Monster!Tim Coraline au part 3
I had more thoughts on the au from here and here.
First off, It's called Hungry Monster Tim au unless and until I come up with a better name.
That's the tag that will help you find related content. I titled the post the way I did so that people who found the au before it had a name could recognize it. I'm hoping this will minimize confusion.
...
Now, I figure I'll talk a bit about how others view Tim.
The most of the earlier additions to the Batfam have mostly interacted with Tim in Emotional Support Tim mode.
Emotional Support Tim is pleasant and comforting. He is not overly exuberant and joyful in a way that would grate on fresh grief. He is also not joyless in a way that might make a hero feel obligated to worry about him. He is gentle and competent. His patience seems nearly endless. He can tolerate both being coddled and being leaned on. He can tolerate both being clung to and pushed away. He can tolerate switching back and forth at unpredictable intervals.
Tim approached Nightwing in his standard state of "tired, low on patience, and possibly about to do something stupid," once before Tim realized he was also grief-stricken and in no fit state to get Batman under control. He might have an inkling that Emotional Support Tim is an act, or he might just think Tim was having a bad day.
Bruce thinks Emotional Support Tim is what Tim is actually like. By the time Bruce was functional enough to not need so much managing, he'd gotten attached enough to the facade for Tim to have concerns about dropping it.
Alfred can tell that Tim is putting on a facade. He can tell that the role Tim has taken on is wearing on him. He doesn't like it. He feels guilty for allowing it to continue. He can't bring himself to put a stop to it when it's keeping his adoptive son alive.
Barbara initially meets Emotional Support Tim, immediately clocks the act, and pulls him aside to make sure there isn't something sinister afoot. Babs has reservations about every aspect of Tim's involvement, but agrees that something had to be done about Bruce. She lets him carry on for now, but she's ready to pull the plug if it seems like it's getting too much for him. She insists that Tim drop the act when it's just the two of them.
Babs doesn't know about the supernatural stuff specifically, but she knows there's more going on with Tim than what she knows about. She may learn that he has some hereditary health stuff that requires him to be extra careful about his food intake. She makes a point to not be weird about it because people being weird about her wheelchair annoys the crap out of her.
I like to imagine that Babs and Tim have a certain amount of solidarity over being the sensible ones who keep all these unhinged, dramatic bitches in line. They also have solidarity over ignoring the fact that they are just as dramatic and unhinged as the rest of the Bats.
Steph meets Tim in Regular Tim mode because Bruce isn't with him. Instead of trying to discourage Spoiler, he introduces her to Babs. Steph knows Tim as a tired smartass who kind of always seems like he's a bit hangry and trying not to take it out on anyone, but apparently he's just like that.
They don't date, but do become friends. Part of this is because grouchy, eternally hungry, constantly done-with-this-shit Tim isn't attractive to Steph but is kind of hilarious. Part of it is because Babs points out that there is no possible timeline where the kind of power imbalance from only one member of a couple knowing the other's secret identity doesn't turn toxic.
When Steph eventually encounters Emotional Support Tim, it creeps her out. She uses the term "pod person" when asking what the heck that was.
Steph's disastrous stint as Robin doesn't happen because she's already got her own thing going. She already has a mentor and appropriate protective gear. Babs and Steph actually get along better because they start their mentorship as Oracle and Spoiler without any of the complicated emotions of taking up a mantle.
I like Steph as Spoiler the best because it always seemed a little messed up to shove someone who already had their own original Identity into two legacy mantles. Let her do her own thing. She doesn't need to be a successor to Babs or Dick when she's already the OG Steph. Instead of giving her the Robin gear or the Batgirl gear, get her some upgraded, Bat-quality Spoiler gear.
Steph doesn't start a gang war or fake her death in this timeline, because the circumstances that caused it do not exist here.
Jason initially encounters Tim in Feral Cryptid mode, then writes that off as a fever dream after waking up to Emotional Support Tim. Once free of the Lazarus parasite, Jason makes it his mission to be a good big brother to Tim. Tim seemed a little stand-offish at first, but warmed up to him. (As soon as Tim realized that food was part of Jason's love language, he rearranged his meal plan to let Jason feed him without triggering supernatural problems with his metabolism.)
Jason eventually manages to earn Tim's trust enough to meet and get to know Regular Tim. Jason is both honored and concerned. Putting on such an extensive facade for the comfort of others has got to be exhausting, and Tim seems so worn down underneath it. Well, he doesn't have to do it for Jason anymore. Jason will happily hang out with and support any version of Tim.
When Damian shows up, he mostly sees Emotional Support Tim. Then he starts trying to kill him. Eventually, Tim's patience with the pint-sized murderer wears thin (possibly due to Damian hitting a PTSD trigger), and Tim goes Feral Cryptid mode. This freaks Damian out. There is no video evidence (which the rest of the Bats assume to be because Damian tampered with the security system in an attempt to get away with murder).
It doesn't happen again.
Tim doesn't bust out his powers or cryptid form against Damian again, but now that he's seen it, Damian sometimes sees traces of Feral Cryptid Tim lurking below the surface. Various little things he'd ignored that hadn't seemed significant on their own now seem to stem from the nature of what lurks inside the human skin.
Damian stops the murder attempts early. It's not because of ethics (which will take time to learn). It’s because he has no idea how to kill whatever sort of unearthly thing Tim is, and he recognizes how unwise it would be to continue attacking something he cannot kill. For now, Tim seems content to leave him be whenever he's not directly under assault. Damian doesn't want to risk becoming enough of a pest to be worth the effort of swatting.
...
I also had thoughts about Tim's post-Robin period.
When Tim goes on his quest to retrieve Bruce from the time stream, he doesn't take the Red Robin suit. He's going to be outside of the Bats' scrutiny, so he gears up with a suit and equipment he'd secretly made with his supernatural nature in mind. It's got Bat-standard armor and padding, but modified to accommodate a bit of form shifting without compromising protection. It's got a patchwork thing going on.
Tim sewed it himself, which allows him to manipulate it. It's also got buttons sewn in strategic locations to eliminate blindspots. (Taking down the beldam gave him the ability to control things he made and see through buttons he sewed).
His utility pouches are full of both Bat-standard equipment and things relevant to Tim's abilities. Also, he makes his pockets bigger on the inside, so he can carry a lot.
Tim isn't around the other Bats, so he's not being Emotional Support Tim. He's not using the minor illusion powers he got from the beldam to make himself look pleasant. He only makes the effort to be comforting when dealing with victims. He's just being the semi-feral scrungly dude he is.
...
Tim keeps in touch with Jason, Babs, and Steph while he's off on his quest to find Bruce. He occasionally pitches in with stuff that can be done from a distance.
Tim didn't say that Bruce was still alive before he had evidence. It's not because this version managed to predict that they wouldn't believe him, but rather because he thought he might have to do some supernatural stuff to get him back and didn't want witnesses. He just told the other Bats he needed to investigate something and would tell them more once he had figured out enough to know what to tell them.
This means that the other heroes don't think he's crazy, and Tim can use hero resources for his investigation.
I haven't decided yet if Tim will interact with the League of Assassins at all. On the one hand, I think this Tim might not need to work with them. On the other hand, Hungry Monster Tim terrorizing the League of Assassins and fighting the Lazarus Pit would be funny. Maybe Ras doesn't try to recruit him. Maybe Tim just shows up, fights the Lazarus Pit, and leaves without explaining anything to anyone.
Either way, I think that Tim is pretty much done with keeping up the Emotional Support Tim facade by the time he comes home after saving Bruce. It's been long enough to justify the change.
Babs, Jason, and Steph are happy for Tim because they can see how much better he's doing without the added strain of keeping up the act. They are also glad that he feels comfortable enough to just be himself.
Bruce and Dick are more in the horrified/concerned neighborhood because, from their perspective, Tim started off gentle-natured and glowing with health, got fired from Robin, disappeared for a while, and came back gaunt and world-weary.
...
I'm thinking about whether or not Tim should tell Babs, Jason, and Steph about the supernatural stuff he's got going on.
It would have come out at some point. If he tries to keep it secret forever, you can bet some kind of dramatic, high-stakes threat would force the reveal. That's just how the Bats' lives are.
What I am debating with myself is whether or not to have Tim choose to share a secret he's been keeping for as long as he can remember for fear of the danger discovery might bring with the people he trusts most without something forcing his hand.
If he does, I think he would tell Jason first. Jason has seen that side of him, and Tim allowed him to think it was a nightmare. Tim wouldn't want to risk Jason hearing about it from someone else. Tim would probably be scared. He doesn't know if Jason will still like him once he knows that Tim really is the Monster from his nightmare. He doesn't know if Jason will forgive him for lying about it.
I think this would happen after Tim comes back to Gotham after saving Bruce.

Vampire!Tim and the Joker
I wanted to expand on the more limited breakouts from Arkham when Tim patrols alone, specifically regarding the Joker. I was asked if the Joker is scared of Tim just like many other villains and while I could just say " yes", I don't think that would bring justice to either characters. Tim is a feral little shit in this AU idea of mine, but he is still calculating and is not afraid to manipulate people for his own means. And the Joker while human and could be scared, in my opinion emotions come vastly different to him and by no means would he actually be afraid of a child. Even if it's a supernatural one. He might just find his enjoyment in it.
So, no, the Joker does not necessarily fear Tim. The Joker was interested and kidnapped a young boy to taunt Batman, fully ready to torture the man through transforming and inevitably kill another boy he came to care for. He did hear of the whispers in the alleyways of the night about the Robin who at times hardly seemed like a hero. At first the Joker just wanted to watch, but then Tim hurt goons of him and while he never cared for the mindless followers, it was a hit against his ego he couldn't let go. A hurt pride and a fair bit of insanity made him decide to take the birdie away and start a little play with him.
The Joker wished to coax that villain out of the child until he would stop trying to put up a front. He wanted Batman to finally open his eyes and BREAK.
Tim is trapped for days with no access to blood and gets tortured by the Joker. The man disgraces Jason with his words when Tim after days of electric shocks and Joker Venom loses his control and breaks free.
He brutally beats the Joker to the ground, pinning him there when a bunch of goons sprint inside the warehouse. His lips curl back into a snarl as he whips his head around. At the sight of his vicious grimace their hearts thrum loudly inside their chests, enough to catch the attention of Tim. Starved for days his fangs elongate and his eyes can only focus on them. If they thought he was a beast already, it was nothing in comparison when Tim crushes the Jokers ankle under his wrist and jumps away from the man. He is so hungry. Tim is put in a mindless haze similarly to a creature who fights to survive. All that is on his mind is to survive no matter the cost. He sprints across, evading the bullets that one fires and launches himself at said target. The man screams in fright as Tim's limbs tightly wrap around the larger frame, but his voice soon gives out when his teeth plunge into the vulnerable neck.
Tim is too hungry to do his usual neat drinking, instead he tears open the man's jugular and lapses from the wound. He is uncaring as the man gasps for breath and collapses under the weight of Tim. Only when the heart stills, does Tim tear his face away from the corpse looking around and wiping across his mouth. Blood smears all across his face as more trickles down his neck. Already his eyes have regained some of it's colour.
"M-monster!" One screams, stumbling back over his own feet.
Licking the blood from his lips Tim stands up, disregarding the corpse at his feet and slowly creeps forward to the remaining two. His hunger has been satiated, yet this is not part of his plans. They are not needed and they saw too much. His system isn't in place yet. As such they need to be wiped off from the face of earth. Sighing, as if they are such a nuisance, Tim springs back into action. They stand no chance as he attacks them with a speed they don't expect and they bleed out.
