(i): If you want to add some weight and balance to your creature, stuff according to the instructions below. Otherwise, stuff as normal with fiber fill.

(ii): First make a pellet packet. Cut a length of pantyhose, making a tight knot in one end. Fill the pocket with enough poly pellets to give weight to the body, but avoid overstuffing at this will stretch out and make gaps in the body. Close the pocket with a knot on the open end of the pantyhose and cut away any excess material.

(iii): Stuff some fiberfill into the front end of the body before inserting the pellet fill packet, then lightly stuff fiberfill between the packet and top inside of the body.

Assembly

(1) Pin the legs to the body with the long side pointed forward and parallel with the body. The left and right leg of each pair should be 2 to 3 stitches apart. Pin the front legs between R4 and R9 of the body. Pin back legs between R12 and R17. Sew to attach, hide thread ends in body.

(2) Pin the head to the body, connecting R3 and R10 of the body to the R22 and R19 of the head, respectively. Sew to attach, hide thread ends in body.

(3) Pin eyes 3 to 4 stitches apart between R10 and R16 of the head. Sew to attach, hide thread ends in head.

(4) Use a long length of white yarn to embroider highlights in the upper left portion of each eyes. Hide thread ends in head.

(5) Use a length of black yarn to embroider mouth 2 to 3 rows below the eyes. Hide thread ends in head.

(6) Fluff up your scrungly little creature (they will be a little squished from all the sewing) and enjoy!

Rose Ribbon Embroidery "Mini" Projects (for BABY NYFW) Part 2: Embroidered Bonnet

I decided semi-last minute to attend BABY's fashion show at NYFW!

BABY had mentioned in their NYFW brand description that their newest collection would be a return to their origins, as well as presenting archival items.

You have to dress to impress for NYFW, right? So of course, I had to pull out all the stops and wear my Rose Ribbon Embroidery.

Also at the last minute, I decided to make a few extra complementing items...

A matching RRE kumya JSK, and a bonnet.

What follows is more of a sew-along/journal rather than a tutorial or guide, mainly for my own memory's sake. But if you enjoy looking at my process (sometimes sloppy), I'm happy!

This post will be my process pictures and notes for the bonnet, as well as a matching mask as a bonus.

I don't believe BABY released matching headwear for Rose Ribbon Embroidery, although I've seen an unknown velveteen headbow with rose lace sold with RRE before.

BABY usually coords RRE with the bunny ear bonnet since Ichigo wears it this way in Kamikaze Girls.

I do own this because I wanted to wear an Ichigo-like outfit at some point, but for this occasion I decided to do something different and make a "matching" embroidered bonnet.

I originally wanted to make a hard bonnet with a very defined brim that could show off the embroidery clearly as I don't really like soft bonnets, but when looking at existing BABY bonnets as a reference, it doesn't look like hard bonnets were a thing back in 2004 (and as it is, BABY rarely releases hard bonnets). So to keep with the oldschool theme, the bonnet is a soft one, although I later make some decisions to make it slightly more structured.

The next decision to make was full bonnet vs half bonnet. The bunny ear bonnet is a full bonnet and I think this is technically more "period accurate", but I am not a fan of how they look like a weird hood from the back so I opted for half (plus, that makes construction and patterning easier for me).

I still used my own bunny ear bonnet as a reference for approximate brim dimensions!

The kumya JSK was a little easier to carelessly sketch out and embroider since I was copying 1:1 from an existing design, but I felt I needed to do at least a bit more careful planning for the embroidery on this. I'm quite bad at creating embroidery designs from scratch, but with the mental image of the rose clusters and swags of vine, as well as referencing the embroidery from the film, I came up with this:

I wanted to emulate the embroidery style of the Momoko's (well, in reality likely the embroidery designer Onoe Megumi--unclear if she did the actual embroidery, but it's likely) embroidery, which I figured wouldn't be too difficult if I was also embroidering by hand.

For material, I am using the same velveteen I used for kumya's JSK. Not my first choice and I actually purchased some thicker looking 100% cotton velvet that I thought would be more similar to the original JSK material, but was worried it wouldn't arrive in time and wanted this project out of the way in case things went wrong/took longer than I expected (it did arrive about a week before the event, but it was totally wrong IRL so I'm glad I just went with this acceptable option). I also bought some more torchon lace, so I used that and another lace from my stash.

The colours of the embroidery in the film also seem to be quite different than BABY's dress. I'm not sure if the pink of the roses has faded over the years, but it has a slight salmon tone whereas the film's roses seem to be more of a pale cool/neutral pink (hard to tell with the yellow tint of the entire film) with some variegation. I love the colour scheme of the film's embroidery, but to keep things coordinated I try to opt for the same colours as the actual dress I have.

I only have white silk ribbon in the width I wanted, so I opted to attempt to dye it to match. Previously I have used alcohol markers to colour the embroidery afterwards, but I find the colour hard to control and it tends to bleed into the fabric. I've also tried colouring the ribbon with the marker before embroidering, but without heat setting the colour transfers onto the fabric as well (and it seems like trying to do so with the amount of ribbon I need would be a waste of ink).

I don't have a lot of experience with it, but since the ribbon is silk, acid dyeing seemed like the way to go.

Very interesting photo of ribbon in pot (the pink ribbon gets eaten up by pinwheel roses much faster than I expected so this is the second batch I had to dye--not ideal as they are definitely slightly different in colour but it's not too noticeable). In total, I think I had to dye 3 batches of ribbon and 4 for the pink ribbon as I just barely ran out near the end, and they are all slightly different colours. Thankfully the undertone is the same so it's difficult to tell unless you are really comparing up close.

I thought I would take this opportunity to use the "peach" acid dye that I bought years ago for another project, but this ended up being a mistake as the colour was totally off (maybe the red dye was too expired). I ended up using my regular fiber reactive procion dyes (with heat/acid), because I have many more colours I could mix together, and that was much better. I really should have done this from the start as I wasted perfectly good silk ribbon by making it too dark/off for my purposes (I ended up overdyeing it in pink so it's a usable colour now, but not for this project).

The silk seems to take on dye extremely fast--even just heating up the dyebath will colour it. In some cases I removed the ribbon before adding any acid at all because I felt the ribbon was already getting too dark.

I managed to get a fairly usable mossy green colour for the leaves and vines, however the pink still ended up being a little off/dark compared to whatever BABY used. It's not too bad here as one strand of ribbon, but when many layers are on top of each other in a rose it seems pretty dark. While not ideal, I think it's still okay, especially considering the embroidery colours used in kumya's JSK match nothing else (many pinks will be going on in this coord).

After dyeing and drying, the ribbon is super wrinkled so I ironed it and wound it on some spare card so it's ready to use.

And now I can start the arduous process of embroidery.

Like before, I mainly use a combination of ordinary ribbon stitches, pinwheel roses, and french knot roses. However, this time I try harder to duplicate, or at least evoke the appearance of the embroidery of the film.

It's interesting how plain and somewhat boring the roses look on their own, especially with this monotone colouring. The varied colours of the film's embroidered roses are lovely, but I decided against it here because the BABY dress has monotone ribbon roses.

The roses definitely seem to just be pinwheel style which is very easy and doable, however I am a bit more confused about the leaves. They look like a number of straight stitches in various lengths and directions that fill in a leaf-like shape. I have no idea if this technique has a name and if there is a proper method for it, because I am a silly beginner who is very uneducated in embroidery.

