Tumblr media
pairing: sugardaddy!xiaojun x reader
words: 4.7k+
summary: stacked with two jobs, tuition bills and rent payments, an opportunity falls into your lap that leaves you wanting more.
genre: fluff, smut
warnings: creampie, breeding kink, semi-public sex, oral sex, degradation, overstimulation
It all started before you hit rock bottom.
When you enrolled in college and decided to study music, your parents refused to pay for your tuition as they had hoped you would pursue law instead. You’ve been passionate about music since you were younger, and financial burdens were not going to hold you back from pursuing your dreams.
You spend most school nights working a low wage job, and switch to a different low wage job on the weekends. You hardly had time to balance studies and work, but in order to make ends meet, you fill your body with caffeine and call it a day.
You’re in the middle of wiping down the counter of the campus’s local ice cream parlor, ignoring the email you received from your landlord minutes ago. It was yet another warning notice to pay last month’s rent, a task you’ve been putting off for weeks.
There’s barely anyone who comes into the shop this late at night on a weekday, only a few who have a midnight craving they have to fulfill. You’re surprised when Doyeon comes barging into the shop at half past midnight, dressed to the nines in her custom Versace gown.
She sighs and throws herself down on one of the parlor chairs. “I feel sick to my stomach. Is it possible for your intestines to hurt so much from champagne?”
You laugh at her. Doyeon was your first friend when you came to campus, and you were blissfully unaware of how wealthy she was until three months into your friendship. Her mother recently remarried and Doyeon despised her stepdad, but she never had any complaints about the money he carried with him. Doyeon’s offered to pay off some of your loans so that you wouldn’t have to work two jobs, but you always turned down her offer. You couldn’t take money from her — you had to have a little bit of pride.
“What happened now? More sleazy old men hitting on you?” You question, leaning over the counter to ask her.
“You know me so well,” she sighs, her curled hair styled perfectly down her shoulders. She removes her heels for a bit so she can breathe. “And Doyoung was complaining the entire time, pissing off my mom. You know how my brother is.”
You’ve met Doyoung once or twice, and he was very similar to Doyeon — confident, smart and not afraid to speak what’s on his mind. Doyoung had a very difficult time adjusting to their mother’s new beau.
“You know what would be nice?” Doyeon asks, eyelashes fluttering at you. “If you come with me next time.”
“You know I can’t,” you decline, moving to check on the tubs of ice cream. “I’m too busy with work and school. Can’t leave for a night of luxury.”
“But you can,” she whines loudly. “Just let me pay your rent for last month and we’ll call it even!”
You roll your eyes. “I hardly call that even, Doyeon.”
She huffs. “Please? I can’t stand to go to another one of these things and listen to those snotty people tell me how lucky I am that my mom found that douchebag. You would make it so much more fun, and save me from a night of torture.”
For the first time, you’re contemplating Doyeon’s offer. You’ve known for a long time now that you’re running low on funds, and you’re scared that if you don’t find a way to pay your landlord, he’ll end up evicting you. Your eyes glance up to meet Doyeon’s, who has her puppy dog gaze turned on.
You sigh. “Just one event. That’s it.”
She squeals, and almost jumps over the counter to hug you.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you, thank you!”
You awkwardly pat her back. “Yeah, yeah.”
Doyeon failed to tell you that the event she was dragging you to would actually take place within a week.
You scrambled to find a dress and how to style your hair, knowing that if you showed up in an off-brand name, you would immediately look like an outcast. Doyeon saved you from the humiliation, shoving you into a Valentino dress that had your eyes rolling out of your head at the price tag. She also hired a hairstylist on the day of to come over and fix you up, which you clearly disagreed on until Doyeon told you it wasn’t up for debate.
And now, here you were, standing in the middle of the most luxurious place you’ve ever stepped foot in. Doyeon leans over to whisper to you while you’re eyeing the waiters and waitresses walking around with trays of champagne.
“Just smile and act like you only care about money.”
She tugs you forward and you try your best to match her pace. A girl approaches you two first, nails wrapped around the stem of her glass. She’s wearing one of the most beautiful gowns you’ve ever seen, a Chanel piece her mother imported for the event.
“Hyojung, you’re way too young to be drinking anything,” Doyeon scolds.
“Calm down, mom. No one’s snitching except you. Who have you brought?”
Doyeon beams and loops her arm through yours. “This is my friend from college.” She gives Hyojung your name and you offer your best smile.
Hyojung returns your grin. “Nice to meet you. Where do your parents work?”
Doyeon opens her mouth to tell Hyojung the truth, but you stop her.
“They own a few chain businesses in our hometown. Nothing too grand,” you inform. Hyojung nods in agreement, eyes darting somewhere else.
“Well, Chanwoo is here. I’m going to get the gossip that he owes me from last time.”
When Hyojung leaves, Doyeon frowns at you. “Why did you lie?” She questions.
You shrug. “I would rather not be a fish out of water here more than I already am. It’s better if people think I’m at least middle class.”
“Okay,” she says slowly. “You know I’m not ashamed of you, right?”
You giggle and pat her cheek. “Of course I know.”
“Finally!” You hear someone exclaim, and you turn to see Doyoung rushing over to the two of you. “Where the hell have you been? Mom’s going to murder you for showing up so late.”
Doyeon rolls her eyes. “Relax. We took a long time getting ready.”
Doyoung smiles gently at you before tugging his sister away. You feel even more awkward, hands folding together as you sway in the middle of the room. The people around you are talking animatedly and you can faintly hear the sound of the violin in the back of the room. You wonder if you should pretend to go to the bathroom or find somewhere to sit-
“Never seen you here before.”
You turn to see a guy your age, dressed in a full Armani suit and Rolex watch shining under the sparkling chandelier. You awkwardly clear your throat.
“Uh, yeah. My friend brought me. Do I look that weird?”
He chuckles, running a hand through his chestnut locks. “You look beautiful. I’ve just been to plenty of these galas before and I’ve pretty much memorized the guest list.”
Your heart lingers on his compliment and you avert your gaze.
“My first one. Are they always like this?”
“Boring, you mean?”
You laugh and he joins in. You swear you feel butterflies frantically flying in your stomach.
“So, what’s your story? Also have rich parents?” You ask.
He nods. “My mother owns half of the city’s major businesses. I’m Xiaojun, by the way.” You give him your name and he smiles, motioning to the back of the room. “Want to talk where it’s a little less loud?”
You agree, smiling and taking his arm as he leads you to the less chatty part of the room. You both sit on a luxurious velvet couch, a piece of furniture that most likely costs more than your entire apartment. Xiaojun hands you a glass of champagne, his smile taking your breath away.
“Tell me a little bit about yourself,” he muses, eyeing you carefully.
You laugh. “Is this a job interview?”
He shrugs. “Could be.”
Your eyebrows furrow at his answer, but you figure rich people were always weird and vague like that. “I go to the same college as Doyeon, and I’m studying music. Not really much to say, I spend most of my time working.”
He nods, and you can’t place what the look in his eye is for.
“Music, that’s interesting. What made you decide to take on such a daunting major?”
“Daunting as in it’s not law or business?” You counter, giving him a look.
He holds his hands up in surrender. “Hey, no judgment here. In my world, I haven’t met anyone who isn’t a law or business major. It’s nice to have a change of scenery.”
He challenges your gaze, and you feel a warmth in your stomach you haven’t felt in months. You jump when you hear the shriek of your name and Doyeon comes charging towards the two of you.
“There you are! Jesus, I had to hear Doyoung fight with my stepdad for almost ten minutes.” Her exasperation turns into surprise when she sees Xiaojun seated next to you. “Oh! Hey, Dejun. Didn’t see you there.”
He offers a smile. “Hi, Doyeon.”
“Do you mind if I pull her away for a bit?” Doyeon asks, but she’s already looped your arm through hers. You slightly protest when she tugs you away from Xiaojun, but you’re immediately distracted by her next question. “What the hell were you doing talking to him? You know what Xiaojun is famous for, right?”
You frown, looking over your shoulder again to see him, watching as his line of sight carefully follows you and Doyeon.
“No, I don’t. He seemed nice. What’s the issue?”
Doyeon rolls her eyes. “He’s a sugar daddy. Always looking for new sugar babies to satisfy him. He’s been blowing through girls like the wind for the past year. He’s not good, and I don’t want you in his company without me.”
You try to process that the man you were just talking to was, in fact, scoping you out to get a potential new sugar baby. You can’t wrap your mind around it, even when Doyeon drags you to the corner of the room, where Doyoung and her stepdad are still fighting.
Your eyes linger on Xiaojun’s table, but he’s already long gone.
“Nice shop you got here.”
You practically jump out of your shoes at the sound of the familiar voice, almost spilling a cup of ice cream down your front. You nearly get whiplash with how fast you spin around, eyes widening at the sight of Xiaojun standing in the middle of the ice cream shop. Your manager, Seojeong, raises an eyebrow at your skittish nature.
“Is there a problem here?” She questions, but you immediately brush her off.
“No, no problem!” You squeak. You immediately rush over the counter and push Xiaojun out of the shop. “Seojeong, I’m taking my 15!”
“Um, okay?”
Once you’ve got Xiaojun on the street, you take notice of what he’s wearing - another dark Armani suit, same Rolex watch, and hair styled in a way that’s meant to make your panties drop. You push back your thoughts and whisper harshly to him.
“I know why you’re here.”
He raises an eyebrow, smirking. “Do you now?”
“Yes, I do,” you state confidently, tilting your chin up. “Doyeon told me about your little sugar daddy scheme.”
He laughs. “Ah, is that what they’re calling it now? Didn’t realize I was such a bad guy for wanting to help out girls in bad situations.”
You scoff. “Do you get off on this? Lowering yourself to the underprivileged lives of the poor? Pretending to be the hero that saves the damsel in distress?”
He snickers at your line of questioning, shoving his hands in his pockets and eyeing you. He leans down so that you’re face to face, and you falter as he becomes closer to you.
“And if I do? What if I like giving you money so you don’t have to work two jobs?”
“How do you know I have two jobs?” You inquire.
“You looked so lost at that gala. I told you I’ve memorized the guest list — you’ve never been on it. It became relatively easy to discover the rest of the details. It must be exhausting doing this everyday, haven’t you ever wanted a break?”
You fold your arms across your chest and take a step away from him. “What’s in it for you?”
He grins. “The pleasure of your company.”
“What kind of company?” You ask, doubting him. You won’t lie and say the offer isn’t intriguing to you. You still have pride, definitely, but the weight of two jobs has really taken a toll on you lately. Plus, Doyeon said Xiaojun breezes through girls anyways. You could get a break from paying your rent for a few months and before you know it, he’ll move onto the next charity case he wants to help out.
There’s no harm in that, right?
Your thoughts are blown through the window, however, when his smirk grows wider. You’re sure there’s a large damp spot in your underwear right now.
“Whatever company you like, little one.”
You’re fucked.
You keep the relationship with Xiaojun quiet and under wraps. You know Doyeon would have many thoughts about your choice, and she would probably convince you to let her pay your bills instead of Xiaojun. You couldn’t place that burden on her shoulders.
Surprisingly, Xiaojun doesn’t ask for much. He swings by the ice cream parlor once a week, drops off a $1000 check, stays to chat for a little, and leaves. Seojeong doesn’t raise any questions, albeit you’ve seen her glance at the envelope you leave in the back room. You would’ve thought that Xiaojun is the type of guy who invites you over to his penthouse apartment to get to know him, but he’s been quite reserved. He never crosses the line with you, and his questioning stays on the topic of your classes and work. You continuously wonder how to captivate his attention and if the other girls before you failed to do so.
About a month into the deal, your patience wears thin. You’re not even really sure why you’re frustrated in the first place. Anyone would love a no strings attached deal like this, getting $1000 every week with barely any commitment. You quit your other job because you don’t need both paychecks now and you’ve been able to keep up on rent. However, a part of you expected to be close with Xiaojun in some way at this point, especially considering the way he was flirting with you when he first propositioned this.
You’re fully prepared to confront him on Friday night, the same day he usually drops off the check and chats with you for a bit. You practically throw yourself over the counter when he takes a step inside the shop, yelling over your shoulder to Seojeong that you’re taking your break.
Xiaojun laughs at your eagerness, allowing you to tug on his suit as you pull him outside.
“Someone’s excited today. Need the check that badly?”
You frown at the accusation and exhale. “No, as a matter of fact, the money you’ve given me so far could probably cover me for a year.”
“Then what’s with the frowny face?”
“There’s a catch here, Xiaojun, I know there is. You’ve been too nice,” you say, waving a finger at him.
He smirks. “Have I been? I told you, little one, all I need is your company. You’ve given that to me every week, haven’t you?”
You scoff. “Barely. We talk for a few minutes while I’m making orders for other customers and then you leave. I would hardly call that company.”
He gets even cockier, if that was humanly possible. Xiaojun has to know what he’s doing to you — the mystery of his true personality starting to make you curious.
Similar to your first meeting, he leans down until he’s a few inches from your face, eyebrow raised. “Didn’t mean to neglect you, little one. Did you want more from me?”
You shift awkwardly, tension building in your stomach from his words. He was clearly teasing you and his patience was stronger than you previously believed. He waited a month just to have you desperate like this, wanting something more than a few minutes of his time. You’re so wet at this point that you’re definitive Xiaojun knows.
To prove your point, his smirk grows wider. “What are you doing after your shift?”
“U-Um, I have some homework to finish-“
“Great, I’ll pick you up after work and you can finish it at my apartment.” He doesn’t give you any time to protest, moving closer to you, his breath hitting the shell of your ear. “Next time, little one, just tell me you need more attention. Daddy will gladly give it to you.”
You’re a nervous wreck when Xiaojun’s expensive Rolls-Royce pulls up to the curb after your shift has ended. His car looks terribly out of place on the streets of your dirty campus, but he doesn’t seem bothered in the slightest. You quickly get in and ask him to go before anyone can recognize you.
The ride to his apartment in the upper part of town is filled with silence, making you even more jittery. Xiaojun, on the other hand, is calm and collected with one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the console. You try to swallow your nerves and reason with yourself.
This is just Xiaojun — son of a multimillionaire, heir to many respective companies within the city. This is just Xiaojun — the man who’s been giving you $1000 every week with no strings attached, the man who’s clouded your dreams for the past month on more than one occasion.
Unfortunately, you don’t have any more time to dwell on your thoughts when Xiaojun pulls up to the parking garage of his complex. The both of you exit the car and he hands the keys to one of the valet drivers. His fingers fall to the small of your back as he guides you inside.
You try to avoid the blatant stares from other residents. You’re still dressed in your work clothes, a simple t-shirt and pair of jeans, but you couldn’t look more like a fish out of water. Xiaojun doesn’t seem to mind, walking into the elevator and pressing the top floor button. You ride the elevator in silence, and your eyes nearly fall out of your head when you reach the penthouse.
The apartment is straight out of the movies. The decor is extravagant, and you’re afraid if you touch anything, you’ll have to pay a fine. Xiaojun leads you to the dining room, pulling out a chair for you, despite your confusion.
“You can finish your homework here. I’ll be in the study upstairs.”
“Wait wait wait,” you stop him, placing a hand on his chest. “You’re leaving?”
He grins. “Did you want me to stay?”
He was really going to make you beg for it. Your eyes narrow and you feel a burst of confidence run through you. You tilt your head up until you’re a few centimeters from his mouth.
“You said Daddy would give me more attention if I asked for it.”
He growls, eyes darkening. Before you know it, he has you pinned to the grand table, staring at you as if you’re his last meal. It’s your turn to smirk as his control snaps, fingers digging into your hips roughly.
“Think it’s fun to test me? The other girls before you were more behaved,” he hisses, eyes wandering to the valley of your breasts.
“But you don’t like that, do you? You like it when they disobey,” you murmur, pulling him closer to you. “You like giving them their punishment.”
Xiaojun’s lips are pressed to yours before you can even fully register what’s going on, his body locking you against the wood. You whimper, hands gripping his forearm to keep steady. It’s messy and frantic, and you can see all of the built up tension starting to show.
“What would Doyeon think of you whoring yourself out for money?” He snickers, making you feel small under his gaze. “I bet she would be so ashamed. Little one gave up her pride for a few thousand dollars?”
You whine. “It’s not like that.”
“But isn’t it?” He questions you, fingers unbuttoning your jeans and sliding them down your legs. You wish you had worn a sexier pair of panties today but Xiaojun seems satisfied nonetheless, snapping the elastic against your skin. “Can’t wait to get a taste of this cunt. That’s what you wanted, isn’t it, little one?”
You probably look pathetic like this — half of your body sprawled across Xiaojun’s dining table, pants around your ankles, and a large wet spot ruining the fabric of your underwear. You pitifully nod in response to his question, eyes locked on the bulge straining against his expensive trousers. He chuckles when he follows your line of sight.
“Hungry?”
You fall into the role so easily. “Yes, Daddy.”
He directs you on your knees, the cold marble floor sending a shiver up your spine. You eagerly watch him unbuckle his belt and exposing his leaking cock for you. The tip is red and angry, demanding to be touched.
“Go ahead, little one. Make Daddy feel good.”
You wrap your mouth around the tip, nearly moaning at the taste of him. You haven’t been intimate with someone in so long and his cock has your mouth watering.
“Good girl,” he soothes, pushing his cock further down your throat. Tears immediately spring into your eyes when he ignores your gag reflex, hands gripping the back of your head as he guided you. “Shh, doing so well for me, little one.”
You allow him to fuck your mouth, trying to brush aside the tears falling down your face and saliva pooling at the sides of your mouth. It’s filthy and you love it — you haven’t been used like this in months and you never realized how much you missed it.
“Your mouth is so perfect, fuck,” he groans. “I’ll pay for anything you want if you stay on your knees like this, all pretty for me.”
You gasp when he lets you breathe, pulling his cock away. He chuckles at you, fingers returning to stroke himself as he watches you regain yourself. He tugs you back on your feet, overlooking your wobbly legs and pushing you into the living room. You’re about to question him on what he’s doing until he’s shoving you up against his glass window. You gaze downwards, seeing a plethora of people passing by on the street and cars honking to one another. It’s a view you only see in the movies, and you know Xiaojun’s eager to fuck you into the fantasy.
His fingers slide into your underwear, breath hot against your neck. “Look at all of them down there, little one. Bet they want to be just like you, fucked so good for everyone to see. Even better when I cum inside you, hm?”
You freeze. “D-Daddy,” you whisper frantically. “I’m not on the pill.”
He’s silent behind your figure before you feel him playing with your folds, your wetness coating his hand.
“Isn’t that nice? What do you think of getting knocked up, little one? This entire place could be yours, you would never have to step foot in that ice cream shop again. All the wealth you never imagined, you could spend all day in bed with me while I stuff you full. You would look so pretty on Daddy’s arm. I wonder how many times we could sneak away from the crowd so I could fuck my cock into you. Wouldn’t that be a dream?”
You gasp, growing wetter by the second. He easily slides a finger into your heat and all common sense is thrown out of the window.
“Please fuck me, Daddy,” you beg. “Please please please. I’ll be good for you, I promise.”
He laughs at your desperation, pushing another digit inside. “Even though you’re not on the pill? How filthy of you, little one.”
It’s sick. You barely know this man but all you want is his cum inside you. You can imagine the headlines now — Millionaire’s Son Gets Poor Girl Pregnant. But you want it. You want it so badly.
You hear the tearing of your panties but you couldn’t give a fuck what happens to them, pushing yourself further into him. He laughs again at you, tip lining up to your entrance.
“Beg for it.”
You cry. “Please, Daddy! I want it, I’ve been so good for you! I’ll let you cum inside me and everyone can watch. I want them to see who I belong to.”
“Fuck,” he growls at your submission. You nearly scream when he pushes into you, his girth bigger and thicker than you’ve ever taken before. On top of that, you haven’t had sex in months and the stretch is almost unbearable. Your head rolls back but Xiaojun grips your chin and forces you to look outside the window. “Look at all those people, little one. They’re about to get a nice show.”
He gives you no time to adjust, thrusting into you like he wants to break you. His fingers tangle into your hair and he pulls roughly, causing you to yelp at the pain. You’re past the point of coherent thinking, Xiaojun’s cock fucking you so good you can barely talk.
“Good, little one?”
“Mmf,” you gurgle, gasping at the force of his movements. You can feel him in your throat, and it’s as if he’s waited all these weeks just to spill his seed into you.
You tumble over the edge when he pinches your clit, whispering the dirtiest confessions into your ear. “Needy whore,” he laughed sinisterly. “Probably can’t go a day without my cock after this. Going to be begging me for it, wanting me all the time now. I can’t wait to take you everywhere and anywhere I please. I’ll buy you so many cute outfits, little one. So many skirts that make it easy for me to slide right inside and fuck you until you’re crying for me.”
You clench around his cock and fall over the edge, your wetness spilling down your thighs.
“Daddy,” you breathlessly hiss, body going limp in his arms.
“You came so much for me, little one. Your slutty cunt is so good for me, isn’t it?”
“Please, Daddy,” you plead. “Please, Daddy. I want to feel your cum.”
“Yeah?” He grunts, the sound of his balls repeatedly slapping against your pussy echoes around the room. “You wanna get pregnant? All baby wants is a big fat cock to stuff her full of cum, hm?”
“Yes, yes, yes,” you cry out, not even caring how pitiful you look at this point. “Want it so badly.”
Your desperation snaps the cord inside of him and he spills every last drop into you. You whimper at the warm feeling, some of his cum starting to drip out and coat the inside of your thighs. You both attempt to catch your breaths, your legs feeling like jelly.
You’re about to move away from him until Xiaojun keeps you pinned to the window, stopping you from leaving.
“W-What are y-you doing?” You ask, still out of breath from the fucking you just received.
“I don’t think that was the one,” he muses, eyes locked on where you two are intertwined. He offers an experimental thrust that has you scrambling.
“No, no,” you sniffle, trying to move away from him again. “I can’t, I can’t.”
“I think you can,” he chuckles, enjoying the way your cunt wraps so nicely around his cock. “And you will. Haven’t gotten you pregnant yet, little one.”
You spend hours fucking like bunnies with Xiaojun taking you on almost every surface of his apartment. You don’t even care that you’re impregnated, allowing him to use you in any way he pleases while the sun falls under the skyline.
Your pride didn’t matter that much anyways.

Warnings: slight story spoilers for episode 5, for Idia’s part, if u squint
Pairings: Dorm Leaders x Reader
I put things under a cut for length!!
Riddle Rosehearts
Riddle would probably want a partner who does well in school - at least someone who tries to! It would go against his own desires to do well in life if he has a partner who doesn’t have the drive to succeed like he does.
He isn’t particularly fond of people who have a lot of potential yet waste it on being lazy. Like I said before, it goes against his own morals.
I also see him wanting someone fun-loving! Riddle grew up in an environment where fun was essentially taboo so he would be drawn like a moth to a flame to someone who has so much energy in them. Remember one of his best childhood friends is Che’nya so he would probably not hate the idea of joking around and being silly once in a while!
Someone who would love sweets like him! Not too often so he could maintain his shape, but someone who would love to indulge him once in a while!
Riddle would love to see an S/O who makes time for him and the unbirthday parties that Heartslabyul hosts! He feels like a good dorm leader and seeing you make an effort to come makes him feel like a great boyfriend too!
“Ah, Y/N, I was afraid you wouldn’t be able to make it today.” Riddle sighed to himself in relief. He feared his rose would come to the party late. “Ah, sorry Riddle! I was late because I was studying for Professor Crewel’s exam but I lost track of time!” You breathed out, a bit exhausted from running.
The redhead only nodded and smiled at you. “Don’t worry about it, my rose. We’ve only just begun the party, so no need to fret.” Riddle’s gentlemanly ways never failed to make your heart soar. “No no, I’ll make it up to you! I’ll bake you a tart sometime, you’ll let me right?” You playfully nudged at your boyfriend’s arm and smirked.
Riddle could only blush furiously. “Th-that would not be a bad idea. I suppose I would accept the gift graciously, dear, but only if we can cook it together. I believe it would be beneficial to both of us to learn!”
Leona Kingscholar
Someone who loves to nap with him like all the time
Leona would definitely want someone who is willing to praise him a lot. Growing up he never really had that and felt like he was overshadowed by his big brother, so this guy needs validation like crazy. Tell him how strong he is, how much you love him, how warm he is… he’ll scoff and look away but you could see the faintest blush on his cheeks. He secretly loves it.
I feel like Leona would like bratty tsunderes, for some reason. He would be the perfect teasing type for them and I think I can just picture Leona and his S/O getting into play fights that lead to something more, if you catch my drift.
Someone who can be “refined” enough for show so that when he brings you home to his family, they can accept you fully. The last thing he wants is his family pestering him about how his potential mate isn’t a good fit.
As tough as he may be he def wants someone at the end of the day to stroke his head and calm him down after a long and stressful day.
“Oi, herbivore, come here and be my pillow.” Leona’s gruff voice broke the silence of his room. He was sitting up on his bed while you studied on his desk. Giggling, you made your way into his bed, crawling over to where he was. Leona pushed your torso down gently and started nuzzling his head on your chest, and you could feel the vibrations coming from his body that was like a low growl. Or was it purring?
“Of course, anything for my big strong boyfriend, the best Magift player in the school, my one and only love~” you endlessly praised him, smiling at him as if he were a rare diamond. Leona only huffed as he wrapped his muscular arms around your form, effectively preventing you from leaving.
“Tch…. Damn right….” Leona mumbled. “Why don’t you tell me more while I start drifting to sleep?” Leona smirked. Running your fingers through his hair carefully, you obliged, feeling Leona’s breathing become more calm as you continued.
Azul Ashengrotto
Azul would ALSO want someone who praises him, due to his years of being bullied. Call him beautiful, smart, tell him he’s the most cunning man on campus. He EATS IT UP. This man will swear on his life for you.
He also would want someone who has the ability to work hard… what? The Mostro Lounge needs extra workers sometimes! Azul thinks that if he can own the lounge, manage contracts, AND study hard for school, his S/O should be able to match him!
I can see Azul absolutely praising/spoiling his S/O too. Since you give him so much happiness in his life he should pay it forward, no? What would you like, a new dress/suit? A new piece of jewelry?
Someone !!! Loyal!!! Azul wants someone who he can feel secure with in a relationship, so he probably wouldn’t want you to flirt with anybody else since his insecurities will SPARK UP like crazy!
Azul wants someone who loves him for who he is, unconditionally!
“Angelfish… hello, good evening. I’m sorry if I am a bit more tired than usual, I just finished with ordering more inventory for the lounge and dealing with some paperwork.” Azul sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. You dropped your bags on one of the chairs of the VIP room and walked over slowly to your octomer boyfriend. Bringing your arms to his shoulders, you slowly begin to knead and massage his arms gently. Azul groaned at the contact, muscles aching.
“How is this, Azul? I know how hard you work, you deserve to take a break too, sometimes…” you spoke gently into his ear, kissing the shell of it. The contact gave him slight goosebumps. “Ah, I would love to but, I have so much more to do… I know it’s going to be a late night for me, so why don’t you head on to sleep?” You tsked, upset with his answer. “I know it’s late Azul, that’s why I’m here. You know, if you keep doing this you’ll get wrinkles, right?”
“Ahem! Well. Then, this might be a good place to stop if that’s the case…” Azul huffed, standing up quickly to retire to his room, you in tow.
Kalim Al-Asim
Kalim wants someone who is cheerful! They may not be a ray of sunshine like he is, but I honestly can’t picture him with someone smug/gloomy. Kalim might be dense but he isn’t THAT stupid. I think he would be able to notice if you were upset which makes him upset.
Someone who is down for anything, Kalim would love to take you on a ride on his magic carpet at random hours of the day so be prepared to drop whatever you’re doing if you want to appease your impulsive boyfriend!
A fun loving person for sure, who isn’t super self conscious about what people think. If he asks you to dance with him he would really love for you to join! He wouldn’t want you to say something like, “oh, but I’m a bad dancer…” Kalim would shake his head and ask you why you would say that! It’s all about having a fun time together, right?
A patient lover is what Kalim would want as well, someone who’s kind, too. At the end of the day when Kalim is ready to sleep after his crazy antics, he wants a partner he can be able to lay next to and feel like himself.
Someone who loves him even if he weren’t rich, Kalim would want someone for their personality and not materialistic things or beauty. Kalim sees someone for their heart ! (*´꒳`*)
You yawned heavily while rubbing your eyes. Was that a tapping noise coming from the window? “Ugh…. What time is it?” Checking your phone, you saw it was 1:30am. You also had a text from Kalim.
*tap tap tap*
You groggily walked over to the window and opened the curtains to see Kalim sitting on his magic carpet with the biggest grin upon seeing you. Opening the window, you giggled lightly. “Good evening Kalim, fancy seeing you here so late.”
“Hi, Y/N!! I woke up and felt bored so, you wanna join me on a night ride around campus?” Kalim practically beamed at you, even this late at night. His smile never failed to make your heart flutter. The boy’s positive energy also transferred to you, effectively waking you up.Stepping onto the carpet from your window was your answer. After getting situated, you kissed Kalim’s cheek and held his hand. “Of course Kalim, I would love to.”
