A micro solo(journalling)ttrpg about being a patch of moss in a bog, and dealing with the inevitability marching nature of time, and accepting your future state of peat. Or something like that, anyway.
so, you're a small patch of moss in a big bog... on itch.io now!

Elliott
Develops an entire children’s library in the nursery, might try to name your kid after a character from a novel he likes
Starts drafting children’s books with your kid as the main character; incredibly proud if your kid wants his stories read at bedtime
Teaches them to read at the speed of light, that kid’s AR levels are through the roof, might self-assign summer reading once they’re in school
That kid has incredible English and writing grades, Elliot probably gets tricked into editing papers when he gets frustrated with revision and might cause a call home about potential plagiarism (why is this 2nd grader using words like “robust” and “forlorn?”)
#1 hair braider, would love a little girl to doll up and practice different hairstyles, very willing to be dolled up for tea parties
Extremely sentimental and marks every single milestone, has too many photo albums, celebrates every graduation, cried uncontrollably when your kid took their first steps
Is definitely the type of parent to leave handwritten notes in you kid’s lunchbox
Wants a large family because he spent so much time isolated and pretty lonely before you moved to the valley, doesn’t pressure you but drops a lot of hints that he wants more than 1 kid
Takes your kids to the beach, will play mermaids, will ask you to play mermaids with them
Beach day ends in campfire stories around the pit outside his old cabin, maybe “camping” in the cabin
Likes to play piano for your kids, very proud if they developed musical interests
Literally over the moon if your kid is a bookworm/writer, will not stop recommending authors and series or asking to read their latest works- very supportive
Sam
Resident “cool dad”
Super lax but strict when is counts, big brother-ing heavily influences his parenting style in a “don’t tell ‘mom’” way, meaning he’ll let them get away with a lot as long as they don’t go telling on him
You’ll have to parent for 2 in the beginning cause Sam’s not used to so much responsibility but he’ll catch on pretty quickly, proud of himself when he starts taking the “dad” role seriously
Vincent was super excited and was one of the first people who got to hold the baby, brags to Jas that he’s got lots of responsibilities as a new uncle
Sam probably likes showing off on the half-pipe and teaches your kid how to skate, very proud if he you guys raise a sk8ter like him
Styles you kid’s hair if they ask, then you’ll have 2 super saiyans around the farm with hair full of rock-hard hair gel
When he got his kid's show gig he ran a lot of drafts through Vincent and your kid, both were super excited seeing him on TV, both bragged about it for weeks and acted like superstars
Loves taking your kid to concerts, both of them decorated headphones for your kid to wear, definitely headbangs to the mildest children's songs to make your kid laugh
Very proud band parent if your kid decides to do band (would prefer band to orchestra cause he can't yell in concert halls)
Jodi is a very proud Grandma and enjoys seeing Sam so mature and responsible; her baby has a baby now
Kent is a little slow on the uptake but is still loving towards his grandkid, will attend veteran's day at your kid's school
Sebastian
Least likely to want children but really loves your kid, finds parenting as a way of healing his childhood trauma (reparents himself)
Very supportive dad and never belittles your kid's achievements or decisions, doesn't want to stifle them like he'd been
Buys motorcycle helmets for the kid even if you say no to him taking them on rides, it's the thought that counts to him
Creates family campaigns for you and your friends to try and get you kid into ttrpgs, will buy/use your kid's toys as minifigs
Would love a lil computer nerd he talk shop with, probably teaches your kid to code once they're older
Obsesses over frog-themed baby clothes and toys, likes to play leapfrog with your kid but will stop after like 2 hops cause he has a bad back from poor posture at his computer (probably makes dad noises even though he's in his early 20s)
Would rock the baby by bouncing it on his leg while he has the coffee shakes coding late at night
Aunty Maru pt.2 cause she will love this kid so much, she'll make little science experiments to teach them about chemistry and robotics
Robin LOVES the kid because Sebastian's finally out of the basement and has a family to care for; basically all she's ever wanted
Demetrius cares for the kid, might chastise Sebastian's parenting but tries to be respectful about it, also makes science experiments about ecology and takes your kid on field study trips
This kid is definitely going to be valedictorian like this is the prime environment for a little nerd
Sebastian would probably let them get a tattoo as a graduation present, might even get a matching one

HELLO CAN I TELL YOU ABOUT ALL OF MY CURRENT TTRPG CHARACTERS?? COOL I’M DOING IT. ((this is art from the past yyyyyear that I have not posted, oof))
Ahem so, in order, in the four campaigns I am currently a part of (not counting ones on hiatus), we have:
1. Sagan Nethersall (5e) my cursed Half-Elf Bard, my precious, selfish asshat who was the first DnD character I ever created and who has been reused and recycled in campaigns for over 15 years now. He has descended into Avernus reluctantly alongside the rest of the party, who he is gradually growing to care about. He cannot sing without coughing up blood, and he just found out his lute is actually a unicorn-in-hiding. Sagan is awful. I love him.
2. Zasuba (4e) is a newly-formed Shardmind Psion who resembles a lanky salt lamp. Think of them like an ancient computer that has rebooted and is verrryy slowly downloading all of the information that was once known to them. All they know and understand is framed around “vibes”, from magic to emotions and everything in between, so Vibe Checks occur frequently. To the party’s simultaneous delight and regret, Zasuba remembers everything they teach them. They have a negative in Charisma. Zasuba is adorable. I love them.
3. Harahel (In Nomine) is a Mercurian Servitor of Trade (translation: a guardian angel who is good at talking to humans and whose specialty is m o n e y) who accidentally died in his vessel back in the early 90s and went into Trauma (basically a heavenly coma) for 30 years. Scarred and Discordant from the mishap, he’s now back on Earth helping out fellow angels with a seemingly simple job. Lucky for him the 90s are just wrapping around to being trendy again. Harahel is doing his best. I love him.
4. Sunshine (5e) is...oh boy. Sunshine is a race called a Graveborn that has been tweaked by the DM and myself to suit her homebrewed setting, and he is a Death Cleric who was raised in a city ruled by necromancers. People aren’t born there. He was. And when he was three years old his supposed mother, who died in childbirth, returned to his side as an obedient skeleton. In present day, Sunshine is a good-natured 15-year-old who has devoted himself to both the god of death (Ghen) and the necromancer who apprenticed him (Tarsus), who loves wearing pink, whose mother (Mama aka Skelemum) sticks protectively close to his side, and who has a rather unsavory but necessary habit of consuming raw flesh. Sunshine is an uncanny delight. I love him (and will be posting quite a bit more of him).
((ttrpg has been the only other Significant Thing other than Sahuldeem that has served as a creative outlet since 2020, so I’m well past due posting about my babies x’D))

