- Idia and Ortho view Iris as a cousin and Elara sees him as a brother.
- Is referred to as cute and pretty ( Don’t fall for that innocent looking face-Idia)
- Their table was broken by people in an attempt to bully them during his first year and Iris got incredibly sad because the Shroud parents gifted it to him for getting into NRC. The others were pissed hearing what had happened but first they repaired the table with a bunch of new upgrades.
- started taking a liking to machines while look at some of Idia’s old blue prints and was given some of the unfinished or failed projects to tinker with. When Ms. Shroud learned about this she hoped on the opportunity to teach them.

- Doesn’t take it to heart when others stay away from him
- One of his friends is from Pomefiore is named Yvonne and she basically just claimed them on site. She does his nails using them as a guinea pig for new designs but Iris likes them so doesn’t really care as long as she keeps them short.

Backstory
Iris was born in a research facility kinda like STYX. His father was teacher in charge of the other kids in the facility and his mother was a researcher studying ancient materials. He was known to be an intelligent child growing in interest in ancient texts like his mother.
When Iris was 5 he developed his unique magic while holding a plant seeing some kind of bottle that was draining. Telling his parents they were shocked and did their best to help Iris understand his magic given that their both magic less. During that time Iris caught the interest of the doctor who is in a different facility offering to study Iris abilities. The parents refused getting a weird feeling from said doctors.
Over the next 3 years the doctor would continue to offer taking Iris in even trying to talk to Iris when his parents were away. This scared Iris making him refusing to leave his parents side. Even after his mother’s disappearance he was basically glued to his father.
The day of his father death is something he’ll always remember.
Iris killed two people that day the Doctor and his father.
Father said that there would be some people visiting and that they needed to pack up some things. When they were leaving Iris saw the doctor come up behind his father.
The doctor stabbed his father with some needle and tried to drag him away. He used his unique magic, he had to get away from that man. Iris just wanted to weaken the man but from the distress he didn’t pay attention to the bottle draining quickly. Once the doctor let go he ran back to his father
With his father what ever the doctor injected into had his dad in pain. They tried to get to the place where they needed to go but Father couldn’t make it. The pain was unbearable , he was coughing up blood and he couldn’t move anymore so Iris used his unique magic so that his dad wouldn’t die in pain. The bottle was less than half full and was draining without Iris even doing anything.
Iris was later found by STXY.

“What happened, pretty?” Worry laced Tobi’s voice as he went up to scoop Jas to help her stand up from where she was sitting on the curb of the almost empty parking lot. Jas refused to talk and instead just managed to wrap her arms around his torso. “C’mon, pretty… Paano ka tutulungan kung hindi mo sasabihin kung anong problema?”
Jas refused to look at him, burying her face on his shoulder, trying to angle her head to a more comfortable spot. The height difference wasn’t much, he was probably not more than 5 inches taller than her but it was still a comfortable fit. “Did Alistair do something?”
Jas didn’t know what to tell him, to be completely honest. One moment she was angry typing on her phone then the next thing she knew she was looking around for an exit out of the venue, desperately trying to find a spot where she can breathe without the threat of anyone watching her probably judging her for still being that affected by a past relationship that’s been over for already a good 4 years–even 5 probably–she doesn’t even remember at that point which made her even more frustrated because she couldn’t even recall when it happened but it made her so uncomfortable to the point that it was causing trouble. And she hates it. Dahil okay naman s’ya bago n’ya nakita uli si Alistair—bago s’ya nagtext. Tapos text lang hindi na s’ya magkaigi?
“Jacynthe,” Tobi calls once again, this time more sternly. Hawak-hawak n’ya ang baba ni Jas para hindi ito umiwas ng tingin sa kaniya. He couldn’t help but notice how his stomach dropped when he saw how flushed her face was from crying. “Anong nangyari?”
Still, Jas didn’t know how or even what to tell him. Perhaps she was embarrassed to realize that she had catastrophized the entire situation if she actually says it out loud—but at the same time, she didn’t want to push Tobi’s buttons and anger him to the point that he’d walk away from how much of a disaster she really is. After all, most of her previous boyfriends did that—the moment they realized that she wasn’t the dazzling starlet that the media was presenting her as and she was in fact a disaster compressed into human form—they left and would come back again if they needed to relieve themselves.
Jacynthe has made a lot of mistakes. She was well aware of it. From accepting the boys back whenever they wanted to get their dick wet to falling in love with her best friend growing up only for him to be a complete asshole—she’s not proud of it. She hates that it shaped who she was right now—unable to speak about what was troubling her emotionally and deathly afraid of losing probably one of the most genuine people she ever met.
“Jas–”
“I don’t want to talk about it, Tobi—just hold me, please,” she didn’t know what gave her the audacity to demand things from him or what made her think to ask for something so intimate from Tobi. But while her mind was ruminating, Tobi could not feel more relieved that she said something. That she communicated what she wanted to do at the moment—and that he did.
He held her. Tight, like Leon told him when he taught him how to calm Eli down if she ever experienced anything close to a panic attack and he was not around. It never quite worked on Eli and it was only ever effective when Leon did it for her, but it worked wonders on Bianca. In the back of his mind, though he does not want to admit just yet, he was praying that it would work on Jas and her cries would subside so that she would feel better. It was all he wanted at that moment. He didn’t even want to know why she was crying. He just wanted her to feel okay.
“What do you want me to do?”
“Kiss me,” as daring as it sounded, Jas was just as surprised at the impulsive thought that just slipped out of her mouth. She only intended for it to be a thought, but who was Tobi to decline? He has been craving for her lips since they parted from their spontaneous make out session in the mall parking lot before they left. God. He couldn’t explain how it kept him awake that night to think about when it was going to happen again. And now they’re here.
“Are you sure?”
Before Jas could even make a full nod, his lips were already on her. Although surprised, she was able to kiss him back in a moment, hands finding solace on the soft cotton on the sleeve of his expensive dress shirt. She could taste the faint sweetness of his strawberry flavored air she knew he hit before he came to find her.
Mama always warned me about smoking and flavored air—but never if it was on someone else’s tongue and good lord was it addicting. Jas thought to herself as she found her other hand crawling on the back of Tobi’s head holding him closer as her as she held her breath, mind focusing on the heat on her face as Tobi hands safely snakes its way to her waist.
“Tobi–”
“Why, pretty?”
“More, please?”
Oh god. The next thing Tobi knew they were cramped in the back of Jas’ Black Audi A3, with him leaving a trail of bruises on her collarbones and the column of her neck.
“Tobi–”
And as if Tobi wasn’t tight enough in his pants, hearing Jas moan from just mere kisses was making it even worse. Yes, worse—he doesn’t know how to survive this hard on if Jas decides to give him blue balls once again.
“Yes, pretty?” he teased, pulling away looking at her already fuck out expression despite them barely even meeting the foreplay point. “So fucking pretty, Jacynthe.” He smiled, hand reaching up to her face to wipe the tear stains on her plump cheeks before moving a piece of red hair that was sticking on her face. "Ganda," he repeats, hand finally resting on her neck, making Jas moan against him upon mere contact.
“Then fucking do something,” she moans against his lips, trying to move her hips against his leg that was situated between her thighs for some sort of relief. “Tangina, Tobi—”
continue here: pretty. ( pw authenticated; clue: jas' full name; no space; all lowercase; 16 letters )
He doesn’t know what he’s doing, that’s the truth. Maybe it’s because Jas is so special to him and he actually considers her as a friend unlike all of his past fuck buddies that he never grew an attachment for. Everything felt uncertain for him, but one thing—he never did this with anyone. He never cuddles after sex. He doesn’t even kiss his previous sexual partners whenever they do the deed but Jas felt oddly different.
Jacynthe was intoxicating and as unaware as she is, Tobi just knows… Tobi is going to give the world to her if she asked for it—blindly. Maybe quitting cigarettes wouldn’t be so hard if he gets addicted to the next most addicting thing that’s within hold, right?

✩ — 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐒.
▸     IS  YOUR  MUSE  TALL  /  SHORT  /  AVERAGE? short.
▸      ARE  THEY  OKAY  WITH  THEIR  HEIGHT ? She doesn't have problems with being short, her mate is tall enough for the both of them. If she can't reach something she can either get him or crawl up onto things. Besides, people often underestimate her because of her size, and it's nice to be able to surprise dirtbags.
▸      WHAT’S    THEIR    HAIR    LIKE? Her hair is long, wavy, and about halfway down her back, and it is so black it looks blue in the light. Though when it's wet-it turns cobalt blue--rather than black.
▸     DO    THEY    SPEND    A    LOT    OF    TIME    ON    THEIR    HAIR    /    GROOMING? She doesn't spend inordinate amounts of time on it. She washes it every few days, and keeps it combed as best she can.
▸      DOES  YOUR  MUSE  CARE  ABOUT  THEIR  APPEARANCE  /  WHAT  OTHERS  THINK ? Kagome does care about her appearance to an extent. Like she's not overly meticulous about it--by any means. But she tries to look good for her mate and be clean and well-groomed for any public she's probably going to see.

✩ — 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐄.
▸      WHAT    ARE    SOME    OF    YOUR    MUSE’S    BAD    HABITS? She has a bad habit of not eating at all...it stemmed from a time in her life when she was anorexic. Took her a long time to get through that--and as it is a disorder, it still nags at her heels to this day. She's also got a fairly short fuse when it comes to villainy, and she's incredibly stubborn and argumentative.
▸      HAS  YOUR  MUSE  LOST  ANYONE  CLOSE  TO  THEM?  HOW  HAS  IT  AFFECTED   THEM? She lost her father when she was young. Though he wasn't exactly close to her, and he didn't die--as far as she knows--he just left her mother shortly after Mama had become pregnant with her little brother. It had a major effect on her, but she keeps it internalized and rarely lets it show. Though it may be the reason she's deathly afraid of losing her immediate family and friends.
▸      WHAT  ARE  SOME  FOND  MEMORIES  YOUR  MUSE  HAS? She remembers her first white day with Inuyasha. He gave her a card with a fair attempt at writing---though was largely miswritten, but it had a sweet message~! They were on her bed in her room in the modern era and she had been petting Buyo when he gave it to her with an embarrassed look. She also remembers the day she told Mama she was 'married.' It was hella embarrassing because Mama threw condoms at Inuyasha--but it's a fond memory because it's funny now. She remembers the day she gave birth to her first child, and Inuyasha was so extremely worried because he really did not know what to expect. Miroku thought he would pass out.
▸     IS  IT  EASY  FOR  YOUR  MUSE  TO  KILL? Depends. She can easily kill if it's a life-or-death situation, and/or her family is at stake. She won't like it--but if it's necessary she can do it easily.
▸      WHAT’S  IT  LIKE  WHEN  YOUR  MUSE  BREAKS  DOWN? When Kagome breaks down-she becomes depressed, silent, and withdrawn. She doesn't scream at the sky, or cry wildly or anything showy. She just--shuts off-and shuts down.
▸      IS  YOUR  MUSE  CAPABLE  OF  TRUSTING  SOMEONE  WITH  THEIR  LIFE? She has. And has done it often And will very likely do it again.
▸      WHAT’S  YOUR  MUSE  LIKE  WHEN  THEY’RE  IN  LOVE? Kagome just wants to be with the person...Regardless of anything that may be happening otherwise. She thinks about their happiness and rarely her own. She will beat down anyone who disparages the object of her love/interest, and she can rarely keep them from her thoughts. They'll invade every minute of every day somehow.

so basically all of them lol,
0: Height. 170 something centimetres. im actually not 100% sure.
2: Shoe size. US womens 7
6: Age you get mistaken for. like somewhere between 18 and 20. and people at resturants always try to serve me alcohol and then im like "hey buddy im a child" and theyre like "WHAT". one time someone thought me and my mum were sisters and im like no dude shes like 40 something and im her teenage daughter, we r not the same.
8: Want any tattoos? hell yeah (dont tell my parents or irl friends who are on here lol) one day i will get a bunch of tattoos and dissapoint my mother. possibly. (<- is deathly afraid of needles) (<- has never tried getting a tattoo but probably will not be able to sit still long enough while getting tattooed without throwing up) (we shall see tho cause needles in different settings are different levels of scary, sewing is fine and as you will see i have multiple piercings). Anyway, I want angel wings on my back i think that'd be pretty epic - and like a proper biblically accurate angel with 6 of them, and obviously i want the triforce on my hand, i want a six leaf clover somewhere, and "art is the weapon"(cause i think the statement is cool and meaningful not just cause mcr said it, although danger days is one of my favourite albums of all time), and a goldfish, and probably a venus flytrap, and a bunch of other random stuff. probably the lyric that's in the bio of this blog. but not tooooo many i dont want them all over, they need space to breathe and not look all squished up (<- studies art and appreciates the importance of composition and framing).
9: Got any piercings? I have a few. (<- guy who has 7 holes stabbed in his ears) (although the regular lobe piercings should really be counted in pairs as one piercing each) (which would make 5) only on my ears tho. I've got normal ear lobe piercings, and then second ear lobe piercings and ive got 2 helix piercings on one side and 1 on the other.
10: Want any piercings? Yes ehe. i will get more (: One day im gonna get an eyebrow piercing, and possibly a lip piercing. but right now my father will not let me ):
11: Best friend? this is a rlly hard question i have like 3 best friends. I dont really do one individual person bff i just have a few close friends
16: I’ll love you if… you talk to me about any of my interests
19: A fact about your personality. I talk a looooott
22: What I want to be when I get older. aaaaa i never know. (<- is very much in their "what will i do with my life" existential crisis era) I wanna do art but idk how to get a job in that and i really hate graphic design. id like to be a botanist plant science is cool. tbh i wanna like run a random really niche shop that sells something I like. or i wanna be in a band or actually get paid to just do my art, but that doesnt count as real career aspirations.
26: My biggest pet peeves. when people leave powerpoints switched on when theres nothing plugged in.
29: A reason I’ve lied to a friend. really boring but i lied to my friend about who i do/dont actually have a crush on. no one will ever know (except the one friend who does know)
44: A random fact about anything. Fancy goldfish have an average lifespan of 10-15 years, which is actually longer than a domestic cat.

