Here’s some positivity for those on the caed- romantic, sexual, or gender spectrum!

The caed- prefix refers to one’s identity (romantic, sexual, gender, or something else) which has been damaged, stripped, or cut away due to past trauma. These folks may have identified with other genders, sexualities, or romantic orientations before going through a traumatic event, but due to trauma their identities have been compromised or changed in major ways. This post is for all those who are on the caed- spectrum, regardless of how that manifests for them!

🌲 Shoutout to those whose genders, sexualities, and romantic orientations feel lost, empty, lifeless, or numb!

🌤 Shoutout to systems whose caed- identities have caused them to feel or identify as queer or become part of the queer community!

🌈 Shoutout to traumagenic systems whose trauma histories influenced both their system formation and their caed- identities!

🌲 Shoutout to individual headmates who are caedsexual, caedromantic, or caedgender even if the rest of their system isn’t!

🌤 Shoutout to systems who used to have rich, fulfilling, and intricate relationships with their gender, sexuality, or romantic orientation, but don’t anymore due to trauma!

Remember that the spectrums of gender, sexuality, and romantic orientation are vast, and each individual label serves an important purpose for those who identify with them! For those who find themselves identifying with a caed- label, we truly hope that you can find peace, healing, comfort, and recovery in your future!

Know that we really are wishing you the very best. If you are taking steps to recover from your trauma, we wish you a smooth process that is as painless as it can be. Does something like the opposite of Caedsexual exist? Like someone previously ace becoming allo/demi/gray/a different orientation on the Allo/ace spectrum? Or is that part of Abrosexuality?

Caedsexual is describing the flavor of ace being caused by trauma, not from a change in sexuality (abrosexual is relatively frequent changes, aceflux is the asexual spectrum-contained equivalent). It's a description of the result more than the process.

Abrosexuality is regular/frequent changes in sexuality ranging all over the place (aceflux is the asexual spectrim-confined equivalent of it) but it can include being asexual sometimes. It's like the sexual attraction equivalent of genderfluid?

The only thing I can think of that would be the opposite of caedsexual would be hypersexual, but that's a description of behavior and libido, not attraction. It's also important to note that hypersexual asexuals 100% exist.

To be entirely honest, I don't know if it's possible to be traumatized into finding people sexually attractive, and I can't find anything of the sort, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. The brain is...interesting, to say the least.

Changes in sexuality can happen to anyone. If you were previously ace but not anymore and are regularly experiencing sexual attraction without knowing the person well first, then it sounds like you'd probably be allo/whatever term you best identify with now.

Caedsexual vs Asexual and why they aren’t interchangeable

@booksandteaonarainydayislife, you had asked “In real life, is it not possible for people to be ace due to trauma? Like, would someone who experienced a traumatic event that made it impossible for them to feel sexual attraction not be considered ace?”

This isn’t a clear yes and no answer, which is why I had to make a new post about it. Also, I would like to say that I had been recently education on this new term I am going to explain from the replies from this post (x), I am no way an expert on this, someone asked for my opinion, and here it is, so if anyone who is more experienced/has this sexuality wants to add on, please do so kindly.

I learned that there is a term called “Caedsexual”, which is described as “ is a micro label on the asexual spectrum which describes an individual who identified as allosexual—or not a part of the asexual spectrum—at one point in their lives, but are now on the asexual spectrum due to past trauma. This label should only be used by those who are survivors of these past experience.” I am not sure how recent this term is, but as there is a term for it, people should start using this if this is what they mean when they headcanon a character as “asexual”, when really they mean caedsexual.

Caedsexual is part of the ace spectrum, but it would still be considered incorrect to refer to someone who identifies as this as simply asexual, in my opinion, because not every asexual person is such because of trauma. For example, I am demisexual, I would say I am on the ace-spectrum, but I am not asexual. As I had talked in the post I linked above, the problem with identifying certain characters as asexual and say that it’s due to trauma is because so often, having experienced it myself, is that have a hard time believing those on the ace-spectrum that we are this way not because of trauma. Many people who are on the ace-spectrum suffer prejudice because people will assume that they are ace because of trauma and will try to convince the aces that they need therapy, that maybe they just need to find the right person and they’ll no longer be ace. Some allo-sexual people feel that somehow there ace-spectrum people are “broken” and need “fixing”, which is not true, but when you get people who misidentify certain characters or people as asexual because of trauma and it fuels the myth that we somehow need to be fixed in order to be “proper humans”, because the notion that sex/romance are not necessary for a happy life is crazy to them. Some people are ace the same way some people are gay, they just are, and people should respect that.

So, if you want to say that Kaz and/or Inej, or any other character in fact, identify as being caedsexual because of trauma, that would be correct, but saying that a character is asexual because of trauma is incorrect and helps to fuel the harmful notion that everyone who falls under the ace-spectrum is there because of trauma. They are not interchangeable and I don’t think people should say someone is asexual when they mean caedsexual. I hope that makes sense, and like I said, I am not a huge expert on caedseuxality, but this is from the observations and thoughts on this whole thing.

Laesumian is a term on the asexual spectrum, and a form of caedsexual. For someone who feels their sexual attraction is 'damaged' due to past trauma, said person may still feel sexual attraction to some extent, or not at all, but if so it usually feels off. This does not imply survivors are damaged in any way, just some may feel that has happened to their attraction.
