"I made you something in light of the holiday and our recent success with your experiment." He sets down two dishes before sitting at his desk once more, trying and failing not to look excited about the prospect of having a meal together with her. "It seemed fitting, since we made a good amount of progress. I hope the food will be to your liking - and happy Valentine's Day."

The dish itself was a simple, scallop-shaped bowl, but what it contained was carefully cut and double fried pieces of crispy, savory karaage chicken on a bed of finely shredded cabbage. All the perfect size for a fairy like herself to comfortably eat without too much trouble - a process that had taken a little bit of time to master, if he were to be completely honest.

She had been sitting cross legged on his desk, papers surrounding her and pencil among pencil as she jots down notes before forgetting where she places one and goes for another. Of course, she plans to fully clean up her mess before she leaves Azul’s company. After all, he had been kind enough to share his space with her!

And to be honest. . .she had been so deep in thought and into her plans she hadn’t even noticed his absence. The letters from her friends offered great insight. The only thing she would need to really hyper focus on would be the cultivation and then the usage of dust on their little project.

Among all her papers, she’s got three neat piles. One for ideas she’s scrapping, one for possibilities, and ones for definite attempts. She’s ensuring she has an organized enough system for Azul to comb through when he needs to go through it. Naira will have to ensure she remembers to enlarge everything for him to read as well. It would do no good for the sorting and notes if he couldn’t read as well! Or if that didn’t work, just copying them over to a larger source.

Still, it’s when he gets back and actually speaks that it pulls the little fairy out of her trance and she looks up at him. If she’s honest, Naira still forgets about the holiday regularly. Clumsies do still celebrate the funniest things. Maybe she should write the holidays down and what’s expected on them.

‘Happy Valentine’s Day to you too, Azul!’

It’s said back, but of course he hears naught but chimes. The smile on her face is her best indicator that she’s been enjoying her time with him. And enjoying the fact he’s helping her with her project.

Taking the dish, she looks at it curiously. She recognizes the cabbage for sure. The stuff on top. . .that was meat! She recognizes the smell of it. Although,this meat is different kind of. When she bites into a piece of it, she can see it’s chicken. Very crunchy, but also very tasty! Continuing to eat, (after one bite she realized how hungry she was), she looked to Azul once more before nodding happily in agreement.

The gifts for 2024 are 100 ml fragrance sprays. These are not perfumes, they are more like room sprays. According to Yana, they worked with professional perfumers and the fragrances were formulated with each character's "image" in mind! These each come with a unique bottle label, plus a ribbon and a little wooden charm with a matching character motif on it. You can soak the wooden charm with the fragrance and use it to diffuse the smell through a room.

Preorders are open until 10 March 2024.

(Warning: in the case that these contain alcohol, it will not be possible to send the fragrances overseas due to shipping regulations against flammable materials. The paper goods—the 2024 Valentine Gift messages—will still be able to be sent out.)

Each character has their own unique scent. The following are summaries of what each spray smells like overall (according to official posts), but each also has its own more detailed descriptions of the top, middle, and base notes on their individual website postings.

Trey - powdery mint (spearmint of course the guy obsessed with dental hygiene smells like MINT, white flowers, powdery musk and balsam)

Cater - lemon herbal (lemon, herbs like juniper, amber and cedar)

Deuce - citrus rhubarb (citrus and rhubarb, rose, warm musk)

Silver - musty green (black pepper, cedarwood, warm sandalwood and musk)

Sebek - honest aroma (rosemary, white flowers and spices, patchouli and oak moss he shares a base note with Malleus, this was 100% intentional)

Grim - innocent soap (citrus, lily of the valley, peach and musk he just hopped out of the bath)

Crowley - mysterious calm (***fatty aldehyde***, white flowers, cedarwood and amber)

***NOTE ABOUT CROWLEY’S:*** I looked this up! Apparently, fatty aldehydes smell like fresh citrus but I believe the literally translated term is “fatty aldehyde”; not sure why it was worded like this. There are many forms of aldehyde and each smells different. For example, one form smells closer to a rose. Another supposedly smells like rancid butter 💀

Dire Crowley’s Fragrance Analysis

I was completely caught my surprise when TWST dropped room fragrances for all the NRC characters as Valentine’s Day merch. Each character has their own unique fragrance, with the images of the characters used (with Yana Toboso) to craft each scent! (*ﾟ▽ﾟ*)

Of course, I immediately went to Crowley- and I was immediately fascinated by this fragrance!! \(//∇//)\ 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛I’ve been seeing some confusion in regards to “fatty aldehydes,” and don’t worry- I’ll break down this fragrance as best as I can. Thank you to @overthattwilight and @the-hetchia-universe for your messages regarding this, you two really inspired me to delve deeper into this! Also @moonlightequin1 come eat your meal 👀👀👀

Disclaimer: I do not have a background in chemistry or perfumery. Any information here was gathered through research and personal accounts from perfumery enthusiasts. If anyone has a deeper insight or anything I need to be corrected on, please let me know!

