Okay here me out:
dp x dc writing prompt where Dani ends up exhausted (and maybe a little weak from traveling for so long, maybe she got in a fight and is hurt) and finding shelter in a nice barn with a friendly cow in it, curling up in a dark corner to rest and recover where she’s pretty sure no one will notice her until she's ready to take off again.
And because her form since stabilizing has always been a bit prone to sliding away from more human and into the more eldritch when she's tired, she appears less like a human girl and more like an more humanoid-ish shadow creature. Emphasis on the creature.
Damian is a responsible pet owner, he makes sure to go around feeding everyone first thing in the mornings, even on weekends, and because of his training he has a sharp eye for things that aren't quit right, so he spots this...thing curled up in the corner immediately.
His first instinct is to fight it - it managed to get past all their security measures, it's an unknown, it could be a danger to his family, or worse BatCow - but then Alfred-the-cat jumps down from the hay bail the creature is curled up behind and lands on it. The creature gives a pained little noise, but doesn't strike out or hurt the cat, just turns glowing green eyes up at it and meets Alfred-the-cat's little mrrp with one of it's own and buts it's shadowy head against the cat.
And Damian, maybe a little more tired then usual up so early after a long night fighting rogues as Robin, just comes to the conclusion that - while obviously a supernatural creature of some variety- it clearly has been adopted by Alfred-the-cat as a kitten and equally adopted the cat back as it's caretaker. And separating them would be detrimental to both.
So obviously this is just another pet for him to take care of, especially when he realizes that Bruce-the-shadow (it only seemed appropriate since Alfred-the-cat adopted the creature) is injured.
Dani is a little too out of it to fully get what's going on at first, just vaguely aware of someone that looks a bit like Danny saying something to her and trying to check on her injuries - he must have found her, one of the local ghosts must have told him what was going on - so she just lets him because she knows how he gets.
The rest of the family thinks it's a bit weird that Damian has been spending so much more time down at the barn recently, but hey it keeps him from getting into fights with his siblings and they all get the need for some alone time now and then.
Things only start getting weird when Dani starts realizing it's not her original/brother/father taking care of her but instead some kid her age, but by then Damian has started talking to Bruce-the-Shadow the same way he does his other pets, sharing the things he feels he can’t share with anyone else, and she sees that same loneliness and unwillingness to trust that she feels and really with the bruises the kid keeps showing up with she worries okay?
So she sticks around, even after she's all healed and could take off again, keeping her form shadowy and doing her best to keep an eye on her new...friend? Friend.
Cut to Damian ending up in some bad fight and Dani as Bruce-the-shadow showing up to save him and BatFam is concerned™️ about what the fuck that thing is, and Danny getting worried because he hasn't seen his clone/sister/daughter in a bit and she usually at least checks in by now and deciding to go look for her.

Prompt 219
Ellie would like it to be known that she didn’t do this on purpose. But what was she supposed to do when she found another clone? Not grab him before he could be brainwashed for evil? He’s a baby! Okay not literally, but as the older clone, she declares him baby!
Hey Danny, do you want a son? She found him in a whale! Yeah? Sweet, new tiny stabby brother!

oh no story prompt
Kon-el adopts Danny instead of Batman.
He sees Danny, right? He thinks 'huh, that kid looks a whole lot like a skinnier and younger version of THE FUCKER JUST FLOATED OFF THE GROUND GOD DAMN IT LEX'
So he's convinced Danny's another clone, but he doesn't want Danny to deal with Clark's shit so he vows that Danny won't fucking have to, he'll do the dadding instead.
Danny is very confused but very much enjoying the new friend who he can fly with and wrestle with without worrying about breaking him.
And Kon can't fuckin ask or tell cuz superman WILL hear, and that's exactly what he's trying to avoid.
Fuckinnnnnn Kon just reaching out to Bruce by landing in the batcave and activating the bat sound shield or whatever (bruce def has one) so Clark won't hear
"How do I dad?!"
"...I'm...going to need you to go back a little-"
"You're like, the daddest dad I know. How do I dad?"
Bruce pauses, stands up, puts a finger to his lips, and deactivates the shield before calmly walking out of the cave.
Alfred comes back in and turns the shield on.
"Now Young Master Conner, I am told you have questions in regards to parenting?"