Anyway I do my best and hopefully I got close enough. Ribbon embroidery is really all about the texture, which is really lovely to look at. Except I have trouble looking at my own work for too long because I start nitpicking all the mistakes I made...

Adding the green and leaves really helps the embroidery come to life.

I took even fewer pictures of the embroidery process than kumya's JSK this time because it's not that interesting. I was definitely getting sick of doing the same pinwheel over and over...

I stupidly decided that aside from embroidering the front of the brim, I also wanted a little bit of embroidery on the back of the brim for interest, as well as on the side.

The designs I drafted out for these two pieces is much simpler, but still, more work....

Almost ready for construction! Hopefully a lot faster with the handwork out of the way.

I iron on some interfacing onto the back brim panel and the bonnet band for slight extra stiffness.

The bottom part of the brim is plain cotton sateen because I was worried that the part that touches the head would get dirtier more quickly it if was velveteen.

I wanted some lace gathered around the brim and an extra velveteen ruffle on the back of the band, so I prepare that now. The lace is gathered with a single gathering thread and sewn down before sandwiching between the two brim panels.

The upper flowers ended up a little closer to the top of the band then I intended, but I think it's okay.

Gathering brim and attaching it to band. Because the velvet fabric is so thick, the usual "sew one line of stitching with a wide stitch length" not only made the fabric incredibly difficult to gather, but the thin polyester thread also continually broke when trying to do so. Therefore, I opted for an alternative method I think I'd remember seeing in my sewing machine manual of all things--a zigzag carefully stitched over a central gathering thread. This worked much better, although I probably should have used a thicker/extra strong thread as the central gathering thread because it did break the second time I had to gather the brim due to a mistake.

I also add a bit of lace to the inside of the brim. I think this adds some luxury and frilliness between the head and the bonnet's brim, so I wanted to add a small width. I probably could have used even more of the lace's width since it turned out very subtle when worn. But I still think it adds a small amount of interest to the innermost part of the brim and was worth adding.

Unfortunately here after sewing on both brim parts I realize that I gathered both using an incorrectly marked centre line, so I had to rip it out and do it again ;_;

Next, I can carefully align and pin the bottom of the brim to the bonnet and sew it down. I tack this down by hand because I'm not skilled/accurate enough with a sewing machine to topstitch both sides nicely at once (look closely, and my messy stitching is quite visible...)

I also fold in the raw edges and finish the sides of the brim by hand, leaving some openings for ribbon ties.

At this point I spray almost the whole bonnet with water to disperse and fade my markings. Unfortunately, some of the earlier batches of ribbon that I dyed (Can you tell the variance in the 3 dye batches I needed to do?) were probably not washed well after dying and seem to have bled into the fabric from the water...but hopefully it's not too noticeable.

Next I topstitched all around the brim and attached the ribbon ties.

I bought some double sided velvet ribbon in my last minute supplies shipment and made some bows from it. I think the material is a little thick and petersham would have worked alright as well, but the consistent velvet material feels more luxurious, doesn't it? I also think as an added benefit (?) the ribbon being plush and double sided made the bows more puffy looking.

I add some clips to the sides and a toupee clip to the top for security. I opted for a toupee clips because I think it's really the way to go if you don't want the head item to move at all, no matter how thin or slippery your hair.

Finished.

Bonus 1: rose accent pin

I was in a bit of a rush at this point as it was near the end of the week coming up to the show, so I didn't take any photos of the process here but the technique and templates I used were identical to my handmade faux rose rosettes I made for UM (and the bonus corsages). I have a post with all the details of this sitting in my drafts that I will post eventually, and I will update this post when that happens.

The brooch was just meant to add a bit of 3D faux flower accent to the bonnet, bringing in the rose motif even more. Partially inspired by the faux flowers BABY adds to their bonnets sometimes, like on Milk Tea Doll.

The fabric was "custom dyed" with the same fiber reactive dye I used for the silk. The fabric was further starched, cut out by hand, and shaped with flower iron tools before gluing together.

Bonus 2: matching embroidered mask

I wasn't sure about whether or not I wanted to wear a matching mask, but decided to do so for situations when I would want my face at least half-covered in public. I didn't really expect to be visible in fashion show pictures as someone in the back, but just in case. (I think this decision was worth it, although my makeup transferred all over the thing and in most pictures my face was even more unflattering. eh well)

I forgot to take a lot of pictures of my process for this, but it's very uninteresting and not dissimilar from every other mask sewalong from 2020. I draft out a design similar to the bonnet motifs on both of my mask panels (cotton sateen), and embroider.

I should have embroidered closer to the centre of the mask because when worn the embroidery is not very visible/covered by my hair at the sides. What can I do since the panels were already cut though...oh well!

The lining material is some Japanese CLEANSE Ex fabric I had bought previously to make masks during the pandemic. It's supposed to be antibacterial and antiviral, as well as washable, but I have no idea how well supported those claims are.

Sew together normally on both upper and lower sides, turn inside out, add a channel for nose wire and side channels for elastic.

I also have some mask elastic on hand so I use that.

And the finished outfit again with all my items~

I'm crying laughing, the DVDs are even worse than I remember... Season 1's menus are silent with a single static jpg of the same key character art they use for everything else, and the episodes on the Season 2 discs don't even match what's listed on the box! Absolutely stunning lack of shits given. Truly unparalleled. But I really shouldn't be surprised given... well... everything about how this series has been treated since the very beginning.

Time for a quick ~✨PHANDOM HISTORY LESSON✨~ to give newer/less hyperfixated folks more context for why the graphic novel being as great as it is is such a HUGE deal:

Danny Phantom was one of Nickelodeon's MAIN cartoons, in its time. It was a central pillar. One of the top three or four of their lineup, which is saying something when the competition includes the cultural juggernaut that is Spongebob.

Despite this, and despite its superhero theming making it perfectly marketable, it got basically ZERO official merch.

What little we did get was often ugly and very, very cheap. The dedication at the start of the graphic novel that jokes about collecting the Burger King toys? That's because it was some of the most notable merch the franchise EVER had. (I sadly do not have any of it. There was no BK in my hometown. Here's a pic from the internet, though, to give you an idea.)

If you think I'm exaggerating about that being the most significant physical merch to come out of the series, consider that the first video game had an entire menu option specifically for the Burger King promotional tie-in:

That video game, by the way, was one of only two ever based on the show. The first was an adaptation of "The Ultimate Enemy" in the style of a short sidescrolling beat-em-up, and the second was themed around "Urban Jungle" and (as far as I can tell--I've only played the first couple levels) was an arcade-style scrolling shooter. Both were for the Gameboy Advance, and both are...... fine, as far as cash-grabby video game tie-ins to kids' shows go. This was pretty normal for the time, so I suppose we did okay in that department, actually. They're not GOOD, but they're playable and have at least a bit of effort put into them.

But besides those two video games (plus a handful of simple, long-defunct Flash games on nick.com)? In the decade and a half since the show ended?

Nothing.

No books, no games, no comics, no web shorts--unless you count mega-crossovers with every other Nicktoon (a la Nicktoons Unite), or soulless promotional material like "Fairly Odd Phantom" (which, trust me, despite being the first new DP animation in over 10 years was not even worth the effort of watching).

...I think there was a limited edition FunkoPop once?

