The Window (Ch. 02)
Tumblr media
Tw: breeding kink, reverse harem gangbang MDNI
This is a repost sorry I’m trying to fix a broken link situation. Just ignore me.
The waiting was the worst part. You tried not to stare at the pregnancy test strip while it was still loading. A watched pot never boils, or whatever that saying was. You scrolled through your phone, you paced back and forth, and you listened to the murmuring voices on the other side of the door, eagerly awaiting the good news.
But, there wouldn’t be any celebrating. Not this month.
You threw the negative strip in the trash and tried to hold it together. You had been flipping through online baby stores, looking at cribs, watching videos about safety, and reading the towering stack of what-to-expect books that Soap’s mom had bought for you (you still hadn’t forgiven him for telling her, but you sent her a sweet thank-you card). And yet… it felt like it was all for nothing.
You imagined what it must be like for those women who got pregnant if a strong wind blew too hard that day, and you tried to fight the pang of jealousy. Then, you thought about your team. The disappointed look on their faces would be so hard to bear. But, you needed to let them know.
The door handle was cold in your hands as you popped it open and left the bathroom. When you looked up at the group, they were all sat, patiently waiting to hear what you’d come to report. It was quiet at first, and then Kyle raised his hands, an eager expression of joy on his face,
“Well?”
By the sudden, pained look in your eyes, he got his answer. In a flash, you were buried in Simon’s chest, wrapped in his huge arms, hearing him whisper,
“It’s alright, love. Next time.”
You felt Price’s palm on the nape of your neck, and Johnny had grabbed your hand. You fought the tears, overwhelmed by their support.
Simon broke his hug and sat down with you. You told them,
“I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I just can’t seem to —”
“No, lass. I willnae sit here and listen to you blame yourself,” Johnny protested.
“Agreed,” Simon nodded, pushing a lock of your hair behind your ear.
Price sighed, and his men looked up at him for guidance. So, he said,
“We’ll just have to double our efforts. We’re not giving up, love. Don’t you worry.”
A warm hand circled around your shoulders from the other side of the sofa, and you saw Kyle’s face light up with mischief,
“I like the sound of that plan.”
And that’s how you ended up in Price’s quarters, surrounded by all of your soldiers, getting pumped full of their thick come.
Gaz was pounding his length into your body like a machine. The wet schlicking noise your pussy was making for him filled the room, mixing with the dark, deep moans from the others as they watched you take his long shaft.
You were laying on the bed, propped up a bit with your head resting on Price’s huge thigh, watching him fist his fat, uncut rod inches from your face, waiting his turn. He was petting your forehead, telling you what a pretty little girl you were and how much he was looking forward to filling you up to your limit.
Ghost sat on the edge of the bed, jerking himself off languidly, lolling his soft tongue across your nipple, sucking it when he wanted to, leaving pink marks on your skin. Meanwhile, Johnny had situated his mouth right over your clit, not really minding Gaz and his pounding, eating you like he was going to starve to death.
You’d lost count of your orgasms, but you thought you were still in the single digits. Simon’s come was already frothing, packed deep inside of you from his earlier spend, coating your walls and Gaz’s shaft as he worked. The wetness made his cock gleam like a shining popsicle, and you wanted to lick him clean.
It was so erotic, you couldn’t help but cry out,
“Mmffuck! Kyle… please. Oh, my fucking God!”
“Good girl,” he smiled, panting, “You ready for more?”
You nodded your head, turning your cheek toward John, looking for his comfort. You laid your hand on the back of Simon’s head and encouraged him to suck a little harder.
John’s warm hand pet your cheek as he looked down at you,
“Here, love. Need something to suck on? C’mon. It’ll make you feel so full, won’t it.”
He pointed his swollen head down toward your lips and let you suckle from the drooling tip, comforting yourself with his flesh, enjoying his musky taste.
You felt Johnny’s mouth begin to suck at your clit’s rigid body, using his smooth tongue to push it back and forth, making Gaz’s every thrust feel like pure electricity. Your body arched into it, and even though your grunting and screaming were muffled by the captain’s cockhead, you came with a swirling, all-encompassing bliss, letting the glittering sensation rush through your veins like a drug.
“Pretty girl,” John held your cheek gently, feeling it swell with his hardness, “You look so beautiful when you come for us.”
“Fuck,” Gaz sighed, “She’s so bloody tight. I can’t… I’m gonna fuckin’ come.”
The whole room watched as he unloaded his pleasure into you, seeing his face melt with joy, looking at how his cock had stretched its way into you, pulsing now with each drop of his thick come.
“Tha’s it. Legs up for us, bonnie girl. Cannae have Gaz’s work go to waste, hm?” Soap grinned, helping you bend your hips up into position. Then, the moment Kyle stumbled back from you, Johnny eagerly took his place.
He wasn’t just hard, he was throbbing. His cockhead was rosy and pink, pulsating with his blood flow, ready and hungry for its hole. Johnny smiled down at you, his chin shiny and dripping from his meal, covered in you from cheek to cheek. He used his fingers to gently push Gaz’s stray load back inside of you and followed it with his cock.
Johnny wasn’t nearly as long as Gaz, but he was curved just right, arched and girthy, perfect for your already-sensitive g-spot. His feral thrusting had you crying out as you pulled your mouth away from Price, turning to face him in shock. His hands were busy, too. Johnny spread your legs apart by your knees and held them aloft, trying to keep all of the wet, creamy gifts you’d been given deep inside you.
In almost no time at all, he was ready to burst inside of you. Ever since he’d begun, you’d felt like you were riding the high of one long, never-ending orgasm, and you felt your pussy clenching around him, well-used and pliant.
“Holy fuck, lass. You’re so full of us. Gonna be drippin’ outta you all night, I’ll bet.”
“Are you gonna fill me up, Johnny?” You keened, knowing how much he liked it when you teased him.
“Jesus Christ, Sparrow,” Soap’s eyes furrowed, looking lost and then… he found himself. His orgasm raced through his body, bursting from his shaft in long, hot ropes of come, spending himself into you almost violently.
Barely able to breathe, he removed himself from you as gently as he could, wiping the fluids off of his cock and shoving them back into your well-used hole.
“Si,” Price commanded, “Can you hand me the plug?”
“Aye, Captain. Here,” Simon handed him the clean, girthy vaginal plug that the captain had purchased and passed it to him.
Carefully, Price reached down and wet it at your entrance before stuffing it inside of you, sealing his men’s semen inside.
“Wait,” you breathed, trying to get your brain back online, “What about you? It’s your turn.”
You looked up at him, glassy-eyed, and he grinned,
“I think you’ve got enough in there to last you the week, little bird.”
“But…” You tried not to sound selfish, but you couldn’t figure out how to ask for what you wanted.
Simon knew what you were trying to say, and he said it for you,
“She wants you, too, Cap. Full or not.”
“She’s spent, and she needs water and rest. She doesn’t need any more of —”
“Please?” You asked, watching him get up from the bed and move to get dressed, “Please, John.”
He put his shirt back on the chair and mounted you as if he was going to fuck you, pushing himself onto your body like an animal, pinning you down. His voice was a warning,
“Are you askin’ me ‘cause you think that’s wha’ I wanna hear, Spar?”
You shook your head, whispering, reeling from his display of power,
“No, I just… want you.”
Price sighed, running a wide hand down his face and looked over at his men. It seemed like he was asking for help, or permission. You didn’t fully understand, but Ghost did.
Simon stepped into his gym shorts and motioned for Gaz and Soap to follow him,
“Gonna hop in the shower. Still watchin’ MASH later, yeah?” Ghost put his huge hand on your forehead and brushed your hair out of your face.
“Aye,” Price nodded, watching them file out.
Johnny gave you his usual kisses, one on your lips and one on your forehead,
“Makin’ you popcorn, too, bonnie. Extra butter.”
You kissed him back, smiling at the boys as they left you alone with their leader.
You turned to him, waiting for him to decide, giving him a way out,
“Hey, if you don’t want to —”
“No,” he interrupted you, resting his impossibly fat cock on your folds, the head of him reaching past your belly button, “Tha’s not it, love. I want you so bad I can barely look at you. I just don’t wanna hurt you. Gonna be sore tomorrow, soldier,” he joked, trying to take the sincerity out of his voice, rubbing your outer lips with his thumbs, massaging the stretched muscles with care.
“You won’t hurt me,” you reached down and pet his shaft with your fingertips, pressing it into your belly, caressing it with the lightest touch. Against his will, it jerked up towards your hand in response.
He eyed you for a moment before twisting the plug out of you, not as mindful as Soap, letting the wet body of the toy rest on his sheets, covered in other men’s come.
Price dipped his thumb into your swollen hole, gathering up the mix of fluids onto the pad of his finger. He grabbed you by the nape of your neck and pulled you up, presenting this offering to you. Without breaking eye contact, you sucked his thumb into your mouth, eating the warm cream off of his hand.
Then, he angled himself toward you, still holding you upright, letting you watch as his cock stretched your lips wide and tight. Happy with his position, he tucked both of his hands around the back of your neck and began to rut into you like a wild beast.
You thought he was concerned about hurting you, but he didn’t hold back. If anything, he fucked you harder, as if he was trying to teach you — or himself — some kind of lesson. It was too intense. You could feel every inch of him as if you were being fucked for the first time. Your body trembled, and your mind swam, high from the continual hit of oxytocin, the pleasure making your thoughts dreamlike and surreal.
“Such a good girl for us,” he breathed, “Watchin’ you take their come like that. Bloody gorgeous. So willing. Your body just loves our cocks, don’t it?”
You nodded, trying to gasp for air, tumbling into an orgasm hard and fast.
“Yeah?” He grunted, “Fuckin’ hell. You fit me like a goddamn glove, little bird. I can feel them inside of you. All of their come. Feels so soft. So wet…”
“John… unghhh!” You came on him, but he didn’t let up. He just fucked you right through it, letting you suffer on his muscle, riding you hard and sloppy.
“Can’t wait to see you with that full, round belly. These big, heavy tits. Will you let me taste your milk, hm? Just a taste.”
He sucked your nipple into his mouth and laved at it with his tongue, sending bolts of pleasure right to your core. You weren’t sure what had gotten into your captain, but he was out of his mind with lust. His grunting and moaning were loud and shameless, and he manhandled your body like you belonged to him. Like you were his plaything.
“You are so beautiful…” John’s voice changed its timbre, and you met his eyes. There was something else he had to tell you, but he didn’t get the chance to say it. His face twisted into a mask of blissful agony and he let himself go, pumping his come deep inside of you, screaming in loud, barking shouts, holding you so tightly to him, you could barely breathe.
He fell on you, keeping his cock buried to its hilt, pulsing in you like a second heartbeat, totally spent. With the last bit of his energy, he fumbled with the plug and replaced himself with it, rolling off of you carefully, so as not to harm you.
Hours may have passed; you had no idea. But, since the others hadn’t come looking for you, you figured time was expanding only in your mind. You were pinned to Price’s furry body, covered in his heavy muscles as his little spoon, listening to him breathe. Eventually, when you could speak in full sentences again, you spoke softly.
“John,” you kissed his palm, “Are you alright?”
“I’m fallin’ for you, little bird,” he said with a cold, calculated certainty, “We all are. Don’t know how one baby can have four fathers.”
Your heart was crushed at the disappointment in his voice, and you turned to face him,
“So, what if it has four fathers? Will you love them less?”
“No,” he shook his head, “Of course not. If you… If you asked me to, I’d sign my bloody name no matter whose baby it was. Tha’s not what I’m worried about.”
“What are you worried about?” You put your hand on his cheek, making him look at you.
“I’m worried it’ll be too much for you. That we’ll be too much for you. You should do what makes you happy, little bird.”
He rolled out of bed and put his clothes back on in silence. When he was done, he helped you sit up and gave you some water. Wrapping you in a big fluffy robe, he pulled you to your feet and squeezed your hand,
“C’mon. Let’s go watch your show. The lad’s will be waitin’ for you.”
You followed your captain out to the common room, seeing that Simon and Johnny had saved you a seat between them. You smiled, settling into the middle of the couch, watching as Price sat in his big chair, lighting a cigar and stealing some popcorn from Gaz.
You couldn’t help but think about what he had said, nor could you stop thinking about the way that he had fucked you. Absent-mindedly, out of some form of comfort, you squeezed your tired muscles around the plug, wondering what the future held for you and these men. Could you care for them all? Was that even in the realm of possibility? It was so far from the accepted norm, you couldn’t envision a life like that. But, you were no quitter. If anyone was worth trying for, it was these four soldiers, and you decided you were going to do everything you could to care for them as much as they cared for you. Normalcy be damned.

Pt.1 Pt.2 Pt.3 Pt.4 Pt.5 Pt.6
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You woke up to the smell of bacon being cooked. Odd? Who is cooking if no one is home. Sitting up from your bed, you glanced at the time seeing it was 10am. Walking out of the room the smell of bacon got stronger. In front of you was your father Miguel cooking breakfast. You quickly rubbed your eyes wanting to make sure you aren’t dreaming. “Buenos días, cariño*” Miguel glances back at you hearing the creek of the floorboards. You only stood there in shock. He’s home for once and calling you with love and affection. “I…Um…good morning?” You finally replied back sitting down on the chair slowly. He placed a plate in front of you and took a seat across from you. “(Y.N) …Escucha, sé que no soy el mejor padre*.” He began. “I know I left you all on your own, but I have to man up and fix my mistakes.” He looks at you before slowly holding your hand “and I know it won’t be easy, but I’ll try my best.” He smiles before slowly releasing your hand. You only stood there stunned thinking about it. Did Lyla talk to him? Did Peter? So many thoughts were running around your head before letting out a sigh. “I …what made you have a change of heart…you know that yesterday was my- “he cuts you off, “I know it was your birthday and I’m sorry” he pulls out a box from under the table. You were so shocked about this new side of your dad that you didn’t even see the box when you sat down. “Happy Late Birthday “he smiles, sliding the box towards you. You slowly open it inside before gasping seeing the latest technology you’ve always wanted. You dug your hand till it hit the bottom and saw a ticket to your favorite concert. “How did you know I wanted this? I always begged you to let me see this singer, but you wouldn’t hear me out…I…” you are feeling so many emotions. “I told you I was going to try my best to fix this” he smiles before letting out a grunt as you tackle him into a hug “thank you! Thank you!” You chanted. Miguel only lets out a small smile rubbing your back affectionately. You let him go and walked to the top cabinet grabbing a glass to fill. “let’s have breakfast before you head to work “you smile enjoying this small moment with him. Maybe your wish did come true, to stop feeling alone.
You walked down the halls of your high school. It was going to be your last year and you promised your friends you were going to make it a blast. Humming out a song you unlocked your locker. “Hey boo you’re in a much better mood.” Lyla appeared inside your locker snapping a selfie with you. “Glad you’re here, did you talk to my dad?” You asked her while collecting the items you’ll need on this day. “ wha? No, I didn’t. Why do you ask?” She looks at the selfie editing it. “He came home and made breakfast. He also got me tickets for the concert.” You smile enthusiastically looking at the AI. Lyla watches you “he did?” She was concerned, if she remembered correctly…Miguel was at the base this morning working but then again, he did slip out for a moment so maybe that’s where he went. Lyla only smiles “I’m so glad boo! Maybe Peter talked with him?” You nodded “I was thinking the same. Alright, I got to go Lyla.” You closed the locker going on to continue your education. Lyla stood in the pitch dark of the locker in deep thought “I’ll have to talk to Miguel” she mutters before disappearing.
School for once was a day you enjoyed, maybe it has to do with the fact you're slowly getting your father back. You’ll have to thank Peter once you get the chance to visit the Society HQ. You start to wonder what made him realize he has a daughter here. All this thinking made you hungry, spotting your favorite empanada stand. You walked over and got in line. ‘Maybe I’ll order extra to bring home’ you thought before smiling, giving your order to the kind old lady. Once you reached home, you closed the door behind you. “Are you home?” You call out placing the bag on the table. “Ya has vuelto de la escuela*?” Miguel emerges from the kitchen door. He glances at the bag. “Y eso?” He walked over looking into the box. “ I got you some empanadas” You smile before letting it falter seeing him sniff the bag. His face of disgust was present, “I’m not hungry, you eat it.” He quickly replaces the face of disgust into a smile. Something wasn’t right here, he loved empanadas. He would never reject it. “But it’s your favorite?” You sat down and grabbed a couple for yourself. Miguel grabs a glass of water, his back turned to you. He panicked for a bit before adding on, “Yes but I think I ate too many last time that it just makes me dislike it” He walks over rubbing your head, “It will go away and I’ll go back to liking them okay?” He pressed his lips to the side of your head before sitting down next to you. “Cómo fue tu día en la escuela*?” He asked. You only nodded taking his excuse before smiling, feeling his lip on the side of your head. “ It went well!” You ate the empanada while telling him how your day went.
Lyla stood behind Miguel watching him work away. “Hey Miguel” She appears in front of him. “Quick question” Miguel looks up at her and only grunts telling her to go on. “That was nice of you to get (Y/N) tickets to the concert” She sits on his shoulder waiting for his response. His answer only made her glitch and worried for you.
“What tickets?”
laundry day
Eijiro Kirishima/Fem!Reader
word count: 2k
summary: Laundry day was one of his favorite days of the week for a few reasons. A broken washing machine in your apartment requiring a trip to a laundromat wasn’t going to ruin that for him.
warnings: public sex, fingering, needy!Kiri, references to past (probably painful) quirk mishaps, unprotected sex, Kirishima is a talker
“Why don’t you sort your clothes?” you grumble, sifting through the laundry bag he carried in to see if there were any more white shirts hiding in there. You’d already found three, you were certain there’d be more. There was always one more.
“Why is it now a problem?” he asks from where he sits atop one of the folding tables, watching as he was told while you load the washing machines. “Didn’t care last week.”
“Last week the washer wasn’t broken on laundry day.”
“So?”
“So at home I can just throw the next shirt I find into the machine. Here the door locks when it starts washing so I can’t do that and I’d like to protect your white clothes while not paying extra to wash them.”
“If these,” he lifts a pair of your red panties and swings them around his finger, “turn one of my shirts pink, then I’m not complaining. It’ll probably remind me of your p-”
“Stop right there.”
“I was gonna say panties, before you get yours in a bunch.” The teasing only has you slamming the washer door shut, rolling your eyes as he laughs while slingshotting your panties into the other machine that already had some of his clothes in it. “Relax, baby, it’s laundry day!”
“Not as fun when we’re not at home, Eijiro.”
“You’re working too hard, that’s all.” And he wasn’t helping, so go figure. The busy pro hero had not done the laundry since you’d moved in together - that was happily taken on as your task since he always managed to do the dishes even after long days of work keeping the streets clean and free from villany. The busy pro who always tried to take laundry day, or at least the morning of laundry day, to stay home since the rule was “everything worn gets washed” which meant he got to watch you walk around the apartment naked while he also lounged around in the buff.
The washing machine breaking the other day, and your darling pro hero boyfriend’s tired attempt at fixing it only making it worse, is why you had to be in the laundromat and washing clothes while fully clothed.
“Do you work later?”
“Trying not to, but anything can happen.”
You nod at that, holding your hand out for more coins and looking over when he only put his hand in yours to hold it. The relaxed smile on his face eases all the tension in your body almost immediately; and you squeeze his hand with a smile of your own as he puts the coins in for you, bringing your knuckles to his lips for a kiss as you start the machine.
“Not very chivalrous of me to let you do all the work here, when it’s kinda my fault we have to be here.”
“I won’t tell if you won’t,” you promise, leading him back towards the folding table you’d made your base camp for the morning. He lifts you onto it with ease, standing between your legs and resting his head on your chest. He hadn’t styled his hair this morning so the bright red locks laid flat against his head, making it easy for you to run your fingers through his hair and scratch at his scalp without getting product under your nails.
“'M sorry I messed up the washer.”
“All good, the thing was going out anyway. The new one gets delivered on Monday, and we’ll be back to normal.” Your reasoning is met with a hum, his fingers ghosting along the skin of your thighs left uncovered by your shorts. It’s an innocent touch, but quickly turns less than when those nimble digits dance their way under the loose material along the inside of your thighs.
“Eijiro, we’re in public.”
“We’re alone, baby, ‘n I wanna say sorry:”
“You can say sorry at home.”
“Not fun.” He’s pouting at you now, trying to play at your weaknesses while his fingers stay just barely away from your mound. “C’mon, baby, it’ll be okay. Just wanna take care of you for taking such good care of me. Just my fingers, promise.”
There were many ways that this could go wrong. He couldn’t “just” finger you, he was too eager to please and once he got a taste of you he could never stop. Not until you were thoroughly spent and requiring that he stopped so you could breathe. But you couldn’t fight the pout, nor could you argue with the desire that he’d stirred up with his fingers alone.
“Just your fingers?”
“I promise, and you know a chivalrous hero never breaks a promise.”
He hadn’t yet, and that has you nodding while leaning in to kiss him. The grin on his face is nothing short of victorious, his fingers finding their place between your folds and finding that your body had chosen long before you did.
“Already wet, and you didn’t wear panties. I’d say you wanted to get fucked in the laundromat this morning.”
“My body knows that laundry soap means I’m about to get dicked down, that’s all.”
“Mhm. I’m sure my big muscles carrying both of the baskets in one trip had nothing to do with it.”
“You caught me.” Your hand coming up to grip one of those biceps when two fingers push into your wet pussy with ease only has him smirking, pushing his forehead to yours to ensure he didn’t miss a single indication of pleasure in your face. “I do love your big muscles, Eiji.”
“Yeah, I know. What do you want for lunch?” His fingers move inside you as he poses the question, thumb carefully grazing over your clit which has you gasping before you can answer. “ I don’t think ‘ah!’ is food, baby.”
Your witty counter is just a whispered “shut up”, as he’s bringing a third finger to join the other two and the feeling of the stretch has your mind buffering a bit. It’d been about a week since you and Eijiro had time like this, he’d been busy and your own work had picked up a bit - two tired bodies and exhausted minds did not make for real interest in sex.
“Missed you, baby,” he whispers, nudging your nose with his own as his fingers continue their easy thrusts. “Missed you so much, I hate how much I’m working.”
“Missed you too, Eiji,” you murmur back, teeth catching his top lip as his fingers curl inside you. “But your work is important, I can handle the late nights and early mornings.”
“Not very chivalrous to leave a beautiful girl all alone in that big bed.” His thumb presses against your clit, his free hand holding your thigh open to keep his access unrestricted. “Needed her big strong hero to keep her warm, help her cum, and I was off being chivalrous to other people.”
His thumb lifts, and you try to follow but his hands keep you firmly planted in your spot at the table. This wasn’t the time to tease, but you knew he wouldn’t risk dragging this out while you were in public, it was too dangerous for that.
“I’d get on my knees for you right now if I could.” His whisper is heavy with his own need, a hiss escaping when your free hand cups the bulge in his shorts. “Baby.”
