------------------------------------
You sat on the street, overheating as you watched the ‘heat waves’ coming off the ground. You held your hair up with one of your hands since you had nothing to tie it with, while the other held a lukewarm water bottle. You sighed, you felt so anxious and frustrated.
What now?
You thought letting your mouth part due to your heavy breathing
You took things too fast. It had been about 3 weeks since you left your parents ‘home’ and why did you leave? Well there were a number of reasons that are a bit too much to list, but all that matters now is that you’re completely and utterly on your own.
You only managed to scavenge small jobs here and there to get some money to buy some basic necessities but nothing more.
“Sorry Y/n, my niece is coming down to Tokyo and I told her she could have a job here and stay at the studio above...I’m gonna have to let go. I’m sorry.” said your boss to you only a couple hours ago, with pity filled eyes
“...No it’s fine really! I understand.Thank you for taking me in while you could.” you said bowing your head at the man, biting your inner cheek trying to keep a level head
“I’m happy you understand. You can leave your apron and hat on the cashier. On your way out.” he said patting your shoulder as you slowly brought your head up
“Right..” you said taking off your apron and hat as you walked slowly to the cashier, placing it down
You brought your hands to your temples out of stress, trying to figure out what you could do now. You only had very little money, and there was a heat wave striking Japan this week. At least your boss allowed you to live and pay rent in the small studio right above his store, which had an AC, but now that was for his niece.
This had been the first time in a while where you had no idea what to do. You had always been the type of person to be able to take care of yourself and your problems..on your own. All your life since you can remember, you always had to be the one to take care of others, not that you mind or minded...but you were only so young. You never really had a childhood, at least not that you can remember. You do remember cleaning up after your parents who lost all will just to even... parent. You remember taking jobs as a babysitter at a really young age in your apartment complex to make some money.. You remember being the reliable older kid of your school and complex, where kids would come to you asking for help with things like homework all the way to buying something for them to eat because they were hungry. Not once did you ever say no, because you really did want to be there for those kids who’s parents didn’t give them the care they needed. But it just became too much.. You ended up spending all of your saved up money on them, just so they could have something to play with or something to eat.
Before you even realized it, you were in your last year of high school, with no money saved over, no scholarships, no one to rely on but yourself. Not even a friend. Was it really the right thing to do? Use all your money that you worked so hard for to help kids he lived next door? Or just plain stupid? You knew you couldn't support them forever...but you tried so hard to. All you wanted was to give them a childhood they never had, and someone to look up too. But now you left them. All because you were frustrated. You felt so unbearably guilty. All the work you put into your studies to get at least some type of scholarship just went to waste because you couldn't handle your life anymore. You were being so so so stupid.
Before you even knew it, the sun was going down, and you grew even more tired and sleepy. You signed, taking a jacket out of your bag and placing it on the ground so you could rest your head on it. You brought your hands to cushion your cheek as your eyes started to close. The air finally got a little cooler making it easier to breathe and well...do anything.
As you were falling asleep you could hear chatter and laughing, and finally a tap on your shoulder waking you up. You cringed your eyes before opening them up more to see 2 women. One had blonde hair and the other had pinkish hair. They looked older than you, maybe in their 20’s. One held a bag and the other held a bottle of wine with two glasses, they bent down so their heads could be closer to yours. After examining you for a bit they turned to each other and smiled happily before turning back their gaze to your confused face.
“Hey?” you said sitting up more, a little startled by the intimate contact they were giving you
“Hey there, say...what’s a pretty girl like you sleeping on the street for?” asked the girl with pinkish hair that was tied into pigtails
“I uh..don’t have a place right now so..” you said scratching your head
“Really? Hmmm.” said he one with blonde hair
“How old are you? And what’s your name? I think we can help you out! Woman to woman!” said the pink haired girl smiling sweetly making you feel fuzzy at their niceness
“18, and it’s Y/n.” you said smiling nervously
“Nice to meet you Y/n, I’m Remi, this is Rema, my twin sister.” said the pink haired girl pointing to the blonde as she waved sweetly
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you too..!” you said bringing your hands to your thighs smiling
“So did you just turn 18?” asked Rema
“Sorta, 2 months ago, why?” you asked
“Oh good!” they both said
“Well, it’s your choice really. One of the girls left today, and the boss sent us to scout another girl to take her place, buttt we just went to buy food with no intentions of finding someone but luckily we just found you! It’s perfect!” said Remi
“Oh? What work?” you asked getting excited
“Oh silly, we live in a brothel! It’s really not all that bad you know, great pay and rooms...so what do you think?” asked Rema
“A brothel..” you said under your breath
Your mind was in a serious state of concentration.
It can’t be all that bad, right? You just have to please people and go on with your day so… that’s what i've been doing my whole life… plus… there's a bunch of women in those things right? I probably won't get too much attention from customers if there's sweethearts like Remi and Rema walking around...so...just for the time being… I think it could really work out in my favor.
You thought to yourself
You brought your head up, giving the girls a closed eyes smile before shaking your head ‘yes’ making them jump in excitement.
“Oh good!” yelled Remi grabbing your hands
“I’m so excited! We haven't had a new girl in years! How do you think Ken will react?” asked Rema smiling as you 3 all started to walk
“Ken?” you asked furrowing your eyebrows at the familiar name
“Oh right, We’ll have to introduce you to him and everyone else tomorrow. He’s the bosses foster kid..I think you two are actually the same age.” said Rema bringing her pointer finger to her chin
“Mhm mhm! Oh and since you're new, tomorrow I will take your pictures for the board, you can borrow one of my sets till you can afford to buy one for yourself, how does that sound Y/n?” asked Remi smiling and holding your hand
“It sounds..great! Thank you so much.” you said bowing your head slightly
“No worries! Hopefully the boss will take you in.” said Remi patting your head
“Yeah..” you said as you 3 continued to walk to the brothel
You couldn't seem to get your mind off of that familiar name..Ken? You swore you knew someone named that. It definitely wasn't a popular name so it’s not like you knew it from some type of T.V program.. After thinking hard your whole way to your new home you couldn't seem to remember them. The person named Ken. And so you decided to brush it off for the time being.
The brothel was pretty big, and consisted of 12 girls, not including yourself. It was really late so everyone was asleep. Remi and Rema showed you to your room which was much more spacious than your room at home. They told you that you were allowed to decorate it and style it however you wanted. But they told you it was important to know that this was the room where business would be done, and not to leave important things around since some of the men came into brothels for the sole purpose of stealing. Remi even told you a story about how one of her clients tried to steal one of her panites, but then the boy named Ken stopped him by knocking him out with one punch to the stomach.
“He sounds strong-” you laughed as they gave you a small tour
“He sure is! Like the bodyguard of this place! He’s a sweetheart!” said Remi smiling
“I’m sure..!” you smiled
“Alright that’s about it, you should shower now and get ready for tomorrow. The boss will probably wanna take a look at you before seeing if he wants you. But I'm sure he will! You're pretty so it’ll go smoothly!” said Remi handing you her shower stuff for you to use for tonight and a set
“Got it, and again...thank you so much. I really appreciate it.” you said again
“Of course! Remember..we’re neighbors so feel free to knock whenever you need something..Also I can give you some tips before your first client so you know what to do.” she said smiling
“Right, goodnight then!..” you said feeling your face get hot at how she so easily talked about sex.
After that, you did exactly as she said, you showered. You thoroughly washed your body, face, and hair. Getting out you looked down at the set Remi gave you. It was just a black bra and matching panties with a silk cover up which made you feel better knowing you could cover up with that.
You rubbed your mouth as you started to rethink your decision. I mean...you respected sex workers..but was this life what you were willing to settle for? Aimlessly waiting around for some random horny man to choose you and do things with you just for you to get only 40% of the payment? Was this all really worth it? Leaving home to avoid your problems...to end up here? You were grateful, yes, Remi and Rema were so sweet and open with you. You could only hope that the others were just as nice. You really wanted things to go well, and that can only start with some good rest.
You woke up to a knock on your door, to see Remi and Rema walking in with a smile
“Morninggg!” they sang as you quickly got out of bed
“Hi!” you said frantically
“No need to rush! Usually men start coming in at 10, but since you don't work here officially yet you got to sleep in a bit! But the boss called for you, you should go to the set up room down the hall to get ready, remember it?” asked Rema
“Yeah I do. Thank you for waking me-!” you said smiling and grabbing your stuff and shoes
“Course, good luck Y/n!” they said as you quickly walked out of your room to get ready
As you walked in, there were a few other girls getting ready. You smiled and introduced yourself to them, and them to you. They were all so nice and pretty. It made you feel a little bit better about being here, and less nervous since they complimented your looks. You got ready in about 10 minutes, letting one of the other girls help you out with your hair and stuff like that. You gave yourself one last look in the mirror before stepping out and waving to the girls ‘bye.’
You nervously walked to the boss's door. You took a deep breath before knocking. You heard a muffled ‘come in!’ so you walked in smiling while holding your covering close. You gave a nervous closed eyes smile before seeing his office was simple, just a desk with a bunch of papers and a chair on the other side.
“Y/n, correct?” he asked placing down his paper and taking off his glasses to look at you
“Yes.” you said smiling
“Pleasure-” he said leaning over the desk to shake your hand
“Likewise.” you said smiling, shaking his hand firmly before sitting down
“Well, I’m sure Remi and Rema told you just about everything you need to know, I take 60% of your earrings, I use that stuff to pay for rent and bills for you girls and my kid… which usually takes up about 30% of that 60%, meaning you make a profit of 40, while I make only a profit of 30 per girl.” he said
“Yeah, I was told.” you said smiling nervously fiddling with your hands
“Good good, now that that's over with..” he said getting up ad signing
“I’m just gonna take a look at you, no need to be nervous I’m not gonna touch you or anything, so please don’t feel worried.” he said smiling
“Right!” you said getting up
“Alright just do a quick 360 with arms up.” he said smiling
“Okay.” you said doing as he said
He looked you up and down but not in a lustful way at all, it was more of like a ‘just seeing how you’ll hold up’ kinda look, almost like he was a bit worried for you.
“Thank you-” he said sitting back down as you did the same feeling nervous
“I was also told you’re 18? Right?” he asked looking down at his papers
“Yeah that's right.” you said
“Well I don't usually have this talk with the other woman because they're older. I know the age of consent in Japan is 16 and blah blah, but you’re still pretty young, are you sure you wanna work like this?” he asked looked into your eyes
“...Not entirely but it’s the best I can do right now.” you said with a determined face
“I see- we’ll then welcome, and just remember you can leave whenever you want, but give a 2 weeks notice. When Remi is done, ask her to take your picture.” he said
“Understood, thank you!” you said said smiling and leaving
You walked out of the room, closing the door carefully signing in relieve
That went pretty well.
You thought
You started to walk down the hall so that you could ask Remi to take your picture. But when you put your ear to the door, you heard lewd noises letting you know she wasn’t done just yet. It was already 5, and the brothel closes at 10. You didn’t really know what to do, so you walked over to the kitchen, sitting down at one of the stools waiting for Remi and or Rema to finish up with their work. You tapped the pen that was on the table and started to look around the kitchen. You remembered Remi told you there were snacks in the cabinets, so you got up and started to open and close them one by one to find something to eat. You finally found a cabinet filled instant ramen, you grabbed one and started to pour water into it, popping it into the microwave that was on the counter top. You stood in front of it waiting, playing with the loose strings of you covering when suddenly you heard the door open.
“I’m home.” said the tall boy with dark hair tied back to reveal a dragon tattoo on the side of his head
Is this Ken?
You thought as the microwave beeped, making his eyes turn to you
You quickly shot your eyes to the microwave, hoping he didn’t notice your stare. He looked so familiar it was almost irritating how you couldn’t remember him. You took the hot cup out of the microwave, placing it down on the counter top, ignoring his presence as he walked over, placing down the plastic bag in his hand, noticing your frustrated face trying to figure out where the utensils are.
“Left of the sink are where they are.” he said sitting down on the stool across from you after looking at your face a bit
“Thank you.” you said smiling nervously turning around to grab a pair of chopsticks
“Are you new here?” he asked taking out a styrofoam box from the plastic bag, opening it to reveal a hot meal of meat and rice and vegetables
“Yeah..I was supposed to start today but I don’t have my pictures taken yet.” you said smiling turning back to mix your noodles
“Could you grab me a pair too?” he asked realizing he forgot to take a pair of chopsticks from the restaurant
“Sure-” you said turning back quickly to grab some for him, placing it in his hands as he gave you a soft smile making your eyes widen slightly.
“You look familiar..” you both said at the same time making both your eyebrows raise in shock then turn into a slight scoff from the both of you
“Glad we’re on the same page then.” he said taking a bite of his food as you did the same still standing
“You know you can sit down, don’t feel nervous.” he said looking up you slightly
“..yeah.” you said smiling, walking around and sitting next to him.
“So when’d you come?” he asked turning his head slightly to see your mouth filled with noodles making him smile a bit
“..I came by last night, really late with Remi and Rema.” you said after finishing your bite
“I see...I feel like I remember you from somewhere, can’t pinpoint it though.” he said looking back down at his food
“Same here, and you must be Ken though, right? When I first heard your name I swore the same thing but I just can’t remember..” you said before sipping some of the broth of your soup
“Yeah, but you can call me Draken and your name?” he asked getting up to grab a napkin from across the table
“Draken...sure! Oh right, my bad. It’s Y/n. Nice to meet you-” you said smiling holding your hand out for him to shake
He only completely shot up to look into your eyes with his wide ones. You gave him a confused look as you watched him get knocked out of his thoughts, bring his hand up to shake your hand before clearing his throat and walking back over to sit. Maybe you struck a nerve? Maybe had the same name as someone who hurt him in the past? You really didn’t know but it made you feel interested. He looked like he just had his life flash before his eyes or something.
“Are you okay?” you asked
“Uh yeah, I’m fine. My head just hurts a bit.” he said looking as if he was deep in thought
“Oh? I have some tylenol in my room.. You want one? Or I can make you a cold drink, you’re probably dehydrated?” you asked smiling a bit
Draken turned his head to look at you, his mouth was parted, and he just looked so..anxious? You couldn’t even tell, almost like congested because he wanted to say something.
Draken felt his heartbeat quicken when he heard your name. As soon as you said it, a random memory that was buried deep in the back of his mind hit him as he quickly re-lived it. But could it really be you? The Y/n he knew from so so so long ago? Around 10 years ago? There could be no way, he remembers the girl moving to a different city..the chances were so low that it could really be you already.
But the second you said those words.. Those words of offering to make something for him, or give him something, despite you thinking you only just met him...Made him know that it was really the Y/n he met when he was only a little boy...but how the hell did you turn up here? In a place and part of town like this? He was so confused and just wanted to ask you...but you still didn’t remember him.
“..No I’m alright, thanks..can I ask you somethin-” said Draken before being interrupted
“Y/n!! Come on, let's take your pictures!” yelled Remi coming out of her room waving as a man walked out too buttoning his shirt
“Sorry, just remember what you wanted to say and tell me later.” you said smiling and standing up and walking over to Remi
Draken watched you as you walked away. He saw Remi give you a hug, and the man that was walking out checked you out to which Draken gave him a pissed off look. Making the man smile nervously, wave, and leave.
Do you really wanna live your life like this, Y/n?
He thought to himself before packing up his trash and throwing it away
Remi took your pictures, telling you to do different poses etc, and you finally settled on one. You walked over to the front of the house to place your picture in its designated area above your name. You signed, stepping back to look at it, fixing your gaze to see Draken was walking over with his hands in his pocket, looking as he was going to leave. You saw him glance at the photo making you feel slightly embarrassed.
“Nice.” he said smiling but looking into your eyes in a way where it looked like he was concerned for you.
Just as you were about to thank him a man walked in and started looking at you making you feel nervous. The man requested you, and so you smiled at him pointing your hand to where the showers were, as you started to walk behind him, you turned your hand giving a thumbs up to Draken with a nervously flushed face, smiling, as he he brought his hand up giving you a thumbs up with soft and concerning eyes before opening the door and leaving. It made your smile fade slightly, you’ve seen that face before from him. But not from today.. And it was all you could think about during your work.
As you laid in your room, after work you couldn’t help but feel a little bit...stupid? You felt so unsatisfied, not because of your customers but because you just couldn’t remember. It felt like an itch you couldn’t scratch hard enough, and with every interaction you had with the boy almost felt like a tease, like the itch just became more itchy and your scratches just became more weak. Maybe if you spend more time with him, you’ll remember?
It had been about 4 weeks, 4 weeks of saving your money, and every 4 weeks the boss collected his fair share of the cut. It wasn’t a pretty 4 weeks, it was probably the worst 4 weeks of your life. But... you and Draken would often exchange stories about your lives late at night which you enjoyed a lot. It always makes you feel better. But yet again you still couldn't figure him out. You felt as though you’ve met him before, and as though you two have had these kinds of talks before.
Draken only grew more and more helpless, seeing how you still haven’t remembered. He was slowly watching your life crumble. He felt so angry that you settled and believed you deserved to live like this, barely scraping by. He felt so awful, and saw how you grew so tired of it all. He just so badly wanted you to remember him, so that he could once again talk to you like he did before.
You had one last customer before closing, going through your usual routine, this n that, the man offered you a drink. You stupid obliged drinking it, hoping it would make your time more enjoyable but you were wrong, so very wrong, and so very stupid for drinking that stupid drink. You remember some parts, you did your job, then it all went black.. You woke up after hearing knocking on your door. You jumped out of bed, confused. You remember seeing the man leave as you started to fall asleep but that's about it. Usually you never fall asleep after the work because you never do much, your mind started to panic. But the door opened revealing Remi smiling.
“Hey sleepy! Boss says it’s your turn, come on, get your cash!” she said smiling
“Right let me just..it’s in my drawer..I don't know why I fell asleep so fast I think alcohol makes me sleepy.” you said getting out of bed and kneeling in front of your drawer to get the envelope of cash you had been saving.
“Heh, same here. I never accepted drinks from clients..they never had good intentions with that!” she said coming over and sitting at your bed
“..yeah.” you said starting to feel that panic arise in your body when seeing the envelope was...gone.
“What's wrong?” asked Remi noticing you were frozen
“I- the money..It’s gone..he took it..” you said with wide eyes feeling as though you were about to sob realizing you had just lost thousands of yen.
“Don’t say that..it..it probably just got misplaced! Come on, I'll help you look!” said Remi getting up
You couldn't even respond because of the amount of panic you were in. Your heart was racing and you felt tears fall from your eyes. After about 15 minutes of looking, you two found nothing. Absolutely nothing. You sat on the floor with your hand over your mouth, again, trying to keep a level head.
What now..?
You thought to yourself feeling hot tears stream from your face.
“Hey..guys? Boss is calling for you Y/n..what’s going on?” asked Rema walking in seeing you covering your face, crying
“She was robbed by the guy who just left, he put something in her drink to knock her out while he looked around and took the money...she doesn’t have the money.” said Remi
Rema’s mouth parted in shock and pity.
How could you mess up something so easy? All you had to do was keep your money safe. But you even failed at that.
“You have to tell him, Y/n.” said Rema rubbing your back
“Yea..yeah, could you two just give me a second? I’ll be right out.” you said smiling while wiping your face
“Sure.” they said frowning and walking out
You fisted your hands, and grabbed your covers before screaming into them to muffle your sounds..
Okay..it was a couple of thousand yen...not too bad right? I can promise the money by tomorrow..I’ll pick up some sort of street job...yeah! That’s good. Everything is fine..it’s fine.
You thought to yourself before wiping your face on more time and slapping both sides of your cheeks to wake you up.
You got up and walked to the bosses door feeling the eyes of people on your back. You knocked on the door before opening it slowly, refusing to make eye contact as you went to stand in front of the man with your arms behind your back.
“Alrighttt, let’s see here, in the last four weeks you had a total of 37 customers, so you should have around 300,000 yen, correct?” he asked looking at his paper
“Yes.” you said still looking down
“Alright, just hand it to me so I can count and divide it, you can sit.” he said smiling holding his hand out
“I..I don-” you said before being interrupted by a knock
“Come in.” he said
“Hey sorry dad, Y/n left her money with me while she went out. Thought I should bring it to her. Remember, Y/n?” said Draken walking in with an envelop in his hand smiling as he came to stand next to you, as you nodded your head ‘yes’
“Oh, thank you Ken.” he said smiling and taking the envelop
Your mouth parted as you gave a confused look, Draken only smiled and gave you a thumbs up while his dad counted the money. You felt so guilty and shocked, and all you could do was just stand there, like an idiot.
“Here you are...120,000 back..” he said, patting the money on the table to make it flat, putting it back into the envelope and handing it to you
You hesitantly brought your hand to grab it, glancing over at Draken who gave you small smile
“Thank you-” you said to him seeing Draken was already opening the door to leave
You quickly followed after him as he walked into his room. Before entering his room he turned around and looked down at you
You felt your eyes soften as you felt as though you were about to cry again, you tilted your head and neck down biting the inside of your cheek to keep in your cry.
“I promise I’ll pay all of it back by tomorrow, all 300,000.” you said
“Do you ever give yourself a break?” he asked as you brought your head up to look at him seeing he looked almost irritated
“You didn’t even ask why I did it, you just immediately jumped to feeling guilty. And you don’t need to pay me back. Really.” he said bringing his hand to close to the door, but you stopped him by grabbing his wrist making his breath hitch
“Why?” you asked looking into his eyes
“You still don’t remember? Even after all this time we’ve spent together?” he asked smiling as you took your hand off his wrist
“Remember...?” you asked furrowing your eyebrows in confusion, but then it suddenly hit you
“I swear it wasn’t me! I didn't steal!” yelled a little boy with blonde hair as two cops stood in front of him
You tilted your head and walked closer, but still keeping your distance to hear. It was a winter day and you were on your way to the corner store to buy some snacks, but you were met with an interesting scene. You kept your hands in your pockets as you listened over to the boy screaming and pleading his innocence
“I wouldn’t steal something so stupid! What would a kid like me need a lighter for!! I don’t know how it ended up in my pocket! Lay off!” he yelled as the officer dangled the lighter in front of his face
A lighter?
“Keep it down! We know how troubled you kids are here! Especially with those tattoos!” yelled back the cop as the boy grew angry and fisted his hands, ready to punch the cop
“Hey!!!” he heard a voice yelled
“Hey wait a minute!” you yelled waving your hand smiling as you ran to the scene
“Can we help you?” asked one of the cops in a soft tone
The blonde boy grew quiet, and you saw his hands loosen as he looked at your smiling face
“Yeah, why are you two yelling at my brother?” you asked furrowing your brows at the two grown man
“...Your so-called brother stole a lighter from the corner store right behind you, where are your parents? We would like to have a word with them.” he said standing up straight
“Yeah, and talk about how they let their son tattoo himself already..” said one under his breath making the other laugh
You looked over at the boy growing angry, you gave him a smile..making him calm down.
“He said it was just an accident, I asked him to pick up a lighter from the store so that we could light a candle at our father’s grave! See!” you said digging into your bag to pull out a candle
“He probably felt pressured because I asked him to get it, so if you’re gonna get mad at someone, get mad at me!” you said as you started to fake cry
“It’s our father's death anniversary, and you're yelling at kids for making a mistake.” you faked cried
“Yeah!!” yelled the boy making you smile under your hands as the two officers became anxious, feeling bad for what they had just done.
“..we’re sorry. Please let us apologize.” they said slightly bowing at you two
“I don’t think we can accept it...you two also made fun of the dragon tattoo on his head!...dragons were our dads favorite animal. He risked his life fighting for Japan and you two are laughing at him! Is that how your mother taught you how to behave?” you asked pretending to wipe you tears as the blonde boy watched you in awe seeing you toy with grown men
“Please let us treat you both to whatever you’d like from the corner store as an apology!” they both said bowing lower making you smile and look back at the boy. You gave him a thumbs up as a smile grew on his face
“Fine..come on then?” you said as both the officers raised their heads, opening the doors of the corner store for you both
You and the blonde boy walked around the store, filling your baskets with all types of things. The blonde boy watched you in just pure awe as you walked around picking your favorite snacks, as he did the same, glancing at you every now and then.
“Here.” you said smiling at the cops
“Right!” they said frantically taking out their wallets as the boy placed down his stuff nervously, still watching you
“Oh and-” you said reaching your hand to grab the lighter from the officer and placing it into the bunch of snacks
You smiled, your hands were behind your back as you watched the officers pay for yours and the boys' food, placing them into bags for you guys too. You grabbed the lighter and your bag, as the boy did the same
“Mom told us to meet her at the cemetery steps, remember?” you said looking into the boys eyes
“..yeah, I remember.” he said smiling feeling his face become hot
“Let’s go then.” you said smiling and taking his hand as you two ran out of the store
After a bit you two stopped and sat on the curbside while you both chose a snack to eat.
“Here’s your lighter, you don’t have to stay with me by the way.” you said handing him the steel lighter
“..Thanks” he said
“Sure- what do you need it for anyway?” you asked smiling
“My boss asked for it.” he said putting it in his pocket
“Oh, are you in some type of delinquent group?” you asked looking at him
“Yeah..” he said smiling
“That's cool, what do you guys do?” you asked taking a sip of your drink
“We kinda just...like...do stupid stuff and fight..” he said
“Sounds fun, but...stupid.” you said laughing making him scoff
“Why’d you do it?” he asked
“Do what?” you asked back turning you gaze to him
“Come in to cover me. You could’ve gotten in a lot of trouble because of me.” he said with a frustrated face
“You’re right, I just wanted to, that's all.” you said smiling making his mouth part and cheeks redden
“You seem pretty fun too so I thought we could be friends or something..” you said nervously
“Yeah! Sure- We can be friends!” he said happily making you feel flustered
“Well then, it’s nice to meet you, my name is Y/n, yours?” you asked holding over your hand
“Ken, but you can call me Draken-” he said taking ahold of your hand gently as you gave him a closed eyed smile blushing
“where the hell did you find that candle and com up with that whole sob story Y/n?”
“Dunno, I saw the candle on the ground by a newspaper, I kinda just winged it- “
After that day you remember hanging out with Draken almost every other day. You remember him telling you how he and his close friends started their own gang and needed some sort of funding, and so you gave it to him, on his birthday.
“I saved up! You said that you and your friends needed some money to start off so that you guys could buy a flag or banner? Right? Well, here’s 30,000 yen for your birthday!” you said handing him an envelope and a small balloon.
“Are-are you serious right now Y/n?” he asked taking the gifts, opening the envelope to look inside to see the money as his eyes lit up
“Yeah, I babysit more kids now so I was able to put some aside for you.” you said smiling satisfied with his reaction
He didn’t even say anything, all he did was bring his arms around you upper body, hugging you tight making you laugh as you brought yours to hug him back
“Thank you- you’re the best! The guys will be so happy!” he said smiling while grasping your wrists in excitement. Your eyes traced over his face as they soften. You smiled.
“Likewise.”
And- after that, you remember the day you 2 separated as friends. You both sat on the curbside, you remembered you called him to come and see you. It was a winter night and the sun was going down.
“I uh..well I don’t really know how to say this without sounding cliche but-”
“What? Are you gonna confess that you’re madly in love with me or something?” he asked grinning, making you sweat drop
“Jeez be quiet...I’m trying to make this a memorable moment-” you signed smiling, placing your palms on the cold cement
“Alright let’s hear it then Y/n-!” he said bringing his hands to the back of his head as he laid down looking up at the stars
You only frowned slightly, you shifted your position so that you could sit beside him and have a good look at his face.
“You’re scaring me..” he said jokingly making you smile
“It was really fun the past year.” you said smiling as Draken shot his head up to look at you face to face
“The hell are you talking like that for?” he asked furrowing his brows
“My parents can’t afford living in any districts in Tokyo anymore, so we’re moving to another city… about 4 hours train ride from Tokyo so-” you said looking down at your hands on the floor
“So? You act like I won't be able to come and see you or you come and see me..” he said ducking his head a bit so that you could look at him
“Draken, train tickets are about 220 yen per person, I can't afford it, and if you came by to see me I'd feel guilty because you’d be wasting your money just to only see me for like an hour.” you said
“How can I be wasting my money on you? It’s not wasting if I wanna do it and see you, plus what makes you think it'll only be a couple hours?” he asked
“I’ll have to start working once we get there, so I wouldn’t have anytime...I wanna start saving so that one day I can come back to Tokyo and live here, so that I can see your dream come true of helping your friend create a ‘new era of delinquents’ you know? I’ll even help you guys if you want with financial stuff or something.” you said smiling at him
Draken bit the inside of his cheek. He wanted to tell you so bad how he felt but..
“Look, I have a feeling I know what you’re gonna say..just remember what you wanted to say and tell me later, okay?” you said placing your hand on top of his causing his eyes to widen
“...You’ll remember me, right?” he asked looking into your eyes deeply making your mouth part
“Yeah, I’ll remember you as long as you remember what you wanted to tell me. Cause I feel the same” you said smiling as a tear fell from your eyes
“good...I will.” he said smiling back and tilting his head and wiping it off your face
After the memories hit you, you stood there with wide eyes and tears, with your wrist covering your quivering mouth. You had completely suppressed your memories of Draken, and your feelings because you knew you wouldn't be able handle being apart from him for so long. And he did the same. You couldn’t imagine how unbearable it was for him to be waiting up like this. You looked up at him seeing his eyes were softly looking at you. You could do nothing but bring your arms around him hugging him, as he brought his arms around you to do the same. You were still such in shock.
“I never thought you’d end up in a place like this, living a life like this.” he said against your ear
“I don’t wanna see you like this, please let me take care of you like you did for me..” he said said tightening his grip slightly
You could only cry at his words, you didn’t even wanna try to speak because you knew it would only come out as a sob. Was it really alright for you to rely on someone so much?
He pulled back from the hug and looked at your face, seeing you were still crying as you nodded your head ‘yes’, he smiled and wiped them away with his thumb. The smile on his face...he looked so satisfied...and happy...happy that you finally remembered. Finally remembered him.

