Pairing/s: Finnick Odair x fem reader

Summary: At the age of 18 you thought you’d soon be free of the hunger games, unfortunately fate has a different plan. You are picked as a tribute for district 2 and thrust into capitol life.

A/N: Idk why but I really struggled writing this chapter. I’m excited to move on to the actual games and get to the fun stuff! Everyone say thank you Beta readers for helping me actually buckle down and write this.

Somehow Y/N was awarded a slow morning, able to sleep in until 9am and take a leisurely shower. Her sore muscles relaxed under the spray of hot water and she felt she could take a moment to breathe for once in the past few days. She looked at her painted fingernails as the scalding water hit her back. A crimson color meticulously sculpted into a sharp point, Aerith was all about details and she wondered if even her fingernails symbolized something; a message or warning. A few drops of water fell from her eyelashes and she looked to the panel on the wall, turning the shower off and grabbing a large towel from the heated rack.

She stepped onto the soft cushion of the shower mat and looked at the large mirror on the wall. Drying off while studying her appearance, the way her wet hair fell and how her skin looked. She studied her body and wondered how she would look in the no doubt extravagant dress that she was to be zipped into that night. She frowned in the mirror, the thought of this place and all its luxury made her stomach turn a bit, it was so much all at once. She looked away from her reflection, setting her hand on the electric hair dryer and letting it work its wonders.

She dressed in a comfortable set of lounge clothes, silky and soft to the touch. She looked into her room and sighed at the idea of going to breakfast, she just wanted the moment of peaceful solitude to last forever. Her stomach however did not and growled in protest, she groaned, walking out the door and down the hall. Finch and his stylist sat at the dining room table, nibbling on the spread while conversing with a light tone. She took a teacup and poured from the pot of hot chocolate, smiling a bit to herself at the sweet scent.

“Morning sugar” Finch smiled as he noticed her presence, she looked up from her cup as he addressed her. “Morning, sleep good?” she asked, sitting in her usual spot beside him. He turned to face her a bit more, “Not really, I'm not used to all the noise” he laughed “but I got some rest this morning so I’m ok.” he said, sipping his own cup. “Can't be tired for Caesar” Hebe teased him with the sort of smile an older sister might give. He smiled back at her and stuck his tongue out playfully.

Y/N grinned into her cup as she took another sip, it was nice to see these kinds of friendly interactions. After all, being in the capitol was mostly that fake kindness and too wide smiles that made everyone not participating uncomfortable. She reached forward and took a few breakfast items onto her plate, she had learned she liked what she had heard called a “crepe”. She spread whipped cream over the pastry and littered it with the fresh fruit available, taking a few sausages and eggs along the way.

“Whipped cream for breakfast?” Finch asked teasingly, She grinned and stuck out her tongue just as he had a moment earlier. “I have protein too, dont judge me” she said, a few giggles permeating her words. “And you wonder why i call you sugar” He teased right back, taking a bite of his breakfast. Hebe sat and watched the two teens with a sad smile, she had been a stylist for 10 years and knowing the impending doom they faced never got easier.

The 3 talked for an hour and a half, Y/N learned that Hebe had 2 children of her own and how her husband had passed away so her sister and mother lived with them. Luckily stylists made an obscene amount of money so Hebe could pay for anything and everything her children needed. Somehow she even managed to get a few details on Aerith, learning the old woman had a wife and one son who worked as a gamemaker. She cringed at the thought, knowing that the old woman's son had watched her scoring session and would most likely continue to watch her closely throughout the games.

At half past 12 or so Furisha and Enobaria walked through the doors, shopping bags in their arms. “New clothes for the show tonight?” Finch asked. She could tell he was a bit annoyed, “Oh yes! New shoes and dresses,we’re going to look divine!” Furisha said as she pranced into the room. Y/N patted Finch on the arm, doing her best to calm his annoyance.

He stood and motioned for her to follow, a furrow in his brow. She took one last bite of her crepes and quickly scurried after him. Sharing a look with Hebe as she followed, they both knew something was changing about him. He didn't seem as blithe and debonair the closer they got to the games. He walked to the balcony across the room, setting his forearms on the railing and staring down at the bustling city below.

“What's wrong? Not a fan of shopping?” she asked, trying to lighten the mood just a bit. He only let out a huff through his nose at the joke, turning his head to look at her. “I'm fine with shopping, just not fond of the time they’re doing it.” He explained “We go into the games tomorrow and they're just recklessly spending money.” He grimaced. She patted him on the back, her hand rubbing in small circular motions. “You know how Furisha is, and Enobaria…” She hesitated, thinking for a second. “She's been in the capital a long time, You know how the people here are.” She shrugged. He sighed, “I just don't see how they can be so nonchalant when 23 of us will be dead by the end of the week… enobaria especially.”

“She's never really been one to cherish human life, I mean her teeth are definitely a clue to her opinions on the games.” she assumed, continuing on “Unfortunately the people who we’re surrounded with aren't all that understanding of the headspace we’re both in, although Hebe might be an outlier in that field.” She spoke, wanting the cringe at her own words. “Luckily you've got me, and even though I'm terrified I'll do my best to help you get through tonight ok?” She continued, offering a small reassuring smile.

Being the man he was, Finch turned and engulfed her in a warm hug. His arms circled her ribs as he bent over and buried his face in the crook of her neck. He smelled like maple syrup and generic green apple shampoo, a boyish scent that reminded her of their real age, only 18 years old. Her arms circled around him as well, “I’m gonna do my best to protect you too ok? Not just here but in the arena, promise.’ He said in a low voice. The thought made her smile a bit; even if he just made sure she had a quick death, that would be a gift in itself.

“Can we just be kids until it's time to get ready?” she asked quietly, "No adult responsibilities and no talks of death.” He nodded “sounds like a plan sugar” Her arms moved down to rest on his chest as she pulled away from the embrace. “I might have an idea, but it's pretty dumb.” she smiled, a bit of a giggle in her words. His eyebrow raised and a smile finally came over his face, “oh and what might that be?” he asked.

“Find as many blankets as you can and meet me in my room in 10 minutes kay?” she said with a grin as she pulled away from him. His eyebrows knitted together and he gave her an upside down smile as he tilted his head to the side a bit. “What are you planning?” he asked as she opened the balcony door to head back inside. She only gave him a large smile and walked inside, dashing off to god knows where.

A few minutes later he knocked on her door as instructed with a pile of sheets in hand that he had stolen from a nearby linens closet. She opened her door and immediately grabbed the blankets from him, unfolding them and adding them to the structure she had built from her bed posts to a few chairs across the room. The fort was impressive, especially since it had only taken her about 10 minutes to construct.

“Help me add sheets” she instructed as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. After a beat of silence, he unfolded sheets as he was told, draping them on the makeshift fort to cover areas she might've missed. She arranged two blankets to serve as tent flaps, crawling into the fort and disappearing into the darkness within. Seconds later her head popped out, “Hand me some pillows?” she asked,sticking her hand out. Once again he did as he was told, handing her pillows that she placed in the fort behind her. He crouched down, peeking inside the small space while she arranged blankets and pillows all around.

“What do you think?” she asked with a large grin “my sister and I used to make these all the time in our room growing up. We pretended we were living in our own little cottage out in the woods, or maybe that we had an apartment in the capitol.” she added, laughing to herself at the memories of her childish actions. He crawled into the fort, hunched over until he could get into a comfortable position. “What else do we need? Or do we just sit here and talk?” He asked, shifting so he faced her, laying on his side. “Next we get snacks, books and flashlights” she said with a giddy bounce of her shoulders. “Oh of course, what's a proper cottage in the woods without those things?” he said teasingly, giving her a wink.

She only giggled, crawling out of the tent and making her way out of the room. He noticed a few storybooks that she already prepared in the tent, fairytales and adventure novels that only people in the capitol could acquire. She was a funny girl, he hoped she kept that same goofy sense of humor and look of wonder in the games, when she could at least. His mind wondered for a second how their lives could have been if not for the games. They most likely would have grown up together, he wondered if they would be friends or something more. He shook his head, dismissing the thoughts and laughed to himself as he hunched over to crawl out of the tent after her.

The two grabbed snacks, drinks, books, sweets, flashlights and even more pillows. Placing everything in the small tent - like structure. Her eyes widened for a second before she was about to climb in, “oh my god i have an idea!” she exclaimed, rushing around the fort and picking up the small remote on her bedside table. She pressed a few buttons and the lights grew to a burnt orange color, the windows transforming to a desert scape like district 2. Quiet noises of animals filled the room, the sound of the breeze accompanying the scurries.

His face broke into a grin as the room changed, “just like home” he mumbled to himself. She made her way back around the fort and crawled inside, tucking herself up against one of the makeshift walls. He followed, the smile still on his face as he grabbed a sweet and popped it into his mouth. For once they both felt like kids, laughing as they told stories and read adventurous stories aloud to each other. Y/n read in different voices and made sound effects to match, painting an exquisite picture of the story she read. Finch felt himself becoming even more drawn to her. She was unapologetically herself around him and he loved it.

Hours passed like minutes, the two drawing closer to each other like magnets until they were face to face. She read in a soft tone as he played with her hair, his fingers toying with strands absentmindedly. She finished the chapter, looking at him with a small smile. “Any predictions so far?” she asked, a giddy tone once again in her voice. He thought for a second and spoke just as softly “I think he’s gonna kiss her, and then their friendship will be all changed and awkward.” He guessed, a teasing tone in his voice. His eyes flickered down to her lips for a split second, his tongue darting out to moisten his own.

