Love and Devotion | Various Characters

How do they react to you randomly ( or not so randomly ) professing your love for them? ( Or vice versa )

Characters: Yun, Zeno, Meguru Bachira, and Seishiro Nagi

Warnings: Nothing major, but for Zeno's part, they're very vague spoilers to the manga!

A/N: I don't know what this is honestly, but if I find the motivation and if you guys like this, I'll make a part two with different characters! :)

"I love you so much. Please don't ever leave me," You confessed to the beautiful genius before you, face hot and your body drenched in sweat under thick blankets.

"Stop saying stupid things," The genius in question replies, not sparing you a glance as he worked on your medicine, hands moving swiftly and meticulously as he mixed the herbs in a bowl, "You have more important things to worry about."

"But you are what's most important to me," You shamelessly retort, "Please, don't leave me.. I love you so much..I'd probably cry if you left me.."

"Calm down, I'm not leaving any time soon," He replies plainly before mumbling, "Not that I could if I wanted to. Knowing you, if I left you'd probably try to brush off your illness like an idiot and end up dying somehow.."

"Do you promise?" You ask and this time, Yun turns to look at you, his frowning face meeting your expectant one.

You truly are stupid, he thinks.

"It's going to take a while for me to finish your medicine so you should rest until then," His eyes break away from yours to return back to the bowl in front of him, "I'll wake you when I finish."

"I'm not sleeping until you promise me you'll stay."

"Fine, I promise I'll stay. Now get some rest."

"I don't believe you when you say it like that."

"Well that was the only time I'm saying it so you'll have to deal with it."

"Can't you be the tiniest bit romantic sometimes. I really think it would benefit our relationship if—"

"Go to sleep or I will leave."

"Y'know, the miss can stop poking Zeno now," Zeno said cheerfully only to be once again poked in the arm by you, who still seemed to be rather awestruck.

Understandably so. I mean, how can you not after what happened..

"Sorry.." You mumble out, reluctantly letting go of his arm, "It's just.. Even though I saw your powers with my own eyes, it's hard to believe that you're really okay."

As the gruesome events of the other day replayed over and over in your head, your fist clench uncomfortably tight, your nails digging into the skin of the palm of your hand. Zeno's eyes soften at the sight.

Slowly, he takes your balled fist into his hands, using his fingers to gently pry your fingers apart. Once done, he grabs your other hand and intertwines both of his hands with yours.

"Do you feel this? Zeno's holding your hand, you feel that?" He asks, his smile widening when you eventually nod your head.

"See, Zeno's just fine! No need for the miss to worry!" He lets go of your hands, bringing both of his hands up to ruffle your hair, "So cheer up!"

"Zeno.." Was all you mumbled before an almost frustrated groan slips from you. With rather aggressive movements, you grip the back of his head and shirt, forcing him to collide with your chest.

"You idiot! How can you act so carefree after scaring me half to death?" Zeno's eyes widen, not because of your angry tone or how tightly you're holding him, but because of the tears—your tears—that he feels stain his clothed back.

"I was so scared.. I.. I really did think I was going to lose you.." You wrap your arms around his neck, your head coming down to rest atop of his as tears glide down your cheeks, some of which landing on his head and wetting his hair.

"I love you.." You weep, "I love you so much that I couldn't bear the thought of something like that happening again so please..try not to let it happen again.."

Oh, how he wishes he could lie to you. To tell you that he'd never throw himself into a situation like that again but that simply wouldn't be true because he probably will. To be completely honest, he doesn't care about what happens to him or this body of his. Being a shield is his one and only purpose and in a way, his reason to live. It'd be too obvious of a lie to tell you he'd never do something like that again..

..But at the same time, seeing you cry over him like this is not something he wants to make a normal occurrence.. It's nice to know you care for him enough to cry over him, but he'd much prefer your smile over your tears.

And so, he wraps his arms around you, lifting his head up to bury himself in your shoulder as he allows you to sob into his, smiling to himself as he whispers in your ear, "I'll try for you."