Finally having taken care of the unnecessary people, Tim turns and watches the Joker who crawled across the ground while Tim drank from the man's goons. It seems as if he didn't even care enough to watch. Tim does not know if he should be glad about that. With strength returned to his body he strides towards the man and stabs a knife into the Jokers unbruised ankle to stop him from moving. A grunt of pain escapes his lips. Tim flips his body to face him, presses the hands together over his head and pulling out another knife from the man's jacket stabs it through the limbs. At last he leans down, close enough to make the villain uncomfortable with the lack of personal space and sniffs. Tim scrunches his nose in disgust when he smells the blood. The life source that he should always find alluring, reeks of chemicals that diluted the blood into a black mass and makes him audible gag.
"Clown, time to make a deal."
His voice is shaky and rough from the constant torment the last few days, an effect that will haunt him forever no matter the passing years. Nevertheless he remains steady, looking down at the unshaken clown that grins up at him.
They both know that while this Robin does not shy away from a bloodbath, this vengeance will not bring back what once was last already. Even when Tim's own blood sings for the death of the villain, this is not his revenge. Not his life to take. An oath lies over the clown that restricts Tim from killing the man even when he is at his mercy now. And while it disgusts him, Tim can still use the man to his liking until he wishes to die.
If he were to wish, to beg him for death, the oath of vengeance sealed by the blood of Jason evaporates and Tim can rightfully do as he wishes.
Tim wished for the longest time that the Joker would have begged him for death that night. He did none. A deal was struck between them and sealed in blood. None that the villain can ever break without severe consequences.
That night Batman came to safe his Robin, late, and found a close to death Joker and a traumatised boy standing with a gun over the man. It was blamed on the Joker Venom. For the longest time Bruce wanted to be rid of Tim as he was deemed unstable and while that is true, it was never because of the Joker Venom.
They deemed it a miracle that Tim never suffered at the hands of the clown again, only the two knowing better.

A couple Ezra (Prosepct) Prompts! (Feat. Max Phillips)! Please tag me if you’re inspired by either of these ideas and I’d love to read it!👨‍🚀🩸❤️
1. Prospect and Bloodsucking Bastards Crossover AU: As a vampire, you've always needed to ask for permission to enter a house. Ever since being ejected into space, you've been looking for a way back to civilization the only way you know how: Knocking on the doors of passing spaceships and asking them to let you in. All you want is to return to your brother, Max Phillips, but nobody has permitted you to board their ship. It’s a Dog Eat Dog world and everyone is constantly on edge, distrusting of everyone they meet. You’re getting so hungry and desperate. Stray humans or strange creatures cross your path here and there while trying to mine for some gem. You feed on them and try to keep them alive as long as possible as your personal blood bags, but it’s still not enough. Man or monster, they all die quickly in this atmosphere. You can’t make them last in The Green. Dammit. You’ve been forced to feed on weird space wildlife. The taste varies from bearable to chokingly disgusting, but it won’t kill you. It’s rare when you have something actually good to eat.
You’re not sure how long you’ve been stranded in The Green when you meet Ezra. When he sees you don’t have a helmet, space suit, or any gear, he’s high on alert and points his gun at you. As if that’d do anything. How are you breathing and talking to him? What the hell are you, an alien? You’re obviously not human but you look at him with eyes like a wounded animal, worn down and exhausted from starving here for god knows how long. You’re too tired to say much beyond telling him you’re a vampire, but you’re silently pleading for his help. Still on guard, he makes a deal with you: He’ll supply you with blood (either his own or others’) and in exchange, you’ll work together to mine these prospect sites, get as many gems as you can carry, then get off the Green. His ship is busted and out of commission, so once you find a working ship and escape, he’ll punch in the coordinates to put you en route to Earth (or wherever the hell your brother is) so you can get home and be reunited with Max. Once he drops you off, he’ll leave you and go on his way.
But Ezra later sustains a wound that becomes infected by the poisonous spores in the atmospheres, so you approach a group of human villagers to trade for medical treatment. The villagers don’t cooperate, so you use your vampire powers to subdue them while you feed from them. You use some of Ezra’s equipment to bleed them dry then package their blood in portable bags so you can save it for later. It’s makeshift, but it’ll have to do. Now that you have the tools to save it, you won’t let one drop of blood go to waste. You may need it in case of emergency. You and Ezra then steal their medical equipment and gems before fleeing. Despite treating it with the stolen supplies, his wound worsens. He adamantly refuses when you offer to turn him into a vampire to heal his wound. He’d rather lose his arm than lose his humanity, so you respect his wishes and help him amputate.
You set out once more and arrive at a mercenary camp surrounding the Queen's Lair. After negotiating passage on the mercenaries' ship, you and Ezra attempt to fulfill your end of the contract and extract gems from the Queen’s Lair. You and Ezra fail several extraction attempts, and as the mercenary guard turns to report your failure, Ezra attacks and kills him. The commotion attracts the rest of the mercenaries, and a fight ensues. You use your vampire strength and speed to subdue several mercenaries and knock them out, but Ezra is gravely wounded during the fight. You drag Ezra and the mercenaries’ unconscious bodies onto their ship. You tend to Ezra's wound while you escape into orbit, but you warn Ezra that it doesn’t look good and he probably won’t make it through the voyage if you don’t do something. You ask him one last time if he wants you to bite him and turn him into a vampire. Weakened and in excruciating pain, Ezra accepts your offer this time. He worked too hard to get here and he still has so much to do. He refuses to meet his maker now, not after all he’s been through to survive. He’d rather lose his humanity than face a permanent death. Unbeknownst to you, he may have fallen in love with you over the course of your journey and just hasn’t had the chance to tell you yet.
You bite him. Ezra starts convulsing and retching, your vampire kiss infecting his bloodstreams and stopping his heart. While he transforms, you get to work bleeding the mercenaries dry. Ezra will need to feed when his transformation is complete, so you’ll need as many blood bags as you can fill. You’ll throw their drained corpses out of the airlock later. It won’t exactly be the perfect family reunion with Max that you’d hoped for, but you hope he’ll still be ecstatic to see you and welcome you home. You hope he missed you just has much as you’ve missed him. Whether Max grows to like Ezra and becomes friends with him or not, he’ll need to play nice and get along with him. You won’t tolerate any of his usual asshole behavior, especially if he tries to make quips about Ezra’s missing arm. Ezra is your mate, after all. Even if he himself doesn’t know it yet.
2. You’re like Ellie from The Last of Us, immune to The Green/planet atmospheres. You don’t have to wear a helmet, space suit, or any of this heavy breathing equipment like all other humans do. Ezra comes across you and is immediately on high alert, pointing his weapon at you as he interrogates you. How are you breathing and talking to him? Where’s all your gear? Who and what the fuck are you? Maybe you’re not human, but an alien of some kind that uses a translator device so that his English gets translated into your alien language and vice versa so you can understand each other. Either you’re a unique human like Ellie, a humanoid alien similar to a Yautja, or a full on monster-esque alien that’s an unknown creature with no distinct human-like features. If you don’t have a name or it can’t be translated, he may give you a new name or nickname. It’s all up to you. But either way Ezra falls in love with you, regardless of your gender or potential differences between your species.

Batfam On A Road Trip HC
req: “Batfam on a road trip? It’s been on my mind for like a week-”
oh god it’s probably so chaotic... and like distinctly dangerous???
also this is my car AU where there’s infinite rows of seats in the car until I’m done.
we’ve got Bruce driving - even though Damian, Dick, Tim, Jason, AND Steph all tried to get behind the wheel but after last years incident the only people allowed to drive are Bruce and Duke but Duke doesn’t like driving with his siblings bouncing off the damn walls.
Speaking of Duke, mans snagged himself a window seat SO FAST it would make your head spin. He likes to sit next to Damian (who got put in the middle because he’s the smallest) and they share earbuds and Duke’s phone which is loaded with like 128 hours of songs. Against popular belief, Damian is actually good at sharing when it’s not with one of his more “obnoxious” siblings and he and Duke get along really well - they also have the same music taste. Duke changes between queue-ing songs, staring out the window making little stories in his head, and watching Damian draw. He occasionally is tasked with holding the sharp objects smuggled into the car after they’re discovered by Bruce as he’s the second most responsible (after Cass).
Speaking of the most responsible sibling, Cass somehow got shotgun next to Bruce. This is because she’s the only who makes him not want to throw himself out of the car and she’s a pretty good navigator. So, as she tries to moderate the back of the car she also is in charge of agreeing on pit stops and coffee breaks which works well because Cass is fair and no one can be an asshole to her. On the first road trip Cass discovered a Wendy’s Frosty and now she will usually write at least one Wendy’s stop into the trip - no one complains except Tim who is forbidden from ordering the spicy nuggets after last years incident.
Tim, the one notorious for threatening to throw himself out of the car most often, is sat in the far back. He someone gets a row to himself under the guise of “sleeping” when in reality he spends the trip typing away on his laptop, chugging monster energy drinks, and occasionally trying to make Dick bark like a dog through some kind of sleep-manipulation he read about one night at 2am. It involves him whispering in his ear and usually ends up making the whole car uncomfortable, except Jason who thinks it’s the funniest shit ever. However, after the incident his back seat gets thoroughly checked by Bruce for stowaways every pitstop, but he’d never store a secret in the same place twice...
We move to Jason! Who sits next to Steph. They’re the snack distributors. Known for throwing popcorn in the other’s mouths but it usually ends up being thrown at Bruce, Damian, or both. Jason is a champ at fruit roll up eating competitions. He claims it’s because his tongue is so strong from eating... nevermind. Jason is surprisingly organized about the snacks, and frequently restocks (with Bruce’s credit card of course) on pit stops. Jason likes to complain early into the trip but by the end he’s telling the most fun stories, singing the loudest, and causing the most trouble. His and Steph’s row is definitely the most fun. But he’s still on the list with Bruce after helping Tim become a world class smuggler during the trip that shall not be named.
Steph is the family interpreter. She shares messages from the back to the front and vice versa. She’s known for saying the back row is hungry when it was in fact her but everyone loves her for her honesty. She’s the first to ask for a leg stretch break, and the one who puts on good songs after Dick has had the aux for too long. She’s basically the lorax of the batfam road trip. She usually makes the snack packs that are distributed throughout the car and is known for memorizing everyone’s favorites to optimize the best snacks. Steph actually wasn’t in the car for the great incident, she often questions what happened but only knows what Dick quietly whispered to her, something about feeding nuggets to a foreign passenger...
Dick, the storyteller, the terrible-music-meister, the road trip organizer himself, sits on the other side of Damian. He was the one who purposefully cleared everyone’s schedule for the weekend and who roughly planned the route. Dick works closely with Cass to make sure they’re going the right way and he also mediates all fights that occur during the trip, and trust that there are a lot. Dick is known for being restless and often throws his head out the window on the freeway “just to feel something” his quote not mine. Dick is incharge of taking all dangerous items off Damian (and sometimes Tim’s) person before the trip and he was in the most trouble when the intruders were found during last years incident. But he took it with stride and promised Bruce this year would be better!
Damian, the deeply unhappy middle seater, can be found drawing and pretending he can’t hear Grayson blabbing on about “this crazy adventure he had as Robin so sooo long ago”. Damian is known for pouting through the first stop but after he’s had some quiet time he can actually be seen with the corners of his mouth upturned- especially if they drive past farms during the trip (Cass tries extra hard to make sure they do). Damian also had been known to try to run away during stops so he’s kind of heavily watched by Bruce and Dick. Luckily, his place in the middle seat means he’s far enough away from Tim to be “bothered by his mere presence” which is a significant win and close enough to Duke and Cass to keep him sane.
We are in fact missing two main people: Babs and Alfred. These two opt to stay home, getting the much deserved break they need. They like to have tea parties, cleaning extravaganzas, and (though they won’t admit it) the occasional dance break in the batcave when no one’s looking. They like to take the batmobile to get food and their guilty pleasure is watching rom-coms on the giant screen in the batcave while eating “trashy takeaways” as Alfred so eloquently calls them. These two have the best time, but if anyone asks they were simple awaiting the rest of their families return.
