HOBIE BROWN | SPIDER-PUNK (atsv)
─────────────────
Tumblr media Tumblr media

“Brand New Metal” (Hobie Brown & Fem!Reader)
| Hobie helps you pierce your nose.
| SFW, piercing description, needles
| Featuring almost the entirety of my own piercing experience. (Pic source: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) movie)
Tumblr media
You pull away for what feels like the hundredth time in five minutes and Hobie’s hand moves outta the way even faster, barely a blur of movement before it’s back within his bubble of space.
“C’mon, Mama, I can’t do this if you keep jumpin’ away from me.”
You shift in place where your butt is planted beside the hard water stained sink. Shoulders dropping you rub your hands down your face.
“I know that,” you grumble.
Problem was, knowing barely qualified as a quarter of the issue, and whoever said knowing was half the battle clearly hadn’t been staring down the point of the thickest needle you’d ever seen in person.
You wave your hand to the metal rod with a grimace. “But look at the size of that thing, Hobes. That’s gotta be overkill.”
Hobie’s accent seems to get thicker as he hits you with a deadpan tone, full brows shading his eyes.
“This’s a twenty gauge needle. I’ve seen you ’old your guts inside you and still make time to bash in some fascists, this’s nothin’.”
In response you flip him off but Hobie - perfectly unfazed - only starts twirling the needle around two latex glad fingers.
His own piercings - of which there were plenty - glint off of the dim yellow lighting of his bathroom like a taunt. Or at least it feels like that to you.
“Look, I already told you piercings ain’t some crucial part of the scene, Mama. You don’t have ta do any of this. It’s all just boxes and labels, the lot of it,” Hobie points the blunt side of the needle at you. “And you know I hate labels.”
“Yeah, Hobes, the whole of Camden knows. Besides, I want it cause I think it looks nice not cause of capitalism’s agenda to make us buy shit instead of looking at whatever human right of the day they’re doing away with,” you shrug and Hobie’s mouth twists to the side for a second before he’s shrugging too.
“Great. Point’s been made then. Pick a struggle.”
“Fuck your struggle,” you frown. “It’ll hurt.”
“Hn,” he scoffs and shakes his head. He’s giving you this narrow look like he’d let you keep this back and forth up for the rest of the day without any complaints though. “Fake ones exist for a reason.”
“Fake ones won’t give me the satisfaction of a real piercing though.”
“The lie that we need to feel pain in order to be worthy of livin’ is also capitalistic propaganda, Luv.”
Now it’s your turn to give him a look; face dropping and one brow rising.
Hobie chuckles.
“Fine.” He grins, sharp. “We both know I know exactly what it is you’re sayin’. I just can’t tell if being an accomplice to yer masochism is fair to me.”
“You wouldn’t deny a woman her creative outlet, would you?”
“S’pose not,” Hobie agrees, taking another alcohol swab and disinfecting the needle again for extra measure.
He eyes you up and down and you smile, fluttering your lashes at him and kicking your heels into his cabinet doors. You needed Hobie to be the one to do this. For one, because you were not going to be able to do this yourself, and for two, because he was really the only person you trusted to puncture a literal hole in your body.
You take a deep breath, now if only you could chill the hell out.
Hobie shakes his head, wicks flopping around and knocking into each other languidly.
“Yer one ‘elluva reluctant participant to this for someone agreein’ they’re a masochist,” he nods to the needle while brandishing it like a knife. He knows you're full of shit, but he’s not about to make your decision for you. “You gotta stop flinching every time light just glints off the needle if you really want this.”
You lock eyes with him, sitting up to your full height and trying not to back away from the metal rod. “Maybe I’m just waiting for the adrenaline rush to kick in.”
“Pretty sure that happens after the pain, yeh?
A huff and your fingers curl over the edge of the counter and squeeze.
“Just…get it over with, Hobie.” You take a deep breath. “Please?”
“Alright alright, don’t get your knickers in a twist,” Hobie eases a hand around your jaw and raises the needle. “You know I’ve got you. Now keep still.”
Another deep breath from you and Hobie meets your eye for a second time.
“On three,” he grunts. With your head in his grasp you can’t physically nod so you use your eyes to convey your agreement.
Hobie takes a breath to start the countdown and you inhale with him. You’ve gotten your ears pierced before, you could do this. It was fine. Plus you’ll have a few seconds to prep yourself before he gets to number three. You got this. You both exhale.
“Three,” he states.
Without a second to spare the needle pierces through the squishy cartilage of your nose and your breath catches in your throat. Instantly tears well in your eyes and your face heats up something fierce - like somebody’s holding a blow dryer on the highest setting up to it with zero mercy. Your joints pop, grasp on the counter growing tighter in your attempt to keep yourself from jerking out of Hobie’s hold. The sheer need to not garner an actual injury from the metal is almost solely what keeps you in place.
This wasn’t like an ear piercing at fucking all. Fuck this septum piercing and fuck Hobie too. What the fuck?
“Ow! You motherfucker!”
NOTES: Hope you enjoyed!! I only wrote his accent clearly some of the time; you’ll have to forgive me. I was confusing my damn self, okay? I did my best.
Also what I said about how adrenaline works isn’t really correct so don’t take that as gospel.
Edit: Had this labeled gn!reader on accident at first y’all, that’s my bad. Sorry for any confusion.
btw: if you’d like to leave a comment I’d very much appreciate it. this is a sideblog tho so I won’t respond.

Y/N: Can I have a piece of cake from the fridge?
Yelena: What’s the rule?
Y/N, sighing: No cake after dinner.
Yelena: No, that’s Nat’s rule. My rule is that you need to bring me a slice as well.

Mob!Natasha x daughter!reader headcannons
masterlist
a/n: I figured writing some headcanons was a bit less pressuring, and I enjoyed this so much! I’ll definitely be writing more headcanons in the future :)
You do not have my permission to repost, copy or translate my work
 |——————————— ⴵ ———————————|
Mob!Natasha who found you when you were just a baby. She heard crying coming out of the closet after she had just killed her target. Turns out, he had already found his next victim, you. Luckily, Natasha was just in time to save you from that horrible life and raised you herself
Mob!Natasha who raised you in the safety of her Russian home. Protected, hidden, and far away from the dangers of the world
Mob!Natasha who only allowed Melina, Alexei, and Yelena to see and know about you the first 5 years of your life
Mob!Natasha who started training you for active combat the moment you could stand, wanting you to be able to protect yourself, should you ever end up being mixed into one of her ‘jobs’
Mob!Natasha who loves you more than anything in the world, getting you whatever you want whenever you want it, yet still making sure you’re not becoming a spoiled brat
Mob!Natasha who puts her trusted bodyguard, Bucky Barnes, on any and every outing you go on. You leave the house for a walk? You better count on the fact that Bucky is coming. You want to go shopping? Don’t worry, Bucky will simply come to help you carry your bags. You want to have dinner with someone? Bucky will simply sit a few tables away from you, giving you privacy yet keeping a close eye on you
Mob!Natasha who is terrified when your existence becomes known after you and her are spotted going for a little shopping trip. She will upgrade her security everywhere, putting multiple bodyguards by your side every time you leave the house. Of course, she still trusts that Bucky is the best at keeping you safe, but just to be sure, you get a few more of her men
Mob!Natasha who sometimes allows you to sit in on her meetings, letting you sit next to her, or on the ground, whichever you prefer. It’s not like any of the people she is meeting with can say anything. That is if they want to keep their lives of course. Sometimes, if you forgot to bring something she will slide you her notepad for you to doodle on, or she’ll just stop the entire meeting and order one of her men to fetch you whatever you wish. She gets to decided how her meetings go, of course
Mob!Natasha who knows you adore her henchwomen more than anything. Your personal favourite is Natasha’s assistant, Maria. You know her and your mom have some more going on. You are not blind to the lingering touches and the sneaky looks they send each other. Of course, you are a big fan of Carol. She is just so cool and nice to you, even though she can kill someone with basically a glare. To you, she is the sweetest human on the planet
Mob!Natasha who knows you adore your aunt Yelena more than anyone on the planet. Because of that, she makes sure Yelena gets the opportunity to visit more than enough. Everytime Natasha has to leave for a slightly bigger ‘job’ she simply calls Yelena to keep you company. Natasha knows you don’t need a babysitter anymore, but she likes the idea of you not having to be lonely. Besides, it is much safer for you to be accompanied by your aunt Yelena
Mob!Natasha who knows how much you adore playing board and cards games, so she told her people to never deny you a game, were you to ask. Luckily, you mostly gravitate towards Carol and her girlfriend Valkyrie, and who were they to deny you a game? They loved your company, and they loved playing your card games with you
Mob!Natasha who, when you start dating someone, runs thousands of background checks, does hundreds of checkups throughout the day, and makes sure to give whoever you decided to date a little talk, letting them know exactly what’s waiting for them were they ever to hurt you
Mob!Natasha who had the best private tutors coming to your home to teach you everything you needed to know, giving you the highest level of eduction you’d ever need
Mob!Natasha who knows that you are financially set for life, but who still allows you to go to college if you would ever want to. Of course it would be an expensive, high security private school, but still
Mob!Natasha who takes you on the multiple holiday trips during the year. You want to go to Spain? Pack your bag because Natasha will have planned a trip next week. Obviously you both will simply take her private jet, but she needs a week to book some fancy holiday home for you two to stay at
Mob!Natasha who, despite her fortune, often books small, low budget holiday trips. Everyone knows those small holiday homes are the best and the cosiest. What kind of mother would Natasha be if she didn’t give you that experience?

hii !! can i request remus lupin x fem!reader with the grumpy x sunshine trope? except the reader is grumpy and remus is sunshine 🎀🎀
a/n: i love this trope!! thanks for requesting!
pairing: sunshine! remus x grumpy! reader
you’re standing in a corner a few inches away from people. you’re currently at a party that your boyfriend begged you to come to. your boyfriend was very social, not as social as his best friends but people knew him. remus was kind ; people like him. you were different. you’re not social as remus, you have a small group of friends and you like it that way. where your boyfriend always has a smile on his face you mostly have a frown, except when you’re with remus.
“you came!” you hear your said boyfriend, remus cheer as he wraps his arms around your frame. you feel a small smile sneak onto your face as you wrap your arms around remus, hiding your face into his chest.
“i said i would.” you yell, over the loud music playing, remus moves closer to your face kissing your cheek. “i know, but i know you hate these things.” remus states, moving back from your cheek, pushing your hair out of your face, with a cheeky smile of course.
“i wanted to see you.” you shrug, grabbing remus hand. he continues to smile. you can’t help but smile back at him. “we’ll stay for an hour, then we can leave.” he promises, as he tugs on your hand to indicate to start walking along with him.
“look who showed up!” you hear sirius, his loud voice teasing you as he taps onto james shoulder, to grab his attention. “shut up, sirius,” you grumbled, you’re not sure if he can hear you but his playful eye roll gives you the idea that he did. “leave her alone, sirius.” you hear remus besides you, as he moves to lightly and jokingly shove sirius aside. “you look lovely.” you hear james compliment kindly from where he stands between sirius and peter. “doesn’t she?” remus yells, spinning you around, as he looks at you with fondness. “rem, stop.” you try to muster a smile, but you're slightly embarrassed, and out of your element.
“oh, someone’s embarrassed?” remus stops spinning you and hugs you from behind, not letting go. “shut up, i hate you.” you crank your neck, to glare at remus. he just smiles and shakes his head. he knows you don’t hate him. you don’t think you ever could. “no you don’t.” he smiles with his teeth, it’s sharp and crooked. you really couldn’t hate remus even if you tried.

