being front/behind one another, they never really struck up a conversation unless it was for school or cheese.

They learned a lot about each other though, thanks to English Class, so you could say that they went past the acquaintance level. Ara stood up and said, "We should get to class." She fixed her bag on her shoulder and walked away with Aoyama following behind her quickly as he caught up with her. "Cheese?" Ara raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"Cheese," Aoyama mentioned as he pulled out a small block of cheese. Not wanting to be rude, she accepted the cheese. She looked at all of the edges to see if it was good and she took a bite. "Hm, that's delicious," she replied.

She liked cheese, but she had never tasted this type of cheese before. "Oui! I'm glad you liked it," Aoyama did his signature pose as he said that. "Well, uh. Thanks for the cheese. What type of cheese is this?" She asked.

"It's gouda," he answered. "I shall let you taste other cheeses sometime like we talked about," he mentioned. "That would be cool! I've forgotten we talked about that during our fight," she thought back during the Sports Festival. "Kesu!" She turned around to see a crowd running towards her.

"Please sign my shirt!"

"You were amazing!"

"Can I get an autograph?"

"We love you!"

She grabbed something from her watch and slapped it onto Aoyama with her bag. He screamed as he got jetpacked away from her. She ran and used her quirk to run faster than usual. From all the staring and whispering students, she didn't think there would be students reacting this way!

She slammed the door shut as soon as she got inside. She squealed a bit and held the door before they could overpower her. "Oh, shit!" Denki shouts and Sato helps out with the other door.

Ara closed the doors with her quirk and made the cement merge with the door. Ara sighed and faced her back to the door out of breath. "Good internship?" Denki asked and she glared at him. She was a complete mess now after that run and overstimulation.

"She did get a lot of attention back in Hosu City. Thank goodness Endeavor got you on time when the Nomu grabbed you," Yaomomo held a hand on Ara's shoulder. "Arachan!" Mina cried and held onto Ara for dear life. "I got scared for you!" She shouts.

"I'm ok," Ara muttered and placed a hand on her hair. "How's your eye?" Jirou asked as she noticed Ara didn't have a bandage anymore. "Yeah, it's ok now," she answered briefly. "Class is about to start, get to your seats!" Iida shouted.

Ara got to her seat and sat properly as Mina gave her a big hug before she got back to her seat. A shadow cast on her and she looked up to see Baku—Katsuki. She scrunched her face as he pushed her hair back and removed her hair tie.

She could feel his hands smoothing out her hair and feel him tying her hair up. After he was done, he left and she was left neater than before. She could feel eyes on her. What was that? She thought embarrassingly as class started.

Please lmk if these are accurate, I want to get them accurate, especially my faves! These took over two hours to write so I hope these are okay!

Pre-crash, I think they would all kinda gain a crush on each other as the years went by. After the crash they would be insanely protective over each other and would form a clan that hunts down any Yellowjacket that denies their love, and eats them both for food AND out of revenge. The few that survived were the ones that didn’t deny each other’s love.

Misty would by far be the most violent yandere of them all, Shauna coming in second place and Natalie coming in third place.

I will describe how all of the girls are in terms of their yandere selves.

First up, teen Shauna: we all saw how violent adult Shauna got about her car being stolen, which is understandable, and also how her teen self beat Lottie to a pulp out of rage after she birthed her stillborn, so… what else could she do to a human when overtaken by jealousy?

Before the crash, her jealousy and protectiveness would be more subtle, quickly moving one of her girlfriends away if she was starting to feel that jealousy.

But In general, pre-crash, she would be very subtle with her behaviors and would try to show how she felt to the girls later by bottling it up until she couldn’t anymore. But after the crash? She would be absolutely animalistic toward anyone that crossed her or her girlfriends. She would not hesitate to hunt them the fuck down and gut them like she did to the bodies of she and her girlfriends’ past meals.