“It’s not breaking a promise if I ask, right?” your offer has him pulling back so he could properly look at you with pupils blown, lips parted - the picture of needy perfection, swallowing in anticipation when you whisper: “Please fuck me, Eijiro.”
You trusted that he wouldn’t agree if there was even a chance of being caught on camera. He was in the top ten, there was too much to lose in a scandal like this. So you knew it was safe when he nods, but you also knew that the excitement might end up being too much for him.
His hands are only slightly shaky as he pushes his shorts down just enough to free his length, and you’re thankful that your shorts only needed to be pushed to the side to allow him to line himself up with your dripping core since you didn’t want to have to scramble for them should someone come in.
Even with the prep; after two weeks without him, the stretch to accommodate feels insane. Maybe it’s the environment and the risk making you tense,which in turn was making your gummy walls akin to a vice around your sweet boyfriend, but you know by the look on his face that he’s not going to last long this time around - but he’d always deliver.
“Need a minute,” he mumbles, his hands gripping your hips as your hands carefully come up to hold his cheeks. “Can’t even begin to explain how fucking great you feel right now.”
“Just keep that quirk in check, big guy,” you whisper, earning a breathy laugh from your lover at the reminder as his hands give you a gentle squeeze. Those hands were always gentle when they touched you, holding your hips at just the right angle as he started to move inside you. The pressure of his fingertips was just right, his hips meeting yours in borderline frantic thrusts with one goal: get off before getting caught in the act. Your hand finds itself on the back of his head, fingers interwoven in the soft red locks as he kisses along your jawline. Gentle nips are soothed by softer kisses, sweet nothings whispered in between while you relish in the attention you’re getting from your beloved.
And the whole time he’s talking. Whispering to you how much he loves you, how wonderful you are, how good you feel, how badly he can’t wait to get you home and do this all over again all day until he has to stop. It’d been too long, he’d missed you and your body so much, he never wanted to go that long without you again.
“Baby, baby, fuck,” he groans, pressing his face into the crook of your neck as the grip on your hips grew tighter. The pace of his thrusts becomes uneven, one hand moving from your hip so he could rub at your clit to push you towards his desired end. “You’re so fucking good, gonna cum for me? Gonna cum so I can give you mine?”
You can only nod, your own hand tightening in his hair to keep him close while he fucks into you. You can hear the back of the table you’re perched on banging against the washing machines behind you, but you can’t hear the words tumbling from your lips into his shoulder as the coil in your gut continues to tighten.
“That’s it, baby, please please cum. Always look so pretty when you do.” His mumbles into your neck only push you closer, your heart pounding and blood rushing through your ears the only thing that you could focus on as your legs tighten around his hips. You’re biting into his shoulder when you finally topple over that edge, the release desperately needed and has your toes curling as his hips still against yours and your senses are flooded with a different warmth.
“Fuck,” you whisper, releasing his hair and gently massaging at his scalp to try and soothe whatever ache might have been left from your grip. “Needed that, baby. Needed you.”
“Yeah?”
“Pretty girl needed her big strong hero.” Your confirmation has him grinning into your neck, leaving a gentle kiss on your skin before he’s pulling back to rest his forehead against yours.
“Let's get cleaned up, baby. Wanna sit or come with me to the bathroom?”
“I’ll sit.”
He nods as he pulls out, tucking himself back into his shorts before leaving you with a kiss to your nose to go to the bathroom. You only sit for a second before you’re turning back to face where he was still heading to the bathroom.
“There was a bathroom all along!?"
A/N : thank you so much for the request, i hope you enjoyed 🫶🏻
Jason Carver has always been a pain in your ass, you were different and he and his little gang knew that - and enjoyed picking on you. It increased when you got with Eddie, you became the freaky couple.
You loved being with Eddie you really did, it was great. The bullying you could deal without though honestly. “Hey Sweetheart,” you heard a familiar voice call as you walked through the hall - ready to go home.
“Hi Eds.”
“How was English?” he asked, easily linking his fingers with yours. “Good, kinda boring though. How was algebra?”
He cocked his brow at you. “You skipped again? Eddie you need to pass that class!”
“I know I know, but I had a deal to do.” You rolled your eyes at your boyfriend.
“Hey hey, don’t do that, I’ll go tomorrow I promise.”
“I’ll walk you to class tomorrow.”
“I’ll hold you to that,” he grinned, which you could help match - he had a beautiful smile.
Jogging ahead, Eddie opened the door for you, ducking under his arm you spoke, “Thank you kind sir.”
“Course M’lady.”
Walking out into the parking lot, you couldn’t hide your sigh, spotting Jason and his gang. “He giving you trouble?”
“Nope,” you said, popping the ‘p’.
“Babe-“ he was cut off.
“Aw look who it is. The king of the freaks and his queen,” Carver jested, making his friends laugh.
You felt Eddie tug away from you, “Eddie no, let’s just go,” you spoke pulling him towards his van. “Hey wait up you two!” The boy shouted running over.
“What?” Eddie snapped.
“Aw, no need to be mean, just wanted to know how my favourite freaks are.”
“I wouldn’t know, why don’t you go and ask your pals over there,” your boyfriend growled.
“Eddie,” you whispered, tugging his jacket.
“No need to be rude. Hey Y/N why do you put up with this guy?”
“Don’t talk to them.”
“Eds leave it,” you warned.
“You must be a good lay Munson, but hey Sweetheart if you need a real fuck from a real man let me know-“
Whack!
Eddie fist hit Jason square in his face, making a vile cracking sound - you weren’t sure if it was his fingers or “MY NOSE!” Jason screamed.
“Eddie!” you shouted, but the boy had pulled away from you completely, hitting Jason again. “You never talk to them like that! You never talk to them end of!”
“Eddie come on man!” Gareth and Jeff ran over pulling him off of Jason - along with Steve who was there to pick up Robin. Eddie was shaking with anger, you with fear, you’d never seen him like that.
You couldn’t look at him, you couldn’t be here. Walking away was the only thing you could think of. “Y/N!” you heard Robin call.
“You okay?” she asked when she caught your arm.
You shook your head, “Hey it’s alright, you’re okay,” she said softly, taking you in her arms. “Sweetheart I-“ you heard Eddie speak, “I told you to leave it.”
“I wasn’t going to let him speak to you like that!”
“Well getting in a fight won’t fix it! What if they kick you out of school?”
“Sweetheart-“
“No! That was so stupid to do Eddie.”
“Stupid? I was sticking up for you!” he snapped. “I do not need you to fight my battles Edward Munson, I’m grown up enough to deal with him!”
“Clearly not when you’re tugging me away!”
“To avoid situations like this!”
“Well that’s just being a coward!” he shouted at you. You were stunned, a coward?
“Y/N I .. I didn’t mean that.”
“No, boyfriend or not, you do not talk to me like that. I told you to leave it and you ignored me, if you ever do anything like this again we’re done.”
You walked away from him. “At least let me drive you home, it’s going to pour it down.”
“I really don’t want to be near you right now.”
“I’ll drive you home,” Steve spoke, patting Eddies shoulder. “Fine,” the metalhead sighed. “Fine,” you repeated not meeting his gaze.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
You hadn’t spoke to Eddie in days, actively avoiding him, not ready to deal with the situation. You’d never argued, even when you were just friends. You never even bickered.
It was horrible, but you couldn’t do it. Not yet. You’d joined Robin and Vickie at lunchtimes and on your free periods you’d hide in the library.
Jason and his friends had backed off, only speaking to you to apologise. You’d done the same, saying sorry for Eddies actions.
The boys nose was broken and his eyes swollen with ugly black bruising.
“Honey, we’re going now. Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?” your mom asked, popping her head round the door.
“I’m good, got work to do, tell Gran I said hi.”
“Okay, well we might have to stay over. Just because did the big storm coming, okay?”
“Okay. Be safe.”
“Will do.”
You hated storms, the damage they did, the loud noise of the thunder and hammering rain. You decided to try and ignore it, grabbing a text book and sitting at your desk.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
Your mom was right, the storm was horrible, hitting not long after they left. The rain echoing off the roof, lightning flashing and thunder shaking the house.
The lights began flickering, “Shit, no no no.” Soon you were plunged into total darkness.
“Fuck,” you whined, the storm had caused a blackout, looking outside to see the street lamps had turned off too.
This was the worst, a storm and the dark. Plus you were alone, knowing your parents weren’t coming home you felt the anxiety rise.
Soon you heard a thump on the front door, who the hell was that in this weather? Probably an axe murderer, wouldn’t that just be great.
Walking down the stairs, the knocking came again. “I’m coming I’m coming!” Pulling the door back you were stunned. There was a soaking wet Eddie Munson.
“Hi,” he said.
“What are you doing here?”
“I-“ he began, but thunder boomed and you pulled him into the house, almost slamming the door.
“What are you doing here?” you repeated.
“I … I know you’re still mad and me and you have full right to be, but I just … I know how much you hate storms and I didn’t want you to be alone.”
You sighed, feeling your heart flutter. Almost launching yourself on Eddie, wrapping your arms around him. “I’m so glad you’re here.”
His arms wrapped around your waist, “I’m sorry baby.”
“Me too. I’m sorry I got mad at you, I know you were trying to defend me I just .. the idea of you fighting and seeing you fight. Eddie I hated it.”
“I know I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay, just please stay away from Jason.”
“I will I promise, I don’t want to loose you.”
“You’re not going to … I love you Eddie.”
“Oh Sweetheart I love you too.”
When Jack came home, you were sitting on the couch strolling through your Instagram not even throwing a glance his way. He walks in and smiles when he sees you. “Hey babe, it was a good day at the studio, got a lot done but I missed you though.” He said with a huge smile on his face as he walked up to you going to kiss your lips but you moved your head slightly so that his lips met your cheek.
“What was that?” He questioned but you just ignored him and kept scrolling through your phone. You were pissed and you had every right to be, today was your wedding anniversary and you thought to make it special by cooking his favorite food and setting up his favorite lingerie that he could take off of you later but he forgot. You tried giving him the benefit of the doubt like maybe his phone stopped working but he texted you earlier asking you to send a picture of the cologne he regularly used.
You knew he would be busy with his album, and you were fine with that, you supported him every step of the way but you never expected him to forget an important day like this, you treasured this day so much, the day you married your high school sweetheart so him forgetting made you feel hurt, you’d have been happy if he just sent a text, it was the thought that count.
“So you not gon tell me why you’re acting weird?” Jack was getting quite annoyed at being ignored especially when he came home early to be with you since he missed you throughout the day, you were the only thing on his mind when he was at the studio so for you to be acting this way towards him was crazy. You simply rolled your eyes and got up and walked past him, bumping his shoulder as you walked to the dining table and picked up the plates of food that were now cold, and made your way to the kitchen to wrap them with saran wrap.
Jack wondered what he could’ve done to make you this mad at him but he came up empty. What he did know was he wasn’t going to let you go to bed angry. “Babe, please tell me what’s wrong so I can fix it,” he spoke softly as he walked into the kitchen, watching you put the food in the fridge. You ignored him again and were about to make your way to the bedroom but Jack immediately got in front of you, stopping you from taking another step. “Nuh-uh, you know we don’t do silent treatment and no going to sleep angry at each other,” he says as he looks down at you.
“Jackman move out of my way,” you said as you got annoyed with him being in your presence, not wanting to look into his eyes knowing if you do, you would give in like you always did. Jack was surprised by the use of his first name since you always called him ‘babe’ or ‘baby’. “Not until you tell me what's going on.”
“Do you know what today is? Why don’t you check the date!” You yelled as you stepped back putting some distance between you and him. You watched him pull out his phone with a quizzical look on his face and when he sees the date, you turn your back towards him not wanting to make eye contact since you might start crying at any moment. “Baby… I’m so sorry, I thought it was tomorrow, I swear I have everything planned,” you stayed silent and he came closer, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you closer to him and that’s all it took for the tears to roll down your cheeks and he started rocking you back and forth.
“You know I love you right?” He says soothingly as he starts tracing shapes on your stomach, you nod your head silently and lean more into his touch. “I promise you, I thought the 25th was tomorrow and had everything ready for us to celebrate,”
“It wouldn’t hurt you to start checking your calendar on your phone,” your response makes him chuckle. “Yes, I’ll be more up to date from now on, can we start over our anniversary for tomorrow, trust me you gon love what I have planned.”
You turn around in his arms and look into his blue eyes. “Yes we can, I’m sorry I was mean to you,” he shakes his head. “Don’t apologize, I deserved it, I love you,” he rubs your arm a bit. “I love you too, babe,” he connects his lips with yours, holding you close to him not letting you go, come tomorrow he will make it all up to you.
The moon hung high in the clear night sky, the bright beam reflecting onto the peaceful waters below. The view of the dark horizon was tranquil and the complete opposite of the pandemonium that was taking place just a few feet behind you.
Singing, hollers of celebration, and the clanking of stein glasses became mere background noise as you gazed at the midnight sky above. The myriad of stars dotting the heavens were almost like fireflies in the forest, giving some light to the otherwise dark sky.
Hongjoong's crew was celebrating another successful day of pillaging—it was exhausting. You'd become rather numb to these so-called celebrations. It's just a bunch of men acting like drunken fools to you.
The crew belted out sea shanties in their intoxicated states, the sour notes coming out slurred and garbled. You cringed. You didn't know how much more of this you could take.
The sound of heavy boots stumbling towards you caught your attention. An arm was slung haphazardly over your shoulder, the force making you jerk forward a bit.
"Y/n." Hongjoong slurred slightly, his breath smelling of rum. "What are you doing all the way over here?"
"Watching the moon." You answered.
"Come join us. You're missing out."
"No thank you."
He frowned. "What's wrong?"
"I just don't care for celebrations."
"But you've always enjoyed our celebrations."
"Yeah, but it's becoming a bit... how do I put this? Lackluster."
Hongjoong scoffed. "Lackluster?"
"Yeah. I just don't enjoy it much anymore."
"Let me change your mind."
You glanced over to see Hongjoong's hand extended towards you, his many gold rings glimmering under the lit torches.
You started to deny him, but stopped, pressing your lips together in thought.
"C'mon." That all too familiar charming smirk of his spread across his soft-looking lips. "You wouldn't refuse a dance with me, would you?"
"I might." You teased, a playful grin threatening to break out onto your features.
He made a face at you in return.
"Alright." You caved, clasping his extended hand. "I'll dance with you."
"I knew you couldn't resist." He simpered, leading you towards the middle of the main deck.
The drunken singing of the crew was much louder now that you were right in the middle of it. Hongjoong's cheeks were stained pink from the alcohol, no doubt, as he grinned brightly, taking your other hand. The two of you began spinning and skipping to the stomp of the crew's boots against the wooden boards of the ship. Neither of you ever really learned how to properly dance, but when you're a pirate, that doesn't matter much.
As you bounded in circles, you found yourself enjoying it more and more. The two of you danced in no particular rhythm, stomping your feet and bouncing around like fools. Your hands stayed clasped together as you swung them around, your joint laughter filling the air.
Once the chanting and off-key singing of the crew died down, you and Hongjoong ceased your dancing.
"See? That was fun, wasn't it?" He grinned.
"It was." You agreed, fixing the errant strands of his scruffy mullet.
"You always enjoy dancing with me."
"I do." You admitted.
"C'mon. Have something to drink." He pulled you towards one of the barrels set up and took it upon himself to fill up a stein.
He handed it to you with a smile. You reluctantly took it, taking a sip of the dark liquid.
"Next time we dock, I'll try and get some nice wine. How about that?" Hongjoong suggested.
"That would be wonderful. I'm starting to tire of rum."
"Hey, if you won't drink it, I will." Hongjoong reached out to grab the glass from you.
"Wait." You pulled it away. "Are you sure you should have any more?"
"Of course! You can never have enough alcohol."
"How many of these have you had?" You questioned, referring to the large stein in your hand.
"Three."
You pressed your lips together, hesitant to hand over the drink. Then again, Hongjoong is as stubborn as a mule. If you don't give it to him, he'll just make himself another glass.
"Very well, then." You gave in, handing over the glass.
"Thanks, lovely." He winked, taking the beverage from you.
You watched as he sauntered off, joining his crew to clink steins with them. One of the crew members began singing yet another drunken shanty, causing everyone to start dancing again. Hongjoong held his wooden stein up in the air, alcohol sloshing onto the deck as his crew cheered him on.
"Say my name!" He shouted.
"Captain Hongjoong! Captain Hongjoong! Captain Hongjoong!" They chanted, fueling his ego.
You could tell he loved that. He loved being the captain. It was his dream, after all.
A yawn spilled from your lips, catching you off guard. You hadn't realized how tired you were.
You stepped away from the railing of the ship and began to head towards the captain's cabin to turn in for the night.
You and Hongjoong shared a room, exactly the way he wanted. You were the only female on the ship and Hongjoong's dearest friend, as well as his right hand woman, so he wanted to make sure you stayed close, which is why you got the best room on the ship.
On the way to your shared room, you noticed someone sitting on the steps leading to the quarterdeck. He was hunched over, a head of soft, brown hair resting on the top of his knees. You were curious as to who was crouched on the steps alone. You had been on the ship for years and were familiar with every crew member, but you weren't sure who this was.
"Excuse me. Are you okay?" You asked, approaching the male.
He lifted his head, large, brown eyes looking up at you.
"Oh, Minho." You smiled, warmly. "I thought you'd be over there with everyone else." You spoke, gesturing to the celebration taking place a few feet behind you.
"No." He shook his head. "I'm not one for celebrations. They've become too hectic for me. To be honest, I thought you'd be over there. You're always with Hongjoong."
"Yeah, well, I've had my fill of celebrations for the night." You told him. "Hongjoong is on his own tonight. I've decided to turn in for the night."
"Well, I don't want to keep you out here. Sleep tight." He smiled.
"Thanks, Minho."
You stepped into your room, closing the door behind you.
Hongjoong's bed was unmade, as usual and his desk was an absolute mess. He was never one to clean up after himself. Apparently, he "has other things to worry about." You let out a sigh as you walked over to his desk where papers and books were scattered over the surface. The entire tabletop was in disarray. As much as you wanted to clean it up, you knew everything was more than likely left in place for a reason. So, you did the least you could possibly do, which was throw away any wadded pieces of paper as well as collect all of the pens and pencils scattered across the desk, placing them all into a cup.
You told yourself you'd stop and go to bed after that, but you didn't. You ended up stacking all the papers strewn across Hongjoong's desk, putting them in one, neat pile. Upon doing so, you discovered a large map spread across the tabletop. Your head tilted to the side when you noticed a red dot on the map. Normally, a red dot indicated that the town was going to be raided for supplies. You tried to read the name of the town, unable
to see well in the dimply lit room. Your eyes squinted as you leaned towards the map, until you heard a commotion just outside the cabin, which caused you to scurry away from Hongjoong's desk.
You made yourself busy, pulling back the covers on your bed, only to find that it was just a false alarm. The noises you heard were merely drunken crew mates making a ruckus.
You glanced back towards Hongjoong's desk sitting on the other side of the room, tempted to go back and look at the map, but you decided against it, choosing to get ready for bed.
You turned the knob on the oil lamp, dimming the light so you'd be able to rest. You wanted Hongjoong to be able to see when he finally came to bed, so you didn't put it out all the way.
As you laid in bed, your mind began to drift towards the map, your curiosity getting the best of you. Your head lifted from the pillow, your eyes staring across the room at Hongjoong's desk. Then, without thinking you flung the covers off of you and grabbed the oil lamp, moving across the room to the map spread on the table.
The dim glow of the low-burning flame illuminated the chart enough to where you could finally read the name of the town. You blinked a few times, getting a second look at it, wondering if you misread it.
"That can't be right." You murmured.
Worried about getting caught, you scurried back to bed and attempted to go to sleep. Instead of worrying about what you saw on that map, you just chose to confront Hongjoong about it the next day.
The sea breeze blew through your hair as you stood by Hongjoong's side on the forecastle deck.
"There's a town close by that we're going to pillage." He informed you as he steered the gigantic vessel.
"Was that the town you had marked in red on your map?"
"How did you know that?"
"I saw it on your desk last night. That town isn't a bad town. There's good people living there. Why would you plan to pillage it?"
"We need supplies. Plus, they're nearby."
"That's your reasoning?" You questioned.
"Yeah."
"Hongjoong, that town is well known for giving things to those in need. You should find another town to get supplies from."
"If that's true, then looting the town should be easy." He shrugged.
You were appalled, unable to believe what he just said.
"It makes more sense to go there because it's closer. We don't have enough supplies to last long enough to make it to the next town."
"Then ration our provisions."
"I can't do that."
"Yes you can. I'm not asking for much. Ration until we reach the next town."
You could tell Hongjoong was getting agitated, but you wouldn't have him pillage a town that didn't deserve it.
"What I say goes, and I say we're raiding that town."
"I want you to wait and raid another town."
"Well, you're not the captain, are you, Y/n?"
"No, but I am your friend." You responded, harshly, stepping forward to grab the wheel.
"Hey!" Hongjoong shouted. "What are you doing?"
"Steering us away from that town."
You began to fight with him, the wheel being pulled back and forth like a tug of war.
"Why don't you listen to me?" You asked.
"I'm the captain!" He snapped. "Not you!"
Hongjoong shoved you away, causing you to stumble back and fall onto the deck. A hiss left you as pain shot up your hip and elbow. You thought maybe your friend would feel some sort of remorse, but he only stared down at you, looking only mildly surprised at his actions.
You clenched your jaw and pushed yourself up off the deck, knowing you lost this fight.
"Forget it. I'm tired of this."
You stormed off the forecastle deck, getting as far away from Hongjoong as you could. You were absolutely fuming, wanting to unleash the burning anger inside. Hongjoong only raids towns that steal from the poor. Never has he even considered looting a town so generous—until now, apparently.
The way he simply brushed off the fact that he was about to pillage a small town that didn't deserve it made your blood boil. Truthfully, you don't think he understands the weight of his actions. He'll leave that town with hardly anything. They won't have anything left.
The sound of boots hitting the deck pulled your from your thoughts. Turning your head, you spotted Minho approaching you.
"You alright?" He asked.
Your lips pressed together as you briefly contemplated lying to him.
"No."
"I heard a commotion on the forecastle deck and wanted to check on you. I assume you and Captain got in a fight?"
"It's the first fight we've ever had. He wants to raid a town because it's nearby. I tired to talk him out of it because the town provides for others."
"That doesn't seem right." Minho responded.
"It's not. I tried to make him change his mind, but he just kept saying we don't have enough supplies and we have to dock there. I suggested rationing what we have and he completely shot down the idea."
Minho frowned in distaste. "Why is it so difficult to ration?"
"I don't know." You sighed, shaking your head. "He's never acted like this before. I don't know what's happening to him."
"I'm sorry he's being such a jerk."
"Me too. Sorry for dumping all of this onto you. I should have just lied and said I was okay."
"No." Minho shook his head. "I'm glad you were honest. It's not good to bottle things up. If you ever need to talk, I'm here. Okay?"
You nodded, giving him a weak smile.