Crowley having a “mysterious calm fragrance” is backed up by the scents used in this fragrance. Ray and I immediately thought of Diaval from the live-action Maleficent, who watched over and cared for Aurora in his raven form 👀 But I will go into more detail later- let’s go through each descriptor of this in excruciating detail! I warn you now that this analysis is extremely long, to a concerning degree, for a ROOM FRAGRANCE ANDJDJDJJSDKDJ but anyway:

Fatty Aldehyde

This descriptor is rather vague, isn’t it? Many people would have to search this up to even know what it means, and even then, the search results regarding the scent of fatty aldehyde vary GREATLY, from citrus to clean to waxy. The thing about fatty aldehyde is that it’s the label for a grouping for aldehydes with a certain carbonyl molecular composition: C8 to C13. Aldehyde’s that do NOT fall underneath the fatty range are often described as more “milky” or “rancid”, but those are completely different from the fatty aldehyde group.

Unfortunately, since the room fragrances are a liquid product and may contain alcohol in them, I believe that these cannot be shipped overseas from Aniplex themselves ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡ I hope a JP fan out there can provide a descriptor for this room fragrance!! Anyway, I say this because C8 to C13 each have their own unique fragrances, and Crowley’s could fall under any of these:

C8- Powerful, Fruity and naturally occurring in citrus oils. Suggestive of oranges and waxy orange peels

C9- Warm, floral (rose and jasmine), fresh and clean.

C10- Orange rind, lemons, sweet

C11- Naturally occurring in coriander (cilantro) oil, bitter and fresh. Said to be pleasant and reminiscent of citrus and rose

C12 Lauric- Lilacs, violets, and herbs

C13- Waxy, Fresh, soapy, clean, like a grapefruit peel

There are claims that C11 is the essential “aldehyric” scent. C10, C11, and C12 is iconic when grouped together because they were famously overdosed in Chanel’s No.5 when it was developed in 1921. Aldehydes had little usage in perfumes until the 1900s, and got so popular that the interest eventually died down in the 1990s. This is probably why that when I was reading personal accounts from people regarding this scent, people said it smelled nostalgic. Something pleasantly old fashioned, vintage, and classic- all words I’ve seen various people describe it as due to its heavy usage in vintage perfumes. It’s waxy scent is also said to smell like “snuffed-out candles,” which is interesting!

Due to the influence of No.5, perfumes with fatty aldehydes are often described to have a piercing “fizziness” in your nose akin to champagne bubbles when it is first inhaled. If a perfume smells “powdery,” or has that fizzy sensation, it’s likely due to aldehydes. Crowley’s fragrance says the fatty aldehyde and the flowers “spread out,” and aldehydes are often used for this diffusive effect. The experience is apparently valued so much more than the actual scent when aldehyde is out in perfumes! It is an abstract experience and sensation.

Using No. 5 as an example, I’ve seen people absolutely adore it or completely detest it because of its overdose of aldehyde. People who dislike say it’s a old lady perfume and the aldehyde stings their nose. But those who like it say it feels vintage and classy. Although it was an extremely popular perfume a century ago, nowadays it’s met with very mixed reviews.

Just like Crowley, no? 🤣🤣🤣 Most modern perfumes with fatty aldehyde now used C9 for a lighter floral and clean scent instead of the overpowering No.5, but I feel like Crowley would have the more vintage scent to him. He is not a man who is easy to describe- and even his scent alone seems to provide a sharp sensation that some love and others hate.

