Everyone said being friends with Eddie Munson was social suicide. That talking to the “freak” would ruin a person image, and furthermore, their life.
It was quite ridiculous. Sure, Eddie did a good job of making fun of himself, therefore making it harder for anyone to realistically bully him. He took the story in his own hands, something you thought was sweet. And to be perfectly honest, you thought he was cute. Of course that was something you kept to yourself… sort of.
Eddie’s yelling is what pulls your attention that day at lunch, “THAT’S WHAT’S KILLING THE KIDS!” He lets some cheerleaders walk past him, smiling at them warmly. You cant help but laugh. Not at him, per say.
Your friends sneer, looking at him like hes not more than dirt on the bottom of their shoe, “he’s sincerely so annoying. If he didn’t fuck around, he might actually be cute.” Piper has a habit of hating anyone who is different from her. That wasn’t unusual.
But that also wasn’t how you rolled. Sure, you were friends, but it didn’t mean you condoned that behavior. “Piper, don’t talk like that. You just don’t like him cause he’s different and loud.” Now its your turn to roll your eyes at her.
“Why are you sticking up for him? Do you see the way he acts? He’s just as much of a bully as the basketball players are.” Jason mutters from beside you. It was frustrating talking to people who couldn’t accept that someone is different from them.
So, you get up, tossing the rest of your uneaten lunch in the trash and deciding to take a walk. You couldn’t stand your friends, but you also didn’t want to drop them. Making friends wasn’t easy and the last thing you wanted was to be eating alone at lunch. So, you dealt with it. They never said anything to anyone they disliked so you figured they wouldn’t be that bad.
You wrap your arms around yourself, walking deeper into the woods. You couldn’t wait to graduate, leaving Hawkins behind to go to a college in a warm climate.
You hit something hard, making you let out a small yelp.
“Oh! I am so sorry I wasn’t… paying attention.” Eddie Munson is staring down at you, holding your arms and keeping you steady.
You laugh awkwardly, your face growing warm from embarrassment, you should’ve been watching where you were going, “N-no I should be sorry. I wasn’t paying attention.” You can practically feel the lightening coming from the spots where he is holding you.
And you’re almost sad when he lets go, immediately missing his heat as he steps back, “have nothing to be sorry ‘bout sweetheart. I’m the one who needs to be more careful. Don’t wanna mark up your pretty skin.” He shooks you a wink and a little smile. And it’s then that you realize just how devastatingly beautiful you find him?
“I- I better get to fourth period. Ms. Carlisle will kill me if I’m late.” You mutter, your eyes barely meeting his, arms still wrapped around yourself.
“Be safe out there sweetheart, there are some scary men in this school.” He laughs a little, awkwardly tapping your shoulder in a friendly way. You know he’s referring to himself, but little did he know, you didn’t find him scary in the slightest.
It’s been close to three days since Eddie’s little encounter with you in the woods. And he hasn’t stopped thinking about you since. Of course, he hasn’t stopped thinking about you since fifth grade when you gave him a Valentine with his favorite candy at the schools Valentine’s Day party.
He knows it’s stupid, he just doesn’t care.
Well, that and the fact that he knows you could never like someone like him. Because, frankly, being friends with him equaled social suicide. And dating him? Practically the end of the world. And he couldn’t lie, that knowledge did kind of hurt him. But he would never show it, nor tell anyone. He only had a few months before he was finally out of that shit hole they called Hawkins high.
But, he couldn’t deny the electricity he felt in his finger tips as he steadied you. It wasn’t anything he’s ever felt before but it damn sure was something he wanted to feel again.
“Dude what is wrong with you today?” Dustin hits his elbow off the table, nearly making Eddie smack his face.
Jokingly, he punches Dustin in the arm, “nothing? I’m just super stressed about passing. S’all.”
They all know that’s bullshit, “Dude you’ve been staring that they girl over there like a god damn stalker. You like her or somethin’?”
He knew he could easily lie. In fact, that’s exactly what he should’ve done. But he doesn’t, knowing Dustin would eventually draw it out of him. “Okay kind of? But I barely know her. And besides, she wont like me back so I’m not worryin’ myself with it. Frankly, I wanna get the fuck out of this school.”
That was the truth. He needed out, and he needed it now. But he wouldn’t drop out. No way. He swore he’d never be like his father and he meant it. He was graduating even if it damn near kills him.
Dustin looks over at Mike, rolling his eyes and muttering a “he’s as oblivious as we thought.”
Eddie rears back, a little shocked, “I am not oblivious?”
Mike nods, taking a sip of his drink, “yes you are. She’s been sneaking look at you all lunch. And she looks away every time you guys lock eyes. Theoretically, you guys should just kiss in front of the entire school. Be less painful to watch then this…” he waves his hand around “this pining shit.”
Alls Eddie can do is blink at them, truly stunned that he was caught staring by his friends. And here he thought he was slick.
“Did you knuckleheads not hear a god damn thing I said?”
Dustin shakes his head, “we heard you. Just go get her number! She’s a girl. She isnt going to bite you… Well she might but only if you ask really, really nicely.” He flutters his lashes at Eddie, creeping in closer and grinning wildly
Eddie squints at him, “get away from me before I knock ya teeth out.”
“You’re a dick,” but he laughs anyway, knowing Eddie would never.
It’d been nearly a week now since you ran into Eddie. And since then, he’s done all he can to avoid you. You figured it was because he didn’t like you. That was until you caught him staring at you from the lunch table.
You also may have overheard the conversation. The tables were close enough.
And now, you had made the executive choice to get his number, maybe even invite him on a picnic.
“E-Eddie!” you call out to him, stopping him before he can get in his van.
He turns around, that devastatingly beautiful smile appearing. It nearly knocks you to the ground.
“Sweetheart! Hi. What can I do for you?” His voice light and sweet.
You cant help the shyness that creeps in. You always got nervous when you talked to others, more so people you didn’t know. Rejection wasn’t something you liked. Rocking on your toes, you take a deep breath, trying to remain cool, calm and collected.
“I, um…” you start quietly. “I just wanted to give you this… you don’t have to do anything with it. I mean, if you throw it away that-that’s your prerogative. But, um, if-if you didn’t do that… then feel free to use it!” You cut yourself off before you can ramble further. Piper told you that it’s annoying and unattractive which is the last thing you want to be to Eddie. You shakily hand him the paper, watching him open and smile at it.
“Aw, is this your number?” He’s not infantilizing you as he says it. He genuinely seems excited, though you can tell he’s trying to keep those feeling reigned in.
You nod, happy that he took it and didn’t reject you… yet. “It is. We should hang out sometime. Maybe see a movie or get ice cream.” You shrug, “ya know… whatever you think is fun.”
He smiles wider, making his eye crinkle a little. It’s cute. HE’S cute. And you knew that he could break your heart. But it didn’t matter. He could chew you up and spit you out and you’d thank him.
“I’ll let you know when I’m free.” And before you can answer, he hops in his van and drives away.
You take it as a win, for now.
Eddie cant deny the feeling inside his chest. It’s a mix of anxiety and pure delight. You actually gave him your number. AND invited him to hang out. And all he said was “I’ll let you know.”
“Idiot. You should’ve made plans right there. You’re such a pussy.” He berates himself as he drives.
Truly, he didn’t understand how someone like you would want to ruin her life with someone like him. I mean, its not like he was actually going to do something extravagant in life.
Or well, that is according to his teachers.
But that didn’t matter. All Eddie knew was that you gave him your number and, to him, it didn’t seem like a pity action. To him, it was genuine and insanely cute how nervous you were. It was then that he decided he was going to get you to stick around for as long as you’d have him.
Were you terrified he wasn’t going to call you? Yes.
Were you scared giving him your number was a mistake? Absolutely.
Did you lie awake all night waiting for him to call you? Maybe. Jury was still out on that one.
You looked over at your alarm clock that read 3:03 am. The witching hour. You couldn’t help but feel slightly embarrassed, feeling like you possibly read the situation wrong.
But you felt the electricity in his touch and the emotion in his eyes. Those are things you cant fake.
The ringing phone pulled you from your spiraling. You were quick to answer, praying it didn’t wake up your parents.
“Hello?” You answer, keeping your voice slightly quiet.
“Sweetheart, hi! Its um, its Eddie.” You could hear the nervousness in his voice. Kind of like he had been fighting with himself on if he should call you or not.
You cant help but grin, it may be late but he did call you, “well hello there! I thought I’d maybe written my number down wrong or something.” You giggle a little so he knows you’re joking with him.
“Now that would be funny. But, um, I know it’s late and we have class tomorrow but I didn’t know if after you wanted to maybe get smoothies? I know you like reading so maybe go to the book store? If-if you want?” Nerves clear in his voice.
The gesture was sweet, making little butterflies in your stomach. You, hanging out with Eddie Munson? A dream come true, honestly.
“I’d love that! Maybe I can convince you to read a book with me, like a little book club or something like that.”
He laughs, the sound washing over you and settling deep in your bones. You could listen to that sound on repeat; bottle it up and keep it for a rainy day. “We’ll see.” So not technically a no. Again, you’d take it as a win.
Eddie spent that entire school day distracted, nerves eating him up inside.
What if you didn’t like him?
What if you thought he was too weird?
What if you ran away screaming?
What if-
“Earth to Eddie? Hello?!” Dustin snaps in his face, drawing him out of his self loathing.
“Don’t snap at me like that. S’rude.”
Dustin rolls his eyes, “you’ve been bouncing your leg for the last twenty minutes, staring at the lunch table, looking like you’re about to vomit…” His eyes grow big with realization, “Which means you asked out y/n, huh?” Now hes giddy, staring at Eddie with those big eyes.
Eddie waves a hand, trying to pretend like it wasn’t a big deal, even though to him it was, “if you must know, yeah. We’re hangin’ out after school.”
Mike perks up, grinning at his friend, “oooooh, look at you go! Where are you taking her?”
Eddie grumbles a little, but he deny it kind of makes him happy his friends care. Kind of being the key word. Mainly because, he didn’t want them to do something to fuck up his chances with you. He already knew the ‘risk’ you were taking by giving him your number. He didn’t want you to slip through his fingers before he even had a chance to hold you.
“Were getting smoothies and going to the book store.”
The table is quiet for a minute, everyone staring at him before they all burst out laughing. He knows they aren’t necessarily laughing at him, but it does make him feel a tiny bit annoyed.
“You cant be serious? You don’t read.” Dustin says between laughs.
Eddie rolls his eyes, “just because I don’t read the books this prison makes me read, doesn’t mean I don’t like it.” He shrugs, “I read magazines all the time.”
“That’s not the same.” Mike teases.
Eddie shrugs, “whatever. That’s what she likes so that’s what we’re doing. I’ll make sure to come back with a detailed report considering you all got your noses in my… dating life.”
The table laughs some more before Eddie swaps the topic. But his mind is still occupied on one thing.
You.
“Ready to go, sweetheart?” Eddie comes up next to you after the bell rings, letting everyone go home for the day.
You grin up at him, enjoying the way his eyes light up when you’re around. “Absolutely! I’m so excited. My favorite author just released a new book so this is perfect timing! It’s a continuation of a series I already read and I’m pumped for the new one.” His attention makes you ramble, meaning you’re nervous. You mentally slap yourself, not wanting to scare him away on the first… whatever this was. Date? Friendly gesture?
He opens the door for you, letting you climb in before coming around to his side. “Well that sounds very exciting and I cant wait to hear all about it.”
You sip your smoothie as you peruse the aisles, scanning the shelves for the book, “this one?” Eddie holds up the book you’ve been lookin for, triumph on his face.
You grin, skipping over to him and gently taking it from his hands, flipping through. “Oh my god that’s the one! You’re amazing!” You get up on your tiptoes and kiss his cheek before you can think about it.
You pull away, realizing what you just did. You can feel your face get warm, Eddie’s growing red from a blush.
“I’m amazing? Nah, you are.” He gets closer, boxing you in against the bookshelf. No one was around, you knew that, but you can’t deny the excitement of someone seeing you two. Obviously nothing nefarious was happing, but the point stands.
“You-you are amazing too. So s-sweet.” Your eyes shift between his lips and his eyes. Gods, you wanted to kiss him. You’d wanted to kiss him for so long. And here he was, so close you could feel his body heat sinking into your bones. His smell engulfing you. It made you dizzy, but you didn’t want it to stop.
“Me? Sweet? According to everyone else I’m mean and scary.” You know he’s teasing, but the soft flash of self doubt flashes in his eyes, leaving just as fast as it came.
You shake your head, trying to swallow the knot in your throat. It didn’t work. “You’ve never been mean and scary. Always been so kind and sweet. Perfect.” Your voice comes out embarrassingly breathy, quieter than you wanted it to.
Eddie didn’t seem to mind. In fact, it only served to bring him closer to you, his lips inches from yours. You silently begged for him closer. For him to close the gap and just fucking kiss you already. “Perfect? No ones ever called me that before.”
You nod, “perfect. Just so, so perfect.” You decide to take the lead, closing the gap between you and him, brushing your lips over his to test the waters.
You feel his breath hitch before he melts into it. His hands wrapping around the back of your neck to hold you in place. The kiss is sweet, his lips soft and plump against yours.
Of course you’d been kissed before, but this kiss? This kiss felt like coming home. A feeling only talked about between the pages of your books.
He deepens it, tongue softly running over the seam of your mouth begging for entry. And the second your grant it, he’s exploring your mouth. You aren’t sure why, but you can feel the emotion in it. The way he’s holding you, like you’re sand that’s going to slip away when the tide comes in.
But you wouldn’t. Not unless he asked you to.
He breaks the kiss, panting slightly. His lips swollen and beautiful. “Wow” is all he can say as his eyes find yours.
You nod, “wow is right.” You don’t really know what else to say.
You can his mind working, trying to think of something to say. And then, “why me?” His soft voice almost too quiet to hear.
“Because you’re uniquely you.” You know it sounds cheesy, but it’s the truth. He deserved to know he was appreciated. “You make the bad days good. I’m always laughing when you’re around. And you’re just incredibly kind.” You shrug, “I wish more people got to know you like this.”
A soft smile pulls at the corner of his lips, “wanna know a secret?”
Your eyes get big and you nod quickly at him. If there was one thing you loved, it was secrets.
“I’ve had a crush on you since our fifth grade Valentine’s Day party in Ms. Kathys class.” You watch his cheeks go pink at the admission.
A small giggle bubbles in your chest, “I asked so many people what kind of candy you liked because I wanted you to notice me. I sort of had a crush on you too. And it never really went away.”
He kisses you again. This time its short, just a peck, but to you it’s just as sweet as the first one. “Maybe we can act on our crushes. Actually date.” He laughs awkwardly, “make our fifth grade selves proud?”
“Eddie Munson are you asking me to be your girlfriend?” You smile so big at him, the butterflies filling your veins when he smiles back.
“I am. I think we’d be a good match. Plus, I want in on this book club. The back of this book seems very interesting.” He wiggles his brows and your face grows hot at his implication.
“Then lets get two and head to my place. We can start the first ones.”
He smirks, kissing you once more before taking your hand, “I couldn’t be more excited.”

