when you move into your new apartment, you never expect the sadness of a child to fill the dead of night. soft sobs seep through the walls that are as thin as paper, it seems. otherwise, you wouldn't wake up with heavy eyes and half the mind to silently complain about the kid crying next door. with a groan, you check the time: 11 pm. you let your head drop back into the plush of your pillows, arm draped over your eyes as a sigh slips your lips.

sure, it's normal for children to cry, you know that much, but you would give the world up if it meant that the kid shut–

the sound of a key opening a door catches your attention. is the kid's parent just now coming home from work? that is either irresponsible or a very tragic situation. either way, you swing your legs out of bed, quietly approach the wall separating you from your neighbor and press your ear against it.

such matters are none of your business. and yet, your heart breaks.

"there, there. papa is here now, buddy." satoru speaks in soft tones as he enters megumi's room and takes a seat on the edge of the bed. the mattress dips underneath his weight.

white hair is a mess, the toe around his neck loose and a couple of buttons popped open. satoru is as tired as megumi looks.

"where were you? i've waited all day for you, papa." megumi is quick to crawl into his father's arms, burying his face in satoru's chest where he sobbed quietly and refused to let go of his dad. it's likely one of those nights in which satoru would share the bed with megumi, his little bundle of joy (even though the boy is scowling most of the time).

in that moment, satoru hugs megumi a little bit tighter as if it could make up for lost time, hoping that his true feelings somehow got through to the little kid in his arms.

failure is the only thing satoru ever feared when he became a dad and he feels like he's doing a phenomenal job at neglecting his son. satoru wants to be there for megumi, for him to have a good life filled with even better memories and friends, but here he was, crying for his dad who is gone all day and night, stuck in an office that keeps him prisoner every fucking day. it's not fair, he thinks.

a father is supposed to raise his child, love and nurture it, yet..and yet..

you swear you can hear the voice of the man living next door choke up like he is on the verge of tears himself.

when satoru hears three gentle knocks in the morning, he expects the old hag to be behind the door, telling him to control his son or else she'd file a noise complaint. but instead, a pretty woman stands there, a nervous look on your face and a platter of homemade cookies in your shaky hands.

right..the new neighbor who moved in just a couple of days ago. satoru hasn't seen you around before, but you certainly are a sweet thing, looking all shy and nervous. if he didn't think you're there to complain about megumi crying last night, he'd smirk at you and maybe flirt a little bit.

"hey, uhm..i know this might be weird, but may i talk to you for a second?" your voice is soft like velvet and yet, satoru can't help but believe that your next words would be against his son. because of him.

quickly, you lift up the platter of freshly made cookies and let a smile tug at the corners of your lips. "oh yeah, i made cookies, too!"

satoru can't quite make sense of why exactly you show up at his doorstep in the morning, but you..don't look like trouble if you bring cookies. "..sure, come in."

with a nod of your head, you thank satoru and enter the surprisingly cozy home. pictures of megumi and satoru hang on the walls, shelves are filled with books, photographs and souvenirs from travels. it doesn't take a genius to see that the furniture is rather expensive and you silently wonder just how much satoru earns to be able to afford it. maybe you shouldn't touch anything. just in case.

you're ripped out of your thoughts when a wet snout sniffs you and you're greeted by two dogs, one with black fur, one with pristine white fur. just behind them stands megumi who regards you with a somewhat unimpressed look; completely different from the child you heard last night.

smiling, you offer megumi a warm cookie and kneel down to his height. he is an adorable little thing, you think to yourself. "here, have one. but don't let the dogs eat them. chocolate is bad for them, you know?"

the boy looks at his father who nods at him and finally takes the cookie. "thank you..," he mutters and is quick to hide the candy from his dogs that were already regarding him with those infamous puppy eyes. you can't help but laugh.

a smile tugged at the corners of satoru's lips at the view. affectionately, he ruffled through megumi's hair. "go play with the dogs, megumi. the adults need to talk, okay?"

negumi..pouts. "..fine.." even though he doesn't look too satisfied with his father's words, megumi calls his dogs, kuro and shiro, and goes outside in the garden.

once megumi is out of earshot, satoru's face morphs into a more serious expression. sitting down on the couch, he offers you the seat next to him, cerulean eyes stare at you over the rim of his pitch black shades. "so? what is it you wanted to talk about…?"

"[name]," you fill the gap with a kind smile on your lips, putting the platter of cookies on the coffee table. you don't quite know where to start. your concerns, your offer..it is more than just odd. a beat of silence fills the air while you fidget with your fingers, but satoru doesn't seem to mind as he allows you to gather your thoughts.

"it might sound really weird, but..i heard megumi cry last night and..," you trail off, pausing. "..it sounded like you were struggling.."

"..huh..?" satoru's eyes widen at your words. his cool exterior..it cracked.

you suddenly go on an awkward ramble, telling satoru about how megumi woke you up at 11 pm, how you heard the key in the lock and decided to listen in. "what i'm trying to say is.." a soft sigh slips your lips. "..i don't think you're doing this on purpose and if there's something, anything i can do to help.."

satoru glances outside where megumi plays with the dogs, crumbs of your cookies around his mouth and the ghost of a smile on his little features. giving his little treasure into the care of a stranger should be a no-go for any father who loved their child, but..you look like you really wanted to help with those round eyes of yours staring at him so pleadingly. if you hadn't been genuine, you wouldn't be sitting on his couch and offering your help.

a small, humorless laugh escapes satoru's throat. "megumi's mom left me right after he was born. balancing a full-time job with a kid..it makes me feel like i'm the worst father to walk this earth."

satoru took off his shades, letting you see the sky in his eyes. he pushes his messy bangs back, sighs and even though he still looks stressed, the tension in his shoulders leaves as if he shed a small part of the burden placed upon him.

"i don't think you're a bad father. just an overworked one who needs a hand." and when you say those words in a voice so warm that it rivaled honey, satoru can't help but see the light at the end of a tunnel.

at least one person knows he's trying for megumi. even if that person is a stranger, it felt..good to be seen and heard. just what are you, satoru thought. heavensent? an angel? too good to be true? maybe all of the above.

"..do you think you could watch over megumi tomorrow?"

a grin settles down on your features, crinkles the edges of your eyes and lets a little blush bloom on the apples of your cheeks. "of course!"

Of the DC comics you've read so far, what would be your top recommendations for people to check out/what have you enjoyed the most?

when i tell you i have been thinking about this all day- i have been thinking about this. all. day.

so disclaimer, as of writing this, i have only read 31 runs from start to finish and 18 arcs/events outside of those runs. on top of, everything i've read so far has been strictly robin-centric, so dick, jason, tim, and damian. (i have read all of steph's robin appearances lol, but i haven't gotten to reading material for her, like say batgirl 2009, yet.) i've also decided not to rec from any run i'm currently reading, so for example, you won't see any batman: gotham knights recs here. because i'm most well-read on the robins, i'm only going to rec for them.

also, i'm going to operate under the following assumption: you've got a basic knowledge of the robins. none of these are where i would necessarily recommend anyone start reading about the boys, but i do think they'd be pretty interesting if you're already somewhat familiar with them and don't want to commit to reading whole character backlogs. does that make sense? i hope that makes sense.

