AU with four love triangles but they’re all just Clark Kent/Superman and Bruce Wayne/Batman falling for one another’s multiple personas and being super conflicted

Example:

- Clark is falling in love with Bruce, who despite being rich seems like the only decent man in the entire city.

- But at the same time SUPERMAN is falling in love with BATMAN, for being a soggy troubled mess

- Bruce is pining for Clark Kent, the one journalist in Gotham who doesn’t take bribes.

- But BATMAN starts falling for SUPERMAN who seems to always have the right answers and never gives up hope

- and then CLARK falls for BATMAN because he sees him take down fossil fuel executives in an alley in the business district

- Meanwhile BRUCE falls for SUPERMAN because he sees him save the lives of an entire train full of people like it was no big deal

You get:

- Bruce sweating being interviewed by Clark for humanitarian projects hoping he won’t realize he’s Batman

- Clark sweating at the same time hoping Bruce won’t realize he’s Superman

- Superman meeting with Bruce for intel on the bad guys and hoping he won’t realize he’s Clark

- Batman meeting with Clark to give him the inside crime scoop for the paper and hoping he won’t realize he’s Bruce.

- Batman and Superman being relatively normal and comfortable around each other because neither knows to be nervous, but feeling guilty for betraying their respective crushes

Bruce gets accosted by reporters and one of them asks "Is it true that you're in competition with Superman to win Batman's affections?" and he is so taken aback bc what the fuck are they even talking about? There are a million questions going through his head such as, since when was superman into batman? since when was this public knowledge? wtf did bruce say to imply that he was into batman as well? And he doesn't have an answer to any of these questions so he just smiles and says, "No, I'm not. The word competition implies that Superman has a chance, which he does not."

why did he say that? Bruce doesn't know, it just felt like that's how Bruce Wayne would've responded bc what's more Brucie than fighting with Superman for Batman's heart? anyway, upon reflection, this was maybe not the best response in terms of long term consequences, but he's committed to the bit now.

a week after all this goes down, news reporter Clark Kent is caught saying that Batman deserves better than Bruce Wayne, so is a third suitor putting his hat in the ring to win over batman?
