for the baby genderfluid tips!!

this could just be me lmao, but DO NOT donate your fem clothes if you feel masc for longer than usual. or vice versa.

keeping a gender journal is something that can be really helpful to actually look back on and see how it changes (and also have proof of fluidity for when you begin to think "hmm actually im just a trans girl. nothing else." no, you probably aren't. you felt completely boy/nonbinary/etc just a month ago, and thats okay.)

basically it can be really hard to embrace that your gender is not static, especially if your gender stays stable for a slightly longer period. it took me so long to stop rotating between "im a girl always" "no, im a boy always" "actually, im nonbinary always" to just admit im genderfluid.

also, make genderfluid content. you don't have to show it to anyone, but sometimes it can really help to make poetry or art or write a story about being fluid and your experience in particular. i have an easy avenue for this since i write fanfiction (haven't published any of it yet lmao) and i just hit my favorite characters with my genderfluid beam and go nuts

follow people who are genderfluid, read genderfluid books, maybe join a genderfluid discord server (there are barely any, so actually maybe make one), try to make genderfluid friends. you are not alone, even though it sometimes feels that way.

if you have plushies or anything similar, make them genderfluid. i have a genderfluid squishmallow who i use she/they pronouns for, and a little husky that switches between he/she. idk it just helps sometimes lol

some of us change gender daily, or multiple times a day. some of us change gender only a couple times a year, or even less. we're all different and that's fine.

tips for presentation:

if you have a day when you can't figure out gender, go neutral clothing-wise

take little things to ease dysphoria if you switch when you're out somewhere (ex. lipgloss, eyeliner, leather bracelet, etc)

if you can, get pronoun pins. seriously, get pronoun pins (or a colored bracelet for subtlety or if you're not out). you can wear multiple at a time, you can switch them whenever you need to. you aren't a burden if your pronouns change. you don't have to stick to they/them to be easy for people.

if you can, get a versatile hairstyle that you can make suit your gender no matter what. if you cant, try to get a hairstyle that makes you the least dysphoric overall.

if you are organized enough, separate your clothes based on gender/what you feel comfy wearing on different days. do not pressure yourself to fit stereotypes. some people can only feel comfortable in skirts when theyre boys, so they only wear skirts on boy days. do what works for you.

it's kinda complicated, but if you can expand your vocal range to sound more fem or masc depending on how you feel, it can help. alternatively, vocal train to make it more androgynous.

keep makeup wipes with you in case you need to take it off part way through being out. basically, make it as easy as possible to be able to change/tweak your presentation if necessary.

this could just be me, but having lots of hoodies in different colors and styles will save your life

sometimes you might have "blender days", which is what i call it when your gender feels like its in a blender in a bad way and you can't tell at all what it is, everything feels wrong, it's changing like every 10 minutes, etc. tbh on these days all i can do is put on sweats and a hoodie and feel dysphoric. listen to music if it helps. do a hobby.

non-clothing items can help a lot. a blue tshirt and jeans can be whatever you want it to be based on what you wear it with. (ex. sneakers/ballet flats, leather bracelet/sparkly necklace, baseball cap/eyeliner)

and lastly: YOU ARE AMAZING. keep being you, keep being incredible, and know that being genderfluid is a gift. be proud to be who you are, have fun, know that you are unique and special and wonderful!! we're ever-changing, and that's awesome. you are precious. i love you.

apparently i've gotten really good at having closeted queer vibes while still presenting as very fem, so i've decided to put together a bit of a list of tips

(btw this is coming from an afab person who still has to present as fem, as in dress fem and not cut my hair too short and etc. this probably wont apply to masc presenting people as much)

1. first, confidence, especially around people of the opposite gender. think "one of the boys" but not "let's go play football". in my experience, this helps to separate a fem person from the stereotype of thinking all boys are cute and giggling about them.

TLDR: be confident and friendly to everyone regardless of gender presentation.

2. halter tops and turtlenecks are your best friend. anything with a high neck, but in the summer, high neck + showing shoulders has gotten me on so many peoples gaydar without being obvious

3. if you have naturally curly or wavy hair, wear it natural, especially if you have shorter hair

4. if you have longer hair, do something other than wear it straight or in a ponytail. go for space buns or a single dutch braid or something else creative.

5. siobhan thompson glasses, or any wire glasses in an interesting shape (picture example below)

6. pants. if it's an event where you need to look nice, dress pants.

7. lipstick. preferably in a bolder color (i like browns and reds). also eyeliner on the outside corner of your eye, or more if that's your vibe. i always have to have natural looking makeup, so corner eyeliner is a great addition

8. converse, vans, or in the case of a nicer event find unique sandals or flats. avoid heels.

9. bracelets, dangly earrings, layered necklaces. avoid single necklaces.

10. [IMPORTANT!!] wear flattering colors. wear things that make you look great. don't conform to any trends. don't conform to my advice, even. wear what will make you the best you you can be. if you are authentic, other authentic people will know.