Shauna’s yandere self would be violent after the precrash and she be calm at first but then would lash out at anybody who denied her love, before getting forceful and violent with her love. If they still continued to deny, she would get she and her girlfriends to hunt them down. The fact that they were being hunted down would be all because of Shauna. Shauna would act very much like a wild animal and would be threatening as well. But when her love wasn’t being denied with her other girlfriends, she would be affectionate, sweet, and content with them.

Teen Taissa could be pretty blunt and rude at times, so what’s stopping her from letting her jealousy get to her and start ravaging for her girlfriends? With her alter personality, “The Bad One”, it is shown to be very hostile… so what if these yandere tendencies got to her alter personality, too?

Before and after the crash Taissa would make it blatantly obvious that she was jealous over one of her girlfriends, wrapping her arms around the girls and taking them away.

In general, pre-crash, she would behave similarly to her post-crash self. She would be blunt and rude if you were getting on her nerves for ignoring her love, if one of her girlfriends was doing so. She would be more of like a tsundere-yandere, but would express that she deeply cared about and loved the girls, her girlfriends. While not necessarily violent, she would get episodes during her sleep as she usually already did. These episodes would result in her doing odd things out of love, like stalking the girls without knowing it.

This is because her yandere tendencies would seep into her alternate personality, The Bad One. She would be rude at first if her love was being denied, but then would join the girls in hunting down anyone who weren’t accepting of she or the girls’ love. She would act on increasingly violent things out of love during her sleep, that being like holding a knife up to one of the girl’s throats if they were denying her love, and also potentially wanting to eat them because “if she couldn’t have them, then no one else could”. Eating those would deny their love would be like a control thing for the girls, wanting to be in control and all. She’s another one who would become animalistic.

Next up: Teen Misty. My favorite girl. Oh boy. We already know she has quite the psychotic dark side to her. But what would happen if… she was a full blown yandere toward her girlfriends? What would her behaviors be like? We all saw how she was with Coach Scott, but… what if instead of a boy she was obsessed with, it was the Yellowjackets?

Quick note: Even though she isn’t formally part of the soccer team, she is the equipment manager, the girls would still fall in love with her and become obsessed with her, too, because of her nerdy, geeky, enthusiastic self toward them. While at first weird and loser-ish to the Yellowjackets, they’d learn to love her very quick. Every time she cheered them on they would make it blatantly obvious they were staring at her in the corner with Coach Scott, which would impair their soccer games a little bit because they couldn’t concentrate on the ball. She would care about the girls deeply, a little too much though. But the Yellowjackets would care about her a little too much too.

I see Misty as almost… like, one of the leaders of she and the Yellowjackets’ polyamorous relationship. She’d act on all of the plans that she and her girlfriends came up with with no hesitation. But anyway, back to it! Misty would be the most violent one which was pretty obvious as well, which adds on to her being one of the leaders of she and the Yellowjackets’ relationship. She would go out of her way to sabotage the girls, whether that be physically or mentally so that they could come to her for support. And it would work. Some of them would even enjoy the physical/mental pain. She would be one of the more quietly, yet at the same time, outwardly aggressive girls.

Misty would be the one to get most of the kills when hunting down the girls due to her intelligent, yet also predatory, or animalistic, behavior. She would feel satisfaction after the kills and take a bite out of their raw flesh due to her need for control, the girls probably finding strangely very attractive due to all of them with their similar violently yandere nature. I think that she would be the most violent one also because of how she would intentionally hurt others to get to her girlfriends. She would also intentionally hurt her girls in order to take care of them after. Like she’d intentionally trip them to swoop in and act like their savior too, which is why during that poisoned home-made wine (?) scene, the girls wouldn’t be all that mad because I feel like they would all be pretty sadistic and also masochistic.

Next: Teen Natalie- Natalie was always very blunt and bold as well as playful and caring toward the girls. She’s always struggled with her mental health and addiction, too, so… what if she found herself something that made her happy for once, and one which… she got obsessed with?

Before the crash, Nat would be very flirtatious with the girls, flirting with them one way or another. But then when her jealous yandere tendencies came in, she wouldn’t exactly be… herself when she was jealous. She’d make threatening gestures and remarks to whoever was making her jealous. After the crash, she’d be much more indulged in her yandere tendencies.

