What do you mean he's not eldritch?
What if all of the members of the Bat Family other than Tim Drake were secretly eldritch abominations?
They all work very hard at pretending to be human, and they've even gotten pretty good at passing. They can even mostly avoid the uncanny valley when in their civilian identities. There was a heck of a learning curve, but they've gotten things figured out for the most part.
Enter: Tim Drake
Weird, poorly socialized, probably autistic Tim Drake
The Bats think they've encountered a fellow eldritch being in disguise, and one that seems like he could use some help blending in. Naturally, they're quick to welcome him into their fold. Jason is delighted to take his turn at being a big brother mentor.
It takes a comedically long time for anyone to realize something's up because there is an absurd amount of overlap between stuff you need to know for masking and stuff you need to know to pass as human.
Meanwhile, Tim is amazed that the Bats have apparently decided he's cool enough to hang out with. It's like something out of his daydreams. They even have good advice for him on problems he hadn't known how to ask about. They are so patient and understanding about it, too. They never get annoyed with him for not already knowing. They also seem to be okay with the bits of weirdness he can't change.
Just weird kid Tim getting bundled into an incredibly helpful and supportive found family of eldritch entities. They're all going to get a good grade in human-ing, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve.
...
I imagine the Bats are various different kinds of eldritch abominations because they're still adopted. They look wildly different when not in human form.
Bruce is a mass of... shadows? Smoke? Something dark and formless that shifts and flows in different ways depending on his mood.
Dick kind of looks like a pile of owls that is also somehow a single body.
Barbara is a spiral galaxy with stars that are also eyes somehow?
Jason is a solid-looking mass of muscle with six strong legs, a thick coat of shaggy hair, a mouth that opens much further along his body than it seems like it should, and even more teeth than you'd expect a mouth that size to have.
Stephanie Brown is kind of like an incredibly dense storm system with purple glitter.
Cassandra is a silhouette through which undiscovered nebulae can be seen. What she is a silhouette of depends on her mood.
Tim, they have only ever seen in his meticulously well-crafted human form. He's really good at that part even if he needed some help with the behavioral bits.
Damian is half human. Talia saw a mass of living darkness trying really hard to pretend to be a man and decided she was into that.
...
Dick: So, eye contact is actually pretty simple once you have the formula figured out. You need to cycle between looking at the other person and looking at something else at the appropriate frequency. If you look at them too much it will come across as staring. If you look away for too long they'll think you're not paying attention to them. You'll need to experiment to figure out the appropriate frequency.
Tim: *frets*
Jason: You don't have to look straight at their eyes, just in the general direction of their face.
Tim: Oh! I can do that!
...
I think Eldritch Bruce having history with the league of assassins in a markedly less inentional way than Canon would be funny. Like, you'd think an encounter between an eldritch abomination and a cult would be deliberate on someone's part, but no.
Bruce was still young and unskilled at differentiating between normal and abnormal human behavior.

Universes Contained (dp x dc)
Barbara was coming on her sixth day of staying glued to her screens, taking a nap here and there and eating whichever snacks she’d remembered to bring. First, it had been a Birds of Prey emergency which had kept her up for four days, then Dick had called in a favour for a case, and she’d gotten roped into being his on-call support. She’d used the little downtime to continue her monitoring of the hidden monitoring devices squirreled away in different evil lairs and coming up to her actual office and do some work as Head Librarian.
In short, sleep had been scarce and as she rolled down the ramp of the side entrance to the Gotham City Public Library - because management still hadn’t put one in front despite her many reminders - the fatigue felt like a physical weight dragging her eyelids down. The ground was wet from the recent rainfall and Barbara had the absent thought that it would be a pain to clean up the marks she was about to leave in her apartment. She reached the end of the ramp, and just as she was about to get out of the slight dip that hid the ramp, she saw something out of the corner of her eyes.
