coffee talk - ellie williams
the late summer air might've subconsciously motivated ellie's walk that day, her relaxed demeanour acted as a foolish guise from her anxious thoughts. she usually waited until the last possible minute to leave for class, but something today was different.
maybe she hoped that if she walked around for awhile, her body and mind would tire themselves before class, leaving herself sleepy with concentration instead. maybe she hoped that her early start would somehow prompt a late arrival to class, giving her an excuse to just not go.
ellie sighed, squinting in the sun. it was too early in the semester to start that bad habit.
she came across a little campus cafe on her wander, quickly recognizing it as the one that dina had frequented. she hesitated briefly, trying to peer through the glass windows in a not obvious way. it looked relatively empty, compared to the usual crowd, so ellie dragged herself inside.
the air conditioning instantly hit her warm skin, causing goosebumps on her arms. a small group had claimed a table by a window, chattering away with laptops covering the table top. ellie wasn't exactly sure what she was looking for, and the line was pretty short, not allowing her much time to think. ellie lingered in the doorway, wondering how strange it may appear if she turned on her heel and immediately exited the establishment right after entering, until she heard possibly the sweetest voice to ever hit her ears.
"have a nice day," you regarded softly, handing someone their drink with a quick smile.
you were still relatively new at the job, fumbly and awkward with the interactions. your previous job had sucked. your co-workers were mean, you were paid basically nothing, and you were left with little time to complete assignments. your final straw was getting yelled at over the phone by your manager after calling off of work with the flu.
finally gathering the courage to quit, your friend had rallied you up to work at a campus cafe alongside her. the idea of that sort of work scared you, talking to customers, making drinks, but the pay was good and the hours were flexible. you put in an application and by the end of the week, you had started the training process. it was relatively comfortable, until your friend had suddenly decided to quit and left you alone.
"sorry," she had apologized weakly. "i think i might pick up doordashing or something instead."
you pushed out a quick sigh, drumming your fingers on the counter before plastering a smile on your face, moving to greet the next customer.
ellie craned her neck, trying to see the owner of the voice above the heads of the people that stood in line. once her eyes landed upon you, ellie sucked in a breath. she moved wordlessly into the line, no plan of action in mind.
she watched, dazed, as you entered orders and nodded. when you turned around to grab something and ellie spotted the bow that you were wearing in your hair, her palms began to feel warm. she strained her ears, desperate to hear your voice again above the sound of conversation and the typical coffee shop music.
ellie didn't even notice that there was another person, some guy, also behind the counter until he switched spots with you, greeting a different customer.
fuck, ellie thought, rapidly looking around to watch where you were going. you disappeared into the back, behind a set of secretive doors. ellie's heart sank. she would be up soon, and she didn't even know what she was doing. she didn't want to talk to some random guy.
she just... wanted to talk to some... random girl?
fuck.
someone else wandered into the cafe. ellie contemplated making that person's day, wondering if she should just leave the line. of course she should, this was stupid, but then you reappeared. you were carrying a small brown box, and huffed at a strand of hair that had fallen into your face.
ellie was almost up, and she rapidly began praying to any type of higher power that would listen. please don't let it be the guy, please don't let it be the fucking guy-
"hi," you greeted automatically, restocking a small display of reward punch cards. "what can we get for-" you finally dragged your eyes upwards, freezing at the sight of ellie.
your gaze widened and you mentally cursed yourself for having a horrible poker face. the girl standing in front of you was extremely attractive, to say the very least. you felt trapped in her green-eyed gaze, hand hovering above the cards that you were previously toying with.
ellie cleared her throat, shifting awkwardly on her feet. if anyone's voice matched their appearance perfectly, it was yours. you looked doe-eyed, caught off guard, and ellie's face flushed.
you blinked at the slight cough, snapping back into customer service mode. "what can i get for you?" you asked, pointedly changing the we to i. she had freckles. the smile you offered wasn't forced, but genuine.
fuck. fuck fuck fuck. she had to actually order something, not just stand there and stare at you. it was ellie's turn to be wide eyed, as she scrambled to pinpoint something from the menu. god. she really didn't want to be that person. you had all that time waiting in line, just pick something for christ sake!
you stood awkwardly, smile wavering as you waited for a reply. at least while the cute stranger was distracted by the menu, you could use the opportunity to stare.
mentally, ellie was a mess. she had held the skill of reading for the majority of her life now, but ellie couldn't make sense of a single word that was displayed on the menu. everything blurred together and she could feel your eyes on her as she scrambled for something to say.
"uh, what do you recommend?" ellie questioned, meeting your gaze. her cheeks burned when she noticed that you had winced. ellie wasn't being cute or friendly, she was being annoying. the last thing that you probably wanted was to rattle off a list of seasonal beverages you had been asked to promote. ellie mentally cursed herself, but you were stuttering for an answer before she could take her inquiry back.
"oh! um, well there's the..." you glanced over your shoulder at the seasonal drink specials, and ellie held back a grimace. poor fucking girl, she thought.
your face burned. you were still pretty new to the job, and honestly, penny pinching. despite the few that you've snuck during your shift, you hadn't tried many of the drinks yet. you so badly wanted to have a quick answer, something to impress her with your amazing taste. instead, you faltered, taking too long to answer.
"sorry," you laughed, shaking your head sheepishly. "i'm pretty new to this," you explained, ignoring the stare that you were getting from your co-worker. please don't ask to help me, you silently pleaded. despite the awkwardness of the interaction, you didn't want it to be cut short. you wanted to know if her freckles were always that visible, or if they popped out more due to the summer sun.
"that's okay," ellie said, a little too quickly. she looked down at the nametag that you wore on your apron. your name was written neatly, in your own style with a mix of cursive and regular letters. you had drawn a little flower next to your name.
"that board has some of our summer features though," you explained, finally regaining your footing. you nodded in the direction of a display board. "they're super popular, people really like them. i've tried the lavender one actually, it's super good. uh, we unfortunately don't get the pumpkin spice stuff in for... two more weeks, i think? so... i'm sorry about that," you quietly rambled, wringing your hands.
"pumpkin spice? it's barely september," ellie commented, wrinkling her nose. her attention was drawn to your nails, painted perfectly and neat. she wondered how big of a fool she would be making herself out to be if she attempted to flirt with you.
you shrugged, grinningly bashfully. "it's good," you resigned.
noted, ellie thought. i like pumpkin spice now. ellie opened her mouth to ask about the lavender thing, but the girl behind her in line obnoxiously cleared her throat.
ellie's eyebrows raised and you glanced apologetically at the other girl, who was tapping her foot.
"i'll be right with you," you commented. the girl scoffed and ellie's lips twisted at the sound. you were so sweet, wasting one of your pretty smiles on someone who didn't deserve it.
"yeah, no big deal," the girl replied sarcastically. "it's not like i have a class to get to or anything." she looked around the room, trying to garner support for herself, but no one was paying attention.
"i'll be right with you," you reiterated with a harsher tone. ellie fully blushed, feeling guilty for delaying the interaction. now you were getting backlash and your co-worker was completely eyeing you up, and ellie felt at fault for it. you met her eyes again, apologizing with a sad smile. ellie's grip on the strap of her bag tightened.
"sorry," ellie mumbled as her cheeks burned. "i'll get, um-"
the girl in line sighed again and ellie lost her train of thought, noticing that you were holding back your frustration with a tight smile. finally, a good idea emerged in ellie's head. she knew dina's order by heart. dina was certainly a creature of habit, at least when it came to her food and drink orders. ellie had heard dina order a million times.
ellie confidently allowed dina's coffee order to roll off of her tongue. you blinked in surprise as she gave specific directions, a direct contrast to how clueless she had seemed just a moment ago.
you frantically entered the order into the system, scared of making a mistake and looking dumb. "hey," you called softly, gaining the attention of your co-worker. you recited the order to him, to which he nodded in understanding.
"what's your name?" you asked politely. you grabbed a sharpie, waiting.
ellie's heart skipped a beat and she thought maybe she would have stood a chance, until she realized that you were asking for the drink and not because you genuinely wanted to know.
except, really, you did want to know. having to ask was just a perk.
"ellie."
"ellie," you repeatedly warmly. it was the best thing that ellie had ever heard. "i like it," you mumbled, grabbing a cup from a stack.
"thank you," ellie mumbled, watching as you wrote her name on the cup. your teeth pulled at your bottom lip in concentration, determined to use your best writing. once you had gotten to the second L, you looked up.
"oh," you realized sheepishly. "you can go wait at the end," you gently instructed her. ellie could've facepalmed herself for her stupidity, but didn't want to drag herself away from your presence. ellie wanted to say something more, but failed. she did, however, feel as though she had caused you enough trouble for the day. ellie gave you an awkward smile, as genuine as she could manage, before moving to step away.
once ellie had turned away, you realized your mistake.
"oh! wait!" you called, your voice louder than it had been all day. ellie froze, wondering if she had done something wrong or maybe you wanted to ask for her number.
the girl who was supposed to be next groaned.
"i'm so sorry," you whispered once ellie's body was in front of you again. "i forgot to have you pay," you muttered your confession, humiliated as your co-worker made a tsssk sound.
ellie thought that after this, she might drop out of college and move somewhere, maybe the country. somewhere far away from civilization.
"fuck," ellie swore under her breath, quickly rummaging through her bag for her wallet. "sorry," she said. you gave her the total, eyes lingering on ellie's tattoo while she swiped her card.
"um, do you want a reward card?" you asked, your voice sounding more robotic compared to before.
ellie was ready to automatically say no, but she took in the sight of your rounded cheeks and bashful smile.
"i would love one," ellie replied, and she felt as though her body jolted when your fingers grazed hers, handing over the card.
"if you buy nine drinks, the tenth one is on us!" you chirped, clearly haven gave this spiel before.
"jesus, nine?" ellie grumbled, and to her horror, your smile dropped.
"that's a great number!" she exclaimed awkwardly, scrambling to fix her mistake.
you nodded. "have a good day," you dismissed, and ellie's stomach lurched.
as ellie made her way to the end of the counter, she heard an exasperated "finally!" before you began to mumble apologies. ellie rolled her eyes. asshole.
when her name was called and she was handed her drink, ellie froze. her name, written pretty in your handwriting, punctuated with a doodle of a smile. her pulse quicked, and ellie wondered if she had always been this pathetic or if she had just gotten soft.
before she left, she turned around to give you one last look. you saw her heading for the door, and strained your neck to look at ellie once more before she was gone. you made eye contact, and ellie almost did an awkward half wave that certainly would've kept her up at night, cringing.
you tore your eyes away from ellie, mentally cursing yourself. but god, she was cute.
ellie shook her head discouragingly, once again met with the warm breeze of the afternoon as she stepped outside. she stared down at the little smiley on her cup. ellie frowned. she didn't really like coffee, but she also didn't want to throw it away. she heaved a sigh, holding the beverage as she began her trudge to class.
the doodled smiley carried ellie on a high throughout the entire day.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
ellie had come to find out that maybe, she wasn't particularly good at rationalizing with herself.
she figured that she would have a pretty good chance at seeing you again if she were to visit the cafe on the same day of the week and at the same time that she had previously seen you. she also figured that purposefully seeking out a stranger at their place of employment was pretty damn creepy.
when ellie passed by the cafe on her newly adjusted route to class, she craned her neck each time in hopes of catching a glimpse of you through the window. unfortunately for herself, ellie hadn't been so lucky.
if she had seen you, would she go inside?
mentally, ellie told herself no, but the answer was lousy.
maybe ellie would have, but only to try that lavender whatever drink that has been advertised on the chalkboard sign outside of the cafe. the flowers decorating the board looked a lot like the one doodled on your nametag and... did you draw them? was it your handwriting in purple, swooping letters that she saw now, nearly every day?
will power strong, but her delusion even stronger, ellie did not revisit the cafe and she did not have a crush on a barista that she met only once.
it was purely coincidental that exactly a week later, ellie left early for class again. she accidentally found herself walking the path to the cafe, and since she was so early anyway, ellie found no harm in stopping inside to get a break from the early september heat.
it was practically empty inside, so ellie's gaze quickly found its way to you.
you appreciated a slow day. the campus starbucks had finally staffed up enough to open for the semester, consequently stealing a lot of the little cafe's business. your coworkers complained and groaned about the matter, but you didn't mind. you sort of preferred it like this anyway.
the door chiming drew your attention instantly, and you were quick to recognize the auburn haired girl from the previous week. the sight of her made you grin, teeth on display before you had a moment to overthink it.
ellie's eyes were on you from the moment she stepped inside, and you noticeably faltered.
you weren't smiling right, so you straightened up your posture and dropped your eyes. you didn't want to smile too much, in a way that would be strange to greet a customer that you had only once before.
you pressed your lips into a tight smile. more formal, less i'm glad to see you again. i totally wasn't keeping an eye out for you during every single shift.
there was no line to restrain ellie today, and she sort of wished that there had been. a handful of seconds felt like ages as ellie shuffled to the counter. you were fidgeting, looking at ellie and then looking away.
ellie thought that she might be able to be confident today, swift and suave and just flirty enough to let you on to the idea that she could potentially be interested.
interested in what exactly, ellie wasn't so sure. she had girlfriends before, of course, and had admittedly flirted with her fair share of girls through time. obsessing over somebody random after one encounter though, that was new.
"uh, hey," ellie coughed. off to a fucking strong start, moron.
"hi!" you chirped, wringing your hands behind the counter. if you remembered her, and acted as such, would she think it was weird? what if you pretended not to remember her, but she did remember you, and then she thought that you were rude?
the sound of your voice filled a void that had been left within ellie since the previous week. the reaction it prompted within her was so fucking ridiculous that she deemed herself to be an idiot.
ellie did not have feelings for a barista that she saw once.
well, twice now, but still. no fucking thank you.
"what can i do for you?" you questioned, customer service manners causing your voice to raise in pitch.
there's a few things that you could- ellie scrunched her eyebrows with a pained expression, tearing herself away from the disgusting thought. jesus christ, what was actually wrong with her?
your smile never wavered as you waited, but your heart was racing. why on earth was it so awkward?
c'mon, fucking pull yourself together. if it goes wrong, you never have to show your face in here again, ellie thought.
"i actually wanted to try that drink you recommended last time," ellie said smoothly.
surprise registered clearly across your face, along with one blaring thought. she remembered you!
the second thought, the always displeasing afterthought, dropped like a weight in your chest. you were pretty sure the cafe didn't have the ingredients you would need.
you smiled anyway, (she remembered you!) giddy and nervous.
"the lavender one, right?" you questioned, and ellie was so in. you remembered the interaction, which might not mean anything at all, but it was better than being forgotten.
"right," ellie confirmed, nodding once with an easy smile.
"right," you repeated, and ellie instantly noticed the uncomfortable expression on your face. shit.
“um so,” you winced as you started, really not in the mood to receive the lashings of an unhappy customer. “i believe we are actually out of the lavender, i can go check in the back just to make sure if you want…”
ellie wanted to say no, that’s totally fine, you’re beautiful and don’t even worry about it, but her mouth tended to work faster than her brain.
ideally, she wouldn’t be opposed to a moment alone to compose herself, so ellie mumbled a quick “sure, that’s fine,” and tried not to be a creep as you turned and quickly walked away, disappearing behind a set of doors into the back.
you already knew there was no possible way that you could make the drink, and you already knew that there were no extra ingredients hidden in the back. you wondered if you could stay hidden and just not go back out.
"i am so sorry," you began, voice high and apologetic as you made your way back to your standing place. "unfortunately we don't ha-"
"that's fine!" ellie squeaked, crimson patching its way onto her cheeks. ellie thought that maybe she should buy you a drink, since it seemed like she only showed up to cause extra trouble for you.
ellie pictured it so clearly in her mind, asking whatever your favorite drink was and ordering it, only to give it to you instead. was that smooth, or lame? she imagined telling jesse and dina about it later and pictured them giving her praise instead of wincing in second-hand embarrassment, so it was game on.
"is there anything else i could get you?" you questioned, tugging at your bottom lip with your teeth.
"actually-"
"hey, excuse me, can i get an ice water to go?"
ellie quickly snapped in the direction of the person who interrupted her. a guy stood near a table in which he was previously sat, packing up a laptop and notebook.
"of course!" you turned away from ellie and she would have sworn that she felt her heart burst. "what size?"
ellie watched intently, jealous as you prepared the simple water cup. why couldn't she be an easy customer like that? what the fuck was wrong with her?
"sorry about that," you muttered sheepishly. your hand hovered over the cash register, still waiting to take ellie's order.
your nails were painted the same color as last time, ellie noted, but they were starting to chip.
"it's all good," ellie breezed, and suddenly remembered that she actually had a class to get to. she recited the previous coffee order without a second thought, thanks dina, and you nodded along intently. you weren't really great at remembering faces and their orders, but something in you made you want to memorize ellie's.
ellie paid (you remembered this time, but no co-worker was around to see it) and she held back a snort when you pulled out a little pink stamp pad.
"do you have your reward card?" you questioned, leaving ellie to look dumbfounded.
"my what?"
"the reward card? buy nine drinks, the tenth is on us?"
"oh! oh, shit," ellie fumbled for her wallet, making a sound of recognition as she pulled out the card. "of course i do," ellie remarked. you swallowed a giggle.
you stamped her card with the pretty pink ink and then began to make the drink. ellie mentally cursed herself for once again ordering something that she didn't like, but it was too late now.
"here you go!" you presented. you had wrote ellie on the cup, even though you technically didn't need to since no one else was around. ellie appreciated it anyway.
"thanks," she murmured, failing to meet your gaze.
"have a good day, okay?"
"you too," ellie remarked, holding up her cup in parting.
when she was outside and the fresh air began to clear her mind, ellie forbid herself from ever going back to that cafe. it was painfully and unnecessarily awkward, especially considering that she didn't know you.
still, her heartstrings were tugged as she stared down at the drink in her hand. last time, your co-worker had actually been the one to make the drink, so ellie didn't feel any guilt about pouring it down the sink.
however, you were the one to make it today. and you were so sweet, and ellie couldn't bear to just throw it away.
ellie gulped, staring at the cup with a grimace. she took a fast, quick sip, and then coughed into her arm so she wouldn't gag.
ellie still fucking hated coffee. but she finished off the drink, just because you made it.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
the next morning, ellie was up early with a mission. a study session with dina wasn't exactly the best thing to motivate ellie to wake up early, but an excuse to see if you were working definitely was.
ellie had no clue of your schedule except for the one day of the week that she had already seen you. it might have been a long shot, but fuck it, the least she could do was get dina a coffee on her way.
campus was quiet when it was early. ellie certainly preferred it that way. it was peaceful, the way the morning light projected a certain softness onto her surroundings. she knew the cafe was open this early, ellie had googled it about seven times the night prior and twice more in the morning to be safe.
to confirm the information once more, ellie could see the glowing lights through the window. it appeared empty, and ellie couldn't even tell who the person was inside until she entered.
"hi," you said almost instantly, and your tone made it clear that you were surprised.
"hi," ellie repeated, not being able to believe her luck.
you had been wiping a table, but you placed the rag down and moved to the counter as you continued to speak.
"you're really determined to burn through that reward card, huh?"
your joke caught ellie off guard, and her feet were carrying her before she told them to. ellie didn't even feel like a person yet, how were you making jokes so early?
"i'll be getting my free drink by noon," ellie retorted.
"ambitious, i like it," you laughed.
ellie was going to have a good day.
she didn't really give a fuck about the reward card, honestly, ellie would only use it if you were around. she was prepared on the off chance that you would be working, and caught you by surprise as she slapped it on the countertop.
"so what'll it be? your usual?" you questioned, tilting your head to the side.
ellie mentally cursed herself for hitting rock bottom, because receiving basic customer service shouldn't be having that effect on her.
"yeah, actually," ellie confirmed, looking flustered as her face dusted pink.
"perfect," you murmured, fingers dancing along the order screen. shit.
"um, shit," you laughed awkwardly, face burning. "i promise i know it but also could you like, remind me?"
ellie laughed because everything about you was so endearing and also because she didn't want you to feel embarrassed.
"for sure," ellie enthused, going through the steps of the order. as you tapped the screen, ellie noted that your nails were painted a different color today.
you were a little slower at making the drink today, not that ellie minded. it was peaceful, watching you hum as you did every step so delicately. ellie felt lucky to be the only person there with you, and then hoped she wasn't weird for having the thought.
the song playing quietly through the speakers above caught ellie's attention once she had noticed that it was the one that you were humming along to. the sound of the acoustic guitar got stuck in ellie's head like a daydream, your absent minded mutters filling the spaces of silence.