That’s how I think it’d go down! Overall I think it would be chaotic but not as bad as one might think, they are family after all : )
Oh wait, I forget, there are two more stowaways...
Bart and Kon are silent, Kon mostly flies above but occasionally slips into the trunk to rest with Bart. Bart easily slips into the trunk and is quite literally gone in a flash if Bruce ever suspects anything. Just because Tim can’t hand feed him nuggets doesn’t mean the boy isn’t read for road trip part two! He just hopes Kon made a flying stop at tacobell because he’s getting kinda hungry...
“Timmmm are we there yet?”
“DID I JUST HEAR WHAT I THINK I DID TIM”
“oh my god I finally experienced the great incident but now part two!”
“hi Steph! Yeah I’m here! Sorry Brucie, but yeah, can you pass me a twizzler?”
“HOW DID YOU DO THIS AGAIN TIM I SWEAR TO-”
yup, now that’s a batfam road trip : )

Batshit AU Pt #2: The Grandkids
So I mentioned in the last post Batshit AU Pt. #1 that I cover Dick and Jason's kids but since I've been thinking (read: fantasizing) about the future of the Batfam I figured I'd just do a post with ALL the grandkids!
Just a heads up: this is a LONG post.
First we shall start with the Grayson's:
Mar'i and Jake (Jake is not my original name I've seen it pop up in other media- dunno if it's canon in any timeline but I'm going with it).
Mar'i Grayson: Mar'i is the biologically daughter of Dick Grayson and Koriand'r of Tamaran (aka Starfire). Kori is unknowingly pregnant after one last one-night-stand with Dick before going back to her home planet to take over as queen. Unfortunately, because of Kori's sister Komand'r (aka Blackfire) causing civil unrest to try and usurp the thorn from her, Tamaran becomes unsafe for Mar'i as she is Kori's only heir.
-Kor'i goes back to Earth with an infant Mar'i and begrudgingly hands her over to Dick so she can live with him and be safe from Blackfire.
-Kori of course visits while she can but has a lot of responsibilities on Tamaran. When Mar'i is older she is able to go back to Tamaran to visit her mother.
-A few years later when Dick and Barbra get married, Barbra officially adopts Mar'i. Seeing both Kor'i and Barbra as her mothers Mar'i decides so call Kori "Mama" and Barbra "Mom/Mommy".
Jake Grayson: don't have much of an exciting backstory for him. He was basically just an orphaned infant Dick and Barbra decided to adopt after his bio-parents had been murdered.
Now he have the Todd family:
Because I am a heartless monster I decided that since Roy died in the comics without any sign of Lian and Jason was pretty fucked up about it, I would have Jason adopt Lian because Roy wasn't round to take care of her. So this is basically what happened:
Lain Harper-Todd: 1 year or so after Roy's death, Jason is visited by Jade Nguyen (aka Cheshire) who is carrying an infant Lian. Jade explains that she hadn't realised she was pregnant with Roy's child until after he was already dead and since she is not ready to give up her life as an assassin she states that Lian is better off without her. She then asks Jason if he would be willing to take Lian in as Roy's former partner (read into that how you will).
-Jason agrees, and decides to hyphenate her last name Harper-Todd so that she will always have a piece of Roy with her even if he can't be there for her in person.
it's not that I don't think JayRoy is cute! It's just that I honestly I don't really picture Jason dating anyone in my mind and the thought of him being a single dad is just precious. I'm also allergic to OC's (of my own making) so I usually try to keep to characters that are at least canon in some timeline and Lian was the first to come to mind.
Also I'm a angst-hungry monster so...
Drake-Wayne/Dowd/McGinnis household:
Lol, this family has too many names.
I already went over Terry and Matthew McGinnis' backstory in Batshit AU Pt. #1 but if you are too lazy/ don't feel like reading it I'll try to make sure to cover the important details.
Terry & Matthew McGinnis: A few years down the road, Tim is the current Batman and married to Bernard Dowd (my new fave batship). One night on patrol he finds the boys hunkered down behind an garbage container and approaches them.
-Terry is extremely protective of his younger brother Matt and becomes immediately aggressive, swinging a baseball around and threatening Tim to leave them alone.
-Tim finds it admirable/endearing that Terry is willing to face Batman alone in order to protect his brother and tells him so. He then asks them where there parents and and Matt (trusting Batman) tells Tim that they were killed by the 'Bad Men' who are now looking for he and Tarry.
-Tim is worried for the boys safety and offers to take them to the Police, but Tarry only says that they already tried that and that there are spies in the GCPD who ratted them out to the 'Bad Men'.
-Tim figures out that the boys are in more danger then he first realized and takes them home with him in order to protect them.
-Tim eventually finds out about Project Batman Beyond, an experiment orchestrated by A.R.G.U.S. in order to create the perfect child to usurp the Cowl and give A.R.G.U.S and 'in' with the Justice League and the super-community as a whole. A part of this project is making sure the children are biologically Bruce Wayne's in order for them to also gain influence over Wayne Enterprises.
-Tim realizes that there is no real safe place that he can send the boys and after discussing it with his husband, Bernard, the two decide to adopt the boys.
I think this adoption story is one of my favourites. Especially because I find the idea of Bernard not at all being surprised by his husband brining home black-haired blue-eyes orphans, hilarious.
Bernard: I figured since you are now Batman it was only a matter of time.
Tim: >:(
Wayne-Kent situation:
DamiJon is one of my absolute favourite ships in existence. But since both boys are so young in canon my version of their future relationship truly is creature of my own design, I will explain them a little and then the kids. I'll be quick about it. Promise. (There is also a 2 part series I'm working on that goes into my version of events called "Jon and Damian" if anyone is interested. Jon's chapter is done but Damian's is still in the works).
Jon: he is the one that I really have to explain. I call my version of him "Dark-ish Jon" or 'dark ish jon' for the tags. For those of you who already know the deal (or don't really care) y'all can skip to the *** for the kids.
-basically Jon was kidnapped by Jon-El (Clark's Kryptonian Bio-dad) in order for Jor-El to mold Jon into the perfect weapon for his plan to conquer the universe. They have a machine that Jumps through various timelines so no one can find them, and Jon-El trains/tortures Jon for 2 years.
-Jon eventually discovers new powers that allow him to kill Jor-El and escape but he ends up spending the next several years trying to find his original timeline.
-He eventually meets the Legion of Superheroes that help him get home, but once he arrives home he realizes that for him it has been 7 years since he was kidnaped, but only 2 weeks for his family/friends.
-Because of this he and his family find it hard to adjust to the new situation and Jon ultimately decides to return to the Legion but visit occasionally.
Damian: Honestly I don't think I really have to explain much about Damian for y'all to get the kids but I do want you to know:
He has long hair
He has peirced ears
Possibly tattoos?
He's has more of a slim figure than Bruce's bulky one
He is a fashion icon and kinda has 'bitchy white girl' energy
Bacically he very pretty and looks a LOT like Thalia
And yeah. The two eventually reconcile after Jon is done moping in another timeline and they decide to retire from crime fighting and build a cottage/farm and live in peace.
***
Athanasia: So she is actually Bruce's bio-kid from the Injustice timeline. And for my AU she is still Bruce's biologically and she does recognize him as her father, but because she and Damian are 13/14 years apart and she knows him better she lives and defers to him as her caretaker. I shall explain:
-Athanasia was created by Thalia in a fit of madness after Damian's death. Because of what happened to Damian, and because Athanasia turned out to be a girl (and therefor Ra's would have no use for her), Thalia keeps the little girl locked away and a secret so that no one can harm her.
-Years pass and Athanasia has never seen the outside would. Eventually something happens (will depends on the Fic -because I will get around to writing this shit eventually) and Athanasia is given to Damian (the only other person Thalia ever told her about.)
-At this point Bruce is getting older and most of his current children already have their own kids, so both he and Damian agree that because Athanasia is mostly attached to Damian and doesn't really know who Bruce is outside of being her father, that she will live with he and Jon.
-Athanasia get's older and eventually meets another girl at her school named Carrie Kelley. The girls form a quick bond, Carrie's louder personality complementing Athanasia's more quiet one.
Carrie Kelley: being best friends with Athanasia leads to Carrie spending a lot of time over at her house. This allows Jon and Damian to get to know the girl and become quite fond of her.
-one night after a sleepover at Jon and Damian's house with some of their other friends, Carrie's father comes to the house drunk and carrying a shot gun. He accuses Jon and Damian of being pedophiles because of their sexual orientations and calls them a variety of homophobic slurs.
-It's his attempts at shooting Jon that leads to Carrie calling 911 and having her own father arrested.
-Because her mother had already left and Carrie only had her dad to take care of her, Jon and Damian offer her a place in their home and eventually adopt her along with Athanasia when the girls are teenagers.
So, yeah! That's it for now. I am absolutely obsesses with this AU. I just love the idea of Bruce deciding to take in Dick leading to him having an army of children and grandchildren so large that all family gatherings have to happen at the Manor because nowhere else is big enough.

How about 12. pushing a strand of hair behind their ear or 18. squishing the other’s cheek for the touching ask game!
touches prompt list
i did number 12! a little continuation of my no-entities au where only jon works at the institute and jon and martin are married and own a cat (which is here but you definitely don't have to have read it to read this!). cw for brief mention of canon-typical stranger content (in a non-canon-typical context)
.
Martin wakes to sunlight streaming in through the window, a slight crick in his neck, and a pair of intense brown eyes staring into his.
“Hey,” Martin mumbles, closing his eyes and snuggling a bit deeper into his pillow. He opens his mouth to speak again but his words are swallowed instead by a yawn.
“Hello,” Jon says softly. His voice is still ragged with sleep, lower than usual and a bit breathy. Martin adores it.
A hand ghosts against Martin’s cheek, and he cracks an eye open.
Jon smiles and traces his fingers along Martin’s cheekbone, the shell of his ear, the soft slant of his jaw. His expression is almost reverent, like he thinks Martin has hung the moon in the sky and lit the stars on fire beside it.
“Good morning to you too,” Martin says with a small, fond smile. Then, after Jon continues to look at him with open tenderness, all warm sunlight and pleasant harmonies and soft edges: “Can I help you?”
Jon hums. “What do you mean?”
Martin feels his breath hitch as Jon’s thumb brushes against the corner of his mouth. “You’re staring, love.”
Jon’s expression turns bashful, as it always does when Martin uses that particular pet name. “Am I not allowed to admire my darling husband?”
Martin isn’t sure which word makes him blush more: darling or husband. “Oh, no—you are. Highly encouraged, even. Just … wanted to know if there was an occasion. O-or if there’s something on my face.”
“No occasion.” Carefully, Jon tucks a strand of hair behind Martin’s ear, letting the tips of his fingers linger against the soft, sensitive skin there. “I just … thought you looked rather lovely this morning.”
The flush spreads across Martin’s face and to the tips of his ears, where Jon can surely feel it. “We’ve been married for almost three years, Jon. You don’t have to keep trying to win me over.”
“Mm, I have to disagree.” Jon leans forward and presses a kiss to Martin’s now-exposed temple. “It’s precisely because we’ve been married for so long that I ought to tell you how wonderful you are, and how much I appreciate you, and how much I love you.” He places another kiss on the top of Martin’s cheek. “I wouldn’t want you to forget, after all.”
Martin’s face could probably cook an egg by this point. “And to think, when we first met, I thought you weren’t the kind of person to have emotions.”
Jon’s nose wrinkles slightly, which is adorable. “Of course I have emotions, Martin.”