Before she even turned her head, the hair on her nape rose and something like disquiet spread. As she did turn, her eyes landed on a shadowed corner of the alley. In the low light of the distant street lamps, she could see water faintly gleaming amassed in a deep and unfathomable puddle. As she squinted towards the flooded depression she felt as if the glow was in fact coming from within rather than reflected. She was proven right in the next moment as the water started to lighten to a neon, acidic green. It was as little more than a reflex to the damned color that Barbara reached for her batons she kept within her wheelchair armrests. As she closed her hands over the batons, the glow started to die down. Still, she waited, motionless, a few controlled heartbeats going by. A moment passed, with no sound except Barbara’s own almost silent breath.
Then, there was a ripple in the puddle. Her grip tightened.
And then from the water emerged - something.
It was unbounded, limitless and so monstruously massive. Barbara had seen the stars from up close, or at least, closer than most would in their lifetime, but this was more than stars, more than galaxies. This entity, this thing was universes condensed into an eye-searing form; infinite, yet contained. She could see stars, countless, dying, emerging, exploding and the gaping empty titanous space between each of them, stretching into incomprehensible distances. Pulsar, quasar, blitzar, she could see them all, infinitesimal amongst each other and colossal within themselves.
Barbara could not look away, her own body feeling far and distant as she drank in the impossible sights. She didn’t know how long she stood still, transfixed, before the being shifted, and all the cosmos shifted with it.
Then, like an imploding star, all its infinite edges started to collapse into themselves. There was a sudden, bright light that had Barbara blinking away, half-wondering if the blindness was permanent only for her sight to come back within seconds. And as it did, her eyes landed on a small and - absurdly human form.
Because where the impossible entity had been now stood a small pale teenager wearing worn jeans and a white T-shirt.
“Whew,” she could hear him breathe out in an improbably human voice. “That still feels weird.” Then, with a ruffle of his deep black hair, he skipped out of the alley, not once noticing the frozen vigilante.
As the being got out of sight, Barbara realized she had not breathed through the experience and she took in a much-needed gulp of air. She sagged into her chair weakly, absently noticing the slight shaking in her hands.
Apparently, there was a new arrival to the city.
Barbara let out a slightly hysterical giggle. Let it never be said Gotham was boring.

Rambles and small ideas for a Batfamily Bloodborne AU
(It is not that cohesive I am sorry and I was forced to make some lore changes. Especially with how it begins. Don't beat me up about it.)
Gotham gets enveloped by a dark shroud that covers the whole city and makes it near imperishable, let alone letting people pass through. The city is forever shrouded in a dark loom with merely a everlasting full moon shining upon them. With no sun and the isolation, it soon takes a tool on the people. They grow sickly and depressed, if not that they become near deranged and highly irritable. Crime rates in the already vicious city steadily increase.
There is a sudden shift then - for the worse. A blood moon occurs and people begin to change. Their bodies twist, grow and even rot away. Meanwhile their humanity seems to decrease. A few attempt to research the phenomenon and hold them captive in facilities like Arkham Asylum or Blackgate Prison, however those are halted when the victims fully cease being humans and transform into eldritch monsters that lash out when the old blood gets overused by the Healing Church. A mass outbreak occurs and the monsters roam the city from then on.
Tim Drake is still in the position of the CEO Wayne Enterprise after the mysterious disappearance of the Gotham Prince (Bruce Wayne) and openly funding doctors and scholars in his tower to research their Gotham phenomenon and the monsters. He takes over the Role of Provost Willem and does not shy away from finding out the truth by any means necessary. He isolates himself because of his hunger for knowledge and shuts people out.
Researchers of his discover the tombs/Labyrinth and the usage of the old blood when coming across Ebrietas, some desperately trying to change his opinion and use blood healing to attain a new beginning. Tim is forced into a position where he needs to give up on his constant desire of evolution and progress, which goes against his nature, for the sake of the people and instead how far he can go sacrificing himself in order to attain knowledge that makes him look beyond the "now". His good-hearted start for the peace of humans turns into a obsession to achieve something which is beyond the capability of a mere human.
