I made a couple of flow charts for the ace and aro spectrums! Not meant to be taken 100% factual- you know yourself better than a basic flowchart. They’re mainly just for fun, though they can also be a good start for anyone questioning!

Asexuality spectrum labels are magnets, not stickers. They’re tools. If you don’t know what is right for you, or you’re not totally sure where you fit, that’s okay. One of the best things about labels is that you get to be as vague or as specific as you need to be.

So I thought of a way to explain most sexualities I think. Let's say that each type of bread (bagels, challah, baguette, etc) is a gender, butter is sexual attraction, and jam is romantic attraction.

Each person eats some types of bread and doesn't like other types of bread. Some people like all types of bread but prefer some types (omni). Some people like all types of bread equally and don't care which one you give them, judging each slice individually (pan). Some people like a couple types of bread. Some people only like one type of bread. Some people are allergic to gluten.

Even though most people put jam and butter on all types of bread they eat, sometimes there's a type of bread you only want to eat with butter because it just tastes better with only butter, and sometimes you want to eat a type of bread with only jam. And there's people who only like jam and there's people who only like butter, and there's people that don't like either.

Sometimes someone will like butter or jam, but prefer to get used to the taste of the bread alone before putting anything on it (demi). Some people are only sometimes in the mood for jam or butter, or have no particularly strong craving for it (grey). Some people almost never like jam or butter but will suddenly get a craving for it (aro/ace spike).

There are people who don't like butter or jam, but if you give them some bread with it, they won't complain. Maybe out of politeness, maybe they don't care that much because it just doesn't have any flavor to them. There's people who, if they eat something with butter or jam, they will throw up because they're allergic to it.

And then there's people who eat bread with Nutella (qprs).

Please keep in mind, this month did include an outlier, with A-Spec being voted on over 4,000 times more than the second highest most voted poll, Polyamorous with 522 entries. WILD, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN /gen!!! I am amazed.

I know I haven't posted in a while but today marks the start of ace week 2022 (depending on timezones, so maybe not yet for you) and I am unfortunately not able to come out to my family. Despite that, I would love to come out to you

for anyone who is unaware of what aegosexuality is, i stole a little definition off the sexuality wiki for ya:

"It is a subset of asexuality defined as: a disconnect between oneself and a sexual target/object of arousal; may involve sexual fantasies or arousal in response to erotica or pornography, but lacks desire to be an actual participant in the sexual activities therein."

to all the other people on the ace spec out there, go forth and celebrate. even if you can't tell everyone or anyone just yet, go treat yourself, you deserve it. you are one hundred percent valid and loved no matter what your micro label is, if you don't have one, if you're also on the aro spec, if you're still figuring things out, if you don't have a label but know these kinds of things apply to you and anybody else in any circumstance. happy ace week <3