The day went on and you tried your hardest to keep your distance, avoiding Hongjoong by any and all means. Much your dismay, Hongjoong had announced to the crew his plans of looting the poor town. You were set to dock in just a couple days.
When night settled over the sky, you began making your way towards the captain's quarters, only to stop in your tracks. Did you even want to sleep in the same room as Hongjoong?
You turned on your heel, redirecting your route to the crew's sleeping quarters, heading directly to one room in particular.
Your knuckles knocked lightly on the bedroom door, waiting for an answer. It creaked open just a few seconds later.
"Oh, Y/n. What are you doing here? Is everything alright?" Minho asked.
"Yeah. This might sound like a weird question, but is it alright if I stay with you tonight?"
His large eyes widened in surprise.
"Hongjoong and I aren't on good terms at the moment, which you already know, and I don't really want to share a room with him now."
"I understand." He nodded, stepping aside. "Come on in."
You volunteered to sleep on the floor, but Minho wouldn't allow it, offering you his bed. So, that's where you slept.
The ocean was rather choppy today, much like the situation you were currently in. The white-capped waves dominated the majority of the waters' surface, the ship lurching with each forceful push of the sea below, sending a spray of salt water up the side of the vessel.
"Alright men, all hands on deck!" Hongjoong instructed. "There's a storm coming in from the north."
"Yes, Captain." The crew responded.
You wanted to ask Hongjoong if he needed your help with anything, but the two of you were not on speaking terms at the moment, so you held your tongue.
"Man the sails!" Hongjoong shouted more commands, sternly.
He's absolutely deserving of being captain. Despite his small stature, he carried a very powerful and commanding presence, his aura almost threatening at times. However, at the end of the day, he was still the sweet Hongjoong you grew up with—well, up until recently. You said you would follow him to the ends of the earth. He was your best friend, after all. Now, you're not sure who he is.
Years ago, when the two of you had just recently turned 18, Hongjoong had this grand idea to escape.
"We're gonna get out of here." He told you.
"And go where?" You inquired.
"Anywhere. Everywhere." He answered, his eyes twinkling. "Sail the seas."
"You want to be a pirate?" You questioned.
"Yes! It would be so much fun. No rules, no nothing." He turned to you with a smile. "Will you join me?"
The excited gleam in his eye let you know how serious he was about this unattainable dream. Despite that, the idea of sailing the seas and living a rule-free pirate life thrilled you.
"Yes."
Look where that got you.
A loud boom of thunder rumbled in the ominous sky above, dark, menacing clouds swirled over the ocean. You stepped away from the railing, watching as the crew scurried across the deck, preparing for the storm brewing in the atmosphere.
Hongjoong was busying himself by barking orders at crew mates, rushing them along. He was unusually snappy today, no doubt because of your little fight yesterday.
"What are you doing?" He shouted, angrily. "Furl the mainsail! The storm is approaching!"
Truthfully, you were surprised he hadn't said anything to you about not sleeping in your own bed last night. Then again, maybe he didn't care.
A raindrop hit the top of your head, catching your attention. It didn't take long for the stray drops to turn into a torrential downpour. The rain came down in sheets, pounding on the deck, making puddles almost instantly.
You noticed Minho struggling with one of the masts, hurrying over to assist him.
"Thanks." He breathed.
A gust of wind blew by, whipping your hair in every direction.
"We should get inside!" Minho yelled over the howling winds.
You nodded in agreement as his hand found yours, leading you towards the crew's sleeping quarters to get out of the harsh winds and piercing rain.
Little did you know, Hongjoong was watching, his sharp eyes trained on yours and Minho's intertwined hands.
The ship made it out of the storm unscathed and went on its way to the small, unsuspecting town. Part of you had hoped the storm would somehow get the ship off-route and Hongjoong would be forced to ration supplies and hold off on the raid until you made it to the next town.
The pillaging went on as planned. Like all raids, the looting took place at night. Hongjoong always said it was better to do these things under the cover of darkness.
You stayed on the ship, of course, unable to join in on the raiding. Your conscience wouldn't let you. To your surprise, Minho stayed behind too. Like you, he couldn't bear to be a part of the merciless thievery that was taking place.
It didn't take long for the two of you to hear multiple pairs of booted feet thudding hurriedly against the main deck, followed by the sounds of heavy objects being set down. Your heart sank, knowing the raid was over and the town was left without many of their supplies. For the first time since stepping foot on this ship, you felt sick.
It didn't take long for the music and rhythmic stomping of feet to begin, letting you know the celebrations had already kicked off.
Minho's top lip curled in distaste as he stared in the direction of the main deck.
"I can't sit here and let them celebrate this heinous act." You muttered, pushing yourself to your feet.
You stormed up onto the main deck where Hongjoong was standing up on a cluster of crates, barrels, and burlap sacks dancing and celebrating.
"So you ended up raiding that town?" You inquired with crossed arms.
"Of course I did." He responded before turning to the crew. "And it was a raging success!"
The crew cheered with him, which only fueled your anger.
"I wouldn't call it a raging success if you're stealing from people who do good."
"It's not like we killed anyone." He rolled his eyes.
"No, but you left that town to suffer. The attack was unprovoked."
"Don't get your trousers in a wad, Y/n. We're pirates. We pillage and plunder, it's what we do." Hongjoong responded casually.
Your fists unconsciously clenched as you tried your hardest to bite back rage. Instead of opening your mouth and allowing your scathing words to escape, you whirled around and returned to Minho's room.
The door slammed shut behind you as the brown-haired male lifted his gaze, waiting for you to speak.
"Minho, can you keep a secret?"
In the dead of night while everyone was asleep and/or passed out from alcohol consumption, you snuck out onto the main deck with a small bag of your belongings, heading for the rowboat. You planned to escape the godforsaken ship that once felt like home. Minho, who knew about your plan of action, promised not to breathe a word of your whereabouts. He even offered to assist you.
Said pirate followed you outside and helped lower you into the water once you were inside the boat.
"Are you sure you wanna do this?" He questioned.
"I'm sure. Being captain has gotten to Hongjoong's head and after that little stunt he pulled earlier tonight, I can no longer stand by his side."
Minho nodded, somberly. "I understand. Good luck."
"Thank you."
The boat was lowered the rest of the way into the water and you began making your way towards the town. Equipped with just the necessities, you started your journey, using just a compass and a messy, hand-drawn copy of Hongjoong's map.
You didn't feel the slightest bit of remorse as you rowed further from the ship, watching as it got smaller and smaller. You didn't really care if Hongjoong knew you left. He made it very clear that he was the captain and what he says goes. It was painfully evident that he didn't need you anymore; if anything, you were doing him a favor. On the off chance that he did freak out in wake of your disappearance, you'd never know, nor would you care.
"Serves him right." You muttered.
To your surprise, it only took you the entirety of the night to arrive at the marauded town. Your arms were throbbing and you were in need of sleep, but were happy to have arrived at your destination. You used an old rope to tie your row boat to the dock before stepping out onto the landing.
The first thing you noticed about your surroundings was the stacks of crates and barrels that had been emptied and toppled over. The remnants of last night's pillaging was obvious and heartbreaking. You slowly made your way off the dock and into the town where you were met with more wreckage—it was horrible. The more you saw, the angrier you became, wanting nothing more than to curse Hongjoong up one side and down the other. Being on a pirate ship for so long, you managed to learn some insults you didn't even know existed and you wanted to use every single one on Kim Hongjoong.
People were trying to clean up the aftermath of the pillaging from the previous night, doing their best to put the town back together. You spotted a nearby hostel, a middle-aged woman crouched on the ground outside, attempting to tidy up the small flowerbed that looked as if it had been trampled on.
"Excuse me." You called out, gently.
The woman lifted her head. "Oh, hello. Can I help you?"
"I was wondering if you had any vacancies."
"As a matter of fact, I do." She smiled, softly, dusting her hands off on her apron. "You look like you need a good night's rest. Have you traveled far?"
"All night." You responded.
"I'll get you checked in right away. Follow me." You trailed behind the woman as she entered the house, going behind the front counter. "Sorry. We're a little short-staffed. There was a pirate pillaging last night. All but one of my employees quit—and he can't quit because he's my son. That sort of thing just doesn't happen here, so it really scared the workers."
"If you need help, I'd be happy to lend a hand." You told her.
"No, dear. You need rest."
"It's fine." You brushed it off. "It's daytime anyway. It's best I stay up."
"Are you sure, dear?"
"Of course. It seems like you could really use the extra help."
"If you insist. I won't turn down someone who's so willing to lend a helping hand. I'll show you to your room and bring you some working clothes."
"Great." You smiled, following her to the room you'd be staying in.
It was small, cozy, and equipped with only the necessities.
"So, what's your name?" She asked as you looked around the room.
"Y/n." You answered.
"That's a lovely name. You can call me Mrs. Park."
"Well, Mrs. Park, I'd like to stay here for a few days. How much do I owe you for it?" You asked, turning to her.
"Free of charge."
"I can pay for it. It's fine." You insisted.
Mrs. Park held her hand up to stop you.
"You're doing me a huge favor by offering to help me out. It's the least I can do."
"Well, thank you. I appreciate it."
"Like I said, it's the least I can do. We have running water. If you'd like, you can go wash up and I'll bring you a change of clothes and an apron. Then, we can get started on the work."
You didn't bring a lot with you, so getting settled wasn't a problem at all. You did take advantage of the running water Mrs. Park told you about. Being at sea, you haven't had access to clean water, therefore you've not been able to properly bathe. The closest you got to a bath was a quick dip in the ocean with a bar of soap. Shampoo, conditioner, and soap was provided for you, which you were immensely thankful for.
You felt rejuvenated after your bath. In fact, you felt like a whole new new person.
After stepping out of the bathroom, you spotted a neatly folded stack of clothes on your bed.
Normally, you'd wear a large, cream-colored shirt with ruffled sleeves tucked into a pair or trousers and black boots. The clothes Mrs. Park had provided you with contrasted greatly with your usual attire. In your hands was a long, navy-colored dress that laced up in the back, the garment made with thick material, as well as an apron to wear over the dress. As a pirate, you never wore dresses. They weren't really your thing, anyway. However, you were trying to start a new life, and that new life required you to wear the dress in your hands, so you put it on.
You were surprised by your reflection, hardly recognizing the person staring back. Your hair, which had started to dry, was fluffy and bouncy. The outfit was different, but you didn't hate it. You would have preferred pants, but you were willing to compromise since you had a place to stay.
Not wanting to waste too much time, you headed to the lobby.
"Mrs. Park, I'm ready to get started."
"Y/n?" Hongjoong called out.
He hadn't seen you all day. He was still a bit upset with you for the way you reacted the other day as well as last night, but when he didn't see you, not even with Minho, he began to worry.
"Y/n!" He called out again much louder, hurrying across the deck. "Has anyone seen Y/n?"
No answer.
In a panic, he peered over the side of the ship, noticing the row boat was gone. His head snapped towards the sails where Minho was standing.
"Minho!" He shouted, stomping over to the man. "Where is she?"
Minho didn't even spare a glance at Hongjoong and continued straightening out the rigging.
"I'm sure she's around here somewhere." He responded, nonchalantly.
"Don't make me ask again."
"I don't know where she is."
"Stop lying. I know the two of you have been spending time together. Where is she?"
"Away from you." Minho responded, his tone becoming snappy.
Hongjoong reached for his cutlass, pulling it from its sheath and pointing it at Minho's neck.
"Tell me where Y/n is." He demanded.
"You're the captain, you're smart. Why don't you figure it out?"
Hongjoong's jaw clenched, his patience being pushed to its limits. Then, suddenly, it clicked. You had to have gone to that town.
Hongjoong put his cutlass back in its sheath and turned around on his heel.
"We're changing course!" He announced. "I know where Y/n is. We're going to get her."
Working at the small hostel was wonderful. You found that you enjoyed it very much. Unlike life on Hongjoong's ship where you did the same thing every day, you did something different each day here. It was a nice change.
The day you arrived at the town, you were introduced to Mrs. Park's son, Seonghwa. He normally took care of washing the sheets and putting the beds back together. Sometimes he helped out in the kitchen and cooked meals for the residents. Now that all of the staff members had quit, he had to take up most of the slack. The two of you got along well and it made working at the hostel a lot more fun.
Mrs. Park had sent you and Seonghwa to the market to get some things she had run out of. She rushed the two of you out the door, going on about how dire it was that she get these items. She wanted to make a cake for you, which she had mentioned was her specialty, so getting the ingredients was very important.
"Alright. Eggs, flour, and sugar." You read off the list. "We got the sugar. Just a couple more things and we're good to go."
You picked up a small sack of flour and put it into the basket Seonghwa had tossed over his arm. That was the system. You grabbed the groceries, Seonghwa carried them.
"My mom really appreciates your help. When those pirates came though and everyone quit, she was really scared. She didn't know how she'd be able to take care of the place."
"Seems like I showed up at the right time."
"You did." He nodded with a smile. "I know it's only been a week, but things are starting to get back to normal, I think. Everyone seems to have recovered. I just hope it doesn't happen again."
"Me too." You responded, picking up a carton of eggs.
Unbeknownst go you, Hongjoong's ship had just docked at the town and the captain was making his way down the wharf.
You had just paid the cashier for the groceries and were headed back to the hostel when suddenly your wrist was grabbed and you were pulled away from Seonghwa into a small alley between two buildings. You jerked in the person's grip, trying to break free until you saw their face.
"What are you doing here?" You spat.
"What are you doing here?" Hongjoong turned the question back to you. "And what in the seven seas are you wearing?"
"I'm helping, and if you must know, this is the uniform I was given."
"Uniform?" He repeated, his face twisted in distaste.
"I'm working at a small hostel. Did you know all of the staff quit after your little rampage?"
You could see Hongjoong's eyes soften for a moment before he quickly covered it up.
"Why did you even come looking for me?" You questioned, harshly.
"You're part of my crew."
"Is that all I am to you? Just a crew member?"
"No."
"Well, that's what it feels like. Now if you'll excuse me, I have somewhere to be."
You started to walk away when Hongjoong grabbed you again.
"No you don't. You're coming back with me."
"I'm staying here."
"You don't have a choice, Y/n."
You jerked your arm away. "I do, and I choose to stay. You obviously don't need me back on that ship. You wasted your time coming back for me."
"You're wrong. I need you."
"You don't. You're the captain, remember? You make the decisions yourself. You don't need me to tell you what to do because in the end, you'll do what you want."
He opened his mouth to speak, but you continued.
"This whole captain thing has gone to your head. What happened to the Hongjoong I used to know?"
"I'm still the same Hongjoong."
"No, you're not. You've changed."
That's the last thing you said before walking back to Seonghwa, who was standing in the middle of the street with his mouth hanging open, his face as white as a sheet.
"Let's go." You grabbed his arm, pulling him in the direction of the hostel.
"D-do you know him?" Seonghwa asked, his head turned to stare at Hongjoong.
"I used to."
"He's the captain of the pirate crew that looted our town."
"I know."
"What?"
"It's a long story."
"If you're with him, then—"
"I'm not with him. I ran away. He wanted to pillage your town and I told him not to because this town is so selfless, but he didn't listen, so I left the ship."
"You're a pirate?" Seonghwa gaped.
"Yes."
"Is he going to take you back?"
"He's trying to."
Once you got back to the hostel, you gave Mrs. Park the items she asked for and hurried to your room, Seonghwa following behind.
"What are you going to do?" He asked.
"I don't know." You muttered, pacing back and forth. "I didn't know he'd come looking for me."
Just then, a loud thump came from the somewhere downstairs. You and Seonghwa shared a wide-eyed look before hurrying to the door. You peered over the shallow staircase and spotted Hongjoong at the front desk.
"You wouldn't happen to how a Y/n, would you?" He asked.
"No." Mrs. Park lied.
"I know she's here." Hongjoong spat.c"Where's her room?"
"Crap." You whispered, retreating to your bedroom where you frantically began packing your things.
"What are you doing? Where are you going?" Seonghwa questioned.
"I don't know. Away from here."
The dress you wore was restricting you immensely, making it hard for you to move around.
"I hate this thing." You grumbled.
"I have an idea. I'll go distract him while you change and make your escape."
You gave him a nod and gathered the clothes you arrived in, which had so generously been washed by Mrs. Park.
While Seonghwa was downstairs stalling, you quickly stripped off the confining dress, changing into your comfortable pirate attire. Not wanting to leave things in a mess, you hastily folded the dress and apron, lying it on the bed before you snuck out the window.
"You!" Hongjoong pointed when Seonghwa appeared downstairs. "Tell me where Y/n is."
"She's not here."
"Yes she is. Where are you hiding her?" He pressed.
"I already told you. She's not here."
Hongjoong's lip curled into a snarl as realization struck him. He then rushed out the front entrance, turning the corner to catch you just as your feet landed on the ground.
You were relived, feeling like you had successfully made your escape.
"You didn't think you could get away from me that easily, did you?"
Your heart sank.
Hongjoong grabbed you, pulling you out into the streets, yanking you towards the docks. You jerked and writhed in his grip, shouting at him to let go, but he wouldn't listen. Your heels dug into the dirt as you tried to stop Hongjoong, but it didn't work. His grip on you was too strong.
Seonghwa, who rushed out after Hongjoong, spotted him as he pulled you through town.
No one dared to help. It was obvious the townspeople recognized Hongjoong from the pillaging a week prior. They wouldn't dare try and stand up to him.
"I hate you!" You spat.
"I could care less about your feelings towards me."
"Clearly you do. If you didn't care that I was mad at you, you wouldn't have come looking for me."
His hand tightened around your wrist, which let you know you struck a nerve.
"Let go of me." You hissed.
"Not until we're back on the ship."
"Hey!" Someone cut in.
Hongjoong stopped in his tracks, turning to see who had shouted at him. You turned as well, gasping when you saw Seonghwa standing on the dock a few feet behind you.
"Let her go."
"And who do you think you are?"
"Her friend."
Hongjoong scoffed. "You've only known her for a week. You're not her friend. I'm her friend."
"Really? It doesn't look like it."
Hongjoong used his free hand to pull out his pistol, pointing it at Seonghwa.
"Stay out of our business before I put a bullet in your head."
"Hongjoong!" You snapped, pushing the barrel down. "What is wrong with you?"
He gave you a sharp glare before you turned to the man attempting to save you.
"Seonghwa." You placed your free hand on his shoulder. "I need to go."
"What?" He asked in disbelief. "You're going back?"
"I have to. There's things that need to be dealt with."
Seonghwa gave Hongjoong a skeptical look.
"It's not what you want, though."
"It's what needs to be done. Tell your mom I'm glad I could help her out, but that I needed to go. Good luck with your business."
Seonghwa gave you a sad look, but nodded in understanding.
As soon as Hongjoong had you back on the ship, he let you go, beginning to bark orders at the crew.
"Let's get out of here!"
While he was distracted, you hurried off, searching for Minho. You hadn't seen him on the deck, so you thought he was in his room.
You burst into his bedroom, but he was nowhere to be seen. After searching different areas of the ship, you found him in the galley, cleaning the tables.
"Minho!"
"Y/n. You're back." He responded, seeming surprised.
"Not by choice."
"Well, just because you're being forced to stay on this ship, doesn't mean you should be forced to be around Hongjoong. You can stay in my room if you want to."
"Thank you. What are you doing down here?"
"Hongjoong put me on kitchen duty when I refused to tell him where you were."
"I'm so sorry."
"It's fine. I don't mind cleaning up down here."
"Well, I appreciate that you kept my secret and tried to protect me." You smiled, giving him a light hug.
Just then, Hongjoong burst into the galley.
"I look away for two seconds and you've run off again. Now I find you hanging all over him."
He stormed over, grabbing your upper arm.
"Come here. We have some talking to do."
"Let go of her." Minho snapped. "You've forced her back on this ship. That should be enough."
"I'll deal with you later." Hongjoong pointed, pulling you out of the room.
You shouted at him as he dragged you all the way to the captain's quarters, calling him every name you could think of. Even when he released your arm, you continued ranting and raving.
"I can't even explain how angry I am right now!"
The door was then locked shut, causing you to spin around, abruptly. Hongjoong stood a few feet from you, his eyes dark as they stared into yours.
"Don't look at me like that. You have no right to be acting this w—"
You were cut off as Hongjoong pressed you against the door, his arms trapping you.
"I have every right to be acting this way. You're mine, remember?"
"I'm no one's."
You had barely gotten the sentence out of your mouth when his lips pressed harshly against yours. You had no time to react and were left frozen in place, your mind scrambling to make sense of what was going on.
Your eyes unconsciously fluttered closed as you allowed yourself to give in momentarily.
Hongjoong kissed you hungrily, letting out small growls that vibrated against your lips. You wanted so desperately to push him away. Your mind screamed at you to do so, but you couldn't. He had your mind in such a fog you couldn't seem to care what was wrong and what was right. Hongjoong's head tilted to the side, allowing his mouth to fit more closely with yours.
This is not right. This is not right.
Your senses finally kicked in and you pulled away, your hand making contact with Hongjoong's cheek as a resounding smack filled the air.
"What's wrong with you?"
Hongjoong placed a hand on his stinging cheek as he took a step back, a mildly shocked expression on his face.
"You got mad that I ran away, chased me down, acted like the biggest jerk ever, then all of a sudden you just kiss me?" You questioned. "What did you think that was gonna do?"
"I..." He trailed off.
"If you thought I would confess my love to you and forgive you, you're wrong. I don't love you. I love the old Hongjoong. The one who isn't this." You said, gesturing to him. "Just so you know, I'm sleeping in Minho's room tonight. If you need me, that's where I'll be." You told him, turning to leave.
"Wait." Hongjoong took hold of your wrist, this time much more softly, almost pleading. "Don't go."
You gave him an expectant look, waiting to see what he had to say. Though he was being a pompous jerk, he was still your friend and you were willing to hear him out.
"I'm sorry. I don't know what's gotten into me lately. You're right. This whole captain thing has gotten to my head. Being a pirate and being in charge of everyone made me feel like I could take whatever I wanted, that included you."
He paused, collecting his thoughts before continuing.
"The truth is, I love you—yes, I said love. Before you and I started this journey together I liked you, but over the years that turned into something more. My feelings for you combined with my sudden superiority complex made me think you belonged to me. In reality, I just couldn't stand the thought of not seeing you again. It made my chest hurt."
Your gaze softened a bit.
Truthfully, you'd held some feelings for Hongjoong. Though, you tried to bury them, they were slowly resurfacing after his heartfelt confession.
"I had no reason to go after you like that. I should have just let you stay. You were right. You don't belong to me." He added.
That's all it took.
You grabbed his collar, pulling him forward and swiftly placing your lips on his. Hongjoong's words meant a lot to you and you were more than willing to forgive him.
He was stiff at first, not expecting you to initiate the kiss. Then, once he registered what was happening he started to reciprocate, kissing you with just as much hunger and ferocity as he was minutes earlier. There was so much passion and desperation in the kiss that it left you breathless. One of his hands made it's way to your waist while the other rested on your upper back, pulling you closer to him. His lips fully encased yours a few times before taking your bottom lips between his teeth. You were blown away by his kissing skills, your mind and body turning to mush.
