My version of Alfred is incredibly well-educated much like his cousins Henry/Massachusetts, Rosalie/ Rhode Island, & Josh/ Connecticut cause the Puritans were quite big on education. They actually had the most literate colonies. So Alfred is familiar Greek, Latin, the classics, mathematics etc.
However also like his cousins, at heart, he’s a stubborn asshole of a New Englander and can be adverse to new ideas, or new ways of understanding. And also this stubbornness leads him to thinking he’s always right, and he will get attached to stupid ideas and stupid things and just dig himself further into a hole. Also Alfred is a bit of a hyperactive person so he wasn’t really the best student of all time.
ANYWAYS THIS IS TO SAY. In theory, Alfred can tell you all he knows of philosophers of antiquity, name all the English kings, and of ancient Roman emperors and their battle strategies, but in the same breath he will tell you with full confidence that they speak Mexican in Mexico, and Brazilian in Brazil. And it’d be real hard to convince him otherwise.