(these are just some tips that have worked for me. they may not work for everyone, but i've managed to find the few queer people in very anti-queer crowds at like a dozen events over the past year by following this advice. i felt lost when i first was discovering my identity, so hopefully some of this might help someone out)

Percy:Pastel punk and femme trans woman.She was always punk but finds the pastel edition most fitting and comforting after depreving herself of being allowed to enjoy womanhood for so long out of trauma.Blue is still is her main color ofc but she also mixes in different shades and different colored pastels and learns to reclaim her sea heritage so she also adds on mermaid themed things like seashell hairclips.Uses she/her but no they/them and also a BIG hoard of neopronouns due to her autism-Those being blue/dude/cookie/meow/paw/lego/doll(Last one is reserved soley for loved ones because of how weird people can get about them)and makes catgirl jokes sometimes by comparing herself to Rosie from Animal Crossing,Mae Borowski,etc.Afrolatina so she wears her hair in black styles,usually just letting it be down in it's natural super poofy state

Annabeth:Stud(A term for butch lesbian but black exclusive).Your classic pick me tomboy turned transmasc lesbian deal and has an undercut and was on t and got both surgeries,complete with owl wing shaped top surgery scars.Mostly uses he but ocassionally likes they and almost entierly uses masc terms(Such as 'king' over 'queen',Percy calls her 'Wise Guy' instead of 'Wise Girl' and so forth).Dresses like a tomboy everyday and wears suits and cologne for special occasions and helped Percy with her transition by giving her the 'girly' things she'd been gifted but didn't want,such as the Claire's kids makeup kit her stepmom bought her inbetween TLT and Som.Still has her silver owl earrings because imo they give her black butch swag and allows her to match with Percy and Grover,which i'll get to in a sec

Grover:Transneutral but presents as a mix of masc and fem and also gay(Juniper is a she/her transmasc).Since i hc him as blasian because of his actors,he mixes in his indian heritage with his specific type of gncness such as doing both men and women's traditions!!Sadly he felt bad about his identity at first because of stereotypes against asian men not unlike his two best friends and now found sisters too with their own queerness but thankfully,a big part of his character development is learning to do things for himself without caring what others think!As per canon he wears rasta hats but in 'groovy' fun colors and outfits that match them and tbh i don't wanna give him an assigned birth gender not just cause it's weird but also because i think it's more fun if you can make whichever interpretation you like :].He couldn't care less about pronouns as long as you're using them respectfully but uses xe/leaf in addition to the standard ones.And for the earrings,Percy has a pair of pastel blue strawberries with light pink petals and Grover has a mismatched set that's a music note and a leaf♡

i almost never draw men despite being a gay homosexual fruity man so genderbends just really tickle my pickle however twst fans are so egregiously bad at doing genderbends??? do. people just think genderbends are longer hair, boobs, and an hourglass figure? fem!vil would not just be vil but with allat YOU WANKERS RAAAGGHHHHH. vil is feminine because hes a MAN and is breaking out of the norms of being a man. his femininity is crucial to his identity as a man. whatever he may be, he'll always be gnc, because the whole point about him is that he DESPISES stereotypical expectations of gendered presentation. he owns his masculinity while also being comfortable in his femininity. so if vil were a woman she'd have short hair, dress in typically masculine clothes, call herself a king-- fuck, vil would probably use he/him pronouns. all that wouldn't negate fem!vil's identity as a woman because her womanhood is based off being her truest self, of embracing the energy that makes her, her, even if it isn't stereotypically feminine, and breaking out of the norms is what gives her power and comfort in her identity. her womanhood IS breaking out of the confines that shackle women to this paragon of submissive perfection. it makes me mad when people waste the potential of genderbends especially since gender can add different and interesting nuance to a character given how the concept itself can shape and affect people's lives on the whole. not to mention, women are often given more shit for doing the exact same thing men do so it'd be interesting to see these characters changed to adapt to that. more people might be anti's of fem!vil than of og!vil. call her a manhater and a feminist that's weakening society and so much more horrible shit because every weak man just NEEDS to drag a strong woman down and humble her and though og!vil is already headstrong, full of confidence, and ready to give anyone shit, fem!vil would have to build her resilience even more against the raging misogyny she'd receive. she knows just how much the world hates women and gnc people like her and that's what motivates her even more to destroy society's narrowminded perception of gender. and you just know how butch women aren't even perceived as women by many members of the queer community-- she's a woman, and she's butch, masculine, etc etc and you'll know it. she won't take shit from both heteronormative people AND prejudiced queer people.

maybe im just speaking yappanese because twst doesn't really have the history of misogyny and sexism as the real world does however there is proof that there is toxic gender norms where we can see the toxic masculinity from the real world being reflected in epel so id take that as an indicator that we may share similarities in some of their societies.