The Great Animal Rescue
Summary: You should have minded your own business, but try saying no to a little girl who was crying for her cat. Now you are stuck in a tree trying not to embarrass yourself in front of the attractive individual who comes to your rescue.
A/N: This is a Skye/Daisy x reader short that is meant to give some background for them in I Said No
___________________________________________________________________
2:17pm
Y/N where r u??
You are stuck in a tree with no way down is where you are. You should really learn to say no to people. It’s what got you into this mess in the first place. You were on your way to meet your friends at the movies after stopping at an ice cream shop for a cone. You thought, why not walk the way there? It is only a few blocks away and it’s nice outside.
So you began walking, licking your ice cream happily. It’s nothing compared to the ice cream shop in the small town where your cousin lives, but this one is still pretty damn good. Not two minutes into your stroll, the sound of someone sniffling made you pause. You hesitated to investigate where the noise was coming from, seeing that your cousin’s husband has given you plenty of lectures about stranger danger. You ignored the voice in your head saying he might have a point. He spends a lot of his time in New York; there are a lot of weirdos there. This is LA in broad daylight. The worst thing that could happen where you were at the moment would have been getting run over by an electric scooter.
Clearly you were wrong.
It turned out to be some kid crying because her cat wouldn’t come down from the tree. You asked her where her parents were. She said they were inside the house and wouldn’t come outside because if the cat could climb up, it would eventually come back down. You told her they were probably right and were about to leave her there on the sidewalk but that was before she gave you some of the most adorable puppy dog eyes and a “please”.
You asked the girl to hold your cone while you spotted the cat. It didn’t seem to be too far up into the tree. You started climbing up, grabbing a branch and hoisting yourself up. One branch made a on your green sweater, making you mumble in displeasure the rest of the way up to the cat. You should have listened to her parents as well. As soon as you had reached the cat, the damn thing ran past you and ran down the tree like a squirrel. You nearly lost your balance.
The girl thanked you even though you didn’t really do anything and ran inside her house after her cat, taking your ice cream with her. After mumbling to yourself on never falling for some puppy eyes again, you realized how far up you actually were. Your face blanched and your grip tightened around the tree branch keeping you balanced.
You felt your phone vibrate and it took you 5 minutes to actually take it out to read the message. That’s where you are at right now. Trying to message your friend Ola back, typing with one shaky thumb.
2:23pm
Stuck intr ee two block sway help
Before pressing send, you think it over. Should you message her back? You know if you tell her to come rescue you, she would come with the rest of the gang and they would never let you live it down. Is it worth it? Better that than dying up here, you think.
Going to press send, your sweaty hand loses its grip on your phone and it falls onto the grass below. “Fuck!”
“Fuck!” Someone echoes from below, startling you in return. “Shit!”
You’re practically hugging the tree at this point. The person below you speaks to you, “You scared the shit out of me. What are you doing up there?”
You hesitate to look down but brave the fear of looking down to see the woman talking to you. And what a spectacular view you have. Had you not already been weak in the knees from being so terrified, you would have some now from looking at this gorgeous person. She’s clearly waiting for your reply, so you clear your throat and say, “Rescuing a cat. What are you doing?”
“Walking to my van.” She points to the van across the street. “Where’s the cat?”
“What?” you ask. She raises an eyebrow at you. “You said you were rescuing a cat, but I don’t see any.”
“Very observant of you,” you point out, not answering her question. She narrows her eyes at you. “You’re not like some weirdo trying to peek into someone’s bedroom are you?”
You scoff. “What?! No! I’m one for one on rescuing cats, actually. It went back inside to its house.” You defend yourself. “Besides, you’re the one with the creepy ‘I’ve got candy inside my van’ van, so.”
Now this stranger looks embarrassed. “It’s for work.”
“Who do you work for? The CIA?” you joke, making the woman laugh. “They’d wish.”
It’s your turn to give her a questioning look at the odd response. She ignores it and loops back to you. “So if this great animal rescue went just like you said, why are you still up there?”
“To, uh-get better reception,” you lie. She looks at you unimpressed and you see why when she bends down to pick up the phone you dropped. “You mean for the phone that’s down here on the ground?”
You laugh nervously. She catches on when she notices how tight your hold on the tree is. “Are you sure you’re not just stuck up there?”
“What? Stuck? Me?” you laugh as if what she is saying is just offensive. “No, I just liked the peacefulness the tree provided. I dropped my phone on purpose. Yeah, I didn’t want it to distract me from really appreciating the beauty of the world around us.”
“Yeah, the McDonalds down the road really does look beautiful in the daylight,” she quips.
“It’s the wonder of the golden arches,” you retort, pulling a genuine laugh from the woman.
“Well, then I’ll leave you to it,” she says. You dryly swallow, afraid that your chance at getting down from the tree will leave with her. She speaks up again. “But before I go, would you like me to send the message to Ola that somewhat reads ‘Stuck in a tree two blocks away help’?”
She smirks and you sigh at being caught. “Okay, truth is I’m deathly afraid of heights. I didn’t realize how high I actually was until I tried coming down.”
“Well, that’s okay. It is one of the most common fears,” she reasons.
“It’s embarrassing. I can’t even look at a plane without feeling nauseous.”
“Well, I think you’ve been doing well so far. Look how long you lasted up there while looking down towards me.” She points.
“That’s only because you’re a good distraction,” you confess.
She begins to climb up towards you. “Aww, are you trying to call me beautiful?”
You blush and don’t say anything though the silence speaks for you. She finally gets to you. “I’ll take that as a yes. Now, let’s get you down this tree, Robin Hood.”
“Robin Hood?” you question the nickname. “Is it because of the tree?”
“That. Also, the tights and green top pull it all together. We just need to get you a bow and some arrows and you’ll be set.” The irony at the fact that there are plenty of arrows and bows at your cousin’s house due to her husband’s profession isn’t lost on you. Unfortunately, any joke you could make about it would get you in trouble, so you just smile at the beauty trying to help you down.
She offers you her hand and helps you get down the tree branch to branch with all the patience in the world. Not once does she complain about the death grip you have on her hand. When your feet feel the ground beneath them, you feel like crying. Instead you just let go of the stranger’s hand and try to get your heartbeat to settle down to it’s regular pace.
“Not too bad, see? Soon you’ll be bungee jumping,” she jokes.
“That’s a big leap from getting down from a tree.”
“Well, yeah. It’s bungee jumping. Leaping is the first half of the process,” she says sarcastically. You roll your eyes at her playfully. Then she smiles at you with a gleam in her eye as if she just had the best idea in the world. “How about we start with something smaller then? What are you doing on Friday?”
“Um, I don’t have any plans yet.”
“Now you do. Friday night, you will be taking the next step to conquering your fear of heights!”
“It’s not bungee jumping, is it?” you ask, petrified. As beautiful as this girl may be, risking your life for the chance to see this girl one more time doesn’t seem like a well thought out trade.
“Calm down, Robin Hood. I was thinking more along the lines of getting you to ride the ferris wheel at the fair,” she reassures you, making you blush.
“Like on a date?” you shyly ask. God, you hope you didn’t just embarrass yourself.
“Like on a date.” She smiles at you and your heart feels like it’s skipping.
“Y/N.”  You throw out. She looks lost so you explain, “Every Robin Hood has a name for when they aren’t up in trees ready to rob rich people. Mine happens to be Y/N.”
“Skye.” She offers her name and you take it so willingly, letting it ruminate in your mind. “Here.” She pulls your phone out of the pocket she had put it in. She goes to your contacts and adds herself in before handing it back to you. You stare down at it in wonder.
“Well, I think your friends might be waiting on you, so…” She begins walking backwards. “I’ll see you Friday, Y/N!”
She turns around looking both ways before jogging across the street towards her van. You see her pull into the street nodding at you before driving off. You wave back after the van, dumbstruck. “What the hell just happened?” You mumble to yourself.
****
“You know when you said I would be getting on the ferris wheel, I assumed you meant you would go on it with me,” you grumble, making your way over to Skye who was waiting for you by the exit gate of the ride.
She reaches for your hand pulling you closer to her. “Some things, you have to learn to do alone. You just have to let the belief that something great will come out of pushing through your fear guide you through that fear.”
“I don’t think any funnel cake we get later was worth that experience,” you pout.
“Okay, then how about this,” she says before pulling you in to kiss you. It doesn’t last long but you let it consume you for the seconds you have. You open your eyes when she continues, “and a second date?”
“Only if it ends just like that,” you counter. She kisses you again, the second kiss leaving you just as dazed as the first.
“Deal,” she agrees, pulling you towards the funnel cake truck. “Next date, Robin Hood takes on Six Flags!”
“Wait, what?!”

So, just a side little thing for some Reader and Daisy/Skye context before she eventually shows up in I Said No. It feels like I’m giving this reader a whole Universe. The world does in fact revolve around Y/N.
Obviously (or maybe not) I dropped some references to the other fic but really you could read either without needing to read the other (if it truly breaks your heart to see reader with anyone else).

Jump Scare
A drabble for Jacob’s daughter Cleo, whose birthday it is today. Sorry I couldn’t get your profile ready in time, blame your demanding aunt.
Warnings: fear of heights.
Tumblr media
Cleo made her way through the Magical History section of the library, her fingers running over the spines of the books on the shelves as if they might guide her to the book she wanted. The library was dimly lit and almost deathly quiet, the only sound coming from her own footsteps and the gentle creaks of the floorboards beneath her.
But as Cleo reached the end of the row of shelves and turned the corner, the creaking floorboards ended abruptly, and she found herself looking down into a gaping chasm. It was as if something large and heavy had crashed through the floor and plummeted deep into the earth below, so far down that Cleo couldn’t see an end to where it had fallen.
Her pulse racing, Cleo stepped back from the edge of the abyss. But, when she turned to leave, the floor of the aisle she had just been walking down had also disappeared. She was now standing alone on a tiny island of floor, hovering over a seemingly endless drop.
It had to be a spell of some kind, so Cleo’s hand reached for her wand, and she held it in front of her, gripping it so tightly in her sweaty palm that she could feel her heartbeat in her fingertips.
“Finite incantatem,” she said, in a voice that sounded a lot more confident than she had expected. Still, though she had somehow managed to cast the spell without her fear showing in her voice, the incantation didn’t work. She frowned, and tried again. “Revelio!”
Again, nothing. Cleo wrapped her arms around the front of her chest and shuddered, still considering what her next move should be. It was difficult to think rationally, when she was standing all alone, teetering on the edge of a great height. She swallowed hard. She hated heights. They were probably the thing that scared her most in the whole world.
As soon as the thought had come into her mind, a realisation hit Cleo. Of course! The very thing she was most scared of. She raised her wand once more, and pointed it at the expanse of space below her.
“Riddikulus.”
But even though she was certain that the hole in the floor was no more than an illusion, and that the illusion was merely a Boggart, nothing happened.
“Riddikulus!”
This time, the chasm seemed to swirl a little, as if the Boggart were thinking of changing its form. But as the air settled, the abyss reformed, just as deep and terrifying as before.
Cleo was afraid, but she wasn’t ready to admit defeat. Not yet. So, she tried again. And again. And again. But try as she might, she could not repel her Boggart.
Eventually, she lowered her wand. There was only one thing for it. She couldn’t stay here forever, after all.
“It’s only a Boggart,” she told herself. “It’s not real.”
And with that, Cleo took a deep and shaky breath, screwed her eyes shut, and jumped out into the abyss.

I know I def have asked questions about Team Courage but not over tumblr, so if you’d like, perhaps a lil info dump/fun facts about them?
Oh my god I literally have so many
Four has a giant bed because he'll split in the middle of the night sometimes. This gets complicated when they move into the dorms and the bed isn't the right size at first
Four (mostly Green) likes to tinker with small things in his spare time. He makes doll furniture and is relatively good at repairing watches
Sky is deathly afraid of heights. This won't play a part in the fic at all what are you talking about :)
Wild always has food on him somehow. This is never explained
Both Wild and Hyrule require a ton of energy to use their powers effectively, so they both eat and sleep a TON
Twilight was dating Midna who was also dating Dusk. Twilight was friends with Dusk but after Midna left they just became extremely awkward around each other
Wind is a massive anime fan. His favorites are One Piece and My Hero Academia. He binged Madoka Magica with Four and one sitting and they both regret it although they still like the show
Adding onto that last fact, Wind and Four befriend Sky and make him watch anime with them
Time grew up in an orphanage run by Saria and Mr. Deku. Saria took over after Mr. Deku passed. Her powers keep her from aging past 16 and she's functionally immortal. Mentally she's like 60, although she tries to be hip
Wild used to be a gymnast in high school, as he got kicked off the track and field team due to his powers. He also has a motorcycle license that he doesn't remember getting
Wild has a slight crush on both Mipha and Revali but whether or not he follows through with that is up in the air
All the champions are alive and well in this AU because I didn't feel like coming up with how they die lol
Flora's powers let her shoot beams of light energy out of her hands
Warriors' best friend is Artemis, who's a fencing instructor
Warriors has a lot of complex feelings about his powers. Mainly because there was a period in time where he used them to get what he wanted a little too much. He rarely uses them nowadays
Due to his powers, Twilight's hair grows super fast. He's had to learn how to cut it himself so he can save money
Wind acts like a big brother to everyone even though he's literally the youngest
Legend has no regard for doors. He will just walk through them and not even bother to open them for other people (unless it's ravio lol). This also makes stealing things easier, especially from places that have bells that ring when you walk in
Legend is almost never wearing pants, the most he'll wear is shorts. Otherwise, it's skirts or dresses
Legend probably dyes Wind and Four's hair at some point
Impa has a very,,, subtle sense of humor
Hyrule became very famous in the medical field very quickly due to his powers. He's still just an intern but they'll often call him up for emergency cases. He sees it as a double-edged-sword.
Legend stays up super late and is often the one who ends up talking to someone having a crisis at 2am
Warriors runs a youtube channel which is mostly vlogs and fashion tutorials. He did a Q&A video where he mentioned he was ex-military and everyone was floored
Wild stress cooks a lot, which becomes amplified now that he has eight other people to potentially cook for
Twilight is always hungry, but doesn't have the same "always has food on him" ability that Wild seems to have. He ends up stealing food from the fridge a lot much to the chagrin of the others
Sky and Sun have two parrots that resemble their canon loftwings
Sky's plane was called "The Crimson" and unsurprisingly, it was bright red
Might make a part two of this haha. If you have questions about specific people and how their powers work let me know! There's other characters besides the main 9 too although I can't guarantee they have powers