Seeing the Beauty (Piper McLean x Fem!Jackson!Reader) - Chapter 14
Series Masterlist
Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
Piper dreams she's back in Medea's department store. "Please let this be a dream," she mutters, "and not my eternal punishment."
"No, dear," says a woman's honey-sweet voice. "No punishment."
Piper turns, afraid she'd see Medea, but a different woman stands next to her, browsing through the fifty-percent-off rack.
The woman is gorgeous — shoulder-length hair, a graceful neck, perfect features, and an amazing figure tucked into jeans and a snowy white top.
Piper had seen her share of actresses — most of her dad's dates were knockout beautiful — but this lady is different. She's elegant without trying, fashionable without effort, stunning without makeup. After seeing Aeolus with his silly face-lifts and cosmetics, Piper thinks this woman looked even more astonishing. There's nothing artificial about her.
As Piper watches, the woman's appearance changes. Piper can't decide the color of her eyes, or the exact color of her hair. The woman becomes more and more beautiful, as if her image is aligning itself to Piper's thoughts — getting as close as possible to Piper's ideal of beauty.
"Aphrodite," Piper says. "Mom?"
The goddess smiles. "You're only dreaming, my sweet. If anyone wonders, I wasn't here. Okay?"
"I —" Piper wants to ask a thousand questions, but they all crowd together in her head.
Aphrodite holds up a turquoise dress. Piper thinks it looked awesome, but the goddess makes a face. "This isn't my color, is it? Pity, it's cute. Medea really does have some lovely things here."
"This — this building exploded," Piper stammers. "I saw it."
"Yes," Aphrodite agreed. "I suppose that's why everything's on sale. Just a memory, now." The goddess gestures around the department store. "You have other trials to face, my sweet. Medea will be back, along with many other enemies. The Doors of Death have opened."
"What do you mean?"
Aphrodite winks at her. "You're a smart one, Piper. You know."
A cold feeling settles over her. "The sleeping woman, the one Medea and Midas called their patron. She's managed to open a new entrance from the Underworld. She's letting the dead escape back into the world."
"Mmm. And not just any dead. The worst, the most powerful, the ones most likely to hate the gods."
"The monsters are coming back from Tartarus the same way," Piper guesses. "That's why they don't stay disintegrated."
"Yes, their patron, as you call her, has a special relationship with Tartarus, the spirit of the pit." Aphrodite holds up a gold sequined top. "No . . . this would make me look ridiculous."
Piper laughs uneasily. "You? You can't look anything but perfect."
"You're sweet," Aphrodite says. "But beauty is about finding the right fit, the most natural fit. To be perfect, you have to feel perfect about yourself — avoid trying to be something you're not. For a goddess, that's especially hard. We can change so easily."
"My dad thought you were perfect." Piper's voice quavers. "He never got over you."
Aphrodite's gaze becomes distant. "Yes . . . Tristan. Oh, he was amazing. So gentle and kind, funny and handsome. Yet he had so much sadness inside."
"Could we please not talk about him in the past tense?"
"I'm sorry, dear. I didn't want to leave your father, of course. It's always so hard, but it was for the best. If he had realized who I actually was —"
"Wait — he didn't know you were a goddess?"
"Of course not." Aphrodite sounds offended. "I wouldn't do that to him. For most mortals, that's simply too hard to accept. It can ruin their lives! Ask your friend Jason. His poor mother was destroyed when she found out she'd fallen in love with Zeus. No, it was much better Tristan believed that I was a mortal woman who left him without explanation. Better a bittersweet memory than an immortal, unattainable goddess. Which brings me to an important matter . . ." She opens her hand and shows Piper a glowing glass vial of pink liquid. "This is one of Medea's kinder mixtures. It erases only recent memories. When you save your father, if you can save him, you should give him this."
Piper can't believe what she was hearing. "You want me to dope my dad? You want me to make him forget what he's been through?"
Aphrodite holds up the vial. The liquid casts a pink glow over her face. "Your father acts confident, Piper, but he walks a fine line between two worlds. He's worked his whole life to deny the old stories about gods and spirits, yet he fears those stories might be real. He fears that he's shut off an important part of himself, and someday it will destroy him. Now he's been captured by a giant. He's living a nightmare. Even if he survives . . . if he has to spend the rest of his life with those memories, knowing that gods and spirits walk the earth, it will shatter him. That's what our enemy hopes for. She will break him, and thus break your spirit."
Piper wants to shout that Aphrodite was wrong. Her dad is the strongest person she knew. Piper would never take his memories the way Hera had taken (Y/n)'s.
But somehow she can't stay angry with Aphrodite. She remembers what her dad had said months ago, at the beach at Big Sur: If I really believed in Ghost Country, or animal spirits, or Greek gods . . . I don't think I could sleep at night. I'd always be looking for somebody to blame.
Now Piper wants someone to blame, too.
"Who is she?" Piper demands. "The one controlling the giants?"
Aphrodite purses her lips. She moves to the next rack, which holds battered armor and ripped togas, but Aphrodite looks through them as if they were designer outfits.
"You have a strong will," she muses. "I'm never given much credit among the gods. My children are laughed at. They're dismissed as conceited and shallow."
"Some of them are."
Aphrodite laughs. "Granted. Perhaps I'm conceited and shallow, too, sometimes. A girl has to indulge. Oh, this is nice." She picks up a burned and stained bronze breastplate and holds it up for Piper to see. "No?"
"No," Piper said. "Are you going to answer my question?"
"Patience, my sweet," the goddess says. "My point is that love is the most powerful motivator in the world. It spurs mortals to greatness. Their noblest, bravest acts are done for love."
Piper pulls out her dagger and studies its reflective blade. "Like Helen starting the Trojan War?"
"Ah, Katoptris." Aphrodite smiles. "I'm glad you found it. I get so much flack for that war, but honestly, Paris and Helen were a cute couple. And the heroes of that war are immortal now — at least in the memories of men. Love is powerful, Piper. It can bring even the gods to their knees. I told this to my son Aeneas when he escaped from Troy. He thought he had failed. He thought he was a loser! But he traveled to Italy —"
"And became the forebear of Rome."
"Exactly. You see, Piper, my children can be quite powerful. You can be quite powerful, because my lineage is unique. I am closer to the beginning of creation than any other Olympian."
Piper struggles to remember about Aphrodite's birth. "Didn't you . . . rise from the sea? Standing on a seashell?"
The goddess laughs. "That painter Botticelli had quite an imagination. I never stood on a seashell, thank you very much. But yes, I rose from the sea. The first beings to rise from Chaos were the Earth and Sky — Gaea and Ouranos. When their son, the Titan Kronos, killed Ouranos —"
"By chopping him to pieces with a scythe," Piper remembers.
Aphrodite wrinkles her nose. "Yes. The pieces of Ouranos fell into the sea. His immortal essence created seafoam. And from that foam —"
"You were born. I remember now. So you're —"
"The last child of Ouranos, who was greater than the gods or the Titans. So, in a strange way, I'm the eldest Olympian god. As I said, love is a powerful force. And you, my daughter, are much more than a pretty face. Which is why you already know who is waking the giants, and who has the power to open doors into the deepest parts of the earth." Aphrodite waits, as if she can sense Piper slowly putting together the pieces of a puzzle, which makes a dreadful picture.
"Gaea," Piper says. "The earth itself. That's our enemy."
She hopes Aphrodite would say no, but the goddess keeps her eyes on the rack of tattered armor. "She has slumbered for eons, but she is slowly waking. Even asleep, she is powerful, but once she wakes . . . we will be doomed. You must defeat the giants before that happens, and lull Gaea back into her slumber. Otherwise the rebellion has only begun. The dead will continue to rise. Monsters will regenerate with even greater speed. The giants will lay waste to the birthplace of the gods. And if they do that, all civilization will burn."
"But Gaea? Mother Earth?"
"Do not underestimate her," Aphrodite warns. "She is a cruel deity. She orchestrated Ouranos's death. She gave Kronos the sickle and urged him to kill his own father. While the Titans ruled the world, she slumbered in peace. But when the gods overthrew them, Gaea woke again in all her anger and gave birth to a new race — the giants — to destroy Olympus once and for all."
"And it's happening again," Piper says. "The rise of the giants."
Aphrodite nods. "Now you know. What will you do?"
"Me?" Piper clenches her fists. "What am I supposed to do? Put on a pretty dress and sweet-talk Gaea into going back to sleep?"
"I wish that would work," Aphrodite replies. "But no, you will have to find your own strengths, and fight for what you love. Like my favored ones, Helen and Paris. Like my son Aeneas."
"Helen and Paris died," Piper says.
"And Aeneas became a hero," the goddess counters. "The first great hero of Rome. The result will depend on you, Piper, but I will tell you this: The seven greatest demigods must be gathered to defeat the giants, and that effort will not succeed without you. When the two sides meet . . . you will be the mediator. You will determine whether there is friendship or bloodshed."
"What two sides?" Piper's vision begins to dim.
"You must wake soon, my child," says the goddess. "I do not always agree with Hera, but she's taken a bold risk, and I agree it must be done. Zeus has kept the two sides apart for too long. Only together will you have the power to save Olympus. Now, wake, and I hope you like the clothes I picked out."
"What clothes?" Piper demands, but the dream faded to black.
. . .
Piper wakes a table at a sidewalk café.
For a second, she thinks she's still dreaming. It's a sunny morning and the air is brisk but not unpleasant for sitting outside. At the other tables, a mix of bicyclists, business people, and college kids sit chatting and drinking coffee.
She can smell eucalyptus trees. Lots of foot traffic passes in front of quaint little shops. The street is lined with bottle-brush trees and blooming azaleas as though winter was a foreign concept.
In other words: they're in California.
Her friends sit in chairs around her — all of them with their hands calmly folded across their chests, dozing pleasantly. And they all have new clothes on. Piper looks down at her own outfit and gasps. "Mother!"
She yells louder than she meant. Jason flinches, bumping the table with his knees, and then all of them are awake.
"What?" Hedge demands. "Fight who? Where?"
"Falling!" Leo grabs the table. "No — not falling. Where are we?"
(Y/n) blinks, trying to get her bearings. She focuses on Piper and makes a little choking sound. "What are you wearing?"
Piper probably blushed. She's wearing the turquoise dress she'd seen in her dream, with black leggings and black leather boots. She had on her favorite silver charm bracelet, even though she'd left that back home in L.A., and her old snowboarding jacket from her dad, which amazingly goes with the outfit pretty well. She pulls out Katoptris, and judging from the reflection in the blade, she'd gotten her hair done, too.
"It's nothing," she says. "It's my —" She remembers Aphrodite's warning not to mention that they'd talked. "It's nothing."
Leo grins. "Aphrodite strikes again, huh? You're gonna be the best-dressed warrior in town, beauty queen."
"Hey, Leo." Jason nudges his arm. "You look at yourself recently?"
"What . . . oh."
All of them had been given a makeover. Leo was wearing pinstriped pants, black leather shoes, a white collarless shirt with suspenders, and his tool belt, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and a porkpie hat.
"God, Leo." Piper tries not to laugh. "I think my dad wore that to his last premiere, minus the tool belt."
"Hey, shut up!"
"I think he looks good," says Coach Hedge. "'Course, I look better."
The satyr is a pastel nightmare. Aphrodite had given him a baggy canary yellow zoot suit with two-tone shoes that fit over his hooves. He had a matching yellow broad-brimmed hat, a rose-colored shirt, a baby blue tie, and a blue carnation in his lapel, which Hedge sniffs and then eats.
Jason is wearing a baby blue collared, short sleeved dress shirt, tucked into khaki slacks, a pair of black dress shoes, and a navy blue tie.
"Well," (Y/n) says, "at least your mom overlooked me."
Piper knows that isn't exactly true. Looking at her, Piper's heart does a little tap dance. (Y/n) is dressed simply in black skinny jeans, a clean sea-green t-shirt, a black leather jacket. She has new track shoes on, her hair is newly trimmed, and she is wearing her bead necklace – four beads for four completed summers at camp, and on the necklace, is two wedding rings and Piper wonders if they're hers, or her parents. (Y/n)'s eyes are the same color as the sea in the distance. Aphrodite's message is clear: This one needs no improvement.
And Piper agrees.
"Anyway," she says uncomfortably, "how did we get here?"
"Oh, that would be Mellie," Hedge says, chewing happily on his carnation. "Those winds shot us halfway across the country, I'd guess. We would've been smashed flat on impact, but Mellie's last gift — a nice soft breeze — cushioned our fall."
"And she got fired for us," Leo says. "Man, we suck."
"Ah, she'll be fine," Hedge replies. "Besides, she couldn't help herself. I've got that effect on nymphs. I'll send her a message when we're through with this quest and help her figure something out. That is one aura I could settle down with and raise a herd of baby goats."
"I'm going to be sick," Piper fake gags. "Anyone else want coffee?"
"Coffee!" Hedge's grin was stained blue from the flower. "I love coffee!"
"Urn," Jason said, "but — money? Our packs?"
Piper looks down. Their packs are at their feet, and everything seems to still be there. She reaches into her coat pocket and feels two things she hadn't expected. One is a wad of cash. The other is a glass vial — the amnesia potion. She leaves the vial in her pocket and brings out the money.
Leo whistles. "Allowance? Piper, your mom rocks!"
"Waitress!" Hedge calls. "Six double espressos, and whatever these guys want. Put it on the girl's tab."
It doesn't take them long to figure out where they are. The menus say "Café Verve, Walnut Creek, CA." And according to the waitress, it is 9 a.m. on December 21, the winter solstice, which gives them three hours until Enceladus's deadline.
They don't have to wonder where Mount Diablo is, either. They can see it on the horizon, right at the end of the street. After the Rockies, Mount Diablo doesn't look very large, nor is it covered in snow. It seems downright peaceful, its golden creases marbled with gray-green trees. But size is deceptive with mountains, Piper knows. It's probably much bigger up close. And appearances are deceptive too. Here they are — back in California — supposedly her home — with sunny skies, mild weather, laid-back people, and a plate of chocolate chip scones with coffee. And only a few miles away, somewhere on that peaceful mountain, a super powerful, super-evil giant is about to have her father for lunch.
Leo pulls something out of his pocket — the old crayon drawing Aeolus had given him. Aphrodite must've thought it was important if she'd magically transferred it to his new outfit.
"What is that?" Piper asks.
Leo folds it up gingerly again and puts it away. "Nothing. You don't want to see my kindergarten artwork."
"It's more than that," Jason guesses. "Aeolus said it was the key to our success."
Leo shakes his head. "Not today. He was talking about . . . later."
"How can you be sure?" Piper asks.
"Trust me," Leo says. "Now — what's our game plan?"
Coach Hedge belches. He'd already had three espressos and a plate of doughnuts, along with two napkins and another flower from the vase on the table. He would've eaten the silverware, except Piper had slapped his hand.
"Climb the mountain," Hedge says. "Kill everything except Piper's dad. Leave."
"Thank you, General Eisenhower," Jason grumbles.
"Hey, I'm just saying!"
"Guys," Piper says. "There's more you need to know."
It's tricky, because she can't mention her mom; but she tells them she'd figured some things out in her dreams. She tells them about their real enemy: Gaea.
"Gaea?" Leo shakes his head. "Isn't that Mother Nature? She's supposed to have, like, flowers in her hair and birds singing around her and deer and rabbits doing her laundry."
"Leo, that's Snow White," Piper looks amused.
"Okay, but —"
"Listen, cupcake." Coach Hedge dabs the espresso out of his goatee. "Piper's telling us some serious stuff, here. Gaea's no softie. I'm not even sure I could take her."
Leo whistles. "Really?"
Hedge nods. "This earth lady – she and her old man the sky were nasty customers."
"Ouranos," Piper says. She can't help looking up at the blue sky, wondering if it has eyes.
"Right," Hedge says. "So Ouranos, he's not the best dad. He throws their first kids, the Cyclopes, into Tartarus. That makes Gaea mad, but she bides her time. Then they have another set of kids — the twelve Titans — and Gaea is afraid they'll get thrown into prison too. So she goes up to her son Kronos —"
"The big bad dude," Leo said. "The one they defeated last summer."
(Y/n) lets out an annoyed grumble, and Piper wonders if she'd remembered anything else – Piper makes a mental note to ask her about it later. Well, Piper's brain betrays her, if we live long enough for me to ask.
"Right. And Gaea's the one who gives him the scythe, and tells him, 'Hey, why don't I call your dad down here? And while he's talking to me, distracted, you can cut him to pieces. Then you can take over the world. Wouldn't that be great?"'
Nobody says anything. Piper's chocolate chip scone doesn't look so appetizing anymore. Even though she'd heard the story before, she still can't quite get her mind around it. She tries to imagine a kid so messed up, he would kill his own dad just for power. Then she imagines a mom so messed up, she would convince her son to do it.
"Definitely not Snow White," she decides.
"Nah, Kronos was a bad guy," Hedge agrees. "But Gaea is literally the mother of all bad guys. She's so old and powerful, so huge, that it's hard for her to be fully conscious. Most of the time, she sleeps, and that's the way we like her — snoring.''
"But she talked to me," Leo says. "How can she be asleep?"
Gleeson brushes crumbs off his canary yellow lapel. He's on his sixth espresso now, and his pupils are as big as quarters. "Even in her sleep, part of her consciousness is active — dreaming, keeping watch, doing little things like causing volcanoes to explode and monsters to rise. Even now, she's not fully awake. Believe me, you don't want to see her fully awake."
"But she's getting more powerful," Piper adds. "She's causing the giants to rise. And if their king comes back—this guy Porphyrion —"
"He'll raise an army to destroy the gods," Jason puts in. "Starting with Hera. It'll be another war. And Gaea will wake up fully."
Gleeson nods. "Which is why it's a good idea for us to stay off the ground as much as possible."
Leo looks warily at Mount Diablo. "So . . . climbing a mountain. That would be bad."
Piper's heart sinks. First, she'd been asked to betray her friends. Now they are trying to help her rescue her dad even though they know they are walking into a trap. The idea of fighting a giant had been scary enough. But the idea that Gaea is behind it — a force more powerful than a god or Titan . . .
"Guys, I can't ask you to do this," Piper says. "This is too dangerous."
"You kidding?" Gleeson belches and shows them his blue carnation smile. "Who's ready to beat stuff up?"
. . .
Leo had hoped the taxi could get them all the way to the top.
No such luck. The cab makes lurching, grinding sounds as it climbs the mountain road, and halfway up they find the ranger's station closed, a chain blocking the way.
"Far as I can go," the cabbie says. "You sure about this? Gonna be a long walk back, and my car's acting funny. I can't wait for you."
"We're sure." Leo is the first one out. He has a bad feeling about what is wrong with the cab, and when he looks down he sees he was right. The wheels are sinking into the road like it is made of quicksand. Not fast — just enough to make the driver think he had a transmission problem or a bad axle — but Leo knows different.
The road is hard-packed dirt. No reason at all it should have been soft, but already Leo's shoes are starting to sink. Gaea is messing with them.
While his friends get out, Leo pays the cabbie. He's generous — heck, why not? It was Aphrodite's money. Plus, he has a feeling he might never be coming off this mountain.
"Keep the change," he says. "And get out of here. Quick."
The driver doesn't argue. Soon all they can see is his dust trail.
The view from the mountain is pretty amazing. The whole inland valley around Mount Diablo is a patchwork of towns — grids of tree-lined streets and nice middle-class suburbs, shops, and schools. All these normal people living normal lives—the kind Leo had never known.
"That's Concord," Jason says, pointing to the north. "Walnut Creek below us. To the south, Danville, past those hills. And that way . . ."
He points west, where a ridge of golden hills holds back a layer of fog, like the rim of a bowl. "That's the Berkeley Hills. The East Bay. Past that, San Francisco."
"Jason?" Piper looks at the son of Zeus. "You remember something? You've been here?"
"Yes . . . no." He gave her an anguished look. "It just seems important."
"That's Titan land." Coach Hedge nods towards the west. "Bad place, Jason. Trust me, this is as close to 'Frisco as we want to get."
But Jason looks towards the foggy basin with such longing that Leo feels uneasy. Why did Jason seem so connected with that place — a place Hedge said was evil, full of bad magic and old enemies? What if Jason came from here? Everybody kept hinting Jason is an enemy, that his arrival at Camp Half-Blood was a dangerous mistake.
No, Leo thinks. Ridiculous. Jason was their friend.
Leo tries to move his foot, but his heels are now completely embedded in the dirt. "Hey, guys," he says. "Let's keep moving."
The others notice the problem.
"Gaea is stronger here," Hedge grumbles. He pops his hooves free from his shoes, then hands the shoes to Leo. "Keep those for me, Valdez. They're nice."
Leo snorts. "Yes, Coach. Would you like them polished?"
"That's varsity thinking, Valdez." Hedge nods approvingly. "But first, we'd better hike up this mountain while we still can."
"How do we know where the giant is?" Piper asks.
(Y/n) points towards the peak. Drifting across the summit is a plume of smoke. From a distance, Leo had thought it was a cloud, but it wasn't. Something is burning.
"Smoke equals fire," Jason agrees. "We'd better hurry."
The Wilderness School had taken Leo on several forced marches. He thought he was in good shape. But climbing a mountain when the earth is trying to swallow his feet is like jogging on a flypaper treadmill.
In no time, Leo had rolled up the sleeves on his collarless shirt, even though the wind is cold and sharp. He wishes Aphrodite had given him walking shorts and some more comfortable shoes, but he is grateful for the Ray-Bans that keep the sun out of his eyes. He slips his hands into his tool belt and starts summoning supplies — gears, a tiny wrench, some strips of bronze. As he walks, he builds — not really thinking about it, just fiddling with pieces.
By the time they near the crest of the mountain, Leo is the most fashionably dressed sweaty, dirty hero ever. His hands are covered in machine grease.
The little object he'd made is like a windup toy — the kind that rattles and walks across a coffee table. He isn't sure what it could do, but he slips it into his tool belt.
He misses his army coat with all its pockets. Even more than that, he misses Festus. He could use a fire-breathing bronze dragon right now. But Leo knows Festus would not be coming back — at least, not in his old form.
Finally Jason crouches behind a wall of rock. He gestures for the others to do the same. Leo crawls up next to him. Piper has to pull Coach Hedge down.
"I don't want to get my outfit dirty!" Hedge complains.
"Shh!" Piper says.
Reluctantly, the satyr kneels.
Just over the ridge where they are hiding, in the shadow of the mountain's final crest, is a forested depression about the size of a football field, where the giant Enceladus had set up camp.
Trees had been cut down to make a towering purple bonfire. The outer rim of the clearing is littered with extra logs and construction equipment — an earthmover; a big crane thing with rotating blades at the end like an electric shaver — must be a tree harvester, Leo thinks — and a long metal column with an ax blade, like a sideways guillotine — a hydraulic ax. A lake sits about fifty feet to the right of the bonfire.
Why a giant needs construction equipment, Leo isn't sure. He doesn't see how the creature in front of him could even fit in the driver's seat. The giant Enceladus is so large, so horrible, Leo doesn't want to look at him.
But he forces himself to focus on the monster.
To start with, he is thirty feet tall — easily as tall as the treetops. Leo is sure the giant could've seen them behind their ridge, but he seems intent on the weird purple bonfire, circling it and chanting under his breath. From the waist up, the giant appears humanoid, his muscular chest clad in bronze armor, decorated with flame designs. His arms are completely ripped. Each of his biceps are bigger than Leo. His skin is bronze but sooty with ash. His face is crudely shaped, like a half-finished clay figure, but his eyes glow white, and his hair is matted in shaggy dreadlocks down to his shoulders, braided with bones.
From the waist down, he is even more terrifying. His legs are scaly green, with claws instead of feet — like the forelegs of a dragon. In his hand, Enceladus hold a spear the size of a flagpole. Every so often he dips its tip in the fire, turning the metal molten red.
"Okay," Coach Hedge whispers. "Here's the plan —"
Leo elbows him. "You're not charging him alone!"
"Aw, c'mon."
Piper chokes back a sob. "Look." Just visible on the other side of the bonfire is a man tied to a post. His head slumped like he was unconscious, so (Y/n) couldn't make out his face, but Piper doesn't seem to have any doubts. "Dad," she says.
Leo swallows. He wishes this was a Tristan McLean movie. Then Piper's dad would be faking unconsciousness. He'd untie his bonds and knock out the giant with some cleverly hidden anti-giant gas. Heroic music would start to play, and Tristan McLean would make his amazing escape, running away in slow motion while the mountainside exploded behind him.
But this wasn't a movie. Tristan McLean is half dead and about to be eaten. The only people who can stop it — four fashionably dressed teenaged demigods and a megalomaniac goat.
"There's four of us," Hedge whispers urgently. "And only one of him."
"Did you miss the fact that he's thirty feet tall?" Leo asks.
"Okay," Hedge asks. "So you, me, (Y/n), and Jason distract him. Piper sneaks around and frees her dad."
They all look at Jason.
"What?" Jason asks. "I'm not the leader."
"Yes," Piper replies. "you are."
They'd never really talked about it, but no one disagrees, not even Hedge, and not (Y/n), who could've pulled the 'I've been at camp longer' card or the 'I was offered immortality by the gods' card. Coming this far had been a team effort, but when it comes to a life-and-death decision, Leo knew Jason is the one to ask. Even if he has no memory, Jason has a kind of balance to him. He can just tell Jason been in battles before, and he knows how to keep his cool. Leo wasn't exactly the trusting type, but he trusts Jason with his life.
"I hate to say it," Jason sighs, "but Coach Hedge is right. A distraction is Piper's best chance."
Not a good chance, Leo thought. Not even a survivable chance. Just their best chance.
They can't sit there all day and talk about it, though. It has to be close to noon — the giant's deadline — and the ground is still trying to pull them down. Leo's knees had already sunk two inches into the dirt.
Leo looks at the construction equipment and gets a crazy idea. He brings out the little toy he'd made on the climb, and he realizes what it can do — if he's lucky, which he almost never is. "Let's boogie," he says. "Before I come to my senses."
. . .
Piper scrambles along the ridge, trying to keep her head down, while Leo, Jason, (Y/n), and Coach Hedge walk straight into the clearing.
(Y/n) and Jason summon their magic weapons – Jason's coming up as a lance. (Y/n) brandishes her sword over her head and yells, "Giant!" which sounds pretty good and a lot more confident than Leo could've managed. He is thinking more along the lines of "We are pathetic ants! Don't kill us!"
Enceladus stops chanting at the flames. He turns towards them and grins, revealing fangs like a saber-toothed tiger's.
"Well," the giant rumbles, "What a nice surprise."
(Y/n) doesn't like the sound of that; Leo's hand closes on his windup gadget. He steps sideways, edging his way towards the bulldozer.
Coach Hedge shouts. "Let the movie star go, you big ugly cupcake! Or I'm gonna plant my hoof right up you –"
"Coach," Jason deadpans. "Shut up."
Enceladus roars with laughter. "I've forgotten how funny satyrs are. When we rule the world, I think I'll keep your kind around. You can entertain me while I eat all the other mortals."
"Is that a compliment?" Hedge frowns at Leo. "I don't think that was a compliment."
Enceladus opens his mouth wide, and his teeth begin to glow.
"Scatter!" Leo yells.
Jason, (Y/n), and Hedge dive to the left as the giant blows fire — a furnace blast so hot even Festus would've been jealous. Leo dodges behind the bulldozer, winds up his homemade device, and drops it into the driver's seat. Then he runs to the right, heading for the tree harvester.
Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Jason and (Y/n) rise in unison and charge the giant. Coach Hedge rips off his canary yellow jacket, which is now on fire, and bleats angrily. "I liked that outfit!" Then he raises his club and charges, too.
Before they can get very far, Enceladus slams his spear against the ground. The entire mountain shakes.
The shockwave sends Leo sprawling. He blinks, momentarily stunned. Through a haze of grassfire and bitter smoke, he sees (Y/n) and Jason staggering to their feet on the other side of the clearing. Coach Hedge was knocked out cold. He'd fallen forward and hit his head on a log. His furry hindquarters sticking straight up, with his canary yellow pants around his knees — a view Leo really doesn't need.
The giant bellows, "I see you, Piper McLean!" He turns and blows fire at a line of bushes to Leo's right. Piper runs into the clearing like a flushed quail, the underbrush burning behind her.
Enceladus laughs. "I'm happy you've arrived. And you brought me my prizes!"
Leo's gut twists. This is the moment Piper had warned them about. They'd played right into Enceladus's hands.
The giant must've read Leo's expression, because he laughs even louder. "That's right, son of Hephaestus. I didn't expect you all to stay alive this long, but it doesn't matter. By bringing you here, Piper McLean has sealed the deal. If she betrays you, I'm as good as my word. She can take her father and go. What do I care about a movie star?"
Leo can see Piper's dad more clearly now. He wears a ragged dress shirt and torn slacks. His bare feet are caked with mud. He isn't completely unconscious, because he lifts his head and groans — yep, Tristan McLean all right. Leo had seen that face in enough movies. But he has a nasty cut down the side of his face, and he looks thin and sickly — not heroic at all.
"Dad!" Piper yells.
Mr. McLean blinks, trying to focus. "Pipes . . .? Where . . ."
Piper dares her dagger and faces Enceladus. "Let him go!"
"Of course, dear," the giant rumbles. "Swear your loyalty to me, and we have no problem. Only these others must die."
Piper looks back and forth between Leo and her dad.
"He'll kill you," Leo warns. "Don't trust him!"
"Oh, come now," Enceladus bellows. "You know I was born to fight Athena herself? Mother Gaea made each of us giants with a specific purpose, designed to fight and destroy a particular god. I was Athena's nemesis, the anti-Athena, you might say. Compared to some of my brethren – I am small! But I am clever. And I keep my bargain with you, Piper McLean. It's part of my plan!"
(Y/n) is on her feet now, sword ready; but before she can act, Enceladus roars — a call so loud it echoes down the valley and is probably heard all the way to San Francisco.
At the edge of the woods, half a dozen ogre-like creatures rise up. Leo realizes with nauseating certainty that they hadn't simply been hiding there. They'd risen straight out of the earth.
The ogres shuffle forward. They are small compared to Enceladus, about seven feet tall. Each one of them has six arms — one pair in the regular spot, then an extra pair sprouting out the top of their shoulders, and another set shooting from the sides of their rib cages. They wear only ragged leather loincloths, and even across the clearing, Leo can smell them. Six guys who never bathe, with six armpits each. Leo decides if he survives this day, he'd have to take a three-hour shower just to forget the stench.
"What the hell are those?" (Y/n) asks.
Piper's blade reflects the purple light of the bonfire. "Gegenees."
"In English?" Leo questions.
"The Earthborn," Piper replies. "Six-armed giants who fought Jason — the first Jason."
"Very good, my dear!" Enceladus sounds delighted. "They used to live on a miserable place in Greece called Bear Mountain. Mount Diablo is much nicer! They are lesser children of Mother Earth, but they serve their purpose. They're good with construction equipment —"
"Vroom, vroom!" one of the Earthborn bellows, and the others take up the chant, each moving his six hands as though driving a car, as if it were some kind of weird religious ritual. "Vroom, vroom!"
"Yes, thank you, boys," Enceladus says. "They also have a score to settle with heroes. Especially anyone named Jason."
"Yay-son!" the Earthborn screams. They all pick up clumps of earth, which solidify in their hands, turning to nasty pointed stones. "Where Yay- son? Kill Yay-son!"
Enceladus smiles. "You see, Piper, you have a choice. Save your father, or ah, try to save your friends and face certain death."
Piper steps forward, her eyes blazing with such rage, even the Earthborn back away. She radiates power and beauty, but it has nothing to do with her clothes or makeup. "You will not take the people I love," she says. "None of them." Her words ripple across the clearing with such force, the Earthborn mutter, "Okay, okay, sorry," and begin to retreat.
"Stand your ground, fools!" Enceladus bellows. He snarls at Piper. "This is why we wanted you alive, my dear. You could have been so useful to us. But as you wish. Earthborn! I will show you Jason."
Leo's heart sinks, but the giant doesn't point to Jason. He points to the other side of the bonfire, where Tristan McLean hangs helpless and half-conscious.
"There is Jason," Enceladus says with pleasure. "Tear him apart!"
The biggest surprise: one look from Jason, and all four of them know the game plan. When had that happened, that they can read each other so well?
(Y/n) and Jason charge Enceladus, while Piper rushes towards her father, and Leo dashes for the tree harvester, which stood between Mr. McLean and the Earthborn.
(Y/n)'s instincts kick in, and her gut tells her she'd dueled opponents almost this big before. Size and strength equaled slowness, so (Y/n) just has to be quicker – pace herself, wear out her opponent, and avoid getting smashes or flame-broiled.
(Y/n) rolls away from the giant's first spear thrust and jabs Enceladus in the ankle. Jason's javelin manages to pierce the giant's hyde on the other ankle, and golden ichor – the blood of immortals – trickle down the giant's clawed feet.
Enceladus bellows in pain and blasts (Y/n) with fire. She scrambles away, rolling behind the giant, and strikes again behind his knee.
It goes on like that for seconds, minutes — it was hard to judge. (Y/n) hears combat across the clearing — construction equipment grinding, fire roaring, monsters shouting, and rocks smashing into metal. She hears Leo and Piper yelling defiantly, which meant they were still alive. (Y/n) tries not to think about it. She can't afford to get distracted.
Enceladus's spear misses her by a millimeter. (Y/n) keeps dodging, but the ground stuck to her feet. Gaea is getting stronger, and the giant is getting faster. Enceladus might be slow, but he isn't dumb. He begins anticipating (Y/n)'s and Jason's moves, and they're attacks are only annoying him, making him more enraged.
"I'm not some minor monster," Enceladus bellows. "I am a giant, born to destroy gods! You're little toothpick can't hurt me!"
Neither (Y/n) or Jason waste energy replying. Jason is already tired. The ground clings to his feet, making him feel like he weighed an extra hundred pounds. The air is full of smoke that burned his lungs. Fires roars around him, stoked by the winds, and the temperature is approaching the heat of an oven.
Jason raises his javelin to block the giant's next strike — a big mistake. Don't fight force with force, a voice chides him — the wolf Lupa, who'd told him that long ago. He manages to deflect the spear, but it grazes his shoulder, and his arm goes numb. He backs up, almost tripping over a burning log. He has to delay — to keep the giant's attention fixed on him while his friends deal with the Earthborn and rescue Piper's dad. He can't fail. He retreats, trying to lure the giant to the edge of the clearing. Enceladus can sense his weariness. The giant smiles, baring his fangs.
"The mighty Jason Grace," he taunts. "Yes, we know about you, son of Jupiter. The one who led the assault on Mount Othrys. The one who single-handedly slew the Titan Krios and toppled the black throne."
Jason's mind reels. He doesn't know these names, yet they makes his skin tingle, as if his body remembers the pain his mind doesn't.
"What are you talking about?" he asks. He realizes his mistake when Enceladus breathes fire.
Distracted, Jason moves too slowly. The blast misses him, but heat blisters his back. He slams into the ground, his clothes smoldering. He is blinded from ash and smoke, choking as he tries to breathe.
He scrambles back as the giant's spear cleaves the ground between his feet.
Jason manages to stand.
(Y/n) moves in front of Jason, and Jason can feel the power radiating off her.
"Ah, the sea god's brat!" Enceladus bellows.
"Piece of shit," (Y/n) replies, and she charges the giant on her own.
Jason can only watch, his body dragging with exhaustion, as (Y/n) advances on the giant.
A lake about fifty feet to (Y/n)'s right explodes, dousing the bonfire, and putting it out, making the clearing darker, and suddenly, Leo, Jason, and Piper feel a strength wash over them as water laps at their shoes.
(Y/n) dodges the first strike, and then stabs the giant in the kneecap, and then jumps off her sword, ripping it out of the giant's knee and scrambles up and stabs him in the ear.
Enceladus lets out a roar so loud, it distracts Piper from her dad. She stares at (Y/n) atop the giant's shoulder, watching as (Y/n) stabs her sword into his neck.
Jason takes a deep breath and charges.
Enceladus shakes (Y/n) off and she rolls, landing on her feet, though she staggers with the momentum.
Jason fakes a strike and rolls between the giant's legs. He comes up quickly, thrusting with all his might, ready to stab the giant in the small of his back, but Enceladus anticipates the trick. He steps aside with too much speed and agility for a giant, as if the earth is helping him move.
He sweeps his spear sideways, meets Jason's javelin – and with a snap like a shotgun blast, the golden weapon shatters.
The force knocks (Y/n) off her feet and squeezes the breath out of her chest.
When she regains her focus, she and Jason are sitting side by side at the rim of a crater. Enceladus stands at the other side, staggering and confused. The javelin's destruction had released so much energy, it had blasted a perfect cone-shaped pit thirty feet deep, fusing the dirt and rock into a slick glassy substance.
Neither Jason or (Y/n) are sure how they'd survived, but their clothes are steaming. Both demigods are out of energy, and Tsunami had skittered across the clearing at Leo's feet.
Both demigods try to get to their feet, but their legs are like lead. Enceladus blinks at the destruction and laughs, "Impressive! Unfortunately, those were your last tricks, demigods.
Enceladus leaps the crater in a single bound, planting his feet on either sides of the demigods. The giant raises his spear, its tip hovering six feet over (Y/n)'s chest.
"And now," Enceladus laughs, "my first sacrifices to Gaea!"
. . .
Time seems to slow down, which was really frustrating since (Y/n) still can't move. She feels herself sinking into the earth like the ground is a waterbed – comfortable, urging her to relax.
(Y/n) can't feel her arms. She can see the tip of the spear coming towards her chest in slow motion. She knows she should move, but she can't. Funny, she thinks. All that effort to stay alive, and then, boom. I'll just lie here helplessly while a fire-breathing giant impales me.
Leo's voice yells, "Heads up!"
A large black metal wedge slammed into Enceladus with a massive thunk! The giant toppled over and slid into the pit.
"Jason, (Y/n), get up!" Piper calls. Her voice energizes (Y/n), shaking her out of her stupor. She sits up, her head groggy, while Piper grabs her under his arms and hauls her to his feet. And then Leo grabs Jason.
"Don't die on me," Piper orders. "You are not dying on me."
"Yes, ma'am." (Y/n) feels light-headed, but Piper is about the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen. Her hair is smoldering, and her face is smudged with soot. She has a cut on her arm, her dress is torn, and she is missing a boot. Beautiful.
(Y/n) looks down in the crater and sees Enceladus struggling to rise, an ax blade the size of a washing machine stuck in his breastplate.
Amazingly, the giant manages to pull the ax blade free. He yells in pain and the mountain trembles. Golden ichor soaked the front of his armor, but Enceladus stands.
Shakily, he bends down and retrieves his spear.
"Good try." The giant winced. "But I cannot be beaten."
As they watch, the giant's armor mends itself, and the ichor stops flowing. Even the cuts on his dragon-scale legs, which Jason and (Y/n) had worked so hard to make, are now just pale scars.
Leo curses. "What is it with this guy? Die, already!"
"My fate is preordained," Enceladus says. "Giants cannot be killed by gods or heroes."
"Only by both," Jason says. The giant's smile falters, and Jason sees in his eyes something like fear. "It's true, isn't it? Gods and demigods have to work together to kill you."
"You will not live long enough to try!" The giant starts stumbling up the crater's slope, slipping on the glassy sides.
"Anyone have a god handy?" Leo asks.
Jason's heart fills with dread. He looks at the giant below them, struggling to get out of the pit, and he knows what has to happen. "Leo," he says, "if you've got a rope in that tool belt, get it ready." He leaps at the giant with no weapon but his bare hands.
"Enceladus!" Piper yells. "Look behind you!"
It's an obvious trick, but her voice is so compelling, even Jason buys it. The giant says, "What?" and turns like there is an enormous spider on his back.
Jason tackles his legs at just the right moment. The giant loses his balance. Enceladus slams into the crater and slides to the bottom. While he tries to rise, Jason puts his arms around the giant's neck. When Enceladus struggles to his feet, Jason is riding his shoulders.
"Get off!" Enceladus screams. He tries to grab Jason's legs, but Jason scrambles around, squirming and climbing over the giant's hair.
Father, Jason thought. If I've ever done anything good, anything you approved of, help me now I offer my own life — just save my friends.
Suddenly he can smell the metallic scent of a storm. Darkness swallows the sun. The giant freezes, sensing it too.
Jason says to his friends, "Hit the deck!"
And every hair on his head stands straight up.
Crack!
Lightning surges through Jason's body, straight through Enceladus, and into the ground. The giant's back stiffens, and Jason is thrown clear. When he regains his bearings, he is slipping down the side of the crater, and the crater is cracking open. The lightning bolt had split the mountain itself. The earth rumbles and tears apart, and Enceladus's legs slide into the chasm. He claws helplessly at the glassy sides of the pit, and just for a moment manages to hold on to the edge, his hands trembling.
He fixes Jason with a look of hatred. "You've won nothing, boy. My brothers are rising, and they are ten times as strong as I. We will destroy the gods at their roots! You will die, and Olympus will die with —"
The giant loses his grip and falls into the crevice.
The earth shakes. Jason falls toward the rift.
"Grab hold!" Leo yells.
Jason's feet are at the edge of the chasm when he grabs the rope, and Leo, (Y/n), and Piper pull him up.
They stand together, exhausted and terrified, as the chasm closes like an angry mouth. The ground stops pulling at their feet.
For now, Gaea is gone.