anyhow point is that if you genderbend gnc characters like vil to just be the stereotypical representation of the gender you're bending tjem to, you're the person they hate the MOST. you're putting them in the box they DESPISE because you refuse to see all the effort they've put into their non-conforming identity and seeing them as nothing more than what you expect from them-- perceiving them in the constricting standard they're fighting to break. STOP MAKING ALL FEM!CHARACTERS SHORTER AND THINNER AND MORE CONVENTIONALLY ATTRACTIVE YOU SCAT STAINS!!!!! WHILE A PART OF WOMANHOOD AND UNDESERVING OF HATE, ITS NOT THE PARAGON OF WOMANHOOD BECAUSE THERE IS NO STANDARD TO IT AND TO DEPICT ALL FEM!CHARACTERS AS A MONOLITH OF THE SORT IS AN INJUSTICE TO THEM AS A WHOLE!!! you want a girlboss but can't even do girlbosses right what makes you think you can handle girlfailures or girldisasters OR GIRLINSANITY. women are not there for you to draw them pretty. they can be just as complex as their masc counterparts if not more than in some scenarios.

i never quite understood why i always disliked vil genderbents specifically until like some time ago that i realized the reason i hated it it's because the way people draw it (hyperfemme) doesn't make sense for vil's character, it doesn't make sense that vil, as a man would dress feminine to fight gender roles yet if he was a woman that wouldn't happen and she would still be dressing feminine. genderbents r such an :/ topic because most ppl that make them take the characters make them shorter, skinnier, puts then in tight short clothes, gives them long hair makeup and idk man it always puts me off like being a woman is way more than that and despite the fact a lot of women do present themselves that way, making EVERY character be like that is just idk it FEELS wrong. i feel like most genderbents r just copy and pastes of the same gender roles slapped into a character carelessly just because and honestly it fucking sucks

there are probably so many more stereotypes, but those are the ones that i see more often! i also will be doing an aromantic version of this or at least i plan to.

bisexuals cheat more often. — we are simply attracted to more than one genders? there is no proof that people who are bi cheat more often bcs it is not true, im sorry if you got cheated on by a bisexual, but it wasn’t because they were bi, but because of the kind of person they were.

bisexuals are indecisive. — like where does this even stem from??? because they like more genders hence they „can’t pick”??? because „they can’t pick one gender”? like im sorry but are we saying sexuality is a choice now? it isn’t. hope this helps!

bisexuals are just homosexual/straight. — um… no. obv if you identified as a bisexual before coming to terms with your homosexuality that is okay, some people also might think they were bi for some time, just to realise they’re straight and that is okay. however the fact that their experience is valid, doesn’t make bisexuality less valid. both can be valid at the same time. there is nothing wrong with exploring your sexuality and new labels, if something fits at the moment it fits and a lot of people struggle with accepting they like the same sex only so they identify as bi for some time and that is okay! sexuality is fluid. like i said someone having a „bi phase” doesn’t mean everyone who is bi is having said phase. if some people went blonde, but realised they like black better, does it mean everyone who is blonde WILL realise they like black better and they’re just having a phase??? NO. some people just like blonde, some people are just bi.

bisexuality is 50:50 — no it isn’t. bisexuals can have a preference, just like a lesbian can like mascs more then fems, a bisexual can like one gender more and have a stronger pull to one gender, it doesn’t make them any less bi, they still like more than one gender, just have a preference, some bisexuals will be 50:50 and that is also okay, just not all are and it is wrong to assume so.

bisexuality isn’t valid — i find biphobia so annoying, because literally the LGBTQIA+ is a community that is supposed to be safe to those who’s sexuality isn’t „binary”, doesn’t conform to the standard (aka heterosexuality), yet still bisexuality is stigmatised so badly even in their own community. so let me say this again. being bi is okay. you are valid if: you’re a man, you’re a woman, you’re experiencing internalised biphobia, you’re anything outside the binary genders, you are biromantic, you are aromantic, asexual or anything aspec. as long as you’re attracted to more than one gender, not necessarily at the same time, you are bi.

all bisexuals are poly — this is not true & i kinda get where this assumption stems from, but being attracted to more than one gender makes us in no way polygamous, while some bisexuals might be and it is completely valid, not all are. polyamory is present in all sexualities, so assuming all bi people are poly just cause they like more than one gender makes no sense, lesbians can be poly, straight people can be poly, bisexuals can be poly, everyone can be poly despite their sexuality.

General opinion: I’d say season 1 Dan will forever be my fave. He’s a little shithead kid who gets the bomb dropped on him and he has to start reevaluating how he looks at the other people around him, but that starts to falter in the later seasons where he just becomes the stereotypical hero who gets all the buffs and does no wrong, which does his character such a disservice. I honestly like that he was such a dick in the beginning bc that’s how most kids are, but the point is they learn through meeting other people and experiencing shit. Unlike with most of my other posts, there isn't really a point or an argument to be made with this post. I kind of just wanted to talk about a lot of things and there's no better way to do it than to just make a post on the "talk about a lot of things" website. If you want to hear my thoughts about GNC, gay, disabled, and ND transmasc visibility at a very young age in the society we live in, you should probably read this post.