(I wrote this while very tired so it won’t be the best but the fanfic fingers don’t stop for anyone so I wrote some very cute rz Michael Myers and baby june fanfic after reading some fluffy fanfics of him)
Sunny Days (rz Michael Myers and June Marie Heisenberg-Myers)
TW: none. Nothing but sheer adorableness, proceed with caution ⚠️
The sun beamed down on Michael’s face. His long, unkempt, blond hair shining in the bright light as he waited outside of Westfield Elementary school. He stood as stiff as a board, except for his left foot, which he kept tapping repeatedly as he waited for June to come out of school.
He looked up at the giant clock on the outside of the school building, impatiently counting down the minutes, hell even the seconds till all the children came flooding out. A couple of parents would stare at him in intimidation. They, despite not knowing that he was a local mass murderer, we’re still very much afraid of him. I mean who wouldn’t be when a 6 foot 7 tall man who barely spoke a word to you or anybody else aside from his daughter, who had hair covering a majority of his chiseled face and had piercing blue eyes, was standing right next to you.
Michael wasn’t quite fond of having his face being shown either. He much preferred to have it hidden behind either one of his masks, however he can’t risk that chance of being caught. God knows what Dr Loomis and the cops would do to his kid if they arrested and/or killed him. And there was another reason why he kept his mask off in public. He loved seeing the cute little smile on June’s face when she saw him smile at her.
Michael’s mind began to wander on what he and June would do after school together. Would they go out for ice cream? Maybe play at the park? Whatever he had settled on, it was interrupted by the loud ringing of the school bell telling the kids it was time to go home.
Due to his height, he could easily see the kids coming out and was able to pick out June from the rest of them. However he wasn’t able to see her this time, it was hard to miss her with her long and wavy brown locks that came down to her ankles. Michael squinted his eyes to see if she was somewhere in the back amongst the crowd of little children running to their parents or the school bus, but she was nowhere to be seen.
Michael’s blood began to rush, worried that something might have happened to her that the school didn’t tell him about. He began to press forward towards the building before his ears picked up the little pitter-patter of tiny shoes on the ground.
“Papa!” A soft voice called out to him.
Michael looked up at the stairs, and rushing out the large doors came June, a piece of paper in her tiny hand. When she saw him, her face beamed happily, her taking a giant leap off the stairs and into the air.
Michael snapped out of his worried daze and held his arms out to catch her, the tiny girl landing in his large, muscular arms. June happily threw her arms around him in a hug, and nuzzled her face into his. “Papa! Papa!!” She cheered, covering his face in kisses.
Michael breathed out a sigh of relief before smiling at her, pushing the hair out her face. “Hello pumpkin.” He said softly. “How was school?”
June wiggled out of his arms and landed on the ground, jumping up and down happily. “It was good! Oh here here here!” She said, her handing him the paper she had in her hands.
Michael tried to grab it but she was so hyper that it shook before he really could get a hold of it. He chuckled before managing to grab it from her and looked at it. “What is it sweetheart?” He asked, tilting it to get a better look.
What was on the now slightly crumpled piece of paper was a drawing of what looked like him, Jason, herself and a very…very crudely drawn Freddy with the words “stinky pepperoni man” scribbled on it. Right next to them was their home and a couple of flowers, some grass, and the sun. In the corner was some sort of mysterious red stain.
“I drew this today! It's me, you and bubba Jason! Oh and Freddy’s there too I guess.” She murmured, her messing with her feet. “I’m mad at Stu, he got ketchup on it during lunch…”
Michael smiled. The drawing melted his heart, he looked on the back and saw that she had written “my family” on it. It made him happy that, even though she was adopted, and she knew that she was, that she sees them all as her family. He folded up the paper and put it in the pack pocket of his coveralls. He kneeled down to be at her height before taking her in a big hug, almost lifting her off the ground. “I love it,pumpkin. Thank you.”
June gasped out happily, throwing her arms around his neck to hug him back. Michael let her go and stood up, and grabbed her hand. They began to walk back to their home.
“So what are we going to do today papa?”
Michael hummed, looking up at the sky and then down at her. “Well I was thinking we can take the car and drive to the ice cream place?”
Ice cream? June love, love, LOVES ice cream. She frantically shook her head yes, clapping her hands in agreement. “Yes! Yes we gotta go!”
Michael laughed, swinging her arm as they walked. “Alright, let’s go eat then, you can get all the toppings you want.” He instantly regretted saying that. June is a hyper child and knowing her, she’d pile her ice cream in rainbow and chocolate sprinkles, gummy bears and whatever sweet treats that really shouldn’t be used as ice cream toppings, her little heart desires, but he couldn’t resist her. When she was left at his doorsteps as a baby, she changed his life for the better. He didn’t mind spoiling her, but not too much.
Hours later, Michael was laying down on the old, rundown, paisley yellow couch with June asleep on his chest, her snoring softly. The tv was on, playing whatever show she liked. He really couldn’t understand the concept of this young singer who hides her identity by just putting on a blonde wig and her and her friends' shenanigans and why this appealed to June, but it made her happy and that’s all that mattered to him.
Jason was off to the side, drinking a cup of hot chocolate through his mask, looking at the both of them all cheerfully, his energy radiating off the living room walls that, if you turned off the lights, Jason would be beaming head to toe like a lantern.
Freddy walked in, him groaning and rubbing his eye, him poking Jason in the shoulder. “Jason, stop it.” He grumbled, him walking to the couch that Michael and June were on and reached for the remote.
Michael slapped his hand away and shot a deathly glare up at him. “June’s show is on. Don’t you dare change that channel.”
Freddy hissed, shaking his hand which was now more red than it normally was. “What’s the big fuckin deal? She’s asleep and it’s just stupid ass Hannah Montana!”
Michael’s glare grew more intense, him slowly sitting up while holding a sleeping June closer to his chest so she wouldn’t fall. “I said, don’t. Touch. The God damn. Remote.” He hissed, violence backing up his words.
Freddy held his hands up in defense and scoffed, backing up. “Alright fine geez, I’ll watch tv in the kitchen then, good fuckin’ greif.” He muttered, making his way to the kitchen.
Michael rolled his eyes in annoyance and laid back down slowly so as to not wake up June. Lo and behold, she was miraculously still asleep, rubbing her eyes as she slept.
Michael flashed a warm smile down at her before leaning over and planting a kiss on the top of her head.
Jason looked back over to the two before getting up and reaching into a small closet, digging through it before pulling out a small blue blanket. He waddled over as quietly as possible and laid the blanket over June and gave her a pat on her head, his hand ten times the size of her head.
Michael smiled and then turned his attention back to the tv. Before he had realized it the sun was down, and the Disney channel was playing whatever original movie that was causing a whole scene in her school. Teenagers, BLEGH! Dancing and singing about basketball, romance and whatever, He wasn’t paying attention. To be honest, he’d rather be watching the little mermaid, but the songs were catchy.
Michael let out a loud, very audible yawn before covering his mouth instantly and looked down at June, who again, was somehow still asleep through all the loud noise that went on. Jason was asleep on the couch behind him and using Freddy as some sort of teddy bear. Freddy was probably drunk off his ass to really care, but he was definitely going to feel his bones being crushed in the morning.
Michael huffed out and smiled at them all. He didn’t want to admit it to Freddy or Jason, but he was very glad that he had those two around him. The more he thought about the drawing June made for him of them as a family, the more he admitted that they were indeed a family. Originally, they were just there for hiding, though Freddy could go in and out of the dream realm as much as he pleases, he didn’t really need to hide, but I guess he stayed for whatever reason. Still, he needs to pay his rent. When June arrived, however, they did see themselves slowly becoming closer. They really were becoming a family.
June yawned, rolling over some, which snapped Michael out of his thoughts. He looked down at her and smiled, rubbing her cheek with his finger and moving her hair out of her face. He began to hum as he got up slowly from the couch and snuck past the other two and made his way up the stairs to June’s room. He began to navigate the room in the dark, making his way through stuffed toys and paper and crayons laid across the floor. He managed to find her bed, him pulling back the blanket and placing her in the sheets, laying her head on a pillow. He tucked her in blankets and laid under her arm a purple plush bunny.
June gently stirred about before a smile crept on her face in sleep.
Michael had leaned over and gave her a kiss on her head one last time before backing up and switching on a mushroom shaped night light that illuminated the room in a soft blue glow. “Goodnight Pumpkin. I love you.” He whispered, slowly closing the door behind him.
June rubbed her eyes, curling up in a ball under the blanket and held her bunny closer to her.
“I wuv..you too papa.”