Dp x dc idea 24
Jason can feel himself being drawn somewhere in the Midwest. He’s busy with his own bs to deal with it. It’s only when he hops on a motorcycle and starts riding that way he admits it may be a concern.
One things for sure he’s not telling Bruce.
Cass, Tim and Damian show up asking him if he feels it to. They all agree it’s turned more into a pull now.
The four say f it and go off to investigate. Jason has his guns, Damian his sword, Tim his paranoia and Cass is just Cass.
Meanwhile Danny in amity park is freaking out that apparently he was the new ghost king. So many ghost had popped through to meet him. They just wouldn’t stop coming. Claiming he was calling them to greet their new king.

Tim had his spleen removed, right. This means he would not be able to withstand bacterial infection as well (a.k.a. getting sick, which happens a lot when people get injured or sleep deprived cause their immune system weakens), so for his own safety, he would likely take care of himself more than the other bats would care for themselves. He probably wouldn't get in a fight he knows he would badly lose, or win but get very injured during. Tim would be the calm and calculating one. He already is deemed as smart and a great detective, so that makes him even scarier.
He gets a reputation as a vigilant far more dangerous from his siblings, cause he perches like a bird above the fight, but if he gets involved, then the villains know they're goners. If it's Dick, Jason, Steph, Cass, even Damian and Batman himself, people don't get as intimidated, but should Tim come in, they back off so fast. In this essay I will...

I keep thinking about this AU where Bruce just stays in college and becomes a doctor but still gets dragged into the superhero world.
Ok so Bruce is a doctor and is known for never turning down a patient because he’s still Bruce and he just doesn’t want anyone to die. He still lives in Gotham which is still a horrible place. He still tries to help Gotham by donating and creating his Wayne foundation but it’s hard because the inherent corruption in Gotham hinders anything he does this way.
The mob is still super active in Gotham and a lot of Batman’s rogues still happen because a lot of his rogues just happen with or without Batman. Poison Ivy still becomes an ecoterrorist. Penguin still becomes a powerful mob boss. Mad Hatter is still just the worst. Tommy probably still tries to kill Bruce. Just so many of Gotham’s rogues still exist, except there is no hero to stop them in Gotham. People try, but Gotham is never kind to any hero. Bruce is immensely frustrated by all this but he can’t really do anything. Hell sometimes Lesly’s clinic (cause I feel like he would work there) gets harassed and extorted to help heal mob members and crime wars. He hates this a lot but he’s trapped. He doesn’t have Batman training or gear, the best he can do is help where he can.
However there are still other heroes in this world and Superman is literally just a quick flight away. The JL forms without a Batman and they see Gotham as a powder keg. So they try to help when they can and sometimes they get injured. It comes to a head when a Metropolis (Lex Luthor specifically) and some Gotham rogues team up to get rid of the main hero pain in their necks. Lex creates kryptonite bullets and disperses them to the Gotham rogues to use. Lex sees this as a win because he can get Superman killed without doing much and the Gotham rogues see this as a win cause they have a big weapon against Superman.
So Superman gets shot at with kryptonite bullets. They aren’t the best so they hurt him but only one really makes it through and hits his skin. He has to call in back up and the JL comes to help. I can image Wonder Woman or Flash getting there first. They have no idea what to do because holy shit Superman was shot. That shouldn’t happen! But they’ve heard of this doctor in Gotham that’s supposed to be really good. Maybe Oliver or Dinah suggest Bruce idk. So they take Superman to Dr. Bruce Wayne.
Dr. Bruce Wayne is at his manor with Alfred and a young Dick Grayson (because I firmly believe Bruce would still adopt the kids) and then there is a knock on the door. Alfred goes to answer and in barges the Justice League with a bleeding Superman. Bruce is immediately on his feet barking orders to the JL to get equipment he can use and telling Dick and Alfred to stay back. He doesn’t know what’s going on or how freaking Superman is bleeding out in front of him but he doesn’t care. Bruce realizes quickly that the bullet is cause Clark more pain so it can’t be a leave the bullet in there scenario. He gets the bullet out and asks the JL how to help Clark heal. They say sunlight helps but this is Gotham! It’s polluted and over cast all the time, he won’t be able to get enough sunlight. Bruce remembers a sunlamp they have from a science experiment for Dick. He tells Dick to go get it and they pray that it works. It does by some miracle, though it’s no substitute for actual sunlight.
The League is grateful for Bruce and Clark is also immensely grateful cause holy shit he got shot. The Justice League has to now figure out how these bullets got out in the first place and well Bruce can’t help but be nosy so he mentions that a few of his patients, the mob ones, let it slip that the higher ups got into contact with someone in metropolis and Bruce knows Lex hates Superman. So he helps them out a bit too.
And after that any time they need help with some medical issue they go to super doctor Bruce. He’s also still Bruce and can’t ignore his detective brain so he helps them with mysteries too from time to time. Idk I feel like this still needs more fleshing out but I think it could be funny. Or sad. Or both.