ransom’s seen pretty much everything.
travelled around the world, eaten the finest delicacies, snapped away for five years into non-existence all because of a purple, ball-sack face alien.
or so he thought.
because sitting here cuffed to a chair infront of you barely conscious, he begs to differ.
how did the night get so fucked so fast?
“hey.” he extends his leg, trying to nudge yours desperately.
you were a sight to behold with your hair undone, dark locks tousled around your delicate neck.
but ransom can’t afford to marvel at you, in fact the first thing he needs to do is get the fuck away from you.
because the way you’d jammed that glass cup up that bartender’s throat without a second thought, you were no ordinary woman.
“psst, hey.” He tries again, eyes skimming over the room.
they probably were holding them both for ransom.
hell would freeze over before he gave any of his money to those fuckers who chained him up like a dog.
you stir around slightly as you slowly open your heavy eyes. a groan slips out when you try to adjust yourself, only tightening the hold on your hands.
“good, you’re up.”
you lift your head to see a bloodied ransom across you.
slumping back into your seat, your body cries out in pain at the slightest movements.
as soon as you’d tasted the martini, you knew it was an ambush, thankfully spitting most of it out.
but it was too late, the drug almost instantaneously taking action, making you groggy.
the last thing you vaguely remember is dragging ransom out only to be whacked out cold, seeing stars.
“what’s going on? hey, are you going back to sleep?”he asks, straining his leg out to nudge yours again.
“you just don’t shut up, do you?” you croak out, barely above a whisper.
“i’m being held hostage in this room,” his nose scrunches up, “so, I’m sorry if I’m just a little curious as to what the fuck is going on.”
he looks almost pitiful, dried blood on his forehead and desperation in his eyes.
reminds you of steve after missions when he would limp around, all bruised up.
your eyes flicker over to the one camera pointed right at you, but the way it was angled you knew your hands weren’t in view.
“do you know about the avengers?” you work on dislocating your wrist to free your hands chained behind you.
not exactly your favourite thing but it worked everytime.
he rolls his eyes and quirks an eyebrow.
“you think I don’t know the avengers? the whole ‘saviours of the world but we choose to remain anonymous’ crap?”
“well, you’re looking at one right now.” you give an umamused smile, slightly flinching at the wrench that causes a tear in your ligaments.
he probably wouldn’t have believed you if he hadn’t witness you take down six people with such ease just a few hours? ago.
“anyways long story short, you look just like captain america and for some reason hydra just can’t seem to get over that face of yours.”
he lets out a genuine laugh which only seems to intensify the throbbing pain in his head.
you were a whole other kind of crazy.
“steve rogers? no one’s even seen his face under that dumb cowl of his.” he snorts, noticing the slight shift in your face at the mention of steve.
“andy barber. jake jensen. colin shea. ever heard of them?”
another tear.
he shakes his head, his irritation only growing by the very second.
“a few months ago, each one of them started disappearing one after the other. the only thing they had in common was their faces. they looked exactly like you, like him.”
you clench your jaw as you position your wrist for the final twist.
the last one always hurt like a bitch.
“you’re crazy.” he huffs, in disbelief.
he knew he shouldn’t have gone to that stupid event, not let his mother get in his head like always.
he could be at home right now, in his lavish three bedroom villa overlooking the sylvan surroundings.
but here he was, tied up in a filthy room with an avenger.
you might have to agree with him on the crazy part because you’re regretting the whole dislocating thing when the last twist pulls through, pain nearly blinding you.
he can only watch in horror as he realises what you’re doing.
“no, like you’re actually insane.” he breathes out in disbelief as your hands slip out of the chain.
the door swings open, guns pointed right at you.
a particular face in the middle catches your eye as you recognise him.
“you know you’re not getting out of here that easy, right?” zemo chuckles, “broke those pretty bones for nothing.”
“you get blipped for five years and this is the first thing you do? somebody needs to get a life.” you slowly get up, hands raised (you think?)
you couldn’t really feel them anymore.
“sit back down.” he orders, gun pointed right at your head.
he yells at you to sit down again but the gun’s pointed at ransom now.
“holy fuck, dude, don’t point that shit at me. this is how 99% of the people in movies die.” ransom pleads, his eyes closed.
“he’s not steve, you know that. so, why are you doing this? I mean I know why I’m doing this.” you hesitantly sit back down, your ears pleased for once to hear the familiar whirring.
just a few more seconds. that’s all you needed.
he cocks his head, “doing what?”
“buying time.”
ransom’s seen enough action movies to know the probability of him accidentally being shot by any of the rain of bullets whizzing past you two right now is high.
too high for his liking.
he thinks he saw a red flying thing knock out zemo? before you pushed him down so hard the chair broke.
“jesus christ, are you trying to kill me?” He yells, his back throbbing in pain.
and all of a sudden, it’s quiet,a persistent ringing taking over his ears.
he opens his eyes to see you hovering over his face.
it’s weird, your lips seem to be moving but he can’t hear you.
and it’s all black.
“i just want you to know that what you did back there, that was stupid.” sam glares at you, in the rearview mirror.
“and dumb.” bucky chimes in.
you roll your eyes.
it was going to be a long ride to the safehouse.
the car bumps and ransom bounces around, his head hitting the top.
“jesus, hold him or something.” bucky turns around, looking at ransom’s unconscious body sprawled on the seat.
you scoot over closer to ransom, your hand guiding his head to your lap.
bucky turns back around, a grin creeping up to his face which you just want to punch off.
you look down at the bloody mess on Ransom’s forehead, fingers slightly grazing over it.
it was done with a blunt object, most likely the back of a gun.
you can’t stop staring at his face, the same lump forming in your throat again.
so you force yourself to look away, focus on the trees zooming past until sam stops the car infront of a small house, “we’re here.”
bucky hands you a bag of essentials, waving at you to go in, “we got him.”
the house is actually better than most safe houses you’re used to.
it has electricity and hot water and that’s already made it a top contender.
you head straight for the shower, stripping down to nothing while turning on the water.
you hiss in pain at the contact of water on your aching skin.
the water’s scorching hot but it’s the only way you feel clean.
you scrub off the grime and dirt like always, desperately washing away the dried blood under your fingernails.
a trail of reddish brown water as you wash your hair, nails scratching every surface of your scalp.
quickly changing into a set of clean clothes, you pull out a box of needles.
you’re sloppy with your stitches, maybe cause you’d gotten used to him doing it for you.
throwing your wet hair into a towel, you debate whether to clean his wound up or not.
but your hand is already reaching for the bag of first aid sprawled all over the sink.
“it’s just a nice thing to do.” you mumble, making your way to the living room.
sam’s passed out on the couch adjacent to ransom and you’re pretty sure bucky went out to get some food.
they’ve changed his clothes for him but the ugly bruise on his forehead only seems to be swelling up.
you sit down on the floor, rummaging through the box, pulling out cotton and antiseptic.
“am I dead?” he croaks out, slightly shifting.
you chuckle, looking back at him.
a few dabs of the brown liquid on the cotton.
“this is gonna sting.” You warn him before gently wiping the angry bruise.
he flinches, groaning in pain.
“where am I?”
“safe.”
“yea, that’s really comforting.” he looks up at you in annoyance.
you exchange to a new waft of cotton, still cleaning up the dried up blood.
it’s strange, how weird yet nice your gentle touches feel.
the way your lips slightly part and eyebrows knit together as you concentrate.
ransom never really had someone take care of him like this.
“wher’s Steve?” he asks the lingering question on his mind.
there’d been many conspiracy theories online, each one crazier than the other.
he again notices the slight clench of the jaw, the shift in your position at the mention of his name.
“gone.” you reply stoically, placing the gauze over the swelling wound.
a shit reply but he can’t bring himself to pry further.
you look down at his face, the familiarity of this catching you offguard.
after every mission, he’d force you to sit down and tend to your every wound, every scratch.
can’t have my girl walking around, all bruised up like that.
and you’d force him to sit down and do the same.
it was always so personal, standing between his legs, his hands around your waist while yours worked around.
“hey, you okay?” ransom lifts his head, regretting it instantly as pain shoots up his entire body.
you blink away the tears threatening to spill any second.
“yeah, I’m good. Get some rest.”
you fumble around, hurriedly picking up the first aid kit, your shaky hands doing little to help you.
you were clearly distraught and ransom had a sneaking suspicion why.

Masterlist
Pairing: Five Hargreeves x Reincarnation!Reader
Words: 2755 words
Warnings: TUA season 1 and 2 spoilers, violence, blood, mention of torture, swearing, angst.
Requested by: @asphodelshare
Hi! I read your Five fics and I like your style of writing! If it’s not too much to ask, could you write one where Five had to leave the reader back in the 2019 Apocalypse bc he didn’t have a choice. He then sees her 1963 counterpart, she doesn’t know him and he tries to stop himself from reconnecting w/ her but he can’t help himself. It’s up to you if it’ll end on a happy note or an angsty one! Xx
A/N: The Eternals are my personal touch, so I guess this should be considered an AU of some sort. I'm sure this wasn't what you thought would happen, I'll be frank, it wasn't what I thought either 😂 The end just wrote itself! And it wasn't what I had planned. Ouups.
Tumblr media
He tried. Really, he tried. Ever since the first time he saw you walking in the street wearing a school uniform, a school bag hanging loosely on your shoulder and a lunchbox in hand, Five had had a hard time resisting his need to run to you and hug your form with all his might. Granted, Five had no proof that the girl walking away from him was this time-line version of you, she could simply be a perfect replica of your 15 years old self with the same habit of drawing on her school furniture, the same bright smile and the same bewitching laugh. Yes, she was just a replica. A too perfect replica.
Five forced his legs to take him away from her walking form and tried to push the girl at the back of his mind. He had to concentrate on his task to stop the new apocalypse and return back in 2019 where he left you.
It never was in the plan to let you die under the meteor shower that ravaged the Earth, if anything you were at the top of his list of people he had to save. Unfortunately Five came to the conclusion that the past was a place way too dangerous for you to venture, add this to the Commission who would surely double down their effort to kill the Hargreeves and whoever helped them, your chances of dying in the past were way too high for his liking. The boy would never be able to live with himself if you were to die permanently in the past and not for only a few days in 2019.
For a whole day, Five managed to forget about the girl and his feelings altogether. Alongside Diego, he broke into their father's company building and discovered some precious information. The part of the night involving the younger Pogo let him a bitter taste in his mouth but it didn't stop him in the slightest. Back at Morty's, Five was almost surprised to find his brother still breathing on the couch, his new partner in crime cauterizing his bullet-wound.
"Did you cut yourself shaving? I can teach you to shave like a big boy." Sighing the boy put a gaze to the bleeding scratches burning his neck. All he could hope now was that Pogo didn't give him Herpes B.
"No, I just ran into an old family friend." Five turned around towards the kitchen in hope of finding a perfectly brewed coffee pot. He groaned in disappointment when he noticed that not only was the coffee pot empty, but Elliott wasn't tied in the chair anymore.
"You untied him?" Five shot Lila a brief glance before returning his attention to his surroundings, listening attentively to any sound allowing him to pin-point the man's location.
"No. Was I supposed to?"
Ignoring her question, Five made his way to the rooms down the hallway. He never ventured there before, he assumed that the three doors lead to a bedroom and some storage rooms filled with conspiracy theories just like the living room. Turns out he was partially right.
Elliott's bedroom was empty, the bed still undone. The next door opened on a black room with pictures hanging on the walls and dyeing material placed neatly.
From behind the last door, Five could hear two distinct muffled voices. He recognized the first one as Elliott's but the second one made him frown in concentration. It sounded familiar even though he never really talked to anyone from this time-line other than Lila and Elliott.
Confused, Five opened the door, not prepared at all to see you standing in front of a seated Elliott, the two of you arguing in hushed voices. The cracking door alerted you, your angry gaze instantly found him, standing in your doorway with his mouth slightly opened in shock like an idiot.
Five gulped as you made your way to him, there was no way that she wasn't you. Not only did she look exactly like you, but her pissed-off expression was the same as the you he knew. Your fists were tight at your sides, no doubt giving you the courage to not back down before him, your furrowed brows created little wrinkles that Five desperately wanted to ease away by a light stroke of his fingers and your eyes. Oh your eyes. How he had missed their spark.
“Who are you?” You harshly asked while poking his chest with your delicate finger.
Five had a hard time keeping his arms to his sides, preventing them from pulling you into a tight hug that you were sure to hate. Instead, he breathed in deeply in an attempt to calm his frantic heart. “E- What are you doing here?” He mentally cursed the slight waver in his voice, then again, you tended to have that effect on him.
“I live here. Why are you here?”
He was at a loss of words and couldn't help but stare at you in disbelief. You lived here?
“Oh. Yeah. Sorry.” Elliott stood up, his anxiety showing in the form of a hand scratching the back of his neck. “This is my daughter Y/N. Y/N this is- this is- eh. He’s one of them.”
You even had the same name! It finally clicked into Five's head. He had heard of the rare phenomenon back in his days at the Commission, someone extremely important to the balance of the time-line would reincarnate after each one of their deaths to keep the time-line on track. Those very few, only eight in the whole world, were constantly chased by the Commission who in the beginning tried to discover the secret of their perpetual rebirths but then changed their goal to killing them as soon as they could when they discovered that the reincarnations could remember their past and future lives. Five had always thought that the Eternals, as the Commission called them, were just a story created by bored time analysts to kill time.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts, a small smile slipped out of his control at the perspective that this was really you right in front of him, his best friend, his confidant, his partner in crime and the object of his affection.
“The name’s Five.” So far you didn’t seem to remember him. Maybe you were too young or it was too soon. He had no idea how your condition worked.
"I don't care, asswad. You and your friends tied my father to a chair-" Five's heart stopped at the insult modern you used to call him all the time when his shitty attitude managed to get on your nerves. As much as he hated the nickname, he couldn’t help the rush of excitement he felt when he heard it. You may be starting to remember your future even if you were unaware of it.
"He tried to shoot us." Five deadpanned quickly remembering why they tied the man in the first place.
"You are in our house!"
"He invited us in." Okay, this one was a lie. Five had space-jumped in first, but then Elliott hadn't kicked him out so he would consider it as an invitation to stay.
"Dad!" You turned to the embarrassed grown-up, disbelief written all over your face.
Five decided to let them argue alone and go control his ever growing feelings somewhere else, preferably somewhere you were not. Walking back to the kitchen to finally make himself some coffee, Five thought about how he could help you remember who you were- no, will be.
“What’s the beeping?” Lila’s voice broke through his reasoning, catching his attention when she poked the computer screen.
Five made his way toward the machine, a grin stretching his lips. “Vanya.” In a second he jumped away, carrying on with his plan to gather his siblings.
It was only two days later that he saw you next. You were eating your breakfast while quickly scribbling on a poor paper sheet, your foot bouncing rapidly on the floor as the seconds passed. Five was watching you over his warm cup of coffee, swiftly averting his gaze whenever you would lift yours. An elbow hit his shoulder, almost causing him to lose his balance and fall on the floor, wasting his precious black liquid.
“What?” Five snapped at Luther after making sure his drink didn’t spill over his hand.
“Why is Y/N here?” His whispering was not subtle at all although luckily for the blue-eyed boy, the sizzling eggs covered the excessive sound.
Five went to his brother’s side, turning his back to you in the meantime. “She’s not the same Y/N. Well, she is but-” He groaned at the complexity of the situation. His brother would definitely not understand, so he went with the easy way out. “Long story short, this is her past life. Now stop talking abou-”
“Oh, hey even your little girlfriend made it here.” Diego joined the conversation without a care in the world. He grabbed a plate along with some toast before dropping them at Five’s outburst.
“She’s not my girlfriend!” He could feel his body heating up despite his best efforts.
All three of them tensed for their own reasons yet they all not so subtly turned their heads in your direction. If looks could kill, they would definitely be at the verge of death.
“I’m not his girlfriend.” Five just received his killing blow.
You hurriedly grabbed your bag under the table and rushed out of the room, paper in hand. The silence following your exit permitted your last words to bounce in his head, hurting his feelings like nothing before. If he could gauge the pain he felt at this right moment on a scale of 1 to 10, he would say that without a doubt this was a 10.
What you said was the plain truth. In any lives of yours did you and him became a thing. It didn’t stop the fact that after all these years suppressing his romantic attraction toward you, Five had nurtured the hope that maybe one day, you two could be more than friends. Today this hope just blew up in his face, mauling his heart in the process.
So in the blink of an eye, the boy disappeared from the kitchen to live his pain alone, away from prying eyes and the pity of his brothers.
Later that same day, Five was nursing his seventh cup of steaming coffee of the day when someone sat next to his own spot on the second floor, legs dangling in the air where the floor stopped to show the once TV shop. He sipped on his coffee as an attempt to show them that he wasn’t interested in the slightest in what they had to say, needless to say that it didn’t work. He should be used by now, it never worked.
“I’m impressed that you didn’t die from a heart attack or something. Your blood pressure should be pretty high with all the coffee that you drink in a day.” He nearly choked on his sip when your soft voice reached his ears.
He turned to you, baffled to see you smirking at him. Not angry. Not annoyed. Playful. "You know, if you weren't from the future and weren’t endangering my father by your mere presence here, I would have loved to be your friend."
Just when Five thought that he couldn’t be surprised anymore! "How do yo-?"
"Klaus doesn't stop talking about how he misses youtube." The boy sighed, clearly his brother couldn’t keep his mouth shut. He wondered if sewing his mouth shut would suffice to shut him up for good. Knowing Klaus, he would definitely find a way to express himself without his mouth. “Also I remember you, asswad.” You bumped his shoulder with yours before crossing your arms on the railing before you and resting your head on them.
His eyes went wide, the meaning of your words slowly registering into his brain. He turned to you, trying in vain to not get his hopes up about your remembrance. A very genuine smile stretched your lips, making Five almost drop his mug on the floor below. He then realized that if you could remember your future life, then you surely remembered your future death and with it, how Five abandoned you to your demise. Guilt pulled at his heart at imagining what you went through because of him and fear darkened his heart at the thought that not only your past self would hate him but your modern self too.
Something on his cheek caught his attention, the delicate stroke of your fingers awoke a fire under his skin when he noticed your gesture and the concerned frown disturbing your perfect features. This time around he couldn’t stop himself and reached forward, smoothing the creased skin with a light brush of his fingertips.
“I’m sorry.” His hand dropped in defeat at his side, his gaze fleeing yours.
“What for?” You asked, genuinely confused.
“I abandoned you to die.” His voice was so small, saying it aloud made him doubt his choice. He closed his eyes tightly to keep the tears away, his remorses started eating him alive.
You moved closer and took the mug out of his hand when it was within your reach. You disposed of it before wrapping your arms around his waist and put your chin on his shoulder. He didn’t open his eyes, instead closing them tighter to the point that he started to see stars dance behind his eyelids.
“You.” You blowed on the side of his face. Once. Twice. “Hey you. Open your eyes.” You sighed when he merely relaxed his facial muscles but kept his eyes shut. “I understand you know? You had to. I’m not mad.”
You proceeded to poke his cheek when the absence of reaction on his part was starting to get on your nerves. “I’m talking to you, asswad!”
You gasped when Five suddenly turned his head to the side and connected his lips to yours with force. His hands found the side of your face to keep you close when his lips moved with yours in a desperate motion, as if you would vanish at any seconds. At one point, the kiss stopped tasting coffee, a salty taste replacing the strong addicting aroma.
Slowly Five pulled away to discover tears running down your cheeks. His first reaction was to close his hands into fists wanting to jump away and remove his damned heart from his chest with his bare hands. As the blue waves flowed around his fists, your lips stretched in a smile stealing his breath.
"Took you long enough." Your almost imperceptible whisper was so loud in his ears.
A smile mirroring your own formed on his face, he was beyond the moon all the while asking himself how he could have been so stupidly blind to your feelings.
"We got there, that's what's important." You hummed in agreement before repositioning your head on his shoulder and contemplating what next.
A few days passed and Five along with his siblings met their father. Needless to say that it went down pretty quickly. For some odd reason, Five found himself thinking that it could have been worse. Someone could have died. Or hurt. Everyone was in one piece if we didn't count Diego's soul.
Space-jumping back at Morty's, Five thought that he was horribly wrong. Elliott's body laid in a chair obviously having been tortured before being executed. As much as the boy wanted to feel bad for the man who played such a great role helping him reach his goal, every thought that passed through his mind was directed at you.
Five yelled your name before jumping from room to room before he noticed a crimson red trail leading to the black room.
His shaking hand grabbed the handle of the slightly opened door, pushing it with a shaky breath escaping his lungs.
If it wasn't of your school uniform you were wearing, Five couldn't have said for sure that this broken body was yours. The obvious torture you went through got him on his knees, water pooling from his eyes like two rivers.
He was wrong. So dearly wrong. This, right now, was the worst pain he ever felt. He didn't even have to open his chest to relieve himself of his excruciating pain for his heart had completely stopped at the agony scaled to 11.