THEMES: Single Parent, Jungkook x Fem!Reader, self insert, Smut will be included in a later chapter
MASTERLIST || PREVIOUS||  NEXT
The cup in your hands was starting to burn the palm of your hand but you didn't care it was the only thing making you stay in place while your daughter and Jungkook were cooking together. It was a sight you never thought you would see, watching them together was so odd to you right now. Jungkook had come around early that morning as he promised and he was making everyone breakfast, the way he used to when he stayed over here that summer you spent together. Memories of eating out on the balcony came flooding back to you, being dressed in nothing but one of his oversized t-shirts whole he walked around in nothing but a pair of shorts.
"Mum look!" A plate was placed down in front of you with Minnie Mouse pancakes with blueberries for eyes making you snap away from your daydream.
"Thanks," You whispered slowly putting down the mug of hot chocolate and looking at your daughter who couldn't help but smile at you with how happy she was. The night before she'd done nothing but go on about how happy Jungkook made her when he'd only been around for a short period of time.
"Daddy made them," Jungkook looked over his shoulder to glance at you and you thanked him for it by sending him a small smile. The two of you hadn't spoken about what this all meant with his daughter, if he would be seeing her more often or if you could even risk that. The thought of your daughter's life being public scared you too much. Taking a knife and fork you started to eat the pancake while trying to avoid looking at Jungkook it felt weird to have him standing there after all this time. Whenever you did catch a glance at him it just made you feel like you were in some kind of parallel universe where he'd known about the pregnancy and decided to stick around.
"Are we allowed to go on all of the rides?!" Areum asked excitedly as she ate her pancake, you hummed sipping on the drink you had in your hand.
"Of course, I'm sure your dad won't mind riding on some of them with you." You were deathly afraid of heights so there was no way you would have been able to go on many of them alone with her. One of the reasons you hadn't taken her to one was because you didn't want to be the killjoy by not making her go on the big rides.
"I'd love to, maybe we can force your mum to get onto some of the rides." Jungkook winked at you sitting down next to you and smirking as he reached forward to grab the syrup at the same time as you and your hands touched. A jolt ran up your hand so you pulled away and acted as though nothing had happened as though you hadn't felt anything. Areum smiled at you watching as got up from the table to go and clean the kitchen pretending you weren't just trying to get away from Jungkook.
"Mum hasn't been on any rides except the small ones," Areum told him as she shoved some of the pancakes into her mouth. The conversation of how to be a lady at the dinner table going out of her mind in an instant, Jungkook chuckled leaning down to whisper to her but you could still hear him speaking to her,
"I bet I can get her into the Ferris wheel," With a small wink at your daughter he went back to his breakfast while you stared down into the bubbles trying to stop your mind from going to the place it shouldn't. It felt normal to have him there at the breakfast table even though it wasn't an everyday occurrence.
"She won't, she's scared of them." Your hands gripped onto the plate under the water as you began to wash it trying to distract yourself from the conversation they way having.
"Not if I'm up there with her," The plate slipped from your hand and into the water causing water to splash everywhere, Jungkook looked at you and you washed it quickly clearing your throat as you turned to your daughter.
"Going to shower, watch Areum." You mumbled making your way out of the room quickly so you wouldn't have to listen to this conversation for much longer, it was too much to hear right now. Jungkook was probably just trying to be playful with his little girl but all you could picture was the time you were on the Ferris wheel together.
Tumblr media
"The candyfloss is a bad idea," You laughed watching as Jungkook bought Areum a bag of cotton candy and handed it to her, she began ripping the bag open to get into it.
"No, it's not! It's mine!" You stared at her as she yelled at both of you excitedly jumping up and down on the spot as she tried to eat it as quickly as possible. The thought of your daughter hyped up on too much sugar sent a shiver down your spine.
"If she gets hyper you're staying overnight to watch her." You teased him pushing him softly as he rushed over to pick Areum up and throw her over his shoulder, you'd only just gotten to the funfair and you were already having more fun now than you'd had in the last four years of Jungkook being gone. You'd never seen Areum smile so much and you hadn't felt this happy in such a long time, your cheeks were starting to hurt from smiling so much. For a moment it felt nice to just forget about the fact that Jungkook hadn't been around and that he'd been here the whole time.
"What shall we go on first? The Carousel?" You asked her as you rushed over to get next to her and Jungkook trying to keep up with them since they were both so quick. Jungkook was wearing a baseball cap with some sunglasses to hide most of his face since neither of you wanted to be surrounded by fans. He was also wearing a large jacket to hide his tattoos but his hands were still on display, luckily everyone was too busy paying attention to their own fun times to notice his hands.
"The carousel, I wanna ride the horses!" Areum yelled as the sugar began to take over her body, Jungkook chuckled putting her back down onto the floor where she linked hands with both of you and began swinging them back and forth until you got to the line.
"I want the one that pulls the carriage, you and dad can sit together while I ride! It'll be like a fairytale." You nodded at her bending down to her level and straightening her top she was wearing a white Disney princess shirt with a pair of jeans that she'd picked out.
"Okay baby but remember the rules, you have to wait for us to get off the ride with you, alright?" She nodded along with you promising you that she would abide by the rules you always made when you went out together. It was just so she didn't get lost or taken while you were out together.
A teenage girl frowned staring at Jungkook as she stood across the line from the carousel, she didn't think it was him just that it was a weird lookalike.
"What?" Her friend questioned turning to see what she was looking at but the girl shook her head thinking it was just the trick of the light or something.
"That guy...doesn't he look like Jungkook? They say there are always five people in the world that look like you..." She couldn't tell much because of the shades and the hat but it looked an awful lot like him, she took out her phone and went onto Weverse to try and see if she could tell it was him.
"He put out this morning that he and Namjoon and fishing, see..." They stared down at the selfie of Namjoon and Jungkook together out on a lake fishing together, but the girl took a photo of the man that looked an awful lot like Jungkook and began tweeting it out to her friends to see if they thought he looked like Jungkook as well.
Tumblr media
The day continued on and all of you were going on the small rides trying to avoid the larger ones for as long as possible but Areum was making her way towards the Ferris Wheel.
"What about getting dad to win you a teddy?" You questioned as you looked at Areum, she turned to look at the shooting game that was in front of you. The aim of the game was to get ten clown faces down within a certain amount of time.
"I want the pink bunny, daddy, come on," Areum whispered tugging on Jungkook's sleeve as you walked over to the stall, paying the man behind the counter for one round. The fake guns were filled with some stones that would hit the moving clowns and potentially knock them down if Jungkook was any good at the game. If he was anything like you remembered he would be good at everything he put his mind to.
"Let's get it," He chuckled as Areum stood in your arms, both of you watching him closely as you waited for him to start shooting the clowns.
He missed all of them but two and groaned as he looked down at the pouting Areum, she wasn't spoilt but she was just upset her dad couldn't do it.
"Let me go," You challenge letting Areum go stand with Jungkook as you paid for another round. Aiming the gun at the bottom row and started to shot as soon as the music began to play. The usual carnival music that played over and over again but you did it, hitting all ten clowns and being able to win two teddies.
"Pick one baby," You whispered to Areum who asked for the small pink rabbit she'd had her eye on in the start.
"Your turn to pick," You winked at Jungkook as you laughed softly, he had his bottom lip out shaking his head at you.
"My turn," He challenged clicking his neck as if that was going to help him on winning the next round.
Tumblr media
The games continued on until Jungkook finally won a round of the game and could give both you and Areum a stuffed animal. You thought that it was sweet that he was trying to impress Areum but if you'd been paying attention you would have noticed it was the both of you he was trying to impress.
"You're scared?" Jungkook questioned as he looked at you, you were next in line to get into one of the carriages for the Ferris Wheel they'd both convinced you it wouldn't be the same without you there.
"I'm scared of heights, you know that." You whined at him as Areum rushed over to the Ferris Wheel, it was one of the ones that were like small glass cages. The ride would stop whenever someone got to the top giving them some time to look around at the scenery which was even more terrifying to you.
"I know, I remember getting you to go to the top of the Effiel Tower with me. But you did it...We're right here for you," His hand entangled with yours naturally and the same jolt you felt that morning was back only this time you didn't pull away from him. You squeezed his hand as a silent thank you and stepped into the ride with him and Areum. She sat across from you so she could have a seat for herself and her stuffed animals she'd gotten. A pink rabbit and then a large blue turtle that Jungkook had won for her.
"Hold on Areum," Jungkook said as the ride began to move, you gasped out as you inched closer to him. The ride wasn't even that high yet and you were already trying not to panic about the thought of being that high from the ground.
Tumblr media
Your carriage was the second from the top but you couldn't help but look around, Areum was sitting on the seat with her back to you and Jungkook as she stared at all of the people below you. Looking at the lights she could see around the city,
"I wonder if we'll see the Effiel Tower!" She yelled out as she continued to stare around, you on the other hand were clutching onto Jungkook for dear life. Your hands were tangled in his shirt as you held onto him tightly while looking around,
"Focus on the lights and your breathing," He whispered in your ear, his lips coming into contact with your skin making it harder to breathe and focus on what he was saying to you.
"Breathe in Y/n..." He urged you as he took your hand out of his shirt and held onto it tightly, squeezing it softly as you stared into his eyes taking in a deep breath before exhaling when he told you to. As you let your breath of the Ferris Wheel began to move and you were at the top, right across from you was the Effiel tower. Areum let out an excited squeal as she just stared it from her seat, watching it with loved filled eyes. It was one of her favourite places to go and visit.
"She really loves it here," He whispered happily as he continued to stare at his daughter, you looked up at him as you realised just how happy he was. You could see it written across his face and the look in his eyes. He looked like he did the first time he got you onto a Ferris wheel.
Tumblr media
"I told you it would be fine," He chuckled as you reached the top of the Ferris Wheel, his hands clutching onto yours as he tried to convince you to open your eyes but there was no way. If you opened your eyes you knew for a fact you would pass out and never be able to do anything like this again,
"If you open your eyes I'll win you another teddy," He whispered trying to convince you but nothing on this planet or the next would be able to get you to open your eyes.
"I'll give you anything you want," He urged but you continued to keep your eyes screwed shut. Jungkook smirked to himself as he leant closer to you, his breath catching on your face as he inched closer and closer until your lips finally touched. Taking in a deep breath through your nose you smiled against his lips, wrapping your arms around his neck as he finally kissed you for the first time all night. He wrapped his arms around your waist as he pulled you closer to him on the seat, reaching up to cup your face as he pulled away. Your eyes flickered open as you stared into his giant doe-like eyes,
"See I told you the view would be worth it if you opened your eyes," But neither of you were looking around at the view from the Ferris Wheel you were staring at one another as the giant machine began to move again.
As second dates go it was one of the best you'd ever had but sitting up here with him brought it all back to you and to him too. There wasn't a day that went by, back home when he didn't think of you and what you were doing. You were like a record that constantly played over and over in his mind.
Tumblr media
"What?" He chuckled when he caught you staring at him. His heart thumped as he locked eyes with you. A part of you wanted to reach up and kiss him like how you had in the memory but another part of you knew it would be wrong. You were seeing someone else and Areum was right in front of you if she was to see you kissing her father it could send all of the wrong kind of message.
"Nothing I was just trying to concentrate on my breathing." You lied turning to look at Areum who was now speaking to her stuffed animals in French. Trying to teach them the days of the week as you tried to get your mind out of the kiss.
Tumblr media
It was pitch black outside by now, after the Ferris wheel both Jungkook and Areum had been able to convince you to go on a few more "Scary" rides that weren't scary at all. Just the thought of the heights was crawling into your mind. Then there was the one you'd just gotten off of. It was a small "horror" ride where you sat in a boat and went around being scared by different things. It hadn't scared either of them but somehow it had managed to make you jump out of your skin no matter what happened.
"You're evil, did you know that?" You looked behind you to see Jungkook cradling Areum who was sound asleep in his arms holding onto the stuffed animals both of you had won for her. You shook your head as Jungkook started laughing.
"You never used to be scared of everything! We used to watch horror movies all of the time." He laughed as he dumped some rubbish into a nearby bin,
"Newsflash, I only watched those movies so I could cuddle up to you!" You yelled playfully as you stared at your sleeping daughter, you grew worried as you realised he would have to carry her all the way back to the shop like this.
"Do you want me to get a cab?" You whispered standing beside him and looking down at her as she snored in her sleep squeezing onto the toys tightly as you went to take them away.
"No, it's okay. I'll carry her." He laughed softly shifting her so she was laid comfortable in his arms and you smiled moving some of the hair from her face just staring down at her.
"She looks like you when you used to fall asleep like this on me, it's quite cute." He chuckled walking across the road with you as you headed in the direction towards the shop, you ignored the cute comment as you walked in silence. It was a comfortable silence between you both as you enjoyed the sounds of the city.
Tumblr media
Areum was laid in her bed while you made Jungkook some Hot chocolates downstairs in the shop so you could talk about Areum where she couldn't wake up and hear you. The adults needed their space to talk about things now. Jungkook started with the hardest subject on his mind,
"So about David," You rolled your eyes sliding Jungkook his drink and going over to the register to check the delivery for tomorrow flicking through the clipboard as you tried to brush off his comment.
"What about him?" You questioned not really wanting to talk about it but you knew the subject wasn't going to get dropped any time soon, Jungkook wanted to know who was going to be around his daughter.
"Do you love him?" You looked at the piece of paper in your hand pretending to read it while you stalled trying to think of something to say in response to that. Jungkook stared at you as he thought of how to bring up something about David, there was no easier way to put it than the simple version,
"I don't like him." He told you as he sipped on his drink you slammed the clipboard down onto the counter as you snapped angrily at Jungkook,
"And I care why?" You had no idea where the anger was coming from, you had no reason to be this angry over a comment made about David.
"I don't want him around my daughter, there's something about him Y/n-" You shook your head at him while you scoffed as if he'd been around long enough to come up with some kind of conclusion on the man you were dating.
"You've not even been back five minutes and you're already barking orders at me about your daughter. We made it four years without you Jungkook, I'm sure I can go the rest of her life." You stormed out from behind the counter and made your way over to the door of the shop opening it for him,
"I want you to leave, I didn't invite you here to dictate what happens in her life or mine," You couldn't look at him as you told him all of this.
"I didn't know she was alive until now I think I have a reason to decide who comes in and out of her life. She's not a train station who needs people walking in and out all of the time!" The anger inside of him was starting to show as he stood up, turning red in the face as he began to raise his voice at you like you were to him.
"In and out? You make me sound like I'm sleeping around!" You yelled but he scoffed at the statement going back to something Areum had said about David staying over sometimes. You shut the door as soon as he scoffed at you wanting to know what else he had to say.
"She already knows he stays the nights! He knows how to make her breakfast, a shitty one at that," David reached the door watching you both for a second to see what was going on. It seemed as thought Jungkook was nitpicking at reasons as to why David shouldn't be around but there was honestly something he didn't like.
"There's something about him Y/n, I don't like it." You stared at him waiting for some kind of reason to come out of him, Jungkook had always had a thing for this sort of stuff though and you knew that. His gut was something you always could follow. You'd relied on it before and it turned out to be true but that didn't mean it was right now....Right?
"Jungkook-" You tried to tell him you could talk it over but the door banged open and David was standing there turning red in the face with anger as he stared at Jungkook.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?! Coming around here and barking orders at Y/n?!" You span around trying to get David to calm down but he began pushing past you to get to Jungkook who only kept antagonising him by pulling faces at him or scoffing at the fact that you could push him away.
"David please, there's no need for this!" You yelled pushing him a little too hard that he knocked into the counter behind him. As you went to go over and tell Jungkook to go upstairs David scoffed at the way you were handling things,
"I can't believe you're siding with some- With some fucking loser who left you when you were pregnant!" You froze in place as he called Jungkook a loser, you'd never been a violent person but as soon as someone disrespected Jungkook you wanted to flip your shit. That was the father of our daughter if he was disrespecting Jungkook who was in some kind of way disrespecting Areum and you couldn't stand for either of those things. Turning on your heels to face David you went to say something when Jungkook moved past you to get closer and threw the first punch at David. Hitting him in the jaw and knocking his face to the side as he grunted loudly before getting the next insult ready.
"You're a fucking loser, imagine getting a girl pregnant and leaving her," Jungkook threw another punch at David in the nose this time while you kept trying to get into the middle of them to stop them from fighting like children.
David seemed to get the upper hand and punched Jungkook in the jaw knocking him down against the floor hitting a bookshelf on the way down and you almost screamed seeing some blood fall from his eyebrow. A small cut making him bleed a little, David leant down gripping onto the shirt Jungkook was ready as he pulled his fist back.
"ENOUGH!" You shouted out stepping in front of Jungkook so that David couldn't continue his assault on him but David was turning red in the face as you stood in the way to defend him of all people.
"I am not some toy you fight over in the playpen!" You said to him as you stared into his eyes David spat blood out onto the floor as he stared back at you going to speak as he wiped his bloodied mouth.
"Tell him to leave or I'm going to-"
"Then leave!" Your voice cut him off as you stared into his eyes wasting no time on him, if he was going to act like a child then you were going to treat him like one it was as simple as that. You didn't want someone like him being around your daughter.
"But we-"
"We? We are nothing! Not if that's how you treat the father of my daughter, get out." You stood your ground until he was out of the shop, once he was gone you locked the door and turned to get a better look at Jungkook. There was a small gash just above his eyebrow that would be easily taken care of with a home first aid box and some painkillers.
"I'll clean you up, I have a first aid kit in the apartment upstairs." You whispered, bending down to help him up from the floor as you took him towards the staircase.
"I've never had a woman defend my honour before, it was nice." Jungkook laughed as you applied some butterfly stitches to the cut above his eyebrow, it was nothing major but you needed to patch it up. He'd hissed when you'd applied some of the solution from the kit to clean it with beforehand.
"I never knew he was such a cunt," You mumbled sitting down in front of Jungkook, you were sitting on the small coffee table in front of the sofa he was on. He could tell how upset you were over the guy and he sighed looking at you and reaching out his hand as he held onto your wrist to get your attention.
"You'll find someone who will treat you and Arehum like royalty. You deserve that," You stared into his eyes and wished it was him, but the way he was talking made it sound like he knew it wasn't him and never would be.
"Mummy?" You cleared your throat as you heard Arehums voice come from behind you, you turned to look over your shoulder at her,
"Yes, sweetie?" Her hands were clutching the turtle that Jungkook hadn't won for you back when he first met you. She had tears streaming down her cheeks as she whimpered out,
"Nightmare?" You questioned as she nodded as she sniffled out.
"Can you and daddy read me something?" Glancing back at Jungkook you waited for him to give her the answer, you didn't mind him reading to her with you. You adored that they were getting so close as a father and daughter, it almost made it feel like Jungkook was a real person instead of the famous singer everyone else knew him to be.
"Sure thing, which story?" He questioned following after Areuhm who went hunting for the perfect book for you both to read to her that night while you cleaned up and thought back on what Jungkook had said. 'You'll find someone who will treat you and Arehum like royalty. You deserve that' did that mean he didn't want it to be him? Did he not return the same feelings for you that you had for him? If he didn't want was the big fight for with David...Though you guess that did save you a bunch of wasted time down the line.