When he parted ways, you found yourself gasping for breath, your chest heaving up and down. You didn't get a lot of time to relax as Hongjoong began leaving open-mouth kisses down your neck. Your breath caught in your throat as your fingers tangled themselves in Hongjoong's tousled mullet, grabbing at the long strands. Small gasps left you when his teeth grazed your skin. You never thought he would be so bold, but you weren't complaining at all.
Hongjoong pulled away, his eyes glazed over as he stared into your own. His lips were puffy from the intense makeout session and his cheeks were flushed—and this time it wasn't from alcohol.
"Don't ever run away from me again." He murmured hoarsely, his thumb running over your bottom lip.
"Don't do anything stupid and I won't."
He let out a short chuckle. "I promise. I also wanna say that I'm sorry for looting that town. I should have listened to you. I'll do whatever it takes to make it up to you."
"Whatever it takes?" You questioned.
He nodded.
"Well, there is one thing."
Hongjoong returned the stolen items to the small town, apologizing for his actions. He continuously said he wasn't the type of person to do such horrible things and that he hopes the townspeople could forgive him.
Being the selfless people they were, the citizens forgave Hongjoong and even allowed him to keep some of the things he and the crew had looted. It was just enough supplies to last everyone until they got to another town. Mrs. Park and Seonghwa were happy to see you and understood that, while you had a good time staying in the town, your true home was at sea with Hongjoong. Mrs. Park even gave you her specialty cake as a parting gift.
"I baked it after you left." She told you.
"Don't you want to save some of this for yourself?"
"No." She shook her head. "You take it. Share it with the crew and that headstrong captain of yours."
You chuckled at her choice of adjective.
"He wasn't always so headstrong." You commented, glancing across the way at Hongjoong as he chatted with one of the townspeople. "That's why I'm here to be his voice of reason."
"Good." Mrs. Park smiled. "A man like him needs a strong woman by his side to keep him in check."
You chuckled lightly in response.
"Hey." Hongjoong cut in as he approached, snaking an arm around your waist. "We should get going."
You gave Seonghwa and Mrs. Park a bittersweet smile. "Thank you both for all the fond memories and giving me somewhat of a vacation."
"You're welcome." Seonghwa grinned.
"Come back anytime, dear." Mrs. Park smiled warmly.
With that, everyone boarded the ship and set sail once again.
"Mrs. Park gave me a cake." You smiled, showing Hongjoong. "It's her specialty."
"Looks good. Why don't we try it out?"
"It's to share with the crew." You told him, pulling it away.
"I'll share." Hongjoong responded with pleading eyes.
"I'll make sure you do."
"Hey." He piped up. "You know what goes good with cake?"
"What?"
"A party!"
For the first time in months, a party actually sounded fun.
Sour notes traveled through the night air as the crew sang out of tune. The celebration had just kicked off, so you knew the unpleasant singing wasn't from alcohol, though you expected it to get worse as the night went on.
Even Minho joined in on the celebrating, singing along with the crew and dancing around.
You sat alone on the forecastle deck watching the stars, the garbled singing once again becoming background noise.
The gentle thump of boots approaching caught you attention. You turned your head just as Hongjoong sat down next to you.
"What are you doing up here all alone? The party's not boring, is it?"
"No. I just wanted to watch the stars."
"Well, I brought you a slice of cake."
"Ah. Thank you." You smiled, taking the small plate from him. "What about you?"
"I thought we could share it." He responded, a smirk playing at the corner of his lips.
You tried to hold back a grin as he took the fork, getting a small bite of cake, bringing it to your lips.
You allowed Hongjoong to feed you, your eyes widening once you tasted the sweet treat.
"Mrs. Park was right. This is definitely her specialty." You commented.
"Wait." Hongjoong reached out, his fingers delicately holding your chin, turning you towards him. "You have something on you."
You didn't have time to respond as Hongjoong leaned in, pressing his lips to yours, his tongue swiping over your bottom lip, sending a rush of heat across your face.
He parted ways, letting out a chuckle as he licked his lips. "Got it."
You playfully smacked his shoulder, turning away in embarrassment.
"I can't believe you did that."
"But you liked it."
"A little." You responded, shyly.
"Oh. I almost forgot." He muttered, getting to his feet. "Wait here."
Hongjoong hurried off, returning moments later.
"Look what I got." He held up a bottle. "I told you I'd get us some fine wine."
"Where'd you get it?"
"Someone in that town gave it to me. He said it's meant to be shared with someone you love and then gestured to you." He chuckled. "I don't know how he knew we were together, but I have wine because of it."
"What are you waiting for? Let's open it."
"You don't have to tell me twice."
He popped the cork on the bottle, handing it to you. "M'lady." He offered.
You gladly took the bottle, taking a sip and humming in approval before handing it to him.
Your head rested on his shoulder as he took a large gulp of alcohol, setting the bottle on the deck.
"I love you, Hongjoong."
The words unconsciously slipped out, but you didn't care. Hongjoong's head rested on top of yours as he responded.
"I love you too, Y/n."
“Why are you acting so weird?”
“I’m not acting weird.”
“Yes you are.”
“I’m n- Lo’ak. What are you talking about?” Your hand drops from his face, halting your decoration of his face to match the markings he had adorned your face with. You fix him with a questioning gaze, urging him to go on, even though you already knew what he meant.
“Look, you’ve been acting strange ever since-“His eyes dart across the tent, ears flattening against his head as he looks to Spider for support and receives only a shaken head in response. “Fine, you’ve been weird ever since you and Neteyam got stuck in that cave. And it’s not just me that thinks so, Kiri agrees. Dad even said you seemed upset when they got you out. I just thought something might have happened in there?"
You sigh and turn to look at Spider, who’s trying desperately to look uninterested in the conversation as he prepares the paint for his own blue markings. It was good he was there; you had been prepared for this conversation, felt the Sully’s concerned eyes on you every time you declined a dinner invite or rushed off after clan meetings. And as much as you had believed it would be best to keep it from Lo’ak, sharing what his brother had told you about Ralu would hopefully stem any further questions about your attitude.
“Lo’ak, before we got trapped, Neteyam told me that Ralu had been discussing our activities with him and other warriors in the clan.” Your tail curls around your middle, the topic still stings, as much as it had been lapped twice over by the hurt caused by your dalliance with Neteyam. “He didn’t have anything kind to say about me it seems. Right Spider?” You add, looking to the human for back up.
“Yeah bro, I was there. The guys a dick.” Spider confirms, his eyes flashing with the same annoyance that he had displayed the next day when he’d tried to insist on confronting the hunter and you’d had to talk him down and make him promise not to share any of it with Lo’ak. The rage in Lo’ak’s eyes told you that it had been the right call.
“I’m going to kill him.”
“No, you’re not.” You laugh, placing a hand on his shoulder to stop his attempt to stand. After all, you’d be left without a flying partner for the days raid if Lo’ak were to follow through with his threats. You were sure if you approached Jake to ask to be paired up with another warrior, he would oblige, but you could not bring yourself to explain to the man who had been like a father to you why you didn’t want to work with Ralu. “Bro, it’s fine. You know I don’t need you to fight for me, I can fight my own battles. And I am okay now.”
Lo’ak seemed to accept that, with a few grumbled expletives directed towards the taronyu. You breathed a sigh of relief as you dipped your fingers back into the paint, sweeping a stripe along Lo’ak’s cheekbone, careful to steady your shaking hands.
Tumblr media
The wind whipped against your cheeks as you weaved through the mountains, eyes finding your target. The barrelling metal vehicle Jake had called a ‘train’ wasflanked by two gunships. You hear Jake call out for the ground team to go ahead and you send a parting salute to your left, to Lo’ak, and follow closely behind Neytiri.
The first explosion is devastating. It throws the train from the tracks, flipping it over as its path is encompassed with flames. It’s almost beautiful, to see the Sky People’s creations alight as forest had been when they razed the ground to build their city of metal. The airships soon follow, dispatched by Jake and Neytiri, meeting the ground with more flames and destruction. You raise your arms, meeting Neytiri’s victory cries with your own.
“Kllkä Anì.” You guide your Ikran through your bond and descend to the ground, Ralu settling down beside you. Sliding from your mount, you sever the bond and give her a gentle pat to the flank. ‘Let’s go. Two minutes, let’s go.’ Jake’s voice rang through your ear, urging you forward. You tilt your head to Ralu to follow along.
No sooner than you reach Norm is a case of human weaponry thrust into your arms. “Go, get out of here kid.” Norm had been about as happy as Jake was to let you partake in the raids. It was just as common for you to burst into Hells Gate with Spider as a child as it was for you to invade the Sully’s home and Norm had become a constant in your life. But there had been no grounds to deny you, the same argument had been made by Lo’ak and Neteyam. You had all passed your uniltaron and been accepted as one of the people and you would fight for your people.
You reach Anì with your spoils and get to work tying them to her saddle, preparing to follow Norm’s orders and Jake’s earlier commands to grab what you can and “Haul ass out of there.”
“Lo’ak!” and the cheers that followed were unmistakable. You turn, delaying your departure to locate the voices of the two brothers, unsurprised at the sight you found. Lo’ak stood brandishing a gun and even out of earshot, you could tell Neteyam was scolding him by the tension in his shoulders and the deep set scowl on his face. Rolling your eyes, you finish tying off the leather straps that secure the case.
You have Anì’s kuru in hand, ready to make Tsaheylu when you hear Jake’s voice booming in your ear. “Gunships inbound, fall back!” Pulling yourself up onto her back, you hear Ralu’s voice, an urgent call of your name and a demand to hurry. But your attention is drawn by the projectiles you see the ship release and the direction they take. How they land where you had seen the Sully brothers stood just moments before.
As smoke and flame fills your vision, your mind cannot will your body to leave. They weren’t there. They heard their fathers voice the same as you had, they had fled. You tell yourself that as you slide down from your Ikran and run towards destruction.
“Lo’ak!” Your cries for your friend go unanswered, your throat tightening as you repeat the calls and they continue to go unanswered.
Until you recognise one of the bodies on the ground.
“No. No. No. No.” His body is face down, unmoving and your heart skips several beats before you scramble over the rock separating you. “’Teyam?” You roll him over, hands reaching to grasp his face. The tension in your throat releases when his eyes blink open and he lets out a groan of pain.
“Y/n?”
His eyes meet yours and you realize how close your faces are as you hover over his body. You don’t move, finding it hard to tell your body to let go when moments before you’d believed he was gone. Heart pounding against your chest you squeeze your eyes shut, a shaken breath in turning into a steady exhale. You didn’t have time for this. The gunship was sure to not be the only one and you had to figure out how you would get you and Neteyam to your ikran and you couldn’t even think of Lo’ak. You prayed he’d gotten himself to safety.
“Neteyam!”
“Jake! We’re here. I have him!” You pull away from Neteyam, standing to direct Jake to your location. Jake clambers over the metal debris, hands finding your shoulders as he observes you for any injuries. “I’m fine, but Lo’ak I couldn’t-“
“He’s safe. Get out of here.”
Your shoulders sag as he releases you from his hold, moving towards his eldest son. Lo’ak was safe. Neteyam was safe, or at least he would be once his father got him out of there. Jake barks another command to leave at you and you purse your lips ready to call for Anì, who settles beside you before you can even release a sound. She had been waiting for you, your loyal sister. You make Tsaheylu and feel her worry through the bond, soon soothed by the connection and the reassurance that you are safe.
Climbing onto her back, you spare one last glance at the Sullys, seeing Jake lift Neteyam over his shoulder before you take to the sky. Your chest heaves and the dam breaks, allowing the tears loose to stream down your face. “Stop.” You tell yourself, swiping a hand across your cheek, hand coming away damp with paint and tears.
Tumblr media
Your head is pounding as you slump back to you Marui, unsure if it was the explosions or Jake’s lecture that had done more damage. You knew better than to argue when placed in a line up with the Sully boys as Jake demanded to know why the three of you were anywhere near the train car when the missile hit, when he’d given clear orders to be in and out of there as soon as you’d grabbed supplies. You knew better than to point out that you hadn’t been anywhere near the explosion.
You’d found your escape when Jake noticed the scrapes you’d acquired in your search for his sons and sent you to the Tsahìk to get them looked at. You had debated arguing then, your injuries were insignificant compared to Neteyam’s who had been forced to stay behind. His father was still not finished expressing his disappointment in him. But you didn’t. With the adrenaline of war dying off, you couldn’t look at him without recalling the last moments you’d spent together before today and decided that you weren’t upset at the idea of him suffering for a little longer.
“Come here ma ‘ite.” Your mother’s comforting voice greets you and you fall into her welcoming arms.
It was hard on your mother, that you had chosen to follow in your fathers footsteps. You knew this, though she never complained or tried to dissuade you from what you’d declared as your path as a child. Instead, she would greet you on return with open arms, a meal and a bowl of warm water to wash yourself.
She holds you at arm’s length, eyes falling to your legs that were smeared in the healing paste not so gently applied by the Tsahìk. Worry lines that hadn’t existed a only a year ago sullied her skin, before your father returned to Eywa and you committed yourself to this war. If it was even possible, it made you hate the Sky People even more.
“Sa’nu, I am well. It’s just a few scratches, they won’t even scar.” Your reassurances do little to dim the concern in her eyes. “You should go assist the Tsahìk, there’s many wounded.”
She nods, your sweet mother, and allows you to remove yourself from her grasp. The last thing you want is to be coddled right now, as much as the warmth of her arms is inviting, you want nothing more than to end this day and find peace in slumber. So she leaves you, departing with a kiss pressed to your forehead and a strained smile.
The water she set aside for you smelled sweet and soothed your sore eyes as you scooped a handful to rub the paint from your face in a haste to remove it. It was the symbol of a warrior and you felt more like a scared little girl. Pathetic. You had never cried after a battle, not even as you watched clan member after clan member be laid to rest. It was something every warrior knew possible and accepted when going to war. So why had you cried until you had no more tears left to give?
The water has turned a murky orange by the time you are happy that your skin is free from any undeserved adornments.
“Y/N?”
The voice calls from outside the Marui and your heart skips a beat. Neteyam was the last visitor you expected to receive. For a moment you consider pretending you are not home, but the candlelight was a dead giveaway. You didn’t know if you had it in you to take whatever he had to throw at you tonight, a lecture you were sure, an echo of his fathers insistence that you should not have disobeyed orders. Not when today had been the first time he’d spared you a glance since the night by the lab and he’d had little choice in the matter with your face inches away from his own.
“What do you want Neteyam?”
His face appears around the flap of the tent, brows raised in question which you answered with a nod. He enters your home, his toned form covered in the same paste that Mo’at had applied to your own wounds. Good, that shit stung.
You stare for far too long and he notices, a smile spreading across his face that has you turning to grab for a cloth to dry your face for an excuse to hide your face and the heat rushing to your cheeks. He still hasn’t spoken when you uncover your face, watching you with an unreadable expression.
“Why are you here?” You ask, and you hate how desperate you sound but you can’t do this with him again. Whatever fight you had left to give to this war between you and him, he had taken from you at the lab.
“I came to check if you were okay.”
“Are you being serious?” The laugh that you let out is bitter and catches in your throat and his ears drop at the sound.
“Yes, you were hurt.” He gestured to your legs before his eyes meet yours. You know they must be red and bloodshot, the water had done little to stem the irritation. “And you seem upset Tìyawn.”
The word falls from his tongue like it’s nothing, but to you it’s like a maktoyu to their ikran.
“I seem upset? Did you notice that yourself, Neteyam? Or did someone have to point it out to you? I find it hard to believe that you’d have any chance of noticing when you haven’t even looked my way, or spoken a word to me since you abandoned me. After something you started. And you claim to be a better man than Ralu, but he didn’t abandon me as soon as he was finished with me.” You curse yourself for the tears that prick at the corner of your eyes, how did you even have anything left? “Eywa, just tell me what I did to make you hate me this much because it must have been truly awful for you to want to cause me this much pain.”
“I don’t hate you.”
“You’ve hated me since we were children, you have made that very clear.”
He crosses the tent, the impulse to step back quelled by your will to stand your ground. He does nothing more than hold onto your arms, his touch gentle but firm.
“Do you know what my dad said to me back there?” His jaw clenches, fingers tightening around your arms for a moment before they relax, and his hands gently run up and down your arms as if wiping away his grip. “I’m the older brother. It’s my responsibility to take care of my siblings and I am fine with that. It’s my duty. But you… You became my responsibility too, and you didn’t make it easy. You and Lo’ak dragging each other into so much trouble. I think I resented you for that for a long time.”
“We were just kids Neteyam.” You shake your head, his perception of your childhood far different from your own. You’d always looked up to him, the mighty fisherman Neteyam who seemed to excel at everything he did. Your first years spent clung to him until his dismissal of you dulled your admiration for the boy. “And I’m not your responsibility anymore.”
“No, you’re not.”
“So why are you here?”
“To apologise.” His hands drop from your arms, a hand intertwining with yours, fingers idly playing with your own. It sends a shiver down your spine and you pull your hand back, not allowing yourself to get pulled back in.
“Did your mother send you again?” He laughs at that, fangs poking at his bottom lip as he shakes his head.
“I deserve that.” He steps closer, bringing a hand up to your face to cup your cheek. You have no choice but to look him in the eyes, his face only inches from yours of his doing this time. “I am sorry. What I did at the lab, it was wrong. I should not have left you like that.”
Your breath hitches and there’s nothing more you can do to stop the tears that fall as a sob that rips through your chest. The emotions of the past few weeks, of everything he’d put you through, the bruises, the abandonment, his body lain lifeless as you found it all coming tearing from your body as he pulls you into his chest.
“Mawey Tìyawn. Mawey.”
DAY 2: Echo NSFW Prompt "Aroused by their voice"
Author's note: Is this late? Yes. But it was still inspired by that prompt, so credit is due. Please, accept my humble story. I wanted to try something, and it got... complicated (for me). I had never written dirty talk before, but I think I managed to get it where I wanted. -sunset
“412 traffic, F-17, inbound for landing.”
The voice crackled through the communication system in your small office, and you jumped from your seat before Wina could get to it.
“Here 412 traffic, landing pad is clear,” you breathed out in your smoothest voice possible, while Wina tried to take away the mic from you. You were not scared about using a little bit of violence when necessary, so you smashed your hand on her face to keep her away. You were scared of stabbing your fingers with her Zabrak horns, though, and probably stop it and give me the mic filtered through the waves.
“Wonderful,” the voice on the radio answered, and you were able to discern the smile that would be probably accompanying the word. You melted a little, as usual.
With a little trepidation, you tried to calm your heart and prepared yourself to make the conversation as long as possible. You even pretended to be confident enough to use the name you have learned from your interactions.
“How is everything, Echo? Any problems? Do you need me to send some droids there to fix the ship?”
“No, no, we had no trouble out there, don’t worry. You are always so thoughtful, thank you, Fourtwelve.”
“My pleasure, Echo.” Seeing that you were not budging, Wina finally gave up and moved away. She shouldn’t even be in your office, in the first place, she was just nosey. You turned your whole body towards the comm, triumphantly. “You sure you don’t want— I mean, any of you need something else? I could come down there and take you some rations.”
You grimaced inwardly at the hint of desperation in your voice. When the signal came back, a hint of a chuckle could be heard in the background, and you felt your cheeks grow hot.
“Shh, I said!— Uh, I don't, no, no, really. You are an angel, but there’s no need for that.” Someone shouted coward in the background. “But I appreciate it, really, I do. Thank you, Fourtwelve. Over.”
The static felt like a slap in the face. You slumped into the chair and let out a heavy sigh. It has been the shortest conversation since the first one, and the disappointment sat heavy on your chest.
“I wanted to talk to some men, and you had to ruin it. You get strangely overprotective with that clone.”
You turned your chair to face the intruder in the room and frowned at her. “This is my job, if you want to talk with men, go to a bar. Besides, I’m not overprotective about anyone! It’s just that the last time you handled the comms, you made such a lascivious pun that I still have second hand embarrassment every time I think about it.”
“Pft, whatever. You need to relax, this is not even a real job. You don’t know how to have fun, I’ll entertain myself somewhere else.”
You didn’t make any more comments as Wina turned around and left the room. She was extremely annoying, in a rage you stood up and locked the door in case she decided to come back. You were more at ease by yourself, which, even if sounded hypocritical, usually allowed you to talk with some men. A man in particular, actually. But Echo had already commed, he would probably be on his way to a canteen with his brothers, and you didn’t have the chance to speak with him this time.
Echo. You were still giddy at actually knowing his name. It had all started a month or so ago. You were a volunteer in a group that was trying to give clones a chance after they were discarded by the newly founded Empire. It started as something simple, but as time passed, and the Empire started showing their true face, the operation became quite daring and secretive. It was almost like one of those holonovels, about rebels, and freedom fighters on the frontiers, fighting evil by day and having torrid romances by night. In reality, though, your job was pretty dull. You were basically a receptionist; you took messages, managed the landings of your allotted small Coruscant hangar, and occasionally dispatched droids if they were needed. Someone had to do it, though.
One uneventful night, a new voice came over your comms. Well. Not new-new. You had heard that same voice thousands of times, but this one had something that made it stand over the others. It was huskier, angrier. It made you wonder what his owner had witnessed to be so angry at the galaxy, but at the same time speak such soft words to you. You had timidly inquired him and Echo had actually told you some stories from his past, a short version at least, you had no doubt there was more to it. He had told you about his lost brothers and being the last one of his batch, about being imprisoned and then rescued by new brothers, and even how he had adapted to being a cyborg.
He also asked about you, if out of politeness or legit interest, you didn’t know, so you had told him the basics, very, very quickly. You preferred when it was him doing the talking. You were in awe at what he had lived through, but to your shame, you couldn’t help the other reaction you had at his stories. Truth was that he could have read you the Communication System Manual, and it would have turned you on all the same. His voice was like spice to you, the more you listen to it, the more you wanted. You had never tried one, but you had to guess this was what trying on aphrodisiacs felt like. You craved it, you wanted to have it whispered in your ear late at night, his naked skin on yours, and his hand exploring your body, while those angry tones melted away into sweet moans.
The static did scare you this time, and you took away your traitorous wandering hand from your thigh. Not the time to indulge in wildly inappropriate fantasies, not that it would be the first time. Since nothing else seemed to come from the other side, you tried to contact them.
“Here 412 traffic, do you copy?”
Static again. Whoever was on the other side didn’t seem to find their words.
You were about to tell them to find another pastime and leave your channel alone, when his voice cracked again through the speakers.
“Hey, Fourtwelve.”
“Echo,” you gasped, and thanked the Force that you had released the button, saving you the embarrassment of Echo hearing his name coming out of your lips like that. You cleared your throat, pressed it again, and tried to appear nonchalant. “Echo, good to hear from you again so soon.” Yes, nailed it. “Is there any problem?”
