Love and Devotion | Various Characters
How do they react to you randomly ( or not so randomly ) professing your love for them? ( Or vice versa )
Characters: Yun, Zeno, Meguru Bachira, and Seishiro Nagi
Warnings: Nothing major, but for Zeno's part, they're very vague spoilers to the manga!
A/N: I don't know what this is honestly, but if I find the motivation and if you guys like this, I'll make a part two with different characters! :)
Tumblr media
"I love you so much. Please don't ever leave me," You confessed to the beautiful genius before you, face hot and your body drenched in sweat under thick blankets.
"Stop saying stupid things," The genius in question replies, not sparing you a glance as he worked on your medicine, hands moving swiftly and meticulously as he mixed the herbs in a bowl, "You have more important things to worry about."
"But you are what's most important to me," You shamelessly retort, "Please, don't leave me.. I love you so much..I'd probably cry if you left me.."
"Calm down, I'm not leaving any time soon," He replies plainly before mumbling, "Not that I could if I wanted to. Knowing you, if I left you'd probably try to brush off your illness like an idiot and end up dying somehow.."
"Do you promise?" You ask and this time, Yun turns to look at you, his frowning face meeting your expectant one.
You truly are stupid, he thinks.
"It's going to take a while for me to finish your medicine so you should rest until then," His eyes break away from yours to return back to the bowl in front of him, "I'll wake you when I finish."
"I'm not sleeping until you promise me you'll stay."
"Fine, I promise I'll stay. Now get some rest."
"I don't believe you when you say it like that."
"Well that was the only time I'm saying it so you'll have to deal with it."
"Can't you be the tiniest bit romantic sometimes. I really think it would benefit our relationship if—"
"Go to sleep or I will leave."
Tumblr media
"Y'know, the miss can stop poking Zeno now," Zeno said cheerfully only to be once again poked in the arm by you, who still seemed to be rather awestruck.
Understandably so. I mean, how can you not after what happened..
"Sorry.." You mumble out, reluctantly letting go of his arm, "It's just.. Even though I saw your powers with my own eyes, it's hard to believe that you're really okay."
As the gruesome events of the other day replayed over and over in your head, your fist clench uncomfortably tight, your nails digging into the skin of the palm of your hand. Zeno's eyes soften at the sight.
Slowly, he takes your balled fist into his hands, using his fingers to gently pry your fingers apart. Once done, he grabs your other hand and intertwines both of his hands with yours.
"Do you feel this? Zeno's holding your hand, you feel that?" He asks, his smile widening when you eventually nod your head.
"See, Zeno's just fine! No need for the miss to worry!" He lets go of your hands, bringing both of his hands up to ruffle your hair, "So cheer up!"
"Zeno.." Was all you mumbled before an almost frustrated groan slips from you. With rather aggressive movements, you grip the back of his head and shirt, forcing him to collide with your chest.
"You idiot! How can you act so carefree after scaring me half to death?" Zeno's eyes widen, not because of your angry tone or how tightly you're holding him, but because of the tears—your tears—that he feels stain his clothed back.
"I was so scared.. I.. I really did think I was going to lose you.." You wrap your arms around his neck, your head coming down to rest atop of his as tears glide down your cheeks, some of which landing on his head and wetting his hair.
"I love you.." You weep, "I love you so much that I couldn't bear the thought of something like that happening again so please..try not to let it happen again.."
Oh, how he wishes he could lie to you. To tell you that he'd never throw himself into a situation like that again but that simply wouldn't be true because he probably will. To be completely honest, he doesn't care about what happens to him or this body of his. Being a shield is his one and only purpose and in a way, his reason to live. It'd be too obvious of a lie to tell you he'd never do something like that again..
..But at the same time, seeing you cry over him like this is not something he wants to make a normal occurrence.. It's nice to know you care for him enough to cry over him, but he'd much prefer your smile over your tears.
And so, he wraps his arms around you, lifting his head up to bury himself in your shoulder as he allows you to sob into his, smiling to himself as he whispers in your ear, "I'll try for you."
Tumblr media
"I'm home!" Bachira's excited voice rings throughout your apartment as he swung the door open.
After being gone for so long, he was so happy to be home! So happy to be able to rest in his bed and eat yummy food and, most importantly, he's so so so excited to be able to see you in person again! To see your smile, to hold you close.. Eeee~! Just thinking about it makes him all the more eager!
..But you aren't waiting for him at the door like you said you would.. Where— Oh, nevermind.
As he walked closer to the large sofa, your figure revealed itself; comfortable and tangled in pillows, you were fast asleep and softly snoring away. The sight makes him pout. As cute as you are like this, he would've liked it if you were awake and greeting him with open arms like he imagined..
Guess he'll have to settle with a goodnight kiss.. Or maybe he should wake you up with a surprise, hehe..~
With a mischievously silly idea now forming in his head and a playful smirk on his face to match it, Bachira takes no time to lean over the couch. He dips down, inching closer and closer to your face..
And just like that, he was caught in your trap.
Everything happened in a instant and before Bachira could process you flipping him over and onto the couch, you were already covering his face in wet kisses and tickling his sides, causing his face to crinkle up as a string of laughs force their way from his pale lips.
"I knew you'd try something!" You say, wide awake and grinning triumphantly at the boy dying of laughter underneath you.
"I- Ahahahaha..~! I- I thought— Wait! I- Ahahahaha..~!" He couldn't even get his words out because of your ruthless assault to his poor sides. It was only when the tears begin to form that you finally showed mercy, removing your hands from his sides at last.
He takes a few breaths, his body going limp as it's released from your ticklish torture. You wait a few moments to allow him to catch his breath before your hands come up to tangle in his two-toned hair, carding your fingers through it in a rhythm..
"I got you pretty good," You say cheekily, it earns a small, slightly breathless chuckle from your boyfriend.
"I thought you were asleep," He says, "I was asleep until a few minutes ago, thanks to a certain someone," You quip before completely falling on top of him, slamming all your body weight onto him and burying your face in his chest. Not that he minded.
"You made such a ruckus opening the front door you woke me up," You explained in grumble, although your tone made it evident that you weren't actually upset.
"Sorry, 'couldn't help it! 'Wanted to see your gorgeous face as soon as possible!" He says. Planting a kiss on your forehead and following up by pulling you up and kissing you in various other places like your nose and cheeks, "I missed you so so so so so much, babe!"
A huff escapes you, but it looses it's vexing effect due to the wide smile painted on your face, "I missed you too, beautiful. But next time, come in a little quieter.."
Tumblr media
Lazy days were always your favorite.
No annoying ass colleagues annoying you about boring ass work, no early mornings, and the best part, no leaving the bed. What makes things even better is that your boyfriend was home, cuddled up to you as you played in his hair.
"You're really pretty.. My pretty boy.." You cooed into his ear. You've been whispering compliments into his ear ever since the two of you woke up and although he liked it, the endless stream of adoration was really starting to get to him..
"Stop.." Nagi mumbled out in a way that comes off as borderline whining as he attempted to bury his face into your shoulder even more than he already was.
"What? I thought you liked it when I complimented you, baby," You said, eliciting another, even more whiny, groany, mumble from him.
"I do, but not when you're shoving it down my throat like this.." He said, but his pink ears gave away the truth; he simply couldn't handle anymore of sygary-sweet compliments..
Even with his sweet tooth, he knows that any more candy-drop affirmations would give him a stomachache..
You chuckle, "Okay, okay, I'll stop for now. ..I'll just shower you in kisses!" And before he could complain, you were already leaning in and covering any and every part of his face that you could reach with wet pecks, "Heyyyyyy," He groaned, but he doesn't stop you. Afterall, attempting to stop you would be too much effort and he hates putting in effort for anything on lazy days..
Hm, guess he stuck being pampered like this until you tire yourself out. How annoying.. Not really, but it's hard to sleep when you're making his heart race.

Hello!! What do you think of a scenario where a goofy reader goes quiet bc of yoon says something like “can you be serious for one second? I wish you’d just stop!” bc he’s stressed out. Then reader stays quiet for a few hours and the HHB don’t really notice until yoon catches her by herself and realizes she’s crying and was trying to hide she felt bad about it cue clearing misunderstandings and fluff!!
I think that sounds very interesting anon! Thank you for sending this one in! Yoon is so cute and I love writing him. Cue silly squabble followed by fluff! I hope this is good, I'm still a little rusty after prying my way out of writer's block and this is my first time writing a scenario request in a WHILE. But I had so much fun writing him! So once again, thank you! I hope any Yun fans reading enjoy it too.
Side note- I never know how to spell his name. Akayona seems based off of ancient korea with the names at least so Yoon feels right to me but I'm so used to seeing it spelt as Yun! I'll keep to Yoon in the writing for now, but what do you guys think?
Reader pronouns are she/her as used in anon's ask!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yoon
The past few days have been awfully tense for the Happy Hungry Bunch and the Dark Dragon. Resources have been low and all your faces are fresh in the minds of the Kouka citizens. You’re on the run. Your access to village traders and merchants isn’t as lenient as it used to be— you’re forced to wear your hoods over your heads and keep out of sight.
On guard duty, while you and Yoon weren’t looking, a bundle of herbs was carried off by curious critters into the depths of the forest. Luckily, it was nothing you didn’t have seconds of, but resources being as scarce as they were, it weighed on Yoon’s mind quite heavily.
“Crap— What were you doing??? That could’ve— ugh—” The young genius clenched his hands into fists as his mind turned upside down, trying to find a solution that didn’t exist. His fists loosened, and he found nothing but the end of his sentence. “That was at least one injury’s worth of herbs. Those plants don't grow around here.” He said, turning his back to you and crouching near his bag. He knew this wasn’t the time for an argument. He himself didn’t quite have the energy for one either.
"Well, at least the animals won’t have to worry about an injury then," you smirk, trying to ease his mind with a cute joke. You smile at the thought of raccoons putting their opposable thumbs to use with a rock somewhere, pounding the weeds the way you see Yoon do so often.
Unfortunately, your joke didn't quite land with him.
“Are you being serious?” He turns to you as he's crouched.
“I dunno, when am I ever?” You chuckle, not noticing how his tone is darker than it usually is when he banters with you. You smile at him in hopes that your expression would make him realize the situation itself wasn’t as dire as he made it out to be.
Yoon’s brows furrowed, and your smile faded. He rapidly shot up from his spot, his beautiful features scrunched in a scowl.
“Well, would it kill you to be serious for once??” He thundered. You blinked, trying to process his tone, why he was so upset— and why at you. His gaze grew more intense at your silence. “This is no time to be joking around! Do you realize that??? We’re already low on resources as it is, and you know with this group, injuries are as inevitable as there are stars in the sky!”
Yoon bit his lip to try to put a lid on his boiling emotions. This was not the time. He needs to prepare for dinner.
“What’s wrong?” A voice emerges from beyond the tree trunks. Yona hurriedly steps through the beaten path and takes a glance back and forth between your expressions.
“What, are they fighting or something?” Hak strolls in, carrying a stack of twigs in his arm. You stay quiet. You don’t know how to answer that, at least not seriously, you suppose.
“Not really.” Yoon mumbles, turning his back to you once more to sort through the edible flora he’s found throughout the day. “Leave your wood by that trunk, Thunder Beast.”
Your face feels numb at his answer, and you stare at the small back that never failed to support you and everyone else around him. His words echo in your head as footsteps approach you.
“Are you alright?” A dignified voice addresses you, and you look up to see Kija gazing at you with concern laced in his brow. You force a smile.
“Y-Yeah! Why wouldn’t I be? Yoon and I kinda messed up a bit, that’s all… Some raccoons had their way with some of his herbs.” You mutter, busying yourself by taking some materials the returning group brought back.
Kija eyed you with concern as you set down some dry leaves for kindle, but didn’t pry.
---------------------------
The tree branches rustled as the wind carried night across the sky. The fire lapped at the cold air of the season, and dinner was ready. Scooping some soup into some wooden bowls, Yoon bellowed the signal.
“Okay, good work everyone! Dinner’s ready.”
Six bodies crowded around the pot. Yoon raised a brow at the odd void he felt after seeing everyone present— everyone but you.
“Where’s Y/N?”
His question incited many heads to turn and scan the area.
“Ah… come to think of it, she said she’d be going to the bathroom…” Jaeha noted. “Quite some time ago,” he smirked awkwardly, trying to mask his worry as he noted the different colour of the sky now as opposed to when you spoke to him.
Concern began to shape Yoon’s features. “A while ago? Which way did she go?” His heart and mind began to race. His eyes wavered as he stood, and he set the ladle down in the pot filled with a concoction of gruel and herbs.
“She stepped off somewhere that way. I’ll take Shinah with me, so you can sit tight, Yoon. I’ll bring your little darling back soon.” Jaeha winked. Yoon felt his cheeks warm.
 “She’s not!—” The pretty boy genius cut himself off as he swallowed his pride. This was not the time to fall for Jaeha’s antics. He sifted through the possible fates you might be subject to while his eyes aren’t on you, and a sudden pang hit his chest. At the same moment, Yoon struck an odd realization.
Were you bothered by what he said earlier?
Concern started to blur into frustration, annoyance, and guilt. “God… you idiot! What a pain...” He exclaimed under his breath. “Ugh, I’ll look for her! I need to talk to her!” He blurted, hurriedly gathering a few supplies and setting off towards the direction Jaeha pointed in.
------------------------
It didn’t take long for Yoon to find you. You were a little ways out by the river. When he found you, the moonlight kissed your tears as they fell. You were hugging your knees as you watched the steady flow of the stream. The young boy clenched his chest in an attempt to quell an ache he knew he caused.
“Hey, Y/N—” He stepped closer to you, feeling his cheeks warm from the awkward predicament he’s put himself in. He tried to gather the words, but they just didn’t seem to want to come out. “You know, I—”
“I’m sorry,” you managed to say. He held his tongue. His throat felt tight.
That was his line.
“We’re dying just to survive— and I’m making light of things, I’m sorry. You were right.” You muttered through your sleeves as you wiped your disobedient tears. Yoon blinked. That’s not what he wanted to hear, and he was sure that wasn’t not the point you wanted to come to.
