Could you give us some good dadbastian fanfic? Oneshots, incomplete, completed anything really, i am starved and need some more food other than coattails(which i love very much!)
Hey there, thanks so much for being a Coattails reader! As an aside, I'm not sure if you're totally caught up or not, but sorry I don't yet have an idea of when the next part will be ready. I only have 4k words written so far and chapter 33 is looking to be another doozy... I'll be sure to keep everyone informed of when we're close ๐ซก
Anyway, I have no idea if you're like me when it comes to Dadbastian, but I'm pretty particular about what I enjoy. Angst has to play a factor in some form, for instance. I also don't like it when Ciel and Seb are too sappy with each other without it being earned. There's a reason Coattails had like 250k words of build-up before Sebastian actually accepted his Dadbastian fate.
With that in mind, here are my suggestions!
bottom of the deep blue sea by sunflowergiorno
Easily one of my favorite Dadbastian fics, hands down. I remember going positively bananas waiting for the second part to come out. It's so gentle and tender and honest. It perfectly showcases the thoughts and feelings I'd hoped for Sebastian and Ciel to have to approach after their experience on the Campania.
Words, Strings, and Butterfly Wings by Kimberly_T
I love this story so dearly, and it's tragic that it's unfinished. This fic is a retelling of the Circus Arc, in which Ciel and Sebastian must actually pretend to be father and son, sometimes with hilarious results, other times endearing. A major inspiration behind Coattails for sure. I would die for Falco, an original character who to me is more endearing than any of the canon Noah's Ark cast members.
Dadbastian Week Drabbles by HeartLeftovers
Nobody does angst like HeartLeftovers, and you'll drink up her poetic language like nectar. My personal favorite is Midnight, but read Magnifying Glass and Domesticated Wolf first for the full impact of the final stanza.
Sensorium by OtherCat
Short but sweet. A story about how Sebastian helps Ciel at the beginning of the contract to stop thinking like a boy trapped in a cage. I love that it shows that Sebastian couldn't possibly have frightened Ciel into becoming an earl: he had to actually coax Ciel towards it.
Singing in the Silence by Kimberly_T
Another one from Kimberly_T. Not strictly Dadbastian, but a story about the servants learning how to help Ciel with his PTSD in their very own inventive and roundabout way. Heart-meltingly adorable. It's canon to me, dammit.
Front Page News by TheArchaeologist
Also not strictly Dadbastian (in fact, Ciel is incapacitated the whole time), but I only need the slightest reason to suggest this Phantomfam-centric fic. Mey-Rin's voice is especially realized. Even though you already know Sebastian, Snake, and Ciel will make it back from the Campania in one piece, you feel the Pham's worry palpably.

Can you tell yet that I love Kimberly_T? Admittedly, this one I haven't read with perfect thoroughness, but I can tell you that the Dadbastian moments are peak. Ciel hires a new maid, a woman who nearly killed him when he invaded a brothel on a mission for the Queen. Please mind that this involves some discussions of SA. Also mind that the story largely centers around an original character, but no one does OCs like Kimberly.

So In Love And Yet Nothing To Talk About by rosesofenvy (the visuals! The ideas! Soulmates! Augh! I loved this one so very much it was creative and excellent. Also complete!)
I have read some other ones that I also enjoyed tho too so Iโll put those below.
no refunds by bobtheacorn (this one is incomplete but I loved the honest approach to the big feelings first love can have at a younger age. I donโt know how else to describe it other than me reading it and going โoh yes thatโs so similar to things I felt when I was that age and liking someone who liked me backโ but it CAN get a little heavy at points. Most specifically in the last updated chapter so do with that what you will) They have a collection, actually, for these two so Iโll plop that here as well
When Worlds Collide by celestiangel (this one was very cute, I enjoyed it! It is also complete.
Thatโs all I have rn. There are a few others Iโve opened up to read but just havenโt started yet, alas. Iโve been writing a lot for myself instead xD Hope you like these!

