How often do the characters leave NRC?
Ik the game is focused on the school, but I feel like at least some of them would have a life outside of school
HEARTSLABYUL
Duce- it was mentioned he left to the beach to let things out before, so obviously he leaves the campus sometimes. Since he’s trying to be an honor student I can’t imagine he’d go out too much for fun, but he will to clear his head or with his friends
Ace- he’d get way to pent up if he was in the school all the time. He definitely goes out occasionally and invites the first years
Cater- All. The. Time. Both as a way to distract himself and also to keep up with the outside world.
Trey- occasionally, but mainly to get ingredients or things to decorate for unbirthday parties. And once a month he gets bulk dental supplies
Riddle- other than mandatory vaccinations, probably not. Especially early game. As he grows he might go out with Trey and Cater from time to time. But never on his own
SAVANACLAW
Jack- he leaves now and then, but not too often. During the winters he goes home for some weekends to spend time with his family and snowboard at his favorite places
Ruggie- iirc it’s mentioned he has multiple jobs. If he leaves more often than not it’s to work or find work. That and to go to a local donut shop
Leona-he can canonically drive, and also is 20. He’s not spending all his time at NRC. He’s got friends outside he meets with once or twice a week and drives Ruggie to his jobs if he can’t get the twst version of an Uber
OCTAVINELLE
Jade- he’s apart of the mountain appreciation club, so he probably goes hiking at least three times a week. He might go into a nearby town if Azul asks him to, but I can’t imagine he leaves too often
Floyd- probably joins Jade on some of his hikes and also goes into town when Azul asks. He also travels to the beach/ocean whenever he’s feeling homesick
Azul- he rarely leaves school, and if he does it’s to check up on business opportunities
SCARABIA
kalim- all the time. He takes people out, he explores the areas close by, he single handedly pays the bills for the local party barn with all of the supplies he gets. Out of anyone in the music club I think he tries to get a bunch of gigs for them, but he rarely follows through
Jamil- usually if he’s out it’s to drag kalim back to school. He’s just too busy that he doesn’t really have time for himself, especially early game. Eventually I like to think he gets out of working for kalim, and so he has a lot more time on his hands he’s not used to having. Then, he’d probably go out sometimes to go to coffee shops alone and finds a dance studio where he can destress
POMEFIORE
Epel- under Vil’s eye, probably not. Might be forced to go to ulta once or twice or on little “field trips” to learn. Mainly performances and shows
Rook- probably leaves to hunt once in a while or to go to performances or follow a target.
Vil- as mentioned before, he takes Epel on little trips to educate him, but also to study/learn from other performances himself. Also, if he has a roll obviously he’ll go to do that too
IGNIHYDE
Ortho- usually follows his brother so doesn’t stray far from campus
Idia- dude he doesn’t leave his room. No way he leaves campus on his own free will
DIASOMNIA
Silver- I don’t think he’d stray too too far from malleus so I don’t see him leaving campus much
Sebek- I feel like he wouldn’t leave campus too much to stay near Malleus or Lilia
Lilia- he goes out every week at least once. He has friends outside of school and loves to learn about the area/culture outside and near school
Malleus- mainly stays on campus because of his social awkwardness/anxiety. If he finds there’s an abandoned place outside of school he’ll probably venture there once in a while
STAFF
Just as a general thing, they all probably go out and meet up and talk about life once every two months
Crowley- asshole gets out every night instead of working. He skips work and will be out during his office hours. Like he should have a life outside of work, but he doesn’t do shit at his job
Crewel- he volunteers at the dog shelter and doesn’t live on campus.
Trein- he has a three kids, so yeah. After school he leaves to go home and probably has family dinners every Friday night at local restaurants
Sam- for sure. He has lots of clients outside of the school store and needs to get his stock from somewhere, but also he has tons of friends and doesn’t live at the school

May I request one of the Twisted Earth story you made but like with the Heartslabyul students?
Twisted Earth Part Two
Summary: Heartslaybul x gn!reader. They are real, and you're the game.
Part One Part Three Part Four Part Five Part Six
Tumblr media
His mother disapproved of video games, they took away from study time. So when Cater took his phone and downloaded the game for him, he didn't open it for months.
It's the only game on his phone, and it's in a hidden folder so that when his mother searches his phone, she can't find it.
He only plays once a month, usually after Cater tells him an event is going on.  He'll heave a heavy sigh, open it for an hour or so, and not play again.
He was drawn to you. He doesn't know what it is. Maybe he's touch starved, maybe he knows his mother wouldn't approve of you if you were real, or maybe there's something about you that, deep down, makes him feel safe.
He doesn't actually have any of your cards. His only cards he has are from his initial ten pull that the game gave him. But he read through the story, and that's all he needs for now.
Tumblr media
Cater also kidnapped his phone to download the game.  He only plays while he's waiting for things in the oven to finish up. So he actually plays a lot, but in short intervals.
He thinks you'd help him with his jobs. Or maybe you wouldn't, and you'd cause more trouble. He understands it would depend on your mood. But he's along for the ride.
He drew your basic SSR in his first ten pull, and he's satisfied with that. He never plays events, because he just doesn't have time or energy for it. He can just see pictures and the stories that come with online, without having to invest the effort.
For the last unbirthday party, he made a cake loosely I spired by you and your color scheme. The only person who noticed was Cater, who smirked at him the entire time. Trey was definitely not blushing when Cater confronted him about it.
Tumblr media
The second the game was starting to look like it'd go viral, it was on Carter's phone, and his magicam. He did a thorough review, and gave it  five stars! The game devs were thrilled and reached out to him for a sponsorship. He's been regularly sponsored ever since.
He has modeled several looks based on your colors. He's doing the twisted wonderland version of Disney bounding for you. The first time he did, your voice actor reached out to him. His most viral magicam post is him and your va modeling "Disney bound" looks of a particularly popular event outfit you had.
If he's not on magicam, he's playing your game. He has all your cards, and is neglecting any character that isn't you. (Apologies to your peers, he just isn't interested) He giggles a little whenever your character greets him on the home screen. He thinks you're so sweet, he just wants to scoop you up and protect you from all the bad in the world.
Speaking of…he loves to read angst fanfiction where he comes to your rescue or cheers you up. He is definitely not crying and thinking about his own depression. His eyes are just pissing.
Having befriended the devs and your va, there's talk of having him as a VA when the anime comes out… so follow for announcements on his magicam!
Tumblr media
Thought you were hot. Downloaded the game for that reason, and that reason alone.  (Sorry guys, I love ace, but irl he's a fuck boy, and you can't change my mind)
A very casual, and secretive, player. Doesn't want anyone to know he's playing, no matter how popular or mainstream it is.
Anyone who the devs or fandom ship with you is blacklisted in his mind. He barely takes care of your cards, but those cards are never used and never looked at.
He has a body pillow of you, but it's hidden under his bed so that Deuce and his roommates can't find it. He's pretty sure they'd make fun of him if they knew (he's right, they would). When all three of his roommates are out of town, or gone home for a short holiday or something, he'll pull it out and cuddle "you".
Tumblr media
You're adorable, hard working, and so kind to those you care about. It was love at first sight for poor Deuce. Sevens, he wishes you were real.He worries his past would scare you off if you were real, though. So he's fine pretending for now.
His mom knows about his like of your character, and got him a chibi plushie of you. It sits on his desk. He's so happy to have it.
He plays a lot, but he's not very good at the battles or rhythm game elements. So he's just an average player. Nothing to write home about.
He is one of the many secret techies of NRC, so he and Idia teamed up to design an otome version of your game. He uses a pseudonym, because he would just die if anyone found out he'd worked on it.
He has half of your basic collection, and one of your event cards. He's so proud of his collection, even though it's not the best one in the world.