‘And…what if it didn't? What if she liked it?” she whispered back, her eyes raking over him as she chewed on the inside of her cheek. His hand came up to cup her cheek, his slightly rough fingers moving over the soft skin. “So what you're saying is, hypothetically of course, their friendship might be the same? She might not be mad?” He asked, his face moving closer to hers. She simply shook her head and let her eyes close, waiting for his lips to touch hers. Instead she felt his forehead rest on hers, a shiver running through her.

She kept her eyes closed and let her forehead rest on his. “Is this weird?” He whispered, his fingers still running over her cheek and jawline. She shook her head again, “not weird” she whispered back. She just kept basking in the sweetness of the moment. Her stomach had butterflies and she was sure she would spaz out if she opened her eyes to look at his handsome face. “I wish we had more time, i wish i could really know you for you” He lamented, “I want-“ he started, his sentence interrupted.

A knock came to the door, the culprit opening it after a second. “Ok you two, time to start getting ready.” came the sweet voice of Hebe. The two teens parted from each other's embrace, Y/N poking her head out of the makeshift tent. “Be right there” the girl said with a dopey smile, Hebe only winked at her turning to leave the doorway “don't keep us waiting too long!” she called as she left. Y/N looked back into the tent at Finch “I'm gonna ask them to keep the tent up, meet me here after interviews are done?” she asked.

The boy gave her a grin “wouldn't miss it sugar” he said as he crawled past her and out of the pillow fort, offering her a hand once he stood. “You'll do great tonight, and I know you're gonna look gorgeous.” He said with the debonair grin she had seen before. She blushed “getting all flirty huh?” she teased. He only laughed, helping her up and kissing the back of her hand. “See you in a bit” she smiled as he parted from her, giving a wink as he walked out her open door.

She smiled to herself and sat on her bed, flopping back on it with a sigh. Part of her was ecstatic that this sweet handsome boy liked her but another feeling gnawed at the bottom of her stomach, fear. Fear of the unknown like the games and fear of the known, her budding relationship with Finch. Her thoughts were, like always, cut short by Aerith walking in. The tiny woman clapped her hands loudly, “up up darling, we have perfection to create.” the old woman demanded.

Y/N huffed out a breath and stood up, following the old woman who led her to the foyer. A clump of people waited for her and looked anxious to start picking and preening her to perfection. The group surrounded her, leading her to the elevator and then to an unmarked car that took her to the venue where she would get ready, they didn't even let her put shoes on first. She was rushed into the venue where the work began; her hair was put in giant rollers that felt somewhat itchy and her face was smeared with many different makeup and skincare products. A few people worked on her hair and nails while others poked at her face and neck with brushes for what felt like hours.

She was stripped of her comfy clothes and zipped in a long tulle ball gown. The dress glittered in the light, a dark blue fading into a purple color like the sky at dusk. The sleeves Fell off her shoulders and the deep sweetheart neckline accentuated her collar bones. A gooey substance was spread on her chest and rubbed into her skin, making it glitter and reflect light. Finishing touches were done on her hair and makeup before she was brought to a large 3 fold mirror for Aerith to give her approval.

She stood and looked at her reflection just as she had done that morning, studying her face and hair. She didn't look like herself, she looked like the capitol's version of her and it made the sinking feeling in her stomach grow. Aerith's heels click in unison with Furisha’s, the two women coming to study her in the light. Furisha held a box in her hands, opening it once they got closer.

Small iridescent glass beads made up a necklace and earrings, they looked like tiny flowers that she recognized. “Lily of the valley” she said aloud as Aerith took the necklace out of the box. “Beautiful, native to district 2” she said, pulling Y/N down to clasp the necklace on. The clasp clicked and she smiled “and poisonous” she added.

Y/N felt uncomfortable in her skin, a chill running down her spine. Furisha clipped the matching earrings on her ears “you really look like a princess darling” she said in a genuine tone. Y/N smiled back politely “Thank you” she said as she looked back in the mirror.

Brutus knocked on the door, “Almost ready? We still want to give some last minute advice.” He said loudly. Y/N took handfuls of her skirt, walking to the door and opening it. “Let’s do it, I wanna throw up and I can’t breathe in this dress.” She said as she walked past him.

The mentors had a little more than 15 minutes to give advice before peacekeepers lined all of the tributes up by district. A countdown started and obnoxiously loud music blasted through speakers, almost rocking the stage they stood behind. The trumpets blared a song very aptly called “war”, the signature song of the man currently rushing onstage. Caesar Flickerman.

The man was obscenely tanned and his hair was a bubblegum pink with matching eyebrows. His teeth were almost too white as he smiled to the crowd, a laugh coming out his mouth as he waved to the audience and took a microphone. “Happy hunger games!” He shouted as the crowd screamed.

Y/N looked up as Finch turned around in front of her. He wore a completely black suit that faded to a blood red at the limbs. A subtle detail and a subtle way to match the two. “I knew you’d look gorgeous” he flirted with a sly grin. Y/N reached up, fixing his crooked tie and patting his chest. “Thank you” she said with a small smile. He took her hand, holding in lightly as they waited.

The show began quickly, the tributes from district 1 going first. Ammo and Dutchess dazzled the crowd with their witty banter and upper class demeanors. Finally Finch swaggered onto stage, giving Caesar a firm handshake and smile. “I must say, you look very sharp tonight!” the television host commented, an outstretched hand offering Finch a seat. “Oh, never as good looking as you Ceasar.” Finch joked, earning a laugh from both the audience and the host.

“Well I must say I think we all thought you and your beautiful district partner dazzled us at the tribute parade! Didn’t they, folks?” Caesar said, riling up the audience momentarily. “Who’s idea was that amazing little stunt?” He asked, a large grin stretched across his face. Finch smiled that confident smile before speaking “It was my stylists idea but being honest it couldn’t have worked if Y/N wasn’t such a good partner, she can really go with the flow and be incredibly gracious about it.” He laughed.

Caesar laughed along “oh but we all know your strength really pulled it off, I mean look at those biceps ladies and gentleman!” Caesar said, pretending to fan himself. Finch only laughed again “I’ve been training a long time and at this point picking up another person is child’s play” he said, mock flexing to the crowd. His suit crinkled a bit at the shoulder as he did so, really showing the size of his bicep.

“Oh I bet the ladies back home just go crazy for you! A strong man with that smile and personality? Forget about it!” Caesar said with a wink “any lucky girl back home?” He asked, leaning forward a bit in his chair. “Oh no, I mean there have been girls but right now I’m just trying to get back to my family” he said with a genuine smile. “Well I can say for a certainty that if you make it back home you’ll have all the girls wrapped around your finger. I know your family would be overjoyed.” Caesar nodded

“I can only try my best, and I hope I’ll see you after all of this,” Finch said, waving to the audience. Caesar stood up and patted his shoulder as he did too. “And we can’t wait to see it all, may the odds be ever in your favor. Finch Glenn ladies and gentlemen!” The television host said, a shout at the end of his sentence and his signature laugh accompanying it.

Finch waved to the crowd once more and exited the stage. A gaggle of people met him offstage, Hebe praised him with a kiss on the cheek and Brutus gave him a pat on the back. Furisha babbled about how amazing he did and Enobaria smiled but kept her distance. Y/N gave him a thumbs up before looking out at where she was to enter the stage.

Caesar talked for a moment before finally introducing her. “And now for our lovely lady from district 2! The dazzling Y/N L/N!” He shouted, she made her way into the stage, holding her dress so she wouldn’t trip. The crowd cheered and Ceasar grinned. “My my! You look absolutely stunning my dear! Like a storybook princess!” He complemented, offering his hand.

She took his hand with a smile and let him twirl her gently. The dress glittered in the stage light, making the crowd whoop loudly. She smiled charmingly at Ceasar “Oh thank you so much, you are too kind.” She simpered. He led her to a chair, sat her down and she gracefully crossed her ankles. “I must say darling you certainly have a lot of admirers in the capitol already, and your stunt at the tribute parade certainly helped. Do you get a lot of attention back home?” He asked, a subtle wiggle in his brow.

She feigned a shy expression, “oh I’m not too sure about that, I think I’m a pretty average girl” she replied, batting her eyelashes. Caesar grinned at the crowd, “Beautiful and modest! What a catch am I right?” He said with a laugh, she smiled at him again.

“So y/n on a more serious note, what do you plan on doing in the arena? How do you plan to win?” He asked, taking on a more stern expression. She sat up a bit straighter flashing another grin “Oh you know I can’t tell you that, spoilers after all” she said with a wink at the cameras. Caesar gave another loud laugh, slapping his knee as he stood up and took her hand.

“Beautiful, cunning and agile! I think if you make it back to us you’ll be a true princess indeed!” He said as he kissed her knuckles. “Miss Y/N L/N everyone!” He shouted as the crowd cheered. She gave a wave and a small curtsy as she left the stage. Furisha gave her a large hug as she stepped offstage, blabbering about how good she did. Aerith gave a tight smile and Hebe kissed her cheek.