So you always hear stories about straight/male attracted transfems being visibly transfem or fem at a young age (like around 3-5 years old), and GNC cis gay men being fem from very young too, and maybe less so masc lesbians and female attracted trans men being visibly GNC around 3-5 years old, but I wanted to talk about how trans gay men may present when they are young before they can understand what being trans actually is. There are also definitely conversations to be had about trans lesbians too, but as I'm neither transfem nor a lesbian, I don't feel qualified to speak on their behalf. If you're a trans lesbian, feel free to reply to this post or make your own post about your experiences.

My experience having been a young transmasc gay person who didn't know he was transmasc or gay is pretty unique in that it's rarely talked about in media, but I have spoken to other transmasc achilleans about it and it seems to be decently common, but not universal, among us.

I was a moderately-visible neurodivergent and disabled (at the time not physically disabled) girl living in a non-USAmerican country. For the first five years of my life I would refuse to wear anything except skirts and dresses because they were neat and I liked them. However, around the age of five I stopped wearing skirts and would refuse to wear them at all for years until I discovered that I wasn't cis. No one knew at the time why I stopped wearing them. In my very early years of school I would have been considered a "tomboy" but as I got older the label started feeling weirder because I was not a lesbian. I had very stereotypical male interests (math, science, computer programming, etc) and presented as masculine but I was not attracted to women.

For many years after I moved to USAmerica I identified as bi despite not being attracted to women. I sort of tricked myself into thinking that I was in order to validate my gender weirdness. At the time I was very socially isolated, too—I would get bullied often for being too masc but also too fem to be a "real man," for being neurodivergent, and for appearing too gay. It's almost like my bullies knew that I was trans and gay before I did. Something about my mannerisms showed them I was trans even though at the time I had long hair and would dress fem (still, no skirts).

Because society shoved it down my young, egg throat that gender = presentation and that trans people must be gender conforming, I ended up convincing myself again that I was just a fem cis woman. I think what really made me feel comfortable with myself again was discovering FOB and developing it as a special interest very soon after that. My only sense of gender then was sexuality, and I knew I was really into men, so I convinced myself again that my femininity made me female because that's what men are attracted to.

Fast forward to when young, egg me started reading fanfiction. I would read everything but I started with x reader fic. Though I enjoyed the fics I always had felt like something was wrong. Fast forward to when I discovered gay, M/M fic. Something about it felt so right, especially fic where I could imagine myself being a feminine guy with a more masculine guy. I think that is when I realized that gender doesn't have to equal presentation.

What I realize now looking back is that egg me was extremely uncomfortable with a "biologically female" body. I should be allowed to be fem and attracted to men while in a male body, and I should be able to do that even if it's not a body I was born with. And this realization made all of my past struggles with gender make sense.

im so happy you see yourself in phys. both in terms of gender and neurodivergency. i have a strange relationship with gender in fics - irl i am fine with being seen as a woman, i dress and present in a traditionally feminine way ( longer hair , makeup, more revealing clothing i guess ) but i also like being seen as somewhat agender , so i think im a demigirl or nonbinary but fem-aligned? and when i read fic where the reader is fem, for me personally a lot of the time it feels too feminine, like im failing at being a girl . which is kind of silly but its just how it is. phys is important to me bc theyre the perfect kind of character for me to project onto; i think the best part of them is that they can be anything. if i want them to feel more like a girl or a boy, there is something for both of those, and if i want them to be completely gender neutral because im in the mood to feel completely gender neutral, thats fine too.

Ok so @bi-polar-geminii already made a post about this and had fruitful discussions about it but I feel like what I have to say might be too long to fit in their asks but

I definitely agree that SOME redacted artists seem to be unable of drawing diverse characters, keyword SOME because this fandom is one that definitely has a majority of lovely designs

And before I continue I want to point out that I am a snow cockroach myself so maybe I shouldn't be the one discussing this but obviously diversity is not just about race, it's about everything on a person like sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, body type, facial features and structures, hair textures and overall small features and accessories that differentiate the person

Honestly this is something that I've been thinking about for a long while and I won't name drop anyone because this isn't a call out post and I'm not looking to start drama (even though there is a certain someone that comes to mind but we won't talk about that) but I was scared that people would get really pissy.

I know that diversity is something that could be classified under artistic skill and I believe that not every artist who posts on social media can't just draw for fun and as a hobby without having the goal of improving but I do also think that diversity is not only a type of skill in character design but also a small gift to anyone that doesn't fit the the perfect beauty standards and when you seemingly refuse to draw anyone that doesn't fit that standard and like, only draw tank, Milo n Alexis as brownskin then that just kinda seems icky

And btw I'm not saying that it's bad to draw those three as poc (hell my tank is darkskin) but there's a difference between drawing a good chunk of the characters as brownskin/darkskin (obv including characters that don't fit/go against the racist stereotypes) and and those three just kinda end up being part of that group and then like all of your characters being crackers and only them being poc

I'm just saying it wouldn't kill you not to make all of your listener designs the same pretty faced preppy saltine sister and every male character the same dorito back webtoon guy but just with different hairstyles, clothing styles and maybe sometimes body types (but never even slightly chubby cuz god forbid)

And also, can we get some listeners that are male/masc?