“Well, I know that now.” Martin reaches blindly for Jon’s other hand until he finds it and squeezes it gently. “You’re a hopeless romantic, through and through.”
“I can’t believe you ever thought otherwise,” Jon says with exaggerated offense. “I was never exactly subtle.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Martin laughs softly and brushes a kiss of his own against Jon’s nose. “You were saying that I’m lovely?”
Jon hums and squeezes Martin’s hand. “I was. And if I ever stop doing do, please assume that I’ve been … replaced by a monster that has tricked you into thinking it’s me by stealing my skin or … something of the sort. ”
“You,” Martin says, “have been spending too much time watching horror movies with Tim.”
“I have been spending a perfectly reasonable amount of time watching horror movies with Tim, and I resent any implications otherwise.”
Jon has an adorable little pout on his lips. He looks extremely kissable at the moment. Martin brushes the corner of Jon’s mouth with his thumb, cradles Jon’s face gently, and leans in.
And nearly gets a mouthful of fur as Clarence loudly and boldly asserts himself between them.
“Oh!” Jon says as Clarence chirps happily and bumps his head against Jon’s forehead. “Hello, Clarence. How are you this morning?”
Clarence meows and bumps his head against Jon’s face again.
“I’m glad to hear it. Getting proper rest is very important for a gentleman of your age, after all.” Jon scratches underneath Clarence’s chin. “Almost two years old!”
Clarence meows louder and turns to stare at Martin intently.
“I think he’s hungry,” Martin says, amused.
“Yes, yes—he’s a growing man.” Jon pets the space between Clarence’s ears. “Is your bowl empty? You’ve been very good this morning—I believe we have some wet food in the fridge. How does that sound?”
Jon sits up. The moment his lap is available, Clarence immediately jumps onto it and starts kneading his paws up and down contentedly. Jon makes a sound Martin could only describe as cooing as he gathers Clarence in his arms and stands, adjusting his grip so that the cat is held securely and safely. Clarence still seems to want to make it his personal mission to climb onto Jon’s shoulders. He wriggles determinedly and manages to get his paws settled on Jon’s shoulder with his face pressed right up against Jon’s cheek. The sight makes something warm and affectionate squeeze in Martin’s stomach; he wants to freeze time and teach himself how to paint just so he can adequately capture the image in front of him.
“What are your plans for the day?” Jon murmurs as he walks away, cradling Clarence close to his chest. “I’m sure you have many important catly duties to attend to.”
An agreeable mmrp is the last sound Martin hears before Jon disappears through the bedroom door and the sounds of his gentle babbles to the cat fade into the background. Martin lies in bed for a few moments more, staring at the open doorway and thinking to himself just how lucky he is that he gets to have this. Then, he stands, stretches, and follows Jon out into the kitchen.
He still owes his husband a kiss, after all.

magnus fic roundup
as tma comes to a close, i thought i'd post some of my favorite fics to come out of this fandom. most of these are classics, listed in no particular order.
A Weather In The Flesh by @cuttoothed | 3K | S1-S4 | Jon/Martin | Complete
"There is a span of years where Jon doesn’t touch anyone other than the occasional hand shake. It’s not so bad. He’s never been someone who’s needed physical affection."
Jon has never been any good at making people want to stick around.
↳ this is such a well-done exploration of jon’s character and his relationship with touch, and i’ve re-read it at least five times. sweet and sad and phenomenally well-written.
in the chillest land and on the strangest sea by imperfectcircle, singlecrow | 20K | Safehouse, S1-S4 | Jon & Daisy, Jon/Martin | Complete
Jon remembers a statement he read years ago given by a Jesuit priest, who said that the shortest prayer he knew was, just, fuck it, as in fuck it; it's in God's hands. He takes Daisy's hand and trails on after her.
or; hope is a thing with feathers.
↳ hey, you wanna fuckin..... feel things? read this.
The Magnus Institute vs the 21st Century: a series of emails and IMs by shinyopals | 26K | Series | S3 | Pre-Jon/Martin | Complete
The Magnus Institute hires a Data Protection Officer. He sets about diligently booking in meetings, writing policy documents, and training all the staff in the importance of confidentiality. Now if only he could get hold of the Head Archivist, who seems to have vanished again...
(Jon is only trying to save the world, but apparently some people think he should still be doing his day job.)
↳ i’d be surprised to find people who haven’t read this series, but it’s the definition of “the magnus archives is a workplace comedy”. also, alasdair stuart has actually read some clips of this on Twitch, so that’s a fun bonus.
Bell, Book, and Candle by yellow_caballero | 102K | Series | S3 into S4 | Jon/Martin | Complete
In accordance with the Ride or Die Pact of 2009, Jonathan Sims can call upon Georgie Barker at any time for aid with no strings attached. Despite their rocky history, their childhood friendship, and Jon’s barely recovered alcoholism, this pact is sacred and must be upheld.
Georgie Barker may regret this. She may regret it when she discovers that the world is full of monsters and eldritch gods and dickhead managers. She may regret it when a punk rocker who should be dead collapses on their doorstep, a teenager again who needs their help. She may regret it when her stupid ex-boyfriend starts selling his soul for knowledge and the ability to keep his new family safe.
But she probably won’t. Georgie isn’t scared of anything - not a Clown’s apocalypse, not the apocalypse that Jon is destined to begin, and not Jon’s own loss of humanity.
Maybe she should be.
↳ if you’re looking for an everyone-lives-no-one-dies-happy-ending fic that also happens to be massively chaotic, look no further.
The Reverb in These Holy Halls by @wolftraps | 98K | AU, S1-S4 | Jon/Martin | Complete
Undoing the apocalypse would have been enough for Jon, if all his people survived. Without them, Jon's only recourse is making it so it never happened in the first place. He's going to do better this time.
↳ quintessential time travel AUs. plot-wise, i feel like these can be difficult to write, but op does a fantastic job of tying things together in a way that makes sense. plus, it’s just fun to read.
jon sims v the nhs by @thoughtsbubble | 12K | Series | S3 | Complete
Joan Bright has a new patient. He's carrying an old tape recorder and is covered head to toe in scars. Jonathan Sims looks dangerous, but Dr Bright has dealt with all sorts of atypical individuals. She has no reason to be nervous.
Right?
↳ if you’ve ever thought “hey, jon should probably go to therapy”, then 1) you’re absolutely right and 2) this is... probably what would’ve happened. prior knowledge of The Bright Sessions is not required. also, apparently, this fic is written by the showrunner of The Underwood Collection? wild.
Family, Found by Dribbledscribbles | 9K | S4 | Complete
It’s Basira who catches onto it.
The collective shift that seems to come over them when heading in or out of the Institute. Not just the oppressive sensation of being observed, their every move catalogued for the voyeuristic cravings of some unseen Eye(s). That feeling remained with them even when they left the Institute these days, but it was always stronger inside its walls. That wasn’t the change. Nor was it the point.
The point was: making life worse for Jonathan Sims.
↳ i think being part of the avengers fandom circa 2012 has given me permanent found-family-trope brainrot, but you know what. jonathan sims can have a little happiness, as a treat.
Road to Damascus by @titanfalling | 107K | Series | S4 | Jon & Tim | Complete
n. an important moment of insight, typically one that leads to a dramatic transformation of attitude or belief
Or, in which Tim becomes an avatar for the end of all things.
↳ tim dies and then he doesn’t. there is catharsis and world building. just....read it.
Come, Change Your Ring With Me by @backofthebookshelf | 29K | S3 | Peter/Jon, Jon/Martin, Peter/Elias | Complete
The Lukases demand the Archivist marry into the family, and the Institute relies on them too much to say no. Peter is smug. Elias is fuming. Martin is suffering. Jon thinks this might be tolerable if only Peter would hurry up and leave him alone already.
OR, the soap opera we call an Archives revolves around Peter Lukas this time.
↳ superb evil-bastards-in-love content, feat. martin pining, tim being obnoxious, and jon being... well, tired, mostly. i will literally never get tired of how op writes peter.
creatures that i briefly move along by @dotsayers | 16K | Series | AU, Post-S4 | background Jon/Martin
Mr Sims was so weird, was the thing. Miss Grant always said calling people weird was rude, and Anna sort of agreed, but she didn’t know what other word to use to describe Mr Sims.
He’d only been in with the class for a few days, really, and half of that he just sat at the back listening, but that didn’t stop her from making a swift judgement. 5BG had had student teachers before, back when they were 3ST, and they’d been uniformly normal.
Mr Sims was… actually, Anna had a better adjective. He was interesting.
↳ i just.... love teacher!jon fics. this series delivers.
Once Bitten by @apatheticbutterflies | 1K | S4 | Jon & Daisy | Complete
Jon Sims has always been a jumpy kind of guy. Nervous. Twitchy. Daisy used to think it meant he was guilty. Turns out he was. Just not of what she’d thought.
Daisy learns how to peel an orange.
↳ daisy and jon’s relationship is an example of an instance where i’m happy to say “fuck what you wrote mr. jonny ‘chocolate torte of tragedy’ sims, i want them to be friends”.
pins and needles by mutterandmumble | 13K | S1-S4 | Complete
He’s got a reputation to uphold anyways; an uptight, rigid reputation that dictates the way that he interacts and functions and is such an integral part of him that he can’t let go of it anytime soon. He likes his safety nets. He likes his contingencies. He likes his privacy, and everything around this place right down to the walls seems to have ears, so he’ll stay tight-lipped up to and beyond the threat of death.
He’s good at that.
In which Jon takes up embroidery and bumbles through life the best that he can.
↳ out of all the introspective jon pieces i’ve read (and there are many), this one stands out. maybe it’s the symbolism or the characterisation, or maybe it’s the fact that i have an embroidery kit lurking in the back of my closet along with a hundred other half-pursued hyperfixations. whatever. this is excellent.
sleeping in by @ivelostmyspectacles | 5K | S2 | Jon/Tim | Complete
“Who are you trying to convince?”
Jon gives up, letting his head sag against Tim’s shoulder. “I don’t know.”
aka Elias gets tired of Jon and Tim's bickering, sends them away for a "team-building" weekend trip, and is sure to book them a room with only one bed
↳ this has everything you’d need from a “oh no there’s only one bed” fic. someone please get these men therapy.
if you try, sometimes (you get what you knead) by @ajcrawly | 3.5K | S1-S4 | Jon/Martin, Tim/Sasha | Complete
It starts with an abundance of boeuf bourguignon and ends up as a team tradition.
Food and love in uncertain times.
↳ more found family fic, this time with a diverse og!archival staff and food as a metaphor for love. hurt in all the right ways. made me hungry in the process.

Chapter 5: Yes, Dick? You’re looking particularly dickish today
After so much commotion, the silence as they sat made Marinette’s ears ring. She and her Order were gathered in the spacious living room of Chloe’s house. After checking to make sure it was empty, she and the other miraculous holders had reassured their civilian classmates and sent them off to bed. They’d spent the better part of the day getting out of the overcrowded town. Thank Kwami they hadn’t still been travelling after the sun went down, but the noises from the woods still kept them all awake. Kagami had dug out a teapot from the kitchen cabinets and brewed several mugs for those who had needed one. No one was hungry.
Marinette’s hands shook slightly as she sipped her tea. That was another blessing, that Chloe’s VIP pass included a partially stocked kitchen to begin with. They would explore the rest of the house tomorrow, but for now, while the others rested.... They needed to talk.
She set her cup down with a sound that was amplified in the heavy quiet, then took a deep breath. “Okay....” The words felt strange in her mouth. She swallowed against the lump in her throat. “Can anyone sense their Kwami?”
She looked around at the blank faces of her friends as they all tried to reach for their respective powers. Chloe’s lip trembled, but her eyes were dry. Luka and Kagami’s jaws clenched, and Adrien frowned as he shook his head.