She looked around for Finch, meeting his eye as he was leaning back from the crowd. He walked over and took her hand as they spoke with their team, holding it tight. They watched as the rest of the rest of the tributes went on stage, mentors meeting them as they exited. Y/N once again caught the eye of the mentor from district 4, his dimples appearing as he gave her a smirk. She blushed and looked away, squeezing Finch's hand.

Hiiii I was reading FS series and so far AM LOVING IT!! (That ending doe whyyy imma cri (;—;) and just, wanted to ask how u even came up with it? Do u have favorite parts?? (Or least fave, can't imagine that personally thou (〃´∀｀)) asdgfsssd sorry if this is random or weird I just really wanted to let u know I liked it a lot! Might've skipped sleep couple times ahahaha....(^—^);

Hi there, sorry for late reply! (got this last night basically lol) and don't worry! It's random but in a good way lmao

(Also, don't worry things get better if you continue reading the series, trust me C; But up to you of course! I know its a long ass story when you put all 3 fics together lmao)

I can't recall exactly where the idea came from, I think I was just toying with the concept of "What if AFO WASN'T absolute horse shit of a parent & Somehow friends with Toshinori WITHOUT making All Might evil?" or something along those lines.

Hmmm....I do very much like that one scene, where Hisashi and Toshinori chat in a car, or more like Toshinori shares his woes with his friend, and Hisashi says something very simple, but it is very profound in the context of the story/their relationship. (I drew this scene and wrote a whole ass essay about why I loved the scene so much for some reason lmao).

Hisashi Kicking Toshinori outta hero form was also pretty fun, namely because you as a reader KNOW who Hisashi is (and Toshinori doesn't, yet), making the whole thing kind of ironic.

Also, Tenko pretending to be a starfish. It was just one of those cute kids train of thoughts moments I really liked writing. (Since I've drawn all these scenes in question, I'll plop the artworks here so this is not just a wall of text answer lol);

As for least fave, it is actually pretty typical (at least in my case lol) that there's always something I feel like I could've written better. Don't get me wrong I very much still love FS, but even my favorite story has some things that in hindsight...if I wrote the fic now, I'd do differently. Call it learning what works/what doesn't/what could work better and all haha!

These things are:

How Hisashi's brother died. I now feel like how it went down doesn't...quite fit with the kind of character Hisashi became. It was meant to be tragic, kind of accidental, but, ehhh...maybe it doesn't feel enough like an accident? Admittedly this detail is something I could easily go and change as it's just couple of lines of dialogue and a scene, but finding those bits would probably take ages. (Will I do this small but kind of significant change? Who knows, maybe someday lol, I did rewrite an entirety of Reanimate at one point, or well one half of it back in 2020)

The whole Todoroki family sub-plot. Now, the way it was written came from the current understanding of Endeavor's character at that time (pre Touya flashbacks) which, kind of...ironically ended up making me write him worse than he actually turned out to be in canon, (Enji's still a terrible, abusive father and a person ofc, don't get me wrong, but he's def. violent sooner in my fic, than he was in canon) and now, I'd probably approach that plotline differently with the new info I have.

Maybe I wouldn't make a full on redemption arc for Enji as, well, I don't really care about his character much outside the impact he's had on his family, but def. wouldn't have written him as violent as he came off, given the timing of things.

Maybe The Midoriyas could've prevented things from going to that point it ends up in canon, and get Touya to see he has more value than just living up to his dad's amibitions, and MAYBE Enji starting to see his son as an individual, rather than his extension.

Or something. IDK.

Like said, Enji's one of the more boring characters in bnha to me, which makes writing him/focusing on him kind of difficult, hence IDK if I'd be able to pull off such an idea easily. I feel like he has very little interesting substance (to me, this is subjective OFC) outside the whole "bad dad" plot, and as a cherry on top, his design just... manages to combine a lot of things I tend to find kind of unappealing to look at in a character lmao. It's not even rescued by his writing, like what happens with All Might for example.

In fact, if I can get away with not showing Enji on-screen in a story (Without just killing him off/putting him in jail, those aren't my favorite solutions to issues like this, and have only used the former, once), while still showcasing the negative effect he's had on Dabi (and/or Shoto) I will do it. Quite obviously, I did not feel like it'd work for FS, not having him be on-screen at all.

....Well this is a long answer, this last part got especially rambly, but kind of fitting given how long my stories tend to be too haha! Hope it satisfied your curiosity :D

I'll have to entirely get back to this bc ive only seen a playthrough for b&w (and am playing it( while I haven't seen too much for b&w2 (the most is through pokemon masters ex) under cut bc it got too long

B side is what's happening in unova (and hisui) while the three are gone. Not gonna lie with hidui volo does dissappear but it's mostly people thinking he's traveling or learning new things (idk if it happens before or after the last boss fight in pla before yknow who so hhh).

In unova it's a bit funky wacky. Nimbasa city does not have a gym leader nor does it have anyone to run the subway stations.

I have b&w brainrot rn I'm not going to lie. As a temporary set up, N takes the lead for nimbasa city's gym (I'd assume w zekrom bc electric type and also who he uses in pokemon masters ex,, despite me playing white). Hilbert and Hilda also come back and take over the subway (pov you go to challenge the battle subway and the former champions of unova are there ro kick your ass. I think its funny).

Because I haven't played through b&w2 I cant entirely say *what* ghetsis and colress are doing . But they're doing something. The b&w 2 protags (and also rival hugh) along with the gym leaders (hello I have brainrot part 2), the elite four, (cynthia if shes in the reigon. Ik shes there in the summer in b&w so-) Champion iris, + Alder are all trying to figure out where tf they disappeared to. Because it's three important people. A gym leader doesn't suddenly dissappear without a cause or a reason, same w the subway bosses. Their genuine mind thought is 'team plasma is doing shit' (tbf they are bc a gym leader is, yknow,, gone)

So thwre is a weird balance thing going on and things certainly seem... (COUGH COUGH) black and white.

There's also a lot of personal feelings (MOST OF THESE ARE HCS SO AUGH)

The protags and the rivals (also N he's there too) are very thrown off by this. Afaik Hilda and Hilbert go searching for N after b&w so it seems like they'd try to go searching for elesa and the twins (ofc not as strong if a connection as they had to N but still very important). N also would like to get behind this because people don't just let go of their ideals that fast to pursue some far off truth that may not be real etc. I can't entirely answer how Cheren and Bianca feel considering I have yet to play b&w 2 HOWEVER i can say that theyre both very lost (that also goes for the b&w2 protags and Hugh but theyre thrown into this very suddenly).

Also with Cynthia being in Unova (at least canonically in the game during a season) it certainly leads to *some* hints on where ingo went (bc again he was missing first and then elesa and emmet)Emmet.

Again this probably will be changed once I play b&w2 (I can't find a good playthrough so ya)

Yes they all think 'oh they're looking for ingo' at first but it's genuine radio silence. It's been years since they've been in contact. Years once the nimbasa trio + Volo have been 'home'. Years since Unovans last saw them (also rip volo) so they kinda have time to get into these new 'positions'. Hilda and Hilbert run the battle subway (not as fun as adventuring but also the other option is to close it) and N is dealing with the nimbasa city gym (+ being a gym leader. Incredibly awkward since but technicality he was the king of team plasma.

SOME FUN FACTS FOR MY SONIC AU THAT ISN'T RELATED TO THE MAIN STORY NOR THE FUTURE STORY(+no context):

Breezie has a prosthetic/robotic leg that can turn its foot into a wheel.

Mighty was sonics first ever friend since some of the people in South Island were scared of him when he crashed landed on the island. (Think of it like soniccanon being shadows first friend.)

I have 2 ristar ocs. The first one has a genetic birth condition? That makes his legs extend instead of his arms.(is also Amy's assistant as she's a time guardian.) The second one is named Margaret and she's the villages market/shopkeeper. Might appear in the main story as someone who explains to us (and belle) about this world. Might be delivered as something casual/she's been through this before.

Amy in this AU is something called a 'Time Guardian'. They protect the time stones and try to stop the usual 'time going wrong' tropes from happening. And paradoxes. Those are hard.

Miles and Marine are (engineering) rivals/ compete with one another. (Presented in a comedic fashion?)

There's lore for the phantom ruby.

The shooting star species have been around as long as villages were made on earth! (Or Gaia idk)

Nights's gem is the main source of their paraloop.

Sonic might have 25% of STC's sonic's jerkiness since he's supposed to be the Shadow to sonic's Mighty.

Eggman has Safety protocols for his robots If sonic ever goes berserk.

"What!" Wei Wuxian sits up. "How can you say that? Of course it's important! This is the person you'll be with for the rest of your life, Lan Zhan."

Hunter Noceda AU!

So, this has been an au that's been developing on my mind for the last two weeks, and Yesterday's Lie has helped to rough out the start of the story but it's still not very developed.

The basic is, Hunter would have somehow ended up falling on the human realm through a leak caused by Titan's blood (i haven't figured out exactly how that happened yet) when he was pretty young, like three or four years old and Camila (and presumably Luz's dad) found him and adopted him!

Then, years later, when Luz is being sent to the camp, he would be going too, working as a counselor-in-training there. But then the whole Owlbert thing happens and he ends up following Luz and Owlbert to the demon realm and the story goes from there.