And yes, if you did think that aldehyde sounds like “formaldehyde,” aka the embalming fluid used to prevent the decomposition in dead bodies, it is indeed part of the aldehyde family! I just think it’s funny that with all the death symbolism at NRC, Crowley is the only character to be specifically mentioned to have a scent related to formaldehyde (don’t worry, perfume aldehyde smells far more pleasant than that! I have had the displeasure of smelling formaldehyde and trust that it is nothing like the perfumes 🤣 Formaldehyde is not used in perfumes/fragrances for so many reasons, I just thought this was a fun fact haha 🤣)

White Flowers without Sweetness

Ough…I had a hard time for this one because of how vague this is. HOWEVER, several characters have “white flowers” listed in their fragrance profiles, but Crowley’s is the only one describes to be white flowers WITHOUT sweetness. It narrows down what this flower could possibly be a little bit! Σ੧(❛□❛✿)

But unfortunately, I am not an expert. The possibilities could be endless and I don’t feel confident despite scouring the internet for as long as I have today 🤣🤣 But I’ll headcanon it regardless!

Maybe the white flower being referenced is a lily, which is fitting for Crowley symbolically? This is NOT the lily of the valley, which is a more popular white floral in fragrances due to its clean and light scent (Grim has this scent), so it is very different from the Lily.

The lily has a soft, waxy, and sometimes spicy scent. It’s very fragrant, and I’ve read accounts from people saying that others tell them they smell like a funeral if their lily fragrance is too strong. They are warm and so fragrant that it can almost feel suffocating when there’s too much up close. It can be a controversial scent much like fatty aldehydes. Some people say it smells “off” in a way that’s difficult to describe.

Lilies are also EXTREMELY toxic and deadly to cats. One bite, lick, or the pollen and even the water of a lily can be fatal to a cat, and you should never have lilies in the proximity/in your home if you have a cat. Considering how Crowley can’t get along with cats in canon (Lucius and Grim don’t like him that much either), I feel like Crowley having a lily fragrance would be unfortunately very fitting

White lilies can be bridal flowers, but are most commonly associated with funerals and are known as “sympathy flowers.” Some hospitals even ban bringing in white lilies because of its usage as funeral flowers. White lilies symbolize purity, elegance, rebirth, mourning, and grief.

Interestingly enough, Lilia is specified to be “the sweetness of roses and white flowers.” A direct contrast?

*Note: Some characters specify lily of the valleys or ylang-ylang as a type of white flower used in their fragrance. But all these characters above, including Crowley are just listed as a vague white flower. I imagine Kalim and Jamil’s to smell like Jasmine flowers as a reference to Jasmine from Aladdin, but there’s no confirmation

Cedarwood

Despite its name, the oil for perfumery can be extracted from cedar, but most commonly from juniper and cypress trees!

Like most woody fragrances, it is reminiscent of the outdoors. It is said to have warm, rich and complex scent, with earthy and balsamic (heavy/thick sweetness, mature, and soft and soothing scent, like the sticky consistency of balsamic vinegar) tones. When paired with floral or citrus aromas, it can create a luxurious and inviting smell.

Cedarwood in perfumes are used to add a depth and complexity to the perfume. Compared to sandalwood (a very common scent amongst the characters it seems!), Cedarwood is less sweet and smoky, and more soft and “cooling.”

And again, Cedarwood is often described as nostalgic! People say it evokes the smell of like… “pencil shavings and fine cigar boxes” due to these often being made from cedar, but in a sophisticated way haha! 🤣

Cedarwood is often described as grounding and calming because it’s very commonly used in aromatherapy. It is relaxing and aids in sleep. It’s all about comfort, which fits with Crowley’s “mysterious calmness.” Apparently, the essential oils of cedar has traditional medicinal usage as well, to relieve wounds or aches. It also serves to ward off insects!

Silver is the ONLY other character to share the Cedarwood scent. Bringing back what I say about Diaval and Aurora, isn’t it interesting that Crowley and Silver share this relaxing, foresty and calm scent that even aids in sleep? Silver is the only character in Special Lessons to say that he “feels better when the Headmage is here.”

Cedar is said to symbolism strength, longevity, incorruptibility, and nobility. Lol…🧎In various cultures, the cedar has great symbolism due to the long lived nature of the cedar tree and the oils medicinal properties. It is often used for and surrounds Japanese shrines. Cedar can be connected to Christianity through the Virgin Mary and Christ. The Ancient Egyptians also used cedar oil as part of the embalming (for mummification) process, mostly to ward off insects from the bodies. Some sarcophagi were carved from cedar wood as well.

Characters who share this descriptor: Silver

*Note: Although Cater’s says “cedar,” it’s notably distinct from Silver and Crowley’s “Cedarwood.” Cedarwood tends to more directly refer to the aromatherapy aspects of it?