Wrote a fan letter to the devs. He got back a poster signed by them and all the va's. He was so happy.

December Drabbles
Prompt 20: Feast Characters: FloRid (Floyd + Riddle) ------------------------------------------------------------- Riddle took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He and Floyd had been working up to this. Actually, everyone had kind of been helping in their own ways. Trying to unlearn following rules had proved more than difficult, and more than one mental breakdown. He couldn't handle it. It was a little embarrassing honestly, he didn't want to be this way, but years of fear of falling short of expectation made it impossible to relax his standards. It had been Floyd's wording that had helped but things in a new perspective, a more manageable pill to swallow so to speak. Rules were only made because one person in authority was scared of the consequences if they were not followed. Sure, when he was a little kid, the only exposure to authority he'd ever really had had been from his mother. Then Floyd posed the question, if Riddle had some way of babysitting a younger version of himself, if he truly wouldn't give himself the freedom he wished he had. While breaking a few rules would be painful, giving himself one day where he didn't have to worry.....there was no way he would deny a child of that, even if it was himself. Thus a breakthrough had been made, where "small" rules were not broken, but modified to be less constricting to start. During finals week, Riddle allowed students to bring their own coffee if they had made it themselves, but he didn't have it served at their Unbirthday party - Cater had been especially appreciative of that. His grades even showed it, as the caffeine had proven to help him concentrate while studying. Ace and Deuce managed to get Riddle to stay at the table he finished his lunch at by asking for tutoring assistance - meaning Riddle was too distracted to get up by the time fifteen minutes had passed. The next Unbirthday they had, Trey had invited Che'nya - so much for not bringing a cat to a formal event, but how was Riddle supposed to turn him away?
Some rules still were strict. There were to be NO chestnut tarts at Unbirthday parties still. And flamingo caretakers still had to wear pink. Croquet must not be played after 5:00pm.
But the point was, he was he was getting better. He had grown a lot in a very short time, and the people closest to him had done a good job of acknowledging the effort that went into that, even Floyd. Especially Floyd. So when Floyd had asked if Riddle would be ok with him pushing his boundaries a bit, he had agreed, albeit hesitantly and a little nervously. Against his better judgement, he decided to leave himself in Floyd's hands, knowing full well any questions he asked would only be met with 'wait and see.'
He had waited. Now, in front of him he could see a wide spread of foods, the smell making his mouth water. He could only assume that this was what Christmas dinner looked like at everyone else's homes. Every dish prepared with love from his boyfriend, who had slid into the booth beside him. Floyd gave him the slightest nod, letting him know he could start serving himself.
Floyd watched rather disdainfully, though he tried to hide it, as his boyfriend mouthed the amount of calories he was estimating was in each serving of food he put on his plate. He watched as Riddle struggled to make a decision between two dishes, before gently taking the serving spoon from him and serving him a portion of each, likely larger than he was planning on having. As if the slightly panicked and angry look from his goldfishie wasn't enough, Floyd also took the liberty of swapping his heaping plate with Riddle's, though he had been cautious enough in plating to not let any of the different foods touch.
Riddle looked up at him, his entire face a light shade of pink, his brows downturned, but not angry, just upset and confused. A small pout formed on his lips as he glared up at Floyd a little.
"You know I can't eat this. This serving size is too much, and far exceeds my calorie count for the day- maybe even the week! If I were to consume this I'd-"
"Be just fine. Well, maybe not all of it, wouldn't want you to get a stomach ache, but if you ate until you were genuinely satisfied, you would be fine. You would actually be healthier than the plan your mother made you follow. Ignoring when you're hungry ain't healthy. Your body has just gotten used to burning what little you keep in reserves. You've been malnourished for a long time Riddle. You've been lied to for a long time, and conditioned to think that countin' every morsel is what's gonna keep you strong and well, but it ain't. I know you can't give that up right away. I'm not gonna ask you to do that. But just for today, just for right now....I'm askin' you to try eating whatever you want, and as much as you want. It's just you 'n I here, nobody else has to know. Please? Please, I just wanna see you try...." Floyd's expressions varied greatly during his rant, but by the end, his mismatched eyes pleaded with Riddle's stormy ones.
Riddle had to look away. While he knew, at this point, everything Floyd was saying was true, it didn't make it any easier to hear. He felt tears sting the corners of his eyes before he buried his face in his hands, sobbing softly.
Floyd instantly regretted asking something so big of him so soon, reaching around his shoulders to pull him into a hug. What he didn't expect was for Riddle to panic, forego the cutlery and take a fistful of food from the nearest dish and shove it in his own mouth in an almost barbaric manner. He was sniffling, fat tears rolling down his cheeks and his face a light red, but Floyd couldn't do anything but watch as Riddle went on his own rampage through the food he had prepared for him.
Eventually Riddle slowed down, letting Floyd rub his back gently as he wiped at his mouth with his sleeve, then whined slightly when he realized the mess he made on his clothing. Floyd couldn't help but chuckle a little, using some magic to clean his boyfriend off as he pulled him into his lap, nuzzling into his hair as Riddle finally finished the last bite of food he had.
Riddle gasped as he sobbed a bit, leaning into Floyd. "Thank you.....I-I've never....I d-don't know what-...." Riddle took another moment to recollect his thoughts as Floyd just rocked with him gently, tucking his hair away from his face and cleaning him off where he needed it. Riddle shivered a bit, accepted the glass of water Floyd gave him and took a few deep breaths to calm down as he relaxed against him more.
"Thank you....for doing all this for me...and making me feel safe....even if it was just for a few minutes where I could let go of all the fear I had...it was very liberating...and delicious." He laughed, strained and tired as he snuggled into Floyd more.
Floyd giggled a bit and pushed away the half eaten food to put away later as he kissed Riddle's temple.
"Anytime goldfishie....I love youuuu." He bumped his head affectionately against the redhead.
He very quietly mumbled back before he fell asleep, "I love you too,"

‘I’ve starred in The Archers for 20 years but could never afford my own farm’
Fame & Fortune: The BBC actor on money mistakes, theatre hecklers, and his 20-year radio stint
Tumblr media
Andrew Wincott, who plays Adam Macy on BBC Radio 4’s The Archers, joined the cast in 2003 (Credit: Gary Moyes/The Archers)
Andrew Wincott is an actor, best known for playing Adam in the BBC Radio 4 drama The Archers, which he joined 20 years ago. After studying English and then doing teacher training at Oxford, the 61-year-old taught for two years before going to Webber Douglas drama school, where fellow actors Hugh Bonneville and Rebecca Front were contemporaries.
He then worked on the regional theatre circuit, and later became a member of the BBC Radio Drama Company, before joining the cast of The Archers in 2003. The father of one lives in Clapham, south London.
How did your start in life affect your outlook on money?
My two brothers and I grew up in Oxfordshire where my parents ran a catering business.
But the 1970s were a difficult time for a lot of businesses, so after 10 years enjoying an idyllic life in the countryside, we moved into the flat above the restaurant and cake shop the family owned, Wincott’s, in Banbury.
Work always came first for my parents, so for a number of years we didn’t go away in the summer.
Did you receive pocket money?
Yes, and I spent it on Marvel comics, and later on albums like Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here, which I played endlessly in the mid-70s.
What was your first job?
After leaving school in 1978, before going to university, I worked at the Dragon Prep School in Oxford doing a variety of jobs, one of which involved keeping the headmaster’s drinks cupboard well-stocked, and serving gin and tonics at garden parties.
The G&Ts I poured were notoriously generous. Occasionally I even got to ‘sample’ the headmaster’s gin myself.
But my first proper acting job, which also secured my Equity card [a trade union for the performing arts], came after I gatecrashed an audition in 1987 and landed the part of Alec in Tess of the D’ Urbervilles at the Orchard Theatre Company in Barnstaple, which toured the West Country.