“No problem at all. I—” he hesitated and you waited patiently. If while waiting patiently you bounced your leg rapidly, he didn’t need to know. “I just wanted to talk with you, but you seemed busy earlier, and there was many people around here as well. Is it now a better time?”
“Yes!” His chuckle should have made you feel embarrassed, but it only fuelled your thoughts. If his rough voice was sexy, his low laugh was damn near Dark Side inducing.
“Good, I am glad. I really appreciate our chats.”
“Me too, I love your voice.” In your excitement, it took you a moment to register what you had said, but his silence at the other side gave you plenty of time. When your brain caught up, your face burned, and you started to ramble, trying to cover up your slip. “I mean, I love your stories, the ones you tell me, with your voice, so that’s what I meant. Because that’s what I hear, so, I cannot listen to the stories without your voice, obviously. So, I really love that you have… a voice with—”
“Stop,” you gulped down the rest of the sentence and clamped your legs by instinct. His tone of voice had been gentle but authoritative, as someone used to scold a child. But you weren’t a child, you were very much an adult, that was having a strong reaction to a man’s voice through a comm. “Good, mesh’la.”
A very strong reaction.
You were sure he could hear your deep breathing, but he chuckled again and couldn’t find in you the will to care. “I’ve been dying for you to say something like that for a while, so you are not taking it back now. Please, tell me, what do you love about my voice?”
It didn’t escape to you that he had made his voice deeper, rougher. He was enjoying this. It was true that you had been flirting with him, but not even in your wildest dreams you had envisioned him actually responding this way. For all that you knew, he hadn’t been paying attention to it. He apparently had, and had been waiting, no, dying, for you to take the next step. You were aware that this conversation could change the nature of your interactions forever, and you were going to seize it like a bounty hunter with their price.
“I love how deep it is.” Maybe not your best line.
“You can do better than that,” he encouraged you, not unkindly.
You took a deep breath and closed your eyes, your fingers clawing at your thighs, trying to control the pent-up energy that was growing inside you. “It is gruff, but caring, I don’t understand how.” You readjusted yourself on your seat, almost vibrating out of your skin. “It is hypnotic, mesmerising. Sexy.”
Echo hummed at that, and it spurred you on. You wanted to hear that again, you needed to hear every single noise that voice could give you.
“Every time I hear your voice, it is like you're grabbing me by the nape, firm but softly, and forcing me to listen to it. I can’t move, I’m captivated. It gets inside my chest and drives me crazy, makes me feel alive. It makes me want to go to my knees. It makes me want to behave and to be mischievous at the same time.”
“Fuck,” Echo groaned at the other side.
Your breath was heavy and laboured, you felt hot, and even if you were alone in the room, you could feel the weight of his presence. You weren’t sure what possessed you, but it seemed he liked it.
“All that… from just my voice?” It seemed he liked it very much. His voice has turned into a husky drawl, and you whimpered a little. “What else? What else do I do to you? Tell me, cyar’ika.”
There was a pretty obvious consequence of his voice, the dampness of your underwear a cold reminder right now. You pressed your hand into your core, trying to soothe your growing need, and another pitiful whine escaped you.
“What was that, cyar’ika? What are you doing right now?” His words were soft, whispered, but they were commanding, there was no ignoring them.
“I’m—“ you pressed harder the heel of your hand against your clit, the simple act of telling him out loud what you were doing was sending shivers down your spine. “I’m touching, ah, myself.”
“How? Tell me,” he snarled, like gravel on his throat.
“I’m pressing my hand against me, rubbing it a little,” you gasped at the end, involuntarily.
“You are going to do something for me.” He sounded breathy, almost like he was talking too close to the comm. His voice was just a rustle, but for you, it was deafening. You uttered a breathless yes, and he continued. “You are going to touch yourself, and I’m going to tell you how to do it, understood?”
You opened your eyes at that and inhaled loudly, feeling your cunt palpitate at his words. There was only one answer to that. “Yes, sir.”
“Oh, Maker,” he groaned, and then laughed softly, the smirk evident on his voice. “Aren’t we discovering kinks today?”
You laughed as well, a little more breathless than him. Sat back and widened your legs, waiting for him to continue.
“Listen to me, cyar’ika. Take your hand, and get it inside your clothes. Slowly, there is no rush.”
You stopped for a moment, your hand hovering over your groin, and thought about what you were going to do. In reality, you barely knew him, you had never seen him in person actually! And yet, since the beginning, there’s been this connection, not only were you aroused by their voice, but there was something else pulling you to him. If you believed in such things, you could be tempted to call it predestination. You were going to start by calling it a fun time. You took a deep breath and obeyed him.
“What else? Tell me, Echo,” you threw back at him in a pleased murmur, adding some more since he seemed to like it. “Please, tell me what to do, sir.”
“Oh, you naughty thing. Maker, you are going to be so good, don’t you? But first, reach with your fingers to your pussy, don’t really touch it yet, just feel it and answer me, are you wet?”
There was a determination in his voice, Echo was a man with a plan, and he intended to execute it, and since that plan seemed to be your pleasure, you could not complain. You did as he instructed, even if you didn’t need it to know how drenched you actually were already. Every word that came through the comm, every gasp, and growl, breath and rustle, was making you whimper at the back of your throat without even touching you. You did that again for him, you whimpered, low and long, feeling your own wetness slide through your fingertips.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” he purred in a soft exhalation. “Slowly, I want you to put your finger down and circle it around your entrance. Yes, like that, I can hear your breath hitching, with just so little. You must be pretty sensitive, or is it just for me? Do you love my voice so much that it has you all worked up before we have even started? Keep circling it, mesh’la, keep gathering and spreading those sweet juices. They must taste so good. I wish I could be kneeling in front of you right now to taste it myself. Oh? Would you like that? That was a pretty filthy moan, I want to hear more of those.
“Now, cyar’ika, move your finger down onto your clit, drag it softly through it. Very softly, treat it like the precious thing it is. You sound glorious, you are being magnificent and oh, so obedient. Now press harder, back and forth, drag it back and forth harder. Faster, now. You must look splendid, I bet that pretty mouth of yours has a fantastic shape right now. Perfect for me. That’s enough, stop.”
You whined pathetically, but complied. A needy sound escaped your throat as your fingers twitched, right above where you needed them, and Echo made soothing noises peppered with praises that had you dangerously close to losing it. His voice had turned huskier and breathier in reaction to your moans, but he still sounded quite composed, unlike you.
“Echo, please,” a hoarse plea.
“Is Echo again, hmm? What happened with ‘sir’, I liked that one. But I have to admit that hearing my name on your lips, begging for me to keep talking is making me lose control a little, cyar’ika, and that doesn’t happen often, I can guarantee you that.
“Guide your hand down again, and stop at your entrance, is it there where you need them? Yes, I thought so. Now, easy, just one finger, sink it in. Maker, it must be so warm and soft. Out and inside again, like that. Easy, mesh’la, was that a pleased sob? You are being so good. I think you deserve another finger. Fuck, that one was good. Oh, what I would do if I was there right now, I bet you would enjoy my thick fingers up your cunt better than yours. I would fuck you with them until you were screaming my name. Faster now, yes, faster. I can almost hear the squelching noises every time you pull them out. Can you feel yourself clenching around them? Go on, feel it for me.
“Those shuddering moans are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. Do you know how hard I am right now? It’s almost painful, I’m hard and hot just for you, just for those sweet little cries. I know you are almost there, your panting is getting faster. Hush, don’t worry, I have you, you have all my attention. I’m not even touching myself, so if you give me one good enough, I will go up there to your office and fuck you hard against your desk as a reward.
“Do me a favour, mesh’la, stroke your clit with your thumb. Now. Good, ner cyar’ika.”
You came with a strangled moan, your orgasm wreaking havoc through your body, legs cramping over your hand with your fingers still inside you. When you came down from it, soft sobs fell uncontrollably from your lips, and you touched your clammy forehead with your shaky hand, trying to recover control of yourself. The sudden silence at the other side made you recover quicker.
“Echo? Are you still there?”
“Yes, cyar’ika, I’m still with you, I haven’t gone anywhere,” he sounded restrained, but there was a painful edge to his voice that told you it was forced.
“Was it— was it a good one?” You asked him shyly, still trying to get your breath under control.
“A good… Oh. Stars, cyar’ika.” Echo groaned and cursed under his breath, but his next words were softly spoken, a touch of concern in them. “Are you sure about that?”
“Yes, please, come here,” you said, more determined this time. You stood up and unlocked the door, but an accidental glance made you stop at your reflection in one of the panels. “Oh, wow, I look like a mess. First, I’ll need some time to fix myself.”
“Don’t even bother, ner cyar’ika, I’m planning on making a bigger mess of you. Over, Fourtwelve.”
The static at disconnecting the channel drowned your drawn-out moan, and you plumped down on your seat. It seemed that in this one, the receptionist managed to find a torrid romance for themselves at the end.
You couldn’t wait for your reward.
Prompt: Mulled Wine
Featuring: Astarion x Rogue!Tav
Series: Fits into Love at First Knife, AO3 link here
Premise: Astarion walks into you making mulled wine. He doesn’t understand why you must ruin wine for the sake of winter. When he refuses to see your point, you find another way to show him.
“Darling, what are you doing to that red wine?” Astarion walks into the kitchen, turning his nose up at the concoction you’re stirring.
“I’m making mulled wine,” you say, turning to smile at him. “What do you think I’m doing?”
He gives a single sniff and turns his lips down into a grimace. “My nose tells me that you’re ruining a perfectly good bottle of wine.” You drop the smile and give him a glare.
“What do you mean ruining?” you ask, incredulous. “I’m following the instructions that Gale gave me to the letter. Though I guess I am skipping over some of his longer-winded tangents…” A quick glance over at the notes on the counter confirms your accuracy.
The vampire shakes his head at you and walks up to the stove where you’re still stirring. “I have no doubt that you’re executing it perfectly, dear. You’ve made poisons that require more finesse than this. However, adding all of those spices– and oranges? What was wrong with the original wine?”
“Nothing was wrong. I just wanted to make something seasonal,” you say, feeling the need to defend your creation. You look down at your mixture, at the various pieces of seasonal flavors swirling as you stir, and you’re almost positive that it will taste perfect on a cold winter’s day like today.
“Why not a nice buttered rum? I don’t mind if you torment the rum.”
You roll your eyes at this, knowing full well now that this line of questioning was meant to be entertainment for Astarion. He was likely just bored and wondering why you were spending so much time in the kitchen. “I don’t want buttered rum. Why are you so against mulled wine– when was the last time you even had mulled wine?”
A moment of silence passes between you, and you turn away from your pot to look at him, suddenly fearful that you accidentally struck a nerve you hadn’t meant to. However, he just looks pensive, a single finger tapping his chin thoughtfully. When his answer finally comes, he just says it with a sense of awe, “You know, it’s likely been over 200 years.”
“Oh,” you respond, pursing your lips. You gesture at him with the spoon you’re holding. “Maybe it would be like a brand new experience?”
“It could be,” he responds, and while there’s some hesitation to his tone, he does sound more amenable to the idea now. He wafts the steam from the pot toward his nose, as if a better sniff might change his mind. Instead your lover physically recoils and places a hand over his face. “Gods, what are these spices?”
“Let’s see... cardamom, cinnamon, and star anise,” you recite, looking back at the paper Gale wrote you.
Your lover makes a face at you before he chokes out, “Star anise? That’s where the pungent smell is coming from. Darling, as the resident connoisseur of scents, you should have asked me for your spices.”
“Ah,” you breathe out, understanding dawning on you. You point the spoon at him excitedly, “I got it!”
“Got what?” he says, staring at you blankly. You can feel his assurance in your ability to make mulled wine deteriorating by the second. No matter– you know how to fix this.
Scooping up a bit of your brew in the stirring spoon, you blow gently on it to cool it down and hold it out to him. “Try it.”
“Oh no,” he immediately says, taking a step back. “I refuse to be your test subject.”
“Fine then, let me try it first.” You sip the mulled wine out of the spoon, savoring it on your tongue. It’s sweet, it’s spiced, and it tastes just like cozying up to a fireplace– your face breaks into a wide grin at its rich flavor. As you suspected, the star anise only gives it a subtle note, none of that strong licorice smell it typically has. Astarion wouldn't remember that after hundreds of years away from drinks like this. “Mmm, it’s perfect.”
Astarion looks at you for a second, as if waiting for your composure to crack, your body to convulse with disgust. When nothing happens, he only asks, “What does it taste like?”
“Would you like to try it?” You’re beaming at him now, absolutely certain that this will change his mind about mulled wine.
He still seems cautious, probably wondering if this is all some ruse devised by you and Gale.
Sensing his worries, you scoop another spoonful for yourself, take a drink, and close the distance between you. “Mmm mm,” you say to him, behind closed lips.
“What?” the man asks, raising a single eyebrow at you.
“Mmm mm!” you repeat, pointing to your lips, which you’re emphatically puckering at him.
Your request clicks in his head a moment later and he can’t help the laugh that escapes him. “My love, have I told you that you’re utterly ridiculous lately? Because I feel like you’re overdue.” Nevertheless, he takes a step forward, placing his hands on your waist and pulling you close as he meets your pursed lips with his.
The kiss, much like the mulled wine, starts off sweet but quickly comes with a kick of spice. Astarion’s tongue traces your bottom lip and you open your mouth to allow him in. One of his hands finds your face and angles it to deepen the kiss, locking his mouth with yours to try to keep the wine from spilling.
You feel a few trickles of liquid fall down your chin, but you find that you don’t mind– in fact, the only thing on your mind is the way Astarion’s tongue is relishing the mulled wine. The vampire gives a low hum as his tongue circles yours, tasting the liquid fully. He has yet to run away in revulsion, so you’re pretty sure he likes it. Or at the very least likes kissing you.
When he finally pulls away, a bit short of breath, his lips stained with wine, he gives you a smirk. “I think I finally understand the appeal of mulled wine.”
“So does that mean you liked it?” you ask him, equally breathless.
Astarion swipes his thumb down your chin, wiping away the wine that dribbled down before bringing it to mouth. He gives you a dark, lidded look as he licks it off and gives a rumbling hmm. “I’m not sure yet. You’ll have to give me another taste.”
It’s slow going, but you enthusiastically ensure that your lover gets his fill of mulled wine.
Devilishly you smiled to yourself in the mirror as you pulled on your white satin gloves and fastened a thin pearl necklace around your neck.
“Tea?” Your advisor of sorts, Sangyeon, suggested, gesturing a hand towards the teapot with a smile of generosity. “You’ve got a long week ahead, is it not better to relax now y/n?”
Sangyeon was a taller man, with darkish hair and buttery highlights that glimmered with sufficient light source. He wore a long black blazer with tailored trousers and a fitted white shirt to polish him perfectly. He’d been assigned to look over matters concerning your work, making sure you weren’t up to anything suspicious and meet your personal needs when required. Despite him being so helpful, there was something that irked you about his unwavering presence and constant eye over your activity.
Turning your neck ever so slightly, you grimaced letting out a small huff thinking of the mission you’d been proposed a little over the week ago by the organisation higher-ups.
“I suppose so. I mean…” You cleared your throat before chuckling quietly. “It’s going to be hard to fool one of the the top english spies, is it not? I’ve heard he’s a bit of a charmer. I can’t quite understand why I’ve been hired.”
“Quite so. He’s always got company you could say.” Sangyeon laughed in return, pouring the steaming hot tea from the pot with a gentle hand. “That being said, despite his charm you need to be incredibly careful not to reveal anything and stay on your guard at all times.”
“I always am. No man charms me. Id do anything for the mother country.” You reached out to grab the china teacup off it’s saucer and took it to your lips to sip.
“I definitely charm you, don’t I?” He retorted with a sly wink and a smile that stretched from ear to ear.
“Oh you wish.” You scoffed, placing the cup back down and shuddering at the comment before returning to the mirror to fix your appearance. “Besides, I have a dinner party at 8pm and I don’t need your loitering to be dampening my mood. Thank you for the pastries though, you should consider opening a bakery.”
“I’m glad you liked them. I’ll be back to escort you to your car then.” Sangyeon sighed, leaving the hotel suite with a soft close of the door.
In England, the sound of a melancholy low trumpet hummed over scene from a street player outside, fading into the open window of a grand office. It was almost sunset, the sky tinting a pale shade of orange amongst dark clouds.
“It’s been 2 days since the killing of that agent they masked as you and you’ve got 3 hours until that flight to Istanbul! Do you understand the consequences if you don’t retrieve that lektor Sohn? That cipher machine connects their entire military intelligence and you’re walking around with a blinking target on your head! ” M recited to Sohn, between his fingers a thick cigar emitting a cloud of heavy smoke.
M, the head of the British Secret service, was addressing what was the assassination attempt of Sohn at a British military facility earlier that week. Sohn had been giving a mission to retrieve a soviet device called the lektor, a cipher machine developed to connect communications.
“I’m very aware, I’ll play my cards right when I get there.” Sohn replied, his lips twisting into a sly smirk as he was being lectured by the higher up.
“Very well.” M sighed rising from his chair, leaving his cigar to rest in a glass dish before retrieving a brief case from the side of his desk. “In that case, there’s 20 rounds of ammunition, flat throwing knives and a 0.25 caliber, rifle that folds it has infrared sight. Use this when you need it and don’t let it out your sight.”
“Thank you very much.” His fingers wrapped around his crystal glass of whiskey, Eric took a sip before inspecting the case with a smug smile. “I best be off.”
As the evening settled in Istanbul, the dinner party had began not being invited to sit at the table yourself, you felt quite disappointed your importance in the operation had been significantly swept aside. Upon arrival you quickly recognized a ruddy faced man with a well kept moustache, his hair turning a dark grey with age and was smartly dressed in the cream suit that had been described to you by Sangyeon.
“Hello, I give my deepest apologies for interrupting your conversation. However, I must speak to you in private sir.” You gently tapped on the man’s shoulder, watching him jovially turn with attention.
“Very well, may I ask your name? What can I do for you?” The man answered almost like a store keeper with polite customer service, as if a mask of required kindness had been veiled over his face.
“I’m Y/N, L/N, former agent associated with spectre. I have quite the infatuation with Eric Sohn, I heard he was travelling to the country this evening and I was hoping I could help assist his duties.” You replied opening your eyes like an innocent fawn in attempts to convince your ‘pure’ intentions.
“What’s your interest with Mr. Sohn? How am I meant to trust your being genuine, Y/N, is it?” The head of the British Secret Service in Istanbul spoke softly to you as you chewed at your inner lips nervously. Politely observing your attire, his lips twisting into a curious smile.
Sticking to the script, you began. “I’d be willing to betray this country, for the man has me quite swooned. Therefore, if you would be ever so kind to introduce me to Eric Sohn himself, I’d be ever so grateful. It could get me killed if you tell any other soul.” You spoke eloquently, your demeanour slightly mischievous as you attempted to charm the gentleman.
“If that’s so. I’m sure he’d be happy to meet you.” He returned a smile , turning away from you likely to confront Eric about the matters. Your grin almost resembled that of the cheshire cat, deviously imagining the plans success.
“Aren’t you quite the actor?” The voice of Sangyeon behind you caused you to jolt in fear, in case it was one of the agents unaware of the mission assigned to you.
“You just scared the living day lights out of me, can you not just go jumping out of the shadows at me like that?” You brought your hand out to your chest and let out a sigh of relief.
“It’s what I’m trained to do sweetheart.” He chuckled, patting your head like a lost puppy before pacing himself around to the other side of you.
“Seems your plans going smoothly, you have someone approaching you, west.” He quickly pointed over to where Eric Sohn was with gentleman you spoke to earlier.
It came as no surprise to you that the man was incredibly handsome, his smile as he spoke to the other was just magical it served as almost a charm and worked on people like a spell. It was a smile that evoked emotions inexplicable, love, desire, a false sense of comfort that could easily be used as a weapon for betrayal. It was no wonder he was the most sought after member of the secret service in his country, his looks alone could turn his every target into his puppet. He was smartly dressed like described in a classic black tuxedo, a briefcase slotted into his right hand, his hair an enchanting shade of platinum blonde that emphasised his defined bone structure, a jawline so dangerous it could tear paper.
Almost choking on your previous words that no man could charm you, you gulped slightly, clearing your throat and fixing your posture as he approached.
“Allow me to introduce you to Y/N L/N who I’d briefly mentioned earlier.” The gentleman in the cream attire held out his hand to greet you, gently shaking it with a two hands.
“Hello y/n, I’m Eric Sohn. Its delightful to meet such a gem amongst all these people.” He leaned to great you with a polite kiss on the cheek, gently shaking your hand. Every feeling of morality in your body shuddered, nervously feeling the limbs in your body grow weak almost as if you were one flirtatious comment away from fainting.
“It’s such a divine pleasure to meet you too, I’ve been dying to finally get the chance to meet you in person. I’m such an admirer of you work.” You quickly gathered yourself together and carefully spoke with a soft velvety voice.
“Shall we go for a walk in the gardens?” Eric suggested, his eyebrow raising curiously as he also observed your attire and features.
“I’d be more than glad.” You responded as he held his arm out towards you to link, gently taking your arm and walking you out the grand marble doors.
The night was darker than usual, with a dull moon and stars that twinkled pathetically amongst thick clouds. However the bright lights that had been messily strung across the hedges lit up the the scene warmly. The sound of the blue piano being played from the inside faintly bled out into the garden along with indistinguishable chatter from guests up in the main hall.
“I must ask y/n, what gave you interest in the British Secret Service in the first place?” He began as you walked the side of the grounds arm in arm.
“Well… I felt as if my position in the country wasn’t appreciated enough. I don’t agree with their morale or treatment regarding myself.” You replied gracefully, glancing over to the tidy man. His presence radiated that of a tough masculine self assured nature. He looked at you with suspicion, allowing his guard to remain up like a fence.
“Well it’s in my best interest to not trust your intentions immediately, but I believe the information that resides with you is incredibly valuable to me and my mission.” He took a moment to take a breath before a cocky smirk crawled on to his lips. “Therefore, to test this loyalty of yours. I have to request a map, one of the military base that holds the lektor I’m after. Provide this and you earn my trust, sweetheart.”
You gulped for a moment, you had specifically been told not to leak any intelligence or assist him in anyway. You couldn’t foil his plans by providing a false map either, your hands were tied and even he knew that. Him and his manipulation tactics. He knew sly ways around people, you providing this map would mean surrendering all your loyalty to the secret service and despite having feelings inexplicable for the man beside you, you couldn’t give up what meant most to you. You had to figure out a plan.
“When do you want me to provide this to you?” You attempted the mask the fear that lingered in your throat, strangling your words with thick ropes that made you sound as if you’d seen several ghosts appear before you.
“Tonight, slip it behind the fourth pillar beside the stairs by 10 and I’ll soon be there to pick it up." He smiled, there was something sinister about his words as if he knew that it would be almost impossible for you to hatch a plan within that time.