Amber

Let’s start by saying that amber in perfumes is not related to the fossilized tree sap! (*ﾟ▽ﾟ*) That type of amber has no scent at all, and is not related to the amber in perfumes.

Amber in perfumes is always an “accord,” aka made from a combination of scents. It’s most commonly made from a mixture of benzoin, labdanum, and vanilla. Because it’s an accord, very few ambers in perfume smell the same, as they all have their own different mixtures for amber. It can range from sweet to a little spicy and musky.

Apparently it has a comforting scent to it, warm, smooth, and sensual. It is described as one of the classic scents, and evocative of warm memories and indulgence. Apparently, when mixed with Cedarwood, it’s said to give off a “retro/vintage” timeless vibe. And when mixed with aldehyde, it’s said to have warm, elegant depth.

Amber is known as one of the “fantasy notes” in perfumery. Fantasy note sounds quite vague haha, but it essentially describes a perfume scent that does not naturally occur in nature and cannot be extracted, thus being a “fantasy.” The fossilized resin has no scent, but the perfume amber tries to achieve that warm, golden glow from actual amber. It is abstract and fictional, which is again rather fitting!

Characters who share this descriptor: Cater, Jack, Jade, Crewel

That’s all the descriptions, BUT IM NOT DONE YET! ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡ You see, when reading through every characters fragrance, you will notice that despite the characters sharing some similar fragrances, they’re listed in a different order. In perfumery, there is a concept of “notes,” specifically top, heart, and base notes. The top note is what people smell upon application. This is the scent where people decide if they like the perfume or not, because that’s they smell first. The heart note leads to the base note, and can even balance out the potential unpleasantness of the top note. The base/soul note is referred to as the “essence” of the fragrance, as it is the lasting impression that can linger for hours at the very end.

Crowley’s top note starts with this fatty aldehyde. Its fizzy, sharp “champagne” sensation is either loved or hated. It can give off a sense of classiness, but the sensory experiences surrounding it can be unwanted. To me, this feels like how Crowley’s character seems exaggerated and flamboyant. He is a character who can either drive players away or draw them in- it all depends on your initial reaction of him if you’ll take a closer look at his character.

His heart note might be the white floral without sweetness. It is plain yet warm and waxy. It’s sometimes more toned down compared to the aldehyde, but it’s still a selective scent. Perhaps here is where you sense something “off” about Crowley- he smells a bit too much like a funeral as if he’s still there in mourning. Something beyond his initial exaggeration, and how his character is leading to something deeper and perhaps foreboding. And much like the novel states, there’s an odd sense of grief/melancholy surrounding Crowley, but it is a sadness he keeps close and hidden in his heart.

The base/soul note being is Cedarwood and amber, which is again a common base note! After the sensations of the fatty aldehyde and the oddity of the lily, Crowley seems to suddenly reel it back in to something soothing and relaxing, much more evocative of nature and is inviting. For the few who stayed around to look beyond his playful and admittedly irresponsible antics, there’s this sense of calm. Crowley is much older and wiser than he makes himself out to be. He is capable of caring for others, he just shows it in very subtle ways- he even refers to the students as his fledgings. There’s this nostalgia and calm when being around him, although we currently don’t know why.

And with amber being this warm and classic, a “fantasy,” it feels like this fragrance is trying to end off in a dream-like sensation, evocative of the real amber’s golden glow. At the end of the day, we don’t really know who Crowley is yet. His fragrance is described as a “mysterious calm,” even if in canon he’s always super reactive and even bursts into tears or screams at the littlest of things. Perhaps he brought us into his world, perhaps he didn’t. Do we even know him at all, really? We don’t know, and all there’s left of the lingering fragrance of an indulgent glow.

I hope I could provide some insight to the components of Crowley’s fragrance! 😭 I hope I was right about at least one thing with what Yana and the perfumers had in mind when making this from Crowley’s image! 🤣🤣 I have no idea how it would actually smell all together lol, and I’m sad that the majority of us can’t have access to this, but hopefully this provides a better idea of his scent and how it connects to the “image” of his character? His fragrance could smell like cheap plasticy hand-sanitizer and I would be none the wiser despite spending hours on this cursed analysis NSJFJSJDNZ but allow me to imagine that he smells good! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

Also, I think it’s funny that Lilia is described to smell “historical” NAJDJDJDJD when Crowley is similarly quite old school 😭

author note: confession time! I haven't actually read any of the masquerade event and only have a vague idea of the story, so i took most of this information from the twst wiki! if Rollo seems massively out of character, that is why so pls be kind ;-; either way, i had more fun than i thought i would writing for him!! also, i know this is supposed to be fluff but there is a tad bit of angst mixed in there - crush confessions can be so awkward tho you know!!

