The Carnivore Diet: Benefits, Vitamin Deficits, and Better Alternatives
In this exploration, I will delve into the carnivore diet, examine its purported benefits, and shed light on why its vitamin deficit makes it a less-than-ideal dietary choice.
In recent years, the carnivore diet has gained traction as a radical approach to nutrition, advocating for an exclusively animal-based intake while eschewing plant-based foods. Proponents of this diet argue that it brings a plethora of benefits, from weight loss to increased energy levels. However, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that while the carnivore diet may have some advantages,…

Healthy habits I'm developing for 2023
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's already April and I'm still in that rut of sleeping at 2am, buying a quick fix of candy at the store when I have fruit at home, eating too many carbs and skipping the gym. Now, I'm getting my shit together.
It's easy to disguise bad habits with excuses. "Oh, I have exams coming up". "Work's been really draining lately". But if you don't change now, you'll be stuck in that same loop for the rest of your life.
Prioritising health:
Sleeping 7-8 hours every night: To end my absolutely atrocious amount of screen time, I've decided to delete all those distracting apps on my phone. It's hard, but worth it. Now I won't be tempted to scroll on Instagram when I should be sleeping.
Making healthy food choices: Choosing homemade granola over chocolate bars, banana bread over Nutella sandwiches, and homemade nachos over packaged chips makes a huge difference.
Working out: l go to the gym daily, but lately, I've been lazy and slacking off. So I want to start going again along with squeezing in a run in the evening. Finishing at least 8k steps every day. Moving my body in some way, whether it's dance or yoga.
Water: I have a bad habit of forgetting to drink water, even when it's right in front of me. So I've downloaded some water reminders to help me remember to drink. I've also decided to incorporate lemon honey iced tea into my diet because I'm a fiend for it.
Working smart:
Creating a to-do list: Committing to knocking off at least three things on a to-do list and gradually increasing the number of tasks.
Keeping devices away: I've started keeping my phone in my mom's room while I work, or I lock it in my cupboard so I won't get distracted, and I use extensions like WasteNoTime and StayFocusd to block unnecessary websites.
Dividing time: Making a schedule for my day, so I can divide school studies, sketching practice and homework. It is so important to block out parts of the day for morning and night routines and self-care.
Cleansing my life:
A clean workspace: Clean up my desk every day, so I can sit in an uncluttered space, and keep my racing mind calm.
Making my bed: Focusing on making sure my bed is clean first thing in the morning, so I have a place that's clean and warm after a long day.
Deleting social media: It was difficult, but I did it. Fighting the temptation to log in again is real, but I'm slowly coming to realise I don't care what people are posting on their stories, and the FOMO is slowly fading.
Toxic people: Getting rid of toxic friends, and deleting numbers and chats of people are who no longer important in my life. Having access to me is a privilege.
Self-care: Every Sunday, I'm setting aside a few hours for myself. During that time, I'll be having a long shower, deep conditioning my hair, using a scrub and exfoliator, shaving, moisturizing, and eating something nice. I'll be baking something for the rest of the week so I won't resort to junk food for dessert or snacks.
Understanding and knowing what you want in life is the first step to beginning your journey. Don't let others make you feel guilty for putting yourself first. It's your life, and ultimately, it's only you who can change it.

Self Care Activities that Actually Help
My list of practical, achievable and useful self care tips that will actually improve your mood instead of enabling you to wallow.
Reply to your correspondence
Often if we feel low or our motivation is down, we find it tricky to respond to messages and calls from others. This allows unopened messages to pile up which creates stress and even panic. Instead of trying to ignore this problem, set a timer for 15 minutes. Then give yourself those 15 minutes to respond to as many of those messages as possible, starting with the most urgent messages first. If you cannot complete all the messages, take a minute to reevaluate. Can you give yourself another 15 minutes to finish the task today? If not, that’s fine. Assign the task for tomorrow, and repeat the process when you feel refreshed. If you are not able to give a thorough response to all of your contacts, I recommend drafting a universal message to send, stating that you are currently occupied and you hope to offer them a more appropriate message over the coming days. You can tailor this message to suit your needs and circumstances, and it reduces the amount of pressure on you to offer explanations for your absences.
Wash your clothes
Take the clothes you are wearing off. All of them. Strip your bed. Gather up any towels or tea cloths you can find. Wash them all. I cannot overstate the benefit of living in a clean environment, and wearing clean clothes. Even if you can’t wash everything, wash the essentials, and make sure you are wearing fresh clothes from head to toe. You can swap pyjamas out for more pyjamas, what you wear doesn’t matter. Just make sure they’re clean.
Water
Drink a pint of water with nothing added, no fruit, no cordial, nothing. Just drink a pint of water in one sitting. You are almost definitely dehydrated, just like everyone else. Hydration provides mental clarity, energy, and even relives stress. It reduces pains and aches in the body. It helps quell nausea and heartburn. Water is the quickest and easiest way to reduce physical pain or discomfort throughout the day. By keeping hydrated, you’re improving your quality of life almost instantly.