DICK GRAYSON

oh god. this one is actually so hard because he has so much great stuff, but then also i have like a love/frustrate relationship with so much of it. like for instance, i really enjoyed The New Teen Titans, but also lowkey can't stand space adventures so whenever that went down i was like 😀👍. but okay. hmmmm.

i have two preboot recs, with explanations + caveats.

devin grayson's mob!dick arc, so Nightwing 1996 #99-100, 107-117. caveats: it doesn't really get to finish playing out/wraps up weird because of editorial changes/infinite crisis. but!! it's a super interesting look at how dick handles...failure. how he values himself in light of that failure.

tomasi's run, but specifically #147-153. (listen, i love the dick and tim moments in 'freefall' but the whole eternally pregnant lady thing was too weird.) this is classic, hyper-competent dick, okay? he's such a bad-ass. and an idiot- bro literally flops his severely injured ass over the bars of his glider and rides it UNCONSCIOUS back to the batcave. i can't with him. poor alfred. anyways, he deals with two-face, always a good time. and then at the end, as a treat, he cries because bruce is dead. so fun!! what was my caveat here? oh yeah, he has a girlfriend. i don't remember her name, she serves like...very little purpose, the whole relationship is very minor/background okay, but like it was so unnecessary. he can be single, dc, it's okay.

for post re-boot, just read tom taylor's run!! it's the best thing ever!! zero complaints!!

HA. yeah, just kidding. that run is very like/frustrate for me lol. oh man i'm struggling here. it's not all bad okay, i'm just really picky, and i haven't re-read any nightwing n52 and onwards since my first foray into comics (8 months ago) so my memories of these are the foggiest and i'm not sure how i feel about all of it in light of what i've read now. yk what, i'm just going to...not rec anything. sorry!!

JASON TODD

his comics either go so hard or they're absolute ass, why is there no in between. istg, i can't figure out why writers struggle with him so much?? well. i mean, i do have theories. but you didn't ask for those!

pre-boot:

detective comics #569-574. robin!jason in the hands of writers who like him is so much fun. which, don't get me wrong, i don't flat-out hate how starlin writes him, but i think you get a more well-rounded view of jason as robin when you also see him in 'tec. jason and bruce tangle with the joker, scarecrow, + mad hatter, and all of those adventures are...idk if they were intentional foreshadowing okay, but reading those and knowing where the story goes? oof. especialllllly #574. caveat: #572 is pretty light on jason, but he is great when he's on panel!

reboot:

probably a very basic answer but rhato rebirth (2016) #1-13, annual #1. i abhorred n52 rhato so i almost skipped rhato rebirth since it was still written by lobdell, but i'm really glad i didn't. i really enjoy jason's relationship with bizarro + artemis, but especially with bizarro because i think jason struggles a lot with feeling like a doomed creation, so yk, parallels. i want to say more but i know i'll get too wrapped up in discussing jason so i'm just going to stop myself.

i actually really enjoyed task force z, too. i think about tfz #8 so much, jason is such a manipulative little shit and i love it. he's so- i can't. i can't get into this rn, it deserves its own post(s).

overall for jay, i need people to read something other than utrh/lost days/b:ul 1-6. i love those, i do, but they aren't the only good pieces of jason content!!

TIM DRAKE

MY BELOVED!!!!!!!!!! in my heart of hearts, i just want to rec his whole robin run lmao. dick was my intro, okay, he is why i decided to start reading comics, but tim, specifically his robin solo is why i'm still reading comics. hooked me fr. and young justice 1998, ugh love. but it has been a minute since i read these as well, so hmm. okay okay okay

pre-boot:

batman: prodigal. short version, tim is robin to dick's batman. super fun. there's a solid amount of dick and bruce angsting too, which, love. tim is honestly just thrilled that jpv is out of the batsuit and even happier to working with dick. very cute.

robin #46. listen. they're all superheroes okay, they all feel pressure to save people. but tim...losses get to him. the amount of times that he gets shoved to a breaking point and then...gets back up. keeps going. *screams*. anyways!! this is not tim getting back up, okay? this is him being shoved way, way down. it's so good.

teen titans 2003 #20. tim's dad has died. he shows up for his weekend at the tower anyways. he is not okay. that's it, that's the pitch. i did not like...mmm at least 80% of this run okay, but a few of the issues HIT and this was one imo.

reboot:

*deep sigh*. look. tim is not tim for like basically all of n52, although there are moments here and there were he feels like himself. i did not like his 2023 solo, the best parts of young justice 2019 imo are the character designs, (except for his drake costume, what was that omg), and i haven't read any rebirth batman/'tec yet. except for zdarsky's run. which. tim is good there! but yeah, not really a whole lot of material to work with + very limited reading experience atm.

DAMIAN WAYNE

god, i love this kid. nature vs. nurture fascinates me, and so much of his story digs into that on top of trying to figure out who he is apart from all of that. i will say, i'm not a huge talia fan and by that i mean, i have no idea who she is "supposed" to be, like i have no frame of reference for that atm, so if you are a huge talia fan these recs might not hit for you because from what i've observed from her fans she is not well portrayed a whole lot since becoming his mother? i think one of the things that is normal is dick absolutely disliking her though, which cracks me up. there's this older batman story (batman #322-335) where bruce works with talia and dick goes running to selina and i was so entertained. what were we talking about? oh! damian!

preboot:

batman and robin 2009 #10-12. damian is struggling, with a lot of things. the fact that bruce might be alive, what that means for him and dick, and his mother's puppeteering. there's this line that kills me: "can't you just love me for who i am? not what you want me to be?" and the thing that gets me, is the use of who vs. what. because he could have said, "not who you want me to be", but he doesn't

reboot:

batman: shadow war. this is post-alfred's death, and honestly, most damian stuff post city of bane is pretty juicy, but there's this specific moment in shadow war: alpha #1 that had me speechless. just like 😧 i love bruce, but that man has some of the most chronic foot-in-mouth disease. oh but fair warning, for whatever reason they don't draw dami's mask connecting?? it's so- it drives me nuts.

JUST FOR FUN

these are just two issues that i enjoy for the brother content!

nightwing 1996 #25. dick and tim's relationship makes me ILL. *ahem*. this issue is mostly just super cute and fun, (there's like 0.2 seconds of angst when tim asks dick if he ever thinks about jason 😭) and i adore it sm. fun fact, it's actually one of the first comics i ever bought!

batman 2016 #16. unfortunately, tim is not here for this, but duke is! jason and damian's interactions in the background of bruce's Very Serious Speech are excellent. bruce is so dramatic and his kids are so unserious.

what i've most enjoyed

i've enjoyed the majority of what i've read, even titles/events i wasn't particularly looking forward to but had on my tbr for whichever character. i'm going to break down most enjoyed into two catergories, arcs that i loved top to bottom and then the guilty pleasures. this is not an exhaustive list, just what immediately came to mind.

top to bottom

bruce wayne: murderer?/fugitive. shocker, ik. but it's just, it's just so frickin good. i've said before, and i'll say it again, gotham war could NEVER. this right here is peak batfamily drama. the tension? the mystery? the angst? i knew nothing going into this okay, and truth be told, when i started it i was like "oh joy. another event." because i was just trying to read the 1996 nightwing run, but i'd committed to reading in full all the events it crossed over with. but i was invested so quickly. and like, i loved how the narrative supported the possibility that bruce was the murderer, because like, you know there's no way, but the more that comes out the more damning it is, and so you're like really dying to know what actually happened and i feel like the reveal was satisfying.

batman: city of bane. i'm going to cautiously put this here, because there might have been something i didn't like but i cannot recall it for the life of me right now. something about me is i love when the heroes lose. infinity war, empire strikes back? love. and ik bruce takes back gotham, but they lose alfred, okay, they lost. i also didn't expect to like this arc, i decided to read it because i wanted to know how alfred died. and first of all, i was shocked, even though i knew it was coming because i expected it to like happen towards the end. but nope. just *snap*. and then later when bruce is back in the manor and is confronted with alfred's body and his good-bye message? oh. my. god. i was bawling. despite my penchant for sad narratives, i don't tend to cry that much, but this got to me so bad. like i had to pause because i couldn't see. amazing.