“That’s— That’s not it, Y/N, I—” He sighed. He set down his makeshift light source and sat down a ruler’s distance from you. “I’m the one who should be saying sorry. I completely went overboard—” He turned his gaze to the river. “I shouldn’t have raised my voice at you like that.” He balled his hands into fists on his lap as he fretted over you dimming your warm radiance all because of him. As silly as you were, your idiocy kept the group smiling on some of your worst nights— some of his worst nights— and was a warmth that was irreplaceable in his eyes. “We might be dying to survive, but— w-we can afford to spare a few weeds here and there.” He spoke haughtily.
His blue eyes shined as he lifted his gaze. He took a few shy glances at you before mumbling.
“A-At least the animals won’t have to worry about an injury anymore, right?”
You turned to him in surprise. His cheeks were red and he looked away when you looked at him. A smile creeped on your lips— that one definitely landed for you.
"Yeah. Do you think raccoons would grind the herbs the way you do? They've got opposable thumbs, don't they?"
His eyes widened as his gaze returned to you. Your smile was infectious, and he began to feel its symptoms.
"You idiot." He whispered. "Even if they did, they wouldn't be able to do it half as well as I can."
With that, you both chuckled in each other's company before you made your way back for dinner.
Dr Yun Yun at it Again
Genre: hurt/comfort
T/W: none
A/N: yeah idk where this fic went but it's ok I guess
Tumblr media
That's why I'm stricter with you
Today – you made a mistake.
You were trying to do the right thing and make the best food you could – just like Yun taught you – but you took it too far.
You tasted raw ingredients to make sure when they were done cooking – they'd taste just right – bad idea
Later in the day you felt fatigued and heavy for some reason.
"Did I work too hard today?" You thought to yourself.
Then
It dawned on you
The raw ingredients
The raw ingredients were making you feel heavy and out of sorts.
You did your best to hide it as you helped carry firewood back into camp.
But someone in the group knows you better than anyone – and can sense any change in behavior – that someone, is Yun.
As you headed back to camp carrying the firewood your arms felt heavier and heavier and your head grew fuzzy.  But you did your best to shake it and preservier!
Little did you know
Someone was watching
"Sin ah – can you carry (Y/N)'s firewood back to camp?"
Huh?
You looked back and to see who said that
Yun was staring at you with severity and concern
Sin ah took your portion of firewood and continued back to camp with Ao, while you and Yun stayed back and stood in the middle of a field.
(Wh… why… why did he make Sin ah take my firewood… why is he staring at me like this)
Yun just stood there with his arms crossed with a furrowed brow.
(Aw jeez… he's onto me isn't he)
Yun took a deep sigh – vocal enough that you heard it loud and clear at your distance.
"(Y/N)... I've told you time and time again to watch your health!  What did you do this time?"
"Urp… you mean .. you could tell?  That I'm unwell?"
"Idiot!  Of course I'd notice!" Yun yelled at your face then turned his head and grew red. "I …". Yun cut off what he wanted to say and grabbed your hand leading you towards camp in a hurried pace.
You passed Yona and Hak – they tried to say hi but you were instantly pulled into Yun's tent.
"Lay down"
"Ah… ok…"
You laid down feeling so nervous that you had inconvenienced him and gone against what he had advised.
A gentle hand grazed your forehead as your eyes met with his.
"I knew it… a fever…" he sighed "how did this happen (Y/N)?"
"I.. well…" you looked away nervously "I just wanted… to be a good cook like you!"
"Eh?"
"I… tasted raw food.."
"...idiot!"
You shuttered at his use of language as you noticed his eyes water.
"Yun I… it's really not that bad… I'm just… fatigued is all…"
"You don't get it!" Yun's voice cracked a little as he shouted. He grabbed your hand and buried his face in your stomach "I.. can't… I… don't want anything to happen to you.  I don't want to lose you.  That's why…"
"..why?.."
"Why I'm stricter with you!"
Your tummy ached as you looked up at him with hazy vision.  You rested your hand on his cheek and smiled. "Hey… it's ok… I'm not planning on leaving anytime soon ~"
Yun cleared his throat and looked away
"R-right well anyways!  I'll get to treating you now" he said flusteredly.
You smiled gently through your hazed expression as you watched the sweet boy prepare medicines and such.
Thank you 😊
Hello darling!
Thank you so much for participating in the 200 Followers Drabble Prompt Challenge event!
And what a challenge, indeed 😳 I've never written character x reader before 😅 However, I thought I would give it a try, since this is a "challenge" event and it would totally take me out of my comfort zone. @kyanma137 is going to have to tell me how I did, since she is the expert at character x reader 🥰
I hope you like it 💚
Title: A Forkful Fandom: Yona of the Dawn/Akatsuki no Yona Characters: Yun x Fem!Reader Prompt: #27 - Trying to hide your injury from them, but failing miserably Word Count: 100
“Where do you think you’re going?” Yun suspiciously asks as you try to sneak out of the room. “No where,” you respond quickly while fumbling to put your shirt on. “You’re hiding something aren’t you?” Yun asks as he folds his arms. “Me? Hiding something? No, of course not,” you answer nervously. “Then what’s that under your shirt? He asks while pointing a finger. You stiffen and mumble out an answer. “Sorry, I couldn’t hear you.” “I got stabbed,” you reluctantly answer with a sigh. “By who?” Yun asks with narrow eyes. “A fork,” you plainly answer. “Specifically Kija’s fork.”
Oh, look at me, defaulting to dialogue 🙄 I swear, I can't write anything that doesn't include dialogue. I hope you like it though 😶 I know you put romantic, and I tried to allude to them being in a relationship, but this hilarious idea came to me and I couldn't stop laughing 😂 I hope you weren't looking for something more angsty... Sorry if you were 😅
Again, thanks for participating!!! 💚
All completed drabbles will be posted on my A03 account.
Love Language|| Yona of The Dawn
“I wanna be fluent in your love language. Learning your love language.”
A/N: Almost every man in this show is fine asl I won’t lie to yall. Slight spoilers on Zeno’s part if you’ve only watched the anime.
Warnings: none!
Characters: Yona, Hak, Yoon, Ki-ja, Shin-ah, Jae-ha, Zeno
Word Count: 1425
Plot Synopsis: The 5 love languages; physical affection, words of affirmation, acts of service, gift giving, and quality time, how the Yona of the Dawn characters love you Ft. gender neutral reader
Tumblr media
Yona
Love Language: quality time and gift giving
So if you and Yona are together before she leaves the castle/ during her time at the castle she showers you in gifts
Like if Yona’s spoiled, imagine how spoiled you’re gonna be
She often has her servants go and give you gifts if she couldn’t directly give it to you
They’re so tired but also happy for her because, how sweet
She’d also blow off her duties as the princess to spend time with you
Sure she gets in trouble, but King Il could never truly punish his daughter, especially not when she’s happier spending time with you
After she escapes the castle however, she can’t really get you gifts or lavish you in the way she used to
As a result she puts in double the work in trying to spend as much time with you as possible
She also learns to sew and weave from Yun to try and give you presents
Sweetheart’s trying her best ok
Yona also appreciates this effort from you
She often times feels like a burden to her friends and she can get insecure and feel like she’s bothering you
But if you pull her aside to give her something you handmade or bought at the market, suddenly all is right in the world and she’s on cloud nine
Hak
Love Language: acts of service (also teasing but what would you call that?)
So anyways, I said what I said and that’s all I need to say about this issue
Jkjkjk but seriously, Hak is such a devoted person that he’d literally do anything you asked of him
Sure he fronts and will tease you but like “Hak honey... why are you making me a plate? I can make my own?”
“Sit down, I’ll bring it to you.”
He’s literally so sweet, always going above and beyond to not just protect you but to make sure all your needs are seen to
You better reciprocate tho
Like sit him down and remind him to slow down, if you protect him, his heart will melt ever so slightly
Also if you can’t fight, that’s fine! But patch his wounds up after a battle and kiss every cut, bro that’s not Hak, that’s a puddle of love.
Yoon
Love Language: acts of service
Ok so Yun is kind of difficult
He has a hard time communicating his needs to you because 1) he’s inexperienced and 2) he’s not really used to asking and receiving things of people
But the one thing he does know how to do and the way he knows how to love best is through acts of service
The world’s dangerous and he knows that he isn’t entirely built for combat nor has he put forth the effort to be a combatant but he swears to protect you until his dying breath
It’s a pretty steep promise from him but he meets the goal everyday
Aside from that, if you’re ever sick or injured, Yun is immediately all over you checking for any signs of anything that could worsen your condition
After he knows you’re in the clear he’s all mad that you got hurt and worried him
As for him, please help him with keeping the camp functioning
It seems like the bar is low but it takes a lot out of him to run camp especially considering all the tasks he has to see to
Sure the others help but they aren’t always there and they aren’t always able to move much less help with chores
That’s why it means so much for him that you help him
He doesn’t even have to say anything, it’s like you just get it and his heart feels so full
Ki-ja
Love Language: words of affirmation and acts of service
If there’s ever a doubt in your mind that Ki-ja doesn’t love you, it won’t be there for long
Whether yall are together or apart, he likes to remind everyone in the vicinity that he does love you and that to him you are the most beautiful person in the world
He’s a somewhat prideful person as well as being very narrow minded, to him, it’s the most obvious thing in the world that his s/o is the best, should that information not be shared?
He likes to prove that he’s strong or worthy by carrying various things for you
This coupled with he fact that Hak takes every chance to tease him leads to what essentially amounts to competitions in your honor to prove Ki-ja’s worthiness as your boyfriend
Sweetie Hak is literally just messing with you
Anyways, he’s not necessarily insecure, but he’s never been in a relationship so he does like to hear that you also think he’s the best
Call him pet names or give him a nickname and he’s blushing as he  proudly proclaims to the world his love for you and how “My dear has given me a special name to show their love for me!”
He’s such a sap
All in all, Ki-ja would move mountains to see you smile
Shin-ah
Love Language: quality time
Shin-ah lived in a cave for most of his life up until this point
While he has gotten better with talking and overall being more open, having friends is a new experience for this man, let alone being in a relationship
So really the only way he knows how to show affection is by spending time with you
And offering you his meals, like the day you asked him out he pulled a fish from the river and offered it to you
But he just likes being around you, your presence just makes him feel calm and safe
His ideal date would be you, him, and Ao just chillin makin flower crowns or smthn
Jae-ha
Love Language: physical affection and acts of service
So obviously Jae-ha shows love through physical affection
However, Jae-ha as a person is just someone who generally thinks talk is somewhat cheap without follow through
Sure he says plenty of flirtatious remarks and is generally flirty but he never really follows through with any of his remarks
He’s also just a really loyal person, so to him if you do things that tangibly show your love for him, he’ll be over the moon
Especially at the beginning of your mutual feelings towards each other, what made him truly fall for you was when you took out an archer that was set to kill him
Now that you’re both deep in your relationship, he takes any and every opportunity to just hold you
Whether it be extravagant displays of PDA or just holding you tight in a crowd, Jae-ha is very liberal with his affection and doesn’t mind giving you as much of it as he can
He loves to hold you, but he isn’t clingy with it
Like he’s definitely dramatic but he of all people knows what it’s like to feel chained down  initially was scared to even be with you in the beginning because of that fear but anyways-
So he definitely gives you space if you need it but as soon as you’re ready to come back he’s all like “my lap has been feeling a little empty lately”
You just roll your eyes and move to take your rightful spot in his arms again
Zeno
Love Language: quality time
Zeno is immortal, whether or not he ends up outliving you or not, the man has seen a lot
So he values every second he gets to spend with you
He gets very apologetic when he is unable to spend time with you, he feels very guilty because he feels like there isn’t enough time for him to express how much you mean to him
He tends to just make up reasons to spend time with you...they're always obvious, like he isn’t even subtle about it
“Y/N please, allow me to escort you back to camp”
“I’m fine, it’s right there, I think I’ll be able to handle it.”
“But what if you trip????”
Yeah they’re really flimsy and dumb but if you let him spend time with you he’ll be the happiest man in the world
He’s also really attentive
He’s good at noticing little details about you and remembering them
You mean the world to him so if you reciprocate and notice little things about him or go out of your way to spend time with him, he’s beaming for the rest of the day.
In ancient times, the [L/N] clan was the most powerful clan of their people, having blonde hair. They were believed to have special abilities such as healing and were known to be connected with nature. However, as time went on, the other clans began to fear the [L/N]. So much so, that those of the [L/N] with blonde hair were mascaraed with the help of the surrounding villages. With the powerful clan members gone, the remaining members of the [L/N] were subject to slavery. What used to be the most powerful and largest clan became the smallest and weakest.
My mom used to tell me that story every time a full moon rose in the sky, indicating that it was time to start making the dye. “This is to protect you, you know that right?” she would cup my face and I would nod. Depending on what we had, we would use special beans that would turn dark, the vegetables from our small garden, or ink made with crushed dry leaves.
Even as a child, I knew I was different from the rest of my siblings. Unlike them, I had white hair growing at the nape of my scalp and never seemed to get seriously injured. I think it was mostly because my parents were extremely overprotective of me, rather than me getting hurt myself. It was suffocating, the amount of eyes that were on me at one time, during every time of the day and night. I was never allowed to play with the other kids and was instead trained to defend myself “in case something were to happen” to me, as my father would suggest. I was never allowed to go to the festival during the harvest because there were too many people, and it would be bad if the dye washed off my hair. You get the idea so I won’t bore you with the details.
“____, I’m going to the-“
“The festival; I know.” I tried to sound like it didn’t bother me. How could it? This was the way it always was. I was used to this by now.
“I’ll bring back a souvenir for you,” Mom pressed a kiss to my temple as dad ushered the rest of my siblings out the door.
The drums and horns were loud enough to be heard from where I was on the roof, but the parade itself, and all those taking part of it, were too small to be seen. I sighed. I wonder what it would be like, to be normal. Maybe then I could be part of a real family.
 After the parade ended, and the lights dimmed slightly, I realized it must have been time for the traditional dancing done by the older girls in the village. My sister was going to be there.
“Don’t worry ____. I’ll make sure you’re the first who gets to see my dance,” she told me as she circled around me. Her movements were fluid like the stream behind our straw house. Her long hair danced in the wind along with her, like the long grass that waves during the summer. She placed a warm smile on her face and winked as I watched in awe. She was absolutely beautiful, and what Father would call “a perfect daughter.” She was so perfect that she was going to marry the first born of the 2nd most powerful clan.
Trying to see the dance from here was useless. I climbed down and opened the door when I heard something behind me. Rushing in to our home, I shut the door quietly and left through the back, treading through the river and into the forest. Once on the other side, I faced my house again, scanning the area for whoever had come.