[Book 6 Spoilers]
Night Raven Quest but make that TTRPG, baby (ft. The Overblots)
Riddle doesn't really understand the whole roleplaying thing at first but surprisingly enjoys the whole dungeon exploring and puzzle solving. He'd be a Human, pretty basic, I know. And a boy scout like him would be a Paladin with very strict moral code and is very stubborn about it. His stubbornness and temper sometimes causes conflict on the table but he'll work on that. Most of the time it's not even him starting the conflict, but rather some people (Azul) getting on his nerves and causing his anger to explode. This boy seriously needs to learn to cut himself and others some slack and have fun like a normal goddamn teenager.
Leona is the type of mf who makes a hard-boiled character with serious fucked up backstory but gave them a goofy ahh name no one can keep a straight face calling him that. His character would be a war veteran Dwarf Cleric named Angus Schmungus or something. And you know what? That's probably not even his real name. His character name, background, affiliation, etc. is between him and god (the DM). And if anyone asks him about his background and/or motivations he'd just give different outlandish story every time like that one ex-convict dude from Ratatouille, neither confirming or denying the credibility of the story.
Azul would try to cheat, so they'd need a dice tower. They'd also need to check his dice before every campaign (can't be too careful with this slimy mf). During his character creation process, he prioritize stats like Charisma, Intelligence, etc. He plays a Bard and a Tiefling for that extra +2 Charisma and +1 Intelligence. Though when I said a bard, he's more like a...conman of some sorts (though he wouldn't call himself that). He'd Mansplain, Manipulate and sometimes Manwhore (should the situation call for it) his way into and out of situations.
I genuinely feel like Jamil would be a Yuan-Ti Warlock. I know how obvious and on-the-nose this is but idk it just feels right. He'd make very calculated decisions even if Lady Luck isn't on his side all the time. He'd also be the one who always take one for the team whenever one of them need to make a skill check, even if his stats doesn't seem to be the highest. He doesn't seem to be fazed by any trials that come his way and generally keeps his cool, unlike some people in this table. That is, until the DM puts down a giant enemy spider mini figure on the table and Jamil falls off his goddamn chair.
Vil surprisingly takes roleplaying pretty seriously? Idk I just can't see Vil half-assing acting even if it's only for a table top roleplaying game. And who knows? Maybe he'll finally get to be the hero he always wanted to be. His only obstacle? Leona's goofy ahh character name. Anyways, his character is an High Elf who comes from a long line of powerful noble Wizards.
Idia wanted to go fully on a "stealth DPS" (whatever that means) build, so his character creation focused primarily on what stats benefits his class more, which in this case is a Rogue Artificer. He'd invest most of his stats in Dexterity and Intelligence. For the race, he'd probably be an Elf for that +2 Dexterity; or maybe a Lightfoot Halfling for the nimbleness trait, no darkvision tho; or he could be a gnome for darkvision, +2 Intelligence and +1 Dexterity. All depends on what kind of Rogue Artificer he wants to be, he'd either be a Arcane Trickster or a Phantom (oof too close to home?). Whatever he is, he's all about that "Meta".
Malleus is very unfamiliar with the whole rules, character creation, etc but he's just happy to be invited here :). His whole thought process while creating his character is probably like 'hm..a Dragonborn? Well, I am a dragon fae..". So yeah, his character is a Dragonborn Sorcerer. Kinda predictable tbh, but very... Malleus, also his solution for every problem is to cast Fireball. Yea, his character is pretty much just him but a dragon. But hey, my golden rule in DnD is that it's all about having fun, regardless of the characters.
Almost all of them would try to be the team leader, so there's gonna be a lot of fighting and arguing on the table.
This party is dysfunctional as hell idk what to tell you
Did I mention that this is also a group therapy?
Nothing says group therapy more than a whimsical adventure with your not-friends am I right?
Yea that's all I got for them, not much but yeah idk man