red robin. his cowl is so ugly, but i really do love the run. i see a lot of discourse about it and also a lot of...interesting fanfic takes, so i don't really talk about it a lot here because it feels like most people are kind of tired of hearing about this run, which fair. i really enjoyed it as a sequel to his solo robin run. tbh, i almost put this in the guilty pleasure catergory, because there are a couple things i don't totally love, but like if the others are 10/10, this is 9/10.

young justice 1998. i love this comic so, so much. i don't even know what to say, i get so overwhelmed with joy when i think about this comic. nothing has hit the same way with this group since either, which is a crime. i need a title with this team so badly.

guilty pleasures

these are all runs/events i know some/most? people cannot stand and i totally get why, and i have problems with them, so i'm probably never going to rec them in good conscience but also like i can't lie and say i don't like them. these are not recs, okay? okay.

robin war. is it a hot mess? yes. but there is not a whole lot of canon content out there with all the boys working together, okay? so much of that event had me banging my head into a wall, but for me, there were a handful of pearls in there. i mean honestly, if i listed out pros and cons the cons list would be way longer but those pros are very precious to me.

batman and robin: eternal. very similar reasoning overall to robin war. plus cass finally came back!! i missed her. i love robin!dick and batman content, and the kids working together. this is probably my least favorite guilty pleasure though, okay, it's on thin ice.

grayson. listen, i love janin's art sm. i'm pretty neutral about spy stuff, so like i don't engage with it a whole lot. meaning, although i've heard it's tropey af in regards to the genre, i'm not familiar enough with the genre to be like trying to dig my eyeballs out with blunt spoons at the cliche of it all. the constant sexualization of dick got old super fast, and her name may have been helena but she wasn't- my list of dislikes is lengthy. but idk, i had fun with it. and imo it does have some genuinely great moments, i love dick in the desert with the baby, the ache i felt when dick wanted to come home and couldn't get ahold of bruce, issue #12 stabs me in the heart- the dick and dami reunion? stoppppp. i feel like this run and the ric grayson era are dick's most out there lmao

Sanemi was being scolded by Himejima, the reason? Let's find out... 'Shinazugawa, I've received some complaints saying that you threatened several slayers today. May I know the reason?'

'Tsk... Those idiots are just exaggerating...'

'So, you didn't threaten them with your katana and made them run for almost 9 minutes without stopping?', Sanemi frowned, those idiots had now gotten him into trouble.

He analyzed his options, and none of them seemed to come out of it unscathed, apparently he had no choice but to tell Gyomei what had happened.

'So... You heard a group of slayers murmuring about how useless Genya is for not being able to use breaths and thus yearns to become a hashira?', Sanemi nodded. 'It's a bit hypocritical of you... You treat Genya that way too, did you forget?'

Sanemi's anger subsided, looking at the ground sadly, Gyomei was right, he didn't treat Genya well either.

The only thing that differentiated him was that he acted like that with him because he wanted to protect him, while they did it to make fun of him. 'I'll talk to him about it... Does Oyakata-Sama know what I did?'

'No, but I will try to explain the situation to you. The only condition I ask for doing this is that you treat Genya better, do you think you can fulfill it?', Sanemi nodded, said goodbye and headed off determined to look for his little brother.

It didn't take long, he found him also frustrated, could it be that he had also heard what everyone was saying about him?

'Genya...', that voice... 'Huh? Aniki-! Sorry... Wind Hashira...'

'You can call me Sanemi, there is no one here who is seeing or hearing us...', Genya's eyes widened, but he agreed to call him that. 'Sanemi, what do you want? I'm busy...'

'I want to talk to you, stop what you're doing and come here... NOW', Genya nodded and approached him.

Perhaps this has been the closest he has had with him without being treated badly or trying to hit him, he was happy. 'Genya, you know what they say is not true, right?'

'It is not? So why do you always repeat it to me...? Why are you always telling me to abandon everything...? Why it always seems like I let you down...?!', he covered his eyes and turned his back on him.

Sanemi controlled the tears that wanted to come out and approached him, turning him around so that he could stare at him and after a few seconds of looking at him, hug him.

It was too much for Genya, he hugged him tightly, thinking that perhaps it would be the last time Sanemi would hug him or treat him that way.

'It's complicated to explain... But I want you to be clear about something...', Sanemi grabbed Genya's cheeks, squeezing them while forcing him to stare at him.

'... I don't hate you, I just want the best for you... And if I ever hear someone talk shit about you again, I'll make them eat dirt and I'll make them apologize to you. You understand me?' 'I-Ius!', he replied, or at least he tried.

He let go of his cheeks, smiling internally as he watched his brother laugh and rub his cheeks. He slowly approached him from behind, hugging him again but this time falling to the floor while still hugging him.

'You're smiling?' 'N-no...', Genya isn't good at lying either.

Sanemi also smiled, taking advantage of the fact that he was hugging him to begin caressing his sides, putting more strength into his embrace when Genya seemed to begin to squirm and free himself.

'Hey, where are you planning to go?! I thought you wanted me to show you affection!', he laughed as Genya threw her head back to try and hit him. 'Y-yohohou aharehe tihicklihing mehehe!!'

'Me?! I have no idea what you're talking about! I'm just hugging you... Don't blame me for your sensitivity~'

Genya's face blushed, which encouraged Sanemi to continue, raising his hands, tickling his armpits, knowing perfectly well that Genya would catch his hands to make him leave him. Sanemi knew his brother perfectly. 'O-OKAHAHAHAY!! SAHANEHEMIHIHI!! NOHOHOT THEHEREHEHE!!'

'Where~? Come on Genya, are you going to tell me you don't like this? You trapped my hands under your armpits, so I can assume you want me to continue~'

'THAHAHAT'S NOHOHOT THE REHEAHASON!! DOHOHON'T TEHEASEHEHE ME!!', nah, Genya was too adorable to even think about stopping.

Sanemi was having fun, when was the last time he tickled his brother? Maybe years would have passed and yet, he was still that ticklish baby who always enjoyed tickling.

'Genyaaaa~' he sang, adjusting his grip so Genya wouldn't escape.

'WAHAHAIHIT!! NOHOHOT THAHAHAT!!'

'Mmmmm? What thing? THIS?!'

A raspberry was blown on Genya's neck, making him arch his back and making the blush only worse from the embarrassment he felt.

Genya's strength was not the same, he no longer even tried to escape, he knew that any attempt to do so would be useless, so he decided to conserve his strength to laugh until Sanemi considers it was enough for him. 'Awwww, have you given up yet? What's up Genya? Come on, fight me! Try to earn your freedom or else I'll keep making fun of you~ do you want that?'

'NOOOO!! I GIHIVEHEHE!! I CAHAHAHAN'T!! I'M TOHOHO TIHICKLIHIHISH!!!'

'I already knew that! Gosh is this really too much for you?',. Genya nodded and gasped when Sanemi stopped dead.

Sanemi laughed when he saw his brother curled up in a ball while trying to catch his breath, he couldn't even get close to hug him because Genya rolled over to get him away. 'D-don't do that again...'

'Are you sure you want that?', earning a small kick from Genya.

Realizing what he had done, he immediately stood up from where he was and started running away from him. Sanemi gave him a small advantage, but one thing was for sure, he had to run and catch him before Genya told Gyomei about what he had done.

Maybe Genya has achieved it... Just as maybe not, what do you think?

“Wanna Watch My Favorite Show With Me?” {Heartslabyul - Octavinelle}

Basically: would they watch ghost hunting shows with you?

