God I'm a sucker for characters who are so utterly loyal to someone that they're completely unhinged. Characters who have no moral compass except their overwhelming devotion to whoever they've chosen to listen to. That's the good shit

#favorite tropes (3/∞): Honorific of Choice

"Characters hating each other so much they accidentally get married" is a great trope we need more of

Bonus points if they still can't stand each other, and have no explanation for why they've vowed to be life partners

Things I see in a lot of dinluke fics that I go feral for love every time:

Din giving Luke a Keldabe kiss and Luke not getting the significance. Bonus points if Luke mentions that he likes it when Din presses his forehead to his and having no idea (until later) that he just told Din he likes kissing him

A dinluke spar that ends with Luke sitting on top of Din

Literally everyone knowing that Din and Luke are in love before they do

Every mandalorian who meets Luke going “damn he’s the full package. he can fight, he’s good looking, AND he’s good with kids”

Luke being an Absolute Unit in combat

Luke having lightning scars from Palpatine

Din disliking Han (if Boba is in the fic, him also hating Han, but loving Luke and Leia)

Din’s realization that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and Senator Leia Organa are siblings

Grogu seeing his buir and master as his dads before they’re actually together

Din being soft when he sees Luke and Grogu together

I love a freeze response. I love a character who doesn't fight, or flee, or even fawn: someone whose whole body locks up and goes still, unable to save themselves or try to do anything at all, until it's too late.

I especially love when the story involves them fighting or finding their way out later on.

older sibling characters that have been dealt with the shittiest of cards in life, who struggle to keep their family afloat, who have witnessed grief and tragedy at a young age that will later force them to develop a hard exterior in order to protect themselves from the cruelties of the world. older sibling characters with a chip on their shoulder. older sibling characters who are overprotective of their younger siblings because they fear the world will be even crueler to those they love.

older sibling characters with anger issues and are meanspirited because they refuse to let the narrative soften them after all the shit they went through.

yeah yeah dying for each other great awesome but here me out. character who is super super self destructive and self sacrificing who would throw themself in front of danger for anyone if they asked, who's greatest act of love isn't to die for the other. it's to live. even if it's hard, even if they don't want to, even if they're terrified of what happens next. they live, and they trust the other to be able to handle danger, even if they don't want to keep going. their greatest act of love isn't to die protecting them but instead to stay by their side. romanticize THAT. I fucking live for that shit. character who's extreme self sacrificialness is portrayed as a flaw and them unlearning that and learning that it's okay to survive. give me more of that!!!

this can be romantic, platonic, familial, queer platonic, "I don't know what these fuckers have going on but they mean the world to each other", anything. no matter what the relationships like I am guaranteed to adore it.

sorry for finding it hot when a cold and detached character gets put through the wringer and loses more and more of their emotional shields until they're an unhinged, seething mess ready to tear something down with their bare hands and unable to control their feelings. I'm right though

I don't care how many times it's been done and it could just be the trauma, but I love the trope of a good person who's done their best their whole life to do what they're supposed to and follow the rules and has never hurt anyone, but is so wronged and traumatized by the people and society around them who, once again, they've done nothing to, that they just snap and go completely unhinged.
