Unlock the Secret to Glowing Skin; Discover the Benefits and Best Ways to Use Rosehip Seed Oil
Tumblr media
Rosehip seed oil is a powerful ingredient that has been used for centuries to improve the overall appearance and health of the skin. It is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids, making it an excellent choice for those looking to achieve a glowing complexion.
Rosehip oil for face - One of the main benefits of using rosehip seed oil on your face is that it can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is due to the high levels of vitamin A found in the oil, which is known for its ability to stimulate collagen production and improve skin elasticity.
In addition to its anti-aging properties, rosehip seed oil is also incredibly hydrating. It contains essential fatty acids, such as linoleic acid and linolenic acid, which help to lock in moisture and keep the skin plump and supple. This makes it an excellent choice for those with dry or dehydrated skin.
Another benefit of using rosehip seed oil on your face is that it can help to reduce the appearance of scars and hyperpigmentation. This is because it contains vitamin C, which has been shown to have a brightening effect on the skin. It can also help to improve skin texture, making it smoother and more even.
When it comes to using rosehip seed oil on your face, there are a few different ways to incorporate it into your skincare routine. One option is to use it as a moisturizer. Simply apply a few drops to your face after cleansing and toning, and massage gently into the skin. You can also mix a few drops of rosehip seed oil with your favorite moisturizer for an extra boost of hydration.
Another way to use rosehip seed oil on your face is as a serum. Apply a few drops to your face before moisturizing, and allow it to absorb into the skin before applying any other products. This can help to provide an extra layer of hydration and nourishment to the skin.
Overall, rosehip seed oil is a versatile and powerful ingredient that can help to improve the overall health and appearance of your skin. Whether you use it as a moisturizer or serum, incorporating it into your skincare routine can help to give you the glowing complexion you've always wanted.

February’s full Moon is a “Micromoon” this year. Think of this term as the opposite of a “Supermoon.” It simply means that the full Moon is at its farthest point from Earth (not the nearest point).
The explanation behind February’s full Moon name is a fairly straightforward one: it’s known as the Snow Moon due to the typically heavy snowfall that occurs in February. On average, February is the United States’ snowiest month, according to data from the National Weather Service. In the 1760s, Captain Jonathan Carver, who had visited with the Naudowessie(Dakota), wrote that the name used for this period was the Snow Moon, “because more snow commonly falls during this month than any other in the winter.”