Vil Schoenheit
Someone who can tough out his callous words and treatment. Vil might be a bit much, but the reason why he does this is because he does it with the goal of ultimately helping you. He only wants to see the best out of people, including but not limited to his little sweet potato!
Someone who is patient. He knows he checks who the most beautiful person is quite often and he doesn’t do it to annoy you, it’s just for his own personal validation issues. Lay a hand on his arm, back, or head to give him praises and let him know he’s beautiful to you no matter what.
Someone who is willing to pepper him lightly with kisses (not the face though, he has makeup on!). He definitely eats it up and loves it so much, he feels like you are treating him like a king. He’ll pay that back tenfold and give you beauty treatments, it’ll feel like you’re at the spa on a weekday!
Vil is constantly posting on Magicam, depending on whether you’re comfortable enough to be posted on there he would want to make sure you are okay with him constantly taking photos to be posted on there. Whether it be food you cooked, matching couples outfits, or even pictures of you without makeup, be ready to face comments of all sorts coming from his fans.
“Mira Mira on my phone… Currently, who is the most beautiful of all?” You heard Vil speak outside of his room. Currently you sat on the small chaise at the foot of his bed. Vil told you he needed to step out for a second, so you could get ready for bed now. After putting on your sleeping clothes, Vil finally came back in, seeming more irritated than before. His eyebrows furrowed and his body looked tense.
“Vil, are you alright?” You questioned him as you made your way to his bed, slipping under the covers. Vil only sighed and exchange a quick “Mm.” as he changed into his pajamas and came to join you. He was turned so his back was facing you and he was a bit distant. You knew he didn’t get the answer he wanted when he got those search results back. You didn’t know how to convince your boyfriend otherwise but you decided you needed to talk to him.
“Vil, darling…” you spoke gently as you nuzzled closer, your chest pressing into his back. Your arm wrapped around him to pull him closer, to which he responded with finally relaxing in your touch. “You’re one of the best things that’s happened to me, Vil, I don’t know if you realize how lucky I am to have such a loving, caring, and talented boyfriend like you. Your beauty is simply the cherry on top of the person I fell in love with. To me, you’re perfect. I love you.” You ended your tangent by placing a gentle kiss on his shoulder, dozing off.
You couldn’t see Vil but he trembled lightly as tears silently fell down his face. “Thank you… I love you too, my sweet potato.” Vil whispered into his pillow. With you, he always felt like the most beautiful person.
Idia Shroud
Personality wise, I don’t think Idia would be picky. He’s a shy person and honestly would be surprised he could get an S/O at all! So is Ortho!
Speaking of Ortho, Idia wants someone who is kind and loving to his little brother. Knowing his partner loves his brother would only make him fall for you harder!
Probably someone who would give Idia his own space until he finally felt comfortable and wanted to take it further, he would prob take a few days to even kiss you!!!
Idia wants someone to be his player 2 :) like actually, come over and game with him and he’ll probably be the happiest boy ever.
Big big bonus if you love anime, cosplay, gaming, etc. It’s one thing to be an otaku like Idia but when he has a partner to fully indulge in his interests with?? It’s a win-win situation for everyone! He wants to do a couple cosplay one day if he gets the courage to ask you.
Someone who won’t pressure him too much. If you remember how Riddle pressured Idia into trying to speak publicly, you know how much of a scary situation it put Idia in, even though he was able to do it. Stressing him out is just gonna make him unhappy :(
Someone who enjoys spending as much time inside as he does! I’m not talking a hikikomori but someone who wouldn’t be opposed to staying inside with him 99.9% of the time lol
“Y-Y/N-shi, would you like to g-go on a date with me soon?” Idia fumbled with his fingers, looking away as he asked you. You raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Idia, this is the first time you asked me to ‘go on a date’. Don’t tell me, are we actually going out somewhere?!”
“Eek! D-don’t be ridiculous, Y/N!!” He almost screeched the words out. Suddenly he pulled out a couple of VR headsets with hand controllers, and handed one to you. “Fuhehe, I just made a bunch of simulation locations. We could go to the park, a restaurant, even an amusement park..!” He grinned showing off his teeth.
You giggled at Idia’s enthusiasm, loving the way he gets after speaking about his own creations. “What a wonderful idea, Idia. Maybe we could take Ortho to the ‘amusement park’ too? We’ll be a big family.” You mused. Idia’s face brightened and a faint pink tinge covered his cheeks.
“F-family, huh? Ah, Y-Y/N-shi…. That would be n-nice…” Idia blushed as he considered what the future would bring for the both of you.
Malleus Draconia
Malleus would also mostly not have preferences on a person’s personality. Like, he wouldn’t say something like: “I want someone shy vs someone bold.” Anything his child of man does is interesting to him and he’s entranced by you!
That being said, Malleus would not tolerate rudeness, disrespect to him, Lilia, or his fellow dorm mates, etc. He may love you but he values those bonds more, especially Lilia’s and his grandmother’s.
Malleus wants someone who is willing to teach him human tendencies, since he is curious about them. Malleus will also probably never stop asking you about your life in the previous world, and listen passionately as you describe the hobbies you had, family members, etc.
As long as you continue to love and treat Malleus like a normal person and with kindness, he will continue to love you endlessly. He’s so unused to it that he will feel so special as you only coo in awe instead of fear away, if he showed you a magic trick or maybe donned more of his draconic features like his tail or long claws.
You walked with Malleus under the bright moonlight in the woods near Ramshackle dorm. His height and charm never failed to impress you. And his face, he was so very handsome. His striking green eyes always made you feel hypnotized and his horns were so well taken care of, you almost wanted to reach out and-
“Hm, Child of Man… you do know it’s quite rude to stare, yes?” Malleus chuckled and suddenly broke the silence, making you gasp. “Ah, sorry Tsunotarou. I-,” searching your thoughts, you just couldn’t think of anything quickly enough. “I just couldn’t help myself. You’re very attractive.” You murmured, admitting defeat.
“Oh? Do I not intimidate you, my dear? Usually humans and even other fae fear my features and tend to shy away…” Malleus looked down in thought as he continued walking. You wrapped yourself around one of his arms as he walked, effectively stopping him in his place. “Well, you don’t intimidate me! I like being around you, so, let’s keep it that way. I want to stay with you for a long time so don’t get too tired of me okay, Malleus?”
Hearing you say his given name only made the fae’s heart beat harder in his chest. Surely you knew what you did to him. He smiled down at you, green eyes softening in your gaze.
“I assure you I won’t, little human.”

Tumblr media
“We look like idiots.”
“Yeah, well,” Jin shrugs, handing you yet another t-shirt to try on. “That can’t be helped.”
You gasp, snatching the shirt away from him and heading toward the fitting room. “Rude! I meant with all of these ridiculous clothes!”
Jin’s laughter follows you as you close the door and throw on what feels like the thirtieth gaudy t-shirt from the zoo’s souvenir shop. This one is vivid blue, which you suppose is an upgrade from the caution-cone orange Jin had you trying on a few minutes ago.
“Ok,” you call out, “ready?”
“Ready!”
Peeking out of the little room, you notice Jin sitting on the little sofa in the waiting area. He grins up at you, already wearing a matching shirt.
“Do you like it?” He asks, lips pouting out a bit as he waits for your answer.
Avoiding looking in the mirror for too long, you manage a feeble, “Yeah…it’s not as bad as the others, I guess.”
That’s all Jin needs to hear. With a clap of his hands he’s jumping up and herding you toward the front of the shop. You don’t miss the amused glances people are giving you and your boyfriend, who pauses to grab a couple of baseball caps.
“Let’s see…” he brushes some of your hair back before sliding the cap onto your head, stepping back to get the full effect. “Perfect. And, it’ll protect your scalp from the sun!”
Like a couple of walking mannequins, the two of you head up to pay for the clothes you’re now wearing. Jin has a backpack on hand for your other clothes, which you unceremoniously shove inside before zipping it shut.
The cashier offers you a wide smile as she assists with the transaction. You know what she’s thinking:do I pity or envy her?
Honestly, it’s a toss up. Of course, there’s the fact that Jin often makes you do ridiculous things (exhibit A, bright blue zoo t-shirts with roaring lions on the front and waddling penguins on the back), but then again, you don’t stop him.
Rather, you egg him on. There’s something just so adorable about the way he gets so excited for such simple things. And for today, it’s over a trip to the zoo.
Of course, you’re excited as well. Mainly to see the meerkats, which Jin will never let you live down. When you told him that the meerkats were your favorite animal, he stopped and stared at you for an unnervingly long amount of time. You had begun to wonder if you’d somehow upset him when he burst out laughing, claiming that he could see it.
“See what?” You seethed.
“The resemblance,” Jin choked out between laughter. “You’re basically a meerkat in human form!”
With a smack to his chest, you glared at him and said, “Yeah well…you’re a walrus! Yeah, a walrus!”
Needless to say, he was extremely offended and didn’t speak to you for hours. In fact, the only thing that had brought him out of his misery had been you dragging him to the souvenir shop and giving him permission to get whatever he wanted. That apparently included getting you some items as well.
“Ah, it’s such a nice day,” Jin remarks the second you step outside. His hand slips into your seamlessly, a testament to the countless times you’ve repeated the action. “Perfect day at the zoo.”
Indeed it is. The sun is shining, there’s a cool breeze licking at the nape of your neck, and there’s fewer people than you’d expected to be here on a day like today.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it’s Tuesday morning. It would appear that most people – the sane ones, at least – are busy with work and other weekday obligations. Neither of you are, though. Jin has a rare day off and he’d had the day circled on the calendar for well over a month at this point. You had made sure a long time ago to have this day off.
“When’s the last time you went to the zoo?” You ask, glancing sidelong at your boyfriend.
Perhaps it’s his undeniable good looks or the fact that you hardly get to see each other due to your hectic schedules, but you can’t help the little sense of wonder that comes over you as your survey him in the morning sun. Somehow, you really have no idea how he does it, he manages to pull off the shirt and hat. Sure, he looks silly. But he owns the look.
It’s a wonder that he’s yours.
“Hmmm…” Jin ponders for a moment. “I think it was the last time we went together.”
You gasp. “That was like…three years ago! You seriously haven’t been since?”
Laughing at your shocked expression, Jin shakes his head. “Nope.”
Three years ago, close to the time when the two of you had first started dating, Jin wanted to take you out on a special date to celebrate the beginning of your relationship. Without telling you where you were going, you had assumed there would be a nice restaurant, maybe some sort of play or whatever else it is that fancy people do when they first begin to date.
Oh, how wrong you’d been.
Assuming that just because Jin was…well, rich, you couldn’t be more wrong about his taste in dates. When he had parked in the zoo lot and led you through the entrance, you had been waiting for the punchline.
There wasn’t any. No, he had simply wanted to spend the entire day with you. Walking around, having an “excuse to hold your hand” in Jin’s words, and somehow making you believe that crocodiles’ tails could change color when it danger. (don’t ask)
“I still think that it would be so cool to live up there,” you point to the houses in the distance, overlooking the zoo. There was a neighborhood of stately homes just a little way’s away which the two of you had snooped on after your date to the zoo all those years ago.
Jin chuckles quietly. “What if a tiger escapes and ends up in the yard?”
You shrug. “I guess it makes for a good excuse to always keep a steak in the fridge. I’ll lure it away with that.”
“Absolute genius,” your boyfriend hums, making you scrunch up your nose at his obvious sarcasm. “So, where should we begin?”
“At the beginning?”
Laughing jovially (honestly, the best thing about Jin is the fact that he thinks you’re funny), the two of you set down a little path which will take you to a butterfly exhibit.
“Agh, I forgot how hot it is in here,” you mutter the second you step inside. Plants of all different shapes and sizes loom over and around you, home to several different kinds of butterflies. A few stray butterflies flutter overhead, making you temporarily forget the humidity of the greenhouse.
Jin ooh’s and ah’s over the bright yellow butterfly that brushes past him. “Did you see that? It nearly landed on my nose!”
“Aw, it recognizes a Disney Princess when it sees one,” you coo, earning a half-hearted glare from Jin.
“I thought we discussed this,” he grumbles. “I’m Flynn Rider.”
“Right. My bad. Who am I again?”
A giant grin splitting his features, Jin wiggles his eyebrows at you. “Mother Gothel, obviously.” The slap to his right butt-cheek echoes through the greenhouse, quickly followed by his yowl of pain.
Pretending to wipe tears from his eyes, Jin limps after you as you continue through the greenhouse.
“You’re lucky nobody was in here to see that,” he says. “They could send you away for treating me so horribly. I mean, look! I bring you to the zoo, I buy you a nice shirt, I let you choose where we go first-”
Whirling around to face your boyfriend only to find a knowing smirk already on his face, you glare up at him. He knows that he won.
“Yah! What do you want?” You ask, exasperated. Limping forward, clearly milking this for all it’s worth, Jin pouts down at you with big, brown eyes.
“Just one kiss.”
You gasp, feigning horror. “A kiss?! In this sweaty, public greenhouse?!” You frantically point at the butterflies which are your only witnesses in here. “In front of the innocent butterflies?”
Jin looks at you and shudders. “Wow. I think it’s official.”
“What?”
“We spend way too much time together. You’re impersonating me right now, aren’t you?”
“Was it that obvious?”
“Yeah. But I still stand by my condition.” Finally taking one final step, Jin towers over you. With a playful wink, he puckers his lips.
“Ugh, I hate you sometimes.”
Jin peeks one eye open. “You just said you loved me earlier.”
“Is it too late to change my mind?”
“Sorry, no refunds.” Then, taking things into his own hands, Jin cups your cheeks and swoops in for a kiss.
On your nose.
Sputtering as he steps away, you glare at him. “What was that?!”
Turning on his heel and heading toward the exit, you notice that Jin’s over-exaggerated limp is long gone. With a devilish grin over his shoulder, Jin says, “You were taking too long. But you still owe me a kiss, whenever I ask for it. No matter where we are or what we’re doing, ok?”
You can recognize a trap when you see one. However, you’re left with no choice. Grumbling out a “yeah, whatever” you follow after him.
After the butterfly exhibit you make your way to the reptile house, opting to get all of the hot and humid indoor places out of the way while it’s still morning. The Gila monsters make you laugh as Jin takes a video of the tongue flipping in and out of its mouth and sends it to Hoseok. The two of you know full well that the boy in question will no doubt scream in horror as he watches the video.
Hand in hand, Jin finally swerves off the path toward one of the final indoor exhibits: Animals of the Savanna.
Once you’re inside, you pull and tug at Jin until he’s relenting and allowing you to find the meerkats. To onlookers, you’re sure you look like a child dragging their disgruntled parent to and fro. However, once you spot the meerkats, any thoughts of maintaining your dignity in front of these people eddies out of your mind.
“Jin! Jin! Seokjin!” You hop up and down on the balls of your feet, completely missing the tender look Jin sends your way as you drag him closer. “Look at them! Woooow there’s so many! Aww and there’s little babies, too!”
Jin just hums along, smiling as he watches your wide eyes. You get as close as humanly possible, grinning at the creatures that occasionally look your way. Through it all, he maintains some sort of contact. Giggling without knowing what you’re laughing about. Just laughing for the sake of it.
He just…loves the zoo. Yeah, that’s it.
It had been a silly idea, to bring you here three years ago to celebrate the beginning of your relationship. In fact, you had looked at him like he was already bordering on crazy when he had brought up the idea of doing something special now that you had agreed to be his girlfriend.
“Don’t people usually do something special for anniversaries?” You had asked. Your hair had been longer then, a tell-tale sign of your youth.
Jin shrugged, completely under your spell without your knowledge. He found it nearly impossible to look away from you at times like these. “We can do that, too. Next year. But for now, why don’t we just celebrate the beginning?”
“Sure,” you mimicked his shrug, snuggling into his side on the couch. Despite his unaffected demeanor, he wondered if you noticed the way his heart was pounding as you rested your head against his shoulder. “I’ll do whatever, as long as it’s with you.”
So, after discussing it with his best friends, he decided to take you to a beautiful dinner looking over the Han river. There was a new restaurant that was outrageously fancy and delicious, and he wanted to treat you to the best.
When he arrived at your apartment that evening, just in time to hopefully catch the sunset on the Han if all went according to plan, he overheard you talking on the phone. Your window was open, and like the snoop that he was, he waited to listen in on your conversation.
He wouldn’t have it he hadn’t heard your mentioning his name.
“I don’t know what we’re doing tonight,” you admitted. You were quiet for a moment while listening to the other side of the conversation. “You think so? I don’t know, I’ve never dated someone like this. You know, like…rich. What do rich people do on dates? I’m a little out of my element here, I just hope I won’t make a fool of myself.” Your laugh had him hurtling to reality, and he realized in an instant that he couldn’t take you to that restaurant.
A part of him knew in that moment that you were going to be the rest of his life. You were it for him. And if you want something to last, you treat it differently.
A perfectly forgettable meal surrounded by gossiping netizens wasn’t what you deserved.
So what did you deserve?
That had been the question on his mind as he tried to hide just how sweaty his palms were when he knocked on your door.
“Oh, I think he’s here. I – yeah, I’ll call you after. Ok, bye.”
Seokjin has always been good at pretending that he has a plan even when he has no idea what to do. Which is exactly what he did. You had been absolutely adorable, bouncing in your seat as he set off down the highway, begging him to give you a hint.
When he’d seen the exit for the zoo, he turned down that road without a second thought. You looked utterly confused when he pulled into the parking lot, and little did you know that he was just as confused as you were.
He just prayed that you wouldn’t think he was the dumbest person ever for letting those reservations slip through his fingers for the fanciest restaurant in Seoul. Perhaps a date to the zoo wasn’t the right idea, perhaps it wasn’t romantic at all, perhaps-
Perhaps you were happiest with his hand in yours and a meerkat a few feet away from you.
He’s so tempted to cash in that kiss right now, with how adorable you look. But he bites his tongue, reminding himself that he has to save it for later.
Once you’re loved of meerkats is sated enough for you to be herded away, Jin leads you to a street vendor. “Eat up,” he says as he passes the bread cone filled to the brim with macaroni and cheese to your outstretched hands. He’ll never understand your love for the little abominations, but he caves and orders one for himself as well.
“Don’t you want to sit and eat it?” He asks as he spies you wandering off. You twirl around, licking the cheese off of your lips. And stupid as it is, his heart skips a beat.
“They’re gonna feed the penguins in ten minutes!” You respond, clearly expecting that to be enough of an explanation. Again you turn to wander away. You’re not worried about leaving Jin behind, though. His long legs catch up to you within a few seconds.
The two of you eat in relative silence as you watch the penguins waddling around. Once you’re finished with your food, you spend a good hour sitting in the amphitheater watching the penguins and wondering which ones the two of you would be.
“I’m that one,” you point to a particularly fat penguin attempting to get out of the water. “That looks like me trying to get out of my chair whenever I eat.”
Jin nearly chokes on his water at your remark, squinting at the penguin that has yet to be successful in getting out of the water. “How pitiful. Oh, that’s me.”
Another penguin appears on the ice, looking down at the fat one.
“Oh, have you come to rescue me?” You ask, sitting forward and resting your chin on your hands. Jin immediately begins massaging the small of your back, knowing that it’s a troublesome spot for you most days.
“Probably- oooh down he goes!”
The two of you burst into a fit of laughter as the penguin pears down into the water only to lose its footing and slip in alongside the previously struggling penguin.
“Yeah, that’s us,” you confirm, still laughing.
“Definitely us. We’re a mess most days.”
You lean back, taking up your usual spot on the crook of his shoulder and resting your hand on the inside of Jin’s knee. “At least we have each other.”
You say it with a teasing tone, but Jin can’t help the way it goes straight to his heart. Sneakily planting a kiss atop your baseball cap, he squeezes you a little tighter. “Yeah, that’s true. Don’t know where I’d be without you.”
“Probably still on land,” you remark slyly, peeking up at him. With slightly pink cheeks and zero hesitation you utter out, “I love you.”
He’ll never get used to you.
“Love you, too.”
From there you head over to the polar bears, which appear to be largely unimpressed by your presence. Jin drags you to see the hyenas, sporting some strange interest in the creatures. It only makes sense to sit and stare at the large tigers after that, your mouth ajar as you marvel at its size.
Then it’s the elephants and rhinos.
“Ugh, it smells like your fridge that one time,” you joke the second to get a whiff of the rhino’s habitat.
“It does not!” Jin shouts, drawing the attention of some of the other visitors. “My fridge smelled much worse.”
You can’t help but cackle at his remark. “I stand corrected.”
Toward the end of your visit you pass by to visit the monkeys. “If you squeeze my hand any harder, it’ll fall off.”
You try and fail to relinquish your grip. “Sorry, they just freak me out.” As if on cue, a monkey swings by in front of the tall glass window, making you jump and squeal in terror.
“Should we leave?” Jin questions, hiding his laughter.
You bury your head in between his shoulder blades, squeezing your eyes shut. “No, just go fast.”
He does just that, speeding through the exhibit until he’s announcing that you’re nearing the end. Slowly you look up, blinking at the now dark sky.
“Have we been here all day?” You ask in wonder. Checking the time, Jin nods.
“Yep. It’s about time to head home.”
Languidly making your way back up the path to the zoo entrance and exit, you swing your hands back and forth. “That was so fun.”
Jin raises his brows. “Really? I thought you were a goner back there with the monkeys.”
Faking a shiver, you revel in the way Jin falls for it and automatically pulls you in closer. “I thought I was, too. But I just thought of the meerkats, and I made it through.”
Snorting, Jin waves goodbye to a few of the staff members the open the gate for the two of you to leave. “Is that so? It had nothing to do with your big, strong, boyfriend protecting you?”
“I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“Oh really.”
“No. Why? Did you think we had something going on?”
Rolling his eyes, Jin bumps you with his hip, making you giggle. “If not, this has been the most dedicated friendship I’ve ever experienced.”
“Dude, you have six best friends-”
“Ok, first you say I’m not your boyfriend, and then you stoop so low as to refer to me as dude?!”
Your laugh rings out loud and clear in the evening air, followed by Jin’s stupefied laughter. “You’re so dramatic,” you accuse, reluctantly freeing yourself from his grip as you near the car.
“Hey, you don’t get to judge me. It’s not like you’re my girlfriend.” Still bickering back and forth, Jin starts driving and heads off to the right instead of the left.
“Woah, where are we going?” You ask, frowning out at the night.
Jin shrugs. “Let’s go snoop around those houses again.”
“The ones by the zoo?”
“Yeah.”
You’re all too happy to go along with it. Clutching your hand atop the console, Jin maneuvers his way to the small hill overlooking the zoo.
“Wow,” you breathe out. “I forgot how beautiful this view is.”
Indeed it is. The city lights glow and glint in the distance, creating a warm blanket of familiarity. The zoo lights are shutting off, only a few left on here and there. The sound of music from floats up toward you as you roll the window down, drinking it in.
“The residents always hear the closing songs each night,” Jin supplies, somehow reading your mind as you wonder about the music coming from the zoo. “It turns off by ten on weekdays and eleven on the weekends.”
“How’d you know that?”
“I have some friends that live up here.”
You turn to look at Jin, eyes wide. “You do? How come you never told me?”
“They just moved,” he explains with a forgotten smile. “You wanna see their house?”
“Yes!”
Jin turns down a different street, slowly stopping before a beautiful home with colonial style columns in the front. Sure enough, there’s a sign in the front of the house with a red sticker stating SOLD for all to see.
“Should we look around the lot?” Jin asks, turning off the car and taking off his seat. “It looks like they’re not home right now, but they said we could look around if we wanted.”
“You told them we were coming?”
He shrugs, hopping out of the car and hurrying around to open up your door. “I mentioned that we’d be in the area.”
“Who are these friends of yours, anyway?” You ask, stepping out of the car. The house quite literally takes your breath away, and you turn around to capture the full view. The city is still visible, the zoo and its music appearing more like a memory than a reality. “Wow, this is amazing.”
“Uh,” Jin scratches the back of his neck. “Their names should be on the sign right there.”
Frowning, you ignore his avoidance of the question and skirt around him to walk up to the edge of the lawn. Crouching down, your eyes scan the sign for any names you might recognize. There’s a small paper, almost like a receipt, hanging from the sign. Smoothing it out from where it’s flowing in the breeze, you squint at the names that appear.

You know that name. You know that man.
And the name beside his…
“It’s our names…?” You breathe out, not quite understanding. Straightening up, you turn to face Jin with a confused expression. “Why does it-”
There’s Jin, but he’s not where you left him.
He’s down on one knee, looking up at you with the expression he gets when he holds his breath. Behind him the city gleams as bright as ever, however it somehow dims in the face of what you see before you.
Jin, opening up a small box. And inside the velvety interior, a ring shining as though it were made of stars.
Suddenly, it clicks. The date to the zoo, where you’d first officially began this relationship. The house with your name on it, the way Jin had this day circled on the calendar for longer than you care to remember.
Jin can’t breathe, and he can tell by the way your chest has stopped rising that you can’t, either.
“I- I’d like to cash in that kiss now,” Jin stutters out.
In a rush of limbs and a mixture of laughter and sobs, you find yourself kneeling across from Jin and kissing him hard enough to bruise his plump lips. You’d feel bad, except for the fact that he returns the kiss with just as much fervor. When the kiss begins to taste of salt, you pull away to discern of those are your tears or his.
It’s both, you realize as Jin gazes at you, completely oblivious to the tears streaming down his cheeks.
“O-oh!” He exclaims, staring down at the ring box in his shaking hands. “Will you marry me?”
Without a single ounce of hesitation, you laugh, voice thick with emotion. “Yes!”
That’s all it takes for Jin to pull you in close again, attacking you with kisses at a speed you can’t keep up with. He pulls back, panting and eyes alight with pure elation. “And do you want to live here with me, then?”
You choke on a laugh, still crying and on your knees. “Of course I do, Seokjin. You- you bought me a house.”
“Yeah,” he sniffles. “I did.”
Then, gasping with wide eyes, Jin snaps his fingers. “I almost forgot!” Jumping up to his feet, he runs back to the car. You watch after him, too in shock to stand at the moment. Your glinting rings on your hand catches your attention, making you wonder when exactly he put it on. No doubt it was sometime in the midst of his breathless kisses.
Jin returns a moment later, dropping to his knees again. Nevermind the fact that there are plenty of places to sit. He has a lanyard around his neck, and he places another around your own.
“What’s this?” You ask, grabbing the little card hanging off of the end. Once you catch sight of it, you begin to laugh (and somehow cry) even harder.
Season passes to the zoo.

a video of supergirl grabbing lena luthor's ass starts circulating and it's very embarrassing for sc but extremely funny to their friends
(I am SO sorry. Where do these hide? Why do I never see them? How long has this been here?!
Anyways, have some cute nonsense!)
The day starts like any other, honestly.
Like, sure, Kara’s never thrilled when she wakes up 20 minutes late and has to use superspeed to get through her morning routine and into the office on time, but it happens regularly enough that she’s just sort of used to it by now. Like, the sky is blue, the grass is green, she manages time poorly. Whatever.
But she does get to work on time, with just enough to spare that she can make a brief detour to Nia’s desk for the coffee her protege has already bought for her, thank her profusely (with perhaps minor promising of firstborn children), and slip into the morning meeting just as Snapper, James, and Lena start handing out assignments for the day.
“Well, well, good of you to join us, Ponytail. Let me guess, a family emergency kept you out all night again?”
‘I mean, that Abraxian wasn’t my family, technically, but someone’s family, so…’ “Something like that. Sorry.”
Lena catches her eye and quirks a brow in question, but Kara just shrugs easily and sips her coffee, pulling a silly face at her friend when Snapper’s attention moves away from her. When her eyes uncross, she can tell Lena is fighting not to laugh, eyes sparking with mirth as she bites her lip. Kara takes another sip of coffee, feeling a bit smug that she can get Lena to smile without even having to say anything to her. That’s real talent, right there.
Especially since Lena has to stand up at the front with James, who has been by turns cold, dejected, and surly toward her since their breakup (a big, real, final one) a few weeks prior. Lena had said that the whole thing was a mistake, that she should’ve never gone for it in the first place because she’d been right the first time- they’d had some chemistry, after all, but it certainly wasn’t compatible long-term.
Which… Kara can certainly relate. Like, a lot.
Especially about the whole… James being kind of wounded about it part. That part had really sucked- when he’d done it with Kara, who he’d gone on like, a date with, it’d resulted in him deciding to become a vigilante. Rao only knows what he’ll do when it’s someone he dated on and off for over a year...
“Ponytail!”
Kara jumps, realizing too late that her wandering attention hasn’t gone unnoticed. “Yes, sir?”
Snapper rolls his eyes. “Great, now that you’ve stopped orbiting Saturn, you wanna go get that article started?”
Kara’s eyes widen slightly in a panic as she realizes that she has no idea what he’s talking about. “Uh…” Behind his back, Lena catches her eye and nods subtly. Thank Rao. “Yes. I super do.”
Lena snorts, James sighs deeply, and the meeting is adjourned.
**
“So what exactly am I supposed to be doing today?” Kara asks Lena as they stroll out of the conference room together.
“Well unfortunately for you, you have to interview a big-time CEO. You have a meeting scheduled with her in three hours.”
“You?” Kara asks hopefully.