Tumblr media
"Stupid cheesecake recipe."
"Over baking wasn't exactly on the recipe, J."
"Oh, shut up. Yours is dry as fuck."
Y/n opened her mouth, pretending to be offended. The pair was currently having a little baking competition that clearly went wrong since none of them can bake. Now, Y/n was pretty good at cooking in general, but for some reason baking just wasn't her thing. And obviously, it wasn't Jensen's thing either.
"I hope you clean this mess after you're done." The truth was, Louise wasn't surprised by the mess her children had made and didn't mind it either. The age difference between both of them was big, so growing up there wasn't much they could do to bond. Right now, however, they were so much closer than they were before, and Jensen and Y/n had more things in common and more options of activities they could do together, like baking.
Even if they were bad at it.
"I invited Harry and Sarah tonight. They're having dinner with us." Louise spoke again, grabbing a rag and starting to wipe off the flour on the kitchen island.
"Who's Sarah?" Y/n asked, cleaning the flour on her left cheek. She tried to ignore the growing butterflies in her stomach at the mention of Harry. She'd be lying if she said she hasn't thought about him since their last encounter, even went as far as trying to look for him on the internet but she got nothing. But the mention of another woman made her feel confused. Was he married or something? Don't blame her, the guy wears a lot of rings.
"The owner of that cat café I took you to the other day. She's great, don't worry."
Jensen nudged her playfully, and she rolled her eyes in return. "I'll take a shower." She announced before marching out of the kitchen and up the stairs to her old room. She wanted to clean herself up before Harry arrived, although she didn't know why. Looking through the clothes she kept at her mother's house, she settled in a plain, long blue dress with spaghetti straps and a pair of sandals. She didn't want to look overdressed but also didn't want to just wear a pair of sweatpants like she's been wearing all afternoon.
"Do you remember when mom tried to set me up with that girl who worked at the restaurant on the other side of town?" Jensen entered the room without knocking, running his fingers through his hair. He was also fresh out of the shower.
"Madison?" Jensen hummed in response. "She was nice. Why did you stop going out with her?"
"Because mom only did it because she thought I was lonely.?"
"What's your point?" She looked at him after grabbing a hairbrush from the vanity.
"That she's doing the same now with Harry? Duh."
"Woah, I've met the man once. And I've tried going out with people she sets me up with, and we never click."
//
Y/n tried to play it cool when she heard the gates open, busying herself with whatever as the doorbell rang and Louise hurried towards the door. Harry and a gorgeous brunette stepped into the house, smiling widely at the middle-aged woman.
"Come on in! I'm so glad you could make it."
"You have a lovely home, Louise." Harry's deep voice along with that accent of his sent shivers down Y/n's spine. She had a weak spot for British people and she didn't know why.
"I'm sorry Mitch couldn't make it." The woman beside Harry said.
"Oh, it's okay. There's always next time."
The three of them walked into the living room where everyone else was sitting. Jensen stood up and high-fived Harry before giving Sarah a side hug. A smirk appeared on Harry's face as Y/n came into his view. "Hello again, love."
"Hi, Harry." Y/n returned his little salute. "Azaleas are doing great, by the way." She jokingly said.
"Knew you would keep them alive." He gave her a little wink before giving her a quick hug.
Sarah introduced herself and Y/n did the same, accepting her hand to shake. Y/n had to admit, she was really pretty. Along with her brown hair, she had a pair of blue eyes and an inviting smile. If Harry was really dating Sarah, then he was a lucky man.
Throughout the dinner, Y/n didn't say much. She'd occasionally steal little glazes at Harry and admired how gorgeous he looked tonight. It was funny, Y/n had this feeling in her tummy every time she's seen him, which by the way has only been twice, and she grew nervous out of nowhere. It was almost like she was too shy to speak to him, which was weird considering she was a pro at holding conversations as she's been trained to do so. Sometimes she'd stare for too long and Harry would notice and smile her way. Y/n felt like a teenager with a highschool crush. She tried to convince herself she didn't like him that way and she was just taken back at how pretty he was.
Dinner was over and Harry insisted on helping with the dishes despite Louise's protests. So now it was just Y/n and Harry in the kitchen putting everything in the dishwasher while sipping on white wine.
"How can you put ice on it?" Harry asked, nodding at her glass filled with wine and ice. "When the ice melts it just tastes like water."
"I like it really cold but I don't like keeping the bottles in the freezer." She explained, taking a sip from her glass. "So how do you know Sarah?"
"She was the first friend I made when I came here. She's also British so we became fast friends. Plus, he's dating my best friend and co-worker."
"Oh." She said, processing the information. Perhaps that Mitch guy Sarah mentioned was her boyfriend and not Harry. Suddenly, she felt a wave of relief but then again, why?
"Can I say something without sounding creepy?"
"S-sure?"
"My sister is a massive fan of yours. When we still lived with my mum, you were all she listened to."
"I'm sorry." She joked and he breathed a laugh. "Well, tell her I say hi, please."
"Will do."
"So..." She dragged the word. "You knew who I was?"
"Obviously I don't live under a rock." He rolled his eyes playfully. "I'm just not invested in that whole world as other people, you know? I don't even own an Instagram account or anything." Harry shrugged.
So that's why she couldn't find him anywhere, she thought. A feeling of excitement ran through her veins. Harry knew who she was, but he didn't care. Being treated like a normal person was a luxury Y/n didn't have anymore, so it was safe to say she felt happy knowing he'd treat her like one.
They finished the task in silence, but Y/n couldn't contain the little smile forming on her face and honestly, Harry couldn't either.
She was curious about him. What was he doing in her hometown if he was from the other side of the world? What did he do in his free time? Where did he get so many cool rings? Did he always want to be a florist? Why was he a florist? She had a million questions she wanted to ask, feeling genuinely intrigued by him. Harry could easily come off as an intimidating man, but what she has noticed from him was completely different.
Harry was shy, incredibly so. But he was also cheeky, and silly and had a boyish smile that he could change into an intense look in a matter of seconds if he wanted to. His green eyes were always shiny, like stars in a black sky. He also appeared to be always happy, although she couldn't be certain on that one.
The things she was feeling right now were things she's never experienced before and that was both exciting and terrifying.
//
"I never trust a narcissist." Y/n tasted the new lyrics she's been thinking about with a random melody on the piano. She sat in front of the instrument in her living room and this time she didn't have to squeeze her brain for one decent melody, because this time she was able to come up with one smoothly.
Pandora was casually laying down on the floor close to Y/n while Lizzie was chilling around the house as she didn't like the sound of the piano that much. This was one of those nights when inspiration came to Y/n from nowhere, having to drag herself out of the comfiness of her bed before she forgot what her brain had come up with. She continued adding lyrics, making sure her phone was still recording everything she was doing.
It had been a few days since she's seen her family or had any kind of human interaction and now that she was thinking about it, she kind of missed it. Now, she loved her family to pieces and would do absolutely anything for them but she missed her friends, her real friends who were thousands of miles away from her right now. She was craving that more than anything right now and that's probably why she found herself in front of The Blossom House the morning after, debating whether or not entering the shop.
Deciding to suck it up, she opened the door of the building and stepped in, feeling the overwhelming smell of flowers hit her nostrils immediately. There were a few people in the shop, a young boy buying a bouquet of red roses and two middle-aged women that looked like they came together. Y/n tried to go unnoticed as she stepped deeper into the store. The truth was, she didn't know what she was doing there. She didn't need more flowers, that's for sure.
She looked through her sunglasses a bouquet of daisies her mother would absolutely die for, so she decided to grab it for her.
"Oop, sorry. That one's not done yet." Someone said from behind. She turned around and saw a man with long hair tied in a low bun and a mustache on his face. "It's a commission, actually. But I can make another one for you."
"Oh, it's fine. I'll just pick something else." She gave him a polite smile. The name on the tag read Mitch, so he must be Sarah's boyfriend. "Uh... weird question but, is Harry around?"
"Yeah, he's in the back. Want me to get him for you?" He offered but she declined.
"It's okay. Thank you." Giving him one last smile she walked away to the other side of the room, this time looking at the roses. The white ones were her favorites and she loved looking at them.
"Hey, stranger."  Taking advantage of the fact he couldn't see her, she smiled widely at the sound of his voice. "Fancy seeing you here." As soon as she turned around she saw the goofy dimpled smile on his face.
"Likewise, do you work here by any means?" She smirked as he giggled, deciding to play along.
"Darling, I own the place."
"An entrepreneur, oh my god." She pretended to fan herself with the palm of her hand and Harry let out a big laugh.
"What brings you here? More flowers?" Something tells her he knew she wasn't here for the flowers, and it was true, as much as she wanted to tell herself she wanted a new bouquet for her mom. In reality, she wanted to see him. "Has something caught your eye so far?"
"There was this bouquet of daisies but a man told me it was for a commission?" Her words came off more like a question.
"Oh, yes. Mitch's been working on that for a few hours now. I can tell him to make you one like that if you want. Could be done in a couple of hours."
"That would be great. I could swing by in a while to get it."
"Orrrrr, we could wait for it over a cup of coffee?"
She observed him for a while and how the dimples never disappeared from his face as he waited for her answer. He seemed confident and she really liked that. "Sounds fun." She shrugged before a smile appeared on her face, matching his.
"Let me tell Mitch and we'll go." He said before rushing to the back of the store and returning shortly after without his apron. "Would you prefer to go to Sarah's? Because there's this one, half block away that serves good coffee."
"Let's try that one." Honestly, she'd walk whatever blocks if that meant they'd spend more time together. "As much as I loved going to Sarah's, seeing all those kittens at once makes me cry."
"I feel the same. I always take my mum there when she comes to visit, last time she came she adopted one." He mentioned. A car passed at low speed, making Y/n nervous. She tried to cover her face as much as she could with her hair and fixing her sunglasses. "Is everything okay?" Harry asked, noticing her change of behavior.
"Uh? Oh, yes. I thought someone was watching from that car." She said in a low voice. What happened next, she would've never expected. Harry pushed her gently to the other side of the sidewalk, changing places with her so his much taller frame would cover hers.
She blushed, looking up at him but he acted like it wasn't a big deal, like it was a natural thing to do although they didn't even know each other that well. She thought he'd tell her she was being paranoid or something but instead, he chose to do something he thought would make her feel more at ease. And it worked.
Harry held the door open for her when they arrived, guiding her to a table away from the windows and pulled out the chair for her to sit, being an absolute gentleman with her. And although Y/n insisted, Harry went for their coffees and paid for them as well, saying he was the one who invited her hence he'd be the one who pays.
Once they were settled with their own cups of coffee, they started talking. Mostly about Harry, Y/n still didn't feel comfortable enough to talk about herself and he understood so he let her ask him anything she desired.
"Do you go to England often?"
"Not as much as I'd like to. I try to go during summer and for the holidays, of course. Although for birthdays and such, I'm not always able to fly there."
"You must miss your family a lot." From what she's gathered about him, he was a family guy, so being away from his must be tough. She knew it was for her.
"I do. But I also love it here."
"Do you see yourself going back?"
"To London? Probably not. I have gotten used to being in the states so if I ever move back there full time I'd feel out of place."
She nodded along, listening to him carefully. Harry had a beautiful voice and he spoke slowly so it made it even more soothing than it already was. She swore this man could read her a bedtime story and she'd be out in the first minutes.
They talked for some more and bought another cup of coffee for the walk back to the flower shop. They were having a great time, and although they wouldn't say it out loud, none of them wanted it to end. So it was safe to say they both felt a little sad once they arrived at The Blossom House.
"Let me get the bouquet for you." Harry told her after they entered. He came back with a replica of the bouquet of daisies she saw earlier and she smiled. "It's on the house, tell Louise I say hi."
"You don't have to gift me flowers every time I come, you know that right?" She chuckled but grabbed the bouquet regardless.
"I know I don't have to but who says I don't want to?" He wiggled his eyebrows playfully, grinning at her.
"Thank you, Harry. For the coffee and the flowers."
"You're very welcome. I, uh, I had a great time today." He said, blushing a little.
"Me too."
"Do you think we could do it again some other time?" He asked hesitantly.
"I'd love to, honestly." Y/n admitted, starting to blush as well.
"So can I have your number or I'd have to wait until you come again?" He asked teasingly. "Swear I'll not sell it on e-bay."
"Can you even sell a telephone number on e-bay?" She asked, laughing as she took her phone out of her bag, handing it to him. "Feel free to text yourself so you could have mine too."
"I'll use it wisely, I promise."
"What do you mean?"
"Perhaps not only for coffee but for a nice dinner."
Yeah, she definitely hoped he'd do that.