So yeah.

A Glitch in Time is not just the first cool, well-made thing we've seen from the franchise in a while. It's the first THING we've seen since the show. PERIOD. And arguably the first worthwhile supplementary material to EVER come out of the show, depending on how you feel about those GBA games and the Nicktoons crossovers.

This franchise is widely beloved even now, almost 20 years after it first aired, and it feels like that fact is now, finally, FINALLY getting some official recognition.

PLEASE read A Glitch in Time. Tell other people about it. The series--no, the fans--deserve this (and more of this, if the folks in charge see enough of a response and decide to grace us with any followup). It's LONG overdue, but better late than never.

"I don't know which color is better!" you said once again looking at the various lipstick shades all over Sephora while your poor boyfriend followed after you like a lost puppy trying to go home already.

"You know that I always vote for red amor" he says going behind you and resting his chin on your shoulder and you smile moving a little to kiss his cheek.

"Hmm but which shade of red amor??" you ask showing his all the options but they all look the same to the poor boy.

"I have an idea..can I see your hand amor?" you say turning around and he looked confused sad that he was no longer holding you.

"Why do you need my hand preciosa?" he asked with his bushy eyebrows furrowed.

"Because I already did swatches on mine and I need you to help me choose the perfect shade" you explain but his face only became more confused until you grabbed his veiny hand and tried one of the lipstick on his tan skin.

"Ah now I see! I like that one!" he says looking at the stain on his own hand but you were already grabbing a few others to try on and compare. Pablo was watching you in amusement while you tried them on his skin playfully.

"So what do you think amor?" you say and you were both looking at his arm filled with all different shades of red lipstick.

"That I should really wash my hand?" he answered cheekily and you hit his shoulder for acting all smart with you.

"Be serious Pablo! It's the dinner with your parents and I need a perfect red!" you whine and he rolls his eyes nodding his head and inspecting them all seriously this time.

"I think this one matched the dress I got for you last Valentine's Day?" he says and you nod thinking of how excited you were to wear it for Pablo after opening the fancy looking box. You still couldn't believe your boy was spoiling you so much!

"That one it is then! Thank you cariño!" you kiss his lips forgetting that you had some red lipstick on making his mouth on top of his hand completely red now.

"Can I help you with anything else?" the cashier asked and you shook your head opening your bag to look for your walled but Pablo pulled you close to him with one hand while giving his credit card with the swatched one making the cashier chuckle.

"You're a good boyfriend!" cashier said winking at you and you giggled nodding your head and resting your head on Pablo's chest before you walked out of the store hand in hand.

chrollo loves you in classy, elegant, yet formfitting outfits that highlight the silhouette of your body. slim blazers, short pencil skirts, sheer tights, pumps. will be smiling happily to himself if you struggle with heels since you're forced to cling to him, or trip. purposefully gets outfits that are difficult for you to put on by yourself (like having a zipper in the back) so you must begrudgingly call upon him for assistance.

pretends he 'forgot' to include some pants or shorts as potential options but it was 100% intentional. don't believe his lies. he loves anything that reveals your collarbones but not if you're going out. only he gets to see them, no one else. he mostly goes for neutral colors with a heavy emphasis on black, ivory, beige, navy, and sometimes burgundy if he's feeling a bit wild.

as far as accessories go, he favors dangling earrings and choker-length necklaces. you don't get to wear watches anymore because when he last gifted you one, you kept checking it every time he started talking, and it kinda hurt his feelings. he is a fan of you putting your hair up because he loves admiring the muscles of your neck and it grants him easier access for kissing.

phinks originally gives you some t-shirts and sweatpants because hell if he knows how to dress a woman. he doesn't want you thinking he's some pervert that kidnapped you purely for sexual gratification — no, there's a deeper connection he's trying to foster with you here. that being said... if he could have it his way, his biggest fantasy is having you wear those tennis outfits. preferably with white or pink colors. he just thinks you'd look really cute. the short, pleated skirt brushing against your thighs, tight polo shirt, a pair of high top tennis shoes; he'd be in heaven. phinks will want to scoop you up and twirl you around or some other romantic-sounding shit.

doesn't really have any preferences when it comes to accessories. his biggest thing is in the colder seasons, seeing you wrapped up in a scarf is super endearing. it makes his heart almost beat out of his chest. jewelry isn't a big deal to him. he'll gift you a fair amount because he figures Woman = Want Shiny Thing (as if you're a crow), but it doesn't do much for him visually. aside from stud earrings with simple designs, like a flower or moon. he thinks that's pretty cute.

feitan doesn't think about fashion much. he literally wears the same thing every day and only washes his bloodstained jacket if you ask nicely (aka plead). he gets you some long shirts and calls it a day. when you ask if you can have shorts or anything similar to that, he silently stares at you. unlike chrollo, it really didn't occur to him. if he's in a good mood he'll pick up what you asked for. probably gets an uncomfortable material or the wrong size but it isn't out of spite, he genuinely has no idea what he's doing.

he discovers by accident that the sight of you in a sheer nightgown is especially appealing. other than that, the only preference he's aware of is seeing you in light colors. it gives you this innocent glow that he finds aesthetically pleasing. the way it further highlights how different you are — pure (by his standards, at least), virtuous — really does something for him. he has a weird obsession with your wrists so he's gotten you a few silver link bracelets. that's the most you get to accessorize should you ever choose to wear them.

machi lets you wear whatever you want and listens to your clothes requests, because she's too embarrassed to admit what she'd find you cute in. no one could get the information out of her, even if it came down to torture. so... what she wants more than anything (drumroll please)... is to see you wearing one of those short overall outfits over a plain shirt. she'd be staring at you as if you were the mona lisa. she has no idea why the concept entices her as much as it does. all she knows is that you'd look fucking adorable and she'd commit multiple crimes for you.

she likes you in denim, any color really. jean shorts, ripped jeans, skinny jeans, flared jeans, wide jeans, high waist, low waist; she's all about it. oversized tops are a big favorite as well. extra points if the sleeves are too long and cover most of your hand. you think she's glaring at you but in reality she's trying so hard to keep her fraying mind in check.

pakunoda has you looking runway ready whenever she takes you out. the woman did research. a lot of what you wear is tailored specifically to your complexion, body type, facial structure, etc. she enjoys high fashion and has procured pieces made by the biggest names. most of what's in your closet is either wool, pure cotton, or silk. it looks and feels luxurious. she favors seeing you in jumpsuits or maxi-length dresses. coordinating outfits is a favorite of hers, she has color theory down and you both look stunning together. around the house (or wherever she's keeping you), you're free to dress as you please. you both have matching house slippers and robes.

accessories will depend on the season, but you can expect to be wearing sleek sunglasses and the occasional hat. for jewelry, she goes for her birthstone, diamonds, and gold. nothing too ostentatious though. she keeps it classy. while she'd love to see you in stilettos, if you can't walk in them well, she'll go for flat pumps instead.

It’s good news for everyone with birthdays between October 23 and November 21, because the Enchanterium zodiac Scorpio doll has been released in the form of an alien cheerleader!

Here’s the concept designs, and Alex and Barb decided to go with the hair bun option so we’ll be seeing a lot of neon. Are you ready?