“None of us can, then,” Luka stated evenly, finally voicing what she’d been afraid of.
Marinette bit her lip. Kagami placed her cup of tea down forcefully. “What are we going to do.” It wasn’t a question so much as a statement.
Marinette rubbed her eyes. Kwami, what could they do? They should count themselves lucky they weren’t dead yet. She could only imagine her Maman and Papa’s panic, but they hadn’t tried to pull her out, so she hadn’t....
They could still die though, if what the Game Master had said was true. If their HP dropped to zero, they would die. There was no Second Chance or Lucky Charm this time. But they were still likely among the best trained people in the game. Her mind was made up.
“We fight.” She finally said with all the confidence she could muster. “There are thousands of civilians stuck in here with us, so we need to fight for them. We need to beat the level bosses in order to advance, right?” The question was rhetorical, but Chloe nodded and Kagami blinked in affirmation all the same.
“Good,” Marinette stood up. “We will be the ones to fight these bosses. So they don’t have to. Think about it, even without our Kwami, we still have an edge on everyone else here. The faster we beat the game, the faster they can go home.”
“And us too!” Adrien jumped up with a smile. “And us too,” Marinette echoed.
Luka drained his tea and stood next. “So it’s settled then,” he put a hand on her shoulder, steady as ever.
“Indeed,” Kagami rose beside them.
Chloe stared up at them, eyes wide. “You really think we can do this?” She asked in a small voice.
Marinette looked her in the eye and said, “I know we can.” The blonde released a small sigh and stood as well. A gleam of determination entered her eye as she said, “Okay. Let’s go save everyone from this ridiculous game.”
* * *
Jason, Jaime, Cassie, and Zatanna returned to the center of town. It was nearly deserted now, the murky twilight creating pockets of shadows around the square, perfect for hiding lurking figures. But it was nothing Jason couldn’t handle. In fact, with his current mood, he damn well dared them to try.
They’d spent hours hacking away at the wild boars, Jaime even joining in as his allergies permitted him. The four had gained a few player levels and a decent amount of money and loot. But damn if it wasn’t tiring as hell.
His crossbow was much more taxing than using guns, and it used different muscles in his shoulders and arms than he was accustomed to working. He could tell the others were similarly weighed down by exhaustion. Cassie’s whip demanded an endurance she wasn’t used to without her super strength, Jaime’s throws of a handaxe grew increasingly shorter the longer they fought, and Zatanna wasn’t used to fighting with physical weapons at all. It took everything they had left to drag themselves back into town.
One of the shadows a few feet away swam with sudden movement. Jason equipped his crossbow, arms shaking with the effort of just holding it. Damnit, now was not a good time, but he’d still fight these bastards with everything he had.
He relaxed when he saw it was Dick and the rest of Team Alpha approaching. Putting his weapon away, Jason crossed his arms and planted his feet firmly. Dick better have gotten them those fucking beds for the night.
“We’re just waiting on Beta,” Dick said in a low voice. “Then we can go to the inn and regroup.” The others could regroup. Jason would be heading right to sleep. He stalked over to the brick wall Bart sat slumped against and leaned his shoulder against it. The cool roughness grounded him and kept his eyes open.
He distantly heard Zatanna telling Dick that they had made out okay in the west. Unnecessary talking when there were other players listening nearby. He swallowed against the urge to forcibly silence them that was rising in his blood. It sang with the persistent thrum of battle, unshakable as it was insistent. He closed his eyes and counted his breaths. One. Breathe out and picture a color. Blue. Breathe in. Two. Out. Yellow. In. Three. Out. Green.
He’d barely reached ten by the time Tim led his group back to join them. The song in his blood stilled for now, he pushed off of the wall and followed as Dick and Wally guided them to the inn. He hardly registered his surroundings as they entered and divvied up the rooms. He, Dick, Tim, and Wally were in one room, the girls in another, and the other boys in a third. The place seemed clean enough as he cast his tired eyes around the tavern.
They climbed the stairs to their rooms and settled in each. Dick and Tim sat on their beds talking about going to the other boys’ room-- the largest of the three-- to discuss strategy. Jason hardly heard them as his head hit the pillow and he fell asleep.
* * *
The warmth of the early morning sun on her face woke Marinette up. She stretched and yawned, wincing at her soreness. Sometimes this game was a little too realistic. In the bed beside hers, Chloe grumbled something about the girls’ room having no curtains over the window and rolled over.
Marinette gave a strained smile at that. She quietly dressed and descended the ladder from their small loft to where the rest of the girls were still sleeping, and tip-toed out to the hall.
Down the stairs was the kitchen, empty save for a softly steaming tea kettle that meant Kagami and Luka would soon be joining her. She prepared dough to make fresh croissants as she had every couple of days for the past few weeks since they’d been trapped in the game.
The thought briefly gave her pause, that they’d already been here for close to a month, but she shook it off and formed the croissants onto the baking tray. She slid them into the oven just as Kagami and Luka trailed in from the garden. They’d been harvesting the already-ripe blueberries, and laid a heaping basket of them on the countertop.
Chloe’s VIP pass had saved their lives and then some. It came with a comfortably sized house that included a full kitchen, sitting area, storage room, balcony, two massive bedrooms with enough room to house all twelve of them, a garden ready to be planted in, and stables already stocked with several horses. It really was luxurious, and if they weren’t trapped in the game, she would have found it much more enjoyable.
The property also included a small pond that had proved to give a refreshing swim after training sessions, a well, and a few acres of woods. The latter was where they did most of their monster-training. Marinette had already reached a player level of 10 just by fighting the various denizens of their backyard. The rest of the new Order wasn’t far behind her, ranging from levels 7 to 10 between the four of them.
“Good morning, Marihime,” Kagami inclined her head respectfully, then poured the tea into three waiting mugs. Luka thanked her and shot Marinette a quick smile as way of greeting.
She nodded back and stirred a generous helping of sugar into her mug. The three sipped their tea while they waited for the croissants to bake. Once they were finished and cooling, Marinette and the others donned cloaks to protect against the morning chill and started their brisk morning walk into town.
The dirt path wound down to the base of the hill where several more paths for other player houses split off the main track that they now set on. The lush grass on either side was covered in a slight blanket of mist from the evaporating morning dew. Birds chirped high above, darting between the sparse trees. The walk took about a half hour, and their tea was nearly finished by the time they arrived at the outskirts of the city.
Kagami polished off her mug and placed it back in her inventory, then rested her hand warily on the hilt of her rapier as they began encountering more people. Their destination, a news stand, was thankfully not too close to the center of town. The less people they encountered, the better.
“Get your daily paper here! New news every day! Two copper pieces for a paper, one gold for a yearly subscription.” Marinette veered towards the NPC shouting her wares.
“Hi, one paper please,” she said breathlessly, and slid two copper pieces onto the counter.
“Here you go!” The vendor, an ample woman of thirty, took the coins and handed Marinette a folded newspaper with a smile. “You know, you’re one of my best customers. I’ll give you a deal,” she winked, “how about fifty silver for a yearly subscription!”
“Oh, that’s very kind of you miss, but I’m afraid we won’t be staying quite that long,” Marinette replied. At least, she hoped not.
“Very well dear, have a lovely day!” The NPC thankfully seemed unbothered, and went back to shouting her prices to the general population.
Luka and Kagami moved from their posts of casually guarding Marinette while she dealt with the woman manning the stall. The three set off back the way they’d come, ready for another day of training and exploring the first level.
Marinette unfolded the newspaper and skimmed the headlines while they walked, trusting her companions to keep an eye out for her. However, they weren’t expecting her to stop dead in her tracks. It took a moment for them to turn around and backtrack to where she stood staring intently at the paper in her hands.
“Holy Kwami....” She said, and read the article title again. “‘Exploration team finds boss dungeon entrance!’” She read aloud.
Luka moved to peer over her shoulder and read it alongside her. “You know what this means?” He asked with a small smile.
Kagami put her hand on Marinette’s shoulder. “We are on the path to ending this.”
* * *
Jason woke up to an empty house. It had only been a few weeks since the start of the game, and his idiot brothers were out in the village. Again. He groaned at the motion of swinging his legs off the bed to sit up. Training to get used to the in-game movements was getting old.
He stood and rubbed the back of his neck, loosening some of the stiffness that seemed to have soaked into his bones. He went downstairs to the spacious kitchen to get some fruits for breakfast. With twelve people to make money and collect resources, the team had made quick work of purchasing a large house to use as a base.
Grabbing a few apples for the road, Jason traced the now-familiar path to find Dick and a few of the others in a communal amphitheater. Bart and Wally were handing out flyers near the entrances, chatting people up and trying to convince them to come listen to where Dick and Tim were speaking below.
Jason took a seat next to Artemis, near the back. “At it again?” He asked her, crunching into his apple.
She was leaning forward to prop her elbows on her knees, her chin resting in cupped hands. “Yup,” she said, popping the “p.” She sighed and sat up. “All week, and we’ve only got a handful of recruits.”
“We’re all in this together after all,” Dick was saying loudly. “So join us to help end this game! I have a plan to train recruits for taking on the first level boss.”
Jason yawned. Same old fuckin’ stupid plan. There’s just no way to make risking your life sound enticing. “The others still out hunting?” He nudged Artemis’s knee with his own.
She nodded in affirmation, looking similarly discouraged and bored. He got up and started to leave, deciding to make himself useful and join the rest of the team in fighting.
“Jason!” A shout made him stop. He looked to the sky and muttered to himself about patience, then turned to face his brother. “Yes, Dick? You’re looking particularly dickish today.”
Dick crossed his arms. “Haha, very funny. If you’re not busy, I could really use you here spreading the word.”
“Look, people just don’t want to go up against something they’ve never faced before. Hell, half these dumbasses haven’t even been in a real fight before.” He shook his head. “This is a waste of time. I’m going to fight some monsters so that I can level up and be ready for when we inevitably face the big bad without these posers.”
Dick narrowed his eyes at that. “Now hold on a minute, we have no idea what we’re going up against here. We need a bigger group before we’re ready to go up against the boss. More than half of us aren’t up to par with our special moves out of the picture, and we’re still trying to figure out the gameplay.” He held his hands out placatingly. “An exploration group just found the probable location of the boss dungeon, so that’s half the battle already. We just need to wait for more recruits and a more solid plan.”
“So how long are we supposed to wait, Dick?” Jason asked incredulously. “A week? A month? A year? How many people are going to die while we ‘figure out’ how to do something we already damn well know how to do.” He poked an accusatory finger at Dick’s chest. “We’ve been training for weeks already, we can handle this.”
“I hear you Jay, but we have no idea what kind of a threat this is going to be. We need to take our time and--”
“What you need is a fucking backbone. We’re the best hope that thousands of people have at surviving! I say we train some more and then fight the damn thing ourselves, recruits or no.” He couldn’t believe Dick. Saving people was supposed to be his schtick, not Jason’s. “Hundreds of people have already died, in case you forgot, and this is only the first fucking level. Time is a luxury we do not have.”
Dick looked ready to retort when a young boy came up to him and tapped him on the elbow. “Excuse me, mister? I’m interested in recruitment!”
Jason took advantage of the distraction and stalked off towards the center of town. What a... well, Mr. and Mrs. Grayson picked a damn good name.
If Dick wanted to know what they were up against, then fine. He’d go find out for him.

My creepypasta AU! I really wanted to make my own creepypasta world where i can come up with ideas for the characters as to designing and coming up with their personalities and other stuff!
