in a modern au, i feel like steve would use “:)” a lot when he texts, no matter if the message he sent needs to have a smiley face. for example, in this universe steve, tommy and carol are still friends and when tommy sends steve 14 minute long voice messages ranting about some dude who pissed him off during practice, steve will just go “beat his ass :)”. whenever carol sends him paragraphs complaining about tommy he’ll just go “i didn’t read all that, just dump his ass :)” because he knows that even if carol listens to him and breaks up with tommy, they always end up back together at the end of the day.

billy, however, is the world driest texter and he uses one word responses and emojis to reply to people. someone sends him a super long paragraph complaining about their day? “👍”. max tells him he needs to pick her up and drop her off at the movie theater so she and lucas can have a date? “🙄”. those are the two emojis he uses the most. all his one word replies are things like ‘fine’, ‘ok’, and ‘whatever’.

billy uses those emojis so much that once, someone from the party used 👍 to reply to a message in the gc and everyone started going “thanks for the reply, billy” “when did billy get here?” “billycore aesthetic”, etc.

the only time he changed things up is when steve sent a pic of him shirtless at the lake he had gone to with robin and nancy to the gc and billy replied with a “😏”. the whole party thought that billy was being possessed by an alien.

billy and steve don’t text each other much because they’re always together but when they do, it’s things like ‘get more milk’ or ‘get ur annoying kids pls’ or the dreaded ‘where the fuck are you? :)’.

anyways, yeah. steve giving bad advice with a smile and billy not wanting to speak more than 2 words to people is my aesthetic. you’re free to add more to this, like your thoughts on this or whatever.