- He and Luz are pretty close since neither of them are exactly popular or even well liked. They’re two ND kids who mostly only trust eachother since they almost always were the only ones who understood and stood up for the other. They both love Azura a lot and often end up in hours long discussions about the lore and theories.

- He has felt like he didn’t belong there for a lot of reasons. The pointy ears, magenta eyes, just appearing out of nowhere when he was small, having no idea where he’s from, anger issues, being very obviously ND and having weird interests, and the list goes on.

- Generally he's more cautious than Luz about almost everything, trying to think things through first, he likes being sure of what to expect. But that gets dropped down quite a bit when they're in the Boiling Isles because everything is so interesting and he's excited to know more, ending up more impulsive, even if its a bit out of his comfort zone a lot of times.

- He's hesitant to stay on the Boiling Isles at first (for obvious reasons) but he decides to stay because 1) Luz 2) He wants to know more about witches, since that's his chance to finally know more about who he is 3) Magic nerd number 2.

- It takes a while for him to discover he's powerless. He at first thought it was because of Earth not having natural magic like the Boiling Isles do, and then he goes to the assumption that his magic is funky because of having stayed on earth for so long, but that it will come back one day. But he does end up realizing he just never had a working magic bile sac. Takes a little while for him to accept that.

- He's autistic/ADHD, aromantic and trans (trans guy Hunter and nonbinary Luz solidarity).

- King loves staying with him, often leaving him trapped in the couch not able to leave because he fell asleep on top of him (and no one disturbs King’s naps).

- He has the habit of hiding his ears quite often ever since Jacob one time bugged him about it when he had the displeasure of bumping into him one time on the coffee shop. He still does it on the Boiling Isles out of habit, but kinda drops it after a while, specially around the owlfam.

- Most if not all the emotional problems Canon Hunter has are still there, but not as outward/extreme as in canon or they appear in different ways.

- He’s also a magic nerd because of Azura, as well as a history nerd, who sneaks into any library near him, be it in Gravesfield or Bonesborough. He would love Hexside, he’d probably choose all tracks like Luz, but maybe not going all out like her.

- Idk If he's still a grimwalker here. Maybe? Could be interesting

- And I also don’t know how the second season could play out . If he's a grimwalker, then there could be an even younger Golden Guard. That’s a fun and horrifying idea, i think I'll go with it. Would be a hell of an existential crisis.

- I think that, while extremely invested in the glyphs too, he would be searching for other ways of doing magic too, to not have to rely on only glyphs.

- His and Luz's father is still alive (we didn't get confirmation that he died and the possibility of him being alive makes some good small bit of angst for the au, as I’ll explain on the next points), but divorced/broke up with Camila some years ago and she ended up with the custody of both Hunter and Luz, and they still sometimes see him.

- There wasn't any way of Vee knowing about Hunter and his relationship to Luz before she decided to escape to the human realm. She only finds out about him when Camila asks about him and she doesn't immediatly associate him being the witch she saw with Luz at the start, she just assumed he was another witch who lived there, she only realizes who he is when camp ends. He had agreed to wait with Luz for the bus until some colleagues who were also going to be counselors-in-training were going to pick him up and give him a ride to the camp (to not “embarass Luz by the otehr campers knowing they’re siblings”), so when Camila found Vee alone, she assumed he had already gone.

- And just like Luz, he lied about going to camp to Camila, and lied to the colleagues that he gave up on that (and Vee accidentally helped by giving the same answer when asked about it and panicked). He really wants to know more about where he’s from and about all kinds of magic and everything going on, and he doesn’t want to worry Camila and if he said the truth while Luz was lying it wouldn’t end well for both of them. He’s scared of being forced away from all these things he wants to discover, and doesn’t want it for Luz either, and like her, he loves this new support group they both have. His plan was to keep the lie until camp ended, but we all know this doesn’t go as planned and he gets really nervous about this, like, barely able to keep himself from having a crisis.

- He is very attached to Camila, he would send her messages everyday, and the guilt eats him alive. Luz and he talk a lot about this in the middle of the nights.

- So, portal gets destroyed, camp ends. Camila is (obviously) stressed out by only finding one of her kids and discovering that Hunter never even got there in the first place. She can’t contact him in any way so she’s pretty sure he ran away, maybe to her ex’s house, so this already makes her feel horrible and like she messed up a lot, assuming he hated living there. It worsens a lot of stuff for Yesterday’s Lie.

- Luz does tell that Hunter is fine and with her (he wasn’t on the portal realm doing this experiment with her), and it breaks Camila’s heart to know that, while Hunter is okay, both of her kids are trapped in a different realm, there’s a kid that acted as Luz ever since camp started and she didn’t even know, and that Hunter and Luz chose to stay there and lied to her. I don’t think that, when Luz gets out of the portal, she even tells Hunter about everything of this situation.

- Yeah Yesterday’s Lie made this so fucking sad

There isn't much on the story besides the start and where the second season has stopped for now, the relationships haven't been fleshed out yet and his design also isn't finalized, but I'm so excited to share this au!

Ranch AU

Or, as we all call it, The Cowboy AU

Essentially, this was something that I created, and it’s gonna be purely fluffy, with a small bit of angst here and there. Any of the angst will be hurt/comfort. It’s meant to make us all feel better after those fucking harsh lore streams. I started it, based off of some shit in the Dad!Schlatt AU, and after that I honestly didn’t write most of it. It had really been a project in the discord, because we were all sad and shit, so if you have some fluff to offer, please do! I am happy to make almost anything canon - and we could always use more ideas. :)

I hope you enjoy some mindless farm boi fluff!

BASIC INFO:

It's SBI's Ranch (Phil is Dadza, Tommy, Techno, and Wilbur are his sons)

Phil, sells to the local stores, and manages the crops. He doesn't do too much labor anymore. He hired his boys for that.

Dream, SapNap, Purpled, Tubbo, Callahan, and Punz are all hired farm hands

George, Niki, Ranboo, and Fundy work at the shop where they sell their products; Niki makes all of the dairy products, Fundy and Ranboo stock, label prices, and keeps track of sales, and George works customer service with his Gogy magic.

Wilbur works with the sheep, the goats, and he trains the dogs (Collies - they herd sheep), he also works with the crops a lot

Schlatt isn't hired but he might as well be. He can be found wherever Wilbur is, and is probably drinking a beer he stole from Phil. He doesn't get paid, but he eats all of their food.

Tommy works with the cows, the pigs, the chickens, the horses (sometimes), his goose, and the dogs / cats that they own

Tubbo works with Tommy. Essentially. But he also works on the crops, and the bee farm that they have set up.

Techno works with the horses, and is currently training to be a veterinarian.

Dream works on horses with Techno - they race the horses competitively - but otherwise, is where ever he is needed (usually crops)

Purpled works with Tommy and Tubbo. He mostly works with Tubbo on crops and his bee farm.

Punz and SapNap haul things. As your resident Chads, they are in-charge of moving heavy things and doing manual labor.

Callahan is their repair man. He fixes tractors, and machines on a daily basis.

SOME HEADCANNONS:

HENRY, a saga:

that henry has a matching bandana to the one Tommy has so that everyone knows thats henry. Tommy doesn't like it when people touch henry so henry gets a bandana - Shark -

when Phil first started raising Tommy, he would've never guessed that he would turn out the way he did.

He was loud, and brash, and hit his brothers, and made fun of the neighbor's kids, but then Tubbo became Tommy's best friend, and then Phil introduced Tommy to the cows.

The cows are Tommy's everything.

When a Bred Heifer is due, he sits with them everyday past their due date - he sat with Betty for 5 days when she wouldn't birth a calf. He was so fucking worried.

When one of his cows are sick, he sleeps in the barn until they get better. His last days with Harvey fucked him up.

Tubbo, Tommy, Purpled, and Ranboo spend long nights at the farm, and Tommy always leans against Henry as he stares up at the stars.

Henry who his best girl (all cows are girls and Tommy doesn't give a shit about gendered names). Henry who wears a matching bandana. Henry who is fluffy, and warm, and Tommy's everything. -

Sometimes when Tommy had a bad day, whether it’s stress, or school, or just whatever, Tommy sleeps in the Henry’s stall with her. Phil has so many pictures of Tommy curled up with Henry. From when she was first born to now. - Eye

Tommy hates winter because that’s the one time of year Phil won’t let him sleep in the barn. Even with the layers and heat lamps it’s too unsafe. Tommy always gets up extra early in the winter. Both because he has to check and break ice in the water troughs but also because he misses his girl - Eye -

Henry's mother, Betty, was the first Cow Tommy had helped during birth. He sat with her for 5 days when she hadn't gone into labor past her due date. It took 9 hours for Henry to be born, and Tommy was there through the entire thing -

Well, almost the entire thing. He was at school for the first hour of labor, and was so pissed at Phil when Phil knew and didn't immediately come get Tommy from School.

It always felt like Tommy and Henry had a special bond because Tommy literally raised Henry from birth. -

They didn't think Henry was gonna make it when she was first born, but Tommy was fucking determined, and bottle fed that cow every single day and night. When she was slowly weened off milk, Tommy got unironically sad that he didn't have to bottle feed her anymore.