BATFAMILY AS FOLKLORE SONGS
i’m honestly shocked i’ve haven’t done this one. this one is a little different tbh, usually i just do characters and maybe lyrics but this time i did actually did explanations and i was watching the long pond sessions so i could get accurate notes on each song. DISCLAIMER there’s a lot of run on sentences and i hope it all makes sense, peace and love-ssb✌️🫶
the 1: steph and tim, i see this as being from both of their povs. i think a relationship between them wouldn’t work long term it would’ve been fun if you would’ve been the one
cardigan: dick/babs, i know that all writers have their own opinions on who is the “other woman” but timeline wise it’s kori so i see this as being from babs pov bc she goes back to him no matter what
the last great american dynasty: The Wayne’s, i feel that after Bruce adopts his kids and starts collecting others he starts kinda shifting what the wayne’s are where as when he grew up it was about image, poise and galas he starts to change and all he cares abt is if his kids are comfortable i had a marvelous time ruining everything
exile: jason and bruce, even though this song is like two lovers fighting i think it can be interpreted as jason being upset after tim becomes robin and it took you five whole minutes to pack us up and leave me with it and i can see bruce’s pov of being fed up with giving jason the chance to do the right thing but him not doing it like you’d get your knuckles bloody for me second, third and hundredth chances balancing on breaking bridges, i couldn’t turn things around you never turned things around
my tears ricochet: damian and talia, “it’s a song about greed. it’s a song about how somebody could be your best friend and your companion and your most trusted person in your life and then they could go and become your worst enemy who knows how to hurt you because they were once your most trusted person.” Taylor Swift long pond sessions you had to kill me but it killed you just the same this whole song and specifically this part and the quote reminds me of when talia made and had a clone of damian kill him i didn’t have it in me to go with grace and you’re the hero flying around saving face you hear my stolen lullabies
mirrorball: Stephanie, i’ve never been a natural all i do is try i know everyone is like this is dicks songs it’s not he’s the natural however i feel stephanie is put on this pedestal for being independent but she’s not and i feel like she morphs herself into a different version of herself depending on who she’s with “we have mirror balls in the middle of a dance floor because they reflect light they are broken a million times and that’s what makes them so shiny. we have people like that in society. they hang there and everytime they break it entertains us” Taylor Swift long pond sessions
seven: damian and jon, it’s a song abt besties idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ past down like folk songs the love lasts so long
august: kori/dick, IM SORRY DICKORI/ KORI STANS! to me when writers write this love triangle they write babs as the one, she’s smart and sensible and someone to settle down with while kori is written as a fling and something that is just someone who’s there in the moment and that’s what august is about it’s about this girl who was seen by this guy as a fling while she is truly falling for him and from everybody’s pov she’s this bad girl and temptress while all she wants is to love and to be loved
this is me trying: tim, they told me all my cages were mental so i got wasted like all my potential, tim is often now written as this happy go lucky character and i think that in red robin he’s fighting some real demons but in the newer runs he’s fighting to make it through the day or insecurities about his position in the family or as a superhero or even as bernard’s boyfriend and i feel like it’s just so real like no other character is going to compare to me when it comes to that and when it comes to his position in everyday life he is the definition as wasted potential he is crazy smart and charismatic but he just hates school and hates studying i was so ahead the curve that the curve became a sphere
illicit affairs: bruce/ talia, bruce and talias relationship is not healthy but i do believe that they both or at least bruce loved the other person and i feel like it shouldn’t even be described as an relationship because it seems like a means to an end
invisible string: the entire batfamily, definition of right place at the right time
mad woman: cass, in the comics and fics cass is often written to be a crazy, feral woman and i think that it’s a narrative constantly written about women and i feel like men are written as traumatized while women are not written or perceived with that tone they are written as vindictive or crazy
epiphany: babs and jim gordon, epiphany is written paralleling WWII to the pandemic and i think the perfect parallel in comic book history is babs and commissioner gordon fighting the same fight but taking different paths or routes and aaron dessner describes the song as comparing taylor’s family history and hero’s of today and i feel like that’s the perfect way to describe it
betty: babs/dick/kori, i already described my thoughts twice but i feel like dick would maybe take more accountability
peace: bruce/selina, imma be honest i don’t know if it’s canon that bruce doesn’t do relationships bc of batman but it’s fitting and i feel like it’s probably that even in relationships with other heroes is a conversation to be had bruce truly can’t give selina peace, he cannot promise stability or a promise of staying alive or not being over tabloids as he’s the richest man alive all these people think loves for show but i would die for you in secret
hoax: duke, duke is the one character that i can’t really get a read on but as the newest member of the batfamily i feel like there’s still this feeling in him that’s like i have this new family and i love them but at the end of the day i want my parents my parents that raised me at the end of the day he’s a boy who wants his parents. i also feel like he’s still trusting of people and he reaps what he sowed everytime
the lakes: tim/bernard: tim always has an exit plan and it’s always escaping by himself to be by himself and i feel like it’s the same no matter who he’s with but when he met and started dating bernard he finally found someone to escape with and exit the hero world for im setting off, but not without my muse
batfam (taylor’s version) is coming so lmk what albums you guys want next🤭🤭

What The Heart Wants, But Almost Has~ S.H ~2
Tumblr media
Part 1
Author's Note: You all been waiting for this one <3
@woahlifehitsyahuh @cinemaquinn @pleasantlycrazyworld. @moonchildquinn @haileighboi @ceriseheaven @harringtons-cupid
You had closed the curtains of your window shielding yourself away from them, away from the world. You were beyond embarrassed that Steve would do something like that to you. He was suppose to be your friend and instead he decided it was best to shout to the world about your feelings for Eddie, his own feelings for you and hoping that something would come out of this.
Eddie had stopped by your house trying to get you to talk to him. Instead your mother answered the door letting him know you were sick or you were not home. But you were, the curtains to your windows haven't been drawn since you shut them.
" You can't be cooped up all day in here" your mother softly knocked on the door. " Eddie has stopped by asking for you, sweetheart. Robin too. Steve too" she had heard his whole speech about his feelings for you and she didn't say anything knowing you would come to her when the time was right. She didn't pressure you or anything.
" maybe it's best you go away for a few days with your sister, and your brother" you groaned pulling the covers off your head and blowing a piece of hair away from your face. Yeah, you had a brother that loved to harass Eddie at school. The two of you never interacted in school, he was too afraid to ruin his reputation and his image of being your brother.
He was the perfect child in your family. He was the golden boy.
It's been really hard on you when your father passed away, it took a toll on your brother since he was closer to his father. He had a closer relationship with you when your father was around and now with him gone, he wasn't much there for you like he used to be.
Things weren't what they use to be.
------------✧♡✧-------------
You sat on the beach drawing into a sand as your hair blew in the wind while your head was running with thoughts about what you were doing to do once you got back home. It didn't take long for a figure to plop down besides you on the sand with his legs outstretched.
" You've been here awhile" he says putting his hand flat on the sand behind him as his eyes turned to look at you, one eye squinted while the other tried to look at you the best he can. The sun shined in his eyes.
" I'm sorry" you mumbled, shrugging. He huffed as he leaned forward a bit knocking his foot into yours. " I know I haven't been the best brother in the world to you and it wasn't fair. But I'm here now" you nodded letting him know you heard him.
He pursed his lips, " You know for what's it worth, Munson doesn't deserve any of your attention. Forget about him, now on the other hand. Harrington seems like the type of guy that you'd usually go for"
" How do you know what kind of guys I like?" he shrugged.
" I know you've been pinning on Eddie all these years but he's an idiot to notice you. I have seen you looking, I've seen you defend him and don't forget that one time you swung your backpack at me"
You laughed at the memory.
" You were being a jerk to him, Jason" Jason shrugged.
" I just think your better off without him, he doesn't deserve you"
" What do you think I deserve you? You think you know everything, don't you?" he took your tone as a way you were snapping at him. He looked down letting his fingers seep through the sand.
" I'm sorry, Jason. Steve embarrassed me in front of everyone, letting Eddie know how I feel. He had no right to do that" Jason nods as you continue, " he said out loud how he felt and honestly, I thought he was out of my league. Steve Harrington likes little Jason' Carver's sister. Can you believe that?" you chuckled.
" Why is that hard to believe?" you shrugged writing the letter S in the sand.
" Because I don't do sports, I am nothing special-" he cuts you off with a shake of his head. " You need to stop, just because you are not a cheerleader or play any sport doesn't mean that your not special. You're creative, you're smart, you're funny.. only sometimes" he points his finger, " you're brave and you have one hell of a swing" you snorted knocking your shoulder into his.
" Thanks" you mutter to him, " you know your not half bad when your not a jerk" he waved his hand as he shrugged.
" Just the Carver charm" you rolled your eyes as you pushed his shoulder. " Yeah, the Carver charm"
------------✧♡✧-------------
" Is that Carver's car?" Dustin asked as he peeked through the curtain of Steve's house. Heads peeked through the window watching you stepped out of the car with Jason Carver in tow.
" What's she doing with him?" Eddie seethed with his fist by his side, jaw clenched. " Is she seriously going to bring him inside? Are you going to let her?" he turned to ask Steve. Steve had been looking out the window to listen to the conversation to hear what Eddie was asking him.
" Thank you for driving me, and thank you for you know being there for me" you bounced back and forth on your feet finding the cracks in the stones much more interesting than your brother's face.
" Hey" he put his hand on your shoulder, peering down to eye level with you. " I'm here for you" you nodded, feeling him squeeze your shoulder. " If I hear one of you assholes try something, or hurt my sister.. I will not hesitant to come back and ram my car into your house, Harrington!"
" He's not really going to do that, is he?" Lucas asked as he looked around everyone.
" He won't, he don't have the balls for it. He doesn't even have any balls" Eddie mumbles watching you from the curtain. They watch Jason leave when there is a knock on the door.
They know it's you.
" Here we go" Robin says making her way to the door and throwing it open. Your eyes meet hers, there is a sense of hope in her eyes as she hesitantly opens her arms for you to hug her. She doesn't know weather you'll want to hug her or not or if you even want to be near her at the moment.
" Hi Robs" you greet her, stepping inside. She frowns, putting her arms down. " Hi Y/N, it's good to see you" she softly says walking with you to the living room where everyone seemed to be waiting for you.
" Hi guys"you waved to them while throwing them a thin smile. Steve looked relieved that you were back but he had no idea where you stood with him and it sorta scared him. Eddie stood against the wall with his arms across his chest as he stared at you like you were a ghost of some sort. He didn't really think you'd come after everything. After what Steve did.
" You're a Carver?" Nancy asked. " Jason Carver is your brother?"
You nodded your head.
" Why didn't you tell us?" Mike asks. You sighed, putting your hands in the back pockets of your jeans shifting on your feet.
" We both decided that we didn't want anyone to know were related. He wasn't the best brother to me all these years, he always was my father's prize child while I felt like I stood in his shadow. I wanted to be different, so I took my mother's name when I register with her to school. She understood that I wanted to stand out on my own, she allowed it and it was my secret. I'm sorry that I've kept it from you guys but this was my choice. I hope you understand"
Eddie was the first one to speak, " Yeah would be nice knowing you are related to the person that treated me like garbage. Some friend you are" he scoffs as he gets off the wall walking into the kitchen. You glance down at your shoes feeling guilty all of sudden.
" You didn't need to tell us anything, that was your choice. But some of understand. Families are tough" Robin says as she wraps her arm around your shoulder.
" We're just glad to have you back"
------------✧♡✧-------------
You had found Eddie in the back of Steve's backyard as he sat on one of the lounge chairs with a cigarette in his mouth. He heard the door slide opened watching as you stepped out and closed the door after you. His eyes followed you until you chose to sit down next to him.
" You've been out here too long" you turn to look at him. But his gaze was on the pool. " I'm sorry I left, but that's what I needed to do. For myself" He nodded.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you that Jason was my brother. I didn't really think it would hurt anyone if I did" he scoffed, rolling his eyes. You took that as a sign that it did hurt him. Your best friend.
" Well, you did hurt me too." His head turned to look at you, taking the cigarette out his mouth and blowing out smoke.
" Tell me what I did, sweetheart. Tell me, how did I hurt you, hmm" He sits up on the lounge chair turning his body towards you as his feet his the ground as he sits on the edge.
" You made me feel like shit from the moment your eyes met Chrissy's Cunningham. You've always made me feel like I was second best to anyone, even Dustin" you chuckled. " You've always pushed me behind, I was suppose to be your best friend Eds. I was suppose to be the person you talk to, the person you trust and enjoy being around. When we went to prom, you didn't even look at me. I chose my dress to match your tie and I knew it was your favorite color too. It hurt the way you acted towards me. It was one of the biggest pills to swallow. Standing by your side and watching the man you hopelessly are in love with, look at another girl. She didn't even give you attention until that night" you feel your eyes prickle with tears.
" Don't turn this around me Y/N, you never told me how you felt. I never knew you were in love with me. I never knew what you thought or felt. We didn't speak on it. I didn't know. Don't spat at me like you hate me. I'm a person with feelings."
" I never hared you, Eddie. Not once. It hurt deeply to watch you kiss Chrissy on stage. I didn't know how to talk to you and tell you hey Eds, I have been in love with your for years and want to be with you. I didn't want to ruin our friendship and lose you. But Steve opened his big mouth and now you know"
You stood up from the chair, " For what's it worth, she's lucky to have you. You're really special, Eddie." You wiped away the tears that streamed down your cheeks as you headed inside but Eddie had followed you.
" You know you picked up a great time to let your feelings know!" his loud yelling voice stopped you in the tracks in the kitchen as you turned around to face him. His hands clutched to his side as his jaw set and his nose scrunched up in anger.
" I was so happy before finding out about your so called feelings!" he shouted, motioning towards you with his finger and swirling it around. Steve slowly walked into the kitchen with his hands on his hips.
" Munson, don't yell at her. We can all hear you loud and clear" Eddie snapped his eyes towards Steve. " And you!" he pointed to him. " What the fuck is wrong with you? Oh big old Steve Harrington decided to have the balls and yell how he feels into the microphone. Jesus, now wonder you can't score a date. You're so desperate."
Yours and Steve's mouth drop down. Eddie regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth but he couldn't help it feeling anger towards you. Towards Steve.
" Munson, get out" Steve pointed to the door, his own eyes flashing with anger. " You're such an asshole, Eddie" you tell him as he walks past you.
" Yeah, Yeah like I haven't heard that one before"
" You know, Eddie. I bet Chrissy kissed you out pity. She felt bad that no one would choose someone like you. Someone that doesn't even own a nice pair of boxers. Has she seen yours? I bet she's home right now calling my brother" you smirked watching as his shoulders tensed up at your words. His head snapped over his shoulder to glare at you, opening his mouth to say something but you beat him too it.
" If you looked closer, you'd notice that not every girl is like her. There was always one girl that longed for you, always stood by your side, put you first, always helped you in any way you can. I mean, look. You graduated. All thanks to me helping you study. You never looked at me the way you looked at her, not once. Not once did you notice how I felt. Dustin gave you hints, Robin did too and yet you didn't notice me."
" I'll never choose you, you were never my choice" Eddie says. You can feel your heart break in two at his words as he turned back around heading to the door. Ouch.
You wrapped your arms around yourself as tears ran down your cheeks. Who knew that your heart could break more than it already was?
------------✧♡✧-------------
" Do you think she's ready to see us again? You know after the whole thing with Eddie?" Robin asks bouncing with a step as she walks up to your door with Steve in tow.
" I don't know Robin" Steve answers her raising a fist to knock on your front door. They aren't surprised that it's Jason who answers the door, chewing on a cookie as he looks between Robin to Steve.
" Buckley. Harrington. What can I do for you?" he asks. " Don't you have jobs to be at?" he adds.
" We were looking for Y/N, is she here?" Jason nodded.
" Can we come in?" Steve asks, " She's going through a lot and we want to make sure she's okay" you appear behind Jason looking at your friends.
" Robin, Steve, hi" you greet them with a small smile. You were happy to see your friends coming over to check on you. " Come in, Jason be nice" you threw him a look as you stepped aside letting Robin and Steve step in. Immediately, Steve has noticed the trophies in the living room decorating the fire place. The whole house looked really cozy. There were pictures on the walls and on the table too, of you and of your siblings. Some family pictures but more fill of Jason.
" Not that I don't like that you two are here, but what are you doing here?" Robin lifts up a bag in the air and waves it around. " I brought ice cream while Steve brought the movies. We were hoping you'd have a move night with us. You know, like old times?"
" You're boring, I'm going out" Jason mutters as he grabs his jacket and walks out the door leaving you with Steve and Robin.
" Well he's a delight" Robin mutters making her way into the living room. " Where is your mom and sister?" she asks. " Out of town, my mom took my sister too. It's just Jason and I" Steve muttered underneath his breathe.
" What was that?" you asked settling on the couch.
" I don't know how you two are related, honestly"
" Me neither" you muttered, " but he reminds me a lot of my dad" you looked down at your fingers feeling sadness come over you.
" Hey, none of that" Robin nudges her shoulder into you. " I have the best cure for sadness" she opens the bag and takes out a tube of your favorite ice cream.
You laugh in response taking a spoon from her, Steve glances down at you feeling his heart flutter hearing your laugh.
------------✧♡✧-------------
Nancy had dropped by to pick up Robin on her way home, something they needed both to do leaving you with Steve. The silence wasn't too bad as you sat watching a movie next to him. He looked really good sitting, man spreading on the couch while watching the film and occasionally throwing popcorn in his mouth.
" Steve" you called out to him bringing his attention away from the movie over to you. " Yeah?" he asked. He watches the way your eyebrow furrowed together in concentration and the biting of your bottom lip catches his attention too. You have been thinking about something and the thought made him nervous about it.
" You know, your speech was something else that day" his cheeks flush pink as he thinks about that day. He knew he made you feel uncomfortable but he had made it known of his feelings for you. He thought it would be better with a gesture like that.
" I-I'm sorry" he says, rubbing the back of his neck. You shook your head, " It's in the past. It was nice speech, but I want to talk about something" he nods urging you to go on.
" It's going to take me some time to think about it more, but I am willing to try to be with you if you can wait for me" Steve couldn't believe what he was hearing. The girl that he had been waiting on had finally, closely was going to be his. His head bopped up and down rapidly as a smile spread across his face. He wanted to be with you more than anything.
" You take all the time you need" he reached over to squeeze your hand in his. " Thank you, that means a lot to me. I need some time to get over Eddie and realize that he can not be a part of my life any longer. He's an idiot that doesn't deserve me"
Steve nods.
" I know he hurt you and that was uncalled for, but when your ready, I promise you won't regret it"
" I'll take your word for it, Steve" he couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the night.
------------✧♡✧-------------
Robin is jumping in her spot when you tell her that you are going to be willing to give a chance to Steve when the time comes. She couldn't be more happy knowing that Steve would be the one to treat you better.
" This makes me so happy and look at you, your eyes are glowing" she says pointing it out. " You look happy too" you looked away hiding your cheeks flushing as the thought of being with Steve and calling him your boyfriend.
" Awe, your blushing" she cooed, reaching over squeezing your cheeks.
" Will you stop?" you giggled, swatting her hand as your eyes meet Steve from across Family Video. He was carrying some tapes from the back that needed to be rewind. A smile appeared on his face when he spotted you.
" Look at you both, it's going to happen!" she clapped her hands. But you didn't pay attention to her as she ranted how good you'd look good with Steve and Eddie was going to regret it. Steve stopped in his tracks even to keep your gaze locked with his. His smiling matching yours. His heart racing feeling his palm getting sweaty. Your heart raced looking into his brown eyes.
You left Robin where she stood talking still to meet Steve in the section he was in, " hi" you greeted him.
" Hi" he greets you back, putting the tapes on the shelves before opening his arms for you to walk into them. You were happy to do so as your arms wrapped around his waist. Your head against his chest feeling his heart racing at your touch and your scent filling him.
He kisses on top of your head, " I hope your doing okay." He feels you nod against his chest and a squeeze tighter. Steve would do anything to have this moment go on forever.
" Not to break up the love fest over there, but you know we have a job to do, Steve?" Robin didn't mean to be a buzzkill but customers were coming in. You released Steve from your hold, cheeks flushed as you cleared your throat.
" I'm sorry, I should go" a hint of disappointment hits Steve, but he nods as he picks up the tapes he left on the shelves back up. " Let me walk you out" he doesn't bother to put the tapes again too busy to walk you to the door. You laugh when he chooses his elbow to open the door for you.
Yeah, you were sure you wanted to be with him. Just a little more time.
------------✧♡✧-------------
You swirled the drink in your hand looking around to see mass of people dancing around Steve's living room. One person was on the table, swinging their shirt while a couple was making out walking into people. Some were laughing too loud but you were too distracted looking for the familiar face of Steve.
A hint of weed, cigarettes and pine hit your nose as he walks past you. What was he doing here? He had his lunch box in his hand as he walked past. He must be selling tonight. You didn't even look at him when you felt his eyes on you in the corner of the room. He didn't deserve your attention after what he said.
" Having fun?" you heard a familiar voice whisper against your ear. It caused you to jump a little bit as you turned your head, to see a laughing Steve holding his own cup in his hands.
" You're not funny" you mumble, a little pout coming out. Steve wanted to kiss it away when he saw it. You were too cute.
" Awe, I'm sorry. How can I make it up to you?" you hummed, placing a finger on your chin and tapping it as you thought about it for awhile. He dipped his head back as he drank his drink, not letting you decide as he took your hand in his and taking you to where people were dancing.
" I don't dance" you yell through the noise, closer to him. " Neither do I" he says as he bops his head and moves his shoulders. You couldn't stop laughing at the way he was dancing and moving his body. He even circled around you to make you laugh. He saw that Eddie was here tonight, and wanted you to not even look at Eddie or pay any mind. You didn't because Steve was taking your mind off things.
He was there. He was laughing with you. Being a goof and you swore your heart never fluttered this much before in your life from one person.
Yeah, Steve Harrington is making you melt and you loved every minute of it.
" Can we talk?" you yelled into his ear, but not loud to hurt his ear drum. He pulled away as concern filled his eyes thinking he did something wrong. You tugged on his hand and pulling him away from the crowd and leading into the back.
" What did you want to talk about? Did I say something wrong?" you shook your head seeing your cup on the table outside and turned back towards him. Your fingers played with the ring around your finger.
" I've been thinking a lot" you tell him. He rose his eyebrows, chuckling, " Oh? Is that something you do now?"
" Shut up" you snickered, pushing his chest. He put his hands up urging you to continue.
" I've been thinking about you" his breath hitched, his eyes filled with hope. Is this really happening right now? Was he ready for this?"
" I've been thinking about how you make me feel"
" How do I make you feel?" he asked, stepping closer to you as his hands landed on your hips. " You make me feel like I'm the only one that matters to you. I've seen the way you would drop everything to come see what I need, you're always there for me and never cease to amazing me Steve Harrington" his cheeks flushed, squeezing your hips.
" What I'm trying to say here" you felt like your heart was about to jump out of your chest, " is that I'm ready. I'm ready to be with you if you still will have me."
His eyes grew wide as saucers as a big smile appeared on his face.
" Are you serious?" you nodded your head, biting on your bottom lip.
" You've made me so happy" he pulls you into his arms, swaying with you side to side. Your arms wrap around his neck as he kisses your forehead.
" As much as I want to kiss you right now, I would like to have our first kiss not when were tipsy and at a party. But on a date, if you want to?" he nervously asked, looking at his feet.
" Yes, tomorrow?" he lifts up his head, smiling.
" Tomorrow"
Eddie can't help but what you interact with Steve knowing he really hurt you and would never get his best friend back. His heart sinks to his stomach as he clutches his lunch box knowing he messed up with you. You were happy.
He wasn't going to mess that up. He walked away leaving you be, letting you be happy without him.