Damian has been put in a dire position, a child that hears and dreams of the voices of those beyond that nobody else can comprehend. With his artistic skills he puts down the words after transcribing them, he holds the Role of Runesmith Caryll. He desperately attempts to hold on to sanity as he hides himself away from all prying eyes despite the praise of those around him. He only ever hears the words of the Great Ones now.
Two people Tim trusted most "betrayed" him, Tam and Cass that take on the Role of Laurence as his trusted students that end up leaving him. Cass knew that Stephanie must secretly be alive and after having grown immensely close to her not-sister-not-lover, she could not live with herself if she didn't rescue one she loved. She had lost too many already and followed Tam, along with others. Tam had noble intentions much like Cass, although Tam held more resentment for Tim. Her father was affected by a terrible illness that was since then called the Ashen Blood and even after dozens of years where he was loyal to the Wayne family he did not wish to use the old blood to heal him. He actively even discouraged her. Tam gave her goodbyes one day to never see Tim again and began the Healing Church. To her disappointment Dr. Leslie Thompkins was not one of those that followed after them and when the blood failed to heal her father, instead actively killing him, it were Tim and Leslie that got blamed. Since then Tam began desiring evolving into something greater through the use of the blood in order to bring him back. While Cass worked as a blood minister (later on white Church hunter), Tam focused later on at the work of seeking contact with the Great Ones and became the leading figure of the Choir.
Leslie Thompkins suffers a cruel fate. Her loyalty to save the people and towards Tim cost her greatly and when Tim gets the epiphany that more eyes are needed to understand the Great Ones and evolve, she is one of those that get affected and turn into one of the many hundred eyed monsters roaming the tower and trapping Tim there.
The Healing Church grows in power as their influence in Gotham rises because of their special infected blood that heals those in dire need should they come to them. Gotham citizen began to practically worship the Healing Church when gods they previously believed them did not act and show mercy, others turned away out of fear and that soon enough began to rule the city. The Healing Church becomes a belief, a bloody beacon of hope in their endless night...a cult.
When the sickness of the Ashen Blood spreads the people falsely believe in The Healing Church and that they will save them. Instead the bridges connecting the lands to each other get torn down when they least expect it and watch on as the other half gets overrun by beasts and the ravaging sickness alike. To make sure nobody ever passes through the remains get bordered up. Tim remains on the other half in his Tower overlooking the raging City with a faraway gaze.
They mainly reside in the abandoned underground of Gotham and at the edge of the Bowery, planted right at the opposite site of the Wayne Tower, and gets called the Labyrinth as the layout changed under the influence of the shroud. In time the Healing Church began to change and it split into various branches, the Choir, the school of Mensis and the Hunters of the Workshop that evolve into the Church Hunters.
Jason and Dick had been getting Damian out of old Gotham when the great fire happened and they were unable to return to their left behind sibling. They desired to hid Damian from the Healing Church because of his connection to the Great Ones and there was no better hiding spot than directly under their nose. As such they've become hunters for the Church.
One faithful day Barbara after a long search discovers Damian when he is having one of his seizures, when he dreams of the Great Ones, and she desires to help him. She has been kept in the dark as she had been stuck in the Clocktower until the Healing Church came to free her, which causes her to make unwise decisions by mistakingly trusting Tam and Cass. Unknowing of what occurred with the lack of still functioning technology she was part of the School of Mensis. However upon touching the Great Ones overwhelm her mind and her sanity crumbles. Barbara holds the Role of Micolash. After she becomes aware of herself again she causes the School of Mensis to break away from the Church and just like Tim to find and use an unbiblical cord of the Great Ones.
Stephanie was one of the few that broke through the shroud even when nobody knows why she was permitted through. Trusting her idol and not-lover her ignorance of the state of matter makes her join Barbara. The use of the Cord brings blocked memories back to Stephanie as she recalls that she faked her death because of her pregnancy, just shortly before the shroud fell over Gotham. In fact she does not recall what she had done those months outside of Gotham, neither were the supposed baby was. That is when the Great Ones enlighten her when she connects to Mergo. That child was never born as she went through horrible complications early on and lost it, although there was no body. The child was not of human descent, but of a Great One. Broken apart by this knowledge the Cord pulls Stephanie, Barbara and others of the School into a nightmare state where they remain forever trapped while their physical bodies die. She is the Queen of Yharnam.