“Very well, it will be there.” You took a breath momentarily, his warm touch departing you as he proceeded back into the large building. He turned back to you a last time, giving you a sly wink before going upstairs with a bright smile on his lips.
“Are you out of your damn mind? You are aware he’s drawing you right in his trap?” Sangyeon appeared from behind one of the pillars outside, having followed you around the entire time. “He’s not an idiot, he’s trapping you, you providing that map will lead him straight to his plan.”
“Then you best tell them to prepare.” You rolled your eyes, watching his serious dark eyes stare into your conscience. “If I don’t give him this, we lose all trust. He’s not an idiot but perhaps you are, now leave me be.”
You breezed past him, making sure to shoulder check him before making your way back into the hall with a bitter smile on your face. Going into the bathrooms on the left side of the building, you took a pen from your bag and began to map out a rough sketch of the secured military base housing the lektor Sohn was after. Folding it between your fingers, you left the bathroom, discreetly dropping it by the pillar he’d asked you too.
You grabbed a glass of prosecco from one of the many waiters dotted around the function room and joined Sangyeon’s friendly conversation with other associates. Nervously, your attention wavered from the bubbles appearing at the top of the champagne flute, to over your shoulder where Sohn was now making his way behind the pillar.
He walked around it as if he was daydreaming, picking the sheet of paper up and sliding it into his pocket. He gave you a brief smile before proceeding back to his gaggle of officials who’d be overseeing his work in the country.
“I think it’s home time for us.” Sangyeon closed the conversation with a sigh, placing a firm but soft hand on your shoulder. You smiled at the group of men in front of you, before slipping past them arm linked with Sangyeon.
“The officials aren’t pleased with you.” Sangyeon muttered through pursed lips. “However, they understand that you sincerely had no other choice."
"And? Are they preparing?" You replied raising one eyebrow cockily.
"They can't assign enough men to cover the base tomorrow. However if Sohn gets his hands on the device, which is unlikely, they're use as much forces as they can to retrieve it back." Sangyeon sighed at the seemingly idiotic plan, his rough palm wiping the illusion of sweat from his forehead and loosening his slim black tie as you elegantly slipped into the parked Mercedes.
꒰ა ˚₊ ✧・┈・╴﹕꒰ ᐢ📰☕️🎬ᐢ ꒱﹕╴・┈・𐑺 ‧₊˚໒꒱
The quiet hums of soft jazz fell across the café like a warm blanket, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and a plethora of pastries baked earlier that morning danced through the air as if it were a spritz of expensive perfume. Outside, rain fell like hail, beating the ground like drumbeats and forming puddles that resembled ponds or even lakes.
Upon first encounter it would seem that you had your nose stuck into an edition of wuthering heights your eyes flickering over the nonsensical words, so often turning a page with a dramatic sigh. However, the act of appearing busy wore you out like no other, your fingers rested on the right side of your face with impatient taps.
“Well… What a surprise to see you here!” An almost sarcastic voice sounded as the bell chimed over the café alerting you from the words on the page.
Your eyes snapped to Eric Sohn, neatly dressed as usual in a tuxedo with pin stripes, the outfit missing the blazer but tied together with a waistcoat. If you hadn’t been so stressed about the date, you would have fainted over his rolled up dress shirt that exposed his toned forearms. You would have been a mess, but that’s not the point at hand.
“Well yes, I do enjoy a morning read, you could say.” You smiled, almost grimacing at the script-like conversation. Finding yourself almost upset you had to talk to him that way, wishing you could genuinely talk to the man on a level that wasn’t inevitably leading to the utter destruction of betrayal.
“You seem like you’re away with the fairies this morning, what’s on your mind?” He sat beside you for a moment, his elbows rested on the table behind him. His face was just above your head, eyes looming over you suspiciously.
“I’m just worried.” You replied simply, packing your things into your bag with a short huff. Awaiting you both was Sohn’s plan to breach the military base that very afternoon.
“How so?” He chuckled almost, smile lines breaking out in his cheeks, his grin lighting up his every feature, helping you to climb down from the stool you’d sat on.
“Well, what happens if this doesn’t go to plan?” You looked him in his deep brown eyes that glistened so prettily under the warm lighting, his smile dampening quickly.
“In my way or yours?” He smirked cockily, turning from you to leave the café, briefly turning to check you were following. However, you stood frozen still, what does that mean? Your plan hadn’t worked? Your blood ran cold, he’d truly had you wrapped around his finger, he knew.
“Sorry? I’m not sure what you mean by that.” You laughed the situation off, watching as his pitiful smile broke again, an almost pathetic laugh escaping his lips.
“Don’t play dumb.” He rolled his eyes momentarily, grinning with a hint of mischief to his words. “You and I clearly have our differences. I don’t fall for this entire act you’ve got going on, sugar.”
You felt sweat forming in the palms of your hands, your lips begin to quiver slightly, whilst your tongue felt like it had been duct taped to the roof of your mouth. With a clenched jaw you chose silence, watching him smirk as you stared into the pitiful void in his eyes. His hand ran through the platinum blonde strands of his hair as he sighed, unable to contain his chuckles as he watched you drown in your own psychological mess.
“Instead of being confused, I think it would be more worth while considering siding with me. Why don’t we get you out of this mess of a life you live? You’re ordered around like dog and it’s not fit for a diamond like you.” He sighed pacing around you like a lion playing with its food. “I’ve taken a liking to your dedication, I can see you’re so badly trying to stay loyal to your work but there’s something else you can’t resist.”
You shuddered as his lips hovered over your ears, whispering words of temptation in the most insatiable manner. Your body still frozen in time had not moved an inch from the table you’d been sat at. Warmth rising to your features whilst your stomach rattled around like a brittle old machine in the dry cleaners.
“You know this too. I’m not trying to manipulate you as I have nothing else to gain from your companionship. However, I’m quite fond of you y/n. I think your intelligence is to be treated better.” He shrugged his eyes glistening in a way that presented his words as something genuine, something honest. His praise lit up fireworks in your system, you were on rich compliment away from detonating completely.
“I appreciate your words Mr. Sohn.” You began, clearing your throat gently before continuing. “However, I think you and I are destined to be opposed. I wish you well.”
You fiercely clutched your bag in the warmth of your hand, swiftly rushing to exit the sheer embarrassment of the situation. The once soft sound of harmonic trumpets now sounded like the chaotic thrill of elephants stampeding through the small confinements of the café. It was in no way complimented by the grating sound of a piano keys being smashed in a way that was neither melodic or enjoyable to listen to. Yet before you could grasp the golden handle of the door, you were beckoned back by the honey sweet sound of your name amongst the frightful waves.
“Y/n?” Eric who turned to face you a final time, smiled, not a classic smirk or sinister chuckle, a small smile that made his eyes resemble those of a harmless puppy. “Contact me, if you change your mind.”
You looked back with a blank expression, observing his relaxed demeanour with bitterness lingering heavy on your mind. A bitterness, a feeling of resentment, but what you would do to run away with him if you could. You’d be killed.
The sound of the café bell chime felt almost like the sound of a distant gunshot to Eric, at heart he knew he’d never be able to swoon you in the way he’d hoped. There was a small rose seed sewn into his heart especially for you, he himself resented the way you as intelligent as you were, could be used as shark bait and treated like no more than a sniffer dog. Unusual for him to grow such a soft spot considering you were the enemy in the equation. He sighed, clutching the briefcase he’d been gifted and headed out to do what he came here for in the first place.
The military base was fairly small, observing the blueprints you’d traced for him, his plan was fairly simple. The box-like building was connected to an underground train link, there was no service running for another half an hour, which gave him that much time to secure the lektor and catch the next train inbound.
A small ladder led up to a hatch secured in the bottom of the facility, gently he used his fingers to open it almost silently. Stupidly, the officials thought Sohn would blatantly try to enter the building through the main entrance, a line of armed men waiting behind the doors.
The operations room was a littered with different documents, weapons, machinery, cupboards the only option for Sohn was to scramble through every shelf hoping to find the device wherever it’d been temporarily hidden. Underneath a satin sheet, there was a black box that somehow resembled the demonstration he’d been shown of the device. However, as he opened the box an explosion of smoke popped causing his ears to ring as the distant sound of yelling was heard from the unmanned room. This couldn’t stop Eric, he calmly continued to rake through the drawers as the voices grew louder.
In the bottom drawer, was the box he was looking for, checking once to see that it was not another trap and the actual device. As he pulled it from its case, the sounds of shots hitting the wall behind him caused him to pull a small pistol from his blazer pocket. Shooting back at the guards, neither of them being able to see clearly through the smoke from the trap. Eric crawled to the hatch, lektor huddled close to his chest.
The honking of the steam engine down the tunnel relieved him as he fired up the hatch to warn the soldiers not to come down. With his back against the wall, the train narrowly passed by him with little space to leave. He elbowed one of the windows as it slowed on the tracks, hurling himself onboard one of the carriages. He quickly switched suits, and sealed the device in his briefcase as protocol before exiting the broken room on the carriage and proceeding to another.
A sigh of relief slipped his lips as he sat down with his briefcase beside him, he even decided to purchase a cup of tea for the journey and peacefully kicked his legs up to read a newspaper. At least for the first ten minutes, the sound of his cabin door sliding open alerted him to look up casually from the words on the page. He couldn’t quite explain who the man who stood at the door was, he was familiar but not a man he knew at least. He was dressed a long black tux with brownish hair, his eyes replicated those of fury, aggression, enough to alert Sohn at least.
“Hand it over.” Pulling a gun from the waistband of his tailored black trousers, his face remained blank as Sohn raised his hands in the air with a laugh.
“That’s not very friendly.” Eric tutted, standing up from his seat with the case laying on the seat behind him. As he observed him more carefully the identity of the man began to become less pixelated, funnily enough it’s as if everywhere Sohn went he saw a face like resembling the man in the crowd. “I’m not a fan of stalkers but I’m sure we could settle this with an autograph.”
The joke seemed to land terribly with the other male, his lips curling in disgust as he readjusted his finger over the trigger of the gun in his hand.
“Get over yourself.” The man sneered before looking Sohn directly in the eye with a cold stare. “Your plan is hardly turning out successful, poor y/n came crying to me about your twisted bullshit.”
“Ah yes, now I remember!” Sohn clasped his hands together beginning to pace the small room, the man’s gun latching target to his head. “You’re y/n’s little lap dog! That makes so much more sense, unrequited love, that must be hard for you buddy.”
Sohn’s words cut through him like a knife, the anger boiling through his veins as he struggled to keep his composure. The gun wavering only slightly as his lips pursed furiously.
“I’m more than that buddy.” The unnamed man laughed in a way that attempted to conceal his emotions but instead the line came out as no more than a high pitch croak. “Now hand it over before I turn your brain into several servings of spaghetti.”
“Sangyeon!” The sound of angry footsteps stomping through the corridor alerted the man, however he didn’t take his eyes off Sohn for a second.
“Listen, Sangyeon is it?” Sohn laughed, his voice sounding assertive despite the noise of the rattling train and noisy horns. “I think you better calm down, she won’t be happy with what you’re trying to do here.”
Sangyeon’s gun lowered, just to the point where it was out of sight of the narrow train passage but still somewhat aiming at Sohn.
“What is it?” He called, the relief of Sohn’s face when he saw yours outside of the window was golden. It would have been so tedious attempting to get out of the situation himself.
“I’ve been looking for you all bloody day! Now I found out you’re trying to leave the country? What are-”Your eyes originally blinking in red fury softened into bright pearls upon meeting Eric’s. Then all of a sudden they turned red again as you looked back to Sangyeon with increased suspicion. “Step away from the door.”
Surprisingly he did just that, revealing the gun that was pointed towards Sohn just out the hallway. Eric discreetly took the opportunity to assemble the weapon given to him as Sangyeon’s eyes focused on yours.
“There is no way, I’m letting you kill a man that’s not business to take care of.” You sighed, blocking the doorway and staring into the soulless void of eyes. “Leave here immediately. You’re only gonna end up hurt.”
“Y/N? Are you out of damn mind?” Sangyeon burst out into maniacal laughter almost resembling one of those villains from a popular comic book at the time. “I’ve spent years protecting you and you repay me by - I don’t know - falling in love with the enemy?”
“I am not in love with Mr. Sohn-” You refuted, the lies slipped from your tongue as denial spun its web around the pink mush of your brain. You couldn’t coherently finish the sentence without entering a spiral.
“Really?” Sangyeon eyes flickered with false confusion, his lips breaking out into a scary grin. “Then tell me why I can’t kill him?” He left a pause for you to fill in the space, but as your eyes darted around the room you realised that he was perhaps right. You couldn’t admit that but there was no reason to let Sohn get away with the device needed to connect the entire unions military operations. It was simply ridiculous.
“Thought so.” Sangyeon sighed. “It’s a shame you’d leave me with such a broken heart.” There was a glint of genuine pain in his eyes, underneath the tough exterior. He was always good at concealing his emotions, rarely showing them and acting as enthusiastic as a piece of cardboard most days.
“Leave.” You looked him in the eyes more seriously than you ever had before, you were of course furious with Sangyeon. However, you couldn’t watch him get hurt or at least die trying to defend a union that didn’t even value his work.
“I can’t do that. You know I can’t. You’re going to get us into a situation you don’t know consequences of.” Sangyeon spat his words firm, eyes bulging out of their sockets as if they were signalling your final warning. “I’d do anything to protect you y/n. Now let me.”
With that he pulled your arm out of the way of the door, only to reveal an Eric Sohn that was more than ready to pounce. Sohn tackled Sangyeon, wounding his arm but managing to throw his gun down the other end of the carriage. Sangyeon panicked, attempting to reach for Sohn before he could take your arm. He yelled out for you, the change in his voice causing you to whip your head around as Eric’s sprinting stopped.
“Y/N!! WAIT!” The agonising shriek ran cold through your bones, you gasped turning to the man as he rose from the ground. “Don’t leave. I serve no purpose without you.”
“I love you.”
The scene looked like a shakespearean tragedy, the two men on either side of the carriage looking at you expectantly. Sangyeon the tragic hero, the final villain to be defeated clinging to a last thread of hope that you’d take his hand and run away with him instead. Then on the other hand Sohn, a dream-like protagonist that had fallen in love with an enemy in battle, waiting to ride his horse into into the sunset. Your mind ran codes like a computer, processing your deepest desires battling the virus of conflict that had been hard-wired into your system.
“I can’t, but we will meet again Sangyeon.” You sighed, your love for Sangyeon was purely platonic, forced out of a system that took you for granted and fed you to the sharks. “Leave this line of work as soon as you can, you don’t deserve to be hurt this way. But I have to go.”
Tears welled at Sangyeon’s eyes for the first time in perhaps over a decade, he knew you were right, in fact he didn’t want you to be in danger anymore. Mature, as he always was, he knew your decision was ultimately the right answer. His love for you, was far greater than his selfish desires, but succumbing to your own was the best thing you could do. The only thing he necessarily cared about over his broken heart, was Sohn’s ability to keep you safe - he knew he would. As he clenched his fists watching you and Sohn run into the hills together he smiled, a chuckle leaving his lips, glad you had your happy ending.
“Where is he?” Asked a gaggle of soldiers boarding the train, their rifles over their chests as they marched down the carriage.
“I lost him.” Sangyeon replied, his lies convincing enough to deter the soldiers away from the area, as he weakly stepped off at the last stop of the train. It was a beautiful day outside, a beautiful place to announce his new beginning. He sighed, as he viewed the coast line from the train stop, maybe opening a bakery isn’t a bad idea after all.
“You ever visited here before?” Sohn asked, leaning across the canoe as he rowed down the streets, the sunshine lighting up his golden skin.
“Well, I’ve never left the country.” You chuckled, causing his face to light up in amusement as you admired the waters surrounding the city of Venice.
“I thought I’d ask, I’m glad I’m able to provide such a romantic spot for such a beauty like you.” He winked mischievously, laughing as you cringed at his advanced his eyes scrunching into crescent moons.
“Do I have to be worried about all this flirting Mr.Sohn? I’m not falling for any tricks.” Your eyes squinted at him suspiciously, propping your head in the palm of your hand as you leaned across the canoe.
“Well, if this is anything to settle your worries. I’m in a bit of trouble with M for accepting your side quest. He said to me a few years ago that if I let romance get in the way of my missions ever again, I’ll either get myself killed by it or even M himself.” He laughed thinking back to conversation. His eyes that sought out reminiscence in the distance then flickered to meet yours. “When I first met you, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to keep that promise.”
Melting into his words, you laughed as you felt the heat rise to your cheeks and the irresistible warmth of true love blossom in the pit of your stomach. As your eyes lingered on each others, you observed the beautiful nature of Sohn himself. He was etched in the model of a greek god, you finally validated yourself for falling into his trap, perhaps the love potion you were casting accidentally splashed yourself. For a few moments, Sohn hesitated, leaning closer to you for a moment as you froze. Your brain almost completely malfunctioned as he smiled, lifting your chin with the palm of his hand. Finally pressing your lips to his you smiled to yourself, as the sun began to set in Venice, the once blue sky-line was painted like a canvas with the most vibrant shades oranges and pinks.
Despite your mission abhorrently failing, the feeling of true love and freedom was the most successful ending your desolate heart could have asked for.
Besides, the love potion seemed to be successful.. Eric certainly seemed smitten as your words fell on his ears like sugar, as you talked the past and other interesting things about yourself. Venice seemed like the perfect place to forget your lives, forget how you met and fall in love all over again.
fin. — “you will locate, befriend and fall in love with agent Sohn.”
Self-preservation
Joel Miller x reader
No physical description, gender neutral, no use of y/n
Summary: Joel struggles with loving and being loved, you've already given in.
Word count: 1k
Warnings: language, mention of god
A/n: just a lil drama  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ also: multiple lines are from these two prompt lists and another part is inspired by this post (i can link the lines directly if that's preferred)
—
“I don’t want you to love me. I don’t wanna be loved or love someone else.”
You shake your head slowly. “I wish that mattered.”
Indignation washes over him. Joel takes a threatening step towards you and barks, “You went after someone broken, you’re gonna get someone broken. And don’t you dare start with any a that ‘I could fix you’ bullshit.”
“I don’t want to fix you!” You let out a prickly laugh, your brow drawn up, and you gesture with your arms, “I love you, I loved you when I met you and I’ve loved you ever since, every version of you, I’ve loved, I love you,”
“Stop sayin’ that.” He yells. His insides are screaming. “I don’t know what you want from me.” Even though he knows the answer, he retorts, more for the sake of having something to retort.
“I don’t want anything from you.”
He rubs his hand over his face. His head hurts. You’re perfect, and you love him and he yearns for you, he loves you like he’s never loved anything, and here you stand before him, begging for him, for anything, for nothing.
Shaking his head, he starts, “Wrong place at the wrong time. Meetin’ me, just wrong place at the wrong time.” Joel turns away from you, almost hugging himself, gripping his biceps. “Fuck.” He squeezes his eyes shut, tearing through the thoughts whipping around in his head, ripping into the stories he’d forced so much faith into to make right all the decisions he’s made about you. “From the moment I met you, everythin’ in me told me to run… I didn’t wanna look at you, I didn’t wanna be near you, I didn’t wanna know you, cause I wanted to avoid this. N’ I’m sorry I didn’t, an’ I know you can’t help it, and I don’t blame you, I blame the world and I blame god for puttin’ you here, the worst possible person at the worst possible fuckin’ time because,” he raises his voice, annoyed at his own words, “I’m no wordsmith so I don’t know how the fuck else t’ put it, but you’re perfect, in every way, you’re perfect, n’ I love you.” He pinches the bridge of his nose, closes his eyes, and sighs. “I’m sorry I didn’t just pack my shit up n’ leave that first day, cause now we’re all” still facing away from you, he knits his fingers together and tighten them so that when he tries to pull them apart they’re stuck, “intertwined. I’m sorry I didn’t leave when I had the chance, I’m sorry you met me, I’m sorry I’m such a horrible person to love, I’m sorry that I love you, I’m js’… sorry.” His head bows deeply.
After a beat, you speak up from behind him, “Why didn’t you ever tell me you love me?”
He whips back to face you and shouts, “Because I was trying to avoid this! Because I wanted to protect myself from you and protect you from me. I mean, how did you think this would end—”
“I don’t care how it ends.” Your eyes are steady on his, voice gentle but assertive, “It doesn’t matter how it started, or when, or how much you resent it. I’m going to love you anyway. I'm going to want you anyway. I need you anyway.” You take a step towards him. He’s tongue tied, and having made the mistake of turning to look at you again, in your tragic divinity, he’s frozen. “You’re right, you should’ve ran while you could, because now I’m just gonna follow you. You should’ve ran as soon as you met me cause that’s when you caught me. I tried to let you go—I twisted the knife myself, tried to make it so I'd get sick at the sight of you, I tried to make myself hate you. But it didn’t work, I was miserable and I still loved you, I couldn’t shake you. So I gave up trying. I’ve given in.” you take another step forward, “I’m yours.”
Your words strike him like lighting and it devours all of his senses other than sight, spared by and for you. It shoots through cold but ridden by fire and it leaves him with cleaner air, each detail of your breaths now crisp, the space separating you distinct. His breath hitches. “I’m gonna break your heart.” he warns, a last ditch effort.
“Do what you want with it. I don’t care. I’ll take whatever you give me, I want all of you. If it’s ugly, so am I. If it aches I’ll ache. Put me in agony I’ll writhe for you.” You take another step towards him.
“I don’t want to hurt you.”
“It’s gonna hurt anyway.” you answer him quickly, “Love always does. My fate’s been decided, you’ll be the death of me,” you step forward, “I’m just asking you to draw it out.”
“That’s stupid.”
“I know it is.” you take another step closer, “All this training in self-preservation, doing everything I can to stay alive, to protect myself, and then you come along and it all goes out the window.” The gap between you is now only inches wide. This is the closest you’ve ever been, Joel having always ducked away any time you found yourselves closer together than ‘friends should be’, and it is lovely. Your lips are chapped and you smell like soap but still like you, he holds himself back from sucking it deep into his lungs.
“It was that day we ran into those Clickers,” you continue, “I can still see it, clear as day, you standing right across from me in that doorway. And that clicking was getting closer and closer and I was thinking that these might be my last seconds, and all I felt was regret.” You slide your hand over his jaw and up to his cheek, two fingers in his hair behind his ear. He closes his eyes at the sensation of you on his skin and when he opens them, your eyes are glued to his lips. “Hurt me, I don’t give a shit, just let me love you before we run outta time.”
Date Night In
〘Day 4- Hiding an Illness〙
〘Notes- I'm not sure if I'll continue after this prompt, these haven't been doing so well and classes start tomorrow. (I don't mean for that to sound like I'm being petty or anything, I'm just not sure if I'll have time). Hope you enjoy this one though!〙
〘Summary- Date night is ruined when you get sick...or is it?〙
〘Word Count- 800〙
〘Pairing- WandaNat x Sick Reader〙
〚Main Masterlist〛⌶〚Sicktember Masterlist〛
Tumblr media
You wrapped the cardigan a bit tighter around your shoulders, a fever chill tearing through your body. Your body had been altering between hot flashes and intense chills for the last several hours, Advil seeming to have done nothing to ease your fever.