Stretch in bed or on the sofa
The last thing most of us want to do when we feel low or unmotivated is going for a run, or working out at the gym. Instead of pushing yourself to get a serious or intense workout in, try some stretches you can do from the comfort of your bed or sofa. Stretches will help relieve tension in the body and can increase your energy throughout the day. You don’t have to do anything crazy, just a couple of simple, effective stretches will do the trick.
Eat a “healthy” carb
People so often try to avoid eating carbs as they think carbohydrates are inherently unhealthy. This is simply not the case. While carbohydrates are often used in the production of unhealthy treats such as cakes, cookies and pies, they are not fundamentally bad for you. Carbs are our main source of energy, and if you’re feeling low energy is exactly what you need. Try eating a healthier alternative to those instant sugar rush carbs, such as rice, wholemeal pastas or breads, potatoes or oats. You can add other ingredients to these meals, such as berries to oats or some veg to pasta, to make a more filling meal. Everyone eats differently, but we all need carbohydrates in our diet to provide energy and nutrition, alongside other food groups. Creating a balanced diet is much more important than eating “healthy” all the time. Respect your body by fuelling it appropriately and regularly.
Clean yourself as best you can
Have a shower. Take your makeup off. Brush your hair. Clip your nails. Put deodorant on. Brush your teeth. Wash your hands. You might not have the energy for a full “everything shower” but you can probably do one of the things listed above to make yourself feel better about yourself and your hygiene. Don’t berate yourself if you’ve gone a while without practicing any of these for a while, life can be pretty difficult. Just accept your current situation and try to better it as best you can with the energy you now have.
Please reach out to a trusted person or a qualified professional if you feel you need extra support for any reason. You are not alone and you do not need to suffer in silence. Support is there.

AITA for setting a boundary on a Minecraft server that I didn’t want to interact with one of the admins after he quit my partner’s dnd campaign?
I (20, nonbinary) was on a lgbtq+ discord and had become friends with a trans guy (henceforth referred to as A) who was a minor. This was easy to forget as he made raunchy jokes, got drunk and high on call, and I have horrible memory issues (so I often opt to just remember people’s names and topics I should avoid around them via making little notes.)
We would very often end up in a vc together with others from the server, including our respective partners, chilling, playing games, sharing fun things we found. (His partner will henceforth be referred to as B, and mine as C) (I had known his partner before from another server and was happy to see them getting along then eventually getting together)
(C especially would always give advice like “if you’re drinking, make sure to eat/get some carbs, drinking on an empty stomach is bad!” Because they love researching medical effects to make their writing and worldbuilding feel more realistic)
There were a handful of incidents where I believe I was the asshole
I loved showing off games and musicals to people, and this has the unfortunate effect of sometimes unintentionally saying words that anger people.
Incident 1) I was playing a game and mindlessly saying location names- and I got a dm- I pause to glance at it- and I got a message saying “hey remember [redacted] is A’s deadname and he’s uncomfortable that you keep saying it”. I pause, make a mental note of “but. It. Wasn’t directed at him?” Then continue playing, dodging saying the name for the rest of my time showing the game.
Incident 2) I was showing off a musical I like- and there’s a cute scene where a character suggests a name for another character, saying that they don’t need it anymore, and it just so happened to be A’s deadname again.
Incident 3) I was playing Sea of Thieves solo- and struggling. I’d been hit by lightning, and now was being attacked by a shark. A and B were making fun of the fact I had slipped into an accent out of sheer panic so I (enraged and not thinking at all) said “I’ll name the damn shark after you, fillet and gut it!” (A really likes sharks. I also like sharks but apparently not as much as him)
(I apologized for this on call later, saying that I was emotional and mad, and if I’d been thinking I wouldn’t have said that. I also apologized for the previous incident about the deadname)
A and B had also joined C’s dnd campaign alongside another one of our mutual friends, D (who did not leave the campaign, but that’s not important right now). I have reason to believe C told the others they couldn’t be either of the two classes I said my character thought they were, but I don’t know. Things went great (or so I thought) we got some plot trails (one connected to the race of my character, one being D’s character’s family) and everything seemed fine- A was flirting with a lot of the enemies and NPCS (C found the character arts via google images and unfortunately ‘attractive’ seems to be a main character design commonality)
Then one day, I woke up to check the campaign discord because of a ping and noticed both A and B had left the server and there was no new messages- confused, I hopped into call with C- who explained that A had dropped a long list of accusations about Myself and C, essentially insulting us and accusing us of things like ‘sending NSFW things to kids’, ‘acting like the victim’, ‘naming a character A’s deadname’, ‘DM favouritism’, and a whole bunch of other things. I was- shocked.
(A also apparently messaged D and said something like “sorry for ending the campaign like that, if you want to use your character you can always write with me!” And got angry when D said they didn’t leave the campaign.)
(C is also a generally sex-repulsed Asexual. They were forcing themself to become more comfortable with it because of A’s raunchy jokes)
This was followed by some harassment from A and B.