Imbolc is a Gaelic festival marking the beginning of spring. Most commonly it is held on January 31 – February 1, or halfway between the winter solstice & the spring equinox. The holiday is a festival of the hearth, home, a celebration of the lengthening days & the early signs of spring.
The word "imbolc" means "in the belly" and refers to the pregnancy of ewes at this time of year. The term "oimelc" means ewe's milk. Around this time of year, many herd animals give birth to their first offspring of the year or are heavily pregnant & as a result, they are producing milk. This creation of life’s milk is a part of the symbolic hope for spring.
Imbolc is mentioned in some of the earliest Irish literature and it is associated with important events in Irish mythology. It has been suggested that it was originally a pagan festival associated with the goddess Brigid and that it was Christianized as a festival of Saint Brigid, who herself is thought to be a Christianization of the goddess.
Some use Imbolc to celebrate the longer days which herald the return of Spring & The Goddess's recovery from giving birth to The Sun (The God) at Yule. The God & The Goddess are children symbolizing new life, new beginnings & new resurrections.
Related festivals:
• Groundhog Day-  Is a tradition observed in the United States & Canada on February 2 of every year. It derives from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day & sees its shadow, it will retreat to its den & winter will go on for six more weeks; if it does not see its shadow, spring will arrive early.
While the tradition remains popular in the 21st century, studies have found no consistent association between a groundhog seeing its shadow & the subsequent arrival time of spring-like weather.
•St. Brigid's Day- 1 February. It was originally Imbolc, the first day of spring in Irish tradition. Because Saint Brigid has been theorised as linked to the goddess Brigid, some associate the festival of Imbolc with the goddess. St. Brigid is the patroness saint (or 'mother saint') of Ireland. She is patroness of many things, including poetry, learning, healing, protection, blacksmithing, livestock & dairy production. In her honour, a perpetual fire was kept burning at Kildare for centuries.
A recent campaign successfully established her feast day as a national holiday in 2023.
• Chinese New Year- (February 10th) the festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. In Chinese, the festival is commonly referred to as the Spring Festival,- marking the end of winter and the beginning of the spring season. Observances traditionally take place from Chinese New Year's Eve, the evening preceding the first day of the year, to the Lantern Festival, held on the 15th day of the year. The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between January 21st & February 20th.
The Chinese New Year is associated with several myths and customs. The festival was traditionally a time to honour deities as well as ancestors. Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the New Year vary widely & the evening preceding the New Year's Day is frequently regarded as an occasion for Chinese families to gather for the annual reunion dinner.
It is also a tradition for every family to thoroughly clean their house, in order to sweep away any ill fortune & to make way for incoming good luck. Another custom is the decoration of windows & doors with red paper-cuts and couplets. Popular themes among these paper-cuts and couplets include good fortune or happiness, wealth & longevity. Other activities include lighting firecrackers  & giving money in red envelopes.
•  Candlemas- is a Christian feast day on February 2nd commemorating the presentation of Jesus at the Temple. It is based upon the account of the presentation of Jesus in Luke 2:22-40.
While it is customary for Christians in some countries to remove their Christmas decorations on Twelfth Night, those in other Christian countries historically remove them after Candlemas. On Candlemas, many Christians also take their candles to their local church, where they are blessed and then used for the rest of the year.
•Setsubun- (February 3rd) Is the day before the beginning of spring in the old calendar in Japan. The name literally means 'seasonal division', referring to the day just before the first day of spring.
Both Setsubun & Risshun are celebrated yearly as part of the Spring Festival (Haru matsuri ) in Japan. In its association with the Lunar New Year, Setsubun, though not the official New Year, was thought of as similar in its ritual & cultural associations of 'cleansing' the previous year as the beginning of the new season of spring. Setsubun was accompanied by a number of rituals & traditions held at various levels to drive away the previous year's bad fortunes & evil spirits for the year to come.
Other Celebrations:
• Lupercalia-
In ancient Rome, this festival was conducted annually on February 13th through 15th under the superintendence of a corporation of priests called Luperci. The origins of the festival are obscure, although the likely derivation of its name from lupus (Latin: “wolf”) has variously suggested connection with an ancient deity who protected herds from wolves and with the legendary she-wolf who nursed Romulus and Remus. As a fertility rite, the festival is also associated with the god Faunus.
to purify the city, promoting health & fertility.
Each Lupercalia began with the sacrifice by the Luperci of goats and a dog, after which two of the Luperci were led to the altar, their foreheads were touched with a bloody knife & the blood was wiped off with wool dipped in milk; the ritual required that the two young men laugh. The sacrificial feast followed, after which the Luperci cut thongs from the skins of the sacrificial animals & ran in two bands around the Palatine hill, striking with the thongs at any woman who came near them. A blow from the thong was supposed to render a woman fertile.
In 494 CE the Christian church under Pope Gelasius I forbade participation in the festival. Tradition holds that he appropriated the form of the rite as the Feast of the Purification (Candlemas), celebrated on February 2, but it is likely that the Christian feast was established in the previous century. It has also been alternately suggested that Pope Gelasius I replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine’s Day, celebrated on February 14th, but the origin of that holiday was likely much later.