Ever since I watched my first episode of ghost adventures, I've been an avid fan. I know it's not real but I just have so much fun turning out the lights and watching these ghost hunters roam around and "talk to ghosts." I have such a fun time!!!

Also I know ghosts exist in twst but when they say "it's not real" think of it as them saying that the shows aren't actually talking to ghosts/that's not how ghosts act/etc. Ghosts just being your friends kind of throws off the vibe of ghost shows but i'm just trying to have fun ok

He's got a lot of work to do, and when he has the chance to relax he doesn't want to waste it on something so obviously fabricated. He'll join you occasionally, but don't expect ghost show nights to be a regular occurrence with him.

When he does join you, he'll do his best not to scoff at the "evidence" the ghost hunters collect. He'll be interested enough in the beginning parts where they explain the history of the location, but the actual ghost hunting part has him rolling his eyes. When it's time to turn out the lights and go to bed, though, don't mention how he keeps looking over his shoulder and sticking close to you. It's just your imagination!

(And especially don't mention how Ramshackle has actual ghosts that are as nice as can be - he's had enough of your ghost nonsense for one night!)

He doesn't strike me as the type to be too interested? If you're watching it live, he'll offer to clean up after dinner while you tune in to your favorite show (as the chores are split up pretty evenly anyway.) He'll keep an ear open if he's close to the TV, but he isn't too particularly invested.

If you don't need to have the lights off, he'll do something else in the room while you watch, quietly spending time with you without actually watching. However, if the lights are off, he'll walk behind you silently and blow in your ear or down your neck just to make you shout.

If you insist, he will watch the show without complaint - just know he's intending to hold this little service over your head the next time he needs a favor (or maybe just some affection).

If it's super popular and trending right now, he's all in of course! He'd love to have an excuse to sit with you while he live-posts about the newest episode! Even if it's not popular, he'll watch it if you ask! (And maybe he can get it trending…..two birds one stone, eh?)

He actually likes ghost shows! At least, sometimes he does. He'll be just as invested as you are during the episodes that have tons of "evidence," but he might get a little bored and start fiddling on his phone (or messing with you) during the slower episodes. Cater doesn't believe in anything they're showing, but he doesn't mind a few spooks (or attempts at one).

Probably wants to do a parody version to post online. Come on!!! Ramshackle is a perfect creepy backdrop for a fake ghost show and he's already thought up fake names for everything!

Literally raises an eyebrow at you and asks "You know those shows aren't real, right?" As if you don't know! And if you didn't, way to ruin your fun!

He's the type to act like he's too good for ghost shows, as if he's graduated from cheap thrills and fun. Still, he's surprisingly easy to convince, even if he pouts the whole way through. Maybe you have to buy him a certain pastry, make super buttery popcorn, or help him with his homework first. Either way, he's not too difficult to get to cuddle up and sit for an hour to watch a bunch of ghost hunters run around looking for nothing.

He's definitely going to comment every now and then about how dumb some of the moments are, laughing at the fear on-screen, and he's certainly not above scaring you afterwards. He might even get the real ghosts in on it. If you pout, he'll just ask "What? I thought you knew it wasn't real, what's there to be scared of?"

(He won't mind if you need someone to play hero, of course!)

Part 2 of raising an eyebrow and asking, "You know those shows aren't real, right?" He actually tries to be a little nicer about it though.

Deuce is more reluctant but requires less bribes to join you, and though he gets nervous, he lets you lean on him the whole time! He's quiet the whole time too, just hanging out and cuddling while you enjoy your show…

…until you look up at him and realize he's as pale as the "ghosts" you're supposedly watching. Even if he doesn't believe in the "evidence" itself, Deuce easily falls prey to the spooky atmosphere the shows create. The green night-vision, the spooky muffled audio, the ambient music….he's clutching onto your hand by the end of the night, too terrified to leave.

Leona immediately accepts your invitation to "watch your favorite ghost hunting show with you," but just know that he heard it as an invitation to "cling to you and sleep for 45 minutes to an hour while you are sitting absolutely still and watching your show."

Honestly though it doesn't even matter, because if he was awake to be an active participant he'd be a bit of an ass about it. He'd tease you for being such a naïve little herbivore, make fun of the ghost hunter's reactions, bite playfully at you every now and again just to feel alive…

If he can't sleep or he IS awake by choice, he'll just lie sleepily on your lap or shoulder and watch with bleary eyes. You aren't sure if he's actually watching or just zoning out but it's a nice quiet moment and he thinks you're warm <3

He will lazily swipe his tail across the back of your neck or something to scare you though. Once that gets old he'll think of something else - stealthily appearing behind you, quietly leaving doors open, little things that will drive you crazy. Oh, you're scared? Ohhhh nooooo, guess you gotta stay the night now :/

He's a pretty active guy, you know? He's always bustling to and fro and this is how you wanna spend your time with him?

Ruggie is no stranger to ghost stories and haunted places, but he's also probably been in places that locals called "haunted" but were actually just run down. He's a lot more afraid of the nonchalant systemic terror people are subjected to every day, if you're asking ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But he also doesn't mind spending a little time with you watching a show he doesn't particularly care about, especially if he's got enough time to spare. (And if there's snacks!) Talk about a cheap and easy way to keep your s/o happy!

I don't think he'd be particularly interested in anything on the show, but he might like listening to the locals tell their stories. He's probably wondering if he could set up a haunted attraction of his own. How much would the producers pay to be able to film on the campus of NRC?

He'll let you have your fun and only try to pop up and scare you with a "Boo!" once. Or twice. And if he's got enough time to spare afterwards, maybe he'll tell you a few of the stories he was told as a kid.

(Don't mention how fond he looks, though, or he'll refuse to tell you the big reveal!)

Alright I gotta be honest. Would he be into it? No. Would he ever volunteer this, even if he was trying to bribe you to do something? No. BUT…can he resist when you ask him with a cute face and look up at him with the sweetest eyes you can muster? Also no…even if he pretends he's just settling something he owes you for a favor or something.

Jack doesn't watch a lot of TV, and when he does he's definitely not tuning into ghost shows, but if it makes you happy he'll go for it. He'll question why you watch this even when you can talk to real ghosts, but he also knows how to keep his dissent to himself.

After all, an hour next to you isn't too terrible a way to use his time :)

He's honored! That you want to spend time with him! (That you chose him to potentially protect you, should you get scared? Is he up to the task?) Time spent with you in a dark room all cuddled up is a daunting prospect, but also an opportunity he'd be a fool not to take. He accepts before he can even process your request, and makes sure he has the time to see you!

He knows the hijinks on screen aren't real, and you don't seem to be bothered by them - you're laughing at some of them, even - but something about the situation sets Azul on edge. Maybe he’s genuinely afraid of the ghosts, or at least the stories behind them. Maybe he’s trembling under the pressure he bestowed upon himself to be your guardian of the night. Either way, he’s frozen by the end of the show, and when you look up at him and he realizes you shifted to be leaning on his shoulder/chest and now it’s dark and quiet and just the two of you…

Azul is TERRIFIED by the end of the night. But it’s not the ghosts that did it :(

He nods politely. Of course! Anything you’d like to do, he’s happy to indulge at least once. Besides, he’d rather like to see what it is about these shows that you like so much.

Jade is fairly easy to watch shows with. He isn’t disruptive, he sits still, he doesn’t talk much (unless you do, then he’d happily listen to what you have to say), so actually watching the show is a rather uneventful affair.

But then the show is over and Jade is popping up behind you silently, running cold hands over your exposed skin and insisting it wasn’t him, etc…he considers slipping outside and tapping on your windows discreetly to give you a REAL good spook, but stops himself from crossing too many boundaries.