A tried publicly calling out C on social media (which C had only used to make a single post sharing something they had made for someone’s art/design) for “sending nsfw things to minors” and on another platform for “being a fake ass bitch”, as well as both of them heckling a new haircut I’d been nervous but excited to try and get for years and just figured out how to ask for (responses such as “omg no ew why would you do that”), as well as A saying “no I don’t” a picture I shared of C and I going to see a musical together with the caption “you wish you were here!” (All were shared and reacted to publicly on the discord server)
(To be fair about the haircut- the stylist had cut part of it a little too short and it made my face look especially chubby)
This is where I start to feel less like the asshole
So I went on the discord for the Minecraft server and said “hey, I don’t feel comfortable interacting with A after the allegations they’ve been making”. A immediately got defensive and angry about me saying “allegations” and kicked me from the discord before I could defend myself (and C).
I explained the situation to the admin of the server we’d met on, who also owned the Minecraft server, and apologized to them that they had to moderate. Both A and I lost our mod privileges on the discord, and I also found out A had been given multiple “cease and desist”s for… saying/sharing vulgar/nearly nsfw things on the discord before. And they did it again. The reason they were never banned or kicked was that the admin had made it in hopes that A would make friends.
Now. To a part that still horrifies me.
A legitimately found out C’s mom’s number, and called her to insist that C sent NSFW things to minors. (C suspects that they got it from a time C called the police out of genuine concern for A who hadn’t responded to any messages in around a day)
C also told me that the most they had sent A was like. Attractive anime guys from the first page of google images because C really liked big anime man chests. A apparently sent C full on p*rn once.
The problem is- I feel like I was the asshole- even though most of the “incidents” were accidents because I try to not remember someone’s deadname because- it’s? Not their name anymore? And it didn’t help that I genuinely do not remember being told it was their deadname until after incident 1.
Was I the Asshole?
What are these acronyms?

A couple of yall asked for the booty routine so here u go, shawty <3
Ik this looks like a lot, but trust, bae, it’s important. I felt like if ima talk abt my routine, might as well talk a lil bit abt food too since both work as a team.
[First, let me say that I am by no means a professional. This is something I've learned and acquired through self-research, as well as having two siblings, one who is a bodybuilder and the other who is a personal trainer. Also, the gym is a safe n fun space for everyone:) Work out because you want to, not bc you think you need to look a certain way <3]
Here's my Split: I added my upper body days as well in case yall wanted to kno <3
Monday: Glutes + quads
Tuesday: Back + Biceps
Wednesday: Glutes + Hamstrings
Thursday: Chest + Tricep
Friday: Full Body
Saturday + Sunday: Active rest!!! (Could be running, walking, bicycling, etc., whatever is fun to do! My personal fav is the stair master for an hr or Running for 3 miles, but you do whatever you can. Listen to your body.)
In addition, I do cardio after each sesh on the weekdays. For me, that's running for like 2 miles or so, depends how I'm feeling, but you do whatever cardio you'd like! A good start could simply be inclined walking!
Also, pls pls pls remember rest days are VITALLL. If u want to grow that booty (which is something the couple of you specifically mentioned), those rest days are important bc this is the period when those muscles are actually repairing themselves from the workout, resulting in growth!!! A huge misconception is that “the muscles grow during the workout”… no. Ur actually tearin up those puppies, so that’s what rest days r for! Both rest + protein contribute to ur muscle repair + growth (I’ll talk abt protein intake later). Naturally, I like to rest Sat n Sun, but it could be any 2-3 days of the week. Sometimes, I be usin that Fri full-body sesh as a rest day too so liiiike... if u need to, please do (especially during periods uuuuugh).
As for specific Workouts, I'll list em here. These r for the booty ;)
Hip thrusts, booty + hamstrings
Romanian dead lift, booty + hammies
Goblet Squat, quad destroyer
Hip abductions, booty burner, omfg
Leg press, depends on footing. Higher on platform works hammies n booty, lower works quads.
Weighted Squats, the whole damn leg.
Body weight squats OR lunges (good for warm-ups)
Leg curl, hammies
Leg extension, quads
Bulgarian split squat, booty n whole leg
I do 4 sets of 12 <3
(ALMOST FORGOT, I TARGET FOR 5-6 DIFF EXERCISE FOR EACH WORKOUT)
Nutrition plays a huuuge part as well, but I'll only talk very lil abt it since ion know yall's specific needs<3
Generally, if u want growth, just take ur current weight and put that in grams, for example = 170 lbs. -> 170 g of protein each day. Now, taking in the amount of protein u need can be hard at first, so just for the beginning, just try to at least get close to it then work ur way up. Foods high in protein that I like are Greek Yogurt, Chicken, Lean Ground Beef, Salmon, and snackies such as protein bars (avocado is like the holy grail for a phat booty just sayin. It's not protein, but it's the healthiest source of fat there is!). As for other groups (fat n carbs) don’t be so strict, bae… just use your portions. No need to restrict urself from ANY food bc no food is “bad”. I can talk allllll day abt this one but ima just shut up for now lmao.