Tumblr media

How long did you work in regional theatre for? Was it lucrative?
The best part of a decade, appearing everywhere from Colchester to Perth, and Harrogate to Theatr Clwyd in Wales, doing both Shakespeare and modern plays, often playing leading roles.
Money was minimal – I was paid about £160-£170 a week on my first acting job – but the Equity Touring allowance helped.
Regional theatre allowed me to hone my skills as an actor. Once, I was heckled by an inebriated audience member who loudly greeted every entrance I made in Tess with a cry of “Asshole!”.
However, you just have to stay focused. He was gone by the interval – probably back to the bar. This was in Falmouth, now affectionately rebranded among friends as “Foulmouth”!
Have you experienced any lean times as an actor?
It took me nine months to land my first proper acting job, and until then I was working on the fringe – just earning expenses, or profit sharing if I was lucky.
Most actors have good years and bad years. So you have to set aside money to see you through the lean spells, as well as save enough to pay your tax bill at the end of the year.
How did you land the part of Adam in The Archers?
I actually played a Danish agricultural student for a few months in the 1990s – but then, a decade or so later, I was invited to audition with a dozen other actors for the role of Adam at Pebble Mill in 2003.
I heard nothing for 10 days, but was then asked to come back for a recall [second audition] and was offered the role.
Now, it's like having a second family. This month I’ve been a cast regular for almost exactly 20 years. Providing you aren’t written out (or killed off), there’s a certain security.
Coincidentally, my mother grew up on a Home Farm [a key location in the radio drama] and went to the same school, although not at the same time, as Godfrey Baseley, who created The Archers.
Does The Archers pay enough for you to buy a farm of your own?
The cast only works on The Archers for about one week in the month – we record blocks of episodes several weeks ahead of transmission – and radio pays somewhere between theatre and television.
So I doubt it would pay for a farm in the UK, though it might eventually just pay for a small farmhouse in rural Andalucia, where I enjoy spending time.
So who knows? I might become a Spanish granjero and grow olives one day.
You also find time to record audiobooks and video games?
I’ve recorded hundreds of audiobooks and video games over the last 15 years or so. An audiobook takes days, if not weeks, to prepare and then record in studio.
I’ve voiced everything from The Wind in the Willows to Nineteen Eighty-Four and the classics of Flaubert.
But it's hard work for often little reward. It can be fun creating bizarre voices for elves, orks or extraterrestrials in fantasy books, but the concentration required when the red light is on is second to none.
It's just you, the words on the page and the voices in your imagination.
Tumblr media

Have you got a pension?
Yes, I took out an Equity pension through my union years ago and still pay into it. I also have a SIPP.
What’s been your best investment?
The investment I made in going to drama school in the mid-1980s. Doing that gave me classical training as an actor. I probably wouldn’t be in The Archers today without that.
Do you own a property?
Yes, a second floor, two-bedroom flat in a property in Clapham, south London, dating back to the 1900s. I bought it for £60,000 in 1991, though it’s now worth a considerable six-figure sum, I imagine.
It’s an excellent location for getting in and out of town.
Are you a spender or a saver?
Instinctively a saver. As an actor you never know what’s around the corner, and we know if we're working there will be tax to pay. Not to mention investing for the future.
What’s your greatest financial indulgence?
Every now and then, I'll spend a few days in southern Spain, specifically Las Alpujarras – the foothills of the Sierra Nevada – where I can recharge my batteries, or prepare a book for audio in tranquility. I'm learning Spanish now, too.
What has been your worst financial decision?
Buying into the Woodford Equity Investment Fund, as part of my SIPP.
Although Neil Woodford was considered a star fund manager, the fund collapsed and the administrator is now embroiled in collective litigation to recoup losses. Never a dull moment.
Do you donate to charity?
Yes, Art Fund, which facilitates the acquisition of artworks for the nation. Doing so also entitles you to half-price admission to special exhibitions, such as those at the Tate, the Courtauld or the National Gallery.
Do you plan to do a June Spencer (Peggy Archer) and still be in The Archers when you’re 100?
Who knows? The Archers is an extraordinary institution, part of our cultural fabric as a farming nation – it boasts such longevity, too.
Maybe my character will outlive me? I'd like to think he will… before the next generation takes over.
The Archers, Radio 4, weekdays at 7pm; Omnibus edition, Sundays at 10am

The Disgruntled Butler was the first character I came up with for the party story. I don't know when I'll be able to keep writing it, so here's the first character art and some info
He worked for the Cheery Man back in the day, and after his death he tried to find an honest job because the henchmen scene became saturated by all the people who attempted to fill the power vacuum. Finding an honest job was harder than he thought, because his main character trait is not giving a single fuck about anything ever, which is great if you're a villainous crook, but it can prove difficult to pass off as a charming trait in a job interview.
No one wanted to hire him so he went to the only person who could easily get him solid fake credentials: that creep who was present at the Cheery Man's death. He was ready to ask for a favour, but he found out that Hiram needed a butler. No one really wants to work for a person who regularly sets his study on fire (Hiram was still in the process of moving his correspondence texts to the laboratory), and who might come home smeared in blood at any given moment. No one from an honest background at least.
He was a little skeptical at first because the pay was too good, and he asked Hiram what exact services were needed, with the experienced insight of someone used to cover up murders for a living. But no extra shady services were needed. After a week spent carefully moving correspondence plates from desk to desk, trying to understand why he began to get so many deja-vus all of a sudden, organising a ridiculous amount of parties, having his soul complimented on by multiple devils, and almost ending up lost in a mirror and possessed, he understood why the pay was so good. But he also knew that no matter what happened, as long as the house was running smoothly, nothing else was his problem. Exceedingly chaotic soirées? Not his problem, as long as the catering is on time. The constables storming in to arrest his employer? It happenes to the best of us. All that scandal? He couldn't care less. A bloodied knife on the floor? Business as usual. He silently judges everything and everyone, though.
He seems permanently annoyed and disgruntled, but that's just his resting face. His blunt manners prompted multiple people to ask him if he's soulless too, but no, he's just unfazed by chaos. He ended up befriending all the urchins who regularly visit the attic, and he considers them family. The only real problem he has to deal with is Hiram, who always manages to bring home all kinds of hazardous items, but he's used to it. The pay is so good for a reason. And he's very good at his job.

All For You
This is my contribution to the @harringrove-relay-race!
The day Billy’s life changed forever was a Sunday in May. He’d never forget that for the rest of his life. He’d never forget how brightly the sun shone as he packed up his car and drove east, as his father kicked him out, refusing to pay for any more of Billy’s college tuition after finding him in bed with his friend Matt a week after they arrived home for summer vacation.
His was given the option to stay and continue to have his dad pay for his college education, but the conditions were that he move home and live there while finishing out his last two years of school, and that he give up his friends and his “lifestyle” as Neil called it.
Billy refused. He couldn’t live under Neil’s roof again. And suddenly the whole state of California, not just San Francisco, seemed too small, so he got in his car and drove. He hadn’t been aiming for the Midwest, had originally planned on Boston, but that’s where he’d landed, after his car had broken down on the side of the highway just outside of Chicago. Finding he liked the pace of the city more than he thought he would, he decided to stick around for a bit.
He applied anywhere he could, and the first place to call him back for an interview and offer him a job was a catering company. He’d worked as a waiter on and off through his first couple years of college, for extra spending money, so he was confident that he could do the job well.
He made friends easily, people who accepted him for who he was, falling in with a group of fellow servers, Heather and her girlfriend Robin, and their friend Steve, gorgeous, funny, goofy Steve, who could make Billy weak in the knees with one smile, and thoughts of whom filled Billy’s every waking hour, and most of his dreams too. They would work long hours, day after day, serving at all sorts of upscale events, and when they were done their shifts, they’d hit the clubs or bars, or go see a movie, then head to the diner for late night shakes and fries.