He still visited her every morning, and milked her mother at dawn, right after he got eggs from his hens. -

Henry waits for Tommy at the end of their long ass drive way when he gets home from school. She knows that when the bus pulls up that her boy is back and so she’s always there waiting lazily for pets and a nice walk together back to the house. Even when it’s cold and someone is waiting for the kids to get home in an ATV or something Tommy always walks back to the house with Henry - Eye

Thinking about how long these fucking country roads are. And how Tommy and Tubbo have the same bus stop even though Tubbo and Tommy's houses are a couple of miles away. Tommy has to walk a mile to get to the beginning of his driveway, and seeing his favorite girl there is like a reward at the end of a journey. Tommy probably keeps a bag of feed in his backpack, which is just a mixture of grain, hay and corn, and gives Henry a handful to thank her for waiting for him.

Clementine, The Goose:

Tommy has a goose, and names it Clementine.

He found her in the woods one day, when she was very young, and he decided he was going to keep Clementine.

Clementine is only ever nice to Schlatt and Tommy. No one knows why.

Clementine follows Tommy around. Very endearing.

Phil doesn’t question it at this point

NEW MILO, the sequel:

OG Milo is a kitten that Wilbur found on the side of the road, in the rain, and he took the kitten in, trying to save him. Wilbur immediately got attached.

Techno pulled an all nighter, half spent trying to save OG Milo and the other half comforting Wilbur. "You couldn't have helped, he was too starved and out in the rain for too long." Phil adds that if Techno can't save something, it can't be saved. - Ethan

Wilbur's next cat was named New Milo in honor - Ethan

Anyway, New Milo has three kittens. Blood God, Boots (given to Fundy), and Bumbles (given to Tubbo). They're called the Bees and they were born Christmas Eve - Ethan

BLOOD GOD, the pussy:

Blood God is Techno's cat. Its just a ferall little molly that loves techno too much. - M -

After Techno helped New Milo have her litter, he wasn't originally gonna keep any of the kittens, but he saw this tiny thing with the orange muzzle and just: stole her.

He is also nicknamed Blood God, for both his skill in hunting and healing

He originally named her Piglet because the orange spot looked like a pig snout [the main reason he chose her and not her stronger littermates] but called her Blood God teasingly when he first adopted her

Wilbur didn't realize he meant it as a nickname and told everyone her name was Blood God

Techno still calls her Piglet, but everyone else calls her Blood God because that's the name on her collar.

Most of their cats aren't collared, but Phil made her a custom collar because he was worried she'd get lost hunting with Techno and Dream - Ethan -

Blood God is such a batshit cat. She's a runt, really, oddly small compared to her siblings, and she's their best mouser

She's the cat that everyone leaves scraps for, but never tries to pet out of fear

Often she'll climb up people's legs and sit on their shoulders, and it's the only time you can pet her.

She is very, very affectionate with Techno and he loves her very much. He has her very well trained, and she comes with him and Dream when they go hunting sometimes alongside a terrier.

She's a little itty bitty calico molly and she has an orange patch right over her muzzle - Ethan

TOMMY'S HENS, the chicks:

He gets real defensive of his hens. They lay eggs for him. They deserve to be treated well. -

Tommy does in fact have an egg incubator; Sometimes it's just better. Tommy prefers letting his hens care for their own eggs, but he does still use the incubator - Ethan -

Some chickens enjoy being thrown so they can flap and shit. A few days after passing ownership of the hens to Tommy, Phil is going down to the crops and just sees Tommy chucking his hens and watching them rush back to be thrown again

he feels a hint of "what the hell" but he notes the gentleness tommy does it with and how the chickens seem to be enjoying it and he shrugs and keeps walking - Ethan -

Once Wilbur was helping Tommy with the chickens and he dropped an egg

Unfertilized, of course, but Tommy looked like you'd just punted a toddler

Three years later, Wilbur isn't allowed to touch the eggs anymore

Tommy's paranoid he'll hurt a live one

"Get out." "What - Tommy it was an accident, it was just one egg." "If you aren't gonna treat Phoebe's eggs with care; You can get the fuck out." "Tommy -" "Out." -

the quality chicken eggs depends usually on how the chicken feels. While under his care, the eggs the chickens produced were really good.

They have their like, main barn and to the side of it is a little pond. The chicken coops are a little beside it, with the singular duck coop (he only has four ducks) closest. He calls the area the Business Bay

Each of the boys get a few animals that aren't allowed to be butchered.

Wilbur has Friend, Enemy, and Skit the Bull. (Wilbur wanted to name a Bull "Shit", but Phil said no because Tommy was 11 and already swearing too much for his liking)

Techno has none of the livestock. He only cares about Blood God, and his horses.

Tommy has a pig [currently unnamed], his Hens (6 or 7 of them, that lay eggs), and his dairy cows -

Phil is ALWAYS chewing on straw. -

Tommy, Techno, and Wilbur all call Phil "Pops" or "Pop". They all used to call him "Papa" though. It's like a coming of age thing for the three of them, when they stop calling him "Papa" and start calling him "Pop".

Phil may or may not have cried when Tommy started calling him "Pop" at the age of 12.

ALTHOUGH, all 3 boys know that if you want anything, you call Phil "Papa". Phil can't resist it. -

I had an idea last night before bed with my OC Kiku and I'm glad I didn't forget it so I'm gonna jot it down here so yall can enjoy it too.

Kiku is my anything-can-happen OC so literally any au works, any scenario can happen, the only canon I have for her is her childhood and relationship to her parents.

So streamer Kiku who plays a balance of cutesy games and horror games. She doesn't need a cat ear headset because she already has cat ears, she has a special headset for her neko ears anyway. She is super cute and nice to everyone who watches her and supports her. Any donations she gets goes to charity. She and her dad match the overall donation amount too. She's just this ray of sunshine.

She was shy in the beginning, so she didn't talk very confidently to her audience but once she grew more comfortable she was doing good. If she gets compliments, she doesn't know how to react. She blushes and mumbles and focuses a lot on the game she's playing. She's really good at adding commentary to her game play, especially if it's a slow game like Animal Crossing. If it's a horror game, she may scream a lot but then laughs because it's so fun.

Now Kiku isn't small. She's a lovely plus sized lady who wears what is comfortable. So she could wear a low cut top and be fine. She'd feel good wearing a dress on stream. She doesn't care. She didn't think it would be different from any comments she's gotten before. However she gets an overwhelming amount of comments calling her "mommy" and shouting out "mommy milkers" those are new to her. And she blushes and hides her face, a little embarrassed. After a while she gets used to it.

Then one day, one Bakugo Katsuki finds her stream. She's playing some indie horror game to give it attention and she's spooked. The lights are dark and moody around her and she gets jumpscared. Her boobs bounce and the comments flood in about jiggle physics and protecting mommy from the monsters. She laughs it off and Bakugo is a little awestruck. She's not some crybaby and she's attractive, so he watches her play. When she talks about how the game works and the graphics, he's impressed by her know-how and her review of the game. He takes note of when people follow her, she calls out their user and thanks them. He doesn't just follow for that, but enjoys hearing Kiku say his user while looking into the camera. Such a sweet, near infectious smile she gives before moving onto the next game.

He tries to tune in to watch her stream every time she's playing, even if it's the games he's not into. He notices how she talks so kindly, never has a bad thing to say. If she didn't like a game, she doesn't even call it bad. When she gets donations, she gives big thank yous to those who donate. She blows kisses for big donations, so he starts giving big sums to her. It gets to the point where she will give two kisses for how big his donations are.

And he doesn't go unnoticed by her. She recognizes his name popping up after a while. He doesn't comment much bit donates a lot. When he donates, she asks him why so much and he always answers its because he "feels like it." Really its because she wants her to talk to him, thank him for it. Just that little bit of her attention directed towards him makes him happy. He thinks all the people who call her mommy or stare at her tits all day don't deserve her attention. If he could be the only person in her stream, he totally would be.

There might be more of this later, idk yet. This is what I have so far 💟

so uh last night at like 4 am i couldnt sleep, decided to walk my dog, and came up with this bad boy. It’s a rough draft, though. um @professional-benaddict read it and told me to post it, so whatever rafni says goes.

-Little! Peter with like everyone lmao (platonically), but main pairing is Tony x Peter. everyone is 18+ and Littles are known. but yeah, I call this “uncanonically Canon AU” because it follows canon character tropes (except Peter).

so i LOVE the doctor trope w stephen and tony to death, like probably a lil too much, but hear me out

--canon tony and the avengers with not canon (aka powerless) little peter

--im thinking how they met is before peter became classified as a little, he was smart smart. so, he still gets the internship, but a real one this time.

--hes hanging out with the other interns when he feels himself regress. he freaks and goes to hide in a bathroom or something

--he runs into (probably pepper??) someone and they help him get out of the tower because he's obviously very vulnerable

--they (pepper?) take him to the hospital to get tested and find out hes a high care little. once they find out peter freaks out because omg he cant work like this

--(pepper?) assures him that they will figure it our, but with no CG, and just for plot sake, he also is living alone at this point so they dont feel comfortable sending him home, so he stays overnight, at least, in the hospital

--(pepper?) goes to talk to tony himself about this since hes the one who chose and hired the interns. tony isnt quite sure what to do because peter is one of the best in their group

--(pepper?) suggests that he go have a one on one talk with peter and see what the boy wants to do with his future, and also meet with the doctors to see what they think is best for his future

--now, tony has met peter a few times, and the kid is pretty cool, but he never really cared about him (harsh, but canon tony is pretty reserved so yuh) so, when he goes into the hospital room to talk with him, hes mentally preparing to never see peter again

--but, when he walks in, he sees peter sat on a cot carefully coloring in an avengers coloring book, and his entire aura is different and /adorable/

--as if he wasnt already kinda done for, when peter notices he's there, he looks up, eyes blown wide and a kid-like face on full of awe

--he sits on the end of the bed and they simply stare at each other before peter finally gets the courage to ask why tony is there, stuttering through it like an adorable mess

--tony freaks out, because as good as peter is, he planned on letting peter down, but now that hes here, all he wants is to see the boy.