"I'm home!" Bachira's excited voice rings throughout your apartment as he swung the door open.

After being gone for so long, he was so happy to be home! So happy to be able to rest in his bed and eat yummy food and, most importantly, he's so so so excited to be able to see you in person again! To see your smile, to hold you close.. Eeee~! Just thinking about it makes him all the more eager!

..But you aren't waiting for him at the door like you said you would.. Where— Oh, nevermind.

As he walked closer to the large sofa, your figure revealed itself; comfortable and tangled in pillows, you were fast asleep and softly snoring away. The sight makes him pout. As cute as you are like this, he would've liked it if you were awake and greeting him with open arms like he imagined..

Guess he'll have to settle with a goodnight kiss.. Or maybe he should wake you up with a surprise, hehe..~

With a mischievously silly idea now forming in his head and a playful smirk on his face to match it, Bachira takes no time to lean over the couch. He dips down, inching closer and closer to your face..

And just like that, he was caught in your trap.

Everything happened in a instant and before Bachira could process you flipping him over and onto the couch, you were already covering his face in wet kisses and tickling his sides, causing his face to crinkle up as a string of laughs force their way from his pale lips.

"I knew you'd try something!" You say, wide awake and grinning triumphantly at the boy dying of laughter underneath you.

"I- Ahahahaha..~! I- I thought— Wait! I- Ahahahaha..~!" He couldn't even get his words out because of your ruthless assault to his poor sides. It was only when the tears begin to form that you finally showed mercy, removing your hands from his sides at last.

He takes a few breaths, his body going limp as it's released from your ticklish torture. You wait a few moments to allow him to catch his breath before your hands come up to tangle in his two-toned hair, carding your fingers through it in a rhythm..

"I got you pretty good," You say cheekily, it earns a small, slightly breathless chuckle from your boyfriend.

"I thought you were asleep," He says, "I was asleep until a few minutes ago, thanks to a certain someone," You quip before completely falling on top of him, slamming all your body weight onto him and burying your face in his chest. Not that he minded.

"You made such a ruckus opening the front door you woke me up," You explained in grumble, although your tone made it evident that you weren't actually upset.

"Sorry, 'couldn't help it! 'Wanted to see your gorgeous face as soon as possible!" He says. Planting a kiss on your forehead and following up by pulling you up and kissing you in various other places like your nose and cheeks, "I missed you so so so so so much, babe!"

A huff escapes you, but it looses it's vexing effect due to the wide smile painted on your face, "I missed you too, beautiful. But next time, come in a little quieter.."

Lazy days were always your favorite.

No annoying ass colleagues annoying you about boring ass work, no early mornings, and the best part, no leaving the bed. What makes things even better is that your boyfriend was home, cuddled up to you as you played in his hair.

"You're really pretty.. My pretty boy.." You cooed into his ear. You've been whispering compliments into his ear ever since the two of you woke up and although he liked it, the endless stream of adoration was really starting to get to him..

"Stop.." Nagi mumbled out in a way that comes off as borderline whining as he attempted to bury his face into your shoulder even more than he already was.

"What? I thought you liked it when I complimented you, baby," You said, eliciting another, even more whiny, groany, mumble from him.

"I do, but not when you're shoving it down my throat like this.." He said, but his pink ears gave away the truth; he simply couldn't handle anymore of sygary-sweet compliments..

Even with his sweet tooth, he knows that any more candy-drop affirmations would give him a stomachache..

You chuckle, "Okay, okay, I'll stop for now. ..I'll just shower you in kisses!" And before he could complain, you were already leaning in and covering any and every part of his face that you could reach with wet pecks, "Heyyyyyy," He groaned, but he doesn't stop you. Afterall, attempting to stop you would be too much effort and he hates putting in effort for anything on lazy days..

Hm, guess he stuck being pampered like this until you tire yourself out. How annoying.. Not really, but it's hard to sleep when you're making his heart race.