One Piece Chapter 1027 - Initial Thoughts
Tumblr media
Okay we have returned, 2 more commanders have fallen and Luffy has returned into the fight proper now. But the chapter title is a concerning one
'An Unbelievable Disaster'
but for who? Let's find out
Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the Official Release
Haha Roger, little scoundrel. Wonder if we will get any young Roger flashbacks in the future
Carrot is back in centre frame, hugging Neko after defeating Perospero
Neko being sweet in warning her about the moonlight, I mean Carrot did say she was able to control it in WCI
Must really be a moment for Momo and Yamato too, we've seen the heavens part, we've had our freakout from the clash of kings, but this is the first time for them, the wave of emotions they must be going through
The clash is really doing a number on the lower floors too, I have continually warned you all of this island's structural integrity, roof ain't made for fighting
Yamato finally feels the effects of Thunder Bagua, despite shielding themselves from it. So I'd like people who were trying to rank Zoro below Yamato to kindly take the L because Yamato didn't scar Kaido
Back to the bickering for Luffy and Momo, Yamato telling him to help Momo, which is a solid plan still despite Momo's protests
Kaido isn't just gonna let this plan happen though and goes for Momo - who is still trying to will himself to fly - and Yamato
Seeing Kaido has Momo invoke Kin'emon and Kiku for strength, which is a bit heartbreaking since they're either dead or near-death atm
Yamato blocks the first attack and then Luffy wraps around Kaido to halt him
Luffy's little smile, of course everyone knows that Luffy wants Kaido to himself
Momo takes the leap, but he cannot steer and thus is plummeting
Luckily Yamato is a Dragon Tutorial NPC, telling Momo the mechanics of 'flying', like Geppo is more kicking the air, Dragons are simply climbing clouds
Momo's euphoria to flying is sweet too, given how he was deathly afraid of heights about 2 minutes ago
But rubble from the island is falling on them, so Yamato has to bat them away
The underneath is crumbling, which could indeed be a sign that Kaido is weakening, but it could also be a sign that the island's integrity is reaching its limits, also I still like my theory last week that Onigashima was the original capital, the bedrock would be unstable if it was lifted away before
Momo tries to push the island away, but Yamato points out how it's futile; the Flower Capital is in sight
I wonder if that's a normal 5 minutes of a Frieza 5 minutes?
Yamato suggests using Momo's fire clouds, but Momo doesn't feel like he's at that level yet, still questioning whether he has all of Kaido's powers
Alright so you can't just drop it there either it seems, Onigashima has enough explosives to basically nuke the capital in fallout, got a bit of Alabasta references here maybe? Blow it up in the sky
Since they don't want Kaido to run out of energy too, Momo suggests stopping Luffy, but gets bonked for being daft
'Even though he can barely stand'? Not sure about that Yamato he had a big lunch while you were fighting Kaido
But it's right not to tell him yet, if a solution is found there's no point, plus one will bet that Kaido will tell him if he gets desperate
Meanwhile on the performance floor though, King has gone in a slashing fit
KNIFE WINGS!
Zoro's blocked it but he's also been flung quite a way away
Safe hands by Franky
Zoro ain't asking for help when he scarred a Yonko, besides he should be teaming with Sanji at this point
Sanji of whom we don't see in this chapter, just Queen bickering with King
Ah okay so King is having a fit because Zoro cut his mask
King charges at Zoro again, hoping to dump him off the Island, but Zoro corrects himself with a new attack 'Clear Lance/Sky Tanuki'
Yeah Zoro would much rather die by the blade than plummet, though King's not exactly in a compliant mood
Though, you only see a tiny bit of his forehead, dunno why he's throwing such a hissy over that? He'll probably get a bunch of fangirls when his full face is revealed anyway
So this was an eventful one, starting strong with Luffy and Kaido setting a 1v1 we shifted over to Momo. As expected, Yamato is perfect for guiding Momo through his dragon powers. I didn't expect Onigashima to be loaded with enough explosives to be a bomb though, suppose it makes sense but it is adding some extra urgency.
We had some Neko and Carrot stuff at the start but not a lot, I hope this does mean plans for Carrot, it also may be a contrast to Inu who is without support and Orochi nearby.
Our main focus looks to shift to Zoro vs King, bit sad it's focusing on a singles fight (for now maybe) because I wanted Zoro and Sanji to fight together to win, but alas we will get some personal time with King to show off his race's design and capabilities. Wonder if he looks similar to someone else we know?

Bend and Not Break - Ch 2: A Mission
Read here on AO3 :3
Monomon hurried as fast as she could possibly float to the palace, dodging various bugs and leaving the archive in a state of chaos. She didn’t even have time to tell anyone what was happening, just that she needed to leave and leave now. The messenger bug had delivered a letter with only a few sentences that stirred her into motion and sent her moving.
[Assassination attempt. Quirrel has been poisoned. Please hurry. - Ghost]
Poisoned? She figured they would tell her more details once she arrived, but it must have been serious. Pillbugs were notoriously resistant to toxins, at least, she knew that. She had to know since she worked with dangerous chemicals and suddenly had a baby isopod to care for. If it was public knowledge or not, she wasn’t so sure.
So either assassins figured out something strong enough to threaten the life of a pillbug, or they didn’t know and used something that her son could eventually beat on his own. She wouldn’t know until she found out.
Luckily when she arrived, the guard have known her long enough to just let her pass. The palace itself was in a state of lock-down, but she was so recognizable that she got through fast enough. To be honest, if they stopped her in any way, she wouldn’t hesitate to throw said guard around to make a path herself. The bedroom door was currently being guarded by Cloth and Ogrim, who gave her pained looks as they let her inside. They were Quirrel’s friends, and she was comforted slightly to know that they too were worried.
The atmosphere of the room was tense and thick. It was silent, save for the labored wheezing breaths of her son as he struggled to take in enough air. Ghost was sitting next to the nest, holding his trembling hand in theirs, occasionally reaching their head down to nuzzle his mask-less face. Another hand was being used to refresh a cooling enchantment on a wad of cloth, applying it to his head to hopefully bring their spouse a bit of relief. Quirrel looked to be in a bad way, trembling uncontrollably as Ghost did their best to try and soothe him, but it didn’t seem to be working. They finally turned their head after a while to look at her. She wasn’t all that shocked to see tears in the corners of their eyes, dripping long enough to leave long dark streaks on their face.
“Monomon…” Their ‘voice’ was desperate and afraid. “I don’t know what to do.”
She swallowed down a spike of emotion. It would not help here to suddenly lose herself to the rage and despair she felt at seeing her son in such a terrible state. “What happened?”
“There was an attempt on our lives. The ones involved are in the dungeon, but they had poisoned nails. One of them managed to cut him, here.” They moved a cover out of the way to reveal his bandaged side. The bandage was stained blue and faint hints of yellow. Already Monomon’s mind was racing through what could possibly match both the symptoms and the color.
“They managed to harm some civilians, none of the ones that were cut with the nails survived.”
“I see.” Her voice was soft. “Did you bring in any doctors?”
They shook their head. “No, I cannot trust any to try and not finish the job until the Knights have finished investigating.”
“A wise choice.” She floated over to lay a tentacle on the side of her son’s head. It was burning with fever and she winced. “Has he woken up at all?”
Another head shake in response.
Quirrel turned their head towards the tentacle on his head and mumbled something incoherent. She remembered the times when he had gotten sick before, when he was still so very small and fragile. She figured it was due to him being abandoned, and not getting the best start in life. She had carried him around in a makeshift pouch so that he would always know that he wasn’t going to be abandoned again. The times she sat up all night to apply a cool cloth to his head or fed him broth a teaspoon at a time drifted through her mind as she regarded her adult son, currently suffering. He made a sickly wheeze as she reached down her face to tenderly kiss his burning forehead.
She didn't know if he was aware or not, if he could tell he was surrounded by people that loved him, but she hoped he did.
“How much do you know about pillbug biology?”
Ghost seemed startled by the question. “Quite a bit, I would figure? He loves to lecture.”
“I know, but did he tell you about the resistances pillbugs have to toxins?”
They shook their head, looking back at their ill spouse with surprise.
Monomon knew that Ghost did not want or need a lecture right now, so she’ll keep it short and sweet. “Pillbugs are remarkably resistant to most things that would poison any other bug. Heavy metals, deadly plants, and even pollution. They have evolved to eek out nutrition from even the most terrible of sources and thrive where others can’t.”
“Does that mean he will be okay?” There was hope in that voice, and Monomon did her best to answer in a way to not completely squash it.
“It means that the odds are in his favor. He may come out of this by himself, but the chances increase dramatically if we somehow got a hold of a countermeasure, an antidote per-say. It will at least ease his pain.”
“How do you find such a thing? I don’t think the prisoners will want to talk.”
“Don’t worry, I have my ways. I will just need space for a lab an-”
“Whatever you want you will get.” They interrupted her. “Talk to Xena and Tiso, they are in the dungeons.”
“Good, then let us not waste any time.” She took one last moment to tuck in Quirrel a little more and try to make him more comfortable. It hurt her so much to see this, and she wanted nothing more to do that to stay here and care for him like she did so long ago. But, she had a job to do and a job that needed to be done quickly.
She turned and left, heading to the dungeons. The last thing she saw as the bedroom door shut was Ghost leaning back in to nuzzle Quirrel, practically climbing into the nest to hold him. She didn’t know of anyone safer for him to be around than his spouse, so with a renewed sense of hope and determination, she floated down the stairs. She had a job to do.
------
Quirrel didn't quite know what was happening. He had been with...someone, doing something out in the Capital. It was something important, at least, he thought it was. There were flashes of steel and colors and sounds and then a deep sickening pain before it went all black.
It had hurt. It felt like his lungs and heart were being squeezed in an iron fist. Thoughts became fractures of pain that kept shooting up to heights he didn’t think possible. Just when he thought he couldn’t stand it anymore, he had found himself somewhere else. He could feel and not feel, his numb body standing in the Fog Canyon and wondered how he got here.
Swatches of red streamed in through the mist to illuminate a facsimile of the Archives. He was standing outside of it, parts of the building floating off and smudging together. He couldn’t stare at it too long without getting a headache. He couldn’t even read the sign, the letters sliding together and twisting as he puzzled this development. There was a distinct lack of oomas and uomas, which tipped him off that something was very wrong.
He just couldn’t put a finger on it.
He would have been afraid, but there was something out there that seemed to give him strength. It was warm and heavy and he wore the feeling around him like a cloak on a cold day. It bolstered his spirit and he felt like he could face anything.
It was a strange sensation, it felt like there was a room full of people that were invisible. He tried to think on who they were, but he got only fragments of feelings and pictures that didn’t quite fit together. He figured it was best to not dwell on it, there was bound to be someone around that could help him.
He decided to just go inside. There was someone there that he knew that could tell him what was going on. He couldn’t think of the name, but he knew it was soft and green and filled him up with love. Again, faint feelings tickled the back of his mind, but he couldn’t figure out how to process it all. He approached the doors, which opened for him, and he walked inside.
The doors shut behind him and smudged together, fading off into nothing.
------
It sucked being in prison. The cricket leaned back on the stone wall in his cell, occasionally glancing at their missing arm. It stung and ached, and none of the guard or knights gave them anything for the pain. It wasn’t like he expected any, with the kingdom being lead by a monster and a traitor. By now it would just be the monster, he didn’t suspect the traitor would still be alive by now. Good riddance.
He didn’t quite know how long he was down here in his cell. Hours? He didn’t know. He was given water once and that was that, so it was impossible to hash out a timeline from that alone.
The door to the dungeons creaked open, and he couldn’t bring himself to care. It was probably time for him to die now. He knew what he was getting into when he volunteered for the mission. He just hoped that his death wouldn’t be in vain, and that his fellow bugs were closer to freedom.
His musings were interrupted when quiet footsteps approached his cell. What arrived was something he very much did not want to see.
Hollow the Kind, the sibling of the god king, stared at him with its one eye. It was deathly silent and its body was still as a statue. It was also a monster to him, the failed remnants of the previous god king’s folly. A vessel that was supposed to be completely hollow to hold the wrath of an angry goddess within that ultimately failed. It was dangerous and rarely that far away from its sibling, and for that reason he felt a pit of fear bloom in his chest. It continued to stare, narrowing its eye that seemed to look deep within his mind and soul, and he didn’t like that.
“The hell are you doing here? Here to finally kill me?”
The creature did not respond.
He was about to say something else when the vessel pulled out a key and opened the cell door. He knew he wouldn’t be able to escape, the vessel is fast and he doubted he’d get far. He still was going to make things hard on it though. Just when he was about to thrash around, it moved with frightening speed and grabbed him by the neck.
He gasped and tried to flail about, but with shackles on his legs and arm, he didn’t succeed in doing much. The prosthetic arm the creature had was hard and cold and he could feel the power in the mechanism. He couldn’t fight the grip as it pulled up to its full, terrifying height. It began to walk, and he was powerless to resist. He was being carried down a hall and it stopped in front of the door.
While Hollow was busy, Monomon was at work. She hummed to herself as she busied herself with her tools. Syringes, some vials of various components, and other odds and ends crowded the table. In a box on the floor held the nails of the assassins, now sterilized and deemed safe. The dried poison on the blades however, had been carefully extracted and reconstituted in another vial. She had taken the time to study it as her guest got ready to arrive. It was quite interesting, it was quite complex and she had trouble pin pointing the exact compounds. She could at least recognize a neurotoxin when she saw one and once again had to squash down her anger.
It was time for science.
The door to her makeshift lab opened and she turned her head just in time to see Hollow drag one of the prisoners inside. Actually, it was more like how one would scruff an unruly frog, as Hollow held him by the back of his neck so he had no chance of escape. “Let me go, you monster!” He shrieked, his single arm and pair of legs waving in the air and gaining no traction.
Hollow ignored them and all but threw the prisoner into the specially prepared chair. It was a padded chair on a swivel, with a thick metal bar on the end where someone’s legs would sit. Both that and the arms of the chair held several straps, and Hollow made quick work of immobilizing the prisoner. He grunted and wiggled against the straps, but to no avail.
“Wonderful!” Monomon clasped two of her tentacles together. “Thank you, Hollow dear, for bringing me the first of my very special guests!”
Hollow bowed his head to her politely. <”I will be outside”>, they signed.
“That won’t be necessary. There isn’t a single thing this worm can do to me,” She cheerfully responded. “This may take a while, why don’t you go up and check on your sibling? They could use a friendly face right now. Someone else can watch the prisoners for now.”
They glanced at the cricket strapped to the chair and seemed To mull over the suggestion in their head. Finally, they nodded and stepped out of the room, shutting the door behind them. The prisoner watched them leave and turned back to Monomon with a sneer.
“So, you’re going to torture me? Make me talk? Good luck, I’m not saying anything.” He huffed, having the audacity to sound bored.
“Oh no, torture has never been a suitable method of information extraction,” She informed him as she prepared a syringe. “This however, is science, pure and simple. If you don’t want to tell me what was in that poison and how to counter act it, then I’ll just have to figure it out myself. You get to be the very first volunteer to help me find that out! Isn’t that exciting?”
“You’re insane.” The cricket watched in dawning horror as she dipped the needle into the vial of poison, drawing a minuscule amount. “Why do you want to even save a traitor? He’s tainted by the monster! He’ll bring us down to ruin just like any other god and their allies!”
“Because, my dear boy.” She tapped the syringe to expel any bubbles in the glass. “That traitor, that you so call him, is my son.”
The seemed to throw the prisoner for a loop, and his mandibles that weren’t broken were open in shock.
She floated over, grabbing a little pad of cloth and alcohol, and began to clean the joint in his remaining arm where the chitin was the thinnest. It would not due to skip on protocol. “Oh yes, you and your ilk thought you were clever, trying to poison a bug that used to eat arsenic to freak out my students. You won’t be able to kill him this way, but he is suffering, and I do not like to see my son in pain.”
“Wait...wait!” The cricket tried to wiggle, but was helpless to resist as he watched the syringe come closer and closer to his arm.
“This was never to get you to talk.” She didn’t pause, plunging in the syringe and injecting it’s contents. “Like I said before, torture is useless. Science however, doesn’t lie, and I will get my answers, one way or another.”
His screams were wonderful as she pulled out some paper to take notes. What a fascinating reaction! She wondered what would happen if she added just a teeny bit of acid to the next injection.
You know, for science.
------
Tiso lounged in his chair, not bothered at all by the faint screaming that echoed through the dungeon. The person who was sitting directly in front of him, however, was very much bothered. The ladybug gulped audibly as they tested the ropes trying them to the chair. Tiso didn’t make things much better, humming to himself as he filled out some paperwork. He sat in silence with only the screams and the sound of quills on paper filling the cramped interrogation room.
“Wha…” The ladybug broke the silence, eyes wide. “What is that?!?”
“Monomon having fun.” He checked a few more boxes on the sheet.
“...The Teacher?”
“Yeah? Ya know, science lady?” Tiso gestured with the end of his quill. “Sounds like a lot of science is going on right now.”
“Am I…”
“Going to see her? Maybe.” Tiso leaned back and put his boots up on the table. “I doubt she’ll find what she’s lookin’ for with just one subject. She’s gonna need a few more for sure.”
“That’s crazy!” The ladybug switched from fear to anger. “You can’t do that to bugs! It’s evil!”
“You think that’s evil? Lemme tell you what’s evil. Evil is tryin’ to kill the two bugs who have done nothing except fix this broken fuckin’ kingdom.” Tiso leaned forward with a sneer. “You were there, you remembered how it was. The living dead roaming the streets, broken everything, a literal fuckin’ apocalypse. And they fixed it.”
“We’re trying to protect you all!” She scowled in return. “You were also there. You saw what happens when gods are in charge! How do we defend ourselves if our beloved ‘King’ were to suddenly decide to make our lives miserable just for fun? Or kill us all?”
“Because, they have friends, and family.” Tiso replied, leaning back again. “They are constantly reminded about how precious life is and how each action can impact them. The biggest one, being their spouse, that you lot tried to kill. And what do you think happens, when a god no longer has any ties to mortals anymore?”
The ladybug blinked.
“Yeah, I may not be the sharpest hammer in the tool box, but even I knew that!” Tiso huffed, feeling clever. “So you fucked up. I mean, colossally fucked up. If there was a book about the biggest fuck ups in history, you all would be on front page. “
She was silent.
“So here’s what you gottah do. You gottah fix this. You gottah tell me what you did, who told you to do it, and who else was in on it. You need to tell me everything. I can’t promise you anything except that I won’t give you to Monomon, but if you even wanna redeem yourself in the slightest, you’ll talk. And hurry the hell up, I got girlfriends to smooch.”
She took a deep breath and began to talk.

