antizionism is not antisemetism and you are delusional for believing so. the victim complex is strong
Wellā€¦.it seems that you really donā€™t know the history of the term anti Zionism. Let me help you out a bit. The term anti Zionism was created by the Russians during the Soviet Union. The Russians hated jews. During that time period they wanted to find a way to destroy jews and their culture. Thatā€™s where anti Zionism comes in.
If you havenā€™t read Dara Hornā€™s people loves dead jews, she does an amazing job with going into detail about what happened- Iā€™m gonna summarize it (I may not do it justice)ā€¦
During the 1920ā€™s and 30ā€™s the USSR was ā€œsupportingā€ Yiddish culture- they would pay for Yiddish language schools, theaters, publishing houses, etc. A lot of Russian jews were thriving in Russia during this time period due to the USSR ā€œsupportā€. But the Soviets wasnā€™t doing all of this to be kind and good. This was part of a larger plan to brainwash the jews so that they would submit to the Soviet regime. It came with a price.
The Soviets would eliminate anything in the celebrated jewish ā€œnationalityā€ that didnā€™t suit soviet needs. If you DIDNT practice your religion, study traditional Jew texts, Spoke Hebrew, or support Zionism- you were awesome. The soviets pioneered a well known slogan- which has spread all over the world and which it remains popular today: ā€œit was not antisemitic, merely anti- Zionistā€. The Soviets managed to persecute, imprison, torture, and murder thousands of Jewsā€¦.
The only reason that the Soviets allowed Yiddish was so that they could continue their Jew hating game. Soviet Yiddish schools changed the language to get rid of biblical and rabbinic Hebrew. Why? Because Hebrew was and is still part of Jewish culture. The Soviets also forced Russian ā€œanti-Zionismā€ Jews (who was brainwashed into hating their own Jewishness) to write stories and plays that would show how ā€œhorribleā€ traditional Jewish practice was. They would create these happy heroes who would reject both religion and Zionism.
This continued until the Soviets moved on to the next phase- purging Russian jews. If you were caught in a synagogue, a Jewish centered club, etc. you would be imprisoned, murdered, or exiled. This went on until the Soviets started to do the same thing to the anti Zionist jews.
Yā€™all this is why anti Zionism is antisemitic. Please know a terms history before you start spitting it out- thinking you know what it means. Anti Zionism is literally rooted into antisemitism. And the reason why a lot of countries and people use this term is because- (drum roll please)- they hate jews. This is why I keep telling yā€™all to please read up on history. Donā€™t get your info from social media or random websites. Just pick up a book, journals, or sourced papers and read them. Itā€™s not that hardā€¦

I am so fucking outraged. Look at these pro-hamas terrorist supporters at Columbia university harassing our Jewish brother. They didnā€™t ask his beliefs or if he was a Zionist. They simply took one look at him and assessed that he was a Jew so they surrounded and harassed him. Donā€™t any of you EVER tell me itā€™s ā€œanti-Zionism not antisemitismā€. We are now approaching 1940ā€™s Germany level of antisemitism. I am sick to my fucking stomach. Daven for his well being and mental health.

Russia, 1881: Weā€™re gonna kill any Jew that doesnā€™t flee Russia. Weā€™re restricting Jewish emigration to Europe, but permitting emigration to the Middle East.
Germany, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Finland, Slovakia, Croatia, France, and others, 1933-1945: Weā€™re gonna kill every Jew in Europe. Flee to the US or Palestine, or die trying.
The US, 1927-1952: Yeah sorry weā€™re restricting Jewish immigrants to like. 300 people per country. So good luck getting in. We recommend that Jews go to Palestine instead. Btw we are looking to take in Nazi scientists if you know any
Egypt, 1947-1950: Weā€™re rounding up all our Jews and deporting them to Israel
Iraq, 1951-1952: Weā€™re rounding up all our Jews and deporting them to Israel
Algeria, 1962-1965: Weā€™re pressuring and intimidating Jews in the hopes that theyā€™ll all leave the country and go to Israel
Egypt, 1956: Weā€™re rounding up all our Jews and deporting them to Israel (again)
Egypt and Libya, 1967: Weā€™re rounding up, torturing, and killing all our Jews. The ones that survive can flee to Israel
Poland, 1968: The Jews in our country are already loyal to Israel. They will face dire consequences if they donā€™t leave our country and go to Israel
Ethiopia, 1974-1985: Weā€™re going to marginalize and eventually try to kill all our Jews, and the only way they can escape is by being airlifted out of the country by Israeli helicopters
The US, 2023: Why canā€™t the Israeli Jews just go back to where they came from? Donā€™t they all have dual citizenship or whatever?

And the thing is, even if everyone living in a country was responsible for said country's actions- (an inherently ridiculous idea, but whatever) -that still doesn't excuse being antisemitic/transphobic/racist/ablist/etc.
If a marginalized person not agreeing with you---or even doing something horrible and disgusting---makes you feel like- "oh, it's ok for me to be antisemitic/racist/whatever" -then you're just a bigot.
Point blank, full stop.
There is no situation where bigotry is ok or excusable.
And, frankly, it's insane to me that the same people that were going crazy about people misgendering a school shooter and- (rightly) -saying that you don't get to be bigoted and then pretend it's fine because you "had an excuse" are now the ones being antisemitic in the name of being pro-palestine.
Like...what the fuck???
conflating diaspora jews with the actions of the israeli government is not okay, yes, but have you considered it's not okay to conflate israeli jews with them either

Alright @frostbitebakery, come get y'all's juice!
Death, Devourer of All
Last Line Challenge
It's been a while since I've done one of these, but I was tagged by the lovely @frostbitebakery so y'all know I gotta do it, especially since the last fic I worked on was the codywan first kiss thing for Gooey-Wan---so enjoy <3 I'll reblog it later with the link to the fic
----------
ā€œPromise?ā€Ā  They were close now, so close that all it would take was a slight barely-there movement for their lips to touchā€”and Cody found it harder and harder to focus on Obi-Wanā€™s eyes, his own trailing down to his lips instead. It would be so easyā€¦ ā€œI promise.ā€

I'm aware that I haven't posted anything for Star Wars in a while---which is by design, I'm in a writing funk atm and need some time to decompress---but one of the things I'm enjoying writing when I do find the energy to do so is Obi-Wan's development via how he views/refers to himself.
Not necessarily in an explicit "oh I'm worthless" or whatever way, but like...
Whenever he's feeling hopeless or lost, whenever he's doubting himself and the war and everything that's happening around him, he always refers to himself as "Ben."
It separates him from being a Jedi and it clearly shows that he's losing parts of himself, since so much of himself is tied up in being a Jedi and helping people and doing good---so, when he's doubting himself and struggling, he reverts back to the name he went by in one of the worst times of his life...
...but then, when he comes back from that, when he regains his confidence in himself and what he's doing, when he connects back to being a Jedi and the Force---he becomes "Obi-Wan," once again.
Just...I have so many feelings about the reclaiming of names and the symbolism that all of it brings, I'm sorry.

It is kind of amazing that The Clone Wars, a show for children, has an episode card literally dealing with the concept of attachment and yet grown adults on this platform and others still think attachment means love and the Jedi are evil and wrong for forbidding it.
Tumblr media
[Photo id: a picture of a television in a dark room. The screen is black with big blue text that says "Attachment is not compassion." In the corner of the screen in smaller text it says "S2:E8 Brain Invaders" and in even smaller print beneath that "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."]