YONA

Manipulative, Dependent, Clingy

You grew up with YONA in the palace and have been by her side since. You being a few years older than her led you to have many responsibilities of your own, leaving you very little time to coddle the young princess. She hated it. Being her elder, you always kept her in check, essentially raising her into the woman she is today and she had fallen for you long ago.

Whenever you left her side it felt like a part of her died. The young princess grew less lively and even snappy to those around her because they just weren’t you. What was the point in trying to be perfect when you were nowhere in sight? How annoying…

YONA will latch onto you like a koala if it means you won't leave her. She’ll kick, scream, and weep if it means you won't leave her. Nothing is off the table if it means you’ll stick close to her; she adores your attention. In her mind, you love hers just as much. But being the spoiled girl she is, I suppose this isn’t too far-fetched.

Despite being shy about it, YONA finds it hard to not have her hands on you in some way, preferably holding your hand. It takes her back to a time when things were simpler, where you were with her and no one else, cooing sweet promises merely to soothe her worries. A princess always gets what she wants, and she'll cut down anyone who gets in her way.

SON HAK

Possessive, aggressive, protective

As seen in canon, HAK does have a pretty strong jealous side toward Yona. Think of that but times a hundred in your case. It's not hard for him to conceal his distaste for your friendly interactions with others but everyone has their breaking points. When intervening he'll step in front of you, pushing you behind him and out of your "acquaintance's" sight. If you ask him about it later Hak will most likely try to label it as him protecting you.

Being as tall as he is, it's usually easy to keep creeps out of your personal space. After all, who wants to deal with an imposing, scowling man with a Hsu Quandao strapped to his back? But of course, some people still try their luck. Asking you for directions is off limits, let alone allowing a man to speak so familiarly with you. It's always, “Ask me, not them” with Hak.

HAK forever has an arm tossed over your shoulder. He claims it's "to make sure you don't get lost" but the vacant street says otherwise. Leaving the village on your own is forbidden unless you want your neck smothered in deep purple bite marks beforehand. The idea of you completely giving in to his affections makes his heart beat.

If it came down to it, murder isn't something Hak is opposed to. But as a pitiful attempt to keep his reputation, he'll settle for beating them black and blue, until his knuckles are covered in a deep rouge. Jealousy is a terrible disease and once he reaches his limit don't try and stop him.

KI-JA

Jealous, insecure, delusional (worship)

One of the few good yanderes you could be paired with. Ki-Ja is very attentive to his lover and their feelings no matter what he's doing. The dragon is quick to side with you even over his own master because, in his mind, you're never wrong. Everything you say is law and Ki-Ja follows every command without a second thought.

When he’s jealous it’s so painfully obvious. Ki-Ja’s emotions come in waves so when he dislikes something it's hard for him to bite his tongue. The white dragon practically worships the ground you walk on and follows you every step of the way. His loyalty runs deeper than his own blood so he'd rather not see people referring to you so familiarly. (Is he Yona's dragon or yours atp?)

Your praise is forever rewarding, regardless of how small it may be. Just being by your side is the greatest honor one could have, in his eyes. You could look down on him, subjecting him to being nothing more than entertainment, and he would somehow tie it back to you being a kind person. Ki-Ja sees himself as not only your lover but your loyal companion, prepared to stick by your side no matter what happens.

He would never kidnap you, that's out of the question. The thought of you hating him for his selfish acts submerges him with panic. If you were to leave him, he'd wish for death on the spot. But that's only an IF. And killing would only be justifiable if someone has hurt you.

JAE-HA

Manipulative, Possessive, flirty

Jae-ha flirts solely for his own pleasure. No true feelings lie behind his words no matter how beautiful the individual may be. But with you, he felt like a wild animal chasing a female in heat from the way his eyes followed you. You were beautiful, more than the many others he gave his time to, and he was a bit too determined to make you his.

Once a ladies' man always a ladies' man. As I’ve said, he could give two fucks about the women he banters with, they mean nothing to him, but somehow seeing your face contort into a harsh scowl turns him on more than you'd ever know. If looks could kill, he’d be six feet under and he knows that. But I have a sneaking suspicion that he wouldn't mind.