Alfred was thought to have died that night when the Great fire happened as he had been away from the Wayne Tower, yet neither with Damian in the Manor. However, as it turns out Alfred had gone to seek out Tam and Cass in hopes to change their minds. When he thought all his wards dead when the land was burning there was no other way than to stay with his last remaining: Cass. And as someone who only ever knew how to work through grief by helping others, he had become the leader of the old Hunters Workshop. He was Gehrmann. Still caught in his own grief the purpose was ripped from him again and he was left alone, a mistake. Like many he called upon the Great Ones and as such started the dream, the start of it all with a promise that needed to be fulfilled.

I've seen people do their own take of the batman series and redo them to their liking (which is very cool and i love it when ppl do that) and some of them do joker as this interdimensional eldritch entity of chaos, while that IS fun and can lead to very creative scenarios i feel like that kinda misses... the point of joker? His whole thing is that even though he does horrible inhumane things and actively tries to lose his humanity, he is simply that. Human. He is always running away from his past to achieve "godhood" (as he sees batman as), his whole thing is that even as he tries to be a monster he is still a human deep down. What do you think of this subject? Do you agree or do you view things differently? I would love to hear your take!
That's already very well said, Anon! I entirely agree. And I think we've already gotten horror entity, creature-like Joker who's somehow also human with Snyder's version of the character. No one can deny he was terrifying, but also it's impossible not to see his moments of humanity and weakness. Such a good balance. It's why he's probably my favorite version of Joker. It's such a pity not many writers get this about him -- the fact he's choosing to be a monster in the face of his traumatic past, the way Bruce is choosing to be a hero.
Though I do think this is more complicated than it appears. How long can you pretend to be something else without actually becoming it, after all? Comics have started with a goofier, lighter portrayal of Joker, only to have him go darker and darker, and that makes sense from a psychological point of view (even though it's probably not what they intended). A lot of the more horrific acts he's commited (crippling Barbara, killing Jason, shooting Gordon's wife) are ways of escalating -- ways of persevering in being a monster, insurance that he can never go back. That Bruce would hate him too much to even think to try to help, anymore. Joker has got humanity left, but the more time passes and the worst he chooses to make himself, the more drowned out it becomes. If in the past we got moments of empathizing with others (as limited as those moments were) or of emotional weakness in differing circumstances, in current comics the only person who seems to be able to elicit any kind of vulnerability from him is Batman.
This is why I consider time a very important factor, for both Bruce and Joker. The more they wear these constructed identities, the more they become them, and the harder it would be to let go of these ways of dealing with trauma, or to even conceive of letting them go to begin with. It's all very tragic, ultimately, because it inevitably ends with them dying together. To use Joker's own simile in The Killing Joke... the more time passes, the less likely it becomes that the two inmates will even try to escape the insane asylum, flashlights be damned.

Velma Dinkley, Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, and a pup named Scooby-Doo are the core members of Mystery Incorporated, a mobile crime-solving organization, more commonly referred to as “The Scooby Gang” or “Those Meddling Kids (and their DOG).” While generally involved in what essentially amount to real estate disputes and low level corporate theft revolving around individuals dressed in elaborate monster costumes (inspired by the color vestments of actual metahuman and alien criminals), the group is fairly well regarded by the wider superhero community for staving off alien invasions, eldritch incursions, zombie cat-people, demon summonings, and what have you. In fact, Mystery Inc famously rubs elbows with all manner of celebrities, being one of the few groups that can say they’ve worked directly with both Bruce Wayne and Batman (truly opposite ends of the spectrum, as far as guest stars go, I’m sure you’d agree.) There’s some speculation that they were the inspiration behind Batman Incorporated.