But before I describe my AU/world here are a few things I want to mention first
1. Some of these ideas are inspired by vivziepop, snuffbomb(I do not support what he did in the past, I just like the characters from the comic Creeps), and pastamonsters
2. There are ships that I will include with my OCs but it DOESN'T mean that I'm one of those fangirls that are like "BEnY iS mInE aNd nO oNe eLsE CaN hAvE him!!" and go after other fans! I respect if you ship yourself or your own characters with the same pasta that I like or if you like someone else! Also I might post some headcanons later on that will be based off of my AU and also I might do those Y/N x *insert your creepypasta love interest here* later on as well! So if you like this and wanna ask something or request something later on you can!
3. You don't have to completely like or agree with every single thing I write or make in my AU! This is just for my entertainment and for others!
4. This is includes demonology so I have like princes/kings/Dukes etc of hell so yes that does mean I include stolas but it is not the same stolas from helluva boss (made by vivziepop)
5. The entities I mention that are part of Demonology, each have their purpose as well.
OK now that I got that out of the way here is a bit of my AU!
The world is divided into 3, which is the earth world, underworld, and hell. What's the difference?
Earth world: this is the normal human world, where people like us exist etc
Underworld: this is where all monsters and killers live and exist (I was inspired by this part by the Creeps comic sense I really liked the concept of having an underworld for killers to live at)
Hell: this is where prince's, queens, kings, princesses, of hell exist. So pretty much rulers of hell.
What happens in the underworld?
(this was also inspired by Creeps) in the underworld it is kind of like the earth world, but of course like I mentioned before, this is where killers exist and all that.
The difference is pretty much what you do, what you can study for, what you do for work, and lifestyle.
What can you study for and work for in the underworld?
Here you can study for careers like morticians, hitman, bounty killers, professional stalkers, and killer apprentices(can also be known as studying to be a proxy), or a demon's apprentice (what you dedicate for is depending the demon you decide to work for)
There are also normal jobs of course, like surgeon, CEO, entrepreneur, and pathologist.
What's the difference between hell and the underworld?
In the underworld it is pretty much normal people that became killers, ghosts, etc.
In hell, only royalty and rulers live there.
Who are in hell?
Queen: lilith
Kings: bael, paimon, asmodeus, purson, belial, viné, balam, zalgo, zagan
Dukes: amduscias, Agares, eligos, astaroth, valefar, barbatos, gusion, zepar, bathin, saleos, aim, buné, berith, focalor, vepar, vual, crocell, allocer, murmur, gremory, vapula, flauros, dantalion.
Princes: vassago, sitri, ipos, gaap, stolas, orobas, seir, beelzebub, lucifer, slenderman (he is zalgo's son here)
Marquises: gamigin, aamon, leraje, naberius, ronové, forneus, marchosias, phenex, sabnock, shax, orias, andras, andrealphus, kimaris, decarabia.
Earls: furfur, malthus, raum, bifrons, andfomalius
Knights: furcas
President: barbas, buer, botis, morax, glasya-labolas, foras, malphas, haagenti, camio, ose, Amy, valac.
How can you get to the underworld?
There are a few ways that you can get to the underworld which are
1. You get brought by a demon from hell or by slenderman himself (very common and popular way). This usually happens once the underworld would be a much better place for you (for example, for Ben drowned he was brought to the underworld by slenderman after he died sense well he's a ghost now and was literally part of a hunted legend of Zelda video game so he was basically a bit of a poltergeist)
2. If you have any background with a killer that already lives in the underworld that was or is still related to you, you can also be brought to the underworld (kind of like when will Grossman was brought to the underworld and Isaac was looking for him (Isaac was his great great great grandpa I think))
3. Once your time has come to be in the underworld, you'll be teleported here, if you are dying then you would just wake up here, and if you are still conscious, you'll black out and get teleported.
What happens once you get to the underworld? Do you change?
Not much is changed, you still have the same personality and physical appearance that you had when you were in the underworld, the only physical change varies depending on how you died or why you came to the underworld (kind of like hazbin hotel and helluva boss, that depending on how you died you get left a mark that shows) or depending on what you did to yourself, a few examples are these:
-Jeff the killer: sense he killed his family and cut a smile on to his face, then when he's in the underworld, that smile does become permanent and a part of him, so it won't heal like a normal cut
-amari (my OC) didn't do anything to herself like Jeff did, but she was just power hungry and thrill seeking out of killing, so sense she has no self inflicted physical marks, once she came to the underworld, she had a skull in the iris of her eye (this kinda came out of the "the eyes are the Window to the soul" thing, and sense she literally wanted the death of others, she had a skull on her eye)
What pastas will I include? (if you are interested in having me do a y/n x creepypasta thing and you wanna know who I am including then this list is for you!)
-Jeff the killer
-Ben drowned
-Jane the killer
-Will grossman
-laughing jack
-nina the killer
-hoodie/Brian (I won't include marble hornets so here hoodie/Brian are the same, same goes for masky/Tim)
-masky/timothy
-sherry(my OC)
-eyeless jack
-slenderman
-ticci toby
-amelie/lady(my OC)
-amari(my OC)
-clockwork
-Damien (my OC)
-hobo heart
-offenderman
-splendor
-puppeteer
-zalgo
Info of the demons
They all have different personalities, morals, and different beliefs. So just because they are demons, it doesn't mean everyone is evil (except for zalgo, he's an evil mf)
-Some of them teach at the institution or schools
-they can make deals with anyone from the earth world and underworld
-sometimes they can take someone under their wing when they see potential in them
-Some of them have businesses, safe houses, proxies, etc just like slenderman
-sometimes they hire hitmen, bounty killers, and stalkers
Well that's it for now! I hope you like this concept I made!and like I said, I this is just for fun! Nothing of this is Canon for the original creators of the pastas or other characters, it's just something I made for my own entertainment and others!

Monster!Tim Coraline AU part 2
A while back, I posted an Idea I had For a Combination of a Coraline AU and a Meta!Tim AU. It's here assuming I made the link correctly.
Well, I had more thoughts on the matter, so I'm making another post.
First off, I want to expand/clarify on how Tim's powers work.
Tim fights (or otherwise challenges) various supernatural things and gains power from defeating them.  I touched on this before and mentioned that it was because it was symbolically similar hunting and eating prey.  I would like to talk a bit more about what this entails.
Upon achieving victory, Tim takes a bit of power from the defeated opponent and incorporates it into himself.  Tim can gain abilities this way or just boost his own power level a bit.  He does not physically eat any part of his opponent.
The opponent is left a bit weaker, but does not lose abilities completely and is not permanently damaged.  They can get their power levels back up given some time.  Think of it like donating blood, they’ll be a little weak and woozy for a bit, but no lasting harm is done.  Now, I cannot stress enough that this is because of the choices Tim makes.
Tim chooses to use his powers in the gentlest way available.  He chooses not to take more than they can safely part with.  He chooses not to simply consume them completely.  He chooses to pay careful attention to how much power his opponents can afford to part with and whether or not they are in a position to weather the recovery safely.  Tim grew up looking up to Batman and Robin.  He believes in harm reduction.
That’s why the supernatural-leaning rogues fear him so much.  Their instincts are very aware that this is a predator that has simply decided not to kill them today.  He probably won’t next time either, but he could easily make a different decision at any time.  At least some of them are not entirely aware of their ties to the supernatural or why the third Robin inspires such primal existential fear.
The thing that drives Tim to keep doing these challenges is not primarily a desire for power (though some of the abilities he gains are useful), but rather because it makes the hunger more manageable for a bit.  It doesn’t stop it, but it takes the edge off for a little while.  Tim was incredibly suspicious of this at first.  He knows full well that his condition makes a point of being inconvenient and that it is easy to spiral out of control in a way that makes one dangerous to oneself or others.  He remembers how miserable the fallout of trying to eat to fullness was.  He made a careful study of the challenges and how they affected him.  He kept meticulous notes on his mental and physical state.  He also created and stuck to a very rigid schedule on how often he would allow himself to “hunt,” and made a point of not taking too much from his “prey.”
Tim starts off pretty close to a baseline human and gathers abilities over time.
When he is very young he gains improved stealth and the ability to sense secrets.  For a little while, that’s all he has, until he learns that there are other things in Gotham he can challenge.
While he was still very young he collected the ability to make his fingernails razor-sharp, the ability to climb like a goat, some minor enhanced strength (just enough to somewhat offset the disadvantage of being so tiny), partial immunity to slipperiness caused by water (from the many rain/fog/whatever spirits to be found in a city as gloomy as Gotham), increased impact resistance (don’t know what that thing was, but Tim’s not sure if he actually beat it or if it was just so high above his level that it felt safe to feed him a scrap of its power purely out of curiosity over what he might do with it), and a bite like a beartrap.
Then the Beldam incident happened.  He got a lot from dealing with the Beldam because that wasn’t an ordinary challenge (by his way of doing things).  The Beldam was too powerful, too dangerous, too impossible to contain, too sneaky, too focused on targeting vulnerable victims who won’t be missed in time for any sign to be found.  Tim had to stop her for good right then and there because he only had one shot.  Even if he survived and escaped (which wasn’t especially likely if he held back at all) she would go right on killing children.  There was no way to put the Beldam in Arkham even just until the next breakout.  No way to track the Beldam.  No way of protecting other isolated, vulnerable children without lethal force.  So Tim killed the Beldam and consumed it entirely (he has to think of the Beldam as an it, he can’t afford to do otherwise).
From defeating the Beldam, he gained a supernatural knack for fiber arts (especially spinning, weaving, and sewing), the ability to control things he makes with these skills to a certain degree, the ability to see through buttons he’s sewn on things, some slight shapeshifting, minor space-folding on the level of making his pockets a bit bigger on the inside, and illusory powers that allow him to make things seem a bit nicer/brighter/more pleasant.  He also gains a pretty huge general power boost that goes into enhancing his existing abilities.  He takes to spinning some very strong cord and keeping a few skeins on his person at all times because it’s useful for a number of things and makes a pretty good weapon, especially with his ability to manipulate it.
The shapeshifting isn’t much on it’s own, but it can combine with other abilities he’s taken on to let him make greater changes and take on forms that better support use of his powers.
After the Beldam incident, Tim’s power levels increase a good deal very quickly, allowing him to challenge and defeat stronger opponents and collect stronger abilities.  Tim continues wandering, continues fighting, continues gaining power.
(Trauma?  What Trauma?  He’s fine.  It all turned out okay in the end.  The Beldam is dead.  The souls she trapped are free.  Tim totally doesn’t have complicated feelings about killing her.  It.  Tim is fine.  Tim totally doesn’t have nightmares about an evil Batman with buttons for eyes.  You would not believe how fine he is.)
He collects some extra senses that allow him to maintain greater awareness of his surroundings.  He gains the ability to produce and maintain a very small fire (like a candle flame on a tealight) at his fingertips.  He gets quicker reflexes from something he probably wouldn’t have been able to beat prior to killing the Beldam (he had to tank an uncomfortable number of hits in that fight).
He gains the ability to find and use what he decides to call shortcuts. They’re these odd little throughways tucked into out of the way places that he can pass through and go from one place to someplace a fair distance away.   One of them is an odd little opening in a wall between a dead-end alley and a rooftop on the other side of town.  The shortcuts don’t look odd or out of place.  He mostly recognizes them by vibes.  If he had been born with this ability rather than gaining it later in life he probably wouldn’t have realized that there was anything odd about the shortcuts or that no one else could see them.
Tim goes on doing his thing, pretending he wasn’t traumatized by the Beldam, and even managing to heal a little despite his somewhat unhealthy handling of it.
Then Robin dies, and Batman loses it.  Now Batman is self-destructing and looks like he’s going to take all of Gotham down with him, the Other Gotham Nightmares are back, and Robin is fucking dead.
Tim is not okay.
Tim tries to get someone else, anyone else, to deal with the situation because a violent, out of control Batman is a pretty massive trigger for him.  No one else who seems like they might be able to do anything for Batman is willing to intervein.  Batman is getting worse.