Such as being heavily violent. Like mischievously sabotaging those who dared try and touch her girls. Like Travis. She wasn’t necessarily the violent type… at first, so she wouldn’t get violent unless asked to by the other girls. But eventually, she’d be extremely violent, trying to shoot the background girls or various other animals since they didn’t accept she and the other girls’ love. I think that Travis would try to get closer to her, not realizing that she was part of the polyamorous relationship with the Yellowjackets from before the crash. But Natalie would reject him. When she saw him trying to go after Jackie afterward, something snapped within her and she ended up hurting him. I think that she’d physically sabotage him, so that he got hurt. She wouldn’t hesitate to hurt those indirectly who crossed her way. I think she’d hold a special place in her heart for Misty and Lottie as well.

Natalie’s yandere self in general at first would be subtle. That’s the one key word. Subtle. Then she would be overly jealous and possessive, and would be very violent in her own way. Now she is overly possessive, the most possessive one of the group, and would be kind of dominating, like marking up the girls to claim them as hers. She was the official leader of their little relationship, but would allow Misty and Lottie to be her co-leaders, if that made sense. She would be the one to watch out for her girls and to make sure they were okay. After Jackie and Laura Lee’s deaths, she was devastated, feeling like a failure. Her yandere self would be fiercely protective as well. She would be incredibly dangerous in her own way too though. Because she knew how to fuck someone up with her manipulative skills. She would also be a manipulative yandere and would manipulate her girls into listening to her too. She knew how to shoot, so she’d probably end up shooting one of the background for not accepting she and her girlfriends’ love.

Teen Van would be pretty aggressive, as shown by Shauna’s dream when she kind of did that growl thing. While not necessarily as violent as Nat, she would be in fourth place in terms of violence and aggression… but she wasn’t always like this… what if her yandere tendencies just triggered because of how madly in love she was with the girls?

Before and after the crash Van would still be insanely possessive over her girls, especially Taissa. She would be relatively aggressive but also playful before, she seems like the type for her yandere self to get into fights, so I’d imagine that at school, she’d get into fights with people who crossed her or her girls.

Since it’s been probably two hours since I’ve done this, Van being the last one that I’m doing, I’m going to keep Van’s short and sweet. Van always gave me a possessive sort of vibe to her. Like possessive over Taissa or the girls, so I feel like she would be just that. She would be the mort possessive one of the group aside from Lottie, of course. She would also be aggressive toward the background girls for not accepting their love, becoming almost animalistic like Shauna. She would be pretty angry with them and would have to resist hurting them for denying them and for their love toward them being unrequited. She wouldn’t be angry with Misty for killing Crystal, in fact she would be happy based on her confused and disgusted reactions when Misty showed her some sexual affection. Now keep this in mind the girls would never ask for consent from one another, so Crystal’s responses were perfectly valid, since the Yellowjackets who were in a relationship were completely comfortable with showing each other sexual affection without having to ask for consent from one another.

Teen Lottie, my second favorite girl, always gave me sort of a yandere esque vibe, similarly to Misty… she was always a leader, always very controlling… but what if her controlling tendencies are taken a step further with her having developed into a yandere after she got into a relationship with her girls?

Before the crash when she was taking her meds, she’d be less extreme with the severity of her possessiveness, but her caretaking, nurturing attitude would still be there. She would be a nicer yandere, however, as soon as she stopped her meds… she would start to become… controlling and obsessive over the girls. Instead of being that calm leader, she would be calm…ly dangerous.

Lottie would believe that the wilderness wanted them here, wanted them to have this kind of relationship too, with the girls. She would firmly believe that Shauna was conceiving she and the other Yellowjackets’ baby, and although Taissa was a bit stubborn at first and said that that wasn’t true, she would eventually give in, much like how the other girls believed that was true and were followers of Lottie. But when they found out the baby was a stillborn, they worshipped his body before burying him and honoring him per Lottie and Shauna’s request. Her yandere self would be calm but dangerous. She would be the second most possessive girl of the group. She would be reserved but would make sure to own the girls, have control over them.

