Natasha Romanoff Masterlist 1, Natasha Romanoff Masterlist 2, Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
There she is. Standing across the room from you with a beer in her hand is the girl you have had a crush on from the moment you laid eyes on her. Natasha Romanoff.
Everyone’s favorite mystery girl that no one could seem to get with. The hottest guys and the hottest girls had no luck.
You are friends with her sister, Yelena, and there were countless times that people would ask her how to be approach her sister. She would warn them against trying. Nobody ever succeeded.
She catches you looking at her, but instead of shooting you a hard glare, she smirks at you and takes a sip of her drink. You shiver.
“What was that about?” Your friend Kate appears at your side.
“Huh?” You try to play dumb.
“Nat totally checked you out,” she says.
“What? No she didn’t!”
“Sure, okay,” Kate teases. “That’s why she’s coming this way.”
Before you can reply, Kate sneaks off probably to find her girlfriend. And you turn to walk the other direction, but you run directly into a person.
“Hey sweetheart,” Natasha says. She’s called you that since the first night she met you. Yelena had invited you home for the holidays and Nat coined the term for you. The close proximity to her makes your heart pound.
“Oh hey Nat,” you reply, trying your best to sound cool and collected.
“I haven’t seen you in a while,” Nat says. The party is crowded, but it feels like you’re the only two people in the room.
“Yelena has been busy with Kate, so-“
“That’s a shame,” Nat says. She moves closer to you. Her hand comes to your chin and lifts it up. It’s like she’s trying to memorize your face with how intensely she’s staring. “I missed you, pretty girl.”
You open your mouth to speak, but no words come.
“Cute,” she says. Her eyes look from your lips to your eyes and back. You think she just might kiss you when suddenly you’re interrupted. Natasha drops her hand from your face and steps back.
“Hey y/n,” a voice comes from behind you. You turn to see a girl that you’ve been out with a couple of times, but she ended up dating someone else instead.
“Oh hey Wanda,” you say.
“Are you here alone?” Wanda asks. You don’t miss the jealous glance she throws at Natasha.
Nat knows what happened between you and Wanda because Yelena had told her. Secretly, she asks after you often.
“Actually,” the redheaded woman interjects. She wraps an arm around your waist. “She’s with me tonight.”
Wanda is taken back by her words. She gives you a measly smile and walks away.
“What was that for?” You ask Nat once Wanda’s out of earshot.
Nat pulls you by your waist upstairs and into a room where you could hear each other better. She shuts the door behind you.
“Well?”
“She treated you like shit. You can’t fall back into that scheme she does. Sure she’s hot, but it’s not worth it,” Nat explains.
“You don’t get to make that choice for me. I didn’t mind telling her that I was here alone. And do you really think low enough of me that you think I’d fall back into her trap?” You ask her. You’re feeling yourself get angry, but Nat just smiles. You sigh. “What?”
“That is the most I have ever heard you speak,” Natasha says.
You feel heat rush up your neck. The fact that you’re alone here with Nat is finally sinking in.
“Oh, I guess I’m kinda quiet. But I just needed you to not have a bad opinion of me and think I’d try to get with her. She has a boyfriend and I would never,” you explain.
She crosses the room to get closer to you. Once again, she invades your space.
“You’re cute when you ramble,” she says. She’s just inches from your face.
“Natasha,” you say, practically breathless from how close she is. You’ve never seen her this up close before. She’s even more beautiful than you thought.
Nat takes your cheeks in her hands and rubs her thumbs over them.
“You’re gorgeous,” she says. You could shrink under her strong gaze, but you stand tall. “Did you know that?”
“No,” you mumble honestly. You’ve never been one to boast about your appearance.
“Oh that won’t do,” she says. “Can I make you know it?”
You’re not sure what you’re about to agree to, but you want to say yes more than anything in the world.
“Yes please,” your words come out and you feel embarrassed but Natasha doesn’t let that last.
She surges forward and presses a soft kiss to your lips. It feels like it never has before. One of her hands comes to the back of your neck as she deepens the kiss. Her tongue slips into your mouth and your knees actually do go weak. She gives you a break.
“Do you believe it now?” She asks.
“I might need some more convincing,” you try your best attempt at flirting.
Natasha smirks and nudges you onto the bed. She crawls onto it and straddles your waist.
“So you can flirt,” she marvels. She leans down and kisses you once again. Her lips feel even better this time. Soon, her lips find their way onto your neck. You feel her lips, tongue, and teeth against your skin.
“Oh Nat,” you moan out and she smiles against your neck.
“Keep doing that, baby. Tell me what you like,” she says between kisses.
“Okay,” you say.
She stops kissing you and lifts her head up. You take in the sight of her above you. She’s ethereal. Her fingers slip under your shirt hem.
“You’re going to have to answer me better than that,” Natasha commands. You look at her confusedly.
“Um- yes?” You try.
“No. Come on, baby girl, you know what I’m trying to get you to say. Can I take your shirt off?” She feeds you the question.
It hits you then what she means. You’ve not called anyone that before, but it feels right with her here taking such good care of you already.
“Yes daddy,” you say. She smirks.
“Good girl.”
Natasha picks up the pace from there. She takes off your shirt and her own before slipping off your bra as well.
She takes one breast in her hands as she licks your nipple on the other. Nat takes her time worshipping your body. Each second makes you wetter and wetter.
“Let daddy take care of you,” she says as she moves down your legs and unzips your pants, slipping them off expertly.
Nat litters soft kisses to your thighs. Your body is threatening to reach your peak without her even touching you right where you need her.
“Natasha, please,” you can’t help but beg. She stops kissing your thighs and you practically whine at the loss of contact.
“Patience, dorogoy,” she says. You don’t know what it means, but the accent she uses makes you even wetter.
She ghosts a finger over your panties and moans when she feels the wetness through them.
“Did anyone ever touch you like this?”
“No. Only you, daddy,” you answer.
“Where did my shy girl go?” She teases you. You turn red at her words.
She smirks and finally pulls your panties to the side before she slips her fingers through your wetness.
“Fuck,” she mumbles. “All for me.”
“All for you.”
She plunges a finger inside of you and immediately you’re moaning louder. Nat wastes no time adding a couple of more fingers and filling you up.
“You take my fingers so well, sweetheart. Imagine what you’d do to my strap.”
And you do imagine it. You can’t help but want that to happen with her.
“Nat I’m so-“
“Come for me, baby. Come for daddy,” she says.
And you do. You coat her fingers in cum and she works you through every moment of your orgasm.
“Fuck that was so hot,” Natasha says. She brings her fingers to her mouth and licks them.
You watch in awe as she keeps eye contact with you. She smirks and shifts to kiss you. Nat leaves you with a bite to your lip before she slips her fingers into your mouth. You suck on them as she wants you to. Once she relents, you try to take control.
“I want to taste you,” you tell her.
“Oh, do you?” Natasha teases.
“Please daddy.”
“Well, I can’t say no to that.”
She lays on the bed next to you and unhooks her bra. It falls to the side. Your eyes go wide at her breasts.
You move over her and suck on her nipples probably for far too long. But the moans you’re pulling from her are well worth it.
Eventually you move on and take her pants off. You’re careful as you pull them down her legs and she smiles at your softness.
“You’re not going to hurt me, sweetheart,” she says. You take them off. She’s wearing boxers underneath. Your brain is fuzzy as you slip them off of her as well.
“Natasha, you’re so beautiful,” you tell her as she lays there naked. She seems shy for first time.
You wonder if this is why no one ever succeeds in getting with her. She has more layers than you thought.
“Please,” she says.
You don’t tease her like she teased you and instead jump right in. You lick her softly and she pushes your head further into her center.
When you take her clit in your mouth, she moans and you add a finger to work in tandem with your mouth.
“Fuck baby,” she says. “I’m so close.”
“Come for me, daddy,” you say.
You love the taste of her against your tongue as she comes. She relaxes and you move up the bed to lay next to her. Nat turns her head to you and you feel shy again.
“Do you know you’re gorgeous now?” She asks.
In lieu of answering, you kiss her lips ever so softly. It takes all of your confidence, but the way she chases after your lips for another kiss gives you a boost.
“We should probably get back to the party,” she says.
“Yeah,” you agree.
But neither of you make the move to get up.
“Yelena’s gonna kill me,” you wonder out loud.
“Oh god. Please don’t say my sister’s name when I’m naked in bed with you,” Natasha says. She feigns disgust and you grin. “But I won’t let her kill you.”
“Thanks Nat.”
After a few more moments, you both get up and find your clothes.
“You ready?” She asks. It seems like another loaded question. You’re ready for everything with this woman and you hope so much that she’ll indulge you in this fact.
“I am,” you answer.
Nat surprises you when she intertwines her fingers with yours before you exit the room together.
You’re hand in hand with Natasha Romanoff, the woman you’ve been in love with for some time. It’s absolutely perfect.

Hoodie | Yelena Belova
Tumblr media
Pairing: Yelena Belova x Reader (College AU)
Summary: To Natasha you are Yelena's roommate and best friend, to Yelena, you are so much more than that. Yelena isn't out to her family yet, what will happen when Natasha visits?
Masterlist | Marvel masterlist | Words: 970
You had met Yelena through a roommate ad a few weeks before college had started. She had her roommate cancel on her at the last minute, most students had already found housing, so she didn't think her chances of finding a new roommate would be high. However, when you saw the ad you were thrilled to have found an open stop somewhere near campus. Since you went to a different state for college you didn't know anywhere here to room with, so you had settled for sharing a dorm room with a stranger. Of course, Yelena was also a stranger but your beds were in different rooms.
It was a little awkward at first since you barely had any time to get to know each other before moving in together, but as the weeks went by you got closer and closer. You went from strangers, to friends, and then best friends in a matter of months.
It wasn't long until you realized that you liked her as more than a friend, though at first you kept this to yourself. You didn't want to ruin what you had by sharing your feelings that might not be reciprocated. After about a month of hiding your crush on her, your eyes lingered a little too long on toned stomach when she discarded her sweater on movie night. She commented on it when she realized, "Like what you see?" You remember it like it was yesterday. With flushed cheeks you had tried to stumble your way out of it, but to no avail. All the while Yelena was just smiling at you, your reaction to her comment had only confirmed that you had feelings for her as well. So, she bluntly asked if she could kiss you.
Ever since that day you have been together. You still had your own rooms, but your nights were always spent together. Still having your own rooms turned out to be a great decision, when Yelena’s older sister Natasha was visiting. Yelena wasn’t out to her family, so they didn’t know about your relationship yet. She felt bad for asking you to hide your relationship until she had told them but you told her that it was not a problem and that coming out was a process that she could do at her own pace.
While you’re out you receive another update message from Yelena, “Hi baby, Nat wanted a lazy morning, so I let her sleep in a bit. I have to drop off some papers at school, I’ll be back in around an hour.” You pocket your phone after letting her know you’re about to head back. When you walk into the apartment, Natasha is having breakfast at the kitchen counter. You put your bags down and greet her, when you notice something familiar. "Hey, not that I mind, but why are you wearing my hoodie?" Natasha looks down at the hoodie confused, “I thought it was Yelena’s.” You chuckle, “Nope, it’s really mine. You’re good though, I don’t mind.” Natasha shrugs and continues her breakfast, though her mind is turning. “I guess you guys had a switch up during laundry or something, I got it from her room.” She was focussed on your face for any reaction to her comment. You thought you hid it well, but she read the nervousness on your face. Natasha decided not to say anything though.
Natasha would arrive on friday and stay throughout the weekend. You were in your last class of the day when Yelena texted that she had arrived. Once your class was done, you went back to your apartment. You were nervous to meet your girlfriend's sister, even when she didn’t know you were dating her sister, you still wanted to make a good impression on her. When you arrived, Yelena had given Natasha a tour of the apartment, and offered up her room. You spend the evening getting to know Natasha, and learning more about Yelena’s childhood.
The next morning you had a quick errand to run. You tiptoed around the living room when you noticed that Yelena was still sound asleep on the couch. She looked so peaceful. You took a quick look toward her bedroom door and saw that it was still closed, which meant that Natasha was still asleep as well. You plant a soft kiss on Yelena’s forehead before slipping out of the door.
Yelena walked in and eyed the hoodie Natasha was wearing immediately, when Natasha went to greet her sister she saw the slight panic on her face as well. Natasha starts smiling, “I knew it!” Yelena hesitantly asks, “Know what?” Natasha stands and walks up to her sister, “My little sestra is dating her roommate!” She brings her in for a hug without letting Yelena say anything in response. “I am so happy for you, Yelena.” Yelena steps away from the hug stunned, “You knew?”
“Well, I wasn’t 100% sure until I got here, but I had a feeling for a while. You’ve never talked so fondly about a person in your life, sestra. It was obvious that something was going on. Seeing the way the two of you interact with each other just confirmed my suspicions.” Yelena takes a deep breath out, releasing all the tension. “Do you think mom and dad know?” Natasha thinks for a moment. “Well, mom always knows everything, so she probably has her suspicions too. Dad on the other hand, he can be quite oblivious to these kinds of things.” Natasha noticed her sister getting worried again. “They’d love y/n, though.”
Yelena was super relieved once her sister knew, and she was happy that she didn’t have to hide her relationship for the rest of Nat’s stay. That night you held her while she fell asleep in your bed.

𝐀𝐍: Reader uses she/they pronouns. Loosely based on Late Night Talking by Harry Styles and my insomnia (surprise surprise). This was written at 3 in the morning and is unedited. Enjoy! :)
Tumblr media
At first it was passed off as a quirky trait they had by their friends and family members. Now they were starting to acknowledge how much of problem it is for Y/n to deal with. Hopefully Professor Harkness wouldn’t be on her ass about it. The last time they were here the professor showed an immense amount of concern at the lack of livelihood in them due to their insomnia.
She was becoming somewhat of a concerned mother figure towards her while still maintaining her professionalism.
Thankfully she wasn’t at her desk yet and it was still 5 minutes before class started. As Y/n plopped down into their seat they barely spared the person they sat next to a glance. It wasn’t an auditorium styled classroom it was one of the smaller ones. Only 20 people were in this Psychology class and it was the smallest one the professor had (she has joked about it multiple times).
Wanda couldn’t help but stare. The droopiness in their eyes and bags underneath raised so much concern. The Sokovian cleared her throat and debated giving the gift she had for Y/n now or after class. Her utensils and items she uses for class were all perfectly laid out in front of her.
She quickly reached into her bag deciding she could use Professor Harkness as a distraction in case Y/n didn’t like what she gave them. Wanda removed the plastic bag and slid it towards them.
“What- oh good morning Wanda, don’t forget your stuff.” Their voice was laced with tiredness.
Wanda giggled. Even when they were sleep deprived they were cute. “It’s for you baby.” The pet name slipped out causing both their cheeks to burn.
Y/n cleared her throat and sat up in attempt to straighten their posture but still hunched over the desk a bit to grab the bag. They untied it and looked inside to see an assortment of snacks, a water bottle and two different brands of melatonin. Their cheeks flushed for another reason. Y/n had no clue Wanda had been paying this much attention to her.
“Oh Wanda I’m sorry I- do I bother you during class? Because I can move–”
“None of that.” Wanda shook her head immediately cutting her rambling short. “Whenever I’m sleepy during class it helps me to stay awake to eat or drink in between writing…and because it helps me stay awake, I thought it might help you too…I also used to take these melatonin brands when I had issues sleeping during finals from all the stress and they worked pretty well unless you blatantly ignore the tiredness they cause you like I did at the start of taking them…” Wanda scratched the back of her head, she could not read Y/n’s expression. “Point is, I got this stuff for you because I wanted to help.”