PHEW, honestly, don't mention the gym around me cuz I will not shut up. Ima gym rat at heart so like I could literally keep writing abt this but bc literally, like, 3 ppl asked for this, Ima just wrap up here <3
Hope this was a lil bit of help @gltzpzy @mybvalentine @icenbroo <33333333
P.s. would it be cringe if I said I sometimes use Miguel as motivation??? Like he’s watchin me or som??? Bye, I hate that I do that, I’m like actually mentally unwell bc of that stupid mass of pixels Sony created ☠️

Liquor headcanons, in order of best to worst tolerance, for the Hetalia main cast:
America: Never gets drunk, ever. His super strength makes it that alcohol simply doesn’t affect him. Guy can chug absinthe like water and wake up the next day with a sunny smile. USA #1!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅🦅😍⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Because of his sweet tooth, he doesn’t bother with alcohol much, preferring soda and milkshakes instead. If he had to pick a favourite, it would be one of the cheap, popular American beers like budweiser. Always drunk from one of those cliche college red cups, natch!
Russia: Ridiculously strong tolerance. He is the land of vodka after all. Plus his sheer size (both in map area and as a man) gives him a huge edge in drinking. Only America and his cheat code metabolism can beat him. Everyone else is just plain doomed. Favourite drink is vodka (duh)
Canada: A dark horse! Canada takes after his papa France - the wine connoisseur of the world - but his height and huge map size gives him an edge in the tolerance game even beyond that. Favourite drink is anything maple flavoured, but especially beer
France: A lover of fine wines! Francy-pants can hold his liquor like a champ. Also his natural grace and poise make him seem less drunk than he is. Even wasted, the guy can walk in a straight line like a model on a catwalk. Has many favourites because the alcohol from his place is just so good! How can he possibly pick just one?
Italy: Another wine lover! Italy is a step down from France, but still puts up strong competition. All the carbs he eats play a big role. And he acts drunk a lot of the time anyway so pinpointing when he gets smashed is hard lol. Favourite drink is whichever wine pairs best with the delicious Italian meal he’s eating. Just never give him beer 🤮
China: Mid-tier. His long life has let him grow a better tolerance than some nations, but his slight build and tendency to flush comes back to bite him. Favourite drink is beer when he wants to relax, and baijiu when he’s feeling more traditional
Germany: Surprisingly low on the list for a man of his size. Mostly because he’s one of the youngest nations and so hasn’t had time to build up a good tolerance to alcohol. Also he mainly drinks beer so harder stuff tends to crater him. Favourite drink? Beer, beer, more beer 🍻
Japan: Very bad. His small frame and vulnerability to alcohol flush means only a glass or two goes straight to his head. Then he turns scarlet and falls asleep on someone. Favourite drink is sake while at home, beer while travelling
England: Dead last. Embarrassingly bad, especially for an ex-pirate! How is he so bad? No one knows. Favourite drink is anything

Spring break day 2
Earlier today I made a schedule for this week, what I will study everyday, and I think it's pretty manageable, so hopefully I will finish it everyday (probably won't lol)
So my to-do list for today was:
Make notes from Wikipedia on sodium ✅
Make notes from Wikipedia on potassium ✅
Review carbohydrates from my old notes/my textbook ✅
Honestly it wasn't so bad, I have one A4 of notes on sodium and potassium, I will probably review those later in the week, now everyday until Thursday I have two elememts per day and then i might review all of it on Friday... But we'll see, and dw i will post about it here!
And the carbs I already studied, so it was just a light review.
I know it's weird, but I lovee chemistry actually?? Like it's so fun for some reason 😭 so this is your sign to not be embarrassed about the things you like even if it's nerdy, geeky or whatever social media, your friends etc tell you it could be :)

Soft: Chapter Four.
Tumblr media
—> Chapter three
CW: Slightly suggestive. Hangover.
A/N: I posted the wrong chapter by accident🤦🏼‍♀️my bad. This chapter is a little short but I promise, it’ll get juicy soon :3
I wake up the next morning to find Amelia already gone and a little note laying on my bedside table, scrawled in her writing.
“Early shift at work, gotta go. Love you x”
The second I make any attempt to sit up out of bed, my head begins pounding, a cruel reminder of the sheer amount of alcohol I consumed last night. Yet another stupid decision that’ll make me waste another day lazing around and not doing anything productive. I somehow manage to stumble out of bed and into my bathroom. Because i’m an idiot, I slept in my makeup, breaking one of the most important rules I ever set for myself; never ever sleep in makeup. Crumbs of mascara descend down my dehydrated cheeks, lipstick clinging to the dry parts of my lips.
I wash away the remnants, praying that a bit of cold water and soap will help me to feel a bit more like a human being, rather than a zombie. It does, but not by much. The next thing on my list is to eat something, a proper meal, rather than just bits and pieces of random things laying around my cupboards. I usually opt for what known as ‘girl dinner’, a random assortment of little snacks. My go-to has been pickles with some tortilla chips, and apple slices with peanut butter. Instead of my usual ‘girl dinner’, I make myself a small bowl of pasta with some leftover sauce I have. Carbs will soak up the alcohol, I think.
Once I have something substantial in my stomach, the hangover is slowly starting to fade. It’s still there, but it’s gone from unbearable to just unpleasant. My head still hurts, but the spinning has subsided, luckily. I open my curtains and the windows, letting in some air to rid the smell of wine and takeaway food from my flat. It doesn’t take me long to clear up, putting the empty bottles and packages into the bin and the dirty clothes into the laundry. Now, my flat actually looks somewhat homely, rather than a biohazard. Look at me go, I think.