--instead he smooths his nervousness and easily asks about how the boy is doing. he asks if peter has a CG, and predicably, peter just sadly shakes his head

--anyways i dont really know how this part would be worded, and it probably wouldnt happen in just one day, but eventually tony asks peter if he wants tony to take care of him

--peter is a cutie and accepts, again dont really have this part planned out, im akward when it comes to writing about the adopting of a little

--he goes with tony and since he lives in the tower, he also gets the avengers as glorified CGs. now this is the part i LOVE

tony stark- he's obviously the main man and does all the main caring. hes the one who sleeps with peter and makes sure he gets food, and plans the days. he also sometimes will hand make little gadgets (safe ofc) to occupy peter. he gets peter little engineering/inventing kits and will hold back any groans he has as peter hits his leg with a plastic hammer and screwdriver. he also is the one who is ALWAYS there, when he cries, when he's happy, when he's sad.

thor- he lets peter play with his hair, and even lets the boy snuggle, and sometimes even chew on, mjolnir (because of course peter would be worthy)

steve rogers- he lets peter look at and hold the shield. one day he finds the boy curled like a cat dosing on the inside of it

natasha- she speaks in russian to him, and when he goes outside to the park, shes there making sure no one disturbs him

wanda+sam (i had an idea for them when i originally thought of this, but i cant remember it now :/)

bucky- he lets peter also mess with his hair, although more rare than thor, but he does let peter suck on his metal fingers when hes really small, and will scratch peters scalp with it, the metal scratching much better than normal skin. also if he ever gets a fever, the cold of the arm feels amazing on his forehead

bruce- not strictly canon since hes more sciency than doctor, but i imagine bruce is the one who does checkups and takes care of the meds when peter is sick

stephen- he doesnt do it often, plus he's not at the tower much, but hell do little harmless "magic" tricks to excite Peter and when peter gets grumpy, stephen will give him a little stress spell thing to calm peter down

peter quill- i imagine hes the one who is down to do lots of fun stuff, but is also the most reckless towards the actions suited towards littles, getting a lot of scolding from tony. also, he has great taste in music, so when peter has bursts of energy, he'll bounce around the room dancing to old 80s music

rocket- hes the closest peters ever gonna get to a pet, and with lots of bribing from tony, rocket /occasionally/ lets peter pet him and feed him "treats", sometimes peter will ask rocket to do a trick like jump or spin, but rocket with always decline...at first. peters trademark pouts do the trick because either rocket will concede and hurt his pride, or tony will see and threaten rocket into making his little boy happy. its always worth it to see the happy little squirms and claps

gamora- she's the resident story teller. when its bedtime, she'll share her cool space stories, leaving out the gory/scarier aspects. it always does the trick as hes out in minutes. sometimes hell catch her and peter q engaging in loving activities (ie kissing, hugging, whatever), and he'll just giggle away, and as embarrassed as gamora gets, not being an openly affectionate person, she might just go to the extreme to hear the cute giggles out of the little boy

clint- hes pretty chill with peter. he also likes to play games with the boy, playing things like peek-a-boo when he's super small, or playing darts when he feels older. tony isnt /too/ happy about it, but its better than quill so he doesnt say anything.

pepper is there too because i love the idea of tony working away somewhere and pepper calling peter in, handing him a few sheets of paper, sometimes actual documents, sometimes just scratch paper to entertaim the boy, before asking peter to deliver them to tony. she always has a smile when peter eagerly nods with his whole body before running to the office to give tony the papers. it almost always ends with peter in his lap, but it /always/ ends in tony praising him, saying something along the lines of 'theres my little helper boy. look at you'

--on any particular day peter wakes up aged up, he doesn't even miss his old internship because this life is so much better, although on these days tony actually lets him help with some safer stuff in the lab with him

--also, they are still the avengers and still have to save the universe. tony leaves him in the care of Happy or Pepper, trusting them both to handle him. sometimes, it ends in disaster. sometimes, they are lucky enough to find happy laying on the couch, with a drooling little boy soaking his suit

--no matter how things end up, it never gets old being able to come home and cuddle up with the reason tony wants to save the universe.

--its no surprise peter is able to help the man just as much as tony helps him. tony stops locking himself up so late at night so he can put peter to bed and cuddle up. he stops drinking when he's stressed, instead finding his boy and reading a story to him. his hookups end, he wants to be there for peter all the time. he gets more work done, the added bonus of having a pretty little boy in his lap helping keep his mind on track.

--tony still has his canon issues, but having peter there makes everything a little more manageable. and when he eventually gets too old to be ironman, its okay, because his universe is lying in bed, a red pacifier in his mouth, and a family of superheroes softly arguing about who the boy loves most

--and despite tony being a narcissist, he knows this is not that, when he thinks that without a doubt he is peters favorite. after all, peter helped him see the good inside the bad

I found your post about character bashing tags intersting. In the modern Harry Potter fandom on Ao3, they are still in use because I think it's become such an integral part of that fandom's culture as a relic of early fandom. But you can see in some more modern fandoms a sort of convergent evolution, for example, in the Sanders Sides fandom, the tags 'Sympathetic' and 'Unsympathetic' get used to warn of character portrayals. I find it interesting how some fandoms have these tags and others don't

It really is fascinating, especially since Sanders Sides isn't exactly a traditional canon, yeah? I mean, just the format of Sanders' vids feels, to me anyway, like it shouldn't produce the need for sympathetic/unsympathetic tagging. They're very archetypal characters that belong to short comedy sketches and aren't following a standard plotline. So my guess (and I'm not in the fandom, so I really am guessing here), is that these more complex portrayals stem from the fandom expanding on the characters past what Sanders actually produced? There just seems to be a fundamental difference between tagging for, say, an unsympathetic Snape when the ethics of his actions are a focal point of the canon vs. taking a character like Patton and going, "But what if we depicted him like an evil stepfather instead?" (With perhaps some comedy-based details for justifying that in the vids. Again, idk the sketches well.) Though there is something intriguing in the idea that, since they're all only one part of a whole personality, each will inevitably cause problems simply by virtue of, you know, not being a "real," balanced person...

Anyway, yeah, I'd love to know how and why each fandom does/does not develop such warnings, though it's notoriously hard to trace that sort of work back to its beginnings. Especially for a fandom as old as Harry Potter, given that so many works have been lost to purged accounts and dead websites, to name just one challenge. My guess (and this is another guess) is that it's a combination of whether the canon is inclined towards needing such warnings and whether the more popular fic writers end up using them. Harry Potter certainly needs them. I can remember the intense conversations surrounding Snape, Ron, Dumbledore, and how much each deserves the readers' sympathy after various types of failures. Again, that was the point in the story, to demonstrate those flaws, but the radically different conclusions fans came to meant that many wanted to warn when their fics were using an "obvious" reading of the characters that others might not agree with. And those fans, likely, had some sort of standing within the community. The golden age of Harry Potter fic (so to speak lol) was also the age of Big Name Fans, so if any of them utilized such warnings, their massive audience was likely to follow suit. And at that point it just perpetuates itself. Yeah, nowadays it's such a staple of the fandom that unless we were to get an influx of new fans who don't bother to read previous fics/emulate them (which is not only really unlikely in general, but feels particularly unlikely as communities like tumblr push for a complete rejection of anything Harry Potter related), then those trends will just keep popping up.

Newer fandoms like RWBY though... they don't have that history. More importantly though, it looks like there's some difference between its community and something like Sanders Sides, which is comparatively new too. I mentioned in the last post a lack of respect and though all fandoms absolutely have their problems and though RWBY absolutely has wonderful pockets (hey, friends!) I stand by my claim that it's one of the more bullheaded fandoms I've come across. Harry Potter has its insane discourse simply by virtue of its popularity, size, and subject matter, but back in the day, debating the actions and worth of characters was fun. Friends online and off got into heated debates specifically because we enjoyed providing evidence, hearing new ideas, and testing our convictions. Arguing (in a respectful manner where everyone implicitly understood that none of us were truly mad) was a Saturday night pastime. Now, it feels like more fans believe in a right and wrong answer, perpetuated by RWBY's black and white canon in recent years. The idea is no longer to acknowledge the complexity inherent in these characters and likewise acknowledge that individual fans will react to them in vastly different ways, but rather to say, "No. They're 100% bad (or good) and that's all there is to it." The tagging acknowledges that this is just one interpretation, whereas many recent fandom pockets believe that one interpretation is all that exists.

I really want to rant about the ending. That was one wild episode 12 and I can't say I loved it, but I didn't hate it either.

Being honest, I think I'm mostly dissapointed things didn't go the way I wanted. I usually expect from a series to let me down in some aspects, but this time I felt like there was no rush of emotions like it happened during the past episodes.

