AUGHH OKAY OKAY SO-

It’s INCREDIBLY similar to canon, that’s like, half of the point. Jamil and Azul have been in the same class for their whole school a career and I firmly believe Azul has HAD a crush on him since their first year even in canon (ex. “I’ve always been curious about you since we were first years.”)

so in this au it happened completely on accident. Since they were only around 3 weeks- a month into school, Jamil didn’t have kalim to worry about yet (who arrived a month later) and azul didn’t have such a large reputation (so Jamil was a little less cautious). Potion project, truth serum. Should be easy right? That was until azul accidentally lost balance and tried to catch himself on the cauldron, sending it all over him and into his mouth.

so when Jamil leans over to ask if he’s okay, because a giant metal thing just tipped over him, the first thing out of his mouth is “great seven you’re gorgeous.”

when Jamil is promptly like “what” Azul literally can not control his tongue and is like “please go on a date with me-“ and Jamil just stares at him for a moment before going “…sure” because, well, hell. He’s free from kalim for the first time in his life, he thinks he’s pretty too, it’s worth a shot and he’s under a truth potion, so at least he knows he finds him attractive. So sure, couldn’t hurt to try.

And it did, in fact, not hurt to try, they snuck their way up the astronomy tower and had a nice dinner that azul made. And they were both, very very happy.

another date later (this time by Jamil, where they played mancala in one of the scarabian common places) and they were official.

And a month later, (a week or so after kalim transferred) Jamil joined basketball and Azul became his number one fan, where a year later Ace learns about his existence from

Azul keeps Jamil from becoming more stressed about kalim, and Jamil uses his study guides to not go insane. Jamil also becomes a third enforcer for the monstro lounge, and knows EXACTLY how everything works, because hell he was there right next to Azul and helping him figure it all out when it was happening. He’ll catch someone trying to run from Azul and his contracts and toss them right back into the shark pit.

theyre also horrible. Like the most couple to ever couple. Jamil waits outside every housewarden meeting to walk with Azul, they always either bring breakfast or coffee for each other (they’ll switch it up on who brings it each day). Hell even Ace originally knew Azul as “Jamil’s boyfriend from octavinelle” during games.

If you don’t mind, which yandere twst boys do you see being most likely to exploit a mentally exhausted prefect to kidnap them?

To clarify, I think it can be argued that the prefect would be absolutely done with NRC after six life-or-death situations due to the overblots on top of being forced to adapt to education system of another world and putting up with the quality of students at NRC. You can’t tell me that a school full of villains would treat the only magicless student well. That just screams prime opportunity to manipulate the prefect into leaving NRC to go somewhere “safer” with one of the boys.

Once again, I’m just curious about your thoughts so don’t feel pressured to respond!

So now, not only is he taking better care of his dorm, with the help of his dorm. but whenever he sees you, he tries his best to check up on you.

How are you? Do you need help with any school assignments? etc.

they all had sweet intents at first but over time, you started to look drain.. like the life was sucked right out of you. when he asked ace and deuce, they confirmed that you were just tired of all the overblots and being crowley's lap dog. if only he knew how to help you...

at first he asked, trey and cater about how he should help you. they were mature enough to know, right?

cater, being cater, teased him on "having a crush on the perfect" or how he phrased it "oooohhh you are down bad!! lol" whatever that means...

Trey said that maybe ask the perfect if they do need help. but Riddle knows the perfect, they'll say they're fine even when they're not..

riddle felt lost and swallowed his pride as he dials his mother's number.

his mother was furious with the fact that riddle was facing an issue he cant fix himself but what she said about perfect shocked him.

with that... the call ended.

now that he wasn't being held by his mother's strings, he saw red...! no one talks about his perfect like that! but.. she has a point.. (which makes him more frustrated) if perfect is miserable here... maybe they shouldn't be attending NRC. but where would they go...?

when he thought about that, he realized he didn't really want to be away from you... you mean too much to him.

so later that day, he requested you to join him in his room, he need to talk to you. you agreed cause why would you be cautious with someone you trust, plus you were too tired to worry about how strange the request was. he gave you tea and asked if you were okay.. you said yes, just stressed with some classes and drank you tea. it tasted... off.

you feel yourself shrinking.. you were shrinking!

you looked at riddle and he was just smiling at you! he picked you up and placed you into a tea pot.

"it'll be okay, my dear. once i graduate and get us a nice home, we'll live our happy lives away from this stress and... toxic poison. But for now, you'll have to behave. i love you, my dear"

Whether you noticed him or not, Leona watches you run back and forth, from hallway to hallway. Kinda like a mouse running around for food but also staying hidden. Sometimes your running around helps him sleep or just ease him to a zen.

He'd normally wouldn't bat an eye because you're just a lap dog for that crow. But after time has past. He watched as you get slower, more exhausted. like you're pushing to prove something. It ercked him more than he would like. It hit too close to home for him.

When he finally was able to approach you on the matter, you looked like your soul was taken from you. Something within just snapped. He had enough of this. He made the call and suddenly, savanaclaw students came to your side and dragged you to leona's room. If you try to resist, Leona lucky told them to not hurt you too badly. But accidents happens. With their rough handling, you blacked out.

You wake up with a pretty collar around your neck and a chain attach to it? You look around and this is not your ramshackle room. You tried to sit up for a better look and get quick pulled down by the chain collar. It nearly broke your neck! But Leona would say you're being dramatic.

"Quick moving, im trying to sleep.."

You looked and saw Leona. He was laying on your chest and his legs were holding your legs down. He was like a strange weighted blanket. He wasn't in his school uniform but looks like he's in home attire?

"Where are we, leona..?"

You said, scared cause your literally in the hands of a lion that could kill you really quick..

He ears twitched and he looked up at you, bored. But he let out a smirk.

"Were home~"

It took you a minute to process what he said... home? Apparently your confused was evident on your face and leona let out a long sigh. He moved or above you, pining you down.

"Were at Sunset Savanna palace and WE are both gonna be staying here until I can trust you'll be a good obedient herbivore and stay by my side."