It looks like Tim is going to have to be the one to do something about this.
When Tim eventually begins his training to be Robin, it is such a hassle learning how to fight without his powers.  Batman and Nightwing think he’s incredibly clumsy when he first starts his training and wonder just how the heck he managed to follow them undetected for so long.  Then the clumsiness clears up more quickly than they would have expected, and they are concerned that he might have had a concussion when he started training and they didn’t notice.
It’s actually because he has to re-learn how to get around without using his powers in a way that Batman and Nightwing would notice, and he’s started to forget how to account for large bulky items that aren’t tucked away in a pocket dimension.  That said, he did do it all without powers in the beginning so he’s re-learning rather than learning something new for the first time.  Also, he figures out pretty quickly that he can use the stealth he got from secret hunters and the goat-like climbing ability he got from a Jersey Devil because neither Bruce nor Dick realizes just how unusual Dick’s childhood level of ability was.
While Tim is operating as the Bats’ emotional support child, he uses his illusion powers from the Beldam to look cute, comforting, healthy, and un-concerning.  When he’s not with the Bats, he drops the illusion and just goes about his business with his actual appearance.  When he has some shit to get done far enough outside of the Bats’ sphere of influence that he can be reasonably confident he can avoid them finding out about it, he turns into something out of a scary movie.
Tumblr media
Guess who gave digital art a try? Here we have Emotional Support Tim, Regular Tim, and Cryptid Tim.
I hadn't originally planned for Cryptid Tim to be showing that much skin, but i had to spend a lot of time figuring out the anatomy before I could figure out how to dress him, and by the time I realized what I was doing, i'd put so much work into the shading on the ribcage that i didn't want to cover it completely. Tim won't actually dress like that in Cryptid form, I just worked really hard on the anatomy. I should do more art to figure out his actual Cryptid Garb.
I went the stretched out, spindly monster route for Tim's Cryptid form because his magic/condition is called "afflicted with gluttony." I know a lot of artists make monsters based on the concept of gluttony heavyset with lots of excess fat tissue, but I feel like it makes sense to have a gluttony monster look hungry, like no matter how much it's eaten it's nowhere near enough.
The gray-ish skin with darker gray hands was just because I thought it would look spooky, and redoing the hands once they were done felt like it would be a lot of work. Hands are hard. Especially with foreshortening.

If we’re sharing AU ideas, what about a story where Eclipse, a werewolf who lives in a separate dimension full of monsters, accidentally brings a totally normal human, Arulius, back to her world. And unfortunately the portal back to the human world doesn’t reopen for X months, so until then she has to keep Ru hidden because she’s rightfully worried the other monsters will want to eat Ru. And she doesn’t want to eat him because he was a nice human who gave her a sandwich when she was hungry. Who will give her more sandwiches if he’s dead?! But of course, being stuck together for such a long period of time, feelings start to bloom! And maybe being stuck in the monster world starts to have unusual side effects on humans too.
OKAY OKAY SO LIKE FUNNY ENOUGH
YOU ARE REALLY CLOSE TO AN AU THAT NEVER GOT RELEASED
WHILE NOT A MONSTER/WEREWOLF
THE ORIGINAL PLOT FOR HATTIE IN TLC’S PARENTS IS KINDA CLOSE TO THIS
ORIGINALLY THEY WERE GOING TO BE TIME TRAVELLERS/ DIMENSION HOPPERS
like okay okay i’m laughing Legit
So this was an au called “Cafe Latte and Broken dreams” it was actually one of my EARLIER Aus and I’m pretty sure if you dig deep enough into the 3000 posts I have you can find mention of it
But Eclipse was a rift walker who was closing rifts for Tim E. Thyme. She worked with Sena a twilight demon from a locked rift who was let out and is trying to make up for messing up royally in his own timeline.
While they are looking for rifts, they play as humans and stuff and Eclipse works as a dog walker since she doesn’t have a proper degree and a normal job would be bad since she doesn’t “exist” in those times really
while walking a dog she actually barreled into Arulius who was studying and avoiding his phone cuz his fiance is hella clingy. She offers to treat him to coffee as an apology and they go to Dead Bird Cafe
Then after he has to go to class and she has to meet her ‘brother’ after she takes the dog home
After class he sees her going to talk to his teacher and it turns out they knew him from an alternate dimension and then when reversing time with an altered hourglass to get the rift to appear, she accidentally touched Ru and dragged him in with them and now he’s been displaced from time and his own dimension. He ends up wanting to stick around but unlike Eclipse who was born able to handle dimension hopping he isn’t so it does slowly take a toll and he gets Horizon sickness.
This is another world from TLC’s Sena and one of his earlier ones from when he was younger
But I could defs see that happening; more so with the lore I have built to the horizon; like if she’s unable to open the gates and he got dragged with her; if he’s a normal living human he’s a prime target for horizon lurkers and demons seeking a vessel to escape to the ‘real world’ and she’d have to work hard to prevent that
and more so this could work with a few of the plots I have with them as kids; instead of him feeding her he removed her shackles and spoke kindly with her despite her not being human. Then him getting stuck in the horizon and her having to help keep him safe and not let her twin brother’s know he’s there and trying to not let him get ‘horizon sickness’ (though he gets it but doesn’t tell her to not make her worried) and keep him from getting possessed or eaten and just they have fun running around in the sky, and over the shattered temples but when the time to go back comes---
oh this is deliciously angst potential anon!!

OOUGGH IM SO GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE THINKING ABOUT SEA OF THIEVES HLVRAI AU... PLEASE !!!! PLEASE PLEASE SHARE UR IDEAS I WANNA HEAR THEM SO BAD
OHHH ANON YOU HAVE SAVED MY FUCKING LIFE WITH THIS ASK THANK YOU SO MUCH
SO !! i barely have anything yet bc i just had this fucking brain blast like an hour ago but. here are my Thoughts so far:
so the very first thing i tried to think of was like. what everyone is? i did my best w this but i am so fuckin open to ideas..... i don’t know shit!
the easiest answer right off the bat was who the humans are (or at least the pirates who appear to be human) in this. we got the science team as the pirate crew—gordon, tommy, bubby, and coomer! they are sailing the seas and maybe they are not doing a very good job of it but it’s fine. it’s Fine
the second easiest answer was benrey’s situation. we got skeletons fuck yeah. benrey got some of that curse uh oh! however w benrey’s situation that’s more like... sometimes being a skeleton rather than just steadily turning into one, i thought maybe the curse fucked up on him? maybe it’s like. he’s only half cursed to just sometimes be a skeleton but he can also look human again too. i don’t fucking know. also OH SHIT BENREY HAS TO BE NOT HUMAN UHJHHHHHHHH fuck it guess he’s part ancient now too. i guess. shit i’ll have to spend more time on him but this is.. the gist
next we got uhh forzen babey. i’ll be honest i’m not too confident on this one. i had the vague idea that maybe he’s a mermaid? although whether he’s one of the mermaids that steals sunken pirates and turns them into mermaids or one of the mermaids who was turned into a pirate i can’t really decide. i mean the pirates-turned-mermaids are always helpful in game, and forzen. well. Isn’t, but the mermaid-mermaids live so far deep that they’re never seen? so i don’t know. but he’s out there.... in the ocean....... somewhere....... waiting for me to have more brain power to answer this
it’s darnold time! i’ll be honest i also don’t have many ideas for this guy. i thought maybe he’s got something to do with the order of souls? that’s vaguely related to potions right? sage darnold with the oos eyes curse and he reads the fuckin skull juices to help out the crew with their voyages..... i think? there are other options too but this is the one that jumped out at me the most!
GREGORY MAN. the man himself. SO I GOT TWO POSSIBILITIES HERE FOR THIS GUY. what i can’t decide on is how much of canon sot i want to be canon in this au... mainly, the stuff abt the pirate lord. i got two options here, one of which is that ramsey still exists as the pirate lord and he hangs out doing mostly the same shit he does in canon, and gman is like. an ancient who stuck around the sea of thieves for whatever reason? which would make tommy a descendant of the ancients too, hence why i specified earlier that all the pirates in the crew might not be human..... EITHER THAT OR gman is the pirate lord and ramsey fuckin uh doesn’t exist in the au. and i CANNOT for the life of me decide which i like better. ANY HELP APPRECIATE HERE PLS
OH ALSO I FORGOT SUNKIST HE’S A MONKEY THAT TOMMY HAS AND HE CAN DO COOL TRICKS AND EVERYONE LOVES HIM. HE’S IMMORTAL SOMEHOW. DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT
THEN. it’s tim,e for “how the fuck did everyone get past the shroud into the sot”
i think no matter who the pirate lord is in this au they’d have no problems letting pretty much anyone in honestly. ramsey just kinda says “oh you washed up unconscious on the shores of old sailor’s isle? cool let me just not ask any questions and part the shroud for you real quick ok bye” and honestly i can’t imagine gman would be much different—although he’d probably be more cryptic abt it than ramsey is
SO. GORDOS. i feel like him coming to the sot was a last resort of sorts. he feels lost in life, unsure what his goal is or where he’s going, and he hears of this mystical sea that nobody who enters ever leaves but apparently there’s adventure and treasure and wonder there so he’s like fuck it, i’ve got nothing else to do and goes there hoping to find some sort of purpose. and find it he does :)
tommy time! i feel like whatever brought him here had to be partially related to his dad? either he’s just There bc. well. his dad’s the fuckin pirate lord, or gman’s all cryptid abt being an ancient and left tommy to sort of grow up in the sot on his own while gman kept a distant eye on him, just so tommy wouldn’t find out too much abt being an ancient or whatever. uh. so he’s pretty familiar w the world of sot and all its wacky magic shit!
(actual sot lore question here bc this is smth i don’t know—does all the magic that happens in sea of thieves happen beyond the shroud? i wonder if the rest of the world also has skeletons and giant sea monsters and magic and shit or if it’s just inside the sea of thieves...... hmmm for this au i’m gonna assume that all magic is something unique to the sea of thieves and doesn’t happen beyond the shroud)
The Bubby. honestly i like the idea that bubby came to the sot just to like... get away from the outside world? like maybe he’s on the run from something............ this is very very vague in my mind and is extremely subject to change but i like the whole “I’M LEAVING THIS WORLD!” thing as bubby being like fuck the regular world i’m going into the flesh eating devil shroud and nobody can stop me. and then he did
coomer. the man himself. i think coomer came to the sot searching for adventure! and more to learn! he’s always looking to broaden his horizons and where else to go but to the mystical sea of thieves when looking for new experiences? coomer is just here to have a good time :)
UH i think darnold already existed in the sot... he just sorta Lives There... there are npcs who just fucking were born and raised there right. like tasha was in the sot at age 4 so it makes sense right?? darnold just live here and he helps get the crew from the outside world familiar with the sot!