This is something that I was kinda scared to talk about because like 90% of the fandom will draw like 90% of their listener ocs as women or very fem presenting and I definitely have quite a few listener designs that are very feminine or could be assumed women on first glances and again, the listener characters are gender neutral for a reason and they are at the end of the day supposed to be self inserts so the redacted fandom being majority fem/women it makes sense that they would make majorly fem/women listener ocs but like... If you're already making ocs would it kill you to make at least ONE of them masc/male? Like at least one you don't care about?

And I know saying that people should make more masc/male listener sounds kinda???? misogynistic???? But I'm not saying that because I think that male representation is a thing but because I think queer representation is a thing

I just think that maybe just maybe a little gay people wouldn't hurt??? Pretty please???with a cherry on top????

Just saying when naive little may 2022 me just finished watching freelancer and Gavin team tag Lasko (but not really because I'm literally a mineral and don't have the Patreon) and then went on social media just to see that the fandom was full of STRAGGOTS my jaw hit the submarine

And just, as we close off I know I'm not the ultimate master of diversity, my designs still fall under the pretty face fluffy hair m shaped bangs that definitely look too young for their age but I'm still working on making my character designs look distinct and diverse, and I will be actively working on it for like forever but I definitely won't lie to myself and say that I haven't improved from my dolphin smooth same face syndrome anime boy faze when I only ever wanted to put facial hair on a character when they were past the age of 27 but only put it on the jaw so they just ended up looking like Abraham Lincoln- so I know that I will get better at it eventually

I too look at more talented who are way better at making distinct designs and making designs for characters who don't have to rely on beauty standards to be absolutely gorgeous and feel bad, especially when basically the whole fandom simultaneously descides that a character is poc, a decision that I missed out on and then the fact that my design is seemingly the only one that is white makes me feel like those people that turn objects into people but just end up making them the same breed of sexy anime boy that nobody likes

So if you're insecure about your designs not being distinct enough the best advice I can give is to step out of your comfort zone and actively look for little details that might make a character unique and you'll get there

In conclusion, people who descide to be a conformist (/j) and draw Gavin with a human skin tone but then make him as pale as an uncooked chicken breast when he's specifically described as tan are kinda weird<3333

Any other trans friends i could use ur personal knowledge input. Ill also look this up though so don't worry im assuming like the definution of bi theres gonna be varied overlapping definitions

(So pre warning these first big paragraphs are preamble on what ive heard as far as more recent definitions, it can ALL be skipped down to my question. Basic summary is: DEI taught about gender identity, gender presentatuon, and sexuality spectrums and how they dont necesarily match the way stereotypes would expect as each Individual experiences those 3 spectrums their own way). Okay so the last time i got proper formal definitions taught was a Diversity Equity Inclusion training. Which was eons ahead of what my schools ever taught but it was still not all encompassing. Training included mentioning: sexuality is a spectrum, pansexuality and bisexuality are being able to feel attraction to multiple genders, heterosexuality and homosexuality are attraction to one gender, asexuality as an umbrella term for people who experience no sexual attraction or various levels different than the other sexualities, queer is an all encompassing umbrella term that lgbt people may use but a person outside the community should not use to refer to a person unless specifically asked to (and its also a label various academic texts use to describe lgbt elements discussed). Also the romantic attaction spectrum was mentioned, as like the sexuality spectrum but not necessarily matching it for any particular person (as in one can be bisexual and demiromantic, homoromantic and asexual, not just say bisexual and alloromantic). Training mentioned gender identity is a spectrum (and nonbinary is an umbrella term, as is genderqueer, for various identites that dont identify as men and women, agender includes people who do not identify with genders - basically gender is diverse as human experience, as with all other points).

Gender Presentation is a spectrum, and they do NOT have to match up (such as a butch woman, a feminine woman who goes by he him, a feminine man who uses he him, a masculine looking man who wears dresses basically in terms of clothing hair pronouns social activities any person can embody any kind of traits along the masculine to feminine spectrum - and may also align them differently as in a country woman may see "girls dont cry!" As a feminine associated expectation while an oldest son might also see "boys dont cry" as a masculine associate expectation to his own life experience, i could go on forever but basically clothes/hobbies do NOT equal gender identity. Pronouns do NOT necessarily equal gender identity). So like. The trainer my nonbinary coworker used examples like them using the pronouns they/he/she and prefering to dress more masculine but still using they/she/he and sometimes really enjoying dresses and still using they/she/he, of how some butch women may prefer he him or she her and theyre women If they simply identify as women, women who wear pants and no makeup and go by she her, men who love makeup and go by he him, some of my coworkers realized that day they prefered they/them (presentation) even if their gender identity was man or woman. Basically the point is Presentation is diverse. There is no one to one perfect list of traits to define what each gender identity "must be." Youre your gender identity because you are that gender, it feels right for you. You express and present yourself how you want, and that doesnt necessarily align with masc for men or fem for woman or androgynous for nonbinary, those are just the basic things strangers might assume. And the person labelling themselves understands more than you. (So in this case like gender nonconforming presentation would be a man who wears glam makeup or woman who never wears makeup, a nonbinary person who leans heavily into clothes that arent associated with androgyny, im not explaining well but i hope u are kinda getting my point).