However, your talking to another man leaves him quite bitter (hypocrite). The passive aggressiveness this man dishes out is unmatched; he will rip them a new asshole for even breathing the same air as you. None of your friends compare to you and he tells you that every day. Jae-Ha worships the ground you walk on, satisfies and pleasures you every evening so why was your attention elsewhere?

On a regular day, Jae-ha can be seen by your side, trying his hardest to get under your skin. Placing a hand on the small of your back, biting several of the plush areas of your skin that he can reach. He doesn't shy away from PDA. Mainly due to the curious stares you receive from men that pass you by, their eyes hastily lingering on your figure. It vexes him to no end but he won’t bother getting his hands dirty. Perhaps you can help him let off some steam.

ZENO

Emotionally attached, clingy, dependent

An attention whore at its finest. But seriously, this man thrives off your love and time. It's like a drug to him and he craves it. Whenever he isn’t tending to Yona he tends to you instead. If he could have it his way, every waking moment would be spent in your arms, sleeping the days away.

He's one of the better yanderes of the dragons due to the many centuries he's lived. Don't get me wrong he's completely infatuated with you and is hung up on every word you speak. But he's not one to control your decisions as long as he gets to tag along. Zeno trusts you with his entirety, he just enjoys invading your personal space.

Zeno gets jealous of people like Hak quite often. He's strong physically and mentally even as a human and as much as Zeno admires his strength, he doesn't need you doing that too. So if you plan on interacting with Hak, be prepared for some pretty embarrassing things. Zeno will place slow, wet kisses on your skin until he has your attention again.

The only real downside of this relationship is his clinginess. He never leaves your side. Oh, you have to get changed? He'll help you. You have to use the bathroom? Cool, he’ll wait ‘till you're done and sit right in front of you. Personal space doesn’t exist in your relationship and at times it gets really suffocating. You couldn’t reject him if you wanted to in fear that his reaction will leave your heart aching in regret.

HOW TO SEND IN A REQUEST(just a guide!)

-State the character you want. You can have up to 3 in a headcanon post, and 2 in a Oneshot post. Oneshot characters have to be in the same media, but you can mix and match any of the characters I write for in heacanon requests.

Ex.

Hc requests: I want to know what Kurapika, Gojo, and Chrollo do when their girlfriend is on their period

Oneshot request: Hi, can I get a oneshot with Kurapika x Reader x Chrollo where she has to learn to live with the fact her partners hate each other and are constantly vying for her affections?

-Don’t make it TOO long. Keep it down to a few paragraphs at most. Making it too long makes it harder to respond to because it makes the post look too long. You can make it detailed, but I’m more likely to pick shorter, more succinct asks/requests.

-be clear about what you want. Make sure you clarify things so things don’t get confused!

Limits:

-I only write female!readers currently

-no gore

-if a character is canonically racist, homophobic, transphobic, a rapist, etc I will not take requests of them.

-if you badger me with dms about your request or are rude I will block you without warning. I won’t be able to get to every request, or maybe I don’t want to. Please respect that

-I don’t take requests about self harming, suicide, or eating disorders. It can be triggering to myself and others so I would rather not do it(as a request I won’t do these, some of my future works may contain these subjects, but will always have a trigger warning beforehand)

-I don’t enjoy writing cheating scenarios or extreme angst, so I am less likely to take your request if it includes those

-I don’t write for male readers, sorry! I’ll occasionally do gender neutral, but I just can’t write for male readers. I’ve tried it a few times but it just wasn’t good. I don’t want to put out mediocre content for male readers, y’all deserve better.

The more info you give me in a request the better, especially for smut. If you don’t give me enough info, I won’t write it.

Hello !! I am a 18F looking for an 18+ rp partner. Dark themes are absolutely not a problem but I will not do scat/vomit type themes. The rp could be of any type, however when it comes to nsfw, I would prefer some build up before we get to the actual smut.