hiii! could you please write a regulus black x potter! reader? maybe something like reg and reader secretly going out and getting discovered by James?
thank you!! have an amazing day 💗💗
his muse (pt. one)
Tumblr media
regulus black x reader
fluff / angst
cw: unedited as always 😌, a sex joke but it’s a titanic reference lol, marauders being overprotective, kissing, cuddling, someone may threaten to pull out someone’s teeth and put them on a necklace (it seemed like a very regulus threat), artist!regulus because 🥰
summary: you’re the honorary little sister of the infamous marauders; what happens when they catch you with a certain someone?
notes: hey love, thank you so much for the request!! just so you know, i don’t like to write readers to be related to another character, because i want my readers be able to relate to the ‘reader character’ without altering their preferred fancast for another one based on things like race or ethnicity. that is totally on me for not putting that in my request post and i will do that asap, but i hope you enjoy this anyway <33
more notes: i did get just a tad bit carried away and decided to divide this request into two parts, just to make it less overwhelming for me and y’all as well. anyways, enjoy <333
“oh reggie, paint me like one of your french girls,” you giggled, draping yourself dramatically across regulus’ pristine sheets.
he looked up from his sketchbook, brow furrowed in a way that made you want to kiss him until you both passed out from lack of oxygen.
god, you loved him.
“what?” he asked.
“nothing.”
evan and barty had both left the slytherin dorms, off to some place or another, giving you the perfect opportunity for some alone time with your lovely boyfriend. you’ve made sure to do this at least once a week since you started dating in your fourth year. now that you’ve reached sixth year, the tradition had only grown more cherished; precious were the moments spent with someone you’d been otherwise forbidden to see.
Tumblr media
“he’s dangerous, (y/n),” sirius insisted, only just finished with his dramatic act of fake vomiting. you had made the grave mistake of assuming your friend would have a normal reaction upon hearing who had asked you to the yule ball.
“a slytherin, (y/n), how could you?” james moaned, collapsing onto the auto-man like he was faint in the heart. “you have been my little sister all my life—”
“you met me when you were twelve and we are not related,” you corrected.
james feigned offense. “how dare you question our bond? blood does not matter! we are family and that is that, young lady.”
“leave her alone, the both of you,” remus laughed, throwing an arm over your shoulder and pulling you to his chest. “our little girl had to grow up someday.”
sirius looked appalled. “not with my bastard, slimy, death eater of a brother—”
“he’s not a death eater, we’re fourteen!” you exclaimed, pouting dramatically at the older boy. “just one dance, i promise padfoot, if it’s that weird to you, i’ll never see him again.”
Tumblr media
you lied.
sunlight peaked in through the curtains, the golden rays hitting regulus in such a way that made him look angelic. so focused on his sketchbook, glancing up every few moments to gaze at you like you were something to be revered.
you sat up in his bed, fiddling with the hem of his sweater that lay around your mid thighs; though you loved to, you rarely got the opportunity to wear reggie’s clothes, given sirius would recognize them in an instant. so, you took advantage of these moments whenever they came your way.
you loved wrapping yourself in the soft, strong, warm smell of him: minty cologne, sea salt, and pine trees. the scent was practically woven in the fabric, making everything feel so much softer, so much more him.
you did have a couple shirts and sweaters you’d stolen over the years, but they remained in your dorm at all times.
well, mostly.
it was a moment of stupidity. a dreary saturday morning, a hogsmeade trip, and you had slept in. naturally, you had to rush out of your dorm to get to breakfast in time; but, you didn’t need to change, did you?
why not wear the sweater you had slept in and save yourself a little time?
so, after changing into more appropriate pants, you made your way down the breakfast and sat in your regular spot; in between remus and james, and smack dab across from sirius.
he noticed his brothers favorite sweater the second you sat down.
Tumblr media
“what’s that?”
you’d barely sat down by the time sirius spoke and continued making your morning coffee as the group grew silent around you. finally looking up, you glanced between your friends in confusion.
“what’s what?”
you lifted your sleeve to rub your nose, breathing in quickly through your stuffed up sinuses; stupid fall allergies.
you froze as the familiar sent cooled your insides, eyes darting over to the slytherin table across the great hall.
oh.
that’s ‘what’s what’.
“who’s jumper is that, (y/n)?” james asked, arm draping over your shoulders to tug the sleeve on the other side. “doesn’t look like one of mine—”
“or mine,” sirius chimed.
“or mine,” peter chirped, though you hardly stole borrowed his sweaters anyways (too scratchy).
“it’s mine!”
you were surprised to hear remus’ leap to your defense, as you knew damn well the sweater wrapped around you wasn’t his— still, you weren’t about to question it.
“mhm,” you hummed, taking a sip of your coffee, hoping the boys didn’t notice your shaking hands. “i don’t know what all that third degree was about, but i stole this from moony a month ago.”
Tumblr media
“what’re you thinking about, lovely?”
regulus was suddenly just inches away from you, sketchbook tossed to the side, instead opting to look at his muse more close up.
“nothing,” you mumbled, smiling as he dipped down to kiss your collarbone, working his way up to your lips with featherlight kisses that made you wish you could stay with him forever.
though at this point, everything he did made you wish you could stay with him forever.
“you’re beautiful,” he whispered, eyes scanning every curve and point of your face like a work of art; his work of art, his muse.
he’ll never get tired of that word.
you breathed in deeply, the smell of him practically making you glow like some sort of protection charm; you’d never felt safer than you did with regulus near. you felt untouchable with him, like nothing could ever hurt you.
Tumblr media
“what are you doing here?”
lovely.
a grating voice to disrupt your already terrible day.
“hey,” severus called. “i’m talking to you.”
you spun around, glaring at the greasy haired boy across from you with as much contempt at you could muster. “piss off, severus!” you shouted; you’d never bit back like this before, but the shocked look on his face was worth it. “really, cornering a younger student in an empty hallway? pretty cowardly, don’t you think?”
before you could debate the consequences of your actions, severus’ hand was gripping your cloaks and you were shoved up against the wall.
“you filthy little—”
just as quick as snapes hands were on you, they’d been torn off, and you scrunched to the ground. regulus shoved him up to the wall opposite you.
“defending your little mudblood, huh?”
“shut your filthy mouth about her or i swear on merlins grave, i will rip every single one of your teeth out and put them on a necklace like a string of fucking pearls,” regulus bit, baring his teeth like an emphasis to the threat. “you got that?”
Tumblr media
that night, you ended up in a very similar position to where you were in now; wrapped up in your lovely boyfriends sweater, curled in his arms, and having sweet nothings whispered in your ear.
“y’know, i mean it when i say you are beautiful,” he muttered, pressing a kiss to your temple as he spoke, breath fanning over your face. it tickled, but you didn’t care; you just wanted to hear his voice. “breathtakingly gorgeous, inside and out.”
“really?” you teased, nuzzling your nose further into his chest, arms wrapped around his torso.
“really,” he laughed. “i could stay like this forever.”
you pouted, pulling yourself half on top of him. “but my daft friends just have to get in the way, don’t they?”
you hear a gasp from the doorway.
“did you just call us daft?”

Strawberries
Tumblr media
summary: it’s safe to say you didn’t expect company when you snuck out for a picnic with Regulus, your relationship more forbidden than the forest itself.
content: the marauders basically being your older brothers after you grew up next door to the Potters, protective and angry James and Sirius, Sirius and Regulus still being on bad terms, fluff turned slight angst, short, food, teasing, mentions of Sirius and Regulus’ parents

“So you’ve never read Pride and Prejudice?” You asked, almost offended by your discovery.
“No. Do you happen to remember that my parents are blood supremacists who forbade me from reading muggle literature?” Regulus responded.
“Okay, maybe I forgot. Either way, this is unacceptable. Reggie, it appears we have found our next book to read.” You announced, picking up a strawberry that Regulus had been reaching for.
“Oi! I was gonna grab that one!” He exclaimed, trying to reach for the red fruit, only to have you pull your arm away from him.
“You snooze, you lose,” You said with a shake of your head.
However, right as you went to bite into the sweet berry, Regulus tackled you, his body hovering over yours and your wrists pinned against the picnic blanket laid on the grass.
Throughout being tackled, you somehow managed to continue your hold on the strawberry, refusing to yield to him.
“You could’ve just asked to split it and I would’ve done it, love,” You pointed out, cocking your eyebrow.
“Well, this is much more fun. Isn’t it?” Regulus’s voice dropped to a whisper, his face lowering closer and closer to yours.
“It is…” You breathed out, lifting your head up until Regulus’s lips were pressed against yours, his hair brushing against your forehead.
The blissful silence was broken by a loud shout.
“What the hell is this?!” Sirius yelled, causing the two sixteen-year-olds to quickly break apart, scrambling to opposite sides of the blanket with their eyes wide in horror, the strawberry long forgotten.
You opened your mouth to respond but faltered at the rage burning in Sirius’s eyes.
“What is it Padfo- what in Merlin’s name is going on here?!” James’s eyes fell upon the sight of Regulus and you, his big brother mode immediately activating.
All words of defense and explanation quickly disappeared from your tongue, unsure of how to respond to the obvious rage emitting from the two boys.
“James, Sirius, I... I can explain- we can explain, please-” You stuttered out, struggling to get any words out of your mouth as your panic set in.
“No. No, c’mon Y/N, we’re leaving,” James said, his voice as firm as his grip on your arm as he pulled you off of the blanket, glaring at Regulus and dragging you away from the Black brothers- one of which was frozen in horror, the other seething with rage.
“Y/N-!” Regulus called out, going to stand before falling back from a shove from Sirius.
“What the fuck, Regulus?!” Sirius exclaimed, “Why her? Out of every girl in this school, you chose the one who’s like a little sister to me- is it to get back at me for leaving?”
“It’s not that, Sirius- I…” Regulus faltered.
“What? Spit it out!”
"Listen, I... I really like Y/N- really like her. Please, I'm not doing this out of vengeance, Sirius. I wouldn't even think about hurting Y/N! Siri… I’m not lying to you, I swear," Regulus stuttered out, the childhood nickname accidentally slipping off his tongue, "It's... real and I've never experienced anything like it before.”
“Godric… I just don’t…” Sirius paused, chewing on his lip, “I can’t do this right now.”
Sirius turned around for a moment, but turned to face his brother once more, “We aren’t done, Regulus. But this? This is.”
Regulus sat there speechless as his brother jogged to catch up to James and you, looking down to see the red strawberry sitting on the blanket, miraculously untouched.

Not Half Bad - Marauders x Reader
AN - I'm a few minutes early but happy valentine's day, my loves. I wanted to post something that wasn't crazy romantic because I know today can be pretty lonely. So, enjoy some platonic marauders x reader fluff. This is my first time writing anything like this so please let me know what you think. 1.7k words.
Y/N startled awake, her head throbbing and her eyes swollen from tears. She groaned softly, feeling the weight of exhaustion as she rubbed her face, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. Then, the unmistakable sound echoed through her apartment again.
Bang, bang, bang.
With a resigned sigh, Y/N muttered curses under her breath before she shuffled towards the front door. The harsh hallway light made her squint as she opened the door, taking a moment to register the trio standing before her.
“Come on, you. Out of the way, we’ve got some serious work to do!” James declared, gently nudging Y/N aside to enter her apartment, with Remus and Sirius following close behind.
“What the hell are you doing? It’s practically the crack of dawn!” She exclaimed; her voice still thick with sleep.
“Oh, yeah? And you’d know what time of day it was, would you?” Sirius teased, theatrically throwing open her curtains, allowing light to flood into the room for the first time in days.
“We’re on damage control. Y’know, since we haven’t heard from you in almost a week.” Remus explained, heading straight into the kitchen and flicking the kettle on.
Y/N sighed heavily, feeling a pang of guilt for having shut off herself off from her friends after her recent break up. The end of her relationship had hit her harder than she had ever anticipated, leaving her feeling raw and vulnerable. She hadn’t felt up to facing her friends properly. She had shot them a quick message briefly explaining the situation before shutting off her phone and finding solace in her own company as she grappled with the emotional fallout.
Remus busied himself in the kitchen while he waited for the kettle to boil. He had a tea towel swung over his shoulder as he started washing the dishes that had been piling up in the sink. James was getting the living room straight, opening windows, clearing up the endless piles of scrunched up tissues and fluffing up the sofa cushions.
“You don’t have to do all this – I'm fine!” Y/N protested.
“Stop fussing and just let us help you,” Sirius chimed in, poking his head around the doorway from where he was in the bathroom, “Now, get in here because I’ve just run you a bath.”
Y/N’s protests died on her lips as she relented, allowing herself to be guided into the bathroom by Sirius’s firm but caring insistence. The soothing scent of lavender filled the air as she stepped into the room. Sirius shut the door behind her, allowing some privacy. He had set her some fresh towels and clean clothes on the side, even going as far as to light a few candles. Y/N let out a sigh as she sank into the tub, the warm water washing over her tired body.
After a while, Y/N emerged from the bathroom feeling a bit lighter. She smiled at the three boys, appreciating their practical gestures of support. They had practically cleaned her whole apartment while she was in the bath. It had taken a bit of a hit in the week that she had been moping around. Remus had set her a steaming mug of tea on the coffee table, and she took it into her hands eagerly.
“Feeling better?” he asked, patting the spot on the sofa next to him.
“Much better. Thanks for the rescue” she smiled at each of them, “I owe you guys one.”
“Nonsense.” James dismissed with a wave of his hand, “That’s what friends are for. Plus, I’ve been dying to bring out my superhero cape.”
Remus snorted into his tea, “Superhero cape? More like a tea towel tied around your neck, mate.”
“Hey, it’s all about the dramatic effect, Moony. You should try it some time.” James mock-glared at him.
“I’d pay good money to see that.” Y/N laughed.
“You nearly did!” Sirius remarked, “I literally had to pry it from around his neck before you got out of the bath.”
Y/N burst into laughter at the mental image, shaking her head in amusement, “I can only imagine the heroic struggle.” She said, grinning at James, who rolled his eyes with a good natured sigh.
“Yeah, well, it was a valiant effort on his part,” James admitted, earning a playful elbow jab from Sirius.
It was the first time in a good week or so, that Y/N had laughed properly. She felt her spirits lift with each passing moment, the heaviness that had weighed in her heart for the last week beginning to fade. Their light-hearted banter and playful antics had a way of lifting her spirits, offering a welcomed distraction from her recent troubles. It was only when the boys stood up to leave that the empty feeling in the pit of her stomach started to return.
Sirius noticed her face fall when they started getting ready to leave, each of them shrugging on their coats and slipping into their shoes.
“Don’t worry, we’re coming back.” Sirius reassured her.
“Yeah, you didn’t think that you could get rid of us that easily, did you?” Remus chuckled.
“We’ve just got to nip out to get some stuff but then we’ll be back.” James promised.
“What stuff?” she questioned.
“Ask us no questions and we’ll tell you no lies.” James quipped, playfully tapping her on the nose before swiftly exiting.
A bemused smile played on her lips as she watched her friends disappear. Although they had only been around at her flat for a few hours, it felt eerily empty now that they had gone. Collapsing onto the sofa, she reached for her phone, hesitating before finally switching it on after days of deliberate avoidance. There was the expected flurry of messages from her friends and family checking in on her and she made a mental note to reply to them later on. She quickly deleted a particularly nasty text from her ex before she gave herself chance to read it properly. As the screen blinked back up at her, the date glared back with unexpected significance.
Valentine’s Day.
The realisation hit her and stirred up memories and emotions that she had been trying to suppress. She couldn’t help but feel a twinge of loneliness as she thought back to past Valentine’s Day spent with her now ex-partner. For a moment, she regretted even switching on her phone; ignorance might have been bliss on a day like today. Tears prickled in her eyes and she bit down on her lip in a futile attempt to hold back the flood of emotions.
Just as she had been earlier that morning, she was brought back to reality by the door of her apartment swinging open and James, Remus and Sirius bustling back inside.
“Told you we wouldn’t be long!” James said brightly, though the look soon dropped from his face the second his eyes fell on Y/N.
“Oh, no! What’s happened? Everything okay?” Sirius rushed over and crouched in front of her, so his face was level to where she was slumped on the sofa.
“It’s silly,” she sniffled, “I turned on my phone because obviously I’ve been avoiding it for ages and I saw the date. It’s just... overwhelming.”
Remus moved to sit beside her, his presence a comforting anchor as he place a hand on her shoulder.
“It’s not silly at all, Y/N. Valentine’s Day can be shit. Especially after everything you’ve been through.” he said softly, offering her a sympathetic smile.
James signed, rubbing the back of his neck as he stepped closer, “We came over today because... well we didn’t want you to spend Valentine’s Day alone. We didn’t realise that you didn't even know what day it was. We’ve kind of fucked up really, haven’t we?”
“Don’t be daft.” Y/N wiped the tears away with her sleeve, “You’ve already cheered me up so much just by being here.”
“Let’s not stop now then, eh?” Sirius said, patting her affectionately on the head as he stood up, “We’ve got plenty more planned for this evening. Why don’t you go get yourself freshened up while we get set up in here?”
Y/N smiled gratefully and obliged, making her way to the bathroom. She splashed her face with cool water, letting it wash away the remnants of tears that clung to her skin. As she caught sight of herself in the mirror, she forced a smile onto her face in an attempt to make herself feel better. She quickly ran her hands through her hair and smoothed out the wrinkles in her clothes.
In the other room, the boys had sprung to action. James rummaged through the bags of shopping, his brows furrowed in concentration as he set about preparing dinner. Remus, ever the organiser, rearranged the furniture to create a cosier and more comfortable set up for them. Sirius, with his flair for the dramatic, set about lighting candles and pulled an assortment of decorations from his bag to add a festive touch to the occasion.
As Y/N stepped out of the bathroom, her eyes widened in surprise at the transformation that had taken place in the living room. The warm glow of candlelight danced across the walls, casting soft shadows across the room. Tears of gratitude welled in her eyes and with a shaky breath she made her way to join them.
“Speechless, huh?” Sirius joked gently, a twinkle of amusement in his eyes.
Y/N managed a watery smile, “I don’t even know what to say.”
“Nothing needs to be said.” James stepped in from the kitchen, floral apron tied around his waist.
“Just know that we’ve got your back always, yeah?” Remus chimed in.
With a grateful nod, Y/N settled into her seat at the table, feeling a sense of peace wash over her.
“Nice apron, James.” Y/N teased, unable to contain her laughter.
“What can I say? Real men wear floral.” he quipped, setting down plates of food in front of each of them.
“Ah! I almost forgot!” Sirius stood up quickly from the table and disappeared into the other room.
He returned a few moments later, holding a bouquet of flowers. He presented them to her with a flourish. Y/N gasped in response.
“You really didn’t have to!” she protested, her voice filled with gratitude, “You’ve already done so much for me today!”
“We wanted to.” Remus smiled.
“Besides, we’d be pretty crappy mates if we let you go a whole Valentine’s Day without flowers.” Sirius chuckled.
“Yeah, it’s practically a cardinal sin to neglect such an important tradition.” Remus nodded in agreement.
“See? We’re not completely useless, are we?” James nudged her, grinning.
“Nah, you’re not half bad.” she beamed back at them, “I might even go as far as to say that you’re the best.”