I'm absolutely delighted when I come across Bruce meeting/visiting the Kents posts.
Battinson meeting them? Oh, boy. That man is a nervous wreck. Hiding behind Clark, stuttering, blushing, going on rants about how well they treat the animals and crops.
" I had a pet turtle once. Alfred told me it ran away."
Probably gets so flustered that he accidentally reveals he's Batman one hour in when Martha asks what he does for work. What's he gonna say? CEO? Gross.
Even better if he thinks Clark and him are doing such a good job of sneaking around. But he comes down to breakfast with a plaid shirt hanging off his shoulders.
He doesn't realize it until Martha chokes a laugh in her coffee.
Clark comforts him in the barn. Bruce picked an emotional support cow and he's laying facedown in a bed of hay. " Come on, darlin', it's not so bad."
" Mom laughing at me IS bad, Clark!"
Clark's heart does a leap, "...Mom?"
Bruce wants to sink in the ground. "... Martha."

So sorta a prompt/sorta a brain worm that got stuck in my head.
What if.... When Jason died originally he came back as a ghost and he and Danny met. Jason helped him fight ghosts and taught him some tricks of the trade. He offhandedly told Danny that if he ever needed help to go to Gotham/Blüdhaven (depends if you want to spin Jason still feeling kind towards Bruce or him being more in Dick's corner). Jason vanishes when he's resurrected and Danny doesn't hear from him for years.
Well something happens. (Either everyone he loves dies, and he runs to the GZ or away to prevent himself from turning into Dark Danny, or his parents find out his secret and react Badly. Or maybe they react well but the GIW takes them out)
Danny runs to the only place he thinks can offer sanctuary, Gotham/Blüdhaven. Running off the words of a friend he hasn't seen in a long time.
He arrives and is probably exhausted, stumbling around when he feels a familiar energy. He follows it, only to nearly collapse at Jason's feet as Red Hood. (This is probably post Outlaws when Jason has a more peacefulish relationship with the Bats) and looks up.
"Jason?"
"Danny?!"

(Halloween day)
Dick, dressed up as Wally's version of the Flash: Are we ready!?
Damian, grumbling as he walks down the stairs in a cheaply made Batman suit: The superior Robin is ready.
Jason, stepping out of the side entrance wearing a genderbent Wonder Woman outfit: I am here, thanks Demon Brat.
Tim, stepping out in a Superboy outfit: Yeah, I guess I'm ready.
Jason: Please tell me that's actually one of Connor's shirts.
Tim: No comment.
Cass, hopping down from the ceiling in a Black Canary outfit:
Dick: You look great Cass. Everyone else!?
Duke, moving into the room dressed as Black Lightning: Yeah, I guess I'm ready.
Bruce, appearing from the shadows wearing a classic Superman uniform, underwear on the outside: *grunts*
(A knock on the door, which Dick opens)
Barbara, dressed in her actual old Batgirl uniform minus the gadgets while in the wheelchair: Howdy, boys.
Steph, dressed accurately (really detailed) as Red Hood: Hiiii.
Everyone:
Jason: You have never been hotter, Steph.
Dick: Jason!

Trick or treat! 🎃
Where is this going? I have no idea. Continued from part 3.
_____________
Jason shivered, arms wrapped tight around his shins and curled into as small a ball as he could go. He wanted to run, to flee, to give into the frantic energy racing through him--but he didn't know where to go.
Dick. He'd called Dick. His brother was coming. Jason had to stay here and wait.
He curled up tighter at the creaking sound. He didn't know if it was real or in his head. He kept--he kept hearing laughter which couldn't be real because the clown was dead. Or no. Maybe the clown wasn't dead. Jason couldn't remember. All he remembered was shooting, and the sickening realization that he'd killed someone without thinking.
He should've checked. He should've seen if the body was dead. Called a hospital. Checked to see if it was really him or some poor child who'd worn too much makeup and--
No. Jason couldn't move. He couldn't. Dick told him to stay.
The decision was made for him at the sound of a footstep. Jason raised his head--he needed his big brother, please, he needed someone to tell him it would be okay--and stilled completely.
Batman glowered at him.
"Hood," he said, low and deep and cold, swooping forward like an avenging angel. Jason flinched back--he was armed and armored, fully geared up, but still he could do nothing in the face of an angry Batman.
He was tugged this way and that, Batman's voice rising and rising until he was shouting--Jason couldn't tell what he was saying. The sound of his own heartbeat drowned out the words.
What he did know was Batman pulling Jason to his feet. Grappling him tight in an inescapable hold and marching him out of the apartment.
Jason let a sob claw free.
Arkham it was.

