Sat on your knees, you were hunched over the toilet, letting out all of last night’s remains. The events of the previous night were still a blur to you, but that wasn’t really your main concern at the moment. “That’s good. Let it all out.” Your boyfriend was standing behind you, holding your hair back so it wouldn’t get dirty or in the way.

Mumbles of regret left your lips and you turned your head to look at Finnick. The corners of his lips tugged into a slight smile as he said, “What did I tell you last night?”

He handed you a glass of water he had already prepared for you before you woke up. With a roll of your eyes, you took a sip of the water before responding unwillingly, “To not drink so much…” Finnick couldn’t resist the laugh he let out at the slight pout on your face. He thought it was cute how much you were regretting all of last night.

You sighed and took a moment to yourself on the bathroom floor, your head spinning uncontrollably. When you wanted to lay down, your boyfriend knew that was his cue to bring you back to bed.

He scooped you up and you wrapped your arms the back of his neck. After he had put you down on the bed, he got up to get something to eat and medicine for you. “Wait,” You said while you grabbed ahold of his arm, “Can you stay, please? Just for a little while.”

And oh, how could he turn you down when you looked up at him so sweetly. He nodded and got in the bed beside you. As you settled your head on his shoulder, you let out a small sigh. “I knew you were gonna regret drinking so much.” Your boyfriend commented with a chuckle, earning a small groan from you.

I really love CF and the Suzanne's idea of Quarter Qell, but I would sell my soul, if she wrote one book more, before this one, where Katniss and Peeta would be mentors and we could see not only how their relationship develops (which I would love to see), but also how they would enter into an alliance with Joanna and Finnick and other mentors and victors. And of course Haymitch and Effie taking care of them at every step. This would be fantastic.

finnick odair loves knitting and crocheting!! we know he's super experienced with knots and nets, so it's no surprise he is also good with yarn.

on your birthday, he gifted you a knitted blanket, and now you use it every single time he's not there to be your personal heater. on random days he surprises you with crochet animals like an adorable turtle or a big starfish. also he loves crocheting clothes for you!! any sweater or top you liked in the market, he is dedicated to making it for you

i’m the one who sent that gummy smile request like 2 weeks ago 😭😭 but like lemme explain

so y’know how people have a fake smile when they really don’t like somebody but they have to put on an act? yeah that’s the reader.

and like finnick is really observant so obviously he can tell. but he doesn’t really know her yet so his main goal is to get her to really smile. so he takes her out to dinner privately and he’s just trying to get her to smile at him genuinely and when he’s finally about to give up, he spills something on himself and it makes the reader laugh and her genuine smile pops out!! and he can’t help but forget about the fact that his suit has a stain because he’s finally got this girl to smile!

He finally got a date with her, finally.

After trying for months, he finally got her to agree to go out with him.

She was rather closed off, not very social, and while the whole capitol fell for her fake smile, all the victors knew she didn't really like being there.

Most of them were content to just ignore her the same way she ignored them. Finnick was not.

He'd tried to get her to smile numerous times, and it always ended in him receiving thst sickly sweet fake smile of hers.

So he finally got her to agree to a date, more for the publicity than her own interest. Though she had to say, out of everyone who'd tried to get her attention, finnick was definitely the most intruiging.

He'd been cracking jokes the whole night. He seemed almost.. desperate to get her to laugh, really laugh.

He'd set his mind on it, and finnick wasn't one to give up easily.

As the night slowly came to an end, finnick sorely disappointed that he couldn't vet this girl to smile at him. He was getting tired, and when he went to pass his card to the waiter to pay the bill, he slipped.

His glass of wine was sent down the front of his shirt, staining the delicate white fabric.

And she smiled, really smiled. It wasn't quite a laugh, but it was almost one.

He was happy with that.

I think the most radical thing the hunger games does is tell young people that the most revolutionary thing you can do is have unconditional love for humanity. Katniss throughout the entire series is guided by a deep sense of compassion for the people around her. It is what causes her to volunteer, to bury rue, to mercy kill cato, its why she tries to save peeta, why finnick telling her to remember who the real enemy is works, and even though her compassion for the larger world falters when peeta is kidnapped, it comes back when she visits hospitals and asks for mercy for other victors and ultimately, it is love and belief in a better humanity that makes her kill coin. Through it all, she maintains an unfaltering belief in the fundemental goodness of humanity, which is diametrically opposed to dr gaul's and snow's worldview. Peeta is even more unwaveringly compassionate

So the series tells young people that the most revolutionary thing you can be is compassionate. Let compassion drive your politics. Let yourself believe in the fundemental goodness of people. And i think that's deeply important in a world that touts the superiority of pure reason or logic, to allow yourself to be guided by something as emotional as compassion. Katniss everdeen tells us that your politics should be rooted in compassion in a world that thinks detatchment or cynicism is intelligence and i think thats v cool