Her yandere type would be protective and possessive. She’d hunt anyone of them down, too, for crossing paths with her girls, she wouldn’t be animalistic like some of the other girls, but she would be incredibly controlling over the girls, to which they would follow her. Since some of them are incredibly either sadistic or masochistic, they would listen to what Lottie wanted out of them with ease. The other yandere Yellowjackets would be incredibly obedient with a yandere Lottie. Lottie would be the more dominant one of the group, believe it or not. She, Natalie, and Misty would be the most dominant, yandere-esque girls due to their behaviors and personalities. The girls would be easy to control in Lottie’s eyes, but she wouldn’t see it as controlling them, no, not at all. She’d see it as taking care of them, which is what she believed was her true purpose. To take care of her girlfriends, especially Misty and Natalie.

Since Jackie and Laura Lee die, I will give them a paragraph each.

Jackie would die before the other girls’ yandere tendencies got to an extreme with each other. I think that before it got heavy with their yandere selves, she would be in that same relationship with the other girls, but before the crash their yandere selves wouldn’t be that bad. But since they are all yanderes, Jackie would have some traits herself that could be considered concerning or odd. I think she’d be pretty subtle with her yandere esque traits due to the fact that nobody would suspect such a thing about her. She was popular, pretty, perfect, nobody would suspect a thing. When in reality she would be watching… just watching… while also planning her next move to control the girls. She’d also have a control issue and would want to own the girls. But it wouldn’t get bad enough to where she was outwardly violent since she would die the first day of the snowstorm. Instead of sleeping outside, the next day she would go out to find some food and would get lost in the snow, never to be found again.

If Laura Lee seems too nice to be a yandere, think again. That ‘too nice’ tactic would be something that she’d use to keep her yandere tendencies hidden. She would be the type to not be so violent as to where she’d hurt others, but she would threaten others to keep them away from the girls. Much like Jackie, nobody would suspect a thing about Laura. Laura would be the more ‘innocent’ one of the group relationship, but she would be extremely obedient with them, and the girls would really love that about her. They would treat her like a delicate little flower, would protect her and own her. She would be the type of yandere that would be heavily masochistic and she would allow her love interests to do whatever the hell they wanted with her, and still love it. She’d even let her girlfriends hurt her and would still love it! Because it was from them… anyway, she would be pretty obedient, honestly, she would be the more nicer yandere. She would necessarily get violent, but she’d be very protective over her girls and would be submissively possessive. Like sitting on the girls’ laps. Anyway, her death would be devastating for the girls, when she tried to set flight to get help. The wilderness didn’t want her to go away.

Something more wholesome would be that the Yellowjackets girls who were dating would all go into a cuddle puddle while wearing their fur winter outfits and masks during wintertime in an affectionate, lovey dovey way and also to produce warmth for one another.

And lastly, Mari, Gen, Melissa, Akilah, and Crystal. They would fall victims to the girls after denying their love.

We all know how rude Mari was, so the girls’ obsession with her would be unrequited. As soon as they tried to show that possessiveness over or that sexual affection toward her, she would snap and move away and then say something she shouldn’t, leading toward her demise. The girls would get angry, and I think that the rude thing she would say would be directed to Misty, resulting in both her rage, and also her girlfriends’ rage. They would hunt her down, kill her, and eat her as a result.

Gen, Melissa, and Akilah were always kind of rude, and kind of just half-assed if that makes sense, so I can imagine them being horrified by the girls’ relationship and obsessions with one another. I don’t remember how they behaved much, I just remember how they picked on Misty for her friendship with Crystal. They’d especially be horrified of Misty’s behavior, since they kind of picked on both her and Crystal and poked fun during their time in the wilderness. The girls would get fiercely protective over Misty and would kinda gang up on the three girls.