It took the better part of a year, but I've finally figured out where to go with Joyride. A lot of people have been asking for this, so I hope it lives up to your expectations.
Joyride (Part 2)
Part 1
Yandere Ace x GN Isekai Reader
4.8k words
Warning! This contains pretty much every Ace related spoiler btw!
When going into a world you already know everything about, you don’t exactly expect to be surprised by anything. Sure, there will be slight changes and alternate interactions now that you’ve been unceremoniously dropped in, but you had been anticipating for the story to follow all the same beats.
Which is why you were really thrown off when Ace didn’t go his separate way when he was supposed to.
Luffy had succeeded in defeating Crocodile and stopping his plan for dictatorship of Alabasta, but Ace was still here. Granted, having Ace around was hardly the worst thing that could happen, but you didn’t understand what was going on with him.
After your downright bizarre interaction during the little joyride he took you on, you’d honestly had every intention of avoiding him going forward. Then he threw a curveball at you by sincerely apologizing later that night. With everything going on right now he just got a little carried away, that’s all, he won’t harass you about it again. Or so he claimed.
You were skeptical initially, but true to his word, he hasn’t brought up you joining the Whitebeard Pirates since. Between that, and him having an unknown advantage over you by being a favorite character of yours, it was easy to find it within yourself to forgive him. You two have been borderline inseparable since, much to the chagrin of your crewmates.
While Ace hadn’t openly made further attempts to convince you to join his pops’ crew, he’d found a thinly veiled loophole in the form of telling you all kinds of stories about them. You knew this was in and of itself, a method to win you over, but deemed it not worth calling out. Besides, who were you to refuse the opportunity to get some Whitebeard Pirates lore?
There were many late nights filled with quiet conversations about various shenanigans the crew got up to in their free time, of which there were many. An unsurprising fact because of course having that many sibling jam packed onto a ship would turn it into a vessel of chaos.
If you had a weaker resolve, these stories might have won you over. But no, you need to go home.
Even though you weren’t convinced on switching crews, or even just staying here, there was a different problem arising from all your quality time together.
The longer you spoke and goofed around with him, the deeper and more intricate the conversations became, the more human he became to you. Or course, he’d technically always been a human being, but your mind had always registered him (as well as everyone else here) as a “character” first and foremost. A figure in a fictional story which you just so happened to be in temporarily.
Now? After spending so much time with him, aftering seeing him make decisions based off his own experiences and preferences rather than being dictated by some omnipotent author, things have changed. He wasn’t Portgas D. Ace, the fan favorite character from One Piece. He was just Ace, your friend.
With this came something you never saw coming. Guilt. An all consuming, agonizing guilt that picked away at you every single second of the day.
You knew what was to come. You knew what was going to happen to him. What were you doing about it? Absolutely nothing. And for what? For the sake of preserving a story that’s already been altered from your mere presence?
What a disgusting excuse of a friend you were.
The internal conflict you were going through hadn’t gone unnoticed, not when it was taking such a high toll on you. Nami was the first to start grilling you on it. Naturally, she immediately started pointing fingers at Ace as being the cause, which while not wrong, she wasn’t correct in the way she believed herself to be either. It was hardly his fault that you had a heavy conscience.
Sanji had also picked up on your struggles and was very concerned about the bags under your eyes, even offering to make some tea to assist with sleeping. An offer you turned down perhaps more harshly than truly necessary, but being trapped in a deeper sleep sounded awful with the nightmares you’ve been having.
It had been upsetting enough to watch Ace die through a screen, but in your dreams you were right there. It felt so real.
A suffocating heat burned at your skin and seared your lungs with every panicked breath, which only became more frantic as hot blood splattered over your face. Life was rapidly draining from Ace’s eyes as he collapsed into the waiting arms of his now deeply traumatized brother.
Your feet were rooted to the ground, all you could do was stare in horror as he looked up at you with tearful, pleading eyes. “Why?” The word was more so coughed out than spoken, spraying out more blood that he couldn’t afford to lose. An arm extended towards you, the hand locking onto your own. His nails dug into your skin, drawing out blood of your own to mix with his into a revolting cocktail. “You could have stopped this. How could you do this to me?”
The last word was wheezed out and his body went limp as his dead, lifeless eyes stared through you. A soul wrenching scream tore its way out of Luffy’s throat, only to morph into your own as you were mercifully ripped from your slumber.
The screaming damn near gave Ace a heart attack, you’re sure of it. This nightmare had occurred after you and him had become separated from the rest of the group while traversing the desert, and you had found a compact cave for the two of you to pass the night in.
What made it worse was how he reacted. He was so concerned, even fretting over you as you desperately tried to get your breathing under control. The compassion in his eyes had done nothing to comfort you, it only served to further sicken you. Here he was wanting to save you from something as trivial as a nightmare, yet you couldn’t be bothered to speak up on and prevent his upcoming demise.
The guilt was killing you, and the solution was not only clear, but easy. So why couldn’t you bring yourself to just tell him? To plead and beg for him to give up the chase and not throw his life away. Yet your lips remained sealed.
All of these elements came to a boil and demanded your attention, so you did what seemed to be the easiest thing to do in your situation. Drink it away.
Now that Luffy had awoken from his brief coma after fighting Crocodile, Alubarna Palace was hosting a lavish party in celebration and thanks for what everyone had done. And what high end party would be complete without absurd amounts of alcohol?
It started with one, purely to help ease your nerves. However, when it didn’t, you poured yourself another. And then a few more. Zoro had initially been thrilled to have you as a drinking buddy, but apparently even he had his limits and had cut you off.
“The hell’s gotten into you? You’re drinking like you’re trying to run from demons,” the bottle of expensive liquor had been moved out of reach when you tried to go for it again.
“You have no idea,” you slurred out, head spinning from your evening of poor decision making.
Zoro shot you a questioning look, but didn’t press it, likely knowing full well that getting a coherent conversation out of you right now would be impossible. He heaved out a sigh and stood up, “I’m going to get you some water, stay right there.”
Thoroughly defeated, you slumped back into your chair. After all that, you still couldn’t get your dilemma out of your head. Your “demons” continued gnawing at your soul, and all that your drinking had done about it was ensure that you would have a miserable hangover in the morning.
Your head lulled to the side, and you caught sight of a familiar orange hat. Speak of the devil. While you were in the throws of self inflicted misery, Ace was happily taking advantage of all the food being offered. Good for him. He deserved a nice night.
As if acting on its own, your body managed to get up onto its feet. You shambled towards him, doing your best not to fall flat on your face with each uncoordinated step. Whatever invisible force that had been helping you to make the walk to Ace failed you at the last second, and you crashed into him from behind.
“Shit! Wha- Oh, it’s just you,” Ace whirled around, visibly agitated, but his features relaxed when he realized who it was. He appeared to be ready to say more but you cut him off.
“I need to talk to you.”
Ace quirked a brow, “Yeah? What’s up?”
From the expectant look he was giving you, it’s clear that he’s waiting for you to spill your guts here and now. You shook your head, “No, it’s… It’s a secret. We have to go somewhere else.” Realization flashed across his face and he nodded. Fortunately for you, he led the way. You honestly did not think you’d be able to scout out a place for this discussion. You were finally going to come clean and tell him everything before you could sober up and come to your senses.
It was going well. At least it was, until he passed out and took you down with him. You both collided onto the floor with a resounding thud, him on top of you. The hall you’d slipped into was empty, meaning there was no one here to help you.
You groaned as you attempted to move, the fall had hit you harder than it should have thanks to the copious amounts of alcohol in your system. You were also mentally kicking yourself for not seeing this coming. He was eating when you stumbled into him, of course it was only a matter of time before this happened.
Whatever, there isn’t time to be bemoaning a minor inconvenience. You manage to shimmy out from under him and use the wall to get to your feet. Ace is snoring on the floor, not a care in the world. Hopefully he’ll wake up soon.
Taking a look around, you see a door just a couple steps away. You inch your way over to it and try the knob. It clicks open, and you peer in. Looks like some sort of guest room, and it’s empty. Perfect.
Pushing the door open fully, you turn back to Ace. He’s still asleep, but you don’t want to wait around for him to wake up on his own and run the risk of being seen. You lean down to grab the closest part of him, his right foot, and pull. You’re not sure if he’s actually heavy, or if you’re just too drunk for this, but you tip over while trying to do this and fall flat on your ass.
“Huh?” Ace’s head snapped up and he looked around owlishly. The second his eyes connected with yours, he remembered what he was doing before his narcoleptic tendencies took the wheel. He laughed, a light blush on his face, as he got to his feet, “Sorry about that, you alright?”
“I’m fine, get in here,” you urged him to hurry, which he did. In the time it took you to stand again, Ace had already slipped into the room, closed the door, and flicked on a lamp so you two wouldn’t be talking in complete darkness. You eye the door for a moment, then grab a chair and drag it over to wedge it under the doorknob. Someone walking in on the conversation you were about to have would be something of a worst case scenario.
Ace watched this curiously, “Is everything okay?”
This probably looked weird, but oh well, it’s about to get a lot weirder. You decide to sit on the bed and motion for Ace to join you, which he does. You take one of his hands in both of yours and stare at him intensely, “I need to tell you something. It’s going to sound insane, but you need to promise me you won’t tell anyone about this.”
He repeated his previous question, asking again if everything was okay, but you cut him off, “Promise me, please!”
Your desperation got through to him, “Okay, I promise! What’s going on?”
Here goes nothing. You take a deep breath and take the leap, “You need to stop going after Blackbeard.”
Ace recoiled immediately, and if you hadn’t been holding onto his hand for dear life, he probably would have backed away from you. “What? I can’t do that, why would y-”
“Let me finish!” You snapped at him, only to immediately regret it. You sighed, “Please. There’s more, please let me finish talking first, and then you can talk.”
While he did not look happy about it, he did relax his shoulders and settled back into the bed. You took this as your cue to continue, “You need to stop going after Blackbeard because you will die if you do.” Ace exhaled sharply and rolled his eyes at this, assuming that this was coming from a place of fear and doubt.
“I know this because,” you took in a shuddering breath, steeling yourself for what was to come. “I know this because in the world that I came from… This world is a story.”
Ace stares at you wide eyed and slack jawed. He laughed, but was very clearly uncomfortable, “I, uh, I think you’ve had a little too much to drink tonight. How about I take you back to your room to sleep it off, okay?”
He tried to stand, but you yanked him back down, “No! I’m not drunk! Well, I mean, I am, but I know what I’m talking about! I can prove it.”
His expression was nothing short of incredulous, but he indulged you, “Yeah, okay, sure. Go ahead, prove it.”
