Whumpcember 2022 Day. 12 BROKEN BONES
Featuring: The end of my lil three-shot - but I have more waiting in the wings! We have Luke POV and then Rey’s!

Enjoy!

Luke rummaged through his bag, pulling out a roll of medical bandages before letting out a hiss of pain.
His left arm was wracked with pain, thanks to the broken bone in it.
Luke grasped the medical tape with his right hand, lifting the roll up to his mouth, before using his teeth to unroll the bandages.
How ironic was it that his only useful hand was the prosthetic one?
Using his teeth once again, he ripped a long strand of bandage off, set the roll down on the rock he was perched on, and began to carefully wrap his broken arm.
Wincing a bit as he tightened the bandage a bit, he reached around once more in his bag and tugged a small blanket out - he and Rey had used it to sit on during their snack break, but it’ll do as a make-shift sling.
Hissing as he moved his arm into the proper position, Luke held one end of the blanket in his teeth while he used his free hand to guide the fabric under and over his broken arm.
Luke closed his eyes, steadying his breathing, before dipping into the Force. He gently guided the end of the blanket in his teeth under his shoulder, and opened his eyes before grasping both ends together.
Eying the two ends, he used a mix of his hand and the Force to tie them into a shaky knot.
It’ll do until he finds Rey.
Getting to his feet, Luke stretched his senses out, searching for his padawan’s Force signature. He could feel her through their bond, and he was relieved to sense that she was okay - a little shaken, and a little afraid, but he could tell she had no major injuries.
He grimaced.
She was apparently much luckier than him.
Her bright, reserved presence called to him, and he unfurled his own to alert her to his own predicament. He felt her flare of worry, but he gently helped her tone it down.
He inquired on where she was, stretching out a little farther, and found she was at their snack site.
Good, she had remembered the brief survival training he had Han teach her on.
Stay there, he instructed. I’ll find you.
She sent a ping of acknowledgement, but Luke could still feel an undercurrent of concern.
Careful not to jostle his arm, Luke began his trek to reunite with his daughter.
LINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAKLINE BREAK
Rey drummed her gloved hands on her lap as she stared around the mountain side. The sun was setting now, casting the white snow into an amber hue.
She would find it extremely pretty if she wasn’t so worried.
Luke was alive (and oh how relieved she had felt to feel his warm, supernova of a presence!) - but he was also injured. She could gather as much from their brief mental contact. He could try to cover it up, but she knew it wasn’t good.
Rubbing her legs, Rey stood up, and began pacing.
If he hasn’t come by the time nightfalls, she decided determinedly. I’m looking for him myself!
She hadn’t had much practice tracking others through the Force, but she had a rough outline on what to do.
Sinking her presence into the Force, she groped around for Luke’s signature.
He wasn’t far.
Glancing at the sunset, she decided that moving down from the snack site wouldn’t be a big deal - besides, the closer she was to Luke, the quicker he would find her and she could help treat his injury.
She carefully slid down the slope, smiling a bit at the rush it gave her, and reached out for Luke once more.
Nearly there.
“Luke!” she shouted, waving an arm around, hoping he would see her. “I’m over here!”
Straining her eyes as darkness fell, she spotted a figure appear over the crest of a mound of snow, and a quick check in the Force confirmed it.
It was Luke!
Grinning, Rey ran forward, slipping a bit on the snow, but when they reached each other, Rey threw her arms around him. His right arm hugged her back, and a quick look down told her why it was the only arm to do so.
His left arm was in a sling, and when she ran her presence over it, she detected a broken bone.
“Are you okay?” she anxiously asked. Luke ruffled her hair.
“As well as I can be,” he breezily answered. He gazed at her. “What about you? You seemed distressed.”
Rey lowered her eyes, a spark of shame rising in her at her break down.
“When…when I saw that we had been separated,” she uneasily began, ringing her hands together. “I kinda…panicked.”
Luke sat back on a rocky ledge, intently staring at her. “A panic attack?” he asked.
Rey nodded, still staring at her hands.
Luke reached his prosthetic hand out and rested it on her shoulder, rubbing it a bit. “It’s alright if you have an attack,” he assured her. “We both just experienced quite the frightening event - not everyone can come out of an avalanche with only a broken arm and an anxiety attack between them. Believe me,” the corner of Luke’s mouth curled up. “People have broken down over much lesser things.”
Rey glanced back up at Luke, and matched his slight smile.
Now, they should really get Luke’s arm looked at.
That sling looked atrocious.

Title: But first they must Catch you - First Chapter | Prologue
Concept: Can Izuku Midoriya become a hero even though he’s seen as just a fragile rabbit. Bunny!Izuku verse but taken seriously as if in the MHA canon. While also sprinkling dfo. This chapter a set up.
Warnings: Bullying, Prejudice against Heteromorph, Children are mean to those different especially in Aldera. Mild but not severe Injuries.
————————
Not all Men are created equal.
Come can move mountains. Some can become mountains, they can breath under water, or do multiple things.
But if you look different it doesn’t matter what you do. You will never be a part of the masses.
“You can’t run forever Deku!” A familiar voice rang behind him as Izuku regretted his life choices.
His shoes have since been thrown off they only hindered him. His rabbit feet hitting the concrete as he jumps up as high as he could onto the fence.
Climb- Climb-!
His hands reach up but his arms were so much weaker then his legs as tries to pull himself over. Only to feel something grab his tail after hearing a blast.
“EEEEEeeee-!” A loud rabbit like screech escaped before he was yanked down right onto the floor. Obviously they didn’t catch him as he fell onto his back the pain just from his tail being yanked made him freeze up.
“First you try to show off during gym then you run off like a coward. You got a LOT of nerve,” Bakugou sneered, referring to how in gym he used his quirk to jump even farther Normal then Bakugou.
Apparently many considered his natural leg strength using his quirk thus ‘cheating’ as no one is allowed to use their quirk. The very idea that Kacchan lost to a cheater seemed to send him in a rage and now was out for blood. All because Izuku tried to be brave enough to TRY in one thing he might be good at.
“Have you been holding out? Did it make you feel good to make me look like an idiot you flea brained rabbit!” He sneers if he has been younger then Izuku is sure would have blasted him. But after realized fur burns marks can’t be hidden he improvises.
“I-I wasn’t trying to make you look like an idiot,” he squeaks only to feel him step on his ear earning a strangled cry. Clearly that was the wrong answer and he shut right up.
“It doesn’t mean shit. You are nothing more then a weak ass Deku. So don’t you dare fucking think you won it was a damn fluke. As I caught you easily,” he growls as sparks showed in his hands making the threat clear.
Stay out of his way or else.
Stepping off his ear it seemed Bakugou was satisfied at his trembling state. He wasn’t going to argue with him on it just shaking a bit as waited for the male to leave.
My name is Izuku Midoriya, I’m 14 years old and I’m the only heteromorph in my school. In a world full of super powers.
And what did I get? It’s literally a weak Rabbit.
“Ugggh, why couldn’t I have been something like a tiger or something not small prey animal related,” he covers his face as whines once the teen was gone. His leg twitches from agitation before he sits up and moves a hand to his injured ear.
There was blood.
“For someone trying to be a hero he toes the line a lot. He should know rabbit ears are fragile…..” he speaks but in a sense he was used to pain. Though he deflated looking at the space between his furry legs.
It wasn’t like he was naked. He was forced into a uniform, forced to even wear shoes as it wouldn’t be fair. It hurt.
While If he was pant-less it wasn’t like anyone would see anything really his fur was thick. But he isn’t about to find out if he won’t get in jail for public indecency even if the heat kills him.
His tail at least was free courtesy of his mom and dad taking him to a tailor. Downside there have been people who tried to touch without permission.
“I hate this uniform I could have outrun them…” he mutters as he picks up the stuff that fell out of his backpack. He hears the sound of something like a sonic boom and looks up.
Hoping he can see if it was All Might. All he got was trickle of rain….
Hhe should hurry home even if wanted to go back for his shoes it was too late.
The school is likely closed by now so will just have a to get home without them. The concrete was weird on his feet but he didn’t have paw pads despite popular belief. Just fur so it didn’t bother him too much as it allowed him to run on hot or cold without a sound.
Lot of good that does me when most clothing aren’t made with a rabbit bottom in mind.
To know your own quirk and yet can’t use it to its full potential. Being a Hero was both a dream and a goal to escape the confines of these restrictions. He could be like All Might or the new up and coming hero Mirko!
She was a rabbit based quirk too though hers are less Physical like his it was still the same.
It’s what gave him hope for the future. Despite the bleeding ear he is having right now.
Aw crap he can’t go home like this.
Mom will flip and ask who did it and if lies she would figure it out. Iif tells the truth Bakugou might get in serious trouble and life ruined this time. That damn idiot-!
“Uggghhh what am I supposed to do,” he groans and looks around before going into a public bathroom. Sure it cost a bit to get access but he can’t go home like this. Even if Bakugou deserves it he doesn’t want him to lose his chance for real.
It would feel like cheating if can’t even compete.
“Ok water, soap, bandages and napkins,” he whispers to himself as goes to clean his ear. Feeling the way it stings making him flinch as tries to make sure it looks presentable.
At least if covered can lie and say accidentally got caught in something. That was believable right?
His tail twitches just a hint before he stomps his foot feeling frustrated. Wondering why Kacchan can be such an idiot sometimes and if wanted to lose his chance of being a hero.
“Ok it’s fine. I’ll just…. Sneak into my room. Yeah that works fine,” Izuku sighs as goes to leave the room feeling pretty good. Holding his head up as tries to ignore the have the bandage made his ear droop from the added weight.
He wasn’t the best at first aid but he is still figuring it out. But it was passable and the rain seemed to have pass by.
“Mom I’m home-!” He calls out as entered his home out of habit. Which he instantly regretted as his mom pokes her head out of the kitchen.
“Izuku there you are! You’ve been worrying me half to death!”
His mom looked at him angry almost flabbergasted that he was so late. Only for her eyes to widen when sees his bandages ear.
“Oh no- Izuku what happened to your ear?” There was a sense of dread in her voice as the if realizing what has happened. He gives a sheepish smile as tries to not seem bothered even if the pain lingered along with the threat.
“It’s nothing I just got it slammed in something and had to have the nurse take care of it,” that was a believable lie right?
Inko did not look convinced if anything she looked more worried. The silence grew as she processed his words then slowly began to speak, “Izuku-“
He isn’t ready to see her pity him again.
“I’m fine! Don’t worry I got home work to do just make me a plate and leave at the door,” he speaks firmly as goes to walk pass his home red from embarrassment.
“Wait Izuku-!” she called out but he was already in his room throwing himself onto the bed. The sound of his mother grew quiet. Likely she understood at the moment he wasn’t feeling like talking.
Already he was stripping out of his uniform to go into the shower. Needing a deep clean after being grabbed and stomped in. Though he pauses as he looks at himself in the mirror.
The hero in his head never did match the hero he sees in his reflection. Dark green fur covered his legs that bend in the way rabbits do. His feet covered in fur with claws, and down his spine to where meets the fur was a cottontail. Green on top and white on the bottom.
His hands move up the side of his head through his hair before settling to the top. Where two rabbit ears laid one damaged by the assault a hint crooked but easy to fix. His hand instinctively flattens them against his head before sights.
“You got this. You can still be a cool hero,” he whispers to himself as clenches his fist. His words felt hollow but he says them.
Because this was his story and even if no one believed in him as long as he keeps trying then he can become a hero.
———————
{ Authors Note; Everyone has their Izuku has a quirk or villain or whatever but no one ever tries to take a serious Izuku has a heteromorph/animal quirk. Mostly the bunny quirk it used for fun or less savory things. Which has it own struggles and prejudice as implied in the canon series. With Spinner and other heteromorph that aren’t heroes.
So I decided to take it into my own hands though this is more of a prologue since no hero or anything happens. I thought it be good to show Izuku backstory just a hint rather then implying it by going right to the good parts.
So hope you like it! I’ll likely post a more polished one on Archive if Our Own, but this is definitely something I been wanting to write for a while~