"oh man, i love this song," ellie gushed.
"yeah?" you looked up with a grin, pleased by ellie's comment. "me too."
perfect girl. ellie watched as you picked up a sharpie, turning your back to her.
"what other stuff do you guys play here?" ellie questioned, craning her neck to try and see what you were drawing on her cup.
"uh," you didn't think that you had ever been this concentrated on decorating someone's cup before. "anything, mostly. we play our own playlists, like, whoever's working, you know?"
ellie nodded, even though you couldn't see her. "this is yours?"
"my playlist?" you turned back around, immediately caught in ellie's green eyed gaze. "yeah! i don't play my own stuff much though, unless i'm here alone."
"i get that," ellie murmured, watching as you once again made yourself busy.
it was quiet just for a moment, until you handed ellie her drink. your fingers touched for just a moment but your pulse quickened. you hoped you weren't making things weird, but worried that you were by the way ellie dropped her eyes after the small touch.
ellie was silent while she payed, but only because she was trying to think of something more to say.
"hey," ellie said suddenly, causing your eyebrows to raise. "you didn't stamp my card," she complained.
"oops," you said, reaching for your stamp.
"i can't believe you're trying to cheat me out of a free drink," ellie stated, feigning fake shock.
"yeah, guess you'll just have to come back more," you responded through a laugh.
your joke sobered ellie's expression. the brief change made you freeze, and you couldn't decide whether or not the joke was incorrect. oh my god, you barely knew her. then again, it could have been passed off as just a joke about getting more business.
"guess i will," ellie agreed quietly, and your breath caught in your throat. was she joking or flirting? was there something, or were you sleep deprived and crushing on an extremely attractive girl that you barely even knew?
ellie felt satisfied with herself, though was determined to leave before she could manage to fuck anything up.
"thank you," she concluded, moving towards the door.
"anytime. see you soon for that free drink, right?"
ellie scanned your features and cracked a smile. "definitely. have a good one, okay?"
"okay," you sighed and then coughed awkwardly. "have a good day!"
after ellie had left, you slid down to the floor and covered your head in your hands. what the hell were you doing?
ellie quickened her pace to get to dina's, but after one glance at her cup she stopped short.
in black sharpie, you had drawn a flower and a little bee. and then, ellie's name in cursive.
fuck.
ellie looked back towards the direction of the cafe, wondering how creepy she might come off as if she were to march back in there and ask you out.
the doodle on the cup quite literally made her heart ache, and she stood indecisively on the sidewalk.
ellie had gotten this coffee for dina to be a good friend.
ellie also could not fucking stand the idea of passing this cup off to dina and then seeing it be thrown in the trash.
"fuck," ellie muttered.
whatever, dina could use her own fucking cup.
ellie would explain, sort of. maybe.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
"ellie, what the hell is wrong with you?"
dina's shoes slapped heavy against the pavement in a rushed attempt to keep up with her best friend. her hand reached for ellie's arm, a little aggressively, as ellie nearly shoulder checked some guy zooming past on a skateboard.
"huh? nothing," ellie dismissed, blinking around her surroundings as if she had never been on campus before.
"yeah? nothing? since when do you ever want to get a coffee," dina mocked the way ellie had proposed the plan earlier, earning a frustrated sigh from the auburn haired girl.
ellie shook her head, fixating her eyes on the little cafe that she was growing quite familiar (and fond) of.
"change of scenery would be nice," ellie grumbled. "come on, i'm being a good friend. you love this place."
"you're being so weird," dina muttered, stepping ahead of ellie to open the door.
the sudden chill of the air conditioning was a shock to ellie's warm skin. she tried not to look at you as she trailed in after dina.
"i'm gonna get-"
"let me," ellie interrupted, causing dina to raise an eyebrow. "how about you find us a seat and i'll order drinks, yeah?"
the environment was loud with orders and chatter, leaving little room to set up and study. ellie straightened her posture, appearing a lot more confident than she felt.
dina nodded, rolling her eyes with a grin. "i'll grab a table."
ellie waited until dina's back was turned to take a shaky breath as she pivoted to the ordering counter. there wasn't much of a line, only one person, though a gaggle of people waited off to the side for their names to be called.
you didn't notice ellie until she was in line, shifting on her feet and stealing glances that she probably assumed you wouldn't catch.
"hi," you chirped, gaining her attention.
ellie's gaze snapped upwards. she felt surprised to hear your voice, even though you were the sole reason for her even coming inside in the first place. the smile that graced your lips made her head spin, and she was suddenly all too aware that dina was probably watching her now.
"hi," ellie repeated, a little too meekly for her own liking.
"how are you?" you questioned, dropping any trace of your customer service voice.
"good now," ellie replied.
you raised a curious brow but smiled anyway, the presence of your ever growing favorite 'stranger' was exactly the type of break that you yearned for on a day like today.
there was no denying the silly way that ellie made you feel, no matter how much you argued it with yourself.
it wasn't typical of you to get butterflies while customers were ordering.
you relaxed your posture, grateful that there was a lack of impatient people lining up behind ellie. your co-worker was making drinks so you were free to chat, even just for a minute.
"what can i get for you?" you forced yourself to meet ellie's eyes, which you realized quickly was a difficult task.
looking in her eyes for too long made your head whirl. her gaze was so steady, so intentional, it honestly threw you for a loop.
when ellie began to recite the coffee order that you were expecting, you laughed a little and tapped away on the ordering screen and ellie's mouth felt dry with nerves.
"-and uh, a water. please," ellie finished, resting her hand and wallet on the counter.
"switching things up on me now?" you joked, shaking your head with a tsk. "just as i was starting to memorize it."
"gotta keep you on your toes," ellie quipped. if she leaned in closer, just a little, she could smell your perfume. "surely all your other customers don't give you enough of a hard time."
you smiled knowingly with a quick laugh, grabbing the card that ellie was now holding out to you. your fingers touched just briefly and ellie flushed instantly.
"you're totally the most difficult customer we've ever had," you deadpanned.
the humor was on ellie's caliber, and she had started it, yet your sarcastic remark instantly had her feeling guilty.
"right," ellie muttered, and she felt stupid because she knew it was a joke and you were only playing along and what did she expect, a fucking compliment?
"i'm kidding," you rushed, sliding ellie's card back to her. "you're like, the best one."
now ellie really felt like an idiot. she fumbled to return her card into her wallet and tried to ignore how warm she felt.
you smiled awkwardly and ellie wanted to believe that you were being sincere on a personal level, not just reciting some customer service bullshit. completely aware of the fact that she was overthinking it, ellie choked on a laugh. maybe she was just scarred from the trader joe's shopping experience.
"you say that to everyone," ellie recovered, her voice a lot smoother than she felt.
"oh," you disagreed, wide eyed. "pinkie promise. i like when you come in 'cause i don't have to worry about potentially being yelled at or like, verbally attacked."
ellie briefly contemplated making a stupid joke, but your twitchy smile made her heart ache and she wished that she could hang out in the cafe all day, ready to defend you from any asshole that comes in with an attitude.
"never," ellie responded, finally catching your eye. "i would never."
"i know," you replied softly, and immediately felt your face grow warm with embarrassment. why were you being so earnest? you didn't ACTUALLY know, anyway. but you wanted to trust those green eyes, so you did.
this is good, ellie thought. she wanted to say something else, maybe ask a question, but you pushed off the counter and clicked your tongue.
"i'll get you the water while you wait for your coffee," you said quickly, turning away and making yourself busy.
ellie's mouth snapped shut, her racing thoughts stopping dead in their tracks. she noticed that the bow you wore in your hair matched the color of your slouchy sweater and she had to get to know you.
pouring a water obviously didn't take as long as preparing a coffee, so ellie didn't understand why she seemed so caught off guard when you handed her the water.
"thanks..." ellie murmured. talking was usually pretty easy for ellie, considering how long she's been able to do it, so the fact that her mouth and words were drying up now had her about ready to tug at her hair in frustration.
"sorry," you smiled sheepishly. "i would totally make your coffee so you wouldn't have to wait, but i'm on register duty.. so..."
ellie noticed as you tapped your painted nails on the register and oh my fucking god, your nails matched your bow and sweater. how the fuck?
"that's okay, i don't mind waiting," ellie replied smoothly, and the words left her mouth before she could even process them. "as long as i can wait over here?"
here was referring to exactly where she was standing, at the counter with you. your cheeks burned and you nodded once, a silent reply.
"sure," you finally managed to choke out. "i don't blame you, it gets overwhelming waiting in crowds like that..."
fumbled. fumbled fumbled fumbled.
"uh, yeah."
as awkward as it was, you hoped it took a while longer for ellie's drink to be finished. she was cute, there was no sense in trying to deny yourself from acknowledging it. it's not like you were going to say anything, and if it made five minutes of your day more interesting, so what?
"don't tell me you forgot about the reward card," you teased, an easy fall back.
"never," ellie replied, but her eyes widened as she struggled to find it in her wallet. "shit."
you shook your head in disapproval. "and to think i just called you my best customer?"
"ouch," ellie mumbled. "i'll find it, i swear," ellie rushed, taking the idea of a stupid card much too seriously. she was well aware of the fact, but still. you were the one to give it to her after all.
you giggled at her strained expression and rose colored cheeks. "don't worry about it. hey, have you been to that coffee shop downtown?"
ellie's heartbeat quickened, and she wondered if you could tell based purely upon the look on her face. she was nearly ecstatic that you were genuinely talking to her, asking her something, and she wanted to deliver. it was a little deflating though. ellie didn't really love coffee shops, and she didn't want to provide you with an underwhelming answer.
"which one?" ellie inquired, loving the little smile that appeared on your lips before you answered her question.
"it's on the corner of main, on the inside it has this super cool v-"
"vinyl store?" ellie finished, beaming with excitement. "dude, i fucking love that place. i'm there like, every week."
"yeah?" you enthused, butterflies swirling your stomach. "me too! maybe we like... saw each other there before."
"i don't think so," ellie said instantly.
"i mean, you might've, maybe you just don't remember," you offered.
"i would've remembered," ellie replied seriously. she quickly wondered if her response was too cheesy, but you drew your eyes downward and tried to suppress a smile and ellie felt fine.
"fair enough," you mumbled, tracing shapes on the counter.
"so, do you collect vinyls or do you just-"
"did you forget my drink order or what?" dina joked, coming up behind ellie.
ellie shook her head, shifting awkwardly on her feet. shit.
"just waiting," ellie mumbled. she didn't know why she felt uncomfortable, maybe the idea of crushing on the barista at her friend's favorite coffee shop when she didn't even LIKE coffee but was suddenly spending all of her free minutes there, was, odd.
you recognized the girl next to ellie, dina. she came in pretty frequently.
ellie's name was called by your co-worker as her, no - dina's drink was placed on the counter.
"well, wait no longer," dina laughed, playfully shoving ellie away.
ellie glanced at you briefly before grabbing the drink, handing it off to dina with a cheesy grin.
oh.
oh.
the smile dropped from your face just as it felt as though your heart dropped into your stomach. you felt so stupid. especially considering all of the effort you had put into trying to make ellie's cups look cute, and they weren't even for ellie.
you watched as they sat down together and huffed out a sigh, startling as your co-worker tapped you on the shoulder to inform you that they were going on break.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
ellie couldn't stop thinking about you. she had avoided the cafe for a few days following your last interaction. she didn't understand why, but it made her feel guilty.
it's not like she even had a reason to feel that way. but hey, she was a loyal girl. if she decidedly had a secret crush on a barista that she barely knew, it was sacred!
the way that your demeanor had changed was stuck in ellie's head, and honestly, maybe it was making her a little too hopeful. the look on your face had to have meant something.
on the other hand, this was coming from someone who's idea of flirting was smiling while somewhat remaining eye contact.
seriously. seriously? fuck it.
ellie didn't like coffee anyway.
if she completely humiliated herself and ultimately freaked you out forever, she just wouldn't go back to the cafe! easy!
the sunlight covering campus was soft. it would be dark soon, and ellie felt exhausted after a long day of classes. she was well aware that this was definitely a long shot, but she had to try. she had been buying a lot of coffee lately.
please, please let it be worth something.
the sky was fading blue when ellie appeared upon the cafe. the sign on the door said CLOSED! but the lights were on and ellie could've fallen to her knees and screamed thank you to the universe because she could see that you were inside.
you didn't flinch when the bell on the door chimed, signaling its opening.
"we're closed," you stated without looking up, powering off a small machine.
"i know," ellie breathed, standing in the doorway.
you blinked, suddenly feeling flushed. you straightened your posture and waited, unsure what to make of the situation.
surely she wasn't secretly one of those people who were like, i don't care if you're closed, give me my damn coffee now!
you silently pleaded to the universe for that to not be the case. you already had a rough day as is.
"what do you want?" you asked, a hint of exhaustion in your tone.
everything in ellie's body wanted to backpedal. maybe she really did misread everything.
"um, i wanted to say.. uh-"
oh for fuck's sake. just say it.
"i wanted to say sorry?" ellie offered, false confidence leading her to the counter.
"sorry for what?" you questioned, wrinkling your nose.
"i don't like coffee," ellie blurted out. the absurdity made you laugh.
"that's.. okay?" you crossed your arms, raising an eyebrow at the green eyed girl.
"i've just been buying them for my friend," ellie continued, adding more emphasis than necessary to friend.
you pretended not to be delighted. "that's okay. it doesn't matter who customers buy their drinks for," you pointed out.
ellie swallowed a sigh. being referred to plainly as a customer (even though that's exactly what she was) was possibly the most devastating thing to ever happen in her life.
"i know," ellie replied, really amping it up. "i just wanted you to know. that i was buying them for a friend."
your heart was beating so quickly, you felt like a hummingbird.
"oh," you muttered, feeling stumped. "it doesn't matter what i think," you said quickly, looking at the floor.
"it does. i liked the bee. and the little flower. they were cute," ellie explained. her cheeks were completely red and yours were certainly warming up as well.
"thanks.. i thought they were cute too," you said softly, kicking your shoe at the ground.
"great. can i have your number?"
as the words left ellie she blinked heavily, startled by her own actions.
you brain turned to mush. you wanted to laugh but nothing came out so you just stared at ellie in silence.
"mine?"
ellie nodded.
"sure," you breathed, walking to pull out a pad of paper by the register. you retrieved a pen and wrote your number, followed by your name in cursive.
ellie waited in silence, holding her breath. you very easily could've just typed your number into her phone, but ellie found it incredibly endearing that you actually wrote it down instead.
"it's really nice of you to do stuff like that," you murmured, handing the paper to ellie. "buying coffee for a friend and all that."
"not entirely," ellie disagreed, forcing herself to meet your eyes.
you raised your eyebrows in question, and ellie shook her head.
"it wasn't exactly selfless."
"why?" you asked, a curious smile embellishing your features.
"i was only buying stuff so i had an excuse to come in."
you bit back a grin and leaned against the counter. "it's still nice of you to get something for someone else if you didn't like coffee... but why didn't you get like, a smoothie or tea or something?"
ellie didn't have an answer, you could tell by the look on her face and it made you laugh.
"what do you like?" you asked.
"i don't know? tea's fine. hot chocolate?"
you rolled your eyes, pointing to the menu above you that clearly had hot chocolate labeled as a menu item.
"so what? it's september." ellie wrinkled her nose in disgust.
"oh, you're one of those people," you observed, watching ellie's features contort into confusion.
"one of what people?"
"people who only drink seasonally appropriate drinks," you pointed out.
"i... guess?" ellie tried to hold a decent conversation, but she was still buzzing about getting your number and the way your perfume was the best thing that she had ever smelled.
"want me to make you something?" you questioned suddenly. "i bet that i can make you something that you'll actually like, and it won't be coffee."
ellie nodded immediately, but her words conflicted her. "aren't you closed?"
you shrugged, grinning at the girl standing opposite of you. "it's not a big deal. plus, it gets creepy at night. it'll be more fun closing up with some company."
ellie nodded once more, and she would absolutely stay for every single closing shift you ever had if you wanted her to.
you paced back and forth a bit, pulling out some supplies and flipping on some machines.
"what kind of tea do you like?" you inquired, peering over at ellie. "black? green? white? oolong?"
"the... fucking, brown kind?"
your eyebrows raised as you scanned her features, trying to determine whether or not she was joking.
ellie cracked an uneasy smile.
"do you like matcha, or do you think it tastes like grass and dirt?"
"uh-"
"right! i got it," you said decidedly, making yourself busy as ellie watched in confusion and wonder.
the tea that you made was simple, but not plain. it was earthy but not too bitter or dark, and it was a brighter flavor compared to coffee.
ellie chatted with you while you were busy, about majors and assholes on campus that drag their feet and take up entire walkways.
she was actually really easy to talk to, and funny too.
ellie was just glad that she didn't need an excuse to talk to you anymore.
"okay," you announced with bravado. "try this."
you placed the cup in front of ellie, and she hesitantly took a sip.
"it's totally fine if you hate it, there's zero pressure," you clarified.
ellie popped the lid off of the cup, smelling the tea before she took another drink. "it's actually really good," ellie enthused.
"really?" you beamed, feeling quite proud of yourself.
ellie frowned but her heart soared. it was, to ellie's taste, the perfect drink.
"really," ellie confirmed. "how much do i owe?"
you swatted her away, smiling slyly. "consider it your tenth."
ellie faked a gasp. "is that allowed?"
"for you, yeah." you thought for a moment, chewing on your bottom lip. "but will you please bring your reward card back sometime so that i can stamp it? i bought a bunch of cute stamps and i don't really get to use them 'cause no one ever-"
"absolutely," ellie replied seriously, eyes flicking over your face. this would possibly, definitely, be her best fucking semester yet. ever.
and her favorite cafe. and her favorite drink.
and her favorite barista.
ellie stayed with you while you finished closing, which was sweet.
together you made plans to go to the vinyl shop, after ellie asked if she could ever see you when you weren't on the clock.
you made ellie another tea for the road, but you spent extra time decorating the cup with frilly flowers, little animal characters, and ellie's name in your very best handwriting.
ellie would hold on to that cup, too.

are you ever going to continue the middle and little series? not to pressure, just asking because i really enjoyed that first installment <3
Funny you should ask, I've been hanging onto 80% of this one for awhile, thinking it needed more editing but like here you go!
“Okay, is everyone ready for movie night? Still feeling good about the scene?” Daddy’s doing some last minute checks before headspace made that kind of thinking feel far away.
Baby nodded from her playpen and Little piped up from the couch, “yes, Daddy! Essited for watchin’ a big kid movie!” Daddy chuckled.
“Okay, well remember to double tap your watches to call me if things get too intense or you need my help, ahem, finishing up.” Daddy winked at Baby, who blushed, falling into headspace out of sheer embarrassment.
“Be good to our Baby, okay Little one? She’s still adjusting and she needs your sweetness and helping hands. Enjoy your movie nap together, I’ll be back in an hour.” Daddy flipped on the prepared DvD and strode upstairs, confident that his Little could handle this.
Onscreen appeared some of Baby and Little’s favorite characters, but they weren’t solving mysteries like usual. They were just talking so far, and pressing their faces together noisily.
Baby watched, wide-eyed, suckling her binkie and looking littler and littler in her crinkly diapey, surrounded by her plushies. One of the characters on screen took off his undies, still noisily kissing a girl onscreen. Baby’s sweet little face wrinkled, confusion passing over her pretty features. Little saw her eyes flit down to the man’s big grown-up stiffy and she went even pinker.
Little wanted to focus on the fun, grown-up playtime video on the screen, but that involved tearing his focus away from Baby, whose nipples hardened instantly when the kissing started. He wondered if Baby remembered their first kisses, around her comfort binkie, the same one she’s suckling now. He wondered how it might feel to kiss her like the girl on the screen.
Should I get nakey? Little wonders, shifting his hips closer and closer to the edge of the couch.
He looked Baby up and down, and saw her bottom lift and fall against the puppy pads lining her pen, bouncing subtly. Her eyes were glued to the screen, and Little was embarrassed to see the lollipop game he sometimes played with Daddy up there, the girl in the scene on her knees kissing and licking all over the guy’s big stiffy.
Little closed his eyes, feeling light-headed and falling deeper into headspace.
Soooo tingly, wan touchies. Big kid touchies.
Behind her paci, he heard Baby whine, just pouting. She’s so little, she barely knows about tingles, but it’s clear to Little that she’s getting all worked up and tingly. His heart aches for her, so confused, so little.
“Baby! You like da movie?” he palmed himself over his undies, making sure to grind up into it with a sweet, little moan when she tore her eyes away to look up at her Big Bubba Little.