Though you were feeling sick, you were determined to push through. Wanda had gone out of her typical routine and surprised Natasha and you with tickets to a popular movie playing in a theater only three blocks away. Her logic was that the three of you hadn’t done anything spontaneous in forever (none of you were particularly interested in spontaneity) and that you needed a night out.
Had it been a different day you would’ve probably been excited. You loved spending time with your girlfriends whenever you got the chance, especially considering that you practically never had a spare moment to go on dates. That was why it was so important for you to push this illness down and deal with it later.
With glanced in the mirror one last time, fixed your hair and took a final deep breath which turned into a bubbling cough. When the fit ended you shook your head (only serving to make yourself dizzy) and turned to leave the bathroom, swaying in your heels.
By the time you got to the bottom of the stairs where your two lovers were waiting, you were out of breath and wheezing. Your nose was running profusely, and you had your hand pressed against your face, feeling disgusting. You did your best to compose yourself quickly and smile, but they saw right through you.
Wanda’s face morphed into an expression of sadness, worry, and disappointment. One of Natasha’s eyebrows creeped up and she crossed her arms over her chest, settling into an “oh really” position. It was the position she assumed when she knew you were going to lie to you in preparation to shoot down any falsehood you told her.
“Shall we?” You rasped, wincing internally at the sound of your own voice. It was bad. The only thing that you could do was paste a smile across your face to cover it, but that clearly wasn’t doing it for them.
“No, we shall not.” Natasha sighed, rubbing a hand across her perfectly done up face. The makeup she had used was apparently excellent because everything stayed in place. Even her lipstick was still perfect.
“But—” You tried to protest, taking a few steps toward the women who were already kicking off shoes and removing overcoats. Wanda smiled softly at you as she removed the earrings you had gotten her on your second anniversary and placed them in her pocket.
“Come on my love, let’s get you into bed. We can go to the movies another night.” The brunette said, linking her arm around yours. You frowned and tried to pull away, only for Natasha to move to your other side and wrap an arm around your waist.
“It’s okay, we can watch something in bed and eat snacks if you’re feeling up to it.” She replied, walking the two of you up the stairs.
You tried to protest the whole way up to bed, promising that you were fine and that it was just a small cold. Every word fell on deaf ears as they helped you change into soft clothes and deposited you in the large bed before following suit.
Wanda let out a relaxed sigh and leaned against you, wrapping her arms around your waist. Natasha flopped down and flipped on the TV, scrolling quickly through Netflix. The woman could surf channels like no one else, her eyes flitting across the description for less than half a second before moving to the next.
“I’m fine guys.” You muttered, actively nodding off as you slouched against Wanda. The witch was comfortable, and perfectly willing to let you use her as a pillow. Nat had begun to card her fingers through your hair while searching for a movie and muttering under her breath.
The two began to bicker quietly, arguing over what to watch with you in the middle. Their sort of playful banter was amusing, and it strangely made you feel better. Now that you were laying down, you could admit to yourself that you really didn’t feel well. Listening to your girls duke it out over what to put on the TV felt normal, even when you didn’t.
You felt yourself drawn more and more into the depths of sleep as Wanda refused an action movie and Natasha made her case for the genre. When you woke up several hours later, your girlfriends both asleep at your side, you saw Jurassic Park running on the TV leading you to assume that they had decided on a marathon and that the assassin had won the debate.
The Gingerbread Gauntlet (part 2)
Summary: The housewardens have a gingerbread house competition
A/N: Winter themed gingerbread house twst fanfic~!! Part 2~!! The overall fic is a bit long so I decided to break it into smaller parts for readability. I'll be posting one part per day and will add links for the other parts after they post <3
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4/END - AO3 (whole fic)
Word Count: 1 k CW: crack, silly, shouting, insults, mild swearing, candy/gingerbread
Tumblr media
The rest of the housewardens watch the tiny cookie drama play out with a mixture of mild interest and curiosity. Leaning into view, Idia speaks up from his seat at the far end of the table, “K-Kalim-shi. Are you making cookie versions of everyone?”
Kalim turns towards Idia, eyes sparkling with excitement, and practically shouts, “Yes! Aren’t they so cute and fun?!” He holds up two gingerbread figures decorated with blue and white edible glitter before passing them down the table to Idia, “Look! I even made you and your brother Ortho!”
Idia looks down at the tiny gingerbread version of his brother in his hands with a soft smile on his face, “Wow, that was really nice of you. Thanks, Kalim.” After carefully setting the two cookies on a plate next to his workspace, he then picks up another gingerbread figure from inside of his mostly finished gingerbread house. “I made some cookie characters too. See?” He holds up the little cookie, decorated with a strangely chiseled face drawn in colorful icing, for Kalim to see.
Kalim tilts his head and says with a friendly smile, “Oh wow~! That looks really good! Who is that? A friend of yours?”
Idia stares at Kalim with wide-eyed disbelief, “A friend-? What are you talking about?! This is obviously the character Gogo from the hit anime series ‘Gogo’s Mundane Daily Life’! Even a group of normies like this one should know of a series that popular!!” Idia turns to look at the other housewardens and is met with a series of blank stares. Quickly grabbing another gingerbread figure from his house, he holds it up and asks, “Well, what about this one? There’s no way you wouldn’t recognize this guy! It’s Two Kick Man! He’s an icon!”
Azul closes his eyes in frustration and pinches the bridge of his nose, “Idia, I keep telling you that those shows you watch are not mainstream at all and unknown to the majority of the student population here. Please listen to me for once.”
Idia bolts up from his seat and points angrily at the Octavinelle housewarden. “Like you’d even know! Do they even have TVs where you’re fr-” Idia’s accusations are suddenly cut off when, instead of passionately slamming his palm on the table, he mistakenly brings his hand straight down in the middle of his gingerbread house. With a high pitched squeak, he looks down in terror at the pile of sugary rubble in front of him. Grabbing the sides of his head in anguish, Idia cries out, “AUGH!! NO!! WHAT HAVE I DONE?!” He drops heavily into his seat as he mutters gloomily, “This is gonna take forever to fix. Ugh, fuck my stupid baka life.”
Azul chuckles darkly and adjusts his glasses, “Oh dear, what a tragic accident. You should really be more careful, Idia.” Turning back to his intricately designed, sea-themed gingerbread house, he shakes his head with a little sigh, “Ah well. It’s unfortunate but I suppose that just means less competition now. How fortuitous for me!”
Idia’s head snaps up and he glares at Azul with a bewildered kind of fury in his eyes. “Wha-?! Excuse me?? Did you just tell me to be careful?!” He jumps to his feet once more and points an accusatory finger at Azul, “If anyone should be careful here, it should be you! You filthy, cheating, no-good scrub!”
Raising a hand to fidget with his glasses, Azul’s reply is smooth but his left eye twitches imperceptibly, “I’m sure I have absolutely no idea what you mean, Idia. That’s a rather heavy accusation and frankly, I’m feeling rather hurt by your rude language.”
Whipping his smartphone out of his pocket, Idia holds it up for the group to see before pressing the speakerphone function. He faces Azul with a haughty grin on his face, “As soon as I realized you were wearing the camera glasses I made you for your last birthday, I knew you were up to something. You’ve been on a video call with a world-famous pastry chef who’s been giving you instructions this whole time! I hacked into the call ages ago. Everyone! Look!! Do you see the little earbud in his ear?! It’s so sus!!”
Almost instinctively, Azul places a hand over his ear and flashes a dazzlingly charming smile towards the rest of the group, “I assure you all, absolutely no cheating is taking place here. I’m simply listening to some relaxing music as I work!”
From Idia’s phone, a tiny voice rings out, “Mr. Ashengrotto? Is everything alright? Should I end the call?”
Azul springs up out of his seat and yells, “SHUT UP ROBERT! STOP INCRIMINATING ME!”
The sudden speed of Azul launching himself to his feet knocks his glasses loose, causing them to slide off of his face and fall directly into a bowl of runny, vanilla icing. As they slowly sink into the sugary liquid, a crackling sound like static and tiny electric sparks are emitted by the glasses before they finally drop to the bottom of the bowl. Everyone at the table stares at the drowned eyewear for a few beats of stunned silence.
Letting out a tiny, strangled scream of panic, Azul grabs the bowl of icing and thrusts it towards Idia, “My glasses!! Idia!! You have to fix them!!
With an arrogant grin on his face, Idia folds his arms over his chest, “Sorry to burst your bubble Mr. I’m-not-a-cheater, but I’m not an optometrist. So there’s no way I could fix your totally normal eyeglasses.” His eyes widen with glee and he sharply tilts his head, making himself look like some kind of demented owl, “Unless, that’s not the case and there’s something electronic in those glasses? Like a camera and microphone, perchance??”
Azul narrows his eyes and glares at Idia in silence for several seconds. He then firmly sets the bowl of icing down on the table and sits down with a petulant scoff, “Fine. Be that way. I’ll finish this gingerbread house brilliantly and without any help.” He swiftly looks up and addresses the rest of the group loudly and defiantly, “As I always intended and have been this whole time!” Turning back to his work, Azul squints shortsightedly and squeezes a few messy lines of icing on his gingerbread structure.
With a weary sigh, Idia shakes his head and drops back down into his seat. He mutters to himself in a voice inaudible to the others, “Even if the camera and mic are broken, you can still use the glasses for your vision…?”
Wind God
Tumblr media
This is inspired by @heyheydidjaknow Good Wine story so it’s a yandere Venti x reader.
She helped me with the tense shifts and gave advice on how to make this sound more creative, as it was previously very stiff and written as if it were an essay. I’m not a writer, but I really wanted to give my own take on this plot.
The image above was created using artbreeder. I tried my best to make it look like the Decarabian Tower.
Link to the original: Good Wine
Word count: 3.330
Tumblr media
You woke up with a jolt, startled by the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance. You blinked a few times and sat up, feeling a surge of panic as you realized you had no idea where you were or how you got there. Looking around you noticed you were lying inside some kind of tower surrounded by swirling air currents where huge rocks made up the area, and a semi-transparent platform with a strange teal seal engraved on it was underneath.
You scrambled to your feet, feeling dizzy and disoriented. The platform resembled glass and you felt as if it would shatter if you stayed on it any longer.
‘’Oh!’’ Someone spoke, breaking the silence. ‘’You’re awake. Are you okay? I didn’t expect you to recover so soon.’’
You cast a glance at the person in front of you; their calm demeanor distinctly contrasted with your current state of panic.
‘’What’s going on? Where am I?’’ You asked. ‘’What am I doing here?’’
Venti didn’t answer right away; his gaze fixed on you as he took in your puzzled expression. His features softened, and after a brief pause, he reached out his hand towards you. ‘’Please, let me explain.’’
You hesitantly eyed his outstretched hand, unsure whether to stay where you were or approach him. Despite having someone familiar next to you, you were still on high alert.
After taking a deep breath to calm your nerves, you decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. You grasped his hand and sat next to him, keeping your distance.
‘’I should begin by saying that I mean no harm to you. You’re a person who has a heart of gold, and I cherish you deeply. Your presence in my life has been nothing but joy so far. You’re kind, compassionate, and selfless. You’re empathetic to others' feelings, and you were always there for those in need,’’ he paused. ‘’You were always there for me.’’
The wind around you two got calmer the more he poured his feelings into words.
‘’I wonder if you’ve ever noticed this. Perhaps my behavior made it obvious, but I’m not human,’’ he said, turning to face the other way while fidgeting with his cape. ‘’I am the Anemo Archon; I have taken the form of a human to talk to people. I know it’s difficult to understand, but in all my years of existence, I’ve never felt this way before.’’ Pausing, he bit his lip and looked at you. ‘’Despite my divine nature, I am capable of emotions just as humans are. In other words, I caught feelings for you, and I can’t bear the thought of living without you.’’
Venti scooted closer to you and placed his hand on yours. ‘’There hasn’t been a single day when I haven’t thought of you.’’ His eyes showed that familiar sparkle that you had seen many times before. ‘’Do you remember that time at the cathedral trying to avoid Barbara by hiding behind the pillars? Or when I asked you to meet me at Windrise for a walk? You ran to hug me and we ended up tripping and falling into the pond.’’ He let out a laugh. ‘’We walked all the way to Starsnatch Cliff in our wet clothes just to look at the stars.’’ He looked at you, trying to meet your eyes. ‘’I’m grateful I got to meet and spend my time with such a wonderful person like you, YN.’’
You tried to process his words, but the weight of his confession was overwhelming.
‘’And you brought me here to tell me all of this?’’
He let out a deep sigh. ‘’I… I hope that at some point in your life you’ll end up feeling the same way about me, how I feel about you.’’ He extended his hand to caress your cheek. ‘’And with you here, I won’t have to worry about anybody else taking you away from me.’’ He continued. ‘’I am well aware that my actions are selfish—they even go against my very own principles. However… I couldn’t help but act upon them.’’ He looked at you. ‘’Tell me, YN, is it unethical for a God to have romantic feelings for a mortal?’’
You quickly stood up. You scanned your surroundings more carefully now that you were fully awake, but this place looked unlike anything you had ever seen before.
‘’Where are we?’’ You asked, your tone firm.
Venti tried to remain calm, lest you do something drastic.
‘’We’re in Old Mondstadt. Specifically, on the Decarabian Tower.’’ He answered, trying not to appear bothered by your constant pacing around the seal. ‘’I thought this would be the perfect place to have this conversation without anybody bothering us. Plus, the view up here is amazing, don’t you think?’’ He cast a glance at you, but judging by your expression, his attempt to lighten up the mood did not work.
You turned away from him and hugged yourself tightly, trying to alleviate the anxiety that had been building up inside you.
Venti stood up from the floor, his movements gentle and deliberate. He approached you from behind and wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to his chest. He nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck, making you shiver. ‘’I’m sorry.’’ He muttered. ‘’I would never have wished to make you feel this way.’’
You stood frozen, feeling a lump in your throat, unable to answer. Soon, tears stream down your face and fall on his sleeve, soaking it. He turned you around, placed his hand on the back of your head, and hugged you tighter before saying in a low voice, ‘’I love you, YN. I will do everything I can to make this work, to make you happy.’’ He promised. ‘’I swear on my own life I’ll do anything for you.’’
The tears continued to flow as you struggled to maintain your composure. You couldn’t understand why the remaining years of your short life had been ripped away so cruelly.
Venti stepped back, withdrawing himself from you. ‘’I’ve got to take care of some things; one of them is bringing your stuff here. I won’t be long; please wait for me.’’ He took your hand in his and squeezed it before he snapped his fingers. You felt a gust of wind that made you close your eyes instinctively, and after you opened them, he was gone, leaving tiny feathers behind.
‘’Fuck.’’ You cursed under your breath in frustration as you wiped your tears.
-
Looking around the tower, you noticed there wasn’t just one wind barrier surrounding it but several of varying sizes that seemed to have space between them. You still had the wind glider with you, which gave you an idea; perhaps you could use it to escape the tower. After you got it out, you grabbed onto one of the tower’s pillars and looked down. There didn’t appear to be a bottom to this tower; regardless, if you were to fall, you definitely would not survive this.
With all your courage, you ran and tried to glide through between two wind barriers, but you immediately panicked as the wind glider was violently shaken. After several minutes of battle and when you felt the exhaustion take over your body, somehow, you finally ended up on the other side of the barrier. When you landed on one of the ruins, you saw just how damaged the surroundings were. It looked like an abandoned village but on a larger scale. With the wind glider still behind your back, you carefully descended even further. Once down, you frantically looked around for a way out.
The crumbling remnants lay spread across the landscape, a haunting reminder of a past era. Nature had begun to reclaim what was once grand and imposing, as vines made their way through cracks in the weathered stones. The overgrown foliage scratched at your skin, and the fallen debris threatened to trip you up with every step you took.
You noticed a path that led out of the ruins and follow it without hesitation, hoping it will bring you to freedom. As you moved through the crumbling structures, the air became heavy with an eerie silence. The vibrant sounds of life were absent and replaced by the faint rustling of leaves and the echo of your footsteps, amplifying the feeling of solitude and isolation.
Just as you were becoming accustomed to the silence, a crack of thunder rang out once again. Startled, you continued along the path, but were soon confronted by a ruin guard.
Quickly hiding behind a fallen pillar, you peeked out and saw it walk past you. It seemed to be unaware of your presence, its footsteps fading into the distance. You tried to steady your breathing and calm your racing heart as you used this time to look around for a way out. Luckily, you spotted a cave that was situated very high up. The foliage on the boulders could be used to climb up to it.
You thought you were safe as you darted from one ruin to another, but the ruin guard locked on to you. You heard a loud and ominous beeping before the machine fired missiles at you, leaving you no chance of survival.
Feeling a strong gust of wind surround you, you are met with Venti’s form materializing between you and the machine. He was preventing the projectiles from reaching you both by creating a wind barrier. They eventually exploded on the barrier, dispersing debris and dust around. Your heart pounded in your chest as you realized the danger you narrowly avoided.
You saw him move his hand in a slashing motion, successfully splitting the ruin guard in two like it was butter with the help of the wind.
He turned around to face you, his expression a mixture of concern and frustration. ‘’How did you get down here? What were you thinking? I told you to wait for me!’’ Venti tried very hard to maintain his composure, but he ended up yelling at you. ‘’I could have lost you!’’ You felt his arms wrap tightly around you, his grip almost desperate.
You pushed him away and shouted, your voice filled with anger. ‘’What was I thinking? What were you thinking when you brought me here? Trapping me against my will, isolating me from the rest of the world? Do you think I will show gratitude for saving me right now?’’
Thunder rumbles yet again, and the rain begins to pour heavily, drenching the desolate ruins. You backed away and ran towards the boulders beneath the cave, but another wind barrier stopped you.
‘’Let me take you back.’’ He spoke.
You simply walked around the barrier and approached the foliage on the boulders as you attempted to climb up, but were pushed back by the wind. Rage welled up inside you as you realized that escape was futile. How does one escape from a God?
As you struggle to get up to your feet, the rain continues to fall, soaking the ground beneath you. Despite the powerful winds summoned by the Anemo Archon to impede your escape, your determination remains unshaken. You lock eyes with him, a mix of defiance and resilience in your gaze.
‘’YN…’’ Venti’s voice is pleading. He moved closer and reached out a hand to help you up, but you moved away from him while you were still on the ground, supporting your body on your elbows.
‘’I won’t let you take me back,’’ you stated firmly. ‘’I won’t be confined by you. This is not the life I desire or deserve.’’
The wind howls around you, mirroring Venti’s internal conflict. His gaze pleads for you to give in. Seeing as you are not up for negotiation, he withdraws his hand with a heavy sigh and takes a step forward.
As you pushed yourself up from the ground, you immediately took off running in a different direction. However, he quickly caught up with you and now stood in front of you, which caused you to trip and fall backward.
‘’Let’s go back, please? It’s raining a lot. You will end up catching a cold.’’ He attempted to lift you by grabbing your hand, but you pushed him away.
‘’I fucking hate you!’’ You screamed. You tried to make sense of your surroundings, as they now appeared blurry. ‘’We were friends; we had a good relationship. Why did you have to ruin it?’’ A shuddering filled your chest, and a choked wheeze escaped your throat. ‘’Why? Why did you do this? You want me to love you back? What cost you to try and build that sort of relationship with me the normal way?’’ While you yelled, you caught sight of a stone that looked like an arrowhead lay on the ground.
He tried to approach you once more, and without thinking, you grabbed the stone and stabbed him in the shoulder with as much force as you could. Venti breathed in sharply and stumbled a couple of steps back as the arrowhead pierced his shoulder.
‘’Do not approach me.’’ You spat.
He pulled on the protruding part of the arrowhead and got it out, causing some blood to spill onto the ground.
You tried to move away from him with your elbows as you were still on the ground. They started to bruise, and your arms eventually gave out, which caused your body to fall on your back. You felt completely exhausted.
As you lifted your head, you noticed Venti come closer to you while he held his wounded shoulder. Your vision became too blurry at this point. You quickly became lightheaded and passed out.
-
You opened your eyes, feeling a dull ache in your head. You grunted as you lifted your arm and placed it on your head. You tried to lift yourself by propping yourself on your elbows, but felt someone ease you back onto the pillow and kiss your forehead.
‘’You shouldn’t get up so quickly. You’ll pass out again.’’ Venti insisted.
‘’What are you doing?’’ You asked, your voice hoarse from screaming earlier.
He went back to the end of the bed and carefully wrapped the bandage around your knee, then cut the excess with scissors. ‘’Taking care of your injuries.’’
Disregarding his advice, you lift yourself and sit up. You reach out to your knee and feel the bandage around it. As you do so, you also notice your bandaged elbows. ‘’Why? I tried to—‘’ The room spun around you, your head felt heavy and your vision went fuzzy for a few seconds, almost pushing you to the side if it weren’t for Venti catching you right away.
‘’What did I tell you? You’re not listening to me.’’
You gripped his shirt while trying to sit up straight to regain your balance. ‘’I tried to kill you.’’ You finally said.
‘’So you did.’’
‘’Then why are you helping me?’’
He laid you down for a moment, took a glass from the table beside the bed and poured water into it from a jar before he helped you up again and handed it to you. ‘’Isn’t it obvious? Loving someone implies caring for them.’’
As you drank the water, you looked at his bloody shirt. He noticed your attention fixed on his shoulder. ‘’It’s fine. Injuring me with such a lame weapon has barely any impact on my vessel.’’ He furrowed his eyebrows. ‘’That said, I hope you’ll refrain from trying anything like that again in the future.’’
‘’I can’t promise anything.’’
Venti sighed and then looked at your bandaged knee, elbows, and the Band-Aid on your cheek, nodded in approval and stood up, taking with him the first aid kit that he had brought to patch you up.
‘’Where are we this time?’’ You asked him, placing the empty glass on the table.
‘’We are in a house that’s in a realm separated from the outside world. Things like time and weather work a little differently here.’’ He put the bandages and scissors inside the box and continued. ‘’It’s called the Serenitea Pot; I’m sure you heard of it. It was given to me a while ago by an old friend. I didn’t have a use for it before, but I certainly do now. ‘’He explained. ‘’I planned to bring you here anyway, but I thought it would be best to begin our conversation where we first started to explain who I was. I figured it would help you connect the dots faster.’’
You got up from the bed and looked around. It was a small bedroom with a twin bed and two nightstands on either side. There were two windows, one behind the bedpost and another next to it. A rectangular desk with a potted plant, candles, and books on top was beneath the second window. The bed and desk were separated by a yellow changing screen, creating an illusion of two distinct room sections. You also spotted a fancy ottoman at the foot of the bed, a wardrobe a few steps away, and the exit door next to it.
