People need to be less concerned with Christians stealing things from Pagans and witches and more concerned with Pagans and witches stealing things from BIPOC, ethnic minorities, and closed practices, by the way.

Why are closed practices only for POC??
I got this question on the same day I got the "why are your polls only for POC" question so I'm going to assume they're the same Anon. And I'm going to assume this is asked in good faith.
I'll pretty much copy and paste my answer from that poll:
People of color have had their own practices for years before colonizers came to our countries, forced Christianity on us, and tried to wipe us out. We were torn from our ancestral beliefs, and punished if we dared step out of line. And they had the gall to say that all the genocide they committed against us was for “the greater good”, because it was “civilizing” us.
So after all those horrible things happened to us, naturally we wanted to connect back to our roots. For a lot of us, we did! But after the horrors colonizers forced on us, we decided to close our practices (please note that not all closed practices are closed for the same reasons! This is more of a general reason) to keep them safe from further harm and marginalization. You want to join our practices? Go through the proper channels, or don’t touch them AT ALL.
But this colonizer mindset of “I want to take everything” still persists to this day. Go to any blog of a person of color and you’ll see white people trying to force their way into closed spaces. Spaces that are not for them. But they aren’t in the wrong. They can’t be, because they’re good people! No! It’s the evil people of color who are gatekeeping their cultures, and who think they’re better than everyone else who are wrong, not the poor little white people who try to take things that don’t belong to them*.
I'm going to add on that a lot of closed practices don't even mind initiating outsiders! They aren't all closed for the same reason, or to the same extent. Some might allow outsiders, some you must be a certain race, some you have to have parents who were in it, etc.
If you're going through the correct doors to try to get initiated? No one would mind because that's the respectful thing to do. Because you're taking time to learn about these practices in their contexts, and are treating the practitioners like actual human beings instead of people you can just steal from.
What begins the issue is when people sneak into our practices, take them for their own, and then act as though they made it, when all it is is a bastardization of the love and care we put into our practices. It's not kind! It's not nice! But they don't care, because all they want is something "exotic".
We close off our practices to keep them safe from the people who steal from us. Not because we think we're better than anyone else, or because we want to be an exclusive club. If you can't see the horrors that have been inflicted on us in the past and be compassionate about it, then we know you just want to be part of a closed practice because it's "exotic".

Just a quick little thing:
ppl (especially yt women) need to stop using the phrase "I'm the descendant of the witches you didn't burn." The whole point of the witch trials is that the women were NOT witches and were tortured and killed for existing while being women, Salem was a special case cuz two girls were just lying on random women for attention. You are not the descendant of a "witch" you're most likely the descendant of the ppl who killed innocent women, And you can fight me cuz that phrase is so disrespectful those were actual ppl.

paganism/druidism
so, @apollowritesstuff asked for some information on paganism and the like after i posted a graphic of pagan holidays/celebrations. this is a short introduction to paganism and druidism—keep in mind that paganism is super diverse, so people follow it in a lot of different ways, and this is just my 'take' on it.
when people describe themselves as pagan, they most likely follow a religion more accurately described as neopaganism or modern paganism. it stems from Celtic and Roman religions, but after the roman empire, it was often applied to anyone who wasn't Christian.
modern paganism is split into many different branches or ways of practicing paganism, and i'll talk about a few of the main ones below. however, in general, paganism focuses on the divineness of the earth, the universe, and nature. paganism doesn't necessarily worship a select divine being(s), and unlike most religions it doesn't follow a sacred text. modern paganism also draws possible inspiration from north African and Dharmic religions, although this is often left out of paganism and it's history. modern paganism is very confusing to explain, because not only are the different 'branches' of paganism wildly different, but within each branch the way individuals practice is very diverse as well.
personally, i consider myself a druid or a druid pagan. druidism focuses very closely on the physical aspects of the earth and nature. it focuses on worshipping the sanctity of the natural world, and in a modern setting it often leans towards environmentalism and a rejection of consumerism. some druid pagans are polytheistic, but i personally hold no belief in a divine being, but rather the divinity of nature and the universe.
people who are Wiccan are often the people you see practicing on tiktok and other social media apps. wicca is also called pagan witchcraft, and the term wiccan has derivations in the words witchcraft and witch. wiccans often worship some higher power(s), and there is a strong emphasis on the practice of magic as a kind of law of nature. wiccans view their magical practices as a force for good, such as healing and protection.
heathenism or (contemporary) germanic paganism is a branch of paganism that often worships multiple deities. in heathenism, rather than being seen as infallible, these gods are represented in a personified light, with strengths and weaknesses. these gods often come from Scandinavian and anglo-saxan sources. heathenism had a slightly darker past, with a rise in the early 1900's of people trying to keep heathenism to only ethnically and racially white people. it also seems to have been involved in the rise of the nazi party. however, nowadays, most people following heathenism place emphasis on strong ethics, including integrity and honor, and the religion is seen as much more open.
please correct me if i am wrong with any of my info, as i don't know a lot about other branches of paganism! there are also many, many more apart from the three i described, but i hope this post gives a good introduction.