Y/n could not fathom why someone she rarely sees outside of class would do something so kind for them. Kate, Yelena or one of their other friends would do this but Wanda and her only interacted because she briefly dated Natasha until the two decided they were better off as friends. And even then Natasha and her never got that close due to the overwhelming crush Y/n had on her in highschool. But that can be reminisced on another time.
Y/n placed her hand on Wanda’s wrist immediately feeling it relax under her touch. “Wanda, thank you, seriously.” The two shared a smile. “You’re sharing them with me throughout class though.” Wanda began to protest. “I wasn’t asking, Maximoff.” Y/n smirked when her cheeks flushed and a shy “okay.” Reached their ears.
The two shared the snacks during class and Y/n carried the melatonin around with them for the rest of the day. After eating dinner with her roommates she laid in bed for two hours until she glanced at her night stand and saw the melatonin mocking her. Melatonin usually doesn’t work, she’ll feel drowsy then immediately begin to doze off then wake up and be awake for the rest of the night.
They sighed and reached for the melatonin, ripping the package open. “5 milligrams per fruit gummy.” Y/n popped in 4 and hoped for the best.
Their phone buzzed on the bed signaling a text message coming in. Y/n grabbed it without looking and unlocked her phone. The time read 1:20 in the morning which was less worse than usual.
Wanda :D | 1:20 AM
You up?
Y/n forgot Wanda had her number after they (her friends, Natasha and Wanda) all went to the arcade together. Seems Wanda didn’t forget though.
Y/n <3 | 1:23 AM
Yup! Just took the melatonin though so let’s see if it works.
Not even 30 seconds went buy before Wanda’s name popped up on her phone, signaling she was getting a call. Y/n answered, propping herself up against the head board with her pillow for support.
“Hi.” Y/n sang.
“Hello.” Wanda’s accent was pronounced as ever. “I…sorry I called you I just- I wanted to talk to you and hear your voice, I also don’t feel like typing any longer.”
“That’s alright, not like I’m asleep.” Y/n joked with a hint of amusement in their voice.
Wanda chuckled deeply. “That’s true, which one did you take?”
“I’m too lazy to grab it and look but it has a clear packaging with the label on front.”
“Purple top?”
“Yeah.” Y/n grinned.
“Oh cool, I figured you would like gummies more.”
“And what made you think that?”
Wanda twirled her hand between her fingers as she sat at her desk inside her room at her brother’s apartment. “I sort of remembered how you said you enjoy fruit flavored things so…yeah.”
Y/n nodded even though Wanda couldn’t see them. “Yeah well you are what you eat.”
Wanda giggled. “Shut up.”
“Oh okay well I’ll just hang up now.” Y/n said with mock offense and their hand on their chest.
“Stop, no teasing.” She chastised playfully.
“Me tease? Like you weren’t calling me nicknames in class earlier.” Y/n’s chuckle was deep and raspy. After not hearing a response they pulled the phone away from their ear. Then put it back as it said the call was still going. “Hello? Wanda.”
Wanda muted herself and screamed into her pillow then calmly moved her hair out of her face as Y/n questioned where she went. She picked the phone back up and unmuted herself.
“Wanda you okay?”
“Yes, I’m okay just wanted you to see how empty your life would be if I hung up on you.”
“You are so–”
“Pretty, smart, amazing–”
“And also annoying.”
“That’s rich– you think I’m pretty?”
Y/n responded without hesitation. “What? Of course you are! Natasha only dates pretty girls and you’re the prettiest I’ve ever seen– dating her aside.”
Wanda’s smile faltered at hearing Natasha’s name. Then returned at full force as Y/n reassured her right after making that comment. Nat and Wanda being in the same friend group was a decision Wanda regrets but also loves. Her friends are some of the best people she has ever met. Once Carol and Nat started dating soon after they broke up Wanda avoided speaking to Natasha as much as possible.
“Sorry, did I make things weird by bringing up the ex…I didn’t mean too.” Y/n was now laid down in bed, snuggled under the covers with her phone to her ear.
“No you didn’t, baby.” She cleared her throat. “Are you feeling sleepy?” Wanda asked, physically resisting the urge to write notes on their current state.
Y/n swooned at the nickname for the second time that day. “Yeah.” She sang. “Are you– wait why are you still up?”
Wanda grins. “I stay up late sometimes when I don’t have plans the next day, it’s like a reward for getting through the day or week.”
“And you decided to use your reward time to call me? Such a sweet girl.”
Wanda giggled, shut off her lamp and laid down in bed under the covers. “I try.” She glanced over to see the clock read 2:30 in the morning. “We both have to try going to sleep now though angel, get some rest for me okay?”
Y/n hummed in response, her heart fluttering at the nickname. “Okay…night.”
Wanda grinned knowing the melatonin was kicking in. “Goodnight angel, sleep well.”
They both hung up and for the first time in a while Y/n got a full eight hours of sleep. Wanda sighed happily and held her phone to her chest. It was clear Y/n needed some guidance, someone to take care of them. Wanda just so happened to have her favorite love language be acts of service, what a coincidence.
Two weeks go by and Y/n’s sleeping habits start getting better at the same time Wanda and her become even closer. Unfortunately some habits take a while to stick.
“It’s not working.” Y/n cries out of stress, feeling physical tears start to come to their eyes. “Finals are right around the corner and I need to have this together or–”
They’re sitting outside in the court yard near the student center. This was the first time Wanda and Y/n have hung out outside of class without their friends around. Wanda places her hand on Y/n’s wrist effectively stopping her speech.
“Yes you will, everything’s gonna be fine baby.”
“But Wan I–”
“Baby? Didn’t know you two were that close.”
Y/n groaned and dropped her head on the metal table at the sound of another persons voice. They were already having a break down outside it’s worse that another person had to come and perceive them. Wanda forced herself to relax instead of snapping at her friends for interrupting. She understands how emotional Y/n feels as it’s how she felt during the summer semester not too long ago. Wanda turned her head to greet them as politely as she could to see Carol’s concerned expression but see Natasha’s eyes bouncing between them both with an emotion Wanda did not like; jealousy.
“Yes we are, that close. In fact I adore Y/n with everything in me and I’m trying to comfort them so now is not the best time–”
“Y/n/n what’s going on baby girl?”
Wanda felt like a hypocrite at the sound of her exes voice. Now she was jealous and looking at Y/n to avoid glaring daggers at Natasha. Her shoulders tensed up at the hand she placed on their back. Wanda nearly smiled as Y/n’s whole body tensed up at the contact.
“Ask Yelena.” Came Y/n’s muffled voice.
Natasha smiled playfully. “I will if she could answer her phone.”
Y/n sat up right and took a deep breath, inching closer to Wanda. She wiped her face as she spoke. “She’s in class today doing a double to catch up and make up for her grade so she won’t be out of class until 5:30 and I made sure her and Kate are doing a buddy system so that they won’t be around after sundown by themselves because we are women on a college campus be fucking for real and use the buddy system whenever you can and however you can….Yelena is also the size of five stacked up toasters, black belt or not buddy system always works.”
They all laughed in a various octaves at her rant.
“That is very true, the buddy system is what works best.” Carol agreed gesturing towards them with her can of soda.
“Can I have some?” Y/n asked with a pout.
“Did you have soda today already?” Wanda asked softly, scooting closer to her.
Y/n shook their head. “No, I want a sip.” She pouted.
“Okay, baby.”
“What’s with the nickname seriously,“ Natasha passed off her comment as a joke with a forced chuckle. “are you two dating?”
Wanda opened her mouth to respond but Y/n beat her too after handing Carol back her drink. “And what if we are?” They asked.
Wanda beamed at the protectiveness on their voice. “Yeah what if we are.”
“So what if Wanda is the air that I breathe and the water that I drink.” Y/n added with a shrug, pulling the brunette into her side. “I adore her just as much as she does me, if not more.” The sleep deprivation was definitely talking but so what Wanda didn’t seem to mind. Natasha looked off to the side, avoiding eye contact with them both.
The brunette giggled and kissed her cheek.
“Well congrats.” Carol added with a grin.
“Thank you fellow lesbian.” Y/n beamed.
Carol threw her head back and laughed. “You’re welcome fellow lesbian.”
They all laughed at the exchange.
The day left and night began, as the clock hit 8 Y/n took their shower and did everything they needed to be done before bed. By the time they took their melatonin it was 11 at night.
They laid down in bed with all the lights off and the quiet thrum of voices coming from the living room as Kate and Yelena worked on a project for a class they had together. Y/n’s phone began to buzz on the night stand. Knowing the only person’s notifications she had on at this time of night she answered the phone without looking at the caller ID.
“Hey.” Y/n said.
“Hi.” Wanda sung.
“How’s my pretty girl doing?”
Wanda’s cheeks burned as she left her bathroom and moved to lie down in bed. She was stunned into silence and Y/n knew it. They began to laugh.
“Sorry, too much?”
“No, not at all just a shock that’s all.”
A few minutes of silence passed as Wanda got settled down into bed with the lights in her room off and her brother out for the night.
“About that conversation earlier…”
“My breakdown or Natasha’s jealousy?”
Wanda rolled her eyes so hard she wouldn’t be surprised if Y/n heard it through the phone. “Oh god don’t get me started, that was so annoying! And I hated when she started touching you like you two are close and that she speaks to you outside of you and Yelena practically being sisters like don’t touch her!” Wanda huffed.
Y/n giggled so loud she knows her bestfriends heard it. “I didn’t realize she got you so riled up my love.”
“Tell me about it.” Wanda sighed then bit her lip at the sound of their laughter. “But no, before they walked up I wanted to tell you that I understand how you feel and I’m here for you, you’re going to get through this.”
Y/n wished the Sokovian stood in front of her so that she could give her a hug. “Thank you sweetheart.”
“Of course angel.”
“You wanna stay on the phone with me tonight? I like the sound of your voice.”
“Well you have to I am your girlfriend now.”
Y/n chuckled. “Yeah…” Silence passed between as they both thought over that part of the conversation. “I would actually like for you to be my girlfriend in the future Wanda…I feel like you want the same but I could be wrong–”
“You’re not. I like you so much. Our nightly talks are something I’ve been looking forward to every day since they’ve started….can I take you on a date?”
“Absolutely.”

“I don’t know what to do,” you groaned as you threw your head back against the worn couch.
“I want the project to focus on movement, but lifelike movement. Human movement.” You mocked your professor. It not being nature themed had to be a jab just for you. All your projects were nature related or still motion.
“Professor Grace wasn’t targeting you,” Wanda said, letting out a chuckle at your dramatics.
“Are you sure you’re not a drama major?” Pietro laughed as he threw a butter packet at you.
“You two are the worst,” you sighed as you threw your arm over your eyes. Twins, why did my best friends have to be twins. The world is cruel, your thoughts drift.
“Why don’t you come to the track and draw me?” Pietro wiggled his eyebrows at you. You rolled your eyes in response.
“Eh,” you sighed. You didn’t want a solution at the moment. You just wanted to complain.
“She just wants to vent guys,” Natasha said as she came through the door holding a couple bags of takeout and a box of wine. “And I doubt she wants to see you and the rest of the track team in those tiny little running shorts you call clothing,” she sassed at Pietro. He just laughed, and stuck a pose with his leg up on the bar stool next to the island counter causing you all to laugh with him.
“Thank you,” you exclaimed as she handed you your food. You threw a 10 at her and settled back down into the couch.
“You know, you could come by the rink and draw a couple of the guys,” Nat mentioned. Her long term boyfriend was on the hockey team, Clint, a sharpshooting winger nicknamed Hawkeye.
“Pfft,” you scoffed. “I’m not going to have them think I’m one of those, puck kitties, or whatever they’re called.”
“Puck bunny,” Wanda chimed in, you pointed your chopstick at her and smiled.
Natasha let out a loud laugh, one of those full bodied ones, “god they won’t think that.” You raised your eyebrow at her and gave her an incredulous look.
“I can’t have them showing off because I’m there. I need to get them in their element. Not focused on what I’m doing,” you groaned again. “Biggest issue is I will need permission from the person or people. So they’ll have to know.”
“Like I said Princessa, draw me. You have my permission,” Pietro winked, you rolled your eyes at him.
“You’re too obvious of a choice. And as much as Wanda insists that Professor Grace doesn’t have a personal vendetta against me, she’ll love pointing out I picked the safe option,” you whined.
“Wanda, you haven’t seen Grace in class. She will take any chance to criticize her pieces. Nitpicking to the extreme.” Natasha chimed in, “if it wasn’t for Dr. Rain I think our resident artist would've failed out of this course by now.” Dr. Rain was the head of the art department and after a wholly undergraded piece you submitted last semester Prof. Grace was on thin ice. So she graded you fairly but took every chance to tear you apart in front of the class.
“I’ll think about the hockey team. It would be the least expected from me anyway,” you signed and got up from the couch taking everyone’s garbage and throwing it out. Football season was over, but the hockey season was in full swing right now and our team was top of the league.
“They have practice tomorrow night, you should come by and look at it,” Nat said, giving you a knowing look.
Tumblr media
~The Next Day~
That's how you ended up in the rink. Underdressed because you didn’t realize how cold an ice rink would be in the stands. You were right though, about the type of girls that hung out there, they were scantily dressed and leaning over the tunnel that the players exited and entered from. How they weren’t frozen baffled you.
Nat was sitting reading a chemistry book across from you near the bench, as you didn’t want the team knowing you knew her. Well everyone but Clint. You’ve hung out quite a few times over the past couple years. You took a seat a few rows up opposite the bench near what Nat called the Sin bin (penalty box.) It gave an excellent undisrupted view of the rink and the players as they practiced.
The sounds of skates gliding over fresh ice and sticks bouncing off it was an almost soothing sound. The puck skittered across the ice as it was passed between teammates and shot toward the empty net. The goalie, a guy named Quill, was performing some kind of ritual at the opposite end of the rink. Nat mentioned he was a bit of an odd duck. But according to her all goalies were odd in their own ways.
The movement was fluid and easy to follow. How these giant men moved so weightlessly across the ice left you in awe. The Captain of the team was a blonde center named Steve Rogers, better known as Cap. Most of the school knew him, he was in a few of your art classes over the semesters. His girlfriend Peggy, was the student union president.
The star of the team was his blurry best friend James “Bucky” Barnes. He was a “winger,” with good prospects for the NHL according to Nat as she gave you a lowdown of the team as you guys went there just after practice started. He was nicknamed the White Wolf. How a man of his size moved that easily was mesmerizing, he almost floated over the ice and it looked like he was dancing. He was sinfully handsome as well. Every other week he had a new girl hanging off his arm. Undoubtedly one of those puck bunnies as they were called. He was the talk of the school after the football season concluded.
It made you dislike him on principle. The sports were definitely more priority in the school and the art department lacked thanks to these overgrown toddlers on skates. But you couldn’t deny his natural handsomeness, he looked effortlessly handsome and it was almost unfair.
You looked down at your sketch pad that you had been absently scratching at. Bucky seemed to be your muse because you couldn’t take your eyes off him as he effortlessly skated around the rink. You were in danger and you knew it. You gulped and closed the book before quickly gathering your things and leaving.