You were lost for words and unconsciously started to struggle under leona. Trying to push him off, kicking your legs, he got really annoyed when you accidentally pinched his tail with the bed and your foot.

His retaliation was to slam you down, knocking the wind out of your lungs. As you were gasping for air, he bit you really hard on your throat. You let out a silent scream. You thought you were going to die. This was your last moment of life.

Leona eventually let's go but quickly replacing his fangs with his hand.

"You WILL be obedient... do I make myself clear.."

That wasn't a question.. it was a demand.

Jamil hardly noticed you.. PERIOD.

He's busy not only taking care of scarabia but also their housewarden. While his housewarden takes the credit.. he hated it. And the fact his housewarden is so happy go lucky to him too. Makes his blood boil!!

Jamil truly believed that no one would feel his pain, his struggles.. because everyone sees Kalim "success" before anything!

You and Jamil were in the housewarden meeting, well on the outside of the office during the meeting. Jamil had to be there because Kalim and you were there for Crowley...

You both had a quick moment until you asked him hows he been? He lends his head back against the wall and sighs. You laugh at his actions.

"I get that, hehe"

His eye twitched.

"Do you now..?"

"Heh.. I really do. I'm here for Crowley, even tho he's the Headmage. He's like a spoiled brat with responsibility... and HE knowing more about this world, and the work he does for it, more than I do. But nooo... he still gives it to me!"

Jamil stares at you as you vent about your stress and struggles in NRC. He honestly thought that your life is harder than his! How on the seven do you-?

The doors to the office opens and you and jamil both stand up. The other housewardens walked off and kalim ran to jamil, like a parent picking up their kid in kindergarten.

Jamil sighs, seeing kalim's face makes him exhausting... he quickly looks at you, not turning his head to not make it obvious. You were walking into Crowley's office as he hands you a big stack of papers. He practically saw the light in your eyes fade... he HAS to do something.. but what?

A few days past and he just watched you get more exhausted. The more he watches you the more his feelings for you grows. And the more he watched you get degraded the more he wants to set the world on fire for you..

You couldn't hold a conversation as long as you use to now! What is Crowley making you do?

His hand balled into fist. Then he get an idea.. he's always wanted to do this but never thought about it, there will be come changes to the plan with you in it but it could work!

It was in the evening and he stopped by the Ramshackle dorm. With shaking hands he knocked. He can't believe he's gonna do it.

You answer and he quick took out a cloth from his pocket and covered your mouth. Your struggles were pointless with his strength and your muffled screams wasn't going to be heard by anyone since you practically lived in the middle of nowhere. You went limp and he smile grew.

You woke up, chained, gaged, and blindfolded. You didn't know where you were you were so scared.. but you hear foot steps...

"Good morning, my little desert flower~ im sorry I had to contain you like this, I can't risk anymore seeing you. But once we leave the Isle of Sages, ill let you see."

Lilia has been watching you since that first day you came here. How much chaos your presence cause, not including Grims presence, was amazing.

He'd be lying if he said he didn't feel something for you after that first day.

Whenever you're doing anything, he watches. And if hes busy, he has his bats watch you instead. They'll report any and everything about you. Including the dark circles appear under your eyes.

To say he was a little pissed... was an understandment. How dare the Crow hurt someone he cared for..

Lilia had half a mind to just get rid of Crowley with a big display of his remand.. but his kids will be scar so probably not.

He'd would think about if for a bit and told himself, why not just take you to live in Briar Valley? You could live there and he'd support you and care for you. You have a caring personal type with how much you take care of those first years.

Lilia stopped by Ramshackle dorm for a "surprised visit". You thought his strange behavior was just lilia being a strange guy? Meanwhile lilia felt like he was young again when he's with you. He felt shy and anxious. He was all fidgety and not making 100% eye contact with you.

Lilia fidgeting stop and if you had his super hear, you'd hear him grit his teeth for a moment.

He flips around suddenly and gets a unsettling smile.

You stared at Lilia but nodded for him to continue.

"Do you remember when I told you about the story of the Thorn Fairy? And how she put a curse on this cute little human~?"

With every word he spoke, he got closer to you.. you tried to make some distance but it quickly was put to a halt when lilia grabbed your arm.

"L-ilia.. You're hurting me.."

You tried to pull away but nothing can compete with Lilia's strength.

"Did I also tell you that with skill and focus, a powerful mage, can change the effect of such a powerful spell~?"

You're particularly trembling at this point. He got up really close to you and he shows you a small sewing needle.

"I promise, it won't be too long. Just long enough for everyone to stop looking for you~"

Now that you’re more…lucid, let’s fill in some of the gaps, shall we?

So, your soulmate. Very pretty, but not exactly the bastion of kindness and charity he’d presented himself as.

No, turns out your soul can only find its match in the kind of man who will mind control you and keep you prisoner so he can engineer the symptoms of an overblot in order to become Dorm Head, only to overblot himself after you steal his magic pen and bring in the Octavinelle trio to try and keep him from mind controlling anyone else.

Vil:

“I didn’t know who could accept the food you and Kalim brought from Scarabia, so I decided to give it to Azul-senpai for Monstro Lounge instead.” You take no small amount of glee in informing Viper-senpai. “He gave me this present to give to you in return. Apparently it’s a good luck charm that will guarantee bad finances for our opponents.”

“I thought there were to be no curses under this roof,” Schoenheit-senpai mutters into his water.

“No curses from you or anyone else in the NRC tribe, senpai.” You correct. “If Azul-senpai or anyone else outside Ramshackle wants to give us their support, it would be rude to turn it down, right?”

“Aah, beauté!” Hunt-senpai proclaims. “The bond between soulmates, allowing them to work in unison and support one another in their endeavors…truly, this is pure beauté! A hundred points!”

You’re not entirely sure how Hunt-senpai worked out Azul-senpai and Viper-senpai were soulmates, but you can’t quite stifle your snickering when Viper-senpai drops his present back into the bag with a muttered, “Sure, that’s what this is.”

Idia:

You realize something then.

In all your time at Night Raven College, not once have you ever seen the dorm head of Ignihyde in person. His tablet, yes, but never the boy behind the screen.