Not a Spirit Animal
I've been thinking long and hard about the appropriation of spirit animals lately. It's been a discussion in our culture for a long while now, especially with the fad of referring to people and memes as spirit animals, which is... odd to me.
Alternatives have been proposed, but most of them don't ring true to me.
Familiar, Daimon, Genius, Muses, Fylgja, Inner Beast, Guide, Avatar (still a bit on the problematic side), etc... None of them fit my personal ideology. And don't get me started on how much I hate the use of Patronus as an alternative - I'd rather distance myself from Rowling and her transphobic entitlement as much as possible.
Today I found something that hits just right for me: Eidolon.
This one might offend some practitioners, since one definition is "specter or phantom", which can be equated to a mirage or even a hostile spirit. However, another definition is "ideal," specifically relating to an ideal person or thing - such as someone being an eidolon of a particular archetype or role.
So why do I like this?
I believe that gods, Anglicized "spirit animals", and other assisting/guiding hands are two sides of one coin, much like people. Good/bad, negative/positive, malevolent/benevolent. There's no reason to assume that these beings are 100% one side or the other 100% of the time - that robs them of agency and diminishes their power.
I also very much enjoy that Eidolon is also a genus of megabats, so it already has ties to the animal world. That reason to me is just icing on the cake.
Obviously, it's up to everyone to find what works best for them, but I highly recommend being respectful to other cultures' identities and practices and using anything but "spirit animal".
Thank you for listening to my ramblings.

I know I've said this before, but too many of y'all jumped into paganism/polytheism without having even started unpacking cultural Christianity and it's literally helping nobody, least of all the people of color and ethnic minorities.

Why are your polls for POC only??
I'm going to assume this question is in good faith, and that you don't really understand the history of people of color in witchcraft and pagan spaces.
Anon, please don't take anything that I say as being rude to you, please understand that questions like this genuinely get tiring after the 120th time people of color get asked it. And if we don't respond with coddling, we get accused of being aggressive and hateful.
ANY space that has a majority white population will, intended or not, be extremely hostile towards people of color. This is no different here in witchcraft and pagan spaces.
People of color have had their own practices for years before colonizers came to our countries, forced Christianity on us, and tried to wipe us out. We were torn from our ancestral beliefs, and punished if we dared step out of line. And they had the gall to say that all the genocide they committed against us was for "the greater good", because it was "civilizing" us.
Go through the proper channels, or don't touch them AT ALL.
But this colonizer mindset of "I want to take everything" still persists to this day. Go to any blog of a person of color and you'll see white people trying to force their way into closed spaces. Spaces that are not for them. But they aren't in the wrong. They can't be, because they're good people! No! It's the evil people of color who are gatekeeping their cultures, and who think they're better than everyone else who are wrong, not the poor little white people who try to take things that don't belong to them*.
The reason my polls were aimed towards people of color is because I'm trying to gauge exactly how terrible the witchcraft/pagan community is towards people of color. I want to know exactly how bad things are, and if there's any way we can do to stop this.
Sorry for the longwinded response, but that's the reason why. Any POC followers/who see this feel free to chime in.
*Obligatory "not all white people" because god forbid you call out bad behavior without having a disclaimer that it doesn't apply to everyone.
