Thinking about AMFMN Missa.
Thinking about how he tries, again and again, to be strong. Tries to refuse to be bothered by the fact that the person he's looking at wears his husband's face but isn't his husband. Tries to be willing and ready to fight him despite knowing it'd be his husband's body he's hurting. Tries to keep his composure in front of Chayanne and Tallulah just like their Papa Phil does. Tries not to let himself be overwhelmed by the fact that in order to get his husband back, he has to beat a GOD.
But every time he gets ready, every time he steels himself, every time he's braced for a fight and prepared to hurt Phil's body for the sake of saving him, something happens that knocks down his resolve instantly and sends him spiraling all over again, restarting the process of grief.
And every time that "something"— The moments Phil breaks through in a moment of clarity, the moments he can't shake seeing his husband's hands being the ones doing harm to him and their friends, the sight of Phil's body struggling so badly with housing a god it shouldn't be harboring —knocks him back down, he gets angrier. Angrier at himself for being so easy to crack. Angrier that as soon as he's prepared to do what he has to to save Phil, something else breaks his heart. Angrier that he's a grim fucking reaper, arguably the strongest person on the island because of it, yet he can't do shit when it matters most.
And then FINALLY, when things finally reach a head, he just SNAPS. But the worst has to happen before he does.
I am so unbelievably excited to write far enough into the fic for people to actually see what I mean by this. I am SO happy with how I've planned Missa's character in AMFMN.

headcanoning AE era emduo preparing for a formal event and the day before or so Techno is just bemoaning the fact that he's gonna have to do his hair all nice and formal (and he's only half serious, he genuinely does like having a nice hair style but actually doing it??) and Phil just slow blinks at him as if they haven't done this song and dance before, and says "mate I usually end up doing it for you, now quit your complaining and help me make sure i've got all the correct pins and medals laid out right now". idk I just like to think that Techno for the most part does enjoy being in formal wear, maybe bc it looks cool or the gold jewelry/ornamentation is soothing for piglin instincts. it's just a pain getting into formal wear because there's layers and pins and medals that all need to be in the right place and then he's gotta style his hair-

Techno doing that thing where he sighs very loudly and exaggerated and acts all pathetic and sad while they're getting ready until Phil eventually is like "mate, do you need help doing your hair?" and Techno is like "I guess you can help" because he's a little shit about asking for help but also he just hates doing it and lacks the patience for it