Of the individual members, each is fairly accomplished in their own regard. Doctor Velma Dinkley has a variety of degrees and patents to her name, including a close call with some nanotech. Fred Jones is the adopted son of Don Jones aka Professor Huh?, the Freak of Crystal Cove, and a beneficiary of Velma’s nanotech research. His childhood altercations with the Herring siblings--Red and Rose--were actually some of the group’s earliest cases when they were still children. Daphne Blake--of the Gotham Blakes--is the fashion conscious bank roller of the team and their other best fighter (being more technically proficient than Shaggy, but lacking his raw power) having trained with her good friends Barbara Gordon and Kathy Duquesne. Shaggy, while always a core member, became their powerhouse after happening on a crystal and uh...well, eating it. He seems to black out and act on pure instinct when accessing even half a percent of his raw power. The League has made a note to keep an eye on him, either as a threat or a potential recruit, as well as the relationship between Norville and the so-called “Shaggy Man.”
Scoobert Doo--Scooby--is of course the group’s unofficial namesake. A great dane who can speak and has roughly human intelligence, Scooby’s origins were initially a mystery, until multiple other dogs matching his description and intelligence were discovered. As they all recognized each other and seem to be related, Velma and Batman surmise that Scooby and his siblings and cousins are all related to a single, meta-canine with an unknown number of uplifted descendants. Among these, Scooby’s child Scrappy--though raised as his nephew by Scooby’s sister--is perhaps the clearest vision of this sub-species’ possible future. Kamandi--a human survivor of a future Great Disaster--even confused Scrappy for his friend, Doctor Canus, believing he had accidentally traveled back to a time too close to his own.

DC, stop de-aging Batgirls 2022!
For those not in the know,
When Barbara Gordon first debut'ed at Batgirl, she was ~5+ years older than Dick Grayson. This fact is important because it meant that, in Batman Beyond (cartoon), they revealed she and Bruce had dated it was not totally weird. Because she was *also* only about ~5 years younger than him.
(It was still weird. But they did use it to highlight the reason old!man Bruce was alone. Also Nightwing was married to Starfire in the comics at that time so.... idk).
When Cassandra Cain (aka Batgirl II, aka Black Bat, aka Orphan) first appeared in Gotham, she was seventeen. It was then later confirmed that she is just a *tad* older than Jason Todd.
Stephanie Brown (aka Spoiler, aka Robin IV, aka Batgirl III) arrived on page at 15, had a baby at 16 (coinciding with NML and Cass' first appearance), died at 17, and returned to go to college before taking up the Batgirl mantle. If time worked correctly, she would be ~19 or 20 ish.
But then... Well. Events occurred and its just now getting ironed out. And believe it or not, I'm not even going to talk about the later two Batgirls this time. No, this is a post about Barbara.
Look, I know that comics are inherently *bad at continuity* because of the shared universe. Every comic should be taken as the viewpoint of an unreliable narrator. Characters go from being good people to assholes and back. One characters 'funny quip' is a deeply offensive insult to someone else.
This is without touching the eldritch being that Tim Drake turned into when (around 2011-ish?) they (DC highest ups) decided that Robin both *had to be a teenager* and *had to be* Tim Drake. Which had (and has) reality warping effects. (The only Batclan member aging is Damian?! No, really. Go check. But this only applies when Tim is offscreen.)
But through all this, Babs remained the 'oldest' Batclan member. (Minus Bruce). Because she was not a 'viable' love interest she was allowed to go develop into an awesome character as Oracle. She kicked ass, took down international baddies, was a huge bitch to people sometimes, lost people, gained people, apologized, and became something like the Wine!Aunt of Wayne Manor.
She also lived in a Clocktower rigged to explode and *did explode it multiple times*. Like, Oracle became *as important* to the success of Batman and Robin as Alfred. And *more important* to the safety of Gotham than everyone that is not Batman (who only retains that title due to Justice League activities, really).
Then, well...
Unfortunately, I can find no better way to say it.
Barbara Gordon can walk again.
