Recently I have been reading into Biopower and Biopolitics which finds its origins in Foucault. Agamben's "Homo Sacer" has been extremely interesting, especially because I wish to do some more research in Disability Studies. I am looking forward to reading Lennard J Davis.

…perceptive enough to see the situation for what it was…

…smart enough to know what you needed to do…

…strong enough to defy expectations…

…brave enough to forage your own path…

…and don’t let anyone convince you that their degree makes them smarter than you. or better than you. or more successful than you. or harder working than you. or more deserving than you. All it means is that they had better support systems. better resources. adequate accommodations. All it means is that you both had goals and plans and dreams, but the world let you down while it was seeing them though. All it means is that our society is deeply lacking both systemic and systematic equitability. And that is something to be angry or upset about, absolutely, but not ashamed of.

professor requested an incomplete for me. grateful, so fucking grateful. i want to be a better student than this, but that is a neurotypical framework.

the truth is, i am learning to be much more than a good student. i am learning to be myself again. i am learning how to live in this society. i am learning how to be a good friend and family member. i am learning how to walk a life of love. i am learning how to navigate and accept the parts of me once deemed bad as the things that make me special.

i switch back and forth on how bad or indifferent i feel about myself as a student. tonight, i feel like i should be better. lately, though, i have been feeling that it's okay to keep my own pace rather than to race with everyone else.

hi i'm having more autagorn (autistic aragorn) thoughts. i think that because elves are elves i think he grows up like. not really standing out as Weird because elves are Weird. and then when he goes on his big adventure to rohan and gondor all these people are like wow this guy has to be a ranger he's so strange and he Stares at us and he knows so many things about old epic poetry. so he kind of flies under the radar because he has that Eccentric Swag. but then decades later when the rangers come for the final battle everyone who interacted with aragorn in the thorongil days is like wait our king is just Weird these other guys are just like us. idk i just like the idea of all the other rangers of the north being like the gondor guys in that they're battle harded and good at their jobs but not super eccentric. and then aragorn is just there autisming away

8/20/23

Finished all of the work I can currently complete for my classes! I had a productive first week of class and I’m already having a much better year than I did last year. Also met with the rest of the Improv team board (i am the secretary) to discuss our upcoming events.

I’ve also found that doodling in my notes helps me focus and feel engaged with the content. It’s not necessarily the most aesthetically pleasing, but it helps me think a lot and I’ll do whatever I can to make studying and note taking easier for myself. Below is a doodle from my Intro to Visual Arts notes.
