My daily reminder to not go into a long Tangent to why Dante is an insufferable writer but actually only the second most annoying piece of shit in Italy literature
I have OPINIONS on Italian authors AND I CAN'T SHARE THEM BECAUSE WHO DOES THAT AFTER HIGHSCHOOL
I am very normal and my very normal obsession is with older text
Calvino is a bitch but inoffensive enough to me.
LEOPARDI IS MY MAN I WILL FISTFIGHT FOR HIM ANY MOMENT!

Literature fun fact of the day:
Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick, was best known during his life for the stories he wrote about his adventures at sea. Typee, his first published work, recounts "the narrators" time spent with a cannibal tribe in the Marquesas Islands. Because these stories enjoyed a based-on-real-events status, and Melville did indeed find himself captive to a tribe that practiced cannibalism, a -still- popular rumor circulated that Melville himself participated in cannibalism during his time in the Islands. Rather than making him a taboo subject within the mid 1800s household, the rumor, along with a populous craving for adventure, helped make him a household name.

I read Jane Austen's novel PERSUASION in grad school as part of a survey course on British Romanticism. It's the only Austen book I've read up until now. So I decided to rectify that by reading PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. And let me just say that even 10 pages in, I really like the humorous tone. And holy shit is Darcy a sassy motherfucker! He is throwing shade at everyone! This book is going to be fun!

When you go to the Globe in London to see a Shakespeare play, of course you take LEGO Shakespeare with you! Little Bill was extremely pleased with their production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM.

I feel like you should know that next year I’m gonna run for English captain at my school (I’ll also go for performing arts captain but that’s not important right now) and I may have already written my speech and it may be written entirely out of haikus

Everyone thinks that dick was the golden child when in reality it was Jason.
Clark: Bruce who was your favourite robin?
Dick: obviously it’s me?
Tim: it’s dick
Damian: I am superior robin, it will be me.
Bruce: it’s Jason
Everyone: WHAT?!?!???
Bruce: why are you so surprised? He didn’t jump on too my chandeliers which I had to replace each week
*everyone looks at dick*
Bruce: he didn’t drop out of school
*everyone looks at tim*
Bruce: I didn’t have to stop him from killing everyone who annoyed him
*everyone looks at Damian*
Bruce: in fact, he enjoyed school and handed all his homework in on time, we would spend hours in the library reading his favourite classics. He even helped Alfred with most of the cooking, He was my little boy
Jason: stop spreading lies, I hate you go away
Bruce: my precious little boy

Everybody is talking about this new Roman Empire thing, but the real question is: how many times do you think about that cloudy day in 1816 when Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley and John Polidori challenged eachother in creating the spookiest story ever and "The vampire" and "Frankenstein: the modern Prometheus" were born? Because for me, it happens on a daily basis.

Literature fun fact of the day:
Sir Walter Ralegh, a prominent figure within Queen Elizabeth's court was known as a poet, courtier, historian, and explorer. He was not, however, known as Sir Walter "Raleigh". The spelling - Raleigh - is a modern spelling of the adventurers name. Ralegh used a variety of spellings for his name, "Ralegh" was the most common, but he never once spelt his name using an -eigh- at the end.

I understand that literature nerd Jason Todd is kind of overblown in fanon compared to it's actual presence in canon (a few issues during his pre (and post?)crisis Robin tenure that highlight it) BUT consider that I think it's hilarious if the unhinged gun toting criminal has strong opinions on poetry