A Favor: Part Twenty-Two
Nessian Modern AU
Masterlist
content warnings: secondhand embarrassment, i dont know how skiing works, poor editing, NSFW 🔥
***
To Nesta’s horror, Cassian was serious when he said he’d teach her how to ski. Nevermind the fact that it’s his birthday, and they should be having a lazy morning together filled with cuddles and breakfast in bed. Instead, they’ve been up since six in the morning without food or drink, just to shuffle around in the snow while Cassian repeats the same instructions over and over. By late morning, the rest of their group has gotten up and joined them at the beginner’s trail to be firsthand witnesses to Nesta’s humiliation.
She stares down at the blinding white slope before her and inhales a breath of frigid mountain air, trying to steel her nerves before she has to push off the ground and take flight.
Cassian sees her hesitation and sighs. “Come on, Nesta,” he urges. “It’s thirty feet to the bottom of the hill.”
“Why is it so steep?” she demands, even though she knows this is a practice hill. Toddlers in skis are shuffling around them, hand in hand with their parents.
“You’re not falling to the bottom,” Cassian says, growing impatient. “You’re gliding.”
He’s already shown her how to maneuver with skis a dozen times already, and Nesta can see that he doesn’t have another dozen times left in him. Unfortunately for him, Nesta’s own patience was used up hours ago. Her stomach pangs with hunger, and she has a pounding headache from the cold and lack of sleep.
“Oh, come on, Nesta,” Gwyn calls from behind her. She hops up and down in her snow boots like a cheerleader. “You can do it!”
Nesta does not want to do it. She looks down at the hill, then back at Cassian with pleading eyes—eyes that he can’t see under her ski goggles anyway.
“I can’t take this anymore,” Azriel mutters from somewhere. He picks up his ski poles and points to Emerie. “Ski lift?”
“Sure—” she starts to say, and then remembers that she’s here to support Nesta. “Not now,” she amends.
“Just go,” Cassian turns to tell them. “At least some of us will be having fun.” Nesta watches as he goes over to Emerie and Az to give advice on the trails, the same frustration from last night building in her chest.
Stupid ski trip. Stupid uninvited guests. Stupid birthday that Cassian isn’t even treating like a birthday.
Gritting her teeth, Nesta jabs her ski poles into the ground. She’ll conquer this hill, and then she’ll conquer the rest of the trail, and then she’ll take her skis and set them on fire.
With everyone briefly preoccupied and no eyes on her, Nesta pushes herself downhill. Her skis slip a little as she takes off but she readjusts her feet the way Cassian showed her, regaining control. She takes a deep breath, realizing the height isn’t as scary as she thought it would be. Testingly, she bends her knees and pushes herself farther, gaining speed.
“Oh, oh, look!” she hears Gwyn say from behind her. “She’s doing it!”
The voice breaks Nesta out of her precarious concentration, and she almost misses the kid right in front of her skiing at the pace of a turtle. Gasping, Nesta swerves at the last second to avoid running him over.
Her skis clack into each other and she feels her ankle twist, and then she’s down. Hard. Her face meets snow and her ski gear jabs into her body as she tumbles down the rest of the hill, until she finally meets flat ground and rolls to a painful stop.
Nesta only hears a dull roar in her ears as she slowly pushes herself upright. Ignoring alarmed looks from stray skiers around her, she reaches forward and unstraps one ski from her foot, then the other. Her goggles fall to the ground next. Once free, she stands up and walks away, ignoring the calls of her friends from the hilltop.
She walks until she loses sight of the trail and then the resort, until the flattened and trampled snow piles up into powdery mounds untouched by human presence. A cropping of towering evergreens appears before her, and she heads straight for the thicket without pausing.
Once safely entombed by the dark tree trunks and frosted branches, Nesta releases a breath and screams. Screams until the frustration and anger within her bluntens just a little.
The forest absorbs her fire and answers with silence.
“Better now?” Cassian’s voice comes from behind her.
Nesta whirls, ready to fling her next scream at him for having the nerve to follow her, but she only restrains herself because it’s his birthday. Guilt and humiliation nips at her; she shouldn’t be doing this on his birthday. “Leave me alone.” Her voice is raw from shrieking.
Cassian only takes a step closer to Nesta, eyeing her up and down. “You’re not hurt, right? ’Cause that would be embarrassing for you.”
Any edge that was taken off starts to build up again, and Nesta really doesn’t want to look at him right now. “Cassian—”
“Your face is turning red,” he suddenly gasps, pointing. “You should try yelling again, babe. I don’t think the entire resort heard you last time.”
Done with her boyfriend’s shit, Nesta releases a growl and rushes at him. He’s a lot closer than she realized, and in a blink she slams right into his broad chest and shoves him with all her might.
Cassian laughs, short and blunt, and pushes her right back. Her back hits hard-packed snow and then he’s on top of her, pinning her wrists loosely beside her head. Icy wetness seeps past the neck of her jacket.
“Do you want me to fucking bite you?” Nesta snarls, getting in Cassian’s face.
“Always,” he says without hesitation, pressing closer to her. “But first you gotta take a breather.”
“Don’t tell me what to do,” she seethes back. At this rate, she really might bite him. She wants to see his smug face drop when he realizes he pushed her too far.
“You might have an aneurysm at this rate with your anger issues.” He pouts prettily. “Imagine how sad that would make me.”
“I DON’T HAVE ANGER ISSUES!” she shrieks.
Cassian barely blinks. Nesta breathes heavily in the ensuing silence, realizing how embarrassing this is for her. Yet she doesn’t know how to stop.
Closing her eyes, she drops her head to the ground and turns away. Wishing she could sink into the ground and vanish for a few minutes, at least until she gets herself under control again.
After a moment of quiet, she feels the back of Cassian’s fingers brush her neck. “I wondered where that spitfire girl went,” he says lowly. “She didn’t die. You just hid her very well.”
Nesta’s body doesn’t know whether to feel soothed or incited by the touch, the words. “Does it make you happy?” she breathes, her eyes still closed. “That she’s still there?”
“It would be murder if you ever got rid of her. Don’t you dare,” he threatens.
Nesta huffs a derisive laugh. It’s easy for him to say, when he isn’t the one that has to live with it. “I bet you’re enjoying this.”
“Only if you are.” He sounds completely genuine, and Nesta feels him pluck something out of her hair—likely a snowflake.
Realizing Cassian has long since released her wrists, she opens her eyes and stares at the column of his neck. She doesn’t see the regret and concern on his face when he says, “I ruined today, didn’t I?” She watches him swallow before he adds, “I’m sorry, Nes.”
“It’s your birthday,” she mutters, looking away. “You can do whatever you want.” Even if it’s spending the whole day skiing.
“You’re right about that.” His warm breath hits her nose, and now that Nesta’s head is somewhat clear, she can feel every place where his body settles into hers.
Before she can betray herself and forget how upset she was at him only a few minutes ago, Cassian pushes up and off of her. Frigid air replaces where he was just sprawled, and then he’s holding out a hand to Nesta. “We’re going back to our room,” he says, watching Nesta’s feet closely as he helps her stand. “You can ride on my back.”
“Why?” Nesta grumbles, brushing herself off. “I can walk fine.”
“You twisted your right ankle on the way down that hill, and you started limping as soon as you thought you were out of sight.” Cassian turns around and points at his back. “Get on while I’m being nice.”
That makes Nesta scoff, because he’s always nice, but she has little fight left today. She tries to reach up to wrap her arms around his neck, but Cassian grabs her legs and hitches her up onto his back before she can struggle.
She responds with a scowl, clasping her hands across his chest and getting comfortable. “You noticed I was hurt but didn’t have a problem with tackling me to the ground?”
Cassian squeezes her thighs and holds her closer, tossing a blinding smile over his shoulder. “Sorry if I wasn’t expecting you to try to jump me with an injured foot. You took me by surprise.”
“Bullshit,” Nesta says as they start walking out of the trees. “You did it on purpose.”
“Do you like starting fights, Archeron?”
“Do you?” she retorts.
They bicker back and forth like that until they reach the resort, and even once they’re inside the lobby, Cassian doesn’t put Nesta down. The exhaustion of the day has settled over the both of them by then, and the elevator ride up to the penthouse is peacefully quiet.
Back at the empty suite, Cassian carefully lowers Nesta to her feet. “Take your clothes off,” is all he says before heading for the bathroom, shedding his heavy outer jacket as he goes. Nesta has no problem listening; she’s all too happy to take her snow-drenched gear off and breathe air-conditioned air again.
She only realizes as she’s removing her boots that her overwrought emotions must have dulled the real pain of her fall. Her entire body aches down to the bone, and her twisted ankle has it the worst. Inspecting the swollen skin around her foot, she wonders if Cassian will make her see a doctor when the sound of a running faucet pulls her attention. Still dressed in her thermal underwear, Nesta pads over to the bathroom.
Inside, the room is dim, and the only light comes in from the single window panel at the far end of the room. Cassian sits on the rim of the clawfoot tub as it fills with heated water, already naked.
Nesta coughs, caught off guard. The sight is far from unfamiliar to her, and yet she hates to admit that she’ll never not react to it.
Cassian looks up at her, meeting her eyes head on, and a giggle almost escapes her.
“What’s that dumb look on your face?” he says with high brows. “Take your clothes off and get in.”
Nesta firmly schools her face into obedience. Is she a grown woman or a schoolgirl? she chides herself as she strips naked. But as soon as she’s free of her top and leggings, Cassian stops her. “Turn around,” he says.
Is this a sex thing? She hopes it’s a sex thing. She does as she’s told, and hears Cassian hiss in a breath. Glancing at the mirror over the sink, Nesta winces when she realizes what he sees. “Damn.” Her back is peppered with still-forming bruises from her fall, along with her legs and ribs.
Getting up, Cassian approaches her and cautiously runs his fingers over a reddened spot on her ribs. “I think a ski pole stabbed me there,” Nesta says, frowning down at the bruise. She looks like shit, and not at all in a desirable way.
“How’s your ankle?” Cassian kneels to check for himself, handling her like a porcelain doll. He presses gently above the bone where she twisted it. “Does that hurt?”
Nesta considers saying yes, just so he can keep fussing over her like this, but she shakes her head. “I’m fine. Just a little achy.”
A sudden chaste kiss between her legs makes her yelp, and she twists to find Cassian still on his knees, grinning sheepishly up at her. “You know what can help with those aches?”
Nesta blanks as Cassian runs a calloused hand up her inner leg. “Uh…really good dick?”
Cassian is visibly trying not to smile when he says, “A bath.” He stands and turns the faucet off, before going to help Nesta into the tub.
Steaming hot water just beneath the point of being uncomfortable hits Nesta’s calves, then her hips and chest. She might moan in relief as she sinks into the bath.
Cassian settles in across from her, taking up most of the tub space as Nesta twists her ponytail into a bun. He takes her ankle onto his lap and starts massaging above the injury. He notes, “We haven’t been alone like this in ages.”
“I remember when it was my job to be the chill guy,” he continues, rubbing circles into her leg. “I was the one doing stupid shit, and now I have to tell other people to knock it off when they do stupid shit. Since when did Azriel take my role?” he mutters to himself.
Nesta tilts her head against the lip of the tub and watches Cassian, taking in the barely visible lines of weariness on his face. She was once in a similar boat, too, where she had no one to answer to but herself. “Do you miss it?” she asks hesitantly. “Life before we got to know each other?” A life spent in the company of his friends, meeting different women every other week and being as free as possible.
“No,” he says easily. “I miss life before we had to share each other with other people.” He meets her eyes and smirks. “Who knew monogamy could be so exciting?”
Nesta’s stomach curls at his honesty, and she doesn’t know what to say. In the silence, Cassian reaches for a washcloth and lathers it with a bar of pine scented soap. But before he can reach for Nesta, she snatches the washcloth from him and pulls herself forward into the cradle of his limbs. What she can’t say, she’ll just have to show.
She starts soaping up his arms, granting extra attention to his tattooed biceps.
“You’re hurt—” he tries to protest.
“Shut up.” She runs the washcloth over his shoulders, across his collarbones.
When Nesta reaches his chest, she starts, “Earlier in the woods...I lost control.”
Cassian looks wary, but she goes on, “I don’t know why I did that. I thought I didn’t do that anymore.”
“I know why,” he says simply. “You were having a bad day. It was overwhelming.” He shrugs.
“But I’m better than that,” she insists. “You might think it's cute or funny when I—lose it, but I spent years training myself not to fall apart at the slightest inconvenience.” She takes in a breath, her movements slowing. “I learned how to escape reality, remember? I climbed into books and TV and songs, and at one point my entire life passed me by because I refused to participate in it. If I didn't participate, I couldn't be hurt.” She wrings out the washcloth, and Cassian carefully pries it out of her grip.
Nesta places her empty hands on her thighs, avoiding his touch, his eyes. “I think you were one of the only people who ever made me want to come back to real life,” she offers awkwardly. “That's why you made me uncomfortable at first. There were times I would look at you and think, He's better than anyone from the books. If I start living on the same plane as him, I can have him. Does that make sense?”
Cassian swallows visibly, but nods.
“It seemed like an impossible thing to do at the time—participate in the real world, make real friends. But have you noticed? I don’t read as many romance novels anymore.” Not because she doesn’t love them, but because she no longer needs them to remind herself she's alive.
She looks up at him, searching for his thoughts and opinions. Cassian looks like he's doing the same with her face, but then he says, “If you need to scream, even if it’s at me, tell me. I’ll take you somewhere far away, or I’ll let you have it out right in front of everyone. Whatever the hell you want, as long as you tell me. Please.”
Nesta starts to shake her head, adamant, but he stops her with the most pitiful look he's ever given her. “There’s nothing I hate seeing more than you trying to swallow down your rough edges. Even in the woods, you were about to tame yourself before I provoked you.” Cassian holds out a pinky, completely serious. “Consider it my birthday gift. Don’t do that shit anymore.”
Nesta stares at him, his plea warring with years of conditioned self-restraint. “I already got you a birthday gift,” she finally grumbles, but hooks his pinky with hers.
He seems satisfied, but doesn't let go of her pinky. With surprising strength, he uses their hooked fingers to pull Nesta into him, and she just barely catches herself on his chest before he brings her head down and kisses her deep.
Nesta already has her legs adjusted around his waist and his cock pressed against her stomach before she can pull away far enough to choke, “What’s this for?”
He leans up and catches her lips with his again, dipping his tongue just far enough inside to flick the roof of her mouth before retreating. “For existing. And for those aches.” He presses down lightly on a bruise at her back and runs a soothing thumb over it right after. Between her thighs, she feels him growing hard.
Nesta huffs a distracted laugh, the steam from the water sending a red flush up her chest and neck. It's suddenly very hot, and she unconsciously squirms in his lap. “I just realized I’ve never had sex in the bath before,” she says out of nowhere, rubbing her chest and quickly dropping her arms. She’s babbling, she knows. Contrary to popular media, being a seductress is harder than it looks. Half the time she has no idea what to say, and she considers herself lucky that Cassian is driven wild by it anyway.
Cassian entertains her, nodding along while his fingers slip past her ass, brushing her folds. “That sounds like something that should be amended, don’t you think?”
“Well, in terms of comfort I’m not sure if it’ll be better than the shower—” She’s cut off by a finger teasing at her entrance, making her jerk. “Yes,” she says quickly. “Yes, it should be amended.”
He hums thoughtfully, leaning in to nibble and suck at her neck. Her hardened nipples brush against his chest, and Nesta pushes closer into Cassian’s embrace. She’s half-rocking against him when she rasps, “How do you give head in the bath? Do I, like, have to hold my breath underwater?”
“You don’t need to know how,” he mutters, grasping her by the hips and tugging her up so that he’s eye level with her chest. He starts leaving a trail of openmouthed kisses across her breasts. “You’re not doing anything I don’t tell you to do today.”
“What do you mean?” Nesta’s grip on Cassian’s shoulders tightens when he brings a pink nipple into his mouth, sucking hard and pulling off with a flick of his tongue. She can’t move her hips for fear of climaxing at the slightest touch. “It’s your birthday,” she manages to get out. “And I like seeing what I can do to you.”
“Then save it for your birthday.” He pulls her back down firmly into his lap, making her thighs clench with restraint. “Because I like seeing what I do to you more.”
To prove his point, he parts her legs and slips one finger inside her. The smug pride on his face at what he finds makes Nesta move to grip the rim of the tub. Having a pretty boyfriend might have been a mistake, she thinks. That kind of face will get away with anything. Right now, for example.
“Tell me what you want, then,” she pleads.
Cassian leans back, pretending to think. “Sit on my cock,” he finally says.
An easy enough order, one Nesta is all too excited to carry out in only a few movements. It takes a minute to adjust to the fullness and the stretch, and the water doesn’t help in dousing the fire in her veins at all. With heat pounding deep in her core, Nesta releases a terse breath. Her tongue darts out to wet her lower lip, and Cassian watches.
“Now don’t move,” he orders.
“What?” Nesta’s knees involuntarily clench around his hips, her body already craving the feel of moving against him, on top of him.
He levels her with a look. “No clenching, no rocking, no touching.” He hisses in a thoughtful breath, combing a wet hand through his hair. “Actually, that isn’t very fair, is it?”
Nesta is about to nod furiously when he says, “You still need to wash yourself.” He hands her the washcloth she used on him earlier and leans his elbow on the rim of the tub. “Be quick about it. No games.”
Nesta’s eyes widen, looking at the washcloth, then back up at Cassian. Excitement tingles in her fingers and toes, and she doesn’t want to argue with him.
Gulping tightly, she soaps up the washcloth, then smooths the lather over her arms. It’s hard to focus on what she’s doing when there’s a pounding pressure between her legs, and the only thing that keeps her going is that she’ll be rewarded when she’s done. Cassian doesn’t bother watching her, instead tipping his head back against the tub and closing his eyes. From this angle, the tendons in his neck stand out clearly, and the hard line of his jaw looks tense. Nothing on his calm face reveals that Nesta is the reason for his tension, though.
Bringing the soapy cloth over her breasts, Nesta looks up to see if Cassian is secretly peeking at her through his lashes. His eyes remain shut, the perfect portrait of a man at rest.
Suddenly, his hips shift beneath hers, and Nesta nearly drops the washcloth. Straightening up, she has to use herculean strength to force her inner walls to relax around him. “You moved,” she accuses him.
“I was getting comfortable,” he says, still not opening his eyes.
“Why can you move but I can’t?”
That gets him to look at her. His eyes are hooded and lazy when he says, “You’re still talking?”
“Maybe if you had clearly explained the rules—” Nesta starts to grumble, but shuts up when he quirks a brow at her. She won’t lose this game, not for anything—even if she’s split at the seams with Cassian inside her and is one thread away from completely snapping.
Now fully alert, Cassian watches Nesta finish washing up. He hasn’t touched her once since he pulled her onto his cock, and now Nesta tries to make up for the aching lack by pretending her roaming hands are his.
It’s not until the washcloth reaches her tummy that Nesta pauses, her hand frozen over her lower abdomen. Because there, even past the cloth, she can feel him. The skin just slightly bulges, and she looks down at herself with her lips slightly fallen apart. She didn’t realize he was nestled so deep in her, but now she swallows past a lump in her throat. “Cassian…” she starts weakly. Every last muscle is trembling with the effort to stay still. Can he really be unaffected by all of this? Is she really the only one dying right now?
Without intending to, her hand drops the cloth, slipping toward her clit. She can only brush the sensitive nub before Cassian says quietly, “Don’t.”
So this is against the rules, too. She can’t even bring herself to look at him, she’s strung so tight. Taking a shallow breath, she grabs the pitcher from the shelf by the tub and fills it with water, using it to rinse off the suds. When she’s done, with water droplets running down every inch of her, she dares to look at Cassian again. Her anxiousness to get this over with must be written all over her face, and yet.
“Good,” Cassian says, voice just a little grated.
Nesta’s heart rate picks up a beat. She’s finally getting her reward.
“Now sit still and pretty while I rest,” he says, sinking even lower into the tub—and causing his cock to dig even deeper into Nesta. “This is a bath, not a splash pad.”
Nesta chokes. “What—I thought—”
“Hm?”
She presses her lips together tightly, refusing to protest. He can’t make her warm his cock like this forever, can he? Soon enough he’ll crack.
Four minutes in, and he doesn’t crack. While Nesta gets closer to crying by the second, she has yet to find evidence that he’s even aware of her presence. Her only proof is the fact that he’s still rock hard, occasionally twitching against the depths of her walls.
At five minutes in, Nesta can’t help it. She breaks, and her inner muscles clamp around Cassian with a viselike grip. She half-sobs in pain and relief, and her hips jerk of their own accord.
Cassian’s eyes fly open at that, the pupils blown wide, and Nesta has to catch herself on his chest to keep from crumbling. If she had half a working brain left, she would have noticed the trembling restraint that lines Cassian’s limbs, or the way his eyes burn with welling desire and even sympathy. Instead, she turns her face into his chest and begs weakly, “Pleasepleaseplease.” Her thighs keep shifting, rubbing back and forth to create friction, but she can’t give herself permission to move the way she truly needs until Cassian gives her permission.
Nesta feels Cassian’s broad hand come up to carefully brush her back. She nearly weeps with relief at the touch, but he doesn’t go any further. “What do you want, baby?” he says roughly.
“You,” she forces out. She doesn’t care if this is losing.
“Me, what?” He sounds like he’s about to lose, too.
“I want you to fuck me.” She’s nearly whimpering, trying not to squirm on his lap.
Cassian, the horrible bastard, has the nerve to snicker in her ear, though he sounds more than a little wrecked when he says, “Well, why didn’t you just say so?”
In a flash, he has Nesta pinned against the porcelain tub. And before she can decide whether to laugh or moan or cry at the turn of events, Cassian covers her mouth with his and thrusts into her, giving her everything she wants.

Hours later, after they’ve sated themselves on sex and food and Cassian is napping sprawled out across Nesta’s back, she receives a text from Azriel telling her he won’t be there to celebrate the rest of Cassian’s birthday.
Az: You two deserve the alone time. Also I didn’t get him a present.
Another text pops up before Nesta can reply.
Az: I did order a cake to be sent up to your room, though. Don’t worry, there’s not a picture of your boobs on it.
Nesta’s eyes widen at that, not knowing why—or how—that would be an option. But she completely forgot about getting cake in all the unexpected hassle of their vacation, and not for the first time is she grateful that Azriel came along with them on their trip.
Typing back a quick thank you, Nesta clicks her phone off and curls further into Cassian’s warmth. He shifts on top of her, hugging her closer, and a moment later she feels his nose poking at the crook of her neck. “Good morning,” he murmurs thickly, sleep coating his voice.
“It’s six p.m,” she snickers. The sun slipped behind the mountains just a few minutes ago, leaving the room a blue dark.
Cassian responds by slipping his hands under her oversized tee, rubbing the muscles along her back. “Where’s everyone else?” They haven’t seen Gwyn, Emerie, or Az in hours.
Nesta turns around in Cassian’s arms to face him. “Consider them gone. We’re by ourselves for the rest of the night.”
He perks up at that. “Really?”
A knock sounds from the penthouse door, and Nesta remembers Azriel’s text. She squirms out from under Cassian’s weight with some difficulty and stands off the bed. She points a stern finger at him. “Don’t move from here,” she orders. “I’ll be back.”
Cassian leans back, looking questioning and amused, but Nesta has already jammed her feet into slippers and left the room by then.
She accepts the covered platter from room service at the door and leaves a tip, before carrying the cake over to the coffee table in the living area and setting it down. Within ten minutes, she has an entire setup arranged: the fireplace is up and roaring, the fur throw she stole from Cassian’s couch to bring on vacation is spread out before it, and the cake candles are lit. The Italian dinner that she ordered earlier also arrives by then, and once everything is laid out, she calls for Cassian to come downstairs.
He’s fully dressed in a sweater and jeans when he appears at the top of the short set of stairs, and he looks so excited to see her that he doesn’t notice the cake or the dinner until he’s only a few steps away from her. Very slowly, his smile freezes. “What’s all this?”
“It’s your birthday,” Nesta says. “Duh.”
“But I thought we already celebrated,” he stumbles, looking around. “With the skiing, and the bathtub—”
Nesta makes a face. “You thought that was celebrating?” She shakes her head and beckons Cassian over to the fur throw, right before the table decked out with food.
He sits down beside Nesta, looking over her in nothing but her thin white shirt. “Are you cold? Do you want my sweater?”
She rolls her eyes as far back as they can go. “No, I want you to focus and make a wish before 6:27.”
“How do you know my birth time?”
“Will you do it or not?” she threatens. The candle wax is melting onto the cake.
Cassian stares at her for a moment longer before finally facing the cake. Closing his eyes, he mouths something unintelligible and blows the candles out.
Nesta claps softly. “Happy two years away from thirty. What did you wish for?” She leans closer.
He leans away. “It doesn’t come true if you go around announcing it.”
Nesta’s shoulders drop. “Wishes aren’t real, Cassian.”
“That’s what you say.” He swipes a dollop of chocolate frosting off the cake with his finger and holds it out to Nesta.
Smiling, she wraps her lips around his finger, scraping the chocolate off with her teeth and licking it clean. He sucks on the same finger when she’s done, chasing after her taste and the lingering frosting. “What do you want first?” he asks. “Dinner or dessert?”
“This.” Nesta pulls out a small box from under the table, placing it in front of Cassian. She didn’t have time to find wrapping paper or a bag, but she’s a bit proud of herself anyway.
Cassian once again looks taken by surprise. “You didn’t have to…” He trails off as he reaches for the box. It’s already obvious what it is, but he still opens it carefully, hesitantly.
He stares at the silver watch for a little while and then looks back up at Nesta. “I…” He clears his throat.
“What do you think?” In all honesty, Nesta already knows. But she needs to hear it from him.
He meets her eyes. “It’s so…normal. Do you know what I mean?”
It’s the type of gift that Nesta’s mother would have given to her father, the type of gift that wives would give to their husbands. Not necessarily original or thoughtful, but domestic.
“Since you like to spend your time thinking about taxes and minivans and stuff,” Nesta says, remembering their last conversation about the future, “I thought you’d like something normal.”
Cassian laughs at that. He takes the watch out of the box and turns it over in the firelight, still a little dumbstruck. “I love it,” he says roughly.
Nesta kicks him in the knee. “It’s a watch, not an engagement ring.”
But he doesn’t hear a word, already clasping it onto his wrist.
***
Their last day at the resort starts early with Gwyn, Emerie, and Az banging on the suite door at five in the morning. Though Cassian is already up by then, Nesta snarls and snaps like a bitch at being dragged out of bed to watch the sunrise.
With everyone’s bags packed and waiting at the door, they all gather on the balcony connected to the suite in content silence. Azriel nurses a thermos of coffee that he refuses to share with Cassian, and Nesta is wrapped up in that fur throw she loves, half-asleep against Emerie.
When the sky starts lightening, Cassian pulls Nesta away from Emerie and into his body. “You’re gonna miss it,” he murmurs onto the top of her head.
She blinks awake, looking out at the sky slowly being streaked with a dozen colors. From here, the view over the mountains and the quiet town some miles beneath the resort is breathtaking. Easily better than any sunrise Cassian could have shared with Nesta back home.
It’s beautiful, and in that moment he decides he wants to see even more beautiful places than this with Nesta. Someday.
“Pretty,” she yawns, tilting her head back against his chest. Cassian feels guilty for keeping her up so late the night before, but he’s not ashamed of how she rests in his arms right now.
After the sun climbs past the lowest peak, the group of them slowly but surely come more alive. Emerie asks Az to go inside with her and do a final check before they leave, and Nesta shakes both the blanket and Cassian’s arms off herself.
“Some coffee will wake you up,” he promises her, leaving her outside in the dewy morning air with a kiss on the temple.
When Cassian returns to the balcony with two freshly brewed cups, he finds Gwyn and Nesta in deep conversation. “I never apologized for crashing your weekend,” Gwyn is saying.
“You don’t need to,” Nesta responds, watching the world wake up below her.
“Still,” Gwyn says, chewing on the inside of her cheek. “I acted out of character, didn’t I?”
Nesta turns to her then, the sun haloing her face, and the look of understanding she wears makes Cassian take a step back inside.
“He does that to me,” Gwyn goes on, looking lost as ever. “I don’t know why he does that to me.”
“First love will do that to anyone,” Nesta says.
This isn’t a conversation Cassian should be overhearing, he realizes. Turning around with his coffees, he goes to find Emerie and Azriel instead.
In the living area, Emerie realizes at the last minute that she’s missing her phone charger. By the time she finds it, Nesta and Gwyn have rejoined the group.
Cassian hands Nesta her still-warm coffee with a warmer smile. “You ready to get out of here?”
“Hell yes, baby.” She slings an arm around his waist.
They barely make it to the resort lobby before Azriel and Gwyn start arguing over which route to take home.
“Why would you add an extra hour to your trip for no reason?” Azriel is saying.
“It’s none of your business!” Gwyn retorts.
“She’s scared of highways,” Emerie inserts.
While they bicker on the way to check out, Cassian finds Nesta’s hand and runs a finger down her palm. “Hey, Nes?”
“Hm?” She looks up at him.
He curls his fingers around hers. “Thank you for doing this.”