Not until now, that is.

“Fuck off is that your hair color.” You blurt. “That’s. That’s amazing, what color even is that? It’s so bright.”

Idia Shroud is making an odd, slightly wheezing noise that’s rising in pitch the longer he stares at you.

Malleus:

“I’d rather be wrong and be thought of as a weirdo who gives bad advice about their soulmate than right and let Tsunotaro get hurt because I didn’t say anything.” You insist, fingers squeezing around your mug. “I just—! I need him to be okay.”

Oh.

Oh, Seven.

You do need that, don’t you?

The thought of him not being okay, of being in danger, of being exposed to the very things you’ve been fighting so hard for so long…it steals the air from your lungs. It makes you feel sick to the pit of your stomach. It makes your mind recoil from the very concept.

You feel all those things about Ace and Deuce and Grim and Jack, of course, how could you not, but they’re so much less intense than when you think about Tsunotaro, clumsy, oblivious, proud, sweet Tsunotaro getting in any way involved with an overblot. Not because your friends don’t matter to you, of course they do, of course, but—!

Floyd's Nickname Analysis

We all know that they can be correlated to how they look or act, but what if they were also actions or personality traits that each person has?

Riddle- "goldfish" or "kingyo"

He's red (Trigger for Floyd). He feels bad that Riddle is trapped in a "fishbowl" and hopes for him to explore the ocean. Can get violent, unlike what he seems (goldfish eat other fish; they can be at the top of the food chain depending on what fish you consider)

Ace- "crab" or "kani"

He's spiky and red (hair and personality-wise). Eels eat them; they are great prey for them (like in the 3rd arc, with the contracts)

Deuce- "mackerel" or "saba"

Mackerels are called "blue-backed fish", which spoil easily (In Japanese it can be translated to "Fast legs". Mixed with his track/field club). In France, I think, April Fools can be called April Fish day. Mackerels can be caught a lot in April. He is kind of... Stupid (Fool)

Cater- "snapper" or "hanadai" (This is from the wiki, which is correct, but I'll explain why I can't translate this correctly)

I can't translate his name because there isn't an actual fish; there are tons of fish that are called hanadai (just to name a few; akaobihanadai, sujihanadai, nagahanadai), kind of like a sub-family (different personalities). He is the only one so far who has a more vague nickname.The ones I think about have a tall nose, which reminds me of Pinocchio, whose nose gets taller the more they lie. They are pretty though.

Some of them are called “sea goldies” (a clue about how he could have been ex-dorm leader)

They eat shrimp... Maybe one day he'll hurt us

Trey- "sea turtle" or "umi kame"

They're smart, and they can also go on land (Secret?). He's the father of Hearts, and turtles and Disney remind me of a certain sea turtle in the Nemo series. And I think turtles are smart (glasses maybe?)

Leona- "Todo" or "Sea Lion"

As it's called, he is a lion. Sea lions can go on land... I wonder if he knows something outside of the ocean (Twisted Wonderland)..? Reminds me of Grim in a way.

Ruggie- "sharksucker" or "kobanzame"

He's always with Leona, like them with sharks. They eat scraps, and look out for a chance to strike, like for food.

Jack- "sea urchin" or "uni"

He's spikey with his hair. He's different than he appears; Sea urchins look inedible, but they are rich and creamy. I mean rich as with knowledge and mild as in personality in his case. And he is from the north, where I think good sea urchins are harvested. I wonder if the orange has anything to do with his dorm color. I can't say this for sure, but rich as in money.

Jamil- "sea snake" or "umihebi"

He's a snake. And like one, he is pretty, but with poison. I wonder if Floyd knows about the snakes' hint in the mirror. Anyways, I think Floyd thinks Jamil is similar to Jade (Sea snakes can be mistaken for eels sometimes)

Kalim- "Sea Otter" or "Rakko"

I wonder if his hair was brown, and not white... They are gourmets and can't eat without their favorite rock (Jamil). And he is hunted down because he is rich... (Sea otters were hunted down for their pellets). The turban reminds me of the seaweed they wrap around.

Epel- "guppy"

Not good with bettas, and loose to them. They are sensitive with temperature; Epel get heated up sometimes and is usually cool (faking his personality)

Vil: "Betta"

They get tired after flaring too much (overblot; with the issue with Neige). Really pretty, and aggressive. Not good with mirrors because of this (Mira with Vil)

Rook: "black-tailed gull" or "umineko"

He's in the sky, compared to the ocean. They can get wild and fast when they want. He's also a hunter (they hunt fish). He also has cat eyes. (they are literally called sea cats in japanese)

Idia- "firefly squid" or "hotaruika"

They glow like his hair. That's all I can say as for now

Ortho- "sea angel" or "clione"

He is an angle, but they can change rapidly with their looks to be quite... terrifying.

Malleus- "Nudibranch" or "Umiushi"

He's kind of cute with his personality, actually, he's more fluffy than cute though. They have something that looks like 2 horns.

Lilia- "flapjack octopus" or "mendako"

Like Azul, he is strong, unlike his looks. His hair reminds me of a flapjack octopus.

Silver:"jellyfish" or "kurage"

They're usually kind of white. They can hurt a lot when they attack. Unlike the people in his dorm, he is human so his life expectancy is short compared to them.

Sebek- "crocodile" or "wani"

Probably a reference to Sobek, the Egyptian god. He does remind us of a crocodile/alligator; he eats a lot, his phase in battle, etc.

The ones he adds -kun to (Cater, Jamil, Rook, Sam, and Trey) are a bit... troublesome in some way. I think Floyd sees Twisted Wonderland as the Ocean if you couldn't tell, so if they can go on land, they either know something or correlated in some way to MC/the lands beyond it.

his treatment of kalim, while it is a two way street, but he complains that kalim never does anything for himself, when its j*mil who never lets kalim do such. Kalim is probably the most nicest character, and j*mils midirected anger pisses me off so bad 😭, especially since j*mil could’ve honestly talked to kalim about it.