"He's not coming back tonight, no?"
For a few moments, there was silence. A gust of wind blew past the apartment complex, rustling the leaves of the trees planted down below. You sat on the chair set up on your balcony. Looking over the metal railings, you admired how the yellow and red taillights of cars stuck in traffic bobbed up and down the street. Somehow, they looked like Christmas lights tossed in a messy line; Like they were discarded the morning right after Christmas because the tree had to be taken down again.
You hugged the jacket closer to your arms, hoping to gain more warmth. Inhaling the fresh scent of laundry detergent, you smiled. Eyes crestfallen and tears just barely swimming in your ducts. The cold breeze of December brushed past your hair, tickling the back of your neck. It's the first Christmas I'm spending without you.
Your cat, Maika, jumped on your lap. She purred and mewled, rubbing her head against your warm hand. You managed to choke out a small chuckle, petting the white fur of the cat. You let your eyes wander to the glass doors connecting the living room and balcony. Your couch was there, a duvet carelessly thrown on top of it. You shouldn't help but let a few drops of salty tears fall down your cheeks.
You weren't really the type of person to cry over silly things. In fact, you rarely cried at all. As far as you remember, the last time you cried over something petty was back in second grade. You were teased for cutting your own hair; Your bangs looked choppy, and one classmate even mentioned how you managed to cut a giant chunk out from the back of your head. Admittedly, you were pretty stupid for messing around with the scissors you found on the table, but you didn't really know any better. Anyway, who knew that hair took so long to grow back?
Other than that, you don't recall crying anymore. Throughout your middle and high school years, tears weren't really present to disrupt your life. Not even when Kuroo accidentally spiked a ball into the back of your head, and not even when Yaku accidentally kicked your shin because you were standing too close to his original target, Lev.
Lev.
Although you didn't find any reason for letting yourself cry during those years, you couldn't help but tear up when you remembered Lev. You were incredibly proud of yourself for counting up to five days without crying every since Lev left your shared apartment. However, today was Christmas eve. There were approximately three hours before Christmas, and here you were, spending it with Maika, on the balcony, crying your eyes out.
To be completely honest, you knew that it was your fault that Lev left. You were a rather independent person. You had a bold personality; Never afraid of being blunt to people, never afraid of telling others if they needed to be scolded. However, you were an absolute novice when it came to showing affection to Lev.
It was a surprise, to say the least, to the entire volleyball team that the cold-hearted manager, _____-san, was dating the eccentric and hyperactive first year, Haiba Lev. Yaku, Kuroo, and Kai were in shock upon hearing the news from Lev. At first, they thought he was just kidding, but when they heard it from you, their minds were beyond boggled.
-
"Eh?!"
"Seriously?"
"Kuroo-san, why do you look so surprised? You too, Yaku-san. And Kai-senpai, I didn't think you'd be interested in my love life as well." You calmly said, clipboard firm against your chest, as your eyes scanned the volleyball posters displayed in the volleyball club room.
"W-Well, I didn't think it was actually true because Lev was the one saying it. I thought he was just bullshitting us." Yaku admitted, scratching the back of his head before sending you a sheepish smile.
"You're growing up too fast, _____-san!" Kuroo quipped, wrapping his arms around you like a doting aunt, "You have a boyfriend now, I'm getting old!"
"Kuroo-san, please stop patronizing me. I have feelings too. Why does this come as a surprise to you all? Inuoka-kun and Futakuchi-kun also asked me if Haiba-kun and I were actually dating. It's not like I'm a robot or anything, I can... contract love too." Your disheveled form pried Kuroo's arms away from you, and you dusted your shoulders off as if Kuroo left dirt atop of them.
"You don't contract love, _____. It's not a disease." Yaku laughed at your poor choice of words.
"You, see _____-san, we just didn't think that you were interested in romance for the time being, and for you to be dating someone like Lev, it's surprising. In a good way, though, don't get me wrong. Lev's a good kid." Kai was the calmest of the bunch, but he was simply masking his happiness. He was the one who invited you to be their manager, after all. He saw how you grew out of your shell gradually. It's nice to see you enjoying the years of your youth, as Kuroo would put it.
"Ah, I see. To be honest, I didn't think I would also participate in a romantic relationship with anyone this early on. However, Haiba-kun successfully caught my attention. I think it would be a fun experience. Whatever happens, I get to grasp a further understanding of our Russian first year, and I also gain knowledge on the department of... love." You mentioned nonchalantly.
Kuroo, Yaku, and Kai all exchanged knowing looks; Something that screamed: "Are you sure you're not a robot?"
"_____-chan!" Lev's excited voice was heard from outside of the gym. The first years finally arrived, signifying that practice would begin soon.
"Pardon me. Thank you for your time." You bowed politely to the three seniors and walked over to where the first years were leaving their things.
"_____-chan I missed you a lot today! I only got to see you in free period earlier, and that was barely 10 minutes, but you're here now!" Lev was like a puppy. He was bouncing around, showering you with genuine compliments and adorations, his smile reaching the heavens above. Perhaps, if you pat his head, an invisible tail would wag? You considered the idea.
You managed to hold back a smile of your own, only replying with, "Get prepared for practice, Haiba-kun."
"_____-chan, you can call me Lev, you know? Since we are dating and all." The Russian said softly, wanting to get his point across, but not wanting to scare you.
"Maybe next time, Haiba-kun."
-
When you slipped inside your living room, you couldn't help but let out a few more sobs. There was a Christmas tree left half decorated just beside your television. Cans of tea and red bull were laying just on the feet of the couch. Half-empty and empty packets of chips were on the coffee table. God, you left the living room in such a messy state.
You pulled Lev's enormous (Well, it was enormous on you. But on Lev, it was the perfect size) jacket closer to your body, wishing you could smell his scent instead of the laundry detergent.
Maika wandered into the living room and onto her cat bed, stretching her paws and making herself comfortable before she went to take a nap.
You couldn't help but acknowledge the absolute dumpster fire when you saw yourself in the full body mirror near the entrance of your hallway. You were wearing a pair of fuzzy pajamas, an oversized shirt covered in stains and crumbs, and Lev's Nekoma jacket. Your hair was messy and ruffled, and you looked... pale. Eyes red and swollen, cheeks puffy, but your lips were white. You had never looked so awful before.
-
"_____-chan, you look amazing as always!" Lev came bounding to you.
"Congratulations on graduating! I'm so proud of you!" He took you in a tight embrace, lifting you up and spinning you around.
"H-Haiba-kun, please put me down!" You squealed, wriggling around in Lev's grip, trying to get away. For a split second, you could've sworn that Lev's face darkened, but you decided to brush it off.
Once your feet touched the ground, you managed to say a short and quiet "Thank you."
"Ah, this is really happening, isn't it?" Lev shoved his hands in his pockets, looking up at the cherry blossom trees in full bloom.
"Y-Yeah. It will even eventually happen to you too, Haiba-kun. It's the way that life progresses," You knew that you were pathetic at mustering a good enough reply, so you chose to fumble with the hem of your collar.
"Hey, _____-chan, do you love me?" Lev asked, suddenly serious. His gaze was still fixated on the trees above, their branches freely swaying in the wind, a few cherry blossoms fluttering down as the breeze carried them away.
A blush creeped up on your cheeks. Of course you loved him! More than... anything, if you were being honest. More than volleyball, more than red bull, more than anime, but why couldn't you say it?
"Speak up, damn it!" You thought to yourself.
After a few minutes passed, you were still tongue-tied. You hated yourself for not being able to express your feelings. There were already tears in your eyes, but you didn't want to cry in front of Lev; You vowed that you never would.
Lev looked down to see his senior in a low mood. "Don't worry, _____-chan! It's okay if you can't say it yet, I understand." Lev caught a single cherry blossom as it was falling down and tucked it behind your ear, " I'll wait for the day that you can say it back, so for now, I'll say it for the both of us, okay?"
You were embarrassed. You were such an asshole for doing this to Lev. To make up for your lacking skills in communication, you tapped his hand. Curiously, he opened his palm, and you placed a small object on top of it.
Lev's smile contained nothing but pure, concentrated glee.
"Thank you for the button, _____-chan, I will always cherish this. Happy anniversary. I love you so much!"
-
You found yourself standing at the doorway of your shared bedroom. You longingly stared at the queen-sized bed. The sheets were crisp and the pillows were fluffed. You haven't been sleeping in that bed since Lev left the apartment. It just didn't feel right. There was something about a heavier loneliness whenever you tried to sleep alone in that bed when you were so damn used to having Lev sleep beside you. That's why you've been sleeping on the couch ever since; It's uncomfortable as all hell, yeah, but at least you don't feel a large empty space beside you when you sleep. Maybe a few crumbs here and there, but that was bearable.
You pattered your way back into the living room, where your laptop lay buried under the empty chip packets. You grabbed it from underneath the rubbish and brushed off other residue before plopping down on the couch. You slipped your arms into the sleeves of Lev's jacket and opened up your laptop. You've been neglecting your uni works for the past days because your sadness just didn't allow you to function properly.
Upon entering your passcode, the black background of the loading screen faded into a photo of you and Lev. He was wearing a minnie mouse headband, and you wore the matching mickey mouse one. You were standing in front of sleeping beauty's castle at Tokyo disneyland. You were wearing Lev's gray hoodie, which made it look like you were wearing a really short dress because of how long it was. You were both smiling like idiots, and you recalled that that trip was one of the best of your life. You never usually smiled like that, but because Lev carried you bridal style and kept touching your sides, you couldn't help but squirm and smile in the photo.
Once again, tears were brimming in the corners of your eyes. The stinging pain of heartbreak and regret stabbing you over and over again.
-
"It's Christmas in five days, _____." Lev popped up from behind you while you were decorating the tree.
"Jeez! Don't scare me like that, I nearly dropped the lights." You replied, calming your racing heart. Was it because of how he scared you, or because of how close he was? Honestly. you couldn't tell.
Lev could only chuckle at this, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He gave you a kiss on the cheek. "You know, my first year at uni has been great so far. Thanks to you and a few of my friends."
"That's great then." You said, tone of voice returning to a monotone one.
"I love you, _____."
You couldn't even recall all the times that you froze up whenever Lev admitted his feelings for you, but add one to whatever number it's at right now.
You could only swallow your saliva and grip the lights tighter. Say it, ______, say it! You kept yelling in your head. Why can't you fucking say it?!
"I knew it." A low laugh was heard from Lev's mouth. His fists were turning white because of how hard he balled them up. His nails were digging into his palm. "Sometimes, I wonder if you even actually love me. But I guess you never did."
You turned your head abruptly. "Haiba, that's-"
Lev let out a hearty laugh, throwing his head back. "We've been dating for over three years now and you still call me by my last name. Are you that uncomfortable with me, _____-san?"
You cringed at how he emphasized the honorific following your name, probably trying to prove a point.
"You know that's not true."
"Of course it is!" He snapped. " For god's sake, _____, three years! Three years, and not once have you told me that you love me!"
You were on the brink of crying. No. No, not in front of him. You weren't weak, you weren't going to cry.
"In all those years that we've been together, I have never seen you cry. Not even when we're upset with one another. Are you... that cold-hearted that you don't care or you don't even feel anything? Not even for your own boyfriend?"
Silence.
The words he spat were like venom.
You couldn't speak. Your mouth felt dry and your throat felt like it closed in an instant, like some sort of invisible throat cover just squeezed itself right there, preventing you from speaking.
"I see how it is."
With that, Lev spun on his heel and went to their room. He grabbed a backpack and stuffed it with a couple of shirts, his wallet, his phone, charger, and other necessities. He slipped on the thickest jacket he owned and went straight to the front door.
"Le-"
"Goodbye."
He slammed the door shut.
-
That was probably the first time that you broke down in years. Who knew that it would be a guy behind your facade fading?
Who knew that Haiba Lev would be the one to make you realize that being strong-willed didn't mean being cold-hearted and nonchalant?
"Stupid Lev." You muttered to yourself, hugging your knees to your chest. Admittedly, his name seemed to roll off your tongue nicely.
You desperately tried to wipe your tears away, but they just kept coming.
"Why do I love you so much?"
-
"Lev, are you sure you're okay with what you're doing?" Yaku asked the taller male, taking a sip from his beer mug.
"Yaku-san, we've been together for a little over three years. They've never told me that they loves me. Never even cried. I think they're just that stone-hearted," Lev replied, taking a shot of vodka. "Either that or they're a fucking robot."
He fiddled with the necklace around his neck, contemplating whether he was going to pull it off and stomp on it until it broke. The charm attached to his necklace was the button that _____ gave him on back during her graduation day.
"Lev, you better listen to me, and you better listen real fucking good." Yaku's tone of voice was sharp, and it was something that Lev hasn't heard since his years at Nekoma. "You do know that _____ can't express their emotions well, right? They're blunt with everybody, and they're honest. But when it comes to love or romance or feelings that make them happy, you know that they can't show it as easily as you do."
"Yeah, I know." Lev answered quietly.
"But you do know that they love you, right?"
"I don't."
"You're telling me that you've never even felt that they love you?"
Suddenly, Lev's eyes shot open.
-
"Christ, you're going to catch a cold! Why the hell did you run out in this rain?!"
"Sorry, sorry! I just had to rush here to see you! I missed you soooo much!"
"Get inside and hop in the shower. I'll prepare some warm food for you while you're in there. There's a spare towel in the cupboard above the sink."
"Thank you, _____-chan!"
-
"Stupid beanpole. I told you to change clothes after practice yesterday, didn't I?"
"Sorry, _____-chan. I totally forgot." He coughed.
"Here, drink this medicine. I'll reheat your porridge and grab you a cold towel for your head. I'll also bring in the assignments that Inuoka gave me."
"You'd be a good wife, _____-chan. My wife, that is." Another cough.
"Shut up and rest before I hit you with this notebook."
"Yes, yes, darling."
-
"Where were you?! We've been looking for you everywhere!"
"S-Sorry, _____-chan. I saw this cat stuck in a tree and I just had to rescue it!"
"Don't go running off like that! Do you know how worried the team was? How worried I was?! I thought you were gone! Look at how many scratches you have on your arm. You need to go to the infirmary, now."
"I-I'm sorry."
"Just... Don't do it again, please. Always be in my line of sight."
"Yes, _____-sama!"
-
"Haiba, here's your water bottle."
-
"Haiba, the forecast said that there might be a downpour in the afternoon. Don't forget to bring an umbrella."
-
"Haiba, you left your books at the gym. Here. Jeez, don't be so forgetful next time."
-
"Haiba, here, I bought your favorite meal. Furihata said that you forgot your lunch at home. You can't go hungry."
-
"Haiba, you're doing well. Your progress report shows continuous growth. I'm proud of you."
-
"I'm a fucking idiot." Lev said. His emerald green eyes were filled with tears. "Excuse me, I have to go."
With that, he dashed out of the bar, leaving a confused Yaku with a drunk Kuroo passed out behind him.
The former libero could only sight and take a giant gulp of beer.
"Damn right you are."
-
You were full on crying right now. Approximately 10 minutes before Christmas, and here you were, crying on the couch. Maika had given up on comforting you, but remained by your side as you bawled you eyes out, offering some sort of moral support or assurance that someone was there for you.
However, a few moments passed, and Maika's ears perked up. She jumped down from the couch and made her way to the front door of the apartment. She lightly scratched the door.
"M-Maika, I'm sorry. I know I'm being too loud, I'll pipe down soon." The girl blubbered, blowing into a tissue.
As if on cue, there were multiple knocks on the door.
Fuck's sake.
You didn't even care that you'd be facing whoever is on the other side of the door while looking like this. Your eyes were puffier, the bags under them more prominent. Your nose was a rosy red color, cheeks flushed and tear stains were obvious on them.
"Who the fuck-?"
As soon as you opened the door, a sudden warmth engulfed your body. The familiar fragrance you loved so much flooded your blocked nostrils.
"Le-"
"I'm sorry."
There was silence.
"I'm so sorry for everything that I said, _____. I take all of it back. I know that you love me. Your love language isn't vocal and I should have been more accepting and understanding of that. I may not know your reasons for being the way you are, but I promise you that I accept you wholly. I'm so, so fucking sorry that I left so suddenly. I love you so much. I'm never leaving you again."
Sobs racked through your body. Your form was shaking in Lev's arms. He was surprised. It's the first time he's seen you cry, and it breaks his heart knowing that he's the reason behind it.
"I'm sorry, kitten. Please don't cry anymore."
"Lev," You started, attempting to calm down, and Lev swore his heart stopped beating for a second, "I love you."
For a moment, everything stopped. They could hear the neighbors yelling "Merry Christmas!" in their own units.
"P-Pardon?"
You giggled. "I love you, Lev. I'm really sorry that it took me this long to tell you. I guess I was just scared of telling you how I really felt because... I didn't want you to think that I was cheesy or..."
Lev cut you off with a kiss. It was short and sweet. He could taste red bull and barbecue chips on your lips, and you could taste vodka on his. It was imperfect, but it was yours, and you loved it.
"I love you so much, _____. This is the best Christmas gift I've ever received."
"I love you too, Lev."
"Come on, let's get inside. I bought some takeout for us to eat." He easily lifted you up with one arm and grabbed the plastic bag of takeout with his free hand.
"Yeah, about that," You buried your face in his neck, "I'm sorry."
"We'll... Clean up tomorrow." He chuckled, looking at the messy state your living room was in. "We'll eat in our room, okay? Why don't you get cleaned up first, and I'll prepare the things we need." He placed a kiss on your cheek.
"Alright, Lev." You replied, "Sorry for causing a lot of trouble."
"Don't be sorry, malishka. We're fine now, okay? We have each other and we understand each other better now." He set you in front of the bathroom. "Now, go ahead and shower! I'll get a fresh set of clothes for you and leave them out here."
"Thank you, Lyovochka." You grinned, using Alisa's nickname for him.
"Anytime, babe." Lev turned around to go to the bedroom until,
"Hey, Lev?" You showed your head out of the bathroom door.
"Yes, _____?"
"I love you!"
The, the door was slammed shut.
"_____, you're too cute!" Lev had to use every strand of will power he had to not faint on the spot.
Who knew that his kuudere partner was such a huge softie?
Maola mewled and rubbed her head against Lev's leg.
"Merry Christmas to you too, Maika."

Luke x Ashley Imagine| Sunset Curve
NEED TO KNOW: Ashley and Luke are best friends and are the two lead singers in Sunset Curve. (Bobby is not included in Sunset Curve this time.) It is 2020 and this time around Luke, Reggie and Alex never die. Ashley is also Alex’s younger sister by a year and they live in the house where Julies lived. They are still 17 so they were born in 2003 with Ashley in 2004.
It’s been 8 years since we played at the Orpheum and Sunset Curve became huge. Tonight we had just finished our last performance of this tour and we had decided to go to a club and celebrate.
We walked into the club with our fake ID’s and I instantly ordered a dozen shots for the group. Three each to start off with. Alex and Reggie winced as the alcohol burned their throats. Me and Luke chuckled as we downed our shots easily. “I’m hitting the dance floor” Reggie said and walked off. Luke smiled. “I’m joining him” Luke stated and he too sauntered off into the midst of the crowd.
“You killed it on the drums tonight, big bro” I said and playfully punched Alex’s shoulder. He grinned. “Your duet with Luke was amazing, when will you admit that you’ve fallen head over heels for him, everyone can see the chemistry when you guys sing” Alex smirked. I narrowed my eyes. “I don’t know what you mean” I replied as I downed another shot. “You know exactly what I mean little sis, you just won’t admit it too me ‘cause I’m your big brother and it’s just weird to talk to your brother about guys” Alex said in a high pitched girly voice. “Weirdo” I mumbled. “You love me” Alex said and elbowed me gently. I broke into smile. “Yeah, yeah, whatever.”
My conversation with Alex was interrupted when Reggie walked over. “Holy, shit, Luke is way too good at dancing, I couldn’t keep up with him” Reggie complained. I burst into laughter but it was cut short when I caught Luke. He was dancing extremely close to another girl. The girl then started grinding against Luke’s body and tears filled my eyes. “Ashley, what’s wrong?” Reggie and Alex asked at the same time. I took a deep breath and shook my head. “Nothing” I choked out and ran out of the club and onto the street. I didn’t want to see what was going on inside of the club anymore. I called for a Taxi to drive me to the apartment we were staying in.
**Time Skip**
I unlocked the door to our apartment and walked in, flicking the lights on. The rest of the boys probably wouldn’t be home till like 2am and it was only 11pm. I closed the door behind me and slumped against it, tears pouring out of my eyes. Alex was right, I was crushing on Luke, maybe I had even fallen in love with him and now I was too late. Getting back up on my feet, I went into my room and started quietly singing Always Remember Us This Way from A Star Is Born. Deciding to go to bed, I changed into one of Alex’s shirts and pulled on a pair of sweatpants before climbing into bed and falling into a dreamless sleep.
**Next Morning**
I woke up with a tiny headache and reached for the glass of water on my bedside table and downed it. Getting out of bed I checked the time and saw it was 10am. I pulled my hair into a messy bun then walked out into the kitchen to grab some food. There was nothing I wanted except for ice cream so I pulled out the tub and grabbed a spoon and dug into it. Moments later my phone started going off and I unlocked it to see heaps of notifications about articles. Confused as heel, I tapped one of the articles and started to read. It was a theory of Luke getting together with someone and there was a photo of Luke and the girl dancing. Sighing, I closed my phone and kept eating the ice cream. “Hey, how you doing, Ashley?” Reggie asked as he came out of his room. I smiled sadly. “Been better, Reg.” Reggie walked over. “Jesus Ashley, you look like shit” he said loudly. He was right though. My eyes were puffy and red with bags underneath them. I was a huge mess. “Yeah, yeah, rub it in, I know” I said sarcastically. “Sorry” he mumbled. “It’s all good Reg” I replied. “Get a spoon and have some of this ice cream, it’s yum as” I told him.
Half an hour later Alex had joined me and Reggie and now we were all sitting on the couch watching one of the performances from our tour. I still looked like shit as I hadn’t been bothered to have a shower or anything yet. Luke was still in bed anyway. As we kept watching the performance, it had come up to the song that me and Luke had written together for a duet, while Alex and Reg backed it up. I smiled softly at the memory. Me and Luke had almost kissed that night too. As that thought came into my head, my eyes started tearing up. “Maybe, we should turn it off” Alex suggested and turned it off. I wiped the tears from my eyes just as Luke walked out of his room. I gulped as we made eye contact. Luke was also a mess, he had obviously been crying for some reason. His eyes were red and really puffy, his face was really pale and his hair was all over the place. “I’m sorry guys, I whispered and ran into my room and locked it behind me. I needed to get out of here. I pulled on some black jeans, combat boots, a flannel shirt and I tied it at my waist. Washing my face and tying my hair, I realized that this was all I needed. To get dressed and go out. I clipped my chains onto my jeans and clipped my wallet and keys to it too then shoved my phone in my pocket.
I walked out of my room and out the door, once again glancing at Luke who had taken my seat on the couch and had his head in his hands, I heard a few sniffles and my heart broke. “I screwed everything up” Luke mumbled. Alex looked up and he saw me. Tears filled my eyes again. “I can’t” I mouthed then walked out the door, it closed loudly behind me which made Luke look up and he saw me. As we caught each other’s eye, I could see even more tears well in his eyes and it felt like I could see his heart break. I couldn’t handle it though. Even though we weren’t together it still hurt like hell, but he admitted he was attached to me in a way he couldn’t explain but it was obviously a lie.
Walking out in the street I saw a sign up. I realized it was a photo of me and Luke at the beach. It had been for a photoshoot of the whole band then it ended up turning into a photo of just me and Luke. I smiled sadly at the memory. I kept walking down the streets and I decided to walk too the beach where the photo was taken.
I got to the beach and I sat down on the sand. “God Luke, why did I have to fall in love with you” I spoke aloud as a single tear rolled down my cheek. Suddenly, a person sat next to me and I turned to see the person’s face and it was one I could never forget. Luke. “Ashley, I am so, sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I just, it’s just, I don’t even know. I know I told you I was attached to you in a way that I couldn’t explain and it’s true but I don’t know what happened last night. That girl was just there and there’s no excuse for it. I hurt you so badly and I hate myself for it. It hurts me that I hurt the one girl I love. Ashley, I’m super, super sorry, if you can’t forgive me, I understand but I will do anything to make it up too you” Luke rambled on as tear fell from his eyes. Looking at the boy in front of me, I could see the guilt was killing him inside. “Luke, I-I don’t know what to say. I think I forgive you but it hurt what you did. I know we’re not together or anything but you made me feel alive when you told me you were attached to me” I mumbled. Luke slowly reached for my hand and I let him take it. “I am sorry, I know I can’t undo it, but I promise to never hurt you again, ever!” Luke admitted. Smiling softly, I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear then stood up, bring Luke with me. “I forgive you Luke.”
Luke gave me one of his beautiful smiles that I had missed so much. “Did you say you that you love me Luke?” I questioned. Luke looked me dead in the eye. “I love you so much Ashley, I always have but I’ve been too afraid to admit it and I was afraid what Alex would do if he knew I loved it his little sister. But, it was him that told me I should make it up to you and that I would find you here. But to answer your question. I love you so much more than words can explain” Luke admitted. My heart swelled in my chest. “I love you too Luke, so, so much.”
Luke smiled again. Slowly, he pulled me closer to him and put one hand around my waist and one hand was on the side of my face. I closed my eyes as we both slowly leant closer and closer. Within his lips were pressed against mine and my hand had snaked around his shoulders. I leant in more to deepen the kiss and I could feel a smile etch itself onto my face. Luke broke the kiss and looked me in my eyes. “Can I ask you something?” I raised an eyebrow. “Always, you know you can” I told him. “Will you be my girlfriend, officially?” Luke asked. Happy tears filled my eyes. “Yes, Luke, of course” I said happily as I pulled him in for a tight hug. “I’m sorry it took me so long to ask” Luke said sheepishly. I smiled. “I would’ve waited the world for you” I replied.
Luke brought me in closer to to him and our lips melted together again. “You are my world, Ashley” Luke mumbled.