I prefer literate/semi-literate rp and usually do oc x canon, however I am open to canon x canon/oc x oc as well. I can do fxf, fxm or mxm, and usually double up. I would like it if my partner writes at least a paragraph (6-7 sentences minimum). My replies can fluctuate as my schedule is always changing here and there so I can go from replying frequently to replying weekly and rarely monthly. I don’t expect my partner to match my pace so replies aren’t an issue, all I ask is that you let me know if you’re going to go on a long pause, I will do the same.

As for aus or scenarios, we can sit together and brainstorm! I’m completely fine with every type of au. Yandere, A/B/O, tooth rotting romance, etc. like I said dark themes are not a problem so get as nasty as you’d like! We will of course discuss our limits and stuff, so anything we do will always be between whatever we are comfortable with!! Anything we can discuss.

Synopsis: The reader is an ancient God who travels as a human, but every century loses her memory to protect themselves. Now, she's debating on turning her love interest into a god to return to heaven with her.

Note: I made this have any obsessive love because when most people meet a god(ess) they'll want to worship them in my opinion. Deities have that effect on people.

BEING THE WOMANIZER he is, Jae-ha has come across his fair share of pretty faces; but he didn't expect a goddess to be one of them. It was evident that you were from the heavens, blessed with ineffable amounts of beauty and an ambiance just as tempting. It was no surprise the man would look to pursue you.

It's decided; he shall join you in the afterlife. As your one and only, to bask in your beauty and grace until the sun touches the horizon. Somehow you managed to sweep the playboy off his feet in record-breaking time, although that's supposedly his job. It was almost embarrassing how fast he accepted your proposal, so much so that a deep red tinge can be seen dusting his cheeks. Never had he been so enamored with a woman, one way out of his league at that.

Now the memory aspect has piqued his interest. Relationships are precious, insightful even, so why would you want to forget them? Regardless, he respects your decision. Yet over time, Jae-Ha soon realizes he'd rather you lose all memories that don't include him. After all, he's a bit jealous of all the experiences you may have had with your past lovers, and he'd rather not have any more competition than needed.

“Oh my, I believe it's that time, isn't it? Let us go to the heavens above where we shall become one. Unfortunately, I don't think I can take the anticipation much longer darling.”

ZENO

A REAL LIFE GODDESS in the flesh? Woah, this must be his lucky day. Like with most things in life, Zeno is ecstatic. Through the many centuries he's lived, not once has he been graced with the presence of a deity such as yourself. Beautiful doesn't begin to describe the beauty that endowed you. It was as though he was looking a fairy tale princess right in the eyes. Various compliments spilled from his smiling lips faster than he could account for. If he was feeling even the slightest bit of shame you had not noticed.

This being your human form enticed him to dig up the real you. He would hate to k now you're hiding anything from him. You are not obligated to unveil what you desire not to, but he'd rather bask in as much of your authenticity as "humanely" possible. Zeno is quite jealous of your ability to forget about the past, and until he met you he wished to do the same. Maybe then would he be able to start all over again and experience life one step at a time with you sticking closely by his side.

Zeno's dragon grants him the gift of immortality so dying is out of the question. He has lived to see many dragons come and go, greeted by death and to god knows where. It saddens him that even with his new powers he won't be able to fulfill your wishes. In the end, Zeno's purpose is to serve Yona and no one else. But only one woman can make his heart beat so sporadically, rendering him speechless each time they meet eyes.

“It's a shame, y'know? I really wish I could go with you and keep you company. Hah—!? Don't cry; we'll figure something out, I'm sure of it!”

SO-WOON

SOMEONE SO POWERFUL should have never taken interest in him, but oh is he glad they did. A deity, from the heavens nonetheless, had come before him with curiosity at that. Just a short conversation with you proved how extensive your knowledge is. And from the sound of it, you were much older than many mythical beings of this time. So as one does, Soo-Won ponders ways to use that to his advantage, even if it meant deceiving you. However, that was before he put his plan into motion.

