The Love of My Dreams

Warning: Character death, blood

The distant boom made shivers run down her spine as she stood at the tower of Astronomy. Her hands clung to the railing seeking comfort from the cold metal.

The sound of footsteps echoed around the tower. She immediately drew her wand at the intruder.

"It's just me, love" Remus lit up his wand, his smile growing as he saw her features soften. He closed the distance between them as if it was second nature to be in her arms.

She sighed as she laid her head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat. She knew it was not for her. For years, now Y/n L/n has loved Remus Lupin only for his insecurity to come in between their blossoming romance.

She didn't doubt if he loved her or not. Because friends don't crave to touch each other yet she doesn't know if he feels for her like she feels for him. She can't even be mad at him because Remus is one of the smartest students in Hogwarts yet he can be dense in this department. He can't even believe how much his friends care about him so the idea of someone loving him is out of the window.

He pulled up her chin with his finger, making her look at him. She loved how he looked at her now but hated how he never expressed it. She would be left to her own thoughts later that night trying to guess what he meant.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked as if she has not told him enough amount of times that it's only him she can think about

She sighed, "nothing". The war is raging outside she knows the death eaters will be here any moment ready to take their lives. She averted her gaze away from him only for him to make her look back at him.

"You worry, dove" his touch was so gentle on her cheek that she almost forgot that their life is in danger right now. But that was Remus Lupin's effect on her.

"And what do you suggest I do instead? Not worry when our life is in danger? And we don't even know how our friends are right now" Her palm grew sweatier as she spoke. Her whole body tensed thinking about her friends being at the end of the wand of a death eater.

"Y/n-

Before Remus could say more Y/n held his shoulders. Tears threatened to drop from her eyes as she looked into his chocolate brown eyes she had grown to love. She knew she had to say it before they take her away from him.

"Remus, I know you will never feel for me but my soul aches for you and I know you don't feel the same, I just wanted to let you know I will always love you till my existence and beyond even if you won't be able to."

By now tears were streaming down her cheeks as Remus held her face ever so gently. They never looked away. She expected to see disappointment in his eyes but all she could find was hope.

He opened his mouth to say something when they heard a familiar voice. Too familiar.

"Moony" Peter huffed as he climbed the stairs "ahh saying your goodbyes to your honey?" Remus pointed his wand at Peter. Peter turned Remus' and Y/n's wand into ashes

Remus immediately shielded her with his own body. She gripped his arms trying to move him away but to no avail. Peter snickered as he drew his wand "oh ho oh is that fear I see in your eyes Lupin?" Shivers ran down Remus' spine as Peter walked slowly towards him.

"If only my lord would have been to witness this. A wolf is scared of a rat. So poetic. He would be so proud of me" Remus couldn't recognize his friend anymore. It was like the Peter he knew was just a part of an illusion. A distant memory that was made up by his brain to make up for the fact that he was lonely

"Let her go, Peter."

Peter scoffed when they sensed another darker presence. Peter kneeled down in front of him with tears brimming his eyes "my lord"

The dark lord caressed Peter's face clearly proud of what he has done. "You shall be rewarded. Tell me what you want and you shall receive"

Peter had a crazed look in his eyes his fingers trembled as he pointed it at Remus and Y/n "I want to watch them suffer my lord. Please, I want him to beg me for forgiveness, I want at my mercy, my lord"

The dark lord grimaced at his words. Just because he was able to scare his friends he thinks he is above the dark lord. But he decided to let it slide this time.

"You know normally I don't waste my powers on the likes of you. But my subject has proved to me his loyalty and power. I guess I can do this one thing for him"

Voldemort flicked his wand and left the Astronomy Tower with Peter as Remus and Y/n wailed in agony waiting for their end to come.

Y/n laid there on the cold floor as blood seeped from her body. Her ears rang as she turned around to Remus trying to reach her hand. Her throat felt dry as she saw him bleed on the floor. She tried to get up but her body didn't cooperate.

"y-y/n..." Remus' bloody hand stopped midway. She couldn't hear herself wail when she saw Remus' soul leave his body. She tried to get up again only to slip on her own blood.

"Remmy, no ple...please..n-no" she dragged her body towards him. She held him and put all the strength in her body to give him chest compressions. "Remus". She continued giving him chest compressions until her body surrendered and she fell beside him.

She didn't dare look into his now lifeless eyes and cried into his warm sweater that was soaked with his dried blood. She held onto his limp body trying to find the same comfort she used to find but it felt so cold, so foreign.

She looked up and closed his eyes so could not see the eyes she once saw her life in. She laid in his arms as she felt more tired, and she laid her hand on his cold cheek. She was turning more breathless as it was getting more painful to breathe.

"if....if...we were...ahh...meant to be...to-together....we..we will meet...again." Tears fell down her cheeks "please...please"

Her hand dropped from his cheek as her eyes finally lost her soul.

Remus glared at Colin who was basking in all the compliments as he closed the deal with the Zabini’s. He looked at all the notes he made while he was up all night for the past week only for Colin to come in to swoop all the credit for the work he did.

His chair creaked as he got up for the office washroom. He opened the door and went in even if it reeked of piss and smoke. He exhaustively sighed he could really use a smoke right now. He looked in the mirror the bags under his eyes had gotten darker.