“You’re hunting down Blackbeard because he murdered Thatch so he could steal his devil fruit,” you started light. Ace had told you about Thatch being the one he was avenging, but he’d never mentioned the devil fruit before, likely not deeming it an important enough detail. His brows knit together and his eyes drifted upwards as he racked his brain to remember if maybe he actually had said something about it.
“Before you were with Whitebeard, you were captain of the Spade Pirates. Your first member was Masked Deuce, who you met while being stranded on an island together. It’s where you found your devil fruit and built Striker,” he hadn’t told you anything in regards to his old crew, and his face reflected that. You definitely had his attention now.
“You and Luffy were raised by mountain bandits because Garp couldn’t raise you two himself. It wasn’t just you guys, though, you had another brother named Sabo, but he was killed when he tried to set sail and got shot down,” at this point, you were saying whatever came to mind with no regard to whether or not it was a good idea to say this right now. You couldn’t bring yourself to keep looking him in the eye, so you settled for staring at his hand in yours. It was completely slack.
“Your parents are Portgas D. Rouge and Gol D. R-”
Before you could finish the sentence, Ace’s free hand clamped over your mouth with such ferocity that you almost fell off the bed. Forcing yourself to make eye contact again, you see that his are blown wide and wild. The color has been drained from his face and he looked physically ill from hearing everything you just threw at him.
An extremely tense moment passed with nothing to be heard beyond his labored breathing. Then, he hesitantly let go of your face and with a shaky voice said, “Okay. I’m sorry. I believe you. What… What’s going to happen if I keep pursuing Blackbeard?”
You attempted to swallow the lump in your throat, but it refused to go away, “When you catch up with him, you’ll fight, but lose. Your powers are no match for his, you don’t stand a chance against him. After your loss, he turns you in to the marines.
“Because of who your father is, they decide to make an example out of you and sentence you to death.”
“That bastard turns me in and I get executed?” He sounds like the wind has just been knocked out of him. Disbelief and bitterness are the two most prevalent emotions in his tone, but many others brew beneath the surface.
“Not exactly,” it’s true that he gets turned in and killed, but it’s nowhere near that simple and straightforward. “Luffy comes to your rescue at Marineford, and so does Whitebeard and a lot of his crew.”
Before you could go more into detail, Ace speaks up, “They… W-Why would they do that?”
“Why would they- You have to ask?!” Your voice raises and you have to remind yourself of just how much character development he has to go through in that arc to finally realize and accept the fact that he’s genuinely loved. “Because you’re family, their family! They care about you and don’t want to see you die!”
Your outburst shocked him, but not as much as seeing you start to cry did. His hand is abandoned and you lurch forward to bring him into a suffocatingly tight hug, “Y-You are so loved, you know that? They l-love you so much! A lot of people do! I do! We all want to see you live and be happy!” You limply hang off of him as more tears bubble to the surface, greedily taking the chance to escape with every sob as you finally let out everything you’ve been keeping in. Ace makes no move to return your embrace, he just sits there stiff as a board.
“A-And, at that battle, you’re killed by Admiral Akainu while protecting Luffy. He’s devastated by it, being forced to watch you die hurts him so bad,” you cling onto him tighter upon feeling him flinch from your words. “Whitebeard dies there too.”
“What?! How could anyone kill him? That can’t be right!” You’re wrenched off Ace violently and his stare is almost as unhinged as it was when you said his parents’ names.
“Blackbeard does it,” Ace freezes at this. “That should give you an idea of how strong he is. If he can kill Whitebeard, fighting you is nothing to him. Besides, you of all people would know how hard it is to kill him,” you chuckle but it’s humorless, empty even.
A heavy stretch of silence follows after that. Ace’s eyes don’t leave your face for even a second, desperately searching for anything that would tell him that this is all one big, sick joke. But there’s nothing of the sort.
Slowly, he releases your shoulders and he shifts away from you to rest his head in his hands. Without his support, you allow yourself to fall back onto the bed. Between all the alcohol and your emotional outburst, you’re exhausted and want nothing more than to sleep. You try to force yourself to stay awake, but it feels like an insurmountable task.
“Hey, Ace?” There’s no answer, but you continue anyway, “I’m sorry. I know that was a lot. If, um… If you don’t believe me about knowing what’s going to happen, stick around until after we set sail again. Bon Clay- Mr. 2- is going to bring the Going Merry over here so that we don’t have to backtrack. Marines will be all over the place, but he sacrifices himself so that Luffy and his crew can get away. Once they’ve lost the marines, Nico Robin will reveal herself to have been hiding on the ship and joins the crew.”
Ace continues to not react to what’s being said, you’re not even sure he’s listening to you at this point. As much as you want to comfort him, your limbs feel like lead and your head is swimming. The last thing you see is the jolly roger of the Whitebeard’s staring you down as you fade into darkness.
Consciousness comes back to you slowly. Painfully so. Before you can even make out your surroundings, you’re assaulted by the worst headache of your life. The stabbing pain behind your eyes is crippling, all you want is to retreat back to the comfort of sleep, but you know that’s not going to happen.
It doesn’t help that your mouth is so dry that you feel like you’re back in the desert. One hand comes up to gingerly massage your eyes. The action brought more discomfort than relief, but it did clear up your sight a little.
As your senses ebb back into you, you hone in on the pressure all over your body. It takes considerable effort, but you manage to lift your head enough to take a look. Your nose is less than an inch from bumping into someone else’s. Chopper’s to be exact. He was curled up into your side and using your chest as a pillow. Looking past him, Luffy was sprawled across your lap, belly up. Both of them were still asleep.
You prop yourself up on one arm. Chopper shifts, but doesn’t wake. Off to your side is a bedside table with a glass of water on it. Oh, thank God. Using the arm you aren’t propped up with, you grab it and bring the cup to your lips. The water is divine, an absolute blessing for your dry throat.
As you enjoy your drink, your eyes glance around to observe the rest of the room. It’s the one you all have been staying in since saving Alabasta. Most of your friends are in their respective beds, except for Chopper and Luffy, obviously. Zoro was also not in his bed, instead being slumped over in a chair next to your own.
Your eyes flicker over to the massive windows of the room, and you spot Ace sitting in the windowsill. From the way he’s positioned, he appears to be awake already. Your gaze narrows as you focus on him. Something tickled at the back of your mind, demanding to be remembered. But what?
“Y-You are so loved, you know that? They l-love you so much! A lot of people do! I do! We all want to see you live and be happy!”
The water going down your throat is suddenly going out of it when you choke. Memories come back and hit you like a train as you realize what exactly it is you did last night.
Naturally, this wakes up Chopper and Luffy, who are both jolted from their once peaceful sleep by you choking on your drink. Chopper immediately starts to panic, “AH! Don’t die, (Y/N)!”
It was crucial that you speak to Ace again, but it seemed like the world itself was committed to making sure that didn’t happen. Ace slipped out of the room while everyone was fussing over you, and it honestly felt like he was avoiding you now. Everytime you thought you might be able to catch him alone, either he vanishes, or someone else comes out of nowhere to drag you away.
Today was the day you all set sail from Alabasta, and while that did put you in close proximity with Ace, it also put everyone else within earshot of you two. And considering the delicate nature of what you needed to talk about, that was extremely inconvenient.
The only good thing was that the events following leaving Alabasta played out exactly how they were supposed to. Hopefully that meant that Ace would believe you and give up hunting down Blackbeard, but you won’t be able to confirm that unless you speak with him.
You were so stressed that you’d barely been able to focus on Robin being here. She “introduced” herself to you as if she hadn’t had an extremely uncomfortable run in with you in an alleyway back in Rainbase, but all you could manage was a half-assed handshake before excusing yourself.
For probably the fifteenth time today, you checked to make sure that Striker was still tied to the Merry. It was, much to your relief. But where was Ace hiding? You haven’t seen him since Robin showed herself.
The stress of trying and failing to corner him was doing nothing to help with your hangover, your head felt like it was about to explode. Did you still have Advil in the bag you got isekai’d here with? Maybe. Pushing off the railing, you march to where your room is while praying that you’re right about the painkillers.
You open the door without much thought, only to stop dead in your tracks when you catch sight of Ace rummaging through your belongings and stuffing them into his backpack. The door opening did briefly make him stop and peer over his shoulder to see who it was, but the second he saw it was you, he went right back to pillaging.
“Can I help you? Why are you robbing me?” You stomp over to where he’s crouched down and shove his shoulder.
“I’m not robbing you, I’m packing for you,” Ace mumbled, sounding lost in thought.
“Why would you be packing for me? Actually, you know what? That’s the least of my concerns right now, we need to talk about last night.”
“We’ll talk about it later, not here.” He still hasn’t properly faced you, and you were getting sick of only making eye contact with his tattoo and not him.
“Where else would we talk about it?!” You hissed.
Seeming content with his work, he stood up and kicked the dresser drawer shut, “On the Striker. Or maybe the Moby Dick, I guess. I’m going back and you’re coming with me.”
You can’t believe what you’re hearing, “Excuse me?”
“I’m going back to the Moby Dick, and you’re coming with me.” Ace had finally turned to face you. His eyes were sunken and vaguely bloodshot.
The sight catches you off guard, “Did you sleep at all last night?”
He shook his head, “No, we’re going to have to stop somewhere else to sleep before going the rest of the way back home.”
“Ace, I’m not going with you. Look, I’m happy that you’re calling off your hunt, relieved honestly, but I’m staying here.” You will ideally be figuring out how to go home sometime soon, there’s no sense in hopping around from crew to crew now.
One of his eyes twitched, and he looked exasperated, “You can’t stay here. You aren’t safe here.”
“What are you-”
“Let me finish,” the words were spoken calmly, but very firm. “I don’t think you understand how serious this is. You apparently know everything about this world and what’s going to happen in it, do you have any idea what will happen to you if word gets out about this?”
“You’re the only person I’ve told, so as long as you keep your mouth shut, I’ll be fine.”
“Until you get drunk again and tell someone else, then what?” His words were just as scathing as his gaze.
Your face flushed in shame, “That won’t happen again.”
“You don’t know that!” Ace snapped at you, then sighed and dragged a hand down his face, “This is for your own good. Nothing good will come from anyone else learning about this. If it ever got back to someone like Big Mom, she would send every single one of her children after you so she could have you on her side. And that’s the nicer option. I’m sure the marines would be more than happy to kill you off so that no one else could have you if they can’t.”
Throughout this entire conversation, his face had remained uncomfortably neutral, but now it cracked. Fondness peaked through the exhaustion as his expression softened ever so slightly. He steps forwards and brings you against him in a crushing embrace. His skin is hot to the touch, effectively chasing away any chill that you may have had.
“You said you wanted to see me live, and I want to see you live, too.” The words are hushed, you wouldn’t have been able to hear him if he hadn’t been speaking right next to your ear.
Reluctantly, he pulls himself away. His face is serious again, “We’re leaving tonight, be ready to go.”
“But-”
“If you don’t come willingly, I will make you. The only thing that you resisting will accomplish is making this messier than it needs to be. Even if you don’t like this now, you will thank me for it later.”
Ace spins on his heel and heads for the door. All you can do is stand there gawking at him as he leaves. Just before the door closes behind him, he spares a glance over his shoulder to say, “I’ll see you tonight.”