“Where did she go?” A voice sounded.
“Don’t know, but she’s just a kid. 7, right? She couldn’t have gone far.” My heart pounded quickly. I was just a kid. I was 7. I was not far at all. They were looking for me. I turned around again and ran deeper. Everything was dark. The bells chiming from the village seemed so far away, as if it was never real to begin with. I passed tree after tree, ran through bush after bush. The silence was deafening. I crouched in a bush and pressed my hand over my mouth. Footsteps ran past me, and a few minutes later, they returned and did not come back. I waited, and waited some more, until making my way back to the edge of the forest.
Everything was the way I had left it. The doors were closed, windows covered. The ladder leaning on the side of the house. I looked to the distance and took a breath. I wouldn’t hurt to check it out. No one was out here. Not anymore. No one would look for me, because as far as they know, there has never been a girl named ____ living in the village.
My eyes widened as I neared the village. The food smelled amazing. I was never brought any leftovers from the festival, and this realization struck me with bitterness. As I took a step forward, I heard a loud shriek. The fireworks had started. Looking up, I saw nothing but a single arrow in the sky. It hit the home directly in front of me. Before I knew it, the entire village was engulfed in flames. People fled from the center of the plaza to the surrounding farmland where I stood still. I had never seen so many people in one place, so much fire all at once. All the fireworks that had not been launched into the sky were now shooting towards the stars.
My amazement was interrupted by an old man. He had grabbed my arm and smiled. Maybe he was here to help me. Mom always told me stories of her father, who was a kind elder. Maybe it was him? “Is this who we’re looking for?” He turned around, dragging me with him. Before me was a towering man with a mustache so silly that if I were not in danger right now, I would have laughed. The man bent down on one knee in front of me, waving his men over. A haunting scream pierced through my ears.
“Please! She’s just a little girl!” It was my mother, pleading to one of the soldiers as he held her from rushing to me. Her face was distorted, her hair burnt. Tears glossed over her cheeks as she tried to reach me. The man before me cupped my cheeks as his men contained my family and the other clans. “I’ve heard of people like you,” he told me. “Strong and beautiful. I hear they’re good healers too, and know much about medicine because of their connection to nature. Is that true little one?”
I tried to turn to my mother. What was the correct answer? Of all the questions she prepared me to answer in emergencies, this was not one of them. “Is that your mom?” I nodded. In no less than a second, my mother was cut down before me. Next was my father, and then my little brother and sister. My big sister was the only one left. “If you come with me, your sister can come too. I’ve never married sisters before.” My sister genuinely loved the man she was to marry, and she was the only one who I felt truly loved me. There was no way I would make her do this.
“I don’t have a big sister,” I shrugged.
“Good girl,” he pat my head and took my hand, leading me to his palanquin. I took one last glance at my sister, who was down on her knees. It was selfish of me to have done that. But the truth is: I was not like my sister, who was so much stronger than I could ever be. I would not be able to make it in this world if she died, but it would hardly make a difference to her if I died.
I looked out the window to see what used to be my home town. The night air that usually smelled fresh reeked of dead bodies.
"What's the situation with the latest stock?"
"All accounted for, sir. I was told that two very attractive units showed up at the shop late this afternoon. Apparently, one of them has bright red hair that should fetch a high price..."
"Oh? Good... I can't wait to see just how much."
The man at the door left Yan Kum-ji alone in his room, along with two girls that sat on either side of him. One of the girls had a very slender, curvy figure that held onto Kum-ji's right arm. The girl to his left was young but her eyes sparkled with such attractiveness, that the greedy lord just had to keep her for himself instead of letting her be sold along with the other captured women of Awa.
This girl was (Y/N). She had been in Kum-ji's grasp for about 12 days. 12 days of pure torture. One other girl had been trapped for longer than she, yes. But she was lucky; she wasn't some toy that Kum-ji played with day in and day out. She was becoming desperate, and wanted a saviour.
(Y/N) cringed at the thought of the two new girls being captured, and wished they didn't have to suffer like others were as she sat there.
Yan Kum-ji stood up from his "throne", and began to leave the room as two of his guards entered.
"Make sure these two stay put. Do whatever you have to do," he said menacingly as he walked through his sliding doors. The lord disappeared from sight, and the guards laughed evilly as they approached (Y/N) and the other innocent girl. They both knew what they were in for.
"No, please! Leave us alone!" they would both cry out and thrash about. The men yanked them by the hair and dragged them to a room next door where two posts stood in the middle of the room. They were tied to each one separately with burning rope and sat in the dark, waiting hours for someone to untie them again.
Please... someone save us. We need it...
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Yun and Yona grunted as they were both shoved into a dark room where lots more women had fallen victim to Kum-ji's trap; the two most recently captures units. A plan devised by the princess herself and set in motion by the beautiful boy genius Yun, they were both on an undercover mission to set free these poor, innocent girls.
The two of them sat there, wondering what will happen next that will commence the rescue even further. Yun was inspecting Yona's now sprained ankle from the hard fall, when the wooden door creaked open with such light a flooding inside.
A tall, looming dark silhouette stood in the doorway as he looked to and fro across the ladies huddled in the corners.
"They weren't lying, this looks like the best batch yet." Yona stared at him intently, mentally profiling the man who has caused so much pain and grief in Awa. A rage deep inside her burned like a wild fire.
"My pockets will be lined with the Kai Empire's money," he finished, sounding satisfied.
"Lord Kum-ji, will we be taken to our jobs soon? My family is starving! I want to get to work so that I can help them."
"Oh you'll be working alright. You'll have more jobs than you can't possibly handle." Yona and Yun's expressions saddened, but angered when they realised that these girls had been trapped for so long and they still think this is all apart of them getting a job. It was nothing but far from it.
"So you're the rare little red head then? You're gonna fetch me a hefty price, if I don't decide to keep you for myself," the lord said darkly, lifting Yona toward him by grabbing her precious red hair.
"Yona!" Yun panicked in his mind. He was entrusted by the Thunder Beast, along with the other dragon warriors, to ensure that Yona was safe in his hands on this deathly dangerous mission. He couldn't let his new friends down.
"Yan Kum-ji, where did you take my friend? What are you doing with her? Is she working?" one of the girls anxiously asked. Kum-ji walked further into the dark room where the girl who spoke sat, and ferociously kicked her in his side. The other women cleared out of the way and shrieked as the girl fell to her side, clutching her hip.
"That's Lord Kum-ji to you, sweetheart." Still holding a firm grip on Yona's hair, he walked back to the entrance. "As for your friend, she is doing just fine. I think I may have to keep her a little longer, seeing how fun she is to play with," he grinned with such an evil spirit.
"He's... taken a girl for himself!?" Yona freaked when she heard the reality of what this man had been doing behind the scenes of this whole human trafficking operation. It made her sick to the stomach, and her eyes held a raging blaze.
There was a long pause before Kum-ji threw Yona onto the ground again. His hand was trembling slightly, and his face had never looked so surprised. "...On second thoughts I don't need another girl as worthless as you, red-head. As worthless as any of you!" With those last words, he stomped out of the door with a mercenary closing it behind him.
"Hey, are you hurt?" Yun asked desperately as she picked herself up from the ground. However, Yona ignored his question and made her way over to the girl that had been kicked earlier. She was sitting up now, still holding her left side.
"Are you alright?" the princess asked worriedly. The girl flinched at the redhead talking to her, but relaxed soon after. She nodded her head slowly and sighed sadly.
"What was that you asked Kum-ji about? It was about your friend, wasn't it?"
The girl nodded her head rapidly as tears threatened to fall. "He... he came to see the new girls that had been put in this room. He took one look at my friend and saw how slim and curvy she was; she's very beautiful. Then he took her away and I haven't seen her since!" She cried into her knees as she recalled the not-so-nice memory. Yona could only put a hand on her shaking shoulders to comfort her.
"There was another girl..." a gloomy voice spoke from the far side of the room. "(Y/N) was her name. She was taken by Lord Kum-ji for himself too."
"Another one!?" Yun exclaimed, clearly upset about the topic.
"I'm Yuri... Besides me she's been here the longest, for 12 days. I'd say she's the youngest out of all of us too..." Yona's eyes widened with horror for the poor young girl in Kum-ji's grasp.
"12 days!? I've barely been able to withstand this crap for 12 minutes!" Yun angrily exploded. "Why did Kum-ji take her?"
"When her and I met in this room, the first thing I saw was how incredible her eyes were. They literally sparkled like glitter. I could only imagine that would be the reason Kum-ji took her away."
"Well we have to save her too, right?" Yun asked as she turned to face Yona behind him. She nodded with determination. "Of course."
"Save? You two aren't really serious, are you?" Yuri laughed at the silliest idea of possibly being rescued by someone; someone who would be fighting for them and their freedom.
"We're being completely serious. We've come to get you girls out of here," Yona explained. Half of the girls gasped for joy, whilst the other half continued to feel sorry for themselves and did nothing.
"Heh, you're obviously not from around here. Because if you were, you'd know how ridiculous you sound right now."
"A-And don't forget to save my friend too!" The other girl suddenly cried desperately, hoping that the rescue mission was true. Not too long after a conversation about Yun and Yona's true objective, each of the girls in the room were blindfolded, and escorted to a boat.
This is it...
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"You lovely ladies are coming with me now," the dreaded voice of Kum-ji sounded out through the room. After two long hours of being tied up in the darkness, the lord had finally returned.
(Y/N) and the other girl wearily lifted their heads to see the familiar dark shadow looming overhead. They were both roughly untied, and had two guards each that took them to the same boat with all the other girls.
However, they were taken to a completely different room. It was smaller, and had two cage-looking objects on either side of the room. Before they knew it, they were both locked inside and were left in the room alone again.
The boat had begun sailing and the waters were rough, causing the cages to be thrown around like a toy in a dog's fangs. (Y/N) had the feeling that they had purposefully not been tied up again for this very reason; so they could be thrown around.
"I... I want to get out of here..." (Y/N)'s voice trembled. "I... need to get out..." Slowly overtime, the young girl began to lose her mind, her head racing at a millions miles a second as the boat continued to sway. The other girl, however, was fine.
"I... don't want to die... we're all going to die... out here... on the ocean..."
Suddenly, (Y/N) heard the noise of a cage door unlocking. She sharply turned her head to the right, and saw the girl climb out easily. She smiled, satisfied with the outcome.
"How... how did-"
"How did I get out?" She held up something in her hand and dangled it; a single key. She smirked. (Y/N) had no idea how she managed to get the key, but she awed at the girl's sneaky skills.
"Get... me out of here." The much older girl stared down at her and for only a second did she look empathetic, looking deep into (Y/N)'s incredibly unique sparkling eyes. But her face quickly changed.
"Sorry kid... Every girl for themselves." With that she dashed out of the room with key in hand. (Y/N)'s eyes sparkled more than they usually did, but with tears. She was left alone again.
"No! ...Come back! Get me out...!" She cried out uselessly. She heard faint noises of guards yelling at the runaway girl to stop, and (Y/N) knew she was long gone.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The fight between pirates and Yan Kum-ji raged on, and was only fuelled by the anger of each opposing side. All of the captured girls with Yona and Yun had agreed to help them on their mission, even Yuri.
They were in the midst of tying up all of the mercenaries that had been taken down, when they suddenly heard approaching footsteps. Each of them turned their heads to see if it was another soldier. But no, it was one of the girls themselves.
"Azumi! It's you!" the girl's friend cried as she ran and greeted her. The girl, Azumi, looked puffed out and had a pained expression.
"But...How did you get out!?" Yuri asked.
"My... my cage fell over and... and the door broke open... by itself..." Azumi tried explaining, clearly out of breath.
"Cage? You were locked in a cage?"
"What about (Y/N)? Was she with you?" Yun asked, now very nervous.
"She was... and I tried getting her out but... the guards found me and started taking me away... I had to run..." Azumi looked as though she was filled with guilt, but Yun had seen this before. He knew that there was something she was lying about.
"...Where is (Y/N)?" Yun asked in a dangerously serious tone. Azumi weakly pointed a finger to a flight of stairs leading further into the boat as she leaned on her friend for supposed support.
Yun looked around, and saw that Shin-ah was on the same boat as them. He was fighting with some mercenaries, easily taking them down. "Shin-ah, watch over the girls for me!" Yun called out to him. The blue dragon turned around and nodded his head.
"Yona, you stay here with the others. I'm going to look for (Y/N) myself." Yun rushed down the stairs as fast as he could but quietly at the same time, being cautious to not attract any unwanted attention from the bad guys.
He looked through every door, and through every passageway, but he couldn't find the so-called cages anywhere. Yun was starting to believe that maybe Azumi was lying about (Y/N)'s whereabouts too.
"All alone, all alone..." Yun heard the barely audible voice over the sounds of war, and tried following the source. He went into the same room he looked in before, but didn't see anything.
"She left me... to die..." He heard the voice again, and saw that he had missed a room on the far end of the passage. The door was camouflaged with the wall around it.
Yun opened the door carefully, not wanting to scare whoever was inside. He looked inside, and sure enough Azumi was telling the truth about one thing; that they were trapped in cages. One cage was wide open and empty, the other one held a frightened-out-of-her-mind girl.
Her eyes were wide with fear, like she was a defenceless animal watching all around her for the enemy. But at the same time, Yun saw that her eyes were quite literally sparkling with the light shining into the room from behind him. He knew that this girl was (Y/N).
"Don't worry, I'm here to save you," Yun spoke softly as he approached the locked cage. The lock on the door was very big, way too big to be broken by falling over on it's own.
"She... left me..." Yun heard (Y/N) choke out, her eyes continuing to stare at nothing in particular. Yun's eyes furrowed as he knew full well who she was talking about.
"I know, but it's okay now. I'm here to save you." He looked around the room and saw that some sort of deco was being held up on the wall by pins. He took the pins out and let the decoration fall to the ground, as he began picking the lock.
The door swung open and Yun reached his hand out. (Y/N) wasn't taking it as she was still in a daze, so he grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the confined space. He began running out of the room, making sure he held (Y/N)'s hand tight.
Yuri was right; she is young. She looks like she's around my age, maybe even a little younger. She couldn't have been looking for work to be tricked. Someone must've captured her himself.
Yun continued to think to himself as he found his way back up on deck.