everyone on the carte blanche for the ask meme
everyone? oh boy this is gonna get long ajfhdsf
JUNO
First impression: i, like a lot of people who get into the podcast without knowing a great deal about it, was expecting at most an ambiguously bisexual angst machine with a closely-guarded heart of gold. juno being an explicitly bisexual genderqueer angst machine is perhaps the most pleasant surprise of my life. the angst machine heart of gold characters were kind of my type at the time, so i loved him right away
Impression now: every time i think about juno’s arc from depressed mess held together by bad coping mechanisms, safety pins, and a few good strong puns into someone who can talk about his feelings, feel comfortable about being happy, and recognise when he needs to change, i want to cry about it a little bit. the depth of my love for juno steel has only grown along with him
Favourite moment: juno has a lot of great one-liners and i’m still a big fan of the “on the other hand i wasn’t wearing a watch” bit and who can forget such classics as juno finally deciding to stop moping over nureyev and move on only for him to open the door to his apartment and find nureyev sitting in the dark dramatically, but honestly nothing will ever hit me harder than his sudden, pissed-off declaration of “i can’t die yet, i still have shit to do!” in promised land. god.
Idea for a story: oh i have so many and i want to write most of them so no spoilers, but juno accidentally kidnaps a baby during a carte blanche heist and shenanigans ensue
Unpopular opinion: obviously we all know he’s dummy thicc but i feel like a lot of people forget he’s an actual genius, like the stuff he notices and how he strings it together is sometimes so obscure and he’s almost always right. oh, also juno is not skinny and i will not be taking criticism on that
Favourite relationship: this is so tough because every dynamic is so good, but i think it has to be juno and rita. those two are so good! the best best friends in the world!! i’m really a sucker for any dynamic that’s ridiculously in-sync so i loved these two as soon as juno saw rita’s notes in prince of mars and went “makes perfect sense to me” (which it probably didn’t, because rita, but he trusted that she knew what she was doing which is the important part)
Favourite headcanon: this isn’t really a headcanon but i still think about how juno is (was?) deathly afraid of heights but when he heard rex glass coming he still attempted to climb out of the window. either his aversion to working with dark matters/other people in general was so strong is overrided his fear, or his office was actually on the ground floor. not sure which of these is funnier.
NUREYEV
First impression: we’ve all seen the memes about nureyev knowing juno steel for one (1) day and deciding to Risk It All by leaving him with his name, look at this Hopeless Romantic, this utter DISASTER of a homosexual. the fact the very next time we hear from nureyev (at least directly) he’s patiently waiting in juno’s dark apartment to surprise him with a heist definitely supports this image.
Impression now: even after literally being inside peter’s head, i feel like we didn’t get a real sense of who he is until man in glass, where we find out he aggressively compartmentalises everything that causes him stress. he’s also distinctly someone who’s had his heart broken before, i think, which makes those first appearances of his very strange. but it does remind me of what juno says about diamond, and how he decided to provide the trust first and wait for the trustworthiness to grow in (only to get severely hurt), and i think that’s exactly what nureyev did. i am also... very uneasy with how suspicious he’s behaving this season because obviously i want to believe he’ll sort it all out and not betray the crew but... oof
Favourite moment: the beginning of what lies beyond pt1 where he’s affectionately bullying juno into taking care of himself? cleared my crops watered my skin etc etc etc
Idea for a story: i’d love to hear more about his past as a young thief idolising buddy and vespa (i can’t actually remember if that’s canon or fanon but anyway i wanna read it!)
Unpopular opinion: i think people often cling to an image of him that more resembles his first impressions in season 1 instead of seeing the depth that we’ve been given about his character in season 3
Favourite relationship: him and juno but honestly it’s a close call between them and his budding friendship with rita. even though she learned it by accident, his name is still a point of intimacy and it’s one less secret to keep around her which has to be a weight off his shoulders, at least a little? they seem like they could be really good friends once ultrabots is out of the way. juno steel love (and also bullying) zone activates whenever they’re together
Favourite headcanon: i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again - nureyev has never done a household chore in his goddamn life. he doesn’t know the water needs to be hot when you wash dishes.
RITA
First impression: honestly i’m not sure? i don’t remember having a big awareness of her in murderous mask but i remember loving her “note-taking” in prince of mars, i thought she sounded really fun and cute
Impression now: rita is really fun and cute, she’s also an extremely hardworking and dedicated woman who had the guts to throw in with a detective fired from the force and then invest all of her time and money into helping him help people.
Favourite moment: Rita Gets A Knife. enough said
Idea for a story: i don’t know honestly! i really struggle to write rita because her thought processes are so wild and i don’t think any story i could come up with would match mega ultrabots of cyberjustice.
Unpopular opinion: this shouldn’t be unpopular because juno steel himself shares this opinion but all future-jupeter headcanons are incomplete without rita also being a huge part of their lives
Favourite relationship: rita + franny 4ever obviously.. jk it’s juno & rita have you heard rita minute 3 they’re too adorable for this world. im still Soft over their conversation at the end of soul of the people when he said he couldn’t stay in hyperion anymore but he wouldn’t leave with the carte blanche if rita wasn’t coming because he was done leaving her behind, and she threw out all her hesitations on the spot and said call the big guy. speaking of, rita & jet are a close second. instant best friends i love them.
Favourite headcanon: i think this is basically canon now but rita being literally half the height of jet is so good
JET
First impression: “haha lorge funny man puts juno in the trash”
Impression now: jet sikuliaq is one of the dearest characters to me out of anything ever. he is a huge, menacing, polite, kind, sincere man who i would very much like to give me a hug. he’s the best aro ace in outer space and while being generally very levelheaded and straightforward, also takes every opportunity to fuck with juno because it’s very easy and very hilarious to him personally. he is everything my autistic acearo ass needed and i’m so glad to have him
Favourite moment: all of them every single one. him putting juno in the trash is of course a classic and every moment jet chooses to be funny makes my heart happy, but also every piece of genuine advice he gives. i’m a particular fan though of buddy recounting her years in the lighthouse and him saying he became concerned when she didn’t come downstairs at the usual time. “you took the door off its hinges.” “i was deeply concerned.” king of understatement
Idea for a story: again no spoilers for you but..... tools of rust time loop au
Unpopular opinion: this isn’t “unpopular” as much as it is unknown but jet is buddy’s queerplatonic partner and i will keep saying it until everyone believes it
Favourite relationship: jet and buddy,,, just everything about them. the way he suspects when she’s lying, the way she makes tea for him when she expects him to drop by. the fact he comes to check on her when she is 41 seconds late to the family meeting because it’s unlike her to be late and the last time she was late for something her brain was turning to radiation soup. but most especially the way she snaps at him to stay out of her business and he said he could not because he made her promise eight years ago to never stay out of the business of her health, no matter how many times she asked. they r literally in a qpr
Favourite headcanon: i don’t think this is true but i still think it would be funny if the ruby-7 used to be painted red but when jet got it he had it painted green because he Just Really Likes Green (as evidenced by his hovercycle). it’s very funny to me.
BUDDY
First impression: it’s been a minute since i relistened to time gone by but i’m pretty sure the first thing she ever says in the podcast is sliding up to depressed accidental whiskey thief juno and say “that’ll be ten million creds,” scaring the shit out of him, so needless to say i was in love instantly.
Impression now: my love for buddy aurinko has only grown and if it sounds like i already said that in this post it’s because i did about juno and it’s appropriate because the parallels are astounding. the heart of it all gave us such depth to buddy’s internal monologue and why she always sounds like she knows exactly what to say and what that’s like and honestly will i ever be over the heart of it all as an episode? unlikely. i think i’m gonna have a little piece of it in MY heart forever.
Favourite moment: everything she’s ever said is iconic as hell i especially like “in an impressive fit of hubris i’ve decided not to prepare my words for this vow” which made me laugh out loud but once again i must give it up for her iconic “I WANT TO LIVE” moment. honourable mentions to her taking rita out for ice cream and giving juno shooting lessons while she’s in her actual wedding gown. i love her
Idea for a story: buddy and vespa as sun/moon dieties.... that’s all
Unpopular opinion: stop drawing her with a fancy high-tech eye like the theia!! it canonically looks like garbage and it’s described in detail, please, i’m dying, also don’t minimise her scars you bastards
Favourite relationship: buddy and vespa invented romantic love and the entire carte blanche crew’s relationship to her is great but you know by now i’m a slut for buddy & jet out-of-this-world queerplatonic partners. the way she checks in on him during tools of rust to make sure he’s not relapsing and he comes to find her when she is 41 seconds late in the heart of it all to make sure she’s not having a heart problem!! it’s the trust,, the devotion,, the mortifying ordeal of being known
Favourite headcanon: she can sing. absolutely tears it up at karaoke. i’m right
VESPA
First impression: knife lesbian goes STAB. she will heal your wounds but she will be threatening to give you more the whole time
Impression now: she is extremely strong, heart-rendingly tender, and despite being in the older half of the carte blanche crew somehow has unmistakable little sister energy which makes her downright hilarious. i’m so glad she got to marry buddy and they’re official space wives now they’re so good for each other
Favourite moment: both from shadows in the ship, either “GUN!!” “KNIFE?!” (iconic) or when she clocks the dark matters drone pretending to be juno because it called her crazy and juno wouldn’t call her crazy. i’m always a sucker for “shapeshifter fails to fool mark because they Know Each Other Too Well” and it was just *chefs kiss* so good
Idea for a story: i really want to write something about when she was first staying at the lighthouse with buddy post-reunion, and getting to know jet and stuff. i think it would be cute
Unpopular opinion: i know vespa doesn’t canonically have lots of scarring but people who don’t draw her with scarring? cowards.
Favourite relationship: once again, although buddy and vespa invented romantic love, i just love the dynamic between vespa and juno so much. they’ve come so far with each other and their weird sibling dynamic gives me life. at the end of what lies beyond when juno says “we’re not gonna kill her, vespa” and instead of sounding full of Rage and Suspicion she’s like “whyyy notttt?” and he’s like “because i said so!” and that’s just good enough for her even if she’s a bit grumpy about it. i love it.
this took.. a hot minute to do! jshkfjsdgsa thank you dyl ily <3