Anyway my point was Gender Identity (im a guy a girl im nonbinary im agender), is not the same as Gender Presentation (the spectrum of human traits society vaguely interprets as masculine feminine and androgynous and where each individual lands in terms of presenting themselves such as clothing, hair, hobbies, social traits, etc)

Now my question Im really confused about:

Im nonbinary im bi. Im also a few other things and sometimes just saying im queer makes my life easier.

Im a bit confused about what transmasc and transfem as labels mean. Because i can only interpret the words on my current knowledge by guessing the masc and fem in the words Either relate to Gender Identity, or Gender Presentation. The words obviously are for trans people. But i have no idea at all where a trans butch woman falls in this scale, or a trans man who dresses very femininely, or nonbinary people like me who embrace masculinity and femininity a lot (and hey its okay if maybe nonbinary ppl like me just dont fit inside these terms).

Is the masc and fem in those labels referring to "man-spectrum" gender IDENTITY and "woman-spectrum" gender IDENTITY?

So this would mean maybe transfem: trans woman, any nonbinary or genderqueer person who relates slightly more to feeling the gender of woman, this would include trans butch women, and nonbinary people with beards etc who present visually very masculine but identify slightly more with women

Transmasc: trans man, nonbinary or genderqueer person who relates more slightly to the gender of man. This would include feminine trans men who wear dresses and makeup, include nonbinary people who Present visually very feminine but identify slightly more with men

OR is the masc and fem relating to gender PRESENTATION? Which would mean the terms include any trans person of any gender identity, who mainly presents masculine or mainly presents feminine

Transfem: trans women who are feminine presenting, trans men who are feminine presenting, nonbinary people who are more feminine presenting visually (feminine presenting as in clothing, hairstyles, hobbies etc that generally are interpreted by others as feminine)

Transmasc: trans men who are masculine presenting, trans women who are masculine presenting, nonbinary people who are more masculine presenting visually

Can you see where im getting confused? Depending on if masc and fem are refering to gender identity Or presentation, a trans butch woman is transmasc or transfem. So would a trans butch woman be transfem for transitioning to a woman physically, or transmasc for physically presenting masculinely and being trans. Would a nonbinary person who medically transitioned taking testosterone who wears dresses and makeup be a transmasc (for being a trans man) or transfem for being a trans person who presents feminine fashion choices. And im assuming the labels dont include nonbinary people that dont really lean one way or the other but like... if a nonbinary person is included in the terms is it based on the gender they more closely identify to on the spectrum (which for some of us is None, is multiple, is gender identities not within man or woman), or in the terms it is based on their visual presentation (which again! Nonbinary people can be androgynous, can embrace masculinity and femininity, can embrace one more than the other, can present our selves in ways meant to exclude those categorizations).

Tldr: is the masc and fem in transfem and transmasc refering to gender Identity or gender Presentation?

(And i suppose part of my confusion is like. Unfortunately in my social media experience over the last 10 years i saw the rise of "are you afab or amab" which screamed unpleasant unnecessary attempts to drag us back to "but what were u before transition" bullshit, and then recently in the "girl dinner" "boys are academia girls are shopping" and the lgbt community similar memes "lesbians are cottagecore gay men are clubbing" "transmen are so bob the builder transwomen are so my little pony" its giving Gender Expectations. Its giving: old school traditional limiting gender requirements on people if they want to conform to traditionalist norms. Its giving girls are stupid and soft abd emotional and boys are strong and smart and analytical - which isnt true by the way, you can be any traits regardless of gender identity you are. Ive been seeing a lot of "transmascs are army clips" "transfem are delicate jewelry" memes lately and its just like... aside from the fact im already sick of reinforcing gender stereotypes in a broad way. The memes are also confusing me because im like okay so is this implying trans men MUST be masculine, and transwomen MUST be feminine? Cause if its about gender identity, then that sure feels like thats the implication. I dont necessarily think the actual labels imply that necessarily, but i do think the memes of this nature just like ALL the widespread gender-stereotype memes imply some shit about expectations i do not like seeing reinforced as much as it goes around)

I'm curious as to the psychology of your kink. For someone so young, it seems like a pretty full on and specific kink. I am wondering firstly, what is the connect between fantasy and reality, if any, are you just engaging in fantasy purely for horny reasons? Does your fantasy and kink ever enter your reality and if so to what extent? Secondly, how did this kink begin for you - were you traumatised, did you simply explore the internet until stumbling across something that you explored further because of the sexual excitement it gave you, do you have mental illness or are you a fully functioning person? I think there's a lot to learn from you so please, the more detail and clarity, the better.

im pretty flattered that you seem to think im so interesting lolol

i dont know which kink youre specifically talking about though since a lot of my kinks can fall under this line of questioning. ill answer this for the three "worst" kinks i have: detrans/misgendering, cnc, and misogyny. if its not one of these three then lmk and ill answer again.