It’s well into the day, almost 3pm when I decide to reward myself with some well-earned phone time of scrolling on the same three apps for longer than i’d like to. I get into position on the couch, legs sprawled out and open tik-tok, scrolling endlessly on silly videos of cats that warm my heart and stupid memes. I make a mental note to look into getting a cat after I’ve learned to take care of myself. Id love a cat right now, but the poor thing wouldn’t last long. I can’t even look after myself most of the time, let alone another living thing.
The ‘ding’ of the washing machine interrupts my phone time and forces me to get my arse up and finish my chores. I drag the wet clothes out and carry them over to the dryer, turning it on and letting it run. After that, I scoop up the warm, dry clothes off the floor and carry them into my bedroom to fold and put away, like the responsible, functioning adult i’m pretending to be. I’m stopped in my tracks when I plop down on my bed and see a suit jacket hanging up on the drawer of my dresser.
Price’s jacket. Shit, his text.
The laundry gets completely forgotten and I pull up his message from last night.
Unknown: Lovely seeing you tonight, dove. Think you still have my jacket. -JP
My brain begins spinning again as I try to formulate some sort of answer that will make me seem like a normal human being. It takes me a good few minutes of typing and then deleting, but I get there in the end.
Me: I apologise for my rant, I was a bit of a mess. Let me know when you’re free and we can arrange getting your jacket back to you. P.s. the party wasn’t that bad.
I hit send on the message and eagerly await his response, like a teenager with a crush. Fucking stupid, I think. The first time a man has shown me attention in a few weeks and here I am, waiting with baited breath for him to-
Unknown: I told you, dove, no apologies. There’s fire in you, I like that. And as for the jacket, there’s no rush. Hope your head isn’t too sore today. -JP
I giggle like a schoolgirl as soon as I read his text. My brain is screaming because the handsome man with the broad shoulders is texting me, but I take a deep breath to calm the giddiness. He hasn’t exactly left it open-ended so I decide not to reply and wait for him to text next, not wanting to get too ahead of myself, only to be let down because I jumped to conclusions.
I finish the rest of my chores, his texts pinging in my brain. I start to imagine what it’d sound like in his voice as i’m doing the dishes from tonight’s dinner. I imagine his deep, rumbly voice, the voice that makes my fucking bones tingle and brain shake in my skull. I imagine pressing my face against his neck as he talks, feeling the vibrations against my lips. I imagine his voice calling me that stupid nickname, ‘Dove’. I’ve never been called that before, by anyone else, but it’s fast becoming my favourite nickname. It’s better than ‘hot tits’, anyway, the name my ex-boyfriend used to call me when he’d try to be smooth. When I think about it, my ex is nothing compared to Price. Sure, he’s tall and conventionally attractive, but he doesn’t have the same attitude he does. He doesn’t exude masculinity and confidence the way he does.
For fuck sake, I’ve only met the man once and here I am fantasising about him while I pretend to watch yet another rerun of gilmore girls, my attention on him rather than the screen.
I know i’m getting ahead of myself, getting too excited, but I can’t bring myself to care. For the first time in a long time, I let myself indulge in the thoughts and fantasies about the handsome man i’ve only met once. The thoughts continue well into the night, from when I curl up on the couch, to when I settle into bed, hand between my thighs and mind full of his voice. My sticky skin shines with sweat and my moans echo off the walls of my bedroom. I’d normally worry about being heard by the neighbours, but my mind is too full of Price to give a shit.

Let’s just get one thing straight right away: self-care is important for everyone. Not only do modern Americans (and anywhere else with a similar work week) work more than the average medieval peasant did, but stress is on the rise worldwide.
Stress is designed to give humans a short burst of energy and alertness, but it can also damage our bodies. It can cause sickness, increase chances of a heart attack, increases your appetite, and stress even causes way more than that. More info on stress on the body here.
So, yes, stress is bad for absolutely everyone, however, it is particularly hard on creatives. Yes, the bodily damage stress causes is the same as on every other person, but it is the harm to our work that is affected the most.
Studies show that the higher the stress, the lower the creativity, so your stress could be seriously limiting the quality of work you are putting out.
Don’t know where to start with self-care? I created a list of some ideas, and added plenty of links for people wanting to read more.
Take part in self-care Sunday. Some people need to schedule in a self-care day or they won’t do it. They put it off and put it off, so that it never happens. That’s why a growing number of people have started doing “self-care Sundays.” Simply put, it is one day during the week that is all about prioritizing your health.
Take a tea break. Tea has been noted to lower stress, so go sit in a comfortable spot with your favourite tea, and put your feet up for a while.
Take a phone/internet break. Phones are great in the way that they can give us constant stimulation, but is that a good thing? Not only is there a link between social media and depression, but phones can actually lower your creativity. It is when people are bored that their minds tend to wander and come up with great ideas, but how does that happen now with smartphones? Try a 24h internet detox, and see how you feel the next day. If you feel at all better, then maybe schedule a few days a month that you spend some time away from the digital world.