The rest of the main Yellowjackets wouldn’t exactly become… obsessed with these three girls, even from the start, due to their behavior and how they didn’t want to be in the Yellowjackets’ relationship despite the fact that they were welcoming toward the other five girls, Misty even wanted Crystal to join. But when they crossed the line with Misty, the Yellowjackets ganged up on them, hunted down, and ate them, by Misty, Nat, and Lottie’s request. Lottie would believe that the wilderness wanted the Yellowjackets to have this kind of relationship and didn’t want anybody getting in the way of it.

Crystal would be kind of special to Misty, since she thought that they were getting somewhere and that she could get into a relationship with her. Some of the girls noticed and started getting jealous over Misty though, resulting in some of them hanging up on her, but Misty would be quick to reassure them that she would be allowing Crystal into their relationship. Misty’s crush for Crystal was very unrequited, and when she told her about her feelings as well as the deranged things she’s done, thinking Crystal would be comfortable with it, she wasn’t.

Which is why, after her not so meditated accidental murder, Misty would ask her girlfriends not to eat her. She would actually feel horrible for once. Instead of backing her off the cliff, I could see her pushing Crystal off the edge of the cliff intentionally out of rage after Crystal didn’t accept her for what she’s done or for her feelings. Misty would be horrified though, since she did deeply care for Crystal too. In this, Misty wouldn’t lie to her girlfriends and would instead tell them what happened, and due to their yandere natures and the fact that all of them were all at least a certain level of violent, they wouldn’t mind. They were all highly dangerous and animalistic in their own way anyway, so they’d be hypocritical if they did feel horrified of what she was doing.

Alright, first things first-*rambling activated*

From Day 1 of getting my sights on the Twisted Wonderland art alone, Sebek was definitely one of my favorite characters designs. He just looked rad as hell with the green hair, them antique green-gold peepers, that bone structure. Mwah, chef kiss 🤌 then Hairdown!Sebby came into existence? Oh man. 10/10 💚

So I didn’t completely fill in the “mean fandom” square cuz I see/have seen a lot of polarized responses to Sebek in the fandom. People have either LOVED or HATED (or loved to hate lol) Sebek from what I’ve seen. I get it: at first glance he is very rude, loud, stubborn, obsessive, etc etc.

Lately, oh yes, he has gotten more popular across the board due to the Diasomnia chapter releasing on both servers, and his inclusion in side events, which makes sense. Croc boi has gotten more screen time so we get to know him better and see him interact with his dormmates and the other characters. Also shout out to @nuitthegoddess and @ryllen whose Sebek x OC/Yuu content endears me to the tsundere croc even more lol (aka “blorbo by proxy”)

But me personally? I haven’t disliked Sebek since the beginning. I thought he was kinda funny and silly in that he is so boisterous and hyper focused to a fault. Lately, though - from seeing his interactions with Silver and other characters in side events and the main story, he has grown on me tremendously. Some of my favorite cards that I have are Sebek cards (Camp Vargas!Sebek I’m looking at you, buddy)

so yeah, I’m a bit anxious about our crocodile boi because I’ve gotten attached and once you get past the loud angry Malleus obsessed nerd-jock, Sebek is actually a very kind, loyal person and I don’t want anything bad to happen to him but I do wanna know more about his background.

I would love for there to be a closer look into his upbringing as a fae halfling and how it’s affected his self image and other things psychologically/emotionally and such. That would be hella fascinating!

FREE SPACE: I am lil’ biased cuz I have had a deep love of reptiles from lizards, alligators and crocodiles to dinosaurs and dragos so that makes me very fond of Sebek too lol 💚

also! i know you didnt ask i just wanted to add in some possible ideas for a heroes v villains for savannaclaw? we have characters like zazu (the bird advisor) that you could possibly find a way to squeeze in? he seemed like a character that was kinda (or at least meant to be) clever in a way that could go head to head against leona? maybe there'd be some kinda competition and he was a team manager or strategist that meets the reader behind the scenes at a tournament maybe as a favor to scout the competition for leona?

or maybe he works at a museum/botanical garden that the nrc class visits on a field trip. that while leona slips away to go nap or something and MC goes to look for him runs into zazu?

