Steph: Have you told Bernard about Kon?
Tim: What about him?
Steph: About how you two are always one step away from dating?
Tim: What? That's not true. Kon is just my friend
Steph:
Steph: You and I have a very distinct conception of friendship

Love this moment for getting into Bernard’s psyche more. Also that “I had accepted myself, but not everyone else had” is so painful but real as a queer person myself who has been out for several years in a not-always-so-accepting area.
And the way Tim’s face gets so intense when asking if Bernard’s okay now. Rossmo & Fitzmartin did great on that I think, because the emotions for this scene hit hard for me, and I don’t think it’s just because I know them on a personal level.

Tim: I used to have such a crush on Blue Beetle.
Bart: I know what you mean, Jaime is so cute.
Tim, shoving a pile of notebooks with Professor Tim Drake-Kord scribbled all over them under his bed: Uh..... Yeah.

Bart: Anyway, goodnight y'all, man's got to be up early. By the way, I use man as a term for everyone, I'm not misgendering myself.
Tim: Man is gender-neutral except when you decide otherwise.
Gar: Like the way Shaggy from Scooby Doo says it.
Bart: Exactly!
Tim: Shaggy is an entire gender in himself.

Since its pride month, Tim Drake is a LGBTQ character, and cooperation are putting out pride merchandise, let's talk about something.
Tim Drake as a character
Yes I will be talking about it.
This isn't very structured, more of a rant, and feel pleased to add on with your own contributions.
See I love most DC characters, and most DC characters have at least one good story to them, that later gets erased from the timeline by some multiverse or time travel BS.
Tim Drake is one of those characters. And no I'm not saying he is the only one. I think Stephanie, Cassandra, and a multitude of others have wasted potential.
But I digress.
Tim Drake is Queer, he is under the Bi umbrella. He now get featured on the pride month covers for DC, and is having a decent story with Bernard right now, but could we do something with him as a character.
Hes still Robin? Right now. Which I won't complain I love Tim Robin, but we know he can be a vigilante away from Batman.
While I loathe the name Red Robin and think that there is at least 5 other good names that at least some part of the fandom agrees on.
Red Robin was an interlude in Tim's life, a point from a before to a new after. He shouldn't have remained Red Robin, but I don't think he should just be Robin anymore.
We could have such a cool identity story where he finally gets a really good costume, and name. We could keep the Black Yellow, and Red. However Tim just seems to be the second thought Robin. [Out of the popular 4 male robins.]
Damain is getting he tournament arc, has his rebeling costume, Dick had his reveling stage, and is an established hero separate but next to the Batfam. Jason is an antihero/ dark vigilante who has had many comic runs, and retelling.
Tim? Was the first Robin to get a comic solo run, and the Red Robin series, but besides that, and after that? He doesn't really have a dedicated comic run anymore.
I'm aware he was a big part of Detective comics, and has been a central character before and after, but nothing on the level of his other adopted brothers.
Sure Tim is getting his dose of upgrade, and his current suit right now isn't bad, and I actually like it. I think it is time that DC actually does something with a character with a well established history of being the first at most of the things.
He was the first to wear pants. He was the first to use a bo staff, he was the first to get a solo run, he was the first to deal with a switch in who was Batman. He is now the first official Robin to be out of the closet.
Tim has so much potential, but he often has his traits pawned off to others and what is left is never his character.
Sure each Elseworld, timeline, dimension will be different, but Tim has never really been Tim in a long while. 1
I just hope DC doesn't mess up again, or take a wasteopportunity.
Killing Tim doesn't count as doing something with the character *cough* DCeased and DC vs. Vampires.

Damian Living On Tim's Murder Boat AU: Part 2 Electric Boogaloo
Jason: *enters, wearing shades and coffees in hand* Hey Timmy, I'm having a mental break-
[Kitchen is on fire, Damian and Tim are screaming]
Jason: ... You seem busy, I'll come back later. *leaves*
Bernard: So why'd your mom pick "Head" as her fake surname?
Damian: Presumably because my grandfather, her father, was called the demon's head.
Bernard: Her name when estranged from her dad had a reference to him? Metal as hell, maybe I should do that.
Damian: You're estranged from your father?
Bernard: Both my parents. They don't really... approve of me dating Tim.
Damian: While I agree you're above Drake, there are worse men you could date.
Bernard: That's the thing. They, uh, don't like that he's a guy.
Damian: ... I see. *unsheathes sword* And where do they live again?
Bernard: I appreciate the thought, really, but please don't.

Robin (1993) #121
Re-reading the early issues with Bernard and this scene was just so gay. Like they consistently try to make him be straight but it always just comes off like a queer kid desperately trying to stay in the closet

Love that Tim’s taste in men is just *old friend who uses humor to bury identity crises, over-compensates attraction to girls by flirting with women way too old for them, and wears iconic sunglasses purely for the cool factor.*

I've had a running gag in DC fic about Justice League Queer welcome baskets, and I finally have the chance to include them instead of just referencing them, so time to ask
When you were a scared baby queer, what would have been something great for queer elders to put in a welcome package to help you feel safe and supported and part of the community? Or if you're a scared baby queer now, what would you wish for?
For those not into DC, or just not aware, the JLQ is a support community within the DC comic universe organised by Gregorio de la Vega, the first out superhero in a mainstream comic.