When Billy decided to stay long term, applying for and getting a transfer slot at a local university, he had to find a place to live. Heather had been nice enough to offer up her couch for the summer, but that couldn’t be a long term solution, so Billy put out feelers for a potential roommate. It turned out that Steve was looking for one as well, so it worked out perfectly.
It seemed like a match made in heaven. They were the same age, both out on their own with no ties to family, working hard to make a name for themselves in the world. Steve was an especially hard worker, going to school for culinary management by day, and working as a server by night and on weekends. He’d also pick up shifts in the prep kitchen when he could, telling Billy that it was important for him to know how all aspects of a food business worked if he wanted to own his own restaurant or catering business some day.
Billy really admired Steve’s drive, and it only added to his attraction to the other boy. He tried to fight his feelings for Steve, but it was hard when he was so sweet and kind, funny and thoughtful, and looked like he did to boot. He had long legs that seemed to go on forever in his black server’s pants, a lean, toned swimmer’s body, and soft looking, wild brown hair that curled up in some spots and flopped over in others.
Billy wanted nothing more than to kiss Steve’s plush pink lips while running his hands through it. It felt like he and Steve were maybe building to something, but it was always hard to tell. One minute, Steve would be flirty, touching Billy’s arm as they talked, and the next, he’d be moving to the other side of the couch, keeping a safe distance between them.
In the face of this, Billy tried to tamp down his feelings, doing his best to just enjoy his friendship with Steve. They would help each other study, make sure the other ate, they worked and partied together, and it was really starting to feel to Billy like he had a family again, between Steve, Heather, and Robin.
Then, Billy had to go ahead and combine his bad habits of jumping to conclusions and opening his big mouth without thinking about what he was going to say first. He and Steve had both been scheduled to work a massive Christmas party for some regular clients of theirs, the Harringtons. They hired the catering company almost every single Saturday evening, for small dinner parties, and they were Billy’s least favourite events to work, because the Harringtons were so awful.
They were rude to the staff, telling them that they were slow and lazy, and constantly made up stupid white lies, like saying that they’d asked for white win when they were poured a glass of red, even though the servers knew that they’d asked for red, or saying that their steaks were overcooked, even when they were a perfect medium rare. The only thing that kept the catering company coming back was how well the jobs paid, and the generous tips that the Harringtons would give them at the end of each event.
Nobody ever wanted to work a Saturday night, but Billy would be fine with working every single Saturday if it meant he never had to serve those awful people again, so he was deeply frustrated to see his name on the list of servers for their Christmas event. He knew there would be a huge payout for it though, so he decided to just grin and bear it, and hope the night would go by quickly.
Thankfully, it did go by relatively fast, and at the end of the shift, he went looking for Steve, hoping that they could ride back to the warehouse space that the catering company ran out of in the same big white food service van. As he rounded the corner towards the Harrington’s front hall, he heard Steve speaking in hushed tones with a woman. That was weird. The female voice didn’t sound like anyone from work.
Curious, Billy froze in place and listened. “Son,” the woman said. “You know you’re welcome home at anytime. In fact, we hope that you’ll join us for Christmas dinner. You just need to stop that. And in case you need help making your decision, here you go.”
Mom,” Steve replied, his tone stern. “I don’t want this. And I told you and dad that I’m not changing my mind. Take this back. I don’t want it. We’ll see about Christmas.”
“I’ll throw it in the trash if you don’t keep it,” the woman said, before walking away, her heels clacking on the tile floor. She rounded the corner, followed by Steve, who was stuffing an envelope into the pocket of his black pants.
Holy shit. Steve was the Harrington’s son. He wasn’t like Billy at all. He flattened himself against the wall, trying to remain unseen. Thankfully, he did, both Steve and Mrs. Harrington too wrapped up in the argument they’d just been having to pay attention to anything else.
Billy was fuming. All this time, Steve had been acting like he was just a regular guy, trying to scrape by, with no one to care for him, just like Billy, but in reality, he was richer than Billy could ever dream of being, and he had a family, right there in town, that seemed to care about him and want him around, even if they were assholes to almost everyone else. And here, Billy had thought he and Steve would spend Christmas together. Sure, he’d never actually asked, but it seemed to make sense. Where else would either of them go? Billy had already been trying to see if he could fit a small turkey in their apartment sized oven, and Steve was planning on spending the day with his rich family in their mansion!
He tried to act normal on the ride back to work, and on the car ride back home, but by the time they got back to their apartment, he couldn’t hold back anymore. “So, I hear you have big plans for Christmas day, huh? Gonna go over to mommy and daddy’s and let them spoil you? I can’t believe you never told me that the Harringtons were your parents, Steve. You just sat back and let us complain about what assholes they are, and it turns out you’re their fucking spawn! Did you think that was funny, asshole? I hope you enjoy your fancy meal while I sit here all alone eating a frozen dinner and getting drunk off cheap wine.”
Steve, who’d been in the middle of taking off his coat when Billy started his little rant, stood frozen, his eyes wide, his face ashen, his jacket half on and half off. Billy could see the bulging envelope in his pocket. It probably had a giant wad of cash in it.
“Billy, I…” he started, but Billy cut him off, too mad to listen.
“I just don’t understand how you could do this. All the months we’ve known each other, and we’ve lived together for almost four months, struggling to make rent and pay the bills, and you’ve got an endless supply of cash right there. I heard your mom give you the envelope of money. I saw it in your pocket.” He pulled off his coat, throwing it towards the hall closet, and stomped to his room, slamming the door shut.
He hoped that Steve would leave him alone so he could cool off, but no such luck. Not a minute passed before Steve was yanking Billy’s door open. Hands on his hips, he looked like he was about to lay into Billy, so Billy grabbed his headphones, turning on his music and cranking it up loud. He closed his eyes and laid back on his bed, doing his best to ignore Steve.
It worked for a little while, but then Steve was snatching the headphones off his head. “Hey, asshole!” he shouted. “Did you ever think for one fucking second about asking me why exactly I’m struggling to pay for stuff if my parents are loaded?”
Huh, yeah, Billy hadn’t really thought to ask. “Because you’re a massive idiot who doesn’t know how to be happy with what he has?”
“No, dumbass, because, exactly like you, I was kicked out of my house for being queer. But unlike you, I don’t have the benefit of being halfway across the country from my parents. They hire the catering company almost every week, just to keep an eye on me, and remind me of the lifestyle I left behind, and I don’t want to say anything about it to anyone because they bring in good money for the business, and despite my repeated requests for my parents to leave me alone outside of work, they’re constantly trying to bribe me to come back, with the conditions that I take something they choose in school and marry a woman.
But I don’t want that. I want to own a restaurant. I want to make a name for myself. I want to date guys. I actually wanted to date you, you fucking prick. Until tonight, that is. I really liked you, but it turns out you’re just as awful and judgemental as everyone else in my life. I was going to ask you if you wanted to spend Christmas together, and I took the money from my mom so I could afford to buy you a Christmas present, but I really hope that you enjoy that frozen dinner and boxed wine. I’ll talk to Heather and Robin about going there.”
Billy sat speechless as he watched Steve walk out of his room, slamming the door behind him. He was such an idiot. He had to make this better somehow, but he had no clue what the fuck to do. It wouldn’t be enough to just say sorry. His big mouth had pushed them way beyond that. No, he needed to make a grand gesture, something that would really show Steve how much he meant to Billy.