FORZEN has been in the sot for ages—either he’s always been here as a mermaid or he got turned into one so long ago and he’s just been getting angrier and angrier w it every year he’s trapped here. he barely remember why he came anymore but god does he regret it. :(
gman either way just kind of Is There huh..... as the pirate lord i honestly can’t imagine his origin being much different than ramsey’s? like he just makes friends w the ancients like hey what’s up i like this sea. my sea now. or he Is an ancient and just fucking chills there. whatever
OK THAT’S MOSTLY IT FOR WHAT I HAVE FOR TECHNICAL STUFF WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT..... HERE ARE SOME OTHER FUN BITS I THOUGHT OF:
bubby discovers firebombs and Uh Oh. Uh Oh Everyone Watch Out Bubby’s Got Fire Powers Now. he only accidentally sets the ship on fire SOMETIMES it’s FINE. (also his favorite region is the devil’s roar. unsurprisingly. he likes the chaos it brings)
bubby and tommy + coomer as well are agents of chaos in general. they don’t follow the fuckin Rules and it makes gordon’s life a living hell.
bubby: look gordon i dug up some grubs! gordon: cool man, put those in the barrel and we can use them to fish late- bubby: (shoving the grubs in his mouth) gordon: BUBBY NO WHAT THE FUCK DON’T EAT TH coomer: oh, what a good idea, bubby! i am feeling quite hungry myself! (also starts eating worms) gordon: I’M COOKING DINNER AT THE CAMPFIRE RIGHT NOW PLEASE DON’T tommy: oh are the worms okay to eat? i wonder what they taste like gordon: NO STOP benrey, shoving worms in gordon’s face: eat worms? eat worms now please?
coomer finds out how to launch himself out of a cannon and he becomes unstoppable. the crew is attacked by an enemy ship and everyone’s like “oh fuck everyone get to the cannons!” and they go there to find coomer fucking launching himself directly onto the enemy ship, and he kills their entire crew in seconds. by the time he mermaids back to his ship everyone is fucking stunned silent and coomer is just like “well, that takes care of that! let’s get back on course, gentlemen!” and since then they just fucking fire coomer at people like a weapon whenever they get attacked by other pirates or skeletons. It Always Works
UH AND I THINK THAT’S KIND OF WHAT I HAVE SO FAR? i might be forgetting something but this post is long enough as is......
IF ANYONE HAS ANYTHING TO ADD FEEL FREE!!! i love sea of thieves so fuckin much man... and i didn’t even TOUCH on anything like any of the reaper’s bones shit which i would be interested in looking at getting involved in this au somehow...... i will probably come back to this if anyone else is interested !! otherwise that’s all i got for now!!!! thank you so much for asking anon!!!!!

It assumes a lot of background knowledge of AA1-AA5. Taking place three days after the end of AA5, Athena is hanging around in the Prosecutor's Office waiting for Simon when she runs into Miles Edgeworth. He unexpectedly reveals that they have something in common — they were both led to believe that they killed one of their own parents. But as they're talking about it, and as Edgeworth talks about Phoenix Wright, something seems off. Athena senses discord in his voice. And once she realizes that Edgeworth has some misgivings about being ""just friends"" with Wright, she does the only logical thing — enlist all their co-workers in a plot to set them up. (Also Apollo talks to Wright about Edgeworth/DL-6, this is all right before Christmas so Phoenix visits Edgeworth and they analyze his childhood trauma through the lens of tort law and nearly kiss (?), Phoenix and Edgeworth are very much in love but in denial about it, lots of scenes and moments to choose from! Hopefully I'll finish this one day.)"

That’s an interesting prompt! I’m going to modify it a little, and have this be a AU divergence from Chapter 38.
-
"Look, Jon, you seem pretty lucid now. Forget about going to go talk to Jude; just get as far away from here as you can."
Jon sighed. "I couldn't even if I wanted to, and I don't want to. Thank you for caring. Really. But I'm all right. I'm not being coerced or controlled," Jon said, then smiled bitterly. "Well, not by Martin, at any rate. And if you still don't believe me, then you can just remember that I'm a monster, too. You don't need to feel badly for monsters. Now, go. Stay at the hotel, consider it a vacation. By the day after tomorrow, I'll be back. ...or they'll at least likely have found my smouldering corpse."
Tim looked like he wanted to say something else, but just sighed and got to his feet, taking the offered money. "Try not to die."
"I'll do my best. Thank you, Tim."
-
When Jon stepped outside of the Institute, a hand wrapped around his arm and yanked him down a side street. Jon instinctively tried and failed to pull away from the grip, and instead had to stumble along to avoid being dragged across the ground.
"Let go of m-- Tim?" Jon asked.
"Shut it. We're getting out of here, both of us," Tim replied, not slowing.
"What? What are you talking about?"
"I'm not going to just leave you here with that thing, especially not now that I know what it's been doing to you."
"That thing-- you mean Martin? Martin isn't doing anything to me, Tim."
"No, it isn't Martin, and you still thinking that it is him is a pretty clear sign that it's been messing with your head. You're already planning on defying it right now, so that probably means it’s loosed its grip a bit. You probably won’t get a better chance than this to get away, not after it realizes that you’ve been managing to act independently. So we need to go, now.”
“So you’re saying that, in order to protect my free will, you’re going to kidnap me?” Jon asked flatly.
“It’s not… Fine. You know what? Sure. If that’s what it takes, then yes.” Tim said, and continued to drag Jon away.
-
“So what now? Do you even have a plan?” Jon asked, as they sat in the train compartment. “You know that we can’t stay away from the Institute forever.”
“Hopefully, we won’t have to. It seems like whatever grip it has is weakening, a bit. I figure it might wear off, and then... we can work out what to do from there,” Tim replied.
“And if it doesn’t wear off?”
Tim shrugged. “I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. Maybe if we’re gone for long enough, the thing will get bored and move on.”
“Martin isn’t just going to move on, Tim. He’s going to be worried about me. You should give me back my mobile; we should at least let him know that--”
“No. We aren’t talking to that thing. You said it can do its mind control shit over the phone. Not gonna be risking that.”
Jon let out a long, exasperated sigh and slumped in his seat. “This is a terrible plan, you must know that.”
Tim set his jaw and shrugged. “If nothing else, it’ll at least be a period of time where the two of us aren’t being manipulated as a part of some evil, spooky plan. Where you aren’t subjected to whatever the hell that thing has been doing to you. If a delay is all I can cause, then a delay is what I’ll settle for.”
Jon let out a humorless huff of a laugh. “You know, I think you’re the first person to follow through on a threat to force me onto a vacation.”
“Maybe if someone had done it sooner, you wouldn’t be caught in a web.”
“Maybe. But this is the path that I am on now. And I’m not caught in any web of Martin’s.”
“Sure,” Tim replied, and lapsed into silence.
Jon stared out the window and considered his options. This could only ever be a temporary situation, and as much as Jon itched to get back to his research, escaping back to the Institute would probably cause more problems than it solved. Tim was desperate, and angry, and he likely felt that he had nothing left to lose. Escaping would lead to either Jon being dragged back and held under closer scrutiny, or force a confrontation between Tim and Martin. Tim might try to hurt Martin, or drive Martin to act in self-defence. It was unlikely to end well for either of them. But if Jon stayed, maybe he could talk Tim around. In the worst case scenario, they would be back at the Institute within two weeks or so anyway.
Martin would be worried, but he could take care of himself. Jon could try to get a message to him after Tim dropped his guard a little.
-
Jon changed his mind. Tim was clearly trying to murder him.
“You’re not supposed to roll the kayak like that!” Tim called, as Jon sputtered and shook the water out of his eyes.
“Tell that to the waves!” he yelled back. “This is an absurd pastime and I never should have let you talk me into it!”
“Don’t be like that! You’re doing great, boss!” Tim replied with a laugh.
Jon grumbled, but he still couldn’t help but wonder when was the last time that he had genuinely heard Tim laugh.
-
Jon woke up feeling awful. The feeling had been building for the last few days, but now it had really hit him. He was tired, and shaky, and a headache was beginning to pound through his skull. He groaned and rolled into a miserable huddle.
“You all right?” Tim asked from the other side of the hotel room.
“No,” Jon replied. “I think it’s… we must have been away from the Archives for too long.”
“That’s weird. I feel fine,” Tim said. “I wonder… you said you belonged to the Eye, right? Like, proper belong, not just sort of shackled to it like the rest of us.”
“That’s my understanding, yes,” Jon replied, trying to focus.
“I wonder if being around you is like being in the Archives. If you’re considered an extension of it now, or something.”
“If I am, why am I feeling like this?”
“I’m not sure. Maybe you’re just coming down with something normal, like a cold?”
“This doesn’t feel like a cold. It feels like… like I’m running on empty.”
“Then maybe you need stories. Horrors, like the rest of that place.”
“A statement. I’ve got some kind of a… dependence, now?”
“It’s a possibility.”
“I… I need to go back, Tim.”
Tim sighed. “Suppose it never could have lasted, could it?”
“You knew that as well as I did.”
“What about Martin? Are you still…?”
“In love? Yes. Brainwashed, no, because I never was brainwashed. I don’t know how to convince you of that,” Jon grumbled, unable to come up with a more convincing argument through the discomfort.
“This was all for nothing, then. Story of my life, I guess,” Tim said, apparently to himself. “Well, it’ll all be over soon. I’ll get us packed up.”
-
They were making their way back to the train station when a voice startled Jon out of his half-daze.
“Jon!”
“Martin?” Jon turned to see Martin just down the perpendicular street. There was a brief moment where they just stared at each other. Then the moment broke and Jon rushed forward to meet Martin.
“Jon, get away from him!” Tim exclaimed, but Jon didn’t slow.
Martin ignored Tim entirely, closing the remaining distance between them in several long strides and bundling Jon into his arms. "I found you. You’re all right. You, you are all right, aren’t you?"
"I’m fine. A bit… hungry, though,” Jon replied, wrapping his arms around Martin and nuzzling in close.
Martin’s grip tightened on Jon a bit. “He hasn’t been giving you food?” he asked, his voice dangerously soft.
“No, he has. It’s not… I need the statements, now, I think. Part of what I am.”
“We’ll get you back to the Institute, then. Get you sorted out,” Martin said, cupping Jon’s cheek with one hand and touching his forehead to Jon’s. “I was worried about you.”
 “I know. I’m sorry, I just…”
“It’s not your fault. Tim’s the one who…” Martin trailed off and shook his head before hugging Jon again.
“So. Should I expect to be taken care of here, or are you going to wait until Jon’s out of sight before you do it? Don’t really see why you would bother, but maybe lying is easier than just making him forget,” Tim said.
Martin reluctantly loosened his grip on Jon. “What?”
“Not too hard to figure out what’s coming next. You’re a monster, and I took your property.”
“Tim, I’m not… I mean, I, I am a little angry with you, but I understand why you acted the way you did. You were trying to look after Jon. I’m not exactly crazy about the fact that you decided that kidnapping was the best way to go about things, but I’m not going to hurt you.”
“Right. So later it is then. Good to know.”
Martin sighed. "Do you happen to know what Jon can do, Tim?" he asked.
“Do how?”
“He can make people answer his questions. You know, supernaturally. Go on, Jon. Ask him something.”
Jon blinked, not sure where this conversation had gone. “I, ah, what, what made you want to join the Institute, Tim?” he asked.
“Thought it might be a way to figure out what happened to Danny,” Tim replied, then his eyes widened. “What the--”
“There, see. You can’t help but answer. Now ask me if I forced you into this, Jon.”
“Oh. Right, that’s a good idea. Martin, did you in any way coerce me into this relationship?”
“No, never.”
“Did you supernaturally alter my emotions?”
“No.”
“There you go, then,” Jon said, letting go of Martin to turn to face Tim. “That should clear things up.”
“I don’t… How can I believe you? How can I believe any of this?” Tim asked.
“I mean, you don’t have to trust either of us, if you really don’t want to,” Martin replied. “But not trusting anything, not being able to rely on anyone, it’s not good for you. You don’t need to trust us, but you should trust someone. We aren’t your enemies, Tim. And, and if I really am as bad as you seem to think, what difference do you think that distrust is going to make, anyway?”
“I…” Tim trailed off, looking tired.
“Here,” Jon walked back toward Tim and reached out a hand. “Would you let me…?”
Tim swallowed and nodded minutely. Jon took him by the hand and drew him toward where Martin still stood. The both of them hugged Tim together, who was tense but unresisting.
“I can’t promise that things will be okay. They probably won’t be. But you’re not alone,” Jon said.
“Mhm,” Tim replied noncommittally, but he sagged a little bit into the hold and rested his head on Jon’s shoulder.