Mother’s Day
[Twin Snowflakes]
It’s early in the morning. Weiss has just woken up to something a bit out of the ordinary. Someone had picked her outfit out already. It was an office dress; nothing too special. Except it was pure black with a glittery red belt and a slit in the dress on the left side. What made it strange though was Someone placed her black wig and red contacts next to it.
Needless to say, she was intrigued and was going to wear it. In a matter of minutes she was walking through her hallways in it.
Bleiss:Hello!? Yo, my little rugrats?.....Babe? I know one of you has to awa-
She turned the corner to see Jaune in a dashing white business suit and an over the top decorative bow on his head that was held in place by ribbon that went over his body; complete with a note.
Bleiss:Well hey there sexy. Looking a bit finer than usual.
Jaune:And you look every bit as gorgeous as the day I met you; better in fact.
Bleiss:*red* Are you going to read that note for me handsome?
Jaune:*clears throat* “Dear Mother Goose-
Bleiss:*snorts* (These kids...)
Jaune: “Happy Mother’s Day! We took deliberately or persuading dad to put on the suit you bought for him and waking up early enough to make breakfast downstairs. We’ll be out the house until dinner time. With love, you little rugrats.”
Bleiss:Should we be concerned our children basically know what we- what I like to do when we have alone time?
Jaune:You’re not exactly subtle when you’re like this.
Bleiss:I can’t help that you’re so irresistible. Though I don’t get what’s up with my suit.
Jaune:That wasn’t them. It was all me. I already said this but...
He saunters over to Bleiss who can’t help but smirk as his hand reaches for her waist and pulls her closer.
Jaune:You look really gorgeous today.
Bleiss:Isn’t breakfast waiting for us?
Jaune:That look in your eyes tell me you aren’t that hungry.
Bleiss:Not for food, no. So you gonna kiss me already or-mmph!?
Her words were cut off by a deep and loving kiss. What a good way to start the morning.
xxxx
Nora woke up and did her usual morning routine. Shower, stretching, and her workout clothes. Time to start the day. She walked over to her bed and kissed her sleeping husband on the cheek “Bye sweetie.” Nora said, before heading out of the room.
She almost made it out of her home when something caught her eye. A light from another room was coming from around the corner. The kitchen? Nora made her way towards the kitchen and hit with the glorious smell of pancakes. A hardy stack of them in heart shapes were on the counter while Valerie was washing the pan that they were made in. The girl grabbed two forks and an obscene amount of syrup.
Nora:Well whay do we have here!? Color me impressed.
Valerie:Happy Mother’s Day. How about we also make it a cheat day?
Nora:I say we are going to need a hundred more pancakes before it counts as a cheat day.
Ren:*walks in* Then I guess you need a master chef.
Nora:Oh you’re awake!
Ren:*kisses her cheek* Today is a special day.
Valerie:Let’s chow down!
Ren and Nora:Yeah!
xxxx
knock knock knock
Ruby:*opens door* Hello-
Summer:*holding a cookie jar* We know this might be a bit weird but....
Nick:*holding Roses* You’re basically like a mom to us too.
Summer and Nick:So Happy Mo-
Ruby pulls both of them into a giant hug and holds them close. The twins look a little stunned at first before hearing Ruby sniffle softly. They not wrap their arms around her in a loving embrace.
Ruby:Thank you....
xxxx
Veronica:Hey mom? Can you come here real quick and help me with some fabric?
Blake:I’m a little busy at the moment.
Veronica:*pouts* It would really be appreciated. If you could help. It would only take second.
Blake:*walking in* If it’s that easy than why- shut the fuck up!!!! Is this....!?
In that moment, Blake remembered what today was. She had been so busy with work that it crossed her mind. Even if she never forgotten, Blake would’ve been happy with a card. Instead she stood in front of an elegant kunoichi inspired outfit. The base was black win a purple haze design that went around it as if to give it a smokey look. Dark purple was also the color of the hems and sleeve cuffs with the black becoming accent on it. All topped off with a beautiful purple bow tied in the back. This alone was exceptional, but something made it better. It was....
Blake:Is this a replica of the main protagonist’s outfit from Ninjas of Love!?
Veronica:To. The. Last. Stitch.
Blake:*tearing up* Veronica this is outstanding! Wait, why are you reading-
Veronica:*red* I like the plot! Moving on... I hope you enjoy this and I don’t know if you’ll get the perfect opportunity to wear this but hey. I’m sure you’ll find an excuse.
Blake:You know I will. *hugs her* I love you.
Veronica:*purring* I know!
Yang:Hey have you seen- woah is that...?
Blake:Yeah it is!
Yang:Veronica knocked it out of the park this year.
Veronica:It’s you that’s the tricky one. *red* Your gift is a little more abstract. I know I’m usually busy and not the easiest person to deal with. I also know we don’t really spend time together that much anymore so-
Yang.*hugging her* Is someone trying to spend the entire day with me?
Veronica:If...that’s okay?
Yang:Silly kitty. It’s always going to be okay. I love you.
Veronica:I....I love you too.
xxxx
*door opens*
Nick:We’re back!
Summer:Please be decent!
Jaune:*making dinner* We’ve been decent for hours.
Summer:We never know with you two. (I’m surprised we don’t have another set of twins or something.)
Nick:Now then, did we come home to mother goose or mama duck? *smiling*
He got his answer answer in the form of long white hair coming from around the kitchen corner and rushing over to grab both him and his sister. All three falling over to the ground as they laughed and hugged each other.
Weiss:Hello my baby ducklings!
Summer and Nick:Happy Mother’s Day mom!
Weiss:It really is, isn’t it?
[Lasting Embers]
Raven:Hey, I’m going out Tai.
Tai:Before you go can you stop by Yang’s and drop off those sunflowers?
Raven:Her house is the complete opposite direction.
Tai:Just open a portal.
Raven:Fine. *opens portal* You know a present means more if-
Yang:SURPRISE!!!
Without warning, Yang comes jumping through from the other side. Tackling Raven right to the ground and hugging her. Raven’s face turns red as she notices balloons and a box with the Schnee logo; most likely some high quality dust blades.
Raven:Yang!? What are you-
Yang:Happy Mother’s Day you grouchy mama bird. *grinning*
Raven:....
Raven:*smiles* After all these years you’re as energetic as ever. Once a baby bird, always a baby bird. *hugs her*
Yang:!!?*red*
Raven:Tai where you in on this?
Tai:Duh. I’m also in on Yang’s gift.
Yang:My gift? I was just home and got a card.
Tai:*smiles* But now you’re here and not home. A lot can change in a matter of minutes.
That peeked Yang’s interest. Her and Raven stared at the portal that was still opened in curiosity before getting up and jumping through. Tai chuckled at their anticipation and went through as well.
He was rewarded with the sight of his daughter covering her mouth with amazement as she tried not to jump up and down like a kid. They were all outside, including Jaune who was smiling. As well as Yujin who was also covered in motor oiled while she posed arms crossed right next to motorcycle that looked liked Yang’s old one.
Yujin:Meet bumblebee 2.0! Built from the ground up by yours truly after months of hardwork. You have many people to think for this accomplishment since this was no blueprints for the original.
Yang:How the heck did you get so accurate! The leather even feels right!
Yujin:Someone remembers what it felt like when it ran full force into him.
Yang:No fricken way....
Yujin:Adam says you’ll personally have to fight him again if you launch this bike at anyone or off a cliff.
Yang:Damnit, no I have to thank him. That was probably his plan from the get go.
Jaune:Stop whinnying and take this thing for a spin. *tosses her a helmet*
Yang:Wanna come admire your handiwork with your dear old mom Yujin?
Yujin:Hell Yeah!
Yang:Let’s go visit Tenzen.
Yujin:*pulls out scroll* He’s a bit busy.
She flips the scroll around and plays a video from earlier today.
Tenzen:*grinning* Hey Yujin, I think my mom likes her present. What’s your opinion? *flips camera around*
Nora:*holding a sloth* This is the greatest moment that has ever happened in my entire life...! He’s so cute!!!
xxxx
(Night time)
Jacquelyn:*watering flowers*..... (Hmm, haven’t seen the kids all day. They must be planning something, or maybe they forgot. No...well, they have been busy lately.)
A frown crept up on her face. She was used to simple gifts since money was tight so that wasn’t a problem. She just wanted them to say. Jacquelyn continue to get wrapped up in her thoughts until something cool ran across the top of her forehead. She looked up to see an orbs of water in front of her. They were floating, all the water she was pouring upwards; her entire body was floating. “Huh?”
A shadow drifted over her during this clear moon lit night; shadows that had horns and cat ears. Jacquelyn looked up with big smile to see her daughters floating towards her with petals of numerous flowers following them. All of them a variety of colors that rivaled any sunset or rainbow. The two grabbed their mom and put her right in the center of it all as they held her close.
Sienna:Happy Mother’s Day to the women who brings color to our lives...
Jael:And sweeps us off our feet.
Jacquelyn:Awww you guys. This is gorgeous.
Sienna:It took us longer than we thought to find enough flowers. This is the desert after all.
Jael:Not to mention the annoying grimm, but we managed!
Jacquelyn:You could’ve just gotten me a card.
Sienna:We do that every year! This one had to be special!
Jael:Yeah, you’re the best! With your powers now your garden will be twice as big.
Jacquelyn:*tearing up* Thank you. (Heh, I almost forgot. With these two....)
Sienna and Jael:We love you!)
Jacquelyn:*crying* (I’ll never be forgotten)
The three remained floating up there enjoying the view. Not knowing a certain someone was watching from below.
Adam:*smiling*
[Premonition]
Blake:*writing*
Secretary:Uh, Mrs Belladonna? It’s time for lunch.
Blake:That’s fine, I’ll just work through it. I have to these documents done by tomorrow night.
Secretary: Ah yes, he thought you might say that. Or I guess he knew you would.
Blake:!? “Knew?”
The secretary walked in a placed a bento box on her desk before leaving. Blake put down her pen and opened it to find it filled with various sushi; cooked and uncooked. Along with heart shaped rice balls and a note. Blake smiles and read it immediately.
“Do your best to unite the world. Can’t do it on an empty stomach though. Happy Mother’s Day.”
Blake:.....
Lucas:*laying in a hammock* (I wonder...if she’ll like it? I followed dad’s instructions but that doesn’t mean she’ll like it.) Hmmm
Blake:Someone looks concerned.
Lucas:Mom!? *sits up* Shouldn’t you be working!?
Blake:It’s lunch break. I wanna spend it with my special little guy. You made way too much food for one person you know? *smiles* Almost like you wanted me to come home to share. Predict that too?
Lucas:*red* More like wishful thinking.
Blake smiled and sat next to him. She quickly learned in a kissed his cheek which made Lucas wanna curl up in embarrassment and Blake laugh.
Blake:Wish granted.
Lucas:Happy Mother’s Day mom.
Blake:Hehe, thank you.
[Rosebud]
Another day, another job well done. For the most part anyways. A couple of nevermore had taken the wind out of Ruby’s sails by launching a feather at her right ankle. Now she was walking home with a limp. Crescent rose on her back didn’t make it easier, or the fact she was going through sand. At least she had the brains to take off her heels before reaching she made it to the rough terrain. The sun was setting but no grimm scared her; at this point she did not care about making everyone of them stone. If she can get over the sand dune in front of her that is.
Ruby:(Stupid nevermore with their stupid sharp feathers. Since when do they curve through the air? That’s definitely new.) Ugh, I’m definitely taking the longest bath when I get home.
???:That sounds nice.
Ruby’s head perked up immediately. She was a bit more tired than she thought. On top of the dune was a person. Not just anybody though, herself? All she saw was a silhouette but she was definitely looking at her old clothes from Atlas. The figure stepped closer and out of the glaring sunbeam. It was Carmine, and she was looking a bit winded herself.
Ruby was thrown for a loop on why her daughter was wearing those old clothes or looked like she ran a marathon. She didn’t get a chance to ask before Carmine lifted her mother up and onto her back; carrying Ruby up the dune.
Ruby:Ummm thank you? What’s this all about.
Carmine:You’re hurt. Why wouldn’t I carry you?
Ruby:I was talking more about the outfit. You aren’t a fan of skirts or anything too fancy.
Carmine:*blushing* Yeah well, I know how much you think I look cute in them so I thought I’d pick the coolest looking one,
Ruby:Awww for me? How cute.
Carmine:This goes right back in the box after today!
Ruby:So is this my gift?
Carmine:You’re a third right. The other half you’ll see when we get to the top.
Ruby:Ooooo
A few minutes passed before Ruby got why her daughter was tired. As they reached the top Ruby saw nothing but what looked like an ocean of crimson that surrounded her house down in the distances. “Is that red sand?”
“Look closer..” Carmine said. Ruby squinted and on closer inspection Ruby realize that the red she was seeing was roses. Hundreds of roses that each shimmered faintly like raindrops being hit by sunlight. “Woah.....”
Carmine smiled confidently. “Now look at it as a whole.”
“A whole? What, is it a pic-my symbol!?” Ruby screamed in shock. The roses were postponed perfectly to recreate her symbol with the house right in the center of it all.
Ruby:How the- this is- Carmine this is amazing! I didn’t even think you could make this many roses!
Carmine:Not without dad’s help. He’s almost has burnt out as I am. I’m sure both of you though will find your second wind in time for bed though.
Ruby:*Blushing* Carmine!
Carmine:Don’t be mad because I’m right. I’ll be knocked out though so I doubt you’ll wake me or Garnet.
Ruby:What’s the third part of this present?
Carmine:He’s at home with dad making cookies.
Ruby:Fuck yeah! This day rules. Worth the injury. Thanks sweetheart. *holds on tighter* You’ve really grown up strong huh? I’m glad....
Carmine:Hehe, I... had good teachers. Happy Mother’s Day....

Borro Cassette ( chapter 1)
Part 2 of my series : “ Heal our Scars”
Pairing :  Modern!Jackie Welles / Original Female Character
Rated : Teens and up
( I really ship Jackie and V and Jackie and Misty but I keep writing him with original characters lol). Anyway. Here some angst and hurt, enjoy if you can :p
----
Knock, knock, knock!
Mey gasped.
A brutal yet sloppy knocking on her door woke her up from a peaceful rest.
She knew no one who would knock on her door, especially not at …2am on a weekday? Jackie was the first person that came to her groggy mind, but Jackie, he had his key, as the only and special member of her VIP club, of course he had his key, unless…
“ Oye mi amor, no me digas que no
Y vamos juntando las alma-aaaas”
Fucking Jackie it was.
“Oye mi amor, no me digas que nooooooo”
Knock! Knock!
“Y vamos juntando los cuerp-ooooos”
His drunken massacre of the song continued on and on as she hurriedly put a robe on and dashed to the door, messily unlocking it.
“What’s— ow ow ow –“
A very dressed up but wasted Jackie tripped on her doorstep, and she had to maneuver a sloshed +300lbs to the wall to prevent her from ending like a stain of mashed pepetos on the floor.
“Ah… knew you would open-you…” he slurred, a lazy smile tugging on his lips.
“Wh- why wouldn’t I?” out of breath and bemused, she tried to support them both as far as her untrained arms could, as he let himself slump further into her. A few moments passed like that and she thought he’d blacked out on her, when she felt his hot breath on her neck.
“Bathroom” he urged in a huff, he sounded pained.
“Yeah of course, of course”
With an approximative shoulder move, she pushed her bathroom door open for him and he fell on his knees before the sink. It’s just when she switched the lights on that she saw.
“Holy fuck! your eye, what the fuck happened!?”
He grumbled, before discharging another pack in the sink.
“Whaddaya think happened?” He wiped his mouth, coughing the last remnants.
“Feel better?” she presented a glass of water “I have coffee, too”
“For later, maybe” Jackie dragged himself to her couch, Mey followed, folded her robe carefully as she faced him, seated on her living room coffee table. Seconds passed in worried silence.
“Now you gonna tell me what happened or not?”
“Huh? Yeah… what happened, Lin… woud-dn’t let me i-hn…”
“That, I know, otherwise you wouldn’t crash like a sack of ham at my door”
“Eugh, don’t be harsh on me, cariño” he closed his eyes, pinched the bridge of his nose.
Jackie only called her sugar-coated names when he was drunk, she sighed.
“Jack, what happened to your eye!”
“Ehn this… Beat up some pendejo, made’im eat his own shit-“
He gave her a drunken, smug smile and shrugged, that’s when her phone started to beep, a message popped in:
Hey Mey, Jackie’s there?
Lin. She debated whether or not to answer, as she anxiously eyed the icebag she put on his damaged eye. Jackie still had those involuntary jolts because of the temperature difference. The man was always too hot, but when drunk, he just burnt like a furnace.  She tried not to linger too much on his sweaty neck, the way the few first buttons of his pale blue shirt gave a good glimpse at his generous cleavage, adorned with his eternal golden chains. She inhaled deep and decided to tap.
Yeah… he’s here, drunk, but ok.
The answer didn’t linger to come.
Thanks god. I know you’ll take good care of him. I couldn’t let him in like that. He has to learn. Thank you Mey, I owe you one. See ya.
Yeah. Mey sighed deeply.
“Oye, watcha looking at in your phone?” Jackie had opened one eye.
“Porn”
“Ay, hate to disrupt” he snickered.
“Your… Lin just texted me”
“Pft”
“You guys are ok?”
“Ella ya no me entiende… no me entiende…” He shook his head, suddenly down.
Do you even still… love her? Mey had only this question in mind, but instantly felt a pang of guilt for thinking to take advantage of her friend’s state to worm truths outta him.
“Had she seen you like that?”
“Didn’t even spare a look’a me”
“It’s not the first time huh”
“What’sss noht” Jackie frowned, apparently needing to focus to make out the simplest questions.
“You coming home to her like that”
“Man’s gotta live too”
“That’s what you call living, Jack?” she poked a finger on his ice bag and he grunted in a boozy protest.
“Ah, now you talk like her…’f you gonna talk like her, I better go!” He tried to lift himself off her couch, but he collapsed down with a thud and a grunt.
“Easy on my couch legs, gordi” She giggled as he gave up struggling with himself.
“Here, let me” She sighed and replaced his hands on his belt, trying to swiftly remove it, chastising the very innocent thoughts that screamed in her mind, she hoped he would shut up and let her do it quickly. She made a hasty work of his shoes next, glancing back at him, she saw him drifting to sleep, a peaceful expression drawn on his face. She didn’t think of her couch as the best place for him to spend the night, but she couldn’t think of a better option, and it was impossible to convince him to change position now, anyway.  She winced, thinking of the state of his neck in the morning, when she heard his low complaint.
“Shirt too… caliente…”
Are you kidding me, Welles?
She didn’t know where to start, pinching her eyelids shut and letting out a long exhale, she felt suddenly tired.
She couldn’t bring herself to touch him again, it was like someone tied her hands together. She thought of Lin, probably asleep in their luxurious loft somewhere in Causeway Bay, tulips sleeping beside her in expensive glass, her boyfriend trusted between the hands of his best friend. They were going to be engaged, Mey saw it in how Lin talked, how she suddenly settled definitely in his once grey and black apartment. Lin was a beautiful woman, all legs and silky skin, soft-spoken and sweet, and as if to make it worse, she was smart and composed, poised when Jackie was hot-headed, tempering his ardent personality perfectly. Mey acknowledged that for some time, she liked them together. Or, she hadn’t had the choice, anyway. Lin was already there when she knew Jack, had always treated her with grace. In all the Welles events, Mey was included, and that extended even to dinners Lin would exclusively hold for her models friends. She was familia, as Jack liked to emphasize, and Lin went with the flow, albeit never offering her her open friendship, she never displayed displeasure or jealousy at her presence, and why would she? She was always showered in Jackie’s most undivided attention, while Mey, a small assemblage of clumsy limbs and nervous shyness, watched from afar the kisses and the caresses and all that PDA shit and cheered and laughed and tried, always tried to overlook it, to push it away. She sometimes succeeded to forget that her dresses were never above the knee and that she would never accept their cheerful invitations for beach trips.
Mey absentmindedly traced the rough edges of her ribs, down to her thighs, the skin there would never heal, she knew.  She looked at Jackie again, snoring softly, his shirt resting on her lap now. Shirt on or off, he still was sweating his balls off. She had a final gesture of freeing his hair from his tight top knot, smoothing it gently before she switched all the lights off and wished him a hushed good night.
*
Mey woke up to fried eggs scent and something else, something saucy and pleasant. She sleepily pushed her drool-stained pillow and sighed, half content half longing, distantly recalling the previous night. Invisible tickly fingers were dragging her to the kitchen, but she first made a detour to the bathroom, smoothing her hair, washing her face and putting some clothes on, something more covering than her sleeping shorts, something that wouldn’t display her- she closed her eyes and hurried up changing, wearing her most cheerful voice as she entered her kitchen.
“Hi”
“Buenos dias!“
“What are you doing?” Jackie was visibly in his element, a hand stirring his ranchera sauce, the other shaking the pan, a kitchen cloth loosely thrown on his solid shoulder. And Mey didn’t know over what or who to drool anymore.
“Eh… a thank- you - I’m- sorry breakfast?”
“You’re silly” She laughed “Mornin’ Jack, how’s the eye?”
“Known worse, take a seat hermana, mi especial huevos rancheros are almost ready!”
“I’ve… your shirt is hung on the bathroom door’s-, it’s clean” She stuttered, thinking she couldn’t take another second of those exposed pecs. What was wrong with her, lately?
“Ah, my shirt can wait, relax and let ol’ Jackie serve you” he patted the seat next to him. He’d put the fried eggs and the sauce on the cooked tortillas, peppered it all with chopped cilantro. The view of the colorful dish was distracting her for a moment as she hummed with anticipation.
“I don’t remember having tortillas around, Jackie”
“S’just a ten-minute trip to the closest supermarket, shame they didn’t have cotija cheese, you’d like it better”
“I’m sure I would, now let’s eat! Won’t we?”
That’s when Jackie’s phone decided to come to life. Mey stopped mid-chew, eying her friend as he devoured his second tortilla, seemingly ignoring the call. She decided to shut up too, the scene reminded her of the first time they met, and she stifled a pensive smile.
“Hey, on which bird’s wing you’re flying?”
“Euh, nothing” she hesitated as her smile faltered.
“Tell me, Jack, about last night… Do you know if any cameras were watching?”
Jackie puffed his cheeks, rambled something she couldn’t understand.
“Of course you don’t, you were like a sheet in the wind”
She didn’t mean it to sound depreciative, but it slipped before she could swallow it.
Jackie started to bounce his leg, like every time he was stressed and uncomfortable. She hated to push, but for some reason, her worries beat her delicacy.
“Do you know the guy at least? I mean… is he one of you fellow boxers? An acquaintance? Jack, I really hope you didn’t mess with one of the high finance guys here… Tell me you didn’t”
Jackie was scratching his tattoos now.
“No, no. No te preocupes por mi, I’ll have a word with the club owner, he knows-“
“Jack, you know the stakes for your caree-“
Jackie’s phone rang again, and he let out a series of colorful Spanish curses.
“I think you should pick up”
“I’m not picking up, mierda!”
Mey gasped in her chair, but he was quick to take her hand, soothing.
“Lo siento, that’s not about you, I’m sorry” he held his head in his hands, rubbing his temples.
“I think I fucked up, Mimi, big time” His voice was tired and shallow.
Her phone beeps prevented her from answering. It was Lin, again.
Please Mey, can you tell Jackie to pick up?
“What’s going on, Jackie?” The huevos rancheros were long forgotten, cooling neglected on the small table in the late morning light.
He winced, eyes looking around, evasive, pained, shameful?
Another beep.
Our gynecologist appointment is in 30 minutes, he can’t do that to me. Talk sense into him, please, you’re the only one he listens to.
“Jack, you have an appointment with the gynecologist in 30 minutes?” She slowly questioned, incredulous eyes still on the text, searching for any mistakes, and finding none. Mey’s stomach churned, but the words didn’t have the time to settle in and it was her phone that rang this time.
“No, no, no, Mey! no contestar!”
All she gave him was a stern look before pressing the reply button.
“Por favo-“
“I’m sending him to you in five minutes”
“Hey, I-“
They were both standing now, in an almost antagonistic way, and Jackie didn’t know what hurt more, the disappointment or the wounded look in his best friend’s eyes.
“You have five minutes to leave this place” Mey’s voice broke, before she ran off to her room, slamming and locking the door behind her.