for detrans/misgendering, it really not that specific tbh. theres a lot of trans people who have a kink like this or similar to this. (forced) feminization is also very common, especially in masculine spaces. theres absolutely a psychological aspect to this, as well as a societal one. trans people are oppressed and often discriminated against in many ways, including being misgendered. this kink allows for a SAFE and CONSENTUAL space for someone to cope through their traumas in a healthy way.

theres also a VERY strict gender binary often forced on trans people by cis people, and sometimes others in our own community, that force a lot of us into a box. if you dont keep your hair short, wear boy clothing, like masc hobbies, and transition medically then youre not a real trans man. if you dont do makeup and wear dresses with long hair, tuck, get surgery or use padding for breasts, or act feminine then youre not a real trans woman. if youre too masc or fem or you dont fit into nonbinary stereotypes then you must be lying.

this kink is a very easy way to explore masculine and feminine sides to ourselves as trans people that we wouldnt be able to irl because of these harsh gender roles that we HAVE to adhere to otherwise no one takes us seriously (obviously trans people are valid NO MATTER HOW THEY PRESENT OR CHOOSE TO DO but this is a very common mindset we have to deal with).

i got into this kink bc my gender dysphoria is awful. its made me miserable for most of my life and it, alongside my adhd and possible autism, is why i struggle so much with depression and anxiety. im always worried about how ill be seen, if ill pass as male, and remembering my own body makes me sick. i started joking over half a year ago, saying "well i cant get dysphoric if i pavlov myself into getting horny everytime i get misgendered. haha checkmate t3rfs!!!" and then it became less of a joke.

i wrote stories of trans men exploring this kink in my writing and it really helped. im still dysphoric. i may joke about how this kink is the way to cure gender dysphoria but thats not how it actually works. i still have days where my body is unbearable and the thought of being feminized makes me want to hide away forever. but it genuinely did help to break out of those boxes i put myself in and play in a safe space with terms and mentalities regarding my gender.

in terms of fantasy and reality, this is purely fantasy for me. i have no desires to detransition, nor do i have any want to be misgendered outside of horny purposes. i am a man, i will always be a man, and thats not going to change just because tumblr user xyz called me babygirl. im almost a year on testosterone and im considering getting top surgery as we speak. this kink doesnt affect me on any other level than horny.

for cnc/noncon, this one is probably a bit more in depth. i dont have any specific trauma in this field. ive been touched inappropriately against my consent a handful of times (as in someone touched my chest or my hips) but nothing that spawned this kink.

however, there are studies that show that a LOT (as in over half) of afabs get fantasies regarding cnc and non consensual situations. this DOES NOT mean that they want to taken advantage of. for the most part, this kink derives from the idea of being wanted so badly by someone that they would take you no matter what. its also the idea of POWER PLAY, of being helpless and not having to make any sexual decisions.

theres also a lot of trauma involved and, as stated before, kink is a SAFE and HEALTHY place to cope with that trauma as long as safe words, aftercare, and proper communication is enforced. there are many people who like being in a cnc scene and knowing that, unlike their trauma, they now have CONTROL over the situation and can stop it whenever they want and have their wishes be RESPECTED. in this area, i am the wrong person to ask so i implore you to do more research on your own with this topic if youre truly curious.

for ME personally, i like noncon/cnc bc of that power dynamic. i am a submissive who could NEVER dom in any sense of the word. i like being completely submissive and i like having my dom take control and do anything and everything for me. i dont want to make decisions and i like being overpowered and taken care of. its just hot to be forced to do something, whether that be manhandled into the next room or be good.

this is a fantasy that ive had for years, even when i was a kid. i dont know WHY that is, but i do know that a lot of my friends who have childhood related trauma also had fantasies like that as a kid. i also discovered hardcore porn and noncon scenes when i was WAY too young to even know what sex was and im sure that exposure affected me in an unhealthy way too. again, id implore you to look for educational resources on the nature of forceful and violent fantasies, both sexual and not. its a fascinating subject and bdsm and kink psychology and etiquette has been a fixation of mine for years.

and it is just that, a fantasy. in real life, i am extremely sex repulsed and borderline identify as asexual because i dont want to do anything like that with anyone. im also, as mentioned before, extremely anxious and socially awkward so i dont like being near people at all. the idea of anyone hitting on me or not respecting my boundaries makes me feel ill, even if its hot while im horny.

for misogyny, ill keep it short bc its related to everything above. basically combine my reasoning for cnc and detrans and youd get my reason for this. its basically me, as a trans person, going from one extreme of being so masculine it was toxic and exploring the other extreme. its once again just me exploring a taboo subject in a safe and consensual space.

misogyny kink is rooted in strict female gender roles, as well as the forcefulness and disrespect you get from cnc. thats why its my favorite kink, it combines everything i like but specifically utilizes WHY i like those things. i discovered it when i made my first detrans/misgendering tumblr account and made a side account dedicated to it, and then when i made this account i just combined the two.