- i want you | s. harrington
| you get stuck with steve to do a task, you and him don’t have the greatest history.
| content warning: angstangstangst, but then very sweet at the end. mentions of bullying but not hardcore bullying steve’s just a dick, mild swearing, not really proofread tbh
Tumblr media
steve harrington was an asshole. that’s just a fact. you met steve in your biology class, reluctantly being lab partners. he gave you the nickname ‘mouse’. shoving the work towards you with a, “here you go, mousy.” and a snicker. he wouldn’t lift a goddamn finger. you honestly have no idea how he passed the class.
so when you somehow got recruited into a group who saves hawkins 24/7, you were quite surprised to see steve there. watching the kids, fighting off monsters. he didn’t seem the type to ever give a shit about any of this. you would think he’d be getting drunk, not caring what was gonna happen. it was a curveball to see him, none of the people in the group really made sense honestly, nancy wheeler? robin buckley? but steve harrington? that was the biggest surprise of them all.
“hey mouse, can you come help me with this?” steve snaps you out of your thoughts. “yeah, coming.” steve takes you out to skull rock to cover up the footprints you all left there, you guys didn’t want jason and his band of boys to be able to find where you went. so here you were. dragging your feet in dirt with steve “the hair” harrington.
it was quiet for the first few minutes, only the sound of feet on the ground. breaking the silence, steve says, “so, uh, how’s biology going for you?” you let out a noise that’s somewhere between a scoff and a laugh. “i don’t use it much these days.” you quip, still zig-zagging your walk. steve lets out a little right, right, yeah, and goes back to silence.
“you got any, like, plans after all this is over?” he asks, he stops walking and looks at you. you stop as well, puzzled by his sudden interest in conversation. “look we really, i mean, really, don’t have to do this whole talking thing.” you start back on your path turning away from him. “yeah i mean i know we don’t have to but, i just wanted to talk to you, i feel like we never talk, y’know?” he says while starting up his walk again, albeit a lot slower.
“you certainly didn’t care to talk to me during biology.” you say, a mumble, but loud enough to get the point across. steve’s quiet for a while, lips pursed in thought.
“listen, i know i was a dick back then, okay? i had this idea of who i was supposed to be, but that’s not me anymore. i honestly always thought you were really cool. i just, didn’t know how to talk to you.”
“you didn’t know how to talk to me because it would ruin your image.” you point out. steve quietly lets out a yeah.
“and i’m sorry about that! i really am. really, i wish i got to know you back then. but i- i wanna get to know you now!” he says, hands on his hips, head low. “why now? because the world’s ending? and you don’t wanna leave any stones unturned?” you snap back at him. you’ve both stopped walking now. you actually look like you’re about to fight. standing across from each other, pacing. troubled looks plaster both of your faces.
“i wanna get to know you, because i like you, okay? because you’re funny, and you’re kind, and fuck you’re gorgeous. and you’ve always been these things! always! i was just too much of an asshole to care, or notice. i shoved the work at you, i never spoke, i didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of you! you’re so fucking smart, and gentle. and i didn’t know how to approach my feelings towards you. so i was a douchebag. and if you can’t forgive me, i get it. but i’d really like you to forgive me, please.”  he’s pacing, faster now. throwing his hands around, they fall on his hips occasionally.
that’s all you can focus on while he’s giving his confession, honestly. how expressive he is. how much he uses his hands and arms to get his point across. how he’ll drag them over his face. how many times he fixes his hair. and you realize at this point, that maybe you don’t hate steve harrington like you thought you did. maybe people can change, maybe he’s telling the truth.
“you, like me? and have? since biology?” you trail off, pulling your bottom lip into your teeth nervously. ready for him to start laughing in your face, waiting for the big prank, waiting for everyone to jump out, and make fun of your eagerness.
“yes, mouse. i really like you.” he says, coming closer to you. he puts his hand on your right cheek, runs his thumb right below your lips. “okay.” you whisper, scanning his face all over. his brown eyes bore into yours, and he lets out a small laugh.
“okay? that’s all you have to say?” he’s smiling at you, teasing you, but not in the way he used to. “well, i don’t have a way with words like you do, steve. but i forgive you. and... once this is over, i’d like to get to know you better too.” you’re smiling into his hand.
you and steve finish your task of covering the trail, bashing shoulders playfully while you walk. when you get back to the others, you can hear robin mutter, “fucking finally.”

Bucks bad date pwease
Your wish is my command! <3 <3 <3
When the first streaks of light from the first meteors caught Buck’s eye, he excused himself from the conversation with Connor and Brandon and jogged further down the beach with his bag slung over his shoulder. He went as far as he could down the crescent shaped beach before the shore curved to its end at the base of the cliff. The area was in shadow, but Buck knew it wasn’t far enough.
He took the camera stand out of his bag anyway, planting the tripod as firmly as he could in the sand and adjusting the height before he fixed his phone to the mount. Opening the StarGazer app, Buck pointed the camera up towards the sky and used his remote to take a test picture of the moon. And sighed. The image was bathed in the glow of the two bonfires on the beach and there was no way to keep it out. The moon looked okay, but the meteors would be lost in a slurry of indistinct starlight.
Buck sat back in the sand and tapped the remote against his knee. He could try and rally the rest of the crowd, see if he could convince a majority to put out the fires so they could actually see what they came to see, but the two hours he’d already been here had convinced Buck that the meteor shower was more of an excuse to drink on a beach than anything else. Besides, the rising smoke would ruin the shots just as much as the light. He may as well go get another beer.
“Bright night, huh?” Jason’s voice came from close enough behind him that Buck jumped. His footsteps were completely muffled by the sand.
Still, Buck laughed, a little ruefully, and replied, “I guess I should have gone out to Joshua Tree if I wanted to be in the dark.”
“Park prices would have been insane,” Jason said. “Wouldn’t have been worth it.”
“I should have just gone to-” Buck bit off the end of the sentence, pretty sure that Jason wouldn’t want to hear it. He would have ended up at Eddie’s if he hadn’t come here. Their little backyard wouldn’t have been any darker, but he could have spread out a blanket, maybe melted some smores in the microwave with Eddie and Christopher. Then he wouldn’t have needed to take pictures at all. The people he’d wanted most to share them with would have been right there with him.
“The boyfriend’s?” Jason finished anyway, crouching down beside him in the sand.
Buck could only hope it was dark enough to hide the blush on his face. He felt the weight of the lie even more for how close it was to the truth. Tomorrow, maybe. When he and Eddie had a chance to talk.
“Yeah,” Buck managed to croak.
“I’m sorry I pulled you away from that,” Jason said a little flatly, a hint of something that Buck couldn’t decipher underneath the words.
“Hey, no,” Buck said, turning to look at him.
“If I’d known, I never would have asked-”
“I’m glad you asked,” Buck said. “I never get to see any of these guys anymore. Or you for that matter.” He put a hand on Jason’s bare shoulder, tacky with sunscreen and still warm from standing near the fire, and squeezed. “I’ll just check out the next once in a generation meteor shower.”
Jason, thankfully, laughed and put his own hand on the back of Buck’s neck, matching Buck’s pressure as he squeezed back. “Nah, to hell with that,” he said. “I’ve got an idea. Get your stuff and come with me.”
“Where?” Buck asked.
In the dark, Jason’s smile flashed bright white.
“You’ll see.”

"Just let me take you dancing"

Heizou x fem!reader (modern au)
Tw: a little spicy, just a little
A/n: I wanna thank you all beautiful people for liking, commenting, rebloging and following my blog. I especially want to thank you for the 372 followers. I still can't believe it. Love you all <3
-
The week was long and tiring but finally, it was over. And you weren't planning on staying home that night so instead, you decided to go out and get drunk with your boyfriend, Heizou, but sadly things didn't go exactly as you planned.
"Sorry babe but I still have some work to do." He said after you called him and asked him to go out with you to drink. "Oh, ok... I'll call my friends then and ask them if they are free." The sadness was visible to your voice but you tried to hide it as best as you could from him. You didn't want him to feel guilty for canceling on you. But Heizou was still able to hear it. "Come on baby, don't let it ruin your mood, we can go out another time and have a lot of fun." You were quick to catch the hidden hint in his words and your cheeks turn red with embarrassment.
"Heizou" You scolded him as a goofy smile spread across your lips. "What? I know that your cheeks have that lovely red color that I love." His tone started becoming even more flirtatious so you had to stop him from saying anything more, you were too embarrassed to continue talking to him. "Sorry baby but I have to hang up. I need to get ready." You said. "Okay baby, but please do me a favor. Try and not be too sexy tonight because I won't be there to enjoy the view and also fight off the creeps that will hit on my girl." He said. "Don't worry Heizou, I'm yours, so if anyone tries anything with me, I have my way to make them stop." You reasured him. "Mine baby, only mine." A grin plastered on his face as your image popped to his mind. "Bye-bye baby." "Bye pretty girl, love you." He said, making your heart start to beat like crazy. "I love you too Heizou." You said, hanging up the phone and leaving it to your bed. "Gosh, I love him so much." You said to yourself as you started getting ready.
"Y/N that guy over there haven't taken his eyes off of you for a while now." One of your friends commented, getting your attention. "Who?" You asked, scanning the room, trying to find the guy that was starring at you. A big, bright smile appeared on your lips as soon as your eyes landed on his figure. "Heizou!" You called out to him as subconsciously you got up from your seat and walked up to him, pulling you closer to you as you placed a passionate kiss on his lips. He of course reacted to your gesture, wrapping his arms around your waist and pinning you against his body.
"Did you miss me baby?" He asked in between the kiss. "Yes, a lot. But how did you know I was here?" You replied honestly as you pulled back, lips swollen from the kiss. "I have my ways but now tell me, wanna show me how much you missed me?" He asked, a grin made it's way across his lips as you looked at him, an expression of comfussion was written all over yoyr face. "Follow me." He said as he took your hand and dragged you on the dance floor.
You didn't have to ask him anything more. The answer to your question came the moment Heizou's hands find their way to your waist. "Now show me how how much you missed me." He whispered in your ear as the next song started playing. It was "Take you dancing" by Jason Derulo. His favorite song and he had a specific reason for that and that reason was you or rather, your body. He just couldn't get enough of the way your body moved to teh rhythm of the music. It drove him crazy every time he saw you dancing.
And that's exactly what happened at that moment. Your body started moving to the rhythm of the music as Heizou's hands travelled wildly along your body, outlinding every inch of it. "You're so pretty y/n. So sexy." He commented close to your ear, sending chills down your spine. Your cheeks grew dark red as you tried to think of something to say or do but came up with nothing. Your mimd went completely blank.
Seeing your expression, Heizou chuckled as he ran his fingers across yourv cheek, putting some straids of hair behind your ear. "It's okay y/n. You don't have to be so shy." He said pulling closer once again and kissing your lips, a kiss that made you dizzy after he pulled away. "Now let's go somewhere else, more quiet so I can show you how much I missed you." His arm wrapped aroung your waist, guiding you somewhere else, more privately so he could show you how much he loved you. His baby. His girl. His everything.

Note:  - Ya know.... I'm sad.... anyway please enjoy this, we will see where it goes together.  - This is just part one. Comment things you want to see for the reader and Steve’s future. Also what you want to see out of the reader and Eddie’s past.  - I am not 100% sure of the exact timeline that the season takes place over, so bear with my number of days, it truly doesn’t matter - I am also aware of the theoretical age difference, but this is a story and I like it so uhhh if you don’t like it don’t read it. - Also in my head this character’s name is Melissa (Mel) so do with that what you will. - Gif isn’t mine (gif also made me extremely depressed you all have to share my pain).
Tumblr media
“Eds, please tell me what the fuck is going on,” you were pleading through the phone.
“I can’t baby, I swear I will call you later.”
“Eddie, people are saying you’re a murderer. I saw you with Chrissy, we talked about this. I know you didn’t do anything, but Jason and the basketball team are looking for you. I just... Eddie, what the fuck is going on.” You could hear trucks in the background. He must have been at a payphone at one of the truck stops on the interstate.
“Angel, I promise I will call you when I can. I need to go. I need to get off the road. I love you.” The line clicked and you stared at the phone.
“Honey? Was that Eddie? Do you know where he is?” Your nose wrinkled at the way your dad asked. He had never disliked Eddie, but he had gone to that stupid meeting and he came back insisting he know where Eddie was.
“No, dad. It was just Beth, she was checking on me.” You anxiously played with the ring hanging on your necklace. It was one of Eddie’s. He had given it to you months ago, for your two year anniversary. It had your names engraved on the inside, and he had a matching one on his finger. You tried to remember more about the morning Chrissy died.
You laughed as Eddie stalked around the table. He was shouting, making faces, you were rolling your eyes. Beth was sitting across from you, face going red from the embarrassment. You would have been too if it had been a few years ago, but dating Eddie meant there were always eyes on you. He was always taking the attention off you though, making faces, blocking doors. He was always so sweet.
“And you, m’lady,” he said, bowing and offering you a hand.
“How can I help you, Sir Edward?” He loved it when you played along with his shenanigans. He admitted to you once when he was crossed and laying on the floor in his van, that it always made him feel warm when you did that because it reminded him that you didn’t think he was weird, or a freak. You had laughed, kissed the top of his nose, and reminded him, “Oh I think you’re weird and a freak, but that is what I love about you.”
“Well, perhaps we could promenade.” You rolled your eyes. He just wanted to go outside and smoke a joint, maybe try to get you to have sex. He almost got you with those big brown eyes, bottom lip partially pulled between his teeth.
“Sorry, Eds, I gotta study for my test. I want to graduate this year, remember.”
“Hey! I told you eighty-six would be my year.” You smiled. He had indeed said that.
“I know. I gotta study though. I’ll see you later.” He leaned down and kissed you, wrapping you in his arms before you could pull away. He squeezed tight.
“I love you.” It was quiet, whispered in your ear, away from where the rest of Hellfire could hear.
“I love you too, but I wouldn’t want to ruin your demonic image, so you better let go before someone sees you’ve got a girlfriend in a pink skirt.” He laughed. The whole school knew you were together, the whole town maybe.
“Wouldn’t want that.” He kissed you again, sliding his lunchbox off the table and disappearing outside. You didn’t see him till later. You had left the library during your study period to go find him, starting at his van. You were getting close to the picnic tables when you heard his voice, and someone else’s. It took a few quiet moments for you to realize it was Chrissy Cunningham.
“I see you, pumpkin.” You twisted your face in a frown at the petname and stepped around a tree. Eddie smiled at you.
“Chrissy was just looking to buy something off me.”
“Eddie!” Her cheeks had gone red.
“Oh, don’t worry. Y/N can keep a secret. She's kept all of mine.” You rolled your eyes.
“Quit being so ominous. I was just looking for you to see if I could get a ride home before Hellfire.” He frowned at you.
“I thought you were coming to watch the end of the campaign.” You normally played in his party, but this year you had chosen not to, just observing when you could. You were trying to go to college soon, not far and not without Eddie moving with you, but you still wanted to graduate with good grades.
“Of course I am, I just don’t want to be wearing this,” you gestured to your outfit, you had your own Hellfire shirts at home, “and I wanted to drop off my bags. And remember, I have to go home tonight.” He always tried to get you to stay over, without fail, when his uncle was working late which was always.
“Fine. Yeah. I’ll come find you later. In the liiiibrarryyy.” He dragged the word out.
“Yes, in the library. I’ll see you later, handsome,” you said, tweaking the top of his ear and leaving a kiss on his cheekbone. Chrissy looked surprised at the sweet, knee-weakening smile Eddie always gave you right before you left him.
You couldn’t remember anything else. It had all been so normal. You had gone to Hellfire, Eddie dropped you off at home, saying hello to your parents and kissing you goodnight on the doorstep before going home.
“Are you okay, honey?” You jumped at the sound of your mom’s voice, dropping the necklace back against your chest. It felt heavy.
“Yeah. I’m just worried about Eddie s’all. I know he didn’t do this. Everyone is just scared.” She squeezed your arm.
“I know. How about you go to bed early. I’ll let you know if he calls.” You frowned a little bit, wringing your hands in the shirt you were wearing. It was one of Eddie’s, too big so you wore it was a sweatshirt over your own clothes most of the time.
“Could I take the phone in my room? Just in case?” She was slow to nod, but she did, and you quickly unplugged the phone from the front hallway and plugged it into the phone port in your room, before your dad could catch wind and take it back. You laid down on the bed and stared at the photo of you and Eddie framed on your white nightstand. He was making devil horns but looking at you with the most loving smile you could imagine. You were smiling right back at him tongue sticking out. Beth had taken the photo upon your request, but Eddie had made a joke and you turned to look at him. She’d caught your favorite moment on film.
You woke up to the phone ringing. It was dawn, the sky barely light pink
“Hello?”
“Hi, pumpkin, I’m okay. Found a place to lay low.” You sagged in relief hearing Eddie’s voice.
“Where?”
“Baby, I can’t tell ya. I know they’re gonna come and wanna talk to you. I don’t want you to be in danger.”
“Eddie, please. They’re saying so many things.” You could feel tears growing in your eyes.
“I know. You’ll be safer if you don’t know and I promise I’m safe. I love you, baby.”
“I love you too, Eds.”
“I’ll call again later, once I know what I’m going to do.”
“Please… just come home.” You knew he couldn’t.
“Bye, angel.” Both of you stayed on the line for a few moments longer before Eddie hung up. You sighed, burying your head in your pillow, before rolling yourself off the bed and onto your feet. You were in the kitchen looking through the fridge, leftovers that you hadn’t been able to stomach for the last two days that your mom left for you were stacked in bowls on one side, when the phone rang. You grabbed it while still looking through the fridge.
“Y/L/N residence.”
“Is this Y/N?”
“Yes. Who is this?”
“Hawkins Police, we need to speak to you about your boyfriend, Edward Munson. Can we come and pick you up for an official interview?” You frowned, closing the fridge and leaning around the corner to check the street. You could see a few boys in green varsity jackets asleep in a car in front of your neighbors house. They had been there since the morning before, rotating once in the late evening.
“Would you be able to do it here?”
“Why?” The officer sounded indignant.
“Because there’s vigilantes parked outside my house waiting for me to walk out so they can bombard me.” Silence proceeded, and muffled talking like someone had covered the receiver to have a conversation.
“We can get them to move along.” You rolled your eyes.
“Hasn’t been working so far for the people of Hawkins. Can you do it here?” There was a sigh.
“Yes. We can do it there.” You rattled off your address and they promised to be there at 10 AM. You reheated some leftovers and sat on the couch, staring out the back window into the forest. You and Eddie always sat there, watching movies. You would play with his hair when he sat on the floor, sometimes braiding it. He always pretended to hate it, but he always leant in when you did, eyes closing as you ran your fingers through his curls.
-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-
It was 6 days. 6 days of the police coming by and asking questions. 6 days of you not leaving the house, just staring at the phone waiting for Eddie to call. There was two murders so soon after their first visit, and the police came back both times. Eddie stopped calling after the third kill, the one by Lover’s Lake. Beth came by twice, but the second time Jason’s goonies followed her home and she stopped. You couldn’t blame her.
Your parents were just about ready to cart you off to New Jersey to “visit family”, but then the earthquakes happened, the ground opened and swallowed so much of Hawkins and the varsity jackets stopped coming to look for you. It was clear Eddie was on the list of the missing, but no one was looking for him.
“Mr. Munson, are you su-”
“Y/N, I don’t know where he is. I wouldn’t hide him from you if I did.” His uncle looked sad, his sunken and red. He looked defeated. You were standing outside his motel room door, dressed in a skirt with Eddie’s shirt and his black jean jacket. He kept staring at the jacket.
“Listen, kiddo,” he sighed, squeezing your shoulder lightly, “People aren’t going to look at either of us the same way anymore.”
“I would never stop looking for him.” He gave a weak smile and stepped back into the room, closing the door. The helplessness that had been blanketing you for the last week was back twofold. You were looking at one of the giant rifts, telephone wires hanging down into the smoking ground. You could feel it squeezing your heart. So you did what you thought would be most useful, you went to the high school gym. They immediately put you to work, helping direct people to the correct areas of the school to find amenities and donated items.
You had been there two days when you spotted the kids from Hellfire.
“Can you take over for a sec,” you said, handing off the clipboard to one of the other volunteers.
“Henderson!” Dustin turned at the sound of your voice. He’d been looking for you for the entire day and was starting to lose hope that you were one of the people that were right along the lines as they caved into the ground.
“Y/N, hi, I…” Tears were already welling up in his eyes as he began rummaging through his pocket. You frowned, your heart starting to beat faster. You had already been panicking, and the kid’s behavior was making it worse.
“Where’s Eddie? He said he was going to help you with something in his last call. He wouldn’t tell me what.” Now, watching tears roll down Dustin’s cheeks, you couldn’t tamp down the anxiety that was shoving its way through your stomach and working up to your throat, which was starting to feel tight. You thought you might throw up.
“I can’t… I can’t explain what happened here. But… He told me to give you these.” When the kid opened his hand, the light caught dirty silver, an entire handful of Eddie’s rings. They had dried blood on them.
“He… what?” You reached back, finding the cot behind you to sit down as Dustin transferred the rings into your hands. All of them were there, including the one with your names etched onto the side with a flaming heart with devil horns between them. How was he gone? Where? You had so many questions, but looking up at Dustin you couldn't do anything but ask, “Why?”
Eddie had made Dustin promise that they wouldn’t tell you what happened when he was first accused, what he had seen. Dustin scratched his head, using his shirt to wipe the tears. He knew you deserved to know.
“Can you meet me by the picnic table in a half hour? I need to finish this shift.”
“Dustin, wha-”
“Please, just- There is a lot to explain. And I can’t do it here.” He hobbled off and you looked at the rings in your hand. They were cold. Eddie would always take them off before bed, hand them off to you so you could put them on the nightstand. They were always warm. They felt too cold now. You pressed the one that matched yours onto your thumb, but it was too big. The rest of them clattered together in your lap as you worked to put the matching ring on your necklace. It slid down the chain and crashed into yours with a soft clang. His was so much bigger than yours. As you put the rest of the rings in the pocket of Eddie’s jacket you frowned at the spots that had appeared on your skirt. It took a moment to realize they were from the tears that hadn’t stopped rolling down your cheeks.
“Hey, Y//N, you okay?”  You looked up to see Steve Harrington of all people. He looked genuinely concerned, a child’s shirt thrown over his shoulder. He was holding a mismatched pair of socks. When he spotted the rings you were shoveling away his eyes widened a little bit and, to your surprise, he quickly sat next to you.
“Shit, I’m sorry. Dustin must have told you.” You were even more surprised when he put an arm around you and squeezed. It was strangely comforting, but it could have been the fact that the person who had come nearest to you in days was Eddie’s uncle for a squeeze on the arm.
“He said-” you hiccuped through your tears, “He said he couldn't tell me here. He said he’d meet me outside.” Steve looked around, spotting Robin who was watching wide-eyed, knife covered in jelly hanging midair. Steve jerked his head toward the door and helped you up.
“Come on, I can at least start.” Your eyebrows knit together, looking at him. What could Steve Harrington tell you? You didn’t have any heart to stop him from guiding you out the doors and to the picnic table. Seeing it made you double over with a sob. It was almost the last place you had seen him. You had so many memories with him right there at that picnic table. The first time you had gotten high had been with Eddie, before you were dating, your knees touching under the picnic table. He had asked you out the very next day. He was the sweetest sometimes, big brown eyes showing every emotion and flitting around to try to capture every moment.
“Can you grab her some water?” Steve asked to someone over your shoulder. You could hear footsteps going away and you continued to sob, Steve leading you to sit down and squatting in front of you. He wrapped his arms around you, your forehead against his shoulder. You could see your tears dripping onto his jacket and some finding their way straight down into the dirt or to his jeans.
“Wh-” you broke through the sob, “Why are you-?” You looked up now and found true sadness in Steve’s eyes. Dustin had appeared, along with a few of the other kids from hellfire and Robin Buckley. You looked around at them out of confusion. Steve caught your eyes and again and licked his lips before taking a deep breath.
“Y/N, it really is a long story, but the first thing you need to know is Eddie Munson was a hero and we’re all alive because he was. And second, you need to know he loved you so much.”