“You’re very sweet,” Lena chuckles. “No, Elena Watts. She’s a real estate developer, and she runs a nonprofit organization for homeless youth. It’s one of the articles we’re doing for next month’s spread. Contrary to popular belief, Cat and I weren’t the only women with high-profile jobs in this city. ”
“Oh, that’s pretty cool! Have you met her?”
“Not personally, no, but I have donated to her charity- it’s a very good cause, especially the outreach they do with queer youth.”
Kara elbows Lena gently. “You’re such a softie.”
“Mmm, maybe. But if you tell anyone, you’re fired.”
Kara clutches a hand to her chest, feigning horror. “Why Miss Luthor, what a blatant abuse of power!”
Lena shrugs. “I’m a Luthor, darling, I have to keep up appearances somehow.”
“Ouch,” Kara laughs. “See you at lunch?”
“Only if lunch includes a milkshake- I have a teleconference with both boards today. Unless you feel like joining me?”
“Wow, well as fun as that sounds, I’m gonna go do literally anything else.” Her comms crackle to life, alerting her of a hostage situation downtown, and Kara sighs. So much for a work day. “Alright, well, I’m, um, gonna go… see what I can find on Elena Watts. Maybe over another cup of coffee at Noonan’s.” She widens her eyes a bit, trying her best to convey that she’s going to be on Super-duty for a little while.
Thankfully, Lena picks up on it and grins. “You just want sticky buns.”
“Lena, I always want sticky buns. They’re like, my second favorite thing to eat.”
“Oh? What’s the first?” Lena asks, voice just a bit lower than usual.
Kara opens her mouth and closes it, flushing slightly as she averts her gaze and adjusts the laptop bag on her shoulder. Stuff like that has been happening more and more, and she’s not 100% sure what to do about it. Because on the one hand, it makes her stomach do flips and tie up in knots and makes her brain do this… staticky thing where nothing filters in or out, just a pleasant buzz of how funny and smart Lena is and how much Kara likes hanging out with her and being flirted with (because that’s definitely what’s been happening, even if neither of them is really ready to address it) and just generally looking at Lena.... who is currently biting her lip and grinning up at Kara, and that buzz makes her kinda dumb, which is just really unhelpful. But on the other hand, it’s also kinda awesome and Kara really enjoys it, and-
“Kara?”
She spaced out again. Crap.
“Um. What time are you free for lunch?”
Lena sighs, seeming slightly disappointed that Kara isn’t flirting back at the moment (and thank Rao Lena can’t read minds), but she smiles back easily enough as they step off of the elevator. “I should be done by two.”
Feeling emboldened, Kara turns so she’s walking backwards in front of Lena and grins. “It’s a date,” she says with a grin, ducking forward to press a quick “friendly” kiss high on Lena’s cheek. She whirls and jogs out the double doors, leaving Lena smiling exasperatedly after her.
**
It is genuinely baffling to Kara that people still commit crimes in National City. It’s not even an ego thing, really, since Kara tries to keep herself humble (even when she manages to wrap up a hostage situation within twenty seconds of arriving on-scene without injuring any of the criminals or damaging the building too badly). Like, yeah, she gets that there’s a certain element of crazies who just sorta gravitate to places with a local hero, the big-bads who have their own suits and geek-toys and abilities. Them, Kara gets. Kinda sorta. But the regular ones, who are armed with like, pistols? Or knives? Just regular man made stuff without even the benefit of magic or kryptonite or something?
Why?
She’s sure that if she asked, Lena would have some sort of statistical thing about large cities and poverty and all sorts of other factors that would end up making Kara feel like a jerk for being uncharitable to the criminal element of her city, but at the moment she’s mostly too annoyed by the fact that she has to spend her weekdays chasing them around instead of chasing stories.
Once all the hostages are freed and the cops secure the scene, Kara departs, flying into the alley behind Noonan’s and changing into her regular clothes before she heads inside to do a bit of research before her meeting with Elena Watts in a few hours (just because she’d used it as a cover doesn’t mean it was a bad idea…). She finds her favorite little two-person booth tucked into a quiet corner, plugs in her laptop, and gets to work, asking the waitress to please keep both the coffee and the sticky buns coming.
She gets a surprising amount done by the time she needs to leave for the interview, having a good foundation for what she wants to write and who Elena Watts is.
Ms. Watts turns out to be a pretty nice lady around Eliza’s age, if a bit busy and distracted by the steady flow of people in and out of her office. She answers all Kara’s questions with aplomb, happy to elaborate on most every point and eager to draw attention to the rising issue of homelessness among children and teens in the US.
“When I was young, my dad lost his job at the auto plant. It was supposed to be a temporary layoff, but the factory never reopened. We ended up losing the house, and we lived so far from our extended family that staying with them wasn’t much of an option. We lived in our SUV for six months, sleeping at shelters every now and again, if we could find one that allowed families to stay together. We showered at the local YMCA. Five people and a dog, living and sleeping in an old station wagon- even now, it sounds ridiculous. Eventually, we got back on our feet, but I never forgot that. It was just six months, but it was- and remains- the scariest, most uncertain time in my entire life, and it shaped me in a lot of ways I didn’t expect. And there are kids and families who do that for years. I just want to help them the way I wish that someone had been able to help us.”
At the end of the interview, Kara thanks her profusely for her time and for sharing her story before hurrying off to CatCo to type up a draft for Snapper (“What’s wrong with you, Ponytail, why is everything you bring me sappy and sentimental?”), which she finishes an outline of just in time to send it off before running to Big Belly and L-Corp for lunch with Lena.
She greets the newest in a series of secretaries (Anna? Amy? Ava? Lena’s really missing Jess, these days, but from what she’s told Kara, Jess is kicking butt in her new role as VP of Operations and will probably take over for the COO when he retires in a few years), and the girl waves her in distractedly.
And that’s when Kara’s day goes from normal to not, because inside the office are two masked men holding a stone-faced Lena at gunpoint on her balcony and demanding… something, probably. Kara’s a bit distracted by the loaded gun aimed at Lena’s head.
“Hey!” she yells, attracting both their attention. They whirl on her and Lena’s eyes widen in alarm, and Kara suddenly realizes three things- 1) she’s in her Kara Danvers clothes, not the supersuit, 2) she can’t speed into the suit now that they’re both looking at her, and 3) she has no plan.
Crap.
“Who the hell are you?!” one of them demands.
Kara… doesn’t have a good or snappy answer for that, and instead does the only thing she can think of- she throws the large milkshakes she’s carrying at them as hard as she can.
Which, in retrospect, is too hard, apparently because while yes, it is both funny and gratifying to see two grown men get absolutely leveled by a tasty dairy treat to the face, the one closest to Lena manages to elbow her in such a way that she falls backwards over the rail with an instinctual scream that makes Kara’s heart fly into her throat. She whips off her glasses, and by the time she’s out the window and speeding toward Lena’s flailing form, the suit is materialized. She gets under Lena, catching her carefully and dropping a bit further before slowing down (because she’s been made aware that when she doesn’t, the people she’s saving may as well be hitting the pavement), finally coasting to a stop about 20 feet from the ground.
Lena’s face is screwed up in a forced sort of focus, her hands clutching tightly at Kara’s shoulders and cape as she holds her breath.
“Are you okay?” Kara asks quietly.
Lena swallows thickly and nods, eyes still firmly closed. “I’m alright. Thank you- I’ll admit, I wasn’t quite sure how to get out of that one.”
“What was that? What did they want?”
Lena cracks an eye open. “Oh. you know, just my quarterly assassination attempt. I think my mother was starting to miss me, so she wanted to reach out.”
Kara snorts. “That really shouldn’t be funny.”
“Maybe not, but here we are.” Lena shifts a bit in Kara’s arms, cheeks a bit flushed from the adrenaline rush, and clears her throat. “Not to be rude, Supergirl, but do you think that perhaps we could continue this conversation… on the ground?”
“Oh. Oh! Yeah, sorry. I forgot we were, uh, flying.”
Lena chuckles as they ascend slowly back up to her office. “You forgot you were flying?”
Kara shrugs with an easy smile. “I guess you have that effect on me.”
Lena huffs a laugh against Kara’s neck, eyes squeezed shut again. They alight on the balcony, finding the two men still unconscious, covered in Kara and Lena’s lunch. Lena sighs as Kara sets her down, pinching the bridge of her nose. “What a mess.”
“Yeah, sorry, I sorta… panicked.”
“I was so looking forward to a milkshake too…” Lena laments playfully.
“Well, then I have good news and bad news,” Kara says. She reaches out and gently wipes a bit of her own chocolate shake from Lena’s cheek with the pad of her thumb, tucking it into her mouth on instinct to get a taste of it. “The good news is, you do, in fact, have some shake on you!”
“Whats the bad news?”
“Also that you have some shake on you.” Kara laughs, gathering the two men in her arms and hefting them a bit so they’re easier to carry. “I’ll get you another one. Be right back.”
She drops the men at the police station with a brief explanation before flying back into the office. Lena hands over her discarded glasses with a wry grin.
“I figured you’d need these before the police arrive.” She’s putting on a brave front, but she’s clearly still more than a bit rattled, if her too-bright eyes and thundering heartbeat are anything to go by. Kara steps closer and opens her arms in invitation, and Lena doesn’t hesitate to step into them. “Thank you,” Lena says fervently, tucking her face into Kara’s shoulder and wrapping her arms tight around Kara’s waist.
“Always,” Kara promises, daring to press a reassuring kiss to Lena’s temple (and getting a bit of Lena’s strawberry shake for her troubles) before wrapping her up even tighter in her arms. “Are you actually okay?”
“I mean, my fear of heights has been reaffirmed,” Lena jokes, “but aside from that, I’m not hurt.”
“Good. I don’t like, love people pointing guns at you. Just so you know.”
“I’m not a fan either, for the record,” Lena drawls, burrowing even closer. “Even though I know you’ll save me, it still puts a damper on my day.”
Kara huffs a laugh. “Same.”
They stay like that for a few minutes, until Lena’s calmed down enough to stop shaking and calls her assistant (Audra, apparently) in, telling her what’d happened and that the police would be arriving shortly to take her and Kara’s statements, and please advise the security team to let them up discreetly. After the cops arrive, it’s a blur of questions, and Kara has to concentrate on telling the story of how she’d panicked and thrown the milkshakes at the men, and one of them had knocked Lena over the balcony (all true), and Kara had yelled for Supergirl, who had knocked the men out on her way to Lena (also technically mostly true. Technically. Mostly.). The police are sure to tell Kara that next time, she shouldn’t throw things at people with guns, and also to tell them both how lucky they are that Supergirl had shown up when she did.
“She’s always there when I need her,” Lena agrees, throwing a sly wink over the officer’s shoulder at Kara.
Kara just shakes her head and smiles. Even almost dying isn’t enough to make Lena not flirt with her. The woman is truly a marvel.
Kara’s comms crackle again, accompanied by Alex’s custom ringtone on her cell, and after assuring the police that she has no issue with giving another statement if they need her to later, hurries over to the DEO (making a quick stop in the back alley to change into her suit).
**
When Kara arrives, she’s told that J’onn and Alex are waiting for her in the Directors’ offices. She makes her way there, waving to the agents and scientists she knows. But it’s very weird, because every time one of them sees her, they start giggling before quickly hurrying off in the opposite direction. Like, literally everyone is whispering and pointing and giggling, and it’s giving Kara such visceral flashbacks to high school that it’s all she can do to not check her cape for a taped on sign that says ‘Kick me’ or ‘Freak’.
(Kids are mean.)
By the time Kara gets to her destination, she’s fully paranoid, sure that someone’s playing a prank on her, somehow, and that everyone but her is in on the joke. She opens the door with more force than intended and catches it just before the handle puts a hole in the wall, throwing Alex and J’onn a sheepish smile. She closes the door extra gently and leans against it heavily. J’onn and Alex just stare at her, looking thoroughly unimpressed.
“Busy day, Supergirl?” Alex asks, and after half a lifetime of spending time with her, Kara recognizes that she, too, is trying not to laugh.
Kara’s had enough. “Okay, do I have something on my face? Or on the suit? Is someone messing with me?”
J’onn’s brow furrows. “No.”
“Then what’s the deal? Why is the entire DEO like… laughing at me? Did someone accidentally vent the lab fumes out into the main hub again?”
“No.”
“Did someone see me crash into that billboard last week?”
J’onn’s frown deepens. “What?”
“No,” Alex answers.
“Then why is everyone laughing at me?!”
“I mean, if I had to guess, I’d say it’s because of that,” Alex muses, nodding toward the big TV on the wall beside Kara.
She steps back to watch the news coverage of her dealing with the hostage situation this morning and frowns. “What, those guys? That was routine, what’s so funny about tha-”
“No, no, not that. That,” Alex clarifies, cranking up the volume.
“...reports are saying that the CEO of L-Corp, Lena Luthor, experienced an attempt on her life early this afternoon. Sources claim that she fell from a considerable height-”
“Hey, she was pushed,” Kara corrects.
“Shh!”
“...caught by Supergirl, who may have gotten a little… familiar with her.”
And there’s a video (clearly recorded on a cell phone but not the worst quality Kara’s ever seen) of Kara catching Lena and slowing to a stop above the sidewalk, of them talking quietly, of Kara’s hand definitely on Lena’s-
“Oh. Oh no.”
“Oh yes,” Alex drawls, clicking the TV off with relish, a large, evil-big-sister grin spreading across her face. “Congratulations, Supergirl- the world just watched you grope Lena Luthor’s ass.”
“But I’m not- I wasn’t groping, I was catching! My hands weren’t… If it was groping, I’d be all up on her, and I wasn’t!”
“Camera begs to differ. It’s already trending on Twitter in National CIty.”
Kara puts her head in her hands and groans. “Why?! I was trying to save her!”
“You were definitely trying to save part of her,” Alex agrees. “Granted, it’s a very nice part...”
Kara’s head pops up, and she shoots Alex a look that’s between a pout and a glare. “You’re not helping.”
Alex feigns confusion. “Am I supposed to be helping?”
“Alright, enough,” J’onn cuts in before Kara can retort. “We just wanted you to be aware. I don’t think that this is going to be taken for anything more than it is- a humorous moment in the middle of a successful rescue. You shouldn’t worry about the press.”
And truth be told, Kara isn't worried about the press- she’s worried about the fact that she’s going to have to face Lena after this. Lena, who she knows for a fact has google alerts set for herself, Kara Danvers, and Supergirl, a gesture which is normally actually sweet and kind but is right now definitely gonna bite her in the-
“Okay! So, is that all?”
Alex blinks, looks over at J’onn, and shrugs. “I mean, yeah. Try not to make a habit of groping your crush when you’re in the suit.”
“I wasn’t groping her-”
Alex grins. “So you admit you have a crush? Interesting…”
“Alex!”
**
J’onn’s prediction is mostly right- no one seems to be taking the shots of her grabbi- saving Lena as anything other than a funny blip of a moment in their coverage of it.
He was wrong about the sheer scale. The clip had gone totally viral in a matter of hours, and seemingly every major network in the country has run the clip at least once as a bit of filler-fluff, and almost every major network anchor (including the ones at CatCo, the traitors) has made at least a passing joke about Supergirl being ‘Super-Handsy'.
Which means that Kara is very late getting back to Lena’s office with replacement food. But like, she’s been busy, okay? It’s not like she’s avoiding Lena, or something, because she’s embarrassed- which she isn’t, because she didn’t do anything bad or wrong and-
Anyways, it’s well past sunset by the time Kara gets to Lena’s office door again. She hesitates outside it for just a moment before shouldering the door open and knocking tentatively.
Lena’s attention jerks from whatever she’d been absorbed in to Kara, and a relieved smile blooms across her face. “Hey there.”
Kara finds herself equally relieved to not experience a repeat performance of earlier scary situations. “Hi,” Kara says, unable to resist smiling back. She raises the bags and cup carrier. “I bring grease and milkshakes. Again.”
“Oh thank god, I’m starving,” Lena says, rolling her chair away from her desk and rising into a deep and probably much-needed stretch. Kara very determinedly does not stare at the slight sliver of soft tummy that appears between her blouse and skirt at the motion. “I’ve been staring at this screen for several hours. And Sam called to yell at me- she says hello, by the way- she and Ruby are in town next weekend.”
“Good!” Kara crosses the room to the couch as Lena does, easily spreading out the veritable buffet of fast food she’d brought over the coffee table. “I mean, not good that she yelled at you, or that you’re still at work, Miss Luthor,” she says pointedly, receiving only an unapologetic shrug in response. “But good that, um-”
“I get it,” Lena chuckles, resting a hand lightly on Kara’s knee and boy, if that doesn’t make Kara’s brain go fuzzy and dumb again… “Thank you, for checking in.”
“Of course I was gonna check on you, Lena,” Kara huffs. “Plus, I know you probably didn’t get lunch, so…”
Lena hums around a mouthful of burger, chewing until she can politely speak again. “Well it’s delicious. Did you make it yourself?” she teases with a sly grin.
“Oh, yeah, totally. Slaved away over a hot stove for this- I just wrapped it in Big Belly wrappers so you wouldn’t feel bad about it.”
“Very clever.” Lena pops the lid off of her milkshake and drags a fry through it (an advanced culinary delicacy Kara had horrified her with initially but had eventually become a bit of a guilty pleasure). “Although I have to say, traditionally you’d have to buy me dinner before you grabbed my ass.”
Kara chokes on a pickle. “Oh no,” she groans, dropping the burger onto the wrapper on the table and dropping her very red face into her hands as Lena laughs beside her. She peers out from between her fingers. “I am so sorry, I was just worried about you hitting the pavement and like, catching you in the least jarring way and I wasn’t paying attention to where my hands were and I didn’t even notice until I got back to the DEO and-”
“Well I have so say, I feel a bit offended that you didn’t even realize you were copping a feel...” When the only response is another groan and a deep flush spreading from Kara’s neck to the tips of her ears, Lena relents. “Kara, Kara, it’s fine!” she laughs, pulling Kara’s hands away from her face and giving them a grounding squeeze. “Nia’s been sending me memes about it all day, which has improved my mood significantly. On the grand scale of fallout from assassination attempts, this one was at least funny.”
“I know that’s supposed to be comforting, but all it makes me wanna do is wrap you in bubble wrap forever,” Kara informs her.
“Pass on that. But seriously, don’t worry about it- I know it wasn’t on purpose- unfortunately for me, you’re too noble to do something like that,” Lena laments playfully.
And whether it’s the knowledge that Lena is not, in fact, upset, the overall weirdness that has been this day, or this delicious burger fueling it, Kara feels a bit emboldened. “Hey Lena…”
“Yes?”
“What if I wanted to grab your butt? Just, y’know, as a hypothetical. For future reference.”
Lena quirks a brow at her, fighting a smile as she contemplates this. “Hmm. Strictly hypothetically?”
Kara scoots a bit closer on the couch. “Sure.”
 “Well, you’ve already bought me dinner…”
“And lunch, technically. Even if I gave it to the bad guys.”
“True. Plus you saved my life, so that gets you some points, probably.”
Kara pauses in her sly scooching. “Oh, hey, wait, no, that’s not-”
“Kidding, Kara. I know you’d never use that to your advantage. I, however, have determined that strong moral fibre and nobility do, in fact, earn you more points, which is my choice on the matter and you get absolutely no say in it.”
“Oh. Um, alright, I think.”
Lena stares off into the middle distance, tapping her forefinger thoughtfully against her chin. Finally she shrugs. “Yes, I think you’re fulfilled the prerequisites for a bit of grab-ass today.”
Kara snorts, Lena laughs, and soon enough Kara takes her up on the offer.
**
“Hey Kara, remember that time you grabbed Lena’s ass and it made international news?” Nia asks around a mouthful of mushu pork.
“You mean last week? Yes, I remember,” Kara drawls. Beside her/halfway sitting on her lap, Lena snorts.
“That was the best.”
Alex glares. “Um, excuse you, no. No it was not. I had to sift through so much thirsting over my sister on like, every social media platform. It was the worst day of my life.”
Brainy’s brow furrows. “Surely that cannot be correct, Alex. Statistically speaking-”
Alex holds up a hand, cutting him off. “Trauma can’t be measured, Brainy.”
Kelly chuckles and presses a consoling kiss to Alex’s cheek, and it makes the tough agent melt into a doe-eyed puddle of mush that Kara snorts. And she says they’re gross... Kara sneaks a glance at Lena from the corner of her eye, and she catches Lena looking at her. She leans close and jostles her gently as she drops her head onto Lena’ shoulder. “We’re never gonna live that down, are we?”
“Probably not.”
“We have the worst friends.” When this elicits nothing but a chuckle, Kara tips her head back to see Lena still looking at her, a soft smile playing at her mouth and shining in her eyes. And like, this whole thing they’re doing is new, with the kissing and the actual dates and the... everything else. But the thing where Kara catches Lena looking at her and she doesn’t look away? That freakin’ knocks her out, every single time. “Hey,” she manages.
Lena grins down at her. “Hi.”
So yeah. Maybe the initial circumstances weren’t ideal, and she doesn’t love the mockery that’s been heaped upon her by all of her friends and loved ones (including Winn, who’d sent a missive from the future that literally just said ‘LOL’). But the fact is, Kara muses as she surges up just enough to kiss the corner of Lena’s mouth, that she doesn’t regret a thing.

S/O GETS SOUP ALL OVER THEIR DRESS (william, moran and albert)
warning: slight nsfw for moran's scenario?? actually it's kinda suggestive soooo 😳
Tumblr media
You and william would be on a date in this beautiful restaurant.
It was a weekday and there weren't much customers since you two had went to the restaurant at an odd time.
You were seated at a table near the the window, over viewing the beautiful street.
William had ordered a egg dish and some bread for the two of you while you went for a soup dish to satisfy your soup craving.
You and william were just casually talking about the things you two wanted to do in the afternoon when you reached for your water glass, you accidentally hit the bowl of your soup, pouring it all over your lap.
Thank god, the soup wasn't that hot anymore 😳
William would chuckle lightly at your clumsiness and get up from his seat, holding the table napkin, offering to help you clean up.
"i-i'm so sorry—" you squeaked softly as you gently pushed back your chair, looking at the small mess you have made.
"It is alright love." William would softly say as he pushed his chair back, swiftly picking up the table napkin and walking over to you. "Let me clean you up, hmm?"
You could only blush and nod at his offer as he gently dabbed at the spots that were soaked in soup contents. He smiled softly at you as he continued cleaning the spots that could be cleaned.
"Hmm, some of the spots won't come off but" He softly said before standing up to put the napkin onto the table, he immediately took his coat off of his chair and placed it on your lap. "Here, wear my coat later on so that you can hide the soup stains." william would say with a soft smile.
"thank you, love. i am sorry for the mess....i'm just a little clumsy you know." You would say as you scoot back into your chair and looking down at your lap.
William had taken his seat across from you and had placed some bread on your plate. "That's alright darling, I think it's cute that you are clumsy and it really doesn't matter because after all, you are my clumsy little angel." he would say before flashing you the most sweetest smile.

This man would take you to a resto-bar because he’s obviously going to drink with you.
Doesn’t matter what time it is cause he will get you two some alcoholic drinks.
You two were on a casual date since you suggested that you two should get out of the house and do something together like other couples do.
So that is how you both ended up dinning at a resto-bar.
He would order a rice meal perhaps a chicken dish or a curry meal while you opt for a light meal such as a fish and chips kind of meal.
Luckily, today was free soup day and so the shop owners gave every customer free soup which was pumpkin soup.
The soup was at the counter and you had to claim it for yourself and moran was feeling “lazy” to get the soup and he really didn’t want any so you made your way to the counter.
As you were getting the free soup, a little girl from behind accidentally bumped into you, causing the bowl of soup to splatter all over your dress and onto the floor.
The mother of the child was quick to apologize and so was the owner, you just softly smiled and told them it was okay.
You went back to the table, your dress drenched in pumpkin soup, as you stood next to moran.
He would look up from his glass of water and his eyes would go a little wide, definitely from shock.
“Oh my... what happened to you my dear?” Moran would ask as he faces you, his glass being set down onto the table.
“a little girl, bumped into me and i accidentally spilled the soup onto myself.” you say softly as you look down at your pumpkin covered dress.
Moran sighed softly before reaching for the napkins and wetting it with some water from his glass. “Can’t really blame you” he said as he smiled. “Come here, let me clean the chunks off.”
You stepped forward and let moran wipe and dab at the small pumpkin chunks that were scattered all over your dress, you watched as he cleaned the stains with the napkin he had.
“the pumpkin soup would have tasted delicious.” you softly said before lightly pouting as he continued to clean your dress. You really wanted to taste the soup but with the little accident, you dare not go near soups again.
“I am pretty sure it was delicious but,” moran said as he finished dabbing your dress, he looked up at you, mischief dancing in his eyes as he lightly smirked. “Bet you would taste even better than the pumpkin soup.”
“s-sebastian!” you would say as your cheeks turn bright red from his words, you instantly hit his shoulder just enough to wipe the smirk off of his face.
“Ow!” He would say before pulling back and sitting properly. “I did not expect you to hit me, babe.”
“d-don’t say such unnecessary things then!!” you would reply before taking a seat across from him. He could only laugh at your reaction before putting the napkins away.

I headcanon that albert likes taking you out for fancy dinner dates.
You two would probably end up at a nice restaurant somewhere in town.
You would be seated by the window, over viewing a nice river. The moonlight shining down on the river and you could see the water sparkle.
Albert would be seated across from you, he would be going through the menu as you look at the beautiful view.
He would ask you what you would like to have and you would end up getting a pasta dish since you kind of like pasta more than anything else. While albert would opt for a steak meal and some wine for the two of you.
Of course there would be an appetizer which was the cream of mushroom soup which both you and albert would enjoy anyways since it is soup.
When the soup was delivered to your table, the waitress in-charge accidentally misbalanced the soups on the tray thus the soup fell onto your lap and yes it was hot.
Albert immediately stood up as he watched your eyes widen is shock from the heat of the soup, the waitress immediately apologized to you.
You could only smiled and forgive her as you took the napkins into your hands and gently clean up the mess on your lap.
Albert stood next to you as he picked up some napkins and helped you clean up. He would then eventually take of the outer layer of his suit and give it to you.
“Did your thighs get burnt or anything?” He would ask softly as he crouched down and wiped the remaining soup off of your dress, his fingers brushing over your thigh. You could only pout and hiss a little since the soup did quite burn your thighs when the content fell onto them.
“it kind of got burnt since the soup was quite hot.” you said softly as he reached for the ice pack the waitress had left on your table for the outcome of the hot soup. He let you gently ice your thighs through the fabric of your dress. “my dress is a bit ruined now... and so is our dinner, i am sorry albert.”
“Don’t apologize, love. It was an accident and our night is not yet ruined alright? As for the dress, I will get you new ones in replacement for this one. For now, how about we go home and ice your thighs , hmm?” He would suggest as he stood up, giving his hand out for you to hold. “We can take out the dinner and just have it at home.” Albert softly smiled at you as you looked up at him.
Maybe your dress and dinner was ruined by the hot cream of mushroom soup and maybe your thighs ache from the burn but seeing albert smile at you and take care of you made everything better.

The one with the much needed bandaid | Peter’s Girl
Summary: You and Peter finally talk about what you saw the night of Liz’s party, and you become sort of his go to nurse
Word count - 2375
Warnings - mentions of injury, language? i can’t remember
━━━━━━━━━♡♥♡━━━━━━━━━
Peter had spent the entire weekend practically pulling his hair out over the whole thing with Y/N. He couldn’t believe he was so reckless that in the space of the same night he’d managed to one, accidentally reveal his identity to one of his best friends, two, scare away the bad guys by underestimating just how dangerous they were, and three, summon Mr Stark- well his suit and some kind of phone call, to save him from a lake after being dropped in by some weird bird man.
So you could say Peter’s last few days hadn’t been very enjoyable or realistic at all and it was driving him insane.
He was trying to fix things one by one, and he’d begun with apologising to Mr Stark for any inconvenience he caused. His mentor was quick to brush it off, telling him not to get too worked up about it, but warning him to leave the dangerous men to him and the people who were specially trained to deal with these kinds of things, not just some kid from Queens.
He didn’t know how much of that he would stick to, determined to catch these guys as quickly as possible if the avengers weren’t going to jump in, but he’d try and keep that quiet and unknown to Tony of course.
The next part of his plan was to find you on Monday morning, to at least try and explain what he was doing in Spiderman’s suit outside of Liz’s party, maybe tell a few white lies to get himself out of the web he’s caught himself in.
And his plan for the bad guys… well that was still in the works, but he was smart so he’d figure it out in his own time.
»»——⍟——««
You had received numerous texts and calls from Peter since the moment you woke up that morning, all of which had been ignored. You’d gathered he’d want to talk to you but you weren’t returning the sentiment, and you weren’t even sure why. Were you mad he didn’t tell you? Mad that he’d put himself in all that danger?
You didn’t know, but you did know that you were planning on avoiding him so you didn’t have to find out.
Peter had met up with Ned that morning like he did every morning. He was rambling on about some new star wars theory that the brunette would normally love to hear and give his opinion on, so the fact that Peter was ignoring him was strange.
“Are you okay? You seem a little on edge,” Ned pointed out. Peter turned to look at him with a small, unconvincing look.
“I just need to talk to Y/N.”