How would Ciel feel if he had a fem s/o who wore gothic Lolita style dresses?
Stylish Choices - Ciel Phantomhive
Tumblr media
A/N: I had to search this one up to be honest lol. I haven’t heard of these dresses before but I absolutely love them now that I know what they are! Hope this turned out ok <3
Personally I think Ciel would love your clothing style
He loves the way you look in your dress, how puffy yet form-fitting it is
Ciel likes the way the dark colors bring out your eyes
And it’s a plus that he also enjoys wearing darker colors, so the two of you tend to match coincidentally
It doesn’t matter how long or short the dress is, he loves how gorgeous you are in it
You’re just as ‘edgy’ and ‘mysterious’ as he is in the way you both present yourselves, and it is just so aesthetically pleasing

| This’s technically based off of a story I’m working on but because of where I have it placed in the timeline this idea with Duke (who’s who I thought of originally for it) wouldn’t really fit because Duke wouldn’t be old enough yet so yeah. (picture source: new talent showcase #1 comic)

Beg. NOTES: This is the first time I’ve ever written either Duke or Antagonist Red Hood (as opposed to just Jason or Red Hood making nice) so bare with me I’m still figuring them out, especially Duke. Also I am going to quit this app if it keeps deleted my shit, omfg.

Other notions notwithstanding you’re of the opinion Gotham looks its best right before sunset. The city’s ever present shadows coming out of hiding to climb up the horizon and take over the sun were incredibly fitting considering who kept vigil of the place. And you loved the way the weaker heat felt against your skin on cooler days like this one before you blended into the lack of light that came at nightfall.
There was just something to be said about two forces so intrinsic to the universe meeting. Of light breeze and dwindling blaze. Of sitting near the edge of a roof, feet almost dangling over the side of too dangerous, and taking it all in.
Of the blaring of cars in the late rush of the oncoming evening and the way the air shifts just a little to your left. Natural flow blocked by some anomaly. Out of place but easy enough to overlook. Too bad to whichever cape’s appeared that you’ve been listening out for that particular party trick for the last half a year. Although it admittedly wasn’t something you worried about during the day.
“Let me guess? Hands in the air?”
“Hell no,” a voice scoffs. “I’m just here as a concerned party. If I were some cop I wouldn’t’ve even let you talk before I had you in cuffs. Knee in your back too probably.”
A shrug of your shoulder is a decent enough answer in your book. You don’t feel like adding to the list of vigilantes you regularly interact with - more acceptable than the police though they were. Not even a little.
“No disrespect, but get to the point. We both know you didn’t start lurking on me just cause.”
He kisses his teeth, you can’t tell whether it’s out of irritation or not.
“Fine. I found you out. A crime lord? Really?”
There it is. You turn to him then, immediately caught up by how bright his costume is even against Gotham’s sun. Everything in the city was just a little askew and the way the sun beat down on y’all was no exception, but he somehow came across brighter.
He’s particolored yellow against the dark gothic backgrounds of your old-as-sin apartment complex, not hiding in the shadows or completely out in the open, but a third secret option: managing to be swallowed by them without trying regardless. The leftover light in the sky doing nothing to thwart how well he’s hidden. Like a moth to the dark he still manages to blur just at the corner of your vision, dark tendrils crawling up his form and sinking near seamlessly into his suit; clashing colors ombreing and turning parts of it flaxon.
“I wasn’t aware you were my keeper.”
The idea of craning your head any longer isn’t exactly appealing, and it’s not as if you’d be able to do anything if he tried something, so you look back out over the city eyes narrowing when he speaks.
“Hood might keep a close eye on the Narrows, and I might even appreciate it sometimes, but over here is still my territory.”
“Right,” you grunt. That wasn’t exactly the answer you were gearing up for. You’d expected something along the lines of his ‘boss’ having sent him. “Well what gave me away then?”
“We knew you had to have been from North considering Hood’s change in visiting pattern was only half an inch outside of the Alley, but me?” He steps out of the shadows and looking at him makes your eyes burn even without him using his powers. Bright colors in Gotham should be damn outlawed. “Hoodie and mask or not. There’s only three women with that accent in the Narrows, Y/n. I checked for multi citizenship from areas with Caribbean dialects, then found your mom, which led me to you since she was too old to be messing with the Red Hood.”
“Fuck,” you curse in a rush, gaping at the escaping light in the sky.
“Yeah, you should really work on masking that.”
“Shit.” You had thought you were. “I made sure I was yanking the whole time, there's no way. You must’ve followed me home or something.”
“Bet.”
That’s all he says. No follow up proposal, no fluffing up his sentence to cover for being called out, nothing. Just a cocky upturn of one corner of his mouth and that self assured silence.
“…Fuck.”
“Yeah,” he slips down to your left, sitting beside you. “It’s hard for you to get rid of how you elongate your a’s. It’s a super distinct ‘ah’ sound if you know what to look for and I just so happen to know. But don’t worry I haven’t told Batman yet.”
“Yet?”
“Yes, yet. I might not be the oldest hero on the block but I know bad decisions when I see them.”
“Make your fair share, have you?”
Your murmur comes out more defensive than you want. First he was telling you you couldn’t hide your accent for shit - despite having practiced extensively with Hood - and now he was telling you The Batman wanted in your business. Fuck indeed.
Would you go to jail for being associated with a known criminal? Does dating a killer count as accessory to every one of his crimes? Can you believably argue ignorance of his actions? These really do feel like questions you should’ve asked beforehand.
There’s the distinct impression he’s rolling his eyes under that visor when Signal responds next.
“Hilarious, but this isn’t about me. It’s about whether you know what you’ve gotten yourself into,” he laughs a little when you scowl. “I’m just saying. You're not the Bonnie to his Clyde - or whatever cutesy metaphor you wanna use - you haven’t done anything offensable. It's not too late you can’t get out.”
You scoff quietly and go back to watching the night’s hues slowly swallowing the day's light whole. “Who says I want out?” It’s pretty the way the colors swirl. Like a fight.
“Why wouldn’t you?” He looks away from you frowning, marring what you can see of his face, before holding his hand up. “No wait, don’t answer that, just hear me out. I get it - wanting to help - I really do and I’d be lying through my teeth if I said I didn't support it. But if you don’t know what you’re about, leave while you still can. This superhero thing gets less about creed and more about survival the further you get sucked into it and once the rest of the Bats are onto you that’s it.”
Oh that would definitely be ‘it’, but not tonight. Tapping the screen of your otherwise forgotten phone shows the thirty six minutes of time you've got before seven o'clock to get to where Hood asked you to meet near the city hall district.
“I’m sorry, do you have something better to do than listen to me trying to save your life?”
You grimace lightly, “Listen, I appreciate the concern but if you're not going to do anything but tell me shit I already know I’m just- gonna go.”
“Alright, I know a cape tracking you down ain’t fun but come on-” he cuts himself off so fast his teeth audibly clink together then all at once he’s standing again.
You tense yourself, breath catching in your throat, and roll around so you can see where he’s facing. There’s a second where nothing meets you but the cresting shadows and bronze lighting desperately spreading its fingers over gravel. It’s quiet save for the swooping breeze then Signal twitches. It’s like a chill has gone through his body, like something tugged on wrong when somebody’s hand is in your hair.
An ice struck down your spine type of grimace that has you cringing in sympathy.
Just as Signal steps fully in front of you the shadows around the concrete bulkhead a few feet away stretch outward before materializing into something person shaped. Signal shivers again like he can feel the elasticity.
“Narrows! Funny seeing you here,” a harsh mechanized voice sounds. Dark tactical gear slowly becomes discernible from the shade as the person moves closer until that telltale flash of red greets you both.
Your breath un-catches and you breathe out harshly through your nose, clambering to your feet. He was ten minutes too early and miles away from the southeast side.
“Not really, considering I live here and all, but whatever.”
In response the guy takes another step closer. Signil’s hand twitches but he doesn’t move for the eskrima you all know is at his back.
“Right, well, I don’t really appreciate people messing with my informants.”
“I’d suggest not meeting them so out in the open then,” he gives a blight shrug.
The newest rooftop occupant shakes his head with a low chuckle.
“I wasn’t. You guys are just nosy and -uh- what am I forgetting?” He snaps his fingers, somehow managing to make it sound incredibly obnoxious. “Oh, that’s right! I was also in civies. What’s next, you guys gonna bombard the owner of the bodega I shop at too?”
“I wasn’t bombarding her. I was passing on a message.”
Hood nods and his voice reverberates in a low growl through the modulator when he hums. “Mmm, okay well. Y/n?”
“Message received,” you brush some roof gravel from your clothes still trying to decide how you feel about him coming to your ‘rescue’ like this.
“Well you heard the lady, Narrows. See ya later.”
“Listen man, I’m not trying to fight if I don’t have to, but do you really think this’s a good idea?”
“You know what, Signal? I like you so I’ll keep that noted, but you tell Daddy Bats if he forces the issue it’ll officially become my business. Now kindly fuck off, the suns setting.”
There’s a pause where the two of them just stare one another down and then Signal crosses his arms, feet planted.
“If I don’t?”
“Wow,” Jason groans, head falling into his hands for a beat before he looks back up. The blank face of the helmet doesn’t give anything away but the way he lets his body slump, hands falling to his sides, is telling enough. As much as you like Signal you kinda agree. “How does he put up with you?”
The vigilante shrugs, “He couldn’t stop me if he wanted; better to just get in the passenger’s seat.”
“Poetic,” he scoffs. “Alright, let me put it this way. You're a smart kid, you know nothing’ll happen if she’s seen with some unknown white guy but what about when people catch on that Batman’s interested in her? What then?”
It takes a second, and Signal doesn’t uncross his arms, but his shoulders lower and he shifts his weight to one side.
“Us poking around is more dangerous for her than your civilian identity, I got it.” He huffs. You can see his grimace even from behind. “But that doesn’t mean I got to trust her with you.”
“Wrong.” Jason rises back to his full height with a shake of his head. “This isn’t up for debate. She’s not going anywhere.”
You jerk forward, walking a few steps in front of Signal so you can stand to the side of him while still being seen by both males, scowl taking over your features.
“She - if anybody’s curious - does still possess the ability to make her own decisions. I know what I’m doing, I don’t need a babysitter.”
Signal turns to you with the most dubious head tilt. “You’re sure you know what you're doing?”
You cross your arms, “Fuck you, I’m figuring it out.”
A beat goes by of everyone collectively doing their best impression of a gaggle of directionless mimes before Signal groans.
“Say I believe you. How exactly do you expect me to keep Batman off of your tail when he figures your identity out?”
When Hood laughs it’s so hard the responder crackles in and out of clarity. He waves Signal off. “I’ll deal with him, don’t sweat it.”
The way Signal’s pressing his weight forward says for all the world that he would very much like to sweat it, but he still sighs anyway, dropping his arms to unclip his grapple. He looks to you for a second time.
“You’ll tell me if anything happens?”
The response you give is mostly shrug.
“Sure, Kid, whatever, you’ll be the first one I call,” you throw out while glaring in the general direction of Jason’s eyes. In any case, Signal being added to the list was better than Batman.
The diurnal bat accepts your words with a small smile, shoots Jason what you can only assume to be a warning look, and then swings off with an elated whoop to switch shifts with the rest of the clan.
“And don’t follow me like that again, thanks!” you call out to the vigilante’s retreating form. Mostly though the words are for Jason who’s managed to tuck himself back near the shadows, setting sun washing over him from behind and making him look a lot like a red dahlia set ablaze.
“Did you hear me good?” With the other gone you allow yourself to turn to Jason headlong.
“Y/n-”
“Nope. No,” you parry, moving closer. “What happened to ‘meet at city hall’?”
“You weren’t moving,” he throws out while pushing off the concrete to intercept you. His hands glide up your arms till he can grasp onto your forearms and turn you around, hold more cradle than control as he guides you to the wall.
You let him do it but the furrow in your brows doesn’t budge. The mask, red and frustratingly unyielding, does much the same with far less effort.
“Now how,” you click your tongue. “Did you know that?”
The second your back brushes along the wall he stops responding, helmet tipping this way and that.
“He didn’t come anywhere near touching me,” you roll your eyes. “Did you put a tracker on me?”
Jason shrugs, doesn’t bother answering you in any direction.
“What were you two getting all yuppy about?”
The corner of your mouth twitches downward and you don’t bother fixing it.
“Hood,” you ground out, body a tense obstruction as you get in his face enough he can’t keep up his examination.
In turn Jason doesn’t give an inch but the sound that comes out of the modulator is harsh, likely just a heavy sigh, but your fists ball regardless; too keyed up to parse out the difference.
“Your find my phone app works perfectly fine.”
“Oh,” you shift your gaze away from glowing eyes to look at the moon overlapping some of the last remnants of the sun's rays, features evening out. He waits until you slump back into the wall to speak next.
“You done?”
Lips pursed you give into that deadpan tone with a tiny shrug.
“Yeah I’m done.”
A beat or five goes by, you’re not sure cause you’re not watching, before he sighs shoulders coming in and out of your peripheral.
“C'mon Slick,” Jason intones quietly. He reaches to the back of the helmet and releases the catch. His brows are practically furrowed over his domino when you’re finally able to get a good look at him and he tucks the helmet into his side, pointing at you with his free hand. “I’m just watching out for you. You have got to keep yourself outta trouble.”
“Please I would hardly count that as ‘trouble’,” you push his hand away and slip off around him to walk to the roof access door. “And you told them I was your informant, really?”
You don’t react to the ‘oh my god’ he breathes out behind you but you do let the door close in his face when you walk into the stairwell.
It’s petty but the name of the game currently seems to be how petty can you get so at least you aren’t breaking any rules.
You've already made it halfway to the hallway entrance when Jason flings the heavy metal open with a low curse. “Would you rather the alternative?”
“I would rather a partner who trusts me.”
The door slams shut and the only thing lighting the way is the sickly colored lights, the palest possible imitation of the now sleeping sun, and the scarcely lit red EXIT hanging above the top landing. None of that manages to hinder how open Jason's body language has become or stop you from reading the hurt from him when you chance a second long glance backward.
“I do trust you- just not against a cape. Not right now.”
“Hmph.” You don’t stop or turn around but you slow your gait so you’re not thundering down the steps anymore. “But not never?”
“Evidently,” he grunts, coming down the stairs in that oddly silent way that doesn’t even make the air being displaced under his feet echo. “Now what the hell’s got you so up in arms?”
“There’s nothing ‘up’ with me.” The hall door opens by your hand a sliver of the way before one of Jason’s hands clasps over yours on the lever and forces it back into place. It makes you jump, he hadn’t sounded so close.
The click of the latch bolt sounds suspiciously final. You puff out a light breath. It hits the door in one streamlined wave of nerves. In the meantime Jason’s body presses along the length of your back like he belongs there; it’s so natural. You shiver and relax your hand on the handle. Allow it to slip off with his own when he lets go.
“Aren’t we supposed to be working on this shit? Talk to me, will you?”
Rocking back on your heels to mold into his warmth you close your eyes, head falling onto his chest.
“If I don’t?”
He matches your whisper with one of his own, words nearly coiling around you with his delivery.
“If there’s zero stubborn people in the world then you’re dead, Y/n. We both know I can’t make you do fuck all.”
“Hmm,” you scoff quietly. “If there’s no stubborn people left you’d have to be dead too, you know?”
“I don’t think I’d mind being dead with you too much,” Jason says while knocking your heads lightly together. It makes you snort and you turn around with another sigh to face him.
“Corny ass,” you say. Jason shrugs.
“For you, yeah.”
“Oh my god,” you laugh at the smile that tugs at his lips. “When did we trade places?”
“Beats the hell outta me,” he steps in front of the nothing you’re staring at so you’ll stop avoiding his gaze. “Now talk.”
You track the bend of his mouth. The easy smile that’s only now - finally, after a year - becoming real and you fold faster than a snapped leg in an interrogation.
“The tracking scares me,” you let out in a rush.
He tenses, that grin disappears, and you want to swallow your words back.
“We can cut the tracker-”
“Nah that’s not what I meant. I don’t…mind it when it’s you. I know what you’re doing with the information, but…” you swallow, looking over then up at the door.
Out of the corner of your eye the thin line of his lips turns into a grimace and then a sneer.
“But Batman,” he grunts and you nod, humorless laugh falling past plush lips.
“Yeah, the fucking Batman - and I know you’ve got me and I’m not gonna harp on it cause I don’t wanna stimulate the little hate boner you’ve got for the man - but this is…a lot.”
Jason bites the inside of his cheek and you watch him stew over what you’ve just said. His forehead creases and his brows raise and his frown somehow gets deeper and then he inhales.
“It’s not too late for you to get out.”
His jaw clenches like he’s just tasted something unappealing but won’t admit it and you raise a brow.
“Huh. You know Signal said the same thing?”
It takes a beat before he can pry his mouth open.
“Did he?”
His voice is too soft like you’re about to tell him someone died and it makes your heart rattle.
“Yup,” you say, voice still hushed.
“And?”
You feel the exact second your gazes meet. Feel so intricately the way watercolor blue meets copper brown as if it was a physical thing. The domino over his eyes does nothing to mask that natural intensity.
A deep breath.
“And I’m in this until it blows up in my face, consequences be damned, if the Bat’s not willing to put in the effort then I will. We deserve that much.”
“The Alley does,” he concedes slowly, “but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice yourself for it.”
You’d thought you’d known longing before Jason Todd but watching him now you know with certainty the man wears it better than you ever could. A fitting but unflattering cloak. Effective in hiding against the moon and her subjects alike.
“Neither do you.”
He glances away. You can tell because your breaths get clearer. The rush of being known flushed from your system.
Jason laughs once, more a grunt than anything. “Let’s not get into that.”
“Fine,” you shrug. “I'm just saying though. I don’t have to do everything - and I’m not going to. That self sacrificing shit is your deal not mine - but I’m still a part of this. I’m straight, okay? I don’t need you getting me out.”
“Alright,” he hums and indicates the door with his chin. “Go inside, I'll meet you in a minute.”
You’re tired, you want to be done, so you were moving before he was even mid sentence. You’d come directly from work to the roof so-. Right. The roof. Your bed would have to wait for a couple more minutes.
You stop and turn back to face him. “What about city hall?”
He waves you off with a blithe movement.
“Eh, it’s not so time sensitive we can’t put it off for one day. Now go. I gotta contact my guys, but I’ll cook tonight.”
“Oh will you?” you joke, holding out your arms in surrender and making to back out of the stairway. You’re reaching around to grasp at the handle when he starts forward with a tiny stumble and gets a hold around your waist.
“Hold on. I - ah -” his licks his lips, “I wanna kiss you.”
“Oh,” you giggle, gaze flicking momentarily down to slick lips. “Sure.”
The both of you stall on what to do for a second. His grip is loose and your hands flutter between his face and shoulders - too scared to land and too eager to touch all at once. Eventually though Jason scoffs at himself and gives you an encouraging squeeze that has you melting, and it doesn’t seem all that challenging anymore.
You laugh into the kiss he gives you, settling on having one hand cupping his jaw and the other wrapped around his bicep. The momentum of your lips is smoother this go round. Your teeth still clink together but there’s no awkward stop-start to figure out how to angle your heads or not bump noses.
When you pull apart it’s genuine disappointment that tugs at your chest that you can’t meet his eyes.
“Bye,” he murmurs.
You shake your head. “In a minute...”
The urge for another shorter kiss has you meeting again and Jason’s hands pull you closer like he’s trying to push you into the gaps of his ribcage and his mouth moves against yours with the severity of a promise. This time when you seperate the tug seems harsher. You think he feels it too with the way his breath stutters but he recovers faster. Gets in an extra squeeze at your sides before letting go. You try not to make the disappointment that flares at that noticeable.
“Bye,” you say. It doesn’t matter that he’ll be crawling through your window in less than thirty minutes, you peck him on the lips one more time anyway before dropping your hands and disappearing out into the hall. “And tell Oyoung to give me back my damn mini. I know she took it; how’s she just gonna steal a whole taser like that?”
Jason’s snort at your words follows you into brighter lighting - more reminiscent of the moon’s cool unwavering roundness than the sun's sharp edges - and the short trek back to your apartment feels weightless.
End.NOTES: Hope you enjoyed!!
Alt Paragraph: “Bye,” you say. Can you do Black Butler please? Maybe Ciel Phantomhive taking care of Elizabeth's younger brother who is around 4? Maybe Ciel let's the (name) eat sweets with him and drink Earl Grey tea? And can the end be fluffy like (name) falls asleep on Ciel, and when Sebastian tries to take (name) off of Ciel, Ciel is just like "no" (you don't have to do this btw)

