least shocking introject-heavy experience

this is embarrassing now why in our system of eight alters do we have to have three undertale-related introjects ...??

something that i wish was talked about more in system communities is how hard it is to have alters that feel distinctly different from others in ways that are hard to conceptualize.

i see a lot of systems where their headmates come out with a name, age, gender, the whole works. for us, most of our newer parts never have a name, age, gender. at least not without intense thinking about it, and even then gatekeeper will usually pull us from front if we think about it too much.

take me, for example. our therapist notes me as CAV and i’ve called myself productive!cav a lot, but i dont have a name thats my own. finding a name thats mine is hard. its tiring. i had to talk to our girlfriend to find out that im possibly aromantic and use they/them pronouns. i cant do that sort of searching on my own, and finding a name is an entirely personal experience that i can’t get outside opinion for. at least not in a way that will point me in a direction that feels right.

so, this is for all the systems who struggle to personally identify all their headmates and for all the headmates that know theyre different but struggle to verbalize it. i see you. you arent alone.

Question for systems: we recently met a baby (newly discovered) system who is going through a dilemma. Their gatekeeper also happens to be a persecutor, and they are acting very hostile towards their host. They are not letting anyone other than their host front, worsen their (host's) breakdowns, scare them (host), and make them (host) spiral. They have never fronted before, and, according to that system, they may be an introject of that system's trauma source, since they (gatekeeper) seem to have a vendetta against their current and previous host.

So asking all of you: what would you do or suggest in this situation?

seeing people my age talk about how scared they are of memory loss, which they only associate with old age, is so surreal to see as a 24 year old who has actively experienced memory loss for a long time now

there are causes for memory loss besides dementia and alzheimer’s, i hope y’all know that. dissociative disorders, trauma, brain injuries, thyroid problems, even just stress and lack of sleep can fuck up your ability to store, process, and access memory. and that’s just a few of the many causes i can think of off the top of my head right now.

please stop treating disabled people like some scary “other” that you might become only in the distant, decades-away future. we are your age, too. you may become one of us sooner than you know. stop acting like memory loss marks the end of a life, when so many of us have so much living left to do!