Please, I’m just a silly autistic little beast. Do you have games abt nuclear radiation or reactors? While I do prefer things like walking sims, exploration games and horror, I am curious what you could recommend! Just not anything with radioactive zombies or ghouls pls <3 I like more realistic approaches if that’s alright! Or something on the silly end like Turnip Boy Commits Tax Fraud
THEME: Nuclear Radiation
Hello friend! This is more about apocalyptic games than Nuclear games, probably because the first thing people think of when they hear of radiation is the apocalypse. But there's some fun concepts being explored here nevertheless!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nuclear Knights, by Gormengeist.
Nuclear Knights is a narrative-heavy action TTRPG about adventurers in a world thousands of years after a catastrophic magical nuclear war, where things have wrapped back around to high-magic pulp fantasy. Fight monsters, lead settlements, win battles of wit and worthiness, command the forgotten powers and mysterious ways- uncover what was lost, become something new.
Designed from the ground up to be as evocative of epic pulp fantasy during play as possible, the mechanics are easy to learn without sacrificing depth. Nuclear Knights attempts to be a marriage of classical dungeoneering and bold, modern collaborative storytelling.
This is a game where the radiation is more magical in nature, causing interesting, strange and esoteric mutations that you can contribute to as you play. As a dungeoneering game, there’s a lot of different pieces to help put your character together: classes, disciplines, homelands, titles and gods! Expect a lot of fun enemies and weird cursed loot.
Extinction Punk, by Extinction Punk.
Extinction Punk is a table-top role-playing game (TTRPG) that blends elements of science fiction and science fantasy to envision a future where humanity fails to stop a man-made extinction event such as a climate cataclysm, a nuclear holocaust, or a biological war.
Players of Extinction Punk get to explore the ruins of an Earth that is no longer under humanity’s control and encounter the (not necessarily) human civilizations that rise from the ashes. Together with the person organizing the game (the Game Master, or GM for short), the players create characters that will fight for survival while searching for powerful artefacts or useful mutations.
This is a Powered by the Apocalypse game, which means it’s going to favour story over mechanics. This means that players have quite a bit more control over world creation, so if you don’t want zombies, you don’t have to have them! This game has more mutation themes and options than basic Apocalypse World, and character playbook themes include Ancient Archivist, Bunker Baby, Hardly Human, and more!
Wastoid, by Jason Tocci.
Wastoid is a gonzo, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi RPG, inspired by games like Fallout, Mutant Crawl Classics, and Gamma World. (Especially Fallout! But not so much that Microsoft should sue.)
This game is still in the early development stage: the rules and character creation are bare-bones. However, Jason Tocci has created some insanely popular games and game systems in the past, so this game is probably going to be a huge hit once it’s fully released.
Wastoid uses the Knave rules as designed by Ben Milton, with various inspirations from Mausritter, The Black Hack, and other games. The preview is still a pretty heavy document, with 42 pages of character options, game rules, faction management and advice on running a game that’s fun for everyone. If you like a retro, pulp-action take on nuclear fallout, this might be the game for you.
However, if you want a gonzo-apocalyptic rpg that’s a bit more fully released, I’d recommend checking out Omega Soup, by Dice Doctor Games.
Games I’ve recommended in the past
Rad Divers, by Oscar C. Tango.

Tips on finding folks who'll give generous thoughtful feedback, and on ensuring a diversity of playtesters (not only across marginalisations, but experience levels etc).
Feedback and a robust set of playtesters are so important to my game design process. Playtesting is an absolute joy for me, while being an incredible way to grow as a designer.
So! Tips on finding your playtesters! Warning, I apparently went into full geek mode in this post, so proceed at your own risk.
Clarify what's essential for your core playtest group.
This differs per designer so I'll give you what's essential for me and why. Reading through this, I invite you to consider what makes you go "ah, me too!", "hmmm, nah", "oooh kinda" and create your own list of what's essential from your responses. I recommend keeping it to three things!
Relatively high experience with ttrpgs. I learned long ago that I enjoy designing complex and interesting experiences for my players. There is an argument to be made that complex games with a strong structure are actually great for those new to the hobby. I've seen folks point out that the "rules lite" and "simple" ttrpgs only really make sense to seasoned players. That being said, my games do ask for a high level of engagement, for players to be intuitive and creative on the fly. Also, players who have more experience across different games provide the most useful feedback for my process. Otherwise, and I hate to say it, the feedback tends to feel like "Getting A Lot Of Boss Baby Vibes From This".
Places story and character before mechanics. This makes it easier for me to keep tweaking the mechanics and play structure to encourage placing story and character first. I take note of what cool things my players did during a playtest, and later I'll try to codify that into a mechanic that's open to interpretation. I have a harder time with play testers who look too closely at the mechanics and feel constricted by them! But this can go too far: I don't get great feedback from folks who are comfortable ignoring a game and its mechanics almost entirely, and just free play the entire time. If they can't engage with my game then I can't work on its design. So finding that balance is key! Folks who help focus on the story and character potential contained in or bursting forth from my mechanics is super helpful.
Understands the kind of game I want to make. This is the most important one. The cool thing about indie games is you can and SHOULD go hard in expressing your gaming philosophy, while highlighting themes from your lived experience. I am not interested in creating a generic system that can play "any" experience. In my mind, that just means I've catered to the mainstream expectation of what a TTRPG is, which is influenced and structured by the dominant creative voice: cis-het, white, and male. Playtesters who understand, or are at least open to, the kind of games I make are essential. My games often dive into queer and post-colonial themes: found family, emotional exploration, a focus on relationships, generational responsibility and pain, a personal definition of freedom, among others. This is not because I am consciously writing about these things: I am simply writing what I know. And what I know is being a queer Filipino. Does that mean I need playtesters who are only queer and Filipino? No, absolutely not. But playtesters who don't force a mainstream/heteronormative/cis/white perspective through feedback is essential.
Find a community that is made up of players who embody what's essential for you
Do you absolutely need to engage with a community? No, you can put together a group of friends and playtest with each other, sure! In fact that's what I do now. But most of these people I met through an online community!
My own experiences with putting together groups just wasn't as enriching compared to becoming part of a community. TTRPGs shine the most when they're played with people who can engage with each other meaningfully, and communities provide that energy in abundance.
Your best bet is to find this community online. And I mean community community. The general open social spaces like Twitter, hashtags "communities", Tumblr, un-modded Discord servers, these are not communities. They are social spaces made up of several folks who just happen to have the same hobby.
Instead seek out online spaces that are cared for, that have a group of active members who ensure safety and expression, who put marginalized voices first. I know these spaces are few. But every time I have drifted from them to seek out playtesters elsewhere, I have been disappointed 90% of the time. You may have more luck than I do tho!
You can find this group in person, but indie ttrpgs flourish online. It's just easier to find people, usually across different time zones and all around the globe, who are interested in playing indie games.
Prioritize players over designers
So, I say this as someone who enjoys playtesting and engaging with designers. Let me explain what I mean.
This is a very personal thing, but my design and tastes prioritize play over theory. My design philosophy grows and evolves through the act of play. I design from a place of intuition and instinct, and only see what I was doing in hindsight. It's a grounded and dirty creative process. The hindsight sharpens instinct, and the process starts all over again.
I tend to get better feedback from folks who will say things like "well, I only just play, I'm not a designer", or from other designers who prioritize play as much as I do.
In my experience, the feedback I get that comes from a purely theoretical place, just doesn't vibe with me or offer anything I can act on. I'll think we're talking about the same thing, and it turns out, we absolutely weren't! It made the feedback and conversation frustrating.
Games designed from "pure" theory tend to be unfun for me to play or engage with. (this opens a whole new conversation about the value of games that aren't designed played, and I do cherish their value, but that's outside of my playtesting advice!)
If your design process and enjoyment is different from mine, then heck yes friend, go find your people and make beautiful games together!
When something works, stick with it.
My playtesting process has grown and changed over the years, and I've settled on a very simple process that offers the best feedback for my design.
I have two core playtesters (shout out to Josh of @ostrichmonkey-games and Sherri Stewart), and a rotating huge group of players (who mostly came from one online community, but a whole bunch are folks I met online and support my games).
My core playtesters embody the essentials: Josh and Sherri have a lot of experience with ttrpgs (that differ from each other), they place story and character before mechanics, and they understand the kind of games I want to make (better than I do, I would dare say).
For each game I playtest, I'll pick 1-2 more players from the open group who bring something else I need. Sometimes it'll be "I need someone relatively new to ttrpgs" or "I need someone who loves the magical girl genre as much as I do" or "I need someone who doesn't know what the heck the magical girl genre is".
It can be as hyper specific as "I think my game would break and become unfun with someone who takes their time and maybe overthinks a little bit, who talks it out for a long time with players. I'm going to see if I can tweak the game to be more accommodating to this playstyle."
There you go! Playtesting is my favorite part of the game design process and I'm always happy to talk about it. I hope this is helpful!

