As a brown aroace person I am terrified of the future and marriage expectations that may be put on me. Growing up it was drilled into me to never date anyone which unsurprisingly I was completely okay with but now as I’m growing older there’s a strange expectation that I will get married eventually as though that is the only option. Anytime I try to talk to my parents about it they just put it off as me being immature. I’m worried that when the time comes where my parents try to arrange me into a marriage and I refuse all of them I’ll become a disappointment and to save their reputation who knows what will happen… is there any other poc aroace people going through something similar and want to share their experiences?

Hey, I've been coming across a lot of discriminatory stuff lately (i.e. sexism, aphobia) and while it is probably just me, I'll put this out into the world for anyone else who needs to hear it, because I do.

What we're doing is not hopeless. There are other people out there still fighting the good fight. We're not alone in anything we do, and for as long as there are people protesting against our existence, there will be others standing besides us. Stay hopeful, it's never impossible.