“When I found Wydowna Spider in our stash I knew she would be a perfect candidate for both Scorpio and the alien prompt. We bought her a million years ago and never used it because she’s a rare doll in our country, and I’m always scared of using these rare dolls for customization because I know some collectors would love to have them. But I guess I don’t care that much because I’m going to use her anyway.”

“Cheerleading is not really a thing in Poland because we also don’t really have sports in our schools the same way it’s done in the US. So the only reference I have is watching tv shows like Glee and that one big Netflix documentary series we all watched in lockdown.”

“I am cutting out what I have prepared for myself, but I didn’t think it through, and if it doesn’t work out, I’ll be in trouble, because I don’t have any more of this material. But today I decided that I will believe in myself.”

“She already has six arms, and that’s pretty out of this world, but I want her to have pincers like the scorpion that she is. … You may be wondering where the second part of the pincer is. She can’t pinch if there’s only one. Aha I have prepared nightmare fuel because I’m going to use monster high hands.”

“I didn’t even notice I do it (gradient) in every design but recently we got a comment saying they look like a set of characters because of their individuality and gradients, and I was like ‘oh no is gradient a defining feature of Enchanterium style that’s so 2010.’”

“Usually scorpions have 2-12 eyes so of course we’re making 12. Like is there another option?”

“It’s now finally time to stand up to our demons and take care of the hairstyle.”

I’m glad Barb and Alex are leaning into the zodiac high theme, I think it’s such an interesting concept that works since the doll bases are all monster high. I’d totally watch an animated mini series about these characters. Plus it’s fun to think up roles for all the dolls they’ve already made! My favorite part of this doll is a tie between the scorpion claws and the six thousand decorative pins in the doll’s head. What’s yours?

I kinda projected myself (like I’ve honestly been in all of my hobie fanfics, but bcs I too, am a punk and do art occasionally) my eco-punk tendencies keep showing, and I’m honestly not gonna stop anytime soon (as you can tell from the constant mention of plants in my writing). This took me forever but I’ve been hella busy 😭

Art is Freedom — Hobie x GN!Reader

"Art is Freedom" was the signature of the anonymous artist Hobie desired to meet. There was something about their art that simply fascinated him. From murals made out with plants, to your standard mural with spray paint. In galleries, this same artist did installations with all sorts of recycled materials. From newspaper, cardboard, paper, sometimes even stuff like aluminium and glass. Others screen printing on recycled fabric and old shirts, and most recently digital art, with the option of buying prints.

What Hobie liked about this artist was how cold and straightforward could they be with their art to express their thoughts and feelings. With a strong commentary on environmentalism. Also very graphic art talking about feminism and domestic violence. He loved the passion put into these pieces, he gawked at the raw energy expiring from the art pieces.

However, tracking them down was particularly hard. They were good at covering up their tracks. Although Hobie knew what that was like, so he started thinking in a similar way this anonymous artist would do. Sometimes feeling guilty for wanting to uncover this artist’s identity, he wouldn’t like it if someone was waiting for him to make a mistake at covering his tracks and found out who he was. But at the same time, he genuinely wanted to meet this person, have a talk with them, sure that Spider-Man and this artist would get along very well.

One fortuitous day, at the art gallery Hobie liked to frequent, there was a new exposition. This one was a photography show. It was the first time this artist showcased pictures. The theme was punk. And most of the photos were from concerts. Spider-Man was even in most of them. Not only was this artist a fan of his band, but from the pictures, Hobie was able to get an idea of who this artist was.

The group of hardcore punks who always showed up to his concerts, art shows, or were wrecking havoc during manifestations, was for the most part the same crowd. Some faces and even names became familiar not only to him but to everyone else.

And you had a face easy to recognise. You had a reputation for always being in the middle of the mosh pit, jamming and jumping like everybody else. However, you were taking pics. Right in the middle of the mosh, you managed to take the best pictures from the stage and the crowd. How did you manage to take those pics while getting out, not only yourself but your camera intact? It was a mystery many people liked to think about.

Hobie had seen you at almost every gig. And he’d seen the magnificent work you did with the photos. However, for the two years he’s been following this anonymous artist, he’d never seen photos. However, for the three or four years you’ve been following his band, he’d seen you in the crowd and seeing your work.

And now standing in front of your exposition, he could clearly identify the peculiar style of the pictures. Those pictures clearly were taken from the depths of a mosh pit. And keeping cameras intact and photos this good of a mosh pit could only be you.

His eyes widened at the realisation. He knew you all along, and had been watching your work from afar for so long. He didn’t personally know you, but he’d seen you around so much to think you were a cool lad, the pins on your jacket were rad, and that you had good taste in music. And of course, he thought you were a talented photographer.

But now that he’d put two and two together, not only were you a magnificent photographer, but an overall artist. The respect and admiration he felt for you duplicated, as he’d thought he was admiring at two different artist while it was actually one and the same.

“Oh! Look at these!” Some people in the gallery said as they neared the pictures and paid close attention to them. “Dude, this pics are sick! Kinda like the ones you always take!”

He diverted his gaze and saw a couple of people leaning closer to take in the details, and a third person wearing a hoodie. Hands hidden in the pouch and hood over their head.

“They’re pretty good,”

Hobie raised an eyebrow as he paced around the gallery, trying to get closer, wondering if it could be you underneath that hoodie.

As he got closer, pretending to glance at the pictures, he saw you from the corner of his eyes and smirked. Your poker face was actually very good, but he could see right through it.

“You think the artist knows how meaningful their art is to others?” Hobie said in a low voice as he glanced at you.

“They better! They’re fucking awesome!” One of your friends said, clueless of what Hobie was trying to do.

“I’m sure they’ve got some idea,” You said meeting Hobie’s stare.

“Well, they sure are my favourite artist, I’ll tell you that…” He said confidently. “I’ve seen you around in gigs, haven’t I?”

“Yeah, probably. I’m always around in gigs…” You said shyly.

“Especially Spider-Man! You love that guy!” One of your friends said, as you felt your cheeks warming up slightly.

“Do you?” Hobie asked.

“His style is very unique. And he’s amazing. He’s been a huge inspiration for me,” reluctantly, you admitted.

“Really? That’s cool. I’m Hobie,” His smirk flashed across his face with a slight arrogant yet full of charm.

“Nice meeting you,” You introduced yourself to him, telling him your name. “I like your style…” You said, pulling one of your hands out of the pouch of your hoodie and pointed at his pins.

“Thanks,” He said, repeating your name. “So, you said Spider-Man was an inspiration…”

“I do art sometimes,” You shrugged. “I wish I could live off of it but, it’s hard,”

“The world is so unkind to artist, unless you decide to sell yourself like a whore,”

You looked at Hobie, thinking there was something strangely familiar and yet refreshing of him. He was tall, he was skinny, but definitely looked like the guy you wouldn’t want to get in a fight with. And yet, he didn’t look all that intimidating. In fact, you felt curious.

“Yeah, pretty much…” You agreed.

“Wanna go for a beer sometime?”

It was hard for you not to smirk as you looked away. Your friends now further away, having read the room and left you alone with Hobie.

“Excuse me?” You armed yourself with courage to look back at him and meet his stare, his eyes a lighter shade of brown compared to the rest of his skin. He was gorgeous, you thought.

“You seem like a pretty interesting person, I’d like to know you better and know a bit more about the art you make, if that’s okay of course…” He shrugged, nonchalantly, able to read your slightly shy and awkward demeanour.