Insistence
Summary: Loki is being stubborn even when injured, not wanting help for fear of seeming weak. You ignore his protests and tend to him anyways.
Pairing: Loki x Field/Combat Medic!Reader
Word Count: 2,864
Warnings/Disclaimers: Mild violence. Injuries, burns. I don’t go into gory detail. Minor character death alluded to.
A/N: This one took longer than I anticipated. I wound up rewriting it midway through. The whole combat medic has been on my list of ideas for a while with only the most basic idea in my head. Once I start writing, it veered off in a different direction.

“I do not require your assistance, Mortal,” Loki spat, his voice lacking the venom it was usually laced with especially when you were trying to do your job.
You scoffed, gently dabbing at the tiny lacerations on his cheek. “Well, you’re getting it anyways. What kind of field medic would I be if I didn’t help everyone on the team?”
He scowled as you brushed a rogue ribbon of inky hair behind his ear so you could make sure you didn’t miss anything. In truth, this was the first time he didn’t continuously insist on pushing you away. There was always something about him not needing your treatments or someone else needing to be tended to first - Any excuse he could use to deny help. Then again, there was nowhere for him to run this time.
Either Fury’s intel had been wrong, your team’s plans had been leaked or both. The HYDRA base you all had been sent to had been overstocked in both operatives and ammunition. Even with the legacy team that accepted Loki almost half a year ago, you weren’t prepared.
Nat had been the worst, immediately being taken down when she attempted to infiltrate the base. That was when the HYDRA members started spilling out from within and around the base. With the rest of the team providing backup, Clint was able to help you lug her back to the Quinjet where you cleaned the deep gash in her side and stitched her together again. Of course, Clint wasnt going to stand down. He stayed by the ramp, firing arrow after arrow to keep some of the heat off his companions. You wound up having to patch up his bleeding leg while he continued to fight.
Steve was the next to return. He collapsed in a seat as you reached him. Bruised and battered, he was mostly alright save for the possibility of some broken ribs. Tony crashed-landed onto the ramp, the metal of his suit screeching and scraping as he skidded inside. He was in the same boat as Steve along with his suit quickly losing power. There wasn’t much left he could do. Thor lumbered backwards into the Quinjet, Mjolnir still boomeranging out into the field to take down what enemies he could. With the God of Thunder standing guard, Clint disappeared to the cockpit.
The engines whirred to life. “Okay, guys! Jet’s primed and ready for take off. We got everyone?” Clint called out.
You took a look around, hearing the engines ready themselves. Thor cursed under his breath as he continued throwing his hammer. Where was… Oh… Oh no.
Shoving the cotton ball doused in antiseptic into Tony’s hand, you peeled away from his side and hovered near Thor. Against the bright white snow, a twister of black, green and gold ferociously danced. Loki was still out there.
“Do NOT take off yet!” you hollered back.
With a huff, you opened a hidden compartment and pulled out a sniper rifle along with its tripod. After piecing together the barrels, you attached the small tripod and settled on the floor, taking aim in Loki’s general direction. You popped off a couple rounds onto any of the HYDRA agents who dared try to catch the mischievous god off guard.
Tony shuffled to his feet, cursing when he realized just what was happening. By this time, he had removed himself from the drained Iron Man suit. “Trade places, Legolas! Reindeer Games is still out there!” He dashed to the cockpit.
You fired again, this operative having gotten too close for comfort. Loki had turned just in time to see opponent drop dead at his feet. With a near indiscernible nod that could only be seen through your scope, he carried on, slowly making his way to the Quinjet.
Despite his own injury, Clint was swiftly back at your side. With the extra backup, an exhausted Thor was able to make it off the ramp, farther into the fray and meet his brother halfway. Clint and you kept the path clear enough for them to rush back. It was stunning to see how well they could work together when they needed to.
The moment they were in reach of the ramp, you leapt to your feet and with Clint pulled the exhausted brothers on board. The ramp lifted as you tugged Loki into sitting, and the Quinjet took off. So, here you were, attempting to take care of the trickster’s wounds after having checked on Thor.
“I am a god,” he sneered half heartedly. “I will heal quickly. This is unnecessary.” He winced lightly as the antiseptic stung his cheek.
You sighed, “Any one can heal those cuts, but just because you can do so faster than the rest of us, doesn’t mean you are impervious to infections. Just less likely to get them.”
He went silent at that, either realizing you were right or just not desiring to argue further. Done with one side, you swapped to the seat on the other side of him. With a clean, freshly wetted cotton ball, you gingerly began cleaning his other cheek. All things considered, Loki didn’t look too bad. At least, not as bad as he could have. With your freehand, you coaxed him to lift his chin up so you could tend to the lacerations on his neck.
“Why?” His voice was soft, just loud enough for only you to hear him.
“Why, what?” You copied his volume level.
“Why do you insist on this?”
You stopped your ministrations, raising your gaze to look him in the eye. His face was uncharacteristically soft as he looked back at you. Though he tried to hide it, his aventurine eyes held an unfamiliar vulnerability.
“Well,” you started slowly, carefully choosing your words. “You are a member of this team, and you should be treated as such.” Fingers still ghosting his chin, you guided him to face you. “You deserve the same treatment I would give everyone else.”
His brow furrowed as he studied you cautiously. It took him a moment before he finally spoke again. “Should that be what you wish to believe, it is fine by me.” You could hear the sharpness returning to his voice.
The god turned away, leaning back in his seat with closed eyes, effectively ignoring you. Now, you could have chosen to change seats, to move away from the cold attitude clearly directed at you, but you stayed. One, you were tired like everyone else and didn’t feel like getting up. Two, you were going to be stubborn and bug him with your presence.
Eventually a calm quiet enveloped the Quinjet, seeping into your bones. Feeling your eyes droop, you settled in your seat for as much comfort as you could get before drifting off.
You imagined hours had passed by the time you woke. Your muscles ached from the position you had fallen into, your neck being the worst. Tentatively rolling your shoulder, you tried to sit up and stretch only to find you couldn’t. Your head was resting you thought was the side of your seat, but there was a light weight keeping on top keeping you from moving. You opened your eyes to a shocking sight.
No, your sleeping position was a bit different from what you thought. Your makeshift pillow happened to be Loki’s shoulder. He, in turn, had his head on yours, probably having fallen asleep shortly after you. It seemed like he was still asleep, his chest rhythmically rising and falling in a way that could be described as soft. You could only imagine the tranquil expression on his face. There was absolutely no way you were going to look. You would probably move too much and wake him, and that would be the end of this little moment.
The rest of the team was asleep, save for Thor. Even with exhaustion drenching his body, he was wide awake, grinning like a madman when he realized you had caught him watching. How long had he bared witness to the scene unfolding? With a scowl, you pressed your finger to your lips, signaling him to keep quiet. He merely nodded, that knowing smile still plastered on his face.
Tumblr media
The call you received from Maria shocked the lingering sleep from your body. A small team had been formed to infiltrate a hostage situation - a team that included Nat, Loki, Steve and another field medic whose name you hadn’t even had the chance to remember yet. The mission had soured once they reached the hostages. Everyone was being brought back to the compound for treatment. It was all hands on deck.
Quickly shucking your pajamas, you threw on a pair of scrubs and sneakers and made a mad dash to the Med Bay. The place was pure chaos. Most of the doctors and nurses were tending to the hostages in the main rooms. The team was near the back in separate rooms.
Spotting Maria who was attempting to direct people and bring some semblance of order to the wing, you rushed over to her. “Where do you need me?”
She flipped through the files on her data pad, not even looking up to see who she was speaking to. “Everyone has a medic taking care of them except for Steve and Loki. Start there.”
“Understood,” you nodded, leaving Maria to do what else was needed.
Down the hall, you took note of the injuries you could see of the various patients. Burns… Lots of burns… What in the world happened?
Passing by Nat’s room, she seemed mostly alright. She gave you a minute bob of her head that you reciprocated before meeting up with Steve. He had burns along one side of his body. Thankfully, the treatment would be minimal compared to some of the others.
“Hey,” he greeted you with a grimace as you began your work.
“How’re you feeling?”
He huffed out a tiny laugh, “Honestly, not terrible.”
With the top half of his suit tugged down, you gingerly cleaned and added ointment to soothe the wounds. “What happened out there?”
“One of the hostages… Well… He had an explosive… Saddled up to Trevor…”
Oh… The field medic… Oh god…
Steve sucked in a breath like he couldn’t get enough air in his lungs. “Loki tried to contain it, but… We were all a little late in reacting.”
Your hands stilled. “How bad is he?”
The super soldier plucked the salve container from your fingers. “He’ll live, but if you’re really that worried about him, I can handle the rest of this.”
“You know him.” You tried to snag the container back. “He’ll come up with any excuse to not let us help him. If he knows I left you here, he’ll insist I leave him alone.”
Steve held it away from you with his good arm like a kid holding its younger sibling’s toy out of reach. “I doubt he will do that this time,” he smiled reassuringly, a glint of knowing shining in his eyes.
Leaning on the bed, you heaved a sigh. “You’re gonna drag me in there if I refuse, aren’t you?”
“Yup,” he ended with a pop. “Now get going!” He shooed you away.
“Fine,” you groaned, playfully dramatic. “But you can bet I will be back later to make sure you did everything right.”
He let loose a chuckle. “I’d expect nothing less.”
Leaving Steve to his own devices, you went to the next room down the hall. The door was shut and the privacy blinds were closed. Was Loki hurt that badly that the others had to be hidden away?
With a quick announcing knock, you steeled yourself and pushed the door open, sliding in before silently closing it again. When you turned to face Loki, you were met with something you hadn’t quite expected to see. What burns still littered his skin looked as though they were mostly healed over, but that wasn’t the problem. With his armor off, you were able to get a good look at his arms and upper torso.
Blue. His skin was blue. Ridges meticulously adorned his arms, up his chest and even his face. It was such a stark contrast to his Asgardian form, yet it still suited him well. From unmarred, alabaster skin to decorated, indigo skin. Perfection in both forms.
“Loki?” you announced your presence as softly as possible.
His face scrunched as he squinted his eyes open to find you standing beside him. “Aren’t there others that need tending to?” The hoarseness of his voice betrayed the harshness he attempted to convey.
“We’ve enough staff to manage everyone well enough,” you shook your head with a smile.
Now that you were closer, you could see he was sweating profusely. His breaths were so shallow. Brushing away a locket of hair matted to his forehead, you found his skin warm… Much warmer than it should be. Instead of recoiling immediately, you laid your palm flush with his forehead. “You are burning up!”
You pulled away to pop outside the door. Waving down a nurse, you asked him to bring in as many ice packs as he could. What was currently stored in the room would not be enough. Returning, you pulled out all of the packs. You wrapped them in some towels so they wouldn’t directly touch his skin. Then, you placed them around Loki, hoping this would be enough until the nurse got back with you.
The god rested silently while you worked. It was only when you pulled up a chair next to him to keep an eye on his vitals that he finally spoke. “Why are you still here?” A sort of vulnerability leaked out of his voice.
“Because you need help,” you deadpanned, really not wanting this argument again.
“No.” His brow furrowed with frustration, ruby eyes staring at the ceiling. “Why haven’t you run yet?”
You brushed a little more of his tresses away from his face. “And why would I do that?”
“Are you blind? Do you not see the monstrosity before you?” He scowled, still refusing to look at you.
“No, I don’t.”
He barked out a laugh that he immediately regretted. “Then what, pray tell, do you see?”
Reaching across for his cheek, you guided him to face you, receiving little resistance. His skin was still hot but not quite as much as before. “I see a person who risked his own safety to protect a bunch of civilians. There’s no way you could be a monster even with your jötun form.”
“So, you do know what I am…” A deep frown etched across his face.
“Yes… If it makes you feel any better, only a select few know. I have to know the medical histories of all the Avengers if I’m to treat them in the field.”
Silence…
“And for what it’s worth, this,” your thumb graced the apple of his cheek, “is not scary in the slightest.”
His eyes searched yours frantically for any hint of dishonesty. A trembling hand raised and settled on yours, pressing it further on his face. His lips parted to speak but was interrupted by a light knock on the door.
With an apologetic smile, you slid your hand from his grasp. The nurse from before had returned with the ice packs. A quick “thank you” and you brought the tray in the room, shutting the door behind you. Just as you had before, you surrounded him with the new packs. Loki’s chest rose and fell more deeply as he cooled down even further, skin morphing into a pale sky blue and eyes returning to the bluish-green you’ve come to know.
“Well, you’re at least responding quickly. How do you feel?” You hovered at his bedside.
He locked eyes with you again, a cocktail of emotions swirling about despite his attempts to keep a straight face. “I-” he cleared his throat. “Better…”
“Good, good…” Your hands fiddled with the sheets. “Is there anything you need?”
Loki’s lips pursed, and he swallowed thickly. His digits brushed against yours, halting your nervous tick. “Stay?”
“Of course,” you breathed.
The corners of your mouth tugged upwards as you glided your fingers into his palm like two puzzle pieces meant to fit together, giving his hand a light squeeze. You pulled your seat closer and sat back down.
Just as you made yourself comfortable, Loki raised your hand to his face. His lips grazed over your knuckles as he whispered, “Thank you…”
“Anytime.” And you meant it. “I’ll stay for as long as you’ll have me.”
He let your entwined hands float back down to the bed as he chuckled. “If that’s the case, I do hope you are well prepared.”
“Oh, yeah?” You smirked. “And just how long do you plan on keeping me around?”
“For as long as you will have me.”
Tumblr media
Little did either of you know, Thor had come to the Med Bay to check on Loki after he heard the news and was listening to the conversation through the closed door. He decided to leave you be for now. The congratulations and light teasing could wait until tomorrow.