A Man for Himself (Norton xEli)
Genre: Romance, Thriller, Horror, Fantasy
Rating: R-18
Pairing: Norton x Eli | Prospector X Seer
Chapter Trigger Warning/s: N/A
Chapter 3
Darkness. Norton opened his eyes only to witness himself surrounded by darkness. The candle on his helmet barely provided light. It didn't do much of a help. However, upon examining his surroundings, he's able to identify his current location. He's inside a tunnel. And it wasn't an ordinary tunnel. This was the site where the tragedy had taken place.
His chest tightened. Suddenly, Norton felt claustrophobic. He's aware that this was merely a dream, but everything seemed real to him. He could feel the rough floor underneath his boots, the way it ground against his sole as he walked. The air felt damp and smelled like mud, like he was inside an unstable man-made cave that could collapse any second due to heavy rain. They were all too familiar sensations to him.
The tunnel seemed to go on endlessly whichever way he went. He tried to keep himself calm despite having a hard time breathing. Panicking would only burn whatever remaining oxygen he had around him. But then again, this was supposedly a dream. Dreams couldn't hurt him.
After a while of walking, the miner began to pick up his pace until he found himself running at full speed as if something sinister was after him. He dared not look back, afraid to confirm his imagination and be devoured by his fear. Running felt like an eternity to him until he tripped over a rock and fell. Or at least that's what he thought it was. He was out of breath, so he could only manage a soundless gasp when he realized that he'd fallen on a pile of decomposing bodies, their foul smell making it harder for him to breathe. Those were the corpses of the miners.
Norton picked himself up, but he slipped and fell as soon as he got up. He staggered back in panic, a scream he never imagined he'd ever make escaping his throat and echoing throughout the lonely tunnel. As he was trying to process everything, the burn scars on his face and body began to hurt as though they were fresh.
"You belong with us, Norton," said a voice in his head, sounding like it came from the abyss. "You should've died with us."
The miner began shaking, his hands gripping his head as if the action would get rid of the voice all the while kicking at the undead corpses that were starting to crawl towards him.
"No! Leave me alone!" he yelled at the top of his lungs, trying to push the bodies off of him. "It was an accident!"
Yes, it's all an accident.
A corpse that had gaping sockets for its eyes managed to get on top of him and sit on his chest, squeezing the remaining air out of his lungs. In its bony hands was a large chunk of stone. It raised the stone in the air and was about to smash it onto his head when he managed to pull himself back to reality and wake up with a strangled scream.
Norton was drenched in sweat, his hair disheveled and his eyes wide in shock. The dream was over, yet his heart still beat so fast that it almost wanted to escape his ribs. Taking a few deep breaths, he ran his hands over his face and looked to the window. The light shone through its heavy white curtains, illuminating the entirety of the room. Somehow it gave him a sense of safety and security. It's good even though it's false.
"Had an eventful night, eh?"
Norton searched for the source of the voice and spotted the same gray-haired male from last night sitting in his bed across from his. He wouldn't have noticed his roommate's presence if he hadn't said anything.
"Who are you again?" the prospector inquired, blinking away his sleepiness.
"Your resident embalmer," the other responded as he secured his gloves. He seemed to be getting ready to leave. "Your teammates for today came over. They said they wanted to eat breakfast with you before the match," he continued. "I'm Aesop, by the way. I prefer working in peace, so I hope you won't be making noises in your sleep again." He stood up and picked up a case from his bedside table. "Norton, right? Stop living in the past. You're attracting Death. Don't make the same mistakes again."
He never left any room for Norton to respond. He walked out as soon as he finished his quick introduction. Norton figured his roommate wasn't a fan of social interaction. Not like it mattered.
Still groggy from his nightmare, the miner didn't want to waste time overanalyzing Aesop's ominous words. He stood up and took a towel from his drawer. A shower would help on clearing his head.
* * *
"Good morning, Mr. Campbell!"
Norton wasn't expecting himself to be invited to a morning tea party when he was told to meet his teammates. There was a stone pavement outside the manor house that led to a large pavilion. A few tables were set up and one of them was occupied by three women wearing fancy clothing. He felt a little underdressed with his dark green button-down and trousers.
The one who greeted him was a brunette wearing a blue hat, a frilly white blouse and a billowy skirt that was just as frilly. Her green eyes shone bright with her cheery smile. Her spirit seemed too high for someone who would be participating in a deadly game.
"Take a seat, please," she invited, standing up from her seat and pulling an empty chair for him, which he found surprising.
So polite. He gladly took the seat and smiled at the expecting faces.
"I'm Emma." She offered her hand and sat down. "And these are Helena and Martha. We'll be your teammates for today."
Norton shook the brunette's hand and scanned the faces of the two other women. One of them was a redhead, wearing a pink hat that resembled a cake with wafer sticks on top of it. Her dress was of the same shade with a mix of pastel green and had frills and ribbons. Overall, Norton had to admit that she's adorable and eye-catching especially when she tried pouring tea into empty air next to a cup in front of her. Hot water was about to spill from the pot when the woman next to her guided her hand in the right direction.
Helena giggled softly. "Oops. Sorry."
Norton didn't notice it earlier; but upon closer look, the girl appeared to have glassy eyes behind her round glasses. She's blind, and the stick that resembled a long lollipop resting against her chair was her cane.
How could a blind person join this game? How could she even decode those machines?
As if sensing his doubt, Emma scooted over and whispered, "Don't worry. Her blindness does not stop her from being an outstanding decoder. She's fast. But, of course, we need to protect her. And that's why we have Martha."
The miner turned his attention to Martha, a well-built woman with a curly side ponytail. Her hair seemed to have been dyed blue to match her clothes. She's wearing a white blouse with frills and a long white pencil skirt with blue stripes. Unlike the two girls, Martha had an air to her that made her different. Perhaps it's the pistol that sat next to her teacup. She seemed to radiate an aura of power and authority. A leader.
Still, Norton wondered why they were all dressed up for a party and why he wasn't given any notice.
"I'll do my best to keep everyone alive." Martha smiled in Helena's way, but the ginger wasn't aware of it. "Especially Helena. We can't lose her, so I'm counting on you to protect her." She faced Norton. "And you. I've heard that you've done a great job on your first match. Don't let us down."
Norton nodded and took a bagel from a woven basket at the center of the table. "I'm not promising anything, but I'll do my best."
He would never promise anything.
Eventually, he started to relax in his seat, enjoying the taste of pastry and sweetened tea. He might as well take his sweet time since he might not be able to get the chance to do it anymore after this.
"Good morning, Mr. Clark! Good morning, Mr. Subedar!" Emma stood up from her seat and waved her hands wildly in the air.
Norton's eyes followed the direction where the cheery girl was looking and found Eli and his grumpy buddy walking their way to the pavilion. Like the girls, they seemed to have received the notice to dress in eye-catching clothing.
Eli was wearing a gold-trimmed robe in a lighter shade of blue. It had patterns that resembled constellations. As if to complement him, Subedar was wearing formal clothes of the same shade. A suit with a hood and ruffles. On top of that, his hair seemed to have been dyed blue as well to match them.
"Aren't they just perfect?" Emma sighed dreamily, her eyes glued to the two men. "I had a chance to be on the same team with them before. They're amazing."
Eli waved back and smiled in their direction momentarily before turning his attention back to Naib. They were headed to a vacant table. Naib didn't seem to like when Norton looked at them as he shot daggers his way and moved to block the view of his partner.
"Hey, Emma." Norton took a sip from his cup. "Who's that guy with Eli?"
He'd already heard about Naib from Eli, but he didn't really know much about him except for the fact that he obviously didn't like Norton.
"That's Mr. Subedar," Emma answered. "He used to be a mercenary from what I've heard. He doesn't really interact with anyone that much except with Mr. Clark. They're always together; so if you want to know more about Mr. Subedar, you may need to ask Mr. Clark himself."
"I see." Norton nodded slowly.
Is he seeing me as a threat to their bond? Now that makes things more interesting.
Two more people joined the two men: William and a woman sitting on his shoulders. She was wearing a headdress that resembled the horns of a goat.
"Is that Fiona?" Norton asked, remembering the name from a conversation he'd heard from the previous night.
Emma nodded. "Ah, yes. Ms. Fiona Gilman."
"She's pretty," the miner commented, studying the woman's features.
Fiona had her red hair tied in a single side braid. She's wearing a purple hood over a black dress that had slits on either side that were too high Norton wondered if she was wearing any underwear. William had to be a saint to be able to endure that.
"Yes, she is," Emma agreed. "Makes us wonder why Mr. Clark still hasn't asked her out yet. We've been rooting for them since both of them get along really well when it comes to mysticism. You should see them when they talk about their gods. It's like we don't exist to them. But it seems like they're not interested in each other. After all, Mr. Subedar is always keeping Mr. Clark to himself."
"I think I understand why," Norton muttered under his breath. "It's not easy to find someone like Eli."
Eli was a gem. And Norton hated that fact.
* * *
Two cipher machines left. The last time Norton encountered someone from his team was when he saw Emma dismantling a rocket chair near a carousel. After that, he never saw any one of them again.
They were at an abandoned theme park. It's a large walled area that was divided in half by a river. Communication was impossible. He only knew that there were only two machines left since he heard multiple popping sounds. As to who the hunter was or where it was, he had no idea.
Inside a large tent, which he assumed to be previously called Circus Hullabaloo because of the sign outside, he was halfway on finishing a machine when tapping sounds caught his attention. He looked up to see that it was Helena limping towards him. Her pastel pink stockings were soaked with blood. There was a clean cut on one of her legs that seemed to have been made by a sharp blade.
"Help," she gasped, catching her breath.
Behind her was a large creature that resembled a large mechanical spider. Its large body was covered with a filthy rag. There were movements from underneath the cloth which made Norton's hair stand on end. Its legs were a combination of ball-jointed doll hands and large metal blades. What made it more hideous was the head that had a face of a marionette doll. It was terrifying.
Norton stepped out of the way when Helena reached her arms out to him. For a moment, he didn't say anything as if he's trying to conceal his presence from the blind girl. He was determined to abandon her; but in the end, he decided to grab her and lift her in his arms. He could've easily left her there, but it would be too cruel to leave a helpless blind girl in danger. He wasn't that remorseless.
One cipher machine popped. One more left. He had a bleeding girl in his arms, and they were both running for their lives.

@mcheang I want a Felix episode AU, where Felix is taken with Marinette but doesn’t really try to go out of his way to see her. And then he meets her cousin
[Send me Felinette prompts!]
......
Marinette Dupain-Cheng, famous child designer.
Her mother was a famed model and her father a gentle baker. It was no surprise that with that encouraging environment surrounded by beautiful clothes that Marinette’s fashion sense bloomed. Her brand, Cheng, skyrocketed when she was barely ten years old.
When Marinette turned thirteen, her father, Tom Dupain, disappeared. Her mother became a recluse and Marinette took it upon herself to heal her broken family.
Her mother was taken to therapy and soon rejoined the modeling world, becoming the sole model for Marinette’s new line, Dupain.
Marinette was a legend, she was graceful, responsible and humble even in the face of success.
And she had been sitting in front of Felix in class for most of the school year.
Felix had to admit, he had had a little crush on Marinette ever since she offered him her umbrella after her first day of school, and the first day Felix became Crimson Spot.
He kept his distance, but there were still times where he found himself abandoning logic to hang out with her, but not to the extent that he could be.
But Marinette’s job as a famous designer did take a toll on her, as she put so much pressure on herself to learn languages, play piano and guitar and be a generally well-rounded human being. It caused her to have to skip some friendly outings.
Today was one of those days.
The whole class had met up to discuss ways to lighten Marinette’s mood on the anniversary of the day her father disappeared.
“What if we sent her videos?” Felix suggested. “Telling her how happy we are to be friends with her.”
“Great idea dude!” Nino elbowed him. “Why don’t you go first?”
A shock of fear ran through him as he snatched the tablet from Nino’s hand. “Why don’t I just record them for now?”
Nino gave him a look, but allowed it and moved on.
Gina Dupain stared down at her granddaughter, sitting next to her daughter-in-law, both of them looking at the statue of her son, singing the little kitten song he had taught them before they left.
She had so desperately wanted to tell them, console themselves with the information that he would return, just as soon as she got the miraculous from those pesky heroes.
She was the ‘villain’ Lady Violet and her darling son was resting under her families home, comatose, because of the peacock miraculous.
She wanted to tell them, to ask them to help her, but she just couldn’t.
Gina walked down the stairs and sat next to them, wrapping her arms around the only family she had left.
The doorbell rang and and they all jolted from their song and they walked to the door just as it opened, revealing a large shadow.
“Papa?” Marinette whispered, stepping forwards.
The figure walked forwards just a little more, revealing him to be Sabine’s brother, Wang.
He stepped aside to reveal a petite girl with deep blue hair tied in a high ponytail.
“Bridgette!” Marinette smiled and launched herself at her cousin. “It’s been so long.”
“It certainly has.” Sabine grabbed her brother by the arm and began chatting with him in Mandarin, a language the whole family was fluent in, thanks to Marinette. “Remember when those two would dress up like each other and you ended up taking Marinette home?”
He chuckled. “I was so easily fooled.”
After Bridgette had successfully detangled herself from her cousin, she glanced at Gina, more specifically, the necklace Gina was wearing.
Gina caught her glance and casually tucked the necklace into her shirt.
“So, sister, I don’t mean to pry, but would you consider giving me the family rings?”
“Of course, Tom’s is somewhere upstairs. Marinette, take Bridgette upstairs and help her get settled.” The four of them went upstairs and Gina was left alone, staring at the ring on her necklace.
That girl better be worth an akuma.
Bridgette scrolled on her phone absentmindedly, as Marinette chattered on about who knows what.
“I’m just so glad you’re here!”
“Yeah... so am I. Anyway, can I take a shower? I feel like I’ve been on that plane forever.”
“Yeah, no problem.”
Bridgette stood up and began walking to the room she gestured to, before she got an idea. She turned slightly, wrapping her arms around Marinette and slipping her phone from her pocket into Bridgette’s.
“Thanks for being here for me, Mari.”
She heard a soft hum and Marinette hugged her back.
“Anytime.”
Once the shower was turned on, Bridgette slid to the floor and started going through Marinette’s phone.
“A superhero crush? Seriously?”
Just as she was about to go onto social media, the phone buzzed with a video message.
“Hey, girl.” A girl in a plaid shirt waved at the camera. “I know you’re probably having a bad time right now, but-“
“Boring.” She deleted it.
“Markov and I have done the research an jokes are statistically proven to improve your mood by ninety-seven percent. So, knock knock?”
“Lame.” She snorted.
“You’re so sweet and kind and considerate and-“
“Wow. Original.”
“Marinette. I know you’re likely going through something right now, and I want to let you know that I’m here for you, because... I adore you. I have for quite some time, ever since you gave me your umbrella that day at school.”
“Pathetic.”
After the last video had been deleted, she leaned her head back against the wall.
So the little princess has some good friends... not for long.
“Hey Bridgette?” Marinette spike through the door. “I’ve got some stuff in the oven downstairs, mind if I leave you here to go get it?”
“No problem, but do you have any extra clothes I could borrow?”
“Sure thing, I’ve got some in my closet. Take whatever you want.”
She heard the door close and turned off the shower.
First, a little more snooping.
She checked the drawers, computer, and a really smelly cabinet.
“Yuck.” She threw the awful thing on the bed and pushed a pillow on it.
Finally, she opened a drawer and found the biggest stash of hair ties in the world.
Good, now she could put her hair in those insufferable pigtails.
She opened the closet and chose a navy jacket and neatly cuffed jean shorts, along with a white t-shirt.
She pulled out the phone and pressed record, a smile on her face.
“I hope you’re happy, Tikki. Because I am never doing anything again.”
She giggled, floating over his head. “Don’t be so dramatic! I’m sure Marinette will appreciate the confession.”
“During the time she is most vulnerable, another thing to think about is the last thing she needs.”
“Well...” His phone buzzed before she could answer.
“Marinette answered.” He remarked, walking up to the rest of his friends.
“...It only served to make me feel worse! I hate all of you!”
“I can’t look at this.” Alya passed the tablet to Nino.
“How could she say that about us?” Rose whimpered. “I thought we were her friends.”
“Marinette said all of that? Impossible.”
“She did.” Juleka shook her head.
The girl who made sure she was at every rehearsal, every practice, everything she was asked to go to?
“Nino, I really think-“ he was cut off when a cloud of violet attacked his three classmates, transforming them into their former akumatized selves.
“He’s not ‘Nino’ anymore.” Reflecta spoke, transforming Alya into a carbon copy of her.
“I’m Bubbler now.” He swung the tablet-shaped wand in the air, deadly bubbles pouring out.
“One of the three Punishers!” Princess Fragrance remarked with glee, a familiar toxic cloud pouring from her gun.
Felix gulped in a breath of air, barely muttering “Spots on” as he dove into the water.
It can’t be an akuma, maybe a sentimonster?
He threw his yo-yo out, swinging after the three punishers, hoping to save the true Marinette and get some answers.
“I made cookies!” Marinette sang, opening her door with the tray. “It’s been so long, I can’t remember what your favorite is, so I went with an old classic; chocolate chip!”
She stopped dead in her tracks as she saw Bridgette rocket off of her office chair, hair in pigtails.
“Whatcha doing, Bridge?”
“Well...”
“Marinette!” Her mother barged in. “Akumas, get the both of you to the bunker!”
“Too late.” Reflekta walked in, accompanied by Bubbler and Princess Fragrance.
“Dude, which one’s the real Mari?” Bubbler whispered.
Marinette glanced at Bridgette. She needed to transform before anyone got hurt.
“It is I! The cruel Marinette!” She cackled, relishing in the concerned and confused look on Bridgette’s face. “You’ll never take me alive!” She dashed out of the door.
Once she had made it into a secure hallway, Plagg flew out of her pocket.
“So, I know you’re against using cataclysm on a person but...”
“No, Plagg.”
“She smushed my cheese!”
“I’ll get you more cheese, now come on, claws out.”
She felt the familiar magic leather clothe her and jumped out a window, eyes landing on the familiar red bug in the distance.
Felix swung into the room, grabbing Marinette and swinging her out and onto the roof of the nearest hotel.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know!” Her eyes were wide and innocent; Felix felt his composure slipping.
“Well, if you don’t have any information, just stay here and hide; I’ll deal with the akuma.”
He turned to leave.
“Wait! Crimson Spot!” She grabbed his arm and Felix swallowed.
“Yes?”
She started walking and Felix stepped backwards in an attempt to preserve personal space.
“How ‘bout a little extra courage?” His back bumped against the wall and he stood, frozen, as he watched the girl he had adored from afar lean closer.
“That won’t be necessary.” He tried to gently push her away, but she persisted, her lips mere millimeters from his.
Something within him burned red and snapped. He crouched low and swept his right foot in a circle, knocking her to the ground.
“You’re either an imposter or a sentimonster, because Marinette certainly understands that no means no.”
“That’s Bridgette,” Catastropheline landed gently on her toes, not making eye contact with Crimson. “Marinette’s cousin. I ran into her and she told about the... situation.”
She glanced at Bridgette, who was backing away ever so slightly.
“It must be difficult keeping what few friends you have with you acting like that, huh?”
“If she’s not a sentimonster, then we need to stop wasting time and find the akuma.” He threw his yo-yo into the air and a small can of whipped cream fell into his hand.
“As always, Tikki.” He groaned.
“Cataclysm.” Darkness collected over Catastropheline’s palm just as three thumps sounded around them.
“I wouldn’t if I was you, kitty.” Refleckta had her brooch aimed at the dark clothed hero’s heart.
“I usually prefer my servants to wear pink,“Princess Fragrance twirled her gun around, “but I suppose red would do.”
“And if that’s not enough, I’ll send you both on a one way flight to the sun if you so much as move.”
“Crimson.” His partner spoke from beside him. “Do you have a plan?”
Before he could deliver the depressing answer, a shout turned them both to Bubbler, who was clutching his hand with Bridgette in front of them, holding the tablet.
“Good! Bridgette, break the wand now! Then this torture can be over.”
“Oh, I don’t want it to be over. I’m just switching the roles.” She smirked before she held up the rectangular wand. “Lady Violet! Are you listening? I can help you; all I need in return is a certain piece of jewelry.”
“Get the miraculous first, and I’ll consider it.” Bubbler growled, holding out his hand for the wand.
She grinned wider. “With pleasure.”
She tossed the wand to Bubbler and started running towards the superhero pair.
“Feline, batter up.” Was all he said as he launched his can into the air.
Even without the use of her ring-bearing hand, she swung her baton effortlessly, slamming it into the can.
It fell just ahead of Bridgette’s feet, and she stepped on it haphazardly, tripping and sending it into Bubbler’s face.
The wand flew through the air and started its decent to the pavement.
“Crimson! Go!”
“What about-“ He glanced at the imposter who had stood up and was moving towards him, only to see a metal baton slam into her abdomen.
He took in the two Punishers struggling in the pool and dashed to the side of the building, jumping off.
He landed directly on top of the bubble wand and heard the reassuring snap of broken plastic.
He purified the akuma swiftly and launched the battered can of whipped cream that had landed beside the wand, into the air with a shout of “Miraculous Ladybug.”
He swung back up as the cure swept the streets and landed beside Catastrophiline, who was helping Rose out the door.
“Pound it?”
She grinned and attempted to step over to him but ended up tripping over her own baton and, in a series of impressive acrobatics, landing on her face in front of Crimson Spot.
He chuckled and held out his hand. “I’d just begun to think you’d grown out of that.”
“Well, old habits hie dard, I mean, die hard.” She sprung to her feet with a sheepish grin, twirling the leather straps holding her pigtails in place.
They pressed their fists together and left, a screaming Bridgette still on the roof.
“... I just want you to know, Mari, that I am so sorry. I just... I was jealous that my father named his famed Celestial soup after you, and not me.” Bridgette, back in her own clothes looked down.
“What are you talking about?” Wang looked down at his daughter. “I’ve named so many of my dishes after you. My Angelic stew, to name one.”
“What?” She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. “I thought...”
“If every dish I wanted to name after you was called ‘Bridgette,’ people would get confused.” He explained, pulling her into his arms. “If only I had noticed, I could have explained.”
“It’s okay, Papa. I overreacted.” She spared another glance at her father, then turned to her extended family.
“I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me, after all the strife I caused.”
Marinette was the first to hug her, whispering a soft apology.
Sabine joined next, until it was just Gina standing beside the group hug with a hand on Bridgette’s shoulder.
She felt a slight tug and was pulled deep into the hug. The tension seemed to melt from her body and Gina allowed herself to feel content.
Bridgette was the first to pull out of the embrace.
“Thank you all, for forgiving me so quickly.”
“Of course.” Marinette grinned.
“You’re welcome back anytime.” Sabine added. “And, brother, I’ll call you if I ever find Tom’s ring.”
“I’d appreciate it.”
The two entered a black vehicle and drove off, Bridgette still waving through the window.
“Hey guys! I’m really sorry, but I wasn’t able to see your videos. It really warms my heart that you were thinking of me today, though. I want you to know that I love you. All of you.”
Marinette’s beaming face filled the screen as Felix watched the video again and again.
“She’s so considerate.” He sighed.
“Yeah, considering all that just happened with her cousin.” Tikki remarked. “It’s too bad she didn’t see your confession, though.”
“It’s probably all for the best. However, that Bridgette girl may prove to be an issue.”
“Yeah, working with Hawkmoth and his akumas all on her own, it’s kind of scary. I wonder what could be worth that?”
“It’s truly a pity that Sabine couldn’t find the second ring.” Wang sat down next to Bridgette, allowing her a window seat on the train.
“You mean this one?” Bridgette pulled a chain from her pocket and displayed the ring adorning it.
“Yes, Bridgette, that’s it!” He stared at the ring, transfixed for a moment, before hugging his daughter. “My little magician, always saving the day at the last minute.”
Bridgette smiled and, as her father turned to slip the ring in with its partner, turned to the window, her innocent features twisting into a cruel smirk.
It really was a shame their trip was cut so short. She could have had a lot of fun in Paris.