It didn’t take Nat long to text you and ask where you went. You sent her a quick message back saying you were cold. Not that Bucky, the school's playboy, had quickly become the muse of your piece.
“Nat, I thought you said your friend was coming by,” Clint asked as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“She did, she left because she was cold,” Nat chuckled.
“Anyone know the pretty one watching by the sin bin?” She overheard Wilson ask. “And what she was doing?”
“I think I was in a couple art classes with her,” Steve mentioned missing your name.
“I won’t complain if she comes by again,” Barnes said. Wilson raised a brow at him.
“What, so you can break her heart well?”
“Look doll, it’s not you,”
“It’s me.” Wilson and Stark said together. Barnes shot both men a glare. Then the high pitched whine of Barnes newest fling squealed his name and that was Clint and Nat’s queue to hightail it out of there. The collective groans from the rest of the team matched her thoughts.
Tumblr media
~A couple days later~
“Loki, I don’t know what I’m going to do, this project is worth too much for me to go safe,” you sighed as you laid your head on his lap. He was reading some classic novel for his English class in the student commons. His fingers nimbly moved through your hair as he held the book in the other hand.
“Darling, just go back to the ice rink,” he knew almost immediately when something was up when you were walking together a couple days later. The perspective bastard. Loki was your best friend since middle school, his brother Thor was the star quarterback for the football team in both high school and here.
“Why would I do that,” you pouted.
“Because you clearly want to draw this man, and it will ruin you for months just like that piece you did of Helena,” he said shortly. Helena or Hela was his big sister and she was absolutely stunning. You had pined over drawing her for a piece for months before Loki forced you to ask her. It fixed everything and life back to normal after you painted the piece.
“I hate when you do that,” you whined, his eyes flicking down to your face.
“Hate what darling,” he mused.
“That, being reasonable and knowing what I need before I admit what I need to do.” He laughed and ruffled your hair affectionately.
“Comes with years of experience,” he sighed and placed his book down next to his leg. “Do bundle up this time will you,” he called as you walked away, you quickly flipped him the bird as you rounded the corner.
And there you were back at the rink again. Although tonight was a game night and the rink was packed. “20 dollars,” a nasally boy said as he pushed his glasses up, he looked bored out of his mind.
“Pardon?” You asked, looking at him.
“It’s 20 dollars to get in the game,” he said in an annoyed tone.
“Oh, I’m a student,” you showed your ID card, he rolled his eyes, “5 dollars.” You nodded and placed the five down. Only partners of the team got in free. Perk of fucking one of the team members you guessed, that must have outweighed the fear of them cheating or getting bored. You knew that wasn’t fair. At least two of the guys were in committed relationships and one was in an on again off again relationship. The rest though you weren’t sure, you shock your head at the thought.
You caught the flaming red hair of Nat in her reserved seat next to the bench, Peggy was next to her. There were a few open seats at the top of the rink, not great from getting a good view of what you needed to draw. But it would have to do. Instantly your eyes were drawn to Barnes, number 17, flying up the ice leaving the opposing team in the dust, snow? With a quick flick of his wrist the puck was shot sideways and Barton scored. The crowd stood and cheered loudly. You wished you had ear plugs now. The buzzer was insanely loud and made your ears ring. How Nat enjoyed this you’d never understand. Barton. You thought, Nat wasn’t big on sports, but she was big on her sweet boyfriend.
You focused on Barnes as he showboated around the rink, celebrating his assist. He moved so fluidly, you were mesmerized. You drew many little pieces focusing on the movement trying to capture the effortlessness of him skating. You were startled from your drawing when the buzzer screeched again the crowd roared in applause. The team scored again and it seemed to be Barnes that scored this time. Hats flew onto the ice as he skated around. That was odd, you squinted at the action. His eyes caught yours for a split second as he rushed past and it felt like eternity.

“Natasha,” you say breathlessly as the woman pulls at your hips to bring your center closer to her face. She hums against you as you continue to get close.
But then you’re interrupted.
“I’m home!” Yelena’s voice rings out from the living room.
"Fuck, she wasn’t supposed to be home yet,” you say while frantically trying to get off Natasha.
“No, not so fast,” Natasha says. She pulls your hips back down. “Just stay quiet. You’re going to come for me, sweetheart.”
“Nat, she could come in and-“ you’re cut off by Natasha’s tongue on you again. She works quickly and you bite your lip as you come for her.
“Good girl,” Natasha says quietly as she lets go of your waist.
You hear footsteps approaching your room and Natasha sits up to kiss you before she grabs her clothes and sneaks into your closet. You slip your clothes on quickly.
She shuts the door right as her sister enters your room.
“Hey y/n,” Yelena greets you. She walks right in and sits at your desk.
“Hey, what’s up?” You try act casual.
“So, I’m booking a trip for spring break,” she begins. “And I want you to come with us.”
“Us meaning you and Kate?” You ask even though you know the answer. She nods. “I don’t know Yelena. Third wheeling isn’t so fun.”
“So you’re going to just sit here all week? Come on, please! It’ll be so fun,” Yelena begs you. She gives you her best puppy dog eyes and pout.
“Fine,” you agree. “How much do I owe you?”
“Nothing at all. Kate’s mom is rich, so it’s basically free except for food and drinks.”
You give her a stunned look and she only shrugs.
“We leave Friday!” She says as she walks out of your room.
You shut the door and Natasha comes out of your closet.
“So I guess you heard I’ll be gone next week,” you say with a sigh.
“Why aren’t you excited?” She asks, sitting on your bed next to you.
“I just kind of hate third wheeling with them. And she doesn’t know about us so it’s like I can’t really say no,” you explain.
“I see,” Natasha says. She wraps an arm around your shoulder and you lean into her. You’ve found that you love the soft moments with her just as much as the sex with her.
“I’ll miss you,” you say. And it’s true. You’ve gotten used to sneaking around and seeing Nat almost everyday since that party where you hooked up.
“I’ll miss you too, baby. It’ll be okay,” she assures you. “I’ve got class in the morning, so I should probably get going. Is that alright?”
“Of course, yeah. I’ll talk to you later?”
“Absolutely.”
Natasha kisses you once more before you check to make sure the coast is clear and then she leaves your room and apartment.
The days leading up to the trip go by quickly and before you know it you’re packed and in the car to the airport.
“We are just making one more stop and then to the airport,” Kate tells the driver.
You have no idea what that stop could be, but when you arrive at a familiar apartment your heart beats faster.
Your gut feeling is confirmed when the redhead slips into the seat next to you.
“Hey,” Natasha says simply, a smirk that only you understand is on her face.
Yelena moves out of her seat and hugs her sister. “I’m so glad you could come!”
“Me too,” Nat says. “It’ll be nice to catch up and relax.”
The ride to the airport feels long and intense with the way Natasha’s thigh brushes against yours. When you get into the plane, you can’t all four sit together so you split up into twos. Obviously, you and Natasha end up together.
“How are you here?” You ask her. The loudness of the plane and being a few rows away from Yelena and Kate allows for you to talk like this.
“Yelena asked me,” Nat says.
“Why? Do you think she knows?”
“I don’t, no. I think she just wanted me to go. I don’t know.”
You accept that answer is the best you’re going to get.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart. It’ll be fun,” Natasha says, slipping her hand into yours. “Think about the fact that I packed my best red bikini.”
Your eyes go wide and Nat chuckles. She likes how easily she can get you flustered.
She holds your hand for the entirety of the flight.
By the time you get to the resort, everyone turns in for an early night. Kate and Yelena go to one room while you and Nat take the other.
“See I told you this would be fun,” Nat says as she slips into bed next to you.
“I guess. But I’m still worried she’s going to find out.”
“Let me ease some of those worries, she says. Her hand brushes your over the skin of your arm.
“Nat, we can’t do that here,” you say.
“Why?”
“We just- we need to keep it chill this week.”
“Alright,” she agrees. “Chill.”
Something about the tone of her voice and the way she kisses your cheek before she turns over to go to sleep tells you that she won’t be making this week easy.
On the beach the next day, your worries are confirmed as Nat strolls past you in a red bikini. Thank goodness you have sunglasses on or Yelena and Kate would see your eyes unashamedly all over Natasha’s body.
“Did everyone put on sunscreen?” Her voice breaks you from your stare.
“Yes mom,” Yelena answers her sister, rolling her eyes in the process. She goes back to her conversation with Kate.
“Y/n?” Nat asks.
“Um, no I didn’t. But I’ll be fine,” you say.
“You’ll get burnt, sweetheart. Let me put some on you,” she says with a smirk on her face.
She doesn’t give you a chance to argue before she’s in front of you with a bottle in her hands.
“We’re going to the water,” Kate announces before her and Yelena walk off hand in hand.
Natasha gestures for you to stand up. You do so and she slips into your chair. She pats the space in between her legs.
“Come on, it’s just sunscreen,” she teases you. You sit on the chair between her legs, trying to ignore the way her her hands are immediately on your hips.
She puts the lotion in her hands and begins applying it to your back. Nat takes her time as she does so. Her hands drift down further and over to your thighs. Deft fingers run over your inner thighs.
“Natasha,” you practically moan.
“You like that, baby?” She asks. Her mouth is next to your ear. You nod and she pulls her hands away. You let out a small whimper. “Don’t do that, sweetheart. You said we were keeping it chill this week.”
Her lips ghost over the back of your neck as she taps your hips for you to stand up. She puts the bottle away and walks towards the waves, leaving you there speechless.
And that’s what she does for the entirety of the next few days. Never missing an opportunity to tease you, she keeps you flustered.
On the final full day, you’re laying out in the sun when Natasha comes up to you. She’s been in the water and her skin glistens with water droplets. She takes her hair down and shakes it out. The water hits your body.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get you wet,” Natasha says. Her words and the look on her face is enough to make you wet, and not from the ocean water.
You stand up and excuse yourself back to the resort. Trying to cool down, you get a water from the fridge. When you close the door, Natasha is standing on the other side of it.
“Fuck! You scared me,” you say.
“Sorry,” she chuckles. She hops on the counter. “You’re not playing it very chill by the way.”
“Me? Says the one who is teasing me!”
Natasha laughs and reaches her hands out for you. You look towards the door and back to Nat. You really do miss being in her arms.
Taking her hands, you step between her legs.
“What’s the harm in not keeping it chill just once?” Nat asks. “Besides I did actually make you wet, didn’t I?”
“Yes.”
“Yes what?” She asks, her fingers hover over the waistband of your bathing suit.
“Yes daddy.”
“There we go, baby.”
Natasha slips her fingers into your suit bottoms and runs them over your slick folds. She smirks at how wet you really are. Slipping then down your legs, she gets off the counter and is on her knees in front of you.
“Oh fuck,” you say as her mouth gets work quickly. You reach for the counter in front of you so you don’t lose your footing. She makes you weak in the knees.
“Be good for me, baby,” she says with a sternness to her voice. Her hands grip the back of your thighs tightly.
You’re so into it that you don’t notice the door opening. But you do hear it close. So does Natasha. She stops eating you out and stands up abruptly.
“Was it Yelena?” She asks.
“I don’t know,” you say. “Oh god, I don’t know.”
You start to pace the kitchen in a panic. Nat hands you your suit bottoms before she goes to the door to see if she can tell who it was. She has no luck.
“Okay relax, baby. If it was Yelena, she would’ve said something. Maybe it was housekeeping or something?” Natasha tries to ease your worries.
“Or it was Kate who will immediately tell Yelena,” you say.
“Let’s just not worry about it, okay? We’ll get cleaned up and get ready for dinner.”
“Okay.”
“Hey, I’ve got you,” she says, taking your face in her hands. She kisses your forehead gently.
It’s not long before Yelena and Kate are back and getting ready for dinner as well. The four of you walk to the restaurant and everything appears to be going smoothly.
Until during dinner when Yelena turns to Kate and asks, “Are you okay? You’ve been quiet all night.”
“Oh yeah, I’m good. It’s just- never mind,” Kate replies. Her eyes bounce between you and Nat. Your pace quickens.
“What is it, babe?” Yelena pushes.
“I saw something,” Kate blurts out. Yelena raises a brow, prompting her to continue. “It was Natasha and y/n they were-“
“We’re dating,” Natasha interrupts Kate. “We have been dating for about a month.”
“Oh,” is Yelena’s only response.
You jump in. “We were going to tell you.”
“Excuse me,” Yelena leaves the table.
Your eyes tear up as you worry about how she reacted and if she will still be your best friend.
“It’s okay, sweetheart,” Nat says. “Stay with Kate. I’m going to go talk to her.” She rubs her hand on your back before she leaves the table.
“I’m sorry,” Kate says. “I just felt like I had to tell her.”
“It’s alright,” you say.
Meanwhile, Natasha finds Yelena back up in the room.
“Why?” Yelena speaks first. “Why my best friend?”
“Because she’s everything to me,” Natasha replies. “When I’m with her, I just feel at home.”
Yelena sees the truth in Natasha’s eyes. She’s never seen her like this before.
“You’re not just hooking up with her?”
“No,” Nat says. “It started the first time that way, but really it was more than that by the time we finished. Yelena, I promise, I’m not going to hurt her.”
Yelena crosses the room and takes her sister into her arms. For so long, they’ve only had each other. And now they both have you.
“Can we go back to dinner?” Natasha asks, holding her little sister tight.
“Yeah,” Yelena says. “Just promise me that nothing with us will change because of this.”
“I promise, sestra,” Natasha says.
The two walk back to the restaurant and Yelena walks ahead to get to you first. She hugs you from behind.
“Don’t hurt my sister,” she says.
“I won’t, I promise.”
“I know,” she says. “Also, don’t tell me anything about your sex life. Got it?”
You laugh at that. “Got it, Yel. I love you.”
“Love you too,” Yelena says. She goes back to her side of the table and Nat sits next to you again.
“We’re okay?” You ask her.
“We’re okay, sweetheart.”
Natasha reaches for your hand underneath the table. With the feeling of her hand in yours, love radiates between the two of you.
And everything feels right.

I'm Tired | Natasha Romanoff x Female Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist | N.R Masterlist
Words: 4.2k
Summary: Your roommate is one annoying individual and you haven't managed to sleep in months. After reaching the end of your tether you have been reduced to taking the next resort, bunking with a stranger. College AU.
✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧:・゚✧
Most nights you had been getting a severe lack of sleep, which wasn't great when you had to wake up for your 8 am lectures. Your roommate Wanda was an absolute sweetheart, the only issue was her new boyfriend, Vision. Before Vision entered the scene, the two of you would study together, watch a movie, and fall asleep at midnight or before. Like the responsible students that you were.
Though ever since Vision, they're up until the early hours of the morning cuddling and chatting whilst watching TV shows. Granted, the main light was always off as a common courtesy to you, but their voices and blaring light from the laptop kept you awake until they got tired and turned it off. Much to your dismay, this rarely occurred before 2 am.
You just weren't confrontational and she seemed so happy, so you didn't have the heart to tell them that they were being the most annoying people in your life currently, and the bar was low. You knew a lot of annoying people.
Another thing that annoyed you is that even without makeup, Wanda would still look stunning waking up every morning after 4 hours of sleep every day. You had to slap on some concealer so that you didn't look like the demon panda from hell. Oh, how you envied people who won the genetic lottery in terms of eye bags and dark circles.