‘’This place is safe. You are free to roam around the house and even go outside. I took the time to decorate it in a way that I thought you would like. ‘’Venti’s speech caught you off guard, making you jump. ‘’You can’t leave this realm without my assistance. It has everything you need. I will bring more things from the outside world for decoration as time goes on.’’ He smiled at you.
You walked up to the window and leaned against the desk beneath it. It looked like you were located on an island, and the house seemed to be on a small hill.
‘’I’ll go change and then prepare you some food.’’ He gestured to the door. ‘’It’s been a while since you last ate anything. You can use the shower after eating. There’s one on this floor, right in front of your room, or you could use the one in mine that’s upstairs.’’ He winked at you.
You reached for the vase.
‘’Alright, alright.’’ He held his hands up. ‘’Let’s not resort to violence again…’’
He then exited the room, giving you some peace a quiet. You took a deep breath and gathered your thoughts before you returned your gaze to the room. You couldn’t deny that Venti put effort into making a comfortable space for you, but you weren’t happy about being imprisoned here.
You walked over to the wardrobe and opened it to find a variety of clothes arranged inside. They were all your clothes, neatly folded and hung.
After a brief inspection of the wardrobe, you then crossed the room to the desk beneath the window. The books that adorned its surface drew your attention. You took one book and flipped through its pages, discovering that it was a collection of short stories by various authors. It was a wise choice on Venti’s part to provide you with intellectual stimulation and entertainment.
Next, you decided to go outside after a few moments of exploration and stepped out of the exit door onto a stone pathway that led down the hill. It was surrounded by lush vegetation and vibrant flowers. The hill was full of cedar and birch trees that filtered the sunlight through the leaves, casting a glow around the entire area. One would say this could be the place of your dreams, and you would have been content with staying here if it wasn’t for the situation you were in.
You deviated from the pathway to go lower down the hill and reached the sea surrounding the island. The view was breathtaking, with crystal clear water stretching out as far as the eye could see. There was no sign of other land, so there was no way for you to leave. Not that it would matter anyway, considering you were separated from the outside world.
Today marks another day that I spent away from United Kwangya, among all other days that I elected to do the same as well. After that one huge major event with regards to Dawn, it really opened huge ways and opportunities for me to catch up with my friends that are not from the new group chat. Yujin was a definite special case; I’ve never felt so grounded again after talking to a friend such as her. It was as if I was on another soft reset with my life that I can finally move forward with what’s given to me. Well, even with that, I still don’t know how else to come back with the rest of the group chat members, in the event that I really decide to come back anyway. Somehow the absence of closure between me and Soyeon is bothering me even in the smallest ways. I still find ways to be worried about her even if I know she’s not thinking the exact same way towards me.
I don’t exactly even know why I’m deliberately distancing myself from the group. I guess I’m shy and still possibly embarrassed with what happened with their friend but then again… it’s not as if it’s entirely their fault that we broke up. It must be a bad thing on their perspective, but I must admit that I am finding solace being away from the limelight that is them. That way I’ve been catching up on a lot of stuff that I can’t normally do when I’m with hanging out with them. The only thing bad was… how am I supposed to head back now that I feel like I’m so far off? I’m sure Kyungsoo might have gotten a bad impression towards me nowadays, especially when I practically declined all their invites for the past days the moment I lost my romantic link on the group chat. The drinking sessions were pretty understandable and yet even I repeatedly declined to share lunch with them, only to regret it later in the afternoon. That seemed to be a repeating cycle that they just halted from asking me again.
The skies were as bright as a day could possibly be. The usual carpet of clouds were absent from the early atmosphere as I boarded the train for the morning. Joohyun-noona, the hardworking woman she is, left me with a prepared meal for the day ahead as she dealt with her job so early on.
Honestly, she’s a huge reason why even with this seemingly lonely life, I don’t feel alone; being able to have some personal space with myself felt so powerful because of everything that was happening around me.
Here I sat again close towards the window of the train watching as the soft scenery pass by in front of me. With the soft barrage of ballad music, of course the idiot in me could feel like it was a scene from a drama, or for that context it was from those sad music videos. All of the things I’ve done to lead up to this point had started to come unto me or I guess everything just started to sink in. Listening to sad songs this early in the morning really was a bad idea but I can’t seem to get rid of it.
Nevertheless, I exited the terminal that morning feeling rather downtrodden. It was ironic, considering I was initially so enthusiastic to leave the apartment earlier that day for a bright morning stroll. Now, I feel like I am at that rainy breakup day again. It was one of those times that your inner consciousness start to get the better of you, with all the actions you did out of impulse starting to sink its teeth onto your skin, making you wonder if it was the right decision; including how different your life had headed to in case you chose the other path.
What the hell am I doing?
I need to fix this mood I intentionally created later within the day because I can’t stay like this until I go home. It would be worse than having to control an uncontrollable mood swing, especially when I don’t have that much of people to talk to. Considering most of my days recently were either anchored on studying (and eventually sleeping) at the school library or doing the exact opposite of that and heading on off a net café and play with Hyojong for what it’s worth… I just might do the latter to shake my mind off of things. I’m veering off into dangerous territory that I don’t have plans on visiting anyway.
“Finding a perfect person definitely involves a bound of luck as well as a good stroke of fate. You’ll never know when you’ll meet her, or if you’ve even met her already. The range of your destiny could be someone you’ve already spent a long time being with to someone you accidentally tripped over on the way home. It’s easier once you let your heart welcome it instead of your mind.”
I guess that works out like that. Of course, Yujin’s voice coming out of nowhere was a good plus especially on a time like this. Odd, but definitely welcome; it was better than me just indulging on my own thoughts.
Man, what am I even thinking about? I did those things for a reason. I’m here in my situation now because I chose it. I just need to keep things together and move on with what’s ahead. Yujin said it herself; it’s easier if I let my heart lead me instead of my mind. I seem to be using my head a lot recently, so I might as well think with my heart, I guess.
I made a mental note to message Hyojong to hang out on later on that day, as well as a reminder to not listen to sad, lonely songs when boarding a train in the morning. I hope that I won’t repeat this really drying start of a day anytime soon.
---HOURS LATER---
Considering he never really wrought plans to join anyone else in the lunch, as the noon approached, Yoon Jae-in struggled once again to find an eatery that would serve two purposes for him: be as quiet and as peaceful as it could in order for him to continue the series he began to watch, while in turn be on a secluded place that he can spend it peacefully without anyone recognizing him. In his head, he already was on utmost priority to finish the series, so he might as well go all in and generate a good atmosphere for himself. Of course, he had to give another excuse to Shinwon. As much as it really did not feel good to be shutting out on his original friends from high school, he wanted to think of it as some sort of a ‘recovery period’ even if there was not entirely anything he wanted to recover from, particularly on that doomed relationship with Jeon Soyeon.
Also, Jae-in managed to recover the mess of a mind he had earlier that day that he wanted to reward himself of what he originally intended to do earlier in the morning.
Yoon Jae-in exited the school library after spending the free time catching some unnecessary sleep, with the place unintentionally being his new best friend on recent days. Of course, with his last encounter on the school’s local athenaeum ending on an awkward note, it was bound for himself to be cautious. However, there was a part of him that hoped to see the girl he bumped once again; not to continue talking to her but to apologize on a better note and not on a short rush. It did felt like a stretch, including most of the thought he’s been putting just to evade the encounter with his friends, but he still wanted to count on the chances it came with.
That day, however, fate had other plans for him.
Noon approached on the clock and Jae-in still had no real idea where else he could spend the lunch on. All of the places he’s been through felt very dull on his taste buds with how often he’s been going there recently. His body, especially his tongue, craved more than just a similar taste. In a quick decision to cut all thought of places to head on to, he went with possibly the least interesting place to in for a North Liner: The school cafeteria.
Going back to NLIU’s cafeteria with his recent memory of Soyeon’s breakup there was perhaps the least motivating thing to have with him. However, in that current moment it was the most plausible option. Not only was it conveniently nearer than anywhere else, but also given a good spot he was practically invisible to the rest of the school. At least for that day, he could do and watch the planned series to let time pass a bit better. The best part was if it would unfold uninterrupted.
However, it was already established that fate had different plans for him. The chances of Yoon Jae-in getting what he wanted that day were as slim as it could get.
Apparently, the day he decided to head onto the cafeteria was also the day that the school’s athletes were practicing hard for the respective inter-school games. That unfortunately unleashed a huge load of people towards the cafeteria for their exclusive lunch courtesy of the university itself. With such a huge privilege given to them, Jae-in could see why most of the white-walled architecture of the cafeteria began to be filled with jerseys and uniforms of mixed white, blue, and gold scattered all throughout. It was difficult to even check on a vacant seat and table with the flood of student athletes all over the place. Jae-in could only imagine the non-athlete students already occupying the tables to be there way before the commotion even began.
Well, I guess things really went south this day. I don’t want to go to another place because I’m already feeling my stomach curl out of hunger, so I have no choice but to endure it.
Is there a place to eat here though?
As much as the place was filled with noises and commotion that he could even barely follow through, the queue line towards the lunch was far more open that he initially thought. In fact, he was not even standing five minutes onto the queue of four people ahead of him before he finally got to order. It was about in just a moment’s notice that he finally had a tray of seafood and all the good stuff that came with it. Now comes the harder, probably most important part of that lunch out which was looking for a seat to eat comfortably. But like anyone else, Jae-in thought that perhaps walking around like an idiot holding a tray of food on his hands ought to shake some of the occupants already sitting there, especially those who are done and have no business to be there any further in hopes of giving the seat to someone who actually needs it.
He persistently walked around the cafeteria but to no avail. It was perhaps where the canteen received the full saturation of the athletes, as everyone one else were seated in threes or fours with a potential vacant seat filled with all their bags stacked on top of each other. The only real option was to walk upward, ascending the metal stairs that headed to the second floor. Similar to most of the aesthetic of the university, it was a typical loft design wide enough to have two tables to stay close to each other, while still maintaining that wide spread view to the ocean of blue and white below.
Jae-in scanned the place once again, this time most of the seats were at least occupied by his fellow, non-university sports-affiliated colleagues. Despite that, most of the place was still filled with a lot of people with their friends and left no real opening spots for him to even dine with. As he treaded towards the other half of the overlooking terrace, he started to lose hope and begin to get desperate; wondering if there’s at least a good amount of people there who would not mind a third or a fourth stranger eating in the same table with them. He never thought that actually looking for a seat on the place he seldom went to would end up to be that stressful.
And then he found it.
There was a table at perhaps the farthest, most hidden corner of the cafeteria that only housed a single person with a vacant seat next to them. The table, for the most part, was filled with various papers and fairly familiar book covers. Jae-in turned towards the person seated… and his shoulders immediately sank.
…Or rather, his heart skipped a beat because he instantly recognized who the person was. He, however, did not expect to see her on a place like that, precisely on a time like that as well. Perhaps fate’s playful string-pulling brought him to that exact time to meet her once again.
This is going to get awkward, but I have no other choice. I’m already hungry and I need a seat.
Jae-in closed his eyes, gave one last sliver of encouragement for himself and then proceeded to head on off ahead to speak to the girl in a rather shivering voice.
“Umm… excuse me… do you mind if I take a seat…?”
---
My heart was pounding so hard inside my ribcage I could already feel it bursting out of my body. Who knew that asking for a small favour took all my courage into doing so? It kinda shows that I don’t do this too often to get practice.
Maybe she’d recognize me…. I don’t know if it’s better that she did or she didn’t.
As much as it took almost all of my effort to even ask that question out, the girl seated opposite me sat silently, clearly occupied on whatever she was writing on the table. Upon closer inspection I realized that she had her ears covered with earphones; the constant supply of music perhaps cleverly eliminating all sorts of noise that came from the cafeteria. It was probably something I would do as well, so I was not really surprised that she didn’t hear me. Well, the problem was how to reiterate the same message without sounding really rude. The girl was so immersed in summarizing a text from a book, including drawing what looked to me as interconnected hexagons; a discarded scientific calculator lay next to her papers housing a solution with eight decimal places after a scientific notation.
I moved to gently tap on the surface of the table, just enough to get my message across while not being entirely brash about it at the same time. She seemed to have gotten my message as she raised her head up, revealing a really beautiful face hidden behind huge, thin-rimmed spectacles as well as a crown of wavy, black hair. Her face was small, enveloping an eye-catching visual composed of a small face, heart-shaped lips and small details of beauty marks that added to her really alluring presence. She supplied me with a completely innocent and inquiring gaze which quickly unfolded into self-consciousness when she realized that I stood there with a food tray on my hand.
“Y-yes…?” she said with that same, soft-toned voice, almost barely even audible with the crowd of the cafeteria below. “Can I help you?”
“U-umm… sorry for disturbing you b-but… the r-rest of the place is full so I wonder… I w-was wondering if you’re with someone else…”
Holy shit my voice is creaking so hard I feel like I’m going to faint. How do I make it sound as if I’m not hitting on her?
“I mean… you’re the only table w-with f-free chairs so I w-wonder if there’s s-someone else… everywhere e-else is f-full so…”
The girl’s humble yet confused gaze lingered on my eyes for a good while before she caught of the situation and nodded softly. Her eyebrows rose as she did with her body, straightening herself up from the slightly slouched position she was in previously.
“Oh, of course… P-please go ahead. I’m not with s-someone. Please take a seat.”
“T-thank you…”
I was really relieved to find out that she was alone, but now that I was offered the free seat while she moved the rest of her books to give me space, I felt so shy all of a sudden. My body moved ever so slowly to fit my butt onto the stool, and I could have sworn my entire being was shaking down to my very core. I never figured that it was way more awkward to sit opposite her after just interrupting her out of the blue. She seemed so concentrated before I shook her off of her trance.
What should I do now?
Do I talk to her even if know that she’s working on something?
I placed my tray over the space she cleared for me and awkwardly shifted my chopsticks to begin eating. Initially, I expected her to delve back right into the work that she was doing and pay no mind to my presence there, which was fine by my part considering I was the one sharing a table with her. However, she instead shifted her gaze from the tables that surrounded us before knitting her eyebrows in another expression of confusion.
“Umm… I t-think you were d-doing something… P-please don’t m-mind me. I’ll m-make sure that I won’t make any noise, whatsoever.”
“Oh, no, please don’t think about it that way,” she said with a wave of her hand and then supplying me with a very gummy smile. “I am just surprised with how crowded the place had been since I came here. I have lost track of time since I ate about an hour ago.”
She’s been here for an hour?
“Yeah about that… there’s an event and the canteen is teeming with school athletes for their lunch. You know… athlete privileges and all that… Umm… t-the tables below were pretty much occupied by t-them so I… I came up here…”
“That’s… wow… I’m sorry for not responding to you on the first time,” she once again said. “I thought you were just passing by close to my table… I did not intend myself to be rude for not responding immediately or anything…”
“Oh no, please don’t… it’s totally fine. I’m… I’m already comfortably seated here so… I guess it is okay.”
Fuck, it feels so awkward to eat right next to her. It’s as if I just woke her up and there’s nothing she could do afterwards.
A prolonged and awkward silence ensued after that exchange, which mostly revolved around her organizing the stuff that ended up being messy while she was studying. It looked pretty normal to me, but with how frantic she was on gathering the right things to put on her bag, I thought that she was already leaving. I had that idea until her organizing eventually ended on a single notebook as well as a pen placed over the table. I felt really awkward paying attention to her that long that I merely focused back on my meal.
And then, the tables were turned. As I moved to eat the rest of my lunch, she already had her eyes planted on me. Her gaze was so strong that I could feel my senses tingling.
I raised my head up and our eyes immediately met. This time, her expression was curiosity painted over her face. She eyed me with concern yet it was so full of inquiry.
I really don’t know what else to respond to that so I just smiled and hope that I didn’t get any residue food sauce on my mouth as well as of my face.
Don’t make this weird. I have to ask her something.
“Is… is everything alright?” I asked out of curiosity as well as wonder.
“Oh umm… sorry… I… sorry if I stared too long but… okay, I need to ask you because you look so familiar… I feel like we’ve met somewhere that I just could not remember, but I could be wrong. Have we met before?”
There it is. I’m glad that she opened it up. At least it would make this conversation a lot less awkward…
“Actually we have… I’m actually the guy that bumped you at the library before.”
---
The young girl’s eyes widened in surprise, apparently dropping the pen she was holding down towards the surface of the table. She held her mouth with her right hand as she supplied Yoon Jae-in with a look of utmost shock.
“Omo, is that true? Are you really that guy from the library?”
“I… well I am,” Jae-in replied with a chuckle, mimicking her movements by placing his chopsticks on the now-empty food tray. “It’s… honestly it was a part of the reason why I elected to… to interact. I figured it would not be entirely that… first of a meeting, I guess…”
“Oh my, I’m so sorry I didn’t recognize you! I knew you had that sense of familiarity with you, and that you’re not just someone who had a familiar face to begin with… I knew it. I knew that I talked to you from somewhere; I just can’t quite put my finger on when we talked. Oh my, I should have known!”
“No, no, it’s fine… it was just easier for my part, I guess. It’s no big deal. Besides, you seem to be more…”
Jae-in glanced towards the bag that she had with her.
“…You seemed to be more occupied on a lot of stuff than me, so there’s that as well.”
Jae-in’s so-called ‘library girl’ returned his statement with another gummy smile, unconsciously tucking her hair behind her right ear until she eventually excused it with a soft head scratch.
“It’s… it’s nothing… It’s crazy that… that we met almost in the exact same way. We saw each other again when I’m occupied with all my academic stuff… you must think that I’m a book worm or something…”
“If that’s the case I don’t really think that it’s necessarily bad… plus, I don’t really think that way. We’re all looking for some ways to study, right? I guess I’ll just have to thank that you’re not doing it at the library during this time. At lease I got a seat for it.”
 “I can’t agree more to that… otherwise you’d end up eating while standing, right?”
With that, the pair of them smiled at each other and then proceeded to laugh.
I’m feeling so strangely at ease with this conversation. It’s amazing.
“So,” Jae-in opened up, now in better confidence with the comfort of the conversation. “I recognized some books you had a while back; including those when I accidentally collided into you before… are you studying in engineering as well?”
She nodded in response, rather enthusiastically that time which was followed oddly by a short silence.
“Yeah… I’m taking Chemical Engineering. How ‘bout you; are you in engineering as well?”
“Actually I am… I don’t think it shows that much but I actually am.”
“Ah, I had that impression about you. What major?”
“Haven’t quite decided yet but I’m heavily leaning towards Mechanical. It kind of interests me to do so.”
“I see… if you’re still not decided, does that mean you’re in your second year?”
“Umm… yeah…? You talk… as if you’re… not… are you?”
Jae-in’s  library girl nodded silently and rather softly, carefully retreating from her chair as she moved to recline on the backrest, all while taking her glasses off in the process. She then rested her elbow on the table’s surface and proceeded to support her chin with her palm. It was, especially to Jae-in, an act that was unexpectedly cute; quite more emphasized on the curiously amused expression that came with it. However, it made things a bit awkward in the silence, not until she finally spoke once again.
“I think, judging by the subjects alone, that I’m actually a year older than you… I can’t be sure.”
Oh, is that right?
Wait…
Fuck, I’ve been talking so informally since I began to sit with her!
I didn’t know that she was my noona!
“Oh sorry n—“
“Wait, I know what you’re thinking and don’t proceed with it,” Library Girl interrupted while raising the hand that was not under her chin. “It is fine and I didn’t find you rude. It made the conversation a lot easier to follow as well. And no, you don’t need to change how you talk to me. I’m quite young, maybe started school earlier than most would so I bet if I’m older than you, then it maybe just be a couple of months so no big deal.”
“A-are you sure about that…? It would not be weird…?”
She shook her head.
“It would be weirder if you decide to call me ‘noona’ now that I just asked you to drop it, wouldn’t it? It’s okay. I really don’t mind.”
“Okay then…”
RING
Whatever saves Jae-in thought after that sudden revelation, it was immediately flushed down the drain as he was interrupted by the school bell. Clearly, it was the hourly school reminder bell, quite more prominent now that he was in the main building of the campus. It was so shrill and loud that it stunned his ears for a short bit while it lasted.
To his surprise, Library Girl actually moved to gather the final pieces of her school supplies into one pile and carefully placed them back on the bag, along with the other books and research notes she had when Jae-in first arrive there. She then proceeded to brush her shirt clean, shook her hair off in waves to even them out, and then proceeded to speak to Jae-in once again.
“It was nice to finally meet you, but I’m afraid that I’ll have to go now. I actually was staying here to kill time because I have a bit of a free time before my subject. So, at least then you can enjoy the table to yourself.”
“Oh, no worries… thank you for letting me sit down and chat for a bit. At least I didn’t bump you again.”
She chuckled
 “At least this time, we mutually bumped into each other, right?”
She finally stood up and supplied him a smile once more like it was a farewell, and then moved to pick up her food tray devoid of dishes left waiting on the side.
“Wait, wait,” Jae-in interrupted. “Please just leave that. I’ll take care of it once I turn in mine. It’s just the least I can do to thank you for letting me share the table with you. I got this.”
“Alright, alright,” she replied as she withdrew her outstretched hand from the tray. “I appreciate that. You don’t really need to thank me, but I appreciate it nonetheless. I’ll be the one to thank you. I’ll be heading off then. Please enjoy your day!”
Jae-in and the aforementioned Library Girl mutually bowed in courtesy with the young girl replacing the chair she used back on the table’s seat. She then turned around the round perimeter of the table and passed Yoon Jae-in one last time, moving towards the very entrance path that he came in almost half an hour ago.
And then there was a jolt to the young man’s mind. For a split second, he felt his heart stop upon realizing a very vital thing he nearly missed on that very encounter.
“Wait, please wait,” he said once again. That time he finally rose from his chair and darted towards the young girl in attempt to still reach her. Luckily for him, she hadn’t really picked up her pace yet and the two of them met quite a few tables away from where they originally sat on. The Library Girl turned in place to face him once more, her eyes in visible confusion as her face was held in inquiry.
“Sorry,” Jae-in began with nod. “I didn’t get your name last time because I was in such a rush. I can’t just remember you to be the Library Girl from now on, can I?”
She chuckled in response, quite amused with the ample nickname given to her.
“That would be funny if you did remember me that way,” she replied as she finally stretched her hand, offering a handshake to Yoon Jae-in.
“I’m Mina… Myoui Mina. It’s nice to meet you…?”
“Jae-in… Yoon Jae-in…” he finished for her, taking the outstretched hand of Myoui Mina to finally shake it, honestly having her soft palms rest against his to be quite a relieving sensation.
“Yoon Jae-in… okay; I’ll remember that. I’ll make sure to remember you the next time we see each other as well. I’ll see you around, Jae-in. Please take care.”
“See you around, Mina.”
And then he stood there, watching the figure of the one Myoui Mina he just met withdrew her hand and pace out of the cafeteria after him. He didn’t café if he looked weird standing in the middle of the busy crowd or in the view of the currently dining students; he simply had that unexplainable elation upon finally knowing the name of the said girl from the library, finally having a face as well as a name he could include to his memory.
Myoui Mina… that’s a really beautiful name…