Might As Well Face It, You’re Addicted To Love: Chapter 5
Ooooooh we’re almost there!! First, though, meet the gang.
AO3 link here
Chapters: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 [here] / ?
Jax
Jax sighed in satisfaction as he finally finished drying his hair. The upkeep was obnoxious, but you couldn’t argue with the results; few others could lay claim to a meter of silver hair. It felt nice to be showered, dried, and in fresh clothes. He could finally find some peace.
“Jax! Hurry up!” Ana called, banging on his door. Jax sighed again. Oh well, peace was overrated anyway.
“I’m coming!” He yelled back. Easy for her to rush him with a puppy following her around and helping her get ready. Jax tied his hair into a quick ponytail and grabbed the duffel of show-prep stuff he’d pre-packed.
He opened his door to find Di hurrying down the hallway saying, “Ana, you did not let me finish!” Maybe calling Di a puppy was harsh, but he wouldn’t if he didn’t look at Ana with those big old eyes of his.
Jax followed them down the hall and a set of stairs into the kitchen. Ana stood still for once in her life – as still as she could, anyway, a toe tapping away to some unheard song – as Di finished her braid. Ana wore her black hair in a long braid down the middle of her head, the rest of it shaved. She said it was because it was punk, but Jax knew it was for convenience’s sake. She had golden-brown eyes set into a heart-shaped face and warm bronze skin. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, which was typically a sign of either a show or trouble. Sometimes both.
Di stood behind her being the physical embodiment of all the patience Ana lacked as he carefully finished off her braid. He was pale and tall, recently grown from being gangly to actually fitting his height. His blood-red hair was currently tied in a knot, but it typically had a mind of its own, falling down around his sharp face. Paired with his dark brows and dark eyes he had a very serious look to him, but Jax had seen him cry over a video of a small robot being, “too cute,” so his reputation in that area was ruined already.
Riggs and Wick were playing a game of cards at the kitchen table. They were on the older side and rarely came to gigs – Wick’s hearing was bad enough anyway, and if Wick wasn’t going neither was Riggs – but they both always saw them off and welcomed them home. Riggs was gruff and permanently skinny with scratchy gray stubble decorating his chin. He had lost his family and his leg in a bad accident a long time ago. Once or twice he’d shown Jax a picture of his family he kept on a locket, two happy looking kids, a beautiful wife, and him. Jax didn’t know nearly as much history about Wick, dark brown skin saggy in that way old men got with gray dreadlocks pulled into a ponytail behind him, but he had all sorts of tall tales to tell and was the one to teach him guitar, so really what other history could matter?
Talle, short with black, pixie cut hair, was cleaning up some pots and pans at the sink. She wasn’t as old as Riggs and Wick, but she did have the start of crows’ feet and smile lines etched into her face.  “Hey, Jax!” she called, then pointed to a stack of plastic Tupperware in bags that held their dinners for the evening, “Can you take these out to the van?”
“Sure thing,” Jax answered, securing his duffel on his shoulder so he could hold the bags in his hands.
He was about to consider how to juggle the bags and the approaching door when the door opened itself, or rather Lenda opened it from the other side. She was a couple years older than him and squarely built with old scars from time spent in fighting rings adorning her arms like trophies well-won. Her brownish-blonde hair hung around shoulder length and framed her narrow brown eyes, and her skin was tawny with rose undertones.
“Oh, hey, let me take one of those for you,” she offered, and Jax handed her one of the bags in his hands. Before heading back out she called into the kitchen, “Hey, Ana! Siege says that if you want your drum kit, you better come and put it in the van yourself!”
“Coming!” Ana said, and the three of them walked through to the open garage and the van parked outside it currently being loaded up.
“There you are, Sparkles!” Elara greeted. She was short and curvy with short-cropped silver hair in a style that on anyone else Jax would refer to as “soccer mom” but on her simply made her black-eyeliner-and-lipstick look more dramatic. Her wide eyes were violet, and her skin was apricot compared to Jax’s too-often-mistaken-as-a-ghost white. She was helping Xu, her partner, pack up some of the equipment. Xu was tall with high cheekbones, dark eyes, and tanned skin. They kept their black hair long and didn’t typically style it except when Elara would take it upon herself to braid it this way and that. They were a quiet person for the most part, which was good since Elara talked enough for the two of them.
“’Bout time you two beauty queens got yourselves down here,” Siege said. Siege wasn’t particularly tall, but she stood in a way that made you think she was. She filled a room and commanded respect wherever she went. Her eyes were a sharp stone-green and she wore her black curly hair large and filled with pieces wrapped in golden thread.
Siege’s job was not a topic to be discussed, but if it were to be discussed it may err a bit on the, as some might put it, illegitimate side of odd jobs. The house was largely a boarding house for her crew, a group that waxed and waned as needed. Riggs and Wick had been with her and Talle for forever, Lenda and Barger were newer additions, and there were plenty of people who had stayed for as little as a night and as long as years before moving on.
It was an interesting place to grow up, especially compared to Jax’s previous living arrangements, but he thought he, Ana, and Di came out no worse for it. After all, they’re all well fed, educated – Di was studying to be a doctor for goddess’ sake – and Siege and Talle have always been there when they needed them. Like when Ana decided she wanted to start a band; Siege may have sighed about it and certainly set some ground rules, but she never missed a show, let Ana use the van, and was the one to even get her the drum set in the first place.
“Sorry, Captain,” Jax said, getting his duffel and the food into the van and then going to help the others, “But you know my good looks are he only thing keeping the fans coming.”
“Ah, yes,” Di said dryly, having followed Ana out (definitely a puppy), “The throngs of fans shouting your name. Plus, all 13 of our Instagram followers.”
“53,” Xu corrected, being the one that actually did most of the managing of the account.
“Wow, is it actually that many?” Ana asked.
“Yes,” Xu answered, “With an average of 16.3 likes and 1.8 comments per post.”
That wasn’t very much. The band they were opening for had something like 20,000 followers and, you know, enough to fans to be able to justify holding their own concert with an opener. Ana didn’t believe in small milestones, though. Anything that was forward movement counted as victory in her book. That kind of aggressively positive outlook was a big part of what made this all work. If Jax was honest, had anyone else asked him to join a band he would have simply said no. When Ana asked, though, he couldn’t imagine letting someone else play guitar in his best friend’s band. He was certainly glad for it now; it was one of the only things he looks forward to anymore.
As he helped pack, Jax went through a mental checklist of everything. Once this was all done, Siege, Talle, Di, and Ana would take the van and he would drive Lenda, Elara, Xu, and Barger in a separate vehicle – turns out a drum set and audio equipment take up passenger space, go figure.
“Has anyone figured out where the fuck Barger is?” Jax asked. He’d almost forgotten about the irritable and irritating man.
“When’s the last time you saw the old fart?” Elara asked.
“I have not seen him in three days and 20-some hours, since practice on Monday,” Di answered, always so precise.
“Me neither,” Ana chipped in.
“I think I saw him like 2 AM Tuesday?” Lenda said, “I was just up for a glass of water, don’t remember it much.” Barger technically lived with them, but he kept odd hours and went out often, so it wasn’t unusual to not see him for a few days.
“Hasn’t been responsive to Talle or I,” Siege said, the look on her face serious, “I’ve called around. With any hope he’ll show up at the venue.”
Not answering when the captain called? Jax would not like to be in Barger’s shoes. The man better be dead, else he’ll be wishing he were soon.
At this point, it was a bit late to worry about Barger showing. They were lucky to get booked as an opener and would be stupid to give up this opportunity, even if their songs would sound off without a bass. Maybe Di could save their asses with his synths or something.
Whatever happened, though, Jax was determined to have a good time. He was going to go on stage, play with his friends, get some applause – even if it was simply polite applause – and this awful day and that awful boy and his awful boss would be behind him, completely forgotten.

**********
Tumblr media
**********
It has been 6 days since Steve has asked you to be his TA. Since then the two of you have gotten significantly closer. you’re starting to see him as a friend and he couldn’t be happier with that progress. Going from small talk to full blown conversations. He walks you home too, you don’t even go to the library anymore. Opting to stay and work in his presence.
He has been able to keep his desires in check. So far.
**********
You woke up with your alarm, 6:00am. You decided to take the early shift so you can manage the classes you now go to. Every Tuesday and Thursday you stay in Steve’s classroom from 12pm-10pm the first two classes are back to back, then the third class you participate in then the fourth is the last class of the day.
You’ve also been staying till dark to do your school work, Steve said he doesn’t mind you working in the office with him so your basically all caught up in everything. Even coming in Wednesday’s go help him prepare anything he needs, when he is all done he helps you with homework.
It was really nice of him to offer you this “job”, because of it you are getting great grades in your classes. You just needed his little push.
You get up without hitting snooze, hardest thing to do. Rushing to shower and get dressed. You left your makeup at work in the office so you’ll just get there early and do you’re make up there.
You decided on a black and white corduroy skirt and a black long sleeve. A pair of dark grey knee high boots to go with it.
You’re out of the apartment at 6:15, completely ready, even carrying your purse, wallet, and some tampons cause you know it’s coming up one of these days. Even your laptop and flash drive to work on your thesis. Barely anybody comes in before 7:30.
Opening isn’t so bad, you just weren’t a morning person. Luckily you work at a coffee shop. The walk was quiet, peaceful, the smell of dew on the grass is calming. A kinda slow pace so you can enjoy the morning in your way to the coffee shop.
You think back to Steve. Not Mr.Rogers. You remember the conversation of him acting you to call him Steve.
“—it makes me feel old when I get called Mr.Rogers.”
You giggled, “But you are old, weren’t you born in 1920?”
“1918, but yeah you’re right, but I should say it makes me feel like a crotchety old man.”
“Ok... Steve. Only cause you’re not crotchety. Yet.”
He smiled at you, “Thank you?” Unsure of how to respond.
You smile at the memory, kinda realizing your slowly growing crush on him. Too deep in thought to notice the figure behind you.
Passing by an alley, you suddenly feel a pain of hands pull you into the alley.
“Give me your purse and nobody needs to get hurt. ‘Kay pretty girl?”
“No! Get away from me.” You tried to back up, on key managing to get youself further into the corner he put you.
He brandished a knife, “Yenno you could’ve made this easier on yourself, darlin’.”
You bring the strap over your shoulder, “Fine, then take it!” You say loudly hoping someone will hear, then toss the bag to the other side of the alley.
He looked at the bag then kept creeping towards you, “Since ya caused me so much trouble, I think I deserve a little somethin’ extra.” He kept walking towards you.
You begin to panick but you couldn’t move, why can’t you move? He has his hands on you, you try pushing him off, finally regaining control of your limbs but it’s too late. He’s too strong.
You scream. “HELP! WA—” you were cut off by his filthy hand covering your mouth. You claw at his arm trying to get it off, but he uses his elbow to pin your to the wall, his bone digging into you. No doubt leaving bruises. The other arm stuck behind you in the corner.
“Shh now darlin, don’t want anybody interrupting us, now do we?”
He drags the blade from your cheek bone to your jaw, and it’s very sharp, bleeding even though he did it lightly. He licks where he just cut.
“You’re just sweet all over. Can’t wait to feel ya.”
You feel tears coming but you don’t want to give him that satisfaction so you hold them back, and you try to kick him, do anything, but he has you completely pinned. His hand holding the knife goes down and cuts your skirt. You slide down about 4-5 inches so you can bend your legs preventing your skirt from falling further. The brick scraping the back of your head, and your arm staying in the same place causing your shoulder to pop.
“Hey don’t try to get away.” Him emphasizing “away” by pushing you hard against the brick corner. Closer than you already were, another louder pop comes from your shoulder, the force of him slamming you paired with your oddly angled arm caused you pain you haven’t felt before.
You cry out in pain, muffled by his hand.
“Don’t worry girly,” he smiled. “Gonna make you feel all better.” You hadn’t noticed that your skirt had fallen the rest of the way. Leaving your underwear bare. He groped your breast before getting lower. Slightly cutting your belly since he was still holding the knife. Wen he got to your underwear he put the knife between his teeth, and was unbuckling his belt and pants.
That’s when you hear it. You’re about to cry in joy when somebody yells, “Hey! GET OFF HER!” You hear running footsteps get closer.
You see the man holding you down panic. “This is your own fault girly.” And he runs away. You slid down to the ground. You feel a burning in your side. You look down and the knife he had was sticking out, right above your right hipbone. The back of your leg feels warm almost immediately. You’re bleeding. Fast.
You see the man come flying back, and he hit the wall landing in the garbage. Unconscious.
You look up and Steve is running towards you.
“Y/N! Hold on I’ve got you!” He pulls out the knife, you barely feel it. He takes off his jacket and ties it around you, tightly. You just hold onto his arms.
He pulled out his phone, “I need an ambulance a squad car to—” you tune out his voice starting to feel everything.
Your shoulder. The back of your head. You’re face. You’re side. You’re becoming aware that Steve just saved you. You start crying the tears that you wouldn’t let fall before.
“Thank you. Thank you.” You can’t stop saying it as you sink into his arms. He’s hung up now.
“You’re alright. You’re gonna be fine, just listen to me Y/N. You’re going to be just fine.” He held your face in his hands as you start to fall unconscious. “No! Y/N I need you to stay awake for me alright? Y/N?” He strokes your hair. “Y/N? Fuck!”
He picked you up and begins running you towards the opening of the dead end alley. He hears sirens from his left and begins running towards them. “You’re gonna be fine Y/N. I need you to be ok. Ok?”
He spots the ambulance and starts running even faster. They’re stopped in traffic. Damn New York. The driver sees him running and the two responders run to open the back. He placed you in their care, “please make sure she’s okay, please.” Tears trying well in his eyes but he won’t let them. He needs to be angry.
Three cars down is the police, he knows they aren’t going to get there before the man leaves so he runs to the alley. He’s still there laying face down in the trash. He looks around, grabbing your skirt (more what’s left of it) and a purse he recognized as yours.
He grabs the man by the collar of his shirt and starts dragging him in the direction of the police. The man groaning most of the way.
They weren’t any closer than where he left them, ambulance included and his heart aches. His mind thinking the worst now that he knows you’re not getting to the hospital fast enough.
He keeps going the police get out of their vehicle.
“This man tried to rape my student and she is now sitting in that ambulance.” He pointed in your direction, using the hand holding your tattered skirt. “Make him pay.” He tossed him in their backseat, slamming the door.
He runs back to the ambulance, one is back behind the wheel and the other is putting pressure on your wound.
“How far is the nearest hospital?”
“What?” The responder asked, confusion clear in her voice.
“Where is the nearest hospital?” Steve spoke through gritted teeth.
“Three blocks north, and 2 blocks east.” The responder began giving you a makeshift abdominal tourniquet. Steve picks you back up and runs in the direction the woman gave him and began running as fast as he could.
He got there in 5 minutes and rushes into the emergency room.
“Somebody! She’s been stabbed.” Two nurses rush over with a gurney. He laid you down gently on it, and they start wheeling you away. “Her names yn!” He wanted to follow but a security guard stopped him.
“I know you want back there but it’s just doctors last this point. Go to the waiting room.” The guard gave a sympathetic smile, walking him back out to wait.
**********
It’s been nearly 2 hours but it felt like days. He can’t stop staring at his hands. He washed off you blood probably an hour ago when he noticed but he can’t stop staring. So much blood. He can’t help but think back to the past. The war. Everything. This time he lets the tears flow.
“Miss Y/N family?” Steve stood up and immediately went to the doctor.
“Is she alright? Is she awake? How is she doing?” He stumbled out quickly.
“Are you a family member or spouse?”
“family member.”
“Come with me.” They began walking together to you. “She is stable. The knife didn’t hit anything important. Just barely missing her large instestine. The loss of blood however made her go into hypovolemic shock. She has abrasions on the back of her head, and a dislocated shoulder. The cut on her face will not need stitches but may leave a scar. She will need to stay overnight for observation and while she is receiving a transfusion and is on an IV.”
Steve just nods, knowingly as he’s heard this all before while in the initiative.
“She’s also on a lot of pain medications, we believe he may have struck her illiohypogastric nerve. She may feel pain in her lower abdomen and inner thigh until she heals.”
They get to your room and his heart breaks even further. It’s not even noon yet and you look wrecked. Pale. Fragile. He realizes now that he is the only one that knows you’re here.
He digs in your bag for your phone, it’s a fingerprint lock. You’re right here so it’s no problem. He goes to your emergency contacts and calls your roommate and boss. He also noticed no parents in your contacts, but didn’t pay no mind. Both of them didn’t take the news well, but who could blame them. Now all he had to do was wait.
**********
He was just staring at your form in the bed. He should’ve gotten there sooner, he was on his morning run. But he woke up a little late. If he just was in time she wouldn’t be here. He leaned his forehead on the bed, hands clasped together informs of him, nearly touching your leg.
He was almost about to cry again when he felt cold fingers run through his hair. He looked up and saw you smiling down at him sleepily.
“Is this real?” You asked kinda slurred.
“Yeah Y/N. It’s real.” Your hand travels from his hair down to his cheek. He puts his own hand over yours and kissed your palm. He doesn’t think you’ll remember this, you seem too out of it because of the drugs.
He grabs your hand and puts both of his hands around it, trying to warm you up. He can’t drop smiling. You’re ok.
“Oh my god Y/N!” Maria comes running in along with your boss, a short woman with long graying hair. I believe her name is Lottie. They both look as though they’ve been crying. Eyes a little puffy, faces flushed, and with a little blush around the noses.
“Thank god you’re ok!” She gave you a soft hug. Your unoccupied hand going around her. She let go and let your boss hug you.
Steve put your hand on the bed and stands up, “I believe I’m going to go now.” He grabs her bag, “She dropped this in the alley.” He hands Maria the bag, and showed the folded up fabric of your skirt. “And I should bring this to the police.”
He was going to walk out the door when he felt a small hand on his arm. Lottie grabbed him. “Thank you for saving her. Is it too much to ask you what happened?”
“I’m not sure if Y/N would want me telling you, but you seem like you care for her very much.”
He led her out into the hall and closed your door, “I don’t want to upset her by reminding her why she’s here. But I only got there at the end but I was running and I heard struggling down an alley. I went to see what it was and this man had her pinned to the—the wall.” He’s beginning to grow angry again. He clenched his fists. “He has already cut her face and her...” he looks down at the fabric in his hands. “Her skirt... I got there before he did anything.” He sighed feeling tears in his eyes once again, “I don’t know I think I scared him. He stabbed her when he heard me coming.” He kept his head down, talking so quietly due to his shame, the tears freely falling. “He’s with the police now ma’am. I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure he doesn’t get away with this.”
Lottie is crying once more, “Thank you for saving my girl.” She hugged him, catching him off guard. But her being almost 5 feet tall dragged him down till he was halfway kneeling. He hugged back, understanding why you like this woman.
“Now go get him.” She said with such hatred in her voice that he didn’t expect from her.
He nodded, and was on his way.
**********
It didn’t take him long to find the precinct that man was at.
His name is Chester Straite.
He was fuming, opting to walk instead taking a ride in a cab. He hopes it’ll calm him. It doesn’t work though since he just gets kore angry every step that leads to the entrance.
“I need to give a statement. Who is the officer that made the arrest on Chester Straite?”
The receptionist behind the desk typed away on her computer, “That would be Detective White. Here is your visitors pass and his name is on the door.”
“Don’t I have to fill out a visitors form?”
“I’ve done it for you, have a good day Mr.America.” She said in a slight monotone voice.
“Yeah, uh thank you.” He took the pass and walked past her desk, seeing cubicles. Looking at each door. He feels the eyes on him, but he needs to do this. He finds White and knocks, probably too hard, he even startled himself with the strength he used unexpectedly.
The door opened to reveal a short tired man. He sighed and took a step to the side allowing Steve entrance.
“Who are you here for today Captain America.” He groaned out.
“I’m under the impression that you arrested Chester Straite? I am here to give you my statement.” He wondered why the detective was the one to make the arrest. He didn’t remember seeing him at the scene. That didn’t matter though, Steve had already talked to Tony and he’s getting Straite transferred to one of his cops. The kind that cares.
Steve already has a lawyer in mind.
“We will need to move to the interview room, that alright?” It was a question but there is no tone in his voice. He’s burnt out, he can tell.
“Yeah, lead the way.”
They get to the room, he get out his notepad, and Steve prepares himself to tell the story. Hopefully without destroying anything or crying.
**********
Steve wants you to be okay. He knows your awake and you’re healing but he will do anything in his power to make you feel safe again.
Anything.