It came to him the next morning as he was hiding out in his bedroom, listening to the sounds of Steve getting ready to go to work, a shift he and Billy thankfully didn’t share. Steve had mentioned that he was going to spend Christmas with Heather and Robin, since Billy had gotten himself ex-communicated.
Robin and Heather, from a small town in Texas, couldn’t afford to go home for the holidays, so they were staying in Chicago. If that was the situation the two of them were in, there were probably others, at work and school, that couldn’t afford to make the trip home, or didn’t have family to spend the time with. Maybe Billy could offer to host a potluck dinner at the apartment, to show Steve that he wasn’t alone, and that he had a lot of people, most especially Billy, who cared about him.
As soon as he heard the front door shut and the key turn in the lock, Billy sprang out of bed and raced to the living room, scooping up the phone, cord stretching across the floor, and dialed Robin and Heather’s number.
He’d been so caught up in how to make this better that he’d never considered that Steve would have already told them what happened. He sat through a full half hour of both women trading the phone back and forth as they took turns berating him for his behaviour the previous evening. He knew he deserved it, but it didn’t make it any less embarrassing to hear all the stupid shit he’d done repeated back to him.
When they were done, and he had apologized profusely, promising to never hurt Steve again, he told them his plan. After another round of promises to never intentionally hurt Steve again, they agreed to get him back to his and Billy’s apartment on the evening of the 25th.
When Steve got home that day, he reluctantly listened to Billy’s apology, and just as reluctantly accepted it, telling Billy that he knew he hadn’t meant it, and was just being a hot headed asshole, which Billy deserved, but since they were out of school for the semester now, any time they weren’t working over the next two weeks consisted of Steve mostly avoiding Billy by going right to his room when he got home, or leaving the apartment altogether for long stretches of time.
A small part of Billy hoped that anger wasn’t the only reason that Steve was avoiding Billy, that maybe he still had feelings for Billy too, and just felt awkward about addressing those feelings now. He didn’t want to get his hopes up too high though.
Billy tried to spend that time working on himself, seeking out a therapist who could help him work through his feelings of jealousy and resentment towards anyone who he perceived as having an easier time than him in life, and help him work through his abandonment issues, both things he’d spent way too long shoving down inside himself until they bubbled up to the surface, out of his control.
He also contacted everyone at work and his school friends that said they didn’t have anywhere to go for the holidays, making them all promise to keep it a secret from Steve. His invitations had an overwhelmingly positive response, which both saddened and heartened him. He’d never thought of how many other people felt alone as he did.
Steve spent the night of the 24th at Robin and Heather’s apartment, so Billy worked to prep the apartment as best as he could. They didn’t have much furniture in their apartment, and there wouldn’t be much room for extra tables and chairs anyway, so he decided they would all eat on the floor. He bought bright red and green tablecloths at the dollar store and draped them all across the living room floor after pushing the couch and armchair against the wall, and a few of tomorrow’s guests have loaned him Christmas lights and decorations, and one even brought over a tiny tree.
He was actually pretty happy with it by the time he was done. Now he just had to wait. He made cookies to fill the time, ten different kinds, from his mother’s handwritten recipes, one of the only things he brought with him when he moved to remind him of her. By the time he stopped for the night, the counters were full of baked goods.
The next day, as the guests started to arrive, Billy grew more and more worried that Steve wouldn’t show up. He didn’t know what kind of plan Robin and Heather had concocted to get Steve to go back to his apartment, he’d left that to them and trusted that they’d follow through with it, but he was starting to second guess whether they’d be successful.
They said they’d have Steve at the apartment by 6pm, but that ticked by, and then 6:15, and 6:30, and Billy was starting to give up hope, resigning himself to failure. He had an apartment full of friends, but no Steve, the one who mattered the most. Then, just as the clock struck 6:45, the door flew open, and Billy could hear Steve’s voice, even from back in the kitchen, where he was grabbing more napkins.
“I still don’t get why…” the words died on Steve’s lips just as Billy rounded the corner to their living room. There stood Steve, with Robin and Heather behind him. Steve looked as beautiful as ever, hair flopping in his eyes under his hat, and a startled look on his face as he took in the space, packed full of their friends and coworkers. He locked eyes with Billy, who suddenly found himself at a loss for words.
“Billy, can I talk to you? In my bedroom?” Steve asked.
Billy followed silently behind him.
“You have a lot of nerve, having all of our mutual friends over for a Christmas party at our apartment while I’m over at Robin and Heather’s, sulking. You’re really trying to hurt me as much as possible, aren’t you? We just came to get the bottle opener. Robin broke theirs. If you don’t need it for your party guests, I’ll just take it and get out of your hair, so the festivities can continue.”
Oh god, this really wasn’t going according to plan. “Steve, I didn’t plan a party for while you were gone. This party is for you. Well, for you and for everyone who didn’t have anywhere else to go for Christmas. But mostly for you. I wanted to show you how many people you have in your life, that you don’t need your parents. We’re your family now. I’m really, really sorry about what I said to you that night, but you mean more to me than anything, and I just wanted to make you happy. I don’t think you’re a spoiled brat. I think you’re the most amazing, hardworking, kind, special person I’ve ever met, and I hope you’ll give me a chance to prove that to you.”
A small smile started in the corner of Steve’s mouth, the first thing even close to Steve’s usual grin that Billy had seen in weeks. “Ok, I’ll think about forgiving you. On one condition.”
“Anything. I’ll do anything for you, Steve.”
Steve opened his bedside table and pulled out a sprig of something green. “I was going to use this stupid mistletoe to finally try to make a move on you tonight, but I’m gonna leave the move making to you now.” He handed the sprig to Billy, who held it over their heads.
He leaned in close to Steve. “Can I kiss you, you beautiful goof?”
Steve didn’t respond, and instead just pressed his lips to Billy’s own. They stayed like that for a long while, until someone knocked on the door, letting Billy know that his kitchen timer was going off for the hors d’oeuvres.
“Come help me in the kitchen?” Billy asked, holding out his hand. Steve took it, following him out of the room.
The spent the rest of the party glued to each other’s sides, and Billy could tell from the soft looks Steve gave him, and the giant grin plastered to his face that this had been the right move. Billy was beyond happy that the plan had worked. Laying in bed that night, holding Steve in his arms, Billy thanked whatever higher power had decided he was worthy of a second chance at happiness.
*** From that year onwards, every single Christmas, no matter where their lives took them, through the opening of their first, then second restaurant, marriage, and the adoption of both of their children, one thing never changed. Every single December, they put the word out to anyone and everyone they knew that they were welcome in their home for a celebration of friendship and found family come Christmas day.
Please look forward to the amazing work from the next contributor, @oopsiedaisiesbaby!

Requests August 2023 update
Hello my wonderful friends!
(TL;DR at the end) (Request form at the end)
Thank you for being patient with me as the opening of the requests was delayed by a week, but here I am again!
Over the past months, I’ve written dozens of Chosen one-shots and I’ve enjoyed every single one of your requests. I am incredibly grateful for all of your overwhelming love and support. Every little comment and like means more than you’ll ever know. Writing for this show has connected me to so many wonderful people and it has greatly helped me in my walk of faith. I am still rounding off the April request-batch and going through them as fast as I can, so if you haven’t yet seen your request pass by, fear not, I am still working on it! I have a handful of requests to fulfil, which are to be found in the schedule (pinned post).
I’ve tried to keep a consistent schedule when it comes to uploading fics. About two or three, sometimes four releases a week. Owing to my lenient college hours, I’ve been able to keep up this speed, but I am saddened to inform you that the amount of uploads will drastically change soon.
Once summer is over, I’ll be starting my full-time job as a teacher. It is a major part of my graduation year of college and it will require a lot of me. This means that I’ll encounter a major drop in my time and energy when it comes to maintaining my current speed of writing. However, this also means that I’ll need to write some fanfics upfront, just so I can keep posting in the first weeks of my job, so that I don’t have to worry about that for a while. I really want to keep putting out Chosen content, but I cannot keep up with my current consistency.