I fucking got you fam

Fluff, platonic (obviously)
A day at the phantomhive manor
Tumblr media
Why did he agree to this?
Little (name) Midford was just as happy as his big sister and was always excited to see his future brother in law, though the four year old didn't exactly understand that they weren't already married.
"Hello Mr. Sebastian!" (Name) said happily as he held the butlers hand, the Demon smiling down at the little one who always brought him sweets, the other just accepting them because what else could he do?
"Ciel!" (Name) ran up to the tween who stood at the front doors "how do we greet people?" Ciel chastised the little noble and halted and Ciel offered his hand "thank you for inviting me to your home!" He seemed very proud of himself and Ciel led him inside, (name) was constantly talking about spending time with the other so Ciel sent a letter and invited him over.
"Remember, gold the cup like this " Ciel was rarely patient with children but he has a soft spot for (name), the boy reminding him of his fiance (and cousin fun fact) and genuinely wanted the best for him.
(Name) played with a few toys Ciel kept in a toy room for the little one as he did his work "Lizzy says you're a business man... What do you do?" (Name) asked softly as to not disrupt him too much and Ciel glanced at the boy "I run Funtom corporation, all those toys and sweets you have? Those are from my company"
"Are you like Santa?!" He asked facinated and Ciel sighed "no, I'm not like Santa"
"Aww"
(Name) spent the day with the other, excitedly watching everything he did and even got to play in the garden for a while.
It wasn't till later in the evening, (name) spent after playing all day and having an all around blast and Ciel softly read him treasure island, the tyke asleep on the others lap.
"Do you wish for me to prepare a bed for him, young master?" Sebastian asked the noble who shook his head "no need, he wakes at the slightest movements after all"
Though Ciel wouldn't admit it, he felt warm that his fiance's little brother felt so safe with him, glad he got to spend time with him and perhaps would spend time with him again in future though maybe with more activities planned.
Maybe he could take him to that Christmas event that Lizzie gushed about.

 |——————————— ⴵ ———————————|
You had been working in the cafe for a while. Your parents needed the money, and to be honest, you needed it too.
Your parents had been drinking since you were a young child, and you now you were a teenager, which means it is legal for you to work. Your parents didn’t hesitate to push you towards a job. With all their money going to alcohol, they needed your money for either food, or more drinks.
On the side, you would save a little bit of money, trying to save enough to hopefully one day go to college.
Today it was a day like any other.
You had just gotten back from school, and you went to the cafe immediately. However, this time was a little different. For the last couple of weeks, you had the weird feeling that someone was watching you. There had been a few people that asked about a lot of details from you, which creeped you out a bit.
At first, it was a red-headed woman. She looked to be around her thirties, and she was very kind.
Then, there was a brown haired woman. She asked how you were doing, whether you were still in school, and also how you would be getting home. She seemed concerned for your safety. After all, it had been late that day.
Then, a blonde haired woman had walked in. She went into the cafe with a dog, and after ordering for herself and her dog, she offered to walk you home. You had told her that you were fine, and that your father was picking you up, but as usual, he hadn’t showed up. The woman insisted on walking you home, and you had allowed her. What was the harm, right? She was very kind and respectful, and her dog was nice.
After that, you had a week of boring people, as usual. People who didn’t give a single shit about your life. People that only cared about the fact that they had been waiting on their coffee for five whole minutes.
You figured you had just been imagining things, and that the three women you had met where just genuinely kind.
However, after that week ended, weirdly invasive people started to come into the cafe again.
At first it was a man. He was wearing gloves, and he looked a little scary. His hair was brown, and he was tall and looked strong. However, when he ordered you decided he was actually very sweet. He talked with you the entire night, thanking you when you served him his drinks and food, and he tipped very well.
A week later, this week, you spotted the red haired woman from a few weeks ago sitting at one of the tables.
She wasn’t alone this time. The brown haired woman, who you had seen earlier as well, was sitting beside her. You walked up to them with a smile, pushing your odd feelings down and getting ready to serve them just like any other day.
The women smiled at you, and after giving you their order, they continued a conversation of their own.
You brushed your anxiety off of yourself, making their drinks and continuing with your shift. However, after serving them and getting back to another costumer, the man you had seen earlier walked in. He looked a little angry, but smiled kindly when he met your eyes. You smiled back, but before you could ask for his order, he went to sit down with the other two women.
Again, you didn’t think much off it, rather just pushing the anxiety away and continuing with your job.
It started to get really weird, though, when the blonde haired woman walked in. She was accompanied by her fluffy dog, which didn’t hesitate to greet you with a wagging tail. You bent down to pet him, when you noticed a slightly red streak running along his fur.
You went to brush your hand over it, but the dog retreated back to it’s owner.
She smiled at you and stopped at the bar, ordering the same thing she ordered a few weeks ago. After doing so, she went to sit down with the other man and women. Why did they know each other? Had it been a coincidence that you had all seen them before? Were they watching you?
You shook the thoughts from your head, preparing the woman’s order, putting some whipped cream into a cup for her dog, before bringing it over to the table.
You put it down with a smile, grabbing the empty two cups and asking if you could get them anything else.
“We’re alright, sweetheart,” the brown haired woman spoke with a gentle smile.
You nodded and retreated back to the counter, ready to serve other costumers, before you realised, there were no other costumers.
The entire cafe was empty, minus the four people sitting in the corner.
Odd, this was usually such a busy time.
You didn’t think much off it, rather deciding to start cleaning up a bit in the hopes of getting home earlier tonight. When you were about to shut off the coffee machine you heard the little bell ring, indicating that another costumer had walked in.
You turned to look at them, discovering that it was a tall, large man. He had tattoos covering his arms, and a long beard. He was followed by a woman, who smiled at you before she pulled the man over to the table where the other people were sitting. You hadn’t seen them before, but you did find it odd.
When your colleague told you she was heading home for the night, you agreed to closing up, telling her to get home safe.
After she left, you glance over at the table impatiently. They had been sitting there for hours, and you wanted to get home on time tonight. You still had a few tests to study for, and there was a project you were supposed to hand in yesterday.
You stood impatiently at the counter until the blonde woman walked up to you. You had hoped she wanted to pay, but instead she simply asked for a donut.
You hid your annoyance and got her what she wanted, smiling at her when you handed the sweet treat over.
“How are you getting home today?” she asked as she took the donut from you, taking a bite.
“My father was supposed to pick me up, but I suppose I’ll be walking once again,” you replied, closing the treat cabinet.
“I can give you a ride if you’d like. My parents are probably leaving with my sister anyway, so there will be a car left that I’ll have to drive,” she explained, giving her dog a few pets when it excitedly walked over to her. She snuck the dog some pieces of the donut while praising her for being such a good girl.
“That’s very kind, but I’m sure I’ll be fine,” you replied, not wanting to get into a strangers car.
“Don’t be silly. It’s no problem, I promise. A young girl like you shouldn’t be out on the street alone at this time. It’s dangerous, someone could hurt you,” the woman reasoned, and you thought for a moment before agreeing.
It did seem dangerous to walk home alone in the dark, and this woman was very kind. There was no way that she would hurt you.
“If you’re certain that it won’t be a problem…” you said, and you watched the woman shake her head.
“Of course not. Besides, Fanny would love the extra cuddles,” the woman explained, giving her dog, Fanny, a few scratches behind her ears.
You turned around, missing the sign the woman gave to the other people at the table. They got up, walking towards the door. The red headed woman stayed behind, telling the others she would be there soon.
She walked over to the counter, giving Fanny a few pets before pulling out her wallet.
“I’d like to pay for the whole table, please,” she told you as she grabbed her card. You nodded and typed in the amount on the device.
After paying, she thanked you and walked out of the cafe.
“I’m Yelena, by the way,” the blonde woman said as she waited for you to close everything up. “I’m y/n,” you told her, locking the register and walking out from behind the bar.
“This way,” she said as she led the way out of the cafe, waiting for you to lock the door before opening the door of her car.
You were about to get in before Fanny jumped into the car before you, settling in the middle of the couch chair. Yelena drove a truck, so it was easy to fit three people on the chair. You got in after Fanny, sitting beside her and petting her head when she laid her head on your lap.
Yelena got into the drivers seat, closing the door and starting the car.
“Here, you must be thirsty after working for so long,” she said as she handed you a bottle of water.
“Thank you,” you thanked her as you opened it, taking a few sips.
“Who was your sister?” you asked Yelena after a little while. She turned to you with a smile, rubbing Fanny’s fur.
“The red head, Natasha. She’s my sister. The big guy, with the long beard, that’s my dad, and the woman with dark brown hair is my mom,” Yelena explained, focusing back on the road. “The cafe you work at is close to our work space, so we come there a lot, but we’ve never been there together.”
“What kind of work do you do?” you asked her curiously.
“We take care of business. Make sure people pay… taxes… that sort of stuff,” Yelena explained, although she weirdly paused before mentioning taxes. You nodded, focusing on the world outside.
After a few minutes of silence, you started to get a bit dizzy, grabbing onto the dashboard to steady yourself as black spots took over your vision.
“Everything alright?” Yelena asked, concern lacing her voice.
“Just a little dizzy…” you explained, taking a few deep breaths in the hopes of clearing your vision.
“That happens sometimes after doing a lot during the day, especially for girls your age. You should drink a bit more water and take a few deep breaths. It’ll pass,” Yelena told you, and you nodded as you gulped the leftover water in the waterbottle down.
You sat back, taking a few deep breaths and looking out the window, suddenly noticing the road you were at didn’t look familiar.
“This isn’t my street…?” you asked Yelena, who merely shrugged.
“There is construction that way, so I figured we’d avoid it,” she reasoned, turning on her turn signal and steering into another unfamiliar road.
You were about to protest, but the spots in your vision took over nearly everything, and you suddenly felt to dizzy to talk. You tried to say something, but you couldn’t even remember what happened after as you lost consciousness completely.
-------------------------------------------------------------
You groaned slightly when you woke up, the sun blinding your vision as you covered your eyes with your hands. You turned around in the bed, pulling the covers a little higher a closing you eyes again, fully prepared to go back to sleep.
Suddenly, you sat up in a fright, looking around the room and taking in you surroundings. You never got home lat night.
You don’t remember anything past the points of being dizzy.
You threw the covers away, standing up from the bed, ignoring the slight dizziness as you walked over to the window. As soon as you pulled the curtains open, all you could see was snow. What the actual fuck. It never snowed where you were from.
You ran towards the door, surprised when it opened immediately.
You looked out into the hallway, making sure it was clear before you made your way downstairs. You could hear chatter coming from what you assumed was the living room, and so you tried to go around it, heading towards the front door, or atleast, what looked like the front door.
You almost thought you weren’t spotted, until you heard a voice coming from the living room.
“If you’re going outside, don’t forget your boots and jacket. Winters are very cold around here.”
You stopped dead in your tracks, frozen in place as the voice spoke so casual. If she knew you were leaving, why didn’t she try to stop you? You hesitated a moment, unsure of what to do as you looked at the rack of shoes. Your shoes were there, together with a vast variety of boots.
“If you’re hungry, there is also some breakfast,” the voice spoke again, and you took a deep breath before deciding to follow it.
You walked into the living room, seeing all five people sitting on a few couches.
The red headed woman, Natasha, was sitting at the edge of the couch with the brown haired woman beside her. Natasha was scrolling on her phone while the other woman was reading a book.
After they noticed you arrived in the living room, the woman put her book away.
“Where am I?” you asked quietly, glancing over at Yelena who was watching something on the tv. You couldn’t understand the language, and you figured it must’ve been something slavic.
“You’re home,” the woman smiled softly, getting up from the couch and reaching for your hand.
“We figured we’d let you sleep in, so I put some breakfast in the fridge for you,” she explained as she led you towards the kitchen, letting go of your hand and opening the fridge, pulling out a plate of waffles.
You went to sit down at the barstool, leaning on the kitchen island, debating on what to say next.
“Who are you…?” you asked hesitantly, afraid to upset her.
“My name is, Wanda, but you may call me mom, and Natasha is mama,” Wanda stated simply, squirting some whipped cream on the waffles before topping them off with some fresh fruit.
“... What…?”
“I understand that it may be a bit confusing, but I promise you you will be happy here. We will make sure you will never have to worry about anything another day in your life,” Wanda explained, smiling as she put the plate of food in front of you.
“What about my parents?” you asked, and Wanda just smiled.
“You don’t have to worry about them hurting you ever again, I promise.”
You nodded slightly, staring at the plate of waffles.
“So you kidnapped me?”
Wanda chuckled a bit, sitting down across from you and pouting you a glass of your favourite juice. “I guess you could call it that, although that is not our intention. We love you, and we’ll show that to you,” she explained, putting the glass of juice down in front of you.
You hesitated before you felt your belly rumble in hunger, staring at the plate of waffles for only a second longer before you dug in, enjoying the amazing tasty treat.
“Why me?” you asked after taking a breath, taking a sip from your juice and staring at Wanda.
“You are special. You might not understand it, but you are special, and we love you. You are perfect,” Wanda explained, smiling as Natasha joined you in the kitchen.
“Don’t worry about it too much, malysh. You will love it here, and you will have everything you could dream off,” she said, giving you a kiss on your forehead. She reached over to the cabinet, grabbing a glass and filling it with some juice as well.
“If you want, I can take you outside later, or you could explore the house a little if that’s what you prefer,” Natasha suggested, and you nodded.
“Okay,” you simply said, taking another bite of your waffles.
You were confused beyond comprehension, yet for some reason, you felt safe. You knew you were safe, and for the first time in your life, you felt content.