Go sit in nature. If it is possible for you and the weather is nice, go sit in nature. Not only is it great for stress levels and creativity, but it can even leave you feeling more rested. In japan, they even have a word for this magical effect nature has: shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing.”
Workout. I know, I know, some of you are cringing at that, but it really is important. Not only does exercise help with your health and lower stress, but it does also boost creativity. If you are new to working out, start small! Aim for 10 min a day, and do not be afraid to “cheat” (example: modified/kneeling pushups) until you build your strength up.
Go For A Walk. Walking outside is shown to dramatically reduce stress, and boost creativity.
Meditate. This one is hard, but studies do show that meditation dramatically lowers stress, keeps your brain young, and, you guessed it, boosts creativity.
Take a Nap. That’s right, nap time for adults. Did you know some medieval serfs had a scheduled nap time too? When people get the “3PM slump” a nap might really be in order. Studies show it lowers stress and boosts creativity. Do note that the keyword here is “nap.” Do not nap more than 30 min or you will go into too deep of a sleep, making you groggy and potentially mess with your sleep cycle. Instead, aim for 10-30 min.
Play with your pet. Yep, pets lower stress.
Eat Well. Yes, your body does crave carbs and fats when you are stressed, but a balanced diet can help your body manage stress levels, and boost creativity.
Take a Bath. Do I really have to link for this one? I doubt it. Yup, having a bath lowers stress.
Get proper sleep. Not getting enough sleep at night is horrible for your body, creativity, and your stress levels. Link here.
Join a group. For example, a writing group. Not only is chatting good for your mental health, but it can be helpful to chat with creatives who are going through the exact same things you are. Just be sure it is a positive environment.
Listen to happy music. Studies show it can help.

i've had a severe case of oral thrush (candidiasis) from being immunocompromised for over a year
but since I present flatly and friendly and half the time with a written list because i'm non-speaking that day: my doctor apparently has no clue this is a complaint.
I've done a no dairy, no white carbs diet for a month,
no acid diet
tapered off the prescription antacids and stopped eating anything fatty to cope with the acid reflux in case that helped
each time I reported back in writing that it hadn't changed things
went to the dentist who said you have a really bad oral thrush see your doctor. On his word I finally got treatment for it in December and said "this isn't strong enough a dose but I'll take it while doing all the diet stuff on my end to maximize chances, and i'll report any changes": I was able to taste the christmas meal and sleep without numbing my tongue sores. I requested a higher dose - I was told treatment failing means it can't be fungal, I didn't contest this vehemently enough but forged forward with lab tests instead:
6 lab tests because the local lab doesn't test for candida but didn't say so. I found a private lab willing to take a swab, and they reported back that I have a severe case: 10^7-10^9 cfu/ml.
sent those results via email and today the Dr said: "you haven't complained about your mouth, and we already treated for oral thrush, i guess i could give you probiotics to rebalance oral PH"
Obviously i'm already taking probiotics and have been for 6 months.
I am this close to switching my mouthwash to a peroxide solution and eating fish tank cleaner.
What I need to do is make a scene, perform the distress this has caused me privately to the doctor directly, verbally with emotion.
I am currently flat as hell from depression. I couldn't cry if I stubbed my toe and imagined losing someone close (that's actually regular intrusive thoughts).
10^7 cfu/ml is 10 000 000 fungi per ml, it should speak for itself. Normal amounts are less than 100 cfu/ml. I don't understand how "massive pathological yeast infection of the mouth" by a specialized lab tech is somehow inconclusive.
--------------------
i am too autistic for my doctor to see me as human and that's what i've known for a while now, the worst part is that it's made performing emotion or even making words even harder. I know she's having serious memory issues at the moment too and was willing to pretend it was that, give her some time.
i think i'll have to wait another month and see if I can "perform", if only by persistence: send her photos of my mouth every week with sad emojis.

How to loose weight without loosing your mind?
Trigger warning: weight loss and mentions of ed
I’ve been thinking about making this post for a while. Then I thought „hey it’s good to share your knowledge with others, maybe this could help some people”. This post wont be related to tarot, spirituality or kpop.
Tarot is not the only thing I have some experience in. And I do think I’m the right person to talk about this. I went from around 74 to 60 kilos (my current weight although not my best shape) and I’m like to think of myself of a fit person. Nothing crazy. I’m not very toned but I know how to work out and eat to not go crazy.
And I’m speaking up because I’ve noticed over the years many misconceptions about loosing weight. I saw people promote ways that could lead to eating disorders and health issues.
Disclaimer: this post isn’t made to throw hate on people that use that methods. That’s not my point. I want to debunk some of the things I’ve read on tumbrl on heard on TikTok that make my blood boil. And I’ll share some of my tips that are way easier and sustainable.
Disclaimer #2: I’m not a dietitian, personal trainer or a doctor so obviously even I can say something ridiculous or scientifically inaccurate but I’ll try my best 🩷
Here’s the list of me ranting:
Red color - avoid doing that, this is a result of the “diet culture” and in the end will just hurt your body
Green color - better way to loose weight based on my experience
Drinking a glass of water before a meal. Specifically so you can eat less food. Some people may disagree but that’s a terrible habit that could change your brain’s biochemistry. You’re teaching your own mind it’s good to eat less. And this could seem small but in reality could become dangerous. Eating disorders are hard to get out of because firstly it’s a psychological problem and secondly sick people create dopamine whenever they don’t eat enough. They are literally high, just like a drug addict. That’s why they often need rehabilitation. And just like a drug addict you can go from drinking a glass of water to not eating for an entire day.