“Do I know you?” You asked.

Hobie chuckled softly. Knowing exactly what you meant, wondering if you were able to somehow relate him to Spider-Man already.

“Yeah, I introduced myself two minutes ago,” he teased, as you chuckled and rolled your eyes playfully.

“No—I me-mean yeah…” You giggled “But…Before that?”

Hobie shrugged.

“Why you ask?”

“I don’t know…” You sighed looking at him curiously, attentively. “Something about you feels oddly familiar…”

“Perhaps,” He shrugged “who knows, there’s only one way to find out…” He winked.

You smirked.

“Later today? At the Hayfield?” You said, naming your favourite bar, agreeing to his invitation.

“Someone likes artisan beer,” Hobie pointed out with an approving nod.

“Isn’t that the best kind of beer?” This time, you shrugged nonchalantly “Besides, Hayfield supports all the local beer producers and amateurs too”

“Nice. See you then,” Hobie said. “9 works for you?”

“9 it is” You smirked, feeling your chest stirring slightly.

“Nice meeting ya” He said turning around, with a triumphant smirk.

“Nice meeting you too…”

AT au where instead of Betty, it's actually FINN who sacrifices himself and makes the wish with the crown.

I've seen some au's about Simon doing this, but we're forgetting the secret third option I guess?

now obviously, the loss of Finn will have an impact on most, if not all of the citizens of Ooo. but I'd like to think that Finn's intention is to make this wish, not just for the safety of one person, but to keep all of Ooo safe and free from any more chaos. I've seen some shows where the hero "dies" on the end (though in this case, there'd be the idea that he IS still conscious and able to watch over everyone), and honestly it can be a great ending if played right.

here's how it would go down: Finn, Simon, and Betty are being digested by Golb. they're at the point where Betty and Simon have both returned to their sane, pre-Mushroom War selves and are having their reunion. Finn notices that the crown has reset, and also taking notice that he's not being "digested" because he hasn't changed all that much. he realizes that he has the chance to make a wish, make a true difference in Ooo and ensure the peace and safety of all his friends, something that he's clearly wanted through the whole series. he sees how happy Betty and Simon are now that they're reunited, and begins to put on the crown. when the tunnel opens up, he tells Betty and Simon to leave. he gives them some brief things to tell his friends and family on his behalf. he also tells them to finally get married, and to go on with their lives together. (I'd like to think he also, in Finn fashion, jokingly tells them to name their first kid after him :) )

after some coaxing, and tears, they finally give in and leave Golb. Finn makes his wish, which is "I wish for the power to keep Ooo safe", and merges with Golb in the same style Betry did (idk what he'd be called- maybe "Golbfinn"? a silly name kinda like goldfish lol). Jake would be torn, but I feel like he would also be a bit proud of Finn after a bit of grieving. as Finn said in the episode before (in canon), he used to be all about violence. and now, he's keeping the peace.

Gunther still gets the crown in this universe bc that's just funny

in the little Come Along With Me montage, we'd see the other characters rebuilding the tree house, along with the rest of Ooo that had gotten destroyed. I think they would start to worship Finn actually, he would become the hero that everyone would tell stories about, the stuff of legends. we'd also get to see the Petrigrof wedding! it also flashes forward to about a year or so later, we see that they do, in fact have a kid. a little girl named Fionna, who grows into her namesake and becomes hero- material herself.

There's gotta be a word for whatever the opposite of objectification is. Like, the obvious option is "Subjectification", but that's apparently the point in development where you realise you have a distinct individual personhood or something like that.

I just feel like there's this constant current within my experience of masculinity where my desires and actions are treated as much more significant and/or dangerous than they actually are. More than that, that in all aspects of my relationship to my community, the only acceptable or even coherent way to describe that relationship is in terms of my effect on others, and never the other way around. And that trickles down into so many weird little pockets of conflict.

One example of that has been biphobia, even from partners who are bi women, or jealousy, even from non-monogamous partners with a lot of dates, because a dude desiring or having sex with someone apparently just feels...more...notable/worth worrying about than a woman doing the exact same thing. Another one has been dealing with mental health struggles, in which female partners' depression is something to be lived with and nursed, while my own is this anxiety-inducing thing that I'm on some level doing *to* them.

It's kind of the converse of the shitty adage, "if he wanted to, he would." That concept being blown out to "if he wants to, he will," and even "This is a walking Agency Machine who happens To You. All actions are premeditated. All effects both material and emotional are intentional."

Like, it's one of the shitty byproducts of our inability to discuss the objectification of women outside of the sexual. Our society splits humans into subjects and objects. Speakers and Topics. Intentional, driven agents and passive, helpless commodities. And it's not that we should all be Subjects at all times or something, or that I want into the passive Object club, it's that we are all both subjects and objects.

We gendered that and split it in half. We associated being a subject with masculinity and being an object with femininity. And it's a pretty massive struggle for people to unlearn that on a foundational level even if they understand intellectually that that's bullshit.

Like, I have thought this way before, aimed this "Subjectification" style of thinking at others. But it was when I was a literal child and I thought this way about my literal parents. It's exhausting to face that framing in egalitarian relationships with fully grown women my own age.

Wonyoung starts her days by stretching, this can help to relieve any tension or pain from the night before. Stretching shouldn't take that long to do, so make sure to stretch for at least 5 minutes every day. If you don't know how to do it, you can follow along a tutorial like this one.

Next step is skincare, to create the perfect skincare routine you need to at least wash your face and then use moisturizer and sunscreen, use products based on your skin type and add more steps only if you find it really necessary.

Now it's time for breakfast! Wonyoung loves to drink a cup of soy milk every morning, she also likes to have light and clean breakfast, so a good idea is to have some fruits and yogurt.

Finally, it's time to get ready for the day! Choose a cute outfit and hairstyle that fits the occasion + do your makeup, find your own style and get inspiration from Pinterest!

First things first, organize your time so you have at least a week to study for exams or get your assignments done. Avoid procrastinating, the more time you have, the less work you'll have to do.

One time, when Wonyoung was asked about study tips, she said that it's important to find your own study style. Study methods don't work on everyone, so it's important to experiment with various methods until you find the one that works the best for you.

Now that we know our study style it's time to actually work and focus hard, for this we need to create the perfect study environment, clean and ventilate your room, turn some instrumental music on (or study with me videos for inspo), get some healthy snacks, water or literally anything to make yourself comfortable! (stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, etc.)

When studying, always focus on understanding the content and continuously solve sample questions, repeating the same material for various days actually helps to remember details better, but if you are in a rush or running out of time you can try and memorize the content.

Take breaks and get enough sleep, taking breaks in between study sessions it's actually more productive than not doing so, some productive ways of taking breaks are meditation, listen to music, reading, journal or taking a power nap, sleep is very important, you can't have a proper study session if you don't have the energy to do so.

Stop comparing yourself with others! You aren't in a competition with the rest, the only opponent you have is yourself, so your goals should always focus on breaking your own records and become even better than your past self.

✸ ꒰ workout routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆

When working out like wonyoung we should aim to improve our posture and be more flexible, this will help when doing Pilates or yoga just like she does. Also, we can focus on losing weight or just toning up our bodies if you don't find it necessary.

Wonyoung love Pilates, you can pick any Pilates workout on YouTube based on your time or in your specific body goals, but here's a Pilates routine inspired by her. Also, if you feel like doing a full body workout, here's another video inspired by wony!