At the end of the day everything TERFS/Radfems say always ends up hurting cis women or as they put it "real women". And they sound like conservative men majority of the time too.

Reducing women down to their organs and ignoring infertile women interesting.

Looking at a trans woman who doesn't wear makeup and saying that "real" women wear makeup, insinuating that if you don't wear makeup you're not a woman which is funny because alot of them are anti-makeup.

Looking at trans women who prefer to dress more masculine and saying they aren't even trying while ignoring the fact that masculine cis women exist and studs/butches exist.

Calling cis black women and other cis women of color men or manly for not fitting into their little white/European beauty standard.

Saying they support J.K Rowling a woman who hates Jewish people while actively ignoring the fact that Jewish women are affected by her anti-semitism.

Because of the dumb shit they say is why I consider myself to be an intersectional feminist. Because when you think you're just hurting one group in reality you're hurting alot more others.

One of the reasons I’m constantly questioning my gender is that I know, inside, that I’m a boy, I use he/him pronouns, etc., but I present, and enjoy presenting very feminine most days. I wear dresses, skirts, other outfits that men don’t typically wear. And what I’ve realized, is that doesn’t make me any less of a guy. Fuck gender roles and stereotypes. Gender nonconformity isn’t just for cis people, like I always used to associate it with. I’m a gender nonconforming trans boy. and that’s ok. Presenting and being fem, not just because I’m closeted (obviously that’s super valid /gen), but also because I am, doesn’t make me less of a boy. I don’t have to be super masc just because I’m a trans guy.

Of course, this applies to more than just trans guys. Trans girls don’t have to be super feminine, Nonbinary/Genderqueer/Agender/etc. people don’t have to be androgynous. The way you dress and present and what pronouns you use are separate from your gender. They might relate to each other, but they also might not, and both are ok.

I am so sorry if this may sound ignorant (I have been doing online school for about 3 years now and havent really been around many people my age for a while so I don't know if this plays into my question or not)

I have 2 questions

1. I use the pronouns she/her (it's just what I have always been comfortable with) but I prefer to were more masc or boy stereotypical clothing I guess you could say. Now I do like girl clothes but not as much. I think im just confused if it's a body thing or a gender thing because I like masc clothes so much since they just fit my body better I definitely feel more comfortable in them, but I also like to wear fem presenting clothes as well that may be more form fitting. And you know sometimes I want to put on a suit and strut around in it and sometimes I want to put on a dress it just depends.

2. I am very confused about my sexuality lol. I don't think I realized people could even be more than what society had already deemed as normal and around the age I would have probably began to explore my sexuality covid hit and everything went online. (For reference I am about to turn 16 and would have been 13 when the pandemic hit) I feel the same when I see an attractive female as I would an attractive male (this goes for anyone really if I find them attractive I can feel attraction to them, whether it's a platonic, romantic, or sexual attraction genuinely don't know) I also am fine reading sex scenes but whenever people talk about it in person or if I watch it on tv that's when I get uncomfy and I genuinely can't see myself having sex with someone (idk if that will change or not) but im fine with seeing myself being in a relationship and cuddling expressing my love for a person and sometimes kissing (it depends)

I am so sorry that this was sooo long and all over the place my brain is all messy when I don't plan things out before I write or say anything, and you don't have to answer of course this was just me ranting about how I have no clear thoughts as to who I am yet and it feels good to get it off my chest lt even if you don't answer or even see this.

Preferring or liking masculine clothing doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re transgender. Like obviously it’s a possibility but it’s not like, oh I like pants instead of skirts that means I’m a guy!! You could be trans or you could just be a girl who likes different types of clothing.

My advice is like, don’t sweat it too much, and just do what makes you happy. If you like masculine clothing, fucking go for it!!! I’m sure you’ll slay 100%!! If you wanna wear form fitting stuff, go for that too!! Just. Do what makes you feel like yourself, and do what makes you feel happy, don’t worry about labels and am-i-trans-am-i-cis and all that, kay? Just Vibe!!!!!!

I’d suggest you consider mspec labels, which means attraction to multiple genders, labels like bisexual and pansexual, or just plain old bi and pan might be good for you!!

You can look into the asexual spectrum, which is basically all sexualities that aren’t like 100% allosexual (allosexual means like. most of the population and how they experience sexual attraction.)

Yes, attraction can be confusing. And yes, it’s possible the stuff you feel might change. Maybe you’ll feel sexual attraction someday, or maybe you never will!!

But go with what you like *now.* If bi feels good, go for bi! If asexual feels good, go for it. If you wanna change it later, that’s okay!!

I’m gonna give you my standard new shoe advice—yknow when you have rlly shitty old shoes but you’re used to them, and when you get new shoes you’re like wtf these are really weird, but then you eventually realise they’re much more comfy and you were just used to the shitty old ones?

New labels can be kind of like that. So like, if u try a label and it feels Weird, ask yourself if the weird is a “this is the wrong shoe size” weird or a “i need to break this shoe in” weird.