Baby nodded, sucking her paci a little extra before spitting it out to hang on its lanyard, pressing her hand in the same spot Little did but over her big puffy diaper, “ye, like ‘im lots n lots,” Baby chirps, “but feelin all sticky in m’ diapey!” She tries to hump her hand, but just kind of air humped back and forth confusedly. She whines again, louder this time.
Bubba Little felt a curl of earnest affection burst in his heart. She needed his help.
“Bubba can help, lil Baby.” She looks up, teary-eyed, to see Little sliding off the couch. He came to the edge of Baby’s playpen and pointed at a big teddy bear in the corner.
“Grab your bear, get on your hands and knees, and tuck him ‘tween your legs under your diapey.” Little pressed his hand against the front of his pants again, watching her comply with his request.
“Put your binky back in, too, you don hafta talk at all, Bubba’ll tell you what to do.”
Baby whole face relaxed when she popped her paci back in her mouth, happy to be taken care of again. She settled in on top of her bear and looked up at the screen where the lollipop game was heating up.
She looked to her big brother for help, “what is-?” she managed before lapsing into another big-eyed silence. She bucked her hips like before, yelping when her sticky padding actually provided friction.
Her eyes returned to the screen, in awe of the feeling she could provoke with just her hips motion. She ground down again, her little face and shoulders relieved at the freedom from her own thoughts combined with being able to seek her own pleasure.
Little can't take his eyes off her. The man onscreen keeps making dirty noises, but Baby's humping and whimpering takes precedence.
“'s the tingles game, Baby, I play wit Daddy if ‘m good,” Little can't keep his hands off his winkie now, this naughty interaction searing his brain. Looking at the screen again, he suddenly wishes Baby would use her mouth to play the lollipop game on him. He can't ask their pure, pretty Baby to do anything so naughty.
His cheeks turn pink and he snatches his hand away from his stiffie, embarrassed. Daddy said to let Baby initiate play when she's ready. In fact, he’s under strict instructions not to get inside the playpen with her.
“Tin-goesth?” Baby murmurs around her binky, not tearing her eyes from the screen. She leans back on her haunches, putting more pressure on the bear and her privates, but it doesn't seem like enough for her. She ruts shamelessly into her bear, faster now, cheeks pink and eyes glassy.
Little watches for a bit before making a decision. He can't get in and help her, but he can show her what to do. Pulling down his pants, he blushes. He’s all stiff and tingly, and Baby will see it! He steels himself and pulls down his big boy undies, coming around the front of the playpen, winkie out.
What he sees makes his heart squeeze. Baby's tired herself out, humping hard and fast, getting nowhere but more tingly. She's laying on her bear, not even looking at the movie, twitching her hips while tears squeeze out of her eyes.
On seeing her Bubba come around her playpen, she jerks up, embarrassed and on edge.
“Ting-goess, hewp pwease?” She whimpers, scrambling on her knees to the bars of her playpen to grab her big Bubba's hand before seeing his stiffy poking out under his shirt.
She doesn't shy away from him, looking from his stiffy to the screen and then back to him.
“Ye, Baby, I help, I help!” She's asked, so he's finally allowed. He takes the hand she’d holding, reaches down and plunges it into her padding to find her tingly parts.
“‘S okay, Baby?” he whispers in her ear when she eeps in surprise.
“ye, ye, ye Bubba, need hewp tingoes ye” she chants, closing her eyes when he makes contact with her baby parts through all that slick, feeling her tiny winkie pulse.
“Nnnn, Bubba!” she spits her paci out, holding onto his arm. Just like Daddy showed him, he doesn't have to do much.
“Girl winkies are much smaller and more sensitive. Just make little circles, fast and soft. Let her decide the rest.” Daddy's coaching for the last week rings in Little’s ears.
She's rutting on his fingers now, hard and fast.
“Feels good, Baby? Bubba wan make you feel good.”
Baby nods without speaking, her sweet mouth open and her little nipples hard on his arm. Her hips jerk and his whole hand suddenly feels hot and wet as Baby hollers out,
“Bub-bahhh!” She puts both hands on his arm and swirls her hips one more time, shivering, sweet and happy.
He pulls his hand out, proud of his ability to help her make tingles. He stands back up and leans forward to check on her in her playpen. His stiffy jumps, slid between the bars.
Instead of slumped down, relaxing after tingles, Baby was back on her knees, so close it startles him. She looked up at him, pink lips puffy and open, eyes wide.
“tank you Bubba,” she whispers, her innocent blinking making his hand itch to do big kid touches on himself.
“Good job, Baby! Tingles feel good?” She moves in closer, her eyes slide over to the screen where different pairs of their favorite mystery gang are playing the lollipop game.
Her eyes take in his stiffy poking through the bars and she leans so close he can feel her breath on it as she murmurs
“Bubba need ting-goes?”
His hips ram into the bars as Baby sucks on him, pulling him into her mouth like a big binky. She swallows and he squeaks, trying to stay still like Daddy does, but it's hard.
He wants to touch her, hold her close, but doesn't want to scare her.
The lollipop game!
His eyes cross and he understands more why Daddy loves this game. The tingles feels so strong, he certainly won't last much– he remembers how Daddy does stickies so they aren't yucky in his mouth.
“Baby!! Bubba's gotta-ah-make stickies, ummm don-oh oh-here!”
He pulls out quickly enough that she looks shocked, and he pops her binky back in.
He can feel his tingles running up his back already and wraps his hand around his stiffy just into time to pump stickies out onto the floor. Baby's mouth felt so good, he wants to reward her.
But when he turns to her in her playpen, she's holding her bear, still on her knees, tears in her eyes again.
“Baby??”
“did bad? did bad ting-goes for Bubba? why go ‘way?”
“No!!” He climbs over her playpen easily, settling in behind her to hold her around her bare tummy.
He kisses her sweet pink cheek and pops her displaced binky back in again.
“Felt TOO good,” he murmurs in her ear, naturally rocking her back and forth, holding her distressed body under she relaxed.
“too good?” She whispers.
“Ye, felt like–” he points at the screen, where a boy character was screwing up his face and the girl pulled off to rub him hard until his stickies arced up comically high to hit the ceiling, ‘felt like dat, Baby. Felt so good, like I hadda essplode.”
Her crinkly butt bumped his softening winkie and he groaned until he realized she was looking hard at the screen. Her hips stuttered when he spoke.
“‘splode? Bubba felt-?” She points at the screen, hips thrusting
“Ye, Baby, you did so good,” Little feels naughty when he asks, “Baby need more?”
She nods and he reaches inside her padding again, tapping his watch twice before he does.
Daddy will show her bigger tingles. Baby needa essplode.

nightmares
pairings/characters: kazuha x gn!reader, thoma x gn!reader, ayato x gn!reader
warnings⚠️: skin contact (lots !), pet names (e.g. love, sweetheart), tw: food (in thoma's),
synopsis: what would they do if they see you having a nightmare.
wc: 1k~
note: hiiii im back after awhile of not posting i hope you didnt miss me too much/j anyways,, ayato's is super long because this piece started bc of him :> likes and reblogs are greatly appreciated ! <3 you can also check out the other versions of nightmares here !
Tumblr media
kaedehara kazuha (楓原万葉)
☁︎︎ hums a tune to soothe you.
☁︎︎ he was writing his poems that night on the ship while you slept soundly beside him
☁︎︎ there was a little celebration on the boat that evening to wish one of the Crux’s members a happy birthday
☁︎︎ you and kazuha had headed back to your room after helping out with the cleanup of the ship and it was already about 1 am when you guys officially finished.
☁︎︎ soon after changing out into a set of cleaner clothes; you sunk into the mattress, letting the sound of the waves and rocking of the boat lull your exhausted body to sleep.
☁︎︎ kazuha sat cross-legged beside your sleeping form. He took his book out as well as a pencil, penning down his thoughts as he tried to string them into a poem.
☁︎︎ he instantly realised you were having a nightmare when your eyebrows because knitted and a slight grunt escaped your lips; the peace on your face having been disrupted.
☁︎︎ he shifted himself, moving even nearer to you so that he could stroke your hair, brushing a thumb soothingly across your forehead as he started to hum a tune.
☁︎︎ it instantly soothed your mind, even though you weren't conscious kazuha could still tell, the way your facial features started to relax when he started to hum and the way you curled up and snuggled into his side were all good signs that your nightmares were finally starting to dissipate.
☁︎︎ after he made sure that you were in a better state, he snuggled up behind you, cradling your body as he too, allowed himself to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.
thoma (托馬)
☁︎︎ he warms a glass of milk for you.
☁︎︎ it had been an absolutely amazing day with the Iradori festival taking place, getting to spend time together with ayaka and ayato and eating all the delicious festive goodies while watching the fireworks.
☁︎︎ you and thoma pretty much fell asleep immediately after reaching the Kamisato estate, plopping down onto the futons in your share room after finishing up your respective tasks and a quick hot shower.
☁︎︎ he tucked you into his chest, an arm around your shoulders and his chin resting atop your head.
☁︎︎ it was maybe 2 am? 3 am? When he realised you were having a bad dream. This had never happened before but it was unlike you to thrash in your sleep.
☁︎︎ he tapped you awake. It took less than a minute before you woke up, startled.
☁︎︎ “are you ok love?” he is concerned, to say the least, having never seen you have a nightmare scared his poor soul out of his body. “I am, sorry for waking you up,” you said, slightly embarrassed that you had woken thoma up from the much-needed sleep.
☁︎︎ “it’s alright, really. I think some warm milk would help. wanna go with me to the kitchen to grab some?” he asked.
☁︎︎ the idea seemed nice, so you nod your head before you got pulled to the kitchen, trailing right behind him.
☁︎︎ he quickly got to work. heating a pot up with enough milk for two first, moving on to grab two mugs, adding some honey into them before he waited for the steam to appear on top of the pot.
☁︎︎ “back in mondstadt, whenever I had nightmares as a kid, my mother would make this for me and tell me a bedtime story. worked like a charm because the thing I knew, daylight had broken and a new day had begun.” he chuckled, the milk starting to steam just as he finished his story.
☁︎︎ and he was quite right. After leading you back to the room, thoma handed you the warm cup of sweetened milk and you fell asleep like, five minutes after finishing the drink.
☁︎︎ “good night, y/n. don’t let the bed bugs bite.”
kamisato ayato (神里绫人)
☁︎︎ massages your head until you fall back asleep
☁︎︎ ayato is a busy man. As the Yashiro commissioner and head of the kamisato clan, he never has much time outside of sitting at his desk and filling in paperwork.
☁︎︎ he usually's up by the crack of dawn and off with Thoma to run the day’s errands before you're awake but sleeps at around 1 am because there's too much work to finish:( (poor him)
☁︎︎ he's well aware of the bad dreams you have, having seen little you wake up in the midnight of night, hair a mess as you tried to compose yourself before he saw your state so as to not worry him (this usually doesn't happen because he hears the thumping of the blanket against the floor and makes a run towards your share bedroom)
☁︎︎ he turns his attention away from his papers, hearing the familiar sound of his study room door sliding open only to see you clad in an old t-shirt of his; one that dropped below your knees
☁︎︎ “what’s wrong sweetheart? A bad dream?” he asks concern evident in his voice as he sees you nod. Turning his chair away from the desk, he stretches his arms out, inviting you to stay with him while he did his work.
☁︎︎ you shuffle towards him, climbing onto his lap and putting your arms around him, before nuzzling your face into the crook of his neck, letting yourself melt into him.
☁︎︎ “how’s the work ‘yato” you asked groggily tilting your head to the side so your voice wasn't muffled. He chuckles, even though you were exhausted from the day's work and the bad dream you had you still found it in you to start a conversation with him.
☁︎︎ “it was alright. went around Ritou with thoma to settle some matters but that's about it dear.” he touches your head, letting his fingers massage your scalp, feeling you sink deeper and deeper into his hold, until he feels you slump completely, a sign that you've fallen asleep.
☁︎︎ “sweet dreams my love.” he whispers, tilting his head to give you a kiss before turning his attention back to his paperwork.

So I had this thought months ago that I wanted a fan shirt (I can't remember at the time if this was 1 Fandom in particular or if it started as multiple)
So with the audacity I got from my dad that I can try any craft/ diy and the millennial knowledge that I can just youtube it I decided to embroider a shirt
So I bought a shirt on Amazon (I was looking for a "football shirt" is what at the time I called it but idk if that is right so...) and I picked up some embroidery floss (big question why I bought a pack of mostly green when I got a black shirt and was going to use white floss.... 🤷‍♀️)
So that done comes the real conflict.... what am I embroidering?.....
So I think originally I was going to just make it a Fandom shirt so like any Fandom I was part of or liked... (now it is just a book/ webcomic shirt) but how am I listing them?
Once I started thinking out it I switched to couples and then it changed to include books but that brought even more questions...
So if it's couples do I go by ship name? But some of the books I wanted to use aren't big enough to have a ship name...
So like the couple ao3 tag? But I really don't want to embroider Alex and Henry’s full names....
Just first names? For some reason there is a lot of Alex's (tho now that im thinking about i think the only name that repeated was Charlie) and also what about legal name vs. nickname?
I'd just go with nicknames but what if the couples call each other but their legal name (malec) or they use a different name (zimbits)?
(At some point I switched this to just being books - originally the only webcomics I was including were also published but I added Castle Swimmer at the last moment without thinking so....)
What if I just went with book titles? But what about series? (And some book titles are long...)
Just use the series name! ... but most of the series names are just the MCs first name... and I'm not reping the entire Like Us series just Marrow...
And this logic keeps circling back around...
I tested out doing a little bit of each but I got a little mad at the uneven distribution and I had strong opinions on what I wanted some of them to be ( I love the firstprince ship name but for this project I really wanted to use the title)
Tumblr media
I starred doing more planning related to placement and decided to just go with book titles and for series just the first book in the series. (Tho I did use just Tortall and I was a little mad about losing London Calling to Boyfriend Material and I really thought about leaving Captive Prince as Capri)
Tumblr media
Once all the planning was done I... actually had to do the thing...
I'm glad I got stabilizer that was washable and worked in my printed so it just took a few tries to get the size correct and I could start
(And then restart after doing a quick Google search on the best way to embroider letters)
It was pretty easy, tho it did take awhile and would have taken longer if I was being really careful about following exact letter shape and stitch length. ....it also didn't help that Poppy realized embroidery floss was an OK sub for yarn to play with...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did *cough* wait to wash any of the stabilizer off until the very end.... There was a cat in the sink when I finished the first one! It wasn't a problem tho because it washed out super easy and looks great!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... as I was taking the pics I realized i spelled Castle Swimmer wrong 😅 so maybe I'll just cut that one out later...
But overall I'm really happy with it and there is definitely room to add more when I want :) (tho I will have to remember what font and size I used because I was dumb and didn't save that...)

I have a request🙈 I’m feelings angsty today so im thinking about something like Loki forgetting an important date night and went out with the avengers after a mission completely forgetting about their plans. meanwhile steve has had an eye on y/n the entire time she was in a relationship with Loki so when heatbroken y/n eventually breaks up with Loki after being neglected and forgotten for a while and Steve gets closer to her and takes her out on a date, Loki does everything to get her back!! ❤️
OK, angst train pulling into the station........🥺🥺
====================================
Come Back
Pairing: Loki x f! Reader
Warnings: mild swearing, yelling, angst, hurt, slight mention of alcohol, neglected feelings, angst with happy ending
Summary: you and Loki had been dating for awhile, and when things were good they were great. But lately, loki seems distracted and you've had all you can take.
Tumblr media
You finished setting the table, making sure everything was perfect for your date with Loki. You had spent most of the day in the kitchen, slaving over the stove to make sure everything was just right. Things had been a bit rocky between you two lately, between missions, and paperwork you hadn't been spending much time together, and when you did he seemed distant. After the last stark party you both attended ended in a yelling match about him ignoring you the whole time to mingle, you both decided one night a week would be date night. Just the two of you without any distractions, to reconnect.
You finished setting the food out, looking up seeing it was six o'clock, you hurried and got ready, knowing Loki would be by your room at seven. You slipped on your new emerald green lingerie set you bought just for him, slipping on your most revealing dress that would make Nat proud, you fluffed your hair and touched up your make up before making your way back to living room, anxiously awaiting the arrival of your mischievous God.
You sat on the couch, playing with the hem of your dress, dinner long forgotten as you awaited Loki's return. You looked up seeing it was past two in the morning and you sighed "He forgot." You said to yourself, feeling a tear roll down your cheek. You felt your face heat up as you heard the door open into the dark living room, you knew who it was, as he stumbled inside, toeing his shoes off, flipping on the light. "Darling, why are you sitting in the dark?" He asked walking in further. "Did you forget something Loki?" You asked not looking at him. He furrowed his eyebrows, clearly confused. "Where were you?" You asked finally looking at him. "After the mission, Thor took us all out to celebrate." He smiled as he came closer, leaning down you could smell the alcohol on him.
You got up, making your way to the table, the food still spread out. "It's good to know where I stand with you." You said as you cleared the table. "What do you mean?" He asked following you "what is today? What is it we agreed to last week hmm?" You asked crossing your arms. You saw realization hit him as he saw how you were dressed, the food laid out, candles burnt down to the holders "No, I totally forgot." He said looking at you "yeah, I'm pretty easy to forget apparently." You said throwing a plate of food in the sink. "I'm so sorry love, it won't happen again." He said stepping closer to you. "That's what you said the last eight times Loki! You always forget our dates! You always forget....me." you said feeling the tears welling in your eyes.
"Darling I'm very busy, you have to understand.." he started "Oh I understand loki! Drinking with your friends is more important then coming home to your girlfriend." You said pushing past him. "Darling.." he started "Don't! Just don't. I can't do this anymore Loki. Six months is long enough." You said sighing. "What are you saying love?" He said stepping closer "I'm saying I'm done Loki. I could accept being second, hell maybe even third priority, but your last, I won't do it." You sighed shaking your head. "I need you to leave." You said going to the door. "But y/n.." he started "I said leave! I can't be with you anymore, I'm clearly not enough for you." You said looking down. He slowly walked over, grabbing his shoes and jacket, stopping through the door "im truly sorry y/n." He said but you didn't respond as you closed the door.
A few weeks had gone by, you spent most of your nights crying yourself to sleep. Your days mainly spent on autopilot, barely functioning. You had barely seen Loki since that night, occasionally running onto him in the halls, or the common room, you actively tried to avoid him."Hey y/n. How are you?" You heard Steve as he came in the main kitchen "fine, you?" You asked sipping your coffee "Oh pretty good. Hey, I was wondering if I could ask you a question." He said smiling "sure." You turned looking at him "i was wondering if I could take you to dinner tonight?" He asked watching your reaction. "Umm, sure, why not." You said smiling. "Great, I'll pick you up at eight." He said "ok sounds good." You said heading back to your room.
"Y/n, did I hear that correctly?" You heard behind you, turning to see Loki standing behind you. "Depends on what you heard." You shrugged feigning indifference. "You are going on a date with that, that boy scout?" He asked stepping closer. "Why do you care Loki?" You asked crossing your arms "You didn't care what I was doing before. Why now?" You stood waiting. "I have always cared y/n." He said. "Oh, is that why you ignored me, went out without me, talked to other women in front of me, because you cared?" You asked "y/n, I know I have failed you, but I want to make it up to you. I want to fix this, I want you to come back." He sighed coming closer. You shook your head "it's too late Loki, I love you and I always will. But I can't be last in your life, I'm sorry." You said, going into your room before your resolve broke and you lunged at him, sliding to the floor, you pulled your knees up to your chest and sobbed.
You got back from your date with Steve, he was nice, and clearly good looking, but it didn't feel right. You smiled as he walked you through the common room towards your room "I had a nice time y/n, I've wanted to ask you out for awhile, but you were spoken for." He smiled looking down. "I had a nice time too Steve, thank you." You smiled as he leaned down, pressing his lips to yours. You felt his arm slide around your back, pulling you towards him as he deepened the kiss, pressing you to the door of your room.
You broke the kiss, looking down as he held you to him. "I'm really tired, I should get to sleep." You said as he let go backing up "of course, I'll see you tomorrow y/n." He smiled "Goodnight Steve." You smiled back at him "Goodnight y/n." You heard as you went inside closing the door, leaning on it. You liked Steve, but he wasn't Loki, he couldn't make you feel the way Loki did, you doubted anyone ever could. You sighed kicking your shoes off and heading to your room. You changed into your pajamas getting ready for bed when you heard a knock on your door.
