My experience with Lady Justice as a deity ⚖️
She has this very motherly presence. Sometimes I can smell her perfume around the house, it is calming and smells like home. I work closely with her, regarding injustices that I have personally experienced firsthand. What I do is open a word file dedicated to her and write letters regarding said injustices and see if she is able to help me. She is a very busy deity you see. However, when in her presence she is very easy to converse with.
Tumblr media
She appears to me without her blindfold, as she does takes a friendly approach. I believe that Lady Justice or Themis, is an extremely underrated deity in the pagan community online. I hope to find more worshippers of her as I am currently still building our relationship.

How to change the world
-by an aspiring conservationist and environmental activist, and by a person who’s sick of doom scrolling.
If you’re not sure what you want in life, are angry about injustice in the world, want to directly affect the world in a noticeable way, or are curious how activism works in real life, this post is for you
1) don’t fall into the trap of social media activism. It’s a great thing in general and has led to some significant improvements in society, but when taken to the extreme it will lead to stress and burnout. Posting about issues in the world and trying to garner attention for problems requires specific skill sets. If that’s what you want to do with your life, studying journalism is the best way to get there.
2) take a break from social media. Not the whole internet, just social media. Try accessing public information, look up the things you’re interested in. You want to know more about how weather forecasts work? Nearly all the methods used are in the public domain, you’ll definitely be able to find articles and journals on nearly any topic.
3) reach out to people. The scientific journal you want to read is behind a paywall? Find out who the author is and send them an email requesting a copy. They’ve already been paid for their work, and will very likely send one. More than that though, find organizations in your local community who are trying to take on the same problems you want to.
3) keep reaching out. Seriously, the people in this world who are directly affecting the most change are the ones who are focusing on one issue to address and learning how to be really good at addressing that issue. Find the right community, and put roots down.
4) try and stack your skills. You might not be able to be the best physicist out there, but you might be able to be the best physicist/mycologist/bio chemist. Find skills that intersect eachother and pair together well. I’m using the sciences as examples, but so many fields and skills and crafts have the power to affect change. Artists making prints and stickers and logos for activists groups. Writers and public speakers to help get the rhetoric across. People with skills in management and organizing, skills in web design, in film or video.
It’s devastating that societal individualism in some places has gotten to the point that people need to relearn how to be part of communities.
Learning how to rely on and be part of a community is such an important thing, and while it might require some trial and error, finding the right people and the right purpose can be the most wonderful thing in life.

A Prayer for Social Justice
Mighty Hekate, Queen of Land, Sky, and Sea,
In all realms where you reign, grant us favor.
Hekate Soteira, Saving Goddess,
Strengthen us as we fight for justice.
Hekate Apotropaia, Averter of Evil,
Ward us against those who would inflict harm.
Hekate Trioditis, Goddess of the Crossroads,
We have traveled far through the yawning dark;
May you bless what remains of this long journey.
I wanted to share the prayer above. I wrote it many years ago. Injustice of every kind is running rampant. The anti-abortion ruling. The Miranda rights ruling. Lack of gun control. Violence against BIPOC. Violence against the LGBTQIA community, especially my trans sibs. The list goes on. I engage in political action for justice AND I pray to my deities. I hope my prayer brings people some comfort & the energy to keep fighting for justice.

Rune Reading for the month of March:
Berkano, Naudhiz, Othala
I read this as "women need protection". Although Othala usually means home or ancestral land, for those of us in the United States women are being attacked in our own homes, our reproductive rights stripped, our autonomy and agency challenged.
March is the month of action. In it, we feminist witches & pagans, and our allies must stand up for our rights of self determination. I encourage you to write to your congressperson sometime this month and encourage them to support federal protection for women's reproductive rights:

PS: I have a sneaking suspicion that Freyja influenced my draw here, lol 🤣

Queer Witch’s Manifesto 2.0 (2023)
(Written in 2021 originally sourced from another manifesto online, this was adjusted for my own needs back then, now updated again to better fit the needs of 2023 and so forth. Finished this edit up for the Full Super Sturgeon Moon of Aug 1st ~ 3rd 2023, as I re-investigated my life’s values and what made up who I am for my 32nd solar return on July 24th. Enjoy. If this echoes true with you, you are allowed to use this manifesto for yourself too. It is open and free to use and change as you need. Take care. -O) ---- There are INFINITE genders or lack thereof and sexual identities. Each one deserves the same space and respect as the next. Each one brings something unique and necessary to a circle should they choose to share their magic with us. We are not limited by binarism. White supremacy upholds ideals and expectations that harm EVERYONE and must fall. Christo-fascists seek out only furthering this harm in our communities. We must NOT let it continue. Even though white supremacy harms everyone, white people must not center themselves in discussions or plans for taking it down. We must center the voices of those most marginalized by white supremacy first and foremost Because we are fighting white supremacy, queer magicians must work hard not to appropriate sacred religious tools, artifacts, aesthetics, practices, or deities that do not belong to us.    Sex magic is powerful, beautiful, and queer. It should not be censored. Like anything sexual, we must hold up the idea that informed and enthusiastic consent is mandatory.    Our queered-up version of sex magic also fights rape culture, patriarchy, heteronormativity, and cisnormativity. Though we are anti-capitalist we recognize the constraints of the society we live in and know that money magic is often critical and empowering for those living in the margins. We recognize that the Goddess does not equal “womb worship” and that ANYONE can invoke “Goddess energy.” Goddess energy is intersectional. We recognize that some witches may have physical, emotional, or mental limits that cannot be overcome with spirituality. We welcome these witches to bring their whole, real and authentic selves into a magical space and cast spells in a way that works best for them. Magic is not diminished by disability. Disabled witchcraft is powerful, immeasurably so. All bodies are capable and deserving of magic and joy in their lives. We recognize that individual traumas may need to be healed before we move on to collective work. Global climate change is killing us all and we MUST protect and heal the Earth. Hierarchies do not work in a queer magical context. We are equals even if our jobs differ. MAGIC IS A TOOL FOR PERSONAL HEALING THAT LEADS TO EMPOWERMENT. This empowerment enables us to focus on social progress, empowering others, and collective liberation.

Daily reminder to fellow white pagans and the like: Sage is not for you. Do not burn sage. Please stop. We have been told time and time again that it is not for us by indigenous folks. Ignorance is no longer an excuse.

#2616
You claim to be the daughters of the witches they could not burn. Fine. Then we are the children of the ones they drowned, witch and falsely accused alike, weighed down with rope and stone and iron chains. The waves of brackish lake water and briny ocean which filled their lungs at the final gasp now lap at the backs of our throats, leaving crusts of dried minerals to grind between our bared…

Spreading Awareness!
Many people are familiar with the Salem Witch Trials, but have never heard of the Connecticut Witch Trials.
While many states and countries have exonerated and cleared the names of many of their witch trial victims, Connecticut has not yet overturned the convictions of those wrongfully accused. It would mean a lot to me if you considered reading and signing this petition to correct history and reverse this social injustice.

If you’re interested in learning more about the Connecticut Witch Trials and what is being done to clear the names of the victims, I’ll note a few social media accounts below.

Greek gods for justice
Here's just a list of Greek deities that are good to pray to, make offerings to, or work with, while opposing injustice, fighting for rights, protesting, and all that good stuff.
Athena
Tumblr media
Athena is goddess of wisdom and war. She represents the more thoughtful side of fighting a war - the strategy involved. Whether its a war or a fight for rights, Athena can give you clarity and foresight when making decisions.
Athena also carries the Aegis, which offers powerful protection.
Ares
Tumblr media
While Ares has often been vilified as a god who cares only about killing and destruction, there is a valiant side to him as well. Ares is the master of the battle, appearing when push comes to shove. To have his favour is to live to see another fight. You hope that it never comes to a life or death situation, but we have seen many times when a protestor is attacked by police or self-styled vigilantes.
Themis
Tumblr media
Everyone recognises Lady Justice - Themis represents the justice system. I know what you're thinking- cops, right? Well, the ins and outs of the system have good parts and bad. We all want bad people to pay for the bad things they do. When the system works, this is what happens, but sometimes the system is the problem. Whether it's police brutality or unjust laws, sometimes you need to change it.
Themis represents what is, but perhaps her favour can allow us to shape the future of the justice system to be more... well, just. Or at least influence the hearts and minds of judges & justices - gods know some of them need it.
Nemesis
Tumblr media
The fearsome goddess Nemesis comes for the wicked, even when the justice system fails. She punishes those who commit hubris and enjoy undeserved money and power.
Frankly, she is the goddess we need in this day and age of unthinkable inequality.