Tumblr media
Previously
Belphie look on until he can’t see them anymore, then turn to look at Lucifer who is bend over to pool of blue substance. With the tip of his finger, he dips it and examine it, then it started to turn black.
“Is he?” Belphie asks Lucifer with a worry tone.
“We just have to keep an eye on him, what ever is happen is not good for us and y/n if my suspicion is correct.”
“Keep quiet, if they see us with Mammon like this. They’re going to flip” Levi helps Satan Beel to carry Mammon’s unconscious body. While Asmo looks around, if the purgatory boys or you are out in the halls. While they sneak inside.
“Be care with his head”
“I know Satan”
“Will you two keep your mouth shut, you’ll wake him up”
“What happen to Mammon?” a voice scared Levi, Asmo and Beel causing them to stiff.
“He pass out on our way back, were taking him to Lucifer’s room” Satan answer Simeon with a casual tone.
“Then why not in his room with y/n, their already there with Luke and Solomon watch a movie” Simeon with a questionable look on his face.
“Look it’s a long story, we just have to bring him into Lucifer’s right now before y/n or Luke see him like this.” Simeon agrees and help the demons moving Mammon through the halls, quietly.
Once they got to the door, they realize something.
“We forgot to asks for his keys” Beel said it first, Satan mentally facepalm himself. So, Levi start picking on the door knob, while Asmo holds his D.D.D with flashlight on top of Levi to give a better lighting.
Suddenly Mammon stirrup wake, Beel and Satan notice “Mammon it’s alright”.
In a spilt second, he shifted to his demon form, and grab Satan and Beel by the back of their necks, and crushing their head together, knocking them out and dropping them on the floor near his feet.
“Mammon!?!” Simeon scream, causing the other two brothers to look and gasp to what they saw.
Mammon crouch down on all fours with his hands on the back of both Satan and Beel. He stares at the three standing with sclera of his eyes turns black with sapphire blue glowing iris. Feral look on his face and snarling at them.
“Mammon?” Levi muttered his big brother’s name, call to him. “I-its us. Please you know us” pleading to him. Mammon let out a low and deep growl, and slowly walk toward them. But Beel grab his leg stop him. For a second.
Mammon kicks him square in the face causing him to let go, Mammon quickly rushes forward to Levi’s direction. But Asmo tackle Levi from behind causing them to fall forward and Mammon when over them, Simeon manage to press against wall avoiding Mammon charge.
Levi and Asmo shifted to their demon forms and get back up on their feet and facing Mammon. Who just look at them watching their movement carefully? The three stares at each other in silences waiting for someone to make the first move.
“you guys are home already?” your voice broke the silences of the hall. Mammon sees you at the end of the hall behind Satan and Beel.
Mammon roar and dashes through Levi and Asmo, manage to get to you. He quickly wraps his arms around you holding you tight.
“M-mammon?” mumble his name, all you can hear is a low growling from him while his looking at his brothers.
Levi, Asmo, Simeon, and Beel who manage to get on his feet, rushes towards you and Mammon.
Mammon stretches his wings, with one loud roar he flops his wings, he flew through the ceiling with you in his arms.
You were knock out by the collision of the ceiling. You couldn’t hear the others call to you and Mammon as you two flew farther from the house.
Lucifer and Belphie were outside when it all happen. They saw Mammon flying through the cold night with you in his arms. Lucifer swiftly shifted and try to get close. But Mammon notice, sensing a threat his wings change close to his demonic form. With one big flop Mammon dashes forward leaving Lucifer fall back by the shock of his wings flop. Once he manages to balance himself in the air, it was too late you and Mammon were long gone, who knows where he taken you.
You two found yourselves in a familiar forest as he continues to fly over the woods, where he spots a mountain, he slowly decent down. There he landed near a cave on the side of the mountain with scratches around the entire way of the cave.
He enters the cave with you being carried bridal style wrap around you is his jacket keeping you warmth as he ascend the deeper into the darker part of the cave gets to the point you can see anything if you were awake. But Mammon just keeps on walking like he knows the place and his iris glow as if he can see in the dark.
Finally, you two manage reach a cavern, Mammon flew down into the cavern and keep on walking. As he takes each step a sound of coin and metal clashing can be heard. Once he got to the middle of the cavern where there is a nest made of gold, rare fabric, small statues of him, and bones and skull of humans and demons, he gently set you down and grab the nearest fabrics and place them on top of you and under your head.
Then he flew up to the ceiling of the cavern, and grab the overgrowth of vines and leaves. Using one of his newly claw hand, he starts cutting vines clearing up the hole above the nest and letting the moon shine through the hole. Lighting up the cavern revealing all the treasure inside.
Old scrolls and books, gold, silver coins, rare fabric, statues of Mammon, and bones scatter all over the place.
Then he flew back down, then circle around your sleeping body after which he curls up next to you before drifted to sleep.
“Ugh… My head…. What happen…... Mammon where is he.” Satan rub his head as he gets up, when it all comes back to him, he franticly looks around when his sight landed on the four looking up to the gigantic hole above them.
“What just happen?” Levi is stunted as he asks.
“Beel where’s Mammon” Satan walks over to them, “he flew away” Beel asks his brother.
“He what!”
“Did you see him?” Asmo’s chirpy and bubbly personality is gone, replace with worry and fear. As he stares at the hole in the ceiling.
“W-we have to find him…...we have to find them……not just because of a psycho out there, but something is happening to Mammon. Who knows what’s he’s going through o-or what’s happening to him and y/n might be scare of him o-or~” Asmo voice is cracking as he starts to go into a hysteria? When Satan grab him by the shoulder and shake him out of it.
“Asmo calm down, will find them and we will help Mammon.” Satan reassure his younger brother, as tears start to build in the corner of his eyes.
“That is our plan.” Lucifer and Belphie walking in and Lucifer start explaining what his suspicion are, and what their next course of action.
“Mammon is subconsciously reawaking his demonic side” Asmo gasp while the others eyes widen to what they just heard as Lucifer continues “after the casino incident, rumors spread a cross with the night. That and y/n injured like that and how the students…...” Lucifer trails of for a second “and our insults towards his status of being second and his responsibility of looking after y/n. all that mountain to the beast inside of him to awaking and slowly taking over”
“B-but the Blue lotus, it supposed to stop that from ever happening”
“Levi, the petals can only do so much. Seeing y/n injured is one thing, he’ll gladly take the responsibly for that. But the rumors, our insult and nagging how he can’t do anything right. Added in his own insecurities of feeling inadequate. The petals suppress our demonic forms not stopping them from taking over when they see us in our weakest state. It felt Mammon frustrated with himself and the state of his “mate” anger it to the point of Mammon subconsciously awaking it and force the blue lotus out of him. Making it easier to come out. That why he keeps vomiting out the blue substance the past two weeks, is isn’t right Lucifer” Satan look over to Lucifer for confirmation about his theory. Which Lucifer nod causing the others to gasp.
“So, his dangerous then we though, is there other way to keep that thing from taking over Mammon” Simeon asks Lucifer who only shake his head.
“The blue lotus is the only thing can suppress us from changing into those forms. And the only things can go against are Demonic form are ourselves either one of us changes into those forms and stop him or Mammon learn to control the beast inside of him before it takes full control and we might lose are brother for good.”
All of them look at each other, with fear and worry on their faces. Trying to know who has the answer. While Lucifer look through the hold in the ceiling and into the sky, wondering where is Mammon taking you and hope that the two of you are safe.

Hihi♡ Can I please have an angst scenario for Benn Beckman where he had an argument with his fem S/O and said something rude then the S/O gets off at an island and is captured; and he finds her tortured and stuff. Sorry if it's too much hehe,, I've been soo deprived of angst lately. And if you don't write for Benn, can you do it for Ace or Shanks instead? Tysm in advance😘 love your writing btw😌 Keep up the amazing work honey💕
Hi dearest, I’m sorry for taking so long to get this up but here it is. I hope you enjoy it. Also, you may have seen this but here's something kind of similar I did awhile ago with Shanks. Love you!
Pronouns: She/Her
Word Count: 1,243
Faith
Benn flung open the cellar door. The musky smell of dust and rot floated past the pirate. He wrinkled his nose, and he took his first steps down into the cellar. The stone steps were crumbling under his feet as if they hadn't been touched in years. The unsettling cold of the near-empty cellar clung to his skin. Benn had to crouch to protect his head from hitting the ceiling. The farther he traveled from the steps, the meaner the chill became, and the smell of mildew became stronger. Benn let out a long low whistle; the sound bounced off the walls and into darkness. He listened keenly for his responses. His heart jumped into his throat as a broken-sounding whistle replied. It was broken, but it was her whistle. They continued their game of Marco-Polo until (Name) finally came into view.
Benn knelt in front of her. In the darkness, he cupped (Name) 's face and whispered, "Hey Sugarcane, are you with me?"
(Name) nodded her head yes before whispering in a hoarse voice, "I think I'm hurt."
Benn sucked in a breath, "Where? Where are you hurt, (Name)?" His hands gently began trailing down her skin. His warm fingers soothed the goosebumps for a moment. In response to her silence, Benn draped his coat over her shoulders as he began trying to find her wounds. His lips pursed as his fingers felt the rusted metal on the cuffs clamped far too tight on (Name) 's wrists. Benn struggled to pry them apart, then began investigating the chains attached to the wall. He was sure he looked pretty foolish at the moment; if a light turned on at the moment, it would certainly look as if Benn was the feral beast keeping (Name) captive.
He pulled his gun from his waist and began bashing the butt of the weapon against the chains. Benn desperately pulled on the chains, and the wall the chains were attached to began to give. With more furious beating against the cracks and then a final pull on the chains, the first one popped out of place.
(Name) watched with a tired but relieved expression as Benn began to work on the second chain. She couldn't help but reach out to him while working on getting the next chain free. She managed to grasp the hem of Benn's dark shirt before whispering, "What if they catch us?"
Benn looked over his shoulder with a sly grin on his face, but it's not like (Name) could see it. "Do you really think it was just me coming for you?" he chuckled, "I'm not the only one who loves you, Sugarcane."
(Name) couldn't help but smile back at Benn. "The captain is coming?" she asked as Benn pulled the final chain free.
"Of course he is. Shanks is probably tearing the town upside down as we speak in search of you," Benn pulled (Name) to his chest, "Can you walk at all?"
In her stubbornness (Name) did make an attempt to walk. She managed to take a few awkward steps before her legs couldn't move anymore.
Benn did his best to hold (Name) as he moved through the tight cellar. "Damn, I'm sure you're the only one who fits down here, Shortie," Benn swore as he awkwardly moved about.
When they finally reached the steps, Benn sighed in relief. Not only could he stand up straight now, but the sunlight poured in from the surface. He held her close to his chest and hurried up the steps; there was no time to waste now that he could move properly.
(Name) squinted and groaned at the light and hid her face in Benn's chest. "It's so bright," she murmured.
Benn smiled a little before jostling her in his arms, "Let me get a better look at you now that I can see." His breath caught in his throat when he saw (Name) 's face clearly. Blood caked on the side of her face. It was beginning to crust at the edges. Part of her hairline was sticky, and her scalp was stained red. Her face and arms had been sliced and bruised. Benn couldn’t bear to imagine what other horrors were hidden beneath his cloak.
Benn's entire body started to tremble as he looked at her bloody and beaten face. "(Name) I'm so sorry," his mouth was dry, and he looked sick, "Gods, (Name). I'm so sorry, if I had known this would happen, I would've never…" Benn trailed off as she tried to turn away from him. He swallowed hard, then began heading towards the docks. As they left, Benn was murmuring apologies between stern reminders. "I know you're angry with me, but keep your eyes on me," he kept saying.
Benn managed to fish his handheld responder snail out of his pocket. He called his captain and confirmed that (Name) was alive but badly injured. She managed to croak out a hello to the captain as well. In which the Shanks-like face became upset at the state of his fellow crew member.
Once Benn got on deck, he was met with a serious-faced captain. Shanks’ face was dark with concern, and followed a very silent Benn toward the ship's infirmary. The captain watched Benn bring (Name) inside the infirmary and promptly get kicked out.
Benn tapped his foot impatiently and watched the door waiting for the doctor to let him back in. He was so focused on his thought that he jumped when Shanks patted his back.
"You can unclench your jaw now," Shanks said with a hint of a smile on his face, "She'll be just fine."
"Liar," Benn muttered, "She was trapped in a warehouse cellar." Benn began to fidget and pulled out a cigarette. After lighting it, he took a long drag from it and tilted his head away from Shakes.
"You can't wait out here forever, Beckman," Shanks sighed before turning to leave, "Have faith in your crewmates, won't you?"
And Benn did have faith. He waited and waited, and his faith rewarded him. He nearly collapsed with relief when the physician said (Name) would be alright. They asked him if he wanted to see her, and Benn said yes, but saying and doing are very different. The guilt began to bubble up in his mind and effectively make his stomach ache. If only he hadn't had shouted at her, maybe things would be different.
He took a deep breath and stepped inside the recovery room. Benn grit his teeth at the sight of his partner curled up on the bed. In a low voice, he called her name, the cowardly part of him hoping she'd be asleep. That part of him was overjoyed to hear the soft snore come out of (Name). The part of himself made of sheer grit and grease was agitated. Not with her, not really. Benn just wanted to kiss and make up.
Benn sat on the edge of the bed with a sigh. "You need to get better soon (Name). I need to apologize to you properly. Besides, if you leave me without at least getting the apology you deserve, I'll have to be grumpy for the rest of my life. And I'm far too scary as it is to win the heart of anyone else, so unless I'm destined to be a crotchety bachelor, you gotta get better. Please, have faith in me to do the right thing."

The Search For Marinette Dupain-Cheng
This is my take on my prompt The Search For Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
You know, I always wondered about Marinette taking care of Akumas while overseas. If she takes too long, she’ll scare her loved ones half to death. Can’t rush too much or else she risks losing her miraculous because of it. Since no one is aware of her identity, she doesn’t have anyone to cover for her.  Friends who are unaware of the truth will cover her for so long before they have to fess up.
In salt fics, the class usually doesn’t care where Marinette is on Gotham trips. Here, they give a shit.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In which Lila messes with some signs and Marinette gets lost when she comes back late (via Kaalki) after dealing with an Akuma attack in France.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two week school field trip in Tokyo was supposed to be an enjoyable experience. There’s booked reservations at classy restaurants, a fancy hotel with a big pool, shows, and tours throughout Tokyo. Lila is most looking forward to the fashion expo. If she doesn’t do something soon, it looks like she’ll miss out on that too. Marinette been missing for two days and Lila is already sick of it.
All because she miscalculated in a spur of the moment plan.
“Marinetteeee! Where are you,” shouts a crying Alya. The girl spots a few tourists and shoves a flier in their faces. Nino joins in with his own fliers. “Have you seen my friend Marinette Dupain-Cheng? Cutest French girl you’ve ever seen with a heart of gold. So kind she’d innocently help a stranger, unaware they’re a bad guy.” The tourists each give a half hearted ‘no’ before speed walking away.
“Walk faster Lila! Marinette can be anywhere.”
Lila puts on a concerned mask. “Of course.”
All this time wasted just because she moved some signs.
She hadn’t meant for Marinette to go missing. Only to buy some time so she can guilt trip Adrien to be her partner for the fashion expo.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day before, the class went to a big nature park. It’s notable for its many trails. The deeper you went into the park, the denser the trees are. They all partnered up and to her dismay she got Nathaniel instead of Adrien. The best thing about the artist is that he gets so into drawing the sights he doesn’t notice when she wanders off. It gave her more time to plot how to switch partners with the least amount of fuss.
During one of her secret plotting sessions, she heard a very loud conversation farther down the trail she’s on. Rose shouts for Marinette to not split up, and Marinette screams back a blatant lie about wanting to see a moose in the Relaxation Trial. Also to not expect her for forty minutes. Total hypocrite this girl is. ‘We can only be friends if you stop lying.’ Sure, and it’s okay for only Marinette to lie. Everyone else who does so is bad. Can’t even tell Rose you honestly want to ditch her.
When Lila noticed the Relaxation Trail sign nearby, an idea formed in her head. She ducked into a bush to hide. When Marinette ran into the trail and her map fell out of her bag Lila burst into action.
It took a little adjustment to the multiple sign post. It wasn’t too hard as the signs on the pole were already a little loose. Just needed to switch the sign that led back to the meetup with the Reflection Trial sign. According to the map, the Reflection one is a winding trial leading to a dead end. Marinette would be forced to walk all the back as the park employees told them it’s easy to get lost if you go off the trial. Aside from putting some sticks on the map, it was left mostly alone as she wanted her rival to use it to get back to base. She may not have liked Marinette, but she didn’t want anything horrible to happen to her.
By the time it got dark, Marinette still hadn’t gotten back to the meetup point. Forty minutes had already flown by. Lila hadn’t noticed as she was trying to convince Adrien to switch partners and tell everyone it was his idea. If Marinette was here the noisy girl would have interfered.
Rose’s cry of alarm got the others to find out Marinette was missing. The goodie two shoes wasn’t answering Rose’s calls. A quick check near the Relaxation Trial sign revealed Marinette’s map had flown into a bush.
The field trip went downhill from there.
The police were called. Afterwards, it’s discovered the cameras in that area were down much to Lila’s relief. Even though she feels a bit responsible, she’s not admitting to anything. Even if she did confess, it’s not like it’ll help the police. Doing so will get her in huge trouble and gain scrutiny in her actions from then on. How will telling what she did help find Marinette? It’d be for nothing.
When it comes down to it, Lila’s self preservation is above Marinette’s well being.
Some good fun will keep her mind from unpleasant things. Too bad no one besides Lila is interested in the scheduled events. This is a vacation, so going to a few events is a must. The class just want to spend time searching for Marinette. The transfer student wouldn’t have minded hanging up missing posters or spreading the word. This class takes it to another level.
Every waking moment is spent looking for Marinette. Breaks become a treasured time. They walk many miles each day. Max posts missing posters in Japanese forums. Alya bothers the police for updates. Adrien even got Chole (who stayed in Paris) to pull some strings to get more attention in the local news.
Because of Marinette’s disappearance, they have to stay in groups of at least three. No exceptions. So if Lila wants to do anything, she needs to convince any group she’s in to go with her.
It’s more challenging than expected.
Day 5
"Hey guys, why don’t we take our break inside the museum we were supposed to go to? It has air conditioning and we can look at some stuff for a bit while we’re sitting down.”
“Sorry Lila, I’m not in the mood to admire art.”
“I agree with Nathaniel. Just doesn’t feel right.”
Day 8
“Let’s go on the sightseeing tour. We can look for Marinette while we’re on it.”
“No thanks.”
“Nah, a taxi is better as we can choose where to drive.”
Day 10
“.....my leg injury is acting up. It’s okay to leave me here. I don’t mind.”
“No way Lila. We’re not leaving you alone on a bench outside Universal Studios. What if we lose you too?”
“.............”
Day 11
Lila has had it with these people. Reservations and events have been canceled. Solemn, awkward moping. Refusal to do anything but looking for Marinette. The only event left is the one she’s been most looking forward to: the fashion expo. Through some maneuvering and sneakiness, no one remembered to cancel the expo tickets.
There’s no way in hell she wants to miss this event: a lecture by Edna Mode herself. There’s rumors circling the fashion industry the famous designer is going to explore a new clothing line. Along with finding a muse for it.
The previous class activities can be let go without much struggle. Not this one, though. This could be the golden ticket to a very prestigious job. Even more than being a Gabriel model.
There’s a chance things might go right this time. The group is filled by pushovers Adrien, Rose, and Juleka. As long as she stays firm, they’ll go along with her plan.
With the directions in mind, Lila manages to slyly maneuver the group to walk outside Tokyo Big Sight. The sight of the Edna Mode banners hanging outside the arena fills her with excitement.
Lila coughs for their attention. “Guys, it’s time for our lunch break. We need the energy to keep this up.”
Rose reluctantly says, “Oh you’re right Lila. Can you pass out our lunches please?”
“Sure thing.” She reaches into the bag and whoops. There’s conveniently no lunch bags in there. “Oh no guys, there’s only water bottles in here.”
“It’s okay Lila, we can buy some food nearby.” Rose digs out her phone. “Hmm... I think there’s a cheap fast food place nearby.”
“There’s no need to look far. We can just go into the expo. They have to have some food near the entrance.”
There’s silence at her words.
Juleka narrows her eyes. “Why do I feel you just want to go to the expo?”
Lila is surprised Juleka of all people is calling her out. “No, no. It’s just, why walk more when there’s food right here.”
“Lila, do you not care about finding Marinette?,” a sad Rose asks.
“How could you say that? Of course I do! We worked so hard and we deserve a break. Marinette would understand.”
Rose snaps. “Understand? Every minute counts! We might never see Marinette ever again. She could be injured and alone, kidnapped, or worse! If one of us was missing, she wouldn’t give up.”
The fire in Rose’s eyes startles Lila. Never thought she’d see the bubbly girl break her happy persona.
“No one said anything about giving up. Besides, the police are looking-”
“That doesn’t mean we should sit by and do nothing.” Rose tears up. “It’s my fault Marinette is gone. If I didn’t let her run off on her own, she would still be here.”
Juleka gives a comforting hug to Rose.
Adrien speaks up. “I know you don’t like Marinette, but I never thought you would sink so low. It’s one thing if you’re not interested in helping. It’s another to actively interfere in something our friends care about.”
“I d-d-o care. We can pick up search after we eat.” It’s not like Lila wanted to prevent them from searching for Marinette. Ms. Bustier has forbidden anyone from being on their own. So she needed someone to be with her in order to do something.
Lila spent so much time reassuring them, they missed the lecture.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“---Breaking News! A French teenager stopped a missile launch by terrorists. Marinette Dupain-Cheng went missing during her class’ field trip. Miraculously, she disabled their base of operations, rescued a Princess, fought against pirates, escaped on the back of a deer, got their leader to surrender to the authorities-”
“That’s our every day Ladybug.” Alya hugs the TV with tears of joy. “Obviously she’d save the day while missing.” The reporter actually hissed when a stranger tried to tell her to stop hogging the TV. No one attempted removing her after that.
Since Ms. Bustier is currently with the police to bring Marinette back, there’s no one to reign in the partying classmates. Alix somehow convinced the hotel to give them a big complementary celebration cake.
The only person not celebrating is an angry Lila. Glaring at her phone, the headlines riles her up every time she sees it.
Edna Mode’s First Baby Fashion Line
The Inspiration Behind the New Designs
“My godson is my inspiration-”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jack-Jack is Edna’s muse. Lol.
To save you a google search, this park mentioned in this fic is made up. It’s based on a bunch nature parks I’ve been to before. Tokyo does have parks and nature trials, though. In case you missed it, an attack happened in the late afternoon and Marinette got back at night (when it got dark) in Japan Standard Time. Keep in mind there is a 8 hour difference between these countries.
With this completed, I can finish chapter two of Dupont’s Worst Nightmare. :)