You opened it seeing Loki standing there, eyes swollen and red, his hair a disheveled mess, wearing a shirt and sweatpants as he looked up at you "y/n, please, im so sorry!" He said falling to his knees, grabbing you by your waist as he sobbed "I am so lost without you. You are everything to me." He said holding you tighter as your hand rested on his head "I will never forgive myself for my stupidity. I never should have treated you as I did. Please, let me make it up to you, come back to me." He said "Loki, you promised so many times, why should I believe this is any different?" You asked looking down as his eyes met yours "because I will prove it to you. Let me show you how much you mean to me, please. And if I fail I will never bother you again." He said watching you. "Loki, I can't let you hurt me again." You sighed closing your eyes. "I won't love, never again. Please, I can't lose you." He sobbed gripping your middle.
"You have alot to prove, are you sure I'm worth it?" You asked looking at him. "I would die a thousand deaths for you y/n. Let me prove myself worthy of you my queen." He said looking up at you. "This is your last chance Loki. I can't do this again." You said "you will not regret it love." He said, pulling you down with him, engulfing you in a hug. "I will show you my love, I swear it." He whispered in your ear. "I hope so Loki." You sighed as he rocked you back and forth.

HI OH MYG GOSH GOOD DAY DAZE!!!! its been awhile since ive last checked on tumblr KSJSN but im on the app rn and yes!! the character limit doesnt apply here sooo.. now that i can type in everything i wanted to say, i hope u dont mind me rambling for a bit!
first of all, tysm for answering the df ask!! ive taken in all of the newfound knowledge + the fact rhat. that. that they have sm potential now that im thinking about them again. they literally pop up in my head in the most random times????? me just minding my business doing hw and then suddenly theres a non-existent voice in my mind just chanting “double face partners in crime” over and over again LMAO
i really enjoy the thought of them having little competitions and a rivalry to win reader over except its just one-sided for kohaku 💀 madara patting him on the back like “sure bud lets do this!” with his signature mama aura. i can just imagine him being like (✿^‿^) and kohaku just giving him the most dead face ever in response while getting a body bag out IM SOBBING THEYRE SO SILLYJDJFHH
ALSO !!!!! STIPPLING !!!! BANGER SONG!! i agree kohaku sounds really good in it like,, his vocals are godly i love him so much </3 i listen to the song while studying a lot!! its really calming and genuinely one of my fav enstars songs huhu (+ i almost fell asleep to it and accidentally dropped my phone on my face AKJSJS)
anyways moving onto the next thing i wanted to talk abt, i recently started twst >:D i wasnt really that interested in it prior stumbling upon ur blog but i recently finished binging on ur enstars stuff and i wanted to read more of ur writing sooo.. i ended up checking ur twst works >_< i was actually p aware that u wrote abt it awhile back when u still had ur old layout but i only ended up checking them out now JSJDN eventually i fell into the rabbit hole of mentally-unwell-pretty-boys-who need-a-therapist and now im stuck and im not sure what i should feel abt it /lh
everytime lilia appears on screen all i can think of is why theres a war criminal here. enstars has a chokehold on me like the first thing i thought when i saw riddle was KASA????? THE HANAE NATSUKIFICATION OF TSUKASA SUOU???
but im enjoying the game so far!! i really wanted to punt ace to the moon at first but now he is my little meow meow. i will put him in a blender (affectionate)
other than that, i hope ur doing well!! make sure to rest up and drink lots of water. have a nice day! ^^

HEYHEY! Great to hear from you again, 🍡 anon! So it looks like the mystery of anons breaking through the character limit has been solved? I don´t really understand why you´re able to type an unlimited amount in the app but you´re so restricted on desktop. It makes zero sense to me but at least we know now? I´ve almost always sent in asks through the tumblr app so I wasn´t even aware of a character limit until you told me jkflef
And you´re right, they really do have so much potential and I´m so happy you enjoyed my little rambles!! Lmao the grip they have on you is immense, run while you still can! This is only the first step for them to have you all to themselves!!1!
The one-sided rivalry, I´m crying💀 Kohaku is so serious about this too and Madara is just like "yeah you go kid, slay!" And him grabbing a body bag while they´re having this conversation took me out. Like that was just so casual I can´t snflsfbl No but literally I feel so giddy reading and responding to these asks but I always feel so formal because writing a lot makes me want to keep the correct grammar and stuff so i´m worried that i come over as...stiff or something which I definitely don´t want!😭 I´m just a silly little guy happily typing away on my keyboard!
STIPPLING YES! THE BEST SONG OF ALL TIME; CHANGE MY MIND! Kohaku really does sound so lovely in this song, there´s a reason why I put this song in the highest tier when I was ranking all the enstars songs that one time! I even put it as the very first song even though I didn´t really rank them within the tier or anything like that. But the song deserved it <3
Tumblr media
Also does anyone else feel like the song is really short when playing enstars music? Or is that just me? I know looking at the actual time of the mv that it´s a normal length of a song but I SWEAR it feels so short when I´m playing it. It´s over so quickly!
And omg you started twst? And you were interested because of my stories?? WAHHH I´m so flattered, really!😭😳 I´m always so giddy whenever someone says that I managed to drag them into one of the two fandoms like...good! *rubs my grubby little hands together as my evil masterplan comes to fruition*
Mentally ill pretty boys is definitely a shared concept between the both games jflsjnlf i hope you´re enjoying your time so far though!
Lilia truly is a war criminal, it´s true! Also funny that you´re saying this about Tsukasa, I actually had the reverse thing kind of happen to me. As you can probably tell from both my old and my new profile pic ( and also my old header picture sfl) I really like Riddle! And I started playing twst before I got introduced to enstars by a friend so when I looked at Tsukasa I definitely went "omg he kind of looks like riddle. YOu guys have the same hair!!". It´s no surprise that both of them have me in a choke-hold now. Do I have a thing for redheads? Maybe so skfslbf
I relate so hard to that Ace thing tho. Like the first time you meet him in the prologue and he mocks you for not knowing the great seven and everything I wanted to punch him! And I mean he kind of still is an asshole but now he´s *our* asshole, you know? He´s definitely grown on me as the story went on!
Man I feel like I´ve written such a long response, I´m sorry jnlf
Also new drinking game : take a shot every time I write "definitely" because I´m noticing a certain tendency here
( Please don´t do this actually )

March 22 - 2024 Friday
11:47pm
6.5/10
This morning I made a breakfast sandwich and some rice. I was trying to get my dad over here as early as possible to fix my water heater like he said. In the meantime I was preparing for it. I laid out all the parts and tools and found a hose so I could drain the heater. I figured out how to do that and it took a little while to finish. I had to ask mom for a screwdriver and she was upset that she couldn't find one in HER own tool bag since my dad uses her tools and doesn't put them back. She said fuck which is rare. After I drained the heater, I asked my dad if I could try to do it on my own and he said sure. My nerdy ass put on a spaceship cockpit ambience video while I worked on it. I was pretending I was replacing my spaceship's fuel cells or something. It went very smoothly, the wiring was easy. The bottom element had warped due to sediment building and I spent about 90 minutes scraping out maybe 8 pounds of calcium using a coathanger. I got most of it. Then I tidied everything up and turned the heater back on, I fixed it successfully. Its the most competent I've felt in awhile. Im happy I could figure it out and service my own domicile. Afterwards I made stir fry rice for lunch with a new mix of spring vegetables. I was in BR's server while I ate watching AE play that new Dragon's Dogma. I had a weird issue where my SSD was suddenly not recognized by windows but a couple of restarts fixed everything. After he left, I also left to find a way to chill. I tried joining DV for Helldivers but he was having internet problems and had to dip. I played a little Stardew and some Cities, finally starting my EPCOT inspired city. It's going to be very hard though. When DS became free, we watched a couple of Monster High episodes and I showed her some Minecraft content I found today. Then we played a horse obby on Roblox and that was super fun. In bed we did the usual puzzles, Monster High book, and Kingdom Hearts.
~~~
Today was fresh and interesting because I had to fix that water heater which took hours and was pretty cathartic. It was a lot of valuable alone time and I confidence boost after I succeeded. I didn't do anything else of note today other than spending time with DS. Today's focus was on values but I didn't really think about it until midday, thats why I did that values writing earlier.
3 things I liked about today.
Fixing the water heater.
Making great stir fry.
Playing Roblox with DS.
Yule Ball (FW xFem-Reader)
Tumblr media
1,546 words
-The gif does not belong to me. All credit to the creator-
(Y/n) and Fred had been friends for years. They had started dating the previous school year and decided to take things slow. Now the atmosphere of the Yule Ball has them ready for more.
An: It's fluff. Tooth rotting, Winnie the Pooh stuff n fluff, cotton candy. Fluff. This is a multi part series. I give you Part 1. Part 2 will be out soon. Im making this a multi piece of work. I'm still working on it. But I didn't want to drag this out to long. Any thoughts or criticism you have inbox me. I'd love to hear it. I haven't written in years. So I'm hella rusty. And exceedingly nervous just to post this. 🙃
⚠️WARNING ⚠️
-Swearing
-Mentions of possible sex
Brush your teeth after reading this. I'm not paying your dentist bill.
As (Y/n) stood in the mirror adding the finishing touches to her hair, Angelina and Katie were in the background talking about how they hoped the dance would go and gushing about their dates. She removed the straps from her white lacey bra and replaced them with see-through straps. As to not mess up her dress. And checked to see if she needed to make anymore last minute adjustments. Her stomach in knots with anticipation for the night to come.
-------------‐-------------------------------------------------------
Weeks prior Fred snuck (Y/n) up to the Astronomy Tower after hours under the guise to watch the stars. A favorite past time for the two. What she didn't know was that Fred had dragged George and Lee up after classes had finished to decorate. He was mad about this girl. Had been for years. It had to be just as perfect as she was because there was no way to make anyone more perfect than (Y/n)
"Why couldn't you just walk up to her after class and ask her? Or maybe owl her." Said Lee. Fred shook his head.
"Romance is dead on you isn't it." Fred retorted. To which George let out a laugh he was trying to keep quiet.
Lee glared back. "Okay Casanova. How do you plan on asking her to the ball then. Since it took you 3 years to even ask her to be your girlfriend." A smug but proud look on his face while his friend was at a loss for words.
"Why don't you ask the house elves in the kitchen to make her favorite desert. And set up a picnic. She loves those." Suggests George with a shrug.
"Maybe get Hermione's help to levitate some candles. I don't know. It wasn't this hard to ask Angie to the ball...pretty sure if I had waited any longer she'd have thrown a Quffle at my head and asked me herself on the way to the hospital wing."
"George that...that actually sounds like a great idea." Fred had to admit George did typically have the more level head and that helped him think better.
"But how do I ask her?" He said.
"Well," began Lee, "you start by opening your mouth. And then words start to come out. And as long as you don't make a complete ass of yourself maybe a few of those words will be '(Y/n) will you go to the ball with me?" He joked.
Fred rolled his eyes. And George let it a laugh.
"And as long as you aren't as big a doof as your younger brother, Ron, you won't yell it in her face." Lee shrugged.
Everyone began laughing. Recalling Ron's attempt, if you can even call it that. To ask Fleur Delacour out.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
It really had been a perfect night. And he seemed so happy with what he'd come up with. She smiled at the memory of that evening.
Placing the final tiny flower in her hair. She turned to her friends. All getting into their dresses. Each perfect representations of themselves. It too (Y/n) two weeks to find the perfect dress. It was a beautiful white dress that faded into purple. The second you tried it on your friends refused to let you leave without it.
But there was something weighing on your mind. In fact it had been weighing on your mind for awhile.
"I want to go farther with Fred." You blurted out.
Both girls stop mid sentence and stare at you. Katie's mouth open in disbelief of what just came out of your mouth. And Angelina with a slight smirk on her face.
"Are you sure about that (Y/n)? That's a pretty big deal. Just how far have you two gone exactly anyway?" Asked Katie. Curious but also trying to be the voice of reason. She didn't want you to go to far because you felt you had to. But because you wanted to.
"I mean yeah I'm sure...We've been friends for years. And we've been dating for a year. Why not?"
Angelina just sat back and assessed the whole situation. Master chaser this one. Best Gryffindor had. Just as bad as Wood, always needing to assess every possible outcome. You didn't envy anyone on that team.
"How do I even bring that kind of thing up? Do I just walk up to the punch bowl and say 'Hey Freddie we've been dating a while. Wanna just go fuck' cause that doesn't sound like a very good way to go..."
Katie unable to even for a sentence to even reply to what you just said, stood there.
Enter Angelina. World's best problem solver.
"Or you can just trick him into asking you." She said with a sly smile. "He's a man. It won't be that hard. He gets turned on simply by you walking in the room. The one cushion on the couch in the common room has officially been designated the '(Y/n) walked in the room so now Fred needs to hide the ever growing tent in his pants' cushion"
All three girls begin to giggle.
"Oh come on Angie don't you think you're exaggerating just a bit." You said.
"No. And as gaggy as it is those heated games of Truth or Dare where you've both ended up just making out, can't lie we've all been taking bets on when he'll finally snap and just ask if you're up for it."
You blushed. Fred was never one to push you to go to far. He always told you "When you're ready" and you absolutely loved him for it.
"That's it!" You yelled.
Snapping Katie out of it.
"What's it? What did I miss. Sorry I wasn't prepared for (Y/n) lewd comment" She said snidely.
"Fred always told me 'When you're ready' so I'll just be extra attentive. And when the time is right. I'll just whisper that in his ear." Simple. But effective.
"So...does that mean we have to keep the other two goobers. Occupied for the night?" Smiled Angie. She already had her own plans.
"If you think you can." You giggled with a blush forming.
"Oh we will." Both girls said in unison.
-----------‐------------‐---‐----------------------------------------
The three boys waited at the bottom of the stairs in the Gryffindor common room anxiously awaiting their dates. All talking of the excitement to come. After all having to learn to dance had been an excruciating task. Might as well have some fun with it. A babbling bumbling band of baboons did sound like a fun way to spend the evening after all.
The sound of their classmates coming down the stairs a constant reminder to Fred that she'd be down any minute. His back to the stairs, just small talk to make the time go a tad bit quicker. When George and Lee stopped mid sentence. Looking absolutely captivated by their dates. As he turned around he saw her and could swear he stopped breathing. She was absolutely stunning. Her (h/c) hair hung in loose curls down her back with a small braided bun on the lower part of her head dotted with little white and lilac colored flowers throughout. Her dress clung to her in all the right places. She looked like she came out of a painting. A painting that put all the portraits around Hogwarts to shame.
"Breathe." Whispered George with a slight nudge of his elbow.
(Y/n) stopped in front of Fred and with a smile.
"Don't you look amazing." She said. Lifting a bit to give him a kiss on the cheek.
"And you look absolutely beautiful, (Y/n). Like wow, I. Just wow" he stumbled over his words as she slowly spun her around. She giggled.
"Do you two need a minute? Or are we going to this shindig?" Retorted Lee with an eyebrow wiggle pointing between you too. Causing Katie to elbow him.
"What? If we don't separate them now, they'll just spend the entire evening up here just staring at one another." Lee shrugged as Katie slapped her head into her hand.
"And they say "Romance is dead" Angelina commented between laughs. George joining her.
A blush growing between you and Fred.
"Shall we go me lady. Before these chuckle fucks leave us behind" retorted Fred trying to lighten the mood. As he extended his arm in the most extra way possible.
"We shall." You said matching his energy by taking his arm. As the six of you all left the common room in fits of laughter.
umm i hope im not being annoying asking too much for levi but i just cant seem to get him off of my head???? lol btw if its not bothering you, what about levi with a fem s/o who is like a bunny?? like, she's small, naive, shy and kind just like a bunny and its real cute! ^_^
Lol it's okay, I won't blame you bcs He's embedded inside my head too??? Kind of strange in a positive way. But don't worry, you aren't annoying nor are you bothering me at all, dwdw <3
[🐰] Levi with a Bunny-like S/O
Fem!Reader who is basically like a bunny while Levi cries (/pos) EDITED: 25 / 2 / 22
Tumblr media
Let's be completely honest, He most definitely thought you were just a regular person. Similar to maybe Simeon or so but You're still in the Normie Category! Levi really just ignored you for the most part as He didn't wanna be associated with normies, but He wouldn't deny that you were cute though. (definitely has noticed your height before) and He grew infatuated overtime the moment you both bloomed closer and closer, until you both eventually learned to love one-another. ||🐰
Like a cliche scenario, He Definitely noticed how small you are compared to Him When you were sitting on His lap while He was playing games, It wasn't anything negative or anything! But you just looked really cute, especially when His cardigan is draped over you. It's like a large blanket... ||🐰
He also really really likes holding your hand with His, and seeing how there's a difference between the size, when He saw it He could’nt help but giggle at first. And it's even better when you both intertwine them and squeeze ever so gently. It makes Levi bubble up with the reassurance that you're there. ||🐰
He also did notice your shyness, let's not forget that. It's also one of the things you and Levi bonded over, your mutual shyness with eachother. Though He can't help but gain a small confidence boost when you shy away when He offers a gesture of affection.
Though! He doesn't mind too if He's receiving. If you're the one suggesting, He can't say no of course, He'll be a little flushed when you offer for a kiss or something like that, but He'll practically be putty in your hands the moment you're finished. ||🐰
I'd also like to think that Levi would feel a little more confident in the relationship, often not hesitate that much (keyword: that much) anymore when finally kissing your cheek or Patting your head. But when you do it, or if He has to do some High level stuff like hugging or kissing on the Lips, it's a whole other story yet to unfold. ||🐰
He also thinks your Naive like nature is also a cute trait of yours that He adores! Seeing you zoning or running to His back makes his heart flutter. Though even anything that you do never fail to make Him so happy. ||🐰
And just like that, That's how you earned the petname “Bunny!” ♡, Levi loves using it alot, and doesn't mind when you call Him that too. And He even went ahead and ordered matching bunny ears for the both of you. Guess which image is His wallpaper now? ||🐰
Bonus points; cuddling with Him, with the Height difference He'll be a big spoon. He loves hugging you and feeling you snuggle up to His chest for the access of warmth. But will He get flustered when you're the Big spoon? Yes! Yes He will. Levi is touch-starved and any sort of affection is a constant loving reassurance that you're there for Him, and sometimes it's best to just let your walls down and relax right? Levi would lay Himself comfy and snuggle up to you. ||🐰
I was full-time rushing this like It was passed due. But heyyyy sorry if this took awhile! I was pretty busy with my other drafts and s’more stuff but my schedule is clear now 🐰🐰. Writing this was so much Fun! Please don't hesitate to send another request when you feel like it anon.
Tumblr media
↳ SUNA RINTAROU
- sick of your bullshit 1.0
- he thought you just making his lunch like you normally do
- he often said that you didn’t need to but he always looks forward to lunch time when he gets to see what you made him
- so today when you made him lunch, he was not suspicious at all
- when he took a bite, he was like why? is? it? so? spicy?
- but he remained calm and just kept eating
- and by the time he was half way through his lunch is was sweating buckets
- his face was red, he was aggressively blowing his nose, sweat was dripping down his face and he was chugging bottles of water like it was nothing
- he didn’t even suspect that it was a prank, just that you have weirdly high spice tolerance
- his teammates were getting a little bit worried, seeing him stick out his tongue like a dog and fanning his face like his life depended on it
- yeah, you guys were gonna have a long conversation at home
- he had just finished his 4th water bottle when he received a text from you
lol text convo - sunas pov
m’lady: how’s the food baby? :)
me: why’s it so spicy
me: it tastes good but i think i’m dying
me: laugh out loud
m’lady: dang i didn’t think it would be THAT spicy
me: huh?
m’lady: happy april fools??
me: fuck you
m’lady: is that a promise?? 🥺🥺
me: shut up i’m crying rn
m’lady: then come home you dramatic bitch
me: i’ll remember this day you damn brat
- in conclusion pranking him sucks and he always gets you back for it
- except his pranks are 100% worse and probably emotionally traumatising
↳ OIKAWA TOORU
- this man istg he is so annoying
- this man is so needy and dramatic
- but that’s probably why you decided to do this
- he just has the best reactions for pranks
- yeah nah i have no idea what you were thinking when you decided to do this
- ditching a date with your boyfriend to hang out with your friends??
- um big mistake
“my love, are you ready for our dinner date yet?”
- yeah you weren’t, babes we going clubbing, but he didn’t know that
- and plus your outfit didn’t really speak ‘fancy dinner’
“oh tooru!! great, i need your opinions! what do you think of my outfit”
“darling, you look absolutely stunning, but a bit much for a dinner date don’t you think?”