I can appreciate why people love Idia, but dude just isn't for me. And it’s not even the awful-nerd-speak English translations (though that doesn’t help). He’s just mean a lot of the time. Don’t get me wrong, all the Twst Boys are AwfulTM. But his is just… a different brand. Maybe as a fellow piece of nerd trash, it’s more recognizable as the kind of insufferable “intellectual loner” type people I’ve met in real life and therefore rage about. Maybe it’s that Hades is one of my favorite Disney villains and Idia just doesn’t have the presence or charisma that I was hoping to see from that. Idk. (Though I do really think his relationship with Ortho is adorable. That is the one (1) redeeming thing). I have tried to grow to like him. So, so, hard. His design is awesome. I am a sucker for smart, insomniac, weirdo characters. But he just does not click with my brain. It doesn’t help that every time I see fandom stuff for him, I feel he’s grossly mischaracterized as an “uwu soft boi.”

Anyways! Rant over lol

But yes! I was debating on a few different routes to take. I think it may turn into less of a romantic interest vs romantic interest sort of situation, and more just Leona vs the family that's driving him absolutely fucking wild and stealing all your time away because he's too tsundere and would absolutely just tell you to buzz off whenever they try and steal you away, even though it's driving him batshit lol

Now that I've written for every character at this point (excluding some of the staff: sorry Trein, Sam and Vargas; I gotta dig out that Faculty!Reader draft I have sitting in Google Docs from a few weeks ago lol)

I am still in a lot of pain so I am just fucking around and having fun until I feel well enough to properly write again lmao (maybe I'll do a "taking care of you after surgery" series and go full self-indulgent haha). I think the hardest thing for me about tier lists is that I am so full of love that putting characters in anything but S tier is really hard for me? I know it's silly haha

Mitsuba himself is just so fussy and picky about who he's around that he... LETS the default become Tsukasa!? He rejects so much due to shallow reasons or, I don’t know, maybe reasons of being more afraid of rejection from things that would mean more? (I can’t tell if that’s giving him too much credit or not...).... Tsukasa is the lowest common denominator. Not Tsukasa’s fault!

If we should be mad at anyone for Putting Mitsuba Around Tsukasa, it is, Mitsuba. Who fsr actively ignores Natsuhiko due to his harmless cringe, and is too tsundere or something to intrude on Kou more (or, I don't know, he doesn't want to get bonked or blasted by lightning or yelled at that day, and all Tsukasa might do on a random day is chase him with the equivalent of a horrible big spider. Also it’s probably bad for the ego to have to put yourself in front of someone as an active choice, VS just ‘staying at home’ with Tsukasa who is Just There, accessible). But man, honestly I’m always depressed about that aside comic where Mitsuba sadly spectates Kou having a great time with his friends (head empty, not thinking about that lonely ghost boy at all I guess), tries to be cute/cheeky by stealing his lunch, and gets dragged outside and beaten for it, then flicked in the head while sincerely apologizing gklj;sljfksdlg;jdkglfgfklgf;gglgf I would also just hang out with Tsukasa.

.... but I do objectively know that for some reason, Mitsuba really wants Kou’s attention specifically (he just doesn’t want to have to always remind him he exists....)

.. I wish Kou was more patient for your impulsive rudeness... I think against Tsukasa, Mitsuba can scream whatever insults he wants or be rude and, it doesn’t, matter lol. Tsukasa can’t earnestly be offended by Mitsuba. He does not care if you call him insane or stupid. Maybe that makes him weirdly more compatible. Renders Mitsuba’s noxious compulsive behavior inert.