Just be careful. The more you let him get away with without telling him to stop, the more he’ll want to try…

Doesn’t mind unless he knows he hates the show. That solves his problem of wondering what he was doing that night!

He’d probably get bored during the first half where they interview people who work at the location and have “had experiences,” choosing to spend the time talking to you or trying to throw food into each other’s mouths or SOMETHING. If you’re really invested, he’ll try to entertain himself with his phone or something with only minimal complaints. He doesn’t want you to not see your show, especially if it’s only one episode. Shrimpy is such high maintenance…

The second half, with the actual investigation, might be different. If it’s eventful or you’re watching a show with more animated reactions, his attention might be grabbed for a few moments. He likes it better if you’re making fun of the show, watching because you’re a fan but acknowledging how ridiculous it can be. Then he’ll be right with you, making fun of the exaggerated responses and the dumb conclusions they come to trying to make “evidence”.

He likes it even better to mess with you after the show is over. It starts with cheesy attempts, like shouting at you from around the corner. You may jump a few times, but don’t think he’s done once he gets you. He doesn’t have the self-control Jade has - if the show didn’t scare you, Floyd’s upcoming antics definitely will.

I never understood why people hate on Amber and Richie's motive when it's far from the worst in the franchise, in my opinion. So here's a little rant of my opinions on all Ghostface motives. Billy Loomis: his motive literally makes no sense to me but because he's one of the original Ghostfaces, everyone puts him on a pedestal. He kills Maureen because she's sleeping with his father, Hank, causing his mother, Nancy, to leave them. Makes sense, he could have stopped there. Instead he targets Sidney for literally nothing. Just simply because she's the daughter of the woman who broke up his family. It would have made more sense to go after Sidney while Maureen was still alive to make her suffer before killing her. Therefore, making his motive one of the dumbest in the franchise for me.

Stu Macher: his motive is simple yet affective; he has none, or at least as far as we know. Most real life murderers probably don't have much of a motive either so while it's realistic it's not exactly the most creative motive but really, how creative can you really get? There's only so many reasons to want to kill someone especially when the main target is the same unproblematic person just trying to live her life in peace.

Mickey Altieri: I love Mickey but he has one of the dumbest motives in the franchise and no one says shit. He literally just wants to get caught and blame the movies. Nancy did the right thing shooting him.

Nancy Loomis: one of the better motives, as Nancy herself says, good old fashion revenge. It's the first time in the franchise that the motive is revenge (no, I don't count Billy's motive as revenge. Maybe when it came to Maureen but not Sidney) so it's a fresh motive in these movies.

Roman Bridger: another motive I particularly like. I think of his motive less revenge and more resentment. No motive is good enough to kill but his is one of the ones where you could understand how someone who's mentally unstable could snap. Being abandoned by your mother just for her to have another child she loves and cares for and then turns you away once you try to reunite with her? I'd be upset too. I mean...not enough to kill but you get my point.

Charlie Walker: another dumb motive that no one talks about. As a matter of fact, does he even have one? We know he's a "Stab" fanatic and a simp for Jill so what I get from this is he was easy to persuade because he was already a fan of the movies and a horny teenage boy. I don't think he could've given a fuck less if he got famous from it.

Jill Roberts: her motive is one of the best and aged like fine wine. In the world we live in today, some people would quite literally kill to be famous. I know some people have complaints about it but it's really not that farfetched, people are mad crazy these days and kill for the stupidest reasons.

Amber Freeman: like Charlie, I don't know if we really get a motive for Amber. Richie seems so much more passionate about the "Stab" movies and their killing spree becoming a movie then she does (he literally doesn't shut up about it and barely lets Amber give her motive or intentions.) What I got from watching the movie was that Amber was a fan of horror movies in general (she very clearly likes "Psycho," "Halloween" and "Friday The 13th") but she claims she's been obsessed ever since her parents bought Stu Macher's house, where the first murder spree took place, implying she didn't care as much before moving in. She also says her and Richie had similar ideas, not the same. I think her motive was more like Stu's and was to just kill for the fun of it. If her and Richie's motives were in fact the same, it's still a decent motive and original compared to the Ghostfaces before. If her motive was similar to Stu's, it's still a decent motive just unoriginal.

Richie Kirsch: his motive is a lot more crystal clear than Amber's. As I already mentioned above, he doesn't shut up about it. He hated the recent "Stab" movie and thought creating a new killing spree would provide new source material to make a better movie than the last. Considering how upset people in the "Scream" fandom got about this movie (and how other fandoms get with their respective franchises) just proves that his motive isn't that dumb. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if something like this happened in real life, especially when you take into consideration that these movies inspired real life murders already.

Jason Carvey: his motive wasn't great but it wasn't terrible. He was just another fanatic (which is repetitive of the last movie) wanting to continue "Richie's film" (fuck Amber, I guess...I hate how this movie down played her when she carried Richie) but since he was an opening kill, his motive probably wasn't meant to be all that great. Had he gotten further with his plan though, I wouldn't have hated it. PS: if you were expecting a Greg Bruckner paragraph, sorry but his bitch ass was killed before the plan was meant to be put into motion so therefore, he wasn't officially a Ghostface in my eyes. His motive would have been the same as Jason's anyway, as far as we know.

Wayne Bailey, Ethan Landry and Quinn Bailey: I'm going to include them all in one paragraph since their motives are all the same: good old fashion revenge. As Richie's father, brother and sister their only goal was to seek revenge on anyone who was involved in Richie's death. Nothing suggests that any of them had any additional motives. The motive itself is fine, I literally mentioned it was one of the better ones in my Nancy paragraph. The only problem I have with it is now it's become repetitive and unoriginal. It's basically just a knockoff of "Scream 2" with an extra killer. From my point of view, it's the only movie that straight up reuses a motive. To summarize: pansy ass mama's boy who's sad she abandoned him, psycho who was peer pressured, psycho who wants to get caught and taken to trial, mother seeking revenge, son who was abandoned by his mother and has resentment against his sister, simp horror fan, psycho who wants fame, horror fans who want a better installment in their favorite franchise, horror fans who want to continue the last Ghostfaces plans for a better installment in their favorite franchise and a family seeking revenge; notice how only one of these are almost exactly the same to another. (I guess Billy and Roman's could be categized as similar, being abandoned by their mothers, but they're different enough for me and Roman's motive was better and made more sense. Amber and Richie have the same or at least similar motive but because their partners in the same movie I'll allow it. Jason and Gregg's motive was meant to continue what Amber and Richie sought out to do but they were opening kills so their motive was kind of a throwaway and irrelevant anyway.)

The only complaint you have is that he sometimes acts like the older brother, which can be a little claustrophobic when it happens (e.g. chaperoning you on your date when you were teenagers, having a word with your boss when you were overlooked for a well-deserved promotion, etc). Especially when you were a strong (emotionally and mentally, at least) woman, and totally able to f9ght your own battles. Aside from his BTS members, he's good friends with Bang Chan and Minho from SKZ. Given his overprotective tendency, how does he react when he find out that some of his members + Chan and Minho have feelings for you?

“Hold on,” Jungkook said firmly, his hands up in front of him. “You both like her?”

“Yes,” Chan and Minho answered.

“And I’m supposed to decide which one of you gets to ask her out?”

“No,” Chan replied emphatically. “You have to tell us which one of us she likes more.”

“I don’t think she likes either of you.”

Chan and Minho exchanged a confused look.

“Neither of us?”

“Why would she like you?”

They looked at each other again, somewhat at a loss for words. They hung out all the time with Jungkook, and that meant, a lot of the time, with his sister, too; they all had fun together. She must like them at least a little. Surely?