“baby what? i’m going out with friends tonight, to the club, but don’t worry, i’ll be home early”
“my love?? we had a date tonight. did you forget? we’ve been planning this for awhile”
“tooru, what’re you talking about? i told you i was gonna go out ages ago”
“oh but-“
“oh shit tooru, i’m late, i gotta go, i’ll see you later okay? see you later my love”
- and you left, leaving your boyfriend heartbroken
- he literally dropped onto the floor clutching his chest hoping you would come home and see him, then cuddle him until the morning
- and there he laid for another 10 minutes in disgust
- how dare you leave your precious boyfriend for your friends
- you decided you were done pranking him so you enter your apartment to your boyfriend cracking open a new vodka bottle
“tooru!”
“oh... it’s you”
“um yeah”
“i thought you were going out with your friends. what? did you finally remember about the date with your handsome boyfriend?”
“tooru”
“no go away, i’m mad”
“april fools tooru”
- when i tell you this man gave you the biggest side eye
“hmph i knew that, i just wanted to see how far you would take the prank”
“okay baby, sure you did”
“pfft darling, don’t underestimate your lovely boyfriend, so come on let’s go”
“go where”
“cuddle, obviously, i still haven’t forgiven you”
- 4/10 dont prank him, he’s annoying
↳ IWAIZUMI HAJIME
- sick of your bullshit 2.0
- he swears you’re gonna give him grey hairs during his 20’s and let’s be honest you probably are
- he just worries about you too much
- he hates seeing you hurt, sick, stressed or just uncomfortable in general
- so you were hella cruel for doing this to him
*massive thud noise lol idk*
“OW, haji, HAJI it hurts please hurry it hurts so bad”
- all of a sudden your boyfriend becomes an olympic sprinter
“doll? what’s wrong baby? did you fall? is your ankle okay? do you want me to get ice? call an ambulance?”
“haji, please i don’t know, it just hurts so bad. please make it stop”
“doll it’s okay, just breathe, can you do that for me pretty girl?”
“mhm”
“good girl, it looks like you sprained your ankle, i’ll go get some ice, okay doll?”
“please hurry haji, it hurts a lot”
“it’s okay, i’m sorry, i’ll be back super quick”
- you were gonna cry, your boyfriend was being so cute and considerate
- yeah well wait until he finds out this was a prank
- in less than 2 minutes, he came running back with an ice pack
“here doll, does this feel better?”
“mhm, thank you haji, i love you”
“i love you more, c’mon i’ll carry you to the couch”
- ugh what a man
“hey haji?”
“yeah doll? what’s up?”
“happy april fools”
“huh?”
“i’m not actually injured, it was a prank”
iwaizumi: 😐😑😐
“i should have known, you fucking brat”
“hehe sorry, can i have a hug”
“no, hug yourself”
- 202/10 bc he’s husband material and has nice arms
↳ BOKUTO KOUTARO
- babie 🥺🥺
- you always loved leaving him small motivational notes for him and he loves it so much
- he always has the biggest smile whenever he sees a note that you wrote in his lunch or his duffle bag
- but today you put like 391 notes in his bag without him noticing
- so when he arrived at practice, he was hoping to get changed into his gear but was instead greeted with a pile of notes
- he picked one up at looked at it
“you look like the scum between my toes”
- okay that was mean
- so he picked up another
“your armpits smell like blue cheese”
- he could have started crying right then and there
- so he texted you
bo’s pov
me: baby :((
my pretty baby: what’s wrong my love? did something happen at practice?
me: did you put these notes in my bag? :((
my pretty baby: i did!! happy april fools baby!!
my pretty baby: did you not like it?
my pretty baby: are you sure? they might hurt your feelings
me: im sure!! im stronger than you think!! :))
- the rest of msby saw some of the notes and laughed
- atsumu texted you about how funny they were
~Tokyo revengers members Coloring Their S/O Tattoos.~
Mikey | Draken | Baji | Chifuyu
{Heya! I didn't put much into it but I hope you like it! And thank you though!}
----------------------------------------------------------
M i k e y
You had no hesitation letting him color your tattoos. “Have fun, babe.” You pinched your cheek and relaxed under the big tree you were both sitting under. Today you had thrown all your plans away just to be with mikey all day.
The wings on your forearm was now stained in hues of purple and green with accents of yellow. “So, besides today, how have you been lately?” Your gaze swayed from him to the inside of your eyelids as you were drifting to sleep slowly. “Okay, I suppose. School is annoying.” He laughed and your heart twinged with love.
You chuckled and looked down at your arm. "Mikey you done?" All you could hear was just a "hm".
“Let’s just rest for a little bit I'm tired.” You pushed the markers into the grass and your arm wrapped itself around his waist as you pulled him down and into your side. Mikey couldn’t fight it as his ear was filled with the sound of your mellowing heartbeat. Your fingers danced in his hair till you knew he was fast asleep.
You stayed awake just looking at his angelic features as the sight of your multi-colored arm shifted your focus. It was so meaningless to him but you loved it as you knew that it came from his heart and mind.
It was him– perfect.
“Y/n! ” Baji called as he stepped into the large house. “I believe she's in the gazebo or her office, Mr.” One of the worked associates greeted baji at the front door. He grabbed the bags from baji's arms as he started walking. He was off towards the back of the house to find his fiancee.
“Y/n-!” he called as he rounded the corner of the house and into the back yard. The gazebo was empty. He stopped and stared for a moment. He was sure that this is where she'd be.
“Up here, my love.” A voice said as he looked up to see Y/n at her office balcony. “Hey there” he waved as your eyes squinted in a smile. “How was your day out?” you asked as you brought your teacup up to your lips. “It was okay~I have something to show you!” he called and held up a small shopping bag in his large hand. “I’ll be right up!” he raced back into the house and up the stairs to where you already stood waiting for him in the doorway to your office.
“What’s so amazing that you found today?” your eyebrow raised and he opened the bag quickly. “But first-” You interrupted you as you grabbed his face gently and gave him a passionate kiss. “What’s this for?” he asked as he continued to stare at your face lovingly. “Just happy to see you is all.” You smiled.
“Now, show mee.” he motioned to one of his hands that was stuck in the bag he held. He was brought back to reality and pulled the plastic package out of the bag.
“…Markers?” you asked and your tone of voice made him laugh. “Not just any markers. They’re tattoo markers. They’re safe for the skin.” He corrected you and you rolled your eyes. “You’re still on this?” You asked with an amused expression. “Of course I am! This was the deal and my love for you is way too much so.” he said shoving them into your hands so you could inspect the box.
You read the back and you had to admit he was right.
“You said I could color your tattoos IF I found tattoo markers. Safe for the skin and everything!” You knew he did it and that you had to hold up your part of the deal. “Okay fine.” You sighed as you handed the package back. “Yay! Beautiful Thank you!” He jumped and laid a gentle kiss on your nose.
“We can do it later before dinner.” You agreed.
—-
“Finally! You take forever.” He sighed as you moved your sunglasses up your nose. The grass tickled your bare legs as baji sat next to you. “I couldn’t help it. Chifuyu that jackass didn’t want to hang up the phone.” he stood on his knees and moved behind you. His hands gently rubbed your shoulders as your head fell in an exasperated manner.
“I hate to burst your bubble, Y/n. But, I called you out here for the deal. Not a massage.” You whined as you flopped down on the grass, your t-shirt lifting on your back.
“If this stains, I will make sure to throw out all color in your life. Your life will be a dull kaleidoscope-” “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, you big baby.” He laughed and opened his pouch full of the tattoo markers.
He lifted the back of your shirt more till the full picture was revealed. A dragon with demons following was the full picture- a dark reality…that he were going to make colorful. What can he do he loves your tattoos so much.
He sat on his lower back and got to work filling in the different parts of the dragon. Every once in awhile you would spasm and try to make him mess-up. Yet, with a slight tug on your hair, you would become limp and obedient again.
“I’m almost done.” Was the phrase that almost made you weep with joy. “Finally.” You let it slip and you felt a tug on your hair again. “Ow.” You rubbed your head. You could feel him draw and move the felt-tipped weapons on his back.
“Finished.” He cheered and grabbed his phone to take a picture. He showed it to you and ombre scaled decorated the dragon with the demon’s faces were colored red and blue. It looked nice. You saw a couple of smiley faces hidden in there and felt like everything looked complete.
“Okay, my turn now!” You yelled and grabbed his arm. You struggled and pulled him to the ground and grabbed the black marker that was in his hand. “Y/n, no.” he said strictly. “This wasn’t apart of the deal.” He expressed. “Excuse me? Sorry, I don’t speak Japanese.” Your english rambled off quickly from your tongue. He decided to just deal with it as you took your time drawing a mustache on his face along with random doodles you could think of.
You finally stopped your antics and took a picture with your phone to look at afterward. “You look so cute, look!” You pulled up the picture and shoved it in his face. “I look gross man!” He ridiculed but you wrapped him up in your arms quickly,
“My gross man.”
D r a k e n
You were on your period and hell you were pissed, your mood swings were just making the situation more shitty.
Draken on the other hand was just trying to help you but every now and then you'd snap at him for absolute no reason. "Oi, can you stop whining for once?"
He said with pretty much no emotion at all. And that's all it took for you to break down in tears.
Draken was taken aback, "babe hey, hey, I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that please stop crying- I". “Wanna play tic-tac-toe?” He asked and you looked around, surprised he was asking. “Um-” He didn’t wait for an answer and grabbed your legs– pulling you closer to where he sat.
Draken took the permanent markers out which was on the floor for god knows why. You wiped the rest of your tears and grabbed the orange marker out of his hand. He lifted the sleeve of his long shirt and created the grid in black ink. “Wanna go first?” He asked and you took the opportunity to land an 'X’ in the grid.
“Fine. You win this tournament. But, I know I’ll win next time.” You said laying back and closing his eyes.
The bottom of your shirt lifted and he could see the familiar black ink on your side. “Stop staring at me like that, pervert. I have rights.” You pulled your shirt down and he let a laugh rip through your chest.
“Chill. I was just looking at your tattoo.” He said and you shrugged. “What about 'em?” You asked as his eyes closed once more. “Nothing. Just looking,” he sighed, “I wanted to be a tattoo artist before all of this.” One eye peeked open and you looked suspiciously at his figure. “Are you any good?"
Draken just chuckled at your question.
~~
“Give me one!” You lifted the side of your shirt and waited patiently.
He shrugged, finding nothing else better to do. You already had black ink staining your skin so he decided to add on. It was another simple dragon but it fit your character and personality perfectly.
Time seemed to slow as you tried to take a sneak peek of the masterpiece he were currently working on. You planned to take a picture later and get it done, yet, it would have to be in secret.
All of a sudden, the bedroom door popped open. “Welcome back to Earth.” Mikey greeted. He capped the marker and helped you up.
"Why are you here" You asked while getting up, "Rude Y/n Chan, I'm still gonna answer your question though POLITELY, Ken-chin called us here so that we can go on a short trip or something to make your day better. Right ken-chin". Mikey looked over at draken, "Right whatever, can we go now?" He looked over at you for your response and all you did was kissed his neck because of your damn height and tagged along behind Mikey.
“Woah. You got a new tattoo?” Hina said as she lifted up your shirt and you shooed her hands away.
“Eventually.”
C h i f u y u
"I GONNA THROW UP ON YOU WITH ALL MY MIGHT IF YOU TRY TO GET NEAR MY TATTOOS MISTER " You exclaimed loudly as he started following you like a lost puppy around the kitchen, where you were busy making your 'grilled cheese'.
"Babe C'mom little color won't hurt and it's not like I'm trying to bite your tattoos off-". " See, there you said it, you're exactly gonna bite my tattoos off" Chifuyu sighed having enough of your nothings, he suddenly back hugged you, you can feel his large hands wrapped around your hip.
"What do you think you're doing?". You asked as you turned around to see his face,
"If you're not gonna let me color your tattoos then I prefer to stick with you like a koala, and you sure as hell know I ain't letting go." Chifuyu said and you eventually gave up because you knew nothing will change even if you don't agree with fuyu.
So now here you are sitting on chifuyu's lap as he continued to color the wallflower on your shoulder. "You done?". "Hold on a minute babe it's almost over, -All done" Chifuyu replied.
You sat up and started making your way to the mirror to see what he actually did " Y/N!!! Wait" chifuyu voice said and you turned around to see your boyfriend running over to you.
"Wha-", before you could finish your sentence he lifted you up and threw you over his shoulder. "The actual fuck chifuyu, what did you do! PUT ME DOWN YOU ASS"
"It's just better if you don't see it ya know, and I'll make sure you don't see it until I leave" Chifuyu chuckled quietly as he continued making his way to your bedroom.
OLAY SO UH IDK IF REQUESTS ARE STILL OPEN BUTT
Mutual pining hcs😩🙏
It can be with any character :D (cause I'm a whorー)
Tumblr media
‘to love(d) you’
summaries : mutual pining trope // where genshin men fall in love with you but couldn’t drove their confession out of their face because how scared they were from your refusal.
characters : diluc x GN!Reader (seperate)
contains : slight angst, comfort/hurt, implementations of unrequited love, slight fluff.
A/N : funfact, i don’t know what’s mutual pining is until i search it on google sO IM REALLY SORRY IF THIS ISNT WHAT YOU WANT IN THE FIRST PLACE. anyways, thank you very much for requesting!! sorry if it’s pretty short, though i hope you like it. I’ll also make this fic into one of my happy ending angst so..make sure to prepare yourself HAHHA
DILUC
- as a nobleman, Diluc is familiar to those who ‘love’ him for his fortune. He was really annoyed by it in the first place, their action and plea became his first reason to ran-away from monstadt. As once, he almost kicked them from their resident after corrupting his clan’s money for their own bargains. He was severely exhausted by these scums behaviour, although he still couldn’t complaint about it. After all, he is Diluc Ragnvindr, A perfect gentlemen from the mighty Ragnvindr Clan.
- his first ever meeting with you are at the winery job recruitment proceeding. you were concerned and anxious. Elizer even took you as a ‘lost cat’ instead of a recruits. You look like you have no reason but to apply to this job for your family finance, although diluc would say he has a bad feeling about your decision, He still recruits you right away as his personal assistant.
- working as diluc personal assistant is pretty interesting…he would let you know about his favorite food, his favorite flowers, favorite fragrant, and lastly you would always feel as if it there’s an affection between both of you. And..As For Diluc, all of the things he have done for you are only a test for him to know how serious you were working for him instead of being a financial-parasite for him who plead for his fortune.
- what he doesn’t know about, is the tiny side of him who’s actually trying to know you better. He was trying to get close to you, why? No reason. He only did this because of his interest towards you. You’ve always looked so beautiful with those hairpins he lend you. even when he was out of his facades guard, he compliment you as bluntly as his mouth could guide him to. You smile purely and respect his personal side, what could be better from someone who respect his life after all the times he been bothered by the parasites living on his steps?
- but now, did he realize it? Did he realize the fact he fells for you? He still took you as an assistant, an only assistant. But are you really his assistant in the first place? Diluc have already fell for you, does that explains enough..? Kaeya even teased him awhile back for not accepting the truth of his emotions towards you, it even raged kaeya to know that both of you have mutual feelings for each other yet still never approach the others arm. Bullshit, kaeya quoted
- “master di— i mean, diluc pardon me..i’m here to resigned myself from the winery since my family hav–“
- “you’re going to resigned yourself..?” , diluc cutted your words and turn to your gaze immediatly. Thinking he did something wrong to pissed you and your family, he was so concern he could even saw his poker-face break in no time. He try to reach his normal tone while asking for your reply, but still, his tone are frail as ever.
- “i apologize diluc, but my family need to go back to liyue in the next 2 days..the favonious couldn’t repay our debt and so, we’re prevented from monstadt.. i need you to understand this, i just couldn’t make myself to tell you yesterday because i—“
- “then, alright. I understand that and i also allowed you to resigned tomorrow, just..please meet me tomorrow at the tavern after you finished the paperwork, i’ll be waiting.” Short and sorrow, diluc cutted your answer and explanation. It was normal for him to do so, but why does it hurt so much?
- the next day, as you both promised. You came into the unordinary quiet tavern. It was quiet out of the box since how quiet it were, you think diluc arranges this for you but who knows? The master of the ragnvindr clan are the mysterious one indeed.
- “i don’t know how to properly say goodbye but before hand..please do accept my confession, i love you (name)..so much, in fact i wish you to stay forever..i-i just couldn’t make myself say such a word, but i love you..i really do..”
- cracked voice and sobs turn their way to his poker face. He was a dissastrous and you know it. Yet you still accept him the same as ever
- “i won’t go anywhere haha..i shall stay with you, diluc. I’ll be back soon, i love you too, keep it in my mind would you? I’ll be back home, to you..”
- he kisses the palm of your hands in goodbye, his tears fall to your palm as you wipe the unremarkable scars in his face. He’s really yours for tonight and forever. He wants to keep the night the same as forever, but diluc know his lover wouldn’t hesitate to meet him again in the future, so he say goodbye for the first time ever as he watch them love him again in the future of his predictment.
- first goodbye came and their marriage are going to be held in 5 months start from now. how time flies. even after this long lost love and relationship the two of you kept, he still loves you the same as ever.
“how i wish you could stay longer in this nation of freedom with your doting husband sweetheart..comeback to me again, won’t you?”
A Child to Protect (pt 5)
tommy x child!reader || Confronting an old friend
tommy comes home to tubbo and ranboo waiting in the living room for...something.
pt1 pt 2 pt3 pt4
masterlist
sorry this took awhile, i was having some struggles lmao. its not the best but the next few parts will hopefully be good lol
word count: 3215
ask if you wanna be tagged for this seires lmao
~~~~~~~~~
Techno sat in the main part of the room with ranboo and tubbo. They stared at each other awkwardly. Honestly tubbo didn't expect to be in the piglins home today, especially after what had happened. Ranboo shuffled in his seat, uncomfortable with the tension in the air. They saw techno almost glare at tubbo, while the goat in turn decided to glare back.
“Um, are you two okay?” ranboo asked the two of them. Techno nodded, not saying a word, as usual. He was just waiting for Tommy to get there to change the focus or something. Tubbo didn't do anything to acknowledge the question, just glaring at the piglin. “Okay, this is awkward." The enderman whispers to themself. "Techno, hows living in the tundra?” techno looks at ranboo with a blank face, tired of having these two here. “cold.” ranboo nodded. ‘Cold’ not being the answer they were looking for. “Oookay. Tubbo, do you like the tundra at all?'' Tubbo shook his head, having a stare down with the piglin, who had gone back to glaring at the hybrid. “No.”
Ranboo sighed, slinking down into the chair. “You guys are helpless…” ranboo says, sighing tiredly. Just then, there was a knock on the door. Techno jumped up from his seat and looked out the window to see who it was. He smiled, opening the door to the mystery guest. “Finally you're here. Now they can focus their attention on you instead. Good luck with that.” techno says. He moved to reveal Tommy, carrying his kid with him.
Tubbo and ranboo stood up, shocked to see their supposed deceased friend, standing in the doorway holding a child. Ranboo walked over cautiously. “Tommy?” he asked. Tommy looked up at the tall enderman. He nodded, holding the young kid tightly. He really didn't wanna be there, but he knew his kid needed to be back here.
 (y/n) looked up at the enderman hybrid, smiling brightly. “Endy endy!!” they said. Ranboo looked down at them, confused a bit. “Whos this?” they asked the young boy. The kid continued to say ‘endy’ while the two of them talked.
Tommy sighed. “This is my kid..(y/n)” he says, looking at the young child. Ranboo looks at the small child, who smiled at them happily. “Endy!!” they said once more. “No no (y/n), this is ranboo. The good man i told you about.” (y/n) smiled even wider. “Ran ran!!!! Papa told me about you!!!! Good man, good man!!” they said.
The child's presence lifted the awkward atmosphere that once resided in the room. (y/n) smiled at the enderman, who was nearly in tears from the fact tommy was alive and well, raising a child at that. Ranboo immediately hugged two of them, scarring tommy. “Aye aye get off!” tommy said, not knowing how else to respond. “Sorry sorry, i'm just really happy your alive.” tommy looked at ranboo, gapping his mouth. “Dead!? Why would you think that???” tommy asked. Ranboo smiled awkwardly. “Well…” “tommy?” the two of them turned their head to see their part goat friend, who had finally spoken up.
“Tubbo..” tommy says, stepping around ranboo to see his old friend. “Ranboo take (y/n).” tommy instructs. Ranboo nodes, taking the small child, who wasn't too happy to leave their father.