Restricting yourself from eating the foods you like, because they seem “healthy”. You’ll eat them anyway because you enjoy it and one day you will just break, eat more that usual, you’ll feel guilty and then you’ll stop eating. Then you’ll body will tell you to eat more, you will and the cycle repeats. There’s no such a thing as “healthy” or “unhealthy” food. We can divide them into carbohydrates, protein and fat. No food is bad, the amount of it is. Let’s say you’re like me and you love chocolate. I eat it everyday. Because it’s not bad. Eating sugar (carbs) isn’t bad, if you have one piece of candy. Having a whole bag of candy is bad, because you only eat carbohydrates. A healthy diet is a well balanced diet. If you eat apples everyday that’s unhealthy, because you give your body vitamins that only exist in apples. You have to eat an apple on Monday, on Tuesday eat a banana, and on Wednesday eat an orange. It’s not about the food, it’s about the balance of eating everything.
What helps you keep that balance is a 80/20 rule. Only 80% of meals should be well planned and high nutrient. 20% is that Oreo cookie that you want. It’s impossible to eat healthy meals all the time. This method makes you feel like you don’t restrict yourself too much to loose weight so it’s easier to stay motivated.
Cookie is not an apple. Never say you’ll eat an apple when you crave that cookie. It’s not going to satisfy you at all. You want a cookie so you go to eat it. If you want to eat fried chicken for dinner, are you going to be happy about getting a salad? Eat it but keep in you mind the rule above. If you eat that cookie the next snack you should have is that apple.
Changing your entire routine. This also makes things harder. Not impossible, I know people that quit smoking in one day. But changing your whole routine is a shock for your body. This includes your diet and exercising. If you’ll go to the gym and spend an hour running on a treadmill, then you’ll move to lifting weights for another hour, choosing more advanced and complicated exercises, you’ll start hating it. Not from the start, but slowly you’ll grow resentment because you’ll be too hard on yourself. This will feel like a punishment and it’s not supposed to be. Working out should be fun and eating well should be natural.
Small steps. Trust me. Running for an hour is bad for you if you’re not fit enough to do so. But trying to run for 10 minutes or walking more. You’re moving so that’s already something. And by doing things slow, step by step you’re building a habit which gives better long term results.
Loosing a lot of weight in a short amount of time. If you see an influencer saying they lost 30 kg in 3 months because of a miracle diet, ignore them. It’s impossible to do that unless you don’t eat anything at all. And this will ruin your body. Most of people that loose their weight like that gain it back after they start eating normally again. I could do a separate post about the consequences of loosing weight too quickly.
Cutting protein, carbs or fat from your diet. Your body is like a house of cards. The base of the pyramid consists of protein, carbs, fat, water and vitamins. Let’s say you’re not eating carbs at all. It’s like pulling one card out of the fundaments. The whole construction will fall aparat as well as your body if you do this. Unless your doctor recommends you a certain diet, don’t stop eating every type of food.
Comparing your results. We are all different and some people will loose their weight faster some will slower. Don’t compare your results with strangers. We all have different DNA. Focus on your own journey and experiment to find the ways that work best for you.
Also find a form of exercising that is best for you that you enjoy the most. You can do weight lifting, pilates, calisthenics, whatever you’d like. There’s so many of them. Don’t stick to one activity. And finding something that you like makes loosing weight way easier, because it won’t feel like a chore. It’ll turn into a hobby
Overworking your body. If you owned a Yorkshire terrier would you make it pull the sleight like a Husky even though you know they won’t make it? Or would you try to squeeze a German shepherd into a doghouse that was made for a chihuahua? Everybody would call it animal abuse so don’t do it to yourself and listen to your body. We all have limits and genetic predispositions 🤷🏼‍♀️🩷
These are only some of the things I came up with. I could write more if I tried but then I’d feel as if the post is way too long.
And I’m going to post it under the kpop tarot tag because I’m aware how idols look like. There could be someone that should read this 🩷🩷

A Type One Diabetic's List of No-Nos for Non-Diabetics
This is a guide for non-diabetics to better understand what NOT to do when interacting with type 1 diabetics. This is meant for educational purposes and is based on my opinion and experience. If any T1Ds want to add their own suggestions, feel free!
(Note: The things on this list probably somewhat apply to type two diabetics too, I just have no experience with that so I can't comment.)
Dear non-diabetics, please:
Don't make insensitive jokes. Saying stuff about "getting diabeetus" because you're eating too much junk food is really annoying and simply not how it works. Yes, my friends and I make dumb diabetes jokes, but that's because they've talked to me and know I enjoy specific types of jokes.
Don't act like it's my fault/choice. I didn't get diabetes because I did anything wrong. Nothing about my lifestyle caused me to get diabetes. I was born with it. Implying otherwise really pisses me off, especially if you act like somehow I deserve this.