While it might not be as socially acceptable, it would be for him because its KALIM he wants to talk too. Instead of immediately resorting to taking him out of the equation he could’ve just talked to him, im sure kalim would’ve been open to it !! 😭😭 j*mils overblot also was just hella annoying 😔 YOU can like him, and ofc think of the situation otherwise, just me personally i didnt lkke how it was handled 😭😔

i do like his design though, and his development and concept is something i enjoy, just not how it was handled 😔

He's 17

HELPP LMAO but anyways. Yeah, all of that is totally valid and I actually don't know that much about Jamil but I do think the hate is misdirected but at the same time, i believe its understandable why. I think the reason why he hates Kalim is because of his obliviousness to the situation they're in and also obviously because he's always after him.

"His parents kept telling him he's under Kalim. Why not hate them?"

Yeah his parents forced him to do that but that's HIS parents. The one he loves. That's family and he knows their situation.

"Why couldn't he hate Kalim's parents then?"

No doubt he holds some type of resentment for them too idk

But I don't think he is as close with kalim's parents to even feel that much hatred as he is with Kalim. Like yk you don't even know that person well enough to even hate them.

I do think he does hold resentment for them but I believe since he's more near Kalim and is always told:

"Kalim goes first"

"Kalim wins."

"Kalim is above you."

"Kalim."

"KALIM."

He's told that constantly and they don't mention "Oh his parents are better" or smth

His parents probably said "Kalim's family is above us" but I do think "Kalim is first" or smth like that has been consistently said to him that it's been ingrained in his mind.

Also imagine ur parents putting another kid above you, would you not hate that kid? I mean yeah you'll hate your parents but also that kid too.

Like the sheer resentment and confusion you'll feel because "what makes that kid better than me?" "What's so much better?" "Aren't I better?" "Do you not love me?"

LIKE IMAGINE WHAT JAMIL FELT WHEN HIS PARENTS WERE LIKE "don't do that!!! Kalim needs to win!!"

And also he's been doing shit for Kalim since they were born so I think he's just doing his job when he keeps doing shit himself and doesnt let Kalim do it 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ idk I literally don't know but it's silly but he consistently does it so Kalim could look good. Everything he does is for Kalim to look good like he's taught.

And that's kind of the reason why he went to NRC so he could escape from Kalim and focus on becoming a cool wizard but Kalim's dad found that and literally shoved Kalim into it too, ruining Jamil's freedom. Crowley got paid a small loan of million madols and made Kalim dormleader.

Yeah it's not Kalim's fault but it deepens Jamil's hate for him because HE worked hard but Kalim's daddy pays the school and boom, Kalim's dormleader.

I think that's why he says Kalim's mere existence makes him defer everything for him. He has to put off winning a board game, he has to put off competitions, he has to put off getting good grades, he doesnt become dormleader for Kalim to look good.

And the fact that he had to put off EVERYTHING for Kalim. I mean yeah they could've talked but JAMIL ISNT VERY OPEN LIKE THAT. Kalim would really love it if Jamil was open about it but Jamil was always told to hold off his tongue. HE'S BEEN TAUGHT THAT.

I LOVE KALIM TOO don't get me wrong I love Kalim but hating on Jamil is a GRRRRRRRRRRRRR for me like GRRRRRRRR

First doesn't really see the reason behind it, thinks it's cool but doesn't see himself necessarily asking for help

He tends to like using everything on pen and paper still, so if he has to write emails or do things online, he may ask you there. In return, he helps you with things like snail mail (his handwriting's beautiful btw)

I feel like overall he would find it to be cool and will ask you about your abilities just to learn more about you. However, he won't be needing your powers anytime soon (just more simple online help would be enough)

Leona

He will only ask for your help in the most basics of tasks like turning on or off the lights or putting his phone on "do not disturb"

Despite his lazier attitude, he's pretty alert. He knows for example if you're going to use your ability when doing homework (will ask you randomly) and he learns how you are able to manipulate electronics without asking you a lot of questions

I feel like Leona would've liked you for who you were whether or not he knew about your abilities, but nonetheless he does find it to be a pretty cool (and useful) one

Azul

He really likes your abilities and will ask you to help him create some kind of digital ordering app or reservation platform for his lounge hahaha

However he does also like learning from you about your abilities and perhaps about electronics in general (you might have a lot of knowledge on them just because you use them so often). He's still not the best when it comes to online platforms, so you can definitely help him there

He finds your ability to be fascinating! While he himself won't be needing as much help as perhaps some others, he does appreciate the little help you give him when running the lounge's digital side

Jamil

Will ask you how your ability came to be since it's really new to him. He likes learning about others anyways, so it's a nice thing for him to hear about!

Jamil might ask if you can hack into systems and if you can. For some reason I can see him going after scammers that try to target Kalim's computer haha. It might be kind of fun to prank them too

The vice dorm leader isn't the best with technology so you might want to help him out when you can. He'll deeply appreciate it, perhaps he'll make you some of your favorite foods in return!

Vil

You can turn off or block people that try to message him? Like all the crazy fans he has or his annoying manager? Great. He'll ask for your help

Vil's more tech-savvy than he looks, mainly because he has to keep his online presence so up to date. He however, likes how you can manipulate communications. He also likes that you can change traffic lights so whenever you two are going somewhere, expect him to ask you to use it

Though he may find your ability to be super useful, he still feels bad when asking for your help. He'll show you a lot of gratitude whenever you do end up helping him with something, perhaps in the form of a really expensive perfume haha

Idia

Probably the only one that uses your ability the most but you also like using it with him so it's a win-win situation

The internet speed in his room is like crazy high, some other Ignihyde students will ask how that's even possible. Like how can it just be Idia's room and specifically only when you're around haha

He would've been too shy to ask you for help at first, but seeing how he looked curious about your abilities you decided to help. Honestly now you two use it whenever you two play games together or watch anime (it's very convenient!)

talking of family day/parent teacher conferences at NRC, think about how much people would want to pick a fight with riddle's mom and maybe even jamil's parents. crowley would hide it but riddle mom and jamil parents would go full karen mode if they found out about their sons overblotting too. they would be even more unbearable than usual omg

Heartslabyul forms a human barrier around Riddle 😇 Cater clones have to hold Adeuce back from doing or saying something to offend Mama Rosehearts (even though they so badly want to punch her and/or publicly tell her off). TREY HAS TO AWKWARDLY MEET HER GAZE ("Hello, ma'am. Nice to see you again?") ... I don't know if Mama Rosehearts remembers him or not, but if she does then she'll probably make a face or comment that Riddle is still hovering around bad influences from his youth.