You were nervous.

Your palms were sweaty and your throat felt dry and tight, like something was constricting it. You fretted that the box of chocolates you held tight in your hands would slip out and ruin on the ground, all of your hard work, all of your trial and error hand making these chocolates for nothing.

You had honestly thought that your Valentine’s Day would be uneventful, after all your crush went to an entirely different school. But Rollo had entirely caught you off guard when he had messaged you, saying he would be visiting NRC for a single day on business but would like to see you, if possible. That day? Valentine’s Day.

You’d scrambled to prepare a gift to him, going through batches and batches of chocolates until you had finally perfected the recipe. You’d steeled yourself, finally resolving to confess your feelings to Rollo, for better or for worse. So here you were, at a secluded spot on campus so that you two would have all the privacy you needed, for two reasons. Firstly, in case your confession ended in rejection and you could save yourself any more humiliation. And secondly, well… Most students still remembered the incident at the City of Flowers, so you thought you’d try to save him from the staring…

You jiggled your legs restlessly until you caught sight of an unmistakable purple and black cap approaching you and you shot off of the bench, instinctively hiding the small box of chocolates behind your back. You took a deep breath, trying to calm your thumping heart as Rolo made his way to you, his usual poker face fixed onto his face as he came to a stop in front of you.

“Y/N.”

“R-Rollo, hi!” You cringed as your voice cracked from your nervousness, Rollo’s poker face slipping ever so slightly as he raised an eyebrow at you, making your cheeks flame in embarrassment. You cleared your throat, desperately trying to claw back some composure. “H-how was your business? I trust it went well…?”

“Hm. It went as well as could be expected.” Rollo responded neutrally. You continued to babble on, your nervousness making it nigh impossible for you to stop as you talked about anything you could think of – his trip to NRC, the weather, his going ons at Noble Bell College.

Rollo listened to your rambling, answering with grunts or short responses where he deemed fit. You hadn’t noticed, but he was more pre-occupied with observing your behaviour. He had first met you when your college had visited the City of Flowers, and you were like salvation. A warm comfort amongst all the dreadful mages that you had accompanied to the festival. You didn’t seem phased by his cold demeanour, by his expressionless countenance, you still treated him as warmly as you treated everyone else. Before he knew it, Rollo came to realise that he had become very fond of you…

But now, your behaviour was different. Rollo narrowed his eyes imperceptibly as he watched you, a feeling of dread pooling in his stomach. Your posture was withdrawn, hands behind your back oddly making you seem distant instead of your previous warm self. Despite your chatting, you refused to look him in the eye. In fact, it seemed like you didn’t want to look at him at all, your eyes looking everywhere but at him. And finally, you looked… Nervous. Was it him who was making you feel this way?

Had they turned you against him? Did you dislike him now, your opinion of him poisoned by your NRC colleagues? The thought soured him, and before he could even register what he was doing, he was reaching in his pocket for his handkerchief to shield his face before his poker face entirely disintegrated before you. It was a mistake to come here.

“I have to go.” Rollo suddenly stated, immediately turning away without even uttering a farewell. Your eyes had immediately widened as soon as he had taken out his handkerchief. Had you done something wrong? Did something you say upset him without your realising? You felt your stomach twist as he turned away from you, striding away, almost not giving you a chance to react. Before you could second guess yourself, you chased after him, reaching out and grabbing his sleeve when you got close enough.

“W-wait!” You cried, stopping Rollo in his tracks when he felt the tugging at his sleeve, your fingertips brushing against the skin of his wrist. Although he had stopped, Rollo didn’t turn to face you, only glancing back at you over his shoulder. You felt your cheeks flame under his scrutiny but you refused to let go of his sleeve, lest he continue to leave. Feeling his gaze bore into you, it became clear that he was not going to say anything, so you had no choice but to take the lead.