Ya hope for more, though it’s hard to know coming whats up. At the moment Mitsuba’s arc is just so based on really tangible goals that it becomes boring for me. I mean, Hanako’s goal with Nene isn’t actually as simple as “make her live” (since it comes more with, ‘destroy my system of thought and value and realign my concept of importance which has been broken for 50 years at least’, and also, ‘I want to exert control over Nene because anything less won’t give me a sense of importance in her life, and I’m deeply insecure and possessive’ AMONG OTHER THINGS) .... I keep hoping Mitsuba’s wish will actually evolve into something, else, because I’d prefer to know like... what he wants out of living. What does living do. He doesn’t even enjoy or relish in his resources as-is, and he didnt when alive, either. He has a chronic gratefulness problem? And he’s self-aware of that in Picture Perfect, like, he’s capable of seeing the living Mitsuba as ungrateful for what he has. But he’s also presently ungrateful for what he has, too, imo? It’s still his key problem. He’s so busy criticizing his options and criticizing everyone around him that I don’t feel like he loves anybody. It’s like-- Mitsuba-- do I have to somehow drop you down an even further rung of isolation, to make you appreciate what Tsukasa’s opened you up to, here and now? What resources you’ve got to try to eke out some joy from?

............ Because Tsukasa has spent untold amounts of untethered time in a spooky house and then in the pit of Hanako’s boundary where no one can reach him, IT’S MAKING IT HARD TO SYMPATHIZE WITH MITSUBA, FOR ME........................ it’s not his fault but COMPARATIVELY, it’s hard to be so invested in Mitsuba’s more cursory and brief loneliness. I mean I also think Tsukasa is more generally unlikable and socially busted than even Mitsuba. I think Mitsuba could.... make a small amount of effort and enjoy dividends, but I don’t really think Tsukasa can alter his nature (and AidaIro assert he doesn’t need to). TSUKASA is enjoying and appreciating what is around him. Its good Mitsuba is always chasing more in that it’s literally the opposite of Hanako’s problem (who is so stubborn about remaining deprived to make a point), but also, he’s always chasing more in a way that doesn’t have him ever stop to value what he does have. I mean, what if an opportunity to become human came at the expense or upheaval of everything he has, right now? I’d love Mitsuba experiencing something that like, earnestly forced him to state and address what he loves about his existence right now.

....I’m always so lost on what improvement is supposed to mean for Mitsuba, because Kou is out here like, “you ARE annoying and shitty and self-centered, that’s the real you, don’t pretend to be fake-nice” which is a little insane to me, it’s like if Nene yelled at Hanako “you are emotionally guarded and defensively rude and intentionally upsetting as a mechanism to keep yourself from vulnerability, that’s the real you”. LIKE.. IT’S NOT THOUGH!!!! It’d be , GOOD, if, people who are defensively rude, could untangle why they feel a need to lash out or keep others at arms length.....!!!! I KINDA DO THINK MITSUBA NEEDS TO WORK ON HIS PERSONALITY not because it’s wrong to be a little rude (I think even a ‘healed’ Hanako would be. shitty.), but because his behavior is so extreme and compulsive that it actively pushes away people!!!! Maybe even disproportionately pushes away people he wants to be closer to! Or, he, doesn’t just ask for what he needs! He can’t just tell Kou he’s lonely and felt left out, that he feels abandoned when Kou is perfectly content with his living friends. I wish Mitsuba could express that without conditions as extreme as Picture Perfect. But if Kou doesn’t see his rude behavior for the ploy it is, HOWWWW is Mitsuba supposed to unpack that on his own??? -I- think Mitsuba has a more earnest needy self under there, and I think the guy calling everyone a dirty pervert is obfuscating that. THERE’S GOTTA BE A MIDDLEGROUND BETWEEN BEING FAKE-NICE AND PERFORMATIVE, AND BEING INCREDIBLY DEFENSIVE. THERE’S GAAAHTTA BEEEEEEE. I don’t know how we’ll find it. It’s like Mitsuba’s on his own for this one.

Man for the Valentines day event, Sakura gets Mitsuba chocolates to make him feel included (obviously, he’s sad and jealous of the students receiving attention....), and Mitsuba rewards that perception with .............. assuming Sakura has a crush on him, then, when she says, no, assuming she must hate him. I ............................................................ Mitsuba has issues to work on 😭 these stakes are so hard Mitsubaaaaa and if you act like this with someone like Kou he literally tazes you. mnrnrggh. What do we DO. WHO WILL HELP ANY OF THIS.