Life began to feel so boring. The days blended into one another and suddenly we’re in march. Staying up late catching up on your favorite show because there is nothing better to do right now. One piece was such a breathe of fresh air, full of adventure and characters that seem amazing to be around and explore the world with. You wished to be in the world where u can freely be who you wanted, the world where you weren’t shackled by the burdens of reality.
You’ve been around all the corners of the internet so you know of shifting and astral projection which is exactly what seems to be going on right now. Rewatching episodes leading up to the time skip around 4 in the morning till your eyes flutter shut. Suddenly the wafting scent of the ocean filled your nose. “ Is she a stowaway?” “ How have we just found her we haven’t been on land for over a week now”. You opened your eyes to the snout of a reindeer and other very familiar faces.
You sat up so fast knocking into the poor doctor. Panic set through you because the first assumption anyone would have is that they’re in a dream or— congrats you’ve finally lost your damn mind. “ Who are you people”.
“ We’ve got the same question for you”
“ well I asked first”
The blunt part of a sword was thrust into your face by a very angry green swordsman. Fear etched across your face you give him a once over. Zoro. To your left was Robin and chopper holding his snout on her lap. There should be absolutely no reason that you’re in this world with these wacky 15th century pirates from your goofy anime show. Your voice shakes as you try to convince the green haired man to stop threatening your life.
“ Listen this is surely a misunderstanding, I really don’t understand how I have gotten here and I’m not really too sure who you people are.”
Maybe if they think that I don’t know who they are I can figure out a way to get out of this mess without ruining the story.
“ What is your last memory before you woke up on our ship” a voice from behind spoke. Turning to the left at the top of the stairs was Nami with Sanji following behind her.
“ I was laying in my bed falling asleep and then I woke up here”
After that you were bombarded with questions, what’s your name, your age, if an 8ft skeleton can see your underwear and it nearly drained the life out of you. The sun was now beginning to set after such a long day of being interrogated by the crew you used to watch through a screen. The captain was sitting on the head of the Sunny watching the day fade away when he stretched his arm to you pulling you to sit with him.
It was quiet for a while and nerves began to set in. Does he see through me? I know a lot of people don’t give luffy the credit but he’s way more intelligent than you’d think. “ What is it like where you’re from y/n” he spoke as he turned to face you.
“ Very different.”
“ Tell me about it please”
The sun completely faded into night and the stars littered the sky while you told luffy about “ where you’re from” and he was absolutely entranced by the world he’s never been. You ended up telling Luffy the truth about your origins, somewhat about himself, there was just something so compelling and trusting about him you didn’t think nothing of it. You slept in the girls room next to Nami that night, thinking about the next step and getting home.
Was this really a dream or did your desire to escape mundane life make you shift into this world of unknown.
The next day you went to eat breakfast with the crew and luffy starts spouting all the things you told him the night before. With seemingly no thought behind his words as he swallowed everything on his plate, though his crew members all stopped to stare at you in confusion.
“ I thought you said you weren’t from here?”
“ You said you didn’t know how you got here”
“ Well I wasn’t exactly lying, I really don’t know how or why I’ve been transported into your world. I just didn’t want to scare you or make you think I’m crazy with all of this.”
Over the next few days you were beginning to settle with the crew, you spent hours getting to know everyone and having the most fun you’ve had in years. Nami and Robin were curious about your world and you were more than elated to tell them all the things you enjoyed. The boys liked when you played their silly games, Sanji was obsessed with everything about you and loved having you perched on the counter when he was cooking so you can serve as his taste tester.
Zoro only just began to acknowledge you after finding out you also had a love for drinking, it became really easy to bond with the man. You knew you had to go back but what’s the harm in spending time with such a loving group of people, it’s not everyday someone is given your experience don’t waste it being worried.
You were able to convince Nami to give you a blank sheet of paper where you wrote all the things you knew about shifting and astral projection. You’ve been with the crew over a week now spending every night trying to shift back to your world. Sometimes you feel close others are strangely disturbed by Robin and Nami whether they are sparking up a conversation with you or knocking things over which disturbs your concentration.
The next few days you began to see birds meaning you were finally reaching land, the sabody archipelago. You know the way this arch ends and you need to go home now before you spend two years on an unknown island doing who knows what because YOU aren’t a straw hat and you have no place where you can learn to polish your skills.
The bubbly island became visible and you’d be reaching it by midday, while you were sitting on the head of the Sunny with Luffy again he asked you his million dollar question.
“ Y/n join my crew” he smiled. Your cheeks burned and you had to turn away from the boy whose smile brightened all your days.
“ Luffy I would love to but—”
“ Great- EVERYONE Y/N” you clasped your hand over his mouth.
“ Luffy l can’t join your crew. I have to go home I don’t even belong in this world”
“ Why do you want to leave” sadness dripped from his voice.
“ Yeah, we’ve been having so much fun” the small doctor announced from the deck.
“ It has been very fun I’ll admit but I don’t belong here with you guys. I’ve got a whole life in my world— and a family and just so much to do.” You reasoned.
The rest of the day the crew seemed angry and distant, you simply couldn’t understand why. When they all found out where you really came from they said they would help you get home. During dinner that night you were seated between luffy and Zoro who barley uttered a word while hushed conversations were surrounding the rest of the table. It was insufferable and reminded you of elementary school when someone didn’t want to be your friend anymore and told everyone about it.
“ Luffy are you upset with me? I haven’t done anything wrong”
“ Why do you want to leave? You just joined the crew and were on a new island”
“ I never said I was joining your crew luffy”
“ you know the captain doesn’t take no for an answer y/n” Zoro chuckled.
With a huff you stood up everyone’s eyes landing on you. “ Are you all acting this way because you don’t want me to leave?”
“ Why would we want a crew member to leave us?” Nami’s voice wobbled as tears formed in her eyes. Are they serious? When did u ever agree or tell these people that you were a part of their crew.
“ Listen closely all of you. You have to understand I am not from here, I never joined the straw hats, and I don’t even have any powers I can’t protect myself.”
“ That’s why you have me Y/n-chwaaan”
“ ignore that idiot cook but you have Luffy and I, we wouldn’t let anything happen to you”
“ Who is an idiot you damn moss ball !”
A fight between the cook and the swordsman broke out and you would usually find everything hilarious but…
These people have convinced themselves you are one of them and they don’t want you to leave. You decided tonight will be the night where you will go home with or without their help especially because you already know what’s in store the next day. Laying next to Nami that night waiting for her breathing to even out so you can concentrate with no interruptions you hear soft sobbing.
“ Are you alright Nami..”
“ Y/n I know you want to go back but can you stay a little longer we all care about you and enjoy having you around. We really feel like you’re one of our crew mates”
“ Sure, I’m not missing anything important right now” lying is better than letting this girl cry all night. When her breathing finally evened out you were able to try again.
Eyes fluttering open you were finally in your own bedroom. It was just as you left it, your iPad paused on the intro to one piece and the sun was showing through your curtains.
I really did it.
Life began as usual but you had a newfound appreciation for all the little things that made life worth it. Friends and family found your new outlook pleasant and you finally felt like you turned on a new leaf. While you were getting ready for bed applying all of your creams and oils the Tv in the living room turned on.
Wealth, Fame, Power.
A chill ran through your spine, you haven’t watched the show in over a month in fear of being brought back into that world by some odd chance. Getting up to turn off the tv something in the hallway made a noise. The fear of someone or something being in your house had you clenching on the door knob for dear life.
Just open the door nothing is there you’re only scaring yourself.
Opening the door and walking down the dark hallway into the softly illuminated living room the episode of the strawhats finally meeting up after two years was playing.
“ My favorite arch I should rewatch soon”
“ Why don’t you live it instead?” A voice from behind hissed.
You felt your heart thumping in your ears as you slowly turned to be met with a very angry Captain.