It was so sad seeing the total change in Riddle's personality when he talks about confronting his mom during winter break 💦 He just turns into a shell of himself... (I'm not exactly a fan of Riddle shouting or enforcing his will on others, but such a drastic change in his character when his mom is around... 😭 That's truly an indication of the toxicity he grew up with and how much his mother's teachings were drilled into him.) We never really did see the aftermath of that winter break conversation (if they had it at all), so we have no idea how Mama Rosehearts reacted. I doubt she would have heard her son out; people tend to be set in their ways. If that's the case, would Riddle return to being that meek, obedient boy in the presence of his mom? Or would being at NRC with his dorm mates and his friends give him more courage to hold his ground against some of her demands?? 🤔

I feel bad for Jamil too because he's also in a situation where he has to act docile around his parents (or else be scolded and told to behave). Constantly repressing your real thoughts and feelings can take its toll on someone, especially for as long as Jamil has been doing it... I also distinctly get the impression that the Viper parents will fuss just as much about Kalim (or maybe even more) than their own son?? (Like asking how he's been, asking if there's anything they can do for Kalim, has Jamil been serving him well, etc.)

My hope would be that Kalim, now knowing what Jamil's been bottling up, holds his tongue about the winter break OB incident, but would still be able to speak up on behalf of Jamil. As mentioned in episode 4, there's no way Kalim can make a system which has existed for several generations disappear by just saying, "Jamil doesn't like it, so can you give him his freedom now?" However, I do think Kalim's sociability (and his status, of course) can help smooth over any tension between Jamil and his family. Maybe he'd say something like, "Jamil's been doing a great job looking after me! You don't need to worry about him. He's doing everything he can, so... I'm gonna give it my all too!" And only Kalim and Jamil would know what he's really talking about: that Jamil has said he's going to work hard and be his own person, and that Kalim wants to work just as hard to be his rival and meet him on an equal playing field.

I see Mama Rosehearts going Karen mode more than the Viper parents (though I do think the Viper parents would worry about Kalim's safety and get upset with their son for his involvement in attempting to harm him, whatever his reasons were for it). There is the classic Karen entitlement to how Mama Rosehearts behaves, but the Vipers seem to be more... humble? Or at least not as self-centered... though I guess the trade-off there is that other people (Jamil) bear the emotional burden on their behalf. They're both "evils", I guess--just in their own ways.

Yes From what you just said, take the 2nd Halloween event i was pretty annoyed with the fact that only ace sort of scolded mal, like wth no one cares? No one will speak their minds? So yeah I feel like it will end like that but on a bigger scale, 'poor him he didn't knew better ' huuu no, i don't think so

In general all OB guys have gone basically free, i don't mean expel them but ... Nobody is going to do something? The one I've seen more ' punished for his actions' is Jamil bc Scarabia sort of turned their backs at him (which later got fixed but at least we saw some consequences)

FOR REAL. I'm pretty sure I already talked about it here, but in case I haven't, the second halloween event ending was complete bs. I hate how the ghosts, Lilia, and Malleus basically kinda gaslit everyone into believing that everyone else was in the wrong when in actuality everyone was completely valid in their belief that they were fighting for their life. And everyone else just apologized? Nah, be fucking for real. The second halloween event kinda a flop for that. Ace was the only real one in that entire event because he didn't stand for that crap. Not only that, but he was genuinely so worried for the mc and Grim!

As for the overblots, they've been getting increasingly worse. Like, Riddle was bad enough and he was the first one. So let's do a review, shall we? Spoilers all the way from chapter one to what we know of chapter seven.

Riddle. At first, I used to think his meltdown was pretty tame. That is, until I read part of the fight depicted in the manga. The fight in the manga goes way more into detail. I skimmed over it, but basically Cater was stabbed (thankfully it was one of his clones) and I remember Riddle throwing one of the roses bushes at either Trey, Ace, or the MC. The manga shows the fights way better than the game, and it becomes obvious that Riddle tries to hit everyone lethally more than once. However, despite that and destroying his dorm's garden, he's let off with his only punishment being to apologize and to bake a tart. Really? He almost killed people and that's it? And that's just the first one! But, it's a lot more tame than the others.

Leona takes it up a tiny notch. From here on out, I can't go into detail about the fight itself because the fighting is best depicted in the manga and the manga isn't here yet, but we have the game to go off of. We know for a fact that Leona was ready to suffocate Ruggie and even turn him to sand. Hell, if I remember right, he even turned a tiny part of his skin to sand. And he planned to injure an entire stadium if necessary. But all that was done was "oh, because you nearly killed people and your closest friend, your team isn't allowed to play in the tournament anymore" BUT to make things worse, the other teams chime in like "nah, let them play, because we want to beat them." WHAT? People nearly died??

I think Azul stays about the same level as Leona, if not lower. Leona was ready to put innocent citizens at risk, while Azul knocked students around his dorm unconscious(?) after stealing their magic. But afterwards, he just changed his scamming ways to be more low-key and chose to return the photograph he had MC and their gang steal. That was literally it. Like, bruh. I imagine he nearly killed people too, but it wasn't specified so I can't say for sure. But really?

Jamil finally takes it up another notch. I think he was seriously hoping the fall from his hit killed Kalim and co when he sent them flying. That, or they just wouldn't survive when that far out into the realm, but I can't be sure on this one. Then he hypnotizes everyone in the dorm. Again, like all the other fights, I can only assume there were multiple lethal attacks that weren't depicted well in the game. Even though it seems like he faced the most punishment with his dorm turning their back on him, idk, it didn't feel like enough.