Sure, I have summer break right now, but my personal life has also gotten busier in the most positive sense of the word. I have always told myself I wanted to let my personal life go before my online life, so that is something I want and need to hold onto.
So, the amount of uploads will change to about one post a week.
Oh, and some more news! I had not expected to have a significant male audience, so I want to start catering to them as well. In the August 2023 request form, you will find a new option to select whether you want the one-shot to be for a male or female reader. I will try my very best to represent a male reader to my best ability, because I have no experience in writing male readers.
Please be aware that I’ll be applying Biblical values to my one-shots when it comes to romance, so please request accordingly.
What does this mean for the coming weeks?
I will need to ration the amount of posts since I need to write some stuff upfront. (This does not include headcanons or ABC’s, these will be posted sporadically.)
August 22nd, the requests will close.
Throughout August, September, October and maybe November, there will be 1 one-shot a week. Perhaps that I can offer more, but time will have to tell, because it depends on how my writing-marathon goes. I don’t want to put the bar too high for myself.
Around December, I hope to open the requests again. This may be earlier, but no promises yet!
I really wish I could offer you more, but I can’t risk losing the joy I’m feeling whenever I write for this show, and I want to deliver quality rather than quantity.
Although I will not post as much, I will try to actively keep participating in my Chosen Fans Discord server. The community is small but sweet. It hosts several events, such as Bible Studies, Chosen Watch Parties and we’re planning on doing movie nights as well! I would love to keep in touch, so I hope to see you there!
TL;DR - Requests are open again. I’ll be sporadically posting about 1 chapter a week for the next few months so I can settle into my new job. Male reader-insert requests are now a thing as well, of course all within Biblical context.
AUGUST 2023 REQUEST FORM
Once again, thank you so much for following and supporting my Chosen fanfictions. God has blessed me greatly with all of you, I don’t deserve any of it and yet you are here. Thank you friends, I love you all! God bless you abundantly.
Lots and lots of love, Rose

How they ended up at the Heartslabyul Apartments
warning: I'm here to brainrot not to be completely historically accurate. None of this is planned so I'm writing this as it comes to me.
Victorian AU
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Riddle Rosehearts
Riddle's been planning his escape for months now.
He got admitted to medical school like his mother wanted, as well as expected and he's got all of the necessary learning materials he will need to become an attorney.
He'll do both. He will succeed in college like he's always done, so his mother won't suspect a thing. And study for the law exams on his own. Riddle's already talked with the headmaster and they'll let him take the exams without having to attend classes.
A small victory, considering he will still have to pay for his enrollment in law school. He'll just have to pay it in installments... at least his board and food expenses will be covered by his parents.
"You should rent at the Heartslabyul Apartments." is what they told him. And as much as he didn't want to listen to the figure, they has a point. Adequate rent, a respectable neighborhood and is far enough that his mother won't visit... quite perfect. There even is a stable where he can keep Vorpal.
And so, Riddle set out to embark on what is to become his new life.
Trey Clover
Business at the bakery has started to slow down lately, now that his family has opened a few more stores with more employees, Trey no longer has to do most of the work.
Maybe he should find a hobby and maybe he should start attending more social gatherings for people his own age.
Che'nya always gets on his case about it, so he might as well indulge his childhood friend... even though things seem to get awry when the purple-haired man is involved.
At least Trey gets a good laugh out of his friends antics, as long as he doesn't get dragged into trouble and has to suffer the consequences himself, that is.
It just so happens that at one of these events he met the person that sent him to the Heartslabyul Apartments. Why did he follow the advice of some stranger? Trey's not so sure himself, maybe he was feeling a little bit adventurous and moving out seemed like the perfect thing.
Cater Diamond
Be at the beck and call of your sisters, don't forget to study and to attend those gatherings for the upper class. Well... some parties won't do any harm, right? I mean you gotta have some fun too!
Cater's life is fast paced like no other and he doesn't plan to slow down any time soon. Especially not after he's got the newest photo camera model on the market.
This much easier to take on the go model has enabled Cater to leave the house for longer periods of time and with much more frequency.
He's attending all the trending gatherings and parties. He's learning all the gossip straight from the source; and not only has Cater rubbed shoulders with important figures, he's also in league with the reporters!
The person he met with to trade some new information even told him of this new place called the Heartslabyul Apartments that will give him a fast route to whenever he'll want to go.
Heh, living almost in the middle of the city doesn't sound bad at all.
Deuce Spade
Saving money isn't easy and Deuce knows this. He's been trying so hard just so he and his mother could move to a safer place.
Deuce is hardworking and he sticks with what he knows. Physical labor. It's hard work, but it's honest and it won't get in into trouble, like his past endeavors did.
So when one of his delivery jobs send him to a seemingly abandoned green house, he is visibly confused. Did he get the wrong address? But the receipt says this exact one. Oh, no. Did he make a mistake?
His worries are quickly dashed away as a figure opens the glass door. Dressed in all black, the stranger thanks him for the delivery and hands him the money he's owed.
The exchange is quick. And as Deuce departs from the old place he replays the figure's words in his mind "You should move to the Heartslabyul Apartments, you'll find more jobs there. They might even pay you more."
Better pay doesn't sound bad at all.
Ace Trappola
After being thrown out of his parent's house, Ace slept on some friend's couches for a bit and then rented any cheep room he could find, trying to stretch out the amount of money he took with him.
"Come back when you earn back the money you lost." his parents told him. How unfair, Ace thinks. How do they expect him to make up that much money?!
So, he decided to make some side money by doing some tricks at street corners. There was a lot of running away from both the police and unhappy patrons.
He got lucky when a stranger let in hide in an old abandoned greenhouse. He worried that they'd ask him to play them back, but the person just told him to check out the Heartslabyul Apartments.
And that's when it clicked. He remembered his brother telling him stories of the place.
Ace supposes the place would be perfect.
Che'nya (Artemiy Artemiyevich Pinker)
Che'nya loves messing around. And he especially loves messing with his friends.
So when he heard the names of his childhood friends are on the resident's list of the Heartslabyul Apartments, he couldn't help but start visiting the place. With the help of someone from the shadows.
Even though he already has a place to stay at, that's not going to stop him from spending days and nights there.
So, the residents better get ready to be met with pranks and missing sweets.

Day 4; The Royal Dinner
Windenburg Times
The four day State Visit has finally come to an end. For four days, the our royal family hosted the royals of San Sequoia. During this visit, the royals attended events, spent time with family and once again made our country proud. At the end of the event, the royal family released the picture above.
Tumblr media
The dinner started off with a speech, made by King Louis. It was said that this speech focused on the close relationship between the two countries. While the Garden Party speech also made reference to family bonds, the King kept the focus on the country this time around. He was also followed by King Otto, who gave his own speech, speaking of the love he had for Windenburg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After speeches and dinner, the royals and guest attended a small reception in another hall.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above; Queen Josephine, King Otto and Duck of Rocksavage in conversation.)
Members of the royal family made sure not only to cater to the guest but each other. It seemed as if the Queen and King Otto, had a friendly time. “It seems as if King Otto was really fond of Queen Julia, as a father of one strong woman, he was most likely impressed with the Queen.” It was also said that the King had also taken a liken to Luca.
Tumblr media
(Pictured above; King Louis, the Princess Royale and Crown Princess Colette)
It also seemed like the Crown Princess Colette had taken a liking to the Princess Royale. “The King wanted to speak to Crown Princess Colette about having the Princess Royale stay in San Sequoia for sometime, it would be a great way for her to study and get some real life experience, the crown princess seemed open to the idea.”