I don't actually mind about the supposed queerbaiting, though I would have wanted Renga and Matcha Blossom to become canon. Alas, a girl could dream.

However, there were many things I believe could have been better, others which were just fine, and others which could have been different altogether from the very start of the series. Overall I feel like the main plot (Langa and Reki facing up against Adam) and the main theme of the anime (skating is a fun thing to do and it's better enjoyed surrounded with friends and people you love) were developed just right. However, the way they got to the results were not the best, in my opinion.

I would like to give my opinion on each character development, so this may take a while. Also, I'd like to point out what I would have wanted to happen, if things were up to me.

First and foremost, Adam is the character I had more trouble with. I didn't love the last beef against Langa much. I've had trouble with the entire Eve thing and the fact that he's a 30-something chasing after a 17 yr old boy, be it romantically or just skate-wise.

I know Adam's sexual preferences are never stated through the whole series but we can imply he does feel a certain attraction towards Langa beyond the skating scene and it is very uncomfortable, not to say wrong.

I loved the idea that he let go of the idea of chasing his 'Eve', to celebrate a wedding for a funeral. I am all for theathrics and drama, and his "final boss" outfit was nuts. The skateboard was awesome too! But the mere implications of him, turning into some sort of Grim Reaper whilst racing against Langa one last time are very bone-chilling, at least to me it was, again, very unconfortable.

I'd have loved for Adam to lose to Reki, OR, Tadashi and Langa to race so that the final encounter could have been Adam vs. Tadashi. That way, I think he'd have gotten to reflect on his actions and actually grow as a character rather than just be cured by the power of fun and friendship.

In the perfect scenario, he'd escape with Tadashi, he'd ditch his job and tell his aunts to go f*ck themselves, close 'S' for good and get some therapy somewhere where he could be happy skating with his beloved assistant.

On the other hand, I was hoping he'd get arrested. I hoped Kiriko got to put him behind bars and ruin his carreer both as a politician and as a skater, so that S would close. Maybe in some sort of epilogue we'd seen him come out of jail and make up with the gang, skating with them again as friends. Maybe Langa would go see him in prison to help. Idk, I feel like he needs retribution and punishment, but he was also a character who needed help.

The last part with Tadashi and the dog thing was weird and I didn't love it, but I think it works for their relationship. I won't complain, some other people here on tumblr have put it into words way better than I would have.

What I feel was the worst, worst thing they could do was have him crash their celebration party, falling ridiculously from a helicopter with a bouquet for Langa. No. No, just no. The creeps again. Ugh.

Then, I have to say the second in line who bothered me the most were Miya and Shadow.

It's silly: I really screamed in rage and pain about Shadow not getting together with the manager. I wanted all the other ships to be canon, but I knew it's Japan we're talking about and I know we'd get teased about it in the best case scenario, but the straight ship? The one they could totally go for? NO! Also, I think Shadow got played dirty, shoving him into the background after he was attacked in ep. 10. We didn't get to see any justice done to him against the dude that beat the crap out of him, if, perhaps, Shadow could beat him again at 'S', this time fair and square.

Miya, oh my poor catboy. Played so dirty as well. I liked the last time we see him when he meets with his friend again in school and they seem to reconect. But I wish we would have gotten to see them skate together again. This is very wishful thinking, but I wished we could have seen Miya a little bit older, when the others could have taken him a lot more seriously. I wanted him to do much more than just be a background character, because he deserved it.

Next is Joe and Cherry. Oh boy. Hold onto your horses, I have a LOT to say about my favourite duo.

Listen here, I wanted them to be canon. I hoped for the discreet rings on their fingers shot, or a sudden drop of any of them that they had been secretly married for the past two years or something like that. I wanted flashbacks to their trip to Paris. I wanted more of their teenage years. I wanted a date night at Sie La Luce. Man, I would have died for a kiss. But, alas, it's Japan we're talking about and I know I'm viewing the series from a western point of view.

But that's not what bothered me. What really bothered me was that all the tension that had been growing since ep. 7 between the two of them and then between them and Adam seemed to be just a stepping stone for Langa to win the tournament. We saw Cherry get slapped with a skateboard just for us, the expectators, to dislike Adam a lot more.

I would have loved for them to have the chance to reconect with Adam, be it by punching him or by accepting a heartfelt apology. Specially Cherry. Kaoru deserved MUCH better than what he got, and Joe deserved better than what we've got to see from him. The last scene we saw of them, idk, I thought it was funny and I loved how Cherry showed so little professionalism by drawing on his bf in public. LOL.

But I also didn't like it. I think they ended up being comic relief when they were two of the most wonderfully developed partners in the whole series, even if we've just got some crumbs of their relationship. Also, Joe's deep and caring personality, the whole pinning on Kaoru situation, feels like it matters so little when we see him back at the starting point, just being a shameless flirt. The advantage I see from all of it is that we've got a lot left to the imagination with them.

(Man, i would have loved to see Joe punch Adam in the face with a skateboard at the celebration party after his arrival on the helicopter).

And finally, Reki and Langa. Being honest? I actually loved them. I didn't mind there wasn't a explicit moment of romance or a confesion. That was never the point. The symbolism of their 'friendship', of their bond, is more than enough for me.

I think Langa was slightly too overpowered. As I said before, I think the beef was a little too over the top, but, mah, I've seen a lot of sports anime, its not that over the top. I'd have loved to see him snowboarding at some point, perhaps then we'd have seen Langa as a very talented athlethe and not just some random teenager with crazy skills he just pulled out of his pretty canadian butt. Then again, the little scene with his father's memory was really nice. Closure over mourning, that's a wonderful thing to do.

Reki, my boy, on the other hand, I loved him. Cheering for his bf and believing in him and waiting for him at the end of the line, *chef's kiss*. The part where Langa falls over him and they hug on the ground, perfect, hilarious. The insinuation that they are both happy when they are together, yes, yes, good. The last scene with Reki and his family, I love it! I have nothing wrong to say about Reki. I love him and I'd give an arm for him.

Overall, it was a good series. It could have been done better. The ending could have been better. I would love a sequel anyway, if only they could focus on the plotlines they left inconclusive and, for god's sake, they kick the creepyness down a notch. For what I conclude, the entire series was meant as fanservice and they didn't imagine it would grow so big. Anyway, I will keep writing Matcha Blossom, I really loved them and I hope this is not the last we ever see of them all.

so for Tim:

 A (realistic headcanon): i will stand by this being realistic but TIM CONTINUING TO SKATEBOARD! like okay yes in canon he only used redboard like twice, and once he had his car back he didn’t really rely on it, but he put the time into learning how to and really enjoyed it! i think it would be fun to see him do it more and like i think steph could also skate with him (altho honestly she has more roller skate energy to me but they could still hang out at a skatepark together) i also have this idea for a fic im at some point going to write of Damian finding redboard and Tim being like ‘oh i can show u how to use that-‘ and him being like ‘NO i will do it on my own’ but eventually it becomes a whole bonding thing for them

B (hilarious): other people joke about this a lot but Tim skateboarding around Wayne Enterprises will NEVER cease to amuse me. just the general chaos of a seventeen year old in a power position like that. I think like Lucius and Tam would keep record of stupid shit he does (skateboarding in the office, Interesting fashion choices, the mountain of mugs and takeout containers that build on his desk, his use of glitter gel pens on official documents, threats to pull a seto kaiba and make WE’s primary goals be trading card related, etc) and make a lil scrapbook to give him on his 21st birthday or something when he’s like Slightly More of an adult

C (heart-crushing): Young Justice being Tim’s first friends he can feel real around that he doesn’t think are going to just be temporary. like... i’ve done a lot of rambling about Tim and again we know he’s a kid who grew up going from boarding school to boarding school, he could make friends easily enough but they were very... fleeting. they weren’t meant to last and he went into it knowing that. even though at the start of the group he couldn’t tell them everything, I feel like Young Justice were just the people he eventually was able to be himself the most around, since he didn’t need to hide being Robin. (again him needing to hide being Tim for a while definitely created some distance, but it was very different than hiding the whole hero life from people he knew at home and at school) and then ya know the core four group moving onto the titans together further solidifying this sense of ‘we are a group who can get through stuff together’... until it all falls the fuck apart after Kon dies. and Tim & Cassie have their weird bad coping things. and Bart dies. i think for Tim it would just be so crushing to have the first group he was able to consider being more permanent fall apart like that (not to mention his dad and steph dying around the same time on top of it- being two of the other types of relationships [familial and a romantic partner] that had more permanence to him) and even when people come back and bonds heal, that sense of stability would just forever be shattered, he lost them once and knows that it could happen again and that fear would always be there in the back of his mind

D (canon is a coward and won’t): that he is bisexual LMAO

aaand now Steph

A (realistic headcanon): alright this is kinda canon related but okay. we have seen MULTIPLE alternate versions of Steph with really short hair (future state, that time she imagined herself as nightwing, earth-3) so i really feel like by current-ish canon she’s already thinking about chopping her hair off, like it’s one of those ideas that just every now and then she’ll see someone with super short hair and be like oh... i want that... but never really go through with it (like she’s had some kinda short looks preboot but i think the shortest was like a bob. im talking pixie cut here) and like im imagining maybe after some mission her hair gets caught on something or even burned or idk and she just says fuck it and her, Cass and Tim get back to one of their apartments/a safehouse after patrol and cut her hair in the bathroom at like 4am (yes im aware i place many situations in the middle of the night in the bathroom with friends... [like that timkon fic i wrote a bit ago] its just such a special setting okay) like Cass with the scissors Tim’s holding up a reference pic Steph found on pinterest. it looks great once it’s done

