New Year, New Prompts!

I haven't taken fic prompts for an age, so I felt I would now while I wait for university to start up again! Pick any combination of a character, prompt and AU and send it my way. I'll write whatever I come up with!

He wasn't by any means a perfect man and he knew this. If only you knew how many times he's considered himself a monster and unworthy of you...oh how much he wonders why you ever chose him in the first place. Every year around this time you were working overtime to spread the holiday cheer while he sat around and did nothing to help. Every time he tried, he felt so weird and out of place. It was like watching a stranger command his body. Baking cookies? Decorating a tree? These were things he didn't think capable of himself. This morning however, he was determined to at least try and take over so you could relax for once. He wanted so badly to make this a special Christmas eve for you. It was the moment he realized he felt a bit overwhelmed and like he had no control over a simple situation that made him feel like a failure. How could he burn everything he tried to bake for you at once? How is it possible the water is boiling over on the stove? Why did he forget to close the fridge door right away and now some of the shit he bought was ruined? Why is the tree poorly decorated and where are the lights? Did he really leave the fucking lights in the storage shed!? Why are your presents he delivered delayed??? The stores are closed and they might not be delivered until AFTER Christmas, are you serious right now???? He was completely defeated when you got out of bed to see what the commotion was. "Everything is ruined." He spoke quietly as he watched you survey the area. You sigh and smile gently at him as you approach to turn off the oven and help tidy up the mess. He silently apologizes again once everything is taken care of. "Oh Kai, why are you doing all of this love?" You ask him when the two of you finally sit on the couch for a minute of peace together. "I simply wanted it to be a special day for you. I ended up making it worse and now look at the mess on your hands due to my negligence. I can take things apart and rearrange them to my liking but I candle handle baking a simple tray of sugar cookies for you. I've failed you...why are you smiling as though everything is well?" You reach up to gently caress his covered cheek before slipping the mask down and planting a soft kiss on his lips. You pull away and make note of the pink blush adorning his cheeks. "Because I'm with you of course. Regardless of the situation, it's being together that makes this time of the year so special. Now please cheer up. We've got some hours to turn this thing around, trust me." You reassure him and he smiles softly. "Sure thing."