"We're all... going to die..." (Y/N) continued to mumble incoherent things. Yun couldn't stand the suffering she must've gone through. He stopped running, and pulled (Y/N) into a tight embrace to know that she had a saviour right there with her.
"You're not going to die. There are people here who are fighting for you. We're all going to get out of this alive!" He pulled away, and saw that (Y/N)'s glittering eyes were now focusing on his own. He smiled, knowing that she was regaining her sanity again.
"We're... being rescued?" she asked confusingly, but hopefully. Yun nodded happily. "That's right, so lets go." They continued going up to the deck where all the other girls were. Yun looked around, but saw that Yona had gone elsewhere.
"(Y/N), you're alright!" Yuri was the first to see them both. Yun looked at Azumi, and she could tell that she was in a world of trouble. Yun let go of (Y/N)'s hand as Yuri hugged her, and walked over to Azumi and her friend.
"Azumi, why did you lie?"
"Hey, in a situation like this it's every girl for themselves," she replied smugly. Yun was slightly shocked to see Azumi cut the act so quickly. But he was still enraged.
"No. In a situation like this you're meant to help each other, not abandon someone in need!" Azumi just stared at Yun, clearly uninterested in what he had to say.
"(Y/N) was scared enough as it is! Damn it, she looks to be 2 years younger than you! Why didn't you help her!?" Yun was shouting now, and looked like he could hit Azumi at any given moment.
A pair of arms wrapped themselves around Yun's waist, holding him back from moving any further. "Yun, I'm okay now. You don't have to do that..." Yun at first didn't recognise it as (Y/N)'s voice, for she was speaking normally now. But after hearing her sanity fully regained, he stopped himself, and walked away from the situation.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The battle ended with the pirates' glorious victory and the death of Yan Kum-ji himself, all thanks to Princess Yona. Everyone celebrated for hours into the night, but soon the next day approached and the group was getting ready to leave.
"Are you sure you're going to be okay on your own?" Yun asked (Y/N). She simply smiled at her saviour.
"I'll be fine. Don't worry about me."
"What about that Azumi girl?"
"Yeah, she's not the nicest girl around here. I'll just have to make sure I stay away from her." (Y/N) showed of a closed-eye smile, trying to hide the sadness in her beautiful eyes from Yun. But he could see right through her.
Unexpectedly, as everyone had begun leaving already, Yun gave (Y/N) one last embrace and whispered to her.
"Whenever you're scared, just remember that your beautiful boy genius will save the day..." Yun said jokingly. (Y/N) hugged him back, and the broke off. Yun jogged towards the others to keep up with them. "I'll be back soon!" he waved to everyone.
"I know you will!" (Y/N) yelled back to him. The next moment, the people who had rescued her and all the girls in need, vanished from sight.
Ah that’s okay! I know the feeling Please take care of yourself. That’s the priority. We will wait and love whatever you write 🥺❤️ love you!
Thank you so much anon! I'm back now! ^^ (hopefully) and I'll use this as my announcement. Summary: Thank you's and apologies, life updates, plans for this blog. To everyone who has supported this blog, and to those who may have been waiting for years after I went on hiatus, and maybe even up til now, I want to say thank you so much for your support and expectations, I'm back. Because I'm still a student, I really want to make sure that the way I treat this blog will be sustainable in the long run, so it will take some time for me to get the rest of my asks out and the askbox open again. I am now studying literature, language, and writing full-time now, and I couldn't help but think about this blog from time to time in my time away. I've been staying on top of akayona updates, and things seem dire so far, don't they? I hope I can start bringing some comfort for that again soon, and even better quality content. That being said, I am also worrying about work and finances now, and have enabled tips for this blog. Please feel free to leave a tip if you feel like it, I'll really appreciate it! Otherwise, your comments and kind words have and will always be more than enough to keep me going. Because I'm studying things like this (writing, reading, etc) full time now, I've been thinking about opening commissions. I'm completely new to that so I'll probably stick to tips for now. In other news though, I'm also thinking about expanding this blog to be multifandom, but so far, really, I only have one other fandom in mind that I want to write for, so basically, I have plans for this blog to write for 2 fandoms (Akatsuki no Yona and Tsukino Productions), and was wondering if you'll still support me in that endeavour. Even if I do decide to do so, it will take a while setting things up, so sorry about how messy/hard to find things will be. Always feel free to ask me about anything, including for where your favourite work might be. I'll try making a masterlist and various posts to organize and make things easier! With that all said, I'm so so sorry for the long wait, and I apologize for the even longer wait, but I am hoping to get my asks out soon in the meantime! As always, my askbox is open for chatting ^^ I hope everyone's well, whether you're still following this blog or not!
Dr. Yun Yun for The Rescue!
Genre: fluff
Characters: Yun x Reader
T/W: none
A/N: I has bad headache and imagined Yun helping me with it 🥰🫠💕
Tumblr media
Tch. I'm doing this to help you feel better
"Ow ow ow" you complained.  The pain in your head was treading down your face turning into a terrible migraine.  You laid down and tried to think about something else to distract from the hurt, but it was no use.
A head peeped into your tent.
"(Y/N)?  I thought I heard you in here.  What's going on?  Are you not feeling well?"
It was Yun.
You turned a little red and nodded hesitantly, not wanting to admit your pain to Yun because he had told you for a while now that you need to drink plenty of water and eat properly in order to avoid this recurring problem.
A loud and exasperated sigh exhaled from Yun's mouth as he moved closer to you.  He grabbed his cantine and handed it to you and took your hand in preparation to press your head pressure point.
"WAIT!  YUN!  IM BEGGING YOU!  HAVE MERCY!  YOU KNOW I HATE THAT SO MUCH IT HURTS WORSE THAN THIS MIGRANE WAHAHAHA 😭😭"
"tch!" Yun sighed.  "You know that's the quickest remedy to relieve your pain (Y/N)".
You gave him puppy dog eyes as you squeezed his hand.  "Pleeeeease Yun?  Isn't there ANY OTHER WAY WAHHH" you cried.
Yun let out yet another sigh as he blushed.  "Okay, but you owe me for this.". Yun grabbed some jars of what seemed like elixirs, and a ribbon.  He sat behind you, scooted in close and gently grabbed your head.  "D-don't get any wrong ideas about this!!  I'm just… treating you… ok?" he mumbled as he rested your head on his lap and ever so gently combed your hair into a loose ponytail with a beautiful embroidered blue hair ribbon.  "Mm" you exhaled as you already began to feel in higher spirits.  Yun blushed furiously as he opened one of his jars he had grabbed.  You could almost feel his legs quiver – maybe you just imagined it?  He doused his hands in the elixir – it smelt of flowering fields 🌸🌷.  You sniffed the air and sighed happily.  Yun jolted.  "That smells so nice Yun 💕 what is it?" you said ever so softly and gleefully as if you were drifting off.  Yun got a little excited.  "Oh!  I'm glad you asked – at the last place we camped, there was a meadow nearby with a light purple flower that had a peculiar scent.  I looked it up in my book of medicine – it said it can clear up body aches!  So I picked a few and ground them up and stewed them".  "Wow Yun… you're amazing".  You said calmly as you relaxed your head further into his lap.  Yun jolted.  "A-anyway… I'll get to the treatment now".
Yun rubbed the elixir on his fingers and placed them on the sides of your forehead and began to massage.  "Ah… ow… ooh…. Ohh…".  Yun massaged deeper.  You could feel all of that built up stress and tension melting away.  The aroma of flowers filled the air.  You took a big whiff and imagined yourself napping in a peaceful open flower field.
"Yun… Yun…. You're wonderful… thank you" You exhaled subconsciously as you drifted off to a peaceful slumber.
We were left with a blushie doctor Yun Yun with a sleeping patient on his lap 🤷🏼‍♀️
Gestures of Kindness
Genre: hurt/comfort/fluff
T/W: none
A/N: yeah yeah, another sleep/hurt/comfort. But you know, it helps calm me down 😆 anywho, the Happy Hungry Bunch is camped up for the night -- but you just can't seem to sleep!
Tumblr media
I only did it because you were keeping me up!
“ow ow.”
you tossed and turned in your sleeping bag.  The ground we were sleeping on tonight was more rocky than most.  You tried not to wake anyone, but it was no use, you just couldn’t get comfortable.  You let out the quietest sigh you could as you decided to just lay on your back and admire the stars.
(Wow, they’re so clear…) you thought as you yawned.  You then looked around at all of the sleeping bodies around you (sure is lonely being the only one awake… Yona isn’t even up training her sword fighting).  You sighed again and proceeded to toss and turn.
toss.
(nope)
turn.
(nuh uh)
toss.
(there’s a root there)
turn.
“Oh honestly!!”
(Whuh… Wh.. who said that??)
In the blink of an eye your hands were both grabbed, and you were pulled up to a standing position and away from the sleeping bodies.  (Whuh…?  Where?). You were barely awake and the night was so dark, you couldn't tell where you were going or who was dragging you… But… The hand was so soft and warm… And the grip was somehow… Earnest?  You knew not to be afraid.
The person stopped and pulled you down, crouching a little.  You seemed to have gone through some sort of opening.
A match was lit.
A beautiful face with the bluest eyes met yours.
“Yun?!  Wh..?”. He covered your mouth “shhh!!  Honestly (Y/N), you're going to wake the entire Happy Hungry Bunch!”. He whispered sternly.  You nodded…. And looked around.  You were in a cozy little tent.
“Yun.. I thought we were too tired to set up a tent tonight??  What is this..?”. You whispered as you looked confused towards Yun.
Yun looked away as his cheeks flushed crimson red.  He fiddled with his shirt as he pouted.  “Your tossing and turning kept me up – I had no other choice”.
Yun may say things… Things that seem rude… But you've known him for awhile now… And you knew that wasn't completely true.
“Oh Yun.” You smiled at him.  “You did this because you wanted to help me sleep, didn't you?”.  Yun looked further away as he blushed harder “o-only because you were keeping me up”.
You leaned in and hugged him tight “thank you”.
“N-now get some shut eye already!  We have a big trek tomorrow.” Yun said as he awkwardly handed you a blanket.  You giggled as you took it and smiled earnestly towards the sweet boy.  “Thank you, Yun”.
You laid down and cuddled up in the soft blanket.  (Wait a minute!) You sniffed the blanket.  (Why does it smell so nice??).  Sniff sniff.  (Lavender!  There's no denying this entire blanket has been… Infused with lavender??  That's my favorite herb and… It's supposed to help someone relax and fall asleep!!  A-and!) you pet the blanket.  (This blanket doesn’t seem at all familiar either… is it new??).
You looked over to Yun who had curled up and fallen asleep instantly.  (heh.. tired little boy..).
(Wait a minute).
Next to the sleeping Yun lay a sewing needle, and dried lavender.
(Oh my goodness.. d-did he?  Did he sew me a new blanket and fill it with dried lavender?  He set up a cozy tent for us to sleep. AND made me this magical blanket?!)
Your heart began to flutter as you held the blanket against your burning face.
You admired the sweet sleeping boy.
(My oh my is he handsome… and thoughtful… and wonderful…).
You wrapped yourself again in your special blanket and lowered yourself, close to Yun, and slowly, and ever so gently, kissed his sweet forehead as you whispered “thank you”.
Moments passed, and even though you were now warm and cozy, and all calmed down, you couldn’t help but admire the sweet boy in front of you, as you reached and gently stroked his golden lockes.
(I.. love this boy…).
you connected foreheads with him, held his hands, and dozed off soundly.
200 Follower Drabble Prompt Challenge Event ✍🏻
Y’all, I finally made it to 200 followers!!! 🥳
Tumblr media
In honor of this achievement, I will be hosting a Drabble Prompt Challenge event!
(I know the 100 follower event didn’t go anywhere, and I’m really sorry about that, but I think this one will be much better)
The Drabble Prompt Challenge is exactly what it sounds like. My followers will have a chance to submit a prompt and character(s), and then I have to write a drabble story for it. A drabble is:
Tumblr media
Hence, the challenge!!! I have to write the story in exactly 100 words, no more and no less. This challenge will run from 12/18-12/31. You only have this window to submit your asks for the Drabble Prompt Challenge. Any asks submitted after 12/31, 11:59 PM EST (UTC-5) will be politely declined.
Rules:
This is a followers event only! If you feel more comfortable submitting on anon, please use the honor system 🙏🏻
I only write for the Yona of Dawn/Akatsuki no Yona fandom. Please choose characters from this fandom only. You can also choose any of my active OCs!
Each follower can submit a max of 2 prompts for the event. Again, please use the honor system if submitting on anon 🙏🏻
You can only submit 1 prompt at a time. I will not accept multiple prompts in the same ask, there's not enough room in 100 words.
You can only choose a max of 2 characters per prompt. Again, 100 words is not a lot to work with, so that’s why I have to put a limit.
If you choose more than 1 character, please note whether you want the drabble to be platonic or romantic.
If I receive multiple submissions of the same prompt and same character(s), I may choose to decline your submission and ask that you choose a new prompt or a new character. I will write the drabbles on a first come, first serve basis.
I do not write smut.
I do not write poly.
I only write hetero.
I reserve the right to decline any submission due to broken rules, unfollowed directions, or rudeness.
Yona of the Dawn | Akatsuki no Yona
Yun x Reader - Fluff
My Yona of the Dawn x Reader List for more one-shots! Check it out!
"When darkness falls upon the land, the dragons' blood will restore life once more. In accordance with the ancient pact, when the four dragons are gathered, the sword and shield that protect the king will awaken. The red dragon will return at dawn."
The priest Ik-su had finished conveying the voice of God to the Princess Yona. Yun sat intently and listened to, yet again, another message that God had supposedly given to him. Of course, he would get bored rather quickly. And so, Yun quietly returned to the hut where (Y/N) was waiting for everyone to come back.
"What was that all about? More mumbo jumbo from Ik-su again, was it?" (Y/N) asked her friend, finishing grinding some herbs for future medicinal use.
"Yeah, not that big of a deal. Honestly I don't know why he wants to help the princess so much. She's never even been outside of a castle before, she's so oblivious," Yun replied with a frustrated tone in his voice.
"You can't exactly blame her. From what Ik-su has told me, her father was all about keeping the peace throughout the entire kingdom. That means he would've wanted to keep his daughter safe."