“I-I know you have to leave but I-I have a gift for you…!” You cringed at how meek you sounded, but you pressed on anyway before you left all confidence entirely, “b-because of the day… I… I really like you, Rollo, but not like a friend. I-I mean, more than a friend, much more! S-so… Please accept these chocolates!” You pulled the box of chocolates out from behind your back and offered them to him, screwing your eyes shut as you silently prayed that he would accept them. You could hear your heartbeat thundering in your ears and you were sure your face were as red as a tomato. How long would you have to wait for his response? Perhaps you were standing here like a fool and he had already marched off, leaving you forsaken.

You continued to fret and doubt, until you felt a soft touch on your wrist that gently pulled you forward and the box of chocolates was taken from your grip. You nervously cracked open your eyes and looked up, feeling your breath hitch at the sight before you. Although faint, there was a smile upon Rollo’s face, and you found so much beauty in the barely there upturn of his lips. His fingers tightened around your wrist, as if he was frightened that the situation would reverse and it would be you trying to flee.

The softness that Rollo was currently feeling felt strange to him, the fondness that he felt for you making him feel warm and fluttery. His heartbeat was erratic, your sudden confession taking him completely off guard, the clumsiness of its execution simply making you appear even more adorable in his eyes. Rollo could never recall feeling like this before, a sudden fear gripping him that if he did not seize you, you might suddenly disappear. So that’s what he did when he carefully took hold of your wrist and pulled you toward him, treating you as if you were made of glass. Although his gaze still seemed a little guarded, as if he was nervous to entirely let down his walls, his eyes were unmistakably filled with affection for you. He swallowed the lump that has risen in his throat that he hadn’t even noticed had formed and took a deep breath through his nose before he finally addressed you, a thumb stroking gently along the length of your wrist as he did.

“I accept your confession, Y/N.”

Cyrus had heard a lot about Yuuta from Nestor, most of which were negative.

One of the more notable things Cyrus had heard about the anomalistic prefect of Ramshackle dormitory was that he wasn't of this world— and in his own, joking way, Cyrus could see that in the way Yuuta presented himself.

They weren't doing much while they were lounging on his bed; Both of them doing their own thing while still vaguely acknowledging the presence of the other once every 15 minutes, or so.

Yuuta sat against the headboard, legs straight and folded over the other while he focused his attention on taking notes for his next alchemy ‘reduction exam’.

Cyrus on the other hand was busy scrolling through his phone, calmly listening to his own music in the process.

After another long moment of continuous yet calming silence, Yuuta lightly tapped Cyrus’ shoulder. “Cy.”

Cyrus turned to Yuuta, cocking his head to the side at what the latter decided was a precarious angle. “What?”

“How the hell do you work around this formula?” Yuuta motioned to one of the formulas in his textbook.

Cyrus let out an “Ah”, scooting somewhat closer to give Yuuta a more thorough elaboration on how to go about that particular poison formula.

It was almost outrageous and concerning how good Cyrus was at poison-making. Then again, Yuuta's faced classmates and the occasional student from a rival academy with even stranger hobbies and talents.

Back to the point, however, Cyrus couldn't help but sneak a glance at the prefect once every hundred seconds during his elaboration.

He couldn't even scold himself for not focusing enough.

Yuuta was unironically attractive to Cyrus; His dark brown hair styled in a ponytail quite similar to his own, his seemingly 1920s-inspired way of dress— even when, at times, Yuuta wore the kind of revealing outfits he'd seen male idols wear. The kind of outfits 1920s men probably would have shot themselves for before they could even begin to fathom wearing something like that.

His most striking feature, however, was his lavender eyes. Cyrus believed eyes were the window to the soul, and there seemed to be quite the mysteriousness to the lavender hues of Yuuta's set, in particular.

The shade matches him, Cyrus thought to himself while he stole another glance.

By that point, however, Cyrus had been caught red-handed and earned a skeptical raise of Yuuta's brow in reply.

“What’re you looking at?” Yuuta questioned, his voice cautious. “Is there… Something on my face?”

Other than pure handsomeness? Cyrus shook his head at the sudden offhandedly thrown comment, earning an even more bewildered expression out of Yuuta.

“Cy,” Yuuta snapped two fingers in front of Cyrus' face. A feeble attempt at garnering his attention once more. “Earth to- Wonderland to Cyrus— you still with me?”

Once again, Cyrus found himself getting lost in the lavender hue of his irises. The way they resembled the smooth pigment of watercolor.

He found his focus… After staring into them for that small, sacrilegious eternity.

