I look around my bedroom and it's filled with things I love, my walls covered in posters and collectibles on shelves, and i think for a moment;

If I can love something so much that my bedroom is filled with the things that bring me joy, why should that mean I can't project that love onto myself and learn to love who I am?

your words don't have to be perfect

I'm a little perfectionist and basically an anxious goat. I have learned a long time ago that everything I do needs to be perfect, because otherwise it won't be good. I was convinced that those stupid irritating words in English won't ever be good because it's not my first language. I was worried that everything I write is stiff, lacks soul and is imperfect.

But the truth is that words and stories we write don't have to be perfect to make an impact. They really don't. You don't need a thorough editing to make someone cry because of that one particular scene. You don't need to structure every sentence perfectly to make people laugh because of the joke the characters throw here and there. You don't need them words to be perfect to make the fic remarkable and impact people.

There will be typos, there will be grammar mistakes, there will be sentences that read weird because you wrote them on a caffeine splurge or that second Write-A-Thon that made you lose your mind. There will be plotholes. But–it's really not that important, because the story still speaks for itself. People are still going to read it. The readers really don't care if English is not your first language, they don't care if you hadn't fixed that goddamn missing space after AO3 destroyed your formatting. Because the heart of the story remains– and if people feel how it beats, they are going to fall in love with it. That's it. It's simple.

So a note to myself– my words don't have to be perfect. They can remain little demons I need to chase at 3am; it won't change the fact that they are mine and I'm proud of them. I'm proud of every single word I wrote. That's what counts. And when I read through the comments I got on my fics, I can really see that my stories left a trace behind their words. And it's enough.

#dungeon meshi #izutsumi #marcille donato #chilchuk tims #I still stand by my tags on the Izutsumi character study piece I did in January - but I will repeat myself on a few lines here:#I *really* love this character. I love that all of the dungeon meshi crew are complicated and have difficult to love components.#But Izutsumi is a particular kind of hard to love. I foresee a lot of people being turned off by her abrasiveness and lack of teamwork.#She is very self-centered and openly goes against what the party agrees on.#She's a picky eater in a story that is 50% about eating good and healthy food!#It is in part about her growth but admittedly even *then* she remains rather true to her self-centeredness.#Even though she isn't as nice or funny or compassionate as the others...Izutsumi is still someone worth loving.#Even the more difficult people are someone worth loving.#And those people in turn are people who have something and someone they love.#She may be a girlcat but she is the most human of them all.#I hope that if you are an anime only watcher and are feeling put off by her at the moment; you'll give her a chance.#By the way: *yes* I worked very hard to draw that skateboard pose. It was worth it.#EDIT: HAPPY 500th POST OF POORLY-DRAW-MDZS!!! What a comic to commemorate the milestone with!

holding eye contact when speaking to someone. takes some practice but so so worth it <3

don't be shy about your niche interests!! even if people don't fully get it, it makes you interesting!!

remember people's names!!

accept compliments, don't go "oh noo you're too kind I'm so ugly I look awful blah blah blah" when people say something nice to you.

signature pen. Don't question it. every cool girl has a signature pen.

always look out for others, make sure no one feels left out when you hang out with a group, check up on your friends, etc etc

listen closely and think before you speak, that way you won't stumble over your words and appear more collected and calm! :)

"please" and "thank you" ALWAYS.

you don't have to be perfect at something to have fun. I'm terrible at golf (a danger to myself and others) but people don't mind and think it is cute and fun... a win-win for me lmao

dressing up? normal to you. Don't save your cute outfits for "special" days; every day is special and you deserve to look gorgeous. <3