I'm not going to comment on whether this was a 'good' decision. Or if it ruined representation or improved it. (Both, from what I understand from the other commentaries I have read). But there is no denying *now* that what it did do was suddenly make her a 'viable love interest' again. (Yay ableism! /s)
This ripples out of course. Since Batman is full up on flirtations and fans would cry foul of a pairing between the two (see backlash from Batman Beyond), she was assigned to Nightwing. So now they are closer to the same age. So close, in fact, that they attended Prom together!! Isn't that sweet?
This also means that Babs is no longer *old enough* to be considered a true peer to Black Canary and Catwoman. She is no longer old enough to have had a hand in training 20-somethings. Oh no. So Cass gets turned into a true Wayne instead of Oracles' ward. And Steph gets deaged as well.
Its ableism. Its sexism. Babs should be allowed to date younger boytoys (Dick) without being turned into a youth (TM). She should be allowed to be ~30 and angry and smart and *tired*. The recent Batgirl comic run could have been the College Sorority run. Instead of a 3rd grade field trip.
But no.
Instead Babs has to be Dick's age because *gasp* who dates an *older woman* (Batboys, historically. Batman and Nightwing and Robins generally date older women).
The best thing about Oracle was that she was a bitch sometimes. That she got tired and angry and lashed out. Then *actually apologized and made it up to people*. She is not supposed to be a *nice* person. She is supposed to be *kind*. She is supposed to be the sort of person that puts a bat on her chest and proceeds to stand *so firmly* against Batman's bullshit that Bruce *gives up* trying to control the Batgirl mantle. She is supposed to be *older* than the twirp-Robin. As is tradition! (Becoming such when Cass and then Steph were older than their Robins).
I miss when writers understood that #highschool sweethearts, was not a requirements for #adult relationships.

So you want to play the Batfam in D&D?
Here’s some ideas for you—this party is unbalanced as heck, entirely human, and kind of a mess. I did this for Disney Princesses on another blog and am probably going to do more for other superhero teams at some point.
Bruce Wayne / Batman
Look, I feel like this man would be multiclassing as heck because he is That Extra. Depending on optimization and whether certain things matter more in your version of the bat, you might lean more heavily or entirely on one class more than another, but my main ideas for Bruce would be:
Barbarian—Path of the Totem Warrior. Use stats for Eagle but call it the Bat, or homebrew a Bat Totem.
Fighter—Champion, because Bruce hones his skills so heavily
Paladin—Now, I don’t see him as a heavy magic user, but Oath of Vengeance is pretty much his schtick, and he could use Gotham personified as a deity/a bat god or a similar being as his divine patron.
Rogue—Inquisitive, because he’s the World’s Greatest Detective guys.
Now, his background could be Noble, Folk Hero, or Haunted One, depending on what you choose to focus on backstory wise, but whatever you do for his background keep in mind that he is Rich as Hell so his wealth is going to factor in to how much he starts off with.
Alfred Pennyworth
The man takes really good care of the batfam, and though his background was British Military or spying if I recall, I would leave his class as Cleric—probably in the Life Domain, as he’s always the family’s rock and if they don’t make it to Leslie Thompkins’ clinic you can bet he’s the one helping them stitch each other up
Commissioner Gordon
Look, I know he’s not a vigilante, but he’s important to the Batfam and is on their side in the ways that matter. As a cop, I’d have him as a Paladin (Order of the Crown) or a fighter of some kind (maybe Battle Master?)
Dick Grayson / Nightwing
Dick would be—wait for it—a bard.  He grew up in a circus, remember?  But he would be College of Valor, imo, because he inspires the teams he leads and is a fierce fighter. If you want to multiclass him, I’d add Monk (Way of the Open Hand) as is useful.  As for background, I would lean into him as a Folk Hero, because Nightwing is respected among many circles, and back when he was Robin he was Boy Wonder after all.
Barbara Gordon / Oracle
*slams fist on desk* we need some spellcasters and you cannot tell me that Barbara Gordon would not make a good Divination wizard. Let’s face it, it matches the name perfectly.