If you don't really like to work out at home, the other options you have is that you can try and join a flying yoga class like Wonyoung! She also spends lots of her time doing dance practice, so choosing your favorite kind of dance could be an option too!

Choose one and start doing it continuously to start seeing results, also, it's very important to have non-physical goals, like feeling happier or meet new friends! Remember to always drink water!

✸ ꒰ shower and self care routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆

Time for some self-care! First, take off your makeup using micellar water or an oil based cleanser (only if you have dry skin!).

Then it's time to hop on the shower and start with our haircare routine, one of wonyoung's charms is her long healthy hair, so make sure to use the right products for your hair. Here's a quick haircare routine you can follow; massage your scalp using a scalp massager or your fingertips, then use the right amount of shampoo only on the scalp, next use a conditioner from middle to ends to moisturize and detangle your hair. If you identify a problem with your hair (for example too dry, difficult to manage, etc.) you can add using a hair mask to this routine!

While we leave the products in our heads for a few minutes, it's time for bodycare! always clean your body with soap and a loofa, if needed exfoliate your body 1-2 times a week for super soft skin! Next is shaving, shave only if needed and never do it when your skin is dry, if you don't have shaving cream, you can use conditioner, just make sure to rinse it very well after.

After we are done with the shower it's time for skincare, wash your face, you can also exfoliate your face 1–2 times a week (3 if your skin it's too oily). This is also the perfect time to use a face mask! Use a hydrating sheet mask if you feel that your skin is dry, or a clay mask if you feel your skin is oily. Finally, use a moisturizer.

With clean hands and our skincare done it's the perfect time for face massages! Massaging our faces can help to improve skin texture and reduce the puffiness of the face, I personally like to do it with my hands, but you can also use a facial roller or gua sha (just make sure to keep the clean).

We can't forget to moisturize our bodies, make sure to apply lotion all over your body, especially if you exfoliated or shaved, use a lotion with your favorite scent (strawberry, vanilla, etc.) or use an unscented lotion and immediately apply perfume to smell good all day long.

It's now time to continue with our haircare, gently brush your hair and dry it, if you are using a hair dryer you must apply some heat protection. Also, make sure to apply a leave-in conditioner to prevent dry ends!

You can add more stuff to this routine if you need, like applying a lash serum to grow your lashes, or clean your makeup brushes, so you start doing it more regularly! Also, it's the best time to get some motivation, you can scroll down Pinterest or watch YouTube videos from thewizardliz, song jia, vogue beauty secrets or any content creator that inspires you to become the best version of yourself!

✸ ꒰ night routine ꒱⋆ ࣪.* ࣪.⋆

First step is to have dinner, if you're going to eat near your bedtime you should mind your portions and what you are eating, avoid heavy or spicy food, so you can rest better and really get that beauty sleep.

Every night, before going to bed, you can make some time to organize the next day (what are you going to do, plan the outfit/makeup/hair, etc.) and clean your room! It's very satisfying to wake up to a clean room, it also helps a lot when you have everything you need in the morning already set up, so you don't end up getting late!

Before going to bed is the best time for some yoga or stretching, yoga can help with relaxing your body before sleeping, specially if you exercised or if you were sitting down for many hours because of work or school.

Finally, the best way to finish your day is to read to help you wind down! Specially if it's near your bedtime and you aren't sleepy yet. You can even read comics! Just read any physical book you have, reading on a device can be distracting and will make you stay up past your bedtime.

December Prep 2

Let's look into a couple of things this week The first is how to properly study, research and gather information and the second is the various kinds of prompts you will see in the challenge throughout the year.

The basic steps in any research process are

Identify and develop your topic (we will have multiple so it will be important to follow the same steps for each topic.)

Preliminary search for information - we will be gathering a list of resources for everyone before the challenge begins including websites, a list of recommended books, and more.

Locate the information/ materials - Gather all your sources into one place! A folder on your pc, or a bookmark bar in your browser can go a long way to helping you keep this organized.

Evaluate and use Discernment on your informational sources.

Take notes! - self explanatory. Using the resources at your disposal, take notes on your selected topic, gather all of those notes, and keep them organized. You don't need to think of this in exact terms of a research paper, but the idea is the same! All of your notes will be helpful in actually filling and creating the pages for your grimoire! But, you also can just keep the notes as they are in your grimoire!

Now lets get on to the types of prompts you will see!

Meditation/ Journal - these will generally be the end of every week and after every practical prompt, so you can look back at what you've done and learned, in order to help you process what you'd done and how you feel and think about it.

Research/ Study - these will include things like herbs, gems, types of magical practices and topics, tools, history

Practical/ Hands on - at least one a week, where you get your hands dirty, so to speak, and really perform some magic or do the work you're studying.

Submissions - I encourage everyone to share their thoughts, ideas, and physical progress within the challenge. You don't have to share pictures, if you're not comfortable, but thoughts and ideas and a short post about what you accomplished!

Holiday/ Seasonal posts - We'll have posts for the typical holidays and some that not so common.

Divination prompts - On occasion we'll have a divination prompt. It won't necessarily require you to perform any divination if you're not comfortable or don't know how, but the option will be there!

Cooking prompt - We've all seen those cool witchy inspired cooking posts on this site. So why not do one? Why not learn to make bread? Or mead? Or cute little pastries? Or anything. This'll be a new prompt, one I encourage everyone to take part in and share!

There may be more of these added as we go, but in general this is all of the types of posts we'll be seeing!

What else is there to do?

Well if you’ve already got notes somewhere (a notebook or files on your computer or what have you) you’re gonna want to actually design a grimoire right? And this is a grimoire challenge right? So let’s look at different design and style options!

If you’ve seen the video I posted of my grimoire pages, they’re very scrapbook/ junk journal styled. Which is a fun and totally customizable option.

Let’s look at some note taking methods, to help us take notes as well as design our grimoire pages, and some scrapbook supplies and ideas for ways to decorate our grimoires.

These are just a few links for some ideas.

Your grimoire should suit you, no matter how you choose to design and decorate it. It could be a scrapbook like mine, a bullet note journal, or a leather bound tome with thick ink lettering in a cipher that only you can read. However you want to design it, it should be an expression of you and your practice.

Asks about VaM, art advice, and miscellaneous stuffs

HI! Real quick please refrain from referring to Sad Sack as S/S for the uh... Obviously reasons LOL We call it "sads" for short!

If what you're asking for are recommendations for a website to host that kind of thing, Neocities, Twitter, Itchio and as you mentioned AO3 are all perfectly good options! Patreon too (depending on how gnarly you're planning on getting) but I'd suggest keeping that as a secondary host option because I don't think it lends itself super well for getting your work circulating. I believe Bluesky allows that kind of thing too, but I'm not too sure since I don't use it.

Now, If you're asking about public reaction rather than guidelines, anywhere you go you might find people that don't jive with the work you do 🤷 just be upfront about the type of content you're making right off the bat to avoid having anyone stumble upon it by accident to the best of your abilities, otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much. I know we're constantly exposed to examples of overwhelming harassment and "dogpilling" happening to others but... Truth be told, most of us won't ever get to the size/internet level of fame where we experience that. I think the threat is a little bit... Overstated, nowadays. Not to mention that most of the time people are getting harassment for things that have nothing to do with their work, and rather relating to their behavior and attitudes. Play smart, be responsible, and be honest! Whatever comes next is in god's hands LOL

Thank you for the ask! Not sure I was of much help 😅 but frankly when you're just starting out it's best to focus on getting the work done first and just throwing it out there, wherever it may be. You can worry about technicalities like that later!