Vil is probably the one I sympathize with the least. Before he even overblotted, he tried to poison and murder Neige but Rook nearly took his place. I'd say it's very safe to say he nearly killed MC, Grim, Ace, Deuce, Rook, Epel, Jamil, and Kalim by how roughed up everyone was after the battle. He also thought if he got rid of everyone else then he'd be the most beautiful, insinuating that he would harm or kill others. Right after overblotting, he says, "The suffering won't last long. You'll stop breathing soon" and later "Do you really think any who look upon my ugly form is allowed to live?" Yeah, he was definitely aiming to kill. And if Jamil and others hadn't discreetly evacuated the stadium, people would've died. Afterwards he apologized and paid money to the team (the reward money he owed for the loss in the contest), but that was kinda it.

Idia... oh boy. I sympathize with him the most by far, but he didn't get the punishment he should have gotten. Where do I even start with him? To put it simply, if the other guys were fires with ranging heat levels, Idia was a fucking forest fire. This guy and his little brother almost caused the destruction of the world, and that's not an exaggeration. First his family's company basically invaded the school and planned to erase their minds of the event afterwards. Not his fault, but he did go along with it. Then he emotionally tormented the previously overblotted guys after the company kidnapped them by allowing those trials that showcased fights with their closest friends. Finally, he planned to release all of the thousands of phantoms on the island which would have caused world-wide destruction. But then he was somehow still allowed to attend school like normal after an apology or something? Honestly, it was such a shitty minor punishment that I actually forgot most of it, because then they were all in the living room playing video games with him like he didn't just nearly put the world on the verge of armageddon. This ending annoyed me the most so far. Emphasis on so far.

Malleus, oh god, I can already tell that his ending will probably piss me off the most. Like, how are you going to top the disaster Idia and Ortho nearly wrought? Well, shit is already hitting the fan in his chapter, and it is concerning considering how early it is for him to be overblotting. Honestly, like Vil, I can't say I sympathize with him too much. But based on the other chapters, it'll probably end with everyone being a-okay with the fact that Malleus cursed the entire island. Honestly, if it were me, I would not be able to forgive Malleus for that. And I know he's gonna get away with it and have little to no repercussions because he's even more influential than Idia.

But now that we look at that kid they look so ...dull there is no light in there eyes they don't laugh or smile like other kids they don't want to play or cause chaos.....just what is wrong with this kid

To be quite honest about this i don't think he noticed your weird personality at first i mean this guy was 'taught' by his mother manners so he thought that kid was the same which was good in his thinking that they aren't a rulebreaker

But boy was he wrong

you didn't just make a mont blanc cake and bring to the unbirthday party but you told him he was wrong (with a very blank face that made heartslabyul wonder your sanity)

After the overblot incident did he realize that yes this kid is traumatized for a reason

He becomes much quieter around trying to not scare you and always invites you to unbirthday parties

He knows that you must have lived a hard childhood and he is trying to make the rest of it happier for you

Hmm it seems that crowley had completely lost it....

At the ceremony he carried you and took you to corner he said nothing but every now and then he would yawn( leona may not like children but he stand and watch kids getting hurt physically or mentally and i won't take criticism for it)

At the beginning leona thought you were just one of those rare that are quiet oh how he wish cheka was like that he is lying

But then you officially met and stepped on his tail wish angered him he originally was going to scare so you would run but he saw how you looked at him with those....empty eyes there wasn't fear but leona thought that there wasn't any emotion in them anyway

After his overblot he noticed how you would stare at his ears and your hands would twitch

"Oi herbivore why are you staring"

"!!...s-sorry"

"...come over here"

No one knows but he let's you pet him and if you're sleepy he will cuddle you like a mama lion protecting it's cub and if anyone is making so much as a whisper while you're sleeping they will find leona glaring at them

He did feel bad when he heard the eels saying you accidentally hurt yourself but not bad enough to let you win

Now when i say your plan surprised azul i mean he was shocked i mean it's not everyday you meet a kid that can make a plan as good as this!!

After his overblot he started to treat you better than before still shady but won't use it on you

You didn't hear me say this but when you visit monstrou lounge he ALWAYS gives you a table beside the aquarium why?because scientist said that beautiful views can make a child's trauma lessen and he also give you 50% of

In the ceremony when leona agreed on giving kalim the kid (which leaona didn't want to do but he wont admit it) he talked to them about half of his life he talked about his siblings he talked about his parents he talked about the parties he made before and he talked about his bestfriend jamil

Let's be honest he wouldn't even notice your weird behavior being to caught up with telling you everything he knows

He would invite you to every party he made much to grim's delight he would notice you sitting on the cushion in the corner and talk to you and tell you to try jamil's food

After the overblot nothing really changed he was already treating you kindly and he would continue to do so

Okay after vil saw the child his 'respect' to crowley decreased

What the hell does he wants them to catch the weasel like hello he is wearing heels he did his nails, makeup and hair perfectly he isn't going to ruin them or his reputation for this

Okay tell me that when vil realize that leona is holding the kid he won't tease him we all know he would but if he is honest leona earned a little bit of his respect when he was protecting the kid

Vil notices a lot of things about other people easily so he noticed that this kid isn't like the others and how there eyes looks like the void i mean he likes how the quiet you are and how you do what you are told but he knows something isn't right

When VDC began and how crowley MADE you let them live at your dorm and make you their manger let's say that whatever was left of his 'respect' to crowley disappeared like this a kid it is bad enough the way you treat and the place you make them live at

After the overblot vil way towards you didn't change much but he was a little different cause before he was like nice to you now though he spoils you like spoils you rotten oh you like this plush? it's yours you like this brand of chocolate? he gives you a container full of it and when it's done he will give you more

Okay legitimately this guy saw you and was like 'hm? who brought this chibi with them'

'Wait?THEY HAVE A CAT TOO?!?!"

when he finally believed you aren't a chibi he then he realized how messed up this was for a kid to be thrown between people to whisper about how magicless student is here much less a child

Okay honestly you will first ever meet him at S.T.Y.X cause he is 24/7 in his room and when you do meet her didn't notice anything weird about you cause you were mad he kidnapped your freinds he may have noticed your eyes not sure

When you told him you wanted grim he laughed so hard cause you were pouting cutely while saying it he couldn't take you seriously it took rook glaring at him and saying that 'trickster wants to meet their adorable feliene nothing is wrong with that monsieur' you know with that terrifying smile

After the overblot i guess he started to see you as a little sibling cause you looked dull he wanted to lighten your mood a little so he would invite you to gaming nights and anime nights in hopes of seeing your smile

Okay he wasn't at the ceremony cause he wasn't um you know and lilia wanted to lighten his mood so he told him about you which piqued his interest

Now the first time you met was at ramshackle he saw a kid on the ground and remembered the kid lilia told him about he thought of disappearing so he doesn't scare you but then he took a good look at you boy was he surprised that kid looks lifeless

"..hello child of man"

"..."