Ned rolled his eyes. He didn’t know what happened that night other than Peter had left him looking stupid at the party, prompting Flash to call the boy some names while he wasn’t there.
Seeing as Mj had stopped defending him and Ned wouldn’t get involved, the male was free to ridicule Peter for as long as he wished, making for a lot of weird stares in the school halls.
But back to the present, his best friend didn’t seem too happy that he was so obviously keeping things from him, because Peter Parker was a horrible liar.
When your eyes met Peter’s figure resting against your locker you quickly spun around and started heading in the opposite direction, even if you had no idea where you were planning on going. Your hair whipping around was what caught Peter’s attention from his peripheral vision.
“Gotta go,” he announced to Ned, heading off the way you left with a quick jog in his step. You could hear Peter calling your name louder the closer he got, prompting you to speed up.
You cursed quietly when you came to the end of the hallway, having to decide on the spot whether to go left to a crowd of rowdy students, or right to a dead end. People must have thought you both looked crazy, even though that was the only other conclusion you could come to about yourself after you saw Peter on the rooftop.
“Y/N!” Peter yelled, grabbing your wrist in a gentle but firm grip. You stared at him wide eyed, almost like you were afraid of him, and it was a look that Peter never wanted to see again.
He quickly looked around before tugging you through an open door that led you to an empty classroom.
He closed the door behind him, leaving you standing there watching him blankly. He took a few minutes to try and prepare what he was going to say, granted something he should’ve probably done before he pulled you into a room with him.
“I want to explain the other night,” he stated, meeting your eyes for the first time that day. Your expression stayed stoic, pursing your lips.
“You want to lie your way out of admitting you’re Spiderman?” you sassed. The male was slightly taken back at your bluntness.
“Yeah, I guess,” he joked, trying to lighten the mood slightly. You didn’t look impressed at all, and he sputtered out a few apologies.
“Okay yes, I am Spiderman-“ you interrupted him with a scoff, running your hands through your hair in frustration. “Please just hear me out, y/n/n.”
You huffed, folding your arms over your chest. Peter had to admit that without your usual happy mood, you were intimidating and he never knew you were even capable of that.
“Fine, go ahead.”
He took a deep breath. “You aren’t meant to know because- it-it’s dangerous Y/N.” Your heart fluttered slightly. “I didn’t tell anyone because I wanted you all to be safe, I don’t know what I’d do if I was the reason you got hurt.”
Your features noticeably softened. He stepped closer to you, taking your hands in his and running his thumb over the back of your skin.
“You can’t tell anyone, please.” His soft eyes met yours in a pleading look.
“Who else knows?” you asked.
“Ned,” he mumbled. “And Mr Stark, but that’s it.”
You perked up slightly, and Peter noticed.
“So, Mj doesn’t know?” He shook his head, murmuring something about how it probably wouldn’t take her long to figure out though. Sensing your happiness about his words, the boy assumed you were happy that you knew something that she didn’t, and he didn’t really understand why. But that wasn’t the case, you were just glad that it meant she was safe, what she didn’t know couldn’t hurt her, right?
“Will you keep my secret?” he asked, staring at you with eyes that resembled those of a scared puppy. You sighed, flashing him a smile and nodding your head.
“Of course I will.” The tone of your voice suggested to Peter that you weren’t done and there was going to be some kind of condition here.
“But?” he prompted.
“But please be careful, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
He grinned, pulling you into a tight hug. You tucked your head under his chin, inhaling his scent and being calmed by his presence.
Peter couldn’t wipe the smirk off of his face thinking about how you weren’t aware of his abilities, something he’d have to explain to you sometime. “You have so much to learn about me.”
»»——⍟——««
A soft tapping on your window was the last thing you expected to hear at almost midnight on a weekday. You raised your head from your pillow, squinting your eyes to try and make out what was on the other side of the glass.
You eventually had to turn on your light, startling when you noticed the shape of a person, more specifically a superhero.
You swung your legs over the side of your bed, hissing when your feet made contact with the cold floor, but you pushed that aside to go and open your window to invite Peter in.
He hastily pulled off his mask, revealing his ruffled hair and bloody face to you.
“Oh my god,” you gasped, taking note of the streaks of red on the side of his face. He looked at you with tears in his eyes, stepping forward without a word to engulf you in a hug.
You were careful wrapping your arms around him, making sure you didn’t cause him anymore pain with your hand placement.
“What happened?”
He raised his head, pressing the spider symbol in the middle of his chest. His suit grew loose, making it easy for him to take off and leave on your bedroom floor.
Your eyes widened, staring at Peter’s body in shock. You knew when he explained the whole situation with the spider that he would have some muscle, but you were definitely not expecting that.
“Um,” you were more or less speechless, forgetting how to even form words while this gorgeous boy was standing in your room in nothing but underwear.
Peter obviously hadn’t thought it completely through, his eyes widening when he realised you were indeed staring at him half naked.
“Sorry, I-I-“ You shook your head, ignoring the definite blush on your cheeks as you guided him to your bathroom. You got the boy to sit down on the side of the tub, where he nervously played with his fingers.
“So, what happened?” you asked, setting your emergency first aid kit on the side. He blankly looked up to you, finally looking at you properly. Only now did he notice that you must have been trying to go to sleep.
You were in an old shirt and a pair of sleep shorts, your hair tied up in a messy ponytail without any makeup. Peter always thought you were pretty, and it seemed as though he was only now realising just how pretty you were.
“Pete?” you whispered, snapping him out of his daydream.
He apologised. “What did you say?”
“I asked if you could turn your head to the light.” He nodded, doing as you asked and bearing his wounded cheekbone to you. His fists clenched when he felt you touch the alcohol to his cheek, hearing a small apology after you heard his pained hiss.
He thought back to a couple minutes ago when you’d ask how this happened, mentally debating whether he should tell you or not. He came to the conclusion that if you were going to generously patch him up then the least he could do was tell you how he got himself in this state in the first place.
“There was some guys following this girl, trying to back her into an alley.” You paused your hand movements, looking into his soft honey eyes with a sympathetic smile. He took that as a sign to continue. “I couldn’t just let it happen, I thought about if that was you or Mj and ai just-“
Your heart almost burst with love for the boy, pressing a friendly kiss to the top of his head that had him blushing a deep scarlet in seconds.
“You did the right thing, even if you got a little hurt.”
He nodded, glad he was able to get your approval, especially after your one condition of not telling anyone was that he was as careful as he could be.
“Where else does it hurt?”
You helped clean Peter up as best as you could, the boy telling you that his quick healing should deal with the parts that you couldn’t, such as the bruised ribs.
“Let me just put a bandaid on and you’re good to go.” He rolled his eyes, trying to tell you that he didn’t need it. It was only a small cut on his bicep but you were insisting on covering it up. Peter watched as your eyes widened when you pulled the bandaids from the first aid kit.
“What is it?” he asked.
You nervously held them up, watching as his face twisted into one of amusement. He let out a loud laugh, quickly being scolded by you as you warned him that your parents were sleeping.
“Really, Y/N?” You blushed, looking down at the bandaid in your hand with a flood of embarrassment. The face of Iron Man stared back at you while Peter continued to giggle. You rolled your eyes, holding out his arm and sticking the bandaid over his cut anyway.
“I hope Mr Stark sees,” you teased, sticking your tongue out at him like a child. “You’re all done.”
He thanked you quietly, heading back into your room while you tidied away the mess you’d made on the counter.
Only when you were done you headed back, planning on getting straight back into your bed as soon as Peter had left.
“Thank you for helping me.” You nodded your head, leaning against the door frame of the bathroom as you watched him slip his suit back on.
“Peter,” you whispered, catching his attention just before he left. He hummed quietly. “You know you can come here anytime you need help, right?”
You were being completely genuine, and Peter could see that in your eyes. He was incredibly grateful for you. He held out his hand to you so you’d come over, intertwining your fingers with his when you were close enough to reach.
On an instinct he dipped his head so he was able to kiss your cheek, refusing to meet your eyes as a cute blush spread across his face, the tips of his ears also tinting pink. If he’d have looked at you, you were sure he would’ve noticed he made you equally as hot and bothered, your heart racing so fast you were surprised he couldn’t hear it.
But he could, and it only made him more nervous that he’d just messed things up.
“I know.” He sent you a smile before shooting one of his webs towards a building in the close distance, slipping his mask on over his face and giving you a wave as a final farewell for the night. Thus began the routine of Spiderman showing up at your window every time he was injured and in need of a bandaid, or in some cases a little more than a bandaid.

7 Minutes in Heaven (Jaehyun x you) 🔞
Okay this is suggestive and not suitable for under 18 readers, so please continue only if you’re going to bear the consequences. No it’s not super smuty, it’s just not a good thing to copy :)
Warning : don’t kiss random strangers, don’t drink, don’t smoke, wrap up or you’re skipping a nine month bloody day :”)... Jungwoo is your bestfriend, Shy!Jaehyun and you’re bold enough to try new things...
anyways this has been in my laptop for a while, wanted to post it on Halloween but didn’t finish it back then... soooo embrace yourself for a new journey of how it might be like to play 7 minutes in heaven with Jaehyun
here goes my (suggestive) fanfic... hope this won’t make you cringe
________________________________________________________________
“So…you're saying the boys think I am a pure innocent girl?” You scoff and laugh upon the remark Jungwoo just said.
“Well they don't believe me when I said you're totally different outside campus.” The man with blue hair bashfully looks around the canteen.
You pick up your fork and continue poking in chicken chunks to your small mouth, “And why are you telling this exactly?”
Jungwoo deadpan looks at you and leans closer, “Why don't you proof them wrong? They've labeled you as the boring mechanical engineering girl!”
He slams the table a bit dramatically, to which you shudder.
“Easy… you'll break the table! Well sorry, but they're not totally wrong. I'm a regular mechanical engineering girl, boring, studying all the time, nerd, and just never coming to parties!” you give him a dry chuckle.
“Look this is not the true you! I've known you since high school! I know how crazy the boys were whenever you pass by! I'll be honest there were like 5 hot guys who had crush on you in high school, just that sorry I told them you're not allowed to date yet.” Jungwoo trails off and feels a bit guilty when he finally spills the beans he has been hiding.
Your eyes fly open and your mouth too, you drop your spoon and grunt, “Say that again… you cock-blocked me?!”
Jungwoo closes his eyes and inhales a deep breath, “I'm saving your future! I just don’t want them to you know use you and throw you away…”
You hit the spoon to the metal tray, and it made a good “BANG"
“Surprise surprise you told me this after like I don’t know five years maybe. You made the men who liked me back away before even trying to reach me out! Jungwoo all my life I thought I was the one with problem?! I thought no one likes nerds like me; when I myself believe I am a fun girl!” your rage bubbles up from within.
You feel like crying, all these times you thought you were imperfect, you were never a crush for men, you've dealt with your insecurities. You overcome dark times when you see your friends walking through the hallway, having the spotlight on them. You thought you can never be that just because you're an A-grade-student. You did have Jungwoo standing by your side through high school, and he's a good friend who you cannot see as a man.
Your friendship with Jungwoo is indeed a beneficial one, since both of you love science and calculations. You have a study friend and voila you both made it to you best engineering school!
Just as you thought campus life will be lit, since you can “reset" your image, be the fun student on weekend, and study well on weekdays.
But no. You’re overworked with the tasks and quizzes, and to ensure your scholarship is still there, you need a minimum of 3.0 in GPA and that means you’re saying goodbye to parties and hello to enough sleep.
You're mad now when you think of it. Jungwoo has been a cock-block since grade 10 and maybe until today when he finally realized what he had done.
You massage your temple and look in disgust at your unfinished food.
You push your chair back and stand up, “I am mad at you. I don't feel like eating. Good bye Jungwoo..”
“WAIT! i'm sorry I know I was a jerk… but please let me fix it… give me a chance..” he begs you
Your mind is set already, and you shake your head, “I can fix it by myself. So long” you wave and quickly run to the bathroom.
There you let out your emotion in one of the locked toilets and you pull yourself back when you figure a way out to proof them wrong.
You're not the typical book-worm boring mechanical student. You’re you and that will blow the house on fire tonight.
You wash your face in the sink and pamper up yourself from the messy state. You're a fan of make up and you've always had natural looks over your pretty face.
Quickly you draw back your mascara and eye liners, one smack of lip gloss and you're smiling all the way to your next class. Writing.
Johnny greets you in front of the lecture class, he tells you about the upcoming party Lucas will hold this Saturday and Johnny suggests you come and see what it feels like to have some relaxation and fun. He knows midterm has just ended and he is sure you don't have lies to excuse yourself from the invitation.
“Great guess I can make it. Need that fun nights you know. Any theme?”
“Oh, it'll be a costume party since it’s Halloween.” Johnny explains.
You smirk already having lots of ideas in your mind. “Okay see you there then!”
“Nice! Dress up nicely, it's a competition!”
You give him two thumbs up.
--
“Sooo what are you going to wear?” Jungwoo finally gets to talk to you after trying so hard to win your forgiveness.
“I am not going as your couple okay.. I’m going simple this time. I don't want to try too hard.” You smile remembering how you're always prepared for costume parties.
“Let me see, I’ve won Bonnie and Clyde costume… last year we showed up as marry Poppins. Now I just want to enjoy the party.” You plop into your bed and stretch. The party is tomorrow night and Jungwoo is staying over tonight because he needs to finish his costume.
“What? Tell me…” he asks while sticking his props to you don't really know what costume is he going with.
“see me tomorrow okay…”
Jungwoo rolls his eyes when he sees what you appear with tomorrow.
“Seriously?! You’re keeping it a secret. Just to come to the party dressed as a Ravenclaw student!”
You turn around to final check your appearance. Well coming as a Ravenclaw is what you want today.
Jungwoo is by your side ready in his F1 racer costume.
Everything as fun and cool you're having a blast when you see Jungwoo's frats brothers. One man caught your attention when he looks so cute in his Slytherin costume. Your eyes dilate when he flashes a smile to another person, but you caught the smile.
“Whew that is hot.” You whisper to yourself and keep your eyes on him. You never hear Jungwoo talking about him, but seeing him seated nicely between Doyoung and Taeyong, you knew he belongs in that frats. Doyoung and Taeyong are the boys from your music class and they're your best friend.
“hey (y/n)!! Come! We’re playing spin the bottle!” Johnny calls you over to join the table full of 23 men and several girls lounging over the empty seat.
You bring yourself to the seat next to Jungwoo and you're face to face with the cute slytherin boy.
You fix your skirt and calmly cross your legs while watching the man's reaction across you. He was caught watching you but when your eyes met, he quickly averts his gaze away and drinks his cup.
The game starts and you're drowned in alcohols. Well when they ask you stupid personal questions, you're shy to answer, you choose to drink.
Jungwoo keeps on telling you to stop, “Hey enough! You downed three shots .. too fast girl.” He holds your hand before you chug another shot.
Johnny sends a smug look, “Hey Jungwoo why don't you be her dark horse? If you think she drank too much, take a double shot.”
Jungwoo is not the best alcohol drinker and he needs to make sure you got home safe, before he can open his mouth a deep voice makes the whole room move their head to face him.
“I'll take her shots.” The Slytherin boy downs two cups like they were nothing and you catch his ears turning red.
“Thank you…” your voice trails off.
“It's Jaehyun,” he winks.
You pop your lips, “Yeah Jae, thanks!”
The room cheers and starts throwing cat calls to the two of you. You remain calm while deep inside your heart you're dying to squeal and bury your face. Jaehyun on the other side is also turning red, but his sweet smile is still there.
The bottle spins again and this time it points to Jaehyun and he chooses dare.
“Okay Okay this is gonna be fun!!” Mark claps his hands after him and Johnny whisper about the plan.
“Jae, you and the person across you go in that closet and do the 7 minutes in heaven thing… or drink” Johnny clicks his tongue. The room cheers and you can see it's you they meant ..
“Across me?” Jaehyun rubs his neck slowly, he somehow feels shy around you.
“Yeah (y/n)!” Doyoung punches his shoulder, “I'm doing it if I were you"
Taeyong claps his hands and pushes Jaehyun to stand up.
“Just do it!” someone else is also pushing you, it was Lucas.
You did not object and just shrug your shoulder.
Without further ado, you and Jaehyun are forced into the small closet.
They close the door and gosh you hear a click.
It’s dark inside, but somehow there’s a good air circulation at least you two won’t die out of breath.
You can’t really see him, but with the small lights penetrating through the space, you swear your heart is beating super fast. He looks ethereal.
“You good? Sorry they did this to you.” Jaehyun starts the conversation.
You let out a small chuckle, “No..it's fine. I'm okay… I’m not claustrophobic nor afraid of the dark.”
He laughs nervously, “Nice, me too.”
“Thanks for taking my shot earlier.” You try to break the thin air.
“No problem,” he fidgets with his fingers.
“So… are you gonna kiss me or we're keeping this safe?” you slap yourself for saying that out loud. Jaehyun swears he thank the darkness that his burning red face is hidden.
He chokes and coughs, you quickly apologize “Sorry. I didn’t mean to surprise you. Look, I thought you were the kind of guys who will just be straight forward and keep things casual.”
Jaehyun laughs, his laugh sounds sweet you almost melt.
“And I thought you're a shy quiet innocent girl.” He licks his lips. Well he's fast in reading the atmosphere and he knows if the time is right, he'll get that lips he has been eyeing since you entered the room.
You feel your cheek warming, “Ah.. yeah sorry Maybe you don’t see me interesting. I'm just the boring-"
“no. You're not. Girl you're not what people say.”Jaehyun cuts your sentence.
His hands cup your cheeks, “You're brave and oh I am the shyest boy here and I just like girls like you.” He blurts it out.
You feel your heart clench, really a handsome man like him who can win every girl's heart with one smile and wink… is a shy boy?
“You're telling me... you're a shy boy.. even when you can win the girls with one wink and a smile.”
He blushes, “Well… did I win your heart like that??”
You sigh, “Actually you won my heart with the Slytherin coat and you did toss me a smile. My heart somersault when you took my shots.”
He chuckles, “Can I make a confession?”
You nod, “Sure, what happens here stays here.”
He leans closer and whispers, “I've never kissed a girl before and you too look cute little Ravenclaw.”
Your eyes linger to his plump wet lips, you bite yours. Oh gosh you were also a virgin! You've never kissed anyone, but you're going to break that image, right? Tonight, Is the right time you guess.
“May I?” you ask. Fuck the stereotype girls can also start kisses.
Jaehyun did not reply anything instead he brings his hand to cup your face and with one hand in your chin he leans in to mold his lips into yours.
You feel electricity running in your body and your mind is full of stars. Your stomach is doing things and oh you regret not kissing him sooner. His lips indeed taste good and the way he holds your neck is enough to make you squirm.
You open your mouth and his tongue slips in. You're loud. You swear anyone could hear the two of you making out. But his soft touch and his slow head movement makes you crave more.
He almost pulls back thinking you don't want this, but you're faster. You push yourself to him more and run your fingers to his hair. You play with his hair according to how your body tingles by his kiss.
He pulls back to take a short breathing and you smile when the two of you just lean on the walls and take in as much air as you can. Jaehyun feels like crawling into a hole, he just had an intense first kiss with you, the girl he secretly put interest in for the last six months.
“Was I good?” he glances to you.
You smirk, “If this is what I’ll get every time we kiss, I’m addicted already.”
He scoots closer and in that small room, he manages to pull you up on his lap. You chuckle but follow his game.
“Can I taste that soft cherry again?” he whispers hoarsely, and you shudder. Hey, weren’t you going to show how not innocent you are but why are you so pliant and shy under this Shy Slytherin boy?
You peck his lips, “I'm afraid our seven minutes timer is up.”
He brings his hands to your waist, “No one is opening the door yet for us. Might as well seize the opportunity.”
You chuckle, “Good at bargaining huh?” and you lean in for another hot make out session.
“So… can we two be a thing?” he asks with his wet swollen lips.
You put your hands on his shoulder “I don't know. Can a Ravenclaw date a Slytherin?”
He laughs at your obsession of Harry Potter. “I don’t know. Should we test it?”
You bend your neck and hide it on his neck. Inhaling a quick whiff of his musk cologne.
“Well I don’t see anything wrong in trying..”
“I wish I could see your face now. Because right now.. my face is burning… “
“I can feel your heartbeat Honey,” you giggle as you plant your palm over his fast heartbeat.
“Slow down or you'll get a heart attack.” You rub his shoulder blades
“It's getting hot here or is it just me?” he fans his hand
You knock your hand to the door and yell, “Hey guys it's been more than seven minutes! We need air.”
You hear someone shuffle to the door and unlocks it.
You did not move from his lap, you wait til that person is out and when you hear no one else is in the room, you kick the door opens.
Lights come into your peripherals and you quickly close the big room's door.
Jaehyun tosses you a questioning look
You shrug your shoulder, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest place when one turns on the lights.”
“Such a fanatic here!” he picks you up and pushes you to the wall. You can see his starry eyes now under the lights and oh gosh they were so pretty.
You can see his deep dimple showing whenever he gives you a side smile and your hands find their way to cup his face.
Like casted by the love potion you bend your neck to kiss him. His lips is an addiction and you're blaming the alcohol for whatever happens afterward.
“I guess you're going home alone Woo,” Lucas said when he passed by the locked room and his face turns red upon hearing the sinful noises.
Jungwoo chugs down another drink, “Let her, she's big enough to take care of herself.”
“And why are you not bringing her to parties sooner? I thought she was the regular boring student.” Haechan was jealous of Jaehyun. Hell, he found you super intriguing too.
Jungwoo smirks, “Told you she’s not like the others.”
Lucas pats his shoulder, “And you're not the one getting laid. Be patient okay…”
Jungwoo laughs out loud, “Hell no, we're bestie since long time. I can’t see her as a woman. We’re good. Jae can have her.”
Jaehyun looks hot without his coat and after climbing down the high. The best one you two ever had. You were laying down on the big mattress staring to the ceiling and catching breaths with Jaehyun beside you.
“Do you think Jungwoo will hate me?” Jaehyun picks out a cigarette box he found in the closet earlier.
You shake your head, “He'll be happy I got laid finally.”
Jaehyun huffs a cloud of smoke, you ask him “you think the boys will think of me as less? Like maybe they see me as the same cheap sl-"
Jaehyun presses a finger over your lips “No. They don't and won't. They are not that type of men. They respect women's choices. In contrast, I’m sure if they hear our story, they’ll be jealous.”
A small smile comes to your lips, the naughty side of yours is awake. “Oh yeah? Then try it. Tell them about us and see if they're jealous.”
Jaehyun offers you the stick of cigarette, you're not a new smoker. Actually, you smoke sometimes to relax, you smoke a special herbal one… and this is one of it.
“Whaoh you're not a newbie?” he sounds surprised when you did not cough after taking the first smoke.
“I did sometimes the herbal ones.” You blow a cloud of smoke.
“Funny how we have a lot in common, but we just know one another tonight.”
You smile, “in seven minutes actually.”
He hugs you from the side, “Yeah the best seven minutes in heaven.”

Best Decision Ever
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jungkook x Reader
Summary: You meet a pretty boy at the club and promise him that talking to you is the best decision he’ll ever make.
Genre: smut, more smut, pwp, one shot
Warnings: just filthy sexy time with zero chill, holy smokes
Word Count: 4.4k
A/N: JK smut is actually my favorite genre to read. I was inspired to write Good Riddance first, but since GR is a slow burn I thought I’d get straight to the point with this one xD The title is inspired by Hobi’s Grammy statement that liking BTS is the best decision ever. Let me know what you think.
°°°°°°°
„Hey, what’s your name?” you asked the boy lying beneath you as you broke away from your languid kiss. His eyes fluttered as he whispered an inaudible answer. How could anyone be so endearing yet enticing at the same time? You felt yourself melt a little on the inside. You gave him another kiss, this time deeper, your hands winding through his dark curls as you tightened your grip and tilted his face slightly upward, baring his throat.
His chest heaved as you broke apart, his beautiful eyes unfocused, pupils dilated. He looked terrified, but those wide eyes didn’t fool you. You could feel exactly how much he actually enjoyed your little game.
“I can’t hear you. You need to speak up.” You breathed into his ear. Your lips brushed his jawline, your tongue traced along and gave his skin a taste. His breath hitched. You couldn’t wait to hear what other sweet sounds he could make.
“Jeon Jungkook?” He replied shakily, this time a bit louder. Barely.
You lifted your head and gave him an amused look. One of your hands slowly wandered down his bare chest and gave his nipple a playful pinch. You could feel his cock twitch in response beneath you. Your eyes remained focused on his face as you quirked an eyebrow. Are you sure you know your name?
A lovely flush overtook his cheeks. He was so pretty you wanted to scream.
He swallowed; you could see his Adam’s apple bob. A glint of resolve set in his gaze. “M-my name is Jeon Jungkook.” He still sounded nervous, but his hands betrayed his intention as they gave your hips a tight squeeze.
A slow smile spread across your face. “Well, Jeon Jungkook. You’re in luck. I’ll show you why talking to me tonight was the best decision you’ve ever made.”
-------
It was a weekday night and you were in town for a business trip. Your colleague who was supposed to join you on the trip had to cancel last minute. This left you with two choices – spend your evening alone in your hotel room, accompanied by your ever-so-loyal partner called room service or call up a local friend and see what they were up to. Luckily your friend immediately responded and asked if you wanted to join her at the club tonight. You didn’t need much convincing. There’s no better way to unwind from a long day than a few shots and some uninhibited dancing. Your friend rallied a group of people for the night and you all arrived early enough that you still managed to snag a spot in the seated area of the club. At first you didn’t really care about the other people in your group. And you most definitely didn’t pay any closer attention to the handsome boy at the other end of your sofa, who threw you tentative looks all throughout the evening. As the night progressed, the club filled up. Your friend stood up and dragged her boyfriend, under some heavy protesting on his side, to the dancefloor. Some of the other friends joined them while others chatted away. Before you could decide whether you should also hit the dancefloor or strike up a conversation with the new people you met, the boy slid into the vacant spot your friend left behind.
“Hi, Y/N right?” His voice grew shy as you turned your attention towards him. You didn’t know how you hadn’t noticed him earlier. He was really a stunning specimen of a man. His black curls partly fell across his eyes. He wore a loosely fitted dark shirt in which his collarbones peeked through and his tight black jeans left little to your imagination. Fuck, you didn’t even know men could have sexy collarbones.
You gave him a captivating smile. “Hello, stranger.”
The boy responded with a faint, nervous smile of his own. “I-I thought I’d keep you some company since you don’t seem to know anyone else.” He nodded his head slightly toward your friend who was thoroughly enjoying herself.
Maybe you just found an even better way to unwind tonight. “That’s very nice of you,” you replied in an sultry tone. The boy twisted his hands as he searched for what to say next. You decided to relieve him from his misery and asked, “Do you want a drink?” You took the bottle from the table, poured two shots and pushed one glass towards the boy. He wanted to say something more but seemed to be tongue-tied as he took up the glass. “Cheers.” You clinked your glass against his and raised it to your mouth. A warm feeling spread through your throat and stomach. The boy winced slightly as he downed his drink, a drop of it escaped the corner of his lips and started to make its way down his chin. Sexy and cute. You weren’t going to say no to that. You lifted your hand to his face and gently caught the droplet with your finger. He flinched slightly at the unexpected touch, but his look was immediately replaced by something undefinable as you brought your finger to your lips and tasted the alcohol.
“Sweet,” You mused.
You noticed how the look in his eyes shifted. He finally found his words. “Do you want to dance?”
Your smile grew wider. “I thought you’d never ask.”
-------
This was how an hour later a half-naked and breathless Jeon Jungkook ended up in your hotel room bed. You were unmistakably delighted.
His body was splayed out in front of you, his head resting against the soft pillows, his thick hair a dark halo around his face. Your knees straddled his hips on either side as your hands eagerly ran up and down his beautiful chest and abdomen. Your fingertips traced each of his ridges and you could feel goosebumps rise in the trail of your touch, his muscles tensing and releasing under his silky skin. He let out a small whimper. His hands started to wander up your body, exploring your curves, but you could tell he was holding back. You leaned forward and kissed his sexy collarbone. Then you put out your tongue and licked along his throat until you reached his lower lip and bit down. He moaned quietly into your mouth. “You can take it off, you know? Don’t be shy.” Your hips rolled slightly to emphasize your words. A louder moan escaped his lips.
“Oh my god, you’re so hot.” He said almost in anguish. His hand hastily moved up your back and unzipped your dress. He started to peel your dress straps off your shoulders. You sat up to help him, pulling your dress over your head and carelessly throwing it into the corner of the room. His hands stilled for a second around your waist as he admired you on top of him in your black lace underwear. Then he continued his roaming, hands sliding under your bra und lightly squeezing your breast. You gave him a sly smile, “Are you enjoying the view?”
He sat up and started kissing up your neck as he unclasped your bra. “You’re so soft, you smell so good. You have no idea.” he sighed into your skin, sending shivers down your spine. Once he removed your bra, he pulled back so his hungry eyes could take in your naked beauty. His fingers and mouth followed suit. He pinched your left nipple with one hand while his mouth closed around your right nipple and started to suck bruises into your skin. You carded your fingers through his locks and threw your head back in pleasure. Look who was not so shy anymore.