Ask game time!!!
✨ For Link! 🍀 For simeko! 🎓 for Brenin!
YES GOOD IT IS TIME
✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name? (Link) Believe it or not, Link's name has nothing to do with the Legend of Zelda (though many people initially assume so)! It's actually a play on my initials, starting with my first name (Li-----), my middle initial (N), and my last initial (K)! When I took the name for myself, I wanted a sona that matched, and honestly, nothing felt more right for him than just "Link"!
🍀 - What originally inspired the OC? (Simeko) In one of my first D&D games, ran by my then-best-friend's boyfriend, we were meant to come up with PCs that would meet up with an archaeologist for exploring a dig site/ruin. Joining this campaign would mean making my third PC for TTRPGs. Despite my love of cats, I still hadn't made a catfolk, so I had to fix that once I'd been given the opportunity. Due to the setting/premise of the campaign, I really wanted to go with 'loves ruin diving' but I also wanted something a little more fun than just 'explorer' so I gave him an obsessive love of fish as well (because cats. it's funny. tell me I'm funny /j).
He really only developed further than that upon joining the book club/Valeron campaign tho! I can't share much more tho because secrets, secrets, never tell. :3c
🎓 - How long have you had the OC? (Brenin)
Somehow, his Toyhouse created on date is actually close to accurate! It's been about 4 years since I got this baby boy. He was originally created by a user on Amino and put up for sale, and when I fell in love, my friend picked him up for me and I went DIS ME I AM DIS. And thus, a sona was born lol.

MONTHLY MEDIA: June 2023
Summer months here we go! Just wrapped up my time with Zelda so I foresee more reading and tv in my future again. In the meantime, here’s how I spent June!
……….FILM……….
Tumblr media
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) Saw it twice and the first time was very nearly too much to take in. The second viewing was far less overwhelming and still a joy. While it didn’t feel like a complete story following Miles, at least there’s some satisfying conclusion with Gwen. I’m glad part 2 comes out in less than a year.
Ali Wong: Baby Cobra (2016) Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood or maybe going with one of her older specials wasn’t the right call but I wasn’t really feeling it. I can see hints of overlapping themes that pop up in BEEF (which I loved and why I wanted to watch one of her specials) but that was more interesting than it was funny. Still gonna check out her other specials.
Tumblr media
Goldeneye (1995) I have more memories playing the game than watching the movie but still a big fan of this flick. Really great characters and locales and I forgot just how comedic it is. So many one-liners! Always feels a little long at the end but worth it to see Boris’ death scene.
Encanto (2021) Late to seeing this and really great! Beautiful and personal and peak musical songs where characters basically ONLY share their personality through song.
……….TELEVISION……….
Tumblr media
Ted Lasso (Episode 3.11 to 3.12) I was really dragging my feet about finishing the series as I found season 3 wasn’t as consistently enjoyable to watch. But those last two eps really stuck the landing. Some beats were expected, some were welcome surprises, and there were so many callbacks that were naturally woven in that I was really impressed. Some of the best from the season (and on par with the rest of the series) and I’m really glad I finished it.
……….YOUTUBE……….
Tumblr media
Do "gun buybacks" work? by Vox A really succinct breakdown of how the US can do better, and an honest look at why this needs to be a part of a more complex plan. VIDEO
Tumblr media
Agnostic TTRPG Prep Method by Map Crow Really fun way to use all the books that you’re not currently using! Watch the vid and then if you like the process you can pick up the bundle HERE (not affiliated, just a fan). VIDEO
Tumblr media
The Station Toronto Needs by RMTransit Hey I’m a big fan of trains and I just found this channel. This was my first introduction to them but I’m keen to watch more. More trains! VIDEO
Tumblr media
How Editing Creates Comedies That Make You Cry... by The Editing Podcast Another channel I recently came across and I’m keen to watch more. I know very little about editing but am keen to learn more.  VIDEO
……….READING……….
Tumblr media
Bullshit Jobs by David Graeber (Page 7 of 285) Clearly I’ve only just started this (thanks to me dragging my feet on The Righteous Mind) but really excited to dig deeper. The prologue is the original essay that inspired the book and that alone already has so much in it! A really great primer and I wasn’t expecting it to lay a lot of the blame at capitalism’s feet so I think it’s gonna be a great read.
The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion by Jonathan Haidt (Complete) The first time I read this (at a time when the COVID-19 vaccine was just coming out and folks were choosing not to get it) the book really helped me understand the reasoning behind other people’s choices. For that it was really helpful. This time around, with more time and more political moves behind us, I find it glaringly obvious just how out of touch (or conservative-leaning) this book is. There’s a whole section about how the free market and capitalism is good for healthcare. Wild stuff. If you want more in-depth reviews explaining why this didn’t sit right with me this time around, I found Storygraph had a lot of great write-ups (also Storygraph is great if you want an alternative to the amazon-owned Goodreads).
Tumblr media
Delicious in Dungeon Vol. 12 by Ryoko Kui (Complete) Listen I sing this series’ praises every time I read a volume and this is no different. Somehow the story, setting, and characters grow while still remaining connected to the main theme of “what if we ate the monsters we fought in an RPG?” It’s truly top-tier and I can’t stress enough that if you like charming, funny, expertly-illustrated comics, you should try out this series.
The Fade Out by Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips, and Elizabeth Dismang (Complete) Really fun read. Old Hollywood murder mystery with a lot of really nuanced characters. The resolution felt a little abrupt and unsatisfying, but without giving anything away I think it was appropriate. I’m also not sure if it was a stylistic choice but all of the women have different shadows than the men. It feels like they’re living in two different worlds but maybe that’s intentional? Still really great.
……….AUDIO……….
Tumblr media
PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation by King Gizzard (2023) Loved King Giz’s first foray into metal and this continues that trend. I may not love everything that they do, but I love that they do everything that they do.
……….GAMING……….
Oz: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) The Tuesday Crew is currently up against a young dragon (Dragonette) plaguing a mine (recap HERE) while the Mof1 Crew is divided across Munchkin District and each dealing with their own small crisis. They say never split the party but I think the trouble gets way more interesting when you do.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Nintendo) Finally moving on from this after countless hours spent in this world and it’s all bittersweet. Loved the familiar stuff, loved the new stuff, and loved the overall arc of the game. Hopefully the next game in the series goes back to something smaller and focused.
And that’s it. See you in July!