“Why wouldn’t she?” Minho asked.

Jungkook stared at the two of them. Yes, they were his friends. He liked them. They were good guys. Good enough for his sister? That was where his conviction wobbled. No one was good enough for his sister.

He sat back against the sofa and considered it. She could certainly do worse. She had, in fact, already done worse. If she dated one of his best friends, he could probably far more easily keep an eye on things than if it were some other random guy. Chan and Minho were giving him a choice, too. He got to make the decision. He liked that because his sister quite clearly couldn’t make a good decision on her own. But he would have to approach it carefully; both men were competitive and he didn’t want this to ruin their friendship.

On the other hand, both men were competitive, and that could be a lot of fun.

“Ok.,” he said, sitting forward again, clapping his hands together. “Let’s do it like this. A competition.”

Both suitors pulled a face.

“JK, that sounds weird.”

“What is this, like 1700 or something? We’re not competing. We’re not trying to impress you.”

“You should be if you want me to pick you!”

“You’re not picking us! SHE is. We’re just asking if you know what HER pick is!”

“And you clearly don’t,” Minho accused, with a roll of his eyes.

“Woah woah woah...” JK’s hands were up in defence once more. “Let’s just calm down-”

“Why are we calming down?”

All three male heads turned to see the woman in question exit from her bedroom. They froze, like deer in headlights.

“Uh,” Chan began, not sure where he was going after that.

“Well, it’s-... Uh,” Jungkook stammered.

“Jungkook is wilfully misunderstanding us,” Minho explained without really explaining.

“Sounds about right,” she scoffed affectionately.

“Oi!”

“You know it’s true.”

She continued on into the kitchen area of the living space, very much still within earshot, so the guys stayed quiet, trying to make non-awkward conversation with her as she prepared a sandwich and made a coffee.

None of them had realised she was in. She was supposed to be out—at a gym session or class or something—that was why the conversation was taking place there. Jungkook was supposed to have made sure she was out.

They were figuratively holding their breath, unsure what she might have heard. Chan and Minho knew she would be furious. She was frequently furious with Jungkook and his over-protectiveness. His possessiveness. She was his sister. His older sister, at that, and took great exception to the way Jungkook acted as her keeper and protector. If she found out Chan and Minho had gone to him first, well, neither of them would ever get to date her. Or probably even speak to her ever again.

“It’s Chan, by the way,” she said as she took her plate and mug back to her bedroom.

“What?”

She paused in the doorway.

“Chan. He’s the one I like. Sorry, Minho.”

Then she winked and shut the door behind her.

Had scenario that's been stuck in my head for the past few days.

Now hear me out...Crazy Sex Cult with an all powerful Shape Shifting Eldritch God that can travel through dreams.

Truthfully, you weren't too sure about this.

You only agreed to go to this party because your friend particularly begged you and her knees to come with.

Apparently, she's been seeing this guy on and off for the pass month and has really fallen hard for him.

So, when said guy invites your friend to a party a he's hosting, of course she jumped at the chance with even a second thought.

Your friend has always been a bit of a wild party girl, so this doesn't surprise you.

However, your friend was invited under the condition that she bring a friend.

Your typically the one that drives your friend home after she gets blackout drunk at clubs, so it really shouldn't surprise you that she choose you to be her plus one.

After some back and forth with a LOT of pleading on your friends part, you finally relent and agree to go.

When you actually get to where the party is being held, you can't help but feel a little wary.

The party was taking place at a fancy vacation home that pretty far out from any large population.

When you bring this up with your friend, she simply suggests that it's to prevent any noise complaints they would get.

You notice that bunch of people had already arrived. They all looked to be around your age and were fairly normal. Many of them to busy dancing and drinking to notice your presence.

Despite your initial suspicion, everything seemed fine and you were actually starting to have fun.

However, as the night progresses, things start to become strange.

You begin to feel dizzy and your vision goes in and out of focus. You notice that your friend and a few others seemed to be in the same dazed state as you.

The next thing you remember is blacking out, only to wake up in your bed the next morning as if nothing happened.

You try to remember what happened at the party and how exactly you got home, but nothing.

You then notice a strange black tattoo on your lower abdomen. It looked like one of those succubus womb tattoo you've seen on the internet.

Of course, you freak out thinking you got drunk last night and for some reason thought it was a good idea to get a tattoo.

You tried calling your friend to see if she remembers what happened last night but just like you, she doesn't remember a thing.

In fact everything after arriving at the party is a complete blank.

You briefly mention the tattoo to her to which she laughs stating that you could no longer judge her for anything stupid she does when drunk.

After that, you both agreed that you both just got too hammered while partying and someone drove you both home.

But that does leave you with the question of how that person or people knew where you lived?

You decide not to think about that right now and tell yourself you'll call the police should something happen.

However, that night, you have rather... strange dream.

You find yourself strapped naked to a stone alter. Your hands are chained on either side of your head, while your legs are spread wide apart completely exposing you.

All around you, you see figures cloaked in black ropes standing off to the sides. Watching. Waiting.

Then, you see someone or rather something standing before you.

You couldn't quite make it out from your dark surroundings, but you do note that's it's huge, clearly towering over by a large margarine.

It looked humanoid in appearance, but with an enormous strong build. It's arms were long both ending in terrifying sharp claws and it was covered in what looked to be black fur.

You couldn't make out any facial features whatsoever, but it looked to have large horns on its head and you think you saw a tail moving in the darkness.

But none of that mattered as you suddenly felt something impossibly large and hard begin to enter you.

You could feel yourself being stretched beyond your limits as it forced its way into you...and yet...there was no pain.

The normal painful burn you'd expect from something like this, never came.

Instead all you feel is an enormous amount of pleasure as the object is pushed deeper and deeper inside you.

That pleasure only grows as it begins to move inside. You can't help yourself, but to moan out loudly as this monster takes you.

You should be afraid, disgusted, maybe even ashamed...but you're not. You can't even lie to yourself and say this doesn't feel, because it DOES.

You don't know why or how this could feel so good, but it does.

Soon, you find yourself wanting more, begging the monster to f*ck you harder, for it to shove its massive c*ck deeper inside you.

You mind is so lost in ecstasy that you can't think of anything else.

Katsuki :

He pretends to be annoyed with your weird sleeping habits since you manage to get yourself into the weirdest places and positions imaginable, but in reality he enjoys them more than he's willing to admit, to the point where he would secretly take pictures of you while asleep and stores them in a private folder on his phone before carrying you back to bed.

She's your biggest fan, and seeing her mesmerized gaze as you move gracefully during your missions makes you want to flaunt your flexibility even more, just so you could see that cute blush and bright smile of hers.

Your heat cycles used to be incredibly stressful before you two became a couple. You're extremely needy and intense, and none of your previous partners could keep up with you, that is until she became a part of your life, as you have finally met your match.

Izuku :

He is simply amazed by you, and it shows in the way his eyes sparkle each time you appear before him. He has asked you -even before you two became a couple- if it was alright to study your quirk since he finds your agility captivating, and that's how you two started training together every day after work. He has helped you develop your abilities so much since he understands your quirk as much as you do.

He's a gentle lover, even during your heat cycles when you get extremely aroused and demanding for days on end and don't mind seeing his rougher side. He has learned through observation and practice the things that stimulate and satisfy your body and uses them to pleasure you.

Ochaco :

She never really understood your sleeping habits, in fact, the only thing she feels when seeing you sound asleep is intense worry, since you're able to slumber anywhere that has a flat surface. Many people actually DON'T dislike the 2003 Astro Boy dub

SHOCKING, I KNOW.