Albeit his obvious desire for you, you were starting to get bored of these playful touches and decided it was time to kick it up a notch. You gave Jungkook a gentle shove on his chest. He fell back against the mattress as you pinned him down. “Play time is over, Jeon Jungkook.” Jungkook’s eyes widened, but then immediately settled on a lazy smile. What a beautiful man, you wanted to see him fall apart underneath your touch.
Slowly you slid down his body, your hands finding his belt. In one swift movement you removed his belt and started to unbutton his jeans. He lifted his hips so you could pull them off. You sat between his legs and your hands started to glide up. Your eyes followed your hands as you explored his irresistible body with fascination. You could feel how his muscles shifted and trembled as you went higher and higher up his thighs. Your hands stopped in their tracks just before you reached his bulge, which was very much straining against his underwear. You glanced up at Jungkook’s face. His eyes were trained on your hands; a cute little furrow formed between his brows as his focus was solely set on anticipating the sensation of your touch. He returned your glance with a desperate look as he realized you stopped. “Please,” he begged feebly.
“Please what? What is it you want, baby?” You teased.
“Please touch me. I want to feel you. You have no idea how hard I am right now. The dancing was torture.” Even his whining was pretty. Almost as pretty as his breathless pants as you ground against him on the dancefloor.
Your hands finally moved up to his bulge, you wrapped your hand around the outline of his cock and gave him a squeeze. “Well if you’re asking so nicely, who am I to refuse you?” He let out a delicious moan. It was like music to your ears.
Your hands pulled back his underwear and his throbbing cock finally sprang free. Damn, why was everything about him so pretty?
Jungkook blushed and chuckled softly as you realized you just said your last thought aloud. His shyness returned as he asked, “Do you really think my cock is nice?” You had other plans with him, but you just couldn’t resist to show him how much you appreciated the art that was his body.
“It’s very nice. I’m sure it also feels nice. Hmm, does it taste nice?” you deliberated giving him a cheeky grin. Jungkook gasped as you lowered your head and started to lick up his length. You gripped him with your right hand as your lips started to take in his head. Your left hand continued roaming up his beautiful torso. Gone were Jungkook’s thoughts as he cursed and clenched his hands around the bedsheet beneath him. You loved how intensely he seemed to respond to your every touch.
Your tongue licked his slit and tasted his precum, you bobbed your head once, twice and released his penis with a loud pop. You were elated as you took in Jungkook’s contorted face. Better pace yourself before the boy came right there and then. You still wanted to have some fun of your own. If he wasn’t naked underneath you, you couldn’t have guessed if he was in pain or pleasure. Maybe it was both. You writhed back up his body, put your hands on either side of his face and gave him another heated kiss. He opened his eyes as you pulled away, his pupils blown even wider. He already looked so breathtakingly fucked out and this was only the beginning. Jungkook’s hands wrapped around your ass and started to knead. He was searching for the friction he lost a second ago as he pushed your pelvis down against his cock. “Why did you stop? You feel so good,” his mouth turned into an adorable pout. Your heart squeezed. Fuck, what did you get yourself into?
Your hand gripped his jaw and shook his head slightly. “Tut, tut. Stop. Sit up for me, baby.” Jungkook wanted to protest but you slapped his hands off of you and sat up, your bodies losing complete contact. He started whining again, but stopped immediately and scrambled against the headboard, as he realized you were taking off your panties. You swung your leg back across his lap and sat back down on his crotch. His length running right against your slit. Your hands found their hold on his shoulders. You tested your position and gave your hip a roll. His cock throbbed at the pressure, you both let out a moan.
“Oh my god, you’re so wet and warm. This feels so good,” he groaned. His hands wrapped around your hips and his fingers dug into your flesh as you started to grind along his body. You moved rhythmically; your pussy coated his length in your wetness. Your lips found their way back to his. Your tongues slid against each other as you feverishly explored the other’s taste. You had to break away after a few moments, both of you breathless from the moans you were trying to hold back while kissing. His abs flexed and you let out a loud cry as his taut muscles rubbed against your clit. His face lit up at your reaction and he slightly shifted his hands and body to heighten the sensation. The tension was building up inside of you, you were grinding down harder and faster against him, thoughts completely scattered as you let your pleasure take over your senses. His nose skimmed along your shoulder as he inhaled your scent of lavender, sweat and sex. It was a jarringly intimate gesture, considering the lewdness you were performing right now. After a few moments his nose was replaced by his mouth and suddenly, he bit down on your skin as he tried to subdue another tormented groan. The sharp sensation in your shoulder only sent your senses further into overdrive. You keened.
“Shit, if you keep this up I’m going to cum. Please let me fuck you. Pl-l-lease.” Jungkook pleaded.
God he was so sexy when he was desperate. You brought his face back to yours and panted against his lips, “Mmmh baby, don’t you want to see me cum first? Be a good boy, if you cum now I’ll have to punish you. I want to feel your pretty cock inside me when you fall apart.” Jungkook’s entire body shuddered as he took in your words, he pressed his lips against yours and started to devour you as if he were starving, all the while flexing his abs to help you reach your climax. All at once, the tight ball in your gut unfurled and a hot wave of pleasure rolled across you body. You screamed with rapture and threw your head back, Jungkook let out another desperate moan against your throat. You slowed down your grinding and gave Jungkook a satisfied smile. The boy looked completely wrecked, you could see a vein straining against his neck as he tried to control his body’s reaction.
“You’re such a good boy. As a reward you get to choose how you want to have me.”
His haze lifted a bit as his eyes turned eager, “Are you sure?” You kissed his lower lip, pulled it between your teeth and purred, “Of course. However you want. Your choice.” His eyes darkened at your words. “Lay on your back.” His voice was hoarse, how cute.
You obediently lifted yourself off him and laid down on the bed. Let’s see what would happen when he took control. He briefly searched for his pants; you heard a crinkle as he opened a condom and slid it over his cock. He quickly returned and hovered over you, right hand stroking down your body as his left arm held him up. His fingers gave your nipples a painful pinch. You yelped in surprise. His gaze turned even darker as he continued to wander down your body.
“Spread your legs.” He commanded, his voice dropping an octave. A shiver went down your spine as you took in this new side. You opened yourself for him. A knowing smile spread across your face. Since you laid eyes on him, you had a feeling he wasn’t just a cute and shy boy. He needed to be riled up and coaxed.
Jungkook noticed your look. He pressed his lips against your ear and growled, “Do you think this is funny? To rub your pussy all over my dick and make a mess while all I’m allowed do is watch? Do you know how much I just want to fuck you into oblivion right now? But I won’t. If I fuck you right now, I don’t think I can last. I want to fuck you so hard you can’t walk anymore. That’s what you deserve for teasing me.” Your smile dropped, you were so incredibly turned on right now you thought you’d combust. Gone was his cuteness. Exactly in this moment, his thumb found your clit and pressed down. Your body arched underneath his touch as he began to rub with vigor. His left hand moved to your hip and pressed it down in place, while his mouth started a trail of kisses down your body. Once he reached your pussy he spread your folds apart and gave you a full lick. Your head turned to the side as you groaned into the pillow and your hands found their way back into his hair. Your hips tried to buck against his face, but his iron grip held you in place.   He burrowed his head between your legs and started to eat you out with a hungry moan. After exploring your folds, his burning tongue started to penetrate you in powerful strokes and his nose nuzzled against your bud as he feasted on your arousal. The tension in your gut started to build up again. Your eyes rolled back in pleasure, he really knew what he was doing.
Then suddenly his mouth was gone. You frantically looked down at his glistening face as he gave you a seemingly angelic smile. This boy was going to be the death of you. You were about to complain when suddenly two of his fingers plunged into your body with a squelching sound. “Jungkook! Fu-uck!”
“Look at you. So delicious, so sweet. So wet, so needy. Isn’t this what you were looking for tonight? A good fuck?” His fingers continued pumping into you faster, curling them occasionally against your walls. Your mind was going blank, your pussy was clenching, you were almost there. “Oh my god, Jungkook!”
Suddenly he stopped again and removed his fingers from your pussy with a wet noise. He moved back up your body and gave you a roguish grin.
“Jungkook, what are you doing?” you asked in a weak voice. You couldn’t contain yourself anymore. Be it his hand or his dick, you had to cum.
“This is what you get for torturing me earlier. You’re so hot right now.” He gave you a chaste kiss on your lips. Your hands pulled at his hair. “Jeon Jungkook,” your voice turned dangerously low. He let out a throaty laugh. “You said however I wanted. Are you enjoying yourself?” You gave him a glare. Fine, he wanted to play?
“A good fuck? I’ll have to assume your cock is only pretty to look at if you won’t fu…” You couldn’t finish your sentence as the air got knocked out of your lungs. Jungkook’s hands suddenly lifted your knees over his shoulders and he surged forward, plunging his length all the way into you.
His breath hit your face as he let out a deep groan. “You just can’t let me win, can you? Happy?” Your hands gripped his shoulders as your body tried to adjust to the sudden new feeling. You felt so full, your thoughts didn’t leave much space for anything else except to revel at the feeling of his cock inside of you. After a moment your hips pushed against his, urging him to move. He slowly pulled back, dragging his cock against your walls in a painfully slow motion. “God you’re so tight. How do you feel so good?”
“Please… Please move.” You’ve never sounded this wanting in your life. He finally showed mercy, lifted your hips higher in a bruising hold and pushed back in with a powerful thrust. Your hands frantically searched purchase around his arms as he started drilling you into the mattress at a blinding pace. For a few long moments the only sound in the room was the incredibly dirty sound of your skin slapping and squelching against each other.  Jungkook’s breath turned ragged, but he showed no intention of slowing down. Your face crumpled in a silent scream, tears sprang into your eyes, as he slightly shifted his position and hit your sweet spot. Your pussy clenched around his dick and he continued to angle his thrusts towards that spot. Your mind was spinning. You couldn’t form proper words anymore and a string nonsense left your mouth, “Jungkoonnng! So hnnng!”
Jungkook continued his brutal pace. One hand slid across your pelvis, found your clit and started rubbing. “You need to cum, baby. I can’t hold out much longer,” he ground through his teeth. You couldn’t take in what he was saying; your mind was too far gone. It hit you like a brick wall. The tension exploded and your orgasm washed over your entire body. You clamped down on him hard, he fell forward at the sensation but continued to thrust into you while his head hung in the crook of your neck. His chest heaved as he continued to chase his own high. Your walls fluttered and your pleasure continued to course through you. Jungkook snapped his hips one last time and came with a long groan. He collapsed onto you and you both lay there gasping for air.
After your breathing slowed down you gently stroked his head and his back. “That was incredible.”
“Mmhm,” Jungkook hummed in lazy agreement.
“Baby, you need to get off of me so I can clean up.” You said softly as you tried to push his heavy body off of yours.
“No.” Jungkook responded petulantly.
“What do you mean no?” This time you shoved a bit harder.
Jungkook wrapped his hands around your wrists and lifted his body.  You noticed the feeling of his cock as he slipped out of you.
“I’m still hard. Turn over.” His deep voice returned.
Your eyes widened, “Jungkook, what do you mean?”
He gripped your body and flipped you over like a doll. You were too surprised to resist. He reached back into his pants and fetched another condom. “You said I could have you however I wanted. And I promised to fuck you so hard you couldn’t walk anymore.”
Jungkook slid behind you, lifted your hips up in the air and spread your legs apart. You were now on your underarms, cheek and chest pressed against the sheets.
“Jungkook I’m not sure I can take another round.” You never thought that you would say these words tonight.
“Shhh, don’t worry. Your pussy seems to disagree. God you’re beautiful from all angles...,” he ran his fingers through your folds and felt the wetness gather there anew. Your body betrayed you as you shuddered against his touch. He slowly grazed his nose along your spine, leaving a few kisses along the way. Once he reached the nape of your neck you felt the roll of his hips as his cock slowly rubbed against your folds. He ran both his hands down your arms, laced his fingers briefly with yours until they found their way back down your spine and rested in a tight grip around your hips. Then without a warning he entered with a fast stroke. He continued to snap his hips against yours, regaining his wild pace, accompanied by grunts every time he pushed back into you. You held onto the sheets with your dear life, having difficulties to hold your upper body in place. You didn’t know anymore which way was up or down.
At some point Jungkook seemed to get tired of you slipping and sliding around due to his forceful thrusts. One of his hands cupped your breast and in one smooth movement he lifted your back up against his chest, your head lolling onto his shoulder as he continued to thrust up into you. You tried to meet his strokes as best as you could as your gut tightened for the third time this evening.
“Kiss me.” He panted. How? You had no idea. But as you promised - what Jungkook wanted, Jungkook got.
It was a messy and wet kiss. At this point you were basically just inhaling each other’s breath and spit, your mouths trying to keep up with the pounding movement of your bodies.
Jungkook grabbed your fingers with his hand which wasn’t holding you upright and started moving it toward your clit. You caught on to his intention and started to rub yourself down under his guidance. You long stopped suppressing the moans which you breathed continuously into his mouth.
Jungkook was also losing his mind. “God you’re so hot. How can you be so hot?” he muttered against your garbled sounds. You were wound so tight, you were going to combust any moment. Then Jungkook’s cock suddenly pulsed inside you as he came hard and strong. For the second time he bit down on your shoulder, this time his own immense pleasure causing wreckage to his body. The mixture of different sensations, his cock pulsing against your walls, the sharp pain of his bite and both your fingers against your clit, caused you to also fall apart in that moment. Everything flashed white as your strongest orgasm yet overtook your senses.
Jungkook dropped his hands and you fell limply against the bed, unable to move a single muscle. A second later his body thumped against the mattress right next to you. You were both plastered in sweat and out of breath.
“You were right.” Jungkook heaved between gulps of air, eyes still somehow bright and shining. “Talking to you was the best decision ever.”
You couldn’t help but laugh as you took in his boyish excitement after the filthiest bouts of sex in your life.
This pretty boy was definitely going to be the death of you.

Red Thread of Fate
I wrote this when I was in a mood but hopefully Paku isn’t too ooc
Soulmate AU
Tumblr media
“The red thread is what connects you to your soulmate, my dear. When the time is right, the rest of it will appear and lead you to them.”
Those were the words your mother had said to you one morning several years ago, after you had woken up to discover a red string wrapped around your left pinky that, no matter how hard you tried, wouldn't come off. When you went to your father about it, he didn't know what you were talking about, unable to see it. Your mother had then pulled you aside and explained it. How everyone was meant to be with someone, but not everybody had the ability to see those connections like the two of you could.
“I waited until our connection revealed itself, and at the end of the thread I found your father,” she had said, “it may take a long time, perhaps even years, but one day, you will find your soulmate at the end of that thread, and I am certain that you will find happiness with them.”
The words she had spoken always stayed with you. Even after moving out of your parent's home and finding a job on the outskirts of a nearby city, every time your eyes drifted to the thread around your pinky, that conversation and musings about your soulmate repeated themselves in your head.
Not only could you see your own thread, but you were able to see the threads that connected others. Just as your mother had said, a red thread connected her to your father. Several of your old friends from high school also had those threads connecting them to their spouses, and part of you wanted to ask them if they could see the threads and knew that they were meant for each other. But you remembered the concerned reaction your father had when you had tried to show him, and so you kept your mouth shut.
Through the years, you weren't surprised to see that couples whose threads weren't attached generally ended up splitting apart. Couples that aren't made for each other never stay together, your mother whispered to you as the two of you watched the couple next door as they argued in their front yard. Their threads weren't connected, and months later, they had divorced. You had been able to make a few calls on some of your friends relationships that way, whenever problems arose with their partners you would subtly push them to end things, and they always came out happier when they did.
But as you saw those around you connecting and finding their own soulmates, your thread remained as a small circle around your finger.
That was the most likely reason why the self-doubt within you had formed. Seeing everyone else find their soulmates without even trying, while you knew what it was that brought people together but were left alone, the thread that tied you to your soulmate staying invisible.
Your mother had forbade you from dating after she found out you could see the thread, citing that she didn't want you wasting your time on anyone who wasn't your soulmate. The remainder of your high school years had left you feeling empty in terms of romance. Even after moving out, you kept out of the dating scene, your mother's instruction ingrained into you as you waited for the rest of the thread to appear. You were pinning all of your hopes onto your unknown soulmate, you realized, and then you had a terrible thought:
What if your soulmate didn't like you?
What if they hated you?
What if when you did finally meet them, they just didn't want to be in a relationship with you?
Your mother had insisted that you would find happiness with them, but she could be wrong. She was wrong a lot actually, and there was now the possibility in your mind that maybe you had wasted too much of your life pinning your hopes on your soulmate and in the end would only be left with disappointment. But by now you weren't sure of what else to do, as you were still unwilling to reach out to see if anyone else was aware of the soulmate connection.
So for now, you maintained your course, trying to keep your outlook positive while those fears simmered in the back of your mind.
Life had a certain monotonous quality to it. You went to work, you did your studies, you hung out with friends in the time that was left, over and over again. And in the quiet moments, you would look at the thread, waiting to see if there was any change.
So when something different finally did happen, you were caught completely off-guard.
It was a late-afternoon on a weekday, with very few customers coming in to the store where you worked. You had been in the process of pretending to work to avoid getting a talking to from your manager about being lazy, wiping down a surface that didn't need it as you waited for the time to go by, and you'd glanced down at your hand.
There was a thread coming off of the one on your pinky, trailing along the the tiled floor and out onto the sidewalk outside.
It was finally happening. You could finally see it, finally use that connecting thread to find your soulmate.
The universe must have also been waiting for this moment, because shortly after your manager approached you and asked if you wanted to leave work early. You jumped at the chance with such enthusiasm that it surprised him.
“Everything all right?” he asked.
“Something came up,” you answered, already heading to the back.
Stuffing your work uniform into your bag, you began to follow the thread once you made it outside. The trail was straightforward, but it appeared as though it went on for several blocks. After a few minutes, it took a turn to the left, the end still nowhere in sight.
With a small sigh, you made your way forward. You'd waited this long, after all.
The thread you followed vanished as you made your way along, flowing up and disappearing into the thread around your finger. As you made your way through the streets, you tuned out the world around you which left you alone with your thoughts, and those ugly questions popped up again. What would you do if they didn't like you? How do you even approach them? Since it was obvious your ability to see the soulmate connection was rare, it seemed unlikely to you that they would be able to tell that it existed at all. And you couldn't just go up to them and tell them that the two of you were soulmates. Your palms began to sweat as you wondered if doing this was a bad idea; maybe you weren't actually meant to see this thread and should just let fate handle everything. But after all of this time, you at least wanted to see who it was you were meant to be with.
The thread trail began to grow taught the further you went – that meant you were getting close, right?
You were in a nicer area of the city now, one in which you felt vastly out of place. And based off some of the glances you caught people giving you, you must have looked out of place as well.
Another turn at a corner, and you saw the trail lead up the steps of a.... Museum?
There was a large number of people gathered at the front, all appearing to be waiting to go inside. The banners on the building indicated that something new was being displayed, but that mattered very little to you as you saw the thread disappear into the crowd. You kept to the side of the stairs, dipping past the people who were situated on the steps as you looked for who the thread connected to. It would be a problem if your soulmate was already inside the museum, as you doubted you would be able to get inside with how you were dressed. Would you have to wait for them to come back outside? You doubted museum security would let you do that if they were in there for hours.
Those worries turned out to not matter, as you stepped behind a group on the landing outside the entrance and saw the end of the thread, and the woman it was attached to.
Tall and slender in a suit top and skirt with short blonde hair and an aquiline nose, she was speaking to a man with slicked back hair and a long black coat. You were too far away to hear what they were saying, but she had a serious expression on her face, and you noticed she appeared to be scanning the crowd around her. Was this person really your soulmate? You checked again, looking at the thread that hung from your pinky.
She was. No question about it.
Already you felt that she was far more intimidating than you could have anticipated, and you wracked your brain trying to figure out how you could approach someone like her.
You noticed that she glanced down at her hand, and then she did a double-take. Was she.... Was she looking at the thread? Her eyes were clearly trailing along the thread's path.
She could see it?
Then her eyes met yours, and she looked at you with a muted surprise. Your expression was likely similar – you hadn't counted on your soulmate on being able to see the thread, and at the moment you could do little more than stare at her.
The man she had been talking to was looking at you now as well, having noticed her reaction. They were speaking again, but they kept their eyes on you. It only caused you more confusion. What were they saying? Who was he? Who was he to her? Could he also see the thread? Was it possible that you had run into two people in one day who could do that?
You stayed still, watching, unsure of what to do. Then the man said something, to which your soulmate nodded. He then turned and walked over to the museum doors, but not before looking at you with a small smile.
Your attention was quickly brought back to your soulmate as she approached you.
Oh God this was really happening.
“Umm.... Hello?”
Your first words to her sounded pathetic. That was what you thought the instant they fell out of your mouth. But if she felt the same way she didn't show it.
“Hello,” she responded. A warm smile graced her lips.
You opened your mouth, trying to say something – anything – when you were bumped from behind. You only stumbled forward a few steps before she steadied you, her hands on your shoulders. The woman who had bumped into you didn't even acknowledge you, content to continue on her way.
“We should find someplace else to talk,” you soulmate said, and you nodded in agreement. With an arm wrapped around your shoulder, she led you through the crowd of people and back down the steps. She kept that arm around you until you were a good distance away from the museum, pulling away once the two of you had found a secluded spot next to a building.
“So......”
Was all you were able to say once the two of you had stopped. After all those years of wondering about this moment, the things you would say to your soulmate, and you could barely get a word out.
“So?” she repeated, her head tilting slightly.
“You can see it?” you asked.
That was a stupid question, you told yourself. Of course she could see it. That was why she came up to you.
“Yeah, I can,” she nodded, “but I'm more surprised that you're able to. How long have you been able to do that?”
“Since years ago. My mother is also able to see the threads, so I thought it was just something the two of us could do.”
“A lot more people have that ability than you may think.”
“Really? How long have you-”
Your words were interrupted by the growl of your stomach.
You wanted nothing more than for the ground to open up beneath you and swallow you whole.
“I'm sorry,” you mumbled, your cheeks growing red.
“Don't worry about it,” she said, chuckling, “I guess food is in order; do you know anything around here that's good?”
You shook your head.
“I'm not familiar with this area, so....”
“That's fine. We can just walk until we find something. My treat.”
She motioned with her head to follow, and the two of you made your way down the sidewalk once again. You should have been on the lookout for some sort of restaurant where the two of you could properly sit and have a conversation, but your gaze kept going back to her, a million questions running through your head.
“Do you not live around here, then?” you asked.
“No. I'm only in town for some business.”
“Business? Wait, that wasn't why you were at that museum, was it?”
“It was.”
She didn't sound angry or even a little agitated, but guilt from pulling her away from a possible job hit you.
“I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt you if you were doing something important.”
“It's not a problem,” she said, “you take precedence.”
Despite her words, you were still worried.
“Won't you get in trouble for leaving?”
She chuckled again.
“No. My boss was very understanding.”
Boss? You wondered if it was the man she had been speaking to, given that he was the only one who you had seen her with. Questions on who he was and what exactly she did for a living were about to spill out of your mouth before she interrupted you.
“What about you? You didn't skip work just to hunt me down, did you?”
“Ah, no. It was slow, so I was able to leave early.”
“And where do you work?”
“A small store on the other side of the city. It doesn't pay all that well, but it's about as good as I can get.”
“I see.”
The two of you continued to walk, with her being the only one still looking for a place to eat. Maybe you were overreacting, but you swore you could hear a bit of disdain in her voice in her last response. The self-doubt that had been in the back of your mind for years began to show its head, and you were caught up once more in the worry that your soulmate didn't like you. That you weren't good enough for her. Reflecting on the actions that had lead to this point, you wondered if you had gone with the most selfish route. You had literally tracked her down and had forced her to acknowledge you, even if the second part had been unintentional. And now, even though the two of you knew nothing about each other, she had put business on hold and was even taking you out for a meal. Were you just causing her problems?
“What's wrong?”
Her voice snapped you out of your thoughts, and you realized that you had stopped walking. She stood before you, her head tilted in concern.
“Are you not feeling well?” she asked.
“No, it's just..... I'm sorry,” you said.
She blinked in surprise.
“For what?”
“I just.... I'm.... Worried that this is a disappointment for you,” you mumbled.
“You're clearly a lot better off than I am, and I don't have much to offer you, in terms of..... Well, anything really,” you continued, “I don't want to just barge into your life and disrupt it. So, if you don't want anything to do with me, I completely under-”
A finger to your lips stopped your rambling, and you looked back up at her.
“You apologize too much,” she said after a beat, taking her finger away. The urge to give her another apology rose up, but you bit your lip as you realized you would be in that awkward position where you apologized for apologizing.
She seemed to sense your turmoil, as she brought her hand back to cup your cheek, and you felt the urge to lean into it.
“I'm not disappointed in the slightest,” she said, “I'm very glad that you came to find me; I can't wait to learn more about you.”
The blush from earlier returned to your face and you found it hard to keep eye contact with her, your eyes turning to the concrete sidewalk as she smiled at you. You were at a loss for words once again, but she didn't push you to respond. She wrapped her arm around your shoulder and pulled you forward.
“I think there's a place we can eat at up ahead. Let's go check it out, okay?”
You nodded in response, keeping up with her pace as she kept her arm around you.
Another thought occurred to you.
“What's your name?” you asked.
“Ah. We somehow didn't get to that, did we?” she laughed.
“I'm Pakunoda. And you?”
The way she looked at you was nothing other than loving, and you felt your heart flutter at the way she repeated your name after you told her. All of the doubts that had grown over the years were quashed in an instant. Pakunoda wanted to be with you. She was happy the two of you had met. Everything was going to be fine.
That had been too close for comfort, Pakunoda thought to herself. Had she not happened to be at the museum's entrance speaking to Chrollo, she could have missed you entirely, and that left open a slight chance that you could have gotten into the museum and then be slaughtered like the rest of the guests. It was doubtful that the rest of the troupe would have been paying attention to such a thing, and would have left her with her nen abilities gone.
She had noticed that the thread appeared shortly after she and the rest of the troupe had arrived at the museum's back entrance for their current heist, but the thread had been completely slack and leading in the opposite direction, and she just assumed that she could leave it until afterwards and then track you down. But never had she counted on you being able to see it, much less you going out in search of her. Especially when you clearly didn't have much in terms of a nen ability. You didn't even know that you were using gyo to see the thread between the two of you.
Paku would explain it to you eventually and help you develop your skills, though it she didn't plan on ever having you participate in any heists. Like the other soulmates for the troupe, if you had nen then you needed to be trained enough so you could defend yourself.
The two of you were sitting in a booth at the very back of a small restaurant, you telling stories about your life that you clearly felt were too mundane while she listened and smiled at you, silently encouraging you to open up to her. Although in truth she was only half-listening. While she had played it off that this situation hadn't affected her in the slightest, her own emotions were running wild over your meeting, though for reasons much different than yours. For the troupe, finding one's soulmate was something that was necessary to ensure that one's nen couldn't be lost due to a soulmate's untimely death. At worst, a soulmate was a burden; something that needed to be protected just so one could ensure their abilities wouldn't just vanish one day. And while Pakunoda didn't view the concept as harshly as some of the others, she did understand the sentiment.
But when she had seen the way you had been pushed forward, Paku's first thought was that she should blast the head off of the woman who had bumped into you.
A brief moment of irrationality that she had quickly managed to quell, instead just taking you away from that area. She wasn't used to feeling such rage over such a small action, especially one over someone who was still a stranger to her. Paku would be the first to admit that she didn't open up easily to others, and yet she had been ready to kill for you within seconds of meeting you. There had clearly been more to the soulmate bond than she had initially thought.
As you continued to talk, she glanced up at a clock on the wall – their operation at the museum would have started by now, the patrons dead or in the process of dying. Pakunoda's eyes narrowed at the thought of the woman who had pushed you being killed in various ways, depending on who she came across.
“Is everything alright?”
Your voice brought her back, and she realized she had been smiling at the thought. She quickly wiped it away, shaking her head and giving you a more genuine smile.
“I'm fine,” she said.
“You bring out a side of me I didn't even know I had.”
You blushed, taking a swig out of your drink as you avoided her gaze while the darker implications of her words flew over your head. The warm feelings of affection began to fill Pakunoda again as she watched your reactions. So uncertain but so clearly head over heels for her.
She decided then that she would hold off on letting you know about the troupe. At least for as long as she was able to. From what you had said about your job, you didn't seem to like it, so it would be easy enough to get you to quit if she began to provide for you. Then it would just be a matter of moving you somewhere else, somewhere more out of the way where you would be off the radar. Pakunoda knew she would need to tell you the truth eventually. There was no lie she would be able to come up with to explain away her “job”. But by that point, she hoped that you would love her enough to overlook it.
The thread that connected you to her spanned across the table. She reached over to cover your hand with her own, and you smiled, the sight of you doing so warming her heart.
Everything was going to be fine.

“ ‘Kay, so there’s no way they’re gonna win this game without him turning into the Wolf, right?”
“Finish watching it, Peter.”
Peter musingly shakes his head, mouthful of his fourth slice of pizza. “There’s no way.”
You level a patient smirk at him and point to the television, wordlessly telling him to see for himself.
The screen’s brightness fills your otherwise dark living room, casting shadows along the angles of Peter’s concentrated face. His body is sloped forward, and if he didn’t possess the body control of an enhanced being, he’d fall face-first into your carpet.