"Um who are you?"

"!!!"

He was surprised that someone doesn't know about him to say the least and what surprised him most that you weren't scared even if you don't know malleus has this aura that makes whoever is infort of him on the verge of tears

You two clicked so good together you both were calm and every once in a while made a small conversation and malleuse really adored you and thought about asking lilia to adopt you so you can officially be siblings

"Lilia adopt the child of man"

"Huh-malleus i can't adopt any one like that"

"But you adopted silver and sebek when you found them"

"It was malleus.."

"Oh a shame.."

🦁Savanaclaw Arc : 3/10🦁

I will be spoiling everything here, so if you don't want to be spoiled, don't keep reading this. But come back once you have!💛 Also, I put a poll at the bottom, so after you read this would you pretty please vote on it?

I really wanted to like this one, I really did. I wanted to watch the sexy lion man go through an arc where he learns to become a better person, but sadly no. I guess I'll start this off on a positive note before I start complaining about everything else.

‎‎‎‎‎‎‎💛The Good Stuff💛

I think it's cool that we first meet a lot of new characters in the beginning. And if they're people we've met, we get to flesh them out a bit more than they were in chapter 1 or the prologue. Cater, Ruggie, Kalim, Jamil, Floyd, Jade, and Jack were people who we either didn't know, or didn't know that well.

I love when Cater tells the play that he'll protect them if Jack tries to bite. Sir, I'm going to pretend to be scared so you'll protect me.💛

I like the Ruggie part regarding the sandwich in the beginning. I was spoiled about his signature spell before watching this, but despite that, it was still cool and genuinely funny to see Ruggie "trade" with Grim. It really did get a good laugh outta me.

The Adeuce shenanigans slay me. Every. Time. Even when they're separated, they're still hilarious.

The moment when Jamil covers Kalim's mouth right as he starts talking about Jamil's signature spell, then gets embarrassed once Kalim asked why he did that. I love Jamil x Kalim(non-romantically).💛

Floyd and Jade chasing down the main party was both terrifying and funny

Lilia slayed me right before Leona's overblot. Everything he said was brutal but true and I love it.

Leona's overblot design, while not my favorite, is super cool. I like it a lot.

CHEKA. Oh my god I love him. Not my favorite special character but dammit, I love this little angel. He's sooooo cute, I CANT.💛💛💛💛

The signature spells, while most aren't my favorite, I like for the most part. Ruggie's, then Leona's, the Jack's. Something about the way Jack's wolf form was drawn looks wrong. Something about his legs isn't proportional to the rest of his body, and I don't like it.

🦁The Bad Stuff (AKA everything else)🦁

I have a bone to pick with Jack real quick. I know you didn't want Leona to hate you because he's your idol or whatever, and you didn't want Savanaclaw to be disqualified, but literally this entire chapter could've been much shorter if you gave the main group(Cater, Ace, Deuce, Riddle, Grim, MC) this information earlier. We wouldn't need to go through the hassle of spying on students. This chapter probably would've been an hour shorter if you had just helped us out. Or, alternatively, you could've told Crowely. He's useless so I doubt he would've done anything, but it would've be worth a try.

I swear to god, Leona lost braincells for his own chapter. He wants to win the tournament against Diasomnia, so instead of immediately trying to hurt their chances, you go hurt students who are NOT in Diasomnia?! WHY? What sense does that make? Leona, you can play chess, something that requires so much strategy and forethought to play, let alone win at. So in what world would you not be able to make a coherent plan. I'm not the best at planning, but I could make a plan that makes more sense than what he did.

And on a similar note, why would you think that a stampede would kill Malleus? I get why from a theme standpoint, because Lion King obviously. Plot-wise though? That doesn't make sense. You really thought that Malleus wouldn't use magic to escape. Seriously?

I don't vibe with Leona's backstory, I just don't. I sympathize and feel bad for him and everything, but I don't know. I just don't connect with his backstory like I do for others.

I definitely find this one to be the worst of the books, but I still love my Savanaclaw bois.💛

Jamil never got to have anything to himself. From the day he was born to the day he died, he knew that he had to share everything with members of the al-Asim family, specifically with Kalim. If his parents got him a game for his birthday, he’d have to share it with Kalim, which usually wound up with him just giving Kalim the game, teeth clenched in a forced smile. If he bought a snack for himself, Kalim got the lion’s share of it.

Nothing was ever his.

Jamil had a rather bad habit of staring at you. You two were in the same homeroom, so you shared classes together too, and he found himself looking in your direction more and more. His mouth would get dry when you talked and his heart slammed against his ribcage, and he already knew what the feeling was. And if your starry-eyed looks at him and insistence on spending time with him were anything to go by, he knew you felt the same.

Which was why it was all the more baffling that, when you finally confessed, Jamil’s expression remained neutral and in a bland voice, he said, “I’m sorry, but I don’t think it would work out.”

You two didn’t really talk after that, and Jamil did his best to not even glance your way now.

Given Kalim’s generally obliviousness and self-absorption, Jamil was quite surprised when Kalim brought up the fact that the two of you barely interacted any more after being attached at the hip. Maybe it was the wake-up call after Jamil’s overblot or maybe Kalim just got lucky in his observation. Jamil refused to tell him until Kalim bothered him so much about it that Jamil said, “I said no because I knew, inevitably, I’d have to share them with you.”