Yun and (Y/N) met 8 years ago, when they were both just 7 years old. That morning, Ik-su told Yoon that he was going for a walk. Yun was a little worried, knowing that Ik-su will fall countless times and potentially hurt himself. So he then forced Ik-su to take him wherever he was going. They walked for a long time, and Yoon carried a small satchel full of all kinds of herbs to heal any kind of injury Ik-su sustained on the way.
"Ik-su, where are we walking to?" Yun asked after a long time of being impatient. Ik-su laughed and smiled at him saying, "Not where, but who." Yun, never understanding what went through that clumsy priest's head, didn't ask anymore about it.
They came to an opening through all of the trees they walked through, and saw a little girl eating an apple by a river. She was way too young to be by herself, and Yun stared at her questionably. He looked up at Ik-su, and saw only a wide smile through all the hair that covered his face. He walked up to the little girl slowly.
"Hello there," he sad quietly. The little one quickly turned her head and was frightened by the strangers that approached her. "We're not going to hurt you. My name is Ik-su, and this is Yun," he introduced. She looked at Yun, who gave her a smug look and rolled his eyes. Then, she looked back to the priest.
"Are you the priest that I'm supposed to find?" the girl asked, hoping the answer was yes. And it was. When she asked how he could be sure, he replied with, "God told me that you were here. He also told me that your name is (Y/N)." Her smile faded at the priest's response. "God doesn't exist," she said bluntly. Ik-su only smiled.
Yun's ears perked up when he heard (Y/N)'s reply to the priest. He was sure that she would be dumb enough to believe Ik-su, but he was surprised to hear her say the same thing that Ik-su told him when they first met.
Since that day Yun and (Y/N) had been living with the priest, making new medicine, reading books that Ik-su would bring back for them, and studying all kinds of things about the world. Since that day, their friendship has blossomed.
"Well sometimes I feel like I'm Ik-su's father or something, with me always having to help him and make sure he doesn't fall ill or get infected wounds. Honestly I had no idea someone so clumsy really could exist." (Y/N) finished her jobs for the day, and lay down across the dirty floor, sighing a heavy sigh.
"I have succumbed to ennui Yun," she said slowly and dramatically.
Yun stopped what he was doing to think about what (Y/N) said. Was that a sickness he had never heard before? Maybe an evil spirit? Was (Y/N) confessing that she was dying and she never told him?
"Relax Yun," (Y/N) interrupted his thinking, like she knew what his thoughts were exactly. "It is the feeling of listlessness and dissatisfaction arising from the lack of occupation or duty." She turned her head and looked at Yun's slightly concerned face, and finished her sentence. "I'm bored," she laughed at him.
Yun's face immediately relaxed and exhaled a relieved breath, but then quickly changed to an almost angry-looking face. "Were you trying to scare me!? I swear, you could've given me a heart attack!"
"Oh Yun. Lighten up a little! It was just a word you'd never heard of up until now," (Y/N) said defensively. "...But I have to admit, you're face was priceless!" She broke into fits of laughter whilst Yun's face changed to a shade of bright red. "Oh shut up."
So (Y/N) is bored, is she? Yun thought to himself what the two of them could do. Now that he had finished the remainder of his jobs, he too had "succumbed to ennui."
"Let's go exploring somewhere! To some place where neither of us have been before," (Y/N) said eagerly. Yun had no reason to hide his enthusiastic expression at (Y/N)'s idea, because he knew exactly where to go. He looked outside the doorway, and saw that the sun was already being painted a beautiful pink and orange color; it was just about sunset.
"I know the perfect place. Come on!" Yun grabbed hold onto (Y/N)'s hand, pulling her up off the ground, and started running through the trees away from Ik-su and the strange strangers.
There was a giant rock in between two trees that was impossible to pass. Yun stopped the both of them in front of the barricade. (Y/N) suddenly looked very confused.
"Just wait for it," he smiled widely whilst looking into (Y/N)'s eyes. "Wait for what?" she asked desperately wanting to know what Yun was doing. He looked up, and the sky was even more beautiful than before. There was a bush large enough to cover an opening just big enough for someone to crawl through. Yun revealed the secret path. He started crawling through and (Y/N) followed after.
Upon coming out of the other side, there was a large lake that separated where the two friends were standing from a distant island. The sky clearly reflected across the water, it could have easily been mistaken for a mirror if it didn't look so conspicuous. The surrounding trees created silhouettes on the water, and danced freely in the nearly unnoticeable winds.
"Yun, it's beautiful!" (Y/N) exclaimed in awe and wonder. Yun was happy with (Y/N)'s reaction to this magical place, he felt the same way when he discovered it only a couple of days ago.
His mind seemed to think only of (Y/N) when he visited this secret place. He believed that (Y/N) was more beautiful than what she thought this place was. For about a year, he had developed feelings for (Y/N) that he couldn't tell anyone. That was until Ik-su asked about it after hearing it from God, of course. He'd been so afraid to come out with it and tell (Y/N) how he felt. They were good friends; they treated each other like siblings and loved each other's company. He wasn't sure how (Y/N) felt about him.
Whilst she looked out across the glowing water, Yun inched little by little closer to her, and gave a small kiss on her cheek. (Y/N)'s eyes widened and she blushed a pink that was almost camouflaged by the sun's rays, but Yun saw it. She turned her head to Yun and they met eye-to-eye.
"L-Look, (Y/N). F-For a while now I.... w-well, what I'm trying to say is uh-" he was cut of by (Y/N)'s lips meeting his own, and it was his turn to blush. She pulled away, and grinned at Yun.
"You don't need to say anything, I know." She fiddled with her hands and looked at the ground. "I like you too, Yun. A lot. From the moment we met." Yun beamed, overjoyed that his deep feelings were returned. The two of them shared a passionate embrace before they started to head back to the hut.
Night had fallen, and Yun saw that Ik-su was talking with Princess Yona and Hak. He didn't really care what it was about. "Yun! Can I please talk to you for a minute?" Ik-su called out. (Y/N) and Yun saw Ik-su walking in their direction whilst Hak and Yona continued to talk.
"What is it Ik-su?" (Y/N) asked. "Did you need something?"
Ik-su sighed and spoke. "Actually, I just need to talk to Yun for now (Y/N)."
She was slightly taken aback, since she wasn't expecting Ik-su to be so serious. "Oh, o-okay. Sure," (Y/N) said, sounding a little downhearted.
"I won't be long (Y/N), don't worry," Yun reassured her with a smile. With that, (Y/N) went inside the hut and distracted herself while Ik-su and Yun went for a walk to where Ik-su would pray.
(Y/N) waited, and waited, and waited. Moments turned into minutes, and minutes felt like hours. She was getting tired, and so she made beds for the two guests and Yun and Ik-su, along with one for herself. Everyone else was still awake and talking, and (Y/N) suddenly felt a little lonely. She fell into a deep sleep, happy of the events that had happened that magical evening.
Yun returned, feeling enraged and conflicted at the same time. He saw Hak, Yona and (Y/N) all fast asleep, and he looked sadly at (Y/N)'s sleeping figure.
"You want me to go with them!? Why me? You can't be serious!"
"Yun, you shouldn't stay here... Go see the world."
"B-But, what about (Y/N)!? That's not fair on her!"
"She'll stay here with me. I've known you for longer, and I know how much you want to travel. I am telling you to leave this place."
Yun sighed as he recalled the unpleasant argument, but nonetheless he had made his decision. He would leave with Hak and Princess Yona in the morning. "I'm sorry, (Y/N)."
~ ~ ~
(Y/N) had only just woke up, when Yun walked into the hut. "Hey, can I talk to you about something?" he asked shyly. Hak and Yona were sitting in the hut at the time, so (Y/N) gladly left the two lovebirds alone.
They walked until they reached Ik-su, who stood at the waterfall and yet again, held a serious yet saddened expression on his face. (Y/N) grew suspicious of the situation, as Yun appeared to look the same way.
"(Y/N)..." Ik-su began. "Y-yeah? What's going on here?" Ik-su looked to Yun, who made his place firmly next to (Y/N). He looked like he was asking something, or telling him to say something. Yun's face saddened, and he sighed.
"(Y/N)... I'm leaving. With Hak and Princess Yona," he said painfully. (Y/N) didn't seem to get the message though, because she appeared to be excited. "Oh how exciting! When do we leave then? This morning?" she beamed.
"...That's the thing; I'm leaving this morning, not you. You're staying here... with Ik-su." Finally, it hit (Y/N) like a tsunami that she was being left behind. And it was by her very own friend, the person she loved most.
"I...I see," she said, refusing to believe what she was hearing. "Ik-su has told me to look after the two of them, and to see the world. I'm sorry (Y/N)-"
"B-But I want to come too! Why can't I stay with you?" she pleaded.
"You must stay here and look after Ik-su. Both of us know that he won't live on his own, so you have to look after him for me. Can you do that?" Yun gripped her shoulders, waiting to hear the response he wanted to. Small tears escaped her eyes, despite how hard she was trying to keep it in.
"O-okay... I can do that." She couldn't help but bawl. She was always afraid that one day this would happen. Soon, Ik-su started crying along with her. It was a sad parting. It didn't take too long before Yun started crying himself.
"You're both such a pain. This isn't the last time we'll see each other," he said, trying to sound confident. He pulled both of them into a tight embrace, where they cried with each other.
"This better not be the last time, or I'll never forgive you," (Y/N) spoke in all seriousness.
~ ~ ~
Not much later, Hak, Princess Yona and Yun all started their journeys. They were getting further and further away whilst Ik-su and (Y/N) waved them off, (Y/N) was still crying a little bit. Yun continued to look back at her, mouthing "I love you," and she would do the same.
"It's okay to be sad (Y/N), and I know he is gone. But he is still here with us, if you remember him with all your heart," Ik-su tried comforting. (Y/N) however, completely ignored him.
"In a way... he's kind of like God; it's like he doesn't exist."
Seven Hours
YONA OF THE DAWN | AKATSUKI NO YONA
Bullied!Yun x Kuudere!Reader - School!AU
My Yona of the Dawn x Reader List for more one-shots– Check it out!
Request Box
Nerd.
Teacher's pet.
Yun-ie the looney.
They were very creative, and they knew that I didn't like it. But as if that was going to be enough to stop them.
On and on, day in and day out. From the first class of the month to the last. Five days of seven lonely hours for every day of the school term. But to me, seven hours was the equivalence to seven weeks of hell.
The First Hour...
A normal start to any student's school day, walking to my locker to retrieve my books for my next class in biology. Intently listening to the professor's explanation on human anatomy, all the while the annoying kicking of my chair and desk from my peers all around me continued. I gave no reaction, because I knew that was all they were after from me.
All the classes are like that for the five days I attend school each week. Nothing out of the ordinary. I don't spend the break times doing what they were designed for in the first place. Instead, I was the goody-two-shoes kid that talked with all his teachers to learn more than what they were taught. It's what I wanted to do. I couldn't help that my mind was designed with a high IQ.
My break times were also spent by being tossed around as some kind of dog toy. It didn't take long until my expensive textbooks were the ones that got stepped on and poorly treated to the point of needing to be thrown away. It was basically—no, it was throwing money down the drain, and it wasn't even from my own pocket. All the onlookers were affected by the bystander effect; Not doing anything as they believed somebody else will.
"Hey, Yunie Looney. Whaddya got in your hands there?"
"..."
"Naww, are you giving us the silent treatment?"
"Why don't you talk to us? We could help you out with your problems."
"But then technically, we would be telling ourselves to leave him alone."
"L.O.L. No way am I gonna do that."
First it was verbal. But when I wouldn't exchange words with them, the game would change. Stepping on my feet, then kicking the back of my knees so I would be on all fours, then stepping on my hands and kicking my arms whenever I didn't retract from the pain. I took it and closed my eyes as I felt all kinds of eyes staring at me. Some were pity, others were fear, and more were looking for their daily entertainment fix. They were all the ones who were pitiful.
I learned overtime that you shouldn't expect too much—or anything for that matter, from the human race. They don't give because they want to, no one ever truly does. They want payment; something from you first before you get something from them in return.
Staff members walking past always broke up the commotion, and sent the students to the principal as I was sent to get fixed up. Even so, I could hear "teacher's pet" echoing in my endless mind of knowledge... and hurt.
All this crap had gone on for so long that the nurse knew my name off by heart then. She was the only person who I would consider kind-hearted, no matter how many times it looked as though I was an annoyance to her.
I never saw anyone else in the nurse's office, except for one time. She was sitting in a chair as she was in the middle of being treated herself, and it looked like she was being treated in the same area as I needed to. I was seated next to her as the nurse pulled out medical tape for my fingers and cotton patches for my grazed knees. The girl next to me had grazed knees, too.
"I swear some kids need to be taught a lesson. You two are going to use up all of my supplies at this rate!" the nurse spoke as we sat there in silence. "Oh, I forgot the antiseptic. Duh, silly me." She was funny like that, and would often be the only reason I smiled every school day. She stood up and went into another room as she searched through the endless cupboards.
I subtly looked at the girl next to me, not too much for her to be able to notice. Her arms were crossed, but I could see her fingers had been trampled on as well. "They got you too, huh?"
"Yep," was her only reply. I could already tell trying to make conversation with her was useless, judging by the tone of her voice.
"...What's your name?" I tried anyway.
"I don't tell people my name. They'll use it against me to make up some kind of ridiculous nickname like 'Yunie Looney'." She grunted in annoyance, and I took it as my cue to stop talking to her.
"Okay~ I finally found the last bottle," the nurse announced as she came back. "Ladies first, right (Y/N)?" I caught a glimpse of the girl's facial expression as her eyes narrowed into a glare at the nurse, after she spoke her name aloud. She showed little emotion as the liquid was applied to her scrape. I couldn't tell if she was putting on a brave face or if she was genuinely incapable of expressing herself.
Either way... (Y/N) reminded me a lot of myself. The way her face didn't look like a real one, but instead a mask to hide the truth behind it all.
The Second Hour...
By chance I happened to walk past (Y/N) on my way to food technology. She was walking swiftly through the crowds of people in her way, and some said "watch where you're going." Her patched up knee was plain in sight from when we were both in the nurse's office last week. She looked smaller when she was keeping her head low, and it was as if she was trying to. Her face was emotionless, and her eyes looked cold. Not realising I had stopped walking, (Y/N) caught me staring and I hurriedly picked up my pace as I headed to the classroom.