Tonight’s movie selection was your choice, and you didn’t want to disappoint. So when Peter said he’d never seen Teen Wolf, you were over the moon. Usually, you’d watch every single second of the classic film, but with Peter sitting cross-legged next to you, his hip pressed against yours as your crossed leg rests on top of his, you spent the entire time covertly peeking at his fascinated expressions.
Well into the third month of your friendship, Peter’s presence in your apartment remains to be an odd sight in a good way. Out of your ordinary. His first time in your apartment came on a day you both chose to escape the sun’s sweltering heat with A/C and ice cream, and like your first conversation in Hal’s, he never made it weird.
It was effortless. Every moment with Peter was like breathing.
If anyone else suggested Friday-night movie nights, you’d have spared no time shutting them down. But your yes to Peter harbored no resistance.
“No way!” An excited smile spreads across Peter’s face as Scott steps to the baseline to take the game-winning free throw shots. “Is he seriously gonna make these?”
You seal your lips, choosing not to spoil the moment, but Peter doesn’t see. His eyes never stray from the screen, and his lips slightly part from the nail-biting suspense. As the last shot falls through the hoop, Peter’s whole jaw drops.
When the end credits roll, he slowly claps. “That was awesome. Like I’ve got some serious chills. How am I going to top that?”
“Eh, you probably won’t,” you reply with a boastful grin. Hidden joy thrums through your body from his excitement. “Might as well call a wrap on movie nights.”
Peter playfully nudges you with his elbow, then checks his watch. “Ah, man, it’s late. I needed to be on patrol half an hour ago.” He’s up in a flash, slipping his shoes on and chewing up the rest of his pizza.
“Do you have to go?” A hint of sadness tinges your words.
“Yeah, the city would be a mess without me,” he jokes, but you weren’t remiss of his undertone sincerity. “Oh! That reminds me. Some bad guys are out on a robbing spree lately, tailing people at night, so if you work late, can you ask Chris to walk you home? Y’know, just in case I’m not there.”
He does this every time he’s over. Each week, there’s a new thing or group to be leery of, and each time he asks, you immediately nod to erase the gut-sinking concern in his brown eyes.
You rise from the couch and follow Peter to the door. He turns just as he’s about to twist the handle, stalls for a second, then envelopes you into a small, reluctant hug, leaving his arms lax just in case you wanted to pull away.
Hugging is new, something you’ve only done about five times. The first was an unplanned disaster featuring a hard shove, repeated apologies, and a long, awkward moment of silence.
You didn’t mean to push him away. It was one of those moments where, even though the urge to reciprocate was there, you couldn’t allow yourself to find comfort in such an innocent gesture. You weren’t ready. He respected that.
You knew your rash reaction bruised Peter more than he let on, but he learned to ease his way into your comfort zone with small touches. An intentional brush of his hand against yours, scooching closer to you on the couch, hi-fives with minimally laced fingers.
It took a while for the second hug-attempt, but you were cautiously prepared when it happened.
This time around, you return the gesture, winding your arms around his middle and setting your chin on his shoulder, resisting the urge to nuzzle your nose against his warm neck. His closeness frazzles you, even more so when he diminishes the gap between you, holding you tighter to his chest before releasing you and clearing his throat.
“Be safe,” you warn softly.
He puffs out his chest. “I have nothing to fear except fear itself.”
“That confident, huh?”
“Comes with the job. You get knocked down enough times, you get pretty confident once you realize you can always get back up.”
You raise an eyebrow. “Uh-huh. And yet you still have a fear of heights.”
“Never said I wasn’t afraid of falling. Just that it gets easier getting back up. ‘Sides, most of those petty offenders scare easy. All I gotta do is say I can plant eggs in ‘em.” He shudders at the idea himself.
“Please, Peter,” you implore, a smile sullying your stern frown.
Peter’s grin, always so wholesome and calming, blankets over your nerves. “I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me.”
“Well, I think Spider-Man needs someone to worry about him, sometimes. Even if he can get back up. Just… let caution work alongside confidence.”
He heeds your words with a more allayed smile, curtly nodding. “Vigilance. I can do that.”
You’re tempted to wrap him back into your arms to protect him from whatever dangers lie outside of your apartment. Instead, you exchange simple goodnights and shut the door once he reaches the stairwell.
The room and your shirt preserve his crisp evergreen scent long after he’s gone. It lingers as you crawl into bed. An aromatic reminder of his caress and warm skin.
As far as friendships go, you’ve never had one quite like this. The line you drew in the sand moves. Accommodates. Shrinks. Whether he’s aware of it or not, the time you spend cracking jokes with Peter at Hal’s, listening to his adventurous feats, becoming comfortable with his physical proximity, seeing his smile and the way his eyes light up when you smile at something funny or interesting he’s said, you fall just an inch.
He's growing on you. His presence. His laughter. His beaconing smile. His tentative touch. His uncanny ability to endear himself to your foreclosed heart.
It was easier to deny the connection when you didn’t know Peter. But now that you do, every moment you’re with him intensifies what you’ve painstakingly tried to avoid.
You’re falling in love with your Soulmate.
✦ ✧✦ ✧
Once again, it’s the Saturday brunch rush, and once again, Hal’s is up to its neck in bloodthirsty customers. All the booths are packed, as well as the stools. Some of the parties compact a seat meant for two with four people, and the aisle clogs with those who just came to grab a cup of coffee and conversation.
Chris is in his element, swinging from one booth to the next like a controlled tornado collecting orders, while you and Wendy are the unfortunate bunch who have to clean up desecrated tables and feed the greedy.
“If someone asks me what the specials are one more time, I’m going to rip my hair out,” Wendy grouses behind the counter as she puts away five menus.
You grumble back the same sentiments. Menus exist for a reason. And most of these people aren’t new to Hal’s, so the fact that they always have to ask grinds your gears.
11:30 a.m. is your saving grace. If you can hold on until Peter gets here, you’ll be fine.
Chris stops by the bar, pocketing what appears to be a twenty-dollar bill. “Lighten up, ladies. At least you’re off tomorrow.”
Wendy, in her 5’3’’ stature, looks feral. “I want to be off now.”
A rowdy group of high-schoolers sitting in the farthest booth is holding a contest to see who could drink a milkshake the fastest, and the two unlucky contestants shriek like banshees from self-inflicted brain-freeze. All three of you wince.
“We don’t get paid enough for this.”
Hal shouts from the back. “Order up! And stop slackin’ off out there!”
Wendy’s eye twitches as she marches to the back to pick up the orders. You’d have acted the same way if you didn’t have something to look forward to.
“They’re not going to tip me. I just know it,” Chris says to you, despondently looking over at the teens’ table again.
“They’ll come around. No one can resist this moneymaker.” You lightly bump him on the chin to indicate his smile. Heck, his whole chiseled face is a moneymaker, but that exuberant smile sells it all.
Over the last three months, just like your friendship with Peter, your friendship with Chris has improved. Even with Wendy. You aren’t at each other’s throats nearly as much as you used to be. Last week, she complimented your hairstyle, though it was immediately followed up with a snide comment: progress, either way.
Chris laughs. “And here I thought my friendly personality racked up all the tips.”
“It’s a bonus.”
He chuckles again, then blows out a hesitant breath. “So, Y/N…”
“So, Chris…”
“There’s, um, there’s gonna be another music festival in Cunningham Park tonight, and I was wondering if, y’know, you and Peter might want to come and hang?”
You and Peter… As if you were a pair. An item. A couple. To unsuspecting eyes, you knew you and Peter seemed to be just really good friends. Not even Hal questioned why you spent half an hour talking to him every weekday. If he had an inkling of who Peter actually was to you, he’d have confronted you by now.
Chris, on the other hand, kept a sharp eye on you when Peter was around. As meticulous as you were about keeping up pretenses in public, sometimes you’d slip. Your smile would be a tad too bright when Peter walked through the door and took his usual seat. You’d giggle at his jokes too loud. You’d stare into his eyes too long. Signs too blatant for Chris to miss.
You’re just waiting for him to put the last piece in the puzzle.
“I’d… I’d have to ask Peter.” You take a deep breath. Here goes nothing. “But, yeah, I’ll go.”
“Wait, seriously?”
“Sure. Sounds like it’ll be fun. What time is it?”
Chris lays a hand on your forehead. “Temp seems fine. Pupils aren’t dilated. How many fingers am I holding up?”
You swat his hand down with a laugh. “Shut up.”
“Look, I know you probably don’t want me saying this out loud, but I’m glad you met Peter. We all are.”
“Why?” Evidently, you’re not that great at hiding your feelings as you thought.
Chris leans against the bar top, keeping an eye on the door just in case customers walked in. “Well, for starters, you literally just agreed to hang out with me for the first time since you started working here, which was—what—two years ago. And… you… I don’t know. You’re more open, y’know? Smiling and such.”
“I smiled before,” you say, a little defensive.
“Not like you do now. Before, it was all—,” Chris screws his mouth up. It’s strange. Alienated and wire-tight. The corners of his lips don’t fully come up, and it barely reaches his eyes. You instantly recognize it—the smile you hid behind.
Did you really smile like that? How is it that you never noticed how off-putting it was? If a server ever smiled at you like that, you’d assume they wished you disappeared off the face of the earth. Is that the smile people saw? More importantly, when did you stop putting it on?
“Two more strawberry milkshakes over here!” shouted one of the brain-freeze victims.
Chris hops to it. Always the perfect server. On his way to make the shakes, he says, “7 p.m.”
“I’ll be there.”
You weren’t going to confirm for Peter until he was there to answer for himself, but he doesn’t show. 11:30 a.m. and the rest of your shift flies by without a sight of him, which is strange, but not uncommon. Homework might have him tied up. September is a pretty busy month for schoolwork, and mid-terms are approaching, so he might be buried in assignments.
Worry doesn’t settle in until you’re getting ready for the music festival at 6:30 p.m., and Peter still hasn’t sent so much as a voicemail.
Evening summer sunlight filters in through your open window, the active sounds of Queens’ busy streets and subway station not allowing your room to fall quiet. Nights like this are perfect for outdoor festivals because it’s warm enough to sit in the grass and not bring a jacket.
Rather than enjoy the idea of getting out for the first time in years, your mind remains hooked on Peter.
It’s not like him not to leave a text if he’s caught up in other things. He’d make sure to tell you where he is, how far away. Since the beginning of this friendship, starting with his little notes, Peter’s constant communication wasn’t something you expected. But now that you do, this behavior just doesn’t match what you’re used to.
You pace the floor of your small bedroom, back and forth, wall to wall, abusively chewing your lower lip and turning your phone around in your hand, working up the nerve to call him, summoning up the will to voice your concern if he did answer.
When you do call, you get his voicemail. Trying again, you end up with the same result. Okay. He’s not picking up his phone.
Fear foregrounds your frustration. It bleeds into your words as you leave your fifth message. One after the other, they morph from mild concern to despairing panic. As the sun dips lower and lower on the horizon and the orange sunlight dwindles, so does your desire to go out.
Because… maybe you shouldn’t go. Maybe you should search for Peter. Finding any trace of him at all would be a stretch, and Chris might be upset about you ditching your plans the next time you see him, but you can’t possibly go out knowing something may be horribly wrong with Peter.
No. No, you won’t cancel plans like that. Peter is fine. Of course, he’s fine. He’s Spider-Man. His duties as a hero come first, no matter what. And he wouldn’t want you to stress so much about him.
Wherever he is, whatever he’s doing, he is okay. He’s alive. You feel it.
Somehow, you break the trance of your pacing and convince yourself to grab a cab ride to the park. When you arrive, the festival appears to be at a content standstill. It’s not as crowded as you assumed it would be for a Saturday night. Many of the attendants, ranging from all ages, are sitting on the grass, soaking up the fading rays of the sun while the bands finish up prepping. You’re greeted by the distinctive smell of hotdog vendors intermingled with ripening leaves.
There is nothing truly scenic about Cunningham Park, aside from the interspersed trees and trails. You’d been here a handful of times when you were younger, hanging out with friends during summer break, and one thing you loved about the park back then is how the sun shone through the leaves, casting an ethereal glow on nature.
You’re more appreciative of its beauty without the sun’s effect.
It wasn’t that hard finding Chris. All you had to do was look for the person most likely garnering friends from other groups. He’s on a blanket, seated in the center of the crowd and chatting with a group of three people.
When you’re close enough to be spotted, Chris’s face mouth out into a wide smile.
“You came!” Then his eyes roamed around. “Where’s Peter?”
You try for a carefree grin but let it fall when the effort became too much. “He couldn’t make it. School stuff.”
“Oh, well, that’s fine.” His smile drops fractionally, less joyful and more sympathetic. “I’m really glad you made it. Hey, guys. This is Y/N, my friend from work.”
You wave a little and hope for a genuine smile to grace your lips as they all scoot to make room for you on the blanket.
Chris introduces them all. He points to a buff, curly-haired guy named Dez, who you wouldn’t have guessed would be the type of guy to enjoy small park festivals. He looks like the kind of person who regularly crowd-surfs at huge concerts and somehow always winds up with a VIP pass. The next person is a slender girl named Asha, who has thick black hair knotted into a messy soccer bun and a glowing smile.
The last person Chris introduces you to is his Soulmate. You knew just by the way he said his name. Resounding. Reverent. Borderline fanatic. His name is Quint, and unlike the others, he wraps you up in a surprising hug. What’s even more surprising is you hugging back.
“Nice to finally meet you.” His voice is richly robust, exactly how you would expect someone with his Adonis-like face to sound. Two gorgeous, outgoing Soulmates just seems unfair.
“Nice to meet you, too.” You can’t help looking from Quint’s face to Chris’s, then back again, and wondering if this is what people see when they see you and Peter—a perfect match. “Chris has told me a lot about you. All great things.”
“He better,” Quint says, jokingly gazing at Chris as a blush flared across Chris’s cheeks. “And he’s told me a lot about you and Peter.”
There it goes again: people pairing you two. It’s hard not to notice how natural that sounds, as though you two were meant to be spoken about as an inseparable whole.
You brush off your startled expression as best you can and ask, “Good things, right?”
He nods, then shares a smile with Chris. “I would’ve liked to meet him.” You roughly translate that to mean, ‘I would’ve liked to meet you both.’ The blush on Chris’s face deepens into an embarrassingly bright shade of red when he catches your eye.
A plucked, low-pitched guitar string echoes out to the crowd and effectively commences the start of the music festival. You must’ve missed the band's introduction because they got right into their music, playing a melancholic pop song that sounded pretty good. You were more interested in the guitar riffs and melodic piano notes than the lyrics, but they’re no doubt about love.
Halfway into their set, your stomach growls, and you remember that you didn’t have anything to eat since you got off work. The whole thing with Peter staved off your hunger. He’s still in the front of your mind, but you’re doing your best to enjoy the night with Chris and his friends.
Standing up, you tell Chris, “I’m gonna get a hotdog.”
He tilts his chin up in acknowledgment, then goes back to swaying his head to the music.
You got up just in time to beat the line. There are only two vendors in the park, and they’d be slammed once the music hits its intermission. The one you’re at resides near the outskirts of the crowd, closest to where you left the group, and two people are in front of you.
You wish Peter were here.
Your hand touches the outline of your phone in your back pocket while you wrestle with the idea of calling him again. Maybe he’ll pick up this time.
You’re just about to unlock your phone when you hear someone calling your name—a girl.
The voice gets closer and more breathless, like they’re running at you full speed ahead and couldn’t reach you fast enough. You turn to the sound just as the body slams into you, yanking you out of line and clutching you to their frame.
“Where the hell have you been?!”
You pull away and stare straight into her face, not trusting your own eyes. “Manda?"

Frozen For Love
Word Count: 1,830
Nines didn’t remember how they got there but at that point it no longer mattered. He remembered entering the freezer, following the trail of a case. Gavin came in to ask what was taking so long with Nines’ investigation and the door had been shut behind them.
Gavin had pounded on the door while Nines scanned it, trying to find a way to unlock it from the inside. “Detective, it seems that the internal release was tampered with.”
Gavin swore, kicking the door once more before beginning to pace.
“It makes sense,” Nines continued. “The victim was found in here, frozen. It’s only logical that the locking mechanism was broken at the time as well. It might even be the cause of death.”
Gavin made a fist but didn’t swing. Yet. Nines could see his rage and stress levels rising even as his temperature dropped. Looking around, he found a suitable place to sit, a nook in between a few bags that would provide some heat. He sat, legs splaying out in front of him.
“Detective, come here. It’s imperative that your body temperature not drop too far or else you could become hypothermic.” As annoying as the man could be, Nines felt distress at the idea of him being sick or injured in any way.
Gavin paced for a few more steps, ice crunching beneath his shoes, before he sighed. Nines noted the frost of breath as he sighed. Gavin’s pacing slowed until he was simply standing, hands on his hips. Nines held out his hands, providing a space for Gavin to sit down. Gavin sighed again and moved to sit down, his back to Nines’ chest. Nines curled his arms around Gavin, holding him close.
Nines closed his eyes and turned his attention inward, pushing as much heat as he could toward his front. Biocomponents sent messages to his HUD, some saying there wasn’t enough heat to function, others that there was too much heat. He pushed them all away and continued to redirect his heat into his chest and arms, hoping to warm Gavin like that.
“Gavin, you’d conserve more heat by taking off your coat and using it as a blanket.” Even as he spoke, Nines had already taken off his own jacket and passed it over for Gavin to layer up.
Gavin startled but took the coat, slipping his arms out of his own and pulling them both over himself, curling his legs close to his chest to conserve energy. Nines blinked away another warning that a biocomponent was too cold.
They sat in silence for a while before Gavin chuckled. “How long do you think it’ll be before people come to find us?” His voice was light, but strained.
Nines did a few quick calculations. “I estimate an hour, maybe two. We entered in the middle of the day and the kitchen is busy as this is a weekday. It shouldn’t be long before someone needs to access something in here.” Nines hoped he was right. He hoped they wouldn’t have to last longer than two hours. He wasn’t sure if Gavin could last longer than two hours.
Gavin nodded, resting his head back on Nines shoulder. Every time he breathed, Nines watched a small cloud of frost exit him. “I hope you’re right, tin can.”
Nines tightened his arms around Gavin, searching himself for any other source of heat he could transfer to his front to help Gavin stay warm. He placed his forehead on Gavin’s shoulder, letting his breath go down his neck in the hopes of providing just that much more warmth. His only mission objective right now was to protect Gavin Reed.
~~~~
Nines had said it would be two hours. According to Gavin’s watch, it was going on four now. He sighed, tired of counting the bags of nondescript food within his eye line. He didn’t think he’d ever get the number 54, the exact number of said bags, out of his head for a while.
“Hey, tin can? Tell me a joke.” There was no bite to the words, all of his fight being put into staying alive.
Gavin expected him to come back with some quip about amusing himself or complaining of being called ‘tin can’. Instead, Nines didn’t even respond. Gavin turned his head, expecting to see Nines’ tired face. The android’s LED was a glaring red and his eyes were unfocused.
Gavin shifted to his knees, throwing the coats off himself and turning to cradle Nines’ face in his hands. “Hey, hey, are you alright?” As much as he wanted to stay steady, as much as he wanted to pretend that he hated him, Gavin couldn’t keep the trembling out of his voice.
He tilted Nines’ head up, trying to see what was going on. His fingers brushed the back of Nines’ neck and found it as cold as the ice he was leaning against. Gavin gasped and pulled back a bit but forged on, hoping it was just because he was sitting with his back to ice that he felt cold.
Gavin put a hand on Nines’ chest and felt the heat he’d been feeling the whole time. His other hand rubbed a thumb across Nines’ cheek. Gavin looked back up at him and noticed the ice crystals that had gathered on the android’s eyelashes, gently wiping them away with his fingertips.
“Come on, tin can. Talk to me!” Gavin shook him a bit, panicking now. He stood, stumbling back over the discarded coats. Looking down at them, Gavin felt like he was in a daze. He slowly reached down and picked them up. Throwing Nines’ coat around his shoulders and holding the white fabric with one hand, he wrapped his own coat around Nines’ shoulders in an attempt to warm him up.
Gavin stumbled over to the door, his legs feeling numb. He banged on the door with his fist, needing to get the attention of anyone at this point. He screamed until his voice was raw, banged until he saw the ice turn red, and still no one came.
Just as he was starting to pass out, a click happened and the lock opened. Gavin, who had slid down the door to sit on the floor and stare at Nines, flopped onto a cold tile that felt like fire compared to the ice he’d been sitting on for the previous five hours.
The people around him shouted but all he could do was weakly point at Nines and beg someone to help him. He felt hands lift him but his eyes wouldn’t leave Nines as a stretcher was placed underneath him and he was carried away, eyes still focused on the freezer door. He only breathed again when he saw people bringing Nines out behind him.
He was medevacked to a nearby hospital and was treated for frostbite. He didn’t even care about himself and put the bill on the department’s tab, knowing it would be covered by that. As soon as the medical staff left him alone for a moment, Tina was by his side.
“How are you doing? What were you two doing in that freezer for so long?”
Gavin gripped her hand. “How’s Nines? He was worse off than I was the last time I saw him.” His grip tightened, eyes pleading. “T, I need to know how he’s doing. If he’s in bad shape, it’s my fault.”
She gripped his hand with both of hers. “I heard he’s fine. He should be repaired in a few hours. I’ll be sure to direct him here as soon as he’s functional, okay? Even if that means he’s got a mechanic on his back the whole time keeping him stable.”
Gavin breathed a sigh of relief, relaxing slightly into the hospital bed. “How much longer until I’m clear to leave? I hate hospitals.” He shivered.
“I know, Gav. Doc says you’ll have to be here overnight to make sure you’re actually fine. You were in there for a while. However, they said you weren’t as bad as they expected you to be for how long you were in there.”
Gavin nodded. “Nines kept me warm. Apparently, at the cost of his own functions.” He groaned, knocking his head against his pillow. “T, he almost died and I didn’t even notice. How am I supposed to deal with that?”
She shook her head. “I don’t know.” She fell silent, staying with him for a few more minutes before leaving to check on Nines.
Gavin spent the rest of the day in the hospital and drifted into a fitful sleep that night. The soft sound of a door opening woke him and he turned over to find Nines standing just inside the doorway. Gavin smiled, tears filling his eyes, and reached out a hand to him.
Nines crossed the room in three long strides and gripped Gavin’s hand, nearly crushing him before remembering that he was fragile. Pulling the chair closer, Nines sat with his legs practically under Gavin’s bed to be as close as possible.
“How are you?”
Gavin laughed, a harsh sound. “Out of all the things to say, that’s what you go with? How are you?!”
Nines shrugged. “It’s the only thing I care about.”
Gavin didn’t know how to respond to that. “W-well, I could ask you the same thing! You almost shut down on me back there!” He reached forward to punch Nines’ shoulder. “What happened?”
Nines’ smile was bittersweet. “I diverted as much heat as I could evenly across my chest and arms to keep you as warm as possible. I underestimated how much heat each biocomponent needed to function and how much they could take and burnt out a few while freezing others. I’m fully repaired now, don’t worry.”
“Why didn’t you say anything sooner? We could have figured out some other way that didn’t include you killing a few organs to stay alive!”
Nines shrugged. “My only mission at that point was to keep you alive at all costs. My life was, and still is in my eyes, inconsequential in comparison to yours.” His voice was kind, tinged with affection, but also firm, as if he weren’t willing to budge on that.
Gavin weakly punched him in the chest. “No! You need to care for yourself more than you care for me, tin can! Our lives are equal!” Gavin didn’t truly believe that his own life was worth that of his partner’s but he needed Nines to see it that way.
Nines caught his fist and held both his hands. “Our lives are equal. But, I love you too much to see you harmed.”
Gavin stopped trying to hit him, stunned. “What? You love me?”
Nines shrugged, releasing one of his hands to rub the back of his neck. “I do.”
Gavin smiled, scoffing slightly. He knew his face must have resembled a tomato with how hot it felt. “Good. ‘Cause, I love you too.”
After dinner you guys shared a cab home. Rafael walked into his apartment and sat down on the couch turning on the TV. He wasn’t really paying attention to it, he was thinking about you. He finally seen another side to you tonight, a side he was pretty sure you hadn’t shown anyone else.  Yes you grew up with 12 boys, which you used as an excuse to cover the real reason you acted like that. You had been hurt, just like him. It was easier to be a smart ass and not be liked then to try and be nice and be hurt. You just wanted to be loved. So did he, by you.
Next morning you got up and dressed for work. You needed to be at Rafael’s office by 8 for last minute prep with Amanda with court starting at 9. You pulled up at the court house at 7.30 and walked into Rafael’s office. Carmen wasn’t there yet, but he was, you could smell him.
“Morning Counselor ”
“Morning Detective” he smiled at you. He looked at you different today. Different in a good way. Like something had changed.
“I grabbed you a coffee, hope I got it right” he point to the second cup sitting on his desk.
“You’re the Best. Thank you” you took a sip “Just right” you smiled back at him
“Puedo hacerte una pregunta?” (Can I ask you a question?)
“Si Adelante” (Yes, Go ahead)
“Esta Noche (tonight), have dinner with me? Win or lose”
“You mean win Counselor. Si por que no (Yes why not)” you smiled at him.
“You know quite a lot of Spanish Detective, I like it” you laughed
“I’ am full of sorpresas (surprises) Counselor” you winked at him
Court went in your favour and the perp was found guilty. Your testimony went well and Rafael was pleased with you and Amanda.
“You both done great. Well done.” Just then Amanda’s phone rang and she walked away.
“So dinner tonight?” he asked
“Of course. Wouldn’t miss it”
“I’ll text you the address later. Meet me there after work”
--
You and Sonny finished at 4 and you weren’t meeting Rafael till 6.30, you got home to shower and changed. Something was different about Rafael today, he was different with you and you liked it. You looked up the restaurant he sent the address too, it was another Spanish one. You had just the right outfit.
You didn’t wear many dresses or skirts, only when you went out for girl’s nights. You pulled out a black short skirt, it sat mid-thigh and had two frills layered, coming off the hem. Very Spanish style. You then picked a white sheer non see through top that was tight fitting, had capped sleeved and tucked it in. You grabbed a pair of black slides and a clutch. You left your hair straight, did your make up and walked out the door.
Your cab pulled up right on 6.30. For the first time in a long time you had butterflies. This feeling was foreign to you. The last time you felt this, your heart was broken in two. Just then Rafael walked straight past you towards the door.
“Rafael” you yelled out and he looked around to seen you standing there. His eyes flew open and his mouth dropped open looking you up and down.
“Y/N?”
“Come on Barba, what? Too girly for you” you laughed at him and walked towards him “Some hombre guapo (handsome man), asked me to dinner at this Spanish place. Thought I better make some effort”
“And I’m glad you did, you look beautiful. Do you always dress like this outside of work?”
“What no, only on girl’s nights with Amanda”
You guys walked in and got seated at a table. You both ordered quickly and sat back relaxing and talking. Your drinks came and you took a big sip to try and tame the butterflies.
“So, who was the asshole that broke your heart?”
“I ‘am sorry what?”
“What to forward for you? I know you heard me” his trade mark smirk came to his face.
You looked at him in his eyes and then took another sip of your drink.
“It’s going to take more than one drink for that story” you huffed and laughed at the same time. Rafael called over the waiter and ordered two shoots. You both cheered and shot them down.
“He was my old partner, my first partner” you paused “We started to see each other pretty much as soon as we were partnered. You know the whole love at first sight bullshit” you huffed and he nodded back. “Things were good for about 18 months, we hadn’t meet each other’s parents yet, thank goodness, he only met some of my cousins. Of course things were good till they weren’t. We got a call one night to a domestic violence case. He really done a number on her. They had a two year old and 6 month old, beautiful little kids. We managed to get them out that night and into a shelter. We didn’t know she took her phone with her. He rang her the next day and she went back to him” you paused, Rafael lent forward to grabbed your hand, you holding his back. “We got the call a week later reporting gun shots from the address, we went back and well you know the rest” you took another sip of your drink. “Things fell apart, he couldn’t handle what I was going through mentally after what we seen, or rather he didn’t want to handle me. I was hard work he told, someone he couldn’t take home to his Mum, too damaged” you took another sip of your drink sighing “Next thing I knew he had asked to be re-partnered and I was reading his engagement announcement in the paper. He ended up with our captain’s daughter, 3 weeks after he broke up with me, they were engaged 6 months later and as they say the rest is history.” You looked at him shyly having a drink of water feeling all the sips of drink going to your head.
“He didn’t know what he had”
“No Rafael, he knew what he had. He just didn’t want it. I haven’t been in a relationship since. It was my first and will most likely be my last” you laughed.
“You don’t always need to be so strong” he said back to you squeezing your hand.
“If I don’t I’ll fall apart and no one will put me back together. Anyway, enough about me, who’s the bitch that broke your heart?” he raised his eye brows and lifted his hand from yours to order another round of shots.
“We have had somewhat the same experience. Love at first sight, for her to choose my best friend over me”
“Are they still together?”
“Less and less. He is in jail for talking to underage girls plus other stuff, she stands by him”
“Well….more fool her, the grass isn’t always greener” you shrugged your shoulders, “I guess it all worked in my favour in the end”
“Why is that?” he raised his eye brows at you.