Three is perfect
~you, Loki and Bucky have a polygamous relationship and one day your coworker finds out and takes advantage of it~
You knew it was weird and looking back you didn’t even know how it happened. How you managed to get both Loki and Bucky. You always were someone who took in injured animals and fixed them up and showed them love. The same thing happened with Loki and Bucky, they were each damaged with their own emotional scars and trauma, and you tried piece by piece to fix them. Eventually your souls got tied together and your bond you had with each of them grew too strong to ignore. You couldn’t pick just one of them. To your surprise they were okay with it, they knew that you loved each of them in your own way, each for different reasons. They also knew that they needed you and a life without you seemed terrifying. They trusted eachother and knew that there was never any competition between them. Most of the time your time was split with them 50/50, due to Loki’s duties on Asgard and Bucky’s missions on Earth. But the times you were all together were rare but enjoyable. But this past week has been different.
Both Loki and Buck were away, it was the first time you had been alone since they entered your life. It was good timing, you had just been picked for a big project at work and you wanted to be able to focus on it with no distractions. You were working on a small team, a team of two. You and John- a male coworker who you didn’t care for. He was crass and rude and borderline perverted. He could creep you out at times, but he did care about the project and was doing a good job. You were sitting in yalls shared office space when Bucky called. You quickly answered.
“Hey baby. I miss you so much.” You could tell that John was eavesdropping so you stood up and took the call outside. You came back in a few minutes later.
“Boyfriend?” John asked with a smirk.
“Yes.” You answered bluntly then got back to work. Not even five minutes later your phone rang again- Loki.
You answered quickly once again.
“I was waiting for your call baby- Bucky called me a few moments ago. I miss you.” Once again you could feel Johns eyes on you so you took the call outside.
You came back in and sat back down at your desk. John came over and leaned against your desk with his arms crossed and he was smirking at you. You’ve seen that smirk before and you didn’t like it.
“Can I help you with something?” You looked up at him.
“I just didn’t think it was true, I didn’t think you the type. I heard the rumors around the office about you having two boyfriends.” He inched closer.
“I don’t think that my personal life is any of your buissness.” You quickly got up and started to throw your stuff into your bag. You turned around to leave and you were pulled back. He had his arms wrapped around you, subsequently trapping you.
“What the fuck do you think you are doing?”
He squeezed his arms tighter around you and he leaned his head down so his mouth was right next to your ear.
“So why do you need two? Are you too big to handle with just one? Your ass and thighs seem like a two man job.” He moved his hands up and down the side of your thighs.
You were frozen in place, this couldn’t be happening. Being touched by someone who wasn’t Loki or Bucky made your stomach turn. You had to get out of there. You remembered the basic self defense move Bucky insisted on teaching you. You threw your head back and hit his nose with the back of your head.
“Son of a bitch!” He yelled out and you were able to free yourself from his grasp. You ran out of your office and you went home. Once you were in the door the full effect of what just happened hit you. You smelled him on your clothes, you ripped your clothes off and got in the shower. You turned the hot water on high and sat on the floor of the shower. Your legs were curled into your chest, your hair hung around your face.
You remembered the way he was touching you and it made you sob. Looking down at your legs you thought back to what he had said. You knew you weren’t skinny, it was just a fact. Your waist was smallish, but your waist down was another issue. Your thighs were big and squishy, and very hard to hide. It was the one thing you were the most insecure about.
Suddenly you heard a whooshing sound and then a slight thud. Fuck. Loki. That was the sound that the bi frost made. He wasn’t supposed to be here, he was supposed to be in Asgard for another week at least. And of all times for him to come.
“Pet where are you?” You could hear him walking towards the bathroom.
“One second!” The footsteps stopped. You took a deep breath of reilef.
“Hurry up love, it’s been too long since I’ve seen you.”
You hurridly dried your hair and wrapped your robe around yourself. Seeing Loki would surley make you feel better. He was sitting on the couch wearing a dark green button up long sleeve and his black pants, it was his favorite midgardian outfit. He heard your footsteps and stood up.
He eyes you up and down, which made you feel a little nervous.
“Well isn’t this a lovely sight to see.”
He reached out and grabbed your hand and kissed it. He was always so gentle and sweet with you. You didn’t realize how much you missed him till now. You couldn’t help it and you put your arms around his wide shoulders and hugged him tight. Letting his warmth and smell envelop you.
“I missed you so much Loki.” It came out shaky but thankfully your words were muffled in his shoulder so he didn’t notice. The embrace lasted for awhile longer then the two of you sat on the couch and Loki told you about his time on Asgard.
In the middle of the conversation he stopped talking and his brows furrowed.
“Wait, it is a Monday, aren’t you supposed to be at work dove?” He looked down at you. You instinctively darted your eyes away. There was no way you could tell him you left work early because your coworker touched you and berated you about your relationship.
“My boss gave me the day off because we have been working so hard on our new project.” You hated lying to him but it was what was best for now, you didn’t need him getting mad and unleashing hell on John, even though he deserved it.
“We?” Loki raised an eyebrow.
“Yea me and my coworker our on a team for it, it’s a lot of work for two people but he is fine when it comes to actual work.”
Loki put his arm around your waist and pulled you closer to him.
“I don’t like the word He in that sentence.” He was pouting. You smiled and rested your head against his shoulder.
Meanwhile :
Bucky had the same idea as Loki and was going to surprise you, he was able to come back early as well. He was currently in the lobby of your office building, he knew you would be getting off for lunch any minute. But after thirty minutes had passed he began to worry, he knew that you never brought your own lunch and you would never eat from the vending machines. He had called you a few times but no answer, He went to the front desk and asked the receptionist to call you down.
“I’m sorry sir but she left early this morning, she seemed upset but when I asked her what was wrong she said everything was fine but that she needed to take the rest of the day off.”
Bucky thanked her and then ran out of the building. He was extremely worried now. He kept on calling your phone, but no luck.
You were in the midst of cooking lunch with Loki when loud banging echoed from your door. Looking through the peephole you could see Bucky, but not just the typical Bucky. He looked disheveled and anxious, he had sweat on his forehead and he was panting. You hurriedly opened the door and he came running in and a look of relief came across on his face. You quickly found yourself in his arms. He was squeezing you so tight. His nose was buried in your hair.
“What’s wrong baby?”
He put his hands on your shoulders and gently pushed you an arms length away. He was peering into your eyes. And you could tell he was mad.
“Why don’t you tell me? I went by your work to surprise you and they told me that you left with no explanation this morning and that you seemed upset. What happened?” His tone was stern. It was at this point when Loki made his presence known.
“I thought you had the day off for a holiday?” Uh oh. Loki’s tone was serious as well. You moved away and turned your back towards them.
“I- I did go into work today, but I left early because I was upset about something. It’s not important what it was, I don’t want to think about it anymore. Can’t we just enjoy this time we have together and not get into it.” You turned and pleaded.
The men made eye contact with eachother and both shook their heads. Loki stood next to your right and Bucky on your left. You could tell both were looking at you.
“You need to tell us what happened. It’s not like you to miss work. You wouldn’t unless something major happened.” Bucky said.
“What happened that was so bad that is possessed you to lie to me?” Loki followed.
There was no use in lying to them now. They wouldn’t stop their questioning till you told them.
You walked over the the couch and took a deep breath.
“My partner on the project found out I was dating two people and he was rude and nasty about it. And then he-“. You stopped yourself from talking because they didn’t need to know that he had touched you inappropriately. You thought about his hands rubbed your thighs and his disgusting scent you smelled when he cornered you. Tears started to form, thankfully Loki and Buck were standing behind the couch.
“Doll, don’t hide anything from us.”
“Really it wasn’t a big deal.” Your voice betrayed you however. And you started to cry. This caused them to rush to your side. Bucky held you while Loki kneeled in front of you.
“Dove what happened.” Loki’s voice was calm and gentle. But his eyes were dark and you could tell that he was furious.
“He suggested that one man couldn’t handle all of me because of my thighs, and then he cornered me and started to touch me. I was so scared.” You were ashamed and you hid your face in your hands.
Buckys hands gently moved your hands out of the way. You could tell it was him because of the cold metal you felt. He turned your head so it was facing him.
“I’m only going to ask this once Doll. Where. Did. He. Touch. You.” You gulped
“He rubbed his hands up and down my thighs, and he grabbed me under my skirt.” Loki’s eyes widened and he looked down at your exposed thighs. You tried to pull your robe down to cover them but he stopped you. He placed his large hands on either side of your outer thigh.
“He touched these? Who is he? I will make him know that these are mine, and that they aren’t to be touched by mere mortals.”
Upon hearing this Bucky cleared his throat.
“Well with one exception.” He rolled his eyes, Bucky nodded and placed his metal hand on your inner thigh, lightly squeezing it.
“Doll you know how crazy your legs make me, the fact that that prick got to feel them makes me uncontrollably mad. Not to mention the fact he made you suffer through that. I can’t imagine how scared you were.” He kissed the top of your head.
“Now Doll, you need to tell us his name. You need to let us protect you.”
“We won’t do anything unreasonable. He just needs to understand that he is never to touch you again, or even look at you for that matter.”
You sighed, it was pointless to try and hide it from them.
“John Cooper, his office is the one directly to the left of mine. What- what are you gonna do?” You didn’t want to know to be honest but you needed to make sure it wasn’t anything drastic.
Bucky moved his arm around your waist.
“Don’t you worry about that Doll.”
“But-“
“We aren’t leaving your side today.” Loki said, interrupting you.
They kept their promise and that night you slept with either of them on your side.
The next morning you got ready for work and they kissed you goodbye. You were a little nervous about seeing John again, but you knew it would be okay.
You walked into the conference room that you and John worked on the project in, he was 20 minutes late as usual but he sauntered in. His nose was bruised and you couldn’t help but feel a little bit of pride.
“Okay today we need to finish the proposal because we need to do a mock presentation the day after tomorrow.” You typed away on your computer, trying your hardest to not make eye contact with him, even though you could feel his eyes staring.
“Can you go hand this file to Susan please?” You handed the file over to him and he snatched it violently.
“Let’s talk about how you attacked me yesterday. You know I could turn you into corporate. Or....” he stood up and sat down in the chair closest to you.
You had a bad feeling about this, but you decided to stand your ground.
“Ha! You turn me into corporate! You are the one who assaulted me. If anything I should turn you in.”
He leaned a little closer, smirking as he did so. You leaned away.
“Where are your injuries? My face is bruised and you don’t have a mark on you. Do you? Maybe I need to check.” His hand reached toward your skirt and you were frozen.
“Oh dear what is going on here?” You recognized that voice. Loki.
Sure enough he was standing at the door, with Bucky standing beside him crossing his arms.
Bucky was staring daggers at John.
“Dove will you come here please?” Loki beckoned you over and you obeyed. He moved you behind him and Bucky moved to your side.
John’s face had gone pale.
“You... you’re Loki.” He stuttered out.
“You know of me John? That makes this easier for everyone. Y/N is not to be touched, if you do so again, if she ever tells me that you acted inappropriately towards her. Well let’s just say I am not the type to report such incidents. I prefer to deal with it personally.” Loki gave him a smile, but there was a sinister tone behind it.
Bucky switched spots with Loki and leaned down across the table directly in front of John.
“I take it you know who I am?”
John gulped and nodded.
“Do you want to know how many people I have killed John? And trust me those people were a lot stronger than you could ever hope to be. Stay away from her. In fact don’t even look at her.”
Johns face grew pale and he ran out of the room with his tail between his legs.
“That should take care of the problem”
“And if it doesn’t you let us know immediately” Loki finished the sentence.

He said I owed it to him after all he put up with to get me
I met Jason in junior high. We were both new kids and in a lot of the same classes. We bonded over rock n roll music, love bands, and common friends. We had a very tight sibling like bond all through high school and helped each other through break ups and set ups, graduation and teenage antics that ended in suspensions or barely graduating. We were always together unless one of us was dating someone. Everyone assumed we were dating, but we we never did. I was very boy-ish and felt at home with more guy friends than girls friends at that age. We each heard rumors from the others friends the hey, Krystal Jason likes like really he loves you, or hey Jason, Krystal is really showing you the signs man she likes you. We asked each other and admitted crushes here or there it no longer had those feelings and we each had new significant others. After high school I went to college and he moved to be with a new girl and get some work experience. We met up again a at a lodge in the middle of nowhere where we both working for the same company. We were only a few bunks away in employee housing and intrude ex our friends to each other and all hung out for a few weeks. I was not a heavy drinker but I could definitely hold my share of alcohol and have always been able to keep up with boys when it came to drinking games. I had just gotten off my shift and sat down to a campfire with a few friends around to have a drink. Jason gave me wine. He knew I hated wine. But I figured there must not be any beer so I took a few swigs. Wine always hits me hard so I wasn’t surprised when I felt pretty whoozy after the glass was gone. Suddenly I was losing thought and words mid sentence, I could not stand up or hardly sit without assistance. Jason to offered to walk me to my bunk whom I shared with another company roommate. The next thing I knew I woke up with a splitting raging headache, the worst of my life, I felt like I was going to vomit and got up only to notice my shirt was ripped and I was naked from the waist down. I puked right there on the floor. I had no memory of the night before. Zero. None. I knew something had happened but what or with who I had no idea. I was terrified and confided my suspicions on a man that was acting oddly and wouldn’t take no for answer and kept insisting I date him there. I packed my things and left. Still no memories. Years passed and we kept in touch here and there and told each other about our lives and families. Things happened out of my control and I ended up back in my hometown where Jason still lived - so my parents could help me with my children after my divorce. He and his current girl told me how the last girl had accused him of raping her. I didn’t see how that was even possible. He was one of the nicest most trustworthy and “moral” people I knew, especially when it came to treating the women in his life well. He and his current girlfriend fought constantly and ended up breaking up. He then told me how much he loved me and has always loved me and is willing to be a father to my kids and that I have to be in his life we are meant to be together - so many things he said that day. I was overwhelmed. I loved him in a brotherly way, not romantically or sexually. I had no intention of dating him and I tried to gently tell him I did not feel the same and was in fact seeing someone myself. He didn’t freak out, I felt awful for breaking his heart but he said he would rather have me as a friend than not in his life at all and that he would get over it. A few months later things were basically back to normal and he asked me if I wanted to go out and play some pool and have drink. Yes! I love pool. I wasn’t currently dating anyone and he had another breakup so we were discussing how much dating sucks and reminiscing about our childhood and friendship. I drank two beers. I started to feel very dizzy and nauseous and I asked him if he would drive me home he said he needed to stop at his place to let the dogs out first so we did. I had to pee and the second came out of the bathroom he was standing right there blocking my path. The room was starting to half spin and I felt weak. My legs began to go numb as they had before a few years ago. I managed to shout “you?!! You? YOU!!!” At him and swiped at his face but my legs gave out and he laughed. The next thing I remember I was face down on his bed with him raping me, half naked just like a few years before, and him yelling in my ear “ I told you, we belong together” and then I said “stop it please you’re hurting me” And that’s when he got angry and shouted about who was really the one hurt and the last thing I can remember is him saying “I deserve this you aren’t going anywhere because I deserve you. You can’t tell me no anymore”. Then the next thing I remember was waking up naked from the waist down and had the same splitting headache as before vague almost dreamlike memories and as I realized what was happening and had happened I vomited on his bed. I couldn’t believe it. He was my best friend. He was such a good person how?? Why? Because I declined his advances to date me he drugged me and raped me. Probably twice. Once I am certain of. I acted like I had no memory of the events of the night before and tried to apologize for the vomit on his bed. I just wanted the hell out of there without him knowing I knew. I collected myself and my things and I got into my car and drove up the street before I started sobbing. I lost my best friend. That girl wasn’t lying, he did rape her just he raped me. I knew that now. Her story is almost exactly like mine. I sobbed all the way home, into the shower and back into bed where I sobbed myself to sleep. Police? Yea fucking right they don’t take us seriously in the small trash town I lived in at that time. The other girl went to police with DNA and stated she knew the attacker. The captain told her she was probably just too drunk or high and didn’t remember what really happened. He sent her home!! Nothing happens. No cares there. There was no way I was going to the cops. I cut all ties with Jason immediately changed my number and moved out of state. I’ve never been able to tell anyone other my best friend what happened. I’m looked at as damaged or that I deserve it. It’s easier to keep it to myself. Rape. I got raped because I refused the sexual advances and declined to date a man I had know for more than half my life at that time. When I refused a mans advances, he drugged and raped me. I didn’t even think of informing law enforcement in that town. They didn’t care about women “starting trouble” and “misunderstanding or not clearly recalling” the night before when they do ask for help after being raped. So because of the way women are treated when they do report a rape, a crime, to the police is deterring any other woman from reporting her rape in that town.Very sad, but I’m not going to be the one to stay and try to fix it. I moved on and out of there.

Chapter 3 : You free tonight?
Last week was kind of a mess. Krista believed us and didn’t stir up any more trouble. Anyway, I think the incident kind of broke her spirit for now cause apparently, she doesn’t feel like going to the dance anymore. But there was a lot of unnecessary drama and shit. So, I’m really looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
The guilt will eventually creep in but for now, I’m just really glad that there’s one less competition.
6 days left till the dance.
I’m not even sure that I’ll be going to this thing though, honestly. It’s very complicated. I mean, I want to go but only with Eren. And I’m not fucking confessing to my crush.  God, it’s so embarrassing just thinking about it. And I go all gooey once I see him. Assuming that I ask him out, what if I go gooey while we’re dancing? Oh shit, I just realised. I can’t even fucking dance.
This is just too much. I’m just gonna go and take a nap.
 Tring~ Tring~
“Huh? Wa-?” I shot up, my mind hazed and clouded. I felt like a dehydrated zombie, which is why you should never take afternoon naps. “Mom! Someone’s calling!” I managed to shout, despite my sore throat.
Tring~ Tring~
A muffled voice came from the next room, “Pick it up for me, will you, hon? Mommy’s in the shower.”
I stumbled out of my bed and literally rolled down the stairs when I tripped on the blanket I wrapped myself with.
“Ouch!” I winced when my head banged against the floor on the last step.
I could distinctly hear mom saying, “Are you okay, Levi?” Yeah, sure.
I picked up the phone and rubbed my eyes, mumbling sheepishly, “Ah…hello… thi- this’… Levi.”
I could hear some sort of muffled voices on the other end and someone whisper-shouting, “Quiet! Quiet! Shhh!”
Honestly, I’m too tired to deal with Isabel and her bullshit. So, I was about to put it back on the holder before-
“Uh!...-uhm h-hey Levi, It’s Eren.”
I could hear someone on his side mimicking him, “IT’S EREN!!” And then sounds of hitting each other.
“Oh Isabel, fuck you.”
“No no, it is me! Eren!! We sit together in some of the classes, remember?” the person on the other end quipped.
I looked at the caller ID. And my eyes literally went from half dead to shot alive. I could literally feel my stomach drop-     ‘Jaeger’
“Levi? Are you still there?”
In response, I giggled out, “Uh-huh, nyyesss~?” Oh my fucking god, I giggled. I giggled. What’s wrong with mmeeee????
“Oh, uh. I’m having a party tonight-”
“Dumbass, it’s tomorrow,” someone whispered.
“Ah right, fudge. I’m… having a party on Sturdy- Saturday night. And it’s kind of like a costume party, no biggie. Soo it’s gonna be super cool and I want you there…”
I think he said some more stuff about whether I could come or some shit, but my useless brain just stopped at ‘I want you’.
“What did one beach say to the other? Shore.” I made a gun-click sound with my tongue.
I didn’t wait for his response as I literally smashed the phone into the wall, face fuming. Why am I like this? Why am I like this? Oh god, why the fu-
Mom came down the stairs, “Honey? Why is your face all red? And why are you curled up in the middle of the living room?”
I looked at her distastefully. She probably doesn’t even know I’m gay. Huh, I don’t even know if I’m gay. I dated this girl, Annie for 8 months, which is pretty long for a high-schooler. But it kind of just faded away. We haven’t talked in like forever. Huh, we haven’t even broken up. Eh but I guess it’s kinda implied?
Well, whatever. I yanked out my iPhone from the charger and sped up to my room, making sure to close the door.
“Hanji, you’re not gonna believe this!” I chattered out happily, plopping down on the bed and squishing my pillow.
“No no, wait, don’t tell me. Lemme guess.” I could hear her shuffling through something and then a thud sound.
“What are you even doing?”
Not bothering to answer my question, she asked, “Is it Moblit?” I mentally head banged myself.
Moblit. Moblit. It’s always Moblit with her. What’s up with that? Don’t get me wrong, I love that my friend’s in a relationship but please for the love of God, stop. Even I don’t talk that much about Ere- wait, nevermind.
“No, it’s about Eren.”
She hummed, “Did he refuse?”
“What? The fuck, no, Hanji, he didn’t refuse-”
“Gee, alright, don’t get so worked up.”
It’s so hard to not yell at her sometimes.
Taking a large patient breath, I said, “He asked me to come to his costume party tomorrow night. At his house!”
“Whoa, holy shit. Hold up, Levi. I’m coming over.”
And that’s how we ended up in my room. She brought along Petra and Erwin and much to my horror, she brought Armin along. We were actually supposed to discuss my costume but having that blonde brat there made it so damn suffocating, especially since he is Eren’s best friend.
Dragging Hanji into a room, I hissed, “Why did you bring that moron?!”
Hanji viciously hissed back, “What was I supposed to do, huh, Levi? Erwin was making out with him when I climbed to his window.”
Swallowing back my vomit, I gagged, “Ew, don’t tell me that.”
We were spitting out hurtful insults at each other (you know, just like friends do) when Armin came up to us, smiling sweetly, “Can I get refill on the tea? It tastes amazing.”
Hanji and I looked at him for like a full minute before I moved, “Yeah, sure.” He isn’t a bad kid really but now, whenever I look at him, I see a very disturbing mental image of Erwin giving it to him hard. Gag. I led him into the kitchen and poured out another cup of tea. Armin sat on one of the chairs near the kitchen island.
“Eren expects you at the party, you know.” Slip. Crash.
“Jesus! Shit- W-what did you say?” I tried to play it cool as I mopped up the spilled boiling tea carefully.
“He doesn’t invite a lot of people. Well, not directly.”
I hummed positively in response as I handed him his tea. A million thoughts were processing through my head and every one of them had Armin as my very supportive wingman. After all, he is Eren’s best friend. I wanted to ask him so many things. I just couldn’t figure out how to bring it up. I wanted to ask mainly about stuff like ‘What does Eren say about me?’ ‘Have you, by chance, seen his-’
“So, what are you wearing?”
A bulb went off in my head and I almost wanted to French make out with Armin, “Oh, I don’t know…um… what.. what does he like?”
Armin scratched his head, not suspecting even a tiny thing, “He likes lots of things. Mainly stuff like superheroes, cars, transformers…” He laughed out lightly, “You know, everything a 10-year old would like, haha.”
I pretended to smile and pressured him more, “Any idea what he’s wearing?”
“A cop, I heard. He thinks it’s cool, protecting stuff.”
I smiled. Handcuffs. Dear god, I’m so fucking gay.
“He likes cute things though. You know, small, tiny and cute?” He made a gesture with his hand as if to signal I’m short.
I cocked an eyebrow and growled, “What? You calling me tiny?”
I could see Armin was starting to panic when Erwin came in, “God, you two were in here so long. What were you talking about?”
I hopped down from the counter and headed up to my room, whispering bitterly into Erwin’s ear as I passed by, “Your tiny dick.”

I sat on my sofa, swimming through dozens of my old Halloween costumes. Most of them were really crappy, to be honest. A coat and a cap (Sherlock Holmes), something greenish (Elves or Peter Pan, I don’t care) and some others. I mean, I like Halloween for the scary movies, not for candy. As a kid, I never liked going trick-or-treating that much. I liked to stay home and mooch off the candies we keep at home. Much to mom’s annoyance.
Hanji came out from my closet wearing a frown, “Don’t you have anything else?”
I looked up from an old magazine, “No.”
“Jeez, you’re fun.”
When I made no reply, Hanji walked over and plopped down next to me on the floor, “Then we’ve to buy something.”
“We?”
Ignoring me, she continued, “Something petite and cute… cute and tiny… hmm”
I listened to her humming for a split second before flipping another page of the magazine. There was a whole page advertisement for a pet shop or something. Flipping to the next page, I sighed, “I wish I could get a rabbit.”
“Say what?”
I grunted nonchalantly in response. Hanji ripped out the book from my hands earning a distraught ‘hey!’ from me.
“This is it!!”
“I was reading that, you know.”
“A bunny!! It’s cute and tiny, with its little nose and you’re so cute and ti-”
I cut her off, “Bunny costumes scream – hey, what’s up? Let’s fuck.”
Hanji winked at me, “For Eren?”
My face steamed to bright red before I screeched, “Shut up!”
And that’s how I ended up ordering a bunny costume from Hanji’s (shady) ‘guy’ or so she calls. Hanji promised me that it wasn’t one of those revealing sexy types. She said it bent more towards the ‘cute’ side, with ears and a fluffy tail.
I don’t know about the ears but I’m cutting off the tail once that thing gets here. I don’t need people wondering if a cloud was attached to my ass all night long. According to what Hanji said, Armin told Hanji that Eren likes people who acts cute in general. So currently, I am revising the habits of the ‘school cutie’ Krista. She sort of bounces her head around, smiles and makes a lot of weird noises. Not creepy ones like I do, but noises like ah’s and oh’s.
I tried practicing my smile. Tried.
The rest of the afternoon, I tried out different looks with myself. The only thing it did was to remind me why I should stick to my style. Then I talked with myself in front of the mirror, you know, for conversational purposes. It was actually really beneficial cause I found out that if I laugh too freely, my eyebrows raise up weirdly and I make noises like a pig. I also found out my eyes look cooler when I apply some eyeliner. At the end, I had everything planed out – how I’ll smile, what to talk about, how to approach Eren and pull off the ‘cute’ rabbit look like a boss.
Hell yeah, I’m the boss.
That night, I lathered my face with some herbal fluid mom made. She said my face will glow like a princess in the morning if I keep it on overnight. Ha, I’m a princess.
I kind of looked like Shrek at the moment though so I Facetimed Hanji. As soon as she picked up, I yelled at the top of my voice, “GET OUT OF MY SWAMP!”
Hanji laughed tensely in return. I looked at the screen for a moment before retorting, “What? Don’t you get it? I have a green face.”
On the other screen, Hanji scratched her head nervously and croaked, “I get it! … hehe… Levi you’ll find this funny…. But umm…”
I stopped goofing around. Taking in a deep breath, I glared at the screen and prepared myself.
“You know that sexy cute bunny costume we ordered?”
“Yeah, the one I paid for. What about it?”
“Well, it came at 6 in the evening today and…”
“That’s great. I’ll pick it up in the morning.”
“Well, it’s not exactly sexy…or high school…ish.”
“What do you mean ‘not high scho-’ Oh my god.”
All the strength left my knees as I gazed upon the monstrosity that Hanji was holding up. I must not have done a great job at hiding my shock because Hanji started looking all worried and she tried to console me, “At least it’s cute. Right? Right?”
She was holding up a motherfucking bright pink rabbit jumpsuit. No, Hanji. It’s not cute.
  ~~oOo~~
Hanji and I spent all morning trying to fix the costume. The measurements were too big and I looked like I was wearing an oversized onesie pyjama that I occasionally use as a sleeping bed. In other words, it looked absolutely horrifying.
I bleached the whole suit and put it in the washer for like, 6 hours. Fortunately, the shocking bright pink colour faded to a soft whitish-pink hue which looked less in-your-face. Mom took care of the rest. But the costume proportions were so wrong she practically sewed the whole thing over.
However, I still had a onesie by the end of the day.
Distraught, I looked at the mirror in vain. My hands felt around the costume and I felt my heart sinking. One of the rabbit ears flopped over to the side while the other stayed upright. The hood fell to my shoulders and the fluffy cloth hung around my tiny frame.
Hanji quipped from the other room, “You look cute, okay? So, stop worrying.”
The party was in an hour. I sighed heavily, my hands patting the giant rabbit ears. I look like a freak. Only my whiskers were on point, drawn on by Hanji.
“Oh, and I’ve been meaning to ask you this since morning.”
I turned away from the mirror and looked at Hanji, “What?”
“Why is your face so damn smooth?”