Possible angsty prompt: sam and bucky are at a super market in New York and someone tries to rob it but oh no no no you got two avengers there so that ain't happening but low and behold peter shows up because robbery, but sam and bucky still really don't like Peter. Maybe Peter takes a bullet for one of them?
I like this!! I changed it up a bit but I tried not to deviate too far from what you asked for. Hope you like it!! xoxo
P.S. I added SteveTony in here bc I’m a slut for that ship and I like to add it whenever I can.
Tumblr media
Steve exits the small medical room and walks over to the waiting room where both Bucky and Sam had been instructed to wait.
Not that they were planning to go anywhere. Not until they knew Peter was okay.
The duo looks up as Steve enters and takes a seat across from them, leaning on his knees and clasping his hands together. He’s quiet for a moment, looking down at the floor before looking back up at his friends.
“Peter is going to be fine. The bullet was less than an centimeter from his carotid artery, but he’ll be fine now.”
Both waiting men let go of their collective breaths, relaxing slightly with the knowledge that no. They didn’t get the kid killed.
“You’re lucky Tony refuses to leave Peter’s side, or this would be a lot louder.”
Neither Sam nor Bucky answer him.
Steve sighs, leaning back in his chair, “Tell me what happened.”
Three hours earlier
There’s a clap on Bucky’s shoulder, and Sam is lucky that the older man heard him coming beforehand.
“You about done, old man? We gotta head back soon.”
Bucky signs a paper and takes a small envelope from the teller, giving her a small smile as a thanks.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” Bucky claps Sam’s shoulder harder, just enough to make the man stumble.
“Jackass.” He mumbles.
There’s suddenly an onslaught of bullets being shot into the ceiling, forcing everyone to the ground.
“Get on the ground! Face down! Don’t move or we’ll shoot!” One of the perpetrators yells as they walk farther into the bank.
Bucky and Sam drop with everyone else, a plan already formulating in their heads. Luckily, they dropped behind an island counter and can quietly communicate without the gunmen seeing.
Sam has a gun, but is a lot less skilled with it than Bucky. So Sam’s main goal is distraction and keeping the guns away from civilians while Bucky takes each gunman down.
Just as they move into position to kick off their plan, a familiar voice rings out.
“There’s a lot less violent ways to take out a loan. You guys know that, right?”
The two men exchange glances.
“You’ve got to be shitting-“ Sam’s complaints are cut off as bullets begin to rain hellfire once again.
Bucky takes the distraction to stand and shoot, taking down two gunmen before a third one is shot with web fluid, pinning him to the ground.
“Oh hi Mister Barnes!” Spider-Man calls, flipping over a fourth and webbing him too.
“This isn’t Queens, kid. What are you doing here?” Sam asks, already moving to help any injured hostages.
“I was close enough and caught the call on the police scanner. I figured-“
“Get outta here kid, we have it handled.” Bucky says, shooting the fifth guy who had hidden when Spider-Man appeared.
“Hey! I took down two of these guys. I just wanted to help. I didn’t even know you were here.”
“Well we are. So you can go now.” Says Sam, who is now leading people out of the building.
Spider-Man huffs, but his spider sense tingles and he turns, his surroundings moving in slow motion as he sees one of the men that Bucky had shot down roll over and lift his gun, pointing it at Bucky who was turned away from him.
Without thinking, Peter grabs Bucky’s shirt and throwing the man behind him, moving in the way of the bullet.
Now
Steve runs a hand down his face.
“So Peter stepped in between you and a bullet?”
Bucky rubs his hands together, eyes downcast.
“Yeah.”
“After you told him to leave.” He asks, his eyes moving to Sam.
“Yeah.” Sam answers quietly.
Steve stands and grabs his chair, swinging it closer to his friends. He sits.
“You two are my best friends. But Tony is my husband now. And Peter, for all intents and purposes, is his kid. Can you guys please try to get along with the kid? I know he’s a hyper kid but he took a bullet for you. Maybe cut him some slack?”
Bucky nods, rubbing his own face, “Yeah.”
“We can do that.” Sam adds.
“Good,” Steve smiles, “I’d avoid Tony for the rest of the night though.”
The next morning
Peter is sipping on some apple juice, sitting up with the help of his hospital bed.
Tony had left a few minutes ago, saying that he needed to shower now that the kid wasn’t in critical condition.
There’s a knock at the door, and Peter turns his attention to it. His whole torso has to turn with him so he doesn’t pull at the still healing wound.
“Come in.”
Much to his surprise, Sam and Bucky walk into his room, Sam holding a red gift bag with blue tissue paper.
“Uh, hi?” Peter says, putting his juice box down on the table next to his bed, “What’s up?”
The two men look at each other as if they have no idea what to do. Sam speaks up first.
“We want to apologize for what happened yesterday.”
“Oh! Why? You didn’t shoot me.” Peter says.
Bucky shakes his head, “I was so distracted by the fact that you were there that I didn’t notice that the guy was still alive. If I had been paying attention-“
“It’s fine guys, really-“
“No it’s not,” Sam interjects, “We made a mistake that almost got you killed. And that’s on us.”
Peter’s eyes move from Bucky to Sam.
“I’m sorry, Peter.” Sam says.
“I’m sorry.” Bucky adds, “And we, uh, brought you a gift.”
Sam steps forward and hands the bag to Peter, who smirks.
“Spider-Man colors?”
“Man, shut up and open it.” Sam chuckles.
Peter smiles and removes the blue tissue paper, pulling out a black hoodie that is way too big for him. On the front it says ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier are my favorite Avengers’.
It’s obvious they got it at one of those venders that can make just about whatever you want on clothing.
Peter let’s out a laugh and lowers the shirt, “Thanks guys. I love it.”
“That’s not it.” Sam says, and both he and Bucky unzip their jackets to reveal they are wearing matching red t-shirts that say ‘Spider-Man is my favorite Avenger’.
Peter let’s out a guttural laugh, struggling to catch his breath. When he finally does, he slips on his sweatshirt with help from Bucky.
“I think this is the best present I’ve ever gotten.”
Bucky rolls his eyes, “Eat it up, kid. Because we’re burning these once you get out of here.”
And that’s how Tony ends up with multiple copies of the three now friends making bunny ears behind each other’s heads, each wearing their corresponding shirts.

Mountainside: Chapter 1
Summary:  What happens when the quinjet goes down in the Austrian Alps and reader gets snowed in with Bucky at the safe house he brought her to in the mountains?
Warnings: Female reader, just fluff in this chapter
“It’s not much farther,” Bucky urged as I stopped to clutch at a stitch in my side. Our quinjet had been shot down somewhere in the Allgӓu Alps in Austria by a HYDRA drone, and we had been wandering the snowy mountainside for what felt like hours now. The snow was deep, and with every step I took I sunk into it up to my knees. My left arm hung limply at my side, having been injured in the crash, and my legs burned from trudging through the deep snow. I had only been wearing my jumpsuit when we crashed, and although Bucky had insisted I take his jacket I was still chilled to the bone. My teeth chattered, my fingers and toes were numb, and my chest ached with every ragged breath I took as a result of the frigid air and my physical exhaustion.
“Easy for you to say,” I snapped weakly. “Your body can withstand a hell of a lot more than mine.”
           “I offered to carry you.”
I shot him a disparaging look. “I may not be in great shape right now, but I still have my dignity.”
“Let me know what your dignity is worth when we reach the safehouse and you can’t even move because your legs are like lead,” Bucky replied with a shrug, and then he trudged ahead of me, leaving me to glare at his back as I mustered up the strength to keep going.
Truth be told, I was grateful that it had been Bucky on this mission with me. He was strong, smart, resourceful, calm in a crisis, and he knew this area well from when HYDRA still controlled him. If it wasn’t for him, even if I had managed to drag myself out of the wreckage of the jet, I would have had no idea how to navigate the mountain to get to the safehouse, let alone that there even was a safehouse nearby. So, despite how frustrating it was to see how easily he was handling this while I felt like death, I was glad to have him as a companion.
I almost cried in relief as we broke through the trees and the safehouse came into sight. It was just a small cabin nestled in the trees on the mountainside, but right now it offered a place to rest my aching body and warm up and it might as well have been a goddamn castle.
“Thank god,” I groaned, sinking to my knees in the snow. Bucky turned and cocked a dark eyebrow.
“You realize now you probably won’t be able to get back up, right?” he pointed out, and I shrugged.
“I don’t even care. We made it. I’ll crawl the rest of the way if I have to.”
Bucky rolled his eyes, and then he was slipping his hands under my arms – careful not to jostle the injured one – and hauled me back to my feet. “If you won’t let me carry you, at least let me help you,” he insisted. “Lean on my shoulder.”
Too tired to argue, I leaned heavily against Bucky’s side. His arm slipped around my waist, and truth be told he all but held me upright as we made our way to the cabin. He pressed a button at the door and then leaned in close to the speaker.
“Sergeant James Barnes,” he said in a clear, even voice, and then I heard a lock click. Bucky turned the knob and pulled me inside, stomping the snow off his boots on the mat. I tried to do the same, but as Bucky had predicted, my legs felt like lead. “Stay here,” he told me, and then he was grabbing a chair from the small kitchen table, setting it in front of me. He helped me sit before kneeling in front of me and lifting one of my feet to rest it on his knee.
“What are you doing?” I asked warily.
“Helping you. You can barely move, you’re so cold and stiff, and if you don’t get these boots off you’ll end up with frostbite.” His fingers were deft as they untied my laces, and then he gently took a hold of my calf and slid off one boot, then the other. Next, he peeled off my wet socks, and I felt my cheeks heat up as he examined my bare feet.
“The skin’s white – That’s an early stage of frostbite,” he said. “It won’t do damage, but it’ll be uncomfortable. I’m gonna start a fire before we do anything else so I can at least get you warmed up some.”
I watched as he stood and crossed the room to the small fireplace, arranging kindling and then logs expertly in the hearth. He lit a match, carefully lowering it to the kindling, and within a moment the fire was crackling. He came back over and helped me off the chair and over to the couch. The heat the little fire gave off was a relief after the biting cold of the mountain air, and I let out a soft sigh as I leaned towards the warmth.
“Not too close,” Bucky ordered, shoving me back into the couch gently but firmly. “If you warm up too fast it’ll put your body in shock. It has to be gradual.”
           “But I’m freezing,” I whined.
“Taking off that wet jumpsuit would help.”
I arched an eyebrow at him. “And do what, sit here in my underwear? I have nothing else to wear, Barnes.”
With a sigh, Bucky pulled the fleece sweater over his head, and then tugged off the blue Henley underneath as well. I coughed uncomfortably, shaking my head.
“If you think that you stripping down is going to make me want to –”
“The shirt is for you,” Bucky grumbled, tossing the Henley to me before pulling the sweater back over his head. Put it on until I have time to search for more clothes.”
I blushed, caught off-guard as Bucky turned around so I could change. With clumsy fingers still numb with cold, I managed to pull down the zipper in the front of the jumpsuit and shrug the damp material from my shoulders. As soon as my skin was exposed to the air I shivered, and then quickly pulled Bucky’s Henley on over my head, wincing as I lifted my injured arm. The shirt was still warm from Bucky’s supersoldier body heat, and it smelled like mountain air, smoke, and the lingering scent of his body wash he’d used that morning. I pulled it tight around me briefly, grateful to be wrapped in something warm and dry and soft, and then stood and shimmied my legs out of the jumpsuit, letting it drop to the floor. Because Bucky was a good deal taller than me, the shirt fell to my mid-thigh, covering my underwear. Satisfied, I sank back down onto the couch, crossing my legs and shoving my hands under my arms to try and warm them.
“Okay, I’m decent,” I said wryly, and he turned back around. Something unreadable flashed through his eyes as he looked at me, but it was gone in an instant and then he was coming over to pick up my discarded jumpsuit and hang it over a chair by the fire to dry.
“Feel any better?” he asked, and I nodded.
           “Yes. Thank you.”
Bucky grunted his response, heading to the kitchen to rummage through the cupboards. He came back with a first aid kit, and sat on the edge of the coffee table in front of me. “Let me see your arm,” he said, and I frowned.
           “It’s fine, it’s just a scratch –”
“(Y/N), you’ve been holding it weird and babying it ever since I pulled you out from the wreckage. It needs to be looked at, so let me see it.”
Something in his tone told me not to argue with him, and I held out my left arm so he could gently roll the sleeve of his Henley up to expose my bicep. He frowned, brows pulling together as he turned my arm over lightly to examine the extent of the damage.
“It’s not broken,” he finally said, “but it’s pretty badly bruised and that gash is going to need to be cleaned out and stitched up.” He pulled a bottle of rubbing alcohol from the box and soaked a wipe with it before meeting my eyes. “This is going to sting, are you ready?”
“I just survived a plane crash and a trek over a mountain,” I scoffed. “I think I can handle a little rubbing alcohol.”
Bucky shrugged, and then dabbed the wipe lightly over my wound. I clenched my teeth, hissing through them, and reflexively pulled my arm away from him. Bucky cocked a dark eyebrow, lips quirking up at the corners, and I glared at him.
“Not a word,” I grumbled. His eyes sparkled.
“I wasn’t going to say anything.”
           “Mhmm.”
Once he was satisfied the wound was clean, he threaded a needle with the nylon thread in the first aid kit and then gave me an expectant look. “Are you going to be okay with the actual stitches?” he asked wryly, and I scowled.
“Just hurry up and get it over with, Barnes.”
Bucky was very meticulous as he stitched up my wound, almost professional in his movements. I wondered if he had learned this particular skill in the war, or if it was something he had picked up during his time with HYDRA. Or maybe it went back much further than that, to the days when Steve would pick fights with guys twice his size and instead of telling his parents he had to go to the doctor again for stitches, Bucky learned to stitch him up himself. The thought had me struggling to suppress a grin, and Bucky looked up at me with a furrowed brow.
“Something funny?” he asked, and I shook my head.
“It’s nothing,” I replied, and he shook his head before continuing his work.
When Bucky finished, he cut the thread with his teeth and then wrapped a bandage around my bicep to cover the stitches. He sat back but narrowed his eyes as he looked at my face. “You got hit in the head,” he pointed out, lifting his flesh hand to run his fingertips just above my eyebrow. I winced; I hadn’t even known there’d been a cut there. “You could have a concussion,” Bucky continued. “Do you have a headache? Ringing in your ears? Blurry vision?”
I shook my head. “Bucky, I’m fine,” I insisted, slightly exasperated. “Contrary to what you may believe, this isn’t my first rodeo. I’ve had plenty of field experience, and plenty of injuries to go with it. If I had a concussion, I would know what signs to be wary of.”
“Let me see your eyes,” he demanded, as if he hadn’t heard me. He held a little flashlight, and I sighed. He shone the flashlight in my eyes and then sat back as he clicked it off. “You’re not concussed.”
“Which is what I already told you.”
Bucky pursed his lips. “You may think I’m overreacting and being overbearing,” he said, “but if you had been in this game as long as I have, you’d understand why I’m being like this. Back in the war, as a sergeant I led a firearms team of four men. If one of those men got injured, even something seemingly minor, it not only hindered the whole team, but the injury could also progress into something worse depending on the conditions we were in.” He frowned. “I lost good men to things as mundane as a broken finger or a cut on their leg. So if I’m taking the time to make sure your injuries are taken care of, it’s because I’ve seen things go downhill fast and I’m trying to get out of the habit of losing teammates.”
I blinked, at a loss for words. To say Bucky and I didn’t speak would be a lie – We talked quite a bit, but it was usually about missions or things Bucky was still trying to learn about the twenty-first century, or Steve. He had never once talked about his time in the 107th. I could tell now why he hadn’t; his eyes were hard, but held a heavy sadness in their depths. I bit my lip.
“I’m sorry I’m being so difficult,” I said softly. “I think it’s just the whole situation, and because I’m the newest member of the team and still so young, everyone just assumes that I don’t know as much, or I can’t handle myself and need to be looked out for. I just want to prove that I’m just as capable as the rest of you.”
Bucky’s lips twitched. “I have no doubt that you can take care of yourself, (Y/N), if need be,” he chuckled. “The point of being part of a team, though, is that you don’t have to. It’s great that you’re as independent as you are, but you don’t have to be.” He shook his head ruefully. “It took me a long time to relearn that after HYDRA.”
“Can I be honest about something?” I asked him, and he nodded.
           “Of course.”
“When that quinjet went down, I…I was grateful that it was you with me,” I admitted, and then I realized how that sounded and my eyes widened. “I just mean…Out of all our teammates, you’re the best in situations like this, and if anyone was going to get us through this, it’d be you.”
This time, Bucky actually smiled. “Is that…is that a compliment? From (Y/N)? My god, did we actually die in that crash? Or has hell frozen over?”
I pursed my lips, but my grin couldn’t be concealed. “Yeah, yeah, soak it up,” I told him, “because it’s probably the only one you’re getting for awhile. They come in short supply.”
Bucky laughed. “I’ll take it. Now come here and let me clean that cut on your forehead.”
I leaned forward, and Bucky took an alcohol-soaked cotton ball and dabbed gently at the wound. I sucked in a sharp breath and his hand stilled, but I urged him to keep going. Once it was clean, he applied a butterfly bandage with a delicate touch that was unexpected for hands as large as his. His fingertips smoothed down the bandage and then he sat back.
“Your turn,” I said, and Bucky’s brow furrowed.
“What do you mean, I’m fine.”
“That huge gash along your cheekbone says otherwise.”
Bucky frowned. “I heal quickly; it’ll be gone by morning.”
“James.” My voice was stern as I used his real name. He pursed his lips, and I continued. “It’s been how long since the quinjet crashed, and the wound is still deep enough that your layer of soft tissue is exposed. Supersoldier healing or not, it needs to be cleaned and at least covered.” I shot him a wry look. “Teammates take care of each other, remember?”
“Ouch, using my own lessons against me,” he mocked, and I grinned before soaking a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol and scooting to the edge of the couch to get closer to him. I lifted my good arm to dab gingerly at the open flesh, and Bucky sat there, unflinching, his eyes focused on me the entire time. A butterfly bandage wouldn’t suffice for a gash like this, so I applied a larger bandage to cover it and keep any dirt out until it at least started to heal.
“There,” I murmured, sitting back, and Bucky grinned.
“I’m gonna go find you some clean clothes,” he said, “and then why don’t you have a hot shower while I go outside and bring in some more firewood before it gets dark. I don’t know how long we’ll be here and I don’t want us to run out of wood.”
He disappeared down the hall to what I assumed was the bedroom, and returned a minute later with a pile of neatly-folded clothes in his hands. “They’ll likely be a bit big,” he said as he handed them to me, “but they’ll work. The water’s on, so the shower’s good to go. If you need anything, I won’t be far – The woodpile is just out back on the treeline there.”
“Alright, thank you,” I said, and he nodded before pulling his jacket on and ducking out the door. Sighing, I pulled myself up off the couch. My legs were still stiff and sore from trudging through the deep snow, but at least now I could stand without feeling like I would topple over. I made my way down the narrow hallway, where I found a quaint little bathroom. I turned on the water as hot as I could stand it, and then stripped bare and stepped under the stream.
I immediately moaned as the heat from the water seeped through my skin to warm my cold, aching muscles and bones. I stood like that for a few minutes, just enjoying the feeling of being enveloped in warmth, before I lathered shampoo into my hair to hopefully get the smell of smoke and jet fuel out of it. I scrubbed the blood and soot from my skin until it was pink, and then finally decided I should save some hot water for Bucky and dragged myself out of the shower reluctantly.
I wrapped a towel around my body as I wrung out my hair with another one. Upon examining the clothes Bucky had gotten me, I found a pair of black sweatpants and a wool sweater. I pulled on the sweatpants – They were too loose on my hips and a bit long, but I tied the drawstring tight and rolled up the cuffs and they were actually pretty comfy. I picked up the sweater, but then set it back down and opted to pull Bucky’s Henley back on instead.
When I came back out to the kitchen, Bucky was just coming through the door and stomping the snow off his boots, a sled piled high with firewood in tow. When he caught sight of me, the same unreadable look from before was crossing his face, but then he cocked an eyebrow.
“Are you wearing my shirt?” he asked. My cheeks heated, and I shrugged.
           “Maybe.”
“Did I not give you a sweater to wear?”
“Yeah, but this one’s comfy,” I said sheepishly, and Bucky snorted.
“I know it’s comfy, it’s mine.” He shook his head. “I guess you can keep it for now.”
I grinned. “Good, because I didn’t plan on giving it back.”
Bucky let out a chuckle, and then started filling his arms with firewood to stack by the fireplace. I went to help him, but he shook his head. “No, I’ve got it,” he insisted. “You just showered, you don’t need to get dirt and sap all over yourself.”
           “Bucky, let me help –”
“You’ll end up pulling your stitches if you do, (Y/N). Trust me, I’ve got it.”
I frowned, but I knew he was right. It didn’t take him long to pile it all, and then he was leaning the sled against the wall and stripping out of his jacket and boots.
“I’m gonna take a quick shower,” he told me. “The cupboards should be stocked with non-perishables; you should see if you can find us something to eat.”
“Anything in particular you don’t like?” I asked, and Bucky fixed me with an unexpected grin.
“Doll, I survived how many years on army rations,” he chuckled. “I’ll eat just about anything.”
With that, he went to shower and I was left to rummage through the cupboards. I was surprised to see so much – Cans of soup, canned fruits and vegetables, boxes of cereal, pasta, and an array of spices and sauces. I opted for a box of spaghetti and a jar of tomato sauce; it would be warm and filling.
As I filled a pot with water to boil, my stomach growled; with everything that had happened today, I realized that I hadn’t eaten since dinner the night before. It wasn’t unusual to go a period of time without a meal on a mission, but after that trek from the quinjet to the cabin I was famished.
Bucky walked into the kitchen just as I was mixing the sauce into the pasta. His wet hair was messy, as if he’d just run his hands through it, and he’d thrown on a plain black t-shirt and gray sweatpants. He lifted his nose to sniff the air.
           “Smells good,” he remarked. “Spaghetti?”
           “Yep.”
           “When will it be ready?”
“Now,” I replied, dishing it onto two plates and handing him one. We sat down at the table with our food and a couple of bottles of water I’d found in the fridge, and I couldn’t help the giggle that bubbled from my chest. Bucky cocked an eyebrow.
“What?” he asked, and I shrugged.
“I don’t know, this just feels so…domestic,” I pointed out. “You making a fire and bringing in more wood, me cooking us dinner, sitting here and eating together…”
“It’s nice,” Bucky murmured. “Everything is always so fast-paced and intense; this is a nice break.”
“Except that our jet was shot down and we’re stranded,” I said wryly, and Bucky shrugged.
“There are worse places to be.” He looked up over a forkful of spaghetti and grinned. “And worse company to be stuck with.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” I chuckled, and Bucky nodded as he chewed.
“You should. For instance, if I had been stranded with Sam, I would have buried him under six feet of snow and ice by now.”
I laughed. “Why is it you two are always at each other?” I asked, and Bucky shrugged.
“Sam’s a good guy. He just gets on my nerves easily.”
           “Clearly.”
We finished the rest of our dinner in comfortable silence, and then cleared the dishes. Bucky even helped me clean up the kitchen, and then I curled up in the armchair by the fireplace with a thick blanket while Bucky sank into the couch and pulled out his phone.
“I suppose now that we’re settled in, I should let Steve know what happened,” he said. He put the phone on speaker and then set it on the coffee table. It only rang once before Steve answered.
“Hello? Bucky? Is everything alright? Why are you using your cell phone, what’s wrong with your comms?”
“The comms are down, Steve,” Bucky said calmly.
“Down? Why are they down?” he demanded, and Bucky and I shared a look; Steve was going to lose it when he found out our quinjet had been shot down.
“See, that’s the thing,” Bucky said cautiously. “We may have a little problem.”
Steve’s voice was stern now. “Define little.”
“We were on our way to Russia when we were spotted by a HYDRA drone and they shot us out of the sky,” Bucky told him. There was silence on the other line for a split second before Steve erupted.
“What? How did that happen? Are you and (Y/N) alright? Where are you? How long ago did this happen? Why didn’t you call right away?”
“Steve…Steve!” Bucky cried, and I bit my lip to keep from laughing as Steve went full Dad mode, as Sam and I often called it. “I don’t know how they found us,” Bucky continued once Steve had ceased firing concerned questions. “(Y/N) and I are fine, just some cuts and bruises. The quinjet went down in the Allgӓu Alps in Austria, but we walked to a safehouse that was only about an hour away from the crash site. I didn’t call right away because we had to get to safety before HYDRA realized we’d survived, and then we wanted to warm up and patch up our injuries and settle in before we did anything else.”
“So you’re in Austria?” Steve asked.
           “Yes.”
“I didn’t know we had a safehouse in the mountains in Austria.”
“Natasha knows about it,” Bucky said. “She’ll know how to get here.”
For some reason, this made me frown. I found it strange that the only two people on the team that knew about this safehouse were Bucky and Natasha. Sam used to joke that they were perfect for each other, since they were both ex-assassins with rough pasts and secretive personalities. They had both sworn they weren’t each other’s type, but maybe that wasn’t entirely true. My mind was suddenly filled with the idea that they had been here together before, and for some reason it left a sour taste in my mouth.
“Steve, when can you get us out of here?” I asked.
“Well…I might have some bad news for you guys,” he said, and my brow furrowed.
           “What kind of bad news?”
“Nat just gave us the coordinates to the safehouse, and for starters, the closest place we could land a quinjet or even a helicopter is about six miles to the east.”
I sighed. The last thing I wanted was another hike across a snowy mountain, but if it meant I got to go home I could handle it.
“Okay, no biggie. So what’s the problem?”
Steve sighed. “Tony just checked the weather. There’s a big storm coming your way – Supposed to be the biggest blizzard Austria has seen in almost a decade. Even if we left New York right now, we’d never make it to you before the winds picked up. We won’t be able to fly out until the storm has passed, probably in a couple of days. I’m sorry, guys.”
My heart dropped to my stomach. I shook my head. “Steve, no –”
“Two days is fine,” Bucky interrupted as he spoke to Steve. “We’ve got plenty of firewood, and enough food to last probably two weeks. Take your time, Steve, we’re alright here for a few days. Don’t risk your lives when we’re safe where we’re at.”
“Speak for yourself,” I muttered under my breath, but of course Bucky’s supersoldier hearing caught it. A mixture of surprise, confusion and hurt crossed his face.
“Half an hour ago you were content,” he said. “What changed?”
My face heated, because I didn’t have an answer for him that didn’t sound ridiculous. I wasn’t even really sure what my problem was. I shook my head. “Nothing,” I told him, and then louder to Steve I said, “We’ll survive a couple of days, Steve. Be careful, but come as soon as it’s safe.”
“Hang in there,” he replied. “Hopefully the storm won’t last long and we can get you out of there.”
Bucky hung up the phone and slipped it back into his pocket. Things were silent for a few moments, but then he fixed me with an inquiring look.
“What was that about?” he asked. I frowned, feigning confusion.
           “What?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, (Y/N). Why are you so eager to get out of here?”
“I don’t know, Barnes; maybe after getting shot down out of the sky and trekking through a cold mountain, I just want to get home,” I snapped, a little harsher than I had intended. Bucky pursed his lips.
“Soon enough,” he muttered. “We should get some rest; it’s been a long day. You take the bed; I’ll sleep on the couch.”
I shook my head, suddenly feeling guilty. “Buck, you don’t have to sleep on the couch –”
“There’s only one bed, (Y/N). Just take it. I’ll be fine on the couch; that way I can keep the fire going all night.”
I bit my lip, but there was no use in arguing with him at this point. With a sigh, I unfolded my legs from under me and stood. “Goodnight,” I mumbled, and Bucky grunted a response. Frowning, I made my way down the hall to the bedroom, closing the door behind me.
I pulled back the covers and climbed in, pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the mattress was. The exhaustion of the day finally crashed over me, and all the thoughts of Bucky and being stuck in this cabin disappeared when my head hit the pillow and I fell asleep almost immediately.
Of course, my sleep was short-lived. I woke up an hour later, freezing despite still being fully-clothed and curled up under two layers of covers. I tried to pull the blankets tighter to myself and go back to sleep, but it was no use; the chill had already settled itself in me and wasn’t going to let go of me that easily.
With a groan, I forced myself out of the bed, swearing softly when my bare feet hit the cold hardwood floor. I padded my way down the hall to the living room to grab the blanket I’d been using earlier, to use as an extra layer of insulation between me and the chilly air.
Bucky was asleep when I walked in. Although it was a fairly big couch, his large frame still managed to make it look small. His head was pillowed on one of the decorative cushions, while the other cushion he held to his chest. His mouth was slightly ajar, soft breaths sounding with every rise and fall of his chest. I realized I had never seen him look so peaceful – so vulnerable and at ease. It almost made him look younger, the lines in his face erased in slumber. The fire, which now burned low in the hearth, left a warm glow across his face, casting shadows where his long lashes dusted his cheekbones, and I couldn’t help but think that he looked heartachingly beautiful like this.
I quickly tore my eyes away. This felt oddly wrong, almost like I was intruding on a private moment. He was only sleeping, but Bucky was such a reserved person that to see him in such a vulnerable state felt intrusive. I grabbed the blanket from the armchair and was just about to head back to the bedroom when Bucky spoke, making me start as the blanket slipped from my hands to the floor.
“Stealing blankets, are you,” he murmured, tone teasing and voice thick with sleep. He had just one eye open, peeking up at me. I wet my lips and shrugged.
“You weren’t using it, and I’m frozen,” I replied. “It’s a lot colder in the bedroom than it is out here, so I figured I’d grab an extra blanket to see if it helped.”
Bucky frowned, fully awake now, and he sat up. “You’re cold?” he asked, and I nodded.
“It’s fine, though. I’m sure the blanket will help.”
“Did you want to sleep by the fire? It’s warm out here,” Bucky insisted. “You can bring some blankets and pillows out here; it’s a pretty comfy couch. I’m warm anyway, so a cool room won’t bother me.”
I shook my head. “Really, it’s okay,” I insisted. “I’m sure I’ll be okay.”
“Okay,” Bucky murmured, although he looked doubtful. I gave him a small smile before heading back to the bedroom.
Incidentally, the extra blanket didn’t work. I shifted, even curling my body up tightly, but I still couldn’t shake the chill that had settled in my bones. I knew what the quickest and most effective solution would be, but even if I could bring myself to suggest it, there was a good chance it would either make Bucky uncomfortable or he’d laugh in my face.
“Fuck it,” I muttered to myself, throwing off the covers and once again sliding out of bed. I was just about to make my way back to the living room, but when I opened the bedroom door Bucky was already there, hand raised as if ready to knock. He gave me a sheepish look as he lowered it back to his side.
“I heard you tossing and turning,” he explained softly. “You still cold?”
           I nodded meekly. “Yeah.”
“Y’know, I was thinking,” Bucky said hesitantly, running a hand through his hair. “Because my body temperature is higher than the average person’s, it kind of acts like a heater. If you want – and you can absolutely say no if you don’t want to, I’ll totally understand – I…I can keep you warm.”
Bucky looked at me cautiously, and it took everything in me not to nod eagerly because this couldn’t have worked out more to my favour. I knew it was hard for him to be open like this, and to let people close; just a handful of months ago, he didn’t even like handshakes. Instead, I wordlessly opened the door wide enough for him to fit through and stepped aside.
Bucky walked into the room, hands awkwardly shoved into his pockets as I crawled back into bed. I arched a brow at him.
“I won’t bite,” I promised teasingly, and the ghost of a grin tugged at his lips as he slid into bed next to me.
I rolled onto my side, and I felt the mattress shift as Bucky got comfortable and pulled the covers up over us. Tentative, he draped his flesh arm over my waist.
“Is this okay?” he asked in a voice barely above a whisper.
Instinctively, my body scooted backwards closer to his – closer to the warmth he was radiating. “Mmm,” I hummed contentedly as I felt my own body slowly warming. Relaxing, Bucky’s arm tightened around my waist, hugging me tighter to him as my back pressed to his chest.
“Get some sleep, doll,” he murmured. My eyes were already drifting shut, and all I could manage was another hum before I was out.