About the booze question, honestly I'm not picky at all, I usually go by price and by that I mean whatever is cheapest LOL but I prefer a dry white as far as types go.

You only have to pay for it once! You get a code that unlocks the software and all of it's features and you're free to cancel your subscription after that. At some point the code might change or there might be an update that requires subscribing again - but that seems like a very rare occurrence so I wouldn't worry about it.

OH NO I HAVE DEFINITELY TRACED MY OWN REFERENCE BEFORE, but not entire poses! When something is challenging I'll make a point of drawing it out the usual way.

I can remember a couple of instances from Nick and mine's comic where I traced pictures I took of myself, just as a time saving measure. Again like I said in the post, there are several ways to employ tracing your own material that is perfectly acceptable. I have also traced bare-bones 3D backgrounds that I made for the same reasons.

I know you specifically asked about tracing when something's complicated, but I still wanted to be upfront to demystify the practice under different circumstances. The rule of thumb is to never use it when you know it would be inhibiting your skill development!

Happy to hear you wanted to pick up the skill! I definitely understand the urge too LOL since playing BG3 and becoming so invested in the stories and characters my art has improved a ton, simply from forcing me out of my usual style and making me want to capture different moods and scenarios - finding something you're passionate to draw is, frankly a great damn start.

Lesson #4: A Visceral Introduction To Kink (Part 2/2)

Amelia stared at the carnage at her feet, huffing in frustration and falling to her knees. He floor was covered in bras. casual, lacy, intricate and complicated, push-up, plain, barely-there strongly holding on to dear life. None of them felt right. She felt around the various options for her phone, finding it in the heavily padded right cup of one of her newer bras. The screen lit up as she picked it up. Matty had responded.

She smiled at his answer. At least she wasn't the only one who was taking this whole thing seriously. The thought made her feel slightly better. She knew, ultimately, the style of bra wasn't going to be the determining factor in how her first real kink experience would go. And, every time that she'd slept with Matty until now had been spontaneous and unplanned. So he's seen her ratty, everyday underwear countless times. So, dressing up tonight would defeat the purpose.

In fact, the whole point of tonight was to eliminate any anxiety. They'd built up to it for days. Matty was adamant that they don't dive in head first despite her repeated, enthusiastic begging. Something about it being too unpredictable for her body to handle. So, he'd tied her up one night and refused to include any more new surprises. The next night, they'd messed around with a vibrator, a few days later, he's held her down and left her with a few bruises to remember him by. But tonight? tonight was going to be the deep dive. Anything that she'd liked was a possibility. The night could take them anywhere. Finally.

Matty opened his fridge for the millionth time that day. looking for appropriate snacks options. He wondered why he kept looking; it's not like food was going to magically materialize in his fridge without him doing anything about it. He felt his phone buzz in the pocket of his joggers. Amelia had been trying to convince him to come over instead. But the snacks were key. He can't control the snacks at her place. He read her message, his lips tilting into a lopsided smile as he replied.

He desperately needed to go food shopping.

“Not if I’m doing m’ job right.”

She giggled, but Matty could tell that it was a nervous laugh.

“No testing here. Cuz we’re on the same side.” He walked towards her, slowly, as he spoke, his hands finding her hips and pulling her into him. “I don’t expect certain responses or behaviors from you. Just- wanna make you feel good.”

He’d fixed her hip against his, her face was inches away from his own, she could feel his breath against her skin as he mentioned her pleasure, his eyes looking directly into hers, dark with desire. He’d barely touched her and her body already felt on fire.

He leaned in to close the remaining space between their lips; she closed her eyes; ready to feel him, but she only heard “you remember what we said about safe words?”

Reluctantly, she opened her eyes again. “mhm.” too afraid to speak and give away her neediness.

Amelia stuttered for a moment, his brown eyes distracting her. “‘red’ is for stop everything immediately…’Yellow’ for slow down and check in’ She was panting, already out of breath. “And- umm…’Green’ for keep going. I thought you said this wasn’t a tes-“

Matty cut her off with an urgent kiss. Her eyes fluttering shut, her hands clutching the fabric at the sides of his t shirt.

She felt the loss of his touch desperately when he pulled away. His lips puffed and glossy.

“Been lookin’ forward to this all week.” he confessed, unabashedly. “It’s taking every ounce of self-control in me not to tear those clothes off your body right now.”

“do it” she responded a little too quickly. “Please, Matty, do it.”

“We haven’t even started yet and you’re already begging. this is gonna be fun.” He grinned, reaching for her top and tearing it in half. She flinched, reflexively, at first, then forced herself to be still for him, sliding the fabric off her back. With one swift pull, Matty yanked down her skirt, letting it fall at her feet. He stepped back taking in the sight of her, standing in front of him, in a matching set of lace. He was silent for a long beat, his eyes drinking in every inch of her body with a smile on his face.

“S-sorry, too much?” she blushed, looking down at herself.

Matty shook his head instantly. “Perfect…Just perfect.”

His hand reached between her legs, stroking the fabric at her center, grinning when he sensed her lean into his touch. He used the texture of the fabric to his advantage rubbing the lace of her underwear into her skin, creating friction, and moving in the slow half circle pattern that he’d come to realize she liked best. An involuntary moan left her lips, “Matty- I-“ she leaned forward, resting her whole body against his arms as his finger worked her. The sound of her heavy breathing filled the room. She felt heavier as he limbs trembled and she relied on Matty’s body to hold her up.

“You’re getting wet.” Matty simply stated, a hint of a smile in his voice.

“I- it feels so good. Think I’m gonna cum…” she mumbled, hardly hearing herself.

“Not yet” his fingers came to a complete stop, “it’s too early for that,” slowly propping her back up on shaky legs before he carried her off the ground and tossed her onto the bed.

Matty smiled down at her, his face framed by the curls of his hair giving her butterflies. “Test those ropes for me, baby.” She bit her lower lip at the affectionate expression, doing as he’d told her and tugging against the restraints.

“Good. Do they feel too tight on your wrists, though?”

She shook her head.

“Speak.” He chastised her. His firm tone making her mind rush with anxiety. She didn’t want to upset him. She wanted to do whatever he liked exactly as he liked it. That desire, alone, shocked and confused her. She’d never been a particularly subservient person. And she’s far too stubborn to take direction from anyone. Yet, here she was, desperate to be exactly who he wanted. “S-sorry, umm… no. They feel okay on my wrists.”

Matty smiled, relieved. “Color?”

“Green.”

Hearing her go-ahead, he turned to the nightstand that he’d had the foresight to prepare in advance and surveyed his options. What was he in the mood to do to her tonight? His hand hovered over a few toys as he considered each one. Eventually, he chose the riding crop, grinning to himself.

Amelia attempted to clench as the crop came into view, but the ropes holding her legs apart reminded her how helpless she was.

“Fuck.” She whispered.

Matty kept a straight face, but internally, he was thrilled with her nervousness.