to shake things up a little, what about remus, sirius, or james with a s/o who's [ somehow ] more outgoing and boisterous than them? and she's always flaunting their relationship, her adorable boyfriend, and says the most genuine compliments out of nowhere both to him and other people and it's got him all shy and blushy such
This is such a cute idea!!!! I chose Sirius cause I felt like it in the moment, but this is such a cute idea for all of them. I hope you like it!!<3
“And he-“ You stumble, pausing at the mop of black hair in front of you. “Oh! Siri!”
He laughs at your state, flicking hair away. “That’s me.”
“I was just telling them,” You turn to the girls you met in the kitchen. They wave. “About you.”
“Only good things I hope.”
“Terrible.” You frown, pulling the cherry from the bottom of your empty cup to drop it in Sirius’s. He has two cherries now. Your fingers are wet, and sticky, and Sirius brings your knuckles to his lips to kiss the mixture away. You flush, alcohol and love warming you. “He’s so sweet.”
“Didn’t work very well.” He frowns. “You’re still sticky.”
“I don’t mind.” You laugh.
“I do,” He looks around for the nearest washroom. “Those sticky fingers aren’t going anywhere near my hair.”
You huff, watching him tap is fingers on the island countertop. They click lightly, the gloss of his black nail polish shining in the twinkling candles in every corner. The girls get up and leave, waving at you brilliantly. You grin, waving back just as hard.
“I think there’s one-“ He pauses.
“What’re you looking for?” James pops up, glasses a little crooked. He smiles when you reach up to straighten them. “Thank you, dove.” He nods.
You laugh, turning to Sirius. His eyes still search for a washroom, but his hands found their way to your hip, and the fingers molding into your skin distract you.
“You alright, my love?” Mary giggles.
Lily steps in front of you, holding your face in her slender fingers. You smile at the freckles on her nose, drawn messily like little constellations
“You’re my best friends.” You grin.
“Your friends?” Sirius gawps.
“Yes, padfoot.” Remus nods seriously. “We’re her friends.”
The room is light, love floating around airily. Lily presses a kiss to your cheek. “How much have you had to drink?”
“Just enough.”
“Perfect.” She murmurs, pulling away to reside in Mary’s arms. Her lipstick stains your cheek softly.
You turn to Sirius. Your fingers are still sticky to his dismay, but he doesn’t complain when they tangle in his hoodie. “You are so pretty, Siri, I’m serious! Isn’t he so pretty?”
“It’s the eyes.” James gushes for your amusement.
You nod enthusiastically. “I know!”
Sirius startles. “You need toast.”
“I need a kiss.” You tip toe in the flats you put on in the dim sunlight of your apartment before you left. “Please.”
He sighs, worried sick for your head in the morning. Aspirin can only do so much. “Honey-“
“He is not this shy at home.” You supply your friends. “Normally he-“
“Woah!” Sirius laughs, covering your mouth with his large palm. “You need a burger. We’re leaving.”
“What!” You gasp. “I don’t want to leave.”
“We’ll miss you.” Marls frowns sympathetically, leaning into Dorcas.
“I’ll miss you too.” You sigh. “And your skirt is so pretty.”
Dorcas grins. “You like it?”
“I love it.” Pulling away from Sirius, each of your friends are graced with a goodbye hug. One by one. “I love you.”
“Go eat.” Remus laughs.
“Siri doesn’t le-“
“And thats enough!” He laughs loudly, covering your sentence. “We’re leaving now.”

The walk back to the school was quiet, all attempts at defending you and Regulus had been long abandoned. James’ grip on your forearm remained as he marched you away from the forest while Sirius refused to even look at you, choosing to glare ahead like James.
When you, Sirius, and James entered the common room, Remus, Lily, and Marlene looked up, all three caught off guard by the sight in front of them. None of them had seen James look as angry as he did, not in the seven years of knowing him. You, on the other hand, were stuck in his iron grip, your eyes cast downwards. They watched as James and Sirius made a move to take you up to the boys' dormitories, only stopping when Remus jumped up and blocked them.
“What the hell is going on?” Remus asked, his tall frame standing in front of the staircase, glancing between the two boys and you.
“We caught her out on a little date,” James responded, his upset expression unchanged.
“Why is that such a big deal? She’s sixteen, she’s allowed to go on dates, Prongs,” Remus said, confused.
“Well, she isn’t allowed to go on dates with my little brother!” Sirius exclaimed, his face twisted in anger.
Remus, Marlene, and Lily all paused, shock written across each of their faces.
“She was on a date with Regulus?” Lily asked from the couch.
“Yes!” James responded, his head turning towards the redhead.
“And in the Forbidden Forest too!” Sirius added.
“It was just a picnic,” You uttered.
“I’m pretty sure it was more than ‘just a picnic’ given that I saw Regulus on top of you,” Sirius argued.
“Regulus was on top of her?” Marlene asked, still shocked.
“It wasn’t like that! We were just kissing!” You said, a weak defense against the five seventeen-year-olds beginning to crowd around you.
“Oh, so Regulus pins your wrists down every time you two kiss?” Sirius asked bitterly.
“No-!”
“Well, then it seemed like more than ‘just a kiss’ to me!”
“You guys don’t understand!” You exclaimed.
“Well then help us understand,” Remus responded, trying to remain calm.
“I’m trying! Regulus and I were going on a picnic-” You started before swiftly getting interrupted.
“Why was it in the Forbidden Forest?” Sirius pestered.
“Because we knew you would freak if you saw- which we were right about!” You argued back.
“Anyways….?” Lily said, trying to draw the story out from you.
“And we were talking about books-” You said, trying to continue.
“I didn’t know talking about books involved lying on top of someone,” James muttered, hostility lacing his words
“Oh shush, James,” Marlene groaned.
“We were talking about books and then had a play fight over a strawberry and kissed. That’s it. Nothing more to it,” You finished.
“Still doesn’t explain why it was all with Regulus,” Sirius grumbled.
“Listen, Sirius, I get that you’re pissed off and I’m sorry for keeping it a secret, but I’m not sorry that it was with Regulus. I know he’s your brother but I really like him, Siri,” You said, looking up at the dark-haired boy.
“I just… I don’t get it. How’d this even happen?” Sirius asked, quieter this time.
“Potions- we, uh, we have potions together. And a few prefects rounds now and then,” You answered.
“Prefect rounds… Lily, did you put the two of them together for rounds? Cause I know I sure as hell didn’t,” James accused, turning towards the red-haired girl.
“No- James, you know the pairs are rotated, I didn’t put them together on purpose, it was bound to happen!” Lily exclaimed, stepping away from the group.
“Lily, none of this would’ve happened if they weren’t put on rounds together!”
“The pairs aren’t picked out by hand, I already told you it wasn’t intentional-”
“Dear Godric- will you guys stop fighting? James, listen, Regulus and I had classes together- we would’ve met regardless of if we were paired up for rounds or not, so don’t go blaming Lily for it,” You interrupted.
“Everyone, just stop. I just need to think.” Sirius said, waving you, Lily, Marlene, Remus, and James off as he walked up the stairs and into his dormitory.
“I’ll go talk to him,” Remus muttered, following the path of Sirius. James, who momentarily turned to glare at you, walked behind Remus.
Left in the common room with Lily and Marlene, you let out an exasperated huff as you watched the boys’ heads disappear up the stairs. Turning around, you saw the two older girls staring at you.
“What?” You asked, not oblivious to their curious expressions.
“How long has this been going on?” Lily asked quietly, Marlene leaning in slightly to hear the conversation.
You stayed silent for a moment, your gaze trailing down to the scuffed material of your shoes.
“A few months,” You said quietly, slight shame enveloping you as you felt the burning stares from Lily and Marlene.
“How many months?”
“Four.”
“Four months?!” Marlene exclaimed, a gasp leaving her mouth.
Your head turned to the side, avoiding the gaze of the two as you chewed on your bottom lip.
“Yeah, four months,” You repeated, looking everywhere but at the girls in front of you.
“Why didn’t you just tell us?” Lily asked, brows furrowed.
“You’re really gonna ask that after what just happened? Blimey, Lily, it’s a mess whatever I do. None of them are going to trust me again. They… they’re gonna do everything they can to keep me away from Regulus and there’s about nothing I can do about it,” You muttered, frustrated tears forming in your eyes.
“I need to be alone for a little while. I’ll see you later,” You said after a few moments of silence, raking your hands through your hair as you left for your dorm.
The sight of your bed was a welcoming sight, prompting you to kick off your shoes and flop down onto it. Despite it only being late afternoon, you were already exhausted from the stress of the day. It started off good, with you getting to be with Regulus, but it was quickly ruined by James and Sirius discovering the two of you.
Regulus.
The thought of him normally brought a wave of happiness, butterflies swarming in your stomach when you saw him. Right now, though, you felt everything but the pleasant fluttering in your stomach. It was more like there were moths inhabiting your body, covering whatever light that was once in your heart. It wasn’t because of Regulus himself, dear Godric, of course not, it was over the fact that, just like you told Lily and Marlene, you would have all four boys, or at the very least James and Sirius, working against your relationship and working to keep you apart from him. It made you sick to the stomach.
Some might say to sneak around and meet up in abandoned corridors, broom closets, or empty classrooms, which would (theoretically) work if it wasn’t for the damned Marauder’s Map. At first, the piece of enchanted parchment was a blessing when you needed to check for professors before leaving the common room past curfew but, as you grew older and would meet up with boys, you would have about five minutes, maybe ten if you were lucky, until the marauders would appear. Your resentment for the paper only grew when you realized there was no way you could be with Regulus in an empty room or corridor at night without one of the marauders catching on, so you had to get creative. You and Regulus would make out in empty sections of the library, hold hands in the back of the classroom, talk and kiss during prefect rounds, and exchange love notes passed using either magic or by being left in between the pages of a book.
The rest of the day, you stayed holed up in your room, only leaving when dinner came around, followed by Lily and Marlene, who dragged you out of bed and down to the Great Hall. Dinner was a quiet affair, something incredibly unusual for the group but, with the lingering air of hostility emitting from Sirius, no one was really in the mood for talking. You were sat in between Remus and Lily, placed strategically so you couldn’t look over at the Slytherin table. Sirius, however, was sitting across from you and refused to even glance at you, his eyes either on his plate or glaring at the Slytherin table, most definitely aimed at Regulus.
You could feel the stares, watching as Marlene’s eyes flickered between you, Sirius, and Regulus. Lily, who would repeatedly would glance at you through her peripheral view, also caught your attention with her gaze. You were almost positive you could feel Regulus’ stare on the back of your head, yet you refrained from turning to meet the gaze. Sirius was mad enough as it was, he didn’t need to catch you looking at his little brother.
Not particularly hungry, especially given the day’s events, you spent the majority of dinner pushing around the food on your plate rather than eating it. You felt almost nauseous as you sat on the bench, the idea of eating englufed by the still-present feeling of moths within your body.
When dinner was finally finished, you were ready to bolt out of the Great Hall and into your dorm. Remus, however, had other plans, placing an arm around your shoulders and tugging you into his tall frame. Although it might’ve looked like an act of affection to some, you knew it wasn’t. You were certain Sirius had given Remus some sort of signal to make sure you didn’t leave their sight, something he was keen on avoiding after finding you and Regulus in the forest.
The over-protective behavior continued for days. You were always in the company of at least one of the marauders, whether it was in the library or walking to class, you were never alone. They had even gone so far as to bribe one of your Potions classmates into keeping an eye on you and Regulus. Of course, this was only after the plan of forcing you to switch partners failed and so began your life of constant surveillance. James had even put it upon himself to use his Head Boy status and hand-pick the prefect pairs that would patrol the halls, ensuring that you and Regulus were never together.
The only time you were ever alone was when you were in your dorm. Even then, the three girls, with whom you shared a room, had told you that James interrogated them every time they left the dorm, trying to squeeze information out of them on if you had gotten any letters or anything of the such. The girls, thankfully, had refused to answer any of James’ questions, leaving him to question what happened behind the wooden door of Gryffindor tower’s dormitory thirteen.
Around a week after you and Regulus were discovered, you finally received a letter from him. It had come Saturday morning while you were getting ready for breakfast, delivered by the midnight-colored owl Regulus had named Pluto, after the Roman god of the underworld. After petting Pluto for a moment, you sat down on your bed to read the piece of parchment. Inside the letter, Regulus wrote about how greatly was he missing you and how he wanted nothing more than to be able to hold your hand without receiving a scathing glare from his brother. You folded the letter back up and went rummaging through your bag, pulling out parchment, ink, and a quill as you wrote a response, talking about how you were planning on trying to get Sirius to let up and not keep you on watch every moment. You rolled your letter up, tied it to Plato, and sent him off, storing Regulus’ letter inside your DADA textbook before hurrying down to breakfast.
While you were sitting with your friends, your eyes would briefly glance at the door every time a student entered, looking for a particular curly-headed boy. When you made eye contact with the one you had been searching for, you could feel the redness in your cheeks. You quickly looked down, avoiding the side-eyed glance you received from Sirius, his eyes trailed over to where Regulus was walking towards the Slytherin table.
Catching on, Sirius dropped his fork onto his plate, storming out of the Great Hall in a fit of rage. You, James, Remus, Peter, Marlene, and Lily all watched him disappear before you stood up and began to follow him.
By the time you reached the painting of the Fat Lady, Sirius was already ahead of you and inside Gryffindor tower. Muttering the password, you entered the common room, pausing to look for Sirius. After you realized he wasn’t downstairs, your ears caught the sounds of things being tossed around and falling from the girls' dormitories.
In a matter of seconds, you rushed up the stairs and into your dorm, where Sirius was rummaging through your bag, your nightstand already ransacked and gutted, its contents scattered across the floor.
“What the hell are you doing, Sirius?!” You shouted, attempting to pull the bag out of the boy’s grip. The fight over the bag was essentially tug of war, ending when the contents spilled out, books and quills on the ground.
“I don’t know what else you’re hiding from me, but I’m going to find it so bugger off,” Sirius growled, anger burning in his eyes as he glanced at you.
You watched as Sirius reached for your Defense Against the Dark Arts book, freezing as the letter from Regulus fluttered out from the pages and onto the ground. Sirius picked it up, unfolded it, and turned to you with a look of betrayal and fury on his face after reading it.
“How could you?” Sirius said, leaving your dormitory and taking the letter with him.
Left in the mess surrounding your bed, you looked down to see your inkpot on the ground, shattered.