✨Self-Rec Tag Game ✨
Rules: Share five of your own fanworks (fic, art, etc.). Then, tag five more people to share the things they’ve made. I’ve put categories below, but they’re more guidelines than rules.
I was tagged by @palipunk, who frankly is so talented I want a gallery of their work on my wall. Thank you!
Something you absolutely adore
I think it has to be the blank maps I made of Thedas. I used all the canon maps released from Stolen Throne to Tevinter Nights, including the ttrpg and matched them up to the same scale so I could expand the Thedas map. I still manage to find new maps details every now and then that I update this with.
Tumblr media
Something that was challenging to create
These were the same project, and my first go at maps like this. I learned a lot and honestly there are a few things I'm going to revisit post da4 if we get more info on Antiva. I also completely missed the bit of blighted land in northern Antiva going to Rivain. Still I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

Something that makes you laugh (or smile, if that fits more comfortably)
These are still wips but my rework of Thedosian bestiary to make them to scale based off lore as well as just exploring them as real animals. Mabari being as tall as dwarves, exploring deepstalkers with their lips actually closed, and a baby griffon.

Something that surprised you (in how it turned out, how much other people liked it, etc.)
The original biome map for Thedas. I was really surprised about how much people liked it as well as how it turned out. It's a bit out of date as far as Antiva and Ferelden area goes. But I look forward to updating it.

Something you want other people to see
The Foods of Thedas Master Post I put together honestly. I'm very happy about it and honestly am so immersed in the food lore, its actually why I started making the maps. I wanted to know what plants were in Thedas, where they grew, ect so I could then figure out what else could be there. Now I'm waist deep in the lore and making banners for everything haha. I'm really excited to be updating it once the official cookbook comes out.

Hey guys! Ignoring that I haven't posted fic in a while... Actually no not ignoring that. I'm sorry about it. I have been *super sick*, not in a mental illness way but in a brain fucky way. I will try to use 1.4 coming out as a motivator but I do also have something else that I'm trying to work on.
Which is what this post is really about.
Two and a half years ago my wife and I created a TTRPG game which has evolved into a fully fledged plot for an animated web series. I am working as the sole animator for our first character trailer, and I will be dedicating a lot of my time to that. So fic stuff is on hold for more than one reason right now. But more to the point: I love writing fanfiction, but this story is my life's work. Almost three years of brainstorming, plotting, script writing, etc. has led us to be ready to start animating. This project is so so so important to me. I'm hoping some of the people who like my fanfic writing will also be interested in what I have come up with for this project.
If you are curious to learn more there is an official blog for the story at @batteryarcana. If you are interested in working with us for voice acting, art, sound design, script writing, literally anything - DM me here or on that blog, I'm the one that manages it. We have a cast list for the first season and it is a REALLY diverse cast so if you are a person of color, trans/nb, or non-heterosexual you are extra encouraged to talk to me about voice acting! As the project moves past preliminary stages and we start getting funding on patreon/through potential ad revenue we will be finalizing contracts for proper payment.
Battery Arcana is my baby. We are so excited to show it to the world. If you like my writing, please consider looking into supporting this project and watching it evolve!