In the Palm of my Hand Eddie Munson x Reader
Summary: There were pros and cons to you being “Eddie’s Small Girlfriend”
Warnings: Unwanted touching (sexual harassment), injuries, mild violence, bullying, loads of fluff, swearing, reader is assumed to be “small” however you want to perceive that
NOT EDITED YET
Thank you for reading, reblogs and comments are always appreciated <3
Tumblr media
Eddie loved that you were tiny. You fit everywhere. Well, everywhere that mattered. You fit on his lap when he was playing guitar, you fit between his legs when he was braiding your hair before bed, or various other between-the-leg-activities, you fit between his arms when he caged you under him. You just fit.
Eddie hated that you were tiny. You fit everywhere with him. Around the school halls, you always managed to get shoved or pushed enough to come home to him bruised. You were small enough that someone would always manage to drop you during cheer practice. You were so small that Jason and his goons could take advantage of you.
There were pros and cons to having you as his tiny girlfriend. Sometimes, when he could see all the inconveniences being small caused you, we wish he could just stretch you out, but then again, who would be able to nuzzle against him like you could?
The first time Eddie noticed was out on the field. You’d been practising this routine for two weeks now, and each practice, you’d come back to the trailer with more purple littering your soft skin. He watched as you flipped and twirled through the air, a bright smile on your face—until someone put their hand down too early, assuming the position for a longer leg than your own, and you fell 8 feet down and onto the grass.
“How many times have I told you, Tracy? Another second there, will you?”
 It didn’t skip Eddie’s attention that none of your teammates asked if you were okay. As Amanda continued scolding Tracy for her bad timing, Eddie watched you roll out your ankle, biting back tears to continue the routine. He wanted so badly to hop off of the bleachers and help you walk off of the field. But he couldn’t. Jason and the basketball team were on the other end of the field watching you, and the football team was on the other. He promised himself he wouldn’t make your life a living hell of bullying by exposing your friendship.
“Ugh, sorry about that, Y/N. Ready?”
“Mmhmm.” Your response came out muffled and slightly teary-eyed, but you stood, limping back to your spot to assume the pyramid.
“AND, ONE—”
The second time Eddie noticed how much of an impact being small had on your life was when he went to his local music store. He hadn’t expected to see anyone, because it was usually empty and almost always looked closed. Five of the lights over his head were broken, but under the single shining light at the back of the store was someone so tiny, they were unmistakable.
“Hey, Sweetheart.”
“Ah!”
Turned out, you were also as aware of how empty this store could be, considering that you were so started you dropped your tapes. “Jesus, Eds. Scared me.”
“Sorry. What are you doing here?”
“Uh… nothing.”
You quickly scrambled your tapes up from off the floor and hurried to the darkest part of the store.
“Woah, don’t think you're getting off the hook that easily. Why are you runnin’ off? What are you buying?”
“Does it really matter?” You asked, trying your absolute hardest to reach a cassette on the top shelf, but ultimately sighing in defeat.
“Y/N, Sweetheart, you could’ve just asked.”
He swiped the tape off of the top shelf without even sparing a glance at it.
“Now, ‘ya gonna tell me what you’re buying? I know you just got your paycheck, so come on, lemme see.”
You sighed, not really wanting to ruin the little cheerleader, good scholar image you had going on. “Promise not to say anything?”
“That bad?”
You laid out the tapes by the cash register, and Eddie’s mouth practically watered at the thought of your listening to them. He should’ve guessed earlier when you were at the back of the store, but shit—how was he supposed to know that you were a total fucking metalhead? In front of him were two iron maiden albums (The Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind), one new Metallica album (Master of Puppets), and WASP’s ‘84 album W.A.S.P. You watched him start to look excited, and quickly placed a hand over his mouth. “I said, not a word.”
Swiftly turning your hand over, he kissed the soft skin of your knuckles and chuckled. “I was just admiring your music taste. And you.”
“Are you flirting with me?”
“Do you wanna watch my band sometime? We gather a crowd of like… fiiiive drunks. Really cool stuff.”
“Eddie?”
“Yes, okay? I’m asking you on a date.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“If I get to pick the place.”
“Done.”
“Good. Now help me. I’ve been trying to reach 5 albums for like two hours. Been giving myself leg cramps.”
“You got it, Sweet Thing.”
“You’re a fucking asshole, Chance. Get off me!” You swatted away at the hands of the Sophmore basketball player who’d been trying to get in your pants all year. “Aw, come on, Y/N. Just let me—”
“Fuck off.”
Well, if you’d known then that rejecting Chance would gain as much attraction as it did, you wouldn’t have told him to fuck off, because the predicament you were in now was 20,000 times worse.
“Heyyy, Sherry,” Jason dragged out his greetings and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes at the basketball team’s antics. And you thought the damn football players were bad. “Jason.” She quirked a brow, a playful smirk on her face.
“Hey listen, I need a minute alone with Y/N, here. So, Jed’s gonna buy you lunch, and we’re gonna have a talk, yeah?”
“Mm, okay! Have fun, Y/N!”
You were close to falling on your knees begging her to stay. Besides, what did the whole basketball team want with you, anyway? You hoped they were just here to invite you to a party they didn’t want Sherry to go to.
Meanwhile, Eddie, on the other side of the cafeteria, was busy planning the next campaign for Hellfire. You still spared glances at him when you got the chance, admiring his frizzy hair and brown eyes from afar. Since your first date, you two had become closer than ever, but Eddie still refused to let you associate with him at school. You agreed on the basis that you could come to his trailer 5/7 nights a week. It resulted in lots of cuddles and cheap movies and popcorn. And if you ever wondered what Eddie did with those handcuffs by his bed—Close, as mentioned.
“What do you want, Jason?”
“Now, is that anyway to talk to HAWKIN’S HIGH BASKETBALL CAPTAIN?” he yelled, loud enough to gather the attention of at least half of the cafeteria. None of Hellfire looked up, because they didn’t want to see Jason’s face, and frankly, you did not blame them. Attention died down fairly quickly, but the red flush on your cheeks remained.
“Shut up, Jason. Just tell me why you’re here and give Sherry back.”
“Yeah, sorry, no-can-do. Heard you told a fellow teammate  he had no chance with ‘ya in front of people.”
“And? What’s it to you?”
“And, we Hawkin’s High Basketball Team support our teammates.”
Before you knew it, you were being pushed and shouldered around a group of high school boys, much, much bigger than yourself. When you inevitably fell to the cafeteria floor, scraping your knees, you received mocking laughs from all the faces standing above you. You felt tears pooling in your eyes, but you wouldn’t let these low-lives hurt you. You quickly stood up, pressing your skirt back down and wiping off dirt.
“Let me go.”
Jed took the opportunity to wrap his fingers around your hips, holding you in place while Benny approached you.
“I said let go of me!”
You trashed, kicked, punched, whatever the hell you could do. Why did no one care? One minute you were one of the most popular girls in the school, a high-scoring, attractive cheerleader, but no one would help you when it came to Jason and his goons? Everyone seemed to have turned their faces away when they heard you pleading for the boys to just stop.
“Don’t touch me!”
That was when Jason took the opportunity to toss you over his shoulder like a bean back. His shoulder moved underneath you, and you knew that he was moving, but you were too embarrassed to open your eyes. You heard the cheers of the entire basketball team as Jason’s disgusting hands moved up and down your thighs. Then you heard practically half of the cafeteria cheering.
“If you don’t want to get pushed around so much, maybe you should consider getting bigger,” he snickered, slapping your ass.
“PUT ME DOWN, YOU ASSHOLE!” You were screaming at this point, but all you heard was more cheering. The tears had freely started falling down your face. You didn’t know where Jason was going, you didn’t know what his plan was for you. You just wanted to go back in time, to sit down and breathe.
You couldn’t breathe. You couldn’t breathe. You couldn’t—
“Breathe. Relax, Girl. Are you always this dramatic?”
You started to pant when you heard the crashing of chairs and tables, assuming the chanting had started some commotion in the lunchroom. The rush of blood to your head made it difficult to think. Every sound was becoming dulled out by the raging hammering of your heartbeat.
“Please…” you cried, desperately. “Just put me down.”
Eddie had tried to find you before lunch, but you weren’t sitting with the other cheerleaders, because they were all two tables away from him. He assumed you’d decided to sit with either Chrissy or Sherry today.
“Why don’t you just sit with them? You know I like to keep an eye on you… you know, make sure you’re safe.”
“And as much as I appreciate that, I’ve made it through 3 and a half years of high school on my own, already. Eddie, as much as I loved you, I can’t stand sitting with those girls, and neither can Chrissy or Sherry. They’re nice, I promise.”
Now, he was just confused. The chanting must have started ten minutes ago, so it should’ve calmed down by now. Fights don’t take that long. Besides, he was determined to keep the freshmen’s eyes away from whatever stupidity was happening in the cafeteria. Going under Munson’s wing meant learning that high school drama was not worth any of your time.
But now, Eddie was concerned. Throughout all the noise, he hadn’t seen you once. No signs of life. What if you’d gotten trampled by people on their way to see the fight because they couldn’t see you? His heart pounded faster at the thought, and he finally stood up with the rest of Hellfire.
“Hey, isn’t that the cheerleader that walked into our meeting one time?” Mike tilted his head.
Eddie felt his stomach drop. He was going to be sick. Worse. He was going to go into a coma and never wake up. Oh god… That was you. That was his girl, his favourite girl, his only girl.
Throwing himself over a table, Eddie could actually feel the bile rising in his throat. The pushed over 7 chairs on his way to reach you, only to be stopped by a blockade of people cheering Jason on. Couldn’t they see you fucking crying? Couldn’t they see the bruises on your stomach from being thrown over Jason’s shoulder? Couldn’t they see what was happening? But they could see, some disgusted, others proud. No one would stand up for what was right because it was damn Jason.
“Hey!” He yelled through the crowd.
“HEY!” Suddenly, everyone stopped chanting, and stopped to see the freak standing up for a cheerleader.
“You heard the girl. Put her down, Jason.”
“He speaks,” Jason laughed, venom spewing out of his mouth with every word spoken. “Listen, uh, Munson? Freak? This doesn’t concern you.”
A sad whimper escaped your lips, and Jason forcefully shut you up, covering your mouth with his hand. Eddie’s heart broke and his fist formed by his side. “Put. Her. Down.”
Hellfire watched carefully as Jason approached Eddie, slowly, like he was trying to be threatening. You sobbed into Jason’s hand, occasionally biting into the fleshy parts as best you could, but his grip wouldn’t give. “What are you gonna do if I don’t, Freak?”
Eddie’s ring adorned fingers that you loved so much rammed into Jason’s jaw, forcing him to drop you onto the corner of a lunch table, your ribs practically cracking under the pressure. Wheezing, curled up into a ball, only now did the people in the cafeteria come to help you, telling you they’d get you the principal or a teacher. You felt so cold but so hot, so embarrassed and vulnerable. You coughed until you were seeing stars, and you felt someone sit you up against the wall.
But that voice. You knew it was Eddie. You looked up, scanning the room for his face, when you saw him getting kicked by Jason. “STOP!” You screamed, throwing yourself in front of Eddie when another blow landed to your gut.
“Shit! Y/N, what did you do that for?!” Jason scolded, attempting to get you out of the way. Eddie had time to stand and gather you off of the floor. You immediately wrapped your legs around his centre, sobbing into his chest.
“Sweetheart?” Eddie said, his voice wavering.
“Come on, please say something so I know you’re alright.”
But you couldn’t. You were shaking, and violently at that. Eddie could feel the shaking against his whole body, and he wondered, how could anyone be so cruel to someone so perfect.
You felt him running away from the cafeteria, and you were pretty sure he was leading you two outside. You prayed to God or whatever else that no one would follow you. You couldn’t deal with another second more of Jason.
A warm, smooth surface touched the underside of your thighs, and you couldn’t help but flinch, gripping harder into Eddie. “Shh, shh, it’s okay. Just the picnic table in the woods.”
You loosened your grip on Eddie a little bit, allowing yourself to go slightly more slack, while he sat you on top of the table. You felt his hands start to slide out from under your thighs, and panic set it. You were almost sure that you crushed him with how hard you pulled him back, and for someone so small, you really did pack a punch.
“Oof—Sweetheart, you gotta let go so I can see the damage.”
You shook your head into his warm chest, not letting up at all. You felt his guitar pick from under his shirt on the tip of your nose. His soft, slightly frizzy hair brushed over your head as you started to feel more comfortable. “Come on, Sweet Thing. Let me see that beautiful face. Haven’t said a word to me yet, Sweetheart; you know that?”
You slowly pulled your hands away from Eddie’s shoulders, keeping your legs wrapped around his waist, ankles linking behind him. “Are you okay?” you whispered, lifting his shirt to see forming bruises, as well as a cut on his cheek.
“Am I okay?” he scoffed. “Sweetheart, are you okay?”
Your reddened, tear-stained face just about broke Eddie’s heart in half. He watched as you pulled a strand of hair behind your ear and nodded shyly, clearly lying, though your efforts were in vain and you both knew it. “Oh… Sweetheart.”
Taking you back into his arms, Eddie kissed away at every part of your face, anywhere he could find. He kissed your forehead first, both of your cheeks. He rubbed at your shoulders and back while you gently cried against his collarbone. “He… touched me.” you sobbed out.
“He what?”
“And the whole team was just cheering him on, and I couldn’t do anything, Eddie. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”
“Hey, hey, woah. Don’t—it’s not your fault. Don’t ever let me hear you say sorry for what that bastard did, again.”
Eddie’s mind swirled with thoughts so dark that he didn’t even know he was capable of having. He didn’t want to kill Jason. He wanted to do so much worse. He wanted to humiliate Jason, like he’d done to you today. Make Jason so vulnerable that there was no turning back.
But he had to take care of you first. First priority was and always would be you.
“He said something ‘bout ‘If I wanted to stop bein’ pushed around I should just get bigger.’”
“Y/N, you already know that Jason’s an idiot and doesn’t know how science works.”
“Do you think I’m too small? Like… weirdly?”
Eddie held your jaw between those fingers you loved so much, stainless steel grazing over your cheekbones from his thumbs wiping your cheeks. “Y/N, Sweetheart, you’re fucking perfect. Don’t listen to a thing Jason fucking Carver says. You fit perfectly in the palm of my hand, that’s why I’ll never let you go.”
“Shut up,” you smiled, hitting his chest with your palm.
“I mean it!” he smiled back, admiring everything about you. “It’s good to see you smiling again.”
“Well… now what are we gonna do?” You quirked your head to the side, looking around the empty woods. There were plenty of things you could do for the rest of the day because you were definitely not going back to school.
“I’ll give you a piggyback home so we can get’cha all fixed up. Then we can watch a movie?”
“That sounds nice, Eds.” You shone a bright grin, knowing what comes after movies.
“Don’t give me that look, you’re injured.”
“Only in some places. Very avoidable.”
Christ, he loved you. Jason would get his karma in due time. For now, Eddie just needed to take you home, and show you how much he really loved you.
“Hi, Eddie!” A young boy shouted from the bushes.
“Jesus! Dustin, fuck, how long have you been standing there?”
Five other boys swung their heads out from behind the trees.
“Uh… this is Hellfire, right?”