Jason Todd / Red Hood
Well, if you ever cast Detect Undead in the room, Jason’s going to ping off on that, so yeah.  As for his class, Jason’s a fighter—definitely has the Firearms Specialist feat—though I can’t decide whether I would place him as a Brute (these new subclasses are interesting!) or an Eldritch Knight ultimately. Both fit into his undead black sheep of the family thing.
Cassandra Cain / Orphan
Okay so I would place Cass as some kind of Rogue—her stealth is known to be amazing, so perhaps a Scout, with maybe enough levels under the Fighter category to make her a Samurai, because of her assassin background.
Tim Drake / Red Robin
TIM why are you so d i f f i c u l t okay so I would make him a Battle Master fighter because of those other tool proficiencies and his intelligence would be higher than his wisdom because the boy is smart, but not necessarily able to transfer that knowledge to good decisions.
Stephanie Brown / Batgirl
Stephanie would definitely have a higher wisdom than intelligence for the opposite reasons of Tim—she means well, wants to make correct decisions, but doesn’t always know enough to do so.  I would place her as a rogue Scout because I’m reminded of her Spoiler days where she always had the intel on her dad to share, and she builds on that with the fam to maybe learn some wizardry from Barbara or fighting from Cass.
Duke Thomas / The Signal
One that I know little about, but I’m going to go ahead and call him an Oath of Devotion paladin with some potential aasimar traits, depending on how you handle his abilities.
Damian Wayne / Robin
Rogue Assassin to start, adding some levels of either monk or fighter based on his inspiration from Dick or Bruce.  Since he was Dick’s Robin, I’m inclined to actually give him some Monk levels, as he would not be impressed by the whole bard thing, but his fighting? Heck yeah.
Kate Kane / Batwoman
I believe she’d be a paladin, Oath of the Crown to start with, as she was military if I’m remembering her backstory correctly, but then later would turn to Oath of Vengeance as she intermingles with the family.
Selina Kyle / Catwoman
Um. Rogue thief.  With a criminal background and maxed out charisma. She’s probably the easiest to pick out for anyone—I hardly have to explain myself for her like I do others.
Harper Row / Bluebird
Probably a ranger; if I recall she is a sniper?  Gloom Stalker conclave, because Gotham and because she’s probably going to need the disguise spells to hide that very recognizable hair and keep her brother safe and out of the line of fire.
Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael
Okay, I know the least about Jean-Paul of the people on this list, but I’d actually leave him as a Scourge Aasimar (the angel name was too good to pass up) Oathbreaker Paladin.  It seems to fit him to some degree, and while I know little about him I understand that he breaks off from the family and goes crazy, so Oathbreaker works for me here.
Helena Bertinelli / Huntress
Ranger—and I bet you’ll never guess what conclave?  No? Hunter Conclave.  Yeah, real original. She’d probably take Horde Breaker and Uncanny Dodge when she levels to them.  Definitely a crossbow wielder, or hand crossbow depending on what your personal game allows.
Terry McGinnis / Batman
Terry is new-ish to the game, so I would have him be less extra than Bruce.  Probably a Champion fighter, with maybe some Artificer levels in there because Neo Gotham translates into battle magic tech for me—likely as an Artillerist.  His brother, Matt, as Robin, would probably just have the same classes.

Summary:  Gotham City has always been a place with a dark secret. Where every twenty seven years the reason for the plague of that corruption would awaken only to cause havoc and then vanish to be forgotten. An endless cycle. Not much changing. Except when Batman entered the picture. Changing this city forever. Bringing out costume heroes and villains alike. The Joker couldn't have been more delighted and intrigued, by this man who dresses up as one of his fears. Honestly, it was downright hilarious for the clown who just awoken from his long rest.