“Well I’ am sitting here with you, you’re not at home playing husband Barba. Cheers to me” you took a sip of your new drink and he gave you a smile.
Rafael paid the check much to your protest, you were both standing outside waiting for your cabs to come. You both hadn’t noticed the time, it was 11 and you both had work tomorrow, you starting at 8.
“I had a great time with you Rafael” he smiled to you and took a step closer
“Podemos hacer esto de nuevo? (can we do this again?), but maybe not a weekday” you both laughed “Sábado? (Saturday?)”
“Si, soy libre (Yes I’ am free)” you answered back.
“Great it’s a date” he lent in and hugged you, kissing you on the cheek.
“Wait-a date? Like an actual date?”
“Yes Detective, like an actual date”
Fairytale Complex - [Undertale | Sans x Reader]
[Gender Neutral, Frisk's Parent Reader | Slow Burn]
Chapter Twelve | Danger Mystery (Part 1 of 2)
[First] | [Previous] | [Next]
Today's the day, and though there's no going back now, one look at the last message your ex sent you makes you wish you could.
I'll 🐝 there in 30 ⌚, babe. 😘😘😘
💋💖🥺 Miss you. 🥺💖💋
K.
The overuse of emojis topped off with him calling you ‘babe’ makes you regret so much as the thought of meeting him already.
It's hard to imagine a normal conversation with Jerry given how awfully long it's been since you last talked and how blatant you were being through texts, ignoring all the ones about the info he dug up on monsterkind and only answering his most recent message with a 'K'. You didn't want to hear his reasons behind his absence after how bad things were left between you, and even less did you want him to call you 'babe' in real life. Grateful as you are to have Toriel offer her home as the place for your meeting with him, you look forward to this as much as you do having to wake up at five in the morning every weekday. Her home is busy as a result of the upcoming visitor, with Papyrus trying to make himself look like the most sophisticated gentleman possible, Toriel fixing Frisk's hair into two short braids, Undyne freshening up after exercising all her own nervousness away, Alphys practicing her introductory speech, and Sans revising Frisk's homework.
Considering how much of a handful the last person has been, you decide to take that as an opportunity for you to bother him yourself -- not only as payback, but as a way to prepare yourself to confront Jerry soon.
You approach the couch he sits on and stand behind him, his sitting height and your standing one allowing you to grab a look at what he's doing with more detail. He's around halfway through correcting Frisk's Math homework, and their English speech is already set aside with a few marks and commentary on what they had left to work with. His revision stops when you hover a little closer, making him acknowledge your presence and set the notebook aside to turn around and meet with your eyes.
"How do I look?
That's the first question you ask him, a bit of confidence shining through with how your health's managed to improve a bit since your hospitalization. While you still have to use foundation to cover up your stress blemishes and you're far from being as fit as Jerry was, it's a huge difference from how you were at the start of it all. As a result, you smile, ready to hear someone else's view of you besides Frisk, Brenda, or yourself.
"'Fraid you're asking the wrong person, pal," he replies, gaze averting from yours.
"C'mon," you insist, sitting next to him on the couch. You then shift a bit closer to the skeleton and nudge his shoulder, pouting at him after that. "Please?," you add, facing him again. "You're… You're the only one I trust who won't sugarcoat how I look if you pointed out those 'love handles' I've got a while back."
He manages to keep his gaze and attention on the conversation, though you can see he tries to look elsewhere every so often, as if unable to stare at you for too long.
"So? I was just makin' a comparison between us, not callin' you out or anything."
"But you were still bold enough to say I had them."
You pull your hand back, noticing it's been kept on his shoulder for far too long. Then, you scoot away, growing aware of how close you are. "I don't want him to think I'm still hung up over him." You huff. "It's been almost six years now!"
"Are you still thinkin' about 'im, though?"
"Oh, hell no. He can go date whoever he wants."
Sans grabs the area where you'd touched him; the sight of that makes you worry if you'd involuntarily crossed a line with him. You're not sure how to ask if you've made him uncomfortable, so you back off and shift further away in your seat, setting your hands on your lap and staring down afterwards. "He was… nice enough to wait until I finished my second year of college for us to call our relationship off and for him to leave the picture, so I can't really blame him too much for what happened." You take in some air and look up again, maintaining your pride. "But that still doesn't mean I don't want to look my best. I've moved on, and I... I really want all that to show today."
Appearing convinced, Sans nods once and sits up straighter on the couch. Whatever made him wary of eye contact vanishes and allows him to judge you without any bias, irises scanning your face for a moment. He carries on to your attire, though it's a quicker observation in comparison and a hint of embarrassment can be seen in his body language, from how stiff his shoulders get to how his grin feels forced and bashful. "You look good. Not much different from your regular self, I'd say."
"Please, be honest with me here, Serif. I know I didn't exactly... look my best when we first met, y'know? It's fine."
"But I am being honest." Again, he averts his gaze from yours, posture staying rigid as he faces the table and stares at the open notebook. "You don't need to try and look like you've moved on, 'cause it already shows -- And even more now that you look healthier, too."
Unsure how to approach his comment, you grab your knees and clench your hands around them, sighing after. "If you really think so, then I..." You breathe in, chest feeling tighter than the belt around your waist. "Thank you."
You stand up and fix your clothes for what has to be the twentieth time today. Your heart's racing just as much as your thoughts. Honest to goodness, you were nervous over meeting Jerry again, and not because of butterflies or lingering feelings, but for how much had happened since he last visited. At the thought of him meeting the monsters and learning all about the near two months Frisk was absent from your side, your worries heighten and anxiety eats right through your confidence.
Nervous, you gulp and look back to the couch again, offering the one still sitting there a smile. "Could you... follow me outside, please?" You wring your hands, clasping them as a subtle plead shows on your face. "I could really use your company right now."
Sans laughs at that, nodding again as he stands up, dusts off, and joins your side, winking when he looks up at you. "Thought you'd never ask, (Y/N)."
You still can't help feeling strange at the sound of him saying your name.
While you're fully aware it was nothing out of the ordinary and that he was now in closer enough terms with you to call you that instead of 'pal' or (L/N), there remains a sudden flip in your stomach whenever he says it. Whether it was due to how wary you've become around him or how incessant he was with his flirting, it's still impossible for you to acknowledge that and get over those feelings. No way were you wasting any of your time and energy thinking about that stuff, anyway.
• • •
The temperature changes as you both step outside.
In contrast to the warmth and coziness of Toriel's home, you're greeted by cold and unrelenting winds, along with the colder, occasional water droplets falling on your face. The hint of a downpour coming soon makes you dwell on your past visit here and how you were obliged to stay the night back then. You wonder if the same ending will apply for today, or if you would have to cut your reunion short as a consequence.
"Guessin' those months without the kid around were pretty draining, huh? You look way happier compared to when we first met." Sans breaks the ice, though his hands are kept in his pockets to shield himself from both the cold and any awkward body language. "When I think about it, it's… It's kinda hard to believe it's already been just as long since we left the Underground -- And that it's gonna be Frisk's birthday soon, too."
You face down at him, smiling when you meet with his gaze. "Has it felt like less or longer to you?"
"A weird mix between the two, actually."
You look away from each other at the sound of an engine rumbling from nearby. A familiar, red colour flashes before your eyes; the Ferrawrxd that parks at the sidewalk brings back memories, ones you try to push down. "Tori was already plannin' out somethin' for 'em by that time," the skeleton says, distracting you from the view. "Has she talked about it with you?"
"Not yet," you reply, facing your shoes. "But I wanted to ask her if she'd like to help out -- It's the least I can do with how much she cares for Frisk."
Despite your best efforts not to, you tense up at the sound of a person stepping down and a car door being shut and locked.
Now that you're actually about to confront your ex, it's hard for you to keep your confidence and face up at that sight. "You should do it, then." Again, Sans's voice helps melt your worries down. "I'm sure she'll be more than happy to join you in that -- And pretty much the rest of Frisk's friends, too." You can feel his gaze on you, though you don't look at him, still too anxious to move your eyes away from the floor. "And I'd be more than happy to help also, so just say the word if you need me."
The earthy scent of roses catches you off guard and makes you look up to see a large, white-and-red bouquet being offered out to you, ex-husband standing behind them. "How's it going, babe?" he asks, a smile present on his face. "I missed you."
You back up against the door to Toriel's home and face the man in front of you with careful eyes. Your breathing hitches with how different a greeting that is from your expectations; the sight of him having no companion around and the use of 'babe' makes it obvious as to what the bouquet means. It's even more than evident with the lull in his tone and the soft look in his eyes, though you don't want to acknowledge that. To counter, you step closer to the skeleton's side and look at your ex right in the eye, a firm look remaining in yours.
"I'm doing alright," you reply, stoic. You then take the flowers from him, paying little attention to them and ignoring his other comment. "This is Sans. Though I'm sure you've heard about him already," you add, gesturing with a hand over to him. Pretending you hadn't seen Jerry at the restaurant back at the very beginning of it all is the best you can do for now with how hard it is to lie about it. "He's one of Frisk's friends from the Underground."
The pair exchange a look, one you can only remain curious over when you remind yourself over the purpose for Jerry's visit. You glare sharply at him, wanting to stand your ground. "Why return after a whole year of not coming around to see your child?" Finally, you cross your arms tight and let your displeasure known through a grimace. "Frisk was gone for almost two whole months, and yet you never worried to ask if I needed help with that or not!"
You take a step forward, anger bubbling the more you let those words dawn upon you. "You came to visit us only after the hardest stage was over. The one where I needed you the most!" You hold yourself back, against letting your voice turn any louder or making a scene of any sort.
"Well, I..." he counters, gaze narrowing and frown showing. "I waited two whole years for you to start out college before ending our relationship, and I'm still paying child support to this day."
"And I had to divide time between taking care of a two year-old with work and college!" You huff out, trying to contain yourself. "This isn't a competition, Jerry. It never was." A sharp bite to the inside of your lip is what's necessary for you to keep yourself from exploding any further than you have already, against showing any more weakness in front of him. "I don't care if you decided to leave, I only wanted you to at least pretend you cared for Frisk. Not just show up and visit once a year like freakin' Santa Claus!"
He glares back at you, keeping it that way when he looks down at Sans, his height not only towering over the monster, but you, as well. "At least I'm not dating a Halloween decoration seven years after my divorce!"
Wham!
You shove the bouquet right at his chest.
Your nostrils flare and your hands ball up tight as you stare him down, frown changing for a deep and unwavering scowl. "Don't talk to him like that!" You pause and take another step forward, enough for him to do the opposite. "Don't call me babe, and don't give me flowers if you're just gonna assume I'm dating someone else! I'm through with you, Jerry, and it's been that way since six damn years ago."
Jerry's eyes lower back to the skeleton, who takes his hands out of his pockets and straightens up. He faces your ex, looking amused. "So this is the one you told me you liked, man?" he asks, brushing you aside to make way towards Sans. "Is this really the (chick/dude) you told me you were into? I thought we were bros!"
"Wait, what?"
Those are the only words you can say out loud as you watch the two confront each other, tension thick in the air. Jerry takes in all of it, while the monster keeps his cool, shrugging at his bro. "Sorry to lay it down like this, but yeah," he says, snickering. "They're who I'm into." He spares a quick glance at you, winking to further fuel your ex's anger. "I gotta admit, it's a bit awkward. Though I really dunno why you're so worked up over this if you had your time all those years ago. Ain't my fault you two broke up."
"They're my ex-spouse, bro!"
"Yeah -- I'm well-aware of that, pal."
You back away from the door when it opens, revealing a frowning Toriel behind it.
"Is everything alright out there, you two? Someone sounds angry." When she catches sight of Jerry, her eyes brighten and a smile overcomes her. "I see our new guest is here! Come along now. I cannot wait to meet Frisk's other parent!"
"Inna second, Tori," Sans says, grinning up at your ex. "Just havin' a talk with 'im first."
The goat lady nods, and a knowing look's exchanged between them two; she then closes the door after that, leaving you be.
Overwhelmed and in need of some painkillers for a future headache, you take a step back meanwhile, not quite in favour of getting caught up between your ex and a monster with a seemingly one-sided crush on you.
"What more could there be to talk about?" Jerry asks, scowling. "If I'd known it was (Y/N) you'd been talking about this whole time, I would've never told you to try giving it a shot!"
He storms off inside the house and closes the door shut, leaving you alone with the skeleton, who soon beckons you over with his irises, a look of caution visible in them.
"You okay, pal?" he asks, hands going back in his pockets. "Sorry I got ya mixed up in all this. I know you don't want any drama, but I really didn't think he'd figure me out like this."
You stand by the door and lean against the wall while you consider his words.
It doesn't take too long for a smile to show up on your face. You sigh, choosing to believe him for now. "It's alright," you say, dismissing his words. "The look you gave each other before this kind of... showed that." You pause, curiosity intervening. "How did you guys become friends, anyway? Didn't he pretty much hate your guts a while back?"
"Met 'im again while workin' at a hot dog stand, so we've been able to talk some more since then." Sans joins your side, similar to the day at Waterfall, but with an easier atmosphere present between you. "He came over to grab a bite, we found some stuff in common, and then we kinda just became friends from there on -- Surprisingly." He hums, a faint chuckle interrupting it. "We started talkin' about our love lives two weeks into gettin' to know each other. And about a month after you confronted me over at that restaurant." His hands leave his pockets, these placing themselves behind his skull as he further reclines against the wall. "I told 'im I'd met someone I was interested in, but when he asked for specifics, I said they weren't really into me. Told 'im they were a single parent, and that maybe that had somethin' to do with them not fallin' easily enough for my flirtin'."
He stops, though you still want to hear more. You nod at him, hope over him carrying on remaining. "Is... Is that all?"
"You'll get mad at me if I keep tellin' you what I told 'im about you."
"I can't promise I won't, but I'll try not to."
The monster takes in a breath, and his relaxed state is then replaced by a subtle mousiness he tries to cover up, mainly by remaining calm and casual.
"I told him your stubbornness and integrity were kinda just... hot, and that I had a thing for not only your looks, but just you, in general -- As a person, I mean."
"Do you still feel that way about me?"
You don't know what makes you blurt that question out, but it's far too late for you to dwell over it now of all times.
"Of course I do," Sans says, rubbing the back of his neck. "I told Jerry 'bout that last part just a few days ago." He stops again, breathing in deep once more. "I was, well, only doing it for fun back when it started. But now... Now I really mean it when I flirt with you, (Y/N)."
June 4 (thurs)
Laurel clipped her pager back onto her scrubs, leaning over the counter of the nurses’ station. “You ready to go grab lunch?” She had just finished changing the bandages and administering pain medication for a little boy who was recovering from a heart surgery, and was looking forward to getting off her feet for a few minutes. The PICU floor was quiet, only about half of the rooms being filled, and there were no pressing matters that required her attention. If something drastic changed in the next half an hour, she always had her pager.
Madeline looked up from her chair, where she was finishing up filling in a patient’s chart. “Sounds good,” she said, letting their charge nurse know that they were headed down. Madeline Peltier had been one of the first people to introduce themselves to Laurel when she started; having only been on the unit for two weeks herself, she was still getting a handle on the reins and was more than willing to show Laurel around.
Madeline was also one of the few on the floor who was just as comfortable in English as she was in French. French had been Laurel’s foreign language through college, but she was made rudely aware upon her move to Montréal that the pronunciation and slang of Canadian French was very different from the Standard French of Madame Anderson’s rural Minnesota classroom. Her grasp of the language was good enough to take the Québec nursing licensure exam — which wasn’t even offered in English — but the spoken dialect was proving much more difficult to pick up. They walked down to the cafeteria, on the second floor, grabbing some sandwiches before swiping their ID badges for the employee discount.
“I still think they should give us free food,” Madeline said moodily, unscrewing her water bottle and taking a sip.
Laurel laughed. “When hell freezes over, maybe. Doctor’s lounge usually has some pretty nice stuff set out, or at least that’s what they say. Pity our cards don’t let us in, I’m not above identity theft.” Madeline snorted into her sandwich.
“What are you doing this weekend?” Madeline asked a few minutes later, starting to peel an orange.
“Uh, not much?” Laurel said. “Getting my papers together to resign my lease in a few weeks, grocery shopping, but nothing big. It’s been a long few shifts this week and I’m mostly just looking forward to taking it easy. Why?”
“If you’re up to it,” Madeline shrugged, “Patrice and I are going out for dinner Saturday night and we’d love for you to join us.” Patrice was Madeline’s long-time boyfriend, they started dating in university and had been together ever since.
Laurel rolled her eyes. “Madeline, thank you for the offer, but I don’t want to keep being your third wheel.”
Madeline let out a conspiratorial grin. Oh no, Laurel thought. This can’t be good. “As it would so happen,” she said, “you wouldn’t be third wheeling. One of Patrice’s friends is back in the city for a few months, and I think you two might hit it off,” she sing-songed. Madeline had been trying to set her up from practically the moment they met; whether it was someone from her gym, one of the critical care fellows, or apparently, her boyfriend’s childhood friend. They were always nice guys, but nothing had ever stuck for more than a date or two.
---
Twelve hour shifts meant that, at least on work days, there was no way Laurel was going to have the emotional or physical capacity to make herself a real dinner. She’d order in occasionally, but it more common to just pull together something quick like a frozen pizza or grab whatever leftovers she could find in the fridge. Yesterday’s chicken and rice it was, then. Sticking it in the microwave, Laurel opened the door to her balcony, letting Piper out to use the bathroom. Piper was an eight-month-old chocolate lab, the love of her life who she had adopted just after the new year. Laurel had always grown up with dogs; back in Minnesota she had Jackson and Lucy, and she had been missing them more than a little bit since moving to Canada. Piper was incredible. Intelligent, loyal, and so friendly that even her neighbor’s notoriously picky five-year-old son had taken a shine to her. She wolfed down her food, grabbed Piper’s leash and her water bottle, and headed out the door.
June 5 (fri)
The intricacies of language were hard. And, somehow, learning the intricacies of a language you already knew was even harder. Laurel was trying her damndest to pick up Québecois French as fast as humanly possible, but while she could conjugate l’imparfait in her sleep, the accent and vocabulary were what was really throwing her off. But she intended on making a life in Montréal, and staying as long as she could, so there really wasn’t any option but to hit the books. Immersion worked for some people, and thank God she knew the medical terminology to communicate with her patients and their families, but it wasn’t quite the same when she was struggling through telling the mechanic her car needed an oil change. In a perfect world she’d have someone to help her one-on-one, but she didn’t want to ask Madeline for that big of a favor. And while she made decent money at the hospital — she could afford her own apartment and had a little left over every month to put into savings — it was nowhere near enough to pay for a tutor. So Duolingo, and podcasts, and Youtube lessons it was.
Letting out a groan, Laurel leaned her head into her hands, shutting her laptop. She wasn’t going to make any progress being this frustrated. She bent down to scratch Piper, whose favorite spot for naps was a blanket right beside Laurel’s desk, between the ears, pulling her leash and collar off of their book by her bedroom door. Piper’s ears perked up, and soon enough she was running around the apartment wagging her tail as fast as it could go, a slightly exasperated but nevertheless laughing Laurel following. She finally managed to clip on her leash; at fifty pounds, Piper still had a little bit of growing left to do, but she had already proven she was more than capable of bending the will of a full-grown and otherwise capable 23-year-old woman.
She had discovered Parc Saint-François-d’Assise a few weeks after adopting Piper, and had thanked her lucky stars for finding a dog park so close to her apartment. Having a schedule like hers meant that she couldn’t always get her to a weekly training or obedience class — plus, the French that she did know certainly didn’t include ‘heel’ — so the time spent socializing was well-appreciated. It was only a fifteen minute walk, and Piper was good enough on a leash that she only stopped once to bark at a squirrel in one of the many birch trees that lined the street. The park was an acre or two, small enough that she could see all the way across and keep an eye on Piper as she let her off-leash, but big enough that there was more than enough room for all the animals. It wasn’t particularly crowded that Friday; Laurel was confused for a moment before she remembered that most people were busy at 11 AM on a weekday. There were a few families, with kids out for the summer from school, and a man playing in the far corner with his two small dogs, but not much else.
Laurel leaned down, unclipping the leash from Piper’s collar, and gave the chocolate lab a scratch on the head. “Have fun, girl!” Piper never needed much encouragement, and took off running almost before Laurel had even wrapped up her leash. Rolling her eyes and laughing, she picked up her phone. A text from Allison, one of her only friends in the city aside from Madeline, inviting her out for her birthday next week. Madeline, giving her the address for the restaurant the next night. The Duolingo owl, threatening her with bodily harm if she didn’t log her language progress for the day. She was so engrossed in checking her email that she didn’t hear the shout for her to look out, or the two bulldogs barreling towards her at full speed, until they had knocked her off her feet and she landed straight on her ass.
“Desolé. Vas-tu bien?” The man asked, holding out a hand and helping her up. Laurel nodded, brushing the dirt off her jeans.
“Ouais, ouais. Pas de problème, pas de mal. Ils sont chiens, non?”
He chuckled, patting the smaller of the two bulldogs, which had decided to take a break from accosting passers-by to get petted. “C’est vrai.” They talked for another minute or two before saying goodbye, but she could have sworn it was an hour.
Walking Piper home half an hour later, Laurel was struck with two realizations. The mystery man — bulldog dad, as she had started calling him in her internal monologue — had very possibly the prettiest eyes she’d ever seen in her life, and she’d be cursing herself for the next week for not getting his number.
June 6 (sat)
Saturday meant Laurel had a day off, but more importantly, Saturday meant she didn’t have to set her alarm for 5:30 and could actually wake up at a semi-normal hour. Her internal clock didn’t wake her up until half past seven; even then, it was Piper’s soft barks that finally got her up, throwing on a pait of shorts, and leading her out to the courtyard down the hallway to use the bathroom before coming back to her apartment and throwing open the fridge doors. No 7 AM shift meant that she mercifully had enough time to make a proper breakfast. On shift days, there never seemed to be enough time to actually sit down and eat, and Laurel usually ended up just having a quick bowl of cereal or some overnight oats and making a protein shake to drink on the drive over. Eggs, bread, yogurt, a peach she had picked up from the farmer’s market.
After the bread was done toasting and her tea was finished steeping, she gingerly carried the food out to the balcony, placing it on the table as Piper trotted out behind her. Laurel crunched her toast with one hand as she flipped the pages of a book with the other, a Shirley Chisholm biography that Victoria, her best friend from high school, had recommended her. It was almost an hour later when she finally found a good place to stop. As much as she may have liked to just camp out on her balcony all day and blow through the rest of the book, her pantry was crying out for a grocery run and she was running desperately low on ice cream.
---
The dinner reservation was at 7, and by 6:30 Laurel was almost ready to leave. Her blue skirt fanned out on the couch as she sat killing time on her phone, tapping the floor nervously with the same pair of block heels that she’d worn to her university graduation. The restaurant wasn’t far from her apartment building, so a few minutes later, she decided to go, leaving Piper with a pat on the head and plenty of food in her bowl. Laurel laughed to herself on the way over, her eyes flickering over the skyline as she walked alongside the St. Lawrence River.
It’s like what she had told Madeline over and over again, every time she tried to set her up on a blind date with a friend of a friend. She wasn’t actively looking for a relationship but wouldn’t be opposed to it. Whatever happens, happens. Biting her lip, Laurel decided that even if she didn’t hit it off with whatever guy Madeline was trying to set her up, even if things go horribly wrong and he’s the exact opposite of what she’s looking for in a partner, she’ll get a free meal and, hopefully, a new friend.
Laurel hadn’t been told much about her blind date, or anything, really. She didn’t even know his name. From what she had been able to figure out, he was from the area but didn’t work in Canada most of the year — so maybe he was in business? All Madeline told her was that he was tall, attractive, and had a dog. Or was it two? She honestly couldn’t remember. She trusted her and Patrice’s judgement, so if he had gotten their stamp of approval, it was good enough for her. She grabbed her phone out of her bag as she neared the restaurant, letting Madeline know she was almost there and asking where to meet her. She told the hostess she was meeting some friends, and Madeline walked around the corner less than a minute later. “Hi, love!” she said, reaching out and wrapping Laurel in a warm hug. “We’re over this way.” Laurel followed her around the corner and past the bar to a four-seater against the wall. She slid into the seat closest to the wall, leaving a space empty.
“He should be back in a minute, just ran to the bathroom,” Patrice said, nodding towards the vacant seat and referring to her mystery man. A minute passed, Laurel scanning the wine list, before Madeline threw her hand up in greeting.
“Salut, PL!” When Laurel looked up, she almost dropped her menu.
 “Oh my God!” The stranger — PL’s — eyes widened in recognition. “You’re the bulldog dad!”
He chuckled, rounding the table to greet her with a kiss on the cheek. Left, then right. It had taken Laurel a while to get used to; even going to university in Toronto, cheek kissing was practically obsolete, but that changed very quickly upon her move to Montréal. “I am. Pierre-Luc Dubois, good to meet you properly this time.”
Madeline looked between the two, clearly confused. “You know each other?”
Laurel shook her head. “Not really, no. His dogs ran into me at the park yesterday when I was there with Piper, we talked for a minute or two.”
Pierre nodded in affirmation. “So, Piper. The chocolate lab’s yours then?”
“My pride and joy.”
June 13 (sun)
 Over the next week and a half, it became more and more common for Laurel to meet up with the group on the weekend, or one of her off days, or really whenever she had spare time. She had learned that Pierre-Luc was a hockey player, Patrice explaining that they had played atom league together growing up and the friendship had somehow stuck. Come to think of it, he had looked a little familiar. The University of Minnesota Duluth was less than an hour drive from her hometown, and besides being the college that the majority of the 50% of college-bound graduates of her high school went to, it also had one of the best hockey programs in the country. So she knew the sport, followed enough to be informed, and had even become a de facto Maple Leafs fan from her time in Toronto.
Sometimes Madeline and Laurel would bring another friend from the hospital along, sometimes it was just the four of them. Once, a Sunday afternoon coffee meetup turned into just Laurel and Pierre-Luc; Patrice had come down with a bad cold and Madeline was staying behind to look after him. If she was being honest, it was far less awkward than she had anticipated. Pierre had insisted on buying her iced capp, and they had settled in a corner booth, sharing a box of Timbits.
“Patrice mentioned you’re from the U.S., somewhere in the Midwest?” Pierre asked, sipping his coffee.
She nodded. “Cloquet, Minnesota,” Laurel sighed, “where there is exactly one hotel, one high school, and life revolves around the mines.”
Pierre sucked in. “That sounds...interesting,” he said diplomatically.
Laurel laughed. “It’s okay, you don’t have to mince words. The people are nice, if you think like they do, and the scenery is gorgeous, but…” She gathered her thoughts. “It’s not the place you can really dream big, you know?” He nodded. “Neither of my parents went to college, my mom’s a receptionist at the elementary school and my dad works in the mines. I knew by the time I was in high school that I wanted something more. There was just nothing for me there, and I didn’t ever want to feel as trapped and beaten down as some people I know.”
Pierre leaned back in his chair. “Do you go back often?”
“Once a year, maybe twice?” Laurel said, shaking her head. “I’ve only got a few good friends back there, and trust me, they’re much more excited to come to big-city Canada than I would be to go back to a town of 12,000 people.”
“Fair enough.”
Conversation between them flowed easily, so easily that before she knew it, two hours had gone by and he had to leave for a skate. As she walked back to the metro, Laurel couldn’t help but shake the feeling that the two hours she had spent with Pierre had felt more like a date than any she’d been on since moving to Montréal a year ago. But it couldn’t have been a date, because it wasn’t supposed to be. Right?
 June 15 (tues)
 It was half past seven on Tuesday, and Laurel was just getting home from work. She loved her job, genuinely, but twelve hour shifts were no joke. Spinning her key ring around her finger, she stopped in the mailroom, unlocking her box and fishing out the stack of envelopes that had accumulated in the two days since she’d last checked. Walking over to the elevators, she held the bundle in one hand as the other punched in her button to the third floor. Laurel flipped through the envelopes as the doors opened. Water bill, bank statement, letter from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. Hang on. Laurel stopped at the last envelope, running her finger under the flap as she turned her key in the lock, opening the door with her hip and letting it slam shut behind her.
She had applied a little over a month ago for her permanent residency card, which she had been assured by everyone she asked would be a relatively easy and painless process. “You’re a nurse, and a good one. I could use ten of you,” her charge nurse had stated. “You went to school here, you have a Canadian degree and a Canadian license. There’s no reason they would cause you any trouble,” Madeline had said. And she had done her due diligence, double-checked every piece of information, checked off every document on the list. Done everything she was supposed to do. So when she unfolded the paper, the words shocked her.
Denied. Laurel brought her hand shakily up to her mouth as her eyes raced down the letter. No explanation was given, all she was told was that her application had been rejected and she had until September 17, when her work visa expired, to leave the country. The first thing Laurel did was frantically grab her laptop, seeing if there was some way she could apply for a visa extension, but the deadline had passed; she’d have to go back to the consulate in Minneapolis and try to re-apply from there, but her chances weren’t good if she’d already been rejected. The second thing she did was collapse on the floor, Piper nosing herself under her arm, and cry.
