Additional Tips:
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to curb hunger, improve satiety, and support overall health. Aim for 8 glasses daily.
Mindful Eating: Pay attention to hunger and fullness cues. Eat slowly and savor your food, avoiding distractions like screens.
Strength Training: Include strength training exercises 2-3 times a week to build muscle mass, which helps burn more calories at rest.
Don't deprive yourself: Allow occasional treats in moderation. A balanced approach promotes long-term success.
Listen to your body: If you feel excessively hungry or fatigued, adjust your calorie intake or consult a doctor/dietitian for personalized guidance.

Sat 6th Jan
Got up nice and early this morning and had the most beautiful winter morning walk with my girl watching the sun come up as we went along! And a bonus rainbow 🌈
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We saw Maggie's friend Boo (an older collie, I think he's like 9 but they love playing together, he barks for her from the other end of the field when he sees us 🥹) We also saw so many deer! They weren't too fazed by us so we got to stand and watch them from a distance before they toodled away
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then had my dress fitting which was sooo lovely and relaxed. When I went to my sister in law's fitting with her, she had gone to this fancy boutique where they made a big fuss over her and it was lovely and felt really special, but I would have hated that myself. So I went to a local seamstress instead, she had this tiny top floor studio in the middle of town that I would never have known even existed and she just said hello, told me to go get my dress on and she put her pins in then told me to take it off again. We chatted away all the time but it was such a relief to not be fussed around. She didn't ask anything about the wedding, about Matt, nothing lol literally just put her pins in, I asked if she would sew me some cups in bc ya girl needs some kind of cleavage on her wedding day and she just laughed and said that would be no problem. I am sooo happy with her tbh. I was only there for 15 minutes! Got the bus halfway home and walked the rest as I had to stop off at the pharmacy, it was nice to be out in the sunshine again. Got home and did a load of housework, took all the Christmas decorations down and put them away in the loft, and put up a couple of pictures I've been meaning to get round to. Had a snack then went upstairs to work out and got a really solid upper body session done! It felt great

Made veggie curry for dinner, now relazing in the bath. Going to read my book in bed and hopefully have a good night's sleep bc I have another busy day lined up tomorrow 😴

If you have a chronic illness and/or disability and you figured out your diagnosis before your doctors did ... This alone is proof that the medical system is failing society.
It's not like watching a game show and the audience feels proud to know the answer before the "expert". Because sometimes the "expert" actually gives up on diagnosing their patients. In this case, if we don't discover our diagnosis, we will be eliminated and/or voted off the island of misfit toys. Despite our best efforts to beat the clock before our round is up the expert will always get accolades, recognition, and the rose for our hard work.
I have multiple rare conditions. Most of which wouldn't have been diagnosed if I didn't suggest it. Yet the doctors are the ones that receive the recognition and money.
If you are like me and you had to fight to get diagnosed properly. Let alone go head-to-head with the panel of experts to survive the next bonus round. You're not alone. The system failed you because it uses medical professionals as gatekeepers of our health.
Don't confuse a patient's lifetime of experience with their conditions for a medical professional's "expertise" of reading about it in a textbook.

a beginners guide to pilates
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎀 what is pilates?
pilates is a form of strength training exercise that focuses on low to medium impact movements to improve muscle tone, stability, endurance, and mobility. pilates also focuses more on the smaller muscles of the body compared to traditional strength or weight training.
🎀 benefits of pilates
including the benefits that exercise generally brings, pilates:
improves mind-body connection and body control
improves active flexibility and mobility
works the core, improving stability
improves coordination and balance
reduces mental and physical stress
works muscles that can be neglected in our daily lives
treats and prevents body pain, including menstrual pain
teaches you how to pair your breath with your body
keeps the joints healthy without putting pressure on them
🎀 where to start
while you can absolutely start with studio or reformer classes, you can also do pilates routines on youtube! i recommend move with nicole and dansique fitness. if you want to get your cardio in as well, i absolutely recommend eleni fit. her workouts are some of the best i’ve ever tried!
🎀 personal tips
keep your core in mind. core strength is a major benefit of pilates because each movement requires at least a mild amount of core work to keep your body stable, so do your best to keep the engagement throughout.
start slow. pilates movements can take a while to fully understand and it can take a while to build the mind-body connection, so don’t push yourself too far in the beginning. your coordination will improve over time!
don’t underestimate it! while the movements are generally slower than other types of exercise, you will work your muscles just as much and in a way they may not have been worked before. sometimes i even find pilates more difficult than hiit or weights!

We need to stop romanticizing exhaustion and burn-out. Society glamorizes working to the point your body gives up. Working yourself until you become sick from it should not be a sign of "a good, committed worker", but a sign of someone who cared too much about everything and everyone but never cared enough about themselves. It's not up to society to make being exhausted as something romantic, because it is in fact a tragedy to lose your health when you aren't able to care for you because you are forced to work more than humanly possible. It's up to society to change the way we attribute worth to people, and to do so based on the fact that we are all human and inherently valuable, that we were born as valuable people, instead of basing people's worth on how much we can work and our productivity levels, and how far we can push ourselves into our jobs.