i have a special place in my heart for "show don't tell" storytelling, especially in comic books. comics are a visual medium!
#tim drake#jack drake#comic ref in description#this is the last panel of the comic#and something i really like about it is that i feel like... it has a certain amount of respect for the reader?#you might not notice/get the irony of the batsignal showing up behind them#and the way the batsignal foreshadows that actually this /isn't/ a resolved happy ending#because the conflict between bruce and jack - and more directly between tim's values/priorities vs. his dad's -#hasn't actually been resolved even though they're both sorry and hugging#which means the conflict will inevitably occur again and again and again#which is a very clever grace note here#but if you don't notice that's okay! the comic isn't panicking trying to spell it out for you#if you catch it it's fine and if you don't catch it that's also fine#it has something that i really like about a lot of older comics and sometimes find missing in new ones (at least the ones abt the blorbos)#which is that it assumes that the /readers/ can realize things abt the situation that the /characters/ don't#i read both tim and his dad as both perfectly sincere in this reconciliation - they're caught up in the moment#and physically neither of them can see the batsignal#but we-the-readers can see both the batsignal and the looming future conflicts it implies even though they don't#the narrative isn't telling you what to think! no character emerged to announce 'But In Fact Tim You Still Have A Problem!'#instead the artist has just left the batsignal there and let you make the obvious inferences ON YOUR OWN#similarly in nightwing 110 (another one of my favorites) there's a conversation between dick and tim where they're both lying#if you're only a nightwing reader you know dick is lying but you probably won't figure out that tim is lying (or at least not the extent)#but if you /do/ read tim's comics then you understand what's going on in a way that neither of the characters do#there's just a general understanding that the characters are not fully self-aware nor do they perfectly understand each other#plus the gradual / slow-build / layered conflict#tim's mixed loyalties between bruce and his dad are a constant background slow burn tension#dick's complicated feelings about loving tim but also feeling a little threatened by him are also a low-key thread in the nightwing comics#the writers don't need to have a surprise! sudden! fight! nor do they need all-fluff-all-the-time#instead these tensions are mostly dormant except when they get exacerbated by extreme situations#there are plenty of things that 90s comics do *not* handle well but the character voices and longform style always draw me back <3

Prompt 174
Despite what people complain and snark about, Bruce does in fact have contingency plans for pretty much everything. And while he doesn’t have an exact contingency for Jason apparently accidentally kidnapping the apparently prince of the Realms- some infinite space where the dead resided according to Zatanna and Constantine, he’ll have an existential crisis about it later thanks- he did have one for his kids accidentally kidnapping someone.
He just doesn’t think that exact plan will work in this case, seeing as that plan had to do with civilians and not very large kings that could obliterate the entire world with a hand wave, nevermind the fact that they have so many armies. Not to mention what is apparently both the king’s second-in-command and brother.
Well, if none of his usual contingencies won’t work and Constantine’s attempts at making a deal isn’t working, nor is the other’s attempts to talk the two down, then it’s plan Z time. Seduction it is.

i finally saw eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. i liked it! i enjoyed how its shot and how surreal it is. the way he grasps at memories as they warp and disappear felt like an emotionally resonant portrayal of metaphorical death - death of relationships, death of who you used to be, who your lover used to be, and even the way it mimics the retrospective lens of a literal near-death experience.

Does anyone else ever think about the possibility of (in a marvel/dc crossover) Tim Drake getting adopted by Marc Specter/Steven Grant instead of Bruce
Like Tim’s parents decide to take him on an archaeological dig and they get murdered and Marc or Steven are there for reasons (mercenary? Archaeologist? *shrugs*) and he finds like a nine year old Tim and says “is anybody gonna adopt this?” And then doesn’t wait for an answer
Also I’m gonna say Khonshu is nice in this au he’s like the systems dad (Marc is his favorite child) and that Tim and Khonshu have an agreement that if something happens to Marc Tim will be the next Moonknight (Tim definitely becomes they’re Oracle)
Also Bruce and Steven/Marc start dating and that’s how he eventually adopts Tim as well Boom (they probably met because of Tim knowing the batfams ids)
