Here’s some positivity for proxy systems!

According to Pluralpedia, proxy systems are “where one functions as a singlet (or approximately close to one, such as a median system) due to a frontstuck host, yet all members of the system are completely distinct in the headspace.” Many systems may find that they function in this way! This post is for all the proxy systems out there!

Proxy systems have always been and will always be valued, cherished, and integral members of the plural community! To any proxy system who reads this, please know that your system is real and you are valid, regardless of how you experience plurality or the ways in which your system functions! It’s okay if most of your system members interact with the world through your system’s host. That doesn’t negate the validity of your system in any way, shape, or form!

you know,, i wish plural awareness wasn't confined to small corners of the internet. and i wish that it included everyone. i wish that there were more in-person plural meets or groups. i wish that there was more of systems coming out to singlets offline. i wish that we could wear front indicators or nametags, plural pride attire, clothes that fit our selves. i wish that we could put stickers or posters or zines about systemhood out in public. i wish that we could find each other in the wild and feel less alone. there IS some of it out there, and it makes me so so happy to know that it's achievable, but plural spaces are predominantly online, and i just wish we could be louder offline too. it's definitely scary and not feasible for some, i'm not saying to risk your safety. i just hope more of us can be proud out in-person.

telling singlet friends about your DID who didn't know about it when you met is so weird to explain. like.

"right, so, you know me as Cameron. I went by that name for years, and everyone in the system goes by Cameron, but technically, I'm not Cameron at all and Cameron doesn't actually exist. Cameron was the previous host, who later changed his name to Juno. also I'm Phoenix, a fusion of the previous host and someone else, so I'm partly Cameron, but not really".

i’m not a “DID system,” i’m a system. and, we also have DID.

my plural identity is more than a disorder. just because a disorder may influence it doesn’t mean they’re synonymous.

I love being plural! I love my headmates, i love their identities and their hobbies and seeing them fulfilled alongside me. I love the fluidity of change and not feeling pressured into a singular Self. I love myself and myselves and those of us that aren't me and those of us that are sort of but not really. I love being able to relax and sit back while someone else controls the body. I love the feeling of working together with different strengths! I love seeing other members' hobbies and skills develop, as well as their lives and selves grow and change. I love my system I love being plural and nobody will ever take that away from us

Here's some positivity for headmates who don't want to be seen/interacted with!

It isn't always the case where headmates want to meet absolutely everyone in their system, or people in the outerworld. We've personally had experiences where loved ones have gotten offended someone didn't want to front for them, so I just want to take some time to tell you: it's ok to just exist by yourself! You don't owe anyone anything, love. ❤️

With that out of the way, shoutout to:

System members who are misanthropic, socially awkward, aloof, or otherwise just not as extroverted as their brainmates

Alters who don't front due to trauma, anxiety, being a symptomholder, etc.

Headmates who only front for specific circumstances/people

People in systems who never front at all

The ones who want to front, but can't for whatever reason

Headmates who spend the majority of their time with innerworld duties, so they can't front even if they wanted to (we have several headmates like this!)

Those with OSDD-1A, P-DID, or another condition that makes them a non-switching system

Etc.

For us? Our system is quite literally too large for everyone to get an equal amount of fronting time. 24 hours divided into over 100 people is just not feasible for any of us.

The point is, you're not the only one that has these things going on, and we're here to support you& and the plural community as a whole, always!