Soo-Won was destined to fall deeper and deeper into the alluring solace of the goddess he had merely hoped to use. Now, the man wished to undress her, uncovering every inch of her ravishing skin; so perfect and warm. He wished to taint her with his blooded hands so she could learn to love his true nature as he loved hers. He realizes his selfishness but he simply doesn't care. There shall be no lies between you two and he'll make sure of it.

He would long for nothing more than to be with you until his last breath, even if he does not deserve to. The sins he's committed should send him nowhere but the raging depths of hell. However, he will not lose you to those cocky bastards that resided above the clouds who were waiting to take his place. And he will never allow you to erase anything regarding your future, together for eternity.

“My beautiful goddess, where have you gone? I was worried sick; Hah...I'd thought those disposable fools had gotten to you. With your permission, I shall get rid of them in your stead.”

warrior!jk part 2 (warrior!jk x princess!reader)

when warrior!jungkook was fifteen, he dreaded visiting the royal castle.

jungkook preferred lounging around in the wind tribe’s villa, mounting on horses and galloping around the vast fields. he also liked occupying himself in target practice with his nifty arrow or sparring with some of the other warriors in the wind tribe.

really, why did jungkook abhor making that brief journey to the royal castle? it wasn;t because he was ordered to dress in the fanciest robes he owned, nor was it because he was treated poorly. in fact, everybody at the castle practically adored him. the maids loved him, always squealing when they saw jungkook approach the castle from afar. the emperor adored jungkook, treating jungkook as if he was one of his own, often offering jungkook the most luxurious gifts anybody would dream of.

jungkook’s grandpa, and (at the time), chief of the wind tribe, was truly one of the most stern and highly regarded men in korea, and everybody cowered in his presence. well, everybody except jungkook. jungkook really wasn’t scared of him. cmon, that's his grandpa, for goodness sake. jungkook just did what he wanted to do.

that is until..

“jeon jungkook. you must go to the royal castle to pay your regards to the emperor. must you be so impertinent that you disregard the best interest of the wind tribe?”

jungkook’s lips purse in a thin line. he knew that maintaining relations with the royal castle was beneficial for the wind tribe for economic, social, and political reasons. jungkook also knew he was the perfect candidate for next general and chief of the wind tribe; he had a sharp mind, tactical skills, and an intimate relationship with the royal family: the princess being his childhood friend.

in reality, jungkook was the only person who knew why he hated going to the royal castle. he would never tell a soul because he preferred not to reveal his vulnerable side.

jungkook is lying down on the sofa in the wind tribe’s head villa. head empty, he blankly stares at the ceiling with both hand resting behind his head. he makes no response to his grandpa who continues to berate him.

“can someone fetch me the whipping stick?” jungkook’s grandpa's voice echos throughout the villa.

jungkook wasn’t scared of his grandfather, but yes, he was indeed scared of the infamous whopping stick.

“fine ill go to the castle,” he begrudgingly gives in, groaning and forcing himself to stand up.

jungkook and his grandfather are escorted into the royal castle by the castle guards and are given a room to lounge in until the king makes his appearance. once again, jungkook finds himself lounging on a sofa in the room, hands behind his head as he blankly stares at the ceiling. his grandfather sits on the bed adjacent to the sofa, chastising jungkook. jungkook tunes him out. something about paying his respects to the king; it was the usual lecture jungkook received whenever he visited the castle

the king finally makes his apprarance, knocking on the door of jungkooks room, requesting for his presence to be know. jungkook immediately stands up from the couch, and kneels down before the king.

the king’s bellow echoes through the room. “no need for such formalities. it’s been such a long time since i’ve seen you, jungkook.”

the king wraps his arms around jungkook’s neck and jungkook awkwardly hugs him back.

jungkook sheepishly smiles. “my apologies for not visitng sooner, your highness.” he bows once again to the daunting king, making sure he abides by royal policy. jungkook glances over to his grandfather, who nods his head in approval.