But seriously, from what I've seen 99% of fans love the dub just as much as they love the sub, including myself, with many of us growing up with the dub version and growing a strong attachment to it especially due to it being nostalgic for many of us. I hardly ever see many complaints about it, even on the very rare videos that compare the sub and dub 99% of it is just talking about the scene and Astro and only 1% at most complaining about it for their own reasons.

Because es it does have it's issues like cutting out scenes, mostly regarding Tobio's past, but that's no one's fault as although censorship wasn't as aggressive in the 2000's as it is now they still weren't comfortable displaying much of Tobio's past which, like it or not, is pretty valid as I don't think many of us kids wanted to see a 9 year old child get hit by a car head on and die instantly with none of it being off screen. The rest of the issues though are kind of just- eh? Like they are a problem but it's not too prominent except some line changes here and there and sometimes the dub voice lines not matching up with the expressions but nothing that really badly affects it as the points still get across all the same. AND SPEAKING OF THE VOICES, OH BOY GET READY FOR THIS

Yeah there is nothing bad about either, most fans don't really care and those who do most likely jumped on a band wagon. The only difference is that Astro's voice is a tad bit rougher in the dub but people need to realize EVERY SINGLE VOICE DUB MC CHILD CHARACTER *HAD THAT VOICE* BACK THEN, ASTRO FROM ASTRO BOY SOUNDS A BIT LIKE HOW ASH FROM POKEMON SOUNDED IN THE EARLY DAYS OF POKEMON AS WELL WITH ASH'S VOICE BEING A LOT MORE ROUGHER THAN ASTRO'S. Actually they felt so similar to the point I actually had to look up the voice actor upon rewatching it because I thought they were both voiced by the same person. It was just a 2000's dubbing thing back then that always led them to have that kind of voice, I don't know why they went with that but the shows were successful and I loved them so I guess it worked either way. The point is, almost no one here gets their pants in a twist about it and you shouldn't either, because, fun fact, IT DOESN'T *MATTER*, you wanna know why? Because it's still ASTRO. The changes never affected his character and I know that because upon growing up with the dub he was still the same innocent, lovable, caring robot we all know and I saw him as such the same way people saw him as in the sub. Because despite it's minor flaws it was still Astro with every action, words, and lessons that he took, spoke, and learned. SO WATCH WHAT YOU WANNA WATCH AND LIKE WHAT YOU WANNA LIKE, THE DUB IS GREAT AND SO IS THE SUB, EITHER WAY HE IS STILL ASTRO ALL THE SAME AND IT DOESN'T AFFECT HIS CHARCTER AT ALL. To leave you on an important lesson, don't jump on a bandwagon when introducing yourself to new shows that involve sub and dub and instead watch one and take a look at the other and form your own opinions on them, we are all chill and welcoming so there is no ripping eachother's faces off about it here, trust me this is not the My Hero Academia fandom, you are safe.

Thank you for typing all that out!!!! I was like they had beef??? But it makes sense. I was listening to Casey on the gypsy tale podcast, he mentioned how he was envious of Marc/Vale who had no fear of the track. Makes sense that Marc - the limit of the bike is when I crash - and him would clash even if it wasn't malicious or personal.

(about this) haha no problem! and yeah for sure I don't think it's anything particularly malicious and it's not even BEEF as much as a low-level grudge, the kind of thing that naturally bubbles up when you have athletes' egos existing within a team structure. though I do think the stuff you mention (ie marc's approach to the sport) is something that never did become much of an issue between the two of them, but only because... well they weren't on-track rivals

ofc that's one of motogp's biggest 'what ifs' - what if we'd actually seen casey and marc compete - so none of this is particularly original, but, look, it's a fun one to discuss! casey's for the most part been pretty schtum about marc's actual races and various controversies, but has on occasion mentioned not necessarily being the biggest fan of marc's approach, eg (from 2013):

the "humiliate them" bit is most interesting to me - does feel a similar vibe to some of his complaints about valentino's propensity for mind games. the implications of marc wanting to humiliate opponents would be that for marc, it's not just about just wanting to win, it's about what effect he's having on rivals, about wanting to mess with them

so I - like everyone else - can only IMAGINE what it would've been like if casey had actually had to live the full marc marquez experience. it's a respectful relationship irl because it's a rivalry that never actually got to play out, so casey doesn't have any real motivation to criticise marc much beyond low stakes honda hijinks. and marc probably would have enjoyed getting the chance to race casey, but from casey's side? eh

obviously casey's issues with valentino's riding standards are pretty well-documented (as well as his issues with other rivals, including a younger jorge) (and various somewhat less significant figures, like him and his buddy in 125cc giving alex de angelis the truly terrible nickname of 'alex dangerous'. casey please). marc is relentlessly aggressive in a way casey would not have enjoyed at all, and would've also objected to on grounds of principle. the fearlessness thing you mention from that very very long podcast episode is interesting to me, because yes casey would have liked to emulate that in some ways... but he does also have his issues with riders who ride without fear to the extent that they don't care about their own safety. from his autobiography, explaining his increasing disillusionment with MotoGP:

The most fitting tribute to [Simoncelli's] memory shouldn't have been a plaque by the side of the track where he lost his life, but a real change in the way riders respect each other and respect the limits. Unfortunately, I don't feel that this happened. I have always been very aware of what can happen in this sport, which is why I have always shown respect to my fellow racers. You might not like the person next to you on the grid but you have to be aware that if an accident happens, anyone can be hurt or killed. Sometimes young riders are so desperate to win that they forget what's most important. They get built up so much that they start to believe the hype, they feel invincible. Nobody is, especially in bike racing. And if a rider doesn't care about his own safety then it stands to reason he doesn't care about anybody else's either. Don't get me wrong, MotoGP is as safe as it has ever been in terms of the gravel traps, circuit layouts and rider equipments, but the fact that certain riders were still putting others at risk even after Marco's death bothered me a lot.

which, yup, can't see casey being a fan of marc. he's got some very ironclad beliefs when it comes to riding standards and the importance of rivals respecting each other and what that looks like on track in terms of hard racing - it's just an outlook and approach that would always have clashed with marc's. (also, yeah, like casey admits, it does just scare him! laguna seca 2008 wasn't fun for him because he was worried about his safety! which is entirely understandable, but I can't imagine if that's the case he'd feel particularly comfortable or indeed safe racing marc marquez.) on marc's side, even in 2013 he was pretty good at shrugging off these kind of critiques from his rivals, including ofc from dani and especially jorge that year. so maybe it'd be mostly one-way antipathy, but probably not all that pleasant for anyone involved. livio suppo said back in 2020 that casey would've suffered a lot from marc's personality, and also in 2023 said this:

I don't really agree with suppo about 2008 and it does lean into the frustrating trope (which casey also chafed against in his autobiography) that seeks to explain all of casey's struggles and defeats by what was going on in his head. like, I do think he would've done a good job fighting marc! he would've won plenty of their duels, even when they were fighting wheel-to-wheel! he did say repeatedly after laguna seca 2008 that if something like that happened again, he wouldn't roll over for valentino (unfortunately we never really had the chance to properly test this but oh well)! he just wouldn't have enjoyed it, which is kinda why he retired in the first place

basically, they respect each other just fine because they never had the chance to fight on track. if they HAD fought on track, things would've inevitably been more fraught, not least because of their very different approaches to racing, as well as how by marc's own admission he's an asshole as a teammate. that difference in approaches is where the 'fearlessness' of marc comes in, and not in a good way for that relationship. who knows how it would have all turned out

just one more thing - marc is actually asked about the "he wants to humiliate them" quote in a presser, but unfortunately the question is formulated in a kinda messy way so marc doesn't really end up directly addressing the comments. though my guess is at least one person present understood exactly what casey was getting at:

This is a repost! Here’s a short explanation why

Diluc: drinks and fond smiles

Another hot day, where the sun is burning down and your skin is nothing but sweaty and sticky. Usually the isolation of the Dawn Winery was good enough for it to be cool inside of your shared home, but both of you were currently working. And it is quite certain that you were dog tired.