15 questions for 15 mutuals
Tagged by @yuniemaki ☺️
1. are you named after anyone?
nope! My name was chosen entirely based on whether my grandparents could pronounce it (and they can. sort of)
2. when was the last time you cried?
I don't cry much, but watching Graduation Trip after finishing Chapter 38 of Honkai Impact 3rd really got me in the feels 😭
3. do you have kids?
I have one bratty dog and I love her evil sassy little butt
Tumblr media
4. do you use sarcasm a lot?
sarcasm is practically my default tone of voice irl tbh
5,  what sports do you play/have played
got into an argument recently about whether it counts as a "sport" but I rock climb/boulder indoors frequently (and it TOTALLY counts as a sport imo) Otherwise I had a pingpong phase back in highschool
6. what's the first thing you notice about people?
physically, their hair/outfit. psychologically(?), their mood/vibe
7. what's your eye color
Dark brown
8. scary movies or happy endings
both?? I love horror, but I hate jump scares (cheap tactic) I need the kind of horror that keeps me awake at night and changes my fundamental views on reality. And happy endings (even after a scary movie) are cathartic and maybe this is cheesy but I'm at the point in life where I appreciate the simple, happy things
10. where were you born?
New York, the place mentioned in that one song by Alicia Keys
9. any special talents
my ability to hyperfixate and listen to the same song on loop for days/weeks/months on end is honestly a superpower
11. what are your hobbies?
ah, I have so many and I cycle between them by the week: drawing, writing, gaming, game dev, rock climbing, playing TTRPGs (as both a player and recently, a GM), 3D printing, and the newest one - learning bass! If anyone shares an interest or wants to know more about any of them, reply to this post or shoot me a DM :)
12. do you have pets?
*points at question 3* I live with 2 dogs and am auntie to 4 more!
13.  how tall are you?
5'6" or 166-167cm
14. favorite subject in school?
Art, lit and biology, I slept through just about everything else haha
15,  dream job?
Need a rich woman to sponsor my shenanigans. Like a...creatively inclined sugar baby? Is that a thing? I wanna make whatever cool shit I please and just get paid/funded to do it. This month? A 3D printed sword prop from [insert game/anime]. Next month? 100k fic of sapphic angst, pining, and adventure. After that? Who knows! I just want to live comfortably and create. (Instead I am getting my soul sucked out by the tech industry in this capitalist hellhole 😔)

OC TAG GAME 。*・♡;
I saw some mooties doing it, so I decided to do mine as well!
Favorite OC: Andrine Vanfell (Pathfinder: Kingmaker)
What can I say?
Don't matter how much time passes, she is my baby, my cinnamon roll, my fav bimbo.
I have had funny moments playing her, and when I'm feeling down, I like to imagine what she would do in my place (answer: dancing and shaking the shit off)
Newest OC: Laura de Loiola (Resident Evil 4 Remake)
Since I'm hyperfixated in RE4 Remake, I was driven to create an OC to bang Luis' brains out to interact with the game's blorbos. Laura was inspired in another OC who didn't see the daylight unfortunately (she would be a WtA TTRPG character).
I'm still sharping her background and personality while writing The Windmill, but overall I noticed that she and Luis shares the same brain cell, and that's beautiful (although she has social anxiety, but they are a pair of weirdos).
Oldest OC: Renée Lunenoire (Original Series)
My best girl, I would never imagine that a character from my first sapphic oneshot would become one of my comfort characters ever.
Renée is a werewolf, and also (not less important) a tailor. She is short (162cm), and at first sight people could think 'oh what a cutie', but when she changes her shape to a fuckin 3-meters-height black wolf, everybody passes out /jk
She is a blorbo, a bisexual mess. Thinking about if I gave ADHD to her or not.
Meanest OC: Olívia Garmendia (Original Series)
Another woman that God forbids to do anything.
From the same universe of Renée, Olívia is a blood sorceress, and became a noble after an unfortunated 'accident' with her former sire. She has no patient with the court men, mainly because she knows everybody's sins there (while the Queen looks at the other side).
She doesn't measure her actions to keep children and young women safe. The Marquise of Iparredia isn't there to make friends. Few people know her gentleness and vulnerability (Hugo is one of them).
Softest OC: Ekaterina Grushankaya (Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous)
Oh yes, her.
Katya is one of my tallest babies, and I guess it's the one with the softest demeanor of all.
A druid from Irrisen, she has seen up close how a kingdom works under Baba Yaga's chicken legs. Firsthand ruthless, baby. And we are not counting her tribe's distrustful arround her origins; after all, why would someone leave a baby aasimar with them?
Her voice is soothing and she avoids violence, but when she really got angry or is conviced that peace is not an option, pick a god and start praying. Her animal totem isn't a boar for nothing.
Most Aloof/Standoffish OC: Cassandra Constantinescu (Vampire Hunter D)
Like we use to say in Brazil, I must confess that she is my 'left behind at the barbacue' character, but I enjoyed so much to write her background. Cassandra has PTSD since the day her former home was invaded by vampires and their thralls. Hence, she carries dark emotions, and most of the time she feels like she doesn't belong anywhere. It's hard for her to trust in strangers, and even her few close friends almost have no clues about what's going on her head.
Dumbest (Affectionate) OC: Damian Vieri (Original Series)
Oh, my boy, my pal, my little soldier.
He changed SO MUCH.
He is from the same universe of Renée and Olívia, and is an anarchist Hunter of Myths (a kind of monster hunter). He left his home after aa fight with his father, because the old man didn't accept he has a son, not a daughter. Then my short king started a new life, and for some reasons he will meet Renée and they will adopted dozens of cats.
Smartest OC: Melina Trevelyan (Dragon Age Universe)
Do you know when you create a character whose intelligence is over yours but you can't stand in their mind enough because you are a dork? Yes, that's my relationship with Melina lol
I must confess that it's still a bit bitter talking about her after all the shit that happened at the TTRPG where she was one of the characters, but anyway. I can't forsake her, maybe one day I could reboot her story (and keep Lucius on her life, because he is her silver lining)
OC you'd be best friends irl: Hugo Otobeltza (Original Series)
My goodest boy. Don't matter if he killed someone and/or broke somebody's bones, he did what he could to survive! Hugo always has a daddy joke on his sleeve, and is always ready to help his beloved ones. If he existed in real life, probably he would be an Uber driver lol