The current night was a particularly bad one. They had started binge-watching "Sweet Tooth" on Netflix, and instead of doing a couple of episodes a night like they normally would do to finish up 'early', they kept watching and watching until they had finished the whole thing. You had been drifting in and out of sleep for hours, but when a new noise blasted from the laptop, your eyes would fly open.
When it was time to wake up and get ready after only getting an hour of uninterrupted sleep you felt all kinds of nauseous and lightheaded, but you were determined to get to class. You rushed into your shared bathroom before Wanda could get a chance to use the shower, and quickly scrubbed at your teeth and tried to style your hair, though your blurry eyes meant that your hands were not cooperating.
After giving up with just throwing it up with a hair tie, you tried your hardest to hide the dark circles that were painfully obvious under your eyes, though no amount of makeup was enough to hide the damage that was done to your skin last night. Once you deemed yourself somewhat respectable, you moved out of the bathroom to throw on whatever clothes appeared in your wardrobe first and left with a granola bar in hand.
You let your feet carry you on autopilot and somehow ended up on the right part of campus. Without even spotting your friends, you were about to walk straight past them, but luckily they noticed you in your zombie-like trance and grabbed ahold of you, pushing you onto your normal space on the bench that you had claimed. Shuri and Kate gave each other concerned glances as they looked at your out-of-it state, before Kate waved a hand in front of your face, snapping you back into reality.
"Hm?", you spoke before yawning and stretching. "How long were you out last night, and why didn't you invite us?", Shuri gave you a playful shove, which you just groaned at, the rattling movement of your head sending a sharp pain through your skull.
"Jeez, seriously what happened to you?", Kate tried, taking the more cautious approach than Shuri, treating you like a deer in headlights as her eyes flashed with worry. "Wanda", you spoke again between a yawn, and the pair beside you rolled their eyes. They knew all about how you had rarely been getting any sleep and kept trying to convince you to tell her to have a 'no sounds past midnight' rule, but you always ignored them. Again, you didn't have a single confrontational bone in your body.
There wasn't much time for them to be able to lecture you though, as you all had to go to your actual lecture, so they linked arms with you and led you over to your first class of the day, which you promptly fell asleep in. Kate had to keep pinching your thigh to keep you awake so that you didn't feel the wrath of Agatha, your ancient culture studies professor.
This was a continuous theme throughout the day, though towards the end of it Shuri had to resort to stomping on your foot with all of her might with the shoes she made that makes no sound. Unfortunately, you were capable of making sound, so you had to hold in your yelps of pain as your foot thumped angrily with the constant disturbance to its peace.
Luckily, you made it through the day and the two walked you back to your dorm, and tucked you in, making sure that you stayed in bed as you had spent the entire walk home babbling about the work you had to catch up on. Though that was important, your two friends knew that you were in desperate need of sleep first. At least a nap.
They left your room content with you getting some well-needed rest, hoping to see you in better spirits tomorrow. You instantly drifted off into a deep slumber, your body basically shutting down from exhaustion. But you only got three hours of sleep before the couple from the depths of Tartarus came bounding through the door. Wanda winced as she spotted your sleepy form stretching under the covers, then sitting up as you rubbed your eyes.
You squinted at them from across the room, your eyes still blurry from the gorgeous sleep that you were rudely ripped away from. "Sorry", she grimaced before chuckling playfully, "It's 5 though! Wake up lazy guts", she walked over and patted where your knees were under the cover before moving over to her bed, Vision following as they got out some of their class resources to start working from.
Immediately you wanted to scream into a pillow, though you didn't want the embarrassment that would come with that, so you begrudgingly reached for your laptop and began completing some worksheets that had been assigned to your class. Your eyes were comically wide as you tried to stare at the screen, urging your brain cells to do something.
They came through after an hour of working on a sheet that should have taken ten minutes, but you counted it as an absolute win and got up to make yourself some noodles. Having only eaten a granola bar and a packet of crisps that day, you practically inhaled the bowl too before settling back down into bed again, curled up into a ball.
Grateful for Vision and Wanda doing some studying, you tried to fall back asleep with the quiet atmosphere, but just as your eyes started drooping, you heard the dreaded theme tune of one of her sitcoms, and the chuckles that came alongside it. Sleep was not going to be a luxury that you could afford any time soon.
Hours passed and you felt like crying. Your body was screaming at you to get some sleep, but the laptop speakers across the room from you were shutting that idea down. Your head was pounding, your mouth was dry and your hands were tingling. Months of minimal sleep were fully starting to catch up to you, and it was not healthy.
At some point during the night, at about 3 am, your mind snapped. You needed to get out of that room, you would sleep in the hallway if you had to. So, you grabbed your comfortable, fluffy blanket from the bottom of your bed and wrapped it around your shoulders, clinging onto it for dear life at the front. "I'm just gonna get some air", you announced to a confused Wanda who frowned but nodded in acceptance. She had thought that you were asleep.
You stepped foot outside of your room, and immediately a draft from the air vents hit you, making you very aware that you were just in your pyjamas. Looking around the dark hallway a little helplessly, you were preparing to sit on the floor and sleep against the wall. It was better than having to sleep in there.
But just before you were about to sit you spotted some light streaming out from underneath the cracks of a door at the other end of the long hallway. So, you started your journey towards it. Like a moth drawn to a flame.
When you reached the door you hesitated with your fist in the air, ready to knock. But when another cold draft hit you, your hand instinctually knocked lightly, conscious of others nearby who were most likely sleeping. You heard some shuffling from behind the door, and you immediately felt nervous. It had only just dawned on you that you had knocked on some stranger's door at three in the morning. They may have even been sleeping but accidentally left the light on, the light was not a valid indicator that this person was awake, though you were proved wrong when the person opened the door fully clothed. Unless they are some weirdo who sleeps in jeans.
When you made eye contact with the woman behind the door you were immediately taken away by her stunning green eyes and her red hair. But you swallowed thickly and stumbled out your next line of words as she looked at you expectedly, confused at why you were at her door at this ungodly hour. "Sorry for disturbing you so late- or early I guess. My roommate always has her partner over and they always watch shit until like 4 am and I haven't slept in months", you sighed.
The harsh stare of the redhead soon turned soft as she took note of how your eyes didn't seem to be able to focus on one thing and how bloodshot they were. It looked painful. "You knocked on the right door", she spoke without smiling but her tone was kind, which confused your sleep-deprived self very much, "I live alone, my roommate lives with her girlfriend now, so you can take the spare bed for the night if you want", she offered with a shrug.
Your eyes lit up which made the corner of her lips twitch up ever so slightly, not that it was noticed by you, you were too busy practically drooling over the fact that there was an empty bed in the vicinity with your name on it. "Thank you, thank you, thank you", you rushed out and she moved out of the way to let you in, gesturing over to the bed in the corner of the room.
Her laptop was open on a PowerPoint presentation and her notebook was open in front of it, so you guessed that she had been doing some late-night studying, but she quickly shut her laptop and packed her notebook away whilst you clambered into bed and wrapped the duvet around yourself. She could see how much you needed the sleep, and she could finish off the final part of her notes on her lunch break tomorrow.
Even with the light on, you had immediately fallen asleep. The fact that it was a quiet room was enough for your brain to drift off, and now that you couldn't see her, she smiled softly at your now relaxed features and quickly went into her bathroom to get into her own pyjamas, before turning the light off and slipping into her own bed.
You slept like a baby for the remainder of that night and woke up feeling ever so slightly more refreshed than you had done for a while. Due to having none of your things in her room, you had to bid her farewell fairly early in the morning so that the two of you could get ready for your respective classes. Though you found out that her name was Natasha, and she insisted that it was no problem that you stayed over when you started apologising as soon as you were both awake.
The newfound energy that you had did not go unnoticed by your friends who were happy to see that you weren't on the verge of collapsing. Though the energy did not last long at all. The next month was worse than the last, and you truly did not know how Wanda and Vision were not dead. You felt like a walking corpse every day, and you had been tempted many times to go to Natasha again and again, but you didn't want to disturb her too much, so only settled for when you were truly desperate.
She had insisted that you hadn't been bothering her, but you didn't know if she was just being polite, so you still kept the visits to a minimum. She was a nice person and you felt like you had connected with her on your last few visits, indulging in some conversation before going to sleep. She had been a very closed-off person when you first met her, but now she would freely talk to you and would look very happy to see you.
You had promised yourself not to visit Natasha at 3 am again for a few more days as your last visit had been rather recent, but you had reached a breaking point and you needed her. Tears pooled in your eyes as Wanda and Vision started watching "Kimmy Schmidt" at 2 am. You were so tired.
You felt sick constantly these days, and you knew that you couldn't go on much longer with the amount of disturbed sleep that you were getting. So, again you stood up with your blanket and announced that you were going to get some air. You shuffled over to Natasha's room and saw that the light was still on, causing a smile to break out on your face for a second, but then the exhaustion overpowered you again as some of those tears started rolling down your cheeks.
She answered quickly after you had knocked, and this time she answered in her pyjamas, almost as if she was expecting you at some point over the next few days. She went to give you a hello and a smile, but when her eyes took in your appearance she was shocked.
The last time you had seen her you had looked tired sure, but this time you really did look unwell. She took notice of the tears streaming down your face, how puffy your under eye was, how dry your lips were, and you were shivering under your blanket. "I'm sorry", you whimpered as a sob escaped your lips, "I'm just so tired".
"Oh, honey", she said soothingly and tugged you into her room, shutting the door and wrapping her arms around you after. You clung on for dear life as you cried into her shoulder, though she didn't mind. She rocked you from side to side and rubbed your back reassuringly. Whilst you were standing by the door she took the opportunity to turn the light off, the darkness immediately soothing your sore eyes.
Your cries subsided after a few minutes of standing in the darkness, which Natasha was happy about. She hated seeing you upset. Though you had come into her life in an unusual way, she couldn't imagine hers without you now, and it was rare for Natasha to feel a connection to someone so soon. She had even planned on asking you out the next night that she saw you, but now her main focus was on calming you down for the night. Luckily, it was a Friday night so she didn't have to wake you up in the morning for class.
You were basically already falling asleep in her arms, which she could tell as you had started getting heavier in her hold. Swiftly and with ease, she looped an arm under one of your legs and lifted you up, your other leg wrapping around her waist without a single thought going into it. Being in Natasha's arms felt natural and safe.
Her heart melted at how much you trusted her whilst you were in such a vulnerable state, and with help of muscle memory, she navigated over to her bed in the dark and laid down with you still clinging to her, placing the duvet over the top of the both of you for warmth.
When she placed a kiss on the crown of your head and started to run her fingers through your hair, you hummed in contentment and pushed your head further into the crook of her neck. Only when she felt your breath even out did she fall asleep, knowing that you were okay. She would make sure that you were okay. Always.
-4 months later-
"Nat?", you shouted from your en suite bathroom out into your dorm room, though you got no response. With a sigh you yelled her name again, and yet again not a peep could be heard from your girlfriend. With a huff and narrowed eyes, you swivelled on the balls of your feet and looked towards the bathroom door expectedly, maybe Natasha had heard you and was about to walk into the room. However, your hopes did not come true.
Dramatically you ran a hand through your hair, "Tasha!", you yelled from your place, and immediately she popped her head around the corner with a disgruntled look. "Baby you know I hate that nickname", she pouted slightly with an amused glint in her eyes, causing you to laugh. In front of everyone else, Natasha was a closed book, she never wanted anyone to know what she was feeling. 'Showing emotions shows people you're vulnerable', she would always say whenever you brought it up. But with you, she never hid how she felt away.
The fact that she felt safe enough to be herself around you always made a warm feeling spread through your chest whenever you were reminded of it, such as now. The pet names and funny faces were a quick reminder that this was your Natasha. Or, 'your Tasha' as you liked to tease her. "I know but you weren't responding to your normal name!", you exasperated, it wasn't your fault that you had to resort to other measures to get her attention.
"Oh... sorry", Nat frowned, "I was just closing up one of your boxes and got distracted I guess", she shrugged, though the sudden change in demeanour jolted you. Due to you getting zero hours of sleep with Wanda and Vision continuing their usual antics, when you started dating Nat you basically spent all of your time in her room thanks to the spare bed. After four months of dating, she started to get sick of you having to leave and spend your time in between both rooms, so she suggested that you officially transfer dorms and move into her room.
It was a big step, but since you had basically been living there anyway it made sense for you to have all of your things in one place. Plus, you and Natasha were excited to be able to spend even more time with each other, if that was possible. The two have you had been very excited in the leadup to the transfer, so her sudden change worried you. "Hey, are you okay?", you took a few steps forward to reach where she was leaning on the doorframe and ran a soft hand down her arm, leading to interlock your fingers.
Nat seemed to hesitate, but the way that your eyes shone with adoration and seemingly stared into her soul made her feel like she could say what was wrong. It was you. She was safe. "I know I'm not easy to love, I don't show my feelings the same way that others do- I don't know I guess I'm just worried that you're going to get sick of me".
Your heart broke at her insecurities shining through, and anger bubbled up aimed at whoever had made her feel like that. "Woah, who told you that you're hard to love?", you said with wide eyes, genuinely shocked. You received an answer in the form of her jaw tightening and swallowing harshly. She didn't want to talk about it.
Sending a soft smile her way, you shook your head, "You're so easy to love sweetheart, so easy, I love everything about you. I could never get sick of you, you're my person".
"You're my person too", she whispered as unshed tears lined her eyes, and she dipped her head down slightly, brushing her lips against yours before you took the next step and leaned in further, capturing hers. It was slow and intimate as your hands travelled up her back and hers resided on your waist, proving in totality how you feel for each other. How you get butterflies every time she walks into a room, how all air escaped her lungs the first time she heard your morning voice, how her touch made fireworks explode in your heart, and how your smile made her feel at home.
When a creaking noise could be heard in the main room, you two pulled away with soft smiles before she guided you out hand in hand, finding Wanda and Vision standing looking around the room, your half now empty aside from the cardboard boxes that were scattered about the space. Even after everything you and Wanda were still good friends, you just couldn't share a space with her. She had always made sure that you were eating well, she invited you on impromptu trips out to coffee shops or ice cream parlours, and you would help each other with essay reviews. You couldn't ask for a better friend, she was just a shoddy roommate. Though the fact that you were moving out of the room made you feel nostalgic for time passed, and apparently she felt the same.
As she looked at your side of the room you spotted her bottom lip wobbling slightly and you felt your heart drop, "Oh, Wands", you cooed and engulfed her in a big bear hug. She chuckled tearily and squeezed you back, "Promise you'll still come and hang out?", she pleaded against your shoulder, and you nodded with an "Of course". When you pulled away from the hug you gave each other a small nod with a thousand hidden meanings. But the time had finally come for you to say goodbye to her. Just for now. After all, she was only a few doors down.
Whilst you and Wanda said your final goodbyes, Natasha and Vision worked together on moving the boxes over to your now shared room. You felt guilty for not helping with the heavy work, but Natasha kept reassuring you that it was okay and that it was more important for you to be able to say goodbye. You grinned at her being so understanding as you made your way over to your new room. The afternoon and evening was spent unpacking all of your things, eating pizza, and listening to the 'Do Revenge' Spotify playlist. The last one was self-explanatory, it's a great soundtrack.