.. its so hard, when Tsukasa appears to wholeheartedly love Amane’s issues, so I understand why Nene is there to... have a problem with his problems. Tsukasa is seemingly, right now, not hurt by his emotionally difficult brother, he doesn’t appear to need Amane to change for his sake. Nene does, so she’s there to shake him up, challenge him while still loving him. Kou both encourages Mitsuba’s personality and reacts negatively to it? What on Earth is he supposed to do about that? hourgh.

He doesn’t have this needlessly gruff exterior, but he *does* seriously exude an aura/attitude that says he is downright rude or nasty with no remorse when provoked. He’s not just an asshole for no reason, this man has got a baseline vibe and anything that comes after that is a reflection of or a reaction to the surrounding energy. As a Pisces in love with tsundere I can happily claim this characterization is ON. POINT.

MC thinks he’ll be brutally honest because that’s just how he is, but really she’s already inside his trust to a certain degree because of 3Tan!Bro, which means she’s close enough that already his instinct is to protect by whatever means necessary. He’d planned on being *just* honest, but then she immediately moved to a whole different zone of comfort/trust when she showed him vulnerability even while being terrified. I genuinely don’t believe he would have been able to be “brutal” with her even if he had thought she was bad in bed. Literally anyone else would get the full unfiltered rundown but even BEFORE they had sex Yoongi was ready to throw down for MC, so I don’t think she was ever at truly risk for hurt feelings.

The man tried, ok? He probably tried to ignore a little crush on MC for a good while before she even showed up at his door looking like a wet dream, then after she did, if I remember correctly, they didn’t really chill for like a year! They kept the distance and did the things they were morally obligated to do after the bro-code goof of fucking your best friend’s little sister. There is S.T.R.E.N.G.T.H. in that. There’s circles within circles of feelings and trust with a character like this, and watching this little journey for both of them never once feels disingenuous or forced because they took the long way around by being as mature as they could about the situation.

Praise kink boys that can’t admit it work HARD to earn their verbal rewards without having to tell on themselves…I see you Yoongi…I see you.

The PINING and how he literally fights his own thought processes in order to maintain loyalty to his friend until he can’t even lie to himself anymore?? UGH!! TOP TIER!!

I might be biased (ha.) because I’m also Pisces but this character *really* is exactly everything I’ve ever imagined or wanted from a Tsundere. Even bro doesn’t get to see the same squishy center of Yoongi the way he allows MC to, and his little hints that turn into all-out statements reminding her that she’s part of a VERY SELECT FEW who get to see him like this–without being snarky or defensive about it because she’s doubting him or not reading him correctly just screams PATIENCE and FUCK if that isn’t hot as all hell.

This story is the best of *everything*. Badass Yoongi? Check. Soft for MC only? Check. SEES HER CONFIDENCE BUT ALSO WHEN SHE NEEDS GENTLE NUDGES TO ACTUALLY FEEL IT *FOR HERSELF*? Check.

Basketball Yoongi. Tangerine Yoongi. Loyal as fuck even when he’s being a brat Yoongi. Silent caretaker Yoongi. Vocal Caretaker Yoongi. LOW-KEY SUBBY AF FOR CONFIDENT WOMEN YOONGI.

1. I am. The most happy that you think this because you’re absolutely right. He’s chill and laid back for the most part buttttt like. House Party? When his kicks were almost scuffed? Lmfaooooo you can just tell he was ready to destroy this man if he really wanted to.

2-3. Love love love the analysis here! It’s true that their dynamic was already different from the start. Reader really wasn’t just anyone, despite her thinking she’s virtually nothing and cannot be anything to Yoongi. And we already know that Yoongi said he’d be there for her regardless. So him grappling with this evolution of feelings is something else🥺 Yoongi was already soft for her from the beginning despite his hard and mysterious and intimidating exterior.