I know it's the last day but...
❤️🧡💛HAPPY PRIDE MONTH💚💙💜
Ok, I really don't know how to edit font size, style and color, so just pretend it's a rainbow please? ;-; I was planning to do a special post on the 28th, but I got kinda busy and lost my own deadline. So I decide to get into CP77 and take a few screenshots of all my babies and their lovers. There's even my first girl here, and I've never posted anything related to her before. Also, I've decided to give them all a proper name, a definitive name. So here goes:
The first one is my rockergirl Mayumi "Blue" Kayoh, she's a Streetkid and was born in NC, I actually created her first on the ttrpg and decide to bring her to cp77, and then I just fall in love with the stupid bitch.
The boy is my Vince, his full name is Vincent Viktor Vitenka. He's my babyboy what can I tell? Also born in NC on a corpo family, and followed their steps, until... Well, I guess yall know the story :v
Veronica "V" Valentte was my first girl, my first ever cyberpunk playthrough was with her, and boy, what a ride! She brings me a lot of emotions, and opening her files was nostalgic.
And the last is my girl Valerie "V" Schäell, I guess yall have seen her around here before. She's a nomad (believe it or not :P), born in California but outside NC, she lived with the Bakkers until she doesn't.
And I guess that's it?! Thank you if you read until here ❤️ I really appreciate it c:

tell us about undeadwood pls?
HELL YEAH HELL YEAH HELL YEAH
Okay! So! UnDeadwood is a four-part Weird West themed mini series put on by Critical Role, an Actual Play TTRPG company. Critical Role's main stuff is typical fantasy DnD actual play show streamed on youtube/twitch/in podcast form. UnDeadwood is also an actual play show, but using a different TTRPG system (Deadlands: Reloaded, which uses the Savage Worlds core system). It's a weird West setting - Old West frontier mixed with zombies and the like.
Oh! And it's also set in the sleepy town of Deadwood, and uses a lot of the places and people from the show Deadwood. (I've never seen the show, but many of the usual players in it - who are all based in history - such as Al Swearengen, Joanie Stubbs, EB Farnum, and Doc Cochran, all make appearances. And Johnny. Can't forget Johnny!) Deadwood was a big gold mining camp in South Dakota, and was known for being a particularly lawless settlement.
All that aside - it's a show about five newcomers to Deadwood who get hired to investigate some weird happenings around the mining camp. It's got an absolutely amazing cast (Brian W. Foster as the GM, Anjali Bhimani, Matthew Mercer, Travis Willingham, Marisha Rey, and Khary Peyton. Also Ivan van Norman as the barkeep), and in my opinion, is the best thing Critical Role has done production wise. It's got an amazing set, costumes, miniatures, etc for an actual play show.
And for an improv based show? It's got some of the rawest fucking lines. Just absolute brilliance. For example:
I've seen enough people be animals out there, to know that if God made us in his image, God's every bit as feral as the things he created. - Clayton Sharpe, played by Matthew Mercer.
Also the characters are so fucking good!! They are:
Clayton Sharpe - a gun for hire with some Secrits who can barely hit the broad side of a barn (we love him he's baby)
Matthew Mason - the new Reverend in town, a bumbling sweetheart of a man (when he's not being scary) who's also got some Secrits
Miriam Landisman - a 'purveyor of goods needed' who can charm anyone into doing anything, who also has Secrits she's hiding
Arabella Whitlock - an occult enthusiast and rich girl who's grieving her dead sister - guess what? She's also got Secrits
'Aly' Aloysius Fogg - a bounty hunter and suave motherfucker who - you guessed it! ALSO HAS SECRITS
Basically all of them are full of secrets like Regina George's hair and it's absolutely amazing. I've listened to the podcast like half a dozen times and I'm still noticing new things on my most recent re-watch.
UnDeadwood is also the first fandom I've ever been really involved in!! It got me started writing fanfic, and I now mod a very small discord for UnDeadwood fans. I've made SO many fandom pals through it, and I love them very much. It's a really small fandom, and very quiet these days, but it's really lovely.
If you enjoy watching people play TTRPGS and also enjoy Old West settings and really beautifully done character arcs, I would highly recommend it. It's about 9-10 hours of watching/listening in total. However - be warned that the ending is kind of devastating, if that's not your thing.
It is all available on the youtube! This is the link to the first episode!
Also if you watch it you are contractually obligated to come yell at me about it anon (not actually, but i would love u forever if you did)
Thanks for the ask!!