With an air of nonchalance that he’d painstakingly perfected, he brought the toy closer to her body, never quite letting it touch her. He waved it just over her breasts for a bit, moving it back and forth as if he was warming up to hitting her nipples. Every time, she clutched, and every time, he didn’t end up hitting her. A lazy smile gradually grew onto his face the longer he toyed with her expectations. Finally, he raise his hand up, the crop whip-cracked in the air, the sound sending chills through her body. She yelped, shocked, when the crop gently tapped her instead of hitting hard, and Matty sneered with glee. He’d tricked her again.

“This is gonna be fun!” He said. “Well- for me, anyway.”

She rolled her eyes at him and he brought the crop over to her cheek, caressing it gently with the leather tip. “Don’t you roll your eyes at me, my dear. I can make you regret it.” He slapped her with the leather, as if to demonstrate.

She whined, the pain stinging and, no doubt, leaving a red mark.

Matty dragged the crop down her body, from her neck, to between her breasts, stroking her torso, and pausing at her hips. “Hmmm, where shall we start? Maybe here.” He hit her under her right breast.

“Ouch!”

“Or here.” Matty repeated the motion on the other side. “Or maybe your stomach.”

“Ahhh- ouch.”

Picking up speed, he left a a series of stinging hits all over her mid section, sometimes changing up his pace, or hitting the same spot twice, to keep things unpredictable. She jolted each time, her head moving left and right as she attempted to squirm away, to no avail.

Suddenly, the onslaught stopped. She panted, breathless and still feeling the sting all over her skin. Then, sadistically, Matty began to reign down the same hits to the center of her cunt.

“No, no! Please- Matty! It-“ she groaned “hurts- so- much.”

Her pleas only seemed to excite him, she caught him smiling as he watched the soft, sensitive skin of her center turn read. Then, she saw him frown as he paused to examine the tip of his crop. “It’s wet.” He muttered. “You’re wet! You little whore. You liked it!” He exclaimed, hitting her, a bit harder now, over and over.

Amelia nodded, staring up at the ceiling.

“You wanna stop?”

“No! No please I need you. Please, Matty, please. I- I need to be- I don’t know how to say how I feel, it’s just….”

Matty smiled, knowing exactly what she meant. “Okay, okay. I hear you. It’s alright. I get how you feel. You don’t need to say a word. Been there myself. Why don’t you take a breath, calm down. And then we’ll continue. Hmm?”

“You did so good for me, honey.” Matty whispered into the skin of her stomach before kissing it. “Felt so good. Really needed that release just now, too.” He giggled.

He was mostly speaking to keep her engaged and help her calm down, but he wasn’t lying. He did need that orgasm, too. “Gonna pull out now, okay?”

Slowly, he got up and off of her, crawling into the empty spot next to her and laying on his side, propping his head up on his elbow, looking at her cautiously. “Amelia, darlin, can you hear me?”

Her hoarse voice sounded a “yes.” Relief washing over him. “Good.” He gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek. “Mind if I run into the bathroom real quick?”

She shook her head.

Matty looked himself in the mirror, leaning into the bathroom sink and actively trying to slow down his own breathing. He told himself that what he was feeling was normal. Dom drop is a real thing. Feeling protective is to be expected. He’s felt it before. Just because he can’t remember when that was, doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened before. Besides, she’s his friend. Someone he actually cares about. Not a one night stand he met at a bar. It’s only natural to care about her well-being.

He rubbed his eyes with the bottom of his palms and shook the thoughts away. Re-focusing himself. Washcloth. He needs a wet washcloth and some cleaning supplies to help clean her up. No time to think about feelings right now.

“We’ll take a bath in a bit, but for now, I need you to put this on.” He fluffed up pillows he’d propped behind her back for the millionth time as he offered her one of his graphic tees. “Let me help.” He unfolded the t shirt and pulled it over her body, helping her find the arms and gently pull them in.

“You don’t have to do all this, honestly, I’m starting to feel like myself a bit.”

He simply responded with a shake of the head and a firm, “Aftercare” before walking out of the room.

Not that he needed to say any more. They’d been over this a million times. But, as Amelia was quickly learning, it was one thing to discuss and negotiate things, and it was another thing entirely to experience them.

Soon, Matty had returned to her side, with a tray full of assorted snacks and drinks, reminding her that after an intensely physical experience, her brain is currently marinating in all sorts of hormones and her body is going to need the energy to replenish what it has lost. She groaned and made a joke about him being an overbearing buzzkill but followed his instructions anyway.

Amelia had tossed and turned all night. If George’s warnings planted seeds of doubt, then the other night with Matty did nothing to help. In fact, she’s more confused now than she’s ever been. His protective eyes, his comforting touch, his fussing and worrying over her all night…none of it help to clarify things. She needed an alternative method. A way of identifying her feelings by comparing them against something. Which is how she had, embarrassingly, found herself bristling and cringing as she scrolled through a dating app. She wrote up a standard “saw this pic and think you’re cute. Where was it taken?” Initiation message and sent it to several of her matches, hoping that someone would take the bait. Instantly, she closed the app, burying her phone deep under her pillows in shame.

“You look like shit.” George observed, handing Matty a cup of coffee and walking across the dressing room to make one for himself.

“Didn’t get much sleep last night.” Matty took a sip of his drink, burning his lips and wincing.

“So, who was it this time? Only fans girl? Or a repeat satisfied model from Instagram dms coming back for seconds?” George scooped some coffee grounds and poured them into the machine.

“Ummm….no, no one actually.” Matty’s shoulders slouched. “Haven’t done that in a bit.”

“Oh?”

“Can’t be bothered.”

The steam of the coffee machine made a menacing hiss.

“It’s Amelia, isn’t it?” George watched his friend out of the corner of his eye.

Matty knew the guys would pick up on it eventually. He was irritated, but not surprised. Mostly, he didn’t want to have the conversation that he knew he’d just stumbled into. “No.”

George laughed mockingly, “yeah, right.” He poured himself a cup of coffee and re-joined his friend on the couch. “For what it’s worth, we all think it’s a shit idea.”

“It’s not like….it’s anything serious. Just sex.”

George said nothing. Simply stared into Matty’s eyes as he sipped luxuriously on his coffee.

“What?” Matty’s high pitched squeak was louder than he’d intended.

“ I haven’t said a word.”

“She’s…. My best friend. She’s Mia. She…needed some help-“

George chortled, “and you’re the most helpful guy in the world.”

“Oh, piss off, George!” Matty waved his friend off dismissively, staring down into his drink to avoid having to look at George. His mind mulling it over and unable to stand the accusation, he spoke again. “And- what about it? We’re both adults. We both want this.”

“Mate, you just called her ‘Mia.’” George stated.

Marry frowned. “Problem?”

“The last time you called her that? 8 years ago when you’d shamelessly flirt with her all the time and then tease her for getting flustered.”

Matty looked away quickly, turning to the side and feeling stiff.

“You tried to play it off like it was….some joke. You were obsessed with her. Every girl you met wanted you. She didn’t.”

George’s terse recap of the painful history between them stung. Matty didn’t need a reminder. He’d never forgotten.

“I’m being a friend, Matty, you know it. For what it’s worth, though, I don’t think she knew. Back then, I mean. You were so mean about it. And, you’d flirt with her then get off with other girls, so, I think she just thought you were messing about.”

Matty finally turned back towards George, looking at him with raised eyebrows.

“You seem to be doing the same things now. Might wanna ask yourself why.”