Tommy walks closer to his old friend, who was shocked to see him, barely able to say anything. “Y-your alive!! I thought you died-``Tubbo couldn't continue his sentence. He missed his old friend, and was really happy to see him! He just felt terrible for sending him to his near death…even if it was the only option he had.
Techno and ranboo went outside, leaving the two of them alone (though techno tried to leave several times). (y/n) was sad they couldn't play with their father, but they did have a new friend, who was really nice.
“Is papa okay?” the young one asked. “Yeah I think he's gonna be fine..wanna play in the snow?” ranboo asked the kid. They nodded, being set down and running into the snow. The enderman chuckled, watching them pick themselves back up and falling again. The enderman did notice, however, the many snowmen that littered the lawn. Some looked like people they knew, one even looked like them. they smiled, seeing the young child show off the one they made of their father.
Back in the house, Tommy and tubbo stood in the middle of the home, staring at each other intensely.
"So...you're alive? Living with techno?" Tubbo asks, breaking the heavy silence. "Why would you think I'd be dead??" Tubbo looked down a bit. "Well, everything was destroyed and...there was a tower I- I thought you…." Tubbo trails off before finishing. “Oh, that..” Tommy looked down a bit, frowning. “Why'd you do it? Why'd you send me away to isolation? `` Tubbo frowns, tilting his head. “It wasn't supposed to be isolation. I-i thought you just chose to live there..”
Tommy went over and sat down, sighing. “I really dont wanna talk about this. Can you just tell ranboo to bring (y/n) in here..” tubbo shook his head. “I feel like we need to talk about this, I mean you've been gone for months! You have a kid! What happened?” tommy glared at tubbo. “I told you i dont wanna talk about it, just drop it.” he says, getting up again and heading to the front door. “No! We’re talking about this.” Tubbo goes over and grabs Tommy's arm. He yanks it away from him. “I told you I'm not talking about it! Fucking drop it already!” tubbo let go, stepping back slightly.
“Why won't you talk to me? We’re best friends-”
“We haven't been friends since the exile, since one of your men came here and nearly killed my child! The only reason i wasn't here was cause that lunatic tried to attack me!” tubbo shook his head. “I'm not the one that sent him here-”
“Then explain to me why you're here!”
 the yelling started to get louder, leaving the young child to be concerned. They looked up at ranboo, who was silently screaming cause of the snow. “Ran ran are you sure papas okay? There's a lot of yelling..” ranboo looked over to the house, noticing the yelling as well. “I-im not sure, but we shouldn't interrupt them…” (y/n) looked over to the house, really wanting to see their father. They gasped, remembering a way they could get inside.
“Ran ran!! Follow follow!!” they say, pulling on the endermans pant leg. Ranboo sighed, following the small child to wherever they were gonna bring him. “I'll just stay here!” techno says, laying in the snow.
They, basically waddled, to the back of the house. Ranboo looked around, not really seeing anything. “What did you wanna show me?” they asked. (y/n) looked up at ranboo, pointing to the wall. “Break.” they stood, a bit confused. “You want me to take some of the wall?” the kid nodded, pointing to the wall. “Enderman do the same! Just break.” they nodded, kinda understanding what they were asking. They didnt know if the other two would notice, but they normally break blocks pretty silently anyways.
Ranboo looked at the wall, seeing where the chests would be and where the fireplace was, and broke one of the blocks. They looked in between the chests to see that the others were still arguing and hadn't noticed them. (y/n) pulled on the hybrids pant leg, signaling for them to pick them up to see. Ranboo does so, gesturing for them to be quiet.
Back with the other two, they were having a heated argument. Discussing quackity and his actions, discussing Tommy and his exile, along with bringing up the past such as wilbur and old lmanburg.
“Well I'm sorry we decided to even form the country! Y'know, we all wanted to find independence!” tubbo says, snapping at tommy.
“It's not that! Its new lmanburg, its lost all meaning!! One of your men, whent and tried to kill techno and I! You said you didn't even send him here!! “
“Why do you keep saying ‘your men’, you know this is also your country right?”
Tommy glares at Tubbo, stepping away from him. “It hasn't been my country, for a long time. Not sense schlatt took over.'' Tommy looks over, avoiding tubbos' gaze. “Technos gonna destroy the country, and I won't stop him. I know how he is, he's gonna want it gone. Maybe once it is gone, we can start over, not with a country but with a place we could just...live. Together, all of us..'' Tommy says, looking back at tubbo. “You want lmanburg gone? After all we've done!? After what we lost to gain independence!!??'' Tommy nodded. “Lmanburg is more the people than the land. If we’re all together, it'll be the same. The same old lmanburg.”
Tubbo sighs, still angry at the blond before him. “You gave dream the discs for this place, you gave him the one thing we had! Now you wanna get rid of the country we traded it for?”
“Well, who said we werent gonna get them back?” tommy steps forward again. “You have one of them right?” tubbo nodded, staring at the enderchest in the room. “We already have half of what we need, all we need to do is get the last one. You prepared to lose lmanburg to get them back?” tommy asked. Tubbo contemplated for a second. “No, I'm not. But…"
The two of them talked, no longer upset at the other. They were best friends for years, it's hard to stay mad at each other. Ranboo and (y/n) looked at each other, confused as to how they had just calmed down after such a heated argument. (y/n) ran back over to the front of the house, ranboo running after them. “No no, (y/n) come back please!” (y/n) didn't listen, instead running to the front of the house and trying to open the door. It was left ajar, so it was easy to do so.
“Dad!!” the young kid said, rushing over towards their father. Tommy looked over to see his kid run over towards him. He smiled as they ran into his legs. He picks them up. "Hey kiddo, whatcha doing back here? Weren't you playing outside playing with ranboo?" They nodded. "Yeah but I was worried!! There was yelling…" Tommy sighs, ruffling the young kids' hair. "I'm okay lil (n/n), everythings alright. Big man Tommy was just talking to tubbo." They looked over to the boy in question, who awkwardly stood there.
"I think I should get going. Don't wanna make things worse.” (y/n) looked at the goat hybrid and frowned. They pushed their way out of tommys arms, landing on the floor with a huff. Everyone just stared at the young kid as they picked themself up and ran into the goats legs. “Tub don't go! You just got here…” tubbo smiled a bit, leaning down to be eye to eye as (y/n). “I don't think I should stick around. Maybe I'll see you again..” they hugged tubbo, repeating for him not to leave.
Ranboo picked up the small child, who did not wanna be picked up. “He needs to leave (n/n). Don't worry, you'll see him again.” they huff, nodding. Ranboo chuckled at this.
Tubbo stood back up looking at tommy once more. “Goodbye tommy. I hope your happy.” with that, tubbo left, leaving ranboo and tommy behind. Tubbo passed by techno as he left, noticing how he was just sitting in front of the door. “Why are you sitting out here?” techno looked up at the male. “Idk mr.government, maybe because i got kicked out of my own home. Again.” tubbo sighed, opting to just ignore the piglin and continue on his way to lmanburg.
Ranboo looked over at Tommy, who seemed to be processing a lot of emotions. Tommy looked over and ranboo and (y/n), smiling a bit before sitting down in one of the few chairs in the room.
“I really don't like that kid. I don't know why he bothered to come here.” technoblade says, closing the front door that had started to let snow in. He went over to brew some potions, as he needed to go to lmanburg the next day. Ranboo sighed, letting (y/n) out of their arms. They shifted slightly. (y/n) went over to sit with Tommy, who held them tightly. “Um, i think i should leave as well, don't wanna overstay my welcome.” technoblade chuckled a bit. “You don't have to leave, kid. I think you should stay for at least dinner. If you want.” tommy nodded, not really wanting the enderman to leave.
“Oh, well thank you techno, tommy.'' Just then, the door swung open, letting in even more cold air than there already was. They all turned to see philza, who looked like he had just ran here. “What the FUCK happend in lmanburg??” techno looked at Phil a bit confused. “Oh the quackity thing?”
Philza walked in, closing the door. “Yeah but also, why the hell is fundy and quackity dead and WHY IS THE PLACE ON FIRE?? Techno i told you not to do this high level of terrorism yet.” techno looked confused, stopping his potion brewing. “I didn't set the place on fire? I did kill those two tho, they did not fight back. Well, quackity did but he sucks at it.”
“Wait then who set the place on fire?” phil asked, no longer upset. “Oh i did.” they turned to ranboo, who raised their hand up slightly. “What?”
“All i did was set the place on fire as a diversion..”
“Mate the place is basically gone now..” philza said, sitting next to tommy. Ranboo chuckled. “Yeaaahh that wasn't the plan. I just wanted to create a diversion to get out of there..” techno chuckled. “Didn't notice that was you. Good job kid.” techno went back to his brewing, making a bunch of invis potions. “Dadza!” (y/n) said, now noticing the winged man who had sat next to them. They were too focused on tommys scarf. Phil chuckled, picking up the small child. “Hey kiddo. How has things been while i was gone?” tommy chuckled seeing the two of them talk. (y/n) talked about all the things they did in the time he was gone. Ranboo went over to help techno make potions, grabbing things he needed and such.
It was peaceful like this. Tommy phil and (y/n) all chatted amongst themselves, (y/n) on occasion playing with some random item in the house. When techno and ranboo were done with the potions, they joined the others in their conversation, all of them talking and cracking jokes amongst themselves. It was peaceful, there were no countries or wars, no dream, no trauma, none of that. It was just a couple of friends or family, talking and having fun.
Somewhere down the line, phil and techno whent to make dinner, sense it was awhile sense (y/n) or anyone had eaten any food. The 3 kids decided to play around with some swords tommy and techno had made. (y/n) chased the other two around, playfully trying to hit them whenever they got close. Ranboo dramatically died when (y/n) had stabbed them, while Tommy vowed revenge on the small child. He poked them with the sword, saying he had defeated the evil. (y/n) went into a fit of giggles, saying they could never die cause their immortal, and in turn stabbed tommy. He wanted to stubbornly try to beat them, but he thought it was more fun to go with it. Tommy dramatically dropped his sword and fell to the floor, pretending to be ‘dead’.
“Stop playing around, foods done.” techno said, entering the main part of the room. (y/n) jumped up, running into the kitchen, excited for food. Ranboo and Tommy got up from their laying positions, wanting to get some food as well.
So they ate, continuing to talk to each other as they did before. Ranboo felt a bit awkward being there, but overtime he felt more comfortable. Tommy talked to phil and techno, occasionally having to tell (y/n) to actually eat their food.
Once supper was over, phil has suggested that ranboo stays with tommy and (y/n) for the night, since it had already gotten dark out. Techno and ranboo both protested, granted for different reasons, though no one can fight philza. (y/n) was really giddy about this, running around their bedroom, knocking into the prime log a few times. Ranboo climbed down the latter, seeing this. Tommy was making sure they didn't run into the log again, not noticing the enderman.
“(y/n) you know it's time for bed.” Tommy says, grabbing his kid as they try to run away. “No! No sleep!” they tried to wrestle out of tommys arms, it obviously didn't work. “Yes, sleep. Your gonna get too tired to run soon anyways.`` He places them in their bed, trying to make them stay. Ranboo walks over, crouching down to see the kid better, they smiled when they saw the tall enderman. “Ran!!” they said, making the grabby hands at the tall enderman. They smiled, ruffling the kids hair. “(y/n) you need to sleep.” is all ranboo says, making (y/n) frown. “How bout this, i'll give you a cookie tomorrow if you sleep. Deal?” tommy asked. They nodded, laying down on their bed. They both laughed, tommy tucking them in for the night while ranboo stood up, not sure on what to do.
Tommy got up soon after, looking over at ranboo had just stood there. “You can sleep on my bed big man, I'll either make another one or just sleep on the floor.” Tommy says, going over to his chest in the corner, seeing if he had any left over wool. Ranboo shook their head. “No no, I can sleep on the floor, it's fine. This is your home after all.” tommy looked over at ranboo, glaring at him. “You will listen, bitch.” ranboo sighed. “Fine fine, I'm just saying..” ranboo walked over to the bed, sitting down on it, watching Tommy mess around with some wood and wool.
When Tommy was done, he put the bed in a random spot in the room. Tommy turned off the only light in the room, signalling that they were going to bed. Ranboo laid down, followed by tommy. They laid like that for a while, not really being able to sleep.
Ranboo looked over, sighing quietly to themself. “I'm sorry about the whole tubbo thing..it wasn't our plan to come here after what happened..”
“Its fine, it was bound to happen eventually. Thanks for staying with my kid for a bit,you didn't have to…” ranboo nodded. “It was no trouble, they seem to like me.” ranboo says, looking over to see the sleeping child next to them. “Well, still. Thank you ranboo. Your a good man.”
“So are you tommy..”
They sleep after that, finally being able to rest for the night.

“your turn”
Harry Styles was a romantic. He hated weddings. Rori Williams was practical. She hated weddings, too. How could she deny a man who had just drunkenly confessed his love for her at a wedding? Even if it was completely and totally untrue.
A story of two semi-strangers to lovers with weddings, drunken confessions, and girls with two names.
Tumblr media
gif has nothing to do with it but he looks fancy and i like it :) tpwk

Word Count: 9.3k | Warnings: drinking, swearing, implied? smut (couldn’t bring my heart to write any my apologies), harry being a silly drunk, mentions of being afraid of someone taking advantage of someone under the influence but ofc no! actual any misconduct -- a SITCH wedding!!! so cute ::))
Harry Styles was a romantic.
He loved love songs that professed their undying love for their significant other. He loved romance movies, rom coms especially, because they were happy and in love and he got to cry and laugh all in one. He loved writing his own songs about love and he loved spreading the idea of loving and treating others with kindness. He loved first dates and the relationships that sometimes sprouted out of them. He loved reading books about love and how to make it last. He loved poetry that waxed eloquent about love. He loved love.
He hated weddings.
Well, he hadn’t always hated weddings. In the beginning, they were like every other aspect of love, he loved them. But slowly, as he kept receiving announcements of engagement and wedding invitations and he kept not sending out letters of his own, his aversion grew.
Sure, he still loved going. He still wept for the happy couples when they committed themselves to each other. He still clapped profusely and danced to the dj or live band. He still tried to enjoy it. But with weddings he had a nagging sense in the back of his head reminding him that he still hadn’t found it yet. Each of his relationships had fallen short in some way as to not lead him to this destination. So when he sat at his assigned table at these various gatherings, he held a bit of apprehension, a bit of envy, about everything going on. He knew that his smiles were all a little forced and his laugh not quite genuine. His thoughts always managed to be controlled by his green-eyed monster that he always attempted to keep locked away. But at weddings, especially when the alcohol started flowing, he had a harder time controlling it.
Seeing all his friends getting together, getting married, and having children wore on him. Wore him thin more than he ever let on to anyone but his therapist. And his therapist couldn’t seem to give him a better answer than to be patient and not give up hope.
By 2021, Harry had decided that maybe he was just meant to be alone. Love was something he could admire, but it wasn’t meant for him. He could chase it, but it would never let him have it. He was unlucky in love and by Sarah and Mitch’s wedding in the Spring, he had come to terms with it.
He had even been optimistic for it, being Mitch’s Best Man and all had gotten his hopelessly romantic heart all aflutter. He was introduced to Sarah’s Maid of Honor, Renee Williams and she had been lovely. She was 31, a little older than Harry - but age wasn’t something that deterred him, and she had worked with Sarah in Los Angeles before Harry recruited Sarah for the band. They were best of friends and Sarah had known for a long time that Renee would be her Maid of Honor.
When Harry met Renee, he was sure that she was meant to be his person. She was beautiful and hilarious, her beauty mark at the side of her lip was so utterly unique he called her a “right Marilyn”. She insisted she was not a Marilyn Monroe type at all and had laughed. Harry had charmed her with his expert flirting and claimed that just because she was a brunette didn’t mean she was a Marilyn. She had smiled and bantered through the rehearsal dinner with him at her side. He was entranced, it had to be Renee, he had been so sure of it.
When Renee had walked down the aisle just before Sarah, Harry had been sure of it. When Renee had smiled at Harry as Mitch slipped on Sarah’s wedding band, Harry had been sure of it. When he had hooked his arm around hers as they walked down the aisle and into a foyer, Harry had been sure of it. When she laughed at his jokes while they waited for their wedding party photos to be taken, Harry had been sure of it.
When Renee walked up to Harry at the reception with another man wrapped around her, Harry wasn’t so sure of it anymore.
“Harry, I’d like you to meet my boyfriend, Corey,” Renee smiles giddily between the two men.
Harry’s eyes widen slightly at the word ‘boyfriend’ and he swallows harshly before blinking and putting on a sweet smile. He thrusts his right hand out for Corey to shake.
“Hullo, mate,” Harry says happily.
Corey greets Harry, extending his hand to meet Harry’s with a warm smile and a “how are you”. Harry laughs boisterously and takes a sip of his champagne flute. They shake hands with a firm up and down motion.
“Planning on getting really drunk,” Harry says in response to Corey’s question. “Have a great night, you two,” he finishes and stalks off for a refill.
Renee watches him go with a little bit of a confused look on her face. She sees him tilt his head back and finish his drink before turning to face her boyfriend and peck his cheek. She mumbles to him, “He’s a really nice guy, wouldn’t stop chatting my ear off the past few days. All these people must make him antsy.”
He nods back to her, “They must.”
Harry sidles up to the open bar, discarding his empty flute and exchanging it for a much stronger drink.
“Tequila. Neat...Please.” He sighs and runs a hand through his curls that are slowly becoming less and less coiffed. His fingers slide to the collar of his shirt and tug, attempting to loosen it a little.
“Rough night already?” Someone asks from beside him.
His face turns to them and sees a smiling brunette. Her eyes are big, larger than most eyes he’s come across. They’re brown with tinges of gold and green, likely making them hazel by her standard since most people prefer saying hazel eyes to brown. Her smile is bright and clean and if Harry hadn’t already heard her speak he would assume she was American from that smile. It was perfect, too perfect - the teeth both straight and blindingly white.
He raises his eyebrows at her and thinks about his response. His tongue darts out to wet his lips, leaving them parted, but he remains silent when the bartender hands him his tequila. Harry wraps a specifically less ringed hand tonight, he had forgone his ‘H’ and ‘S’ rings as well as the rest of them actually on his left hand. His right hand still had two: the large flashing lavender gemstone encrusted in a gold casing from Stevie Nicks on his middle finger and then a clean gold signet ring with little crosses on the sides on the adjacent ring finger. Every other finger was noticeably empty. So when he picks up the glass there is no familiar clink which draws the attention of himself.
The woman doesn’t pay any attention to his hand, she’s still waiting for him to respond to her question, as well as waiting for her other drink to be made. She was taking advantage of the two drink system and getting two for herself right now, so she didn’t have to come back until much later.
“You have no idea,” is how Harry decides to respond and then turns to leave. He forgets about the woman and sits at his assigned table for his entire drink, talking casually with the people who come to speak with him.
When he's finished, he goes back to the bar to order a second tequila. He thinks about the girl who had stared at him with her big brown eyes. How she had seen him and thought to ask how his night was when it seemed to be going to shit. And how he had blown her off with barely a glance. God, he could be such a prick. After he receives his drink, he forgets yet again and continues to drown his sorrows in the golden liquid that helps him numb the pain that he had once again missed out on his fairytale love story.
The girl Harry had run into sat in the corner of the ballroom for the majority of the night. She settled on just having that first round of drinks for herself and one glass of obligatory champagne during the toasts. Other than that, she had promised herself she wouldn’t get drunk and go off with a random stranger. This was not a wedding for that. This wedding couldn’t be for that. She just needed to keep her head low and try to have a semi-pleasant time.
When she was nursing her champagne through the toasts, the man at the bar caught her eye again. She knew who he was. He was the Best Man after all. Sarah talked about him a lot, even Renee after the past few days, but seeing him at the bar had been the first time she’d ever seen him up that close. It was strange, he was so human. So tangible in that moment. His shoulders shook with each breath he took. His fingers tapped as they waited for his drink. His green eyes blinked and darted around as he took in his surroundings and even looked at her. He simply was and it had startled her to see him in a slightly bewildered state at the bar, but again, she wasn’t one to judge.
Get through the wedding. Try to have a semi-pleasant time.
It was time for the Best Man’s speech. Renee had just given the Maid of Honor’s and now Harry was up. He stood up and wavered a little as he tried to stand up straight. The neat tequila likely makes his stance a little harder to maintain. Mitch looks up at Harry at his side and smiles fondly.