When everything was unpacked and the two of you looked at your handiwork, you felt a great sense of joy overcome you. You were sharing a home, albeit a small college dorm, but still a home, with the person that made you feel the safest in the world. You were beyond ecstatic. Though this feeling soon plummeted when you saw Nat frowning at your side and tutting. "This won't do", she sighed and released her grip that was around your waist.
At first, you had thought that maybe she had suddenly changed her mind, which would be shitty considering you had just unpacked all of your stuff, but when she began awkwardly shuffling your bed across the room, a grin spread across your face again.
Her chest heaved when she had accomplished her task, and she joined you at your side again, snaking her hand back around your waist. She had pushed the beds together, making your heart swell for the hundredth time that day. "We will need new bedsheets to fit as it's now a double, but whaddya think?", she questioned and nervously chewed on her lip.
"It's perfect", you breathed out and looked at Natasha with heart eyes before jumping on the bed in a starfish position with a giggle, an amused Nat rolling her eyes behind you. You lay in peace for a few seconds, before a grunt escaped your lips as a certain redhead landed on top of you, your face now smushed into the pillows.
Before you could complain, she wrapped her arms around you and rolled over, her back on the mattress and yours on her front. "Are we just gonna lie like this?", you spoke with a blank face, it was a rather awkward position. But when Nat replied with a chirpy "Yep!", and squeezed you tighter, her face nuzzling into the back of your neck, you couldn't help but smile. You never wanted her to let you go.

College AU (Gender Neutral Reader X Wanda Maximoff)
Summary: Wanda discovers a crush she never thought of.
Word Count: 1.2K
Tumblr media
Wanda Maximoff wasn't sure when it happened, but one day, she started looking at you a little bit differently.
She started noticing how your laughter made her smile longer and more than it used to. Or how when you talked about your friend Kate Bishop from the Archery team, it made her jealous. Not that she even needed to worry because everyone knew about Kate and Yelena's long-standing relationship.
But Wanda still didn't like the feeling she got when you joked around and made plans with Kate or Carol or any other girl that wasn't her.
Regardless, Wanda wasn't sure what to do. You guys had been friends since your second year of high school.  Now, in your second year at university, Wanda needed more time to think. She didn't want to ruin anything between the two of you. Because deep down, Wanda knew you would always be fine whether she shared what was inside of her or not.
After a month of sitting on these ever-growing feelings, Wanda was going to do something about it. She had acted as if nothing had changed between you both. But Wanda was falling more for you every day. And call her crazy, but she could've sworn you had started falling for her between game nights and movie nights, where you two fell asleep in each other's arms—or talked into the morning. Or how you made sure to stay up late and sleep through your first class, all to help Wanda pass her exam.
Wanda was sure you fell, too.
So she made a choice.
Wanda was going to ask you out.
She remembers the day. She got back from the library frustrated from how the rain washed out the smell of you from her favorite hoodie—a hoodie you let her borrow two years prior. Plus, Pietro and his group of friends from track distracting her from taking notes the last hour hadn't helped. On top of those two things, Wanda hasn't seen you at all today. She thought she saw you in the library, but Wanda was wrong.
She missed you. She missed you when she had to get to Professor Fury's class early for some extra credit, and you didn't have time to hang out during her free period. So now, after a wasted library time and missed dinner, Wanda was mad. Mad at today and the way her feelings made her want to scream. All she wanted was you, and the fear of not telling you wasn't winning today.
So what did Wanda do?
She threw her bag and books down onto the shared couch and sprinted her way to your door in the shared suite. Wanda knocked on it like a secret code was separating the two of you. Oh, sweet Wanda was so distracted thinking of the right words and how to phrase them that she didn't even realize that this door was never closed.
Never.
So when it opened and didn't reveal you but instead senior Natasha Romanoff, Wanda's heart cracked in half and sank. "Oh, hi! Wanda right?" She spoke, not knowing that Wanda didn't want to talk to her. Wanda didn't even want to look at her. But Wanda couldn't see past the redhead and was raised to be polite, so she swallowed her tears and smiled.
"Yeah. Hi. Sorry, I didn't know we were having guests." Wanda hated how nonchalant Natasha was in this moment. "Oh, it's no big deal. I came over because I figured I could help Y/N pick out classes for next year." Natasha winked. She fucking winked. "You know, same major and all."
"Right.." Wanda mumbled.
You and Wanda were supposed to do that together. Not that that hurt more than knowing that you and Natasha did not have the same major. Thanks to Yelena and her loud mouth, Wanda knew precisely what major Natasha was graduating with in the spring.
"Wanda?" Finally, you made your presence known as you snuck right up to Natasha, who slung her arm over your body. The fire that burned behind Wanda's eyes tried to light again but failed when she saw how wide your smile was. "What happened? You're soaked?" You moved forward towards Wanda, who held the end of the sleeves in her hand. Something you always noticed. A way you knew she was uncomfortable. But tonight, you didn't comment on it. "Yeah, um, it just started raining." Wanda looked away from your eyes and pretended that she forgot the reason for knocking on your door. She couldn't remember what excuse she came up with.
"Oh shit!" The person separating the two of you spoke up. "If it's raining, that means I have to go and pick up Yelena. Kate and her are in an off period right now." Natasha runs back into the room. Wanda knows she'll never step foot in again. "Hey, you okay?" You finally go to take hold of Wanda's hands, but she pulls them back. "Yeah, I'm fine.." Wanda puts her hands into the hoodie pocket. But her mind fights with her. "Well, actually-"
"Alright!" Natasha opens the door with her bag and books in hand. "If you need any more help, text me, okay?" Natasha asks you as your eyes return to her. "Okay." You smile at the redhead while Wanda feels like she's about to throw up. "And maybe we can hang out tomorrow night? My place?" Natasha asks like the double meaning isn't obvious.
Wanda misses it, but your eyes fall on her figure briefly before you agree. "Sure. Tomorrow." Natasha smiles like she just won the lottery. "Okay. Bye!" Wanda turns back just in time for Natasha's lips to land on your cheek. "Nat, go!" You laugh as the older woman rolls her eyes and sneaks by you and your roommate.
"Bye, Wanda."
Wanda doesn't respond, leaving an awkward tension in the air that Natasha quickly evacuates—leaving just you and her.
"Wanda, I meant to tell you about- no, wait, I'm sorry yo-you wanted to say something earlier. You said well, actually.." Wanda fakes a laugh, tricking you. "Yeah, you're right. I just don't remember what I was going to say. Jeez, I just don't know where my mind is tonight.." Wanda swallows the lump in her throat. Sure that she'll crumble if she keeps talking to you. "Oh." You say. "Do you need help with anything? Studying, or do you want to chill? We can watch those shows you love if you want." Wanda appreciates the thoughts, but all she wants to do is be left alone.
"No thanks. I- I uh, I think I need to rest." Wanda waves you off and heads to her room. Closing the door and locking it. Like yours, her door was never closed.
Once inside, Wanda throws the hoodie off of her as if it burns her body and collapses on her bed. Shoving her face into her pillow, muffling the heartbreaking noise that escapes her throat. Hot tears streaming down her face. All for you. All because of you.
You.
You who didn't know when it happened, but one day, you started looking at Wanda a little bit differently.
Tonight, you planned on doing something about it.
Until Natasha Romanoff stopped you in the library.

When your academic rival gets the graduate assistant job you wanted, you’re standoffish towards each other until one party changes everything

It’s finally summer break. Well, for exactly one week it was. You decided to stay for summer classes and try to graduate early, so you only got one week of break.
That part isn’t ideal, but some of your friends are also staying. You’re determined to make it a fun summer anyways.
As you and Wanda walk to class, you catch up on her week at home.
“How was your family?” You ask her.
“Clingy,” she says. “But really good. Pietro asked about you.” She says the last part with a grin knowing that Pietro has had a crush on you since he met you.
“Not my type,” you say, laughing as you open the door to the building.
Wanda chuckles and you follow her inside.
“Right. Your type is redhead sisters of your close friend,” she teases.
“Wands, I do not have a type and it’s certainly not Natasha!”
Wanda laughs it off and you two walk into the classroom. You sit next to her and later Kate comes in and sits on your other side.
“Who got the graduate assistant job?” Another one of your friends, Peter, asks the group.
“I don’t know. I just know it wasn’t me,” you say with a bite to your tone.
You were up for the role despite being a year away from graduation. The professor, Dr. Banner, had loved your writing this semester and he was going to make an exception for you. But at the last minute someone else applied and got the job.
You’re still teeming from the memory when none other than Natasha Romanoff walks in. Was she in this class? Surely she had taken it already.
“Hello everyone. Dr. Banner is running behind, so I’m going to be leading class today. I’m Natasha your graduate assistant,” the redhead introduces herself.
She throws a glance your way and you cross your arms over your chest. Of course she got the job. Dr. Banner practically drools over her.
Natasha starts going over the syllabus with the class and dives into the material. You don’t say a word the entire lecture. She notices.
“I will see you all tomorrow,” Natasha says. Everyone gathers their things, but you’re stopped by her voice. “Can you hang back, y/n?”
You stay put and wait for your classmates to leave. Natasha leans against the desk and looks you over. You feel warm under her gaze.
“Are you not going to participate in class?” Nat asks.
“Not when you got the job I deserved,” you say.
“Ah,” Nat revels. “I’m sorry.”
You scoff at her words. She stands up straighter. You don’t miss the way her dress hugs her hips as she does so.
“I am sorry. Even if you don’t believe me. We both applied for the job. It’s not personal,” Nat says.
“You only got the job because Banner wants to fuck you.”
“How dare you?” Nat says. She invades your space and you’re overcome by the scent of her. “Maybe Bruce wants to sleep with me, which never ever will happen. But I got this job because I’m qualified for it. I worked for it. Do not reduce me to something that man wants.”
You don’t really know how to reply. You know everything she said is true and you feel bad for even questioning her qualification.
“Are you going to say anything?” Nat asks.
“I’m sorry. I’ll participate in class tomorrow,” you say.
Natasha backs away from you and gathers her papers from the desk.
“Good. Your grade depends on it and I’d hate for a pretty girl like you to fail this class,” she says. Her tone changed and for the first time you really think you might be attracted to her.
You leave the classroom and meet up with your classmates to do your homework. The next couple of weeks go by pretty smoothly. You participate and find Natasha to be tolerable despite her position.
She wears dresses and button ups that threaten to distract you, but you keep trying to fight your attraction to her.
It’s one week before finals when you meet up with your classmates to study.
But at some point the study session turns into a drinking game.
You’re a few shots in when your friend Yelena walks in the door. She’s been home for the summer, so you haven’t seen her.
“Yelena!” You pull her into a hug and kiss her cheeks.
“Hi drunk, y/n,” she says, chuckling at your over affectionate self. “I brought Nat hope that’s cool.”
Before you can reply, Yelena is off to talk to her girlfriend. Natasha appears behind her. She’s wearing a light blue button up shirt and khakis. She is wearing what she had on in class today and she looks so good.
“This doesn’t look like studying,” Natasha says, taking in the scene. There are people everywhere drinking and chatting.
“You want a drink?” You ask her, ignoring her comment.
She nods and you grab her a beer. You get pulled away to play a game and beer pong, but after you win you try and find Nat again.
She’s outside and you bring her another drink. Nat accepts it easily, getting a little buzz of her own.
“You look good,” she tells you. It catches you off guard.
“Oh, thanks. You look good too,” you tell her. And she does. She’s undone some of her shirt buttons and her bra peaks out just a bit from her shirt.
“Thank you, y/n,” Nat says. It’s dark but you think you see her blush. It’s quiet for a moment as the two of you stand together. She breaks the silence. “I forgot you were friends with my sister.”
“Oh yeah. Yelena and I have been friends since freshman year. She’s great.”
“I’m inclined to agree. Do you think Kate is good for her?” Nat asks. It’s already the longest conversation you’ve ever had with the woman.
You nod. “They’re both really happy.”
“Good,” Nat says. “What about you? Are you seeing anyone?”
“Nope,” you say. “Although my friend’s brother is into me, so it is nice to be crushed on.”
Natasha chuckles and takes a sip of her beer. You notice the way her neck flexes as she leans it back and swallows the drink.
“You’re so beautiful,” you blurt out, feeling unfiltered from the shots you took earlier. “I mean- yeah you’re beautiful and I’m annoyed by your academic success but I also find you incredibly attractive.”
She smirks at your rambling. Natasha shifts closer to you. Her lips hover over yours.
“I also find you attractive,” Natasha says. “And I really want to kiss you right now.”
“Please.”
Natasha closes the distance and kisses you. Her empty hand comes to the back of your neck to deepen the kiss. When her tongue moves into your mouth, you feel weak in your knees.
“My bedroom is upstairs,” you tell her once you break for air.
“Let’s go,” she says.
You take her hand and pull her through the crowded rooms to your bedroom. She closes the door behind herself and kisses you again. And again and again.
“I want you,” you tell her. “I thought about this when you were up there teaching today.”
“Oh yeah?” Nat asks. She kisses your neck and bites against your skin gently.
“Mhm, I don’t remember what the lesson was about.”
Natasha smirks against your neck and slips her hand under your shirt. Her strong hand moves over your side and pushes your shirt up. She stops kissing you long enough to slip the shirt over your head.
“Fuck you’re gorgeous,” Natasha says as her eyes rake over your body.
The two of fall back into your bed. You reach for her hips to pull her closer. She straddles your hips and kisses you again. You begin to unbutton her shirt and you leave a kiss to her exposed skin with every button.
When you open the shirt completely, you waste no time unclasping the bra that had just barely been showing earlier.
“Oh Natasha,” you say before you take her nipple into your mouth. She moans at the feeling.
“I get the feeling you don’t hate me,” Natasha says as she begins unbuttoning your pants. You continue your efforts against her chest.
“Not right now I don’t,” you say. She smirks and slips a hand into your pants. You can imagine how wet you are down there.
Nat pulls her chest away from your lips and moves down the bed. She slips your pants off and takes off her own. Her red lacy panties don’t leave much to your imagination.
“Fuck me,” you mumble. She chuckles and lays on her stomach, settling between your legs. She kisses the dark spot against your underwear, teasing you with her hands on your thighs.
“You’re so wet for me, baby. God I love it,” she says. “You don’t know how many times I imagined you just like this. All spread out for me.” She drops kisses to your thighs as she slips your underwear off your legs.
“You imagined this?” You ask her.
Nat pauses and moves back up your body. She hovers over you with her arms on either side of you. Leaning down she stops just short of your lips.
“I’ve imagined this. I’ve wanted you for so long. I had to take care of myself every night after class because I couldn’t get you out of my head,” Natasha explains.
You pull her lips to yours and kiss her until you’re dizzy. She grins and moves back to her previous spot.
“Fuck Natasha,” you moan as she dives right in this time. You’re not embarrassed for how wet you are for her. It makes you feel so good how she basks in the pleasure of you.
She uses her fingers to work around the edges of your folds and her tongue licks and sucks expertly. She’s definitely done this before.
When your legs begin to shake, she knows you’re close but she doesn’t stop her ministrations. She goes faster, adding a finger to work in tandem with her tongue.
“Nat,” you whisper, pleasure keeping you from being any louder. “Please.”
“Let go, detka,” she says. Her deep voice vibrates against you and cum hard against her tongue.
Natasha keeps her lips on you until you’re pushing on her head to ask for a break. She kisses your hips, stomach, and breasts as she makes her way to your face again.
“Are you okay?” She asks. Her hand rests on your cheek, it feels so loving, so soft.