“I'm here… I'm fine.”

Cyrus took up messaging Yuuta to avoid getting distracted again.

Not only to just give him the explanations through text — because Yuuta's attention span was about as questionable as Dire Crowley's — but also to just… Blurt out random topics.

It had the disadvantage of silently pissing him off, though.

It wasn't even every 15 minutes anymore, it was every second when Cyrus had something new and random pop up in his mind. And when that happened, he'd tell it to Yuuta even if he didn't respond or express his opinion on it.

One moment Cyrus was a flirt, the next he just said things that just happened to piss Yuuta off.

And it went on like that for the next. Three. Hours.

Pick-up line after pick-up line, Cyrus cemented himself as even more of an egotistical flirt than Yuuta could ever hope to be.

And some lines weren't exactly… “Family friendly”, at times. Nothing too inappropriate, just stuff that most people wouldn't use as pick-up lines.

Once he got really pissed off, Yuuta just… Snatched Cyrus's phone out of his grasp without even bothering to look at him, in the process.

Cyrus gasped in what could only be described as the energy of an overdramatic theater kid. “Yuuta-! Give my phone ba-”

“Ah ah ah,” Yuuta shook his finger in his face, a cocky grin gracing his unfortunately endearing face. “No can do, Cy. I'm not giving it back yet.”

“It's my phone.”

“I know.”

“You will give it back, Yuuta.”

“I can promise that,” Yuuta's grin transitioned into a smirk. Oh, how Cyrus wished it didn't have the kind of effect on him as it did. “I'll give you your phone back after a while…”

Wildly unnecessary, it was for Yuuta to hold Cyrus’ chin the way he did.

“On two conditions.”

Cyrus scoffed. Whatever the conditions were, he figured it had something to do with the obvious fact that he could've just talked to Yuuta instead of texting him— he was right next to him, after all.

“One,” — he held up one finger — “you continue helping me with my notes.”

That, Cyrus can do. But then Yuuta held up a second finger, and that made him feel slightly uneasy.

“... You actually talk to me in person, instead of distracting yourself on your phone and texting me as some compromise.”

Well then.

Rolling his eyes, Cyrus pulled away from the grip Yuuta had on his chin, hiding away whatever flushed feelings he had from having his face so close to his own.

Regardless of how he felt… He knew that getting too close to Sumeragi Yuuta would be his undoing— to feel so endeared by a man who would only put himself first, had it not been for the circumstances of losing the only person he truly cared about.

A person Cyrus Olympia could never compare himself, to.

"Hey, Rainbow Tetra. Made ya somethin'." He draws something out of his pocket, grinning as he presents her with a tiny bag full of golden-orange candies in various shapes. A hammer, a star, an acorn, and a few speckled eggs.

"You'll have ta try them all to figure out the flavors." His eyes crinkled as his grin widened. "But I'm sure you'll like 'em. I'll give ya a hint just cause I feel like it. There's orange an' honey, spicy peppers, some strawberry and mango too. Enjoy~"

"Huh?" Looking up to Floyd when he stops in front of her, she politely receives the bag from him and looking down into it before back up at him. It's rather fascinating how skilled he's gotten with cooking and confections! The shapes are so fascinating and fun, how could she not be enamored by them?

Looking up at Floyd with a smile, she couldn't help but the confusion in her brow as he describes everything. Weren't different flavors different colors? These were all golden-orange! Unless. . .was he skilled enough to make them all the same color, but taste differently? It was almost like eating them blindfolded! There's no way she'd be able to tell what flavor was what!

Although the idea of eating something and going from sweet to extremely spicy was a funny thought, if nothing else.

It's with a small laugh that she flutters up from the ground and hugs on tight to Floyd. Her arms around his shoulders as she nuzzles her cheek against his. Pulling back, she stays fluttering in front of him. A little awkward, being this big and fluttering for her, but better than walking still. "This is gonna be fun as HELL ta eat!"

Information about 2021 and 2022 TWST Valentine Gifts here! 2023's Valentine Gift is a macaron-like compact mirror. Character signatures here! 2021 Letters (text only) here! 2022 Letters (text only) here! 2023 Letters (text only) below the cut!! ***SPOILERS AHEAD!!***

Something interesting to note! The 2023 letters all seem to indicate that the sender's gift was something sweet and edible in nature. Previous years thanked the sender for their "gift", but did not typically indicate what the gift was.