Harry raises one hand in an awkward wave while the other is planted firmly on the table.
“Hullo,” he starts, “I’m Harry and I’m the Best Man, but I’m sure you knew that already.”
The entire group of guests laugh wholeheartedly, taken by the talented young man.
“To start,” he stutters, his words slurring slightly from the alcohol he’s had, and his smile slithers into a smirk. “Let’s hear it for the bride and groom, the lovely Sarah and Mitch Jones!”
Queue the laughter again. Harry laughs too when Mitch slaps his arm playfully, he turns to look at him with a mock ‘what did I do wrong’ expression.
“I had a speech written out, took a week to write, made it nice and poetic for these two lovebirds, but it seems I’ve misplaced it,” he pats at his pockets and sighs before rubbing his forefinger at his bottom lip. “I hate weddings.”
Everyone laughs again, thinking he’s joking. Harry grimaces but it passes as a smile even though she can tell it doesn’t meet his eyes.
He rambles on for a few minutes about love and commitment, how this is just the beginning for Sarah and Mitch and everyone laughs at the appropriate times and just when he’s wrapping up, successfully stumbling through his messy mind, everyone begins to clap.
“To the happy couple…” queue applause, but she sees him say something else, it’s drowned out by the crowd cheering and clinking glasses again.
He sits back down, downing his champagne glass that’s been refilled twice already during the speeches. Mitch leans over and whispers something in Harry’s ear as he twists a hand through his hair. Harry shifts away from Mitch and gives him a look, telling Mitch that he’s fine.
The party goes on, a few more speeches, a few more glasses of champagne for Harry, a few more sighs from the girl in the back of the room.
She watches the first dance of Mitch and Sarah but once that part is over she slinks off. She’s got half a drink left and all she wants is to be alone. Tired of the party, tired of the people, tired of having to try to have a good time. The Rowland-Jones Party had rented the entire place out, so she wanders out of the main room and down a hallway until the music is a faint buzz in her ear. The air grows colder as the amount of people dwindles from over a hundred to one.
There’s a door to her right that has an intricate golden handle that she pulls down on. It opens quietly onto a similar ballroom that is slightly smaller than the one the party was going on in. It’s quiet and spacious, her steps echo as she enters on heeled feet. The clicking of her satin stilettos resonate against the linoleum. She walks to the center of the room and turns around herself, lifting her head to the light in the room. An ornate chandelier is still above her, it’s the same gold as the handle that let her in. Her eyes travel to the walls that contain swirls of gold as well, everything was encrusted in gold and splotchy vintage mirrors. It was beautiful and she saw herself in the reflection of one of those splotchy vintage mirrors and actually felt beautiful in that moment.
No one else saw her but herself and she thought she was beautiful, a fleeting thought as she watched her body move. No one to watch as her reflection swayed with her. Her lavender dress swished back and forth, the end of it brushing around her ankles. The tulle fabric climbed her torso, cinching at her waist and draping over her breasts. The sleeves fluttered over her shoulders and ended midway down her upper arm. The somewhat sheer material made her tan skin look all the more carmely in the golden light of the chandelier. Her pendant necklace was silver and glinted in the light as it sat evenly over her exposed clavicle and decolletage.
In the corner opposite of the door there was a single table with three chairs. It seemed whoever was meant to put things away had grown tired and left these out. She wasn’t complaining as she crossed the floor to take a seat. It was the perfect escape. It was quiet and not too cold in the room, which was especially nice since she had left her jacket in the coat room. What wasn’t so nice is that her phone had died and she had nothing to do in the room. It wasn’t horrible though, she had wanted to be alone with her thoughts. She just feared what would happen if she sat alone too long with no escape of the internet to drown those thoughts.
That contemplation was squashed with an unwitting solution not ten minutes later. She had been sitting at the table, sipping her drink occasionally and staring at the chandelier. Sighing with content that it was finally silent beside the clink of her melting ice cubes. The house mixed drink was strong, but with each passing second it grew more and more diluted. She considered herself completely sober.
She only questioned that when she noticed a second person in the room. She hadn’t heard them open the door, but she heard their loud footsteps shortly after.
He all but stumbled in and was entranced by the chandelier like she had been. He walks to the center in a similar fashion and twists around, only this time his balance isn’t as good as hers. He ends up on his ass, legs splayed in front of him and hands behind him only cushioning his fall a little. He lets out a huff, “Fuck.” He runs a hand over his face before bringing it down to look around the room again. His eyes are foggy with alcohol, everything hazy and slightly blurry. It feels like he’s moving with superspeed but as she watches him with a tilted head she wonders why he’s moving so slowly.
He squints while looking around after a moment, running a hand through his thoroughly tousled hair. His tongue comes to wet his lips, but this time it's for a touch too long like he’s genuinely tasting the liquor on them. She raises her brows, observing him, her presence seemingly unknown.
“Oi, you!” He slurs the words and points lazily at her reclined in her chair. “Are you real?”
She half smiles and replies with a simple ‘yes’.
“I like your dress,” he says merely like he was stating a fact rather than giving a compliment. His hair falling into his eyes again despite him just pushing it back.
“Thanks.”
He makes his way to standing, his process rather ungraceful. He twists onto his hands and knees and begins to push himself up. He slips once before making it to full standing, he sways slightly and looks around again like he’s forgotten why he stood up. His eyes land on her again and he decides to make his way over to the table.
“You should probably sit,” she says, watching him splay his arms around him to keep his balance. She had seen him an hour and a half ago and he seemed fine, but now he seemed absolutely and utterly pissed.
“Thanks, mum,” he says as he thunks into the seat beside her, his hand waving off her suggestion.
Her brows raise at the slightly rude comment, but she leans back in her seat still observing him.
“Why do you hate weddings?” She asks once he’s settled and has his head propped up with one of his hands. She takes a sip of her drink as she watches him scan her face again, trying to see if he recognizes her.
His mind must come up empty, a vague memory of the bar slipping away without a second thought.
“It was a joke,” he shrugs.
“No it wasn’t,” she replies easily.
His eyes narrow and he leans forward a little shakily, “Who are you?”
“Aurora.” She licks at her own lips, a stray bit of liquid lingering on her lips.
“That’s a Disney princess name,” he says, unconvinced, how most drunk people were when you told them the truth.
“And my great-grandmother’s and mine,” she responds, a grin playing on her lips as she watches him think it over. “It’s wild how multiple people can have the same name. Did you know people can share a last name as well?”
He leans back in his chair now, unhappy with her snarky response.
“Isn’t that why we’re here, two people joining together and sharing the same last name now?” He threads his fingers as he speaks, mimicking something coming together.
“Yep,” She perks at the question he poses. “You still didn’t answer my question.” Her brows raise once playfully.
“What?” Harry seemed to have lost the plot, his fuzzy drunken brain choosing to forget the first thing she asked him while in this private ballroom of theirs.
“Why do you hate weddings?” She repeats, louder and with emphasis, the words echoing this time.
“Oh,” he looks up to the ceiling and blows air past his lips harshly, “S’ a long story.”
“We got all night,” she offers, and raises her glass to her lips once again.
“A night wouldn’t even cover half of it,” he ponders seriously, his mind reeling. “I’d rather talk about you.”
“Why me?”  She laughs like she’s just received the most delightful surprise.
“Because,” He starts and then sits quiet for a moment before leaning forward, elbows on the table as he peers at her, “I think I’m in love with you.”
“You only just met me,” she responds. “Not to mention, you’re drunk as fuck, Best Man. Just minutes ago I watched you stumble in here and truly fall on your ass.”
“Then tell me about yourself and I’ll explain my hatred for weddings.”
“You’re awfully good at bargaining for being this inebriated.”
“I never lose my charm, no matter how pissed I may be,” he smirks and gives a sloppy wink, hair falling in his face yet again.
She scoffs, but she is rather amused and intrigued by the man beside her. His tie now completely loosened, hair falling every which way, and his green eyes set on her. The shiny shoes he wore slipped around on the ground as he shuffled his feet below him like a child wanting to go play. She figured it was just his drunk brain trying to amuse himself or something. How could she deny a man who had just drunkenly confessed his love for her at a wedding? Even if it was completely and totally untrue. She at least had to entertain the foolish notion that maybe he actually was interested in getting to know her. If anything, it would help pass the time until she could go home.
“I’ll bite,” she relents.
The smirk doesn’t leave his face, it only widens, “Only if I can, too.”
“I wasn’t saying-”
“Shush, sh-sh-shush. I know that,” he holds a hand up at her, trying to get her to be quiet. He sways again, even in his seat he looks as if he could fall over at any moment. She wondered if he might not remember this tomorrow. “I was bein’...” he licks his lips in a pause, “suggestive.”
She laughs again, knowing his sober brain probably would have chosen a more articulate and suave word since ‘suggestive’ was rather tactless and more straight to the point. If she learned anything from all the conversations she overhead about him, Harry was definitely one for tact.
“You were something, that’s for sure,” she wraps a hand around Harry’s wrist, she draws the hand down from its hovering state and lays it against the table again. She withdraws her own hand back to her glass, her drink almost completely gone now.
He smiles, pleased with himself, but unaware that his charms had worn off with his exorbitant amount of alcohol consumed. At least on this girl they weren’t working. She had never been attracted to people who were too drunk to help themselves and she always hoped that’s how others felt too. She was thankful he had stumbled in on her rather than someone who didn’t feel the same way. It made her sick to think of what someone with evil intentions might do if they came across a babbling drunken version of Harry. Pushing those thoughts away since that wasn’t the case, she decided to pat his hand once just in reassurance to herself and him that this was really happening.
“I’m twenty-five.” She states.
Harry nods, a small smile on his lips now rather than a smirk as he watches her again. He liked how smoothly she moved rather than the rest of the world in his drunken eyes, everything else was choppy and fast. She was elegant and fluid, calming even.
“I love love,” Harry says, eyes remaining on hers, no trace of a joke in his tone, “And it hates me.”
“That can’t be true,” she squints at him, a frown gracing her face for a moment at the sadness she sees in his watery eyes. Not crying watery, just watery from his drunken state.
He says nothing, waiting for her to offer more information about herself before he says anything else. This was the deal after all. She quickly realizes why he isn’t responding and sighs, conversation with drunks was tedious already, but Harry seemed determined to make it even harder.
“I’m from California.”
“They always are,” Harry mutters to himself. He ignores her hum of a question, asking what he just said with a simple sound. “All my friends, they’re either getting married or they’re already married and got kids on the way or whatever. They all found love and I’m just here with fuck all.”
She sincerely doubts what the drunken man is telling her right now, but she knows how to play the game now to get more information. “I hate my job,” she states.
“Sometimes I feel like I'm cursed, like I fucked up one too many times and now I’m doomed to never find love.”
Her eyes widen at this, he sounds so damn sad and she wishes she could take his pain away. She knew what a good guy and she couldn’t imagine why he would deserve to feel this way. No one deserved to feel like they weren’t worthy of love. His sad state truly almost brought her to tears. She’s there in a stunned silence and Harry is confused why she hasn’t said anything more about herself. It was her turn.
“What’s something else about you?” He asks, his hand fiddling with itself on the table. She notices once again that there aren’t as many rings on his fingers as what she thought was usual.
She licks her lips and reaches her hand forward. She grasps Harry’s fiddling hand and stops his movement. “I feel sorry that you feel this way, no one deserves the kind of pain you’re inflicting on yourself. I’m very very sorry for you, Harry.”
“That’s not really…” He trails off, losing his focus on her face and instead looking at their hands touching. The feeling is so intense in his buzzing body. Her touch was so calming compared to the electric feeling in his body. It felt nice.
“Can I ask you a different question and then I’ll tell you something no one knows about me?”
He nods eagerly.
“And you can’t dodge the question, you really have to answer it, okay?”
“Okay.”
“What did you say at the end of your speech? It got drowned out by applause, but I saw you say something.”
“You noticed?” He asks kind of surprised, then scratches at his eyebrow. He sees her slight glare and knows to get to his answer. “Asked when it’d be my turn…like to fall in love, y’know.”
She sighs, saddened yet again by his words. “Okay, well, here’s my secret... I hate weddings, too.”
Harry’s eyes light up, maybe he really was in love. She purses her lips and pulls back from him.
“I think you’re my soulmate,” he breathes out, again making a false confession. His drunken brain wants it to be true. He’s desperate for his search to be over, for her to be his person.
She smiles that same sad smile that she keeps getting when he says these sad things to her.
“I assure you, I am not, Best Man.”
He looks at her confusedly. She was beautiful, she was clarity to him. Her brown hair was straight with a little wave in it, like it was straightened for the occasion but never truly that way otherwise. It flowed around her head and shoulders, but she had it tucked behind both ears. She wasn’t trying to impress anyone, she just simply was beautiful. Her sun tanned skin looked soft under the golden glow and Harry was sure she was an angel or something.
“Why not?” He insists, leaning forward.
She stands up from her seat. He follows clumsily behind her, standing as well. He was still taller than her even in her high heels. He smiled like a lovesick child down at her, his eyes as big as the moon. She bites at her lip as she sees him look at her so lovingly, so misguidedly. Then she leans up towards his face, up on her tiptoes and past his lips. Her hands hold him straight with them curled in his suit’s lapels. She presses a sweet and gentle kiss to his cheek, closer to his jaw than anything.
“Good night, Harry,” she whispers against his skin before pulling away.
His eyes flutter open, his looks at her confusedly, slightly unaware that he had closed his eyes at all.
“Good night…” He had already forgotten her name, something with an A...or was it an O? He’d have to ask Sarah and Mitch about the girl who had talked to him in the empty golden ballroom, the girl he had fallen in love with. He was certain. She was the one - if only he could find out her name. If he remembered this at all or if he just thought it was a dream.
She leaves the room before him and as she leaves she wonders if she maybe should have made sure he was alright, but she figured their talk was sobering enough. The night was ending and she had a sneaking suspicion that there were plenty of people here tonight looking out for him.
-
Harry forgot about the girl in the ballroom. Or at least he wasn’t sure if it was a dream or reality. He had woken up at Tom’s place where he had said he would stay after the wedding reception so he hadn’t gone home with a girl. He couldn’t remember her name so he couldn’t really ask anyone about her and he didn’t exactly have a lot of people he could ask. He wanted to ask Sarah and Mitch, but they were already off on their honeymoon and he was one of those people who would never bother a couple on their honeymoon. He was too embarrassed to ask Renee and anyone else for that matter.
So, instead, he forgot. Harry forgot about her for three weeks until Sarah and Mitch returned. He had called them for a hike and lunch the moment their plane had landed. He had missed some of his best friends. It was a lull in the year, where he wasn’t touring or in the studio, just living and writing when he felt like it. So maybe he was in need of some inspiration.
“Ah! The Jones’!” He exclaims as he walks up to their parked car at the head of the trail.
Sarah laughs and Mitch rolls his eyes, half-heartedly since he’s just as happy to see Harry as Harry is to see him.
“I missed you,” Mitch says as he brings Harry in for a hug.
“Don’t let the missus hear that,” Harry tuts while he sends a wink over Mitch’s shoulder to Sarah.
“It’s all he could talk about for the past few weeks,” Sarah jokes as she goes in for a hug with Harry. “How do you think Harry is? Hope he’s eating? I miss Harry.” She mimics Mitch’s voice.
Mitch shakes his head shyly, a smile spreading on his face after a moment. “That. Is not true at all,” he assures Harry, “But you do look a little thinner. What have you been eating?”
Harry elbows him with a grin, “I’m fine. Been bored so I’ve just been filling the time with working out.”
They start their ascent up the hill and into the canyon. Mitch nods, his worry for his friend subsiding momentarily before he says something strange.
“I’ve been wanting to ask, but you’ve been gone, about a girl at the wedding.”
“Oh?” Sarah gives Mitch a knowing look.
“Yeah, well the thing is, I’m not sure if she was real or not. I think she was real, but I was so drunk, there’s so many bits missing in my memory.”
Sarah and Mitch both laugh. “You were very drunk, H,” Mitch confirms.
Harry ignores him, “I even asked her if she was real and she said yes, but y’know people can lie in dreams. All I remember is she was amazing and she had a princess name, I think.”
Sarah thinks about the guest list. “No princess names that I can think of. What did she look like?”
Harry squints ahead of them, his sunglasses pushing his curls back on the top of his head. “She had straight brown hair, not long or short. She said she was, uh, twenty-five. She was in lavender, I think.”
“You think a lot,” Mitch interjects which earns him a glare from Harry.
Harry thinks about this part that he remembered vividly, how she had been so confident that he wasn’t. He adds, “...And I told her I was in love with her.”
“Oh god, Harry,” Sarah sighs.
Mitch gives Harry an apologetic smile.
“She didn’t buy it, but she didn’t run off either. We talked for awhile.”
“Maybe it was a dream,” Sarah says.
“Okay, let’s see,” Mitch grows to be the leader of the investigation, wanting everything for his best friend to find the love he knew he deserved. “Twenty-five year old brunettes at our wedding who are single. C’mon there weren't that many people there.”
Sarah thinks about it again. “Renee’s sister is twenty-five. I don’t remember what she was wearing, I hardly saw her all night,” she pauses, “Which is strange since she wasn’t on the job for once.”
“What do you mean ‘on the job’?” Harry asks curiously, remembering his girl saying she hated her job.”
“She’s a wedding planner,” Sarah says, glancing at him because she was almost sure that Renee’s sister was not who Harry was talking about. “But she had referred me to someone else for the wedding, she consulted sometimes and got us a discount, but said she didn’t like working with people she knew personally.”
Harry nodded, how could Renee’s sister be his girl? How could a wedding planner hate weddings? And wouldn’t it be all the more awkward if the girl was Renee’s sister? Renee’s little sister, could it be? He had no clue.
“I don’t think it’s her, though,” Sarah gives a half-smile, “She’s not super...uh, how do I say this?”
As Sarah says “touchy-feely,” Mitch interjects.
“She’s pretty cold-hearted. She’s relatively nice, but what makes her such a good wedding planner is she doesn’t get caught up in the sentimentality of it, she just understands other people’s emotions and knows how to make them feel amazing.”
“That’s a little harsh,” Sarah looks at Mitch with a strong glare. After all, he was talking about her best friend’s little sister.
“Well, what’s her name?” Harry insists, semi-off put, but knowing her secret made him think it was possible for Renee’s sister and his ballroom girl to be the very same.
“Rori Williams, think it’s short for something else, but I don’t know, as long as I’ve known her she goes by Rori.” Sarah gives Harry a sad smile and it reminds him of his mystery girl.
“Do you think I could meet her or something? I just want to know if it’s her.” Harry says as they reach the first peak on their hike. He looks out at the view from there, Los Angeles was green for once, but he knew it would quickly fade to brown and tan as the spring plants died off again from the summer heat.
“Pretty sure she’s off working on some destination wedding right now. She doesn’t like being bothered when she’s working,” Sarah gives Harry a look for two reasons as she says that. One, because she knows his next question would be to contact her anyway. And two, she’s saying how he is exactly the same, hates being contacted when he’s busy with work. “I can text Renee to see what’s up.”
Harry nods, “Please…” He begins to imagine Rori as his ballroom girl and mutters to himself, “A June Wedding…” getting lost in a silly little daydream.
-
“Harry Styles is asking after you,” Renee snickers over the cellphone line.
“What is this? The 1800s?” Rori sighs, as she holds the phone to her ear with her shoulder. She tries to brush her hair from her face with a flick of her head, which makes for a rather silly sight as her head and shoulder move awkwardly. “People don’t ‘ask after’ anyone anymore.”
She was in Hawaii, Maui specifically, steaming a sneaky last crinkle out of the latest bride’s wedding veil.
“Well, he still is doing it. You know how he is.”
“I actually don’t,” Rori responds, easily, ignoring the memories of her two encounters with him. “What does he want?”
“Wants to meet you or something,” Renee says easily. “Thinks he met you at Sarah’s wedding, obviously impossible since I know you scampered off half way through the reception and he was falling down drunk at the half way marker as well…” she trails off.
Rori knows her sister well and expects the next thing to come out of Renee’s mouth.
“Oh my god! Did you hook up with him?!”
Expecting this, Rori responds quickly and calmly, “No, we did not hook up, I would never... I did watch him fall on his ass, though.”
“So it was you!”
“What was me?” Rori squints her eyes at her sister over the phone and finally straightens from her steaming task. She feels like she’s only half paying attention to the conversation, especially since she had no intention of meeting up with Harry. He had been so sweet and sad, and she truly wished him the best, but she knew she wasn’t the answer to his problem.