After I took my seat, (Y/N) entered a couple of minutes later and sat in the only empty chair next to me. I had never noticed she was in the same class as me, although I never paid enough attention to who I was learning with. It was a theory class that day, so I was the first one to have my writing book open and pen ready for taking notes. I heard students sigh and groan in annoyance to my promptness. The teacher at the front was waiting for quiet, and she quickly began a presentation on the projector revolving around nutritional value.
The only sound in my ears was the scribbling of pencil on paper at a fast pace. But after thinking I could hear the same noise twice, I looked over and saw that (Y/N) was taking notes just as fast as I was, her page nearly full of neat handwriting within the first five minutes of the presentation. As well as myself, she didn't hesitate to put her hand up and answer complex questions. The groans only increased from our peers as it appeared (Y/N) and I were double teaming, but I was positive we were competing against one other without initiating the contest verbally.
I was distracted for a moment as I silently awed at her intellect, but quickly refocused on the class. As soon as the bell rang, (Y/N) packed up her things faster than I could even say a word, and left the classroom in a swift fashion. I wondered why she was the way she appeared to be, but I didn't judge. I was more inquisitive than judgemental, and wanted to learn more as it was natural for someone like me to think that way.
I didn't get the chance to catch up to (Y/N) as she had disappeared in the sea of students eager to escape their classrooms. I was pushed all over the place as many around me shared with me their oh so creative nicknames that had been overused, as I walked to my locker with a scowl.
Silently hoping today would be different, the students almost took me by surprise as they came up from behind. I didn't know why I was feeling that way, and in all honesty I was more surprised about why I dared to even think that way rather than about the ones who snuck up on me.
Again... my books were ruined.
Again... my hands and knees hurt from the same pain they had been feeling for a lifetime's worth of unfairness.
But for the first time, I could see (Y/N) past the people standing over me, sitting against a stone wall by herself with a book in the shadows, looking directly into my eyes as a teacher came by and sent me and the others in our separate directions. But it wasn't her usual face, it was more like... she looked sorry for me
The Third Hour...
"Why do you just sit there?" I looked to the desk next to me as I heard a soft whisper speaking to me. I was surprised to see that (Y/N) was talking to me at all.
"What?"
"You make yourself look like a coward by letting them do that. Everyone thinks so."
"W-What are you talking about?"
"The bullies! Geez, I thought you actually had a brain for a while there."
"Excuse me!" The teacher shouted loudly once (Y/N) and I had gotten a little too loud, causing us both to jump in our seats. "Do you two already know everything I'm about to teach? Do you have something you would like to share to the class, Yun? (Y/N)?"
"No sir..." we responded in sync. The other students instantly began the quiet chatter amongst themselves, talking about how the Looney and the Emotionless Robot got told off by the teacher for the first time. (Y/N) looked at me before she looked back at the notes on the board, but it wasn't in the same way she used to cold-heartedly stare, just like the other day.
Once the bell rang for break time, I matched my speed with (Y/N) as we both packed up our things. "...You didn't answer my question."
"Huh?"
"What I was saying before, about the bullies."
"Oh, uh... I-I'm not sure." I never called them 'bullies.' I thought of them as just unfortunate students who were low in IQ to feel the need to treat people, to treat me, the way they did.
"Ugh, forget it," she responded harshly as she grabbed the rest of her things and walked out of the door into the oncoming sea of students. Strangely enough, it looked like (Y/N) was starting to give me a little more attention since when we first met. (Y/N) was confusing me.
During my walk to my math teacher's office to talk about the upcoming exams, I couldn't help but think about (Y/N). Her eyes were icy and stared right through me, but usually I would get a 'bad person vibe' if that were the case. I couldn't bring myself to see that in her, because I felt like it was something completely different from being a bad person. In class, people were calling her a "Robot," and I could see why. But she wasn't doing anything about it either, so why was she asking me why I wasn't do anything?
"Just keep walking," I suddenly heard someone say next to me as they grabbed a hold of my arm and dragged me at a faster pace. It was (Y/N).
"What are you doing?" I asked as I struggled to keep my books balanced.
"Just walk and don't look behind you." I simply did as she told me, not bothering to try and resist. Once we stopped walking at a more isolated part of the school, she already started walking off like I wasn't even there.
"H-Hey! What was that about?" She stopped walking and turned to face me, looking mad.
"Can't you even see where you're going?" I looked at her confused, and she sighed. "You were going to walk right into those same guys that bully you all the time. No wonder you get picked on so easily."
I hadn't even noticed, but wasn't so surprised as I knew I should be paying more attention to my surroundings.
"You pulled me away from them?"
"D-Don't think it's because we're friends. It just really annoys me when people are so careless... And it's annoying to see you look like you're being all brave and stuff like a hero." She turned around and started walking once more. "Just stay out of their way for once, geez..."
The Fourth Hour...
After that, I unintentionally began to notice more things around the school yard, like how many people stared at me as I simply walked past them. It couldn't be that they were looking at my grazes and taped-up fingers, because I hadn't needed to be sent to the nurse's office for a week by that point.
I also started to notice where (Y/N) would be during the break times. It was always the same; sitting against the same wall against a classroom block, in the shade away from any other person, reading or doing some other thing by herself. She looked so isolated, like she was in her own prison that no one else could see.
After a couple of days, I mustered up the courage to be the one to approach her, instead of her bluntly coming to me first. I wanted to try and be the bigger person out of the both of us, and at the same time try to work her and her personality out. I'd never come across someone like her before, and if I ever did I didn't have a single memory of them.
"...What are you doing all the way over here?" I asked her. She didn't notice me and therefore sharply turned to look at me from her place on the ground. I didn't think she would be so surprised to see a human standing before her.
"I-It's none of your business," she spat back.
There was a silence between us before I spoke again. "Why did you help me the other day?"
"Why are you talking to me?"
"Do you talk like that to everyone?"
"Leave me alone." You could hardly call it a conversation, but more like a game going back and forth. That was until they came along.
"Hey, look at this! It's Yunie Looney and the Robot!"
"Their ship name should be 'Looney-Bot'."
(Y/N) sighed heavily as she shut her book firmly. "Great, look at what you did." She stood up from the concrete and brushed down her uniform. "I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with these guys again. But now you've ruined my day." (Y/N) started casually walking away like the situation at hand meant nothing to her, but one of the bullies stopped her.
"Ah ah ah, where do you think you're going? I thought we were going to hang around," one of them playfully said.
"I have better things to do." (Y/N) tried walking around, but instead another student snatched the book from her hand and threw it far away, causing students to look to where the flying book came from.
"H-Hey, that was hers!" I shouted at them.
"I know... that's why I threw it."
"I'll buy a new one, it's just a book."
"But it looked expensive-"
"I said it's fine," she angrily responded to me. She sighed again, looking totally disinterested. "Just go away already. It looks like they want me this time." I couldn't help but stare at her, like bullies approaching us couldn't mean less than a spec of dirt to her. I was used to this too, but she handled it differently.
"Why? And just leave you here?"
"Yes."
"...No." (Y/N) growled in annoyance.
"Why can't you just listen to me for once?" The students in front of us laughed... before they did their 'thing' to (Y/N) first before me. I looked to her as they were kicking us in our arms and stepping on our hands, and her eyes were closed. No other part of her face was tensed up, and it almost looked like she was trying to go to sleep. I kind of envied her and the strong mask she wore.
The Fifth Hour...
"You're really dumb. You know that, right?"
"W-What?" (Y/N) and I were back in the same place from when we first met; the nurse's office. Her knees and hands needed more treatment than I did, and I could only assume it was because she was talking back to the bullies so casually. I could tell she felt the pain this time, because her face scrunched up as the antibacterial was applied. For some reason when that happened, I felt so much guilt.
When the nurse tried to outstretch (Y/N)'s hand to wrap the medical tape around her fingers, she retracted sharply. "T-That hurts!"
"Oh, does it hurt that bad?" the nurse questioned, a little surprised. "Those nasty kids might have done more than just jar your fingers this time. I'll get a bandage and some ice." With that, the nurse returned to her other room full of supplies.
All I saw on the outside was a girl who didn't care about anyone and was incapable of feeling anything. But after seeing her that way, for some reason seeing her physically in pain, I felt horrible as neither of us said a word in the silent room.
"I'm sorry--"
"Why did you do that?"
I couldn't bring myself to look into her eyes, so I continued to look to the ground beneath my feet. "Do what? Cause you pain because I didn't listen?"
"Yep."
"I don't know." I truly didn't. I used to keep on thinking to myself how a girl like (Y/N) made no sense to me at all, but after she asked me that question I couldn't figure myself out. Her confusing nature was rubbing onto me.
"That's stupid."
"I'm the stupid one."
"I know. That's what I meant." Silence again, but it wasn't for long until she spoke. "...Sorry."
"What?"
"I said 'I'm sorry'! Don't make me say it again." Her knees turned in and she held her injured hand to her chest as she hung her head low. Yet again did she manage to leave my mind in a muddle.
"Why are you apologising?"
"Do you really need me to tell you? You should know."
"I honestly don't though..."
"Wow, you really don't have a brain... I guess." The nurse came back with a fresh bandage, and was about to start wrapping her hand, when I suddenly lost control over my words.
"Uhh, c-can I do it?" The nurse and (Y/N) stared at me strangely, and my face turned red after hearing how ridiculous I just sounded. "I-I mean, i-it's my fault that she got hurt more than me and, well... I-I..."
"Do what you want. I don't care," (Y/N) cut me off as she turned her head in the other direction, holding out her hand to be bandaged by either the nurse or myself. The nurse reluctantly gave me the bandage, and left the room once more. I was nervous that I would hurt her more, so I did it as carefully as I could.
"Does it hurt...?"
"... A little. Yeah..."
The Sixth Hour...
Her hand remained bandaged for more days than I thought, and unfortunately for her it was her writing hand that she couldn't use. Because of this, I helped her a lot with her school work, despite how much she resisted and said she hated me for helping her.
"Why are you following me to my locker?"
"Do you want me to keep your books for myself?"
"Just... hurry up already." I grew used to her attitude towards me. In fact, I thought that it was steadily improving the more we took the time to get to know each other. Well... it was more me making an effort to get to know her. She intrigued me.
"So umm, don't take this the wrong way, but..." We sat together against the same wall she usually sat at by herself, and hid ourselves away from the rest of the student body. "...Why do you hide from everyone?"
"I'm not 'hiding' from anyone."
"Alright, alright. There was a reason I said 'don't take it the wrong way.' I mean... You look like you avoid everyone who sets foot in the school ground. Why?"
She sighed as she usually does before she responds back to me. "Remember the other day when you walked over to me and made such a fuss the bullies found us?"
"Y-Yeah..."
"I 'hide' to avoid drama. All the girls talk about are their other friends behind their backs, and boys talk about making out with as many girls as they can. I got sick of being in all of that. Didn't do me any good."
"So why do they beat you up then?"
"Gee, why do you have so many questions? Aren't you meant to be the smartest kid who never has fun?"
"I could say the same insult about you, you know. You should watch your tongue."
We would freely talk away, mostly consisting of insults though. From that point on when class time would come around, we whispered or wrote notes depending on how good the teacher could hear us. It didn't occur to me that (Y/N) might be the first person I would hang around by choice. Overtime, (Y/N) began to challenge me in a contest to see who could answer the most questions during theory classes, and that the loser had to buy lunch for the victor. We were getting closer.
After class, (Y/N) told me she had to see her English teacher to receive missed homework on a day she was absent. I felt different walking to my locker by myself, let alone being by myself at all. I had gotten so used to (Y/N) being around me that it felt natural and, as cliché as it was, it felt like it had always been that way.
"Yo~ If it isn't Looney Yun!" Trouble.
I kept on walking, paying no attention to the ones who started calling out to me from across the yard. More students continued to set their gaze on me, as if to tell me that I should turn around when I am being spoken to. But I refused. I'd learnt a lot in the past six weeks.
"Hey, Smart Ass. We're talking to you."
I opened my locker and put my books away, and I could feel their presence looming over me from behind. I ignored them, already completely aware of what the consequences were to be. I closed my locker and began to walk away, the memory of (Y/N) showing the same courage a week earlier replaying to me.
"Hey! We're talking to you!" I suddenly felt hands grabbing onto my shoulders and viciously turning me around, pushing my back against the locker bay with the metal frames digging into me. "You think you're real smart, huh? Do you?"
"Can you please leave me alone? I'm really not in the mood today." The same guy pushing me against the lockers moved his hands to my shirt collar, his strength slightly lifting my weight off the ground. I could feel the tightness around my throat, and it must've looked bad judging by the way people were quickly evacuating the bay.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" The all too familiar voice with the all too familiar attitude came storming in. She got in between me and the one with a tight grip on me, releasing me from his hold and causing me to have a coughing fit. "How did I know you were here..."
"Th-Thanks... I guess."
"Aww, did the Robot come to save her teacher's pet? I want to be sick." As I was rubbing my sore neck, I never saw such a fury burn in (Y/N)'s eyes. I only ever saw her eyes as unkind, and icy to anyone who gave her any sort of attention. I would've been scared myself if I didn't know she was on my side, because she was...
"Don't call me that. Don't call him that."
"Ooh, I'm so scared. What are you going to do? Does it hurt if I touch your hand?" As one of their hands reached out to grab her bandaged hand, the one that they were responsible for hurting, my instincts kicked in and I hit it away. "Y-You little punk...!"
One of them launched themselves at me, but (Y/N) pushed them away, and then a full-scale schoolyard fight was in play. We were all shoving each other into walls, grabbing shirts violently, and even tackling onto the grass outside. Bystanders gathered around and encouraged the fight to go further with their chanting.
"You're just a teacher's pet, thinking you're so much better than the rest of us!" At those words, (Y/N) literally launched herself on top of the student and tackled her off of me as they had their own cat fight. This had gotten dangerous, and I knew that we would all need more than patches for grazed knees and medical tape for jarred fingers.
The Seventh Hour...
(Y/N) was suspended for a week, whilst the students who started the fight in the first place were suspended for two. I was lucky enough to get away with only a detention. That, plus a bruised up cheek. (Y/N) and I looked like warriors returning from a great war after the fight was broken up by multiple teachers pulling us away. We looked at each other in that moment, and I smiled and nodded saying 'Thanks'. For the first time, she smiled back too.
After she finally returned back to school, she told me that the principal was trying to make her write apology letters to the kids who had to go to the doctors. She said she refused, telling the principal herself that she couldn't care less what happened to them after they "trash-talked her friend." I didn't know what to call us at that point, but I felt a satisfaction knowing that we could be honest, in a nice way, and call each other friends.