I'm craving a fic where Tim just... does not bring up the idea of Bruce still being alive.
Not out of spite. But more hindsight. This would probably be tagged Abusive Bruce Wayne. Or just Canon Bruce Wayne. I don't want him a caricature of abuse, because there were good times but also too much bad times that the kids 'have to' get hurt either as a collateral to Bruce venting, his willful neglect, or just being the first set of balls to be dropped at the first sign of priorities being decided.
They eventually adapt to a new normal. Tim takes on a new mantle, a bitter pill to swallow but something else was more bitter so that's. That. And Tim eventually find proof which makes his intuition more reality and actually starts actively covering it up so that the JL don't return Bruce. This would be so delicious character breakdown and analysis.
Like, there's so much potential here, in this very specific time for this very specific genre.
Gotham needs Batman, Batman needs Robin, and him and his siblings need for Bruce not to be there.
Maybe he initially tried to go on his quest, but something happened where Tim stays in Gotham just a little longer and observes something in the dynamics to make everything click.

Still, Jon had been trying, in his own way, to make it up to him. There wasnโt exactly a card at the drugstore that said, โIโm sorry I berated you for six months and caused you to nearly be eaten by a swarm of worms of potentially supernatural origin,โ but heโd been trying. He brought Martin breakfast every morning, made sure the breakroom cabinets were stocked with his favorite blends of tea, and had tried to work some genuine praise into his feedback of Martinโs work. None of it was the direct apology that his conscience told him he really ought to give, but Martin had appreciated it. Or seemed to, anyway.
Jon wasnโt certain what motivated the decision he made next - whether it was guilt or spite or something else. He could, he knew, be quite petty when the situation called for it. Either way, he made up his mind then and there to prove Martin wrong. He was going to be the best fake boyfriend he could be.

Bruce and Clark get temporary amnesia, bone, get their memories back, and then deal with FEELINGS. I remember reading an update to this fic after a 11+ hour car drive home. It was a balm to my SOUL.
Rumor Has It by rotasha - Friends to lovers and pining! Bruce comes out as bi and Clark has to deal with this, especially since he's been pining for Bruce for a while
how to perform an exorcism (five easy steps!) by soetry - Clark confesses his love to Bruce. This obviously means that Clark is possessed.

Medieval Zosan AU... of a sort
So there's this beautiful series titled "Medival Zosan AU" by @hazel-athena and I loved it!
...only I suspect the author was actually talking about "medieval Europe aesthetic" when they wrote their fic and not...well... whatever my brain came up with.
Anyway! have some sketches of my "medieval au fashion except it's anything BUT medieval europe"
And look, my brain did take a weird turn there, but it WORKS.
You can really read that fic and add whatever landscape you want: medieval mongolia? works. Medieval japan? piece of cake. Idia in the 9th century? sure, why not... and it will work, cause that story is very versatile!
Some other ideas I got while reading it:
I feel Shimotsuki's color is green so maybe the offical garbs for all palace workers (Nami and Usopp included) are green?
...then again brown is an easier color to dye for the general population (and maybe for kitchen staff too!)
I would love for Sanji to have black boots, but I seem to remember black dye ix very difficult to make and thus kinda expensive, so maybe he does have black boots but a regular cook's uniform would have some other color....mmh probably not even boots, just simpel shoes.
...not sandals tho, I imagine the weather in that country leans towards "cold"
anyway, if you're new in the fandom like me and you like Zosan I recommend this series! is really cool! ;D

I wanted to put together a rec list of Harry/Tom fics with a core focus on horcruxes outside of Diary Tom (the most popular horcrux) and Voldemort himself. Please enjoy these 22 fics that feature one of Tom's horcruxes and their special relationship with Harry.
Thereโs a ton of interesting variation that can be explored within a Harry and horcrux Tom ship โ from where the horcruxes are located and when Harry can conceivably meet them in canon (for example, the Cup horcrux is harder to access than the others); to what age they were made by Voldemort and how that would shape their personalities and interactions with Harry; to the different magical properties that they might embody, depending on the vessel that was chosen.