Don't touch my tech. Please don't touch any of my diabetes technology without my permission. It's literally attached to me!
Don't ask for/steal my food. I'm totally open to sharing snacks, but not after I've counted the carbs and not if I'm eating it because I'm low! In other words, I might need that food for my health, so please don't take it!
Don't pity me and treat me like I'm less capable. I'm not. I can do everything you can do. Yes, the disease sucks. I appreciate empathy and you can totally be mad at it with me, but please, no pity. Just be understanding if I'm struggling or having a bad diabetes day.
Don't compare the things I don't eat because of my diabetes to your voluntary diet. When I say that I don't drink full sugar pop (unless I'm low) telling me that "you understand, you're not drinking it either because you're trying to lose weight" isn't helpful. I totally understand that you're trying to sympathize, but it makes me really frustrated because you get a choice and I don't, so it's not the same in the slightest.
Don't call diabetics "Cyborgs" unless you have their permission or they call themselves that. It's a common label because many diabetics have technology attached to them to help them manage their diabetes, making them, technically, part machine like a cyborg. Some diabetics feel like it's dehumanizing and makes them feel different and disrespected. Others, like myself, (it's literally in my username) fully embrace the title as an excellent and fun part of their identity. Make sure that you know how someone feels before you call them that!
Don't be afraid to ask polite questions! As long as it's not the only thing you ever talk to me about, I'm totally happy to answer questions about my diabetes. There is a lot of misinformation and misunderstandings out there and I would love to try and clear it up and share accurate information!
I'm sure there is way more I'm not thinking of at the moment, but the baseline is: be kind! Being diabetic isn't easy, but interacting with kind people makes it better.
Thank you so much for reading!

Self Care Messages!!!
Pick a pile <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pile One
Spend time alone. Communicate your wishes of doing so healthily, so that you don't seem detached from loved ones because of them.
Practice journaling if you'd like to face the heavy emotions and finally process them, and specially, ask yourself why you feel like you're selfish for taking care of yourself.
You might be having some urges, such as a need to drink more water then usual, listen to calmer music or eat those carbs. Listen to these urges because they are showing you what you need.
Pile Two
Celebrate yourself. You're leaving a very painful period behind. Practice gratitude and rites of passage, such as paper burning or even something more elaborate, such as a bathing ritual in a waterfall. This will get your mind used to the new cycle, and of course it will attract the new phase more rapidly, as you're cleansing yourself from the old vibes.
I also recommend making wishes, manifestations, lists of things you'd like to happen in your new phase, and spells filled with positive energy, to attract great stuff when you cross that bridge.
Pile Three
Man, I hate to deliver these messages, but the greatest act of self care for you would be getting out of this relationship you're in. It's toxic, full of love bombing and trauma bonds. Choose yourself. You will not be a bad person if you leave.
Boundaries, boundaries, boundaries. Create them, and stick to them. If someone disrespect your boundaries is time to leave. Do not sacrifice yourself for no one.

Sounds weird but I’m trying to lose weight after becoming basically very fat from pandemic and mental health issues and just wondering if you and others have any workout recommendations or tips ? I will do it all safely and I eat properly too!
So I gained some weight as well during the pandemic. Here are some things that helped me get back on track.
I bought a Peloton bike, however the app is amazing and I downloaded it to my TV to do other exercises. I also have a Fit Bit to keep track of my steps/exercise. I also make sure to take the dog on a 2 mile walk 3-4x per week...used to be longer but it is hard with my schedule now we are back to in office. One thing is that I am SUPER competitive with others and myself so that helps me try and reach my daily goals. Also you can turn cleaning house or chores into an easy workout. There are also exercises you can find on Pinterest. Like 30 day challenges that are really good depending on where you want to tone.
A thing that is VERY important is a food scale. I weight ALL of my food to the serving size and keep a mental (used to write it down) track of my daily caloric intake.
Foods high in fiber are SUPER important. I eat a Baby Spinach salad every day that I weigh out that has an assortment of veggies. I usually do a protein smoothie in the morning. You can find a list of lean meats that you should try and stick to. The leaner the better and the more ounces you can have. That fattier the meat the more you need to eat less.
Do your BMI and see how much fiber you should be getting daily.
I also have pretty much cut out bread/pasta as much as I can. Every now and then I indulge but carbs sit like a lead weight for me.
I have a printed grocery list so I know exactly what I need each week to stay within budget but also to make healthy choices.
I only have water & milk in the house so no sodas or juices which contain tons of sugar. The milk is for my kiddo but I use personally almond milk. Even got my dad to switch to it from normal milk to help with his high blood pressure. You need to make sure you drink half your body weight in water daily. This will help more than you know.
An app that can help with better food choices is Fooducate. You can scan the barcode of food that is ranked by nutritionists. See where it is scored and search for healthier alternatives. You can also enter in all the food you eat during the day and it will show you where you need to adjust.
Another thing is to keep an itemized budget. When you add up all the $ you spend on eating out/unhealthy, it really knocks some sense into you how much $ you are wasting with bad habits.
When you start to clean eat and exercise, you will feel like crap for a few days but the energy you will have after about 4-5 days will change your life. Believe me.