this is a half headcannon and half au so enjoy :)
-is related to reader being a girl
-also idk who did the art so pls lmk!
soooo you were dick grayson’s best friend first. you were and unfortunately for his kid brother and your boyfriend, dick reminds jason every minute of everyday that you’re his best friend and he is yours.
when jason was younger, aka pre pit, jason he didn’t mind this constant need for dick to prove he knew you better because he knew he was playing and he knew how much and how deeply you cared for him. you were in love with him and jason you, so he put up with this constant teasing of dick boasting about your friendship status because of how secure he was with you.
then he died.
sorry that’s blunt but he did. he died and you were broken and your best friend that always boasted his status actually lived up to it. he was there for you 365 days for five years, trying to break you back into society. but that society he wanted you to get back into was the same one who would post your photo or ask you questions about jason every day and you couldn’t take it.
but you had your best friend.
now jason is alive again. (yay!)
he came to you and all that soft stuff that ruins jason’s tough red hood image but that’s for another day of how much he loves you even as a broken man who thinks he’s an unlovable monster. (lmk if you want my headcannon for that because AWH)
but he came back to you and he’s been back for two years now. and in those two years kori dropped off mar’i grayson on his doorstep and you have since become this sweet babies god parent.
your best friend now officially made you family before jason could, and that set off a little bomb inside your boyfriends head but he chooses to ignore it. because it’s for a baby, a baby he loves, and for a brother he loves.
but now going into the third year of jason being alive and year two of you being a god parent, jason is starting to get annoyed at the old joke of dick boasting his friendship with you everywhere you go.
so his eye starts to twitch and his breathing gets heavy, he’s counting to ten way more than he should, but he hold it in for you and for the sweet baby that he loves so much.
but jason is too hot headed and one day he takes all this anger out on you.
dick comes and gets his child and the two of you talk for a while well jason is getting mar’i ready to go but as soon as he comes into frame with mar’i perched on his hip his older brother opens his fat yap.
“hmm maybe i should have made you the godparent instead of my best friend here.”
jason’s eyes flare as he hands his niece over to his brother looking only at you, watching as your eyes flare over with the same anger his have but a smile covering it up.
the joke was getting on your nerves too but not for the same reasons as jay.
jay gets upset because you’re his (not possessive but kinda but not yk) and he always has that never ending fear of you leaving him for dick.
you are getting upset because jason gets upset and in all honesty, your 23 and dick is 25, he needs to stop acting like a teenager.
“jay.” your voice spoke as the door shut and your boyfriend back was still turned to you. “i know he is annoying but-“
“he needs to shut up.” your boyfriend growled, turning around brushing past you so quickly your swore your body rocked from the wind.
“i know he does but i wanted-“
“he doesn’t get it!” jay whipped around so fast, his head coming down to be eye level, his eyes glowing so bright you could have sworn the lights were turned off.
“he doesn’t know what it feels like to be so insecure with yourself and the people you love. no he doesn’t get it.” he spat, inhaling and backing up away from you before staring again. “he boasts and boasts about the two of you’s relationship and thinks it doesn’t bug me but it does. he never felt insecure, i mean the two girls he ever loved have both waited for him and when it’s not working out encourages him to go back to his ex. i mean what kind of sick shit is that, who says it okay to go back to one girl and then he’ll just end up in their bed again.”
your eyes are wide and hand clamped over your mouth just in shock. jay has never been this, we’ll open all at once before.
“and i know babs loves mar’i, i know she does but she has to think her husband is a little bit of a whore, like she’s raising another woman’s kid, a woman she encouraged dick to go back to!”
he’s huffing and puffing now. looking at you so scared, he doesn’t like feeling small and dick does that every now and again.
“and i know you love me.” he turns and looks at you like you hung all the stars in the sky. “because i love you too with everything in me, but you know that the feeling of him replacing me, 5 years ago or 5 years from now will always haunt me.”
your heart is breaking at this point, your hands coming down to your stomach.
“and seeing you with mar’i, god my heart nearly falls out of my chest every time because it’s something i want with you so fucking badly. i want you to be a mother, my babies mother, something i never thought i would want. i never thought i would want to bring a child into this world but with you i would do it time and time again if i get that same heart pounding and falling out of my chest feeling that i get when i see you and mar’i.”
you think your heart is gonna loose it. you cant hold it in, your eyes are starting to gloss over with how much of his heart jay is showing you since being back.
“but then dick comes in and makes a comment about you being his best friend and you being the godmother and you and him and you and him!”
he’s shouting now at anything, up in the air, at the wall, but not at you, never at you. he’s pacing back and forth trying to calm down, he wants to calm down, you aren’t supposed to know he feels so strongly about it even though a part of you does too.
he pauses now, taking a breathe looking at you holding your stomach, face blank and eyes wide as his outburst slowly simmers down.
“oh fuck me.”
his head is shaking down to the floor, a giant smile creeping it’s way up his face as his mind is shambles. he can’t believe he just poured so much of his emotions out in one go and he can’t believe he just rushed and ruined a perfect moment.
“jay?” you tease call his name, still holding your belly as his head slowly lifts.
“I’m gonna have the heart pounding feeling everyday of my life huh?” he asked with a giant smile, still as ever waiting for you to say or do something. waiting for your eyes to light up and head to nod or for your perfect lips to form the shapes of the word yes.
“yeah, for the rest of our lives.”
you don’t even know what hit you when jay comes running as fast as he can to you. lifting you up and spinning you around. kisses are being thrown everywhere. his eyes are glowing his anger has disappeared and is simply replaced with teeth rotting happiness.
once he finally puts you down he’s kissing your face all over, moving to your belly, kissing and cooing, his heart and head feeling dizzy like he’s being squeezed to tight.
he never thought he would be happy to bring a kid into the world. never. but now he can’t wait to meet them, he can’t wait to be a dad, he just can’t wait.
“i’m gonna love you and love you and love you so much baby.”
he’s speaking to the baby now, kissing after each i love you (which is the most he’s ever said it, i mean he said it to you today and three times to the baby in your tummy, it’s a win.)
he’s officially the happiest man in the world, and dick is the last person on his mind. he doesn’t care what his older brother says or does, he doesn’t care at all.
but as he’s kissing your belly and spinning you around, talking about names and nursery ideas, he can’t help but think your officially his, he officially made you apart of the family, he is the one you love, he is the one your having a baby with.
he is yours and you are his.
Tumblr media
this of course doesn’t stop him from finally shutting dick up when you all announce you’re pregnant to the wayne’s.
“and guess what dick, i’m actually going to be staying with the woman that birthed my baby!”
“you’re dead man walking jason.”
“well yeah, the pit was over three years ago.”
“run.”
and the rest of the week was red hood and night wing running away or after each other during patrol.
GCPD had to have a press conference because the city was scared one of them went rogue.
batman had to be there to assure them they were still working togther.
damian was also there.
he said they are just fighting over who gets the kid in the divorce.
damian was now the dead man walking.

Neglected - Part 5
Sorry for the long wait! I just kinda didn’t really know how to make the reader’s and Jason’s conversation go but I got it! This is the last part of the series!!! I’m going to start working on a story based on this headcannon now. By the way, requests are open! Just no smut. Hope you enjoy!
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 (Current)
---
You had just got home after that long interview. It had taken about 45 minutes and you were exhausted. You didn’t know how you managed to make it through 10 minutes of it. The first few minutes were definitely tense and you knew the press would eat it up. You planned to come clean about your so called family in an interview, but you didn’t plan for it to be the first one ever. You couldn’t control your mouth and the truth just poured out of you. You were glad the interviewer dropped the subject when you asked.
After setting your things down, you dropped onto the couch and lifted your hand above your head. You were staring at the ceiling and contemplating life when your phone rang. You reluctantly hopped off the couch and sprinted to get it. You found it, accepted the call, and then held it to your ear.
“Hello?”
“Hello Y/N, I just saw your interview. Care to explain why you didn’t tell me about it and Y/G/N?”
“Jason! I’m sorry-”
“Y/N I’m so proud of you." You were so shocked, you almost dropped your phone.
“What? You’re not mad I outed the family?” You said in disbelief.
“No, of course not! Why would I be mad? If anything, I’m glad you did that to them. They deserve it. I'm just a little disappointed you didn't tell me about Y/G/N.”
"Well to be fair it was all over the news."
"Well, I haven't had time to check lately."
“Touche. By the way, how is everyone?”
“Don’t know, don’t care. I only tolerate them for the sake of the city.”
“Oh, okay well- wait, what happens if they find out about what I said?! They’re gonna ruin my image, the career that I literally just started, and practically the rest of my life! I-”
“Woah, calm down, relax. They won’t ruin anything.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“They won’t. Trust me. If they do try anything it will be suspicious. No one would believe them.”
You noticed it had become late and you really wanted to take a nap, so you decided it was time to hang up.
“I love you Jason, thank you for everything. I’m exhausted from that interview and I’d like to get a few hours of sleep in.”
“I love ya too sis, just don’t forget me alright?”
“How could I? I’ll talk to you later.”
“Alright, don’t forget. Bye."
“Bye.”
Jason hung up and you placed your phone back down. You made your way to your room and gathered (the clothes u sleep with cuz we don’t judge here) and prepared to shower and then finally take a nap.
---
Timothy Drake sat at the desk in his room, working on cases and occasionally sipping the coffee he had made ten minutes prior. It was 4 PM and he had been working nonstop since he got back from patrol. He opened a new tab on his laptop and saw something rather concerning pop up. It was an article titled “THE WAYNES AREN’T WHO YOU THINK THEY ARE…” Tim clicked on the article and began to read.
---
Bruce had been working in his office when suddenly Tim barged through the door. Bruce’s head snapped up in alarm.
“Look at this!” Tim screeched.
“What is it?” Bruce asked as Tim stomped over to his desk and handed him the laptop.
“Y/N…” Bruce grumbled in annoyance. “Can you remove the article or at least hide it?”
“No, it would look too suspicious. It’s already viral and if it suddenly disappeared people would suspect we had something to do with it.”
“Ugh. Inform Dick and Damian about it. I’ll see what I can do.”
“Okay.” Tim agreed as he quickly snatched his laptop from Bruce and ran back to his room.
---
“What!?” Dick Grayson was shocked. Timothy had just filled him in on the whole news incident Y/N had caused. He was furious. How could Y/N do such a thing and not know how badly her words would hurt their reputation! She was just overreacting and now people would believe her lies. “What’s B going to do?”
“I don’t know, he said he’s taking care of it.”
“Alright, I’ll let Damian know.”
---
"What?" Damian said in shock. Dick had called him while he was walking Titus and explained the situation. How and why would you do this to them? Did you not know how badly this would affect them???
"B says he's taking care of it. Don't worry about it much Dami."
That eased his worries a bit. "Okay, goodbye Grayson."
---
You were startled awake by the sound of your phone ringing. Groaning, you got up and went to retrieve your phone. On the way there, you glanced at the clock and noticed the time. You had slept for way longer than you meant to. Assuming it was someone from Y/G/N checking on you, you answered.
“Hello?”
"Y/N, you can't talk about us like that-"
You cut Bruce off. "I can and I will." You then hung up on him.
You felt a sense of pride wash over you. You were proud of how far you've come over the years. Before you wouldn't dare disobey Bruce. But now you had the courage to cut him off and hang up on him! You then blocked his number as well as Dick's, Tim's, and Damian's.
---
For the next few months, they tried to contact you in every way they knew how. Unfortunately for them, you knew exactly how to avoid and ignore them. They tried to cancel you and make the public believe you were lying. That backfired on them due to Jason exposing their lies and confirming that they did in fact neglect you.
Wayne Enterprises' business started to drop by landslides. Not to the point of bankruptcy but to the point where they were no longer in the top 100. The public started to support you more and Y/G/N gained even more popularity. You were so happy about everything and all the support you were receiving.
Alfred had called you one day congratulating you. He apologized for not trying to get to know you and for letting them treat you that way. He asked if you would like to meet up with him sometime and start to get to know each other. You forgave him and agreed to meet up with him.
Bruce, Dick, Tim, and Damian never bothered you anymore after that and you finally got your happy ending.
---
I DID IT! ITS HERE! IT'S FINISHED! AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED THIS!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING SO SUPPORTIVE!!! If We Were Fast Enough
Flash!Reader x Flashfamily One-Shot
Word Count: 5.3K Warnings: Explicit Language, Angst
Author's Note: I had this idea after watching a few clips of Flashpoint Paradox! Enjoy! -Thorne
**********************************************************************
Her hand was tightly clasped in his, eyes narrowed in sadness, but there was a pride in them; she felt the speed transfer between them, flowing through her veins and he said, “You’ve got my speed, honey. It’s up to you now.”
The tears that had welled in her vision tipped over and she whispered, “I can’t leave you here, dad. I—I can’t just run away.”
He shook his head. “You’re not running away. You’re surviving.” A groan escaped him, and the pool of blood seemed to double in size. “We’re running out of time. You’ve gotta go before the timeline collapses.”
“Where do I go?” she asked, wiping her eyes. “This universe is home.”
“Honey, Speedsters are Speedsters whichever universe we’re in.” he smiled weakly at her. “You’ll have a family wherever you end up.”
She gazed at him, breathing deeply as fresh tears grew in her gaze. “I’m scared.”
“I know. But you can do this.” he replied, pausing to look her over. “You look just like your mother, honey.” He smiled tearfully. “She’d be so proud of you if she were here now.”
Pulling the cowl over her head, she gave a watery laugh. “Mom always said I looked like you.”
“Nah. You take your speed and nature after me, but you are a spitting image of your mother.” A blast sounded in the distance and they both looked over, eyes widening as the white flash of light grew larger and larger. “You have to go. Now.”
Swallowing thickly, she leaned down and hugged him around his neck as tight as she could, inhaling the scent of ozone and spearmint for the last time. “I love you, dad. I love you so much.” Her fingers dug into his ruined suit as she cried. “I love you.”
He caressed the back of her cowled head. “I love you more, honey.” Pulling away, he leveled her with a firm look. “Now run, Lightning Flash. Run.”
The bluish-white lightning flowed across her body, and she turned, letting her feet carry her across the war-torn field, escaping the atomic blast. The world melted around her, a blur of memories surrounding her: her birthdays, her parents’ faces, her first stroke as a Flash, the start of the war, the deaths of her friends and family, everything up until now.
She was helpless to stop the tears that flowed down her cheeks, the feeling of her heart pounding in her chest, and the booming in her ears as she ripped through the waves of time and the boundaries of space.
A shriek sounded behind her, and she turned her head, eyes widening. “Ah shit!”
The time wraith screamed at her again, reaching out to grab her and she just barely dodged it, turning back to face the flowing warp. She was close. All she had to do was get to the next time boundary and she could lose the wraith.
“Almost there!” she told herself as another bellowed sounded in her ears again, and with one final leap, she burst through the barrier, the waves collapsing around her. The shock of the blast sent her skidding along the ground, and she cried out as she rolled.
Shouts sounded in her ears, humans, but she was more concerned about the screaming time wraith. “I just lost everything! Can’t you just leave me the hell alone!” It shrieked at her again, advancing and anger welled through her as she pushed herself to her feet and she growled, “You wanna dance, you sonovabitch? Then let’s dance.”
Her eyes lit up in a white force and she darted past the wraith, hitting a point above it, then she darted past again, and again and again in a star formation, over and over until all that could be seen was a blur of blue and white. The clouds rumbled above, swirling faster and faster and she hit the top of the star, coming down at the wraith. A burst of lightning cracked from the sky, striking the time being just as she collided with it, and in a hail of blue and white strikes, the wraith exploded into smoking fragments.
As the smoke cleared, the human voices grew louder, but she was sprawled out on the ground, breathing heavily, her body crying under the strain. Someone placed their hand on her shoulder, worrying, “Are you alright?”
She nodded weakly. “Yeah…just gimme a minute. The five-star lightning strike always takes a lot outta me.” Shutting her eyes, she focused on breathing deeply.
“I’ve never seen anyone destroy a time wraith before.”
“It takes practice.” Craning her neck, she opened her eyes, and bit back a sob as the man’s face cleared before hers. “You’re this world’s Flash, aren’t you?” she whispered, “Barry Allen.” His blue eyes widened, and he nodded mutely. “I figured.”
“Who are you?” he asked. “What world did you come from?”
She shook her head. “Doesn’t matter. It’s gone now.” Meeting his gaze once more, she added, “But you can call me the Lightning Flash.”
“What’s your real name?” Barry quizzed.
(Y/N) Allen. And I’d tell you that but all it’d do is bring hurt to both of us.
“(Y/N) Sloan.” She laid her head down, closing her eyes. “I’m gonna take a nap for a while…I’m really…tired…”
His voice called out to her, but all she heard was a warbling noise as she drifted into darkness.
***
When she came to, her head felt like someone had thrown an overripe melon off a balcony ledge and watched it splatter across the ground. She groaned and forced her eyes to open, pushing herself up on her palms.
“Woah, woah, woah!” someone worried. “Take it easy there, Flashy.”
(Y/N) looked over, seeing a familiar green symbol, and an ever more familiar unmasked face. “I’m fine, Hal.”
He blinked. “You know who I am?”
“Please, I’d know that big head of yours from a mile away.” Smirking, she added, “I know everyone in the Justice League.” She grunted, pulling her left arm over her chest, feeling the taut muscles in her back ripple as she stretched them out. “Where am I?”
“The Watchtower.” Hal gazed at her curiously. “Man, when Barry said you knew who he was, I didn’t think he meant you knew all of us.”
“You sound upset that you didn’t get to introduce yourself,” she shot back with a pained grin, stretching her other arm. “If it makes you feel any better, I’ll forget I know you, and you can reintroduce yourself.”
He chuckled and pressed a button on the side of the med bay bed. “Nah, no point now.” He looked down at the small light flashing. “Hey, she’s awake.”
In an instant, a sharp wind blew across the room and there stood the scarlet speedster without his cowl; moments later, the doors opened and in walked the top League members, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman.
(Y/N) threw her legs over the side of the bed as they walked over, waving off Barry and Hal who both reached for her, and stood on shaky legs. “Shit, I feel like a newly born giraffe.”
“You shouldn’t be up.” Barry frowned. “You practically tore yourself apart at the molecular level.”
“It was that or be taken by a time wraith,” she shot back, cracking her neck. “How long have I been out?”
“Eighty-six hours,” Batman said, taking her chin in his hand, tipping her head side to side as he shown a light in her eyes. “Your body’s been recovering slower than it should for a Flash.”
(Y/N) blinked. “The particular move does like Barry said it did. It tears the body at the molecular level to contain the speed force into one location.”
“It was dangerous,” Barry scowled, and she couldn’t help but laugh at this younger version of her father who was still just as serious.
“Being a Flash is dangerous.” She felt Batman pull away and she flexed her fingers. “I don’t use the move unless it’s a life-or-death situation.” Glancing at Barry, she questioned, “What earth is this?”
Before he could speak, Batman denounced, “You time jumped, and you don’t know what earth you came into?”
“I didn’t exactly have time to think out a plan while a nuclear blast was going off, Bruce,” she growled, glaring at him from behind the neon blue mask. “And to top it off, I had a time wraith coming after me. I wasn’t in a position to choose which earth I wanted.”
He went silent, gazing at her intently. “Whose names do you know of the Justice League here?”
(Y/N) looked around at the superheroes before her. “You’re all the same Justice League as my earth, but in mine, you’re retired, and your children run the show.”
“I’m sorry, children?” Hal interrupted. “We have—we have children?”
“Some,” she laughed. “Conner Kent is our Superman, Donna Troy is our Wonder Woman, Jason Todd is our Batman, Kyle Rayner is our Green Lantern, and Roy Harper is our Green Arrow.”
“And you?” Superman questioned.
“I’m my Justice League’s Flash. The Lightning Flash.” (Y/N) smiled wearily. “The fastest woman alive.” She toyed with the blue and white gauntlet. “At least now I am.”
“You said you were our kids?” Hal said. “Are you Barry’s daughter?”
The two Speedsters looked at each other and she answered calmly, “No. My transformation into the Flash was a freak accident, much like Wally West’s. That being said, I’m not related to the Flashfamily by blood.”
“Hmm.” Batman grunted, then turned, wandering off. “You need to rest up more then we’ll run tests.”
“Only if she consents.” Barry called out.
Bruce stopped, not even bothering to look over his shoulder as he retorted, “She’s a Speedster from another universe. We need more information before we can let her loose in anyone’s city.”
As he wandered off, she placed her hands on her hips and griped, “God, I miss Jason being Batman. He’s less of a jerk-off about new things.”
Superman chuckled, resting a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t take it the wrong way…(Y/N), was it?”
She nodded. “Yeah, (Y/N) Sloan.” Sticking her hand out, she added, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Pleasure’s all mine,” he murmured, shaking her hand strongly, then he pulled away. “He is right though. You should get some more rest before you wander around the Watchtower.”
She waved it off. “I’ll be alright. If you’ve got a treadmill designed for Speedsters though, I’d like to run a bit.”
“I’ll show you where it is,” Barry answered, leading her from the group. As they walked down the hallway, she paused, leaning against the wall as a wave of nausea came over her; he caught it instantly. “Are you okay?” he frowned. “We should go back to the med bay.”
“No.” she grunted. “I’m fine. Just…just gimme a moment.” Shaking it off, she squared her shoulders. “I absorbed speed from the remaining Speedsters on my world before I left. It’s just taking a toll on me.”
“Why absorb their speed?” he asked, and she could tell from his voice that there was a level of suspicion in it.
“Because it was the only way to keep it from being stolen by our enemies as we were being slaughtered.” (Y/N) looked down the hall. “We can go now. It’s passed.” She bypassed him, wandering down the hallway, though she kept a hand on the railing the entire time.
***
It wasn’t a surprise that they sent her back to Central City with Barry after the few tests she’d let them run. Only tests on the outside, no blood or DNA samples for them to investigate. Barry’s apartment was cramped and there wasn’t room for them both to be in the kitchen, but she’d lived there before, so ducking under his arms and turning around him was second nature.
And Barry, bless the kindhearted soul he was, tried at every opportunity to make her comfortable in the home. (Y/N) respected it, knowing that even worlds apart, Barry Allen was still Barry Allen. She watched him sometimes. When he was sitting on the sofa or at the bar, flipping through paperwork or reading a book on physics. He always lost track of time, forgot what was happening around him, but his face showed ease. Peace. Like the world wasn’t on his shoulders.
It made her miss her father. It made her miss her family and friends. Her world. (Y/N) cried at night on the couch, silent tears dripping down her cheeks as she remembered every last moment of her family and friends’ lives. She’d been lucky in the end to come out unscathed. But her father, his friends, her friends, all dead. All killed in a pointless war that ended with the entire world blown to hell—and she was the only one left.
She sat beside the window, gazing down at the quiet street below her; she felt like crying, but by now, she’d cried out every tear, and all that remained was the hole drilled in her chest, empty and aching.
“(Y/N)?” Glancing over, she saw Barry coming out from his bedroom, brows furrowing at her. “Are you okay?”
Shrugging, she looked back out the window. “I don’t know if I’ll ever be okay again, Barry.” It was hard to not call him ‘dad’ all the time, and weird to call him ‘Barry’.
She felt him sit opposite of her on the little bench. “Can I help you anyway?”
It took a while for her to speak, but when she did, her voice was barely above a whisper. “It’s all gone. My life. All of it. I’m the only one left from my world.” She swallowed the lump in her throat. “I’m…alone.” His hand rested on hers and she felt tears well in her gaze. “I miss my family…and I miss my friends.”
She shook her head, looking at him. “Why my world? Why us?” tears slipped down her cheeks. “Everything was fine one moment and the next thing any of us knew, the world was going to war, and we couldn’t stop it.” A loathing laugh escaped her. “We were the Justice League. The proteges of the greatest heroes and yet we couldn’t stop war.”
(Y/N) wiped her tears. “We failed. I failed.”
“What happened wasn’t your fault, (Y/N).” Barry murmured. “You know that.”
“It feels like it.” She countered. “What do I have to show for all my saving? A sole survivor stuck in a world that has no need for her.”
His eyes were narrowed in concern, the way her father’s used to do when she’d tell him of her troubles and doubts. “There’s always a need for us. Everyone one of us.”
“Speedsters?” she asked, and he squeezed her hand.
“If the universe wanted you dead, you’d be dead, (Y/N). But you’re here and you’re alive.” He smiled sadly. “You can’t outrun the past. But you can change the direction you’re running in.”
She gazed at him and for once in the past few weeks she’d been there, she felt her heart lighten. “Thank you, Barry.”
He smiled warmly at her and patted her hand. “Since we’re both awake…wanna go for a run?”
(Y/N) chuckled and nodded her head. “Yeah. It’d certainly help burn off the emotions.” She held out her hand and Barry looked at the ring on her finger.
“Wow, your ring is cool.” He took her hand, gazing intently at it. “I noticed your suit isn’t red like most of us Speedsters are. Yours is mainly blue and white.”
She nodded. “It was too complicated to call myself Flash since there were more than one, so I took the name Lightning Flash and designed my suit the colors associate with lighting.” (Y/N) vibrated and reappeared in her suit. “Blue and white.”
“With silver trimming,” he added, poking the mask she wore, and she batted his hand away.
“Hey, gold’s overrated.”
Barry’s face pinched as he vibrated into his suit. “Is not!”
“Is too! It’s the colors for the Seminoles.”
He placed a hand to his chest. “I can’t believe you just told me my colors were FSU’s colors. I’ve been fatally wounded.”
“You’re a drama queen,” (Y/N) laughed then started towards the door. “Race you to Coast City!”
Barry sped after her. “Why Coast City!”
“Because it’s California, man!” she watched as he matched her speed. “And Hal’s apartment always has Doritos!”
“I think you might have a crush on our resident Green Lantern,” Barry teased and (Y/N) gagged.
“Dude, gross.”
“Oh, come on! Don’t tell me you aren’t friends with your Green Lantern!”
“The best, but Kyle and I were only friends! My dalliance fell with another team member!”
“Batman?” he asked, and she nodded.
“Batman.”
“Oh. Lovely.” Barry sighed. “You and Jason Todd seem like a wonderful pair.”
(Y/N) snorted. “Contrary to popular belief, Jason was actually a fantastic Batman. He loved it, oddly enough.”
“That is odd,” the Speedster countered. “Because as far as I know, none of the Batkids want to be Batman.”
She merely laughed in return, passing the Coast City sign.
***
“You know these aren’t…my world folks, right?”
He smiled, watching the group of young adults across the room laugh and joke around. “I know, but the lot of us thought it would be good if you got together with the age group of you own.” Barry looked over. “Besides, I think you’re going to fit right in with this world’s group.”
(Y/N) tipped her head side to side, huffing a laugh as Jason thumped Kyle in the side. “We’ll see.” She let Barry lead her over and the small group perked up at their arrival.
“Hey guys, thanks for coming on such short notice. I know you were busy.”
Jason crossed his arms over his chest. “So, why did the League invite us all?”
Barry gestured to (Y/N). “I’d like everyone to meet (Y/N) Sloan. She’s a Speedster who recently arrived on this earth.”
“Recently?” Roy asked and he nodded.
“There was a…problem on her earth.” He glanced at her and nodded, prompting her to speak.
“My world isn’t in the general stream of timelines anymore.” She smiled awkwardly. “I came here to…survive more or less.” Holding out her hand for one of them to shake, she said, “But it’s a pleasure to meet you all.”
“You know who we are?” Kyle asked as he shook her hand.
“Yeah. This world is surprisingly similar to mine, Kyle.” (Y/N) smiled with a little less awkwardness. “I know all of you.” Her eyes fell on Jason who was watching her closely, teal eyes narrowed in calculation. “Penny for your thoughts?”
He hummed. “Who are we over there?”
At that, all the awkwardness fell away. “You don’t wanna know,” she giggled, and his face dropped.
“No.” she nodded, and he whispered, “Me?”
“You.”
“I’m confused,” Roy interrupted, and Donna snickered.
“I think Jason’s the Batman of (Y/N)’s world.”
“HA!” everyone dissolved into hysterics as Jason proceeded to all but cry.
“I don’t wanna be Batman!” he whined. “Why am I Batman! Why not anyone else!”
(Y/N) laughed. “What are you talking about? You volunteered to be Batman.”
“Jesus, I must’ve lost my mind then,” Jason retorted, then looked at her. “Do I carry guns?”
“Non-lethal rounds.”
“Damnit.” He sulked. “Can’t freakin’ believe I’m the Batman on your world and I willingly put the suit on.”
“You were a good Batman,” she stated. “There wasn’t anyone I trusted more to watch my back on the team.”
He met her gaze, seemingly shocked, though it only lasted a minute as he quizzed, “So if I’m Batman, does that make all of us…?”
(Y/N) nodded. “Yep. Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Arrow, and Green Lantern.”
“And you?” Kyle asked.
“Lightning Flash,” she answered coolly. “The fastest woman alive.” Meeting their gazes, she tipped her head down. “I know you’re not them…but I do hope we can be friends.” She smiled. “You can never have too many of those, no matter what world you’re on.”
Kyle looked over at Barry who was almost crying. “We get to keep her, right? Because if we don’t, I’m going to be very upset.”
(Y/N) snorted and wrapped a loose arm around his waist. “Don’t worry, Kyle. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.” A growling sounded and her cheeks warmed as she pressed a hand to her stomach. “Sorry about that.”
Jason laughed, getting to his feet. “I guess Speedster stomachs are the same no matter what world you’re on.”
“Isn’t that the truth,” Barry retorted, and the vigilante looked at her.
“Wanna annoy Batman and hang around Gotham City?”
(Y/N) nodded. “Absolutely.”
“Wait for me!” Roy shouted, yanking his legs from the table, and soon the others were following.
Barry watched them as they walked to the Zeta-Tubes, laughing and ribbing one another like they’d been friends since childhood; someone nudged him in the side, murmuring, “She’s gonna be okay.”
He nodded as Hal settled beside him. “Yeah…I know she will.” He smiled as (Y/N) leaned into Jason’s side and brought a hand to her eyes, wiping the tears away. “She’s already fitting in better than I thought.”
“(Y/N)’s a strong woman,” Hal acknowledged. “She acts a lot like you in that aspect.”
“How so?” Barry inquired and the Lantern shrugged.
“Well, you can’t get her to stop attending League meetings no matter what Batman says, and she’s always ready to put herself on the line for us.” Hal huffed a laugh. “And she treats me like I’m an old man. I’m thirty-eight and she acts like I’m fifty-six.” He looked at Barry. “But she flows in the world like you, Barry. Her mannerisms, her styles, her speech, it’s all you.”
The Speedster frowned, quietly stating, “You think she’s my future daughter, don’t you?”
Hal shrugged. “She doesn’t look like you, but she’s comfortable around you. Like she knows she’s safe if you’re there with her.”
“Why lie about it though?” Hal could tell Barry was hurt. “Wouldn’t she want to tell me?”
“If you lost everything and showed up in another world where there was a parent still alive, would you act like nothing changed or would you keep it at arms-length?”
Barry sighed. “You’re…right.” He shook his head. “I didn’t even think of that.” His frown deepened. “She must hate looking at me though. I’m not her dad but I’m another version of him.”
“She doesn’t hate you, Barry.” Hal said, clasping his hand on his best friend’s shoulder. “She’s just…trying to keep it all together and not mix this world with hers.”
“I feel connected with her.” He admitted. “The speed force works funny like that. We can feel other speedsters—we know their speeds and auras.” His voice became soft. “Hers feels like…like…”
“Like?” Hal encouraged and Barry sighed.
“Her aura feels like when I went back in time and saved my mom.” He shook his head. “It’s hard to explain but she feels like—”
“Like family.”
Barry gaped at Hal. “Yeah…that’s exactly it.”
Hal nodded. “She’s still your daughter even worlds apart.”
“What do I say to her?”
“Don’t.” he answered. “Let her come to you about it.”
“That sounds like a good idea,” Barry agreed.
***
The group had dispersed as quickly as it had come together, not that she was overly upset—she knew they all had prior engagements and teams to be apart of, but she would’ve been lying to say that it hadn’t saddened her a bit. Jason and Kyle, however, seemed to be the only ones that were usually around, Jason more than the latter.
(Y/N) liked being around Jason. He was much more hotheaded than she was used to, but she decided that like the Flashes, Jason Todd was Jason Todd no matter what universe he was in.
He was a little more reckless than she knew, playing fast and loose with the game, but he knew where his feet landed with each jump, and he was there when she needed help, her the same.
It hadn’t taken him long to deduce that the two of them were more than friends in her world, making the joke that she was his Catwoman—she’d cried she’d laughed so hard, but it given them time to talk about everything that had happened to her and her world; most importantly, her father.
She watched as Jason reclined against the cool stone of the ledge, passing one of the wrapped cheeseburgers to her. “Thank you,” she murmured, unwrapping it.
“Mhm,” he hummed, sipping his milkshake, setting his hood beside him; he swallowed and looked over. “What’s on your mind?”
(Y/N) blinked. “What are you talking about?” he merely cocked a brow and she sighed. “I forgot you could read people well.”
“Well maybe if you were a book and not a pamphlet, it’d be harder.”
“Did you just call me simple?”
“Never.” He waved it off. “What are you thinking about?”
She sighed again and set her half-eaten burger aside, pulling her knees to her chest as she whispered, “My mom’s maiden name was Sloan.”
Jason arched a brow. “You go by ‘Sloan’. Was your mom married?”
“My parents were. She died from cancer when I was ten.”
“I’m sorry,” he lamented, and she smiled.
“Thank you.” (Y/N) looked over. “My last name is Allen.”
His eyes widened. “As in Barry Allen, Allen?”
“Yeah…my dad.”
Jason blinked. “Holy shit.”
“Mhm.” She propped her chin on her knees. “The reason I’m just as fast as Wally West in this world is because I absorbed my dad’s speed before I left mine.” (Y/N) gazed at the city. “And then I left him to die in the blast.”
“You know that wasn’t your fault.”
She huffed. “So Barry’s told me.”
Jason stared at her. “Why do you live with him in Central City?”
“Because I don’t have anywhere else to go,” she answered. “And I…I—”
“You miss your dad.” He answered for her, and she nodded, feeling warmth gather in her eyes and she squeezed them shut.
“Yeah…it’s not him but…”
“It’s the only thing you’ve got that’s close enough to him.”
“Yeah.”
Jason nodded. “You’re welcome to come live with me over here.”
(Y/N) looked over at him. “I can’t do that, Jason.”
“Why not?”
She laughed. “We barely know each other.”
He shrugged. “We know each other enough.” Gazing at her, he added, “I’m not your world’s Jason, but we must be similar enough because I’ve seen and felt you fall behind me during fights, being at my six when I didn’t have it covered.” He smiled. “You know me, (Y/N), and I’d like to know you too.”
She merely gaped at him, then huffed a laugh. “I think that’s the most similar thing to my world’s Jason that I’ve heard you say.”
“Oh, come on!” he griped. “He couldn’t be that different from me!”
(Y/N) smiled. “Robins.”
Jason blanched. “I had Robins?”
“You had a son, who was exactly like you right now.”
“I wanna ask about the son, but what do you mean right now?”
“Oh, you know…hotheaded, anti-social, antagonistic.”
“You’re cute,” he scowled, then looked into the distance. “I can’t imagine bringing my kid with me.”
(Y/N) giggled. “Please, it took him like five years of complete begging on his knees before you’d even let him put on the suit, let alone go out with you.” She reached over and pushed hair behind his ear. “You were a good father…a good man.” Her expression turned sad. “I wasn’t fast enough to save either of you.”
Jason leaned into her touch, a frown on his face. “They know you tried, (Y/N).”
Tears gathered in her eyes. “I hope they knew that.” She shook her head as the tears started to spill over. “I lost everyone. You, JJ, my dad and all my friends.” (Y/N) stared at him through the tears. “How do I just start over after all that?”
He pushed the takeout bags out of the way and scooted over, pulling her to his chest; she buried her face in his suit and he propped his chin on the crown of her head. “I wish I had an answer for you.” He rubbed circles in her back. “But I do know that you can either let this keep you down, or you can get back up. Because if you don’t…then every life lost was in vain for you to survive.”
“I take it back,” she blubbered. “Your philosophical bullshit life lessons are the most Jason thing I’ve heard.”
He smiled, squeezing her tight. “That’s what we’re gonna call it now. Philosophical bullshit life lessons.” Jason pressed a kiss to her head. “It’s going to be okay, (Y/N). It’ll get better.”
***
It’d been a full year since she’d come to the new earth. She hadn’t moved in with Jason yet, but the moving boxes on the couch were the start of it—and she hadn’t told Barry she was leaving, or that he was her dad. (Y/N) wasn’t sure how to break that seal just yet.
She wandered around the tiny apartment, smiling at all the memories she’d made in the past year, and into his bedroom, where she paused at his dresser. A gold ring rested on top of it, and she picked it up, flipping it in her hand.
A woosh sounded from the door. “I’m home!” Barry’s voice trailed off in confusion and he called, “(Y/N)?”
“Here.”
He appeared in her peripheral, but she didn’t take her eyes off the ring, still gazing at the center stones. “There are boxes on the couch.”
“I’m moving in with Jason over in Gotham.”
“Oh…” he murmured, then took sight of what she had in her hands. “Is that—”
“Nora’s wedding ring?” she nodded. “Yeah.”
“How’d you know it was my mom’s?” Barry asked, stepping up to her and she finally looked at him, meeting his eyes.
“Because I had the same one in my world.” (Y/N) searched his gaze. “But you don’t seem surprised by that fact.” She sighed. “How long have you known?”
Barry’s face contorted in shame. “A few weeks after you got here.”
“Why didn’t you say something?”
He shook his head. “Hal said—” he sighed. “I wanted to wait until you said something to me about it. I was afraid if I did, you’d run.”
(Y/N)’s brows pulled together, lips pulling down sadly. “Barry…”
“I know I’m not your dad,” he whispered. “But I know, (Y/N). I can feel it.”
She felt her lips wobble and before she knew it, she was throwing herself into his arms, wrapping hers around his waist as tight as she could. “Dad.”
Barry’s arms came around her, one holding the back of her head, the other in the middle of her back. “I’m here, (Y/N).”
“I missed you so much,” she cried. “I wasn’t fast enough to save them, and I couldn’t save you either.”
“No,” he said. “You did everything you could. I know you did.”
“But I wasn’t fast enough.” (Y/N) sobbed. “You had to give me your speed so I could run away. Like a coward.”
“Like a survivor,” Barry corrected. “You’ve never run away.” He ran his fingers through her hair. “You’re a survivor, (Y/N). And your dad made sure of that.” He pulled away slightly, tears of his own dripping down his cheeks. “You’re fast enough.” She shut her eyes as more tears rolled down her cheeks and he pressed his lips to her forehead. “And no matter what world you’re on, you’re still my daughter.”
A laugh that sounded much more like a sob escaped her and she hugged him again. “I love you, dad.”
Barry smiled, holding her tight. “I love you more, honey.”