“I’m- I feel amazing,” you tell her. She smiles and brushes her thumb over your face.
You kiss her softly, but the want for her takes over quickly and you’re pulling her onto you again. You slip off her panties and can’t help the gasp that you let out. Her body is just so perfect.
She moves her hips against you and moans when your leg falls between hers. You feel her wetness against your leg.
“I’m going to ride your thigh, baby,” Natasha says. You’re not going to say no to that.
You reach for her hips and help her move against you. She’s above you, her perfect breasts moving with every thrust of her hips.
“Come for me, Natasha. Show me how you thought about me each night after class,” you say. You know the talking is working when Nat has to fight to keep her hips going. “You’re so hot right now. Being so good for me.”
“Fuck,” she mumbles.
“That’s it, sweetheart. I thought about you when I touched myself too, Nat. Keep going.”
Her movements become more erratic and she’s coming on your thigh. It’s the hottest thing you’ve ever seen.
Once Natasha’s recovered, she lays next to you and you reach for her hand. She grips yours back easily.
“How do you feel?” You ask her, turning your head to face her. She’s got her eyes closed, and when she opens then you’re lost in the sea of green.
“I feel like I’m dangerously close to falling in love with you,” Natasha admits.
“Is that a bad thing?” You ask.
“No,” Nat says with a smirk. “But technically I am your teacher.”
“Yeah, that’s true. Well, maybe you can give me an A on my exam then?”
Natasha laughs and leans in to kiss your forehead.
“It was worth a shot,” you joke. “Really, I like you so much.”
“I like you so much, too. The class is over in a week and then we can go out,” Nat says. “If you’d like to,” she adds shyly.
“Of course,” you say. “Would you like to stay tonight? I mean it’s already late and you live across campus and-“
“Yes,” Nat interrupts your rambling. “I think technically this would still count as the same evening so we could-“
You cut her off with a kiss. The kind that is definitely going to lead to more. When you pull away, Nat is smiling mischievously.
“Oh, you’re definitely getting an A for tonight,” Natasha says.
“I haven’t even taken the exam yet,” you climb onto her and she giggles happily. It’s the most carefree you’ve ever seen her.
You sink down onto the mattress and settle between her legs.
“I get it,” Nat says aloud. “An oral exam.”
You share a long laugh with her. Mostly because you didn’t even mean to make that reference. But when you bury your face between her legs, suddenly everything becomes clear about how you feel about her.
And you know that you want her more than anything else in the world.

As the hundredth whine from your lips sounds out today, you are glad that no one else is home. You would be scolded for being more dramatic than Sam during that week after his concussion while simultaneously yelled at for doing too much when you should be resting.
The words have since long started to blur together and the pen is clutched tightly in your hand without even touching the paper for half an hour. You can't remember comprehending the change from afternoon sun to complete darkness outside of your window, but you do know that you have piled on three layers of clothes only to tear them off of your overheated body in the last hour.
Fucking fevers. It's incredible how you forget how absolutely horrible they are between each time, but battling this one seems especially miserable when you have a test in four days. Your roommates had begged you to come with them to this god awful long Lord of The Rings marathon at the local cinema, but you were stressed out about the test enough without losing a full day of studying.
You have gotten some things done. It's just that your room is drowning in tissues, and the pills you've taken haven't done shit and your back hurts from sitting for so long. What you really want to do is take your comforter out to the couch and open all the windows with the AC on full blast. No—what you actually want is to be rid of this fucking cold and sit lodged between Steve and Bucky at the cinema, warm hands on your thighs with an obscene amount of chocolate in your lap. You know that Bucky would whisper random facts about the movies in your ear during the entirety of it, and that Steve would give him angry glares for speaking in the theater.
God, if it weren't for your body's excessive temperature, you would kill for them to hold you. It would suck in reality, because both of them run hot and that is the last thing you need right now. But you miss them. You miss them all the time lately and it frustrates you, because six months ago things weren't like this. Steve and Bucky were two of your annoying, though very sweet, roommates who bickered like siblings constantly at ungodly hours in the morning and left dirty dishes out in the living room (thank fucking god Bucky has stopped doing that).
Now, you dream weird dreams about them at night and shiver everytime they touch you. Calling you by name has suddenly turned into 'sweetheart' and 'bug' (still can't quite figure that one out), while merely the sight of Steve unintentionally flexing his bicep and Bucky moving his metal fingers makes you want to escape into your room. It's hard, because they are pretty much doing that everyday.
Worst of all is your resentment towards Natashashe caught on so quickly that you barely managed to slip out of Steve's room the night you slept over before she confronted you about your feelings. She very conveniently left out the bet she and Sam had set up, but Bucky found out about that two weeks later and pushed Sam into some bushes. The latter complained about how Bucky didn't cater to his 'bush-related trauma' for much too long after that.
But at the same time, she reinforces your delusions about them liking you back. They are very protective of you, sure, but so are Sam and Natasha. Actually, that might have something to do with your constant knack of getting into the trouble rather than harboring secret, unconditional love for you. Natasha says they look at you with puppy dog eyes, but you think they just always look like that. And the constant touching and pet names are just—it's just who they are. You think.
Another onslaught of heat crashes over your tired body, and you give up completely. There comes a point where even you can't force yourself to work anymore. It's too draining. Instead you gulp down another pill, turn off the lights and throw yourself onto your bed. You groan out of pleasure, but know that it will soon disappear only to be replaced by torturous discomfort.
Yeah, it's good that they aren't here. Gathering the energy to deal with a smug Sam and overbearing Natasha is not in your capacity.
Besides, facing them in this state feels embarrassing. You'll pull yourself together by the time they come home. Just a short nap, and you'll fix your hair. Just twenty minutes of sleep, and you'll put on something presentable. Just some rest, and you'll look good for them.
Tumblr media
"Ah, shit—why's it fucking pitch black in here?" Sam seethes as he now limps on his newly stubbed toe, reaching for the hallway light.
The living room is empty and so is the kitchen, they notice that pretty quickly. Usually when you're home alone you cook something elaborate with music blasting in the background, or rewatch that show for the thousandth time. Bucky always gives you a hard time for it, but he usually ends up watching it with you anyways.
"Y/n?" Steve calls out, taking off his jacket before hanging it up on the rack placed by the door.
"Hey, bug—we're home!" Bucky says, walking further into the apartment while searching with his eyes.
The lack of answer gives them anxiety, even though it's probably nothing. Might've gone out. It's Saturday night after all. But you don't really have many close friends outside of them. Unless you're on a date, which quite frantically makes Bucky want to throw up. Yeah, he chooses not to believe that for his own sake.
Natasha bites off another section of her snickers, the one she made everyone stop at the gas station for, while toeing off her shoes. Shoe-free household since you moved in, but exceptions are allowed in emergencies. If you knew that both Bucky and Steve have on theirs right now, you would be mad. But Natasha isn't about to nag about that—she's more focused on getting a huge glass of water for herself. She knows those idiots will take care of whatever's going on.
Steve knocks on your door, waits for too many seconds before calling out for you again.
"Y/n? You okay?" he asks, leaning against the wall.
And because Steve is a considerate man, he doesn't open the door without an answer. But the same can't be said for Bucky—he shoulders past the former and pushes down the door handle without even so much as a sound. He is met with resistance as soon as he steps over the threshold, but all of it comes from the guy behind him.
"Buck—no," Steve seethes through a whisper, trying to pull him back by his shirt unsuccessfully.
Your room is as dark as the rest of the apartment was. Warm and stuffy, rid of any fresh air from outside of the four walls. You've been in here for a long time.
The small strip of light coming into your room reveals your figure splayed out over the unruly covers, a sign of tossing and turning in your sleep.
"Let her sleep, Buck," Steve sighs, rubbing his forehead with the back of his hand while leaning against the doorway.
It would be near goddamn foolish to ever expect him to listen. Steve isn't surprised when Bucky steps towards your bed anyway. He lowers down into a crouch, reaching his right hand out for your face.
"Christ, she's burning up," Bucky sighs, pushing himself up to his feet again.
"Shit," Steve answers, passing the threshold into your room while forgetting the previous reservations he held. And as if Bucky's judgement isn't enough, he presses the back of his hand to your forehead. Steve's hand is normally warm, but your skin is a hot furnace against the lines and creases of his palm.
"Fuck, we just left her here all alone." Bucky shakes his head. "We watched fucking Lord of the Rings that we've seen a million fucking times and she laid here suffering with a fucking fever."
"Tone it down with the 'fucks', will you?" Steve tells him.
He turns on the small lamp standing on your bedside table, soft light revealing the dozen tissues spilling out of your trash can. There's not much doubt about your sickness now.
"What do we do? Oh god, what do we do?" The brunette starts pacing as if he has never been more stressed in his life.
"Calm down, Buck. It's a cold, not a heart attack." Steve raises his brows, turns around to glare at his friend. "You've taken care of me dozens of times when I was like this as a child. Go get a glass of water and a few Tylenols."
It seems like it takes a few seconds for Bucky to register Steve's words. Even then he looks anxious, as if he doesn't want to leave. This makes Steve nervous, because Bucky never acts like this, but then again he feels the same way. That's why he told his friend to get you medicine instead of himself.
But Steve could never deny Bucky anything, even if it costs him time watching over the girl he almost certainly cares for more than a friend should. He ignores that part though, and pushes himself up to a stand.
"I'll go," he sighs, gesturing for Bucky to replace him by your side.
The short trek towards the kitchen is filled with anxiety. Why does his heart beat so fast when it's probably just a cold? He just told Bucky to calm down despite feeling anything but calm himself. Just gotten very good at hiding it through the years, he supposes.
Steve has never been the caretaker. He so desperately wanted to be that person during his childhood—the fierce protector, the strong hero, the one bullies cowered away from instead of running towards. Maybe he has been overcompensating for his lack of heroism in his early years now with his friends. The guilt is always eating him up if even the slightest thing happens, because most of the time he can stop those things now. Steve is tall and muscular, fast too, and he's not afraid to speak up anymore.
But things like these—sicknesses—he cannot help except for pouring water down your throat and make sure you're comfortable. Because he wants you to be comfortable so badly, as the slightest sight of pain in any shape or form makes him as gloomy as Sam on days where his favorite football team loses. Steve has known for a while now that you—the girl living on the other end of the hallway who curls up at his side on movie nights and bakes him cookies after each test he's had—is much more than just a roommate. God, he waits by the door for you to come home like a puppy, for goodness's sake. Gets a hard on at least once a day no matter what you are wearing.
And Steve really likes this thing he and Bucky has going on with you. That caretaking thing that he never has gotten a chance to do is now so natural. He and Bucky has adapted this protector-role in your life that makes Steve feel so good. He likes making you happy, making sure you're safe. Like he has a purpose.
"She alright?" Sam speaks up as Steve passes by his room, changing out of his thick sweatshirt to a thinner t-shirt.
"Not really. She has a fever," Steve answers, both hands filled with water, pills and more tissues.
"Oh, shit. How bad? Dr. Wilson bad?"
"No." Steve rolls his eyes. One time Sam helped patch you up and now he has been calling himself Dr. Wilson ever since. "We're taking care of it. She hasn't woken up yet."
"Well, just call for me if she gets tired of your needy asses and wants some Sammy loving instead."
Steve raises his eyebrows, shakes his head like he always does, and moves on. He purposefully quiets his steps down while walking past the occupied bathroom—a fuzzing Natasha is not what you need right now. You already got two overbearing people in your room.
The door is shouldered open by Steve as he returns, realizing as soon as he steps inside that your eyes are open, tiredly nodding along to whatever recap Bucky is giving you of the movies. Steve stays silent, setting down his gifts beside you before crouching down. Soon enough you have him staring up at you, that ever present frown in between his brows.
"Now, will you tell us why in the goddamn hell you did not call or text any of us to say that you were sick?" Steve asks sternly, though his hand is gentle on your head. "Excuse the language."
You let a chuckle slip despite his lecture, because of course he needs to apologize for the very tame curse words inserted into his sentences. Of course Steve scolds you before even saying hello. Such a dad.
"You were at the cinema..." you croak out, glancing down at your intertwined fingers.
"So?" Bucky says with a look on his face that reveals he has no idea what you are talking about.
"I thought you wouldn't notice if I just—didn't think it would get this bad." You pout visibly. A bead of sweat has formed in your hairline, steadily making its trek down your forehead.
"Wait a minute, Y/n—you thought we just wouldn't notice you holing yourself up in your room for days until you were fine again?" Bucky raises his eyebrows, nearly rolling his eyes on you. It sounds dumb now that he says it out loud.
"Yes..."
"For god's sake, bug." He lets his palms scrub over his face while Steve sighs, balancing on the scale between amused and concerned.
"I didn't want to bother you! Besides I'm—this is not my finest moment. Kind of disgusting right now," you say.
"Now, c'mon," Steve tells you with a pointed gaze. "You know we don't care about that."
"You look fucking adorable right now. Just a little shiny, that's all." Bucky pokes you in the forehead, earning an offended gasp from your lips.
"Hey! I have a fever, asshole. I can't help it." The expression on your face is offended, but inside it's all warm and fuzzy because he called you adorable. Bucky fucking called you adorable.
But the playful grin on your lips soon turns into rumbling coughs, hiding your face into your elbow to avoid spreading saliva all over the two men beside you.
"Hey, hey. Take some water, Y/n. Here." Steve's hand flies to your back, rubbing gently, while reaching out the glass towards your lips.
Your throat is all scratchy and sore, and coughing up half of your lungs does not help in the least. But gulping down the cold liquid soothes the pain for the moment, even though most of the water drops down your chin.
"Should I...uh—"
Bucky reaches his hand out towards the box of tissues on your nightstand. Calloused fingers brush over your skin as he rids it of the stray drops, a metal hand tilting your chin up.
It's entirely too silent as you sit and let your face be dried like a toddler. Steve puffs up the pillow behind you, readjusts it until your face is getting enough support.
You don't say anything. Nobody says anything. The two of them work in tandem as they usually do, and have done since they were little boys, while making sure you're as comfortable as you possibly can be.
Soon enough there is a fan dragged in from someone else's room (you think there might be an angry Samuel barging in here any minute to demand it back), three boxes of napkins on your bedside table (you did not know there were that many napkins in your apartment) and four blankets on your bed in case you start shivering again (you do not own four blankets).
You get up to go to the bathroom and end up being carried instead. Being left alone is something you have to literally beg for, because you might, in their words, "pass out". The door remains unlocked as a compromise.
It's sometime around 12 am that you switch off the lights, still feverish and so tired of the sickness already. Mostly you're tired of the babying. But you don't say anything about the fact that both Steve and Bucky remain in your room, sitting on the goddamn floor even though you've told them several times that you have a desk chair and a bean bag. Actually, they have their own beds right on the other side of the hallway. Stupid boys.
They fall asleep pretty quickly, if judging by their snores. Both of them will deny their obnoxious sounds in the morning when you tell them. It makes you happy in one way, because Bucky usually has trouble not staying awake for hours on end grumbling over everything under the sun. Steve is sometimes found in the kitchen at 3 am when you go up for a glass of water, staring blankly out of the window as if he has the entire world resting on his shoulders. On the other hand, you're now the only one awake with your misery and overthinking.