Patreons I Support
Between the impending Twitter collapse, the growth of unethical AI applications in creative spaces, and [gestures broadly at the world], I’m trying to more regularly uplift the art and artists I admire—and in this case, materially support.
Many folks are familiar with Patreon. If you’re not, Patreon is a membership platform that allows creatives to earn a monthly income and deliver rewards to their subscribers. Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, and Memberful are similar alternatives.
A lot of Patreon creators offer tangible perks but personally, even if they didn’t, I would still patronize them! Below are the Patreons I currently back:
Tumblr media
Kelly Turnbull
https://www.patreon.com/coelasquid/
I’ve been a fan of Kelly Turnbull’s work for over a decade, starting with her webcomic Manly Guys Doing Manly Things and then everything I’ve seen from her since. Turnbull is an animation director, cartoonist, and remarkable storyteller. I’m not familiar with most of the media she makes fan comics for and I still adore all of it; her capacity to convey complex character relationships is a masterclass in dialogue writing and visual narrative. If I ran a major animation studio I would give her an absurd amount of money and tell her to do literally whatever she wanted, that is how strongly I feel about her work.
Tumblr media
Marlowe Lune’s Merry Blackbird Postcard Society
https://www.patreon.com/marlowelune/
Marlowe Lune is an illustrator of very trans historical and fantasy subjects. Their art style is stunning, unique, and thoughtfully researched, and subscribing to their Patreon comes with the perk of regular postcards of their prints. My partner and I have a lot of Lune’s art up around our house, and though we cannot put up anymore lest our abode just become a Marlowe Lune tribute gallery, I remain subscribed because I’m a big fan of what they do and the postcards make great gifts.
Tumblr media
max graves
https://www.patreon.com/maximumgraves/
I read the webcomic What Happens Next earlier this year and immediately went and subscribed to graves’ Patreon because it’s that fucking brilliant. It's an ingenious exploration of queer victim culture and (absence of) accountability and true crime and so much more. One of the main characters is a trans guy who was an accomplice to a murder but won’t delete his My Little Pony tumblr. There’s actually no explanation I can give of WHN that will convey how remarkable it is so you should just go read it. This comic is really special and I’m really looking forward to seeing where graves goes with it and what he creates in the future.
Tumblr media
Possum Creek Games
https://www.patreon.com/possumcreek/
If you’re a fan of even one Possum Creek Games title (I am a fan of many) or indie tabletop roleplaying games writ large, supporting the Possum Creek Games Patreon is some of the best money you could possibly spend. It gets you access to the wonderful community that is the PCG discord, some behind the scenes stuff, first looks/early access to games, and some really thoughtful more academic-type writing about ttrpgs and storytelling from their Editorial Director, Jay Dragon. Possum Creek is a strong positive force in the indie ttrpg scene and I really appreciate their generative, nuanced, and people-first approach to everything.
Tumblr media
Snake Discovery
https://www.patreon.com/snakediscovery/
Snake Discovery is an educational reptile YouTube channel (and now zoo). There are a lot of deeply unethical animal content creators and so I appreciate that the people behind the channel, Ed and Emily, are thoughtful, transparent, and very specific about standards of care. I really love reptiles but do not presently have one or plan to have one in my care any time soon, so I enjoy living vicariously through the dozens of videos of baby snakes they share each year.
There are other wonderful creators out there whose work I greatly admire but unfortunately I cannot support infinite Patreons. If you love an artist’s work and you have the means, I strongly encourage you to find a way to regularly support what they do, whether that’s via Patreon or some other means.

The Wizard Challenge
If you're like me and you have both an unquenchable thirst for roleplaying games and executive dysfunction, then you might also find yourself in a similar headspace of getting distracted and not tackling tasks that are necessary for the average functional civilian.
So, I decided to use my favorite pastime (coming up with D&D characters that I'll never use) as a way to help me motivate myself and trick myself into adopting better habits and routines in the coming year.
I didn't make any major new years resolutions for 2023 other than "do the the damn thing," and generally get around to all the things I should get done. My mental illness often inhibits me from getting into the correct state of mind where I feel motivated enough to start something, much less finish it.
And then I got to thinking, what if I could give myself XP for actually finishing tasks I set out to do? What If I could fuel my motivation with my inherent desire for escapism?
As a millennial with mental illness, I've seen motivational plans and tips like this a hundred times before, and have always felt pretty meh about them or fallen off early. Since I thought of this concept, however, I haven't been able to get it out of my head. Might as well give it a shot!
I first turned to D&D 5e, the TTRPG system I'm most familiar with. It's easy to grasp, and there's tons of materials available online.
Then I started going down the rabbit hole that is creating a character concept, which is my favorite part of starting any game. But I also had to think of how I would apply my task management and routine-building.
I decided to pick a Wizard for my class. Because one of my general goals is to read more often, Wizard felt like a good option; any time I finish a book, I can treat it as a spell and add it to my wizard's spellbook.
I've been playing a lot of Potionomics and I adore the design for Luna, a moth girl with a talent for marketing. I picked Fairy for my wizard's ancestry, and got to work designing a moth-ish Wizard baby. Her name is Phalena, she enjoys green tea, and I'm aiming for her subclass to be Order of Scribes.
Then I sat down to think over how certain tasks and goals should be calculated in terms of experience. I didn't want to make things too easy on myself, so I factored in the idea that most D&D groups are about 4-6 players on average. I looked up some basic enemy stats for 5e (specifically, low CR enemies) and used that to build up my own system.
Basically, everyday tasks like doing laundry, washing dishes, or picking up groceries are equal to low-level monsters like zombies and skeletons (challenge rating 1/4). These are things that must be done, but can still be difficult to accomplish.
The total experience points awarded for defeating a zombie is 50 xp. As I said, though, you'll typically be playing D&D with at least 2 other people. Taking into account a 5-person party, that 50 xp is divided into 10 xp each.
Considering that the average time to actually start and finish one of these tasks is relatively low (15 to 30 minutes being the range), the trick that made the most sense to me was to take the total time in minutes it took to finish something and multiply it by 2 to get my total xp.
The original idea was to just multiply the minutes by 10, which would get me roughly around the average amount of xp in an encounter. For example, washing the dishes would be 150 xp. But if I'm trying to keep my numbers more in line with regular D&D sessions, that number would have to be split 5 ways to account for companions that I would surely need to overcome these encounters.
I mean, we all know how squishy wizards are. Let's be realistic.
So, the system became # of minutes a task takes to start and finish x 2. This also accounts for more arduous and draining tasks like studying or a workout session, which take longer, to have a proportional reward.
I'll be real right now: I haven't ironed out absolutely everything yet. I already have lots of ideas for other things I want to try. For example, I'm currently studying for specific certification that is in my field of work. Rather than just tallying up all experience points from studying sessions and taking the test, I also want to treat it like a side quest for a magic item - maybe a flying broomstick or an upgraded spellbook.
I also have thoughts about how rests should be treated, if I should think of those as self care activities. Maybe activities that I like that should be more moderated like playing video games can be seen as spell slots or once-per-long-rest abilities.
There's a lot of mechanics in 5e I could potentially incorporate other than just xp and new spells, but I feel like this is a good foundation for what I'm trying to do.
I also wanted to share this on Tumblr because I know there are others like me who may or may not find this interesting, and also 2023 is the year of the wizard as I understand it.
I want to be able to sketch my wizard and share her soon, but in the mean time I've already racked up some xp in the past couple days that I'm itchin to log.