"Well either way, it's good to have you back, (Y/N)."
"Yeah yeah, I know."
"How's your hand? And... the rest of you...?" I asked awkwardly, considering that her pre-injured hand was one of a few other injuries she had gotten from the tackle.
"I'm fine. You should be more concerned about your face, you know."
"Oh, the bruise? It's nothing, I just got a little careless when one of them snuck up on me."
"I meant that you should be worried about how ugly you look. That face is never gonna get you any girls." We talked, and talked, and talked. I didn't know how much I had been waiting to be able to speak like this to (Y/N) again, considering she was the only one I spoke to. I didn't know how important she was to me.
"I disagree. I think this face is one of the prettiest faces around. I'm even mistaken as a girl sometimes."
"That's not a good thing."
"It means I'm beautiful."
"Are you gay?"
"No way. I hate pubescent boys."
"Well I was going to say it'd be a shame if you were."
"A shame? ...Why?"
(Y/N) stopped walking and her eyes were wide. I could only imagine she didn't properly hear what came out of her mouth. I saw her face start to blush. Subtly, but not completely unnoticed by me.
"N-Nothing, n-no reason at all! I-I mean why would it be a shame it's not like I like you or anything or at least like like you or whatever so don't you dare start going and getting the wrong idea thinking that you're some guy that all girls are into nowadays because you're not and I want nothing to do with you well not nothing but I mean nothing like that if you know what I mean..."
"(Y/N)--"
"Shut up and buy me lunch."
"... Thanks."
"For making you poor? Anytime."
"No, for... for saving me."
From the first lonely hour to the seventh, I was protected all along, even though I didn't see it. She was there, and turned my seven hours of hell into ones of bliss. She was worth my seven hours, and I wanted her to be by my side for the rest of my seven hours to come.
The ice-cream dripped down the sides of her cone as she eagerly took the cold desert from the ice-cream man's hands. "Thank you!" she said cheerfully. Skipping back to her friends, they continued to walk down the street of the town. Though there were many cars and people walking by, it still seemed quiet.
"It feels really eerie today..." Yun pointed out. "We should just go back to the library now. It's too hot anyways."
"He is right. We need to keep studying for exams if we want to pass-"
"You're such a goody-two-shoes, White Snake."
"If you didn't call me 'White Snake' I might have taken that as a compliment."
"That would've been horrible."
"Will both of you cut it out? You're ruining my good mood," (Y/N) said as she stood in between the two 'friends.' "Why do you have to bicker so much?"
"Isn't it obvious, dearie? They both clearly have a crush on our dear Yona of the group," the flamboyant Jeaha spoke, sounding as though he was the most mature out of everyone there. But quite the contrary; the others believed him to be the most juvenile out of all of them.
The crimson-haired girl started blushing profusely at Jeaha's remark, and Hak shortly after started bursting into laughter. "You look ridiculous when you're trying to hide your face like that, Princess."
"W-Why do you call me that all the time? It's so annoying...!"
"Because you're small and helpless just like every other princess in fairy tales."
"Princesses are pretty, too~!"
The bickering further continued, not ceasing until Yun made it clear that he had had enough by giving everyone an earful. And after Kija's relentless complaining about their lack of productivity, which is what the hang out was originally designed to be for, they headed back to the town's main library and looked over their subjects.
"(Y/N) ... What are you studying?" the quiet one of the group, Shinah, asked shyly.
"Oh, I've got a History exam coming up. Geography, too."
"Well well, it just so happens that I have those exams too, (Y/N)-dearie. Should we study for them together elsewhere?"
"You're such a perv! But... that might be better actually," (Y/N) admitted. "Okay then, why don't we go look for some books and meet up with the others later?"
"Lead the way, my dear," he said as he bowed down like a gentleman. On that note, the two friends left the rest of the group to go and study on their own.
"Is it just me... or do Jeaha and (Y/N) look like they've been pretty close lately?" Yun pointed out.
"Droopy Eyes always wants to spend time with (Y/N) and Yona," Hak brusquely replied, choosing not to care about the brought-up topic.
"Zeno wants to spend more time with the girls, too..."
"But you hang out with us all the time, Zeno!" Yona quickly replied before he could feel any more down than he had suddenly become.
"That's true, you're like a brother to us, and we'll always be with you-"
"Okay, that's enough philosophical talk for one day." As they continued to talk about why Jeaha almost seemed desperate to be with (Y/N), not only Hak, but Shinah also stayed very silent. His expression came across as one of disinterest, but it truly meant the feeling of dejection.
(Y/N) and Shinah weren't super close, but she seemed to be closer with everyone else in the group. The blue-haired boy wanted to change that, but he was so shy and quiet by nature that every time he tried, it wouldn't get very far or meaningful. He couldn't pinpoint it exactly, but it was like his gut didn't like the idea of (Y/N) being so friendly to everyone else.
"Shinah, aren't you going to study? You haven't even opened up your books yet," Yona pointed out.
"Ah... right," he timidly replied, embarrassed about how he must've looked just now.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Zeno needs to study more, because I couldn't sit still long enough," he pouted with a childish face. "I'm going to go home now. Zeno will see you later!" He smiled and waved as he jogged in one of the splitting directions at the intersection they all stood at.
"Yeah, I'll head off, too. Say hi to the old man for me, Princess," Hak said as he too, departed in another direction. One by one, each of the friends began to part ways for the evening, bidding their 'see you laters' until they were to meet up again in the near future.
The sun drowned in the horizon, its rays of light glimmering in the darkness of the faded clouds and the pale moon shining from the stars. The only ones left standing at the footpath of the intersection were Shinah and (Y/N).
"Did you study a lot.... with Jeaha?" Shinah started.
"Yeah, kinda... He wasn't paying a lot of attention to what I was telling him, and he just kept on telling me how cute I looked when I was focused. I swear, he's such a creep sometimes." A stillness followed after (Y/N)'s words, like they were both thinking about what she just said. "You don't think... he has a crush on me, do you?" she asked in a quieter voice, as if she were to be asking the question to herself.
Shinah stiffened at her question, not sure if she was looking for an answer or just thinking aloud. But those words, they felt like they had morphed into some sort of unseen force and tore his heart in two. All the possible scenes played in his mind; the two holding hands, going out to cafes and having the time of their lives together. His broken heart yearned for such pleasure, but this was the reason it was broken in the first place.
"Because if he did have a crush on me, that would be a little annoying to try and deal with."
"N-No, I... he doesn't," he unknowingly blurted out quickly.
"Well that's good. I hope that's not the case..." she trailed off as she heaved a sigh, admiring the night's beauty she was so envious of. She only wished she could have that kind of beauty for herself. "I guess I should get going too, then." She began walking off in the same direction as Zeno did before.
Before completely vanishing in the dark of night, she turned around, her hair dancing like waves during the low tide in slow motion. The star-struck Shinah felt his worries dissipate in the atmosphere as her smile shone brighter than the full moon in the galaxy above. "I'll see you later!" she waved back as she finally disappeared.
Silence. Nothing but the sounds of swaying leaves on the evergreen trees close by. His breath was taken away by one simple action, the gesture of friendliness by the person he wished to be closest with. With the night sounds resonating like an orchestra in his mind, he gathered his thoughts and headed home alone.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Shinah early next morning heard his phone buzzing like crazy, and so he sluggishly picked it up from his bedside table to check the notifications. He saw that the group chat with all his friends, 'The Dark Dragon and the Happy Hungry Bunch', was active and so he watched the messages flash up on the screen.
Zeno: Zeno wants to hang out again today!! :3
Hak: But we were together all day yesterday. Aren't we all tired of each other?
Yona: No! I love being with all of you all the time! ^_^
(Y/N): Well... I doooo need to study some more today. I'm falling behind ^^;
Kija: I told you this would happen! If only you had all listened to me in the first place!
Yun: No one listens to you on purpose
(Y/N): I'm gonna got to the library again today. Anyone wanna join me?
Kija: I'll join you, (Y/N)
Zeno: Yaay, Zeno too!!
Hak: Can't. Spending the day with Princess and her family.
Jeaha: Oh my, meeting the parents now, are we? ;)
Hak: Shut up, Droopy Eyes
Yun: I'm busy too. Soz (Y/N)
(Y/N): That's fine. Kija and Zeno, meet at the library at 12:30?
Zeno: Yup! Zeno will be there :D
Kija: I will see you then, (Y/N).
That same feeling from yesterday returned. (Y/N) was going to be with not only one of the other guys, but two this time. His fingers rested over the top of his phone's keyboard, wanting to type something like "I want to come, too." But he couldn't bring himself to do it. It was like his gut was holding him back from speaking up his feelings.
(Y/N): Great! It's a date then! :P
He sighed to himself and silenced his phone. He had never felt this way before, and so he had no reason to feel this way now. But it was as if a wind of change suddenly blew over him. He felt something scurrying up his back as he stood up, and little Ao plonked himself on his shoulder. Scratching his chin and giving him an acorn from a jar he kept beside his bed, Shinah began to talk to himself.
"I want... to be with her, too..." he said softly. The small creature looked up at him with beady eyes as he stuffed the acorn in his tiny little cheeks, tilting his head. Shinah gently put him down on his bed as he got ready for the day, deciding that he needed to clear his head of these unknown thoughts and feelings.
By chance, Shinah found himself walking past the library they were all at yesterday, and by chance he saw his three friends walking inside. Like his feet had their own goal he walked through the entrance, careful to keep his distance so he was not to be noticed. He saw all three find a place in a corner where there were several free tables for study, and began watching them from behind books on a bookshelf in front of him.
"I did History and Geography yesterday. So why don't we do maths?" Shinah heard (Y/N) ask.
"Alright. I need to work on my maths too, actually."
"Zeno's really good at maths!"
"Really? Do you think you could maybe help me then?" she timidly asked the playful yellow-head. Seeming very eager to give her a hand, (Y/N) showed him her textbook and one by one, he went through the questions step by step. At one moment, they accidentally touched hands and laughed at each other's awkwardness, despite already being best friends.
Shinah didn't like it. He wished that that could've been him helping (Y/N) study, just the two of them with no one else around to be disrupted by. Kija was in his own world focusing hard on what he had to do, but meanwhile Zeno and (Y/N) continued to muck around and have fun.
Unknowingly, he wished they weren't there in the first place.
And suddenly, he felt like he had completely transformed into something alien. A monster. He never thought to wish anyone away before; all he wanted in life was friends. And yet after he realised what he had begun to think to himself, he was shocked and at a loss for what he was meant to do then and there.
Concluding that this was indeed a bad idea, for his own sake, he left the library as silently as he could. He was good at that; being unnoticed. He thought that all changed when Yona invited him to be a part of their group, but now it felt as though nothing had changed in the first place. But before taking the next step to lead him outside, he stopped and clenched his fists... before running out as fast as he could.
"So I have to expand the brackets, and then that becomes..."
"9x – 6 + 8 = 4x + 3"
"Right. And then I collect the like terms?"
"Uh huh! So that becomes-"
Suddenly a loud noise came from directly in front of the threesome, and saw Shinah plonking down stacks of books on the table in front of them. "Sh-Shinah! What're you doing here?" (Y/N) asked, surprised yet glad that another one of her friends had come to join her in her study session.
"Just... passing through." He sat himself down in the chair directly in front of (Y/N), and started reading through his own math textbook.
"Oh! You're studying algebra too?" Kija and Zeno continued to stare at Shinah, instantly picking up on his unusual behaviour only moments after he made his noisy entrance; quite the contrary to his quiet personality. Shinah himself, wasn't currently studying algebra in his maths class; (Y/N) and the others were all in different classes from him. But he didn't want her to have help from any of the others. He wanted to be the one sitting next to her right then and there, right where Zeno was sitting.
So he took it upon himself to learn what she was learning, too.
"Yeah..."
"Well then maybe we can help each other?"
"Sure..."
The atmosphere was tense with every response the blue-haired gave to every question. It wasn't until Kija and Zeno started helping each other, as well as (Y/N), that the air was easier to breath in. Shinah remained quiet, yet straining his ears to listen for the perfect moment.
"Hmm- what about this question-"
"What's the equation?" he very suddenly jumped in. Not expecting it, the three looked at him in a strange way.
"Uhh, it's (x2 - 16)(x - 3)2 + 9x2 = 0."
"Here... let me try." He reached out his hand to take her book, and started using his pencil to write down a step-by-step guide to solving the equation. In a mere ten seconds later, he handed the book back to her and studied her face carefully. She read through it with eyes of surprise, and checked the answer in the back of her book.
"Wow... you're right..! How did you do that so quickly!?"
"It's nothing..." he brushed off quickly, playing it cool. "I just wanted... to help."
"I had no idea you were so good at maths, too! Why is everyone so good at maths..." she pouted, being half serious at the same time.
"Zeno thinks you're good!"
"Don't worry, (Y/N). We'll just help you," Kija reassured like the too purely-hearted person he was.
"I want to help..." Shinah said quietly. "Me... only..." he said even quieter, but not quiet enough.
"Z-Zeno, I just remembered that, uhh, we need to-"
"There's a bug on your textbook, Kija~!" Instantly Kija vanished from the scene and Zeno was chasing after him, leaving the remaining two alone.
"That was... random..." She could hear the blood in her ears. He could look at his veins silently pumping blood. She could close her eyes and go into a dream. It was too silent for anyone's liking. "Shinah, you're acting a little bit... weird," (Y/N) finally cut the silence free.
He only remained silent, thinking about what his actions had lead him to do up to that point, what they had lead him to think about his own friends.
"Is something the matter...? You can always tell me, you know."
"No... I just..." he fearfully began, anxious about what she'd say. He stayed quiet, sinking down into his seat ever so slightly and his head low, covering his eyes.
"You're not... jealous, are you? You started acting differently since I brought up Jeaha yesterday."
It hit him, the word to his feelings he couldn't understand. He was relieved of a weight he felt on his heart from not knowing the unknown, but he was just as ashamed of himself and what his mind had begun etching into him.
"Come on, let's go somewhere else. We'll meet up with Kija and Zeno later..."
"Okay..."
Walking through the green painted, iron-wrought gates there was a concrete pathway stretching out in front of the two students like a grey ribbon winding through the green shrubbery. The beauty of the midday sun shone so brightly and scattered its warmth to those who urged to feel its comfort, and Shinah and (Y/N) stood underneath a strong-standing oak tree.