B (hilarious): the eggplant vs purple thing. i think that now in this post death metal world of dc, where everyone’s remembering things from before the reboot, steph should have a small mental breakdown about how she betrayed her old self by rallying behind the color purple (‘enemy of crime and people who hate purple!’) vs how she used to be so insistent her color scheme was eggplant (‘its eggplant. purple would look stupid’). everyone else is having their brains break because of like conflicting memories of their traumas (and she’s got that goin on too, dont get me wrong, she’ll get to freaking out about that later) but steph is just sitting there staring at a color wheel trying not to cry

C (heart-crushing): i’ve seen some fics explore this a little but i think she’d end up doing a lot of thinking about her baby that she gave up for adoption. like that was something she experienced so young and i feel that would just always be a lurking thought in her mind, where is the baby? is she happy? gotham’s a dangerous city, there’s a lot to be afraid about there. Not that she wouldn’t already because she is just a caring big sister type of person, but I think Steph looking out for all the kids in Gotham (especially once she’s batgirl) in some small part could tie back to wanting to make sure her kid is safe out there wherever she ended up. (additionally since she had a rough upbringing with her whole dad situation she just especially is protective over kids anyways. Sometimes I think she might get kinda insecure about it… maybe even question herself about why she’s saving people, is it because she genuinely cares or is it something more selfish? it’s definitely a self doubt i could see manifesting)

D (canon is a coward and won’t) not to be repetitive but also that she is bi i will stand by this

Gossip Girl, EP. 4 Reaction & Review

Finally, I've gathered all of my thoughts for ep. 4! I had this really cool extra post to the intro and had more thoughts but then I lost the entire thing so I had to re-write the entire post SO, yeah, this is all I have for this part. Also, if anyone has those bts photos please let me know, i’m looking for the ones that have the audience reacting to max’s dick pick from the fashion show, aki biting his lip. please send.

ADULTS:

Kate & CO: JAIL JAIL JAIL. We had that one teacher being turned on by incest and ruining kids lives. DO BETTER IN JAIL. I'll say tho, the male teacher makes a better gossip girl, he doesn't feel bad and is enjoying it. Kate could never.

Rafa: JAIL. JAIL. JAIL. JAIL. JAIL. I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU, WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU. I hate that they showed us this man having common sense. This man, pushing Max away sexually but understanding that he needs serious help. I hate that they just didn't have them flirting and show us him saying no, I'm so upset. I'm even more upset that I fell for him being the character to subvert the trope. I can only blame myself but blame HBO as well. I also hate the comments saying it's okay or well, the show needs scandal and spice. They could've been photographed together in normal clothes, just standing next to each other. Max could lie to GG. There are a bunch of ways these could become an IC scandal without having them cross the line. If you support this, you need help.

OUR KIDS:

Max: My boy needs therapy, lots of it. Maybe rehab. On one hand, he's being taken advantage of because he's clearly going through something and more than just his dads and he has been for a while. His escapism is dangerous and anyone would be able to prey on that. On the other hand, I need someone to beat his ass. His lines to Rafa about money and career were punch worthy and out-right willing to lie about Rafa doing something to him, even just to press Rafa's buttons. He needs help, he needs to be taught boundaries, he needs a lot. And why were the only two people concerned for his week-long disappearance Aki and Audrey, the whole squad should've had the guns out, friends since childhood, sure.

Obie: My boy, I get that you didn't like where you saw Zoya headed. I get that in some aspects you were right about her being a little too involved and suspecting Julien. That being said, she was having real problems and troubles and needed support. Do better. Obie still isn't the worst character on the show and many of them are SOOOO much worse. He doesn't deserve the all of the smoke he's been getting when their are better people for it.

Monet & Luna: I hate them as people and love them as characters that move the plot. I guess I could see how they thought the fuck school thing was horrible (and Julien too since she planned on showing Obie). The directors cut, I don't think they thought it'd ruin Zoya, they're just fucking cruel and found it funny. Let's box. Also, why are ya'll so pressed over this CHILD. Like get over it, find a real up-coming social media star.

Aki & Audrey: My good sis, you brought a gay man to make Aki jealous. I'm sick, it was fucking funny. Her comments at first were off the wall, I wish the writers would've done something else but a lot of woman don't see it as normal so I sort of get it. I'm glad she came around by the end. And Aki...he was a little spicy this episode, my boy was ready to pop off a bit AND I AM HERE FOR IT. My dude said, 'I don't regret kissing him' I was THROWN. Aki being with Audrey helps me like her more because she's a bitch that's still ready to gun for a now 15 year old girl but her and Aki's relationship is cute. They could break up and be fine which is great, I love that their relationship is really more than just dating and the friendship is strong. I'm here for it.

Zoya: It's just bad writing but my head canon is trauma. Trauma from her moms death death, trauma from the past and current bullying that caused her lash out. I felt like this was her breaking point (so far) and anything gossip girl related as always came around to Julien. If she trusted Julien more, she wouldn't have thought of her as the person causing her issue's but she doesn't trust her. They were civil but even at the end of ep 2. Her 'hell yeah' to Julien about bonding was too dry, too dry. I think a big part of her just doesn't trust Julien and she'll always think the worse because she's seen mostly the worse. And that video, horrible, I'd hate everything about my birthday too after that and even before. Her emotions during the scene and the talk with Julien, ouch. And while I'm happy that Zoya found herself in the end, YES GIRL POP OFF. THIS IS WHAT I WANTED. THIS IS THE FLAVOR. I WAS WAITING FOR THIS AND I WANT MORE. I DEMAND MORE. I SEE A SPARK OF A BITCH, LET HER OUT GO, GO ALISON DELAOTRUINES ON THESE BITCHES.

Julien: Once again, I love Julien as a character, I know she's supposed to be struggling and for that, It's fun to watch her BUT. Julien could never be on my team, she's too wishy-washy. That is my issue, she's too, just...flip-floppy with no substance. Like, when she does things wrong, they're expected to be forgiven / are forgiven without true reflection or anything on her part. She fucks up, she see's its wrong and then she says sorry and goes on it does it again. This episode was just the worst example, like, the moment she heard buffalo, she was ready to send in a tip. Instead of just doing the party normally and being best because she's hear, she sends the video to Monet. She believes Luna and Monet (Monet talking about her throne being taken when Zoya isn't even an influencer) and she eats it up. They were the ones who did the dick pick thing, like girl, THINK. And why does she never get the full plan, why would she not watch the video or why is she so shocked that Luna and Monet would play something like that? She knows them. Friends since childhood? Sure. Using your moms name to make the party about charity? SIS, THE FEUD IS NOT WORTH IT. She says she wants to be sisters but then she switches up so fast and the witches up again, it's whip-last and I'm sick. I hate that she's doing this to her and I hate even more that's is the writers fault. I don't mind a character having personal conflict but make it a conflict. Like after four episodes, why is she still friends with her sisters bullies? At the end of the episode, she says she's gonna tell them to lay down their weapons, NO, shut it down. correct them. make it clear and make it known. I love my girl because she's flawed but I wish they'd linger on things and have her really think about it. I was fine with the i'm sorry speech up until the camera part.

Other random thoughts

fuck the rafa max thing again, i'm not over, i will never be over it

evan mock isn't the best but he does give me face at times, his 'wtf stare', little sly looks, the 'wtf' moment when audrey first asked him if he was gay like 'this bitch' also, give him more annoyed, irritated scenes, he gives in those

have julien go full nice or full evil for a while, pick a side and stick with it for more than one episode

i wish zoya was a bitch at her old school but i'm fine with this too, it explains why she was so reactionary when it came to the bullying at constance, not again!

i wish we could've seen julien talk with davis after that stunt

nick and davis, KISS, the ride scene was 100%

don't talk about obie so soon

i like that she chose to be with julien for the night, it was cute

emily makes these faces that i can't get with

eli brown is a good actor, that shot of him during the traumatic reveal

i will say, zobie might be boring but when they talk, they talk, their communication is p good, i don't hate it

i’d be here for obie x aki bc they’re friends, they got chemistry, aki was giving look lil up and downs this episode, aki was giving a lot of looks this ep, honestly, idk i just don’t want him heart broken

aki menzies is still my comfort character

i couldn't take rafa serious with his ass out,

whitney's acting in that talk scene, perfect, my girl had me in tears because DAMN

jordan is pretty good but in that scene, go girl, give me nothing

fuck max and rafa

max lied about his dads or at least one, AT LEAST one, i don't think they'd do that, he saw his in and took it

aki and aud, just have that open relationship, ya'll will make it, the way he tucked into her, it was so sweet

davi and nick secret relationship plot

jail for all of the teachers, once again

the hallway scene was great, the cinematography is been clutch overall

music wasn't as jarring

that's about it! i have more thoughts on the show overall that might be another post, they have a lot of amazing ideas but they need to stick with one and flush it out is the overall gist, i'm still into it!

can't wait for five bc i love the angst that's about to hit.