She turned another page of her book, so focused on the story that she didn't even hear the door of the apartment where she lived with her boyfriend open. Images of monsters, mages and hunters flashed before her eyes, her mind long gone. The soft summer breeze from the half-open window reached her and made her shiver slightly. She rarely had the opportunity to spend such a relaxing evening, but the city had been quiet for the past few days, which had allowed her to take a day of rest, under the guidance of her teammates. She had put so much energy into fighting crime that she was entitled to a break. She thought of thanking Jason later, who surprisingly was the first to suggest the idea.
Footsteps suddenly awakened her from her dream world and her muscles tensed before she recognized Dick's light, bouncing walk, a habit he had surely picked up from his circus days. Only his steps were heavier and she recognized a sign of extreme fatigue. She leaned over to the clock radio on your bedside table and read the time for the first time in a long time. The dial showed five hours and thirty minutes. He was home later than usual, and she hadn't been lost in a series of books in a very long time.
The door to their room opened softly and Dick, still in his suit, walked in with his shoulders hunched and looking more tired than ever. He looked down at the floor but caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye of the dim light of his bedside lamp and looked up with a look of slight disappointment on his face.
-You're supposed to be resting, honey, not waiting for me.
She gave him a small, apologetic smile. Even though he knew she couldn't sleep properly without knowing he was safe next to her, he couldn't help but blame her for ruining his sleep for him. He shuffled his feet to the bed, not paying attention to the noise he was making now that he knew she wasn't sleeping. He literally threw himself on the mattress, falling on top of her in the process. All the grace had left his body by the time he decided he was too tired to do anything.
A small laugh left her mouth and she put her book down with difficulty.
-Come on baby, you have to take a shower, you really have to.
He didn't react, only sinking deeper into the woman.
-But you're so comfortableeeee!
She rolled her eyes at his childishness. She swore that this man had refused to grow up mentally.
-I promise you that if you let me make you a bath you can spend the whole night on me.
He turned his head slightly so he could see her face and raised his hand to his eyes.
-Do you promise?
She shook her head slightly and hooked her little finger on his. He had really refused to grow up. She stood up, then pushed him gently to the left. Now that he had touched the sheets with his suit, she had to change them. She hated it when he did that, even though she understood his fatigue. When she came home from patrol, the bed seemed to call to her and save her a place in heaven.
[...]
The air in the bathroom had become heavy and you couldn't see much because of the steam. The bath Dick was now in was scalding hot and allowed him to rest his muscles. He sighed with contentment and closed his eyes as he readjusted himself. Perhaps he had overdone himself a bit tonight, but he would never admit it out loud for fear of scaring Y/N. Even though they had been fighting crime together for several years and despite the fact that she knew full well that he could defend himself she still had for him. And it was the same the other way around. Sometimes their constant worrying about each other was a bad thing, but often it allowed them to fight more effectively.
He finally got up when he realized that if he stayed any longer he would eventually fall asleep, waking up in cold water was not in his plan. He took the towel his girlfriend had left for him and went to their room, after emptying the bath. It was almost seven o'clock and if he wanted to get some sleep before leaving for work, he had to go to bed now. That was without counting Y/N who was still lounging in their bed, her legs bare because of the short shorts she was wearing and her upper body covered by a t-shirt she had stolen from Dick. He watched her for a few seconds. He was certainly in the mood.
He smiled softly before pulling on a boxer shorts and settling on the bed. He didn't bother to warn her and took the book out of Y/N's hands to replace the empty space with his body. Before she could ask any questions, he kissed her soft lips, taking her hips hostage. He felt his lover's hands tugging at his hair and she pushed him away slightly.
-You need to rest, Dick.
She had barely whispered these words, against the lips of the man before he kissed her again. This time she didn't put up much resistance, although she was aware that he must really be sleeping. He finally pulled away to get some air, a smirk stuck on his face. At his arrogance, Y/N slapped his shoulder lightly.
-I called your work and told them you were sick.
She received the big eyes from the dark-haired man who did not like to miss work even if he had to.
-Don't look at me like that, you're the one who came home late and bruised. Now go to sleep, we have the whole day ahead of us.
-Okay, Mom.
She rolled her eyes at his childish behavior before turning off the bedside lamp and settling comfortably between the cousins, the comforter at the other end of the bed because of the heat. She felt Dick's arms tighten around her and he settled his head on her chest before falling fast asleep.

Graveyard Siblings (3)
Some for revenge and some sibling bonding.
[Masterlist]
(Part 1)(Part 2)
-------
Adrien was next to be visited. Plagg woke him up from his sleep.
-------
“Kit, wake up. I want camembert.”
“Plagg, silence. You are not getting any cheese if you do that.”
“Sorry, Adrien but you are not my ‘master’ anymore.”
“Plagg? Why are you here? Where’s the ring?”
“The ring is as far away as possible and kept safely away. I am here because someone wants to talk to you.”
“Who?”
A cloaked, hooded figure stepped out of the shadows to his room.
“Kitty. My Chaton. Did you miss me?” A sweet, familiar but yet so terrifying voice came from the figure.
She pulled down the hood to reveal Ladybug with a wicked-looking black mask with white lenses.
“What am I talking about? You do miss me. Your Bugaboo. Too bad I don’t feel the same, Adrien.”
Lightning flashed and it started to rain. The mask was gone, revealing his dead classmate, Marinette with chilling red eyes. The pigtails grew longer and curved upwards, giving the illusion of her having horns. Twin blades flashed and she leaped towards him. (Damian gave them to her with some lessons in exchange for spending time with, babysitting, the kwamis.)
Adrien scrambled away from the bed in the nick of time. A sword impaling the spot where he just was.
“Plagg, help. Where is the ring? I need to transform.”
“Sorry, kitten. I am not telling you. Even if you did have the ring, it’s not going to be much help.”
“Kitty, stay still. Then, we can be together. Just like you wanted.”
Adrien continued to dodge.
“What do you mean?” He all but screamed at Plagg.
“Pigtails, here, is a vengeful spirit. She’s not going to stop until she is satisfied. How about asking her what she wants?”
“Ladybug, what do you want?”
“What I wanted was a partner I could rely on, someone I can trust with my life, someone who wouldn’t stab me in the back for his own selfish gain. I wanted a friend who would have my back and not tell me to keep quiet at the price of my mental health and my relationships with people I care about. WAS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!”
She managed to get a cut on his left cheek.
Soon, he was on the ground, bleeding out on the round.
“Tell Hawkmoth that he better watch out. Because-” lightning struck and Plagg and Ladybug had disappeared, “his downfall is coming.” Her voice echoed through his room.
Adrien laid bleeding until Natalie opened the door after hearing a crash from the room and came to check on him. As she called an ambulance for Adrien, she wondered if it wasn’t too late to ask for redemption and be spared from Ladybug’s wrath for her part in her murder.
Adrien had the word ‘TRAITOR’ carved into his back. Forever reminding him of his crimes.
--------
He wasn’t in school for a week after the incident. They all were told that Adrien had an accident while fencing.
Gabriel was a little panicking now.
He hired an exorcist, (John Constantine got a hefty amount and did a few flashy magic tricks to appease Gabriel but he didn’t lift the curse Maria put on the place. She is not someone to be on the bad side of and he thinks that he can’t lift it even if he wanted to.)
Emilie gets a little sus at Gabriel when he brought this strange man with a British accent into their home after their son got attacked in his own room with security tighter than Fort Knox.
She doesn’t buy that ‘accident’ bullshit that her husband, son and even Natalie tries to sell her. She thinks it is connected to what happened while she was in a coma.
-----
Adrien has a curse too.
(Credit to @raeuberprinzessin for giving me an idea)
He couldn’t act like the ‘Perfect Adrien’ in public anymore. Acting more like Chat Noir at first then, later a spoiled brat. His friends thought that he was finally rebelling against his father and encouraged it a lot.
Adrien started criticizing other people, strangers at first then to the people working on the photoshoots to his fans to his other school mates, people in his class and his friends. (The curse planted ideas into his head about what he should say and he said them all without thinking about the effect it has on other people)
People started avoiding him not liking his attitude and his comments about how they should behave and change something about them because he doesn’t like it that way and guilt-tripping them when he doesn’t get his way. Even Nino started to distance himself after he saw how Adrien talked to a fan.
The public thought it was a phase but as he got progressively worse, people started despising him. Adrien doesn’t realize this of course so far, happy that his father let him get away with ‘ruining the Agreste image.’ (Gabriel was worried about a potential vengeful ghost and making sure his wife didn't know about his stint as a supervillain. There was also the fact that the Afterlife made more sales than him again and managed to get on the cover of Vogue when he should have, dammit.) He was finally able to say what he wanted to without repercussions. Until he realized when Nino and everyone else cancelled for a hangout for the third time that week that he was slowly losing his friends.
He panics and tries to fix the situation. He didn’t want to be alone again.
He talks to Nino about it and to his horror, he couldn’t stop himself from saying many things that were a little hurtful. (Second part. The moment he realizes he is going to be alone. He is going to find out that yes, lies can hurt people. He is going to see it happen firsthand.)
Nino moved seats and told Adrien that their friendship was on hold until he apologized.
Soon, nearly every time his mouth opened, lies and insults about his friends or their embarrassing secrets came spilling out. Everyone hated him now and Mme. Bustier tried to give him a reprimand about his behaviour, which when he tried to defend himself, he found himself unable to speak.
He managed to explain to his father what caused his unpopularity by writing what happened to him. Unfortunately due to his poor behaviour before the second part of the curse was activated, his fan base was dwindling and people didn’t like him anymore so there was a hit on the Gabriel brand.
He no longer has to do modeling, clearing his schedule. But no one would spend time with him.
The best solution he could do with his predicament was to keep quiet and endure the loneliness and the glares of his classmates at school. Adrien was relegated to the back and nearly everyone avoided him. He was now a social pariah.
Even Lila avoided him because of her own curse which made Adrien turn into one of her previous victims. (She also didn’t ponder why Marinette rarely appears compared to the others.)
If Adrien felt a tiny bit remorseful or guilty for making Marinette keep quiet or betraying Ladybug, he can gain a little control over what he says.
The curse can be broken if he apologizes to Maria herself or to her grave.
------
The first few months, while Marinette adapted to living with the Waynes, Jason stayed over at Wayne Manor because having Maria living with him at his apartment wasn’t a good idea and he had no clue how to take care of a teenage girl.
On paper she is adopted by Bruce because Jason can’t. (Some CPS reasons.)
Making Jason a little more salty towards Bruce. “I found her first. I called dibs.”
Brought Maria to meet the other Outlaws and they adopted her too. “Hey, guys. She’s my sister first.”
Jason was the one to teach her how to shoot a gun because he was ‘the most capable’ of teaching her.
The first few months were a little tense with Marinette not fully trusting them and the same with the rest of the Batfam.
Jason warmed her up a bit to him by telling a little of why he took her here.
He was also the one to book them flight to Paris with Bruce’s credit card so she can tell her friends that she wasn’t dead in person.
They bonded more after stopping some nefarious plot in Paris while they were there. Let’s say Gentleman Ghost and something involving the catacombs in Paris. (I watched some Batman: Brave and the Bold for childhood nostalgia.)
Kwamis were animal-shaped and they were interesting creatures to be around. And very very curious.
There was a stressful day for Maria when all the Kwamis decided to play hide and seek. Damian somehow got roped into helping her as the only available person in the Manor and he will deny that he enjoyed it.
Damian is the little brother she always wanted and she is more tolerable compared to his brothers. There is also the fact that she trusts him with the kwamis and deep down, he feels super-honoured. (I just love older sister!Mari)
Tim and her being insomniac/coffee buddies. There has been many many interventions to stop this.
I get that Marinette is this selfless person and loves making people happy but she has siblings now and them eating the stuff she made for herself to enjoy, should get on her nerves after a while.
She makes a box with booby-traps in which she puts in her cookies and food.
There are many different layers of traps because this is the Batfam and each of them is non-lethal and more ridiculous.
Okay, I once read a fic about Marinette making a bear-trap style box to hide the Miracle Box so this box is also like that but kept for food. (Traps and Sneaks by quicksilversquared)
Someone (I vote a hungry Dick or Jason, maybe a suspicious Bruce) made a mistake of putting their hand into the box and the first trap activated.
Screams filled the house.
Everyone came down including Marinette.
Bruce asked, “Who did this?”
“It was me.”
“Why?”
“They kept eating the cookies.”
“There are other ways to stop them from doing that you know like a ‘Do Not Touch’ sign not a death trap box.”
“They are non-lethal.”
Bruce locked it away but Tim later stole it to tweak it and store his coffee. ------ (Part 4)