“it is no problem! you two have been making significant moves for the wind tribe, serving our kingdom in any way you possibly can. jungkook, i heard you were able to successfully negotitate with the other tribes for putting sanctions on the zhou kingdom?”

“your highness it is simply our duty to serve the kingdom. the zhou kingdom’s military has been manipulating foreign policy by unrightfully using our resources, so of course i took action.” jungkook ends the sentence with the corners of his lips raised. of course he's at least slightly proud of himself for accomplishing such a feat.

the king gives the most hearty grin in jungkook's direction. “you are such a bright boy. y/n really misses having you around, you know?”

at this, jungkook’s body tenses up. it’s probably been five months since he’s seen you. the last hang out was casual, normal, nothing special in particular occurring. the two of you just went into the city market and looked at the jewelry (with about ten guards following) since then, you hadn’t written to him, and he hadnt to you. it was so different from when you guys were kids.

when the two of you were younger, there were countless sleepovers, playdates, and hangouts, with taehyung, of course.

but as you guys grew, your interests shifted. you had stopped playing around in the dirt and had grown privvy to more feminine things like jewelry, makeup, and hairclips. on the other side, taehyung and jungkook had grown receiving brutal trainings. their interests mostly remained combat and work. maybe you and him had finally grown apart. he wasn’t so sure about how you and taehyung were though, which made his heart ache in the slightest bit.

he knew he was developing feelings for you. scratch that, he knew that he’s had feelings for you for quite a while, and that you were madly in love with taehyung. he had a hard time accepting this, accepting that he had such.. unwavering feelings for you. he wished they would go away, the care he felt for you. the urge to always be by your side. so, in order to cope with that, he just avoided you.

indeed, it was you, his biggest weakness. the supposedly perfect child prodigy dreaded going to the castle because he didn't want to deal with his feelings for you.

when he was with you, he found himself doing ridiculous things, like jewelry shopping. he found that he would do whatever you asked, and he hated himself for being so weak and unable to refuse you.

jungkook zones out and the king keeps rambling on. “actually, i wanted to make a request. what do you think of moving to the castle and becoming y/n’s bodyguard? there’s nobody i trust besides you.”

the king smiles at jungkook and nudges him playfully.

jungkook doesn’t have time to fully process this request, but already knows what to do. he bows once again to the king, on his knees with both hands on his thighs. “emperor, with all due respect i will have to decline your offer.” and he says this while looking down, not daring to make eye contact with the king. he knows that he just can't abide by your dad's request- that his heart wouldn't be able to handle it.

jungkook’s grandpa is already giving him the a violent side eye, his veins practically protruding from the side of his neck.

“you have no reason to be bowing nor do you possess any obligation to follow through with my request, so please stand up. may i ask why though?” the king speaks in a stern voice but jungkook feels the gentleness communicated through his words.

jungkook stands up and sheepishly rubs the nape of his neck. “to be honest, i consider the princess quite a nuisance.”

jungkook braces himself for his grandpa's response to this.

his grandpa slaps the back of jungkook’s head.

“ouch, grandpa!”

it appears that a light has gone off in the king's brain. “i apologize for any behavior my daughter has committed to pose a nuisance towards you. i realize that i have spoiled her too much. but after all, she is the princess.” the emperor kneels. “im sorry for making such an inappropriate request.”

(needless to say, jungkook gets his ass beat when he returns to the villa with his grandfather.)

after a somewhat violent and interesting interaction with the emperor, jungkook wanders around the castle, hands behind his back as he hums a simple tune.

he turns the corner in one of the halls, and just to his luck, he runs straight to you.

“jungkook!” you exclaim, holding two hair clips in your hand. one is made of gold wire, molded delicately into the shape of a butterfly. another is made of pink resin, in the shape of a heart. "which one would look better on me?" you hold each one up to your head

a nonchalant expression paints his face. he refrains from looking down to make direct eye contact with you, or even looking at you in general. simply, he looks straight ahead. "they would both look ugly," he replies in a monotone voice before bringing his palm up to his mouth to dramatically yawn.

you huff and cross your arms together. "jeon jungkook! it's been five months since we've crossed paths and you're treating me in this manner?"

jungkook still refuses to make eye contact "you simply asked for my honesty, and i complied with your request, princess." his teeth gritting at the last word.