Steve and Bucky definitely cares about you. For you. That much is clear from the past few hours. But to which extent? Is this what they would do for any of their friends? You would like to think so. It feels self-centered to not believe that. But they have been so adamant on making sure you're safe and alright and comfortable today—telling funny stories to distract you and getting caught up in those meaningless, petty fights they know you enjoy so much. Stroking your cheek, calling you sweet names and constantly making you drink water. College boys don't act that way towards their friends, or anyone at all really. You don't know why they are like this.
At the same time, the sweet things have become almost too much. You didn't think it was possible. But it frustrates you that this has become a whole savior-situation for them. Maybe you should want that now. Many girls do—not having to lift a finger while two men come at your every beck and call, and you usually do too. But the thing is that they are not listening to you. They are deciding things for themselves about you.
There comes a point where being helpful and taking care of someone transcends into being condescending. You absolutely can dry away water from your chin yourself. You can go to the fucking bathroom by yourself too, and would actually prefer it that way if you had a say in it.
Maybe you're just sick to the point of extreme irritability. You're probably overreacting to their sweetness because of everything happening in your life right now—this comes at the worst possible time with your final exam for the year in just three days. The final grades for most of your classes come anytime now as well, and you're not sure you did so well in all of them. You haven't even gotten a job for the summer either because no one wants to hire you. It's all pretty shit at the moment.
Barely anything is in your control right now. Not even your own health and how you choose to deal with it, because there are two men hovering over you every second since they came home. This is the first breather you've gotten in way too many hours. You're actually surprised they fell asleep before making sure that you did too, but happy that they did.
Another hour passes before you give up. It's too hot in here, despite cracking the window open half an hour ago, and the fan doesn't do you any wonders. The air is too thick from the small space being occupied by two giants and a sick girl for hours on end, and your bed is too soft.
You silence your coughs as you sneak out of your room out onto the living room couch. It's colder out here. Quiet.
You fall asleep within two minutes.
Tumblr media
"Sweetheart, wake up."
"C'mon, Y/n."
"Let her sleep, you assholes."
"She's burning up, for fuck's sake! We gotta do something!"
"Throw cold water on her."
"What the fuck, Sam?"
You groan, stirring awake while your eyes reluctantly flutter open. It feels like they have been glued shut. The fever-aches hit you instantly, distracting you from the mumbled voices right beside you as they try to gain contact.
"She's alive, at least," Sam says right before leaving the room. You barely notice.
"Y/n, hey, can you hear us?" Bucky asks, on his knees in front of the couch.
"Yes," you croak out, rubbing your eye while squinting. It's still early judging by the dimmed morning light coming into the apartment. "Wha—“
"Why did you leave? You have a 103 degree fever, baby. We have to cool you down."
You simply shake your head, letting out a distant hum while sinking down into the pillow once more, letting your eyelids close.
"C'mon. Sit up," Steve tells you, sneaking his hands around your back to push you upwards before you even have a chance to react to his words.
There's too many sounds around you, too many voices and hands prying your body around. You want quiet, like how it was when you went out here a few hours ago. What you sought after from the beginning.
"I want to be alone."
"Well, we're not going to fucking leave you alone right now, Y/n," Bucky says, stress practically seeping out of his pores.
Steve returns from the kitchen. You didn't notice him leaving. He reaches a cold, wet rag out to Bucky who immediately presses it to your burning forehead.
"I can do that myself."
"Nonsense. Just rest," Steve tells you.
"I'm serious. Guys, it's fin—"
"Can you get me the pills on her nightstand?"
He turns his head over his shoulder, nodding for Natasha who disappears into your room without so much as a blink to confirm. Your frustration grows with each second—Steve just entirely ignored you to speak over your words. He doesn't usually do that.
Red hair comes into view again, at least as much as you can see of her from underneath the rag covering half of your eyesight. She tosses the bottle, and you're lucid enough to try and catch it. Bucky grabs it instead.
But when he pours out a pill and begins prodding at your lips you push him away. It's  too much.
"Bucky, stop!"
This is the thing with the two of them—you love being cared for like they watch over you, but right now it just feels demeaning. As if they believe you can't do anything by yourself, as if you will fall and break your bones each time you stand or confront someone who has done you wrong without bodyguards crowding your space. Their intentions are good, so good, but right now it feels like unnecessary babying.  You are a grown woman who just happens to have very bad luck, but that doesn't mean you can't handle yourself at all.
As your yelling echoes through the now quiet room, their expressions fall, even though they did not look too chipper to begin with. Bucky inches back just slightly. Your tone was harsh enough to know that something is wrong.
"I get that the two of you are trying to help me right now, but I can lift my own fucking fingers!" Your face is hidden beneath your hands, head tilted back with a groan.
You can almost feel how their faces change right in front of you, postures tense up. It's not what you wanted—that is their reaction when being confronted, and this is not a scolding. At least you didn't intend it to be from the beginning.
"I just want to sleep right now, okay? I'm not going to die." Your voice softens into a whisper, a large contrast from the previous yelling that has the room quiet as a mouse.
Another three seconds of silence pass after your statement. Now they won't say anything? Steve runs a hand over his mouth, looking away from your gaze. Nervous.
"Uh...okay." He nods, despite looking like he doesn't want to agree. "Just—just take the Tylenol. If it gets worse you'll tell us, right?"
You don't really answer in the way he wants you to, which is not at all. You can tell by the way he purses his lips. Bucky just looks scarily neutral, as if he's schooling his face with every ounce of willpower in his body.
"Alright, boys. Scatter," Natasha says, waving her hands towards their rooms like she's directing an airplane. You guess that's about the organization you need to coordinate the three of them.
Before you can catch Steve and Bucky's conflicted glances, and Sam's slightly shocked expression, you roll around to face the back of the couch. As peace falls over the room, so does sleep once again.
Steve and Bucky take turns tiptoeing into the living room to watch over you each hour.
Tumblr media
Natasha sits in the living room chair reading from her iPad when you wake up. It's dark outside—you've been asleep the entire day. She has a cup of tea and half a cookie left on her plate sitting on the table, and does not even stir when you speak up from out of nowhere. Damn her spy skills.
"What time is it?" you croak out, so unbelievably hoarse that you can't even believe words are coming out of your mouth. You kind of regret speaking at all.
"7:32," she tells you while pushing a glass of water your way. The glass is devoured immediately.
While drying away the stray drops of water from your skin, you put the back of your hand against your forehead to realize your fever has gone down significantly. Not gone entirely, you think, but so much better. The only thing worse is the lack of anyone else in this room besides you and Nat.
"Where is everyone?" you ask her, pushing yourself up slightly until you sit up in the couch.
Natasha must instantly clock your hesitant tone, the slight trace of regret in your voice that manages to seep out through your cold-affected throat. She turns your way, leaning forward slightly.
"Hiding in their rooms."
Your face soon gets buried in your hands, leaning back with a groan from your lips.
"I was too harsh on them, wasn't I?" you say suddenly, letting her decipher your muffled words. "Fuck, I upset them. I was too mean."
"No, no. Hey, no," Natasha interjects, clasping her hand around your wrist to reveal your face again. "Babe, you are allowed to have boundaries, and they're not allowed to be bitchy about that."
"But I—they were just trying to help and I went off on them," you whine. "They haven't even talked to me since this morning. I feel like shit about that, Nat."
"They didn't talk to you 'cause you've been fucking asleep, that's why," she says. "And just because their intentions are good doesn't mean they have the right to be around you."
Natasha raises her perfect eyebrow, glancing over her shoulder towards the empty apartment behind her. Her words hit you like a fucking truck no matter how cliche that sounds, regardless of the fact that you have never taken any sort of advice of this sort to heart before. They never used to apply to you earlier.
"You decide that. And I'm sorry that their egos were bruised, but they need to learn how to respect people's wishes even when they believe they are doing the right thing by disregarding them," she tells you.
"Yeah," you breathe out. "Yeah, you're right."
"Sure as fuck I am," Natasha agrees. "Now go tell them that."
"I don't want to," you whine.
"But you have to. They're not gonna learn if you ignore them. And I know they're dying to check up on you."
"They haven't been in here?" you ask, trying to sound more curious than disappointed. Why are you disappointed? You were the one who wanted space.
"I banished them after they kept checking your temperature as you slept seven times within an hour."
Your eyebrows shoot to the roof. Actually, that makes you annoyed. It's cute, but you were sleeping! You had just yelled at them for invading your space and privacy! Goddamn men who worry too fucking much!
She smirks as you struggle your way up from the couch, angrily making your way towards the end of the hallway to your best ability in this state. The knocks on their doors are loud. Both doors open almost at the same time.
"Get in Rogers' goddamn room, Barnes," you mutter, before shouldering your way past the blonde wall of muscle looking entirely too confused for your liking. He's way too cute like that, and you're supposed to be angry.
The two men follow you like obedient puppies, sitting down on Steve's bed when you gesture towards it. You sway slightly after closing the door, resulting in someone shooting up from their position, but quickly falls back when you shoot the brown-haired guy a glare.
For what must be at least five seconds, you stare at the two young men now sitting on Steve's bed, staring up at you nervously as if you are the principal and they've been called into the office for disobedience. It's kind of fun, but you tire quickly of the staring contest, and instead run the back of your hand across your forehead with a sigh.
"I do just fine by myself," you say all of a sudden. No warning, no explanation. "And yes, it's really sweet that you two want to help, but you've completely ignored me and what I want since I got sick. That's not okay."
What started off strong and confident has now turned into looking anywhere but their eyes as you speak. Why are they making you nervous?
"I have boundaries when I'm sick too, you know? And it doesn't exactly feel like you actually care about me when you just push and prod at me like I'm some doll instead of a person who told you repeatedly that I didn't want your help."
You can't really see their reactions, since you're...not looking at them. Instead you have your arms engulfing themselves, fingers picking on your skin and the hem of your shirt nervously. You're not used to confrontation. Almost no training in scolding people at all. Especially not when it comes to people you care about so deeply. But it has to be done, according to Natasha. And maybe you know that she's right.
"And I'm mad at you. But I know that your intentions are good, and this doesn't have to be a big thing...but I just wanted you to know how I felt."
Too many seconds of silence passes after your little speech is done. The only sound in the room is your collective breathing. You're still looking down to the floor, watching your toes wiggle as a distraction.
"You can speak now, if you want to," you add timidly after what must have been half a minute.
The sound of Bucky letting out a long pent up breath almost makes you laugh, but you school your expression as you finally look him in the eyes. He almost burst watching you so fidgety, refusing to look at either of them.
"I'm sorry, babe," Bucky says, volume nearing on a whisper. He didn't mean to say that last word. "I just—I get kind of panicky when people get sick. You know, Steve—"
"I know about Steve's sickness, Buck," you tell him.
"Yeah, but...sometimes when he was like this it would be a life or death situation. Y/n, I've been the one to call 911 several times when I didn't think Steve would make it."
"I didn't know that," you say. "That it was that bad."
"He would start off exactly like you." Bucky pauses for too many seconds, scrunching his nose before shaking his head. "This fucking cough that would never disappear, and then the high fever. But I guess you have a better set of lungs and heart than he did back then."
"Oh, I—I don't know..."
"You're not about to go into heart failure because of a stupid cold," he says, but you think it's more of a reminder for himself. Steve looks at him funnily, as if he's almost sad by Bucky's words. Maybe he didn't know how much his friend saw during their childhood.
"We're sorry we ignored you, Y/n," Steve speaks up. "Now after, I...I can see that we were too overbearing. And you're right, that's not okay. But I don't want you to think we don't view you as a person. That's not true."
His blue eyes do that soft, concerned thing only Steve can pull off. It kind of pisses you off. You're supposed to be mad, but it's hard. Okay, you actually forgave them before you even entered the room, but they don't know that yet.
"Well, it kind of felt like you didn't," you mutter, looking away.
"I know. You don't deserve that," he answers. "I'm really sorry, sweetheart. I promise I'll do better."
You can't help but let the tiniest of smiles grace your lips. They barely notice it, you think.
"Okay. I guess I accept your apologies. But, this doesn't mean that I don't want to be helped at all—it just means that it will happen on my own terms. No more extreme coddling and babying."
Bucky gives you an amused smirk, rubbing his chin with his fingers. God, he would fit in perfectly in a douchy frat house. Idiot.
"You're kinda cute when you're yelling at us, you know?" he tells you. You think both you and Steve share the exact same reaction—Bucky gets a slap to the back of his head from the latter while you just scowl at him.
"You're such a jerk. That is not what you should take with you from this situation," you seethe, even though heat is traveling to your cheeks in an almost unhealthy pace. Goddamn him and his charm. You blame it on the fever.
"Punk," Steve mutters, shaking his head in disapproval while Bucky just ducks away from any further violence. There's still that smug grin on his face though.
"Bucky is a lot more likeable when he's shy and quiet, don't you think?" You turn to Steve, ignoring the brown-haired man now pouting at you. You've already forgotten why you're in this room in the first place. And damn it, you're starting to feel that you're not exactly top condition right now, and you know you have to sit down soon.
"Uh-huh. Is a lot easier to keep in line, at least."
"Hey! I'm right fucking here, you know? Don't talk shit about—"
Bucky doesn't get to finish his sentence before your seemingly healthier state turns critical in just a few seconds. The standing up for too long with a fever and no source of energy for two whole days finally takes it toll, and the clear focus you had on your boys turns into a big blur. A thud sounds through the room as your side crashes into Steve's drawer, balance lost completely before you could even notice you were dizzy in the first place. Within a second you're on the floor with a throbbing pain in the back of your head.
"Ow."
"Fuck," Bucky breathes out as he gets to his feet with Steve right on his heel, crossing the few feet's distance between you. "I know you just said we shouldn't coddle you...but—"
"It's fine. I'll give you a pass," you manage to get out while rubbing the back of your head, a small chuckle escaping your lips.
Strong hands pull you up to your feet, embracing your unsteady body so your head rests against Bucky's chiseled chest. Steve has his palm on your back, searching for any kind of contact.
"What happened? Are you okay?" he asks while Bucky leads you to the bed, forcing you to lie down.
"I don't think it was such a good idea to stand for that long," you say with a tired smile.
"Well, I tried to tell—" Bucky stops himself in the middle of the sentence, catching himself doing exactly what he promised he wouldn't. You grin at him, patting his thigh the best you can from your position.
"Good boy. Already learning."
The man blushes like a grown man has not done ever. You don't notice though, of course you don't, and his momentary weakness remains harmless. Steve doesn't point it out, because he's too engrossed by looking at the now sore spot at the back of your head. But you never notice, and Steve almost begins to think you're avoiding the signs on purpose. You should have noticed by now. Sam and Natasha certainly have—they can't give either of them a break when it comes to teasing about you.
"Fuck, this is the last thing I needed," you groan, putting your hands up to cover your face while leaning back into what now feels like Steve's thighs. When did he move you?
"Know it sucks, bad timing and all that, but maybe a sign to take it easier?" Bucky says, though he has to clear his throat first to rid it of the thickness he gained from your little comment earlier.
"What d'ya mean?" you mumble, eyes closed.
Maybe you were overreacting earlier. Now, with their hands in your hair and stroking your legs soothingly, you feel great. As if they really do care about you. But it's different now, you guess.
"Sweetheart, you've been stressing yourself to death this past month. You have this irrational fear, which is completely wrong, that you will fail all of your classes when you absolutely are not going to," Steve tells you.
"Maybe..." you mutter.