June 16 (wed)
When the group met up for lunch the next day, Madeline noticed something was off about Laurel almost immediately. Normally someone who was hyper-focused on the task at hand, she was stirring her straw around in her glass, nibbling at a piece of bread and answering questions shortly if at all. “What’s up?” she asked carefully, catching Laurel’s eye as she tried to busy herself with straightening her napkin. There wasn’t really a way she could get out of answering that one.
“I, uh, I got a letter yesterday,” she said. Pierre and Patrice stopped their conversation. All eyes were on her. “From immigration services. They told me,” her eyes pricked with tears, “they told me my PR application was denied, and I only have until the middle of September before I have to leave.”
“Like, leave the country?” Pierre asked. She nodded. “But can’t you renew your visa or something?”
“No, I looked into everything.” Laurel said in frustration, shaking her head. “There’s not enough time for it to be processed, I’d have to go back and reapply in the States, and even then the chances aren’t great.”
Madeline leaned over, wrapping Laurel up in a hug. “Oh, Laur. I’m so sorry,” she said. “You don’t deserve this.”
“It’s just hard,” Laurel started, “knowing that there’s nothing there for me back home. That’s the whole reason why I came to Canada in the first place, to get away. To get out. I’d have to retake all my licensure exams and find a new job and I don’t want to have to start all over when that’s not at all what I planned for. I thought I’d stay. I thought this was going to be my home”
“I can call my friend who’s a lawyer, see if he’s got any ideas?” Patrice offered.
Laurel smiled weakly “Thanks, Patrice, but I really don’t think they’d be able to do much. I was on the website for hours, and there’s like two ways I wouldn’t be kicked out of the country. And I don’t think I’m going to be able to give birth by September 17,” she said, letting out a watery laugh.
“You’d have to marry someone or something to stay,” Madeline said.
“Yeah, that’s the only other way it was going to happen,” Laurel agreed. “But seeing as how I’m obscenely single, I don’t see that happening…” She trailed off.
“I’d marry you,” Pierre said suddenly, shrugging.
Laurel’s head whipped to her side. “You’d what?”
“I’d marry you. We’re both single, by all accounts you’re an amazing nurse and deserve to stay. We get married, stay ‘together’ for a few years until you get your citizenship, and then tragically inform the citizenship and immigration people that while we tried, it just didn’t work out, and get a divorce. Easy peasy.”
Laurel almost burst out laughing, the idea was so ridiculous. She almost couldn’t wrap her head around what he was offering to do. He couldn’t be serious. Right?
---
Laurel slung her arm over her head, body tangled up in bedsheets. According to her phone, it was well past one. She couldn’t sleep. She had tried rain sounds, counting sheep, drinking a cup of chamomile tea, but nothing was working; she just wasn’t able to still her mind. Honestly, she couldn’t stop thinking about lunch earlier. More specifically, what Pierre had said.
As much of a bad person as it may have made her sound, the more she thought about Pierre’s offer, the more it made sense. He was incredibly attractive, so it wouldn’t be hard to fake a marriage to him for a few years. She really didn’t keep in contact with anyone from back home in Cloquet aside from her family and a few friends from high school, so it’s not like there would really be anyone to blow her cover. And she really, really wanted to stay in Canada. It wasn’t just the scenery, or the general human decency of everyone, or even the universal healthcare that pushed her to stay. She had fallen in love with the people, the city, and didn’t want to go down without a fight.
Rolling over, she grabbed her phone from her nightstand, pulling up Pierre’s contact. Hey, she texted. Laurel immediately cursed herself as the three dots popped up on his side. Hey? She was going to ask this man to marry her and the best she could come up with was hey? He wrote back immediately. Hey. You’re up late, what’s up? Laurel took a deep breath. How serious were you about offering to marry me? His second response was even faster than the first. As a heart attack.
The House Party - ep.03 - JJ Maybank
Summary: Things start to heat up as the week reaches its midway point and you make a decision that changes everything.
A/N: Mild smut at the very end of the chapter.
The S’week Masterlist | Outer Banks Masterlist
///
You weren’t sure how many times you would have to brush your teeth to get the taste of last night out of your mouth but the three times you already had clearly weren’t enough. It wasn’t alcohol, in fact you’d woken up more sober than you expected to be, almost leaning off the edge of your bed, tucked into your blanket, with JJ laying on top of the bedding beside you. It was all very ‘one motel bed’ trope-ish but you’d both been so exhausted last night that you couldn’t even enjoy the implications of it. An ice cube tray of melted aloe vera sat on the night stand and you brought it down with you to the kitchen to refreeze when you decided coffee might help the taste that wouldn’t leave your mouth.
To put it the only way you knew how, a way JJ would have definitely put it, you tasted kook trash every time you swallowed and it wasn’t going to go away anytime soon, at least not while Rafe was two houses down from you.
“Morning,” Pope voice half startled you as you entered the kitchen to find him sitting at the island eating cereal.
“How is it possible that you look so normal?” You asked, grabbing a bowl for some cereal yourself. Breakfast was a good distraction from your phone and the taste in your mouth.
“You mean as opposed to John B and Sarah who decided to parent trap it on a floatie in the pool?” He asked, turning for emphasis to look outside where your best friend and her boyfriend were indeed asleep on a floatie in the pool.
“Exactly.”
“I’m not a big drinker.” He shrugged. “What about you?”
“Am I a big drinker?” You asked.
“No, how did you end the night?”
You nodded your head slowly, realising what he was getting at with his question. “JJ was sick, I figured it was better to come back here than make him stay at the party.”
“Sure.” He agreed though it sounded empty, “did you hook up?”
“What?”
“Look, I know how JJ parties, he’s my best friend. And I know what his ‘senior week plans’ were before Sarah hijacked them to come down here. I wouldn’t put it past him to alter them. You know, have sex with as many girls as he can in the keys. Host included.”
“We didn’t have sex.” You replied.
He stared at you for a full minute, not saying anything, as if the look on his face alone would crack you into admitting some misdeed. And it probably would have if any had occurred.
“We didn’t have sex, I swear to god.” You reiterated. “It is what I said it is. JJ was throwing up in the bathroom and I brought him back here so he could rest. That’s all that happened.”
“With JJ.” Pope scoffed.
“Whoa, where’s the displaced animosity coming from...pretty sure you’re in my house.”
“Yeah and JJ is my best friend. I don’t want you stringing him along for the week cause you’re bored and you wanna make your ex jealous or something.” Pope replied.
“You literally just got done telling me that JJ wanted to sleep his way around s’week but I’m the bad guy in your head because of some proposed plan I have to ‘make my ex jealous’?” You questioned. “That’s un-fucking-believable.”
“It would be if I hadn’t seen you in the hallway with your ex right before you left with JJ.”
“You’re delusional. My ex who? Just cause I was talking to some guy-“
“You weren’t talking and it was Rafe.”
You shut your mouth, lips pressed together in a line as you tried to think of something to say. Sure, it was common knowledge amongst your friend group that you and Rafe had been hooking up for the better part of two years but that was over and you really didn’t think it was the kind of thing that pogues talked about. And you trusted Sarah not to have blabbed about it to anyone else.
“How’d you know-“
“How’d I know you and Rafe were a thing? Sarah’s not the only one here that knows you. I’ve seen him at your house before when I delivered groceries, not so hard to put two and two together.”
“Well me and Rafe are over.”
“You didn’t look over.” Pope challenged.
“Oh well, thank you for interpreting two fucking minutes of my life and deciding how I feel about something.” You snapped, “I didn’t want him to kiss me okay, I told him to leave me alone. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to you that the word no isn’t exactly a part of his vocab.”
Before Pope could say anything back the sound of footsteps on the stairs caught your attention. Both of you looked toward the staircase in time to see JJ appear, shirtless with just a pair of swim shorts on. His shoulders and chest were red but not as burnt as his back, which you caught a glimpse of as he trudged passed you, not in the high spirits he had been yesterday morning.
“Dude, your back looks painful.” Pope commented, staring at the expanse of angry red skin that looked more ready to blister than anything.
“It feels painful too.” JJ grumbled. So far he was 0-3 with vacation. He was stuck in this kook house (which really wasn’t so bad but he enjoyed bitching about it), he was sunburnt to hell, and he’d wasted an entire night of partying throwing up from sun-poisoning (though that worked out in his favour too because he definitely enjoyed the part where he sat on your bed and you rubbed aloe ice cubes on his back and basically took care of him).
“Guess the beach is out of the question?” Pope asked, getting up to put his bowl in the sink.
“I can go to the beach.”
“You definitely can’t.” You replied, coming around to look at JJ’s back. He was sitting on one of the stools, slumped over. “You shouldn’t get anymore direct sun on your back.”
“Oh cool, I’m so glad I came all the way down to fucking Florida to sit in a house all day and do shit.”
“Sorry man,” Pope said, though he made no offer to stay at the house. Yesterday had been great and he was looking forward to going to the beach again today with Kiara. John B and Sarah had mentioned tagging along but he knew they’d eventually go off to do their own thing.
“We could go to the boardwalk?” You offered, ignoring the look that Pope sent your way. You knew he was just being a good friend, looking out for someone he cared about, and it made you wish that Sarah knew enough to do the same for you.
“What will we do on the boardwalk?” JJ asked, curious enough that he wasn’t immediately rejecting the idea.
“There’s a water park there and an arcade, plus you know, tons of food.” You shrugged, “I know you wanna go to the beach-“
“I can be persuaded.”
“I think you already have been.” Pope commented.
The three of you turned your attention to the stairs as Kiara came down, already dressed for the beach. When she saw the three of you in various states of sleepwear she rolled her eyes, “hey Kie be ready early so we can all go to the beach together.”
“Technically, Sarah said that and she’s passed out in the pool still.” Pope replied, pointing out the glass doors to where the floatie was still carrying John B and Sarah on the water.
“Let’s wake ‘em up then.” JJ slipped passed you, winking, before he ran outside, jumping into the pool and landing directly on top of John B and Sarah.
You, Pope, and Kiara rushed to the doors in time to see the floatie flip over, all three teens going under as Sarah shrieked and John B tried to grab any part of the inflatable raft. Sarah surfaced immediately after JJ, throwing her body on him and wrapping her arms around his neck as she tried to push him under.
“You asshole!” She screamed when JJ ducked under the water, twisting in her arms and grabbing her waist so that he could throw her off him.
You watched them for a minute longer, as John B finally got involved, before heading back into the house and going upstairs to change. You’d left your phone plugged in the bathroom outlet while you were sitting with JJ and you picked it up now to check your messages. Two from Rafe and one, unsurprisingly, from Topper. It’d been him at the end of the hall that called Rafe away from you.
-You okay?- was all the text said and you quickly responded.
-Nothing happened. Thx-
You deleted the messages from Rafe without looking at them. You could hear everyone come in the kitchen, footsteps on the stairs as John B, Sarah, and JJ came up to change. You pulled on a crop top and some shorts, pocketing your phone before hurrying downstairs.
Kiara and Pope were back to hanging around the island, talking to each other about their plans as you entered.
“Hey, do you guys wanna meet up later on the boardwalk?” Kiara asked, “we could do dinner or something?”
“Sounds good to me.” You replied, grabbing your backpack from the chair and making sure that you had everything you needed. “There’s a pizza place near the South street entrance that has incredible food, plus it’s super cheap.”
“I do love cheap food.”
-
You had locked your shorts and your backpack in the rented locker of the water park along with JJ’s backpack before the two of you headed for any of the rides. Both your phones locked away in your backpack, cutting you both off from the rest of the world for however long JJ felt like staying at the water park.
“So? Where to first?” You asked as JJ stopped in front of a mounted map of the park. It wasn’t as big as Dorney or Six Flags but it was pretty expansive for being an extension of the boardwalk.
“Shush, I’m consulting the map.”
“Consult the bones,” you said and JJ laughed, casting you a glance before going back to the map.
“Come on,” he grabbed your hand suddenly, having zeroed in on a ride titled the constrictor, 450 feet of enclosed water slide and the two of you were going down it.
He weaved his way through the crowd of people, leading you closer and closer to the line for the slide. Most people were at the beach on the weekdays which meant a shorter wait line, something JJ was happy about. It was bad enough he was spending his day at some dumb water park with you, he didn’t want to have to wait in line too. Although, he hadn’t let your hand go yet.
“Should I mention before or after we ascend these stairs that I have a mild fear of heights?” You asked, taking the raft that was offered to you by the water park employee.
“It’s fine,” JJ assured you, “here go ahead of me.”
“How does this help?” You asked as you stepped in front of him onto the first stair.
JJ shifted his raft under his arm, pressing it against his body and holding onto the railing while he used his other hand to hold you, fingers brushing the skin above your bikini bottoms as he held your waist. “See.”
You bit your lip and took a deep breath, “yeah I see.”
The rest of the way up the stairs JJ kept his hand on either your waist or your back. He wasn’t too thrilled with heights either though focusing on the peach bikinis bottoms you wore, little pineapples polkadotting them. He could imagine you totally smacking him in the face of you knew but he’d take his chances.
As sly as he might’ve thought he was being you knew he was looking. When you turned around at the first platform before the stairs twisted you caught him looking down, eyes darting up quickly when he realized you were looking at him. You didn’t say anything, just turned back around so he wouldn’t see the satisfied smile on your face.
“You ready for this?” JJ asked as you stepped onto the final platform, JJ stepping up behind you.
“I’ll see you at the bottom Maybank.” You replied, stepping over to your slide while JJ got set up at his.
You liked waterparks for the lazy rivers and the wave pools and those crazy contraptions for kids that looked like towering pipes and dumped water on you. Even the log flume was fun. But giant enclosed slides that shot you through winding loops for endless feet until finally dumping you in a pool? Not your favorite. But as you looked over at JJ, who flashed you a thumbs up, you were having trouble thinking about the things you didn’t like.
The slide was over before you knew it and you were climbing out of the pool, JJ standing on the side waiting for you. “How did you beat me?”
“I’m like speed racer,” he said, making a wooshing sound as he glided one hand under the other like a wave.
“Well, speedracer, what next?” You asked, taking off your soaked shirt and wringing it out as you followed JJ back to the map. “Are we consulting the map again?”
“What you think I memorized it?” He asked, looking back over his shoulder at you and grabbing your hand when a woman with a stroller tried to squeeze between the two of you.
-
By the time you and JJ met up with Kiara and Pope and made it back to the house Sarah was already setting up for a party. John B had obviously been enlisted to help as he was trying to adhere light stripes at the top of the wall in the living room.
“What’d you do rob a liqour store?” You asked, grabbing the leg of the ladder he was on when he leaned to far to the left.
“Feels like it.” John B replied, “Sarah filled a cart. We’re either having a party or she’s turning into everyone’s alcoholic grandmother.”
“We’re having a party!” Sarah called, coming in from the pool area, “it’s exactly what we need.”
“Why do we need to host a party?” Kiara asked, looking back at JJ and Pope but they just shrugged, obviously not willing to get involved.
“Because morale is low here people.” Sarah replied, “and it’s senior week, duh.”
“Duh.” You repeated, raising your eyebrows and grinning at JJ who laughed. Sarah watched the interaction skeptically, as far as she knew John B’s best friend had complained of nothing but a bad time. Now he was joking with you like the two of you were friends.
“Can I talk to you,” she grabbed your arm to pull you out of the room, “Pope hold the ladder!”
“Oh cool the bathroom.” You muttered as she dragged you into the hall powder room, shutting the door behind her and trapping the two of you in the crammed space. “What’s up?”
“What’s up? What’s going on with you and JJ?”
“Didn’t we do this literally yesterday?” You questioned, “I said then and I'll say now, JJ and I are barely friends.”
“Except when I texted Kie earlier cause I couldn’t get a hold of you she said you and JJ were on the boardwalk together.”
“Oh, oh my god Sarah, you’re right, something is clearly ‘going on’ because I went on the boardwalk with someone instead of just ignoring the people living in my house.” You rolled your eyes at her accusation that something was going on though you sincerely hoped something was.
When she finally released you from the bathroom the two of you resumed getting ready before you changed into something more appropriate for the party. NC parties were slow going in the early hours until they finally picked up, mostly just crowds of people crammed in an empty rental or spread out on the beach. House parties in the Keys happened a little more erratically. People showed up while it was still light out, hanging around the pool drinking and shit talking until it got dark and they all migrated inside, drunk off their asses and louder than necessary.
You had moved the table and chairs in the dining room and pushed all the furniture back in the living room for good reason because the minute the sun went down it felt like everyone was spilling back into the house for part 2. You were in the kitchen, ignoring most everyone there, watching JJ set up a shot for Kiara.
“Is it lime and then salt or salt and then lime?” He asked, glancing at you.
You were leaned against the counter beside him and Kiara was on the other side with Pope, who already said twice he wanted no part in this. “Lime first, how else does the salt stick right? I don’t remember...I know how to do a body shot.”
“Are you offering?” The grin on JJ’s face as he asked had you practically melting in your spot.
“Guys!” Kiara leaned across the island, snapping her fingers, “can we please just do the shot!”
“Right, sorry.” You apologized, grabbing the bottle of tequila to pour for them.
While the three of you were talking Pope spun in his chair, observing the louder parts of the party that was raging on the first floor. There were a few people lingering in the kitchen with you, mostly to be closest to the alcohol, but otherwise everyone was contained to the living room, dining room, and pool. When he looked out the glass doors to the pool area he frowned, “hey guys, look who showed up.”
You looked out the door to see Topper on the patio chatting with some local. “I’ll be right back.”
“Can we just enjoy the party?” Pope called though you were already slipping out the door.
“Top,” you called not caring that you were interrupting him, “can I talk to you?”
He apologized to the girl before placing his hand on your back and leading you further away from the party, stopping once the two of you had stepped onto the sand path down to the beach. “Look, someone texted Rafe about the party alright.”
“Well I don’t want you guys here.” You replied, “you weren’t invited by me and it’s my house.”
“Hey come on, you know me alright, I’m not trying to start anything-”
“Doesn’t sound like the Topper I know.”
“That wasn’t me alright, Sarah made me a little crazy, I'll admit. But I’m over that.” Topper replied. “I don’t understand why you and Rafe broke up and suddenly you can’t hang with any of us.”
“Are you still friends with Rafe?”
“That’s not fair, we’ve been-”
“I don’t care. You know what happened. You want me to be friends with you Top? After what you and Kelce did. Look, thanks for last night but I don’t need your guilty conscience looking out for me. I need you to get your boys and get the fuck out my house.”
“Putting on the tough act for Topper?” Rafe’s voice came from behind you and you closed your eyes, jaw tensing at the sound.
“It’s fine man, we’re just talking.” Topper replied, stepping closer to you.
You opened your eyes and turned around to see Rafe and Kelce standing there, “actually I will tell you the same thing I told Top, get the fuck off my property.”
“Damn,” Rafe whistled, “you start hanging with the pogues and suddenly you think you’re tough shit.”
“Hey man, let’s just forget it.” Topper said, getting between you and Rafe.
Rafe put his hand on Topper’s shoulder, guiding him out of the way, “you go ahead, I need to talk to my girlfriend.”
“Ex-girlfriend.” You replied, “I said we were done and I meant it.”
Pope had been watching you talk to Topper from the kitchen door and when he saw Rafe and Kelce join the two of you on the catwalk he’d broken up JJ and Kiara’s shot game to tell them something was going down and you were out there alone.
“Maybe she’s just talking to them.” Kiara shrugged, “I mean, she is a kook. Her and Rafe used to date too so...”
“She dated Rafe?” JJ asked, eyes wide at the implication.
“Oh yeah, she broke it off a couple times but they always got back together.  Sarah told me she thinks they might get back together again.”
Pope frowned, thinking of the way you had looked this morning when he accused you of doing just that, “I don’t think so. We should make sure she’s okay.”
“I’ll get John B.” Kiara replied, making her way to the living room to find John B and Sarah.
JJ and Pope meanwhile, headed outside, coming up behind Kelce just as you told Rafe that you were never getting back together with him. You saw the two of them passed Kelce’s shoulder and your best at a subtle shake of the head, a silent ‘please go back inside’. But Topper saw them too and alerted Rafe to their presence.
“Kelce wasn’t lying Maybank, you really have turned into a guard dog haven’t you.” Rafe said, turning his full attention on JJ. Topper pulled you to the other side of the path and pushed you behind him as Kiara, Sarah, and John B walked up.
“Fuck off Rafe, you aren’t welcome here.” Kiara cut in before JJ could reply.
“I didn’t know you owned the place.” Kelce challenged.
“I already fucking told you to go!” You said, “so go!”
Rafe only smiled, looking at JJ still, “what pair you guys make man. A bitch and her dog.”
Without warning JJ lunged forward, shoving Rafe back and swinging, trying to punch him. When Kelce tried to grab him John B intervened, getting Kelce in a choke hold. It took a second for all six of the boys to become involved in the fight as Kiara urged Sarah to call the cops. Rafe punched JJ, sending him back into the sand and getting on top of him, hitting him repeatedly while Topper held off Pope and John B and Kelce fought with each other.
“Stop it,” Kiara grabbed at Topper, trying to pull him off Pope and Sarah just stood there frozen.
You went for Rafe, trying to push him off JJ. When you grabbed his arm he pulled away only to throw his elbow back, colliding with your stomach and sending you to the ground. It was all the momentum that JJ seemed to need to shove Rafe off him and get the upper hand, kicking him in the stomach a couple times.
“Get the fuck out!” He shouted, spitting on your ex-boyfriend.
Topper let go of Pope and grabbed Rafe’s arm, helping him up and pulling him away, Kelce breaking away from John B and following them back to theirs, away from the party. The six of you stood there in silence, trying to process what had just happened.
“Some party.” Pope finally said and Kiara glared at him.
“Didn’t I say this week would be shit.” JJ said, looking over at you before turning and heading out toward the beach.
“Let’s just go back inside.” Sarah pleaded.
“Why were they even here?” Pope asked, casting a glance your way.
“Topper said someone texted Rafe about the party.” You said, “could have been anyone...he’s been down here with me before, he knows some of my Keys friends.”
“Whatever,” Kiara cut in, “we have three days left and I would love if we could just, not see them again for 72 hours. Is that possible?”
“I hope so.”
-
“I had a feeling you’d still be out here.” You said, walking up behind JJ on the beach. The light from the houses behind you did little to illuminate the night. The waves were lapping up the sand at JJ’s feet and he made no sign that he even knew you were there. You dropped the blanket you had around your shoulders and sat down, not bothering to straighten out the corners. “I know you’re pissed-“
“I’m not pissed.” He said, digging his heels in further. “I just...you and Rafe, seriously?”
“It was different, at the beginning.”
“That’s just an excuse.”
“Maybe but...I was 14 when we first started dating and I really thought he liked me. But, he just liked that I was insecure and he tries to remind me of that every time he sees me.” You explained. “Rafe being down here doesn’t change what happened at the water park, I didn’t just kiss you because of him.”
It’d happened during the lazy river ride that you had forced JJ to go on. He had spent most of the ride pushing your innertube with his foot and trying to tip you until it finally happened and you went over, sputtering to the surface and trying to grab at your inflatable tube as passersby tried to avoid the two of you. You’d pushed his innertube over in retaliation and he’d abandoned it to grab you and try to dunk you underwater.
Serendipitous maybe, as you twisted in his arms, turning to face him, he’d leaned down and kissed you.
“He keeps showing up.”
“I didn’t invite him.”
JJ looked back at you before rubbing the heel of his hand across his cheeks and sniffing to get rid of the literal waterworks he’d been two seconds away from. This wasn’t the vacation he had signed up for. And maybe there had been some good parts so far but the complicated bits were starting to outweigh everything else. Still, he shifted back so he could sit on the blanket with you; a step in the right direction you hoped.
“What’s in the bag?” He asked, looking over at the backpack you’d carried all the way out here with you.
“I didn’t think you would want to go back to the party so I brought the party with me.” You replied, unzipping the main compartment to reveal the alcohol you had swiped from the house. “I don’t know if you wanna party with me-“
“Shut up and pass me a beer.”
You smiled, grabbing a beer from the bag and handing it to JJ. Without warning he grabbed your wrist and pulled you toward him, leaning back on his other elbow as he did. You caught yourself, pressing your hand into the blanket to hold yourself up and realizing you were hovering over him.
“I, uh-“ you stammered, licking your lips briefly before JJ let go of your wrist and put his hand on the back of your neck, leading you into a kiss. You kissed back, ignoring the feeling of the beer bottle cap scratching your hand as you shifted to be closer to JJ, moving your knee between his legs so you were almost straddling him.
“Are you sure?” You asked when you pulled away to move your hand from the beer bottle. You frowned when you glanced at it, holding it up so JJ could see the cut. He took your wrist, kissing over the small cut on your palm. “I’m not really good at casual things,” you admitted.
“Is that what this is?”
You shook your head before leaning in to kiss him again. While you held yourself up with the hand that had been cut by the beer bottle your other hand moved to JJ’s stomach, fingers slipping beneath his shirt and dancing along the soft skin of his abdomen, just above his shorts. His grip on the back of your neck tightened ever so slightly as he held your face to his, pulling out of the kiss for the briefest of moments to look at you, “Are you sure?” He repeated your question though it had a different meaning.
“Yeah.” You nodded. It was dead on the beach this time of night and you were far enough down toward the water that no one could really see you from the houses though that didn’t stop this from being the most daring thing you’d ever done.
JJ shifted so that he was laying back on the blanket, pushing the backpack away from his body as you straddled his waist. His hands went to your hips, running over your ass and settling on the backs of your thighs when you leaned all the way forward to kiss him, bodies practically pressed together. You kissed along his jaw and down his neck, sucking a bruise into his skin. JJ’s breathing picked up as your right hand moved between your bodies, fingers unbuttoning and unzipping his shorts before you slipped your hand beneath them, grasping him. JJ bit down on his lip as he moaned, the sound coming up from his chest.
You pulled away from him, cool air rushing between your bodies as you sat back on your heels. He watched you, heart pounding in his chest, as you put your hands on the waistband of his shorts, ready to pull them down, “God, why are you not in a swimsuit.”
“Excuse me for not knowing I was gonna get lucky on the beach.”
“I’m gonna leave you on the beach for saying that,” you teased.
JJ’s hands held you in a vice grip, squeezing your hips, “not a chance.” He replied. He ran his hands up your sides to the hem of your bralette, fingers nudging the fabric up and you caught on to what he wanted, obliging him by lifting the top up over your head and tossing it to the side.
Your original plan of action went to hell though you could be upset when JJ wrapped his arms around your back and sat himself up, knocking you back and laying you down so he could hover over you. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders as he kissed you.
“That was a neat trick.” You managed as he mirrored the hickey you’d left on him on your own neck. He smiled against your skin as his right hand moved across your stomach, fingers brushing against the underside of your breast. His mouth travelled down from your neck, kissing between your breasts before moving to the left, tongue darting out to flick over your nipple. His fingers twisted your other nipple at the same time and you tensed, hips shooting up to try and create some friction with his own. He sucks another bruise into your skin, just below your left breast before moving back up to kiss you.
The new position made it easier to get his shorts and briefs down and you manage to push them down to his thighs after you rid yourself of your own shorts. JJ leans his forehead against your collar, looking down at you with a sly smile. “No underwear?”
“I was in a hurry to get dressed.” You insisted, “now shut up.”
“I’m not the chatty one.”
“I’m not - holy shit!” You cursed as he slipped his hand between your thighs, coating his fingers before rubbing your clit. His middle finger circled the bundle of nerves before slipping down inside of you, just barely offering anything before repeating the cycle. When he kissed you he slipped his tongue in your mouth and you bit down gently, not enough to hurt him but enough to getting him going.
You tried to press yourself up into his hand but he pushed you down, slick fingers digging into your skin as he pressed you against the blanket. You whimpered when he pushed his hips into yours, his dick rubbing over your clit and you grip his hair as he tilts his head down to kiss and nip at your breasts again.
“Please, Jay,” you begged, unashamed and completely oblivious to your surroundings as he lined himself up and thrust in to you. He stilled for a moment once he was completely in, savoring the feeling of you until you tugged his hair. “Move.”
“God, you’re so desperate for me.” He teased, kissing beneath your chin and along your neck.
Finally he moves, thrusting into you. His pace quickens and you wrap your arms around him, digging your fingers into his back. He groans from the almost pain of the feeling, his hips hitting yours harder to give back as much as you’re giving him. You pulled him closer so that you could kiss him again. You’d be lying if you said that you had been on edge with JJ all day. That every touch and smile, the kiss in the lazy river, it all felt like foreplay as he thrust into you now, slipping his hand between your legs to rub your clit as he did, pushing you closer to the edge.
“JJ,” you whimpered, muscles in your stomach clenching as you felt yourself approaching your high.
JJ pressed his face into your neck, biting again at your collar, “I know,” was all he said, repeating it again when the rhythm he’d built up wavered slightly as he felt his own release approaching, “I know.”
One hand fisted the blanket beneath you as your release hit. You came, his name the only thing you could think of, and he came right after, the feeling of you tightening around him enough to pull an orgasm out of him. JJ held himself up on one arm, trembling above you, still connected as his hips still, his eyes on yours.
You sucked in a breath as he kissed the tender skin of your collar, red from his teeth, “have you ever gone skinny dipping?” You asked.
“Not in the Keys.” He replied, letting his upper body fall against you as well, all of him pressing into you.
“When I can move again...want to?”