I really love thinking about the repercussions of what happened to the 7 Birds so I wanted to write a Thing^tm. Sorry if this sucks, I have no memory of writing half of it.
Taako: He’s constantly writing the names of his crew down any chance he gets. If you give Taako a piece of paper eventually you’ll see him writing, Lup, Barry, Lucretia, Merle, Magnus, Davenport. The word “who?” haunts him. He doesn’t like heights. ESPECIALLY when it’s just him and Barry. He always leaves KrebStar at home when he visits Barry and Lup. They pretend not to notice, they do. He hates the smell of garlic and berries. He hasn't made chicken since that day. Everyone ends up in therapy but Taako endures strenuous physical therapy. Fuck that washing machine dudes. Sometimes he forgets he’s even wearing glamour. Kravitz once walked into a room to find Taako standing over shards of glass, he looked terrified. It takes a long time for him to stop worrying when he cooks for his friends, it takes even longer for him to stay calm when his friends get sick. He’d never say it aloud but he’s so grateful that his sister is already dead. She can’t get sick. He, Merle, and Davenport go hiking every summer. He used to pick up pretty rocks at the side of the trail. He doesn't do that anymore.
Lup: She’s deathly claustrophobic. She doesn’t like being unable to speak, or hear, or see. One time she did one of those sensory deprivation tank things with Lucretia. She came out ten minutes in and spent the rest of the time in the lobby, waiting for Lucretia, trying not to cry. She doesn’t let people walk behind her. One time, on a reaper mission, Kravitz tried to get her attention by poking her in the back with the blunt part of his scythe. She nearly killed him with a sixth level fireball. If she thinks about it too long, she can still feel the knife piercing her, she can feel the poison burning through her veins.
 She doesn’t like it when Barry gets near fire. If Lup goes to an event wearing gloves, they’re off before she leaves the house.
Barry: Barry’s scared of the dark. He’s always been scared of the dark but now he can hardly take it. When a reaper mission takes them into a cave Kravitz tries to give him an advance. He holds onto Lup the entire time. He doesn’t like gold coins. Usually, it’s not too bad if he doesn’t think about it, but one time he and Magnus were out and Magnus owed him a GP. He sat outside the bar they were at just staring at it. Later that night, Magnus came out worried. What he said was, “Barry? It’s getting dark.” But what Barry heard was, “Your name is Barry Bluejeans and you're afraid of the dark” He had to lean on Magnus walking home that night. He used to be a pretty chill guy when it came to death. He accepted that it was just a thing that happened. Now he’s terrified of it. When fantasy Wheel of Fortune started, The Birds decided to check it out. It didn’t stay on for more than 5 minutes. Lucas’s school has a big bell that rings at noon each day. The first time Barry did a lecture there and the bell rang, he walked off of campus without another word.
Magnus: He always has a vase of lavenders in his home. He would never admit it but sometimes he just closes his eyes and takes the smell in. If he tries hard enough it almost feels like he’s in the Hammer & Tongs. Sometimes, when he’s home alone, he swears to Istus that he can hear Julia laughing, calling him for him to check out a project. There’s never anything there when he follows the noise. A few years after The Day of Story and Song, Magnus took Angus to see the races in Goldcliff. They were in a VIP spectators box (one of the perks of being friends with the owners) and when the race started, along with the normal explosive sounds of the battlewagons peeling off, the box shook. Magnus grabbed Angus and tried to shield him from- nothing. He had to get some air. Lord Artemis Sterling invited him to dinner once. He had these fancy, gold, chalices. Magnus didn’t drink a thing.
Lucretia: She used to be the most reserved of the Birds now she’s almost clingy, she doesn’t do alone time anymore. One time Taako caught her staring at her face in a mirror. He sighed and dropped his glamour. He leaned against her and whispered, “You’re still the second-best looking, don’t worry.” She leaves excessive reminders that would be infuriating if the others didn’t get it. She keeps a scrapbook (something that she would never admit too because the only thing lamer than keeping a diary is keeping a scrapbook) just in case. Barry found it once. She was mortified but he just quietly flipped through it, smiling as he did. The Birds have a strict “no staff unless it looks like something else” policy because prolonged exposure, even if you can resist the thrall, to a Grand Relic is no joke.
Merle: It might be silly but, he doesn’t really like getting handed things. He’s moved on from the incident itself, he forgave Kravitz the moment he remembered how too but… The idea of someone being able to do it again makes him sick. The name John became taboo, even more so around Merle. Merle hates that. He likes the name John. If he was young enough to have another kid, he’d probably name them John just to spite those people. He and Dav had to find a new game to play. Dav wasn’t even finished suggesting chess before Merle shut down the idea. It just didn’t feel right. There’s a rumor around Bottlenose Cove about the Eral. They say he talks to himself as he watches the sunset. When confronted with this, Merle just laughs and says it’s just his way of de-stressing. He checks in on Sloane and Hurley constantly. They hold no grudges, of course, but Merle doesn’t think he’ll ever fully be able to forgive that mistake.
Davenport: Nobody really calls him that anymore, per his request. Usually, it’s Captain, Merle and his kids call him Dav, and then there’s Magnus’s ridiculous nickname, but he doesn’t mind what people call him as long as it’s not that. He says it’s like saying a word so many times it loses its meaning. One time Angus asked, very politely mind you, why Dav didn’t celebrate his birthday. He never did get an answer but that told him all he needed. Let’s just say that Fantasy Euchre (Yooker) lost its charm. His Grand Relic didn’t change his mannerisms. A fool might think that he doesn’t care about the casualties but it’s quite the opposite. He feels like feeling remorse for mistakes that he had no control over would be disrespectful to his victims. Instead he and Lord Artemis Sterling arrange for the day the Birds were separated (Cap’nport’s birthday) to be designated as a day of remembrance for The Grand Relics’ victims.

It’d be interesting to see a giant Rantaro
Yiiis!! I don't recall seeing a whole lot of giant Rantaro (or even tiny Rantaro) around here so this is the occasion to give the cool//hot avocado man some 💚🥑💚🥑
____
Word count: 2700
Summary: After one of her friend's dares goes awfully wrong, Himiko makes the unlikeliest encounter.
____
During one of the numerous festivals at Hope’s Peak, three classes gathered up to share their ghost stories.
“… And if you go to the girl’s bathroom on the third floor at three thirty-three, they say you’ll see the lonely spirit of a girl with round glasses and long twin braids. And if you try to confess your love to her…” Sayaka stopped her narration, the pause punctuated by the crackling of fire. The moon shone bright overhead and cast a gentle light on the pop star’s face; a serene atmosphere that certainly didn’t help set the eerie ambiance she was going for.
“Wh-What happens?” Kaito kept a tense, stoic face, but his deathly grip on Maki’s arm was enough to betray his discomfort.
“Oh, oh! She’ll slice you up with her scissors and leave your body crucified,” Hiyoko cried out.
“Well yeah,” Sayaka sighed and shot a glare at the smaller girl, “Apparently, her body was found like that after she confessed to someone.”
“She was probably killed by the rich prick she was stalking,” Hiyoko sent a smirk to the ultimate writing prodigy.
“Th-That wouldn’t be such a bad way to die.” Toko kept a firm gaze on her lap and hid a smile behind an awkward grimace, unaware of the attention on her.
A new silence settled in among the group, most creepy stories having already been explored.
“Hey, hey! Anyone hear of some monster lurking there?” Ibuki nodded towards the forest near the academy.
“Some kind of green, hairy beast, I hear,” Hifumi nodded solemnly to himself and readjusted his glasses, “Kind of like Shaymin.”
“Soo, anyone wanna go check it out? Kazu’?”
“No way I’m going in a forest at night! Don’t wanna get caught in a bear trap or somethin’. Why not, uh… Chihiro?”
“A-Ah, I think I’ll pass as well.”
“Then what about Himiko?”
The mage in question stirred and lifted her head up from Tenko’s lap. “Don’t,” She yawned, “… wanna. It’s such pain…” She closed her eyes and went on to resume her nap, but Kokichi woke her up again.
“Shouldn’t be such a pain with your amazing magician skills, right?” Himiko’s eyes shot open to glare at the boy.
“’m not a magician, I’m a mage.” She grumbled out.
“Dunno ‘bout that,” Akane looked up from her meal for the first time that night, “Magic, huh? Kinda sounds like one of Hiro’s scams.”
Himiko’s chest burned at the comment. She straightened up and glared around at the group. “My mage skills aren’t a scam. My magic is real, it’s real, it’s real, it’s real-”
“Tenko won’t let anyone doubt Himiko’s magic.” Tenko stood and stepped in front of Himiko in a battle stance. The smaller girl frowned at the gesture; it made her somewhat feel like a defenseless pet in Tenko’s eyes. She could take care of herself.
“My magic’s real, ‘nd I’ll prove it if I just…” She looked behind her to the looming trees, ready to swallow whoever dared venture in, “… Gotta go there. Even if I’m really tired.”
Tenko looked back at her with wide eyes and opened her mouth for a rebuttal, but was cut off by Kaede chiming in, “Don’t worry, Himiko, I’ve already been there and it’s safe.”
“Take this with you then,” Mahiru held a camera out to her, “You can take a picture if you find some monster or anything interesting.”
Himiko took the small device and turned on her heels, ready to ignore a certain aikidoka’s protests and go prove her worth. Armed with a little camera and her spells, the mage ventured deep in the dark woods.
The air started to get thicker, cold seeped under her skin. Himiko wrapped her arms around herself and muttered some spells she could only hope would keep her from freezing. While she’d been taking a nap close to the campfire, she had forgotten how chilly the night was. The prospect of going back right then was tempting, but the image of her classmates calling her magic a scam and Tenko coming to her defense with some poor excuse was enough for the mage to chase off the idea and keep going with all the passion and determination she had in her (it wasn’t much, but it would have to do.)
Himiko could swear that at some point, the trees around her had hit a growth spurt. They towered far over her head and no matter how hard she squinted, the girl couldn’ catch sight of a single star past the clutter of leafs. If she’d had enough mana, she would’ve made the trees go back to normal, but she was too tired for that, so she only walked further down her path in search of some monster she wasn’t even sure existed.
Himiko was so tired. She had no idea what she was even trying to prove to her stupid classmates. She could go back and say she hadn’t found anything and lay her head back on Tenko’s lap and drift off into a nap. But… Not yet.
“Hey…” She called out, “If there’s any monster in here or something, ‘m not afraid. Show yourself!” Brave mage she was, Himiko brandished her camera up to the sky, (almost) defying any scary creature to come at her.
In her feat of bravery, she forgot to keep an eye on her path, and her mind went blank with terror when the next step she took was on thin air.
Her grip on the camera tightened. There was a flash of light before she shut her eyes and bursts of pain overtook her small body. There were cuts and hits and cracking and rustling and freezing air rushing past her burning skin- Then everything stopped, and she didn’t feel a broken bone among the mess of pain in her body when she met solid ground.
Himiko’s hand slowly reached to her shoulder. She shuddered and panted as she let all the small shots of pain through her body melt into a single feverish sensation.
For maybe hours, or days, or only minutes, Himiko lay there, silently letting the pain sink in and holding her body back from jolting. With a groan, the girl cracked an eye open. It was still night time and there were no starts shining over her head. She glanced back at murderous slope she’d slipped on, and tried to understand if her vision was hazy or if she’d really fallen from that height without even getting concussed.
Lazy, unfocused brown eyes drifted further off ahead and met an odd tuft of green that wasn’t a tree. Further down, there was a-… There was a pair of eyes of the same green focused on her.
And no stars shone over her head because there was a massive head blocking them out.
Himiko’s mouth fell open to scream, but the sound died in her throat into a near speechless, panicked, “A-Ah…”
“Hey now, calm down, it’s alright.” The soft voice was that of a human boy, but it was the giant’s lips that were moving. There was a giant, absolutely massive monster in the forest like the legend said, and Himiko couldn’t think of any spell or any trick to get out of his clutches, and she found her mind stuck on a single thought, ‘I should have listened to Tenko.’
The mage rose to her feet, ready to run and hide, but something twisted in her leg and made her fall back on her back with a gasp. The only sensation that registered for her then was the warmth and softness of the large hand she realized she was on. The stark contrast to the rest of the forest was jarring enough that she had to hold back from retching.
Gravity pulled her down once again, and the massive face slowly got further and further away from her hazy vision. Then there was warm flesh all around her, blocking her view and pressing against every inch of her body and ready to suffocate her-
And all at once, it came to an end, and Himiko exhaled a shaky breath of relief when she felt cold, damp soil on her back and neck.
“There, not so bad, was it?” There was the whispering again. Himiko closed her gaping mouth and attempted to steady her breathing as she tried to take in the sight before her eyes. The giant’s lips still moved and he talked to her more and more. He looked like a human boy in every aspect, save for the terrifying height. The words –of comfort, she guessed,- fell on deaf ears for the mage who was caught up in whispering protective spells and incantations to herself, over and over until the words got tangled on her tongue and lost all meaning and comfort.
The offending hands came for her again, and despite her body’s screaming and protests, the girl pushed herself upright with her good arm and scooted back, only stopping when she caught sight of gauze at plate-sized fingertips.
Tentatively, Himiko allowed one of the fingers to brush over her injured leg. She hissed when a tender spot was pressed. “D-Don’t…!”
“It’s fine, sorry. Does it hurt here?” Instead of answering, she kept her eyes downcast and reached out to snatch off the gauze before backing away again. Compliantly, the hand backed off as well, and the giant stayed quiet.
If she remembered well, Mikan didn’t wrap wounds without cleaning them first, but the mage didn't have the luxury to ask for disinfectant from the beast boy that kept her cornered, so she had to do with less than that. She worked with one hand and left her right arm to hang lame at her side. More hissing and pain later, the unwelcome hand reached back to her leg. Himiko bit her lip and glanced up at the giant boy, but found his pressuring gaze only focused on her injury. Compliantly, she accepted the help and stayed quiet.
“Hah, I know I look scary, I get that a lot.” The whole way through, the strange giant kept talking to her. His voice was hushed as a whisper, but it still was louder and more powerful than the cheers of any audience she had ever performed for. “Don’t worry though, I promise I’m not a baddie.” It was unnerving and left her uncomfortable, but at least it served to distract her.
“I don’t…” sometime after most of her injuries were tended to, Himiko found her voice and courage again, “I don’t need your help.”
“I’m sure you dont,” His hands still worked to patch her up, “But that arm of yours isn’t looking too good. You shouldn’t move it much for now.”
“Then I’ll use my magic.” That caught the massive boy’s attention, and his focus shifted from her injury to her face.
“Magic? So you’re a magician, huh?” She pulled her hat lower down her face to avoid the attention.
“’m not. I’m a mage, a real and true mage who does real magic.” She bit her lip and looked up at the giant boy in the eyes, “And I’m really powerful, so if you try to hurt me or something…” She left the threat hanging, unsure what she could do against such a strong guy with her currently low mana.
“Ah, that doesn’t sound too good. I better…” Himiko winced at a sharp tug at her side, but then the pair of hands hovering over her finally retreated, and she had room to breathe again. “… Not try anything then.” The giant held his hands up over his head, and they went past the tallest trees. If he reached higher, she was sure he could grab the moon in a fist. “Will you show me some of your magic when you get better?”
Himiko checked over her wrapped injuries, absently nodding. She noted that her earlier protection spells had worked and turned the legendary scary green monster into a friendly (and quite handsome) man.
When both of them stopped talking, Himiko had expected silence; instead, she heard rustling and crunched leafs and cracking branches. The sound was rhythmic and getting louder by the second, like steps walking her way- or rather, running.
“Himiko!” The girl in question nearly jumped out of her skin at the sudden familiar voice.
“Hey,” she was startled again by the giant boy whispering to her. In his company, Himiko had forgotten that her classmates were still waiting for her to come back. She had no idea how she could explain the situation to Tenko, and she had to come up with something soon before the other girl found her and her new titanic aquaintence.
“Himiko? Shh,” Himiko watched the giant stranger bring a finger to his lips in a secretive gesture. Before she could question it, he got up on his feet and took several, quick steps back. The entire forest shook with his every step, and mere seconds later, before she even had time to gape at the sight, he had completely disappeared beyond the towering trees.
"Himiko! Are you alright?" Tenko's voice came above the smaller girl, who looked several feet up to where she'd been before her fall. In the darkness, she could barely make out a tall form in a blue girl's uniform.
"I-I'm fine!" Soon, her classmate would come down and join her. Himiko tugged at her bleazer and skirt to hide as much as she could of her injuries, and she barely had time to pick the discarded camera up before Tenko got to her. Besides the leaves and twigs stuck to her, she looked fine; and hopefully, her slight limp wouldn't be too noticeable
The taller girl fussed and worried over her, and Himiko only listened with one ear, gaze set instead where a titan had stood only seconds ago. She could have thought the encounter a dream if not for the bandages carefully wrapped over her wounds. That alone wouldn't be enough to prove she'd met a monster and gotten away thanks to her mage skills. The giant boy had seemed to prefer staying secretive anyway, so maybe that was for the best.
On the way to the academy, Himiko lingered behind Tenko with the camera in her hands, checking for any damage to the ultimate photographers' device. Curiously, she checked for the pictures saved in, and nearly sputtered when she saw a green tuft of hair and a pair of eyes of the same green.