Still you decided to check up on your partner at the tavern, since it was the late afternoon now and he’d surely be tired as well. Your predictions were correct as you were welcomed with a droopy, grumpy Diluc, who had been dealing with the weirdest people for the whole day.

As you were telling each other about your respective days, you noticed Diluc make a drink, solely focusing on the movement, rather than the ingredients, until he finally poured the beverage and set it down in front of you. After confirming, that no one was looking, he intertwined his fingers with yours to kiss the back of your hand lovingly.

“Would you mind telling me if this flavour profile is to your liking? I made it specifically with you in mind, my love.”

Kaeya: warm menace

Hot. No, you did not mean Kaeya this time, you meant the weather for it was currently scorching hot and you were at home, melting away on the couch. Even though you’d finished working early to avoid the sun, it was still way too hot to your liking.

And there he comes your knight in a shining armour: the eyepatch guy

Having Kaeya around can have its quirks, yes you did love each other dearly, but truthfully it was especially beneficial for him to return early, so you two could freeze beverages and cool down. (Shaved ice maker go!)

Primarily, he wanted to be a menace and plop directly onto you though. And so he did. Therefore you were currently the mattress of the famous cavalry captain of Mondstadt, him clearly not intending to move any time soon, despite your complaints.

A small smirk playing on his lips, he nudged his nose with yours playfully before kissing your face, the pad of his thumb brushing over your cheekbone.

“What’s wrong? Can’t handle the warmth, darling?”

Childe: sandcastles and sirens

On hot summer days like these, he likes to bring you to the beach to cool down and have some relaxing time with his sweetheart. Or to terrorise you and splash water into your face (:

Either way he enjoys it a lot, may it be firmly holding onto you and jumping into the cold water or just laying on the blanket you two brought and eat. Since the housewife he does enjoy cooking, he made sure to include your favourite snacks and dishes for your beach picnic.

At some point he does make a sandcastle, which would rather share similarities with a blobfish with no face than an actual palace. Despite you lovingly poking fun at his miserable construction, he continued to stray on the beach to hunt for seashells he could decorate his art piece with.

Finally, when he was done and satisfied with his work, he returned to your spot to plop down, halfway lying on top of you. Littering your shoulder and neck with small kisses, as he snuggled his face into the crook of your neck. Gently slipping a small seashell into the hand, that wasn’t playing with his hair, you felt him smile into your skin.

“A seashell for my enchanting siren.”

Zhongli: nightly affections ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Summer. The season of popsicles, cold drinks and watermelon. Zhongli did enjoy summer to a certain extent, the sun shining down for him to bask in, the joyous laughter of people enjoying themselves. What none of you two enjoyed is that you were both too sticky and sweaty on some days, that you couldn’t quite cuddle that well. That’s a hate crime.

He’s not the clingiest and neediest partner, but he does like having the option to indulge in those affections whenever he’d want to. He still showers you with love of course, but he couldn’t quite do his autumn hugs justice.

So you two usually just settle for leaning onto each other, maybe his head on your lap for you to play with his hair or you laying your head on his stomach while he reads aloud for you. Still there’s a small adventurous side in this old gentleman, so he does like to go on random strolls at night. Often times twirling you around in he middle of your walk, finally pulling into his arms, now that the temperature showed mercy. For him, the sound of you laughter was worth breaking his usual stoic character ever so often, now gazing lovingly at you in his embrace.

“My beloved, my lovely spouse, shining so brightly for the sun and moon will forever envy your beauty.”

2024 media thread part JANUARY :D

1st January: Super Mario Bros. Movie

finally got around to watching this, and okay, yeah- it was a lot better than i expected. a good time! really fun to watch! it definitely felt like actual fans worked on it, or at the very least, that Nintendo kept a real close eye during production. loooved the little nods to canon; when Pauline showed up, i literally paused to excitedly tell my mom about who that was, haha. also LOVED the difference uses of power ups!! tanuki suit AND cat suit my beloved :]

Bowser was definitely the high point, like!! that IS my little guy!! Jack Black did SUCH a good job, and man. the ANIMATION. the bits where he got all snarly was SO good. would have loved to watch those on the big screen. Luigi was also very Luigi, which i always appreciate. Mario was... eh? not bad! Chris Pine did an okay job, and while i would have preferred something more, it was... fine. and Donkey Kong was a whole lot of fun, actually? tempted to check out his games, because i did really like him

meanwhile, my BIG BIG complaint, is Peach. like, holy fuck. they absolutely butchered my girl! like, yes- as characters, none of them have a lot of personality to work with, but they're archetypes. you're supposed to push within the archetypes- they even did this with Mario. but they just- they completely abandoned who Peach is, as a character. straight up just wrote Daisy instead, which is. really frustrating! and i dislike it A LOT, because there is so much you can do with Peach as a character, and they didn't even try

but otherwise- fun movie! could have been so much worse!

4th January: Outpath

really relaxing and chill game, where you basically just run around collecting resources, upgrading stuff, and unlocking more island. definitely one of those 'put on some music and zone out for a bit' games. that is not a negative

really liked the graphics, and it was fun to just- run around? you get more movement upgrades as you go along, and it actually plays really nicely. also some tasty environmental sounds

i'm not a 100% done with it yet, but i hit the end credits, so. not sure i'll get all the achievements, but i do intent to go back and clean up some loose ends. also really like how it incorporates some idle elements, like you still getting credits(/money) while being offline. makes it more rewarding to open it up and vibe for a bit

i do think there was an.. attempt? at some kind of story, but i entirely missed it, so i guess that's my only real critic. it was just a fun chill game to sink like, 25 hours into lol

9th January: Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight

i've had this game in my library for literally who knows how long, and it's one i've always been aware of, since it was really big back in the day, and oh my god. oh my god, why did i not play this sooner?

it's rather short, took me around 7 hours, but it just- it nails what it wants to be, this tough little game with so much moodiness and tragedy, and i'm so enamoured. i tried playing the original one before this, but it wasn't quite hitting, but man. this one just. it hit so fucking good

there's so many layers here, so many unspoken little details. so so much tragedy you could really dig your fingers into, and as a Tragedy Enjoyer, ooooh it hits good

i'm considering either replaying it myself, or watching a LP and then writing some fic, because there is a little thing hiding here, something i want to put words to. it's good, can't wait to check out the rest, and the upcoming sequel/finale. also, the game is gorgeous

18th January: Switch OVA

so Switch is a two episode long 'adaptation' of a manga, and while it very much just drops you into the middle of the plot, it- works? like, i personally wasn't missing anything, and the case they chose to adapt works really well as a teaser for the manga, because i did leave it considering checking out the manga, and while the whole thing isn't anything to write home about, i did enjoy myself

(i also watched the whole thing on my phone, curled up in bed, so that did maybe increase my enjoyment. it was cozy! what can i say!)

funnily enough, i did walk into this thinking it was a yaoi, and while i don't think it is, there really was nothing to disprove me of this assumption. there's literally a moment where protag guy gets told 'he likes' the other protag guy, and he bLUSHES. LIKE. STRAIGHT OUT OF A YAOI FR FR

all in all, it was honestly just a really cozy time. it wasn't long enough to lose my interest, and there was enough in it to keep it- and i really like the design of the red haired guy! very simple, but really appealing too. i genuinely might check out the manga, my interest is definitely piqued