Bonked Bones (For Anon!!)
I got a request for Wilbur angst with the prompt “Just… walk it off.” “I don’t think I can walk.” And I got you! But tumblr dont because your ask got eaten- but the story is here!!
The title was oringially a place holder but I can’t think of anything better so there
TW: non graphic depictions of violence and blood
Wilbur yelped as Tommy crashed into his chest, sending them both tumbling down the rocky hillside. Limbs slapping wildly against the ground as he tried to stop his descent. His shoulder connected with a rock and he hissed, that’d hurt in the morning.
He hit his chin on the ground a final time before landing roughly in the heap of foliage, he gasped when he heard something crack.
After taking a moment to collect himself he pushed himself up onto his forearms, he tried to stand up only to cry out as dull throbbing turned to fire flooding his leg, he collapsed back onto the ground. He could hear Tommy groaning loudly a few feet away.
Wilbur knew he needed to get up, he had too, but even moving his leg hurt.
“Wil- Wilbur,” He heard Tommy mumble, “Get up, we need to keep moving.”
“Yeah just give me a minute,” Wilbur said, not moving. Leaves crunched as Tommy walked over to him.
“We gotta go Wilbur, those assholes can’t be too far behind.”
“Hang on Tommy, I fucked up my leg.” Wilbur grumbled rolling over only for it to send a shockwave of agony shooting up his leg.
Tommy put out his hand, eyes flickering nervously behind him, “Wilbur- come on man- just-just walk it off, we gotta,” He laughed nervously, “We gotta go.”
“Tommy I- I can’t move my leg.” He managed to sit up and get a better look at his leg. Nausea rose in his gut, his knee twisted backwards, pant leg torn with blood splattering his skin and the ground around him.
Tommy looked at his leg and gasped, “Wilbur- no no no it's okay-”
“Tommy I won’t be able to walk!” Wilbur interrupted.
“I’ll find something to drag you along with- it’ll be okay- let me just look around for a minute-” Tommy started to search but Wilbur grabbed his pant leg.
“Tommy no, go without me, you have to get this stuff back to the base.” He pulled the satchel off his shoulder and shoved it at Tommy.
“What no! I’m not leaving you here!” Tommy snapped back incredulously, “Those monsters will tear you apart!” Wilbur shook his head.
“I’ll hide, it’ll be fine-”
“No it won’t! You’re coming with me!”
“Tommy I can’t walk! Just leave me and take the medicine back to the base! That’s an order!” Wilbur snapped.
Tommy glared at him, shouldering the bag. “I don’t have to take orders from you.” He grabbed Wilbur’s hand and yanked him up, manuring him so Tommy could wrap an arm around his waist, he put Wilbur’s arm across his shoulder.
“I’m not leaving you behind.” He said sharply, Wilbur tried to pull away.
“Tommy go! I will only slow you down-”
“I am not leaving you!” Tommy snapped, “Just shut up! I am not leaving you behind! No matter how much you struggle or bitch I am not leaving you so shut up and focus on walking!”
Tommy didn’t wait for an answer and started guiding them along. Wilbur tried his best to not put any pressure on his leg but also not weigh Tommy down. It did not work.
Every step was hell.
His leg would bump against the ground or they would stumble and fall and Wilbur would consider laying down and letting the earth consume him was a better use of his time.
Sweat beaded against his forehead as he trudged forwards, his limbs felt like they were made of steel, he could feel blood dripping from his bashed leg.
“There we go, come on Wilbur, just a little farther.” Tommy laughed weakly, Wilbur could tell he was straining himself. “We just have to make it to the river and we are home free.”
Wilbur could hear the rushing howls of the river, hope sparking in his chest he started hobbling faster, they were going to make it.
Then he heard hooves pounding behind him and his heart dropped. Against his better judgement Wilbur looked behind him and saw a herd of gang members on horses quickly catching up to them.
He swore under his breath, trying to speed up only to cause further agony in his leg.
They managed to get to the river, sliding down the muddy banks Wilbur realized they were screwed. It was storm season and the water high and rough, thundering against the rocks and through the land.
Wilbur pulled away from Tommy.
“Tommy leave me, get across the river, I’ll be okay-”
“No! We just fought about this-”
“Tommy! That stupid gang is going to be on us in minutes and everything we have worked for will be for nothing if you don’t move your fucking ass! I’ll distract them while you get to the rocks, hopefully you’ll be able to make it across- what the hell are you doing?” Wilbur saw Tommy taking bags and after making sure they were closed he wrapped the straps around them, securing them even more.
He pulled back, swung around then launched the bags across the river. They landed on the grass on the other side, missing the mud entirely, Tommy turned to face him.
“I’m not leaving you, at least now those assholes can’t get the medicine. Hopefully Techno or Phil will find the bags.” He jumped in front of Wilbur, getting into a fighting stance as the gang drew near. They stopped a few feet away, five men armed to the teeth stared down at them, a feisty kid with too much heart and a failing older brother with a busted knee.
“Where is the medicine?” One man asked, drawing his sword.
For once Tommy didn’t respond, he just stared the man down.
“Where is the medicine, you thieves.” The man repeated.
“Gone.” Tommy said, somewhat smuggly, “And we can’t steal what belongs to us you dumbass.”
“Smartass,” The man grumbled, Wilbur mentally nicknamed him Pushy. Pushy sheathed his sword, “Grab em, they could be good bartering chips.”
The other men rushed forward, grabbing at them, Tommy managed to punch one across the face before he was slammed into the ground.
“Let go of me you stupid son of a bitch! Give me a fair fight! I’ll kick your ass!”
Two men came at Wilbur, easily managing to pin his arms behind him, securing them with rope. He watched the men shove Tommy’s face into the ground as he thrashed, trying to resist their attempts to tie him.
“Hey! Go easy on him! He’s just a kid!”
“Just a kid!” Tommy tried to yell, “That’s it, I’m gonna kick the shit out of all of you- let me up!”
“Both are so noisy.” Pushy said, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“You’re wasting your time,” Wilbur hissed as he was shoved forwards, “We mean nothing to them- the group- they won’t trade for us.” He lied, he knew that at least Tommy was important and if he could get the men to leave them Tommy would be able to get the medicine back for the group.
Pushy leaned over and grabbed the front of his shirt, “Do you think I’m stupid? I’ve seen you with that freak ass angel type-”
Wilbur threw his head back and headbutted him, “He is not a freak!” Pushy howled and let go of his shirt, Wilbur stumbled back, smiling, served that bastard right.
Pushy whipped around and shoved Wilbur to the ground then smashed his heel into Wilbur’s injured knee. Wilbur screamed, vision going white as what he could only describe as hellfire ripped through his body.
Panting hard, his vision cleared slighty and he saw Pushy looming over him, gaze hard.
“That’ll fucking teach you-” He was cut off as an arrow pierced his collarbone and he fell to his kness, gasping.
With blurring vision Wilbur looked up to see gray wings covering the sky.
He heard cries of fear, hooves nervously pattering against the grass, Tommy yell ‘The Blade!’ and felt soft hands on his shoulders. Things started to get fuzzy, he felt like he was in the air before being laid against someone’s chest, head on their shoulder.
Thundering hooves were muffled in the background as Wilbur’s head bobbed roughly, face itching as soft hair tickled it. He slowly slipped away, hardly hearing the soft murmur, “Stay with me Wilbur, stay with me.”
When Wilbur’s eyes cracked open the first thing he noticed
was how fucking big his tonuge felt. The second thing he noticed, well technically two things, were Tommy’s head resting on one of his arms and Techno’s hand lightly gripping his other.
Looking around he realized he was in infirmary in their base and that there was a thick, bulky cast on his leg. Tommy was on his right, Phil and Techno on his left, both of his younger brothers were passed out, but Phil wasn’t.
Wilbur started at him until Phil looked up and smiled softly, leaning over to mess with his hair. “Wil, you are a fucking idiot but you did it. Good job buddy.”
Wilbur leaned into the touch, unable to reach back with both of his hands occupied, and closed his eyes. The journey fucking sucked but, this, this part was okay.