He hasn’t caught a wink of sleep ever since he got here. He brought all of his belongings at his home, decorated his workspace with his knick knacks and pictures from back home. Yet he never felt like he belonged here. That years will pass and he will still remain a stranger.

He opened the tap and washed his face with the cold water. A sign that he had to get some rest. He sighed and quickly dried himself and got out of there before he passed out due the stench. When he walked out they were only few people now celebrating Colin’s success. Others back to their work. He noticed Colin calling him and he walked towards him begrudgingly.

Colin patted his shoulder “Remus buddy, in the honor of me getting the client back I am hosting a party and you are invited as well”

Remus had to hold himself back from scoffing and smiled like this didn’t bother him. How badly he wanted to knock Colin’s teeth out. Is that illegal? Probably keep it a fantasy. Everyone cheered at the mention of the party. He hoped at least the food is good

It felt so stuffed in here. It felt like Colin had invited literally anyone he knew. Remus felt left out. He missed his friends more than anything. Sirius would have taken just one glance at him and leave the girl he was flirting with immediately. Or James would rub his shoulders and try to distract him. Lily would get him water and would banter with James to make Remus laugh.

His eyes teared up. He hated it here. He took a deep breath and tried to distract his mind. No he moved here for a better lifestyle, to make something for himself, to make his family and friends proud. He felt like he couldn’t breath anymore. It felt like the house was getting smaller. The laughs of the guests echoing in his ears. His vision blurring. Someone held his hand. It was soft, felt familiar. The person led him outside of the home. Then he heard her voice as she rubbed his back gently.

His vision still blurry as her face becomes clearer. Her eyes. The world faded for Remus Lupin as he took her in. Her touch. Her voice. Her. It all felt so similar.

“Hey you alright?”

Her voice distracted him. He nodded as he tried to regain his breath. She softly smiled at him as she handed him a glass of water. Where did she get that from? He drank up the water and felt her eyes on him. Did she feel the same?

Y/n’s jaw tightened as she closed the microwave door trying not to slam it. This is not the first time Colin had held a party at his home without her knowledge. This was no longer her home with how he treated her. The microwave beeped indicating the dish was done. She carefully took out and got it ready to serve the guests.

They thanked and complimented her on her cooking as they ate. She looked around trying to find Colin when she found a man standing in the corner. She noticed his chest heaving irregularly. She immediately took a glass of water and went towards him. She gently held his hand and led him outside. She gently rubbed his back. She realised he might be having a panic attack. She finally spoke up “Hey you alright?”

He looked up. Now she felt like she forgot how to breath. His eyes. His scars. Him. The world faded for Y/n L/n as she took him in. He felt so familiar.

His mouth slightly opened only for Colin to interrupt. Both of them were pulled out of…whatever they felt right now. Only glancing back at each other once before Y/n went to Colin.

Remus took a deep breath and said her name like she was a part of his haunting past..something he couldn’t get rid of even if he wanted to. He felt like he lost a part of himself when she left with Colin. He just met her today why did he feel like this?

Y/n was in a daze. She tuned out whatever Colin was telling her. She tried to shake off this feeling and focus on him, her boyfriend of 5 years. Not on the man she just met. Did she meet him before?

No. She shook her head. She would have remembered someone like him. His eyes looked so gentle yet so somber. But his smile must be bright. She thought to herself and immediately went to the kitchen to make herself busy.

She is committing a sin. Thinking about another man while being committed to another. She is becoming the thing she hated the most. Her mind was running at the speed of a bullet train. How did she dream about him when she only met him today?

It didn't matter. She had to forget about him. Like he doesn't exist. Like she never saw him. His forest green eyes, his messy sandy blonde hair, his soft brown overused sweater that felt like....home.

She felt like running away never to look behind. She felt so guilty. Colin didn't deserve this. She looked out of his kitchen door watching him as he cachinnates with his friends. She sighed and got back to making snacks and beverages for the guests diverting her mind from the man

ten small habits to start doing ♡

never go to the bathroom with your phone. It's gross , wastes time , and spreads germs.

are you a forgetful person? set alarms and reminders for things you need to do (drinking water , homework , showering, etc)

be kind! always say hi to people you know and smile at strangers. don't be afraid to compliment people too!!

cant be bothered exercising? try dancing instead. this could be learning a new dance , a Kpop choreography , literally anything!

put screen-time on your phone/devices. maybe start off with 10pm - 7am being the time that you shouldn't be on any devices, and then gradually increase it. it will help you be more productive and sleep better.

if you have a sweet tooth like me but are still trying to be healthy , try starting off the day with something sweet! fruits and oats , honey and porridge , french toast , pancakes , etc.

try cooking/baking/making something new each week. i allocate a Sunday each week to looking through a recipe book , walking down to a grocery store , coming back and baking something! cooking is a very helpful skill.

double cleanse your face every morning and night. even if you don't wear makeup , it helps get rid of any excess dirt and leaves your face fresh and clean!

when using skincare (more specifically moisturiser), never rub the product into your skin in a downward motion! it can drag your face down over time. try an upward or circular motion instead.

keep your house tidy , especially your room / workspace. tidy space = tidy mind.