"you're such an ass, jungkook. you know, taehyung never treats me like this, you know! he even brought me this necklace at his last visit!"

jungkook finally looks at you. you in your daily gown, with your hair down, and a frown spread across your lips. who is in her daily gown, hair down, with a frown painted across your face. you point to the necklace gracing your slender neck. it's got a gold chain, with a moon crescent charm latched on to it. he gulps because he can't help but think you look cute. not wanting to give into his greatest weakness, he turns his head.

"go call taehyung to talk to you then," he mutters spitefully before he stomps off, leaving you dumbfounded in the courtyard of the castle.

he bitterly laughs to himself. ah yes, this is why he hates going to the castle so much. this is why.

Okay, but can we talk about how this series is named “Yona of the Dawn” or “Yona: the girl standing at the blush of dawn”? Because that has been messing me up. The only person as far as I can tell that has called her anything like that was Soo Won, the very same day he murdered her father. Nearly every other comparison has compared her hair to fire, Soo Won is the only one who called it dawn.

From an artist standpoint, it leads to a bunch of really cool art with her at dawn, and the symbolism that goes along with it is *chef’s kiss* but can you imagine if that had in-world significance?

Is it Yona who thinks of her hair as dawn colored, no matter how much she hates the memory?

Worse, do other people eventually pick it up after a distracted comment by Soo Won, and does that title begin to haunt her? She knows they mean it as a compliment, but if she goes down in history as Yona of the Dawn, how would it feel knowing that it was the title given by her once greatest love turned greatest enemy? By the man that slew her father and saved her kingdom? (possibly ruining it again if he insists on trying to take over all of Kai like he planned, and creates a kingdom too big and internally divided to be sustainable by his successor, ultimately doing nothing but breeding more war). Who could she possibly explain the feeling to whenever someone calls her that? Hak would understand, but she can’t afford to make a big deal of it because it is a compliment.

It was a compliment.

And my favorite scenario, I think the manga is going to end with Soo Won realizing that his death is coming too quickly and his achievements relied too heavily on him as the leader. (like, several arcs in the future) He realizes Kouka is probably going to fall apart under the next leader, especially with the war-mongers in positions of power. This falls apart faster when they realize it’s do to some genetic disease that causes headaches and he has no replacement appointed.

To remedy this, I think Soo Won will have Yona publicly try him for the murder of her father/crimes against her and the four dragons, and ask her to publicly execute him. A dying request. This would earn her respect from the war faction and neighboring kingdoms (the ones that don’t already wish she was on the throne). Yona is put in the position of killing him for the good of her kingdom (foiling the same actions Soo Won took), standing before him at dawn, and he says the title line. “Yona, the girl standing at the blush of dawn. You were always going to be the one to usher in a new day for Kouka kingdom. I apologize for never seeing you properly.” And closes his eyes, waiting for death.

FYI

Yona can strike him down or not. If she does kill him it’s a continuation of her arc of accepting that death comes as part of duty for protecting people, forgiving Soo Won because she realizes that she would make the same choice that he had, and respecting Soo Won’s wish for a quick death that served Kouka instead of a prolonged death the ultimately hurt the kingdom, possibly paralleling the Dragons short lives and Zeno’s wish to finally die.

Or, and more likely, she refuses to become like Soo Won, declares there was always another way, and if she’s the dawn, then the day she brings will never kill needlessly (bonus here is she doesn’t have to forgive him). If she refuses to kill him, then she has one more arc where she travels to the seat of the gods to lift the short lives/immortal life of her friends and tell heaven that humans have suffered enough.

Either way, she becomes known as Yona: the woman standing at the blush of dawn, and sparks a woman’s movement.

I feel many things about this title, okay?