"Is everything alright, Shinah? Why are you acting like this?" (Y/N) started, wanting to know why her friend was far from himself.
"...I don't know. It just... happened."
"When?"
"Yesterday... when you were with Jeaha..."
"That soon?"
"I'm not sure why..."
"I think I know, Shinah..." He looked at her with searching eyes with such a deepness, it caught (Y/N) off guard slightly. "Do you think that maybe... you have feelings?"
"Feelings...?"
"For me..."
He wouldn't have known; he couldn't have known. The feeling was so unfamiliar, and it was alien to someone like him. Up until these people came into his life, his heart was void of emotion and meaning. He was lacking the sensation of how it felt to be this way towards another person. In that very moment, he wished he were Ao. He could've easily sat on (Y/N)'s shoulder, be given all the attention he wanted and get away with it all.
But what was there to get away with? His thoughts he had towards the people that accepted him for who he was? So much confusion clouded his mind in a thick fog, he couldn't see what was right in front of him nor see what he thought was true.
"I'm sorry," she said. "I haven't spent a lot of time with you, and I'm sure you feel as though we've been brushing you aside..."
"No... it's not that-"
"That's not what friends do. We should be including you in everything we do, and be making sure you feel part of this group. Because you're one of us now, you belong with us."
Shinah had no idea where this was coming from, and was expecting nothing more than questions about his unusual behaviour. "It's not your fault, though..." he tried to reassure.
"But it's not yours either." (Y/N) breathed heavily, as if to keep her emotions in check. She grabbed her hair with both of her hands and yanked on it a little. "But Shinah... you should've told me you wanted to spend more time with us. It's not fair that you feel like this."
It wasn't hard to tell that she was feeling hurt, but more for him than by. He tried telling her that it had nothing to do with her, but he was so quiet spoken that this had become a misunderstanding. Not sure how else he was to show his sincerity, he took baby steps towards her, and lightly hugged (Y/N) around her neck.
"I wanted to spend more time.... With you."
"M-Me? Just me? Why?"
"Because... I... You're a good person." She took a deep breath, relaxed, and slowly put her arms around his body as well. "And... I like you."
"You... like me?" Shinah felt his face get hotter, and he buried it deeper into her shoulder so she wouldn't see. (Y/N) felt it, and let out a barely audible giggle. She lifted her arms so they wrapped around his back, and she snuck in a small peck on his cheek. Feeling herself blush, she too buried her face in his chest.
Both a red hot blushing mess, they stood still for as long as they felt they need to. (Y/N) pulled away first, feeling like she couldn't make eye contact. "I-It's okay to feel jealous, Shinah. But next time, don't keep it to yourself."
O-Okay..." he said with a muffled voice in her shoulder. "Thank you... for liking me, too..."
"I've always liked you, you know..." Shinah pulled away with eyes larger, and sparks of joy enlightened his mystical stare. "But, I think I... like like you..."
"Me... too..." Butterflies' wings flapped to the beats of their hearts. They felt strong and easy to feel, like the cold touch of fragile glass in winter. Looking at his eyes, the ones she fell for so easily, (Y/N) was instantly reminded of the previous night where they both stood at the intersection alone. She specifically recalled that the night sky was much more beautiful than usual, as well as wishing that its everlasting beauty could be hers.
And now, it was.
"Yotaka, I found your skin beauty medication!"
His head turned into (Y/N)'s direction a little way away, his lion mane of hair bouncing in the wind. It was very pretty hair. Everyone envied the mighty Five Star Yotaka's beauty.
He walked over, instantly picking up the little bottle of lotion, examining its contents to see if it very well is his medication.
"Do you think it could work on me, too?"
"What do you mean? You haven't need of it."
His face seemed so unfazed by his own giving of a compliment, (Y/N) could easily have missed it if she didn't do a double take.
"Th-thank you..." she blushed. "But I still want to try some."
"If you insist, but you really don't need it."
"We girls never accept our faces for what they are, and we will always try to make it prettier."
She wasn't expecting Yotaka to actually buy some of the highly-praised solution for her own personal use, and so when he handed it to her she promised herself she would try to make it last for as long as possible. She was very thankful.
"Didn't you buy yourself some?"
"No, I bought you one, instead."
"Did you waste your money on me!?"
"It isn't wasteful if it has been put to good use. Consider it a gift. The holiday season is approaching quickly, is it not?"
He was a man who never smiled; always that same stoic, expressionless, far-out look in his eyes. He always appeared to be in a daze. (Y/N) knew that his mind was constantly focused on the Princess of the Xing Kingdom, Kouren-- His commanding mistress and leader of the Five Stars. Definitely something (Y/N) wanted less of in their friendship, if you could call it that.
"Yoo-hoo, Yotaka!" His partners, Mizari and Neguro, jogged to where he and (Y/N) were strolling. "Princess Kouren wishes to see us!"
"Right now? I would have thought she was preoccupied in preparing for the war."
"She is. She requires our assistance in an errand she wants done," Neguro replied. His eyes narrowed when they met (Y/N), an outsider of the Five Stars. "You both should not be dallying about with war so close to our borders."
"Nice to see you too, Neguro." (Y/N) rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, giving up hoping to ever receive a friendly greeting from the burly man. "What's the errand?"
"It's to do with Kouka's monsters. We haven't yet been given word what we are to do, so we must make haste to Princess Kouren."
As joy-killing as ever, (Y/N) thought as Neguro turned his back and walked the opposite direction, Mizari, Yotaka and herself following suit.
A small tent had been pitched some distance away from the kingdom's populace. Inside was Princess Kouren pacing back and forth, whilst a member of the anti-war faction argued with her on Priest Gobi's behalf.
"Princess Kouren," Neguro announced his and his team's presence, interrupting the senseless debating.
"Thank you, Neguro." The princess smiled when she saw (Y/N) had tagged along. Though she wasn't an appointed 'star' of her majesty, she was strong and equally as loyal as the princess's own warriors. They might as well be called 'The Five Stars Plus One.'
The stranger was quickly forced to leave so the 'meeting' was able to commence in complete privacy.
"Yotaka, (Y/N), the monsters of Kouka kingdom are in my possession for now."
"You mean the dragons that arrived yesterday?"
"I'm sure they were sent on King Su-won's orders to invade our kingdom. I will not let them wreck havoc to my people. They are a threat and need to be dealt with accordingly."
"What would you have us do, Princess Kouren?" Yotaka knelt on bended knee, his hand on his heart. Why can't he be like that to me, (Y/N)'s mind echoed. She kept her focus on the princess as best as possible while Yotaka was in front of her.
"(Y/N), I would like you to guard them, please. They may hold information detrimental to our kingdom's future. Do not let anyone get through you."
"B-But what about me, your ladyship?" Mizari began to fret. "I want to be the one who watches them! I want to see their power again, especially the undying one. I want to see it again!" His face was becoming deranged, and (Y/N) became uncomfortable very quickly. She'd never seen him react like this to anything before.
"You'd most likely pull a foolish stunt like you did earlier. You need to be kept away from them," Yotaka sharply replied to his begging of the princess. "Not to mention how rude it is to question her highness' decision. Have you no respect for your master?
It was enough to shut up the childish warrior for the time being, his eyes keeping the dangerous craving of the dragons' powers to have all to himself. (Y/N) would have to watch that he doesn't approach too close.
"Thank you, Yotaka." The princess cleared her throat. "Mizari, I'm having you and Yotaka investigate Priest Gobi and the anti-war faction. Something tells me they're up to no good."
"Forgive me for asking, but will (Y/N) be alright on her own? These dragons hold power unlike any enemy we have encountered before," Yotaka asked hesitantly, Mizari quick to call him out on being a hypocrite.
"I'm sure I'll be fine, Yotaka. I'm tough! I can handle anything," (Y/N) puffed out her chest.
"There you have it. Neguro, you will keep watch around the local areas. That is all, everyone."
"Of course, Princess Kouren."
The three left the tent, leaving (Y/N), Yotaka sharing a last glance with her before they parted ways for, most likely, the rest of the day. She felt lonely very quickly, and she wanted him to be with her, especially for something as pressuring as this.
"Is there something wrong, (Y/N)?" Kouren asked.
"N-No, your majesty. I'll make my way to the dragons' cell now."
Thankfully a couple of guards under Kouren's name had been appointed with (Y/N). While part of her was glad she didn't have to take on this job alone, these guards weren't exactly as competent as the Five Stars of Xing. Physically, they didn't look like they'd be able to hold their ground for very long.
Finally reaching the cells where the strangers were being kept, two of the five prisoners were badly injured and bleeding heavily. Another had a bandage covering his eyes, whilst the fourth with bright yellow hair seemed completely fine. There seemed to be a fifth that had joined them; a much less intimidating boy (Y/N) could hear from a mile away with yelling and desperate cries
"Please, just give me my bag! My friends will die if I don't treat them!"
The boy's eyes eventually locked onto (Y/N), who was approaching closer and closer. For just a moment, she felt her heart being pulled to where the said bag was in possession of another guard. But she shook away the temptation and stood her ground, just as her princess had entrusted her to do.
"Hey, you! Can't you see they're dying!?" He shouted at (Y/N).
"I'm sorry. I don't help my enemies."
The androgynous boy eventually gave up, and went back to putting pressure on the bleeding wounds of his friends.
"Why did you come to Xing? To start a war for King Su-won?"
"How dare you..." the white-haired one grimaced. "We are no servants of that... monster!"
"As much as I would like to believe you, you are my enemies, and I choose not to."
"My my, what a stubborn little lady we have," the tall one with green hair spoke with a somewhat patronising tone.
(Y/N) turned her back to them, standing off to the side, keeping a close eye if anyone was approaching the restricted area too close. They chatted quietly amongst themselves, mostly consisting of the boy, Yun, fretting over the wellbeing of his friends. He might as well be their mother, (Y/N) joked to herself.
I hope Yotaka is alright...
Her mind began to drift as she spaced out with quick-coming boredom, and with it the uneasiness she was fighting back began to settle in much easier. Mizari was clearly unstable mentally, and keeping him away from the dragons may very well drive him furthermore to do something 'foolish.' The anti-war faction often did some shady business behind the princesses' backs, and could be a threat to her highness or the Five Stars that oppose them. Anything could happen when they're all split up like this.
A disturbing cry of pain made (Y/N) jump in surprise, her shock further escalating when she saw one of the guards crumpled on the ground in blood. The other drew his weapon, but was taking steps back to distance himself from the murderer in front of him.
"No one can keep me from my dragons..."
Mizari's head was crooked to the side, his eyes wide and smile looking abnormal. His sword dripped crimson droplets onto the ground as he prepared for the next kill. The remaining guard was trembling and turned to run, but was put an end to before he could take three steps.
"Sorry, (Y/N). I can't have anyone in my way."
(Y/N) drew her sword, holding it far in front of her in attempt to keep Mizari at bay. She should have known that he was not going to stay away from the dragons for very long, even if he was ordered to.
But... what about Yotaka?
Was he hurt? Did Mizari cut him down, too? If he's truly still alive then where was he?
"(Y/N), out of my way, please."
"I can't do that, Mizari. What's gotten into you!? This isn't like you at all!"
The prisoners watched intently and anxiously as they witnessed a protector of the kingdom kill one of his own men. They watched (Y/N) take slow steps back as the killer took slow steps forward.
"Uhm, I think you should run away," the young boy warned. "He looks like he's about to hurt you."
"Quiet! You're distracting me."
"Miss, you need to go!" The yellow dragon grabbed the prison bars in his desperate heeding.
Mizari's steps quickened very suddenly, his sword starting to come over his shoulder. "You shouldn't disrespect the dragons like that, (Y/N). They're important."
(Y/N)'s sword was useless at this point. She had more of a chance if she ran. But she couldn't abandon her post. What would the princess think of her? Or more importantly, what would Yotaka have to say? Would he call her foolish, too? A coward incapable of standing up for herself? Disloyal to her highness? An embarrassment? Maybe it would be all of those things.
Mizari's footsteps turned into a mad dash when (Y/N) stopped backing away. He was too fast for her to escape to see another day. She closed her eyes and braced for death.
But instead, a pair of arms wrapped around her tightly and held her close to a warm body. Then there was quiet.
When (Y/N) opened her eyes again, Yotaka's body lay at her feet. Mizari dropped his sword, seeing what damage he had done.
(Y/N) dropped to her knees, turning his heavy body over to look him in his eyes that struggled to stay open. "No no, Yotaka, stay awake!" She called for help as she held Yotaka's bloodied hands. "Mizari, how could you!?"
Tears were forming in his eyes, despite his murderous intentions only moments ago. "I... I didn't mean it! I didn't want to hurt Yotaka!"
"But... you'd hurt (Y/N)?" Yotaka forced the words out of his mouth as his strength was fading. "Over my dead body."
"Yotaka, don't say that!"
Soldiers ran over to the scene quickly, some ceasing Mizari and putting him in his own cell while the others got called for a doctor. As he was being carried away, Yotaka demanded that (Y/N) stayed by his side, not wanting to let her out of his sight.
He was set down in the medical tent on a stretcher, and the doctor prepared his medicine for treatment. The warrior's hand gripped tightly onto (Y/N)'s hand, making sure she stayed put the whole time.
"Why on earth did you do that!?" (Y/N) cried. "You could have died!"
"So could you... I knew he was up to no good..." His eyes pierced through (Y/N)'s heart. "I wasn't about... to let you get hurt."
(Y/N) closed her eyes as she took a deep breath. She had to tell him—she didn't want to just be 'friends' forever. It wasn't fair to keep torturing herself over whether or not her love would return her feelings, especially in this kind of circumstance.
"Yotaka. I... want to stay by your side." When she saw Yotaka's face seemed to search her eyes for answers, she continued. "I-I want to be more than friends. I want to be able to protect you, too! I want you in my life..."
She sat there in silence. After there was no response for quite some time, she pulled her hand out of is in rejection, only for it to be grabbed again tighter.
"I want that, too... I love you, (Y/N). All I ever want... is for you to be by my side in all my days... You're my own princess."
Neither could resist any longer. She knelt down and their lips met with love sprouting between them. It was soft, like the kind of heart she knew he had. She felt so much lighter after feeling so much weight in her heart, but it was all magically lifted now. She was happy.
They parted their kiss and Yotaka held her hand to his lips. "I love you."
"I love you too, Yotaka."