“You!” Renee all but yells into the phone, “Are his dream girl! He’s been wondering if you were even real for weeks.”
“I’m real,” Rori sighs and crosses the room she’s in to sit at the desk she was using as a work space. She flicks through the planner she was using for the Hearst wedding, set to take place tomorrow. “But I’m certainly not his dream girl...I told him that when he said he was in love with me.”
“He what?!” Renee exclaims and hears her sister sigh once again, she knows Rori is growing tired of the conversation and is ready to offer an excuse to hang up any moment now. “Nevermind that, I’m going to tell Sarah to give him your number and the date you get back to Los Angeles. Keep next weekend clear.”
Before Rori can open her strawberry pink lips to reply, Renee is squealing a goodbye and hanging up. She felt her shoulders sag with the empty line, she reclined into the nicely plush swivel chair. This is why she stayed out of love and relationships when they didn’t relate to work, they were exhausting. Too much ‘he said, she said’ going on at all times. Color palettes, seating arrangements and menus were simple, they made sense, they could be arranged and put into place. Relationships were messy, the actual event of a wedding could even be messy, but when she planned them out, for a single moment everything was orderly and simple. She was in control. She knew she couldn’t be Harry’s dream girl because she knew she couldn’t control that situation.
-
Upon arriving back in the continental United States, at the end of June, Rori ubered immediately to her apartment in Silverlake. Well, it was a converted garage behind a house of a friend of Renee’s. Like most apartments in Los Angeles, it was funky, but it was Rori’s until she decided where she wanted to move. She never wanted to buy in LA and she never wanted to upgrade from the place she had called home for the past four years.
Almost immediately after dropping her pink work tote bag and worn backpack on the floor next to her medium sized navy suitcase, her phone rang through the ‘Do Not Disturb’ setting with an unknown number. A New York number. Possibly a new client, she picks up quickly and shuts the window-paned door behind her. The days were long, the longest day of the year had almost arrived, yet the sun was still beginning to set in the sky and turn the light blue into a painting of oranges pinks and purples.
“Hello?”
“Is Rori Williams there?” A British voice asks, almost timidly.
“Who’s asking?”
“...Harry.”
“I was told you’d be calling or something along those lines,” she smiles to herself.
Harry sat in his room, chewing at his lip, still unsure if the voice on the other side of the phone call was the woman he had talked to previously.
“Can we go for a drink sometime? How’s tomorrow?”
“Someone is quite enthusiastic.”
“It’s just...I’m trying to figure something out.”
“So I’ve heard,” she chuckles slightly.
“So you won’t tell me whether you’re the girl I talked to at Sarah and Mitch’s wedding will you?”
“What would be the fun in that?”
“So it’s a right Cinderella, if the shoe fits situation,” he mumbles, slightly to himself, but she hears him clearly.
She laughs.
“I don’t really care for Cinderella, I’m not really one for Disney princesses at all, actually.”
His breath catches, a foggy memory of something having to do with princesses tries to break into his mind. He couldn’t remember still and he vowed time and time again that he would never get that drunk again. Too much time lost.
“Alright, Harry. I’ve just gotten home from a work trip so I’m planning on a bath, some wine, and some terribly raunchy TV to get my mind off of my life. How about you pick a time and a place for drinks and hopefully I will show up? Great! Goodnight.”
She doesn’t wait for a response, just clicks the red button that hangs up the phone and goes on with her professed plans. Harry sits in stunned silence for a few moments, whatever he had gotten himself into was going to be a ride of a lifetime.
-
At a quarter past six, Harry sits anxiously at the bar top of a semi casual, semi fancy, totally cool bar he loved. It was private so he wouldn’t be bombarded with people, but it was still lively enough that it wouldn’t be dead silent if conversation lulled between him and Rori. That is, if she showed up.
His foot begins to tap, ever so persistently against the silver footrest at the bottom of the bar. His eyes shift from right to left, not wanting to order a drink before she arrives, but also not wanting to wait much longer and not order a drink. He’d waived off the bartender twice already.
She walks in, right on time, Harry had just arrived early. Her lips part into a happy smile at his anxious stance at the bar, he mirrors her expression at the sight of her.
She’s wearing a billowy white button down, the sleeves cinching perfectly at her petite wrists, cinched beneath a brown corset-like tank top. Her breasts showed their true size today in this outfit. She had the collar pulled out and the corset made it so that her cleavage was perfectly sculpted just beneath the crisp white cloth. Her pants were sleek and black, understated to draw more of a focus to her top as well as the lavender jewel inlaid pendant hanging just above the swells of her breast. Harry’s eyes dipped to that level for a moment, but quickly recovered to focus on her face. The night of the wedding had been blurry, but he was sure Rori’s face was the one of his mystery girl.
He’s shy tonight and a little more reserved than last time. He’s out of his comfortable bubble, what could anyone expect from a man so constantly watched. He fidgets with the top most button of his shirt that was buttoned and thinks about unbuttoning it to reveal a little more of his chest, but he refrains. At a friend’s wedding he feels safe, but in public he’s always watching, always aware of the possible prying eye. But like he had said drunkenly to Rori, he always maintained his charm, no matter the circumstances.
“Lavender was gorgeous on you, but this…” he gives a graceful sweep of his hand to gesture at her outfit tonight, “is extremely enchanting.”
“So you remember me in lavender? I thought you couldn’t remember me at all.” She grins as she stands directly beside him, similar to the first time they had chatted at a bartop.
Harry clears his throat at her tease, “I knew once I laid eyes on you, I would know. So now I know.”
She smirks at his reasoning and orders a vodka cranberry, both not wanting to get off her ass or look any certain way. Vodka cranberries were acceptable mature drinks, but not overly pretentious in any way. Harry tells the bartender to make it two. She looks at him with a discerning eye.
“Do you remember the first time we met?” She asks as she slides into the bar seat that seems to be trying to look vintage but was likely made no less than five years ago.
Harry sits too, more easily since his legs are longer than hers. “We met in the ballroom for the first time, did we not?”
“No...we met at the bar in the reception room.” Her hand splays to feel the stone of this counter, cold unlike the wood of the previous one. “We were about this close after you’d rudely stepped ahead of me and ordered before I could...not that you noticed. I asked if you were having a rough night and you pretty much dismissed me.” She bites her lip as she tells him the story, her eyes widen as she watches the distress roll over his features at what she says.
“Oh god,” One of his hands reaches to grab her hand to emphasize his apology, “I’m so sorry, that’s so rude. I was having quite a rough night as you would eventually see.”
He stares at her face, trying to meet her eyes, but she’s glued to the sight of their hands intertwined. He was so smooth and it was making her melt, making the walls she had purposefully put up for this date weak. She had rules, especially for guys like Harry - not that there was anyone that compared to him in her life, but she had them and she knew she couldn’t just be swept off her feet by his sweet voice and gorgeous face that has the most puppy-dog look on it.
She knows she shouldn’t but the extra ice she had added to her personality melts away, her eyes going slightly moony as she watches him visibly relax again. “No worries, I enjoyed your company upon the second meeting, even if you didn’t even remember my name after it.”
“Well,” he finally catches her eye, “That’s where I have a bit of a bone to pick.”
“Oh?”
“You didn’t tell me your real name...gave me some fake name I can’t even remember, but it certainly wasn’t…” His eyes shift to her pendant again and he looks back at her brassy eyes in the bar’s lighting. “If your name is Rori Williams, why is your pendant an ‘A’?” He says slowly, another foggy memory trying to break the surface of his knowledge but still failing.
She finally feels in control of the situation, calm and assured of herself, which was maybe unfair since it seemed Harry really had a hard time remembering that night and she could really fuck with him if she wanted to, but she wouldn’t - couldn’t - with those earnest eyes looking at her.
“I told you my real name the first time we talked, Harry. It’s Aurora,” she retracts her hand from beneath his grasp and touches at the necklace, “I go by Rori both socially and professionally, but officially it’s Aurora and this had been my great-grandmother’s. I don’t go anywhere without it.”
“Almost as beautiful as its wearer,” he smirks, his gaze stuck on her face, attempting to convey something specific. She thinks she knows what he’s saying with his look.
“You’re quite the flirt,” she rolls her eyes playfully before specifically choosing to take a sip of her drink through the little straw the bartender had put in it. It draws Harry’s attention to her lips, and after a moment they were wet with a bit of excess vodka cranberry and Harry felt himself grow a little hot at the tips of his ears when her eyes meet with his. She had caught him staring, but he recovers easily.
“I remember telling you I never lose my charm, it’s true is it not?” Harry inquires, head leaning closer to her as he takes a sip of his own drink, making a show to lick his lips after removing them from the edge of the lowball glass.
Her laughter is loud but not overbearing, Harry thinks it’s the best laugh he’s ever heard even if she’s laughing at him. She’s true in that laugh, she’s not trying to make him fall for her with that laugh, it’s just her enjoying herself.
She responds with something sweet and the two begin the back and forth of a successful date. They both drink around three drinks as the night persists, but it’s enough for her to feel the burning pull inside the pit of her belly for Harry. His hands stay relatively to himself besides a few subtle touches at her hair and hands every so often, his feet are the ones to blame. At one point in the night, he hooks his loafer covered foot around her ankle and she is quick to lean into it, reciprocating the footsie with ease. Each brush of his leg against hers is electrifying, every nerve in her body was beginning to go crazy. She was buzzing in a way that she hadn’t when she had first encountered Harry. Tonight he was more suave, but with a tinge of timidness that made him irresistible.
Harry made sure he wouldn’t get drunk tonight, ordering only as much as Rori. He didn’t want to be the fool who couldn’t remember their time together, again. Plus, he didn’t want to forget any of their time together, he wanted to remember it all. Everything about her was amazing, the feeling he had about her, the nagging desire to meet her was for a reason, he was sure of it. If her voice was a melody, then she was the most beautiful love song he had ever heard.
At 11:30, he leans in close to Rori, his nose brushing at the hair tucked at her ear and asks her if she wants to leave. She looks at him confused, the warm feeling in her stomach falls because she thinks he wants to end the night.
“Oh,” she says dejected, she swore it was going well. “Right..That’s it.”
Harry’s brows crinkle at her sad face.
“No, love, I was saying,” he raises his brows, “Y’know.”
“Oh! Right! You just sounded so...I don’t know, serious.” She sinks in her seat, realizing her presumptions had been wrong.
“I was trying to be,” he twists his lips trying to find the word, as blush rises on his cheeks. “Seductive.”
The two of them are quickly realizing they can’t pretend with each other. Rori can’t keep up the harsh facade against love with him, he sees right through it. Harry can’t play his old tricks with her, she sees right through them.
She laughs again, “Well, it just sounded like you were bored. Sometimes your moves fall really flat.” She offers a sweet wink in consolation for his failed attempt at trying to really get her weak in the knees.
They were a lovesick mess together as they clambered off their bar seats and exit the bar that had gotten increasingly loud.
“So what’s next?” She asks on the warm summer night.
He steps closer and takes the liberty of fiddling with the strap of the corset she has on. His head is tilted down as he towers over her. “You know me Rori, I’m a hopeless romantic so I desperately want to take you out for dinner sometime and slow dance with you until the sun comes up, but,” his breath fans over her face now as he shifts impossibly closer, “I also want to grip your hair as I watch you writhing underneath me. Just tell me what you’d prefer and it’s all yours.”
Her breathing has become a slight pant as his words wash over her. His nose brushes over the ridge of hers and she takes the moment to put her hands on his shoulders and pull him onto her. They were in the alleyway beside the bar, away from prying eyes except a few people too drunk to recognize Harry's face that is all but hidden in Rori.
“Harry,” she breathes, her eyes fluttering shut as she makes the decision to cross them into the point of no return. She wants this too much. She hadn’t thought this would be how her night would go, thought she would brush him off and never see him again, but god, she needed his warm body everywhere. Needed him to touch every part of her.
“Rori,” he responds.
“I want the second one first,” she whispers, feeling a little too eager, but feeling Harry press excitedly against her reassures her.
His lips press a searing kiss to her and she makes a sound of happiness at the contact. Her hands fist at the fabric of his shirt as she presses her lips feverishly back onto his. Harry’s quick to grip at the back of her neck and the small of her back, keeping her tight to him as he licks into her mouth.
“Can still taste that last vodka cran,” he notes before kissing her again.
Their tongues rub against each other, sloppily but with a tenderness hidden there as well. She snorts at his words which makes him smile and they’re kissing is becoming more silly as they try to contain their laughter. He pulls away, finally giving up trying to maintain the kiss while they both laughed.
“Would you like to come back to mine?” Harry asks as he leans his forehead against hers.
Rori’s eyes flicker open and stare into his, the focus only on his eyes and the sprinkle of light freckles and beauty marks below them. She nods her head, making his move with it. They both smile, trying to contain their laughter once more.
She presses her lips against his once more for a small peck and then lowers her head into the crook of his neck. The skin warm and smooth against hers as she whispers happily to him.
“It’s your turn now, Harry,” Rori says blissfully.
She had been the answer to all his questions.

Puppy Love
Jake Jensen x reader
Warning: fluff, cuteness overload, love at first sight, puppy Jensen, alcohol and swearing (I think, I can’t remember what all I wrote so better safe then sorry)
Author’s note: sorry I haven’t posted anything! It’s been super busy and then my adhd said we forgot about the writing I started but I got a lot of motivation and finished! I’ll try to work faster next time lol I hope you enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were moving into an… interesting neighborhood you could say. The moving truck just showed up for the second time today to help move everything from your parents house. You had been living with them throughout your college and now that you’ve graduated, you decided to find a job and get your first house.
As you were struggling to lift a box, a man came up behind you. “Let me help you, it looks heavy.” He said with a chuckle grabbing the box before it fell. “My names Clay. You moving in today?” He asked while I grabbed another box and led him inside. “I’m y/n and yeah, I just graduated college and needed out of my parents. You don’t have to help, I can get all this. It’ll probably take awhile.” I said feeling about taking up his day.
After a little bit of playful arguing, Clay insisted that he had nothing to do and was happy to help me move. The day went by pretty quick and I was grateful for Clay’s help because it would’ve taken way longer without him.
“Hey, I’m having a get together tomorrow evening. It’d be a great way for you to meet some people if you’d like to come?” Clay suggested with a smile. “Oh I wouldn’t want to intrude on you and your friends. They’ll probably think it’s weird inviting someone you just met as well.” I smiled sheepishly.
“Nonsense, it’s not even close to the weirdest thing I’ve done. Plus there’ll be great food and we love having new people over.” Clay said hopeful. I smile back and agreed to go. He told me that he live two houses down (the blue shitty one, he called it) and to just come over around 6.
After he left, I unpacked a few thing and made dinner. It was pretty late so I went to bed and woke up around 8 the next morning. I went on my usual run and then ate breakfast. I watched tv until 5:30 and then got ready for to go to Clay’s. I showed up at 6:02 and knocked on his door after sitting there for 5 minutes debating if I should just go home.
Clay answered the door and smiled. He said everyone was out back and that I could just go on back and he’d be out in a minute. I walked through the house to the back door. There weren’t a lot of people, maybe 4-5, I didn’t really count and hung out by the door until Clay came out.
“Hey everyone, this is my new neighbor, y/n. Y/n, this is Aisha, Pooch, Jolene, Cougar, and that is Jensen.” Everyone waved and smiled at me except Jensen, who stood there staring and not moving, even his mouth was a little open. Clay clapped him on the shoulder, “what’s the matter Jensen? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Jensen sputtered but eventually gained control of himself. He clear his throat and smiled. “Nothing. Hi, I’m Jake.” He took my hand and kissed the back of it.
I looked down and blushed hard. I looked back up and he was staring at me with his charming smile. Clay scoffed with a smile on his face. “I’m gonna go check on the grill. Jensen, try not to drool too much.” He chuckled and walked away. Jensen made a face at him before turning back to me.
“So…. Do you have any hobbies?” He asked before looking down and muttering to himself. I chuckled and smile. “Um… I like to do a lot of things. I’m pretty active and like doing things too.” I smiled up at him since he was much taller (and bigger😍) than me. His face broke out into a smile and he giggled (his fucking giggle). “Oh yeah. Im always trying new things.” He went on to rant about the new things he’s been doing.
Soon the food was done and Jensen fixed me a plate like a true gentleman. We ended up talking about anything and everything for the rest of the night until everyone started turning in. First Pooch and his wife, then Cougar, then Aisha until it was just me, Jensen and Clay. “Well. I’m gonna head in guys, it’s getting pretty late. Try not to get arrested for nudity in my backyard.” He smirked at us. I blushed and looked down while Jensen awkwardly chuckled, also turning bright red. We were all sitting around a fire pit and me and Jensen were sitting close enough that I was almost in his lap.
Clay went inside and it was just me and Jensen left. “So you probably got a boyfriend waiting for you at home.” He sighed sadly. “No I don’t but you’re girlfriend would probably be mad that your here with me alone.” I gave him a light smile. He didn’t say anything and kept staring at me. “What? Do I have something on my face?” I asked, wiping my face. He shook his head, “No girlfriend and no, no you’re perfect. I mean not perfect but you don- I mean you are perfect.. but not in a creepy way! I just- how do you not have a boyfriend? I mean, you’re just so pretty and nice and … I’m rambling. That happens when I get nervous, especially around pretty girls. This is probably one of the longest conversations I’ve had with one and I don’t know why you’re still talking to m-“ I cut him off with a peck.
He looked stunned for a second before lightly touching his lips where I had just kissed. He looked at me, stunned and not saying a word. I started to get worried that I had overstepped and opened my mouth to apologize but then he surprised me. He leaned back it to kiss me, deeper than the last. We kissed for a good couple of second before pulling away.
It took me a second to register everything and open my eyes but when I did, I saw his beautiful face smiling at me. He looked like a puppy in love. I giggled at him and grabbed his hand.
“That was the first kiss I’ve had in a long time.” I said smiling up at him. “Me too and I wouldn’t be upset if it happened again.” He replied with the biggest smile on his face. I chuckled with him and leaned our four head together.
“You should take me on a date first, big boy.” I smirked at him. His face drained a little and I got worried I said the wrong thing. “Oh my god, of course. I completely forgot and I’m normally better than that, not that I get a lot of attention from women and talk to them much, but in generally I like to think I’m pretty smooth and good at remembering stuff like that an-“
I cut him off by grabbing both his hands and turning him to face me. I smile at him and say, “it’s ok haha. It’s not a big deal Jake. I’d love to go on a date with you and get to know you better if you’d want that too. And I think you’re quite charming, have to watch out for other ladies if this goes somewhere, which I hope it does.”
He smiles and agrees, “If we do get farther, which I can see happening because I actually am really starting to like you, I’m gonna be the one to have to watch out for other girls and boys. Wouldn’t want anyone, male or female, stealing my girl.” He softly kisses me. I smiled and pulled away.
“Oh so I’m already you’re girl now?” I smirked at him. He laughed and shook his head. “Not yet. I’d like to make a better memory while asking you to be my girl but I can make plans for the future.” We see the light in the back room turn on in the house out of the corner of our eyes. “Get your asses out of my yard and get a room!” We hear Clay yell with a chuckle.
I look at Jake and I’m a silent conversation, we decide that it’s probably time to head out. He holds my hand and walked me to my house. Once we reached the door, I turned towards him. “So when’s the date?” He chuckled and leaned in to kiss me.
“I’ll have to check my calendar. If you give me your number, I’ll text you when and where.” He smirked at me. I giggled and we exchanged phones. I bit my lip and looked up at him. He smiled back at me and brought my hand up to kiss the back of it.
“I had a really good time tonight. I wasn’t planning on going but I’m glad I did.” He said. I smiled and looked down to hide my blush. “ I had a great time too. I can’t wait to go out with you and get to know you better. I’m not really busy with much right now so text me anytime.” I said looking at his face, trying not to get distracted by his beauty.
He kissed me one more time before retreating back towards Clay’s house to get his car. I waited on my porch until he got in his car. He got in, he looked back over at me and waved before getting in and driving off. I went inside my house and leaned back against the door, sighing. I smiled to myself knowing that I found a pretty decent guy and hoping that it all goes well.
~~~~~~~~~~~At Clay’s house~~~~~~~~~
Clay held a glass of whiskey while he watched the encounter out his window. He smiled to himself, seeing how good this could be for Jensen and Y/n. He took pride in introducing them and already had plans to take all the credit at their wedding. He chuckled to himself, “Those punks are gonna be the death of me. Gonna be lookin’ like a damn puppy in love. Golden retriever ass.” He smiled, happy for his friend and new neighbor before heading to bed himself.