Reveal Your Bollywood Glow: Unveiling Celebrity-Inspired Skincare Secrets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This blog is going to be all about Indian & bollywood inspired products and skincare tips. If you also want a blog separately about Indian natural and authentic skincare or hair care I'll surely make it. 🫶
Know Your Skin Type : Identify your skin type - whether it's oily, dry, combination, or sensitive - to tailor your skincare routine effectively.
Cleanse Like a Star : Use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil or Neutrogena to remove dirt and makeup and a oil cleaner is a must if you wear makeup daily. Opt for micellar water for a quick and effective cleanse on busy days. (But I don't really recommend it).
Exfoliate for Radiance : Incorporate a mild exfoliator like St. Ives Apricot Scrub or The Body Shop's Vitamin C Glow-Revealing Liquid Peel to slough off dead skin cells and reveal glowing skin. And my personal favorite coffee scrub from The Bombay shaving company. Don't exfoliate more than twice a week.
Hydration Is Key : Use a hydrating toner such as Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray for an instant boost of hydration or toner + mist from pilgrim works like magic (my fav 😭).
Targeted Treatments : Include a serum with ingredients like hyaluronic acid (for hydration) or vitamin C (for hyperpigmentation) if you are under 17 or 18 like me don't use vitamin c or if you want to use in very less %, I use 2% kojic acid for my uneven skin tone from pilgrim, it's very begniner friendly. (Always consult a dermatologist for your skincare don't go around seeing videos on insta and YouTube believing them). I recommend Minimalist if you want chemical bases serums.
If you are above 23 or 25 Incorporate a retinol-based cream like RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream for anti-aging benefits. (Got this tip from mumma for y'all 😭✨️)
Sun Protection Essentials : Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, such as La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Light Fluid, to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. More affordable and effective sunscreens from brands — dot and key, aqualogica, Dr. Seth and wish care.
Overnight Nourishment: Use a hydrating overnight mask like Laneige Water Sleeping Mask to replenish moisture while you sleep. Incorporate a facial oil like The Ordinary's Rose Hip Seed Oil for added nourishment and radiance.
DIY Treatments Inspired by Bollywood:
- Try a turmeric, gram flour and yogurt face mask inspired by Priyanka Chopra for glowing skin.
- Use aloe vera gel like Deepika Padukone for its soothing and hydrating properties. (MY fav bolly actress btw 😭❤️)
Lifestyle Tips for Healthy Skin : Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day people are not stupid that they are going around telling you to drink water, IT'S A MUST!. Incorporate antioxidant-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, and green tea into your diet for overall skin health.
Some of my fav brands (mostly available in india) : dot and key, Foxtale, pilgrim, minimalist, st. Botanica, organic harvest and aqualogica!
Fav brand released by a bollywood actress: Hyphen by Kriti Sanon, their lip balm can even beat Rhode's lip balm istg- and their sunscreen 🔛🔝.
Channel your inner Bollywood diva and achieve a radiant, flawless skin with these skincare tips and product recommendations. Let your skin glow like a star!

Two Little Pumpkins (Rhett Abbott x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Halloween is fast approaching but for you and Rhett that means letting the kiddos do one of their favorite things
Rhett's heavy footfalls clunked down the stairs to the living room and into the kitchen, the full laundry basket resting on his hip and ready for the washing machine. God his clothes stank, the reek of cow shit, motor oil and compost all over them. Bad enough that he and Wes had to shovel out the pigpen on the Redwood ranch that afternoon in the cold, wet rain before he discovered that a good portion of the rain had soaked through the tops of his boots.
He overturned the bucket into the washer that rested in the little room just off the kitchen, the giggles of Hannah, Amy and Rose Hawk, music to his ears as he dumped in a capful of laundry detergent.
"Whatcha up to girlies?" he asked.
"Making jack-o-lanterns!!!" the girls chirped.
Rhett looked up as he switched on the washer, the three girls all at the kitchen table, happily carving away at their pumpkins while the smells of cinnamon, apples and the pumpkin spice candles burned in the living room. You yourself, were in the kitchen and getting dinner prepped for that night, the sun having gone down around five-thirty which made the house extra cozy even as the due date for your twin boys crept closer and closer.
"You good sweet thing?" Rhett said, sneaking up behind you.
"As always," you answered rather cheekily.
"What's on the menu for tonight?"
"Big bowl of beef stew, mashed potatoes and buttermilk biscuits."
Rhett had to bite his lip to hide the obscene groan that had welled in his throat. He loved whenever you made Cecelia's beef stew recipe and if it was her ox tail soup? He'd eat it until there was nothing more in the dutch oven.
You stirred the savory contents of the crockpot while Rhett took a seat at the kitchen table to help the girls. He took care of the sharp parts, carving out along the marks made with a sharpie and cutting open the top while the girls scooped out the contents, pretending to be mad scientists.
"Her girlies," you said, handing them a cookie tray. "Put the guts and seeds on a cookie tray, momma's gonna make cookies with them."
"Mind salting and saving the seeds for me?" Rhett asked.
You didn't mind at all. Like sunflower seeds, Rhett was an absolute sucker for roasted pumpkin seeds in the fall, carrying them in a little bag and eating them with his lunches like they were popcorn.
You picked out the pumpkin seeds and set them in a strainer to wash them off while the soft, cakey cookie batter was whipped up in a bowl with the pumpkin being dumped in and promptly mixed in. The entire house smelled so good that you wished you could bottle it all up and make a candle scent with it.
"Whatcha think darlin?" Rhett asked when Rose turned her pumpkin around. "Scary enough?"
You laughed a little. "I dunno Rhett," you told him. "I think Joy and Martha are gonna get spooked when they see it."
You and Rhett had the time of your lives helping the girls to carve their pumpkins while dinner and dessert cooked away in the oven.
"Wanna put these on display at the store?" Rhett asked while the girls were washing their hands for dinner.
"Why not?" you answered. "I figured maybe a little Halloween pumpkin display wouldn't be a bad idea."
Rhett kissed your lips. He couldn't wait to see it.