A Tale of Questionable Carnival Rides
Tumblr media
~~~
Nesta huffed, checked the time on her phone again, and rolled her eyes. It was only 9:32pm now and the endless stream of kids and parents was still steadily flowing and likely would be for another hour or so.
Nesta checked again. 9:33pm.
It wasn’t that she hated the annual carnival fundraiser for the school, she liked planning it and making sure everything ran smoothly, being student council president that’s usually what her job description was. But not this year, no, this year Nesta was in charge of running one of the mini-game stands as Clare, who was supposed to be managing it, came down with the flu.
To say the least, Nesta did not enjoy dealing with groups of screaming children and their hovering parents. Honestly, she’d rather slam her hand into a car door than spend another hour watching kids fail to knock down three pins then become upset because they don’t get a prize for losing.
She was able to handle the first couple of kids that shed some tears and the few parents that wanted a pity prize, but as the night wore on her patience began to run thin.
A young blonde boy, maybe eight or nine years old, was now making his way up to Nesta’s booth followed by presumably his mother.
Nesta gave her the same, plastered-on smile she’d been giving all night to the woman approaching.
“Hi, three balls please,” the mother said sweetly, handing a five-dollar bill to Nesta over the table.
Nesta gave her a small nod and plucked three red balls from the bucket beside her, handing one to the little boy.
“Alright, all you have to do is knock down all three pins and you’ll get a prize,” she stated her usual rehearsed line.
Of course, the little boy missed his first shot, his aim a little too low, Nesta passed him a second ball in response. Once again, his ball missed its mark and the boy let out a little sound of frustration.
“It’s okay, you’ve got one more shot,” Nesta explained before setting the final ball before him.
The boy swiped up the plastic, red orb and weighed it in his hand. He turned his attention back to the three pins still sitting untouched atop the table adorned with a red and orange plaid, fall-appropriate cloth; he chucked the ball, grazing the top pin enough to knock it off.
“I did it! I did it!” The boy cried punching the air in triumph.
“Hey, I’m sorry, but you actually have to knock down all three to win,” Nesta frowned, feeling a little sympathetic for the kid.
“That’s crap!” He shouted. Nesta shifted her weight awkwardly from one foot to the other, “I’m sorry, that’s just the rules.”
The mother’s mouth was set in a thin line as she rested her hand on his arm. “C’mon honey, maybe you’ll have better luck at ring toss?” She offered. However, he looked up at her unimpressed, “No! This booth is the only one with the dragon stuffed animal! I got the top pin!”
The mother’s eyes flitted back up to Nesta. “Can you just give him the dragon? I mean he did hit one and I already gave you money, I’m sure that dragon is cheaper than five dollars.”
“I’m sorry, but I really don’t think I can do that,” Nesta reiterated.
The mother huffed, obviously getting upset now and started digging around in her purse. She slapped down another five-dollar bill in front of Nesta, “There? Is that enough? Just give him the damn toy.”
Nesta was a little torn on how to handle the situation, the last bit of patience she possessed slowly disintegrating. “Look, I can give you another three balls for you to try again but I can’t just give out the prizes for some money.”
The mother rolled her eyes, slamming her hand down by her side; “He’s just a kid, he’s not going to hit all of the pins and don’t try to tell me that dragon is worth more than a few bucks. This is just a high school fundraiser, save me the trouble and give my kid the damn prize.”
The son looked up at his mother with a pout.
“Ma’am, I’m sorry to hear that your son has no hand-eye coordination but frankly it’s not my problem. If you want to try and pay your way through another game I’d suggest the bean bag toss, my sister Elain is a softy.” Nesta gave her a sickly sweet smile and crossed her arms over her chest.
At that, the woman’s face turned a tint of red. “Okay, who is running this? I’d like to speak to one of your teachers or the principal, you’re being extremely rude.”
“I’m being rude? Lady, I’m just trying to get in my community service hours.”
The woman’s nostrils flared and Nesta could tell she was about to crack, she started to speak her voice significantly raised. “Alright, missy-”
“Whoa, hey, what is going on here?” Another voice chimed in.
Nesta groaned, her head turning to face the student council vice president who had now joined the interaction.
“Are you running this thing? This girl has been astonishingly ill-mannered,” the woman began. Cassian held up his hand, “I am not the one in charge, unfortunately, you’re actually looking at the boss right now.”
The woman gave Nesta another scowl, snatched up the five-dollar bill that still rested on the table, and grabbed her son’s hand dragging him off into the crowd. Cassian didn’t turn to leave though, “I’m actually surprised you didn’t get into a fight with a crazy mom earlier. I almost left your general vicinity thinking I wouldn’t have to break up anything, good thing I didn’t.”
Nesta rolled her eyes and uncrossed her arms, letting them rest at her side again. “My hero,” she added sarcastically.
Cassian smiled. “C’mon, sweetheart, why don’t we go for a little cooldown ferris wheel ride.”
“Really?” Nesta asked, gesturing with her head towards the sad scrap of chipped brightly painted metal that was the ‘ferris wheel’ the school decided to splurge on and rent out. “You’d get in a cart and the whole thing would topple over.”
Cassian only shook his head. “Nah, c’mon, Archeron. What, are you scared of heights?”
“Yes, I’m deathly afraid of being lifted twenty feet into the air, Cassian.”
Cassian didn’t respond, just held out his arm. Nesta sighed, deciding she’d rather risk her life on a very janky carnival ride than work that damn game. She slipped out from behind the tables and looped her arm through Cassian’s, “I hope you know you’re paying whatever ridiculous rate they have going.”
“I suspected as much,” he answered, pulling her across the high school parking lot which had been transformed into the makeshift carnival.
They stood together in the small line and Nesta closed her eyes, tipping her head back breathing in the scent of corn dogs and funnel cakes deeply. The student letting kids on and off the ride collected Cassian’s money and they stepped into their cart. It did audibly creak as Cassian and all his muscles took up residence, Nesta settled in across from him.
“How have you enjoyed working a booth? Think next year you’ll decide to do it again rather than running around making sure everything’s working out?” Cassian asked, stretching his arms behind him.
“I think if I get stuck handing kids balls to throw at pins or something like that again I will abdicate my throne.”
Cassian raised his brow. “It can’t be that bad.”
Nesta shrugged. “Why do you care? You’re probably thinking up a scheme to make sure I end up on game duty again so you can have my presidential status.”
“Nah, I’m not after your position I swear. I don’t even like being vice president.”
Now it was Nesta’s turn to raise a brow. “Then why do you keep doing it?”
Cassian hesitated a moment. “It’s the only way I get to spend time with you,” he confessed.
“You’re telling me for two years you’ve run for vice president so you could hang out with me?” Nesta asked, disbelief coating her tone.
Cassian nodded.
“You took on the extra burden of full hour meetings twice a week before school, put in countless hours of budgeting, fundraising, making posters, all that jazz just to spend time with me?”
Cassian nodded again looking as if he were trying much too hard to stay cool and calm. “Romantic, isn’t it?” He smirked like he was ready for Nesta to melt into his arms.
“No, that’s so fucking stupid,” Nesta crossed her arms.
Only then did Cassian’s built up nonchalant aura falter. “W-what?”
“Yeah dumbass, you literally could have just asked me out.”
“I didn’t think you’d ever say yes,” now Cassian was leaning forward, his face exuding a plethora of emotions.
Nesta leaned forward, her face only a few inches from Cassian’s own.
“I would’ve said yes,” she almost whispered. Cassian’s eyes searched Nesta’s face for any sign that she was playing a cruel joke, he found none. “Nesta?” he asked softly.
“Mhm?”
“Would you really go out with me?” His eyes were wide and hopeful, the innocence of it all made Nesta smile. Especially knowing how much of a goofball Cassian was, it was different seeing him so genuine and unguarded.
“I really would,” she answered at last. She and Cassian just stared at each other for a moment, the corners of their lips upturned.
“Nes?” Cassian’s voice broke. Nesta raised her eyebrows slightly, encouraging him to continue. “Is it okay if I give you my letter of resignation on the date, too?”
Nesta let out a small giggle and rested her forehead against his. “You’re such a doof.”