The mad laughter rung out into the night sky as the purple Lamborghini hit corners with violently sharp turns. "Oh puddin I just love family night!~" The pale platinum blonde giggled as the man with green dyed hair licked his smiling lips. A bubble of laughter came from the back seat he turned around to see his princess looking out the small back window. "Batsy batsy batsy" Her low/high pitched giggle caused a crazy chain reaction as the bat mobile hurried to catch up. "Always ruining our fun,huh,princess?" The clown king shifted his gray-ish blue order into the mirror grinning making the scars on his face raise into a sinister smile at the look of pure chaos in his daughter's e/c eyes. "Not tonight! Not on my birthday!!" She said as she smiled reaching under the seat to pull out a Tommy gun. Climbing to the front seat sitting on her mothers lap she leaned out the passenger window. "Go back to the Rat cave your not gonna put a downer on my weekend!" Y/n yelled shooting off round towards the tires,windshield,and headlights.
The mobile didn't seem to have a scratch as as a motorcycle pulled up beside it. Slipping back in the car the younger women pouted looking at get parents. "He called his little birdie no doubt the replacements in the car." Y/n huffed as she dug around for more fire power. "Puddin we have a visitor.~" The red mask gazed at us as he lifted a forearm pistol. Shots were fired and Joker took a hard right almost like tron the motorcycle quickly turned into a ally to avoid being hit. "Sorry Princess might have to cut tonight shot." He said licking his lips as a thump came from the roof making the youngest clown snarl her eye crazed as she shot above her as the purple car swerved wildly. "YOU'RE RUINING MY BIRTHDAY,BATS!!!" Y/n cackled madly a mixture of her parents laughed till the magazine ran out.
They got to one of their warehouses where Jokers men were armed to the teeth. The clown mask had black soulless eyes and immediately fired the moment the batmobile entered. Y/n skipped out of the purple Lamborghini she got on her tippy toes and kissed her dad on the cheek. "I got the hooded punk. Can you clip the bats wings for me...a little present?!" He laughed as he armed himself with a shotgun. "Anything for my princess." The f/c sf/c female clown skipped away knowing that the motorcycle riding vigilante was hot on her tail. That's how she found herself on the roof tops jumping the gaps as heavy footfalls followed. Her loud laugh echoed as she leaped to a smaller building hiding behind a vent the moment the brown leather jacket came into view she tackled the tall man. They were both panting as a grin pulled on the clowns lips.
Y/n POV
"Caught ya,Jay bird." I giggled pulling of the helmet his apple green eyes covered by a second mask stared at me he chuckled as his hand slipped above his head in mock surrender. "Yeah you caught me,beautiful." Leaning down I kiss him my hands pushed into his cheeks my thumb running over the scarred J. We've been dating for awhile now ever since dad kidnapped the second Robin at seventeen. I was fifteen at the time and dad had me at his side as he tortured him.I was always there to stitched him up and put burn cream after shock therapy I didn't know how we got attached maybe because he wanted to rebel a little by talking to me or someone around his age saw the same if not worse shit.
Six years ago(Y/n 15 Jason 17)
"Why are you helping me?" Looking up his head was strapped down along with his arms and legs. I shrugged my shoulders I knew who he was if I wiped off the make up and temp dyed my hair I was the honor student in the same class as him. Jason Todd anyone with eyes had a thing for him,but after removing his mask it wasn't hard to piece together who the bat fam is. "I know what my dad has planned for you Jay. This is just a band-aid on a gunshot wound and might I say that's very unhelpful." This was the first I spoke to him and it wasn't long before Dad beat him to death.
Two years later.
I sat in the back of the car as Frost drove. We just left the cemetery. "Why are we doing this,n/n." He asked looking in the rear view mirror at me. I'm seventeen now my thoughts screamed at me. Why was I trying to bring him back? "Because I crazy that why!" I giggled as we grew closer to the lazapit. He was dressed in a black suit with red tie his body sunk into the water as I waited. A loud gasp drew my attention as he shot up a white streak in his hair. "Heya sleeping beauty." Looking over in shock he lowly made his way looking like a baby deer. "I'm alive,but h-how?" His green eyes looked at me. "A Ghoul owed me a few favors I just asked to use his fountain of youth." Handing him a towel and some clothes. "Sorry about the outfit,but Arkham does have one size fits all." Jason chuckled as he started to dry off.I realized why I brought him back. I was crazy about him.
Two more years later(two years ago)
Jason wanted to stay dead he didn't go back to His dad and brother after he realized that neither of them tried and save him. It was sad to see,but it brought Jason closer to me and he started to trust me and I gave trust in return. Blood coated my hands while some was on my face. Looking at Jay some was speckled on his cheeks taking the pockets square out of the mobsters coat I wiped it off he looked down at me his arm slipped around my waist pulling me closer my breath hicked. "Will you be my girlfriend,my little jester?" A large smile grew on my face as my arms went around his neck pulling him down further. "Gladly,Jay bird." I kissed him not caring if my lipstick stained his lips and he didn't seem to care either as the kiss grew more intense. We shared our first kiss at nineteen surrounded by dead bodies as sirens and the unmistakable sound of the armed batmobile. At least he's as crazy about me as I am about him.
One year ago. (Jason POV for a sec)
I came to Bruce I hate to admit it but I needed advice about the one think he knew best. Women. It was just a couple of months ago he found out I was alive and shocker he managed to drive Dicky boy to Blüdhaven to get away from him to get his own image and not just Robin. Oh and surprise surprise when out of robins he had a spare like a tire and it's name was Tim. Nevermind that I stood across from Bruce in his home main office he had a frown on his face. "You're dating someone and its serious and I didn't know about it?" He asked trying to deduct everything. "I've been dating her ever since I came back. As strange as it might sound,but I want us to be something more." That's when the billionaire playboy stood up standing just a inch shorter then myself.
"Life is short Jason and you've experienced that first hand if you feel that both of you are perfect enough to be more then go for it." Perfect wasn't realistic nothing was ever perfect my life isn't perfect her life sure as hell isn't she's the clown princess I'm a bat son. Maybe that what makes us so good together the fact that it would have never really happened any other way life is just crazy like that.
Present
Staring into those vexing green eyes always brought me back. We're both twenty-one him being older only by a couple of months. "Happy birthday,gorgeous." His voice brought me back as my smile grew. We were standing up now he held a box wrapped in my two favorite colors. "Awe you shouldn't have." I grab it and opened it a gun was inside it was red and gold revolver it looked like my moms love/hate gun,but it said King/Queen. Looking at Jay I reached to hug him when suddenly he dropped to one knee pulling out a box with a beautiful f/c ring and ruby gem. "This feels over due. You took care of me when I was considered enemy number one. You brought me back from the grave when my own family didn't try. And this might sound stupid,but I had a crush on you in middle school you were one of the only people that didn't give me pity after Bruce adopted a street kid." He licked his lips as he gave of a small smile. "Together we are far from perfect, but we are good. You complete me...Y/n M/n Napier become my queen?" My eyes glossed over with tears my make up running down the pale foundation. "Oh my god of course!!!" I jumped into his arms hugging him tightly before letting him slip on the ring. "I love you." "I love you more crazy." I chuckle it sounded watery in my throat. "If I'm crazy then that makes two of us. You wanted to marry me." Yep we're both batshit crazy.

The best of friends pt3
Peter Parker x Stark!reader
Summary: So it turns out that you do have other friends. Who would’ve guessed?
A/n: Hello! So.. because i don’t feel like writing the whole fight scene, the events of homecoming already happened before the actual dance and Liz is moving after the school year ends.
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Am I dreaming or is that you Jason Todd?”
“Yeah its me, don’t cream your pants.”
You laugh, running to embrace your friend, and he catches you spinning you around then putting you down.
“What are you doing here?” You ask breathlessly, “Doesn’t your dad hate leaving Gotham?”
“Well he had a meeting with your dad today, so we made him bring us.”
“Ohh, so that’s the meeting dad didn’t want to go to” You think.
“You’re brothers are here?” You look around for the boys, but not seeing any.
Jason laughs, “Just Tim and Damian, I kind of ditched them at the Tower, I think I would’ve gone crazy if I stayed another second.”
“Aw, were you expecting me to be there?” You tease, grinning wide as the boy turned a light shade of red.
“Oh please, if you were there I think I’d die of boredom” He teases back, a matching grin growing on his face. But before you can answer back you hear Mj shout at you.
“Y/n! Are you gonna keep flirting or can we go on some rides?”
“Yeah Iron baby, are you gonna keep flirting?”
You roll your eyes at the nickname, despite your protests you know he’s not going to stop calling you that.
“Hey you’re not here with anyone are you?” “Um no why?”
You grab his hand and pull him towards Mj and Ned, who were looking at the both of you in shock.
“You’re Jason Todd..” Ned says, surprised to see him here.
“Uh..hi” Jason responds, not knowing what to say.
“Jay and I are friends” You say, “ We hang out at the galas and judge people.”
Jason laughs, “That is not what we do.”
“Oh? So then why do you mean mug people from the corner of the room?”
Mj and Ned make eye contact, having a silent conversation as you and Jason banter.
“So, you’re one of Y/n’s ‘friends that don’t live in the city’?” Mj asks, eyeing Jason and you.
He slings and arm on your shoulders, “ Is that what you call us Y/n?” He turns to Mj to respond but before he can answer Peter and Liz finally make an appearance.
“Oh so you two finally decided to grace us with your presence?” Mj drawls
“Sorry guys, I really wanted this Spiderman plush and Peter was trying to win it for me” Liz says with a giggle. Peter blushes, not taking his eyes off Liz.
You frown at the sight. Frustration growing in your head, this was supposed to be your day with Peter. And now it was ruined.
“You spent over an hour trying to win a little doll?” You said bitterly, making everyone stare at you.
“Ah come on iron baby, we all know those games are rigged.” Jason says from beside you. You tear your eyes away from Peter and Liz, “Rigged or not, I bet I can win a prize before you, Jay-Bird”
“Oh is that a bet?” “Um yeah, I literally just said that.” “Okay fine!”
Then you and Jason are off, running towards the nearest booth that gives out prizes.
“Umm, who was that?” Peter asking, looking in the direction you ran off.
“That was Jason Todd” Liz responds, “ You know, Bruce Wayne's son.”
“What was he doing with his arm around Y/n?” he asks with a frown.
“Well apparently they’re friends, he just showed up. We didn’t even notice him until we saw him spinning Y/n around like a washing machine.” Ned says with a laugh.
“What, so they’re like...close?” Peter asks. Mj and Ned look at each other.
“Um I guess...” Ned says hesitantly.
“Well, I for one, haven’t heard Y/n talk as much as she has been now.” Mj says, a knowing look on her face. Peter made a face, not understanding what Mj was talking about.
“That's true” Liz adds in, “She’s pretty quiet, it’s kinda weird.”
“Well to be fair you two haven’t been exactly talking to her.” Ned defending you, “ She opened up quite a bit after she got comfortable.”
“Yeah, besides, Peter is the one who she knows the best, I wouldn’t be comfortable hanging out with people I just met.” Mj says, glancing at Peter.
Peter didn’t know how to feel. At first he was psyched to be spending time alone with Liz. He didn’t even think about how you would feel when he invited her and his friends on your shopping day. This whole day he was trying to get closer to Liz, he forgot that you hardly knew Ned and Mj.  But it was okay, you gained two new friends, and now Peter has a chance with Liz.
He looked at Liz,
“She looks so pretty” He thinks, but deep in his mind, a voice kept bringing up an image of your face.
“Oh shoot” Liz says, “ Hey guys, my mom is here to pick me up.”
“I’ll walk you to the car!” Peter shouts, startling Mj and Ned.
‘Okay thanks Pete!” Liz says, wrapping an arm around his. Peter turns back to Ned and Mj with a grin.
Ned winks back and Mj just rolls her eyes, going to find you and Jason.
As Peter and Liz walk, he starts to get nervous. This whole day he has been alone with her, but now...now he has to leave an impression.
“I had a lot-” “It was really coo-”
The two laugh
“You go first” Peter says.
“It was really cool of you to invite me, I had a great time.” Liz says with a smile. Peter grins, happy that she had a good time with him. and his friends.
“Yeah? I’m glad, I had fun too.”
They finally make it to the parking lot where Liz’s mother is waiting.  Liz’s face suddenly looks nervous.
“Hey Peter,” Liz turns to Peter, “ Do you have a date to homecoming?”
Peters breath hitches, “Um..no-no why?”
“Well, I was wondering if you wanted to come with me?”
He...he isn’t as excited as he thought he’d be. In fact, this was kind of anti-climatic.
“Y-yeah, of course!” Peter says forcing enthusiasm.  Liz’s face brightens and she smiles, pulling Peter into a hug.
“Awesome! I’ll text you with the details later?” She asks, pulling away to get into the car.
“That sounds great” Then without warning, Liz grabs Peters face and gives him a quick peck.
“I’ll see you later Peter Parker.” and with that, she hopped into her mom's car and drove away. Peter stood there, hand on his mouth looking at the spot Liz stood.
For some reason..he didn’t feel as happy as he should’ve.
“What is wrong with me?” He asked himself. He shakes his head and turns around. Ready to walk back to where he last saw his friends.
Turns out, they were all at a booth near the parking lot. And saw the whole thing.
“Dude!” Ned said running up to Peter, “Liz Allen just kissed you! You’re going to HOMECOMING with Liz Allen!”
“Yeah..I am” Peter says, forcing excitement for his friend,” I can’t believe it.”
“Dude! You’ve been pining over her for YEARS! “ Ned shouts, “ You did it!”
Meanwhile, Mj is rubbing your arm in comfort as you hold back tears. You saw everything. Peter really didn’t like you the way you thought. You felt defeated, betrayed even. All those moments...they meant nothing to him.  Every moment you held close to your heart.
“Hey, are you alright Y/n?” Jason whispers, sensing your sadness.
“um..no not really...” you whisper back, feeling a tear run down your face. Jason wipes it away before you could.
“Hey, come on lets get you something to drink.” He pulls you away from Mj with a nod. But before he could get far, Peter called out
“Y/n..are you okay?”
You don’t say anything, your back turned to him so he doesn’t see your face.
“She’s not feeling too hot, I’m gonna get some water and food in her, see if she perks up” Jason responded for you, wrapping an arm around your shoulder.
Peter looks at the arm, “I can do that” He steps closer to you but before he can touch you, you speak up.
“Don’t touch me, I want Jay to take me.”
And with that, Jason adjusts his grip on you and walks you to a food truck. Leaving behind a disheartened Peter.
You sit on a bench as Jason orders you some food. Alone, you’re able to gather your thoughts and think about what just happened.
“Did Peter really not like me? If he didn’t why did he act so flirty with me?”
It made you mad. It wasn’t fair that he made you feel special then dropped you as soon as someone else came along. He ignores you all day for her, then acts innocent? Screw that.
“Here you go, one greasy ass burger and a bottle of water. We dine like true kings.”
Jason plops down next to you, “So are you gonna tell me whats wrong or what?”
You scoff, “ Wow, you sure have a way with the ladies.”
“Whatever.” the raven haired boy rolls his eyes, “ So what’s up? Is it that Peter kid?”
You sigh and explain everything. From when you first met Peter to now. After you were done, Jason stayed quiet. Digesting what you just told him and trying to find the right words to say.
“Fuck him.” He says simply.
“What?” You say surprised at his comment.
“Fuck. Him” He repeats looking you in the eye, “ Why are you going to waste your time on someone who doesn’t want you? It’s his lose anyway.”
You stay quiet, not exactly knowing how to respond.
Two of you eat in silence, watching parents run after their children, and take in the atmosphere.
“Hey.. we never did finish our bet.” Jason says, standing up.
You look up at him, a small smile forming on your face. “No, I guess we didn’t.”
“Well come on, I don’t have all day.” He holds out his hand, refusing to look at you. You take it, interlocking your fingers.
You walk in silence, faces red but its comforting. It was nice to see this side of Jason. When the two of you see each other, you both have a this fake persona for the media. You couldn’t truly show who you really were. You only caught glimpses of each others true self when you’d sneak away from the crowds. You both hated those stupid galas Bruce threw. Your dad would force you to go so he wouldn’t be alone, and Jason had to go as Bruce Waynes son.
A match made in heaven.
“Here we are.” Jason says, releasing your hand. “Ready to get your ass handed to you?”
“Oh you wish Todd.”You scoff, walking up to the man running the booth.
“Hello little lady, three bucks for a three chances.”
You hand him the money and get the balls. It seemed simple enough, toss the balls, knock down the clowns, win the prize.
You wind your arm back, and throw the ball with all your might. You end up knocking down two out of the five clowns down. You go again, getting the other three.v
“You got a good aim little miss. What can I get for ya?”
“The Iron man please.” You hear Jason scoff from his place behind you, “ Oh, is someone a little salty he lost the bet?”
“Whatever princess, it was pure luck.”
“Luck? or years of training with an expert marksman?” You say referring to the times you trained with Clint.
“Whatever.” He says rolling his eyes.
“Aw come on Jay bird, don’t be so salty.” You coo, “ Here, something to remember me by.” You hand him the Iron man with a smirk.  He takes it with a sigh, trying to hide the smile forming on his face.
“Yeah yeah, come on let's go play that booth with the balloons.” He takes your hand, dragging you to the booth.
It turns out to be a game with water guns. You both race to make the balloon pop. Jason wins at this game
“Ha” He says turning to you with a smirk. “ Aw, come on Princess, don’t be so salty.” He turns to attendant “ yeah can i have the Red Hood, thanks”
He hands you the Red Hood doll, “ Here, something to remember me by”
You roll your eyes, “ Don’t you use my words against me.” You take the doll, looking it over, “ Hey, why the Red Hood?”
Jason freezes, as you caught him in a lie or something. “Uhh, cause...he’s from Gotham, and so am I...”
You squint at him, finding his response weird, “Um, okay?”
He looks relieved with your acceptance. Weird.
He takes your hand again and you both walk around, catching up on stuff you’ve missed in the months you haven't seen each other. While you were talking, you could’ve sworn you saw a flash of light from the corner of your eye.
Oh well.
“Hey guys, over here.”
You both turn to see Ned and Peter.
“Hey, where’s Mj?” You ask as the two boys walk up to you and Jason.
“She had to leave, her dad picked her up a few minutes ago.” Ned replied, “We were coming to look for you guys.”
“Oh, are you ready to go?” You asked, “ Is anyone picking you up Ned?”
“Nah I’m spending the night at Peters, we’re gonna watch Star Wars.” He says excitedly.
Jason snorts, and you elbow him in the stomach, “ I happen to like Star Wars very much. And even if I didn’t, don’t be a dick to my friends.”
“Sorry man, you just reminded me of my...brother, Tim. Sounds like something he’d like.” Jason says apologetically.
“I’m friends with Y/n Stark..” Ned whispered.
Peter was quiet, he hasn’t said a word since he saw you and Jason laughing together. His mood worsened when he saw your intertwined hands.
“So, you’re feeling better.” Peter states, avoiding your eyes.
“Um, yeah...guess I just needed some food in me.” You mutter. An awkward silence coming over the group.
“Hey are we going to ride the subway? It sucks going on there at night.” Ned says breaking the silence.
“Is it? I know I hated walking around at night back home.” Jason says with a frown.
“Yeah man, my mom had to work late one night and she said she saw two homeless people getting it on.”
The four of you cringe at the thought.
“I’ll call Happy” You say pulling out your phone. You walk away, letting go of Jason's hand.
The three boys are left alone, not exactly knowing what to say to each other.
“So...how do you know Y/n?” Ned asks
“Oh uh” Jason goes to say how he knows you when he stops, he noticed how Peter’s mood seemed to worsen when he saw him with you.
“Me and Y/n ditch galas together.” He says, “ We sneak into my room and...play games.”
Peters face darkens, “Play games?”
“Yeah, you know”
“No. I don’t.”
“Interesting..” Jason thinks to himself
“Like poker and shit”He replies, “ She’s shit at it, but i like seeing her get all happy when she wins so I let her.”
Peter smiles, knowing how happy you get when you win at games. Then frowns, knowing that Jason has seen you the same way he has.
“Hey, whos that?” Ned asks, “ He’s been looking at Y/N for a while now.”
Peter and Jason whip their head towards where Ned was pointing. Low and behold, there was a guy staring at you. You, too busy on your call with Happy, weren’t paying attention to your surroundings.
The guy looked like a creep. His eyes roaming your body as if you were a piece of meat. It was disgusting.  But before Peter could do anything, Jason was already striding towards you.
Now, Peter was strong, but he wasn’t too intimidating out of his suit. But jason? Jason was massive, even for an eighteen year old. He was tall, very well built, and just had this dark aura around him.
Peter didn’t like him.
Meanwhile, you were chatting to Happy about the where you were, apologizing for calling him so last minutes.
“Thanks so much Happy, I’ll see you right now.”
“Yeah yeah.” He hangs up. You chuckle putting your phone back into your purse. Looking up you see Jason striding towards you.
“Hey i just-” He cuts you off, harshly slamming his arm above your head and leaning in close.
“Theres a man staring at you.” He whispers, “ Right over there.”
You follow his gaze, seeing the man who has a frightened expression. Jason was sending a death glare his way that could have frightened Batman himself. The man scurries off without a second glance.
Jason gently thumps you on the back of your head, “See what happens when you stand there like a space cadet.”
‘Oh..I was?”
Peter and Ned walk up to the two of you
“Y/n, you have to be more aware when you’re by yourself.” Peter scolds.
“He’s right, or its going to be your own damn fault when someone kidnaps you.”
“Oh right.” You say standing up straight and alert. Jason rolls his eyes.
“We said when you’re alone.” “Right.” you say still alert.
“You don’t have to worry about it when you’re with me, you can space out whenever you want.”
“Oh? You gonna protect me Jay-bird?”
Jason just smiles, not responding as he looks away from your face.
“So, is Happy coming or what?” Peter asks rudely, taking you by surprise. He’s never talked to you like that before.
“Um..yeah he’s on his way.” You respond, “ He should be here in a few minutes.”
Peter nods. Yet another uncomfortable silence falls on the group.
You start walking to the entrance, and without a word the boys follow you.
You don’t get it, first Peter ignores you all day and now he’s mad at you? What the hell is he playing at?
“So I’m assuming you’re staying at the Tower?” You ask Jason, “ Your dad would be blowing up your phone if you weren’t.”
“I turned it off” Jason says with a smirk, “ I’m sure they’ll be alright.”
You laugh at his antics, knowing that he’s gonna get an earful when he gets back. Then. from the corner of your eye, you see Peter roll his eyes and glare at Jason.  Ugh, what a weird day.
Finally Happy, shows up. You pile into the car, a tight fit with all four of you, but you make it work.
The tension in the car is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Happy doesn’t even make any comments, he just drives to Peter’s house to drop him and Ned off. As soon as he gets there, he jumps off the car as if something bit him. Going into the building without a goodbye. Ned just awkwardly smiles and says bye, then follows Peter into the apartment.
“Okay...That was weird.” Happy says, “What happened? Usually the kid won’t shut up.”
“I have no idea. He’s just being a dick I guess.” You respond sourly. Looking out the window, signaling that you were done with the conversation.
You finally get home, exhausted physically and emotionally. As you ride the elevator, you think about today's events. So much has happened today it makes your head spin. You were,’t even paying attention when you got to your floor, Jason having to nudge you to get you to move.
“Jason.”, you hear a deep voice rumble. You look up at the sound and giggle
“Looks like you’re in trouble Jay-bird.” “Shut up, please.”
You laugh again, “It’s lovely to see you again Mr. Wayne, are you staying at the Tower tonight?”
“Hello Y/n” Bruce says, “ It seems so, seeing as my son has been missing all day and we’ve missed our check in time.” He glares at Jason.
“Aw come on Bruce, we’ll all have a sleepover, bread each other’s hair and tell secrets” You dad says coming out of nowhere. He pecks the top of your head.
“Hey kid, how was it?”
“Ugh, don’t even get me started” You say rolling your eyes, “ How was the meeting?”
“Ugh don’t even get me started.” Then he turned to Jason, “ Hey, didn’t know you were a fan.”
You laugh, knowing he’s referring to the plush you won for him. “Where’s the rest of the boys?”
“Damian fell asleep and Tim is in your fathers lab tinkering.” Bruce responds, “ I was about to head to bed.”
“Oh me too, I’ve had quite the day.” You hug your dad, “ Night pops.”
Then you turn to Jason, “ I had fun today Jay, thanks. Good night Mr. Wayne.”
And with that, you walk off to your room, desperate to shower and sleep this day away.
“So, care to explain why your phone was shut off?”
Yikes, poor Jason.