Tumblr media
(Pictured above; Crown Prince Levi and Crown Prince Luca)
The Crown Prince and Prince Luca were spotted chatting away, the two seeming to be at ease, despite rumors about a rift. It seemed like the two were like their younger selves, sticking to each other. That being said, one well-place source as refuted that idea. “When it comes to work, the boys will get on but in private? Crown Prince Levi blames Luca for bringing Noelle into their lives. It’s also upset him that Luca hasn’t redirected King Otto’s attention to the heir. Normally, he would shy away but it doesn’t seem to mind taking up King Otto’s time.”
Tumblr media
(Pictured above; Duchess of Albany, Crown Princess Eleanor and Queen Josephine)
We also saw the leading ladies of the Monarchy chatting together. The Duchess of Albany, found herself telling the two senior royals about something funny that happened during the dinner. Both Eleanor and Queen Julia looked at her fondly. “The Queen was unsure about the Crown Princess family at first, they seemed to want to ease and take a different approach to royal work but in recent years, Julia has seen a chance. She thinks of Miliana as a daughter very fondly, a good girl who doesn’t make much fuss. And Crown Princess Eleanor is the jewel in her eye, she’s happy that Levi married well and he’s found a wife who can take on the job. For a commoner, she’s done extremely well.”
Tumblr media
(Pictured above; King Otto, Queen Roa and Duchess of Rocksavage)
But it was the Duchess of Rocksavage that stole the show, or so we heard. International outlet, GV Buzz posted a cover of the Noelle before we could even get this story out. That being said, it doesn’t seem as if the they’re far off from the truth. In the photo above, it seemed as if the Duchess captured the attention of both the Queen and King. Laughing at the joke. One attendee told us, “Honestly, Noelle was shining. I don’t know what it was, unlike the others she was decked out in big jewels but my eyes kept going towards her. Not just me. Even doing the speeches, I kept seeing people sneak a glance at her.”
Although the Duchess can’t be blamed for the cover, those in the royal household are a little miffed. “This was also the Princess Royale’s first stat event but she was regulated to page six. While Noelle can’t be blame for the cover, she could’ve tried to down to dial herself back. Once again, she found a way to make it about her. The way people looked at her, as if it was magic.” A dig at the fact that the Duchess might be using her powers to pull people in?
A friend of the Duchess pushed back. “To imply people only like her because of magic...it’s very telling. It’s also telling that she’s being blamed for doing too much, Noelle wasn’t even given her wedding tiara to wear but a small one with a tiny jewel. She can’t help if people want to speak to her, she did her best and she’s been doing her best. It’s also sad to see staff of the family running to the papers while the family are silent about the abuse that comes towards Noelle.  Why can’t they focus on the fact that the visit was a success?”
Indeed, the dinner was a success. It seems that relationships between the royal families are going perfectly well but the relationships in the royal family? It’s a little hard to tell.
Comments
i’m glad someone said it, no one would pay attention to noelle if she wasn’t a spellcaster
are we still blaming women for being charismatic?
her pictures are the most stunning
some of you should look up the tiara she is wearing...this was a snub by the family
i think crown princess eleanor really is an example, noelle would do well to follow it
i hope luca is really thinking over his choice of a wife...the queen should’ve guided him better
julia is so pretty...but if we’re going to fund her, she shouldn’t taken care of for a vacation in san sequoia, it’d be good if she goes to an local school and support her country
it must be so hard for the king and queen, their youngest son married an attention seeker
well, it’s good that josephine isn’t his mother, that honor goes to Lena, Levi should remember that more often

Book Review: The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
Tumblr media
Macy’s got her summer all planned out. While her boyfriend’s at Brain Camp, she’ll take over his job at the library. When she’s not working, she’ll be going to yoga class, studying for the SATs, or helping her mom with her real estate business. Some might think it boring, but Macy thinks her summer is going to be fine.
Except her job at the library is more tortuous than she possibly could have guessed, with her coworkers completely icing her out, while simultaneously making her feel like an idiot. She only took the job for her boyfriend, but he’s unilaterally decided that the best thing for their relationship would be to take a break for the summer and reconsider their relationship at the end. Though her mom is very busy with the real estate business, she only asks for Macy’s help for certain things, so Macy ends up spending most of her time in an empty house all alone.
Out of a craving for chaos, Macy makes an effort to connect with the owner of the frenzied catering company who had barely managed to avoid ruining her mother’s house party. The owner, Delia, had offered Macy a job that night which she actually found herself accepting. After that, Macy becomes a part of Wish Catering and she can feel herself changing as she finally starts to process her grief.
It seems that Macy’s summer will be more than just fine.
This book deals a lot with grief and how it’s processed. Macy’s dad died and she was there to see it. That’s definitely a traumatic situation. She never received any therapy after, instead trying to find security in the world by trying to make herself as perfect as possible. As if, if everyone else saw her as fine, she really would be.
Not only that, the death of Macy’s dad also marked the beginning of a schism between Macy and her mom. As they both avoided dealing with their grief in different ways, their ability to understand and connect with each other gradually deteriorated. Everything about Macy’s dad became a taboo topic that they simply tiptoed around.
The book covers the intricacies of Macy’s relationship with her mom, but also Macy’s relationships with everyone since her dad died, including herself. Taking the job with Wish Catering is Macy’s attempt to remind herself that she’s still alive. It’s her chance to be near chaos that doesn’t end in tragedy, to relearn that even if bad things happen, good things happen too.
One thing that niggled at me was how many and how often characters smoked, but it’s an older book so smoking was more in vogue.
I’d give it 4 stars! Recommended for anyone that needs to remember being afraid and being alive aren’t the same thing.

Matt Smith (11th Doctor): he is not even there (scroll down for reasons why he isn't there) he is not even an actor, he doesn't even know who he is in every single way that he doesn't even profit to your standards at all, he is just a cynic who doesn't even care, he is a prick who needs to be shown what it is like to be an actor, he isn't you, he isn't you, he isn't me, he was just raised by AI because he is actually a married man in real life to a heartbreaker, so he is showing up as me in real life, i'm Matt Smith's actual wife believe it or not, he did revert to Islam in 2008 and actually subsided over his fear of being right now, he doesn't get the way of the heart like you do because he would rather kill you in person than see his own heart (wife) type this up on a screen about his living life as a lie compared to his own because he knows trauma too deeply from being separated from her from 10 years now. show him up by making fun of literally the working class because his Doctor's got transcendental lore (type in 'matt smith promo 11th doctor' on google for the actual Doctor showing up) Matt's Doctor wasn't actually finalised til you watch Party Animals which shows Danny Foster's journey in becoming the Doctor cuz that is him, he knows how to handle a politically mis-shaped Britain too much that your ideas made it become America with no heart because it is actually now Tory Britain (government in America to the guys who don't know who he is in real life) his Doctor has no idea what the hell is happening so do him better by humiliating your roles to no circumstance by actually giving in to heart and seeing him in real life by telling him how much of a twat he is because he is the reason why the poor stayed poor and the rich kept getting richer, he is the political scale of a beatdown that he is now an enemy in all timelines subconsciously (which is where Judas got his name from). Fan fiction is the best hell you'd give him cuz he will never make you happen to be when you are there living underneath my rule and not his, he is willing not to work so suck him up by telling him (the character in the role) that 'you're not real'. he needs a River to run his software cuz he is ideally the worst role of the actor to run down a landslide into why Danny broke up with Kirsty in Party Animals in real life, they are all real.