after all the TAZ i’ve been listening to lately, i can’t get the idea of an RPG/high fantasy gotham au out of my head.
oswald cobblepot is a warlock who has bargained away his soul for the patronage of a powerful eldritch creature who calls herself ms. mooney. ms. mooney hasn’t revealed her desired endgame yet, mostly content allowing oswald to chase after his own status and wealth, but she whispers to him while he sleeps, filling his dreams with blood-soaked vignettes of them, together, slaughtering the beloved king falcone and usurping his throne.
edward nygma is an eccentric wizard who has spent most of his life in solitude, poring over ancient tomes and conducting Science™ in state-of-the-art laboratories. his academic accomplishments are noted by the royal family and he’s recruited to instruct promising students in the schools of divination and transmutation. over his years of teaching, his research consumes him. he becomes obsessed with questions and answers. in his fervent pursuit of esoteric magics, he begins to dabble in necromancy. his compulsions cost his sweetheart kristen kringle her life, and he’s arrested & ostracised from his community when he’s caught trying to reanimate kringle’s corpse. he narrowly escapes the stockades and is forced to flee to the outer territories, where he meets a mysterious young warlock with a razor sharp tongue, vast ambitions, and a fascinating benefactor.
selina kyle, tabitha galavan, and barbara kean are a band of semi-legitimised outlaws known as the sirens. they own an upscale, highly profitable tavern called ‘the rose & whip’ where they racketeer weaponry and enchanted items. they cut the royal family a percentage of their earnings, and in return, the falcones keep their business on the up and up. the basement of the rose & whip transforms into a fight club when the sun goes down, overseen by royal cleric leslie thompkins. the mascot and champion fighter of the club is the barbarian solomon grundy.
jim gordon, harvey bullock, and lucius fox are all members of the royal guard. jim is becoming increasingly disillusioned by the corruption in the royal family, but harvey insists that gotham is a dangerous, wild kingdom that needs to be ruled with an iron fist, or all the territories will fall into chaos and be destroyed by their own peoples. lucius is just a brilliant wizardly cupcake (specialising in abjuration to better protect his allies) who wants to Do The Right Thing. he’s also responsible for some of the largest technological advancements of the last quarter century, like streamlining zeppelin design for quicker flight times and prototyping “intelligent armour” which is actually just enchanted plate mail that can respond and adapt to damage in the middle of battle
i’m still thinking over bruce (paladin whose parents were murdered in the machinations of a grand falcone conspiracy?), ivy (deadly, chaotic neutral druid who frequents the rose & whip’s fight club?), and sofia (princess and heir to the throne, a sugarplum on the surface, but actually so deeply entrenched in a web of manipulative political intrigue that not even her father knows the extent of it?)
anyway i’m a Big Nerd and these characters lend themselves so well to a fantasy setting guys  p l e ase im drowning in d20 and lotr soundtracks

JLA/Witchblade Vol. 1 No. 1 (December 2000)
Current Witchblade wielder Sara Pezzini comes to Gotham to visit her old friend Barbara Gordon, but a strange turn of events has the most powerful eldritch weapon in existence jumping from Sara to take control of Barbara, who just happens to be the JLA's Oracle! Now the Justice League has the difficult task of fighting one of its own! But with members like Wonder Woman and the Huntress among the JLA, and the Witchblade being drawn to female hosts, the League might be serving up exactly what the Witchblade needs for its own wicked ends!

If you find a vigilante in the dumpster
by lunamugetsu
The plan was simple, Jazz and her now de aged brother would go lay low in Gotham, act as a mother-son duo. Wait as Danny heals up by absorbing the ambient ectoplasm leaking from the city and Vlad gives the green light that he has a safe place they could stay. Plus with the blessing from the Ghost of Gotham and knowing that even the GIW wouldn't dare to encroach on Batman's territory, it was a pretty safe plan. That was until a certain vigilante just keeps on finding himself in their dumpster. / / It was a normal night of patrol for Jason. Beating up a bunch of criminals. Shooting them with bullets (they're rubber bullets Bruce! Calm down!) Get stabbed by them. Pass out from blood loss in the place he was taking refuge in Wake up in an apartment, his wounds bandaged and all. And to a black haired blue eyed kid staring at him. "I found you in the garbage!"

The Batfamily is more than a little unsettling and each one of them has their own special brand of uncanniness. They seem inhuman and eldritch even though the people of Gotham know that they couldn’t be anything other than human, right?