Drug Cartels (Part 2)
Tumblr media
Lionel Luthor wasn't the only one with a family. Your father (Y/F/N) found your mother around the same time that Lionel found his future wife. (Y/F/N) went on a small vacation in Europe before going back to Mexico to deal with the drug business. Your mother and father hit off quickly and continued to pursue this relationship. Your parents never got officially married but in the eyes of their cartel family, it looked like they were. Ever since you were born, Los Reyes Alfa Cartel was always there for you. Despite not being connected by blood, they were highly considered your family.
Your parents and you made so many connections and each member treated you as their own daughter too. Although your parents are drug lords, they never really used their power to scare people unless they were disloyal or a danger to the community. Your father was the iron fist while your mother represented the caring hands. It was perfect.
People who work for Los Reyes Alfa were well taken care of. Children felt safe within the cartel and they were able to go to school without any financial issues due to the cartel providing. The elderly were watched over and the poor were not so poor. Los Reyes Alfa were never selfish or greedy about the money they make. They rather give it away to those who need it then keeping it all to themselves.
When you turned 24, your parents handed over the power to you. They no longer wanted to be part of it due to them being highly wanted from the feds and that they wanted to live the rest of their lives in peace. You didn’t mind the transition of power and your parents trained you ever since you were a kid.
They went into hiding after they sent out their condolences to Lionel Luthor. You personally haven’t met the Luthors but your parents did tell you that Lionel is a very close friend to your father and that our cartel groups shouldn’t clash. Not until Lex Luthor decided to declare war against your cartel family.
“Jefe! ¿Escuchaste? La hermana de Lex se escapó de su cartel.
(Boss! Did you hear? Lex’s sister ran away from her cartel.)
A short woman came in the room while you were on the balcony in one of the many homes you  own, watching the oceanside view. It was your area of peace to just watch the sun rise and set whenever you want to relax.
“Lo dice en serio? (Are you serious?). Maggie, go send out some people to find the woman. Maybe her bastard brother and I can make a deal.”
Maggie Sawyer is one of your closest members of the cartel to you but before she started working for Los Reyes Alfa, your parents rescued her when she was 16 years-old from her abusive father. She was abused for being gay and that she was a disgraced to her own family. Your parents caught the drunken father beating Maggie in public. Your mother was horrified that the father was beating his child based on a stupid reason so your father took action and shot the man at blank point. They left the man to bleed on the dirt streets of where Maggie used to live, an example of what it looks like to beat your children for no just reason.
Your parents took Maggie away and introduced you to her. You became close like sisters and helped find a new family that was willing to accept who she is. It wasn’t long until Kara and Alex Danvers also joined the cartel. They were willing to join after their parents were murdered by James Olsen’s cartel. The Danvers sisters could not support themselves after the devastating loss. Alex dropped out of medical school and Kara quit being a reporter due to not making enough money.
Your parents and you took good care of the girls. There are times where you all fought but made up. What made this little group interesting is that all of you came out gay and you were all proud becuase no one can say shit about it. If they did, people better hope you come back home in a body bag instead of being found in the river or hanging in public.
***
6 months later
Lena Luthor, now known as Kieran Lee, is found hanging out in a nightclub. Lena just got off work from a small business pharmacy not too far from where she lives. Lena was able to find a place where it was not Luthor Cartel territory but in Los Reyes Alfa grounds. She was worried that one of Lex’s men would find her but nobody came for months. No talks were going around if the raven-haired woman was seen in these grounds. It made her worry but soon she was got comfortable.
Lena from time to time, keeps track of what the Luthor Cartel were doing, only to find out that Lex is murdering more people each week for not obeying his power. Although his men are out there killing and stealing, Lex is increasing his wealth. He was able to smuggle more drugs than their late father ever did before.
The raven-haired tries to ignore her brother’s actions but it was difficult. She wants to do something about it but she doesn't know how. She wishes she had her own cartel of her own, send out orders to stop his reign but also help out the poor and weak. The least she could do is keep working in the small pharmacy with an old couple who owns it, she was able to help sick children and eldry. Lena would pay some of the medications with her leftover money for those who really need it. Sometimes, if she has the right chemicals and powders, she would make her own meds in her apartment space and give them for free.
Tonight, Lena wants to feel numb. She plans to just drink a few drinks and socialize to make connections. Helpful connections at least.
“Hermosa chica! Come and dance!” A random male has been trying to make moves on Lena. She wasn’t having any of it. Whenever she comes to this nightclub, a guy would try to flirt with the green eyed beauty. Tonight, he takes a chance and grabs Lena by the arm to force the woman to dance with him.
“Let go of me!” Lena tries to break free but the man just grins and gropes her ass. The man’s glory moment didn’t last long and ended up being pushed to the floor by another figure. A blonde above the injured drunken man with her back facing Lena.
“Ya know. It’s not nice to manhandle a woman, amigo. Women won’t like that. When she says no. . .” The blonde kicks the man between his legs and screams out his pain. “That’s what happens.”
Everyone around looks at them but quickly ignores the situation. Another male came in to help the crippled guy on the floor and walked away.
“Are you okay?” The blonde asks Lena who just can’t believe what just happened in front of her. Her emerald green eyes met the blue eyes, she was a bit lost. She took a quick minute to study the blonde’s strong looking figure.
“Mhm. So may I have the name of my savior?” Lena plans to get laid tonight.
The blue eyes chuckled, “Kara Danvers.”
“Kieran Lee.” They shook hands and exchanged flirty smiles.
“Can I buy you another drink, Kieran?”
Lena didn’t turn down a free drink which turned out to be many more. The raven haired lost track of time and how many drinks she had. She was feeling free and relaxed. The two women danced on one another, not caring how scandalous it was looking.
“Let’s go somewhere private, yeah?” Kara says into Lena’s ear while she pulls her in very close to her body.
The two stumbled into one of the dark areas of the nightclub, they shared rush heated kisses until Lena felt a prick on her neck. Those are not teeth, Lena quickly thought.
She sees that Kara is holding a needle in her hand and that her steel blue eyes focused on Lena’s reaction to the injection. Lena suddenly felt dizzy and the sounds around her were sounding farther by the second.
“Nothing personal, hermosa.” The blonde finally says when Lena eyes slowly closes and starts to fall forward. A short red head woman came quickly to Kara’s side to help carry the raven haired.
“That was easy but you took a while. We need to leave now before Boss loses her patience.” The red haired tells Kara.
“I can’t just prick her, Alex! She needed to feel comfortable with me first.” Kara says back to her sister.
“Whatever. Maggie is waiting outside. . Let’s go..”
Kara easily carried Lena in her arms and Alex guided the way out to the car. The three went inside the back of the black Jeep Wrangler, placing Lena between the Danver sisters.
“She looks like a hot mess.” Maggie looks at the unconscious woman.
“Apparently, Kara wanted to have a little fun.” Alex comments and Kara just shrugs.
They drove off and made their way back to the base. Another black Jeep followed closely behind them.
“Is someone following us?” Alex questions the driver.
“They’re one of ours. (Y/N) was kind enough to send back up just in case Lex’s men found Lena before us.” Maggie answers.
“I’m guessing Winn and Mike are in that car?” Kara looks behind to see if she can see the faces in the car.
“Yup!”
The group is glad that the kidnapping went perfectly fine. They didn’t need to harm anyone in the club but the drive back home is going to take a while. They have 3 hours to drive back to their destination.
***
“You lost my sister?!” Lex yells at the two men in front him.
They didn’t know what to say. Maxwell Lord was still suffering the pain between his legs and hopes the ice is helping him recover. John Corben was planning to go back to grab the raven haired but she was with the blonde the whole time. It made it difficult to go and grab the missing Luthor sibling.
“We couldn’t get her alone. She was drinking with this blonde the whole time. Then we lost the two of them in the club. Maybe the blonde took her home but we’re close to finding your sister’s apartment for more clues.”
“Well why are you still here! Go! You’re wasting my fucking time.” Lex yells at them again.
I’ll find you Lena. One way or another. Lex says to himself.

Summer Of Whump Day 30[Crying/Lashing Out]
Tumblr media
Reunited at last!
Omega leaned against a tree, her injured leg lifted off the ground slightly. Despite the pain that radiated from various points on her body, she was buzzing with excitement. Today was the day that they were going to meet up with the rest of the Bad Batch and Rex!
They were just getting ready to leave, Crosshair going off to hunt something down so that they had extra provisions. Cal was laying down in the soft grass, rays of sunlight shining down on him as he slept. Omega felt a flicker of sadness go through her when she realized that Pillow was missing out on enjoying the planet’s nice warm environment.
Crosshair had explained that Pillow, for some unexplainable reason, had cocooned himself in crystal. Omega hadn’t believed him at first, but the older clone had carried her back to the ship so that she could see it for herself. She’d spent the better part of half an hour just talking to the hunk of crystal, hoping that Pillow could hear her in there. She couldn’t sense him in the Force, which upset her. Crosshair said that he wouldn’t be in there for very long, but she could tell that he’d only said that to make her feel better. Truth was, nobody knew how long Pillow would be stuck in the shining purple chunk of rock.
Omega could only hope that he was okay in there.
 “Hey.”
Omega turned her head, surprised at who she saw.
Chex shifted nervously, his arm resting in a sling. He looked like he had just rolled out of bed, his hair messy and his eyes still holding the remnants of sleep. He looked the way she felt, the two of them having just recently recovered from their fevers. She tilted her head slightly, not exactly sure why he had approached her.
“I just,” He scratched the back of his neck with his free hand, “I wanted to say… that I’m sorry. I was angry and hurting, but that was no excuse to act the way that I did. You’re actually really cool.”
Omega felt his sincerity and guilt through the Force, and she gave him a half smile.
“Thanks. You were pretty cool too, taking on that creature by yourself.” She replied. “Just try to avoid swinging that lightsaber at me, and we’ll be good.”
Chex flushed red in embarrassment. “Yeah, that was one of my stupider moments.”
 “Yes, it was.”
Chex whirled, gulping when he saw Crosshair standing behind him. The clone glowered at him, his golden-brown eyes narrowing dangerously. A large, furry beast was draped over his shoulder, a trickle of blood dripping down his armored chest. Omega stifled a laugh at the way the padawan visibly seemed to shrink, his shoulders hunching as he tried to make himself seem as small and nonthreatening as possible.
“So, you’re the one that attacked my adiik.” He growled, and it was as if a thunderstorm had formed inside his chest.
“Uhhh…” Chex squeaked, somehow becoming even smaller.
“Crosshair, I think you’re going to give him a heart attack.” Omega giggled.
“Good.” Crosshair rumbled, still making direct eye contact with the cowering teen.
Omega rolled her eyes and gave Chex a little shove, causing him to snap out of his terror-induced paralysis and dash away as fast as possible.
Omega couldn’t hold it in anymore. She burst out laughing, her throat still a bit rough from her illness. She wiped at her eyes as Crosshair continued to glare at the retreating padawan, a toothpick clenched in his teeth.
“You should have left him to cower, it was amusing.” He grumbled, giving her a small smile.
“Cal’s gonna be so mad! He wanted to see you do that.” Omega wheezed.
“He should have stayed awake, then.” He said simply. “Come on, let’s get going.”
She waits until Crosshair has woken Cal up before she moves. She limped forward, accepting Crosshair’s arm when he offers it. She knows that, if she asks, he’ll carry her back to the ship, but she wants to try and do it herself. She’s tired of feeling weak.
Together, the trio made their way back to the ship. Crosshair threw his catch into the cold storage while Cal and Omega strapped in. Omega claimed the co-pilot’s seat, and Cal didn’t have the heart to fight her for the prized seat while she was injured. Resigning himself to a seat farther back, he curled up and went back to sleep, trying to ignore the throbbing pain in his chest.
“Ready?” Crosshair asked, sliding into the pilot’s seat.
 “Ready!” Omega replied enthusiastically.
Crosshair stared out the windshield with a determined look on his face.
 “Then let’s go home.”
Hunter paced back and forth, stopping every thirty seconds to listen for the sound of approaching footsteps. He stared out at the open sky, wishing that his sight was as good as his hearing so that he could see if a ship was coming in. Upon seeing nothing and hearing nothing, he resumed his pacing.
“Hunter, for the love of the Maker, please stop pacing!” Echo groaned, shooting Hunter an annoyed look. “Walking back and forth isn’t going to make them arrive any sooner.”
Hunter huffed, crossing his arms. “They should have been here by now. What if something went wrong? What if Crosshair’s chip activated again?”
“It’s been an hour since we got here. Give them some time.” Tech said, but Hunter didn’t miss the way his eyes flicked towards the sky.
“Ugh, we’ve given them time.” Wrecker, who had been laying on the floor lifting boxes, sat up. “I say we go lookin’ for ‘em.”
“That could draw unnecessary attention to ourselves. We’re staying put.” Rex replied.
Hunter opened his mouth to argue, but stopped when a new sound reached his ears.
Footsteps. One set was steady and calm, one was hesitant, and the other was uneven, like the person was limping. He turned his head, staring directly at the doorway.
“Someone’s coming. A few someones.” He said in a hushed voice. Hope made his heart rate pick up, but he also knew to be cautious. There was always the possibility that whoever was coming down the hall wasn’t friendly.
The group rallied around them, and the air was thick with tension. Hands rested on blasters as the footsteps became audible to everyone.
 They waited.
There was silence for a moment, the approaching people pausing, hesitant to enter the room. Then, a familiar mop of blonde hair appeared from around the corner. Soft, honey-brown eyes locked onto them, and Omega’s star-bright grin lit up the space around them.
“Omega!” The Bad Batch yelled, running over to her. She had barely stepped forward when Hunter reached her, scooping her up into a tight hug, ever careful not to touch her scarring burns.
Omega’s face disappeared into Hunter’s neck, her own smooth skin brushing up against his stubble. The scent of damp earth and clean rainfall fills his senses, and Hunter takes a moment to absorb it, to take comfort from the fact that their ad’ika is back in his arms and that she’s alive and okay. Her limbs shake as she wraps her arms around his neck, almost choking him with how tightly she’s holding on. He doesn’t care. Omega is back, and that’s what matters.
But she’s not the only family member that has returned to them today.
Still holding onto Omega, he opens his eyes to see Crosshair standing in the door frame. His vod looks… tired. The skin beneath his eyes is dark, and in his cognac brown eyes Hunter sees a frightening mix of bone-deep exhaustion, deep-seeded guilt, and wavering fear, like he doesn’t know if Hunter is going to hug him or strike him.
“C’mere, Cross’ika.” The nickname is one that he hasn’t used since their early days of life, but it still rolls off his tongue like smooth honey.
Crosshair stiffens at the name, and Hunter can practically see the shock going through his mind. He hesitantly steps closer, still uncertain of Hunter’s intentions. Once he’s close enough, Hunter grabs his younger brother and pulls him into his chest, wrapping an arm around his back. He shifts Omega in his arm so that she’s still sitting comfortably while he holds Crosshair as close as he can.
Before Crosshair could even register the sensation of being pulled into a hug, their other vode joined in, practically smothering Omega and Crosshair with affection. Tech wiggled his way close to Hunter’s side, throwing his arms around Crosshair and tucking his face into his shoulder. Echo was closer to Omega, eagerly offering the now teary-eyed girl a hug when she spotted him. And Wrecker? Well, Wrecker used his enhanced size to hug them all.
Crosshair blinked, the weight of his vode bringing back fuzz-tinted memories of days long gone. He blinked again, feeling the unfamiliar sting of tears prick at the edges of his eyes. He took in a shuddering breath, the fear of rejection slowly bleeding out of him.
“Welcome back, vod.” It was Echo’s voice this time, kind and heavy with relief.
“’s good to be back.” He whispered, resting his chin on Hunter’s shoulder.
Suddenly, there’s a noise. A shifting of feet on a metal floor makes Crosshair pull back, remembering that it wasn’t just him and Omega that had walked down the hall.
“Cal,” He called, turning back towards the doorway. “come on out, ad’ika.”
The Batch and Rex, who had come over once he’d realized that someone hadn’t revealed themself yet, peered curiously towards the doorway. Hunter could hear a small heartbeat increase as the hidden figure slowly poked his head out of the shadows. Startlingly green eyes broke the pattern of light browns, the boy glancing nervously at the group. He shuffled in place, looking like he wanted to bolt.
They stared at him, he stared at them. All was silent.
“Is that the kid you stole?”
 “TECH!”
The kid’s face crinkled with amusement when Crosshair smacked Tech upside the head, scowling at him.
“Yeah, I’m his stolen Jedi kid. Took me out of my jail cell right as I was getting comfortable.” He joked, laughing when Crosshair lightly smacked him on the head.
“Shush, you little womp rat. If you were stolen by anyone, it was that Jedi.”
 “She would’a gave us back.”
“Debatable. You and Omega are very likeable.”
Wrecker laughed at the conversation. “Aw, Crossy’s gone soft.”
“Wrecker.” Crosshair warned, bristling at the nickname.
“Crossy?!” Cal, Rex, and Omega asked, trying not to laugh.
“Do not call me that!” Crosshair snapped, his cheeks burning red.
“Softie Crossy! Softy Cros- hurk!” Wrecker started to tease, but was cut off when Crosshair gave him a hard shove. The second-oldest clone let out a playful yell and pulled Crosshair down, wrestling with him on the floor.
“Ori’vod, help me out!” Wrecker yelled, trying to wrangle Crosshair. The younger clone was too slippery, however, and Crosshair soon managed to wrap his legs around Wrecker’s neck, squeezing just enough to cut off most of his airflow.
Hunter laughed, an actual, full-belly laugh. It had been years since he’d done that!
“Tech, here,” He said, passing a giggling Omega off to his youngest brother, “hold this.”
Tech accepted the armful of child, smiling at her and planting a kiss on her forehead. She leaned into him, tucking herself under his chin.
“Hello, sarad’ika.” He said softly, taking a moment to fully realize the fact that Omega was back, that his inability to protect her hadn’t ended in her demise. “Gar cuyir bid kotir, ad'ika.”
“Tech,” She whined, wiggling a bit to get comfortable,“I don’t know what that means. You guys need to teach me whatever language you’re speaking.”
“We will, little one. I was just saying that you’re very brave, even when you were faced with a terrible situation.” Tech said, giving her an apologetic look. “I’m so sorry that I couldn’t keep you safe when you needed me to.”
“It’s okay, Tech. I’m actually glad I got caught. Otherwise, I never would have met Cal.” She said, looking towards the redhead. He was cheering Crosshair on, Echo carefully watching to make sure he didn’t accidentally get dragged into the playful brawl.
“Ah yes, our surprise addition.” Tech said, turning to look as well. “We’re going to have to build a new bunk.”
“Me and him can sleep on Crosshair’s ship.” Omega said.
Tech tightened his hold, almost looking distressed at her suggestion. “No. You aren’t allowed to leave our sight, not again. We can leave that Imperial scrapheap here.”
“No we can’t! Pillow’s still in his weird cocoon thing.” Omega protested.
 “A… cocoon?” Tech questioned.
“Yeah. He put himself into a big crystal!” She said, spreading her arms out as if to emphasize how large the object was.
“An amphibian creating a cocoon is bizarre, but a crystalline one? That’s unheard of.” Tech muttered. “I need to analyze it. Would you like to come with me, or stay here?”
“Stay with you.” Omega said, tucking herself back underneath Tech’s chin. She didn’t want to be put down, didn’t want to be without contact right now. The Force sang happily around her, pleased by her reuniting with her family.
Tech chuckled and adjusted her so that he was holding her with one arm.
“Very well then, let’s go see our crystallized friend.”