"The character of the “Easter bunny” first appeared in 16th-century German writings, which said that if well-behaved children built a nest out of their caps or bonnets, they would be rewarded with colored eggs" [1].
"American Christians continue to generally celebrate Easter as a religious holiday, but public references to Easter almost never include any religious elements. Christians and non-Christians alike celebrate Easter in decidedly non-Christian ways: with chocolate and other forms of Easter candy, Easter eggs, Easter egg hunts, the Easter bunny, and so forth. Most cultural references to Easter include these elements, most of which are pagan in origin and all of which have become commercialized" [2].

Rose hips are the fruit of the rose plant. Every rose blossom that is left unpicked will eventually develop a berry-like hip after the flower fades away. Each hip contains rose seeds inside, along with hundreds of little fuzzy hairs. Rose hips are edible and have medicinal values.

Rosehips: Uses, Preparation, and Correspondences
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Element: Water
Planet: Venus
Toxic to Dogs?: No
Toxic to Cats?: No
The rosehip is the accessory fruit of various species of rose plants. This fruit forms when blossoms are left on the rose plant and allowed to drop their petals. They are usually red or orange in color, but some species can be dark purple or black. The bright orange hips shown above were harvested from my Rosa cania (Dog Rose) bush.
Rosehips are rich in vitamin C and are used in a variety of culinary dishes including syrups, jellies, sauces, cocktails, and teas. Harvest these in Autumn after the first frost for softer, sweeter fruit.
Correspondences:
These are my personal correspondences and are not universally true. Correspondences depend on culture, tradition, and personal practice. Additionally, the species of plant from which you harvest your rosehips may affect their associations, due to differences in use and symbolism.
Healing - Rosehips are rich in vitamins, especially vitamin C. It is also said that the dog rose got it's name from the folk belief that it could cure the bite of a rabid dog, but this has been debated.
Love - Roses traditionally represent love. The Dog Rose specifically has been said to represent love and marriage.
Beauty - Since rosehip oil is so popular in the hair and skincare industry, it would make sense for it to be associated with physical beauty.
Fertility, abundance, and growth - Due the fact that rosehips are bursting with seeds. Dog Rose blossoms are great for pollinators and the hips make an excellent food source for birds.
Death and Rebirth - Rosehips are ripe during Autumn, right after the first frost, just as most plants and crops begin to die. The seeds germinate during Winter and start growing in the Spring.
Harvesting Rosehips
Before harvesting rosehips, remember to collect from plants that have not been treated with pesticides.
If foraging, do not take from conservation areas and do not harvest all of the hips. Birds and other species of wildlife depend on them as a food source.
Rosehips should be collected during Autumn, after the first frost. They should be deep orange or red in color.
To harvest, simply cut the stem at the base of the hip. Wear thick gardening gloves to protect from thorns.
Drying Rosehips
Smaller rosehips, like that of the Dog Rose, can be dried whole. Larger hips must be sliced. I also recommend cutting and cleaning rosehips, as they contain tiny hairs that will irritate the skin and mouth when touched/consumed.
Start by washing your rosehips in cool water. Dry with a paper towel. Slice the hips in half.
If you want to save seeds, scoop them out of the hips until you have a good handful. Rinse, dry, and store in a sealed container in the refrigerator until you are ready to germinate.
After cutting the hips, transfer to a baking sheet or dehydrator.
If drying in the oven, set the temperature to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 3-4 hours, or until the fruit is bone dry. If using a dehydrator, set the temperature to 135 degrees for 6-8 hours.
Hairs and seeds can be scooped out before or after drying. You can also add the dried hips to a food processor, pulse until finely chopped, and sift out the hairs and seeds using a sieve.
Once prepared and dried, store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
Uses for your rosehips include but are not limited to:
Self love and emotional healing spells
Ritual baths
Kitchen witchcraft
Spiritual offerings
Tinctures and oils
Abundance and growth spells
Resources:
Superstition and Folklore
Dog Rose: General Information
Drying and Storing Rosehips
Toxicity to Cats and Dogs
(Please note that though rosehips are not toxic to dogs and cats, you should keep them out of reach, as they contain hairs that can harm your pet and irritate their mouth and digestive system when consumed.)