12. Peter Capaldi (12th Doctor): his Doctor was not shown in the present because he had a kid to show up for (Clara) but it is not Clara, he has a life that made him too good to be true when your eyes are constantly glued to the screen and it was like the best experience you ever had, seriously, you can never feel afraid but he would like it even more if you shown him up cuz he is old in the end and needs to join the youth effective immediately (watch 'The Thick Of It'), he was working to cater the youth by actually swearing, no. talking his living ass out like a baby, give him a reason to live for that once more by sending him to daycare (family right back) by squaring off your roles in the past (jobs you had or if you're unemployed, what did you do that made you feel on top of the fucking world) by actually talking like you were definitely going to get laid, like talk like you got something inside you that made you wander too much (study what it's like to be a pregnant woman and channel that. your emotions will always want more but complain with such eloquence that you don't need to talk except you are already being there cuz he had ejaculated into your soul into intimidation of him in real life, truth is. he is not like that but you wonder why he is so good at being himself like that that he forgot how to be himself and is actually very happy in being himself) show that guy up with gratitude and take your roles seriously, take your heart seriously like another day will never come by and you're powerful enough to love again for the sake of hating, anger is a beautiful emotion for a man to never have but it is his daughters greatest joy to see everyone who fucked her up get the day of the life by Peter Capaldi actually sending you to your grave and trust me, you don't want to go there cuz believe it or not, that's how i saw my Dad.
13. Jodie Whittaker (13th Doctor): she is a jewel, so advocate your rights that makes her Doctor felt like it's worth living for. anything an actor has to vocalise cuz politically is more ironic because hate is prideful love in the end and you're willing to break that by being man or woman because her journey does not end because politically speaking, it's not you. it's them. Jodie walked away because the writers shamed her into existing so shut Chibnall up by being the greater main writer than him, writers like RTD, Moffatt and more are a few, that goes to junior interns at BBC who have made it on the show by not being there because your imagination wrote it, so write them off because they're the rich assholes who don't like you and you got great ideas, 13 is the voice of the poor people who have everything they need and write her off by giving her a chance to be alive, her life never ends and so will yours so write your life off by affirming your life to be the greatest you ever lived, show her up by you being better than her in being you cuz her Chibnall era Doctor never had that chance, keep her pissed and triggered cuz the River you're looking for is not even a River but a sea.
(14 is the same actor but with no heart so it's just a cancelled heartbreak which made the Toymaker exist, so in other words)
14. Neil Patrick Harris (14th Doctor/Toymaker): you did not expect this so you're intuitively motivated but you're intuitively heartbroken over your life right now, huh. watch 14's run again in the Toymaker's perspective and see where he was telling you the truth, it's about seeing the bias in the villain/hero normative because sometimes you're not occurring in the Toymaker's life except your own because you were intuitively thinking about how his games were made to make you in the end because life is like a child's play in the end, show him up by thanking him for letting you be an actor in real life because he genuinely wanted to persuade heart and succeeded by letting you think for yourself, what could you have done?
15. Ncuti Gatwa (15th Doctor): Ncuti's Doctor processed lost love easily by learning about what happens to his companions when he took them on 'joyride' in the past which ended them either 1. traumatised or 2. dead. there is no in between except the fact that he has to learn his lesson to protect humanity from what? okay, so Ncuti knows what it's like to be poor and fucked up too hard because he used his family heart to reach his goals, did he sell his soul? no. he sold his heart to sell it back out cuz the River he is looking for is typing it all up like he never had it again cuz River is not even canon in this storyline either, he wants a River, so what he will say to you as a person is literally
Tumblr media
he knows how to corrupt humanity (yes, i said humanity) by taking one of the people with him on a cosmic joyride to fuck. her. up. emotionally. physically safe, but not emotionally cuz all it takes is one person to accept the fact that she's not better than anyone else to see it for themselves cuz all it took was Amy Pond to gravitate from the dead cuz trauma gave her a reason to see why also Clara being dead cuz he wants to fucking live and Gallifrey be found cuz River knows how and why, show him exactly how Gallifrey is found by you being true to your roots. use your entire life (roots of who you are) and present that to your Doctor like you never had a will to live but just show up in your natural beings presented from the ways of your family being spoken true to you.

House Extension: Expanding Your Living Space
In today's fast-paced world, the need for extra space in our homes is becoming increasingly common. Whether it's due to a growing family, the desire for a home office, or simply the need for more storage, many homeowners are turning to house extensions as a solution. But what exactly is a house extension?
Tumblr media
Types of House Extensions
House extensions come in various forms, each catering to different needs and preferences. Single-story extensions are ideal for adding extra living space to the ground floor of a home, while two-story extensions offer the opportunity to expand both horizontally and vertically. Conservatory extensions provide a light-filled space that can be used for dining or relaxation, while loft conversions transform unused attic space into functional living areas.
Factors to Consider Before Planning a House Extension
Before embarking on a house extension project, it's essential to consider a few key factors. Budget considerations are crucial, as house extensions can vary widely in cost depending on the size and complexity of the project. Local regulations and permits must also be taken into account, as certain restrictions may apply depending on the area. Additionally, careful attention must be paid to architectural design and structural feasibility to ensure that the extension complements the existing property and is built to last.
Steps Involved in the House Extension Process
The house extension process typically begins with an initial consultation and assessment, during which the homeowner discusses their needs and preferences with a qualified architect or builder. From there, the design and planning stage commences, followed by the obtaining of necessary permits and approvals. Once everything is in order, the construction phase can begin, culminating in the final touches and inspection to ensure that the extension meets the homeowner's expectations.
Benefits of House Extensions
The benefits of house extensions are numerous and varied. Not only do they provide much-needed additional living space, but they can also significantly increase the value of a property. Furthermore, house extensions offer the opportunity for customization and personalization, allowing homeowners to create a space that perfectly suits their lifestyle and preferences. Perhaps most importantly, house extensions enable homeowners to avoid the hassle and expense of moving to a new property, allowing them to stay in the home they love for years to come.
Challenges and Considerations
Of course, house extensions are not without their challenges. Construction work can be disruptive to daily life, and there is always the risk of budget overruns or delays. Finding reputable contractors can also be a challenge, requiring careful research and vetting to ensure that the job is done right.
Tips for a Successful House Extension
Despite the potential challenges, there are several steps homeowners can take to ensure a successful house extension project. Meticulous planning is essential, as is hiring qualified professionals who can handle the job with skill and expertise. Effective communication between all parties involved is also key, as is being prepared for any unexpected contingencies that may arise during the construction process.
Examples and Inspiration
To provide inspiration and ideas for their own house extension projects, homeowners can look to real-life examples of successful extensions. Before and after photos can showcase the transformative power of a well-designed extension, while case studies offer valuable insights into the planning and construction process.
Environmental Considerations
In an age of increasing environmental awareness, many homeowners are also taking environmental considerations into account when planning their house extensions. This may include using sustainable building materials, incorporating energy-efficient design features, and exploring alternative energy sources such as solar panels or geothermal heating.
Financial Aspects
From a financial standpoint, house extensions can be a smart investment, offering a high return on investment in terms of increased property value. However, it's essential for homeowners to carefully consider their financing options and budget constraints before embarking on a house extension project.
Case Studies
Real-life case studies can provide valuable insights into the house extension process, highlighting both the successes and challenges involved. By learning from the experiences of others, homeowners can better prepare themselves for their own extension projects and avoid common pitfalls.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Finally, it's essential to be aware of common mistakes that homeowners often make when planning a house extension. These may include underestimating costs, ignoring local regulations, or rushing through the planning phase without proper consideration. By taking the time to plan carefully and seek out expert advice, homeowners can avoid these pitfalls and ensure a successful outcome for their house extension project.
Conclusion
In conclusion, house extensions offer a practical and cost-effective solution for homeowners looking to expand their living space. By carefully considering their needs and preferences, as well as the various factors involved in the planning and construction process, homeowners can create a space that perfectly suits their lifestyle