The school bell rang. All the kids packed up their things and got into a line to walk out the school to their parents. You were told to always take the back of the line, that way when all the other kids walked out the door to meet their parents, you could break off and run down to the teacher’s cafeteria. You’d stand outside the door and fifteen minutes later your father would arrive, usually with another two teachers in tow. Everyday you’d see him round the corner then drop your bag and sprint your little legs down to him. He’d pick you up in his arms and place a big kiss on your cheek.
“How was your day princess? Did you give Janet a hard time?” he’d ask, to which you’d always shake your head no. He’d smile at you before placing you back on the ground, then you’d run back to your bag and your father would bring you back to his classroom where he taught other kids. He’d correct work for a bit while you did your homework, usually at a desk far too big for you but it was still easier then the kitchen table.
After you had finished your homework your father would let you pull out pencils and paper and draw until either he had finished his corrections or it was time to go. It was 1985 and you were strapped into the backseat of your father’s car with ‘Out Of Touch’ on the radio. You were six years old and living the high life in the back of your daddy’s car on the way to your suburban house where your mom was cooking pasta for dinner after a long-shift at 7/11.
You woke up when the light hit your eyes, stirring you from the peaceful childhood dream of speeding down the country rode while The Bangles sang out. You were lying on a hard bed in what looked like a med-bay made out of an office. Realisationed hit you like a truck that this was the Sanctuary and you shot up, immediately regretting it when everything started to hurt.
“Woah Woah, easy.” A man chided as he jumped to your side, grabbing you by the shoulders to stop you from getting out of the bed. You yelled at him to get off you as you swung at him, sending him backwards. In a moment another two were on you, a man and a woman.
“Tie her before she pulls out her IV!” the woman yelled. The first man stood up and began strapping you in using broad leather straps while the other two put their weight on you.
You struggled as best you could, still exhausted and something heavy on your leg. “Let. me. Out!” you yelled as you pushed against the bonds.
“Get Daryl” one of the women commanded, the second man running out. “Try not to pull that IV out. We can’t patch you up if you do.” she commented, walking around to tend to the man you punched. At this angle you could see the four barred tattoos on her neck. You recognised her, but it seemed she didn’t recognise you. Or at least wasn’t saying anything.
“What are you gonna do to me?” you asked, trying to hide your fear. The man glared at you from where he sat on another hospital bed, his eye turning bruised.
“Nothing.” The woman commented. “Bosses orders” the man scoffed at that, earning a slap to his chest by the woman.
“What? You actually think Daryl is the boss. Negan had him putting dead ones on the fence! He should still be doing that!” the woman punched him in the chest
“Knock it off,” she chided “Unless you wanna get punished”
“He doesn’t do that shit” the man grumbled.
“Do you wanna be the reason he starts doing it?” You couldn’t help but laugh. Maybe it was your nerves at the situation but their banter was completely unexpected. She turned around and looked at your tied down giggling figure. “What’s so funny!?”
“You sound like his mom” you turned your head to look at them as you spoke, a smile on your face.
“She bitches like the old hag too” the man chirped, earning a more playful slap from the woman. This was good, the tension was being lifted if only slightly.
“Sorry for punching you. New surroundings, ya know.” you piped up, hoping to take advantage of the tension drop.
“Yea well, you're not getting out of those belts” the man retorted, nodding towards the binds
“That’s fair” you sigh. Looks like you’ll need a new plan. Maybe some info, but you’d have to give a little to get a little “So are you gonna kill me? Like your friends tried to”
“What you mean?” The man asked
“Couple of people broke into my safe house, said they were saviours and they were gonna kill me to save their friends.” you stared at the ceiling, trying to feign complete helplessness. “Are you with them?”
“No, but-” the woman shushed him again, but that did nothing to deter the man. “We used to be, then a war happened and our boss got locked up and they put an outsider in to look over us”
‘Locked up?’ you thought ‘so he’s not dead.’ you bit your tongue to contain your happiness. “I can’t say I’m sorry” you said after a beat, “So...I’m gonna live?” you looked at them with intentionally wide eyes. The woman looked pissed, but she nodded. You breathed a sigh of relief and closed your eyes. A beat or two later the man returned with Daryl and a grey-hair woman in tow.
“Get those off her!” Daryl ordered.
“It’s okay” you interjected. “I punched your friend there. Kinda earned this”
“Nah” the first man perked up “If I had been jumped then woke up in a strange place I’d have acted out too,” he moved over and started opening the belts, Daryl working on the others. You slowly pulled yourself up, Daryl jumping to your side to help you into a sitting position.
“You alright?” Daryl asked. You looked over now realising your palms were bandaged and your leg was in a splint. You reached up to your aching head and felt a bandage with your fingers.
“I’ve been better” you spoke low, still in a great deal of pain.
“What happened?” the grey haired woman asked. You spun a story of a bunch of people claiming to be saviours who entered your apartment with the plan of ambushing and killing Daryl, how you burned down the apartment and jumped out the window for your escape. The grey haired woman listened to you with growing worry on her face. “Did you kill them all?” she pushed
“I don’t know.” you admitted
“What do you mean you dont know!” she snapped
“Carol-” Daryl started
“No, if there’s people out there claiming to be saviours and hurting people then we’re gonna look bad in front of the other settlements.” Carol snapped back.
“She’s right,” the messenger added. “We’ll have to do something.”
“These were our brothers” the punched man spoke out “We can’t just kill them.”
“They didn’t give us a choice” Daryl snapped. “Y/N barely got out alive and she’s been living out there for months. What if they get someone who can’t hold their own!” he went to storm out but you reached out of the bed and grabbed his arm, yelling out in pain at the strain.
“Don’t” you warned, after Daryl and the woman helped you back into the bed. “If they’re still there then they’re barricaded and have significant advantage.”
“Well what do you purpose we do?” Carol asked. Your breath was getting heavy.
“Anybody got a map of DC? And maybe a pencil”
The original messenger boy got you a map and a pen. You marked out where your apartment had been, as well as some buildings that had fallen apart with age. “They said they were watching me, which means they could be in any of these” you marked around the stable buildings that could make for a hide, which was surprisingly few. “This is my hideout in city centre” you said marking the building
“You never mentioned another safe house.” Daryl spoke up, you smirked
“A girl needs her secrets.” you handed the pen to Daryl “What route did you take to my place?” he lined in his route.
“What if they’re farther?” Carol asked.
“They’re not.” you spoke firmly “They were watching me for long enough they knew when Daryl wouldn’t be around which means they made their place comfortable, and I bet a couple of them got injured in the fire, meaning they’re gonna have to lay low and patch themselves up,” You explained. Your body finally gave way and you fell back on the pillows. The woman jumped to your help, telling the others to go. She made you comfortable in the bed, you drifting off to sleep again not long after.
“How’d you know they’re there?” she asked later that evening when you were awake, eating some acorn mush, “How are you sure?”
You could sense she was worried. “I was in the military before all this” you answered. “Our job was to sneak into enemy territory to help our fellow soldiers or civilians. We used to make maps like that, using where our friends got attacked as a central point to where the enemy could be hiding” she nodded as you explained, though still visibly nervous. “They’ll be fine” you tried to reassure her. “If they’re not nearby, they’ll have to get through hordes of walkers before they’ll be somewhere safe. You’re friends will get them”
She seemed to be reassured, If only a little. “You know I’m meant to be looking after you,” she breathed out, a tear sneaking over her cheek. She wiped it away before it could fall. “I’m Laura, by the way”
“I’m Y/N”
The following morning they all returned, with the exception of Daryl. “You were right” Laura informed you. The ‘saviours’ were held up barely a block away and now they were dead.
“Where’s Daryl?” You asked when Carol visited you.
“He took off for Alexandria” Carol replied. “I’m in charge now.”
“Oh” you spoke, clearly disappointed. Carol ordered Laura to leave, putting you on high alert. She pulled up a chair and looked you in the eyes with a dead stare.
“What is your relationship with Daryl?” she asked bluntly. You cocked an eyebrow at her.
“I’m gonna need you to elaborate so I can give you an answer you’d be happy with, Carol.” you replied helpless from the bed. She knew you couldn’t run, yet she was putting on this show of bravado? She seemed to accept your request though.
“Up until three days ago we didn’t know Daryl had a secret lady hiding in the city. We want to make sure Daryl isn’t keeping secrets that can hurt us.” she spoke a little more relaxed now, but still direct. She reminded you of your mother in a way, whenever she noticed a cookie was missing, or later in life, her vodka had been replaced with water.
“So Rick, Carl, or Tara hadn’t mentioned me either?” those names spurred on some recognition. “Guess not” you sighed, thinking on how to break to this woman you had tried to kill two of her friends. You came to the conclusion that you shouldn’t. “I traded with Carl and Rick for some medical supplies. Few months later Tara, Rick, and Daryl stumbled into my area needing help so I did. Daryl’s been trading with me since.”
“What kind of trade?” she pushed.
“Food,” you answered. “He’s been feeding me, in return I’ve been getting him stuff. Blankets, bandages, jeans, kid’s shit like bottles, and toys-”
“And raincoats with little butterflies on it?” Carol interrupted you. You nodded and whispered a ‘yeah’ under your breath. “I have a niece called Judith. She’s trying to name all the butterflies.” she spoke lovingly of the child and you couldn’t help but smile at the thought of a small girl pointing at water-proof butterflies giving them cute names. She probably gave them different names every time she listed them.
The smile faded as you remembered the world isn’t that simple anymore. “So what now?” you asked.
“You’ll stay here” Carol ordered. “You’ll do your part, whatever way you can.”
You nodded in agreement “I know this might be a big ask considering we just met but,” you began, taking a big breath to try and stave off the tiredness, “Could I help here? In the hospital. I was a combat medic before this so it’s probably the best way I can help.”
And it could be a great way to weed out who knows who you are and threaten them into keeping their mouth shut, or even shutting it for them.
Your request was granted, under the watchful eye of Laura, and so began your new life at The Sanctuary.

You write Tang and Red's dynamic so well! Could I ask for more Tang being a wholesome dad to Red with 7 please?
Tang and TLT Red are really interesting to write like this, I could write 500 prompts of them interacting! I decided to go slightly farther back in the timeline for this one. Like. VERY far back in the timeline. So far back this is how Tang decided he was dad now back.
I am apparently incapable of not writing things that are nearly full length fics right now. This is as long as a chapter of SFAUT.
“Do you need anything else?”
The new routine... or was it a habit? Both? Whatever it was,Tang had decided it was alright, despite the fact it had first started out of a mixture of suspicion and curiosity. How could it not have, with one of the first and most stubbornly determined enemies that had been fighting MK showed up at Pigsy’s Noodle’s after hours with two Bull Clones holding onto the side of his truck, haphazardly packed with boxes they could see through the windows and holding an injured arm?
“As of 6 hours ago I am no longer assisting my parents” was the explanation Red Son had given, short and to the point, when they had all raised their weapons (makeshift in the case of himself and Pigsy) at the sight. No one had believed him at the time, but apparently something made MK stop the demon when he made to leave without another word.
----------
“What do you mean? Why the boxes?” MK asked, gripping onto the back of the demon’s coat. He let go and shrunk his staff when he tugged at it and Red Son took in a sharp breathe of pain. Clearly he didn’t think Red Son was a threat with his injury, “What happened to your arm?”
“My shoulder was dislocated,” Red Son explained in shocking honesty at the last question, turning to look at the group once again in only slight hesitation. Tang realized that he looked... tired. His eyes were red and irritated, it reminded him of how MK’s eyes looked when Pigsy first taught him how to cook and he got a face full of hot broth steam in them. “There was a... complication with some demons that wished to do business with my parents. They have been dealt with.” Tang did not miss how MK’s eyes widened in realization. He must have known was Red was referring to.
“Shouldn’t that be in a sling?” Tang asked without thinking, earning a tight glare from Pigsy and Mei as he lowered the bowl he was brandishing back to the countertop. “What? It’s what you’re supposed to do!” Something was... off. Tang didn’t know what, but something didn’t feel right about this. And not in a ‘this is secretly a trap’ kind of way.
Red Son looked at him oddly, then back down as the arm he cradled in his uninjured one before addressing MK again with an aggravated sigh. “I supposed you’ll find out eventually, you’re persistent like that. I have a... safe house, I suppose you’d call it, hidden away in the mountains far outside the city. Not even my parents know about it. I’m going to stay there. I suppose you could consider me defected to your side from now on, should a large enough problem arise.”
“Did something happen with your parents?” Tang asked, taking a step forward with a raised eyebrow and ignoring the yells of “what are you doin have you lost your marbles!?” from Pigsy and the shocked look from Mei.
The odd look was back on Red’s face, mixed with surprise and anger this time. “NO.”
“Because people usually don’t run off to a safe house their family doesn’t know about and defect to the other side of a conflict unless something happened.” Tang emphasized each of the most important parts of his accusation carefully, hoping that at least MK would pick up on what he was hinting at. The silence behind him told him Pigsy seemed to. “Especially with not a truck packed with what looks like everything they own, and double especially when they take the time to stop to visit someone they hate to tell them goodbye.”
“It-!” Red started to snap, a shaky sigh leaving him as he calmed himself. “It’s none of your concern.”
“Did your parents hurt you?” MK asked softly, a smattering of horror under-toning his words and tang could head Mei choke back a noise behind them. It wasn’t an angry one, and definitely wasn’t happy. Pigsy remained quiet.
“NO!” Red snapped  with his hair ablaze as he turned back to MK, hissing in pain as he jostled his arm. “They wouldn’t-! They-! Not... not like that.” His temper and and hair and voice fizzled out like someone dumping a bucket of water on a campfire and Tang did not miss the implications of those words, whether Red had meant to let them slip past or not.
“You need medical attention,” Tang stated, putting his hand on Red Son’s good shoulder gently. Red Son tensed under his touch. “I cannot in good conscious let you leave without that at least, especially not if you’re telling the truth about not fighting us anymore.”
“Why?” Red asked, odd look back. Tang realized it was confusion. “I know I just said I’m not your enemy, but why are you offering to help me?”
“Because I want to.”
----------
Exactly WHY that managed to work, Tang still didn’t know. But for some reason his words seemed to have struck a chord with Red Son and he agreed to have his Bull Clone driver follow them (them being MK, Mei, and Tang as Pigsy still had to manage the Noodle Shop) to the secret base (or the Sea-Crate HQ) at Sandy’s.
Sandy was shockingly understanding, welcoming him onto his boat for treatment with just the barest explanation. It probably helped that half of Sandy’s cats immediately flocked to the fire demon to run against his legs and his only reaction to them was a hesitant look down as he tried not to step on them.
Red was unusually quiet the entire time, as if he was trying to understand what exactly was happening around him. Mei tried to make snide remarks to get a rise out of him, to just growls and glowers. MK tried to talk to him about anything, mostly Monkey King related questions, but again he got the same reaction. Mei eventually changed her tactic to talking about tech and that got at least some responses from Red. Eventually they just watched as Sandy patched the demon up and all of his cats piled on top of him to the confusion and amusement to everyone.
It wasn’t until Sandy had properly patched Red up that Tang suggested he just stay at the base for the night instead of heading out that everyone not named Red Son seemed to realize what Tang’s real plan was.
Keep Red Son close just in case. Tang did not think Red was lying, not in the slightest. He was acting too off for this to be an act. But he knew that not everyone on Team MK would agree with him. After all, it was easier to keep an eye on your enemy if he was right next to you. But Tang did not think he was lying. Tang thought he needed help.
He seemed at least somewhat impressed by the base but didn’t really say much. Sandy had brought up the important question of “what if DBK and PIF find out you are here?”, to which Red explained that if they discovered he was there they wouldn’t just storm the place and drag him home given demon customs and the like. Using the safe house instead of his penthouse (and wasn’t it a trip to learn he had a penthouse) was more for him to not have to deal with their attempts for as long as possible.
MK and Mei had jokingly told him he owed them for letting him stay and while their reaction to him agreeing to pay them back whatever they liked was amusing, it made Tang wonder exactly what kind of situations Red Son was used to. Where he would have to pay everything done for him back. He seemed to accept their rebuttal that he just needed to promise not to light anything on fire easily enough.
“Do you need anything else?” was his final question to Red before they left him be, trusting the security system and Sandy (and the ocean) to handle anything that may come up. He placed a hesitant hand on Red’s head, something he did for MK and something he hoped would not offend Red Son. He felt the heat of the fire that would flare up his hair. He could feel it fluctuate, heating and cooling and heating again in response to something. Fascination couldn’t be erased from Tang’s face.
Red looked at him with that odd confused look again and said. “No... but... thank you?”
Red Son announced in the morning that he would be staying and would join Team MK.
----------
“Do you need anything else?” Tang asked, placing his hand on Red’s head. This had become... something. Something he just did whenever he could. A way to gauge how Red was feeling and a way to show him he trusted him given how easily his hair flared up. As well as a way to show he did care. They ended the day the same way every time, the question and the gesture one after the other.
“No, but thank you,” was the reflexive response from the fire demon. It was said so much easier now, so much more honestly. Sometimes he would answer with an affirmative, long ago hesitant but now just as easy as saying the sky was blue.
Tang couldn’t have been more proud of Red Son. He was still the proud and loud and showoff-y and fiery tempered demon he always was, but he was also trying to show he wanted to change. Wanted to be a hero now. Red was still unsure of a lot, but he seemed to be molding himself into the entire team well. Even Pigsy had quickly taken a shine to him after he offered to fix his kitchen appliances!
Tang also did not miss how he was starting to forget to call him Mr. Tang now, at very rare times. Whether it was because of MK calling him something else or just how Red Son felt, the scholar wasn’t sure. But hearing Red Son stop and correct himself with a “thanks d-MR. tANG!” was also something. Tang had decided that was alright as well.
DBK, on the other hand, didn’t seem to think it was given his reaction in that last fight when that happened. But Tang couldn’t rightly care what he had to say about it.