Unlock the Beauty Secrets of Rosehip Oil; The Miracle Elixir for Perfect Skin
Rosehip oil has been making waves in the beauty industry for quite some time now and for good reason. This miracle elixir has been used for centuries to treat a wide range of skin issues, from scars to stretch marks, and it's all-natural, which means no harsh chemicals or additives.
So, what exactly is rosehip oil? It's a cold-pressed oil that's extracted from the seeds of the rosehip fruit, which is native to Chile. It's packed with antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamins A and C, which are all essential for healthy skin.
The benefits of rosehip oil are numerous. Firstly, it's incredibly moisturizing and can help to soothe dry, flaky skin. It's also known for its ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, thanks to its high concentration of vitamin A.
But that's not all - rosehip oil can also help to fade scars and hyperpigmentation. This is because it contains a compound called retinoic acid, which is a form of vitamin A that's been shown to improve skin texture and tone.
In addition to its anti-aging properties, rosehip oil is also great for acne-prone skin. It's non-comedogenic, which means it won't clog pores, and it contains anti-inflammatory properties that can help to soothe redness and irritation.
So, how do you use rosehip oil? It's incredibly versatile and can be used in a number of ways. For example, you can apply a few drops directly to your face as a moisturizer, or mix it into your favorite serum or moisturizer for an added boost of hydration.
You can also use rosehip oil as a spot treatment for scars or hyperpigmentation. Simply apply a small amount directly to the affected area and massage it gently.
In conclusion, rosehip oil is truly a miracle elixir for perfect skin. Whether you're looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fade scars and hyperpigmentation, or soothe dry, flaky skin, this all-natural oil has got you covered. So, why not give it a try and unlock the beauty secrets of rosehip oil? Your skin will thank you for it!

IMBOLC
Also referred to as Imbolg or Candlemass
Tumblr media
When is Imbolc?
Typically celebrated between February 1st to February 2nd.
What does Imbolc mean?
It is a celebration of rebirth, fertility, and the arrival of the lambing period of sheep. It is considered the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, celebrating the near arrival of springtime.
Who does Imbolc celebrate?
The Goddess Brigid is honored at this time, who is the goddess of fertility, hearth, poetry, and smithcraft.
—————
IMBOLC TRADITIONS
Work with stones that promote fertility, healing, and/or creativity, such as moonstone, amethyst, carnelian, rose quartz, malachite, clear quartz, and turquoise.
Utilize aromatic herbs and flowers such as cinnamon, basil, angelica, daffodil, plumeria, and myrrh, which are known to be mood-boosters, diaphoretic, and aid with quelling anxiety. Daffodils specifically symbolize “new beginnings.”
Create or consume diary products such as cheese, cow’s or sheep’s milk. Imbolc is the celebration of lambing, after all! Sweet berries such as blackberries and strawberries are also good choices.
Wear or decorate with brown, beige, white, ochre, and gold colors.
Incorporate animal imagery (e.g., drawings, photographs, figurines, et cetera) of sheep, cows, and swans, symbolizing the Goddess Brigid’s connection to animals. These animals are specifically associated with love and fertility.