Kalim looked at him like he was crazy. “What?”

“I’ve had to give you everything, Kalim, and it wouldn’t have surprised me if I introduced them to my parents and they said, ‘Oh, what a lovely partner, Jamil! Perfectly suited for Kalim.’”

Kalim just shook his head. “I don’t think your parents would do that since Y/n’s a person and not the last bite of cake.” With a seriousness Jamil rarely saw, Kalim continued, “Go explain it to them since you’ve both been miserable for the last few weeks.”

You were startled when Jamil asked to speak with you after class following several weeks of, well, not speaking. So as you stood across from him in the empty hallway, shifting your weight, you asked quietly, “What is this about, Jamil?”

And he told you everything. You didn’t know what to feel after and all you could say was, “Did you really think your parents would say that?”

“It’s always a possibility,” Jamil said. “I couldn’t do that to you.”

Suddenly, you felt the rage and frustration from the weeks of silence from Jamil burn in your chest. It came out of you sharply and bitterly as you said, “You could have told me, Jamil, and let me have a say instead of rejecting me and pushing me away!”

“I—”

“That is my choice! My decision to make, not yours! Not anyone else’s! Mine!” Massaging your temples, you drew in a deep breath and said, softer this time, “I’d do anything for you, Jamil, I’d weather anything with you and for you.”

“It’s not just about the sharing,” Jamil sighed, arms crossed. “My family’s been in service to the Asims for generations, and it’s not stopping anytime soon. With me, you’re locking yourself into a lifetime of service and of waiting on people.”

“You’re not listening to a word I’m saying.” You took a step closer, encouraged by the fact that Jamil made no movement backwards. You continued until you stood only a foot away from him and said, “Everything about you is amazing to me. I don’t care if we’d have to serve Kalim’s family forever, as long as I was with you.”

She likes to stick to more common ones, like love, dear and darling. She enjoys watching your face darken and get warm whenever she uses them.

“Yes darling, thanks for asking. Have you though?” She replied cheerfully, Ace and Grim groaning in the background while Deuce looks away, out of respect for your privacy or he’s flustered or something, she doesn’t know.

Speaking of flustered… you started stuttering, your face getting warm. Damn pet name!

”Yeah I’ve eaten…” You looked away shyly. Yuuka gripped were her heart would be at your cuteness. Jesus she was so lucky!

Neither of you tolerate anyone bad mouthing your beloved.

Once she heard some boys shit talking her, she ignored it as always but then she saw you walking up to them and tell them off. When they wouldn’t relent and continued to speak out of their asses, you punched them. One got a bloody nose while the other got a black eye. Nice! She knew you’ll feel bad later so she swooped in and whisked you away to calm you down.

She is literally dating a girl boss! You were calm and somewhat confident and could kick ass too. Are you two soulmates???

Dates were either at cute little cafes or you two would be training judo or something, she likes teaching you!

When you two encounter overblots, you two are very coordinated and work well together to defeat the poor student. You two are often comforting each other after all the stress. You hate seeing Yuuka cry…

No overblot, ADeuce, Grim, Crowley or the entirety of Twisted Wonderland can get in between you two and your buckets of love for each other. They can just try, they will get their asses handed to them!

Kalim and ADHD

@weilaverdui suggested putting on tumblr all the stuff I felt was too long for the author's notes, so here. Some Kalim thoughts from my drafts. It is, as usual, only speculation for the game, but canon for Aquarium, and something that emerged during my work on chapter 23.

I do think that Kalim’s ADHD contributes heavily to the way he comes across as perpetually lighthearted and silly to a point of other characters feeling like his attitude is inappropriate at times.

We have inability to form habits, inability to parse social cues (all while being around Jamil, who operates largely on routine, planning and subtlety). We have the fact that he’d never before had reason to try and manage it (him likely never being punished for it is a good thing; him never facing any accountability whatsoever… not so much). We have impulsiveness that to him is completely logical but that for others comes out of nowhere.

And it would play so much into how Kalim treated Jamil before the overblot and his inability to notice anything was wrong; it's not just naivety and trust, but also the difficulty Kalim has reading people's behaviors and keeping track of them. So maybe Jamil behaves a little weirdly today? Except Kalim can't quite remember how things were yesterday, or a month before - and surely if something was really wrong, Jamil would say it.

Meanwhile Jamil, a whole different brand of mental illness, just bottles things up. And it becomes a cursed circle until things eventually explode.

Despite how happy Kalim is, I always get a little sad when writing him, because while his upbringing allowed him to have a happy childhood, it also traumatized him in ways he will probably never fully realize.

It might have made his life easier, in some ways - it's hard to dwell on all the assassination attempts when they don't exist unless you deliberately remember about them. It also probably made navigating the political climate of the Asim estate an absolute nightmare - not that Kalim probably gave it much conscious thought, at least so far.

I'm actually curious what will happen if Kalim's mind, for once, gets stuck on something bad. He's had plenty of those experiences - from his own near-deathes to Jamil's - but in canon, he only ever focuses on the nice memories or bizarre, but harmless ideas that wander into his head. I don't really know if I'd get to explore that - Aquarium is not Kalim's story, after all - but I'd love to if I can spare words for it.

I'm currently in the planning stage for some of the events far in the future of Aquarium, including Kalim's 18th birthday celebration. It makes me consider all the implications of the tidbits of worldbuilding we've been given and how much it had to fall onto Jamil's shoulders to remember who's friend and who's foe and what's going on at the estate. I guess Kalim's father might have tried to teach Kalim something, but that would inevitably run into the wall of Kalim's complete lack of interest in politics of any kind.

And when Kalim's not interested, good luck getting anything stay in his head.

I'm guessing my interpretation of palace politics (I know they're not technically royalty, but they're filthy rich enough for it to apply) is going to be inevitably colored by all the Tang dynasty research I'm having to do for my translations. I don't know if TWST intended for the level of scheming that's going to bring, but if they didn't, they really shouldn't have made Kalim victim of all those assassination attempts.

It's going to be one hell of a party, let me tell you.