"Yeah, lay it down, will you? 'M only taking it easy on you with the scolding now 'cause you're sick, but it's actually worrying. Don't know why you think so low of yourself when it comes to school. You've done great the entire time."
"I can't help it," you whisper. "But I really don't want to study anymore. I'm tired."
Steve chuckles at you, shaking his head. "You don't have to. If you're good to do the test in two days—and I really mean if—you're already perfectly prepared. Been studying for a month. God knows I ain't ever studied that long for an exam."
"I know..."
"But even without me and Steve...helping, I, uh—are you gonna be fine 'till then?" Bucky asks, a new concerned frown in between his eyebrows appearing.
"You are allowed to help me, Buck. I never said that you couldn't," you tell him. Your eyes are closed, deep breaths being taken to rid yourself of the nausea. Despite this, you notice his restlessness over the thought.
"Yeah. I guess. Just don't want you...don't want you to be sick anymore," he mutters under his breath, as if though he wishes you could not really hear it.
This is the Bucky you usually see. The one who's a little shy and has trouble expressing his feelings, except if it's anger. Then he has all the willpower in the world to act on it. The guy who cares very deeply about his friends and becomes closed off when he can't help them.
"Not super excited about this either, Barnes," you whisper, arm thrown over your face to shield you from the rest of the world.
"We're on last name basis now, huh?" Steve says. You can hear the smirk in his voice.
"Uh-huh." You nod to your best ability. "You deserve that."
"She's just practicing her future last name, Stevie," Bucky speaks up, wearing a grin that falls just as quickly as it appeared. A dreaded, wide-eyed expression dawns upon his face as he stares at the two of you. The realization is painful.
"What? What did you just say?" You lift your head up from Steve's lap, staring at Bucky who's now beet red.
"Buck..."
"Oh, shit."

“You’re not serious.”
You shrugged, looking over yourself in the mirror. Natasha sat cross-legged on her bed, disappointment visible on her pouting face. You turned to face her, wearing your baggiest pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. Your hair was up in a very messy bun, and you were still debating on putting the hood on to cover it up.
“I am not interested in becoming just another notch on Bucky Barnes’ bedpost. If this doesn’t get the point across, I don’t know what will.”
Natasha just blinked, and you sighed as you walked over to sit on her bed.
“Hey.”
You looked back to her, meeting her eyes, seeing the soft smile on her face.
“I’ve never seen him act the way he does around you.”
Just that day, Bucky had appeared while you and Natasha were eating lunch on the quad. He’d sat beside her, but all of his focus had been on you. Teasing you, making both you and Natasha laugh, and reminding you of the date you swore wasn’t a date that night. You shook your head.
“You’ve known him for like a month.” “Long enough to see how he acts. He puts on just enough charm to melt the girls, gets what he wants, and that’s it. Not that he’s selfish or a dick or anything. The girls clearly enjoy it so—“ “So he’s a manwhore.” “Hey.”
Nat sat up.
“We do not slut shame in this house.”
You nodded and she reached to pat your hand.
“Just make it clear to him that you’re not going to have sex with him. I think he’s a good enough guy to respect that. If nothing else, you can be friends.” “Guys and girls cannot be just friends, Nat.” “What about Bruce? He and I are friends.” “You kissed in junior high.” “And that’s how we decided to just be friends.”
She stopped, then nodded.
“I see what you’re saying.”
You laughed, glancing at the clock beside your bed. Before you could say anything, there was a knock at the door. You got up and answered it, feeling your whole body heat when Bucky gave you a slow once-over. He nodded, smiling as he met your eyes.
“I’m so glad you didn’t dress up for me, Pidge.”
You had a flash where you felt a little bad, but before you could say anything, Bucky motioned with his head, holding the door open.
“Let’s go. I’ll have her back at a decent hour, Nat.” “Too bad.”
Bucky chuckled at Natasha’s low purr. He held out his hand and almost without thinking, you put your hand in his. Once the door had closed behind you, Bucky kept hold of your hand as the two of you started down the stairs.
“This isn’t a date.” “Whatever you say, pigeon.”
You tried to pull your hand back, but he only adjusted his grip. He glanced at you, a devastating smile on his face.
“Friends hold hands sometimes.” “Oh, we’re friends now?”
Bucky nodded as he held the door open for you. The two of you walked out of the dorm and into the parking lot.
“You came to see me fight. Bet on me and won. We partied, and I poured you into bed when you went a little hard in the paint.”
You moved your free hand to smack your forehead and Bucky chuckled.
“You were a cute drunk, Pidge.” “I don’t usually drink that much and I don’t know why I did the other night.” “Hey, you don’t have to justify anything to me.”
He let go of your hand to hold the door open for you, and you stayed beside the door as he jogged down the steps to a motorcycle.
“Come on, Pidge. It’s too far to walk.” “I’m not riding on that.” “Yes, you are. I’ve got you a helmet and everything.”
You shook your head, eyes wide as you stared at the bike. Bucky sighed as he climbed off the bike, carrying a helmet as he jogged back to you.
“Come on. I don’t have a car. It’s the bike or nothing.” “I’m going to pick nothing. See you later.”
You turned to leave, but he grabbed onto your wrist, holding steady.
“Breathe, pigeon. Your heart is racing. Are you scared?” “No!”
You answered way too quickly, and the smile on Bucky’s face was anything but mocking, which you were expecting.
“Pidge, hey. Look at me.”
You did, and his gentle smile helped you take a deep breath.
“I’m not going to let anything happen to you.” “You don’t know that for sure.” “I’m going to do my damnedest. You’re safe with me, pigeon.”
You swallowed, looking towards the bike.
“I’ve never ridden one before.” "Nothing to it. You just hold onto me and I’ll get us where we need to go.”
You tore your eyes from the bike to meet his, and you closed your eyes as he slid the helmet on your head, buckling it under your chin. He held your hand as the two of you walked to the bike, and once he straddled it, he walked you through climbing on. You wrapped your arms around his chest like he told you to do, and when he started up the bike, you squealed and slid closer to him. He laughed, lifting a hand to touch your wrists, sliding his finger between your wrists and his chest, loosening your death grip.
“Just breathe.”
He had to yell to be heard over the bike, and since your heart was in your throat, you gave his torso a squeeze in response. You felt rather than heard him chuckle, and you tightened your hold as the bike started moving. You kept your eyes closed, resting your cheek against Bucky’s leather jacket. At one point, he moved a hand to give your knee a gentle squeeze, and you finally opened your eyes when the bike came to a stop.
Neither you or Bucky moved, but that was mainly because you couldn’t get your arms to unlock from around him. He moved to take his helmet off, shaking out his hair, then patting your hands, which were locked over his heart.
“It’s okay, Pidge. You can let go.”
You swallowed, your brain telling your arms to relax, but your arms weren’t listening.
“Or you can keep holding onto me. I really don’t mind.”
You swallowed again, hands shaking as you finally pulled them apart. Bucky took hold of one, rubbing it gently, lacing his fingers through yours and maneuvering your wrist around. He did the same with your other hand, climbing off the bike and turning to face you. He gave a quiet laugh as he unfastened your helmet, murmuring softly at your quiet gasp when the tightness of the helmet disappeared from your temples. You stared up at him and he smiled, cupping your face in his hands.
“Just breathe.”
You did, staring into his pale blue eyes. He held your gaze with one side of his lips turned up in a smirk and you shook your head to break the trance. You climbed off the bike, stumbling into his waiting arms.
“Easy, Pidge. Your equilibrium might be off for a bit.” “I’m … I’m fine.” “Just take a second.”
You did, since your heart was still racing, and your head was spinning a bit. Bucky lifted a hand to cup the back of your head, holding you close, and you decided to allow it, just for a second.
“You’ll love this place. You’re not lactose intolerant, are you?”
You shook your head, stepping back from his embrace. He reached to take your hand, leading you into the restaurant. The lighting inside was dim, red checkered tablecloths on all of the tables. A few people called out hello as Bucky waved, pointing and smiling as he led you to a booth near a window. You slid into the booth, touching the holder where salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and Parmesan cheese sat. Bucky laid a menu in front of you, nodding at it when you looked at him.
“You can order something if you want, or you can trust me.” “I don’t even know you.”
He grinned.
“That’s why we’re here, right?” “It’s not a date.” “Did I say it was?”
You raised an eyebrow, the smile never fading from his face.
“I just said dinner. You’re the one assuming.” “I am not!”
He chuckled, leaning back and spreading his arms over the back of his side of the booth. You rolled your eyes before looking down at the menu.
“The Alfredo is fucking divine. The lasagna will make you want to kiss the chef, and Antonia's friendly enough to let you.”
You bit your lip to stop the smile you wanted to give, studying the menu as you spoke.
“What do you get?”
“You gonna trust me, Pidge?”
You raised an eyebrow as you lifted your eyes to his. He grinned again as he bounced his eyebrows, and you couldn’t help but smile as you rolled your eyes. You closed the menu, pushing it towards him.
“Alright, Barnes. I’m all in.”
“Don’t tease me with poker terms, Pidge. You’ll make me declare my love for you right here and now.”
You swallowed the terror that suddenly appeared at the back of your throat, wishing you had a glass of water. As if he could read your mind, a waiter appeared at the table with two glasses of water and a basket of bread.
“Signore Barnes! Molto bene, good to see you! Antonia was wondering when we would see you again. And who is this bellissima?”
You widened your eyes when Bucky said your actual name to the waiter. He winked at you as he continued to talk.
“She’s new here, so we’ve got to treat her right, si?” “Oh, certamente! Let me go talk to chef and we will take care of you!”
The waiter left in a hurry, and you waited for Bucky to turn his eyes to you.
“So you do know my name.” “And that will be the only time you hear me use it, pigeon.”
You pursed your lips.
“Am I annoying to you? Is that why you call me pigeon?”
Bucky smiled.
“No, that’s not why. I’ll tell you one day, if you’re lucky.”
You rolled your eyes, but smiled. Bucky laced his hands together, leaning forward and resting his elbows on the table.
“So, pigeon. Tell me more about you.” "No.” “If you want me to just sit here and look at you, I can.” “Oh my god, do any of these lines ever work for you?” “To tell you the truth, I don’t usually need a line.”
You reached for your glass of water.
“Girls just fall at your feet?” “Honestly? Yes.”
You didn’t spit out the sip you’d just taken, which was surprising to you. You turned wide eyes to him and Bucky shrugged his shoulders.
“I’m not trying to be obnoxious, but I know how I look, Pidge. I put a lot of work into it. Girls happen to appreciate it and I appreciate them. That sometimes falls into a category we can both find mutually beneficial.”
You slowly nodded, taking another sip of your drink in the short silence.
“So you sleep around?” “In a manner of speaking, yes.”
You laced your fingers together and leaned forward, copying his positioning.
“I’m not going to sleep with you.” “Never say never, pigeon.”
You shook your head.
“How do you feel about girls who sleep around?”
Bucky shrugged his shoulders.
“Long as everybody’s on board, who cares? If it makes you happy and it’s not hurting anyone, you do you.”
You pursed your lips and Bucky leaned forward, a smile on his mouth.
“I’m no sexist, Pidge. Nice try on attempting to catch me, though.”
You tried to stifle the smile, but you couldn’t help it when Bucky chuckled.
“As you’ve said a few times now, you don’t know me. But, I don’t know you either.”
Bucky glanced over at the bread basket before looking back to you.
“I was raised by a good man and a good woman who let me think for myself, but steered me in the right directions. I’m not so full of myself that I think I’m God’s gift to women, fucking whoever I can while a woman doing the same thing is a slut. What’s good for the goose and all that. If you want to sleep around and you enjoy it, go for it.”
He smiled as he leaned closer to you, giving you a wink.
“And let me go ahead and volunteer for that.”
You groaned as you leaned back, and Bucky laughed from across the table. You shook your head as you leaned forward again.
“I am not sleeping with you.” “Now, or ever?” “Ever.”
Bucky tilted his head to the side.
“Aw, come on, Pidge. Don’t be like that.”
You rolled your eyes until he reached across the table, laying his hand on your wrist. He opened his mouth, closing it and pulling his hand back as the waiter appeared back at the table with two plates in his hand.
“Chef insisted. And you better make sure to share with bellissima, capice?”
Bucky nodded as he smiled at the waiter. The man set a plate before Bucky and another before you, then clasped his hands together.
“Buon appetito.”
You looked at Bucky as the waiter walked away, and he picked up a fork, stabbing at the slab of lasagna on his plate.
“Oh my god, Pidge. You’ve got to taste this.”
You blinked at the sudden rush of heat in your belly, shaking your head as you picked up your own fork. You studied the pasta before you, twirling some around your fork and sliding it into your mouth.
“Oh my God.” “Right?”
You gave a happy moan as you twirled more pasta, closing your eyes as you chewed. You opened your eyes to see Bucky staring at you, empty fork poised above his plate.
“What?”
He shook his head, clearing his throat.
“Noth—nothing. Here.”
He cut a bit of lasagna onto his fork, holding a hand under it as he leaned across the table. You looked at the fork, then at him, leaning forward while keeping your eyes locked on his and eating the bite he was offering. You watched his jaw go slack, giving a soft moan as you chewed.
“This food is fantastic.”
Bucky slowly nodded.
“Yeah, the … the food is … it’s good.”
You bit your tongue to keep from laughing out loud. You twirled some more pasta, eating as you felt Bucky’s eyes on you. After a moment, you twirled some pasta onto your fork and held it out.
“Want some?”
Bucky swallowed.
“More than you could imagine.”
You gave a soft laugh at that, but it trailed off as he leaned over, taking the bite from your fork and chewing slowly.
“Damn good, Pidge.”
You nodded, flustered as you looked back down at your plate. The two of you ate in silence, and you didn’t put up much of a fight when Bucky insisted on paying. Once you were outside, Bucky slid his hand into yours, steering you away from his motorcycle, towards the sidewalk. After a moment of silence, you spoke.
“I feel bad that you paid for everything on this non-date.” "Date or not, if I ask a woman to do something with me, I pay.” “Does that include—“ “No, Pidge, I do not pay for sex.”
You gave a quiet laugh as he smiled.
“Listen.”
You turned your head towards him, an expectant look on your face. Bucky stopped walking, moving in front of you, lifting the hand he was holding to his chest. With his other hand, he reached to slip a strand of hair that had fallen out of your bun behind your ear.
“You’ve got to feel something here. I can’t be the only one, right?”
You smiled, reaching up to push a piece of hair back behind his ear, just like he’d done for you.
“You feel something here because I haven’t fallen at your feet. Because I am definitely not going to bed with you. You’re not used to a challenge, and that’s why you think you’re feeling something here.”
He stared into your eyes as he slowly nodded.
“So it’s definitely a no, then?” “Definitely.”
Bucky nodded again, understanding filling his blue eyes as he moved your hands away from his chest, still keeping hold of your hand.
“I’m not one of those guys who’ll just keep hounding you ‘til I get you under me, Pidge. No means no, right?” “Right.” “Then … we’ll be friends?”
You cocked your head to the side as you studied him, and he smiled again.
“I mean, with Nat and Sam the way they are, we’re bound to be hanging out all the time. Might as well be friends since you’ve broken my heart.”
You smacked his chest and he laughed.
“I did not break your heart. Blue balls do not equal a broken heart.”
Bucky laughed again, letting go of your hand and throwing his arm around your shoulders.
“Oh, Pidge. This is the start of a beautiful friendship. I just know it.”