IMBOLC ACTIVITIES
Burn candles to symbolize the welcoming of light and warmth of the forthcoming springtime. Burning herbs and palo santo can aid with cleansing and purifying around you.
Take a ritual bath: add one cup of milk, dehydrated strawberries, and a couple drops of rose hip oil to your bath.
Create or purchase Brigid’s Cross. Place it on an altar or near your front or bedroom door for protection. You can make one out of rushes or paper!

Indulge in creative endeavors, whether it be painting, sewing, poetry, journaling, singing, metalworking, playing and instrument, et cetera. The Goddess Brigid is specifically associated with poetry and writing as well as working with metals.
Appreciate nature. Take a walk around your neighborhood or a park; engage in outdoor activities; or take photographs, draw observations, jot down notes and observances, or simply introspect.
Plant seeds of your chose in your garden to represent birth and growth, and foster a connection to nature.
Get creative with recipes! Carlota Santos, who is the author of Magika, recommends a simple strawberry milkshake or baking a blueberry and chocolate cream cake.

Note
do you have a skincare routine (and how many steps is it)?
(asking bc I know chicky must’ve educated you on this topic extensively LMAO)
obviously yes but I would be nowhere without my guru @chickywickers. the skincare routine has also adapted recently to incorporate products recommended by @rowanisawriter, who is also a skincare girlie.
AM
Skip the face wash! I just use micellar water or regular water don't @ me
Serum: Jan Marini Bioclear Face Lotion (just in one little area I'm fighting some hyperpigmentation in - it's $$$ but it works)
Serum: ZO Daily Power Defense OR Glossier Vitamin C on Rowan's rec
Moisturizer: Currently using Good Science Beauty 004-Br Skin Brightening Cream but I haven't settled on anything I love in a while - taking recs!
Sunscreen: Beauty of Joseon sunscreen!
PM
Face Wash: I alternate but either the Kate Somerville Sensitive Skin Cleanser or the Ole Henrikson Vitamin C one
Serum: Either repeat 2 and 3 from AM or do Arazlo (the newfangled version of prescription tretinoin called trazarotene idk my derm gave it to me)
Moisturizer: I just ran out of Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Night Cream - holy shit I love this stuff, I will be repurchasing eventually - but I just picked up the Watermelon Glow AHA Night Treatment again on Rowan's rec (it's been years since I've tried but I love it)
CeraVe Eye Repair Cream - I don't like this, I want something different
Oil: I just ran out of my Biossance Rose and Squalane oil and cheaped out and replaced it with the Ordinary Rose Hip Seed Oil, which is not nearly as nice but does the trick
Sometimes I'll top it off with a little Vanicream if I want to be extra moisturized lol

Some mega ultra protection potpourri I made for my aunt. She can't smell unfortunately so I didn't go crazy with fragrance, however I did put two drops of sweet orange essential oils so it does smell citrus-y but like, there's a warmth to it that comes from the lavender. Our lavender oil is so strong we used one drop and it was almost overpowering at first. But I will list below the sheer amount of ingredients I put in this
Grim's protection/banishing negative energy potpourri
Black salt
Gravel root / meadowsweet
Penny royal
Eucalyptus
Red clover
Benzoin powder
Uva ursi
Clove (oil and whole cloves)
Basil
Blessed thistle
Lavender oil
Black walnut
Elder flower
Fennel seed
Arnica flowers
Angelica root
Lotus leaf
Lemon peel
Orange peel
Juniper berries
Peony bark
A single rose hip
You may use this if you wish, feel free to use substitutions. I didn't write my correspondences with these ingredients because I feel you should make your own correspondences. However there are many lists out there that explain the general gist of the metaphysical properties
