Honestly, the Birdcage is such an amazing technique for Doflamingo. Itās beautiful and terrifying at the same time, this slowly shrinking bubble with Doffy at its center, cutting through everything on its way, tightening its grip like a fist. I love that itās his nuclear option - it destroys everything in its range, but does so quietly and elegantly.
It is also symbolic, in a way. It traps Doflamingo inside as well, just like heās trapped in the cult of himself that is the Donquixote Family: its controlling force and its first victim. Raised in the cage to be the king his Family needs.

I am speechless, this story is so touching and powerful, and itās a gift for me? š„¹
Iāve already read it five times. A fantastic exploration of Homing and Doffy, both in this au and in general.
An AU of spaceliquid's fic The Price of Conscience, and an extremely late New Year's gift!
He knows he has been inadequate.
How could he not? When he has been so often told; by his father, by the other Dragons, by his own son.
He feels, even now, the urge to curl upon himself with the shame of that time, after Dulcinea had diedā of coming home empty-handed and discouraged, to his boysā gaunt, dirty, bruised. The helpless desperation that plagued him when they looked up at him with desolate eyes.
